PEAM, Tuesday 4/23/13 (#32): Someday, All Our Stalking Will Be Done by Robots...

...and then there will be no more telenovelas. Or they'll all have to be historical TNs, or TNs for robots. (I'd watch 'em!)

We're good for now, though. Xochi left 15 telephone messages with Chucho's secretary, after making a dozen calls to his cell.

Discua is wearing her new Avon uniform, and it even sort of fits.

Mari is going out into the world. "You might just make it after all..." (Nah, I doubt it.)

But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Let's go to prison!

It's a beautiful, sunshiny morning in the prison yard at the Monterrey Home for Mischievous Boys. Yuri is working out with dumbbells that look way too small for him when the guards inform him that his lawyer's here to see him. Yuri is excited, thinking Cantú will tell him that Jesus Garcia is dead, but Cantú says sorry, no, he wasn't alone when they found him, and he was able to defend himself. Yuri goes bananas and attacks the lawyer. He says he's just going to have to kill Jesus himself. The guards haul him away.

Elias has an epic hangover and tells Chucho he doesn't remember much about last night, though he knows he tried to catch up on five years' worth of greasy meals in one sitting. Chatita comes along with a nice little soup for him that I guess is supposed to be a hangover remedy and I think I see a shrimp in there. She tells Elias he has nice eyes and I think she says he resembles her son. Chatita gives Eli and Chucho a lengthy and effusive blessing before sending them on their way.

Also going on her way is Mari Mari Quite Contrary. She's decided to take her father up on his suggestion that she move out. She doesn't know where she'll go, but any place is better than this slimy mudhole, she tells him. He thinks he at least deserves some credit for helping her get this job where she can buy things for herself. "They're all counterfeits," she retorts, indicating her look-alike nondesigner handbag. He begs her to stay. She says staying there is like a living death. She flounces out proudly. He weeps disconsolately.

A moment later, he is downtown, standing pensively beside his garbage truck, when Alma just happens to see him. He doesn't look well; he says he didn't sleep much last night. Alma knows it's because of Mari. He tells Alma she left home. Alma offers to try to talk some sense into her, but Panfilo doesn't want her to do that. Alma says Mari's been telling everyone in the office that her father is the biggest businessman in all of Nuevo León.

Chucho drives Eli's car so that Eli can finish the stew Chatita gave him. He gobbles it up as if it's the first meal he's had in a week. Since Eli doesn't remember last night's conversation, Chucho tells him again that he should go talk to Vero because she's not doing well. Eli thinks it would just turn into a big fight. After all these years, the pot has finally boiled over. (Actually, he says it exploded... a pressure cooker? Too soon!)

Crazy Xochi tells Susana, Jess, and Discua (whose new Avon skirt is longer than Jess's, but still way above her knee) that she and Chucho are Official Novios.

At Orion, Chucho's secretary hands him a thick stack of "urgent messages" left by Xochi. (Such as, "Where are you," "Call me," "I miss you," and "Why aren't you answering your cell?") That's 15 calls in 15 minutes. (Slacker! I bet a really good stalker could call 45 times or more in 15 minutes.) He checks his cell and sees he's missed 12 calls because the ringer was off. It might be dawning on him that there's something screwy about this relationship.

At the gym, Paty needles Alma about Chucho and Xochi. She hints that Chucho is just using Xochi to forget about Alma. Oh yes, Paty says, it's so obvious that HeeeeeyZeus is in love with Alma! Irritated, Alma tries to relocate her workout, but Paty follows her. Alma tries to change the subject to her wedding, which she will definitely be having very soon, and she'll need Paty's help picking out the menu. Paty says, "C'mon, I know you already hired someone to take care of that. Let's talk about Chucho!" And Alma replies, "I DON'T WANNA TALK ABOUT HIM!!"

Elias tries to talk to Vero, who is grumpy in bed with a hangover of her own. She is super-defensive from the very start, to the point where she almost doesn't need Eli there to have this argument because she can just accuse him in advance of wanting to say all these things. Then she says, "Oh, I get it. You're here to apologize!" She reminds him of all the reasons he should be apologizing. The "conversation" just gets worse from there. I don't think I need to repeat another word of it: it's all too familiar.

Paty continues to bait Alma about Chucho. Alma denies that there's anything "special" between them, and insists that she's marrying Rogelio. "But WHY are you marrying him?" Paty asks. "You know very well why!" Alma answers, and stomps off.

