Deb -- snort! Not the HamStars!!! Say it ain't so!
On regards to my dependency - I will be strapped for time so I expect I'll be doing a lot of FFing and reading recaps to fill in the blanks.
I hope that Esmeeth isn't so forgiving when she finds out it was him who messed with the dna results for HER son and HER grandchild. FELS deserves an anvil for this one.
Connie might need some thunking too. Just because Izzy is in jail doesn't mean she has to marry Christian! Stop it, Connie. Just go find yourself someone who has NOT committed crimes, maybe someone hard of hearing. Jeesh.
Kelly
Just to let you know, TM has started snipping. I watched Mexico's broadcast earlier and they have cut at least 40 minutes out. Granted the stuff that was cut out was not that big of a deal but God knows what else they will take out.
Deb: You are amazing. Were you thinking the escaped fugitive who carjacked the rodents was Izzy? I certainly was!
Kelly, loved "thunking is what should be done to Estefi's head."
You guys don't even wait for the episode to bring the excellent comments!
My life is complete. Possibly the best TN meta line ever.
Too bad it wasn't intentional.
Or was it?
"Would you like a piece of cheese?"...Possibly the best TN meta line ever.
I mean seriously, does it even matter what we watch as long as we watch it together?
Caroline, I do not envy you this episode. It was all out of kilter for me. Usually I can tell what day it is by the suit, shirt and tie FELS-PELS-GELS wears and whatever it is Stefi has draped over herself. This whizzed by like Javier's knife.
How many dead people did we chalk up tonight? And, WHO the heck were they? Rocky's brother is here and gone in two seconds? Pobre de nosotros.
Anita, Head Spinning
Well, that idiot Connie has gone and married Christian, so there's a sure guarantee that he will live. Blech! I wanted to throw something at he on my TV screen.
Anita, I had the same thought as you did as I watched tonight -- I'm glad I don't have to recap this mess!
Novelera, I'm glad you enjoyed the questions!
Kelly, I suspect a lot of THUNKING will be called for before we've put this baby to bed.
Doris,
ESPECIALLY that one where Laz was dressed like a blinged out gangsta rapper! Qué the heck was that about ???
Just thank you for putting that image into words! I couldn't stop giggling! (Maybe Laz was wearing a beanie to help him get through the rest of this novela loca...)
I don't think they came out and said on the Mexican episode why Laz was dressed up like that but later, Laz tells Dra Moto that he is tired of disguising himself to try and get in and see Greta so I assume that was what was going on.
The Dragon told Reina that, If brothers have sex with the same woman within three days of each other and she gets pregnant, no one can tell which brother was the father of the baby?? Qué??
Javier sure is a good healer - there was not a single trace on his alabaster skin of being tortured.
Yep, that novela biology sure is odd. How many brothers would they have had to have mounting fertile women to test out this doozy?
Qué??? indeed! That one really threw me for a loop. If that's his way of thinking, then why on earth did he bother with a DNA test and use Victor's hair for it?
Hmmm, good question as long as Navier still believes that Reina was cheating on him with Victor while she she was with Navier so that they both could have had sex with her within 3 days of each other. Otherwise, the normal rules of DNA apply, I suppose. I think the only time in real life that a DNA test can't tell the parentage of a child is when identical twins are involved since they have identical DNA but that's from TV and might be wrong, too.
For whatever reason, the writers apparently want the paternity of this child to be a question.
I don't think it was in the broadcast episode but Abuela gave Victor a cross just like Navier's and told him it would protect him and then Victor had this long conversation with Susana about how much he loved her and apologizing for being a jerk when they were married. It was very weird. It almost seems like Victor is turning good (well, not good, but better) while Estefi is certainly turning badder. Remember when she didn't like to kill people personally? No problem now.
Lunes Part 1
Reina and Navier kiss passionately and fall on to the couch. She was dying to see him! He asks about Clarita. She is fine-she has friends. She missed him like crazy! It was necessary to be apart all this time pass so no one would suspect. He missed her a lot too!! Her eyes, her mouth-she is his paradise!
Estefy is at the hospital. Lopez comes in with his arm in a sling. He is sorry about what happened. She is sorrier. She wonders why he saved her? Why didn’t he drown her with his own hands? Estefy flashes back to FELS barging into Estefy’s doll room. He is furious and tells her not to mess with Asunción. He know about Lopez-his men were following her and saw him. Asuncion is important to him. Estefy is incensed-she is important to him? She is trash. Well if she is trash-she is my trash-its not your concern!
Dr. Moto tells FELS about a man found with diamonds in her stomach. Asunción arrives to the CIA station-FELS needs to talk to her.
Reina wonders how he was able to get her and Clarita a new identity. Remember, he is a millionaire. She wants to know how long he is going to stay-until the morning.
FELS wants to know why Asuncion wants to find her son after what happened. Because she left him when he was young and that was torture. Then she turned her back on him and that was her biggest sin. She knows that he hates her. She knows that he tried to kill her and he has every right to. No, FELS says, he doesn’t have the right to-she is his mother. He wasn’t the one who tried to kill you.
Estefy wonders why that guy swallowed her diamonds. Seems like Estefy has men following Navier. She believes he was behind Reina’s disappearance and fears they are together right now.
Reina asks Navier how can he be so sure that no one followed him? Cuts back and forth between them and Esmith. Esmith is wondering where Navier is. He tells Rocky’s brother(!) to pay attention to his chip.
Flashback to Navier telling Laz he is a secret agent. That’s why they took him from the prison like they did. It all makes sense, Laz says in amazement, Navier is like 007! He asks Laz to take his chip out. Someone is going to take it so the CIA can follow the wrong person. He wants it out without anesthesia! Laz somehow finds it and takes it out.
Victor tries to get grandma to remember where she put the documents. Greta saw her the morning of his wedding to Reina. Where did she put the documents? She didn’t put them anywhere, she gave them to someone but she can’t remember who.
She tells Victor that Greta hated Cristian-he was the one responsible for Camila’s suicide. He screamed to Camila that she was the product of rape. She saw Camila kill Mirta and Camila told her to stay silent. That silence was very hurtful for Greta. Victor tells grandma to pray for Cristian.
Cristian tells Connie to regain her life back. She doesn’t have to get back with him-but he wants her to live again. Cristina gets a text from “ Izzy” saying he wants to turn himself in. He is going to meet him. Izzy gets a text from Cristian saying they will meet in an hour by themselves. (I smell a setup!)
Victor is seen with a gun in his study. He is telling his driver that he will drive him to a certain destination. Grandma then comes into the study and gives him something (a charm?)
Back in Spain, there is a knock on the door. It’s Clara. Navier hides. He then comes out and surprises Clarita. Reina feels bad again and sits down. Clarita says she is hungry and Reina takes her to the kitchen, Navier spies a journal? And finds a piece of paper. He looks stunned!
Cut to a warehouse. Cristian is there pointing his gun yelling for Izzy to turn himself in. A gloved hand is seen pointing a gun in Cristian’s direction and shoots him. Cristina falls to the ground.
