TELEMUNDO Y MAS - week of June 3
Bruno enters Biancas bedroom. She is pissed that Bruno lied to Ariel. He tells her Flav threatened him. He wants to kick Flav out. Nina knocks on Biancas door wanting to talk to her. She wants to talk about what Bruno and Ariels conversation. Bianca says she is sleepy but will talk to her soon. This convinces Nina to leave. Bianca still thinks Bruno is a coward. Bruno swears he loves her. Bianca says if that’s the case he will sleep with her in her bed tonight.
In the kitchen, Salo is the phone. He calls the newspaper to post an ad for a replacement chauffeur. Cele has Cami put away the garbage. Kat asks how will Salo make sure the chauffeur is legal. Salo says its not her business and sends her to water the plants. Then he puts his wife to work.
Bianca enters Ninas room. Bianca tells her to get over Bruno. He is a womanizer. Nina keeps insisting that the 2 love each other but Bianca says Bruno will end up breaking her heart. Is that what she wants?
At the river Bruno is drinking beer with Gabe. Apparently Tere told Gabe about the Brina romance. He thinks they should have a double wedding. Bruno says there is nothing going on between him and Nina. Gabe thinks Bruno is nervous of talking to Ariel about marriage. Bruno says that’s not the problem. Gabe notes Bruno is sad. When he asks why Bruno says that whatever decision he takes he will end up hurting someone.
Nina is crying in the piano room. Deniz says Nina cried there for days when her mother died. When she asks whats wrong. Nina starts to whine about Bruno and how Bianca told her that he would end up hurting her. Deniz hugs her.
That night Bruno is boxing in his room. He flashes back to when he was about to tell Nina he felt nothing for her. Then he flashes back to how Bianca wants him to spend the night with her. Bruno boxes some more as he flashes back to Ariels blackmail. Either he tells Nina his love for her tonight or he can leave for good.
Bruno is in Biancas room. She is all over him, but Bruno says he will not sleep with her. Bianca asks if he is rejecting her. Bruno says he doesn’t want to hurt her or Nina. Bianca thinks hes just doing it for Nina.
Santi enters Ninas room. Apparently he heard about the Brina romance. Nina says so far she and Bruno have nothing. Santi asks if Nina would like to be with Bruno. Then he says says no matter how hard he tries he cant picture them together.
Bianca gets pissed. She feels like Bruno is choosing Nina over her. Bruno tries to explain to her but Bianca doesn’t listen. She kicks Bruno out of her room.
Bruno enters his bedroom and Ariel blackmails him again. Bruno boxes and then screams in anger. Nina hearing his screams knocks on his door. She tries to get Bruno to talk to her but he doesn’t want to. Nina heads back to her room.
Bianca enters Flavs bedroom. She tells Flav that her scheme has gone too far. If she doesn’t stop Bruno will get kicked out. Flav says that’s even better. No more secret romance for Bianca. Bianca tells Flav that she will make her suffer if she doesn’t stop. She wants her note back. Flav refuses and Bianca searches her closet.
Bruno enters Ninas room and sees the rose he gave her on the graduation dance. Nina is playing the piano as Bruno is ready to leave with his bag full of clothes. Nina stops playing when she sees Bruno and asks him if he was crying over her. Bruno says he has to tell her something. Bruno says it is impossible. Nina says the two of them feel love. Bruno says that she is too innocent and he will hurt her. Nina says he has no way of knowing that. Bianca walks in on the two of them. She wants to know what they are talking about. Bruno leaves. Flav walks in and asks Nina if Bruno confessed his love to her. Bruno is upstairs and heads for his room.
Flav asks Nina to tell her what happened. Nina cant speak. Flav asks Nina about the bag. Was Bruno planning to leave? Nina says she thought that was the case but now shes not sure. Flav takes Nina to her room. Bianca takes the bag and heads to Brunos room. Bianca starts whining to Bruno about his supposed love towards Nina and of course she wont let him explain.
The next morning. Salo and Ariel discuss finding a replacement for Yair. Salo leaves when Flav Bianca and Nina arrive. Bruno shows up and Ariel wants to know what he and Nina talked about last night. Of course Bianca gets sarcastic. Bruno says they did speak. But its not what they think. He tries to leave saying he isn’t a circus animal. Flav says she just wants to celebrate so does Ariel. Nina says they should stay out of their life. Flav is curious but Bianca also tells her to lay off.
Salo is interviewing the 3 new workers (Look its Tarek from Una Maid! Katia already has the hots for him.) The other two men are escorted out by Tere. Salo stops Saul.
At the sea Yair is having a coughing fit. Ramiro tells Yair to help him with something. And also to take medicine lest he coughs out a lung.
Saul has been hired by Salo. It turns out Willy sent him to spy on the clan. Bruno meets Saul. Saul asks him if he would like to be driven. Bruno asks if he is the new “Yair”. The man introduces himself as “Saul Hernandez”. Bruno says he can drive for himself. Saul calls someone to follow Bruno.
Bruno is at the house of horrors unaware that he is being spied on.
Saul asks Santi a few questions. Santi asks him to stop because he made him lose.
Bianca snaps at Salo since the keys are hard to find. Her car is going to taken for an oil change. Salo says Saul can drive her but she snaps that she is taking another car and gripes some more. Saul notes Bianca has a bad temper.
Willy gets information about Bruno then gets a call from Saul. Bianca left he doesn’t know where but he can give Willy the license plate numbers. Willy says he did enough for the day but he needs to keep his eyes peeled.
Nina complains to Deniz (Im guessing about Flav). Deniz gets a call from Yair. Yair explains that the phone is from a friend and not his. Nina asks to borrow the phone. Yair tells Deniz he doesn’t want to talk to her but Nina snatches the phone and asks Yair his reason for leaving.....

Cabo makes it clear to the henchmen that he's the new boss, and Tijeras is second in command. Now it's party time! After the guys leave to set up the party, Tijeras asks whether they should finish off Oscar. Nah, we'll turn him over to the cops, let him rot in jail. Oscar vows revenge if they don't kill him now.
Aurelio tells Ximena he's going to have a talk with Don Cleto. His phone rings, and it's Mónica, who wants to see him, tell him how they had nothing to do with something he's been told they did (Sabino). Aurelio tells Xime it's business, but she knows it's a woman, and asks Turco to tell him the truth. He's sorry but he can't say anything out of loyalty to his boss.
Marco and Leo discuss Sonia. There's really not much on her from the news, she's just a normal woman. They wonder if Ramiro is using her to feed fake info, or if it's some kind of trap. But Marco says when Sonia approached him, he sensed fear. She may really have some valuable info. Leo says her woman's intuition tells her that Sonia's fear means Ramiro is dirty. Marco is shocked, can't be, he's the President's cousin. So what, says Leo, if you're worried about that, go to Benitez with your concerns, he said he'll back you all the way. But for now, why don't you go home and sleep on it? Marco hems and haws, eventually admits he broke up with Eugenia, she told him to take out his stuff. Leo laughs, and you agreed? Don't you see, she's testing you, giving you the option to decide where you want to be. Somehow Marco, being a guy, can't comprehend the workings of the female mind.
Linares also thinks Eugenia made a mistake. He's in a wheelchair now, and as she wheels him through the hospital, she says she's giving Marco the chance to choose what he really wants. Sure, replies Linares, but even though Marco was attracted to Leo, he probably had no intention of sleeping with her. Now that you've cut him off, you're sort of throwing him at her, this gives him the perfect excuse to make his fantasy come true.
Over at Ramiro's house, he suggests that Sonia and their daughter go overseas for a nice long vacation. Nope, she says, I have things to do. Like what? Charity work with the church.
Doris has found a new house for Danny and her to buy, to get away from these problems. No way, says Danny, that would put even more focus on us. But I actually do need your help. Meet with Emma, try to find out what's up with Mejias and Benitez. Doris doesn't think this'll work, but she'll try, and she later calls Emma to meet for coffee.
Chacorta and Matilde have a little roll in the hay. They're smiling, lovers again. He asks about Heriberto, and Mati says he's a super manager, won't let me drink, he's “on top of me all the time”, scares away thugs, he's great. Chacorta is happy. But, adds Mati, I want something bigger. Huh? Not that, I want to go international in my singing career. I want to be the opening act for Alejandro Negrete, go on tour with him! (This is “Alejandrito”, the guy who was recording Mati's record, who was shocked when Turco had that recording engineer killed right in front of him). Just make a call honey, okay? They do call Alejandrito, who looks as if he's swallowed a cow.
And in true telenovela fashion, Leo then suggests to Marco that the way she can get close to Aurelio is by pretending to be a Colombian singer, and she'll let herself get discovered by Alejandro Negrete, that singer who's been sort of guiding the career of Matilde, the wife of Chacorta! Good idea, says Marco.
Aurelio, along with a bunch of guards, goes to Don Cleto's ranch, which is also heavily guarded. They've been expecting him. This is strange, says Aurelio, he usually greets me at the door. We see that Doña Alba is worried about Don Cleto and Aurelio getting mad at each other. After all, Don Cleto retired a while back, but these new events may have changed something. Aurelio enters Don Cleto's place, and there's the Don, taking a swig of tequila, puffing on a stogie, wearing dark glasses, flanked by Heriberto, the two dead Sabino brothers, bloody, chained to bars behind them. Welcome, he says to Aurelio.
Don Cleto says someone had to kill those bums, and that someone was me! Aurelio says you screwed up, old man, I had planned to get all the Villalobos' routes first, and THEN kill them. F* that! Screams Don Cleto, they kidnapped my daughter, and shot her. No routes, no negotiations. You keep thinking of money, of power. But what comes first is FAMILY! Ah, you're just clueless, says Aurelio. No, YOU'RE clueless, you JERK! Aurelio tells Bert to wait outside. He then stares at Don Cleto, don't you EVER talk that way to me again, especially in front of my SON! Oh, what are you gonna do? Break my face, shoots back Cleto. I'll talk whatever the hell way I WANT! Aurelio calms a little, I'll let that go, since you're the grandfather of my kids, but we do things my way now, and look how far I've gotten. Oh yeah, says Cleto, I gave you El Norteño, and he's dead. I gave you El Mudo, and he's dead, and now my daughter gets kidnapped. How much worse can things get? Oh, much worse, replies Aurelio coolly, but it's a good thing you retired, so you won't have to worry about it. Wrong, says Cleto, I haven't retired, I'm taking over again, and you'll just have to deal with it! Don't you forget, you owe everything you are to ME! Fine, says Aurelio, talking quietly, but seething with anger, welcome back, and good luck. Cleto throw down his stogie, now that that's settled, I'm outta here, and you clean up the garbage (the dead guys), it's your problem. He haughtily exits, leaving Aurelio just standing there. Uh oh.
Aurelio has a talk with Bert about sleeping with Mati. Bert first denies, then admits it, but she kept coming on to him. Yeah, women are like snakes, says Aurelio, but you have to resist. But Pa, you've slept with lots of dames, no? Not my aunt! I know I screwed up, says Bert, but please don't tell my uncle. Of course not! But don't let it happen again. Bert is worried, what if Mati tells Chacorta, she's like the devil. Aurelio knows. And I can't believe it, son, with all the women in the world. You're just as horny as your own father! :) Beto and Aurelio then bond a bit, Beto says he really got freaked out when Don Cleto killed those two guys right in front of him. Aurelio recalls when he first saw that stuff, he had nightmares, nausea, but you get used to it. So, Dad, does this mean I'm a full fledged member of the crew now? Not so fast, son. But I do want you near me, so you don't get any wrong ideas from your abuelo. My abuelo is a real tough guy (un fregón), huh, Dad? Aurelio flashes back to Don Cleto saying he was going to come back to power. He sure is, son.
