De que estoy harta de casi todos, estoy harta de casi todos!
Not only does the ghastly image of Karina interrupt Alonso and Irene's potential nookie, but the actual Karina calls while Irene is getting packed to invite Al to the movies. And he, like an idiot, says he "can't" and they'll talk later instead of "No! And I never want to see you again!"
Mara's mom arrives to pick her up at Padre Juancho's. Despite PJ's effusive praise, she insists on nagging Mara about not eradicating PJ's place of dust and cooking PJ's meals. When they leave, PJ summons Paolo from a back room so they can marvel at how hardcore Mara's mom is. (She really does remind me of Carrie's mom, but that would make Mara Carrie and I really hope we're not going down that road!)
After the re-opening of the fonda, Abdul walks Angela home and Gino and Eleazar fight over who's going to take Carmen and Lupita home. Lupita finally shouts that her name is not "piccolina" (little girl?) it's Lupita! Ms. Garcia if you're one of her sibling's baby daddies. She ends up going home with Eleazar, leaving Gino to take Carmen home. Carmen talks a little about having a relationship with El, but not being able to really get things off the ground (well, except for what we KNOW she's gotten off the ground). Gino thought bubbles that it's gonna suck if El ends up with "his" Carmelona.
RoDiego brings Diego back to the house, with Irma to watch over him. Vicente isn't thrilled at first, but RoDiego talks him into it and addresses all Vicente's concerns. Diego will stay in Diego's room, because it's near the guest room where Irma will be staying and RoDiego will stay in Rodrigo's room.
Abdul and Angela can't get a taxi and end up out in the street when Jaiba comes crawling up. Angela challenges her, asking if she's clawing for info and when Abdul defends Jaiba, Angela leaves to find her own damn taxi. Abdul tells Jaiba that Angela's not his girlfriend, for which I mentally kick him in the shins. Jaiba takes Abdul by the arm and invites him to scuttle away with her and have a cup of coffee at the drugstore.
Irma gets Diego re-hooked up in his room. RoDiego bullies Vicente out of the room. Irma brags to Diego that she doesn't care if she has to put up with his whole family--she loves being in this house. Irma and Brigitte should hang out…NEVER!
I'm ignoring Abdul and Jaiba's flirting. But watching just enough to be grateful when Paolo calls before they can kiss.
Gino thinks he and Carmen are destined to be together, saying that out of all the bowling alleys in all the DF, Paolo walked into his. He wants Carmen to tell him what to do to get her back. Rather than give him a list, like she did Chato, she says he doesn't need to do anything in particular, but she does like it when he talks to her in Italian. He begs for a kiss, but she only throws him one. After Gino leaves, Eleazar demands to know about their kiss from last night even though, as Carmen points out, SHE never asks him what he does with his "Osita" (little bear…Kimberly). He grouches about wanting to get rid of Gino and Carmen gives him a big speech about how he's losing ground with her because instead of declaring his love and saying he's going to fight for her, all he can think about is marking his territory. "You could send him to the North Pole and that still doesn't mean you and I would be together!" After Eleazar stomps off, Carmen says all she wants is for him to show he really loves her, but he just won't do it.
Rodrigo and his bed are reunited…and it feels so good. But Rodrigo wants more…and Irma shows up just in time to oblige him.
Grumps meets with Dr. Ocampo. They were both surprised that "Diego" wanted to bring his brother home. Grumps really wants to know if there's anything serious that can happen to "Rodrigo" at home, or if there are any additional risks. Ocampo says the only negative is really emergency care. And sure, maybe being in his own home might help him recover.
Country maid just haaaas to test and see if "the zombie" really isn't going to move…she plays with his face and tickles him. Irma busts her, and just in time, because he starts to come around. Country maid returns the favor by asking what Irma was doing wandering around the house in the early hours. Irma shoots Diego up with his special cocktail just in time.
Alonso drops Irene off at Caprico and can't get out of the parking lot without Karina showing up in his rearview mirror…the real Karina, unfortunately…and insisting on getting in his car so he can take her on their breakfast date (where I'm sure he planned to break up with her). And he lets her into the car. Instead of calling the cops.