Reina goes to find Navier but he is gone. She takes out her gun but its Navier who walks through the door. He went out to buy her a pregnancy test. She is late and wants her to take a test! She acts nervous. What are you hiding from me, Navier asks.
Izzy gets to the warehouse and find Cristian shot. Izzy calls 911. Victor is seen walking away from the warehouse. It flashes back to Victor shooting Cristian however he chose to shoot him in the side rather than in the head and let fate decide his destiny. Victor’s driver gets into his car and Victor blows up the car with the driver inside!
Police arrive and find Izzy trying to help Cristian. They take him into custody.
FELS and Estefy are speaking. Estefy is scared that she won’t see Navier again. FELS says that he is not going to extract Navier out of his mission for her. She hates when he acts all “head of CIA” on her. Esmith arrives and is surprised to see FELS. You’re here?
Connie is at the police station leaving Cristian a message. She is worried. Izzy is brought in handcuffs. What happened? Cristian was shot but it wasn’t me. Is he dead, she asks. He is at the hospital but Izzy doesn’t know if he is still alive
Esmith apologized if she interrupted. No interruption, FELS was just investigating. Estefy leaves to get him coffee. Esmith says he will get to the bottom of their relationship. FELS says he can tell her what their relationship is. Since Navier is not there, he is going to be Estefy’s lover (ewww).
Reina is stumbling over her words. Yes she is nervous over the fact that she might be pregnant again. She is going to see a gynecologist but she has been taking her pills religiously. Well he wants her take the test anyway.
Esmith can’t believe it. Lovers? Yes, it’s part of my job. He will get information from her. Estefy then walks in and tells them that she wants them to find Reina.
Laz is seen in a ridiculous outfit (I’m sure we would get more context in the Mexican version). He is leaving a message for Connie about Cristian.
As Cristian is seen flat lining on the OR table, Dr Moto’s voice is heard reciting the curse of the red diamonds. It seems like diamonds are being taken out of Cristian? I was confused about this part.
Reina has taken the test. Yes I am pregnant! Navier is happy. Reina is not. It could be your child but it could also be Victor’s! He accuses her of sleeping with some random Spaniard that she met in Spain. He says hurtful things to her. She slaps him.
Izzy is in his holding cell professing his innocence.
Victor is at the hospital. He tells Connie that Cristian is stable. Connie informs him that Izzy has been arrested.
Reina tells Navier to be careful what he says. Did Victor rape her? No. Perfect, he doesn’t need to know anything else. Navier storms off.
Dr. Moto is cholophormed(sp?) by someone. They take the red diamonds. It’s Rocky’s brother!
Estefy is then seen in a meat locker with Rocky’s brother, who is tied up. Good job agent but there is something she doesn’t like about him. He betrayed FELS and he is her brother and she doesn’t like him to be betrayed. She threatens to peel off his skin and wear it as a coat. She then uses Victor’s bracelet to kill him.
Reina still doesn’t tell Navier about what happened with Victor. He is understandably hurt. The baby is yours, she says. This is what you said about Clarita and that turned out to be a lie. He will wait until science tells him the truth. But because he and Victor are brothers, it will be impossible to tell who the father is. (I didn’t get that-they are not identical-can someone explain). Reina cries out that she doesn’t deserve this and walks out.
It seems that Estefy stole Victor’s bracelet and is going to frame him for that agent’s death.
Esmith and FELS are in bed-we can’t solve everything in bed. Who says that we can’t, Esmith says. Dr. Moto than calls and tells him how there is a double agent in their midst and they took the diamonds.
Navier finds Reina’s journals. He begins to read them.
Juanco and Susana are talking. Susana’s priest friend shows up in his collar. You’re a priest, Juanco deduces.
Cristian tells Connie how his dream was to marry her. Does she want to marry him?
Navier reads Reina’s journal and discovers the truth about Reina’s night with Victor.
Victor, Estefy and Grandma are together. Grandma tells Victor that she gave the proof to a nun but then identifies the new maid (?) as the nun.
Reina asks Navier if he is going to sleep. He runs and hugs her. He begs for her forgiveness. He tells her that he knows the truth and that he has been an idiot. Why didn’t she tell him? She didn’t want him to do something rash. She would die without him.
Susana’s priest friend marries Connie and Cristian. Cristian just wanted to die knowing that Connie would leave flowers on his grave every once and a while. He then dies. Yay!
Victor is seen composing an email and sending it (didnt quite catch that)
Reina and Navier have made up and are kissing. He tells her not to move. A gunman is seen from behind. The dragon grabs a knife and stabs him. He then grabs the gun and points it at him.
Now that I know this broadcast was a mash-up of three episodes, it makes sense that Javier found & read Reina's journal, and made up with her, ALL in the same episode. Last night, it seemed out of character for him to do all that so quickly.
The scene where red diamonds were taken out of some guy's stomach confused me, too, because he looked a LOT like Christian because the beard looked like his and made it all really confusing. But, I remembered Moto saying something about finding a dead guy with diamonds in his stomach, so we knew it could not be Christian.
Stefy has definitely spiraled downward and become BSC.
How did that guy find Reina & Javier? Oh, never mind. My beanie hat fell off.
Im kinda mad because there were so many interesting scenes, which i would have loved to be shown.
But the baby is 75% Victor`s becuz Javier said to Reina " according to what he read to Reina`s diary. AS we all remember that Reina felt sick after she saw Victor torturing Javier and she threw up. And that`s why the protection didnt work! And she got pregnant!
And Javier promised to kill Victor! Reina ofcourse was against it!
Thats what happened , and Telemundo didnt show it!
thanks so much for the recap Caroline!
one little detail, Victor gave the driver the gun he used to shoot Christian before blowing him up.
and I'm confused on the diamonds, where were they last seen before ending up in Christians stomach?
Penny
Were those the 3 giant diamonds that someone ate, or was it one diamond smashed into 3 little bits?
And THAT is the costume Laz chooses for his disguise, the least subtle clothes he can find? Bwahahahaha. Still love this show even though I have no idea what is going on.
Kelly
ps. Travel advice side note- Anyone have suggestions on what to do in Puebla? Gone next week (bless you all for the recaps in advance!), and while Oaxaca is figured out, Puebla to-do list is still being worked on.
There are all sorts of QTH's for me in this episode. Among them is where the " good at almost everything" Javier took his genetics courses.
Oh well, just tighten my beanie to its last setting.
Penny
I don't recall there being any explanation in the Mexican version about how or why there were red diamonds in Christián. It seemed like Victor wanted to frame Izzy for shooting Christián but why then shoot diamonds into Christián, if that is what he did, and why blow the other guy up in the car? The whole thing makes no sense at all.
I also saw the different earlier scene mentioned by Caroline that I don't think was in the broadcast version where Dra Moto assisted by Laz, who seems to be pretty squeamish for a nurse, take other red diamonds out of the abdomen of a corpse. Later Estefi and López wonder why the guy swallowed the diamonds.
Diamonds, schmymonds. With regards to these rocks, I'm going with the pear half in jello as my brain. I didn't get that what was being removed during surgery was diamonds. I thought: How odd that the bullet fractured into so many pieces! I need a bigger TV!