The Colombians are partying down with some babes. Tijeras is concerned, what if some of our guys turn against us, some of them liked Don Oscar. And what happens when Oscar gets out of jail? Don't worry, says Cabo, we just keep these guys stocked with booze and broads, they'll be loyal to us. Well, what about Mexico? Cabo tells him he has that all planned, tomorrow he'll send them a big shipment of primo coke, and then work on public relations. A phone rings. It's Oscar's phone, but was in Tijeras' pocket. Should they answer? Tijeras says let's find out who Cadena was talking to. He answers, and it's Guadalupe. Cabo doesn't tell him what's happening, just says Oscar is not available now, but I'll give him your message. Guad hangs up, tells Roxie he's worried, this is weird. She says Mónica will find out what's happening when she meets with Aurelio.
And now, we have a look at Aurelio the master. How does he explain to Ximena what happened between him and Don Cleto? He says your Dad gave me a dressing down. Because I hadn't killed the Villalobos. Fortunately, he corrected my error, and killed them both (he says quietly). Oh come on, says Ximena, you probably were happy about all this, no? Well, honey, says Aurelio, you know your Dad isn't some babe in the woods (blanca palomita), he's gutsy. And he's decided he's back in the business, too. To really teach me the lesson, he killed the guys in front of Heriberto, gutsy, huh? No way, says Xime. Way, says AC. You know I owe everything to your Dad (repeating the words from earlier), and he taught me everything. And now, he's teaching Heriberto. He gives the shocked Ximena a tender kiss on the cheek, and goes to bed.
Well, not really, Cabo has called, and Turco passes the phone to Aurelio. Cabo fills him in. You're talking to the new boss. Cadena? Shot, arrested, he's the past. Tomorrow, I'm sending you a big load (Cabo looks at the big boobs of the skimpily dressed hooker next to him as he says this).
It's late, Ramiro's going to bed. The phone rings. Sonia answers, yes Father? Can I make an appointment with the Cardinal? In the other room, Ramiro heard this, huh? But also, the cops have bugged the line, and are recording this!
So, says Turco, what's up with the Colombians? Aurelio tells him, Cabo's the new boss, and I don't think we'll have trouble with Oscar, I trust Cabo's judgment, I think he'll be good for us. But, asks Turco, what about Don Cleto? Ah, him. Well, mí Turcalito, I'm going to let Don Cleto get real comfy. I'm going to let him think he's the boss. And then......I'm gonna make him PAY!
Hombre, you've outdone yourself with this superb recap!! Muchísimas gracias otra vez.
I can't think of anything important that you haven't covered. I enjoyed watching the two alpha males, Don Cleto and Aurelio, going at each other. Interestingly, the claim that Don Cleto makes--that everything Aurelio has is thanks to him--is very similar to what Danny says to Doris, except that according to Danny it's Danny, not Don Cleto, who is responsible for everything Aurelio has and is.
I have one question about what you've said, Hombre. When I saw the scene where someone is recording and listening to the conversation between Sonia and, presumably, the priest, I thought it was Ramiro's buddies who had tapped the phone, not the cops. Indeed, in an earlier episode, didn't Ramiro or Huerta say that they should do so? The guy who was doing the listening didn't look familiar to me. If it was the cops, I'd have thought that either Orejas or Ponte would be listening.
Great Hombre
Wow, what an episode. Aurelio is going to do in his own suegro! I can understand Cleto being upset about his daughter but Aurelio is right, get the info 1st, & it wasn't Aurelio's fault Ximena got kidnapped, it was her fault . I thought Cleto was just trying to keep Aurelio from doing a slaughter of the whole Villalobos family & starting a war. That will happen anyway I suppose.
Clever Aurelio, Ximena will not be happy with her padre involving Berto in the dirty business.
In the Chacorta, Matilde romp, I noticed an eye tattooed on Chacorta's back.
Glad it's the cops taping Sonia, I thought it was Ramiros's buddies.
Now that I think about it, I hope it's Marco taping Sonia, not Gen Dan.
One more question. When Leo and Marco were discussing a plan to infiltrate the Casillas clan, didn't Leo propose that she do so by getting close to Heriberto. I think I recall her saying that if Heriberto is as horny as his father, that should be easy. Was that idea dismissed, or did that turn out to be the way they'd get to Alejandro Negrete, via Heriberto, who of course manages Mati?
Hombre - thank you for the wonderful recap. For some reason, CC doesn't work for us right after commercial breaks, so I frequently miss big chunks of dialogue. Thanks for filling in the blanks for me.
Meeting with the priest seems to have given Sonia a shot of courage. I wonder if her standing up to Ramiro will be her undoing, though. It sounded to me like he'd have her killed in a New York minute.
I hear the clock ticking for Cleto. The Villalobos will take the blame for whatever happens to Cleto now.
AC is the master! Ximena will ask both Beto and Turk about her father killing Juan and Sabino and find out that AC told her the truth. I can't feel too bad for her; all along she's refused to acknowledge her father's behavior.
The Colombians continue to entertain. I was surprised that Cabo insisted Oscar go to prison. That's a big loose end.
Alejandrito has got to be thinking of how to pass Mati on to some other "big producer".
I just LOL'd when Leo told Marco that Eugenia was testing him. But I wonder what's on the dinner menu….
Beth
Juanita, you definitely see details I miss. Now that I think of it, I have no idea who was taping Sonia's call. I do remember in a previous episode somebody said let's bug some phones, but can't remember who. You may be right, maybe Castro and Huerta, or Danny!
As for the idea of Leo getting close to Bert, again, you're right. They did discuss this, but then ruled it out, so that now Leo is just going to go directly to Alejandrito.
I think.
Thank you for the recap, NovelaMan, especially with such an awful episode.
Ay, Ay, Ay, a while ago I couldn't wait for an episode to start, I couldn't wait for Bruno to make another attempt at winning Bianca, while punching his boxing bag or just hanging around the house, hot&gorgeous.
Now I'm dreading every episode and whenever Bruno is on screen, some stupidity is coming out of his mouth.
What was that talk with Nina? "This is forbidden"....and he was crying? No wonder Nina thinks he is in love with her. I never thought I'd say this, but I'm starting to feel sorry for Nina, too - she thinks he loves her because he never made the effort to deny this, but he still rejects her, why?
Why did he not get his bag and leave? He has a place to stay, didn't he suggest Bianca to wait out some time, for her relationship to Ariel to cool off? So, what's the problem in leaving the house?
With all of Bruno's lack of cojones, now I'm positive Bianca has lost her da.mn mind, too. What was that request, for Bruno to stay with her in her room, in Ariel's bed? And she had crazy eyes, not Bianca crazy, certified crazy.
If I were her I would just pack up my bags and leave the house immediately. Ariel would give her enough money, she could still work with those charities...I don't know, anything is better that this sick situation she's in. And, on the extra plus side, Flavia would have to leave, too.
At this point it's only a matter of time until Bruno and Nina become and item, but with Willy tracing their steps so closely (how psycho is this man, anyway?), how long before he finds out the big B&B secret?
Oh, and even gone, Yair is still to present for my liking.
thanks so much Hombre,
a good part of this show goes right over my head, but your recaps make it all so simple and smooth, you are very good at this, and appreciated,
I've been struggling with that word, fregón/fregada, whatever, but a dictionary I have has a def. for fregarse: to screw up, so I have been going with that one.
btw, in checking this out I went back to a Colombian slang page I stumbled upon earlier and it had the word 'paquete' (package), remember when Aurelio was kidnapped and they wanted 4 packages, I was thinking it was maybe those cellophane wrapped bundles that they make with U.S. dollars but I guess it is an actual figure, "one million Colombian pesos",
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colombian_Spanish
another word I've been struggling with is "bato", but just found a good def,
Bato: a Spanish slang term that originated in Sinaloa, Mexico that is a rough equivalent of "Dude". Its most common in Northern Mexico and by Hispanic immigrants in the United States.
(some other defs for it here)
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Bato
great show all around, Aurelio really is the master when it comes to dealing with people, it's amazing to just watch him, and Beto is doing such a wonderful job of stumbling along through his teenage years, Matilde doesn't look like one to have girlfriends, especially ones that are better looking than her like Leo, so Beto might be the key here, on Sonia's phone call, Ramiro at first looked nervous when the phone rang but then kind of dismissed it when it was the padre, but then stopped short to listen when he was out of site, so... I let it hang till the next show to see who was listening in.
thanks NovelaMan,
your recaps really help me out,
and for your comments as well Adriana Noel,
wow, since Ariel moved to the taller, the Bruno/Bianca relationship has moved to a whole new level,
I couldn't believe that Bianca insisted he sleep with her, in her room, in her bed, where Bruno would have to physically take Ariel's place and they would surely be caught, but then again, I think Bianca is just getting desperate for Bruno to declare their love to the world, and once again he does nothing, it's driving her NUTS,
I actually thought Bruno's solution was the best for all, that he do the Yair thing, and disappear,
(maybe get a job on the same boat, cough, cough, share some lost love stories)
but he loves this family so much, and Ariel's ultimatum is forcing him to act, and, and,
...he is just tearing himself apart,
and still does nothing,
and then when Flavia, Bianca, Ariel surrounded him and Nina, I felt so sorry for him,
it's hard to imagine the control this guy has over women, when he is looking so small,
the way these guys are I think it works like this, Brunos inaction drives Bianca nuts, who then starts digging at Bruno, who takes it up to a point and then strikes back with something that will hurt her, like marrying Neeena, (great name AnotherAmy)
so what was Bianca's deal with the car keys, they were in her purse,
and now the persistent Guillermo is infiltrating the Piamontes,
this guy is like an incurable disease.
Deb, like you I've been kept busy trying to understand a lot of the slang (as well as lots of ordinary words that I should know but don't). In addition to the Urban Dictionary that you mentioned, here are some resources I've at times found useful.
For me, the very best resource for Spanish of all sorts, including slang, is WordReference.com. It has a large bi-lingual dictionary, but what sets it apart from all other resources that I know is that at the end of every entry, it includes links whenever possible to invaluable discussions of the word or phrase that have taken place on the WordReference.com forums. It's an AMAZING site!! Here's a link to where you can put in Spanish words or phrases you'd like to know about:
http://www.wordreference.com/es/en/translation.asp?spen=
Here, alphabetically, are some other sources, all focused on slang:
Alternative Spanish Dictionary
Diccionario Breve de Mexicanismos
Glosario de Mexicanismos - This originated to help people with Arturo Pérez-Reverte's novel La Reina del Sur. I think that's what the page numbers refer to.
TuBabel - If you wish, you can search by Spanish-speaking country (click on the appropriate flag)

Antonia remains cool, then leaves, but is stopped by Balmy,
she paints a vanilla picture with her as the victim,
and walks away, he follows,
Anibal gets his second visitor, Alejandro,
who leans over his bed and rips into him as well,
Anibal is geting no sympathy cards on this stay,
Lucho can't get the safe opened,

these two are driving her NUTS,
and she loves it,

and they do the silent face talk thingy as Antonia puts the moves on Balmy,
Antonia fakes a faint to fall in his arms,
and then smiles at him,
Balmy finally leaves (could someone help me with his explanation for leaving)
Lucho gets out and Irene plays innocent to Antonia who immediately senses something is up and goes to the safe room,
but sees nothing out of place,
Veronica swings by the hospital and relieves Alejandro who is on Lucia watch,
her and Lucia really click,
talk about Alejandro and Duende,
Lucho makes it back to Veronica's
the always a loner Lucho, tells Gastón, you guys are my family,
Gastón has a warm smile,
Irene stops by the hospital to look over Lucia, who is sleeping,
she is surprised to see Veronica there,
they chat,
Antonia gets permission to see Anibal,
he writes her a check, tells of his offshore money stash,
she promises to get him a lawyer (what's wrong with her money)
Balmy stops in, Antonia leaves,
and he starts interrogating Anibal,
he goes into convulsions (a beached whale getting some or Gertrudis' electroshock)
everything goes flying,
Gabriela and Francisca talk about Irene over tea,
later Francisca shows up in Lucia's room, introduces herself, brings some fresh cooked sweets,
(oh wow, wouldn't it be nice if Francisca cures Lucia, but I guess that's not the plan)
she takes the opportunity to take Irene's hand and look deep into her eyes,
outside the room she checks in with Gabriela,
(I think Irene got a passing grade, can someone help me with this)
Macario tells Antonia, ex-senator Anibal's check is no good,
his accounts are frozen,
Patti and Irene chat nicely on the sofa in Lucia's room,

it's an exact copy of the wedding dress Patti wore when she wed,
the one Irene threw at Gabriela, that she wore for four years in the catacumba,
Irene is impactada,
Irene has to leave the room so Lucia can't see her turmoil,
Patti follows with card that fell out of the box,
it is a letter from GABRIELA...
thanks Juanita,
I'll check them out,
I've had no education in Spanish so I pretty much just stumble around, but let me share a trick if you don't already know this one, for a dictionary I use 'google search', type in the word, phrase, acronym,,,,
followed by "def" which google interprets as definition. This works pretty well especially with the weird stuff.