Irma calls RoDiego to complain about her run-in with Country Maid. He spits out his coffee laughing at "zombie," but she gets him to take it seriously when he says that Country Maid is spying on them. Irene comes in to talk fabric and he accidentally puts her on speaker just as she's saying she gave "him" his medications. It's a little fishy, but RoDiego makes his big announcement…that "Rodrigo" is living at the house and Irma is there to take care of him.
Out in the hall, Grumps has turned to Goofy Grins as he giddily announces to Natalia that his grandson is living at home again and his family is complete. Cara de "QTH" de Natalia. Natalia says she's…happy?...too, and smooches him on the cheek. Goofy Grins is having a hard time processing this, but he kindly (for him anyway) tells her to get back to work.
Irene asks what the rationale was, considering "Diego" wanted to keep "Rodrigo" a secret from Natalia until after they were married. RoDiego blabs on about thinking "Rodrigo" is going to wake up soon, and he wants him to do it at home. He slips when he talks about Rodrigo being "abandoned" and snaps at Irene that it's terrible! It's like being in this big empty room…uh, or so one would suppose. He turns on the waterworks about wanting to be near his brother. Natalia walks in and she thinks the conversation with Goofy was about HER moving into the house with RoDiego instead of getting their own place. She's tempted to invite him to the fonda, but both RoDiego and Irene tell her not to rush things…wouldn't want him to have a relapse. She gives RoDiego a happy kiss and leaves. Irene and RoDiego both know that Natalia misunderstood, but RoDiego wants to keep it that way. Irene looks at him suspiciously.
Alonso has parked the car out in the middle of I-don't-know-where so that Karina can crawl all over him. He complains that he can't just go at it like this and she says he'd better participate enthusiastically…or she'll rat him out to Irene. "Now drive me to work. And I expect you at my place at 9. And you're spending the night." This is all kinds of gross!
Lala gossips to Irma about the twins. Irma seems inclined to believe Lala's account of things more than Rodrigo's. "Diego was nicer, so people liked him more, and Rodrigo got jealous. He was only Don Vicente's favorite…. Rodrigo used to try to take Diego's girlfriends…. I don't know for sure if he would pretend to be Diego, but I think he might have, from hearing them argue." Lala leaves and Irma says now she knows Diego is the saint and "the other one" is the devil. Really, Irma? You didn't get the last five memos?
I am now going to studiously ignore Abdul and La Jaiba at Crab Central…there's a lollipop! Gross! Ignoring, ignoring…. This is Jaiba's revenge on Carmen. I mentally kick her and Abdul both in the shins.
Paolo doesn't have his license yet, so Carmen isn't letting him take his car out. She and Gino run into the two gossips, explain that Gino's Paolo's father, and threaten to toss them in jail and/or cut their tongues out if they ever gossip about Paolo again.
Fonda Los 6 Garcia. Abdul and Angela are taking out the trash when La Jaiba scuttles up and Abdul dumps the trash on Angela so he can go squash Jaiba's innards between his idiotic self and the pavement in order to save her from a bicyclist. Then they both have a good laugh at Angela, covered in garbage. Angela, girlfriend…I think you need to work a little crab-repelling mojo on Abdul. You know what I'm talking about. Maybe the entire block, just to be on the safe side. Also…yes, kicking Abdul and Jaiba in the shins again. Ignoring the inappropriate touching and the nasty music. And the expression on Jaiba's face. Not ignoring Angela crying. Move on, Angela. I thought he was the guy for you, but his brains have leaked out his ears.
Vicente tries to threaten Country Maid over her treatment of Rodrigo, but Country Maid threatens right back. Lala announces the doctor's arrival. The doctor being Alonso--as Irma, Irene, and RoDiego find out. Grumps has just put him in charge of "Rodrigo." Grumps is concerned about emergency response time, so Alonso is his insurance policy. He doesn't think it's fair to put that responsibility on Irma, since she's only a nurse. The non-medical personnel leave the room so Alonso can examine "Rodrigo." Iiiiiirma…you've got some 'splaining to do!
Out in the hallway, RoDiego tries to get Alonso dismissed, but Grumps resists. Grumps may not be fond of Alonso for getting involved with Irene, but Alonso loves "Rodrigo" and he trusts Alonso more than he trusts Irma. This round goes to Grumps.