And Reina STILL doesn't know about Navier being in the CIA? She wondered how he was able to get her out of the country.
After Abuelita said that she gave the documents to the "nun" and gestured to the maid, it was said that the maid had been there for many years. So who knows?
FELS is doing his best to lose Esmeeth. I was surprised she went to bed with him after he told her he was going to seduce Estefi (just all part of the job, my dear). Of course, WE know it's his sister, but Estmeeth doesn't.
So: red diamonds. At this point in time Estefi has two obtained for her by Rocky's much less honorable brother. And Victor still has two? Anyone remember how Victor got his two? Estefi's are: one that ambulance guy gave to hooker who sold it to Navier who brought it to CIA HQ and one that Reina gave to Connie that Christian stole to frame Izzy that also ended up at CIA HQ.
I was stunned at how quickly Navier learned the truth and forgave Reina. But the episode cutting is the explanation. They probably went with his being resentful for one, maybe even two episodes.
Romy
Victor - 2 red diamonds
he got both of them from Estefi. One was the one that she bought from Middle Eastern guy and Victor forced her to give it to him or he would harm Greta or something.
The second one was the one that Estefi stole from the auction display. Victor forced her to give it to him after the theft.
Estefi presumably has the other 2, which brother of Rocky stole for her from the CIA. Estefi lost them when she was shot at her wedding (ambulance guy/hooker-singer/Navier/CIA and Reina/Connie/Christian/CIA). Estefi originally stole them from Reina and Reina got them by blackmailing Big O.
Whew! You almost need to draw a diagram. I completely forgot how Victor got his two from Estefi.
Shame on Telemundo. Are they rushing Reina to replace it with another narco-trafficante shoot-'em up drama? They should take another look. This is what we have but with lots of humor, wry references and funny looking hats.
More later when I sort out these most recent deaths. I'm going to add the author of the Diamond book as the first in the long line of minor characters. To save renumbering--He is ZERO.
I saw that same promo last night. I might give it a try. I guess it will replace Reina?
I am filling in for NovelaMaven today. Once again, three of the Mexican episodes were combined into the one broadcast here. I have indicated the cut or shortened scenes based on a comparison with the Mexican version up to almost the end of the second Mexican episode. Only the first five minutes of the third Mexican episode was on the website.

Very detailed information that could only have come from someone inside was given to the authorities.
Estefi’s Mansion
Victor tells Estefi that when one organization falls, another takes its place. He asks Estefi to be his partner in starting such an organization. Estefi tells Victor that she likes to work alone. She doesn’t want a partner, especially one like him who is treacherous, dangerous and above all, a liar. Victor loves it that she knows him so well. Vic asks if she liked how he sent her diamonds in the stomach of the messenger. Estefi is angry at what Victor did. She says that she doesn’t want half of what he has she wants it all - all four diamonds - his two to add to her two. FELS comes in and wants a full report from her. He is very busy with the fall of the Organization.

He tells them that he is not a fugitive and that he knows about Connie and Christián getting married.

Cut Scene - Reina finds a letter that Navier left for her. It says how much he loves her and if his plan goes wrong, he has made her his only heir.
Navier’s former secret hideout
Navier tells Victor that he is going to kill Victor with his bare hands. They fight. Navier wins. He starts to strangle Vic. FELS arrives and orders Navier to stop. When he won’t stop, he knocks Navier out. End of Second Mexican Episode and indication of cut/shortened scenes
Estefi’s Mansion
Susana tells Estefi that when Greta was at the boarding school, she was close to a girl who looked a lot like Camila. The girl committed suicide and Greta couldn’t handle it. She had to be put in a clinic. Victor handled it and made Susana promise never to tell anyone. Susana tells Estefi that she visited Greta in the clinic and Greta was very nasty to her. Estefi tells Susana that she thinks that there is something that they don’t know yet and will wish they didn’t know.
CIA Headquarters
Navier is in a hospital room. Laz comes to see him. Navier asks him to help him escape from there. Laz says it is impossible. Laz is told to leave. Navier pretends to have some medical problem and the guard goes for help. Navier is on his way out the door when FELS comes in.
Estefi’s Mansion
Susana shows Estefi some articles from a London paper when Greta was at boarding school. One picture shows a girl who was found dead in the bathtub. She looks just like Camila.
CIA Headquarters
FELS comes to see Esmeeth in the jail cell. He says that he is glad that she is taking time to relax. He brings Navier to spend some time with her. Navier tells him that he failed this time but he will kill Victor.
Dra Montoya comes to see Vic who is also in the CIA hospital in somewhat worse condition than Navier. Vic wants to be released. Dra Montoya replies that he isn’t in a position to make demands. The next day he will have a long interrogation.
Esmeeth turns off the camera in the cell. She tells Navier that he is smart. If he kills Victor, the only one who will be arrested is her.
FELS calls Reina. He says that Navier asked him to call her. Reina doesn’t believe him. She wants to know where Navier is.
Esmeeth tells Navier that Big O left another of his messages from beyond the grave saying that if Victor is killed, she will go to prison because the missing treasure will show up. Esmeeth has it - she stole it.
Spain
Reina is desperate for news of Navier. She deceives the guard and starts to escape from the house. She says that she has to find Navier. She is about to leave when Asunción shows up in a ridiculous wig.
CIA Headquarters
Victor is taken to interrogation. Navier is watching with FELS. Dra Montoya does the questioning. Victor says that he remembers walking past her six years ago in the mental hospital in London! Dra Montoya claims that she isn’t affected by his information. She shows him the picture of Rocky’s brother. Victor says that he doesn’t know him. Navier, the human lie detector, tell FELS that Victor is telling the truth. Victor continues to needle Dra Montoya about her past mental problems. Then Victor is being released. At the elevator, Dra Montoya says that Vic was visiting his daughter at the mental hospital 6 years ago. What was her diagnosis? Vic replies that Greta was diagnosed with depression. He flashes back to Greta admitting that she killed the other student.
Spain
Reina agrees not to leave the house. She will wait for Javier as long as she needs to. She won’t go back to Vic’s house. He must never know that the baby might be his. Asunción makes a face like maybe Victor already knows this.
Editing isn't doing this show any favors.
If T'mundo continues with the 3:1 tijeras, then Tierra de Reyes will start here three hours after it does in Mexico!
The news about Greata in an institution *and* killing that girl were rather shocking. WHY would she kill a Camila dopplegänger? Sibling rivalry transference?
Now I wonder if Greta will never wake up from her coma, leaving Laz to hook up with DocMoto.
Isn't Roman the most perfect telenovela-kid? He's never around, never needs a sitter, never needs anything, and only shows up to deliver his lines.
And Jean, thank you for adding back all those scenes that Telemundo -- or should we call them TeleInmundo now -- cut out last night (Tuesday). Maybe the real fugitives are the HamStars themselves.
It looks like the whole PILAR character got a lot more time in the Mexican version and here they are only showing the bits that they deem absolutely necessary to keep their 23 or so viewers watching.