Thanks, deb, for the Google tip. I've found that often just putting the word or phrase in Google without adding anything will turn up definitions, but I suspect your suggestion will cut out a lot of irrelevant hits. I'll certainly try it. Muchas gracias!
Deb, excellent recap, thank you for taking the time to give us your very nice summary, and great comments!
I sort of think Francisca said Irene is okay, but Gaby has to tread carefully, it's not totally decided yet. The music sort of sounded a bit threatening to me, but I think that's what she told Gaby.
I'm sure Antonia has money, but she had to use the $2 million Anibal gave her last week to repay the stock losses she had with Valentina's account, I think. And since Anibal is the one accused, and he's sort of incapacitated, he should pay for his legal defense/bribery fund, but Antonia has to take care of it for him, so that's why he had to pay her, I guess. Too bad the accounts are frozen.
But since she told him just deny, deny, deny, it's not totally assured that Constanza will win her case, although she does have some pretty good evidence.
Lucho said he was hoping to find Valentina's will in the safe, they all think it'll give the money to Antonia, but Antonia outfoxed them a little by making it also go to Alejandro and David. On the other hand, based on what David and Alejandro know, isn't it obvious that they didn't write it, and that Valentina didn't write it? Maybe not, again it's Antonia's word against theirs.
It was a little strange for Gaby to write that letter to Irene, forgiving her. But I guess this way, it's less of a shock when Gaby reveals herself, and it's another sort of test of whether Irene has really changed.
I liked when Irene said something to Lucho like "I don't know why a keep falling for the wrong guys. I fell for Alejandro, and that never worked, although now we're friends, and now I've fallen for you, but you still are hung up on Veronica, so I'm still out of luck, right?" But Lucho, although he didn't say anything, is acting as if he's not obsessed with Vero anymore, and maybe, just maybe could commit to Irene, although he's not ready to admit it!
Thanks for the great recap NovelaMan! And yes, I do think "Saul" is the same actor that played Tarek on UnaMaid. I enjoyed him in that, he plays a great sleazy character! Meanwhile I feel like Bruno's integrity (what was left of it) is melting away before our eyes. I agree with whoever said that Santi is the only normal decent human being in that house.
J in Oregon
Thanks, Deb. Great recap, you had me LOL at so many of your comments. My fav is "he goes into convulsions (a beached whale getting some of Gertrudis' electroshock) everything goes flying."
Just before Balmy left Antonia's, he told her (according to CC) that he would love to make love to her, but he was not going to, that as a man, he was afraid of her and what she could do to him. I'm not remembering exactly what she responded.
After talking with Gabriela, Francisca took a gift of sweets/tamales(?) to Lucia in the hospital. Fran took Irene's hand and looked into her eyes and then quickly left the room and called Gabriela. She told Gaby that Irene had indeed changed, but that Gaby had to still be careful and test Irene (before trusting her). I'm sure the wedding dress and the letter are the test.
As much as I (still) dislike Irene, it is good to see the sisters becoming closer with their kids playing together and Paty supporting Irene and Lucia.
Hombre, thank you for clarifying. I did not realize that Lucho was looking for Val's will.
When Anibal told Antonia in the hospital that they were cornered, didn't she say there was no evidence against her, implying that Anibal would be the only one charged with crimes?
Beth
interesting gossip from wiki,
Dama y Obrero, June 24, 2013, following Pasión Prohibida
Marido En Alquiler, July 15, 2013, following La Patrona
Bianca's facebook page,
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Bianca-Santillana/540907069254931
and what does she say,
"Sólo quise hacer pagar por sus errores a mi madre... nunca pretendí hacer daño a nadie más..."
"Las dudas me atormentan... no hay peor incendio que el que quema mi cabeza..."
"Si no vas a ser para mí, no serás para nadie..."
"Cobarde, como todos los hombres..."
thanks Hombre,
and Beth, so grateful for answering my questions,
I really love your posts,
this is a gran novela, I wish I was better with the recaps,
so, I didn't really get what Gabriela said to Irene,
as Hombre indicated, did Gabriela forgive her,
wow, I missed that.
Deb, thanks very much for the info about what's upcoming on Telemundo. I hope you'll post this also on CarayCaray's Próximas page.
Deb, thank you for the update.
If Dama Y Obrero starts on June the 24th, that means Pasion Prohibida only has 3 weeks left - 15 episodes.
Wow, I knew they are in the ultimos capitulos, but now we actually have a finale date.
I have to admit I'm relieved, I'm not sure I'd be able to endure to much of Bruno and Neeeeeena together - a minute seems like an eternity, anyway.
Going by Bianca's FB posts, she is slowly losing her mind. When she says 'If I can't have you, nobody will'...could she try to harm Bruno? Or pull a Romeo and Juliet, kill him and then kill herself? (well, not exactly what R&J did, but you get the idea)?
Beth, you're right, Antonia told Anibal that there's no evidence against her, only against him. How nice of her!
Deb, I think in the letter that was left with the dress, Gaby forgave Irene. But they didn't really finish that scene, they'll probably replay it again and clarify it on Monday.
Biancas jealousy is gettin to her i think. I get the feeling if Bruno gets more romantic with Nina Bianca will use physical violence on her to keep Bruno to herself.
Ill miss this novela when it ends. Again im plannin to watch MARIDO EN ALQUILER (It has the better cast imo) but probably wont recap.
Here a a few pasion prohibida examples ive seen in other novelas:
Bruno Caceres and Elisa Altamira
Jose Angel and Ricardo de la Fuente
Benjamin Morande and Tatiana Wood
Amanda(Flor) and Pablo Aguilar
and who could forget Mauricio Blanco and Miranda Cruz?
Juanita, those novela dates are from wiki and so could mean anything, and as far as I know Telemundo hasn't made any announcements, so I hate to spread rumors.
but they do look in the ballpark, don't they.
Between the cops taping Sonia's call and her mentioning Marco's name in a call while meeting with the priest, we can (hopefully) be sure the priest will meet up with Marco to exchange info, assuming Sofia doesn't make it. I have less high hopes for her survival.
Re. Cabo being fine with Oscar going to prison. Seems like arrogance might be getting the better of him. Surely Oscar still has money and contacts that will back him in a revenge plan. Bad move, Cabo. What are the chances he'll upgrade the track suit to a suit-suit? If he's going to be the boss man, he needs to dress the part.
Kelly
Deb and Hombre - CC did say "I forgive you" at the end of Gabriela's letter to Irene. Irene then put it together that Vero is Gaby and said something like - 'it's been her all along'.
Now, putting on my thinking cap, I believe all of Coni's papers that Macario brought back from the (dead) lawyer in D.F. are in Antonia's possession. Maybe Lucho will come across them the next time he goes safe-cracking.
That little scene with Lucho telling Gaston that Coni, Gabriela and Gaston are now his family was very touching. Lucho and Gaston are like two lonely guys who have finally been adopted and have bonded as brothers.
Beth
thanks so much Beth, for sorting out Gabriela's letter for us,
ah, Coni's evidence against Anibal, didn't Antonia say these need to be destroyed, but we never saw her doing it,
also in the safe should be Antonia's evidence against Poncia,
and the true documents on the Chamuca mine,
and maybe her collection of wedding rings,
Gastón can sure say a lot with that warm smile he has,
worked pretty good on Francisca,
interesting that the only things Anibal has in this world,
are his hospital gown and his checkbook,
things aren't looking too good when your only friend is Antonia.
Thanks a lot NovelaMan for Friday's recap of the the "Brina" non-romance and related fall-out.
What about "Brinca" for Bruno/Bianca romance as Bianca loses her mind. Yes AdrianaNoel, "crazy eyes."
deb, I always appreciate your poetic style! And thanks for the wiki date info and your comment Bruno "looking so small." So true.
Is Yair's cough [returning to the family, more home remedies, etc.] gonna lead to Nina realizing Yair is the man for her? Nina's face really lit up at the end of the epi when he called.
Clara
In Don Cletos tirade he kept saying a word that was bleeped, the captions have it as ch---, 5 letters, anyone know what it is?
Variopinta- Likely "chinga" (aka the "f" word).
I finally caught up yesterday. Hombre, thank you so much for the recap. Not much more to add, but ITA with you all about how clever AC is (turning Ximena against her father), and that this war between AC and Don Cleto will not be pretty.
Cabo already seems to be getting too big for his britches. Let's see if he has enough intelligence and cunning to run the show in Colombia.
Guadalupe is a dead man, but I am surprised he's lasted this long. Who knows, he just might keep surprising me and survive.
Sonia is also high up on the death watch list, especially now that her book is in someone else's hands.
Tks Vivi, I'm sure that's it.
Cabo was dumb not killing Oscar, these guys are powerful even in jail.
We know Aurelio will come out on top with Don Cleto & he can tell Ximena it was revenge by the Villalobos family.
Aurelio is going to be very busy, so many people to off.
Uffff. I do NOT like the direction this is going. It's getting dark, Bianca's getting crazy eyes, Bruno's back pedaling, Nina's still annoying, and Yair is still crying (and coughing blood).
I actually have been feeling sorry for Bruno... sure he's having a hard time stepping up, but he's being pulled in so many moral directions and the fact that he's paralyzed by all of this at least shows he's worried about who's going to get hurt. I really don't think it has much to do with losing the financial support and cushy living, he truly seems tortured by the thought that he could devastate the "family" that he's been a part of for so long. His totally misleading treatment of Nina is annoying as mierda though--I mean who strokes their prima that much? Bleck. It's really no wonder Nina thinks what she thinks.
Anyway, I hope something happens to lighten things up a bit... don't know that I can take much more of this despair. Doesn't look like a pretty ending :(
Irene, having realized that Gabriela sent her the wedding dress and letter and has been pretending to be Verónica Dantés all this time, comes to La Fortaleza to most pitifully beg Gabriela’s pardon.
Ricardo shows up for another “session” with Inés. I had some Pepto Bismol at the ready for this. We can see that someone is photographing this encounter.
Alejandro has asked Lucho and Gastón to come to the bank to meet with him. Lucho looks like $1 million in his nice suit with his hair slicked back. Sigh. If only he’d shave. Ale tells them what’s worrying him: Temo que mi madre salga airosa de todo eso [that she’ll come through this unscathed]. Ale’s idea is that Gastón should go see Chacón and see if he’ll testify against her.
Antonia comes to yell at Balmaceda about Aníbal’s bank accounts being frozen. Connie appears to say that all of Aníbal’s money is not his; it’s what he stole from her. Guerra shows her forked tongue, telling Constanza that she’s only saying all these things because Aníbal never loved her.
Irene is on her knees sobbing. She tells Vero that she needs her forgiveness because she’s afraid that her evil actions will cause her daughter to die. She offers to go to Balmaceda and confess that she lied in court about Gabriela. She says that she always knew the guilty one was Antonia; that Antonia herself told her. Gaby reminds her that perjury is a serious crime.