Chucho finally returns Xochi's call. The way she squeals and jumps up and down, you would think it was a call from Justin Bieber. She scolds him for not answering his phone. She calls him "currucucu," gushes about their big kiss in the taxi, and blah blah blah he has to go! He's at work and he needs to do some WORK! Yeesh!! She kisses the phone so hard, Ma Bell's gonna get mono! The other secretaries look like they're considering hosing her down to cool her off.

Chucho looks up and finds his boss, Don Maximo, beaming at him. It's always a delight to see a man who's so much in love! Don M summons his Two Sillies - Simon and Eugenio - to help Chucho with a project. The Cosmetics Camera, er, Chamber of Commerce is going to be awarding some special certification to ONE and ONLY ONE company. That company will gain a huge competitive advantage in the marketplace. The main contenders are Avon and Orion. Don Max wants Chucho to prepare their application since, as a former Avon employee, he has insider knowledge of Avon's financials. "No mistakes!" is Don M's motivational speech.

Eli tells Vero everybody makes mistakes. The difference is that other people admit their mistakes. She doesn't. And the biggest mistake he ever made was putting up with her for all these years. She says she's happy with their life, all orderly and sanitary and healthy. "Well, you can have your house all orderly and sanitary," Eli says, "and disinfected and ALONE!" He leaves and slams the door. She sprays the air behind him with an aerosol disinfectant.

Fernando gives Discua a flower. She notices the bruise on his face (from Chucho at the restaurant). He says he walked into a door. "Must have been a really stupid door," Rogue mocks. He's in such a hurry to talk to Fern that he doesn't even accept the messages Susana has for him. Rogue is all frantic that he might be losing Alma. He talks to himself, much to Fer's confusion, but arrives at a solution which neither we nor Fern get to hear!

Mari arrives late to work. Alma notices and calls her into her office. She says "I know I promised not to tell anyone else about your background when I hired you, but you can't keep lying to your coworkers. Your father is worried about you." Mari cries and says that it takes her months to earn what Alma makes in one day and she has to take three buses to work each day and she couldn't stand living there any longer. Alma says, well, maybe it's not the nicest house but you mustn't put your family down. At least you have a father who's healthy (eep!) and who loves you and is always on your side. Mari looks thoughtful.

The Two Sillies are very eager to get started on the project with Chucho. They've already got a great strategy: they're going to cheat! They're going to fudge the numbers on their manufacturing costs and sales. They have some friends who can be paid to falsify some supporting documentation. And all they need Chucho to do is provide whatever information he has about Avon's figures. It's no problem - in fact, they've done it before. Great! Chucho steps outside and calls Alma and asks for a meet.

Fernando is mumbling happily about Discua and toiling over an important solitaire game when Paty calls. She wants to meet for lunch at Luigi's. She says she's going to drop a bomb on him. (Again, enough with the explosions! It's too soon, I tell you!)

Alma is on her way out the door to meet Chucho when Discua presents her with a little tulip garden for her desk. The card reads, "My love for you grows greater every day. I love you, Alma. Rogelio." Alma tries to force a smile, but her expression is so miserable that Discua looks worried.

Meanwhile, in Rogue's office, Susana gloats - tulips are Alma's favorite flower, and orange is her favorite color! Bwahahaha!!

After all the bragging Mari has done about her wonderful home life and her super-generous dad, Xochi is a little confused as to why they're fighting. Discua wants to hear all about Mari's dad, the wealthy and influential magnate. Alma announces that she's going to meet with Chucho; Xochi insists that she deliver a handwritten note to her cucurrucucú.

After Alma leaves, Xochi wonders why she looks so sad. Mari says it's because Alma, being a high-powered businesswoman, knows Mari's father the magnate very well and Mari told Alma about their fight. I wonder how much bigger this lie can get?

Fern shows up for lunch, and Pati drops her bomb: "I'm absolutely sure that Alma has feelings for Chucho. More than one would feel for a mere friend or a secretary." Alma saw him with Xochi at the restaurant last night and she was jeallllllous! And when Paty asked Alma what she felt for him, she said "I don't know." Paty told Rogue and he was FURIOUS!

Alma meets Chucho for that business-related coffee. They share a passionate handshake. She gives him Xochi's note. It looks like it was written by a small child. "I miss you, currucucú, XXXX!!" and already his phone is ringing. He knows it's Xochi and he doesn't want to answer, but he doesn't want to be rude, either, so he picks up. Preteen girls all over the world cringe in embarrassment over her reaction. At least it's a short call this time.