It also seems as if they've been cutting some nice tour de force monologues and dialogues that add dimension to familiar characters, filling in questions about their past. I wish there were a good way to watch these scenes without wasting hours and hours combing through the dross.
I'm just going to sit back and go the pear half in Jello route for the rest of this one. The weird 11th hour "dismantling of the organization" makes no more sense in the Mexican version than it does in the one shown here. It feels as if the writers were already being pressured to wrap it up.
The thing about Greta is a shock. Like Doris, I wonder if it is a way to get rid of Greta (the product of two monsters...doomed to be a monster herself) and have Laz and Moto end up together.
Doris, once again you crack me up with your description of Román as "the perfect telenovela kid." :D
From what I understand, they only started filming TdR in the last few weeks. Your assessment may not be too far off, Doris!
Now, back to Reina--
Does anyone remember how Estefy was reading about the Red Diamond Curse as Greta was twirling in the air?
To me that implied that GRETA was somehow cursed. I'm too pear-half in jello, but I would really like hear some Crock-Pot (™) Theories or have someone explain what I missed?
"Does anyone remember how Estefy was reading about the Red Diamond Curse as Greta was twirling in the air?
To me that implied that GRETA was somehow cursed"
Yes, I DO remember. Estefi had googled, RED DIAMONDS, MALDICIONES (or something) and we got her voice-over as Greta tumbled through space. At the time, I thought that Estefi herself was cursed, but in retrospect, it might seem that the curse was on Greta...if you believe in curses and not just a double NATURE NURTURE whammy.
The problem with the red diamond "curse of misfortune" is that everyone must be under the curse because there is nothing but disasters and misfortune until the Gran Final. The curse business on RdeC has been pretty vague. There is the weird "year to get your diamonds together" period, after which, I guess, there are more disasters. Then it is not at all clear what happens when the four diamonds get together. There was some suggestion that the holder of four diamonds gets superpowers or something.
wow Jean, your recap was the best ever!
I am so appreciative of the time and effort that you put into this one.
so wait, did Victor have all 4 diamonds, (but no Reina) how did he get the 2 from the CIA, and I keep going back to Isidro fiddling with Christian's wounds like he is trying to help, but did he push in the diamonds?
so is the score now Victor 2, Estefi 2?
interesting Estefi didn't make it to the game, but then she slipped out to steal a diamond during the last one.
and did Victor look surprised when he heard there was another poison pulsera, I guess his is still in the cookie jar, he better check.
I don't know what Reina is complaining about, her life in Spain must have been so nice until Javier showed up again. (and I so hate when the doctor doesn't tell the patient anything, but leaks it to everyone else)
ooo, tales from the maniconio, and just in time for Halloween.
” ooo, tales from the maniconio, and just in time for Halloween.”
BwaHahahahaaaaa!!!
BTW, deb, HIPAA laws never exist in TelenovelaLand. Even if the telenovela takes place in the USA. EVERYBODY except the patient knows what is going on. ~snort~
I want to know where Reina’s blood clot is located because she coughed up blood.
Here’s the thing I don’t get: whoever has all four diamonds really has no guarantee of a happy life ever after. Here is what Javier read about the legend in that red book last week (per Mauricio’s recap: ”. . .When the four diamonds were together all was good for the kingdom until greed and hatred ended that wealth and abundance. The prince, his heir, killed the king to steal the diamonds but was only able to steal two. . . .”
Whoever ends up with them will only have peace and happiness for … a while! Then all hell breaks loose again, per the nature of man and seven deadly sins, etc., yadda, blahblahblah.
I am going to " Just let it go, let your brain float like a canned pear half in partially-set red jello... " because if my telenovela beanie hat gets any tighter, my brain will explode.
"Could the murderer(s) be planning their crimes according to the Diamond Book?"
It reminded me of a similar plot in La Casa de al Lado. Everyone gets all excited about a book written years ago, its author supposedly long dead, but whose story seems eerily ominous, predicting who will be the next to fall. It turns out that the book was written by one of the characters. Maybe the diamond book -- and all the diamond myths -- have been written and planted on the internet by someone VERY CLEVER and VERY TWISTED and VERY OBSESSED WITH DIAMONDS.
ME? I'm seeing RED and they are not diamonds. How dare they mess with our Reinamaniacland?
RED JELLO sounds good to me, too....how 'about a whole bath in partially-set red jello. Think of all the pear halves that would fit in a bathtub--Reina's would probably require a truckload of canned pears. (Is there any other kind?)
RANT not over.
Our Dragon is getting tiresome in his shortened version. He flies to Spain to spend one night with Reina and then it's back to LV for a serious poker game where his life or Victor's is at stake? WITHOUT JET LAG? He's either on something or used Marcela's Broom (memories of Eva Luna).
Yeah, Greta's crime, covered up by concerned papa, eliminates her from the happily ever after with Laz. What happens to her bebe, though? The minute I saw Laz in a CIA uniform I knew it was all over for Greta anyway. How did he get clearance? He has a prison record for robbing. Ahem, did any one do a background check on him?
So getting interned in a psychiatric hospital for the "criminally insane" is also where you put persons with depression? Give me a break--Victor always remembers a face? Give two breaks.
Actually instead of ranting, I should be sending cake or brownies, vintage wine, artisan cheeses and crusty bread to the writers. I think they must be feeling wretched right now. Their brilliant, creative work, unique among telenovelas, chopped to pieces by uninformed execs who are only looking at ratings drawn from the statistics collected from the unwashed multitudes.
I could have tolerated one or two episodes combined into a single, but three episodes TWICE, IN A ROW? Again, for shame Telemundo (and you don't deserve the name).
OK, now RANT over.
So, my only concern for the rest of the telenovela is: Will Reina lose the baby? That would take care of all the doubts.
Well, a few nagging questions remain...who is the king--was it Big O? Who is the heir? Victor or Javier. According to the legend, the princess who is locked up by the king is rescued by a prince, but she dies and he mourns her for the rest of his life. Tell me it doesn't end this way.
I want Reina de Corazones to go out BAILANDO.
(P.S. At least I have a fall-back. I'm loving Quiero Amarte.)
A Very Angry Anita
Anyone else notice that Javier had on the same dark gray cable t-neck sweater for a couple of days -- in Spain and once back planning the big poker night? Does he wash it out every night? Does he own a dozen? Has he been wearing this same sweater all along and I'm just now noticing??? Inquiring minds want to know. Well, not really...
Javier has a record, too, and he's now an agent. I guess it's okay if Laz is one, too. Right? LOL
And, seriously, who is watching Roman??? Oh, never mind. Laz must have one awesome daycare or babysitter.
Te.Escuchamos@telemundo.com
I just did. I don't understand why they can't show the whole thing in a non-peak time slot if they are in such a hurry to get the 7pm slot for the next guy.
P.S. If I were Tele-Inmundo, I wouldn't be betting the farm on Aaron Diaz.
Are we in for more black SUV's, horses, sombreros and no telephones, but the latest medical procedures for burn victims?
Not to mention the mariachi concerts.
And the nun to baby ratio of 1-1?