In the end Veronica tells Irene that it isn’t the right time. For one thing Irene would be in jail when Lucía most needs her. And Antonia would probably wiggle out of it anyway. Irene suggests that Luz, her father’s girlfriend, might know something. This reminds Vero that Estrella, who testified against Max, also might be worth looking up.
Inés asks Ricardo when he’ll stop being guilty about making love with her. He coldly tells her what just happened was not making love, just sex. He again tells her he loves Patti, and this is something he doesn’t feel for her and never will. After he leaves, Macario appears with a camera in hand. When Inés asks if he got a good shot of Ricardo’s face, he replies that he did, and all of her as well. He does a world-class leer and doesn’t really want to give up the camera. But she gets it away from him and says she’ll give his boss the pictures.
Ricardo again confides in Alejandro that he can’t stop betraying Patti with Inés. He says the whole thing is killing him because, if Patti finds out, she’ll divorce him. And he can’t live without her. Alejandro tells him this woman sounds dangerous, using people like a psychopath.
Said psychopath brings the pictures to Antonia who cackles lasciviously at the sight of her godson in flagrante. She asks Antonia what good these pictures are going to do her. Guerra tells her Ricardo will be all hers when these pictures break up the marriage. [Watching these two talking, I had an image of two snakes with their forked tongues flicking in and out.]
Chacón broods in his cell about Antonia having shot him to save Balmaceda. But when Gastón comes to visit trying to get him to testify against Antonia, he’s too worried someone will kill him in prison. He might do it, if they give him his freedom. Gastón says, of course, he can’t get that for him.
Vero tells Ale that Irene knew that Antonia ordered the mine explosion. He can’t believe it! She also tells him about Irene coming to the prison to torture her with the news of her wedding and pregnancy. Alejandro thanks Vero for sparing Irene, mostly for Lucía’s sake; but she reminds him she won’t be all that good when his mother’s turn comes.
Antonia comes to see Lucía loaded with presents. She gets in some digs at Patti and then at Irene. She airily tells Irene that the person hasn’t been born who can get the best of her. After she leaves, Patti says to herself: ¡Por supuesto ya nació la horma de sus zapatos, Antonia Guerra! (to meet one’s match).
Francisca, in her kitchen, is telling Cecilia that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. She’s teaching Ceci to make some of David’s favorites; this time it’s chiles rellenos. Fran tells Ceci that Max and Tigre are right there in the kitchen; she can sense them. She says that Tigre wants to tell her something. Then she doubles over with terrible pain.
At the club Patti is preparing to give her stump speech for the presidency of the club, when shitty little Lucas shows up, smirking as always, and gives her the envelope from La Patrona.
Francisca is drinking tea in bed and swears Ceci to secrecy about her pain. She says she will see a doctor. But she again grimaces with pain when Ceci leaves the room.
Constanza and Vero tell Patti not to open the envelope. Nothing good can come from Antonia Guerra. But, of course, she takes out the pictures. Patti is dissolving in tears. She says that her husband lied to her, saying he’d broken it off. Constanza tries to stick up for her baby boy, saying that Patti did it first. Patti says it’s not the same thing. She always told him the truth, and he didn’t have to see her in someone else’s arms.
A brief recap, because nothing new happened, we still go in circles, waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Yair and Nina talk on the phone, but again he doesn't manage to open his mouth and tell her how he feels.
But Nina has bigger problems, anyway, because she's upset with Bianca for telling her that Bruno would only end up hurting her, so she better just stay away from him. She goes with Deniz to Francisca's ranch, but once there she becomes hysterichal when Francis tells her that she doesn't believe in Bruno's love, either. So, she faints, because the whole uncertainity is really doing a number on her nerves (and at this point I feel a lot of simpathy for her, which I didn't expect - but Bruno is sending her so many mixed signals that even a more experienced girl would get messed up in the head).
In the meantime, B&B have another round of fighting at his place; she says she wants him to assume their relationship and speak up, he can't; now it's not only because of Ariel, but he could never stand to hurt Nina; he is so consumed with this idea, that Bianca starts to wonder how long will it be before he actually gets married to his cousin, even if Bruno repeats on and on that he is being cornered by her mother and that they have to stop Flavia.
After Bianca leaves, Deniz calls him, telling him about Nina's faint and urging him to man up and speak with the girl once and for all, tell her how he really feels (or doesn't feel).
Bruno does come while Nina is on the verge of crying again, but don't hold your breath for the clearing things up, part. He goes on and on about never hurting her and what not, but the words : "I don't love you" never come out of his mouth. In the evening Nina even falls asleep in his lap, so when Yair calls her to talk, Bruno answers.
Later on Deniz speaks with him again and Nina overhears everything, but again nothing comes out of it: he doesn't want to hurt Nina, blah blah.... when will this ever end?
The next day he has a huge fight with Bianca, accusing her of hurting his precious, innocent cousin. Bianca defends herself saying that she only wanted Nina to know that she can't trust Bruno, but oh, how dare she tell those words to Saint Nina? Long story short, Bruno storms off after warning her not to mess with Nina again, while Bianca is left crying.
Later on Bruno goes to Nina's room, they start talking without saying anything for the 100th time; Nina is uspet and tired of all this back and forth; so she starts ripping the petals of the rose he'd given her on prom night.
The perfect cue for Bianca to come in and show Bruno the locket Nina is wearing - it appears to be the necklace Bruno had given her, that she'd broken the night before after fighting with him. So I guess Bruno now has Bianca's disguted approval...and honestly, I want him to say that he loves Nina already, so we can all move forward.
In other news, Willy continues his master plan to stick it to the Piamontes; he receives a copy of the speeding ticket Bianca got while coming back from seeing Bruno (via Saul) and something will surely come out of that. Also, with Silvia's help, he sets up Flavia for a big fall, by introducing her to a so called rich guy, who will most definitely cause trouble (but as long as it's Flavia, I'm rooting for Willy with this part of his vengeance).
Also, once again, Santi proves that he is the smartest person in the family by warning Ariel that Saul is not a good guy, he gets a bad vibe from him - but you wouldn't expect Ariel to actually use his brain for a change, do you?
AnotherAmy, I agree with you that Bruno is cornered and the situation is not easy for him; but, just like you notice, too, one thing is to hurt Ariel by exposing the affair and a completely different story is what he's doing with Nina; honestly, I feel very bad for her, because if he had talked to her from the beginning, told her he only cares about her as a family member, none of this would have happened; but he never gathered the courage to speak up - if he couldn't settle the story straight when it was mostly a rumour, he won't be able to do a da.mn thing now, when everybody is waiting for wedding bells.
Clara, I think Nina and Yair made a great pair, but I don't think the writers will go there; honestly, I think Bruno and Nina have good chemistry, too, but Nina has acted like a total brat for to long, she's not believable as a grown woman. And next to Bianca she will always look like a little girl.
thanks so much novelera,
looks like futbol tonight and Friday,
(but there maybe a new Pasión Prohibida Friday)
I did see a Telemundo promo yesterday for La Patrona announcing "ultimas semanas",
now that Irene has been forgiven, she seems more vulnerable some how, so now she worries me, Antonia really is the master at pulling the rug out from under people,
Macario and his "world-class leer" ha!, I thought he would at least make an appointment,
I thought Lagarto was bending a little when it came to some Antonia revenge, but...
yes, Lucho with Gastón's old hair, and a suit, what was that all about, and they all looked like bankers in Alejandro's office, seemed odd with Alejandro-come-lately making decisions on Veronica's revenge,
Francisco talking about her dead friends sure had Cecilia looking around, and her earlier talk of dying and now this gut pain, I don't know what to think, Francisca always seems to be locked into the worried/tormented thing,
I think Patti looked at the paquete just to spite Antonia, but she looked really crushed.
thanks so much Adriana Noel!
it looks like futbol tonight and Friday,
but there may be a new show on Friday,
Bianca can be pretty feisty, didn't she rip the locket off after being disgusted with Bruno, and then left it on a table in the mansion, and later Tere recovers it and brings it back to her in her room, that seemed pretty careless since the locket has Bruno's picture in it, (they must do stuff like that just to get us worried too), I wonder who's pictures are in the locket now,
Neena is getting better with her faints, lots of practice I guess, but now that everyone is ready for her, someone is usually now there to catch her, I miss the thumps,
Flavia seems like a very intelligent and capable person, but she sure seems to have some major faults, I think she really does like Ivan, certainly has to keep him on a string, not even a hooker, but I guess as far as the upper class goes, he just doesn't cut it, but then I guess this new guy does, just because he has money, and Guillermo just oozes slime, Elianna is probably still covered with the stuff, so what is this new guy, an actor, and Silvia, a best friend for never, this should be interesting.
We now know that it was Huerta and Castro who bugged Ramiro's home phone, with his permission. They discuss what calls were made, and mainly, Sonia just called to confirm her appointment with the Cardinal. We then see her meet with him (she calls him Eminencia), and giving him the little black book. He's not sure what to do either, is going to ask the Vatican. Wow! I think he's going to travel there. While they're talking, Ramiro calls, threatens her. She confirms to the Cardinal it was her husband threatening. He asks if there's anyone else she's told this to. She says yes, one official (Marco), but he doesn't know any details. She tells the Cardinal her life is in his (the Cardinal's) hands.
Benitez enters where Ramiro, Huerta and Castro having been talking, why the long faces, boys? He wants to start his probe. They ask what about General Danny? Nah, he's out fighting drugs, we don't have to include him (either Benitez totally trusts Danny, or he's purposely omitting him, I can't tell).
Emma visits Eugenia, who hopes that Marco slept at Emma's house last night. Nope. Emma's hears about the break up. Later, Linares repeats that Eugenia's giving Marco too much rope. She responds by saying I don't want a halfway committed guy. Either he's with me totally, or not.
As a matter of fact, he's not. Leo and Marco tease each other a bit, then have hot sex and spend the night at her apartment. In the morning, he's loving, excited about their relationship. She's not, says it was just sex, no love, and she sleeps with whomever she wants, whenever. And they aren't going to do it again. Yeah, right.
Aurelio, in his plane, explains his various plans to Turco. We already know the Cleto plan, let him think he's boss, then bury him (literally!). As for the Villalobos clan, Turco points out they have lots more members who might want revenge, first says they could pin it on Cleto, but
Aurelio knows that won't work. He suggests Topo can be some kind of intermediary.
How about the Robles? Aurelio is going to meet with Mónica, make her think everything is just lovey dovey, than bring down the hammer on THAT family! Uh oh. We later see Mónica has bought a new outfit for this important meeting, which Guadalupe helpfully reminds her not to screw up.
And the Colombians? They've sent a huge shipment of coke to Aurelio, and I'm still not sure what's going to happen with this arrangement. I do think Aurelio hints he might just have Oscar killed himself, doesn't like loose ends.
As we guessed, Ximena is not happy with her Dad's killing of the Villalobos, especially in front of Bert. Cleto says I'll do WHATEVER to protect my family! He then insults Aurelio, and Doña Alba gets mad at him. Yes, this is going just the way Aurelio wanted.
I sort of thought Chacorta was living at Aida's place, but since I didn't see her, maybe he has a mountain hideout of his own. Mati is there, they're all in love again, and Bert arrives. Chacorta is out of the room, Bert tells Mati we've got to stop this foolishness! Chacorta enters, what foolishness? Oh, says Mati, I was just drinking a little too much on tour, and Bert is such a good manager, he stopped me. Chacorta is reassured. Good boy, let's have a drink (he and Bert, but not Mati!). He tells Chacorta about the plans with Alejandro Negrete.
So Leo is going undercover. But how can she just quit and go to Colombia? She and Marco stumble into the office, right in front of Danny, yelling at each other at the top of their lungs. She: How could you put that ad in the paper, when people would get killed?! Him: Well, you didn't say anything before! She: I can't work with you, one of us has to go! He: Well, I quit! Nice little bit of theater, huh. Leo also quits, she's going back to Colombia. Danny pulls Marco aside, looks him right in the eye, says, I'm no dummy. That was some nice little bit of phony theatrics. Now can you please tell me what's REALLY going on?