Chuch asks Alma about the certification from the Camera, er, Chamber of Cosmetics. Sure, she says, Avon is competing, along with Orion and a bunch of other companies. He ought to know; he helped her prepare their application. But it's very important for Avon to win, and she's sure they will. She reminds him that it's not okay for people to discuss these things with competitors. He agrees; normally he wouldn't bring it up, for ethical reasons, but under the circumstances he has no choice. Orion is going to cheat!

Alma is impactada!

Next time:
CATFIGHT! (Please tell me there's a Bingo square for this somewhere!)

Comments:
Ok, only so I don't forget and while I wait for the recap, I will tell you what I saw tonight:

Today is Nov. 5th.(morning to noon)
Wink-o-meter: 7 ;)

Things to think about:
Marisela is covered in jewelry, she should be careful because where she lives and taking three different buses one day she is going to end up mugged or worse.
Pánfilo definitely is TOGCIM!!
Alma used to get up at the break of dawn to go to the gym and still make it on time to work, but now everybody is already working and she is still at the gym, what's up?
Elías should have brought some wine, anything, Verónica only talks without arguing when she is drinking!
Is this another BINGO card? I saw PEAM logo now in the phone. When Alma answered Jesús, there it was!
Do Caprices actually mean Caprichos, like in whims?
Ok, so here everybody is working as a favor to somebody else, Fernando because Rogelio was asked by his father, Alma because Rogelio owed a favor to her father, Marisela, because Alma did the favor to Pánfilo, and Jesús, that was also a favor, right? Overlooking his probation record.
Oh, and not only the Chamber Music can be translated as CAMERA, also de Chamber of Commerce!!

Vocabulary:
Picadillo (mexican dish with ground beef to stuff tacos and peppers)- mincemeat
Pocilga (where the pigs live)- Dump
Sopenco (fool) -twerp ?!
Dorar la píldora (talk somebody into doing something)-Gild the pill? I always thought it was more like frying than painting gold.
Zorrilla, besides being a last name, also means female skunk, or in this case FOXY!
Currucucú is the way doves communicate (remember that song, Cucurrucucú Paloma?)

Speaking of crazy people, last night, the Caption Lady was going crazy talking gibberish. I was changing channels, and stopped at 30Rock, and the captions didn't say anything! Just random letters and numbers... Do you think the Caption Lady moonlights as the CAPTCHA lady?? That should be exhausting!

The Camera of Commerce? Really? Hahahaha!!! BAD.

I got pocilga (and cuchitril), but I don't know TOGCIM. Wait - is that "The Oldest Garbage Collector In Monterrey?"

The Caption Lady probably does moonlight as the captcha lady. That would explain a lot, wouldn't it?

A caprice is like a whim, yes. I think the real meaningful difference is that "whim" probably comes from a different language while "caprice" comes from Latin?

Oh, I know what word I'm having trouble with. Currucucu. Is that any relation to the song about the cucurrucucu paloma? Or is it a cuckoo bird, which is really the perfect nickname for xochi?

Julie:

Love your title and so looking forward to your recap of this hawt mess.

Pablo:

I love that song Currucucu Paloma. I have heard the Elvis Presley Version and then the Luis Miguel version. I think Xochi thinks of him as her dove of lurrrvve, lol.

Woops. I missed where Pablo already addressed the cucurrucucu question. D'oh.

Pizza is a danger food for me too! God bless ya Julie!

Pablo and Julie..the capcha lady has me cursing and swearing more often than the caption lady does....but I never thought she might be the same sadistic person. Makes total sense.

Xochi is driving me crazy too.

At least tomorrow we get to see a "girl fight" and they are not being as polite and tasteful as Marsella and Rebecca were in PESE ( remember they went off camera ) . OK..now it's time for the flippin' captcha lady...curse ...swear..Gertie

Julie--TOGCIM--Well, he *is* the oldest, but maybe Pablo meant The Only Garbage Collector in Monterrey. We can see there are other men (waiting on him to snap out of it), so maybe it refers to the truck?

We know you'll do justice to the episode--we already have a hint from the title. I hope you have some humorously derisive remarks about Xoxchi-milko. Instead of getting mejor she's getting peor. Poor thing, she must never have had a boyfriend, so she doesn't know about Boyfriend Rule #1: do not send him hand-drawn pink hearted love notes by way of the boss (even bosses who aren't in love with said boyfriend.)