The only thing I watched this in the recent re-run was to read CarayCaray to laugh my belly off and WAIT with baited breath for the arrival of Cristian de la Fuente and mourned his summary dismissal. (I'm so glad I wasn't around for the original run.)
I'm mad at the cutting too especially since a lot of important stuff is being left out like Dra. Moto being knocked out etc. The stuff with Pilar is also important. I'm shocked to find out she is an important character and not just a maid who works at Casa De Rosas. I was shocked to find out Greta is a murderer and that she had been institutionalized.
It would have been so much more realistic to tell her she has preeclampsia and needs complete bed rest instead of a blood clot. That would have kept her put for awhile.
remember the shower scenes?
And the swimming hole scenes?
And more shower scenes?
The E.coli bakery?
Libia's glowing flower in the cave?
AND Pablo Montero singing Abe Maria in the key of R?
Ahhh, good times. I'm feeling better already, though that might be due more to the partially set red jello effect .
At least the Tierre de Reyes cast is age appropriate and not pushing 50 y/o while trying to play twenty-something y/o characters.
It wasn't exactly spotting. We saw Reina double over in pain and then put her hands down, then hold them up with what appeared to be a significant amount of blood. It really did look like vaginal bleeding, too much to be contained by her skimpy Camille undies.
The doctor said she had a hematoma. That actually makes sense -- it's a collection of blood accumulated between the placenta and its attachment to the wall of the uterus. It stems from a partial detachment of the placenta. Sometimes the pregancy continues and the remaining blood is just resorbed, but it's a dicey thing and can often presage a miscarriage.
I have been laughing so hard over the image that this evokes, that I need Greta 's respirator. Wouldn't her hand had to have been between her legs to catch THAT if it was not from her big cough? Let's not even imagine the condition of said undies..... GROSS!
I'm sticking with it being coughed up. LOL
Jean, you are SUCH a trouper to watch those Mexico-shown episodes and fill us in on what we're missing. This novela has been so fast moving and intricate that cutting it up like they're doing just about completely ruins it.
I must say I did LOVE seeing Victor get the crap beat out of him.
I'm up to HERE with FELS. He tells Esmeeth that he faked the DNA results to keep Navier cool and collected for his job duties, when he actually did it for another round of separating Reina and Navier so his Twisted Sister can have the man she wants.
I hope the Giants pull it out tonight, Novelera!!!
I hope they aren't leaving out any dead bodies. It certainly will throw off my count. See you all in the am.
Does anyone believe Izzy will follow through with Victor's order?
Curiosity leads to Trouble
Or so says Moto's t-shirt. (The fierce tiger logo suggests it isn't always the cat who gets killed.) After her elevator face-off with Victor De Rosas -- who knew Victor would have seen Moto in the manicomio in London and remembered her? -- she tells FELS-PELS she has doubts about the real reason for Greta's psychiatric hospitalization.
Hellooo Lopez!
Estefi walks and talks into her cell. "Let's go, Lopez. I'm ready." But she ends up going with Victor instead, his gun pointed at her ribs providing a powerful incentive to accompany him. "Where to?" He should be taking her to hell, but they're going somewhere considerably colder.
Traffic on a highway...
Victor, his arm still in a sling from doing battle with the Dragon, pushes Estefi into the grisly refrigerator where fresh furs and skins are stored. "So this is where you killed a man with a rip-off Injecto-Death 3000?" He points his gun at Estefi. She holds up a hand as if to shield her face, perhaps to buy a little time. "Kill me if you want, but tell me first: Is our daughter a murderer?"
Flashback: Schoolgirl Greta stands over a bathtub where her bitchy roommate luxuriates in the bubbles and taunts her. "Want a drink? No, little virgins like you drink milk, not whiskey. Poor Greta -- so pure, such a fool. Just looking at you makes me want to laugh. Are you planning to take your virginity to your grave?"
The roommate closes her eyes. Greta says nothing. There's a trace of a smile on her face. She holds a pocket knife.
Victor's voice takes over the narrative:
"Greta walked up to her with a knife; and with surgical precision, she cut her veins. Greta was... possessed. The girl's family didn't want a scandal so they refused an autopsy.
"At that moment, Greta became a murderer. She carries your blood and mine. Her destiny was written -- the destiny of anyone who carries our blood."
Las Vegas, the next day...
[I'm sure a bunch of interesting stuff happens in the interim, but apparently Tele Inmundo feels you don't need to know about it.]
Four Months Later...
Madrid
I'm pretty sure it's a different sweater
Navier slips into Reina's bedroom where she lies sleeping, her pregnancy now obvious. "Here I am, my Reina." She opens her eyes to the sound of his voice: "Tell me that you came to stay forever." His answer is a sweet lingering kiss. Then he kisses her belly.
In VictorSpeak, "To take care of" means "to kill"
A team of doctors huddles over Greta (presumably she has remained in a coma all this time). One of them holds a giant telenovela baby aloft, newly delivered and wailing. Victor watches through the glass wall. "It's a girl. What a shame. I might have wanted it to live. (Quizás me hubiera gustado que viviera). She's fighting against death, just like her mother. But she is destined to die."
Victor addresses Izzy, never taking his eyes off the scene in front of him: "If that child manages to survive, you'll have to take care of her."
"You can't ask me to do that, sir," says Izzy. "I don't know anything about babies."
Victor finally turns to face Izzy: "I mean kill her."
¡Sorpresa!
Lázaro and Juanjo enter an apartment. Laz sets some shopping bags down. He wants to surprise lonely Moto with a few birthday gifts.
¡Mi Bon Bon Asesino!
While Laz is setting up a surprise for Moto, Juanjo pokes around and finds something that surprises Laz: a file on Greta. Laz opens it, sees a photo of Greta and of her roommate. "Elena Stewart" he reads, "was found dead in a bathtub with her wrists cut...Greta: ¡la virgen asesina!" Double caras de holy guacamole!
Christian Palacios survived, damn it!
Moto and her team are processing a crime scene in a kitchen. The Worst Cop in Las Vegas, who has improbably and disappointingly rebounded from the brink of death, studies a report. "It says here that Pilar Gómez entered at 2 pm. Presumably she was expecting someone."
"My people are at the De Rosas mansion," says Moto. "They checked the security cameras. And of course I'll be doing an autopsy."
Esmeeth phones Moto from the mansion. She has the camera footage. She's with grandma, who is crying and praying for her poor girl. May God forgive her sins!
If that pool table could talk...
Estefi is showing off her form with a pool cue when Victor joins her and says he is there to hear her proposal. After a little pro forma dirty talk, she gets to the real agenda: She wants them to put their four diamonds together. Is she going to give him hers? No. And he's not going to give her his. They're going to bring them together in a neutral place to end the curse.
Victor is skeptical. "What you want is to end up with all four." Estefi swears that's not so. A year has passed and the curse has fallen on both of them.
Madrid
Asunción is still wearing the stupid wig she arrived in four months earlier
Clara, Reina and Asunción enjoy breakfast together. The Dragon joins them. He and Clara speak of stories and drawings of dragons and queens. We hear the school bus arrive for Clara. Asunción thanks Navier for the gift of these wonderful months. She walks Clara to the bus.