No show tonight (soccer), but it looks as if Wednesday, we'll finally see Leo in her new slutty/sexy undercover outfit. I can't wait!
Great recap, Novelera! And I especially like your inclusion of the Spanish expressions. I did learn another word last night. When Gaston went to meet with Lagarto, there was a sign saying "locutorio". Turns out it means phone booth, as the visitors talked with the prisoners on little phones. A phone booth can also be called a caseta telefónica. Of course, as we know, with so many cellphones, actual phone booths are almost extinct!
So Lagarto won't talk, although he certainly would like to somehow get back at Antonia. I have a feeling Luz and Estrella will also be afraid to talk. Lucas was no help when he was jailed. Maybe Aníbal or Macario? Doubtful. They really need to come up with some trap for Antonia.
It looks as if that July 24th date for the next show may be right, since if they announce últimas semanas, that often means about 7 weeks. But not always.
hola pasionistas (thanks J in Oregon for that one; love it)!! I haven't been watching since the N/Bruno thing started. I will wait til this is all over (soon, thankfully) and join you in the grand finale.
In the meantime, I found another diversion in........
Pasión de GAVILANES (on mun2)....
never seen it before now, and am totally enchanted with the show, and the 3brothers, esp Michel Brown (first sighting of him was La Mariposa). So far, it's amusing, entertaining, charming, light, and breezy. loving the Sara/Franco pairing.
thanks so much Hombre!
it looks like where I live there will be a special on El Señor de los Cielos tonight, behind the scenes stuff, something that has already aired, also it looks like the only show on Friday will be Pasión Prohibida,
I wasn't really getting any of the Aurelio strategy talk, grateful that you sorted that all out, Aurelio is an interesting guy and it really helps to know how he thinks,
Beto looks ready to stand at his dad's side, but Aurelio is holding him off, but how will he ever untangle himself from the web that Matilde's weaves,
can we completely rule out Benitez as being corrupt, I'm wondering if he thinks Danny is straight and is looking for some corrupt guys to go into business with,
the cardinal business will be interesting, in Mexican history, wasn't there a Padre that was responsible for one of the revolutions, but I don't think the Vatican was impressed,
http://latinamericanhistory.about.com/od/independenceinmexico/tp/09hidalgoandindependence.htm
(more on this guy elsewhere, how he was excommunicated and executed)
wow, a rare guy Marco, has a hard time with sex without love, but on the other hand, Eugenia who,
haha, Cabo and Tijera with their high five butt slaps.
Marco seems to have his hands full with two very different women. Eugenia wants him to be committed totally or not at all, whereas Leo claims she simply wanted to sleep with him and nothing more. I don't believe Leo: she was the one who was tossing and turning in her bed, upset that Marco was unavailable. I had the feeling then that she was very attracted to him, and not just for sex. Now suddenly she's claiming all she wanted was a one-night stand. Huh? Perhaps this is her strategy for increasing his interest in her?
Hombre, I think Benitez fell for Danny's indignant hissy fit when Benitez questioned him. Remember that Benitez crossed Danny's name off what I assume is a list of suspects. So now he's moving on to Ramiro, Huerta, and Castro. And yes, Deb, at least for now, I'm buying that Benitez is not currupt.
As for Chacorta, didn't he move out of Aida's house after Mati raised hell there?
You're right, Adriana Noel, about Bruno's prolonging thing being worse than ripping the bandaid right off. I predict we're going to get dangerously close (if not all the way) to a Nina/Bruno wedding--judging from the bride in the intro. I don't see Bianca recovering from that gracefully. I'm pegadito to see what's going to happen, but I just can't stand to think of it really happening--like a train wreck...
I don't think Bianca was giving her approval when she showed him Nina's locket... I think she was rubbing it in his face... almost a dare to see how far he would go (what a priceless look on Bianca's face when she did that) I think she's trying to push him into admitting that he doesn't love her, but with Bruno's track record there seems to be a pretty good chance it's going to push him in the other direction.
I'm really going to miss this novela... it's kept me hooked since day 1. Usually I get hooked at the beginning, get bored in the middle and skip a few weeks, then tune back in at the end, but I haven't missed a day of this one! It's definitely been a frustrating, exhilarating roller coaster ride!
I have a feeling Yair will get deathly ill and Nina (or dare I hope Cami?) will nurse him back to health. I still don't like Yair/Nina... she needs someone who loves her but will say "knock it off, you're being a drama queen!" At this point, there's no one that fits that bill.
Oh, Santi. I really hope that kid is getting some big bucks from Subway, that seems to be his only role these days. Well, and planting that little seed about Saul...
I have to add that this novela has given me a new respect for JC as an actor (and as a hottie). As I said early on, I've never really been impressed with him much, but now I've got a full on obsession I think. And I can't stop listening to his music :) Un Nuevo Dia is a current favorite!
Juanita, I was thinking that Leo's introduction to sex via Pablo Escobar and others won't let her get emotionally involved, like the hooker's view of watching it from a distance, even though she is terribly attracted to Marcos, (who may walk her through that darkness and show her love), poor Eugenia, a stellar lady in her own right, I think she has stumbled over her VERY close friend Linares being paralyzed by a bullet meant for her,
ah, Aurelio on a date with Monica, why don't we think that could be boring?
AnotherAmy - JC impressed me since my first full novela MSED, and first sight of him; total package. For someone who wanted to be a musician/singer (not fully impressed with his abilities at this one, except for eye-candy factor, and I will try and catch him in concert for this reason alone) first, he seems to be a natural at acting.
I just spied a mistake in my recap. The one who said to herself: ¡Por supuesto ya nació la horma de sus zapatos, Antonia Guerra! was Irene, not Patti.
I zip through the commercials in my DVR recording, so I managed to miss últimas semanas. Anyone know what the next 9:00 show will be? I'm pretty sure Dama y Obrero will replace Pasión Prohibida.
What else I should have interjected in the recap was a remark after Vero said "The time isn't right yet" about Irene going to the police. The time isn't right because there's still approx 7 weeks to go on the show!
Good point about the way Leo's experience with Pablo Escaobar could have affected her feelings about sex and love.
Thanks, Hombre, terrific recap, as always!
Whether it's the writing, the direction, or Rafael Amaya's acting, it's fascinating to watch the wheels turn in his head. I'm also wondering if Turco may betray him at some point. Turco is definitely concerned about the pain that will be caused Ximena when (not if) Aurelio does away with her father.
And, yes, Aurelio's plan to come off looking like una paloma blanca with Ximena and getting Don Cleto in hot water worked perfectly.
I can't begin to guess how the Eugenia/Leo/Marco triangle is going to work out. Eugenia is very noble. I was critical of her for throwing him out when he was innocent. But I sort of understood what she said to Linares. If her gut tells her he's lusting after Leo in his heart (remember Jimmy Carter saying that?) then she doesn't want half of him with her.
So Gen Dan caught on to Leo y Marco's performance?
I think she (Leo) is just trying to convince herself that she is not that into Marco.
Shallowgal, I find JC good enough in this TN to not completely despise Bruno. When he has to play the tormented parts he does it to perfection, but then again, he also has to play the "No puedo hacerle dano a mi tio" bits, or, more recently "Nina es inocente y pura". And these are a total turn off.
If you don't plan to watch until the Brina thing stops, then be careful not to lose the entire show. As far as I know PP is ending in 3 weeks, and by the way Bruno is going...don't hold your breath.
I loved Pasion de Gavilanes!! Dana Garcia and Mario Cimaro were smoking hot together, and the other couples had their charm, too.
AnotherAmy, just like you, I knew of JC, but I never cared about him. In Mas Sabe el Diablo I really didn't like him at all, but in PP I find him swoon worthy.
I also agree that Bianca is rubbing it in his face, adding salt to the wound, in my recap I was going for sarcasm. I don't know what Bianca wants to make Bruno do, but what she'll manage is to push him into Nina's arms - and yes, I can totally see a wedding in the future, or at least a wedding being planned (since the two lovebirds haven't even shared a kiss and everybody is talking about them getting married).
I was hooked from Day 1, too, and that almost never happens for me anymore, but again, it was all because of JC.
If Yair dies, could he do it off screen? To much drama in the house, I don't need his sailor adventures, too.
Deb, it's true, no show tonight, I don't know about Friday. You're right about Bianca ripping the necklace in a fit of rage, then Tere fixing it. I'd think that when she gave it to Nina she didn't give it with the picture, but what did she tell Nina about it? As far as everybody knows this is a reminder of her father.
Flavia is the kind of woman who can build or destroy empires with her intrigues, but when she sees the gold her eyes start to sparkle and she loses all her wits. Maybe if Bianca had payed her up from the every beginning things would have been different now.
Novelera, an earlier post by Deb said that maybe Marido in Alquiler starts July 15th at 9:00.
Variopinta, I think Danny noticed Marco and Leo were acting strange, but I also think smooth talking, sincere Marco will talk Danny out of any worries that it was staged.
I also agree with all of those who don't buy Leo's protestations that she only wanted sex from Marco. She wants more. But doesn't want hurt anyone (Eugenia, Marco or herself).
I meant Marido En Alquiler (Husband for Hire), with Juan Soler, Sonya Smith, Marita Rodriguez, Miguel Varoni, and even Gabriel Coronel and Daniela Navarro, two of my faves from Relaciones Peligrosas.
Thanks, Hombre. I've never seen Juan Soler in anything. I know what he looks like. BTW, it's Maritza Rodriguez. I wonder if it's a comedy. I normally hate comedy telenovelas.
Novelera - I'm just now getting to your post. It's great. Thanks so much.
I'm hoping Francisca is not fulfilling her own prophecy that she'll be joining her men in one year. I had such high hopes for her and Gaston.
Paty looked pretty distraught when she saw those glossy prints. After she takes a minute to sob and regroup, she needs to kick Ric in the arse and then go after Antonia with no holds barred.
Those photos could easily get Ricardo removed from office.
Ricardo is going to have to make a decision about Ines. She's ruining him both personally and professionally. And it should hit a nerve with him that little Ricky is old enough to understand that his father has done something that hurts his mother - just like his father did.
Loved your comment about Macario - "world class leer". It really was!
Lagarto looked like he does want to testify against Antonia. He just needs the right incentive, which he knows will not include going free.
It may be a small, unimportant detail, but Gabriela is still under the impression that the wedding dress Irene brought to the manicomio was Irene's.
Beth
Thanks, Hombre, for your great recap. Didn't you just LOL over Cabo's and Tijeras' "low five"?
My first thought about Danny not being included in the morning meeting was that Benitez is trying to divide and conquer, get the boys to be suspicious of each other. Good point about his believing Danny's self righteous protest - it may have convinced Benitez that he's "clean".
Marco is in way over his head with these two women. He doesn't understand either one of them.
Leo is such a complex character. I have to wonder about her ability to form a healthy relationship with a man, when she has been more than willing to sleep with dangerous murderers to make an arrest. It must be like an adrenaline high for her. Her veneer cracked a little bit when she had that panic attack in the truck (after she returned from being shot). But she's most comfortable being the tough, hard nosed, in control independent agent.
Deb - I think the only way out of Mati's web is death or imprisonment for someone - Beto, Mati or Chacorta. I cannot imagine her giving up her game.
Beth
AdrianaNoel, hehehe, I bet Yair will give us a lengthy death scene, just because we haven't had enough of him crying yet. And then, hmmm...maybe the Captain will mail Yair's belongings back to the Mansion Piamonte; wonder if the DVD is still lurking in his suitcase?
I am beyond annoyed with Bruno suddenly rushing to the defense of poor, innocent Neeena, oh please. She has been nothing but a big pain in the *ss since the first episode!
J in Oregon
Beth, I agree. It's going to take someone's death to get Mathilde to back off her games with Beto. She enjoys it too much.
I remember in Monday's episode she was all over Chacorta, kissing him, and then peeking at Beto with an devilish expression to see how he was reacting to it.