OK, done.

Anita, after reading what I'd written about Xochi I was worried that I'd been too harsh. But then I replayed that last scene and wondered if I wasn't harsh enough. Do they make butterfly nets in her size?

Gertie, I love pizza, but I usually focus on the cheese and skip most of the meaty toppings. Tonight, my judgment was impaired by hunger and I let myself be tempted by a photo of a so-called deluxe pizza. I should have restricted that feast to my eyes. I can't make intelligent decisions about food when I'm hungry!

Is anyone else intrigued by the outfit Discua's wearing in the opening credits? It's not the minty green dress, and it's not the Avon uniform. I can't tell if it's a regular suit, or a competitor's uniform.

Julie:

Thanks for this marvelous quick recap. Ay yi yi, Xochi is soooo over the top. I'm thinking she has never, eva had a novio before. It's too sad, I wish she would stop the stalkerish behavior. That inner swan needs to come out. It's just lurking in there somewhere.

Ay, Vero and poor Elias. I'm surprised he put up with her for this long. It's her way or the highway and no compromise at all. And that spraying of the space poor Elias was standing in. What does this bode for poor Valentina?

I so like Chatita, I'd love to adopt her. The purveyor of soup, advice and blessings, what more could you want?

Yuri is one scary dude. I hope he never catches up to Chucho.

Mari needs to get over herself. Her poor Papa. I am glad Alma knows all about her true life and not the made up one she shovels to everyone else. I wonder now that Mari has left home, if she'll end up in Chatita's 'hood?

Patymelt is really working the Alma/Chucho romance. Rog will be pithed.

I can't wait for the cat fight with Jess and Discua. I like Discua in the uniform and I too wonder what she is wearing in the promos.

Good re-cap Julie....
I was surfing between PEAM and the "Nationals" baseball game.(So far the "Nats" suck this year, no offense, and sub-par pitching.)

I just happened to flip to the show when two of the three 'hotties'- bonbons were standing side by side.

Pablo, Jessy was sexier than Discua as they stood in their Secretario uniform... But we mainly saw "frontals", and not the implanted rear of Discua. Round one goes to Jessy....tonight the "catfight" is on and popping. Lets see who wins round two.

The rest of the show is a lot of blah, blah, blah....time moving at the speed of a snail.

OMG, Julie. This was superb.
Loved -- "Mari Mari Quite Contrary"
"She kisses the phone so hard, Ma Bell's gonna get mono!"
"Preteen girls all over the world cringe in embarrassment over her reaction."

That soup that Chatita made -- Is it that hangover cure with tripe in it? Menudo, I think they call it.

Interesting that Alma knows all about Mari & is friendly with her father.

Vero just keeps digging herself in deeper -- the aerosol spray was funny -- as well as a sad testament to how far she still needs to go before she is redeemed.

Who's the hottie that Elias is cuddled with in the new intro? Is it the psychologist?

Please put us all out of our misery and let Xochi ease up on her squealing and jumping and stalking.

Thanks again Julie. This was great.

Güera

Julie, thanks for the wonderful recap and the great phrases like "Mari, Mari quite contrary" and referring to Chucho as "Chuch".
Too funny.

Pablo, I like your idea of a wink-o-meter.

So, they did give Discua a uniform that looks good on her: "telenovela professional." Xochi is just too annoying and sadly probably doesn't even know it. I loved that Jesús gave Alma a heads up over the Orion cheating scheme. At least his loyalties are in the right place.

Jarifa

I think I saw a potatoe chunk floating in that soup. Didn't look like menudo to me, not red enough...
More like beef stew?

Anyway, it looked good!
And following TN steps, with Pámfilo being ''The only trash collector in Monterrey'', Marisela will end up in the ''The only vecindario (o privadita, as they call it) in Montrrey''. Chatita, as Chucho's sidekick, will interact with everyone else, including Yuri, in this TN.
Besides Chochi and her currucucú, we also have Pati and her ''pichón'', as she calls Rogelio...
Someone loves those little birds there.
I will have to pay extra attention to see how many times Discua winks during the fight!! ;)

Great job Julie.

ITA with everyone that Xochi is now totally irritating. This can't go on for much longer, can it?