Tiburcio and the Mrs. argue about her threatening Vicente. He still refuses to tell her what secret he's hiding and she vows to get it out of him sooner or later. What did you ever see in her, T?
Gino yells at Paolo for not answering his phone, but they both end up laughing because Paolo is just so happy to be getting his first ever scolding from his Papa! I don't want to like Gino, I really don't, but it's so hard not to! Paolo explains about having to hide from Mara's mom. Gino invites the whole family to the movies.
Alonso is suspicious that RoDiego was upset about sending bloodwork to the lab. He lies to Irene about why he didn't answer her phone calls earlier (when he was being sexually assaulted by Karina). And he lies to her about having to go to Cuernavaca later. Natalia asks Irene for the rest of the afternoon off to run wedding errands. This gives Alonso time to contemplate his hideous situation. But not enough time to come to the conclusion the rest of us have…just tell Irene the truth!
Irma thinks she can manage Alonso the same way she managed Dr. Ocampo. RoDiego says Alonso's not as slutty as he is ("facilote," easy).
Carmen goes to visit Eleazar at work to talk about a beer permit. He's brusque with her…and then Kimberly walks in and El rather rudely dismisses Carmen. Kimberly praises him for giving her this "proof" that he "really" "loves" her. I'm mentally kicking Kimberly and El in the shins.
Since drinking away his problems worked so well the last time, Alonso does it again…but with Alberto this time. I don't think he'll end up owing Alberto a lifetime of sexual slavery, but I guess we'll see. Alonso explains what happened with Karina and how now she's blackmailing him for sex. Alberto blames him for going to Karina's in the first place and then tells him that getting drunk isn't going to help. "Yeah, but at least I'll be drunk."
Brigitte visits RoDiego's office for a quickie on the futon, but he has wedding stuff to do. Brigitte brought him some info on an apartment and whines about always coming last with him. She thinks if she starts macking on him, she'll get the *cough* time *cough* out of him that she wants.
Alonso. Drinking. Self-pity. Alberto wants to take him home, but Alonso insists on going to Karina's house…why?!!!!!
Well, Brigitte got sex, and RoDiego agrees to look at the apartment. He cracks up laughing at the price tag and her assumption that he would be buying the place. Brigitte throws a tantrum and RoDiego tells her to take it or leave it. "If you like the place, then see if we can rent instead of buying. Now get out--I'm already running late." He wipes her lipstick off his mouth.
Kimberly waves at Carmen from El's car. She's made El empanadas. After what she did to the toast…maybe this is just what El deserves.
Natalia and RoDiego did a lot of shopping, but they still have some errands, since he was late. Natalia brags about the pretty lingerie she bought for the wedding night. RoDiego realizes they're alone in Garcia Central Station and tries to have the cake before the wedding. Even though Natalia tells him to wait because they're almost married, they are still thankfully interrupted by a Carmen who has had about enough already today! She throws RoDiego out of the apartment so she can yell at Natalia. Natalia has locked herself in her room and doesn't want to "talk" now.
Karina is counting down the seconds, and her doorbell rings right on time. Alberto drops Alonso off…literally…on the couch. Karina's furious that he's passed out.
Kimberly has prepared empanadas with toloache for El. Toloache is touted as a love drug, but it's a hallucinogen that's potentially deadly. Kimberly can't even cook, so what are the chances she actually knows what a lethal dose is? I can just picture her in the kitchen saying if a little is good, then a lot must be better. El says they smell good, but before he can eat, he gets a call from Morales. Kimberly is glad he didn't go running to Carmen, then looks back at the casserole dish, trying to remember which ones were drugged.
Brigitte calls Karina to ask about renting the apartment instead of buying…because her "cousin" changed her mind. Karina thinks the "cousin" is BS and someone's buying Brigitte an apartment. But, sure, the owner would be happy to rent and Brigitte will sign for her "cousin." Karina complains that Alberto delivered Alonso to her in less-than-optimal condition. "He didn't do me any good that way." Ugh!
Kimberly is suffering the intestinal aftereffects of the allegedly-non-toloache-containing empanadas. El comes back after a long night, but he's only going to shower and change. Kimberly thought bubbles that she HAS to get him to eat the empanadas, just as the empanadas attack her again. Serves her right.