I have something in my eye
Reina and Navier are alone at the table. She can tell there's a problem. What is it?
"I have a microchip." "What???"
"I was thinking about when my eye started bothering me..."
Flashback: Navier is in a CIA cell. He drinks some coffee. He feels oddly groggy. His head hurts. He falls asleep. When he wakes up, he notices an odd smell to his clothing, a hospital smell. He realizes he has been knocked out. He examines his clothes thoroughly. He checks his body for scars. He finds nothing.
"Because they put the chip in his eye! They must know where he is now. There's no escape."
De Rosas Mansion
So sad about Pilar
Esmeeth can't reach Victor. Grandma says he'll be very sad when he hears what has happened to Pilar. Esmeeth tells her she'll be called in to make a statement. As soon as Esmeeth leaves the house, Grandma relaxes. She sighs with relief.
Madrid
Compare and Contrast
Reina despairs as she watches Navier packing his suitcase. "No! We're a couple! I thought we were finally going to be together!" Navier promises they'll have their new life together, a life far from dangers, threats, death, diamonds -- away from all of it.
Quick cut to the villains in black, Estefi and Victor, who seem to be mating but, for all we know, may be getting ready to kill each other. Estefi loves the adrenaline. "And the diamonds," says Victor. "And the danger," says Estefi. "And the forbidden," says Victor.
In Madrid, Reina tells Navier she doesn't ♫want to hide their love away♫ On the contrary, she wants to tell the world "you're ♫MY GUY♫" He promises it will be that way.
Back to the villains...
"You and I are the same," says Victor. "We like mystery, the hunt..." "Cheating, deceit," continues Estefi breathily as they couple on the couch.
While in Madrid, Navier makes this promise to his beloved: "I'm going to give you a life without lies."
A life in the shadows murmurs Estefi.
A life full of love whispers Reina.
We're condemned to a life without love.
(Though clearly replete with sex.)
Greta the Ripper
Moto is back in her apartment. She tells Laz it all started when Victor recognized her from the psychiatric hospital in London. Yes, it's true. Years ago, she was a patient there for four months.
Greta's boarding school roommate repeatedly humiliated her. She used to call her "Greta, the virgin." Moto personally investigated the case. The girl didn't kill herself -- the cuts on her wrist were just too perfect to be self-inflicted.
There's more, but right now Moto has to go to the CIA to do an autopsy. She thanks Laz for his gifts (including a new helmet) -- she had forgotten it was her birthday! She hands him the report and tells him he can read all the details for himself.
Laz doesn't get it. It's as if Moto is talking about a different person, another Greta. "Maybe she was a different person when you met her," says Moto. "Maybe you changed her life."
Back to Business
Estefi proposes a safe that opens only when their fingerprints are presented simultaneously. That would be their diamonds' new house. Victor likes the idea.
Honey, does this suit make me look androgenous?
Reina is wearing a man's suit and tie and a wig purchased at a Diana Ross tag sale. The idea is for her to leave the house unnoticed. Everyone has to think she is still inside with Navier.
Clara and Asunción will go directly to the place he arranged for them. Two men are going to arrive with a delivery. One of them will go with Reina. The other will hide. They won't suspect anything.
And what is Navier going to do? He's going to make his escape.
Esmeeth, it's old news to these two.
Esmeeth informs Victor and Estefi that Pilar Gómez has been found dead with the mark of the diamond on her.
She brings Victor back to her office for questioning.
I didn't know that YOU knew
Esmeeth knows that Pilar was his lover. She also knows that Pilar was a member of a criminal organization, the very organization that wanted the head of Reina Ortiz. How odd that she was an employee in the De Rosas household and privy to Victor's most intimate secrets.
Flashback: Grandma remembers she gave the evidence to a nun. She points at Pilar: "I gave it to her!"
"You had her right under your nose all that time and you never realized it," says Esmeeth.
Flashback: Pilar sits in Victor's lap and lets him slobber over her.
"Maybe the information she had about you cost her her life," says Esmeeth.
Like a refugee from a "B Movie film-noir
FELS-PELS-GELS, wearing a trench coat and carrying a gun, sneaks into the Dragon house in Madrid. "Damn," he says as he looks around at what appears to be an empty house. Then Navier enters the room. "Were you looking for me?" "Yes, Agente Bolívar."
A heartbeat later, Mr. Reina walks in. "Now I understand everything, AGENTE BOLIVAR."
How I became a Secret Agent or The Knight's Tale
Navier tells Reina about the deal he made with the CIA in exchange for his liberty. After several years and missions, Reina herself was his mission
Reina has removed the wig, tie and jacket. FELS takes off his trench coat and sits down on the couch to listen, ready to correct Navier if he errs in the telling.
"You were going to recognize me on your wedding day..."
"Why?" asks Reina sadly.
"Because you were the link to Victor De Rosas. But you saw me, you ran after me, you had that accident and that ended the plan...which was for you to fall in love with me again."
FELS smirks in a way that makes me want to smack him right through the television screen.
[Thank goodness for nerfazos™]
"Something which you accomplished," he says.
Bitterly, Reina shakes Navier's hand and pats him on the shoulder. "I congratulate you, Agent. Mission accomplished."
I may be a murderer, but I never lie!
Grandma confesses to Victor and Estefi that she killed Pilar. "Why did you kill her, grandma?" "Because yesterday I caught her snooping in your desk. When she was in the shower, I read an email on her phone: She ratted you out. She said you had taken down the organization. She sent photos and everything."
Victor realizes he is screwed. They're going to send people for him to get their revenge.
Grandma says she sent Pilar an email setting up a meeting with her, pretending she was from the organization. "Don't look at me like that. I'm old, but I'm not a fool."
Flashback Pilar arrives at the appointed time. Abuela offers her money in exchange for the evidence. Pilar refuses. "Victor betrayed us," she says primly.
Grandma Paz made sure she left no trace of herself at the crime scene. What's important is that the girl is dead and Grandma has the evidence (las pruebas).
[Um...okay. Victor is safe from the authorities, but the supposedly dismantled organization is after him. Right.]
Madrid
El Supremo made me do it
"When I saw you marrying the man who sent me to jail..." begins Navier.
FEL-PELS-GELS interrupts him, warning him to be discreet. Navier ignores him.
"...I wanted revenge, but I couldn't stop loving you if I wanted to. You're my mission -- the mission of my life."
Reina replies: "After all the lies and secrets and strategies, after finding out that I was a mission for you, just another job -- after all that, it's very hard for me to believe in your love, Agente Bolívar."
Reina takes a breath. Then she turns to FELS and, all business, asks him what the next step is. Was her pregnancy part of the plan?
It wasn't, FELS assures her. Navier has a habit of ignoring the plan. "Not always," says Navier. "My wedding to Estefi was part of the plan. I married her because you ordered me to do it. When I wanted to marry Reina and leave everything behind, you're the one you held me back. I didn't stand Reina up to get revenge on her. I wasn't a free man."