I got the impression that Mari's dad can't afford a better place for them to live because he spent so much money putting her through school. Did anyone else pick up on that? That makes her lack of respect and gratitude even worse. I wonder where she ended up going? Wherever it is, I hope it's worse than her dad's house, or that she has to spend so much money that she can't afford her hair coloring/extensions, manicures, and knock-off accessories anymore.

I don't know what the soup was, but it definitely had shrimp in it. It looked yummy.

Elias tried, but Vero just made it impossible. What's it going to take for her to wake up?

I was so happy that Jesus immediately called up Alma about the Orion cheating issue. At least there won't be any misunderstandings between them, and Alma won't think Jesus betrayed her, if Orion wins dirty. And now we can see a clear reason why Jesus would return to Avon and leave Orion. Max might be a "nicer" boss than Fernando, but Jesus's sense of honor won't allow him to work for someone who demands that he lies and cheats for very long.

Wondrous Julie!!!

Love your shout out to Mari " "You might just make it after all..." (Nah, I doubt it.)" Still hard to feel sorry for her though I think the writers are trying to make a case for us viewers...she still a little over the top in trying to make herself into something else. It's going to back fire and I thin Alma sees that ( liked the reveal that she knows the truth.) But then, maybe that's what it will take for Mari.

It was downright painful watching Xochi last night. I went way passed embarrassed for her by the end of the episode. What drives me equally nuts is the way everyone is just letting her run with this, Chucho and Alma included. Chucho is the worst offender. And Pink Ladies squad could have a talk with her instead of standing there and give her some pointers on how to act in a relationship. The longer this goes, the worst her fall will be when she realizes the truth. She passed Mari last night for me on characters I prefer off my screen for now. That's saying something.

And on the ongoing theme of people heading for a fall, Vero needs to use that disinfectant on herself to kill the "stupid" germs that have taken over her brain. I actually thought there for a minute when they first started to argue that they would grab each other in anger, fall on the bed and make out. THAT did not happen. So will the writers now hook Elias up with someone else? If only temporary so that Vero has to hit bottom when she doesn't win Chucho and realize she may have lost Elias? I still vote Patimelt or I would be happy to volunteer...jst a thought.

Daisy

Julie, EXCELLENT recap! I laughed all the way through it. This is a great telenovela for the loving style of mocking y'all are so good at.

Daisy, I think your idea for an anti-stupid spray for Vero is hilarious, but sometimes there is no cure for stupid. I'm enjoying watching her character evolve. Thankfully Valentina seems immune to Mami's silliness.

Pablo, thanks for the translation of Currucucú. I was wondering what that was all about. I do remember how ANNOYING Xochi is whenever she says that. Ugh. I agree with you folks that she needs to stop her pathetic behavior right now!

Thanks again Julie. You are one funny lady.

Yeah, the expense of sending Mari to secretarial school is definitely something Dad's mentioned to her before (a couple of weeks ago, also on a Tuesday night) and she complained that all she can do with that education is get a crummy secretarial job. I guess she hasn't seen any of the TNs where secretaries take college courses (at their own expense) on the side and work their way up the corporate latter. (And don't whine and act resentful.)

For a moment there I thought Alma was getting through to her, but then Mari regaled her coworkers with more lies about her dad.

Menudo - I suppose that curlicue could have been a piece of tripe, but it looked like a shrimp to me. I don't think Chatita said what the stew was, but I could have overlooked it because she does say a lot of things... it did look good though.

With Rogelio all worried about Alma being in love with Chucho, I can't imagine that he'd be amenable to letting him come back to Avon. But maybe he'd do it if it meant getting the certification from the Camera of Cosmetics!

Jarifa, "Chuch" was just a typo, but maybe I"ll leave it be. ;-)

This is great, Julie. Hilarious.

I was even growing a little weary of Verónica last night...that is until she sprayed the space that Elias had just vacated with disinfectant. That was both very funny and very telling about her inner turmoil. If only clearing the air were so simple.

Didn't any of you wish that you had that same can of disinfectant to neutralize Xochi?

Carlos

I also thought the stew had shrimp and it looked delicious.

Carlos

Julie, somehow "Chuch" said it all to me at that point. :)

Jarifa

As ''mexican'' as this TN is, taking place in Monterrey and all, I am sure she didn't say the name of the broth. If it was something worth mention, they should have said it. The best remedies for hangovers are splitting the world in half. 50% think you can cure it with something spicy, like this beef broth, and 50% think you need something sweet like honey.
I wouldn't know.