Brigitte leaves. That leaves Natalia alone to get chewed out by Carmen for not respecting the house and not considering that any of her siblings could have walked in at any time. Carmen begs her not to have sex before they get married and to use protection if they do. "Trust me, 'cause I've got 4 'consequences' so I know what I'm talking about!"
Alonso wants to make a confession to Irene…so he asks her to never forget that he loves her like he's never loved anyone before.
Kimberly wants El to sit down and eat, but El had some tamales with the guys, so he just wants coffee. "Just pack the empanadas up for me and I'll eat them later for lunch." He takes one horrified sip of coffee, then takes the bag of empanadas and makes a lunch date with Kimberly.
Gino reads over his game plan for sweeping Carmen off her feet: dinner at a nice restaurant, flowers, dancing, recite love poems in the moonlight. It's not a bad plan. I mean…stop it Gino! I refuse to like you! Paolo walks in, startling Gino, and insists on reading this list that Gino had written in Italian…he translates most of it and realizes it's Gino's plan for his mom.
RoDiego propositions Natalia in the workroom. Then he calls her a wet blanket for not wanting to take him up on it. Brigitte walks in and RoDiego is rude enough to tell Brigitte that her sister is being a silly prude. To reward him for his rudeness, predatory behavior, and pouting, Natalia gives him a kiss.
Paolo likes the list, but he adds one thing…mariachis! Paolo fills Gino in about Carlos and Chato, and standing Chato up at the altar. Gino wonders if that's Carmen's plan for him. More importantly, Gino…would you be more upset that she's trying to get you to the altar in the first place, or are you only concerned she'll ditch you once you get there?
El passes on the poisoned empanadas to Morales.
Karina calls Alonso at work, demanding that he be at her apartment at lunchtime. Alonso is determined to put a stop to this. So he calls Irene and cancels their lunch date, lying about why. After he hangs up, Alonso says this will be the last time he lies.
Over lunch, Brigitte mentions Alonso and Karina's drunken assignation. Alberto swears her to secrecy. Like that's going to work.
Morales stares, open-mouthed, at Kimberly when she comes to El's office. El claims he ate all the empanadas, except one, which he was planning to offer to Morales because he's starving. Morales is only too happy to finish off the last empanada. Because drugging people is funny.
Paolo and Gino go to the fonda for lunch. Gino is still wondering if Carmen is planning to lure him to the altar, only to leave him.
RoDiego is bored looking at flowers, so he texts someone asking them to call him ASAP so he can free himself. Brigitte goes to the bathroom for some privacy. RoDiego pretends to be talking to "Robles" about a matter that can't wait and will be resolved this very afternoon, with no interruptions. Brigitte got the message. RoDiego tells Natalia he trusts her good taste, so make the decisions without him. Brigitte tells Alberto she's holding down the fort at Caprico, so she's got to get back to the office ASAP.
Morales continues drooling, El continues ignoring Kimberly as much as possible, but she's chattering with Morales and he throws them out if they can't shut up and let him work.
Natalia's wedding dress is a tribute to pleats and ruffles. I never thought I'd say this, but there aren't nearly enough ruffles. I don’t like seeing the un-ruffled portion of each layer. Irene tells Trini she designed it as if she were designing her own daughter's wedding dress. She gives Trini strict instructions to hide the dress so Natalia won't see it.
Alonso shows up at Karina's, sober but determined, and says this little game is over. Karina goes for her cell phone, to send a text and a picture of them in bed to Irene. "Go ahead." He almost walks out, but Karina taunts him with "1…2…." He rips the phone out of her hands and she falls and hits the back of her head on the coffee table. He deletes the message and the picture first, then he gets concerned when he can't rouse her.
Brigitte finds the wedding dress. Greeeeeat.
Morales and Kimberly have some coffee and cookies and chat. I tune them out. The empanadas have their unfortunate gastrointestinal effect on him.
Brigitte, in the dress, which now looks a lot more grey/silver is waiting for RoDiego in his office. Carmen walks in shortly after he does and sees Brigitte in the dress. She's furious at Brigitte acting like RoDiego's personal model, showing off her sister's wedding dress, and with what right?! Irene comes in and asks pretty much the same question.