Does Matilde have a death wish, she sure lives on the edge. Better to jump off Mt Everest than toy with the cartel guys.
Anibal's health is improving,
he tells the doctor he has lots of money,
don't release him from the hospital,
bolstered by Veronica's and Constanza's pleas to not let Antonia win again,
Patti stands up and spills Antonia's blackmail plans to the whole club,
Antonia and Patti have words,
Gastón brings Alejandro and Ricardo into the room,
Patti describes Antonia as only helping herself,
this seems to ring true for all,
(with the blackmail out in the open, why can't the photos be used against Ines, no one mentions this)
as Irene is making a call,
Lucho jumps through the window onto Irene,
and the bed, kissing and touching,
pretending she is Poncia,
Irene is laughing,
David enjoys Cecilia's cooking, they head to a movie as Francisca says she will clean up.
she has a one sided discussion with Tigre,
first we must take down Antonia,
Lucho is still working on Antonia's safe, Irene comes into the room,
he says he has an attention deficit disorder,
and starts kissing her,
she gets him back to work, and he opens it,
they scan the files for the best,
when the leave Macario appears with a gun,
Irene distracts him, knocks down the gun, tells Lucho to run with the files,
as she blocks Macario's chase, he slams her into the doorway,
she cracks her head and falls to the floor, blood,
as Antonia talks about Patti's infidelities,
others remember Antonias, the engineer, etc.,
Antonia says the club rules are specific, Patti needs to be ex-pulsed from the club,
everyone leaves but Antonia and the waiters,
Ricardo tries to smooth things over with Patti,
"don't touch me"
he goes on the offensive, talks about Alejandro,
she slaps him
(the day she's had and she is still standing, wow,
what an amazing lady)
She says it's over, period,
the doctor gives Lagarto the bad news
(can someone help me with this)
he can only see revenge with Antonia, "with his own hands"
Antonia, alone at the club with her drink (taking the Fernando cure)
takes a walk down memory lane,
Balmy walks in,
at Veronica's
is Alejandro waffling,
he's ok with humiliating his mother, jail's ok, but hurting/killing her...
Gastón and Veronica give him the look,
Balmy reminds Antonia that they all left her because she was insulting them,
Antonia says no, they all betrayed her,
even you when I needed you most, left me,
(part 2)
a dead Irene, head in a pool of blood,
returns to the living,
pushes Macario away, calls Alejandro,
who yells at Lucho for abandoning her, and rushes to her side,
Veronica stops Lucho from going too,
Alejandro arrives at Antonia's, checks on Irene,
kicks Macario hard between the legs, and knocks him down with a blow to the head,
in walks Antonia and Balmy who stop him,
Lucho, Veronica, and Gastón look over the stolen files,
upon seeing Valentina's will, (everything to Antonia) she is appalled that they were killed for that,
but can they use any of this, Veronica calls Ricardo over,
(who, after breaking up with Patti decides he won't be sleeping anyway)
once again, he uses his worldly legal knowledge to explain why this isn't enough,
Macario tells Antonia Lucho was taking her stuff,
Antonia rushes to the safe room and sees some discarded files on the floor,
Balmy picks them up, but doesn't look at them,
as Antonia rants,
Balmy tells Alejandro to get Irene out of there,
she drops the files, Balmy picks them up is going to look this time,
she grabs them away,
Antonia really lays it on Balmy,
to be on her side,
he walks,
Sorry, gang, but life got in the way today and I haven't been able to see the episode and I won't arrive home until late at night. If anyone cares to write a brief recap, that would be great. Maybe NovelaMan, if he's not busy, or someone new, like Deb, Clara, Amy, Shallowgal...I'm sure everybody would like to read your take on things!
For some reason (soccer?), all programs last night were delayed about an hour and 45 minutes. So I had to record them, and won't be able to watch until this evening. I may catch up with a short recap tonight, but feel free to post on what happened.
Deb - thanks so much for your wonderful recap. It's much appreciated. Our CC was not working last night so I only got about half of what happened.
I thought that in an earlier episode, Val's will left her estate to Ale, Antonia and David. Wouldn't the fact that Antonia is the sole heir be considered 'probable cause' for investigating Antonia as possibly arranging the fatal accident? It sounds like Ricardo didn't think so….
Ines must be certifiably crazy. She stood next to Antonia with a sick smirk on her face while Paty exposed the blackmail. Was Ines identified publicly as the 'other woman'?
Paty was very courageous, taking a huge risk telling people about her adulterous marriage. Many people would turn on her simply because they consider Ricardo's and her behavior sinful.
I loved "Antonia, alone at the club with her drink (taking the Fernando cure)"! Poncia's prediction has come true.
Whatever the doc told Lagarto, it clearly frightened and angered him. And who goes off leaving a murdering felon alone in a medical exam room??
I hope the writers are just playing with us about Francisca's condition. Maybe (hopefully) she and Tigre will have another 'It's not your time" talk.
Beth
Thank you, Deb, I greatly enjoyed your recap. I think the thing with Lagarto is that he already lost one kidney, and now the other one's going. In other words, he's going to die. That's why he's so desperate.
Macario is still a big problem for the good guys. Even if Lagarto tries to get revenge on Antonia, remember Macario really hates Lagarto, who burned down his ranch. So I can see Macario saving Antonia if Lagarto tries something.
So it looks as if Alejandro is waffling in not wanting the ultimate punishment for Antonia, and also, he's getting drawn closer and closer to Irene (from Lucia's illness, to Irene's getting hurt by Macario). This is not good for the tigres.
Thanks so much, Deb. I really appreciate the recap.
I'll do one tonight.
Hombre, you are correct. Chacón lost one kidney in the aftermath of being shot by Antonia. It seems odd that the other one would function perfectly for the time that's elapsed and now crap out, but this is obviously a telenovela device. The thing that's frustrating is that he was saying he wanted to kill her himself, with his bare hands. What Viewerville wants is for him to call Gastón back for a visit and spill his guts about everything Antonia ordered done. But, of course, it's not time yet for that.
Yes, it does appear Vero's prediction that Ale would waffle when the screws really tightened on his mother is coming to pass.
I loved Patti's discurso at the club and the subsequent desertion of Guerra by everyone. I watched it twice!
I'm about 75% that this is it for Ricardo jumping Inés' bones. She wasn't very smart about things as well. She told Antonia she would only do this if she wasn't revealed as having a hand in it. Then she shows up practically arm in arm with Antonia. Hello?
Patti told Ricardo she was moving out. What she didn't say was whether she was taking Ricardito with her. I assume so. Probably she and Irene will be back at the old Montemar casa.
Balmy isn't over his Lucho obsession. When Macario was raving on about saving La Patrona's stuff from being stolen, Balmy jumped on the words Lucho Vampa with all his misplaced zeal. It does appear, however, that he's done with Guerra. He told her last night that it was a mistake to sleep with her and allow her "venom" into him. And from now on the only time they were going to see each other was in the comisería.
thanks Beth,
I am a little confused about the will myself, I think the copy that Valentina signed with the other papers gave everything to Antonia, but then later Antonia was talking about changing that to include Alejandro and David to shift any blame, in either case, now, if Veronica tries to use the will it will show that they stole it, but on the other hand, if they destroy it, there will no longer be a will giving any money to Antonia,
thanks Hombre and novelera,
you guys really enrich the story for me with your comments,
AdrianaNoel, I see your post that you had to attend to real life. Since no one's put up anything for Wed. night's epi, I'll quickly summarize that by the end of the show:
Bianca, Ariel were in NY;
Flavia was in NY too, meeting the new millionnaire dude [who earlier agreed to lead her on and them dump her for Willy, even tho he and and Willy agreed "carne fresca" was preferable];
Nina had asserted her independence, and was in Boston with Deniz, looking at colleges;
Bianca had cuddled up to and slept with Ariel, apparently so she could taunt Bruno, as she did in a very intense scene;
So, Bruno was left home alone [with the servidumbre, of course] to get the call that Yair was in grave medical danger.
Clara
Hombre, that’s very odd that the novela was delayed on the East Coast. Here on the West Coast, it aired at its customary time of 10:00.
So, depending on my not-very-dependable memory:
The thoroughly disgusting Ramiro grills poor Sonia about her meeting with the Cardinal. She doesn’t lie all that well, and some thugs rush in and inject her with something while she screams at her husband. It’s later revealed that they’re going to fly her to London. Well, that’s better than I thought would happen. I was envisioning a fate like Constanza in La Patrona (locked up in the nuthouse for those who aren’t watching this one). Ramiro calls the Cardinal for an appointment to meet with him about his wife’s “medical condition”. Somehow, Ramiro’s accomplices are able to quickly monitor the Cardinal’s phone, and his next call is to Ramiro’s land line, presumably looking for Sonia.
Meanwhile, Leo is done up in her long wig and a smoking hot, midriff revealing silver dress. She manages to talk her way into Alejandro Negrete’s recording studio. I’m sort of confused about this guy. When he was working with Mathilde, I thought he was a manager or promoter of artists. Since then, it appears they are alluding to him also as a performer. Anyway, Leo gets in to see him while he’s auditioning another young woman. He immediately is smitten. Leo goes with the full Colombian, voseo all over the place, and manages to threaten the other woman with cutting off all her hair to get rid of her.
Alejandro has taken her to a hotel bar that, of course, has Aurelio meeting with Mónica for drinks prior to adjourning to a room. Leo definitely catches his eye, but he’s not real overt about it.
Later, after sex with Mónica, he says he wants to give Guadalupe a bigger share of the drug market and wants to meet with him about it. I think he also alluded to Lupe’s “help” in rescuing Ximena (?). I think Lupe is not going to be long for this world.
Oh, and the ending scene of Monday’s episode when Danny called bullshit on Leo and Marco’s big office fight? He just thought the fight was between lovers instead of co-workers, apparently not suspecting the real reason. Marco had no problem looking guilty.
Can’t remember much more. Maybe others can chime in.
hmm,
according to their respective wiki pages the start dates have changed,
Dama y Obrero, June 25, 2013
Marido En Alquiler, July 9, 2013
anyone can post in wiki, but these new dates fall on a Tuesday which seems more in line with how Telemundo has been doing this,
and there has been no official word from Telemundo that I know of.
A couple more notes from what I remember:
Parallel scenes: Downstairs, Pescador Gabe formerly presented Tere with her anillo de bodas, all ooh and ah, while upstairs Bianca tormented Bruno [and Nina] about the locket, saying rhat even tho Bruno had given it to her, Nina deserves it and after all, it looks much better on her, no crees?
Bruno then comes home late to family gathered for cena, and presents a jewelry box to Nina....tension builds in the room....this is after Nina has made her decision that she's leaving all the craziness behind and going to college in Boston....but still, she's hoping...but it turns out to be ....a necklace. Bruno tells Nins she deserved something new, not Bianca's hand me down. Nina disappointed. And still being used as a pawn between B&B.
Then we had Eliana at home, digging into a half gallon of ice cream. Willy visits her and seems to be encouraging her to get out and resume her modelling career? She says this alone time is a necessary step in her recuperation. Willy asked her what she knows about the House of Horrors.
Avances, Bruno goes to deal with Yair's medical situation and looked like Yair confronted him with the taller sighting.
Clara
thanks Clara,
I was really taken with that scene where Neena announces to the whole family that she is done worrying about Bruno and is off to college, wow, what a wonderful solution for all,
and then along comes Bruno,
with a present for her, in a ring box,
but wait it's a necklace,
and Flavia throws out that Neena was expecting an engagement ring,
as this whole silent emotional thing that Neena is going through confirms it,
and the door is back open...
Expanding on a key scene in case anyone missed it, Bianca seducing Ariel.
Ariel's helping her undress by unzipping the back of her dress in their bedroom. She thanks him, they say good night, and he walks to the bedroom door.
In a calculated way, Bianca calls him back and says: hasn't it been long enough that we've been sleeping in separate beds? Ariel says that he hasn't wanted to "pressure" her. She responds that he's been more than patient, he's like take all the time you need, finally Bianca says I miss you in my bed! All said in quiet loving tones with no mention of the rape.