Great one Julie, gracias

Isn't mondongo good for a hangover?

Is mondongo the soup that Burundanga le dió a Cuchilanga porque a Cuchilanga se le hinchan los pies?

Couldn't help it, sorry!

Julie--It's a hit!
Mari Mari Quite Contrary, good one for our counterfeit gal.

About the explosions, yes, probably too soon, but you acknowledged the deed yet kept your eye on the tn.

So Alma has a secret as to why she's marrying Rogelio. Patimelt knows, but she won't tell Viewerville. Hmmmm.

It was probably too soon for a reconciliation between Vero and Elias, but I'm glad he stood his ground. Once they've tasted fat, salt and high-fructose corn syrup how are you going to keep them down on the farm--er, on a strict vegan diet (apologies to our vegetarian friends, but it was Elias' doings, not mine--I'm just reporting here).

Anita, La Dama del Queso

Gracias, Julie! Funny and thorough as always. I, too, was jarred by the bomb and explosion talk.

Pablo, "dorar la píldora" in English would be to sugarcoat. Thanks again for the vocab help...nearly every day I learn something new.

I was delighted to find out that Alma knows all about MariContrari's background and lies. It makes Mari's grand airs in the office even more ridiculous.

Paticakes always cracks me up. I liked when Alma said something like "I am marrying Rogelio! What part of that don't you understand?!" and Pati said "There is NO part of that that I understand!" Well said, Paticakes.

Anita, I didn't even pick up on that - that there's a secret reason for Alma to marry Rogue. I just figured she meant to imply "I'm marrying him because I love him" but couldn't bring herself to say the words... but maybe there is a secret. Otherwise it's hard to explain why she's still engaged to a guy who seems to turn her off a little more each day.

In addition to sugarcoating, there's also gilding a lily. That's not the same thing, but it does involve gold, so I thought I'd mention it!

For hangover remedies, I've also heard pozole's not bad. Alas, I know a thing or two about hangovers and I've come to the conclusion that it doesn't much matter what you do as long as you stay hydrated. It definitely helps to eat something (NOT too sugary - you'll just crash), but if your stomach hurts too, it's a bad idea to challenge it with spicy foods, unless you are trying to prolong your punishment!

Apparently, some people do NOT get a terrible stomach ache with their hangovers, so the spicy food makes more sense. Spicy food is usually salty too, and the salt helps you stay hydrated. For everyone else, there's ramen.

Guau, Anita, that remark about "you know why" Alma is marrying Rogelio went right past me. I hope you're right that there is some secret reason. It would explain why Alma goes on with this farce when she is obviously not into Rogelio.

Güera

I am a bit fuzzy as to why Paty is keeping Fernando in the loop about Alma and Chucho and Rogue. Is she overtly trying to get him to help her conspire against the wedding? Or is she sneakily trying to manipulate him into putting ideas into Rogue's head?

And why would Fernando care whether Alma and Rogue get married or not?

Julie thanks for your recap and sorry to hear about your pizza incident. I make bad decision about food when I'm hungry too.

Pablo - thanks for your vocabulary and the hilarious adventures of the caption lady.

Xochi's ridiculousness now does exceed Mari though both should stop now. Like Daisy, I don't understand the enabling of Xochi when anyone with a brain can tell Chucho is not that into her.

Anita - I'm glad you think Alma is obligated to Rog as that is what I am thinking too. She is one of the most disinterested bride-to-be I've seen.

And Julie, ITA I don't understand Pati's trying to enlist Fer. Even if he cared and I don't think he does, he's too incompetent to help her in any way.

Julie and Karen:

Yes I do believe Ms Patymelt is using Fern to put ideas in Rogue's head. Patymelt knows that Fern will go run and tell that to Rogue first chance he gets. Whatever Fern and Rogue can do to hurt Chucho they will do. They really hate him and if Rogue knows for sure that Chucho is after Alma there will be blood.

Patimelt's ultimate plan is to derail Alma & Rogue's marriage so she can stay with Rogue. She's tried hard to hook up Alma and Chucho (after her own failure).

I started out with the premise that whatever she feeds Fern who goes to Rogue about Alma's interest in Chuch would not be in Patimelt's interests--but then I mused that if Rogue got mad enough at Alma he would cancel the wedding.

But that's not going to happen because he also has some ulterior motive for the marriage and it ain't sex.