"And you never will be," says FELS. He smiles again. I reach for the nerfazos...
We ARE the curse
"I'm ready," says Victor into his phone. He is outside by the pool. "I have the two babies with me." Estefi sits in her diamond vault. She says she has her two little ones with her and she wants to end the curse. He tells her the curse is being who they are but he'll play along with her.
Suddenly he breaks off the conversation. "Abuela?" He runs to the pool and pulls out the old woman's body. He tries to revive her.
The hospital
Lázaro has managed to get to Greta's bedside. He had to be there, he needed to be close to her, to touch her, and to understand how she -- who was going to be the mother of his children -- could be a murderer.
.CIA headquarters
What if the blonde and the redhead joined forces?
Esmeeth phones FELS-PELS-GELS, ostensibly to inform him of Pilar's murder. She keeps him talking long enough for Moto to trace the call. Now they know he is in Spain!
Madrid
Isn't Navier going to say anything else? He doesn't have to. Reina knows perfectly well what he feels.
FELS joins them again. Navier says Reina must keep her new identity as "Barbara Benítez" and the quiet, safe life that goes with it.
"I can defend myself," says Reina. Navier disagrees. Left on her own, she'd be dead now. Besides, there's Clara to consider and the baby on the way. And Victor can't know about her pregnancy.
"Whose child is she expecting?" asks FELS. "Mine," says Navier. "That's why she has to be safe and far away from Victor, even if it means she's far away from me."
Yes, agrees FELS. Reina can stay in Spain, but Navier must return with him. And there can be absolutely no contact between them.
Reina has had enough. She can't stand these two talking about her as if she weren't in the room. She's not following any of FELS's orders! She's not going to hide!
As for Navier, he's a goddamned liar! She'd like to run out of there and never see him again. But she can't...because of her baby...and because in spite of everything, she loves him. And if she has to die, she wants to die with him -- because she loves him!
Navier loves her too -- there's nothing more important than her life and her baby's life...
Boo F-ing Hoo
FELS is tired of their tearful love story. The reality is that Navier has to go back to Las Vegas and his WIFE and deal with things far more important than his personal drama. The real question is this: Can FELS count on him?
I trust you with my diamonds
Estefi comforts Victor. Why does she act like she's his wife? Because they used to be a couple...and because. well, ..he knows why.
He fumbles in his pockets and pulls out his two red diamonds. "Take them," he tells her. But she has the safe ready and they have to open it together -- he remembers, right? "I trust you," he says. "Take them." He places the velvet bag in her hand. If he wants them back, he'll ask for them. There's been enough bloodshed. "Take them."

You two kids can run along and play
FELS announces he has a few things to do in Madrid so Navier and Reina can spend a final couple of hours together.
Greta's bedside
Her eyelids flicker open. Bienvenida, says Lázaro softly.

Estefi was the one who ruined our lives!
Finally, in their bed still warm from their passion, Reina tells Navier the truth. It was Estefanía who told her that Nicolás Núñez was dead. Reina couldn't tell him before because Victor and Estefi threatened her.
Why did Estefi do it? Maybe out of love. "Or out of hate," says Navier.
Spin the Diamond
Estefi sits in her vault, gazing at the four red diamonds, twirling them idly with a fingertip. She is surprised by Lázaro's call. "Greta is awake," he tells her. Estefanía is ecstatic. "The curse is over!"
Greta's bedside
Dr. Payola slithers out of the room. The respirator is gone. Greta is conscious. What happened? Laz tells her she was in a coma. He has called her family and they are on their way.

Navier tells Reina that for now, no one else must know what she just told him. NO ONE. "Not even the CIA?" "Not even them." So what is Navier going to do? Will he go back to Estefi's arms as Picasso has ordered? Again?
CIA
What's Victor to you?
Moto reports to Esmeeth that Grandma Paz didn't drown. She suffered a blow to the head that caused her death before she was placed in the pool. There was no water in her lungs. Esmeeth says it's going to be hard to find her killer. It's someone within the organization and it's likely they are gunning for Victor too.
Moto is puzzled by her colleague's apparent concern for De Rosas. Why should Esmeeth care about what happens to Victor?
Madrid
Navier is ready to return to Las Vegas with FELS-PELS-GELS. Victor and Estefanía had better be prepared. They're going to pay with blood for all the suffering they have caused him. Creepy FELS says nothing.
So how many episodes will they cram in tomorrow night?
This was another 3 in 1 but a lot of the cut scenes were of Juanjo and Susana. Susana has been going to a bar but one night she gets really drunk and passes out but not before announcing to everyone that she is in love with Juanjo. The obliging bartender finds Juanjo's number on her phone and calls him. JJ leaves Yolanda in his bed, brings Susana to her house and spends the rest of the night with her. He has yellow socks with some kind of black pattern on them. Susana tells JJ that it was she who found Greta holding a knife over the dead Camila look alike in the bath. For some reason, this event has ruined the rest of her life.
There was also a lot of scenes of Izzy and Connie that were cut. Izzy goes to confession and tells a priest, who apparently has taken a vow of silence, that he is a mafioso but he has principles and doesn't harm children or animals. He doesn't want to kill Greta's baby. He also has been spying on Connie. This apparently is Connie's church and she shows up.
Later, Christián tells Connie about the three new Injecto-Dealth 3000 murders and she concludes that Izzy was responsible. She goes to the DeRosas mansion to confront Izzy but they end up having sex. Christian is there to talk to Victor and he sees them together, post sex, but in suspicious circumstances. Connie tells Christián that she is pregnant. Izzy is impactado.
Navier left goodbye notes when he went to Spain. Estefi is furious when she reads her note to FELS. It says that he is sorry that he couldn't say goodbye to her face to face but he has to leave and it ends, take care of yourself. Estefi is sure that Navier is with Reina.
Navier leaves Esmeeth the baby clothes that he was found in and a formal note. She shows it to Dra Moto and tells her that she now agrees that FELS is a monster. He let he stay in prison for four months and never even came to see her.
Victor tells Dr. Payola that no one must ever find out that Greta had a baby. Susana finds out that Greta was in taken to the operating room but Victor tells her that it was an infection.
Navier tells Reina that he didn't kill Victor because of Big O's threat to send Esmeeth to prison. Reina tells Navier that she has told Clara that she is in love with him and she tell him that her baby is a boy.
The microchip business was more fleshed out. We saw FELS having it put in Navier's eye and later he complains to Reina about feeling something in his eye before the scene that we saw where he figures out that he has a chip there.
The scene with Victor and Estefi having sex was much longer and more explicit with Victor zipping up his fly and Estefi stuffing her pantyhose behind a cushion when Esmeeth shows up.
There was a scene of Estefi comforting Victor after Abuela dies.
They cut the scene where Estefi puts the four diamonds together for the first time and talks about breaking the curse and ending all the death. That scene is intercut with Laz going into Greta's hospital room and seeing her wake up.
Those were the highlights.
wow, what a wonderful recap NovelaMaven!
it was such a delight to read, everything just flowed along,
nothing like what I watched.
and thanks Jean for filling in some of the cuts!