I was thinking girl you have lost your mind completely. But, later in the epi Bianca very effectively taunts Bruno by conjuring up images of his tio and her together in the marital bed.
Once they've all left the mansion, and Bruno is alone, he goes into their bedroom and stands at the bed while mentally reviewing his torment. I believe that's where he is when he gets the phone call to come save Yair.
So Bianca's drive to get revenge on Bruno is so strong that it fuelled Bianca's "reconciliation" with Ariel.
Clara
thanks novelera,
I also remember that the Cardinal then calls Marco, who is busy with the stakeout, and they set a meeting for the next day, not sure how this is in relation to his meeting with Ramiro, so who will end up with the black book,
if Mónica ran her business like she keeps an eye on Aurelio, they would be doing real well, she picked right up on Leo being in the room, and Aurelio's non looks checking her out, and follows Leo into the bathroom (complete with a toothbrush dispenser), and catches her making a phone call, not sure if she was buying Leo's explanation,
and a hard to watch scene as Marco swings by Eugenia's place to pick up some of his stuff, she feeling bad over Linares, has been taken off narco stories, is losing Marco, looks destroyed but says all is well, Marco, oh yea, I spent the night at Leo's place.
btw , when I cruised through the wiki page getting the names right,
I noticed Mauricio Ochmann's name in the cast list,
this could be interesting.
deb, you're right, that was a ring box, wasn't it? Just to build the tension a little longer.
As usual with those family gatherings, the differing expectations and fears played out on everyone's face.
Here's hoping against hope that Strong Neena sticks around and gives up the ping pong thing.
Clara
Thanks for the recap Clara! It was nice to have a little happiness (Tere and Gariel's engagement), that was so sweet.
Although I'm no big fan of Nina, it was awful to watch Bianca and Bruno using her as a pawn in their little cat and mouse game. Meanwhile, was flapping my hands at the TV trying to block out the image of Yair hocking up his lungs into a hankie. Ugh!!!!
J in Oregon
It was on the regular time in Fl 10PM.
After Ramiro finished with his wife(I thought he killed her) he was over at PEAM, going to a fancy restaurant. I also thought Ramiro told the Cardinal she died, but I don't understand a lot.
!Ay, caramba! if the Cardinal's phone is bugged they know he called Marco.
MundoFox is running promos for a new Colombian action-novela called COMANDO ELITE that will probably take the 3 CAINES time slot (3 CAINES is in ultimas semanas).
COMANDO ELITE is another in the line of what Colombian press are dubbing "tombo-novelas" - novelas following the lives of cops. RCN has been alternating their prime time novelas between the narco-novelas and tombo-novelas.
COMANDO ELITE is inspired by stories from the book OBJETIVO 4. My understanding is the series will be a divided into 7 cases, each lasting about 10 episodes.
Trailer for COMANDO ELITE.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=q6B5-ycfyB8
Looks like Diana Hoyos and Claudio Catano are the main cops. She was the wife of the assassinated minister of justice in the early part of ESCOBAR, and Catano was the lead of the first season of A MANO LIMPIA.
Also in the trailer, I caught glimpses of a couple other actors I like: Tommy Vasquez who was in LA MARIPOSA and ESCOBAR and Julieth Restrepo who was in A MANO LIMPIA and a Colombian series that she was greaat in that hasn't played in the US yet called LA PROMESA.
Ricardo said that Valentina's will gave her fortune to Antonia, Alejandro and David, not just Antonia. He also said it looked valid, it had Val's signature. Vero pointed out that David had said Val and Max signed lots of documents the night they left, she could have signed the will not on purpose (sin querer). Ricardo also said documents obtained from a robbery can't be used in court against the person you robbed.
I was disappointed that Pati broke up with Ricardo. Yes, I know he's been lying to her. But he has problems. They really need a couples counselor. But of course that's too boring for our show.
Antonia is already starting to suffer, being left alone in the club, having even Balmy walk out on her. She still has Macario, but who knows if even HE will stay loyal to her. She said to herself, she never wanted to compromise, never wanted to be weak, was always true to herself. But she doesn't realize that's not really so much to brag about, especially when it involves hurting others.
Clara, thank you so much for the recap! I haven't yet gotten around to watching it, but you telling me how Bianca seduced Ariel might be enough for me to skip this episode. Gross! Ewww! Bleah!!!
Deb, Neena (why haven't we called her like this all along?) should have been in college a long time ago. But engaging is riveting talks with Flavia was a high priority for her during summer. Better late then never, I guess. And let's hope it sticks!
J in Oregon, you're so funny when you talk about Yair! The other day you said something about him getting a death scene because we haven't seen him cry enough....still laughing when I remember it.
This little game B&B are playing will end up hurting someone.
So, to address the big elephant in the room: will Bruno declare his love for Neena just to spite Bianca? This would be next obvious step.
Novelera and Deb - Novelera, thanks for your very helpful recap. I believe the sequence on the phone calls with the Cardinal was that Ramiro called the Cardinal and told the Cardinal that Sonia had some medical problems and Ramiro wanted to talk about what Sonia had told the him during her visit. He also set a meeting with the Cardinal for first thing the next morning. After that call ended, the Cardinal immediately tried to call Sonia on her landline, but couldn't reach her. While the phone was ringing, Huerta (?) had his guys track the incoming call - the Cardinal's phone was not yet bugged - and knew the Cardinal was trying to reach Sonia.
The Cardinal next called Marco, and they set a meeting for the next morning after the meeting with Ramiro. The Cardinal told Marco he wanted to hear what Ramiro has to say before he talks with Marco.
Ramiro told Huerta (?) to bug the Cardinal's phone after he had called Marco, so at this point Ramiro doesn't know the Cardinal spoke with Marco.
Sonia unintentionally revealed the existence of the little black book to one of Ramiro's men when she was being loaded onto the plane.
So - will the Cardinal reveal that the book exists and that he has it?
Beth
Thanks, Novelera for the recap, and Beth and others for the comments. Beth, your explanation of the calls was exactly right.
Alejandro Negrete is supposed to be a famous performer. Yes, he has people in his recording studio, helping out young artists, but apparently some performers do that. Vanessa was trying out, but of course Alejandro prefers the sexier "Claudia Rojas" (Leo). I noticed they sort of had to fake her singing, as Carmen Villalobos probably isn't a singer.
She got rid of Vanessa in the nightclub by saying Colombian women who have rivals get out scissors, and leave the other girls bald! Vane left after that.
Since I don't think Monica has ever seen Leo, there's no chance that she'll recognize her, although Monica is sensitive to someone acting false.
Did you guys also notice that the bug spray guy in the recording studio was Orejas? Yes, that's how he "bugged" the studio!
I didn't like that Espinosa, Eugenia's superior, who took her off the drug stories.
I think Aurelio wants to give Ximena a big party. It may be for Bert's birthday. Ximena was counting money, and told Alba it was to buy a car for Bert for his birthday, but Alba feared it was for Ximena leaving again, and cautioned her not to do that. Alba also said if you need money, just ask Turco to open the safe, there's lots in there. This may come up in the future.
I can't explain why the show was delayed here last night, but at least I could watch the next day on the internet.
Hombre, Aurelio said something several times to Negrete -- at his table and in the bathroom -- that he wanted him to perform at a party - an aniversario for Ximena, basically so he can get back in her good graces. I wanted to be sure, so I looked it up. This word can mean either the same as the English or birthday. So he could be planning either a wedding anniversary party or a birthday party for Ximena.
Carmen Villalobos sang in "Sin senos no hay Paraiso". Don't know if that makes her a singer. Wiki says actress, dancer.
RG, so bummed I can't get MundoFox in my area!! I can only hope they'll put the episodes on their website. Tommy Vasquez is one of my favorites, and I love Claudio and Julieth as well (loved A Mano Limpia). Tried to find La Promesa online but haven't been able to, I've heard it's awesome!
Ricardo tells the Tigres they can’t use the documents Lucho got from the safe because they resulted from a robbery. [In the US justice system, they call ill-gotten evidence the fruit of the poisoned tree.] While I’m watching this, I’m thinking: They said Antonia hadn’t registered the will yet; so why not just shred it so she can’t inherit. But maybe she would get it if Valentina died intestate anyway. Don’t know.
Lucho finds another sheet of paper in the folder from Antonia’s safe. Vero reads it and says it’s a liberation, and his risking his life to get it was totally worth it.
At the hospital Poncia tells Irene that it’s great that nothing bad happened to that nice boy [Lucho]. Ale, not really very angry about it, asks if Poncia also is sticking up for this monigote (literally: straw man; a weak person). Poncia says: “If only all the crooks were like him!”
Vero comes to the hospital and gives Poncia the declaración (confession?) that was in Antonia’s safe. She tells her this was the document that kept her a slave, and now she’s free. Poncia is moved to tears. Vero tells her now she can come to La Fortaleza to live with her, Cecilia, and the others. But Poncia says she’s going to “keep her enemies closer” by staying there and letting Antonia still think she’s her slave. She’s going to spy on Antonia.
Balmy comes into the comisaría on fire. He asks Gonzo for all the case files relating to Antonia Guerra. He wants the stuff about the mine explosion and all the murders. He’s sure they’re connected. He wants a pizarrón [a whiteboard to post things].
Patti and Ricardito move out of Casa Villegas. She assures Constanza and Ricardo that they’ll be able to spend lots of time with the boy. When Patti arrives at Casa Montemar, she tells Irene that she feels like her heart’s been ripped out.
Constanza comes to see Inés, at first pretending to be an emergency patient. Inés somehow lacks the gene for shame. She brazenly calls Connie suegra. [This has always interested me. In English you would never call someone a mother-in-law unless you’d jumped the broom. In Spanish people who are engaged, or sometimes only dating, call the parents of the person they’re dating or engaged to suegro o suegra.]
Alejandro tells Lucho, Ricardo, and Gastón that the only useful testimony up to now is that of Irene. Lucho flares up, upset that Irene could go to jail. Ale assures him he doesn’t plan to leave Lucía without a mother. They kick around the idea of Poncia. She knew about Fernando seeing Antonia murder his father. And she saw her let Marcelo Vidal die. Ricardo, as usual, is the big aguafiestas and says any good defense lawyer desbarataría su testimonio (tear Poncia’s testimony apart).
Constanza asks why Inés insisted on ruining Ricardo’s life. Inés says pleasure doesn’t ruin someone’s life. Constanza’s absence made his life empty; made him feel like he was not a man. Constanza tells her Ricardo sought her out to help him with his marital problems, but what Inés did was unethical. Inés tells her to go away. Ricardo is hers. He’s addicted to her and will never leave her bed.
Alejandro, Gastón, Ricardo, and Lucho say they know what has to be done, but they don’t tell us. They say Lucho can’t do it. Alejandro says he will be the one to do it.
Balmy studies his whiteboard with photos of our cast, living and dead. He says all these people are connected. Ya think?
Ricardo comes to try to get Antonia arrested for invasion of privacy and extortion for the pictures she sent to Patti. This doesn't ever seem to fly.
Ale comes to La Dorada for Irene’s clothes and gets into it again with Macario. He beats him up big time. Balmy arrests him for assault and says Ale will be held without bail until there’s a trial. What? Ricardo tells Balmy that Alejandro has been out of control lately. He suggests Ale be moved to the state prison where Antonia can’t influence people to get him out or Macario could try to get revenge. [???? Is this what the guys cooked up, or is Ricardo turning on Alejandro because he slept with his wife?]
Antonia tells Lucas that she’s going to see Macario in the hospital. She then asks him when he’s going to do that little job she asked him to do. Uh, oh!
Alejandro ends up in the next cell to Macario’s cousin the murderous truck driver. [I can’t remember his name.] Alejandro is rather suspiciously open with this guy. He tells him he’s in jail for beating up Macario because Macario beat up the woman he loved, causing her to lose her baby.