Lost power this morning and then internet has been off most of the day, but finally got to read your sparkling recap, Julie.

Loved:
"kisses phone so hard Ma Bell's gonna get mono" and

"they share a passionate handshake".

Yes, that handshake was way hotter than any of those cringe-worthy kisses Xochi laid on him.

The inner counselor in me wanted to jump into that scene with Vero and Elias and re-write all the dialogue but I guess it's way too soon for that relationship to work out. But in the meantime, little Valentina is without either of her loving dads, and the inner mother is me is in agony.

Oh yeah, this is a comedy. Supposed to be having fun. Let me work on that.

Pablo, thanks as always for great vocab. And Julie, I just ate some leftover pizza thanks to you.

OK, count me among those who didn't catch the hint about Alma and Rog. Not sure if this makes me more concerned for Alma's thinking or not, but now I'm intrigued. Let's hope if there is a reason, it's a "good" one. As worried as Rog gets about her leaving him, it has to be somehow money or power related? Well, money on his side---maybe he did something for her once and she feels like she owes him....oh, the options! Whatever it is, and if Patimelt knows, it sure isn't stopping our little spitfire from trying to break them up behind the scenes.

Judy, I'm so with you on little Val. I know we've seen Vero's affection for her daughter, but to me her wallowing away under the covers, etc. just doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies that she knows how make her daughter her priority. Frankly, right now I wish Chucho would fix up that apartment of his, heck Elias can help and move in, and they can bring in little Val. She needs that daily affection and it sure would be a lot more fun around that place than the one she is in now.

Daisy

Judy, if you wanted to create a textbook example of all the WRONG ways for a couple to fight, I think last night's Vero/Eli scene would be a good starting point. They were each having their own personal fight and not really hearing one another at all.

Julie,I am still laughing at this recap. It was wonderful!!!
Xochi is beyond annoying. The calling, screeching, screaming and note writing is hurting my eyes from the constant eye rolling.
Pablo, you have given us lots to think about. What is Cardenas' role if everyone is hired by a favor? I guess that he just keeps records/files.
Mari is definitely has champagne dreams on a kool-aid budget. Her anvil/bubble will burst soon.
Vero is confusing me, she runs hot and cold. Is she is love with Jesus or Elias??? What did I miss??

TJ--Elias is like one of Vale's stuffed animals. He's decorative, nice to have around, does everything Vero wants him to do and she's used to him. Jesus has re-awakened some missing passion, so maybe she's really not in love with either of them.

Jesus and Elias actually had an interesting conversation about Vero in the car. I wasn't paying total attention, but I think Jesus basically said that Vero wasn't such a control freak monster when they were together, although she was intense and already had some of those tendencies. I wish I had paid attention more because I feel like there was some bit of info or some clue about what happened to Vero. Didn't Chucho say something like if Vero had or hadn't done X (?), he wouldn't have gone to the States and none of them would be where they are today? This is what I get for doing laundry at the same time as the show. Was anyone else paying attention?

TJ, you didn't miss anything. Vero doesn't know what she wants and she's going to torture everyone around her until she figures it out. She needs some serious therapy.

Vivi, I think Jesus told Eli that if Vero hadn't dumped him, he wouldn't have gone to the US, etc. I don't think there was any new information.

My impression, based on the very vague information we've heard, is that something happened to Vero that neither Jesus nor Elias knows about, and that's why she became a control freak and dumped him all of a sudden. That's why I keep wondering if there was another man and she's either been punishing herself ever since then, or has developed all these neuroses to distract her from her anxiety over whatever it was.

Thanks Julie for the fun recap.

No Val sighting :(

I was literally cringing and hiding my face when Xochi was doing that thing she does.

Thought Mari had less makeup on the next day at work. Was that because she was going to have a crying scene?

Nanette

Thanks Julie. Glad I didn't really miss anything. I can't believe I wasn't paying attention to that scene since it involved yummy soup with shrimp in it, and a double dose of hotties-- Jesus and Elias.

Vivi, in any scene that has Jesus, Elias, and yummy soup with shrimp, it's a struggle to focus on the actual conversation. ;-)

Julie- I considered getting pizza tonight after your post, but then I ended up going a totally different route-- I made shrimp soup! It was delicious. :) Now, if only I could find two hotties...

I have a feeling that the over the Xochi top kissy face show that the actress put on was fun for her but horrible for viewerville.