Jean - thank you for filling us in with the info from the cut scenes.
So Javier kept his newborn clothes all these years? Even while he was in prison? Beanie hat time . . .
So I guess Connie and Christian are settling down into married life all these four monthes ... (eew)
Whoa, Greta is a killer. Yikes.
I wonder what happened to her baby?
Well, Abuela is now off the payroll.
PFGELS has got to go.
And I'm still doing that pear-half in jello thing . . .
I wrote down some lines that I loved, but it's just the tip of the iceberg:
"Christian Palacios survived, damn it!"
"Though clearly replete with sex"
"There's something in my eye."
"Honey, does this suit make me look..."
"Donna Summer tag sale."
I don't think I will even bother to watch the episode. Your recap is too good, NovelaMaven.
(PS: I've missed what GELS stands for.)
Aw, Deb, that is so nice of you. I admit I was trying extra hard to make the recap cohesive and coherent because the episode itself was neither of those things.
"So Javier kept his newborn clothes all these years? Even while he was in prison? Beanie hat time . . ."
Yeah, that can't be the whole story. Someone else must have been holding the stuff and then later gave it to Navier. He has said more than once that the ONLY THING he kept all that time was LA CRUZ.
Sara Thanks so much! As I said, I'm trying extra hard to figure out how this collage of scenes fits together as a story and then convey that in the recap. The Patio deserves as much, even if Tele Inmundo doesn't seem to think so. (I do love it when you enjoy me cracking wise!)
Don't worry. Real life always comes first! (Besides, you have always been so generous -- Damgenerous! -- in volunteering to fill in when we need someone.)
If no one else volunteers before the show begins at 7pm central time, I'll do it.
Victor had a vasectomy after Greta murdered her roommate. He was convinced that any child of his and or Estefanía was doomed to repeat the sins of the fathers.
That's one of the reasons he allowed others to believe that Clara was his daughter: he was sterile (by choice) but didn't want to advertise that fact.
And that's why we know that Reina must be carrying Navier's baby (which means the kid is still Big O's grandkid, but at least the evil is somewhat diluted.)
[I do agree with Penny's earlier comment that it is Deus ex machina time on the Patio and has been ever since the writers were told to shorten the story they had planned. So seemingly insoluble situations will be resolved by sudden CRAZY revelations. Perhaps they have a banner hanging in the production office: The Show Must Go Off!]
FELS fell off my ladder of Supreme beings last night. He's a Supreme manipulator--as is Victor with Stefi merely a runner up.
It was bad enough to see his attitude towards Javier and Reina last night. He tried to deflect (nay, he lied about) his responsibility for his order that Javier marry Stefi as part of a "plan." Yeah, his plan to separate Javier and Reina.
Why is FELS so interested in keeping Reina and Javier apart? He's the one who first ordered him to get close to Reina. If the "mafia-type organization" has fallen apart, why can't secret agents be married and have families. Aaaacck.
If that weren't enough, we have Jean filling us in that he left Smeeth in prison for 4 months and never came to see her. Just a few episodes ago he told her he loved her and couldn't do without her, her body, her smell, her everything. WHAT A CAD. Smeeth is better off without him. His behavior reminds me of a high school boy who stops calling a girl he's been dating and avoids her in the halls, because he got tired of her or has become attracted to someone else.
And, he has the insensibility to tease Smeeth with a reason he's been seeing Stefi is to make her his lover--to extract information. He makes it sound so easy--remember OBD? And Smeeth had to watch, even though they weren't technically an item then.
Smeeth is the one FELS should have been concerned most about keeping in the CIA. She's loyal, dedicated, follows orders (more so than Javier) and HIS girlfriend. Although we know how that goes when there is a power differential and one of them is a direct line supervisor. HR nightmare (think Anita Hill and a certain Justice, CT).
OK, another thing that just slipped by us. Remember when FELS, acting as FSJ put Smeeth to a loyalty test? She was supposed to have kept some contraband, or rather it disappeared while under her control. She finally tells Javier she stole it after all. So, now who is the pure, above board agent.
They are all tainted by corruption, except maybe Lazaro who is new at the game.
So, Granny comes out of nowhere a sensible, conniving murderess. How quaint. Where did she get her Injecto-Death 3000? Are they selling them on Amazon or e-bay?
She and Pilar have just cancelled each other out on our body count list.
BIG QUESTIONS: Will they answer them before the show is over....
Why did Reina go to a Paris café wearing a red beret and meet with Andres?
Will Reina ever get her memory back? After all, Greta woke up from a coma no one expected her to ever recover from.
Will Javier ever learn Clarita is his dragona daughter? Will they be able to determine the paternity of the new baby?
Which reminds me (also thanks to Jean) are we going to have another "who-dun-it" paternity mystery with Connie's bebe?
NovelaMaven--I bow to you. There's no way I'd take on the task of a Three-Way tonight.
Anita, a furious and unrepentant Reinamaniac
Lots of good questions and rage, Anita!!
I agree that FELS is definitely in the evil group, now. When he let Estefi get away with killing someone, even a CIA mole, he crossed the line, in my opinion and the rest is just icing on the evil cake.
I can answer one of your questions. One of the deleted scenes from last night was a flashback to Granny going into Victor's secret room to replace the Injecto-Death 3000. Granny clearly had a lot more on the ball than she appeared to have. She faked a text message to Pilar, something I couldn't do!
I'm not sure that Connie IS pregnant. It looked like she just made it up to defuse the situation of her and Izzy being found together but you never know, especially with Connie. If she is pregnant, I don't think it could be Izzy's if it is true that they haven't seen each other for four months but again the writers are pretty casual about biology - consider the brothers 3-day sex rule.
Wednesday night is my long, long term advanced Spanish class. We are reading an amazing book to discuss in class. La Sombra de lo que Fuimos by Luis Sepúlveda. It's about a group of old men in present time in Chile who were exiles and some of them prisoners after the Pinochet coup because they were Allende supporters. I highly recommend it. It's humorous as well as they each recount how they've spent the intervening years.
Anyway, I watched the Giants until the third inning and then dutifully went off to class. Few fans in that class, so no one was going to look at their phone and announce the score!
So I came home and watched the rest, fingernails bitten down to my wrists.
I need a recap, because my DVR was full of baseball and didn't record Reina.
Laz spent time in prison for stealing, so he's no angel. This leaves Juanjo and/or Clarita as our only non-corrupt character(s)?
You are much too kind. (I'm going to try to get them to call me La Suprema around the house...wondering if it will fly...maybe I should start small and buy a parrot...)
Oh yes, FELS has fallen. He has never been a sympathetic character to me. (I'm not sure whether it's the writing, the acting, or both.) But now he makes me gag every time he appears on screen.
ÜberVillain Victor has an easy sociopathic charm at times; and even when he's being horrible, he somehow manages to let us in on the joke. But FELS has been consistently without charm.
BTW, Jean has stepped up and volunteered to take tonight's probable three-fer.
PLEASE CONTINUING CHATTING ON PAGE TWO!
¡Gracias!