In the hospital Macario tells Antonia that, when he is released, he’s going to find Alejandro and kill him. Antonia: “Don’t you touch my son! He showed that he’s stronger than you. If you get anywhere near him, I’ll kill you!” He tells her that Alejandro hates him because SHE sent him to beat and kick Gabriela Suárez. He tells her that Alejandro threw it in his face. Surely Gabriela told him when she was in the asylum. He says he’s tired of being her attack dog. He wants money. And it’s time his cousin got out of prison or he might say that it was Antonia who had her step-daughter and Max killed!
The doctor says to Ricardo and Antonia that Aníbal is depressed. Sending him to jail would be bad. Ricardo obviously doesn’t care. Antonia says he’s his father, and he must have done something good for him. Ricardo thinks a second: “I can’t recall any.” And walks off.
Alejandro works the truck driver some more. He asks him why he’s nervous about Macario. The truck driver says he doesn’t know the guy. Then he asks how badly he was hurt. Ale says he’s glad he didn’t kill him. But he did scare him so badly he’s sure he’ll tell what he did. Ale also says Macario will surely rat out everyone else.
Antonia is feeding Aníbal something in his room. She suggests he ask for house arrest, and she’ll bring him to her house and care for him.
At La Fortaleza they are discussing how brave Patti was in confronting Antonia at the club. There’s some kind of a black folder that Gastón has, and a small envelope falls out of it. It’s apparently from Antonia’s safe. There’s a key to a bank deposit box and a bank ID card with Antonia’s picture on it. Constanza says it’s not a local bank. They plan to send Lucho to the capital to investigate. [What? He’s going to disguise himself to look like Antonia’s photo?]
Francisca is feeling really bad. When David comes in and remarks about how ill she looks, she tells him it’s just a little cold and tells him to go out and have fun. After he leaves, she doubles up with pain again after another conversation with El Tigre, scolding him for giving her so much pain in coming to join him. Fortunately Gastón has come, and David tells him how concerned he is.
Vero comes to try to get Balmy to give Alejandro bail. He tells her to go on in and say goodbye, because he’s being transferred soon to the state prison. Vero goes in and asks him why he did it.

"pros and cons",
Ana Layevska is an incredible actress,
it is being filmed in L.A., I think a first for Telemundo,
the original story and this adaptation is being done by José Ignacio Valenzuela,
who also wrote "La casa de al lado",
great summary novelera,
and thanks for helping out on that word 'monigote' that flew right by me,
I was really moved by Poncia's freedom-at-last tears, (Marú Bravo is such an impressive actress)
what's with the bank meetings with Alejandro at the helm, men only, jackets required, where are the cigars, cognac, and the only time we ever see Lucho in a suit, he must have a locker/telephone booth near by,
when Ricardo was the fiscal did he ever prosecute a case or were they all released for lack of evidence,
wow, did Alejandro ever start wailing on Macario, (and another agressive blow to the ah, private areas) but Macario fought back, something new,
so I guess Lucas is now the chief sacario,
this thing where people feed each other with a spoon, like Antonia to Anibal, do adults really do this,
ah Balmy, so he put his suspect board out in front of his desk this time, where others walk by, Veronica noticed it, ya know, if this guy didn't think you are guilty until you can prove otherwise, and of course the guilty always can, and if he would have made an attempt to be friendly with the victims, and of course there is no evidence, (Ricardo could tell him that), but he would have connected the dots, and then known where to look for the evidence.
Before, the Corrupt Power Trio of Ramiro, Huerta and Castro had only bugged Ramiro's home phone. But now they've only bugged the Cardinal's phone, but his office as well. Ramiro has his appointment with the Cardinal, telling him that Sonia is mentally ill, delusional, and makes up conspiracies. And BTW, Emenencia, did she say anything about some plot? No, lies the Cardinal, she just came in about her charity work.
The next appointment is Marco. With the Corrupt Trio listening him, the Cardinal tells Marco he didn't believe Ramiro. He waives around the little black book, but he won't show it to Marco. Why? Because he's still not 100% sure Sonia is okay. Marco's job is to see if Sonia is mentally okay (and if she's even alive - we know she's been shipped overseas). The Cardinal will ask the Vatican if he's allowed to reveal the contents of the book.
Upon hearing this, the Corrupt Ones go ape, and Huerta and Castro want to call in Danny. No way, says Ramiro. I'll handle it. He gets Irina to set up a meet with Aurelio, and tells him he needs a favor. Kill the Cardinal! And it has to be tomorrow, when he's going to the airport. Make sure he and "anything he's carrying" are totally blow up! Uh oh.
Aurelio decides to kill "4 birds with one stone". I'm not totally sure about all this, but 1) He meets with Guadalupe and says Guad has to kill the Cardinal 2&3) He tells Cabo and Tijeras to come to that same place (Monterrey), and 4) He tells Topo to come. Is he going to kill all of them?
Meanwhile, Oscar Cadena has been moved to a less confined jail cell, and is building up allies, working on his revenge. Tijeras again tells Cabo they should have killed Oscar, but Cabo says I'm the boss.
Leo gets Negrete drunk, sends him off in a taxi. The next day, he's mad she abandoned him, but she sexily smooth talks her way out of it. At one point, her mike wasn't working, so the cops, including Marco, didn't know what was happening. Marco sort of wants to know/doesn't want to know if she slept with Negrete. Leo tells him she's gotten a job as one of Alejandro's back up singers for the party that's going to happen at Aurelio's place, and that she was already introduced to Aurelio (no name, just called Ale's "padrino"). So, things are going much faster than they thought. And BTW, NO, she didn't sleep with him!
No show tonight, but Monday should be wild!
Thank you, Novelera, for a great detailed recap. It was another lively episode with a lot happening.
I think the boys did come up with a plan to entrap Antonia and the lobos, and Ale's beating up Macario and going to jail is part of it. Ricardo's suggesting Balmy Rod send Ale to the state prison for safe keeping will get Ale close to Lagarto.
I wonder if the boys have told Gaby/Vero what they discussed/planned. Her aggressive visit to Rod's office could be part of a plan.
That hospital scene with Antonia spoonfeeding Anibal jello all the while telling him to "be a man!" - what a hoot!
I see a bad end for Ines. She dissed Saint Coni, and then, after Coni left the office, Ines stopped smirking and had a worried look on her face.
Poncia is one of my favorite people. After finding out she's free (at last!), she went back to prison to spy on the warden! BTW, that document may have been a police report from years back stating that Poncia's husband was alive after the attack and later died of mysterious causes.
How many weeks does Telemundo usually give for Ultimas Semanas? We're getting close to resolution on a number of plot threads. I'm going to miss this TN!
Beth
Great recap, Novelera!
I agree that Alejandro's beating up Macario was part of the plan. And he gets the satisfaction of putting the hurt on that bum as well!
I think Lucas's job is still to kill Gaston.
My guess on the document Poncia tore up is that after she stabbed her husband, Antonia made her sign a declaration that she stabbed her husband. In return letting Antonia hold this declaration, which would send Poncia to jail), Antonia used her influence to have the case dropped. But she could always bring it back at any time if Poncia crossed her.
Where I live, a will has to be signed in front of two witnesses, who both see the person sign, and then they both have to sign it as well, on witness lines, and list their addresses. The person making the will and the other two all have to be in the same room at the same time. Obviously, this was not the case with Valentina, and the system used in her case allows for a lot more shenanigans.
Yes, I agree, is Lucho going to disguise himself as Antonia? No, but based on the logic of this show, all he has to do is dress up as "Antonia's lawyer" and no one will question him, right?
It certainly is fun when the good guys have their own secret schemes going.
I think the Robles have located the original girl/bimbo who was with Isidro when Aurelio gave him that poisoned wine, and are having her brought back to tell Monica what really happened. Guadalupe says to Monica, you'd put your hands in the fire for Aurelio, right? Well, let's see what you say after talking to this woman.
The Cardinal also suggested to Marco, if they can't trust even Benitez or the President (and although we THINK those two are okay, who knows?), he might present his evidence to this up and coming guy from the opposition party, Javier Comenares. I wonder if that is a future character in our drama.
Hombre, thanks for your excellent recap. I didn't catch the blown up part - I wonder if the whole plane, passengers and everything will go kaboom!
AC is sending Chacorta to Monterrey to take charge of Operation Get-the-Cardinal. But Chacorta's track record isn't the best (failed hospital/surgery trip and the botched assassination of Marco). And AC wasn't that keen on killing priests or being someone else's hit man. Should be exciting!
Cabo and Tijeras have glow-in-the-dark bulls eyes on their backs. Oscar is now in a less restrictive jail cell, and he's planning his revenge and return to power. Tijeras was right when he told Cabo they should have killed Oscar.
Miss Sinaloa may be Missing when Monica and Whats-her-name are finished with her.
I felt bad for Eugenia hearing Marco's confession last evening, but - what was she thinking when she threw him out?
Quite a contrast between AC and how he relates to women compared with our boy scout Marco who is painfully honest.
Here in Denver, El Señor and La Patrona are not on tonight (futbol from Panama), but Pasion is on at 10:00 p.m., midnight on the east coast.
Beth
Grea recap novelera! And quick too! Reminder to everyone on the East Coast: No LP tonight because Telemundo is showing the Mexico v. Panama futbol game.
I don't think the guy tigres told the girl tigres about their scheme. GabyVero was too shocked about Ale being in detention for them to have told her. The fact that Ale keeps having Lucho, Gaston and Ric at the bank to meet without Coni and GabyVero tells me that they've been meeting without letting the girls know. Gaston also outright lied to Vero about why Ale was in jail. She is gonna freak when she finds out the boys supported Alejandro cooking up this scheme and not telling her.
I'm glad Ale is doing this scheme though, because he's solidifying his bonds with the group and Vero and risking something as everyone else has. But what a risk--attempted murder charges? Man! Good on him, though.
I saw a short 30 second avance for Monday and basically it seems as Irene and Lucho are gonna dress up as Antonia and Macario to get to that safe deposit box in DF where they'll discover some serious secrets about Guerra. Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_BmAHO64NE
Jean - Hi! Hope you're out there. Have you moved things? I'm finding this page in the Telemundo comments on the side bar but not on the Caray page. Also, couldn't find the week of May 27. I may need a map!?
Beth
Cosigning Beth's issue. But I've always had issues finding the page even from the link on the left-side of the Caray Caray page. I have to either bookmark or go through this Rube Goldberg style routine to get to this weeks comment page. I'm using FireFox by the way.
Beth and J desde NYC, that's odd you're having those problems. One thing could be if you're clicking the link that is Discussions. That one may be dead and leftover from an earlier time. Not sure. What works for me every time with Internet Explorer is the last link:
Telemundo Recap Feed
And I'm pretty sure it worked with my old computer, with which I used Firefox.
Hombre de Misterio - after reading your post about the "LOCUTORIO,"
I looked it up on Spanish Dict.com
and learned that it does indeed mean phone booth, BUT it also means a meeting place or waiting room such as in a prison, so I think both could apply here.
Originally, I did not watch the novela, but I was drawn in by the amazing looks of JLP, and once I started watching it, I have been mesmerized by the plot and all of the acting in general. I do think
that JLP is an excellent actor, and I have grown tired of other actors I once liked such as Fernando Colunga and William Levy.
I am a recent but huge fan of José José and I purchased his 1985 movie, Gavilán or Paloma over a month ago, but I have been too busy to watch it. On the "portada" are photos of José and Christian Bach who played his wife because his wife, a telenovela actress, had in real life gained way too much weight to play the role. (I also just read José's autobiography in Spanish).
I think Christian is doing an outstanding job. In a recent article about her in People en Espanol, she remarked that she takes such good care of herself she has no need for plastic surgery, altho I'd say her face appears pretty tight and different from her youthful picture on the movie portada back in '85.
Thanks to all for all of the wonderful recaps, Spanish expressions, and the humor. I loved the new expression "salir airoso" and more.
My best to all....