Karina's not dead, but her head hurts. She asks Al to help her to her bed before he goes for an anti-inflammatory and a painkiller. I can't tell if she's faking how dizzy she is or if she just wants to con him into carrying her to bed.
Brigitte tries to say there was no malice in it. RoDiego brushes off the superstition about not seeing the dress before the wedding day, so if that's an equally common superstition in Mexico then it's quite a stretch for Brigitte to say that she thought showing RoDiego the dress was a "nice" gesture. Irene really hauls off on her, saying Brigitte would have to have searched for the dress, not found it by accident, and Natalia is going to be upset when she finds out ("We don't have to tell her." "She doesn't have to find out.") and that what Brigitte has done is unpardonable--she's found a way to mess with her sister yet again. Irene has noticed the trend and even Carmen agrees with her. "I've excused your behavior before, but I won't ignore this." Brigitte is furious that they're treating her like this when Natalia gets forgiven for everything. Natalia, Natalia, Natalia! "I have no idea where you're getting that from," says Carmen, and Irene suggests to RoDiego that they leave and let Carmen and Brigitte have this out. Carmen demands that Brigitte explain right the hell now what she's up to, because she doesn't believe a word Brigitte is saying.
Alonso shows his credentials and gets the medications for Karina. It may be significant that the anti-inflammatory also contains a sedative.
Out in the hallway, Irene hints that she thinks Brigitte was trying to come on to RoDiego. RoDiego says there's no way, with his trademark smarmy smile on his face like he enjoys the idea.
Brigitte complains that Carmen loves Natalia more, Natalia's the favorite, she doesn't know why Carmen even had her when she already had Natalia, and that she's only ever had the crumbs of Carmen's affection. Carmen says if anything, she was more lenient with Brigitte, which she's now regretting. She can't understand where this jealousy is coming from.
B: I'm tired of you liking her better! My father wouldn't have left when I was born if you had only had Abdul. Having one of your screw-ups around was plenty.
C: You will not judge me! If God put Natalia in my hands, it was for a reason. And I have done my job as a mother for all my children! And my conscience is clear!
B: Well, I don't see how your "conscience" won't let you see that I'm your daughter and she's not! But you know what, stay with your beloved Natalia. I'm already used to not having a mother.
C: *slaps Brigitte*
B: See? You'd be incapable of hitting your Natalia.
C: Because she's never disrespected me the way you are.
B:Right! Natalia the virtuous, the talented, the "hacendosa" (hard-working). The best of your children, even if she doesn't have your blood.
C: That's right. I didn't grant her the title of Good Daughter. She's earned it every day. Why can't you be like her? Why can't you learn form her attitude instead of being filled with negative feelings?
B: So now I have to be like her for you to love me.
C: No, each of you is the way you are. All I want is for you to be less jealous and more understanding. Get that dress off and start thinking about how you're going to apologize. And from now on, I want to see you have a different attitude with her.
Brigitte flounces past RoDiego and Irene. Carmen thanks them for the use of the office and asks to speak to RoDiego, since that's why she was there in the first place.
Karina is still in pain, but Alonso reassures her that with what he's going to give her she'll feel much better…and much calmer. He soothes her and then injects something. Karina demands he take care of her all afternoon and Alonso agrees. Karina starts yawning, and insists he lie down with her, but she falls asleep before he can. "That's going to keep you out until tomorrow. Oops…forgot to tell you that, didn't I?' Again…because drugging people is funny. I don't even like Karina, but I definitely don't like this. Head injury, no testing, and he's giving her something to knock her out…that seems like a bad idea to me. Peeps with medical knowledge…can we get a beanie check on this?
Kimberly goes over to her mother's to report that the empanadas were a total success. Mami says she'll teach her more "tricks." Ugh, with these two!
RoDiego brushes off Brigitte's behavior, but Carmen calls it malicious. He apologizes again for the unfortunate view Carmen had last night of him trying to have his way with Natalia. She reminds him there are others who live in the house and any of them could have walked in. "It's only a few more days! Can't you wait!"
Tomorrow: RoDiego is on the verge of finding out who Natalia is; Diego is roused at the sound of Natalia's name.
