La Gata #117 Thursday, 2-12 Redemption

La Gata Patio PEEEEEPS!  Whaaaasssuup?  My time recapping this thang, that’s whussup!  Hallelujah and I only had minimal Lowencha and G-spot tonight!  Yes!

This will be short, I don’t know about sweet because everything centered around poor little Carlos Horacio’s diagnosis  of leukemia.  While Victor is getting this difficult news Ines, Rita and Cha Cha are back at Victor’s apartment where Ines is grilling Rita about “Garabato’s” life, does he have a wife?  Why did the child call her abuela?  Ines begs and finally Rita breaks and tells her that Carlos Horacio is her son!

Now.  If Victor told little Carlos he has leukemia, I missed it.  We are served flashbacks from earlier in the day when Carlos Horacio (CH) saved Virginia and Vic tells him he has to fight but I didn’t hear him explain why.  Papa and hijo hug tenderly.
Rita tells Ines that Victor had him all the time.  More flashbacks of CH caressing Ines’s dirty face outside the ugly building and Virginia telling her neither she nor CH have mothers;  flashback of Ines nastily bidding Rita goodbye as she left Rita’s shack to make it on her own  pile of trash.  More long scenes of Ines and Rita embracing and crying.

At the hospital Willy, Carlos and Tony console and support Victor and encourage him that there is hope that a bone marrow transplant can save CH.  Victor has given his blood to be tested and no sooner are these encouraging words spoken than the Dr. comes in and dashes his hope.  He is not a match!  He cannot donate bone marrow!  Victor collapses to the sofa in grief.  But there’s still hope the Dr. says:  Locate the mother.  He is sure that if Victor can’t she WILL be a match!

Ines has gone home and is taking a cleansing shower.  She is not only washing away the dirt and tanning spray but the filth and stench of guilt and shame.  It is an ablution to prepare her to go before the Virgin and ask forgiveness.  She knows she has no future with Garabato but at least she can earn the respect of her child.  “Maybe I can look in his eyes one day and not see shame.”  This brings on a flashback of him greeting her in he and his Papa’s apartment and telling her he was glad to see her.

Victor agonizes having to tell Ines that CH is her son.  He cries that he runs the risk that she could take CH from him!  He feels the resurgence of anger as he remembers how Ines sold newborn CH!  Carlos says that is not what’s important now, but saving your son’s life.  Victor agrees: we’ll find Ines!

Back at his apartment Victor is frantically grilling Cha Cha and Rita about Ines’s whereabouts.  Rita confesses she told Ines the truth.  Rita wants to know why Victor is so upset.  What is happening?  Just then Ines appears at the door.  If anyone has doubt she is redeemed one only needs to look at her clean face and straight hair!  Glory Hallelujah!  Victor tells her she looks good.  Victor tells them all little Carlos has leukemia.  There follow anguished exclamations of “no!” and hugs and tears.  They must go to the hospital immediately!

Esme is finally ready to leave Lo’s hell hole.  She tells Pablito and Leti that they are leaving but their dad will stay.  Pablito wants to stay then, too.  Esme says no, they will all three be together.  Dorila tells her she is making the right decision.  Pablo comes down the stairs to say goodbye to the children.  He gives them a speech that is really meant for Esme because he looks pointedly at her as he tells them  “I can’t go with you now.  When you grow up you will learn that a man is many things, a professional, a husband a father [pause for emphasis] but also a son. “  The children leave , Pablo takes Esme her by the hands and tells her “You know I love you right, with all the forces of my soul.”  Esme doesn’t answer, simply excuses herself and leaves.  This sends Pablo into a flashback of HatBro telling him that Esme has taken everything away from Lo.  Save me.

We have a brief scene of Fer and Blanca talking about how Lo has manipulated Pablo and Esme.  They agree Pablo should go with his family:  no happiness can be found in that house.  It’s cursed!  Blanca wonders why Lo hates their daughter so.  Fer thinks Lo just gets a kick out of it.  There’s no solution:  the choice is the health of Lo or the happiness of the children.  Shit.  Don’t seem like no problem to me!

Victor and Ines arrive at the hospital.  Little Carlos is in bed and his condition has deteriorated, he is visibly frail and has an oxygen cannula in his nose.   Looking at him for the first time knowing he is her son she says he looks like an angel.  Ines tries to go to her knees to beg Victor for forgiveness, he will not let her.  Little Carlos awakens and says it’s the sad lady, but now she has a clean face.  Smiles.  Ines tells him he is the most beautiful child in the world.  Carlos protests that no, his cousin Virginia is better looking than him, she is the prettiest in the world and he loves her.  Ines lays her head on his chest, he closes his eyes and we transition into the procedure room where CH is receiving the bone marrow transplant.  Their beds are side by side and she holds his hand.  Ines thinks to herself that she gave him life and would give him life a million times over.  “I was a stubborn fool; I didn’t value you, now look how you lie between life and death.”  She asks God for one thing:  that it work.  “I want to give my child the chance to live and be happy even if he is far from me, please Sir.”  We watch her hold his hand for a long moment.

Victor waits by Carlos empty hospital bed for word on the transplant.  Carlos, Tony and Willy continue to pledge their support.  They lit a candle to St. Jude so they know everything will be fine.

Back at Fer’s Jarocha is playing with the three kids.  I don’t know where the furniture is.  Jarocha’s husband comes down the stairs.  Jarocha quips that she will be an eternal aunt.  Her husband thinks in time they will be blessed with children of their own.

Oh, darn!  Thought I was going to get away with no Lo.  I’ll get through it fast:  Pablo is asleep on the sofa in her bedroom.  She wakes him up to sickeningly moan and beg for him to bring little Pablo to her.

Cut to a scene of Hatbro with a briefcase full of cash showing off to Gisela.  It’s the money Fer gave to the MN “children”.   He calls Lo stupid as she gave him all the info he needed to transfer the money to an account in his name. He wants to beat it with Gisela but she’s got too much yet to do.  Hatbro says go with me or stay here poor forever.  Trademark Gisela smug, wistful smile.  Yuck.  Thank goodness, that’s all I have to put up with of her!

Pablo is pacing as Lo wonders where Pablito is.  Pablo breaks it to her that Esme left with the children.  She upbraids him for “letting” her do “such a thing.”  Lo says Esme is going to poison his mind and make him uncontrollable like her.  Lo calls Pablo a puppet and that strikes a nerve.  He yells at her and asks when is she going to stop insulting him?  Next comes an offer I wish Pablo would take her up on.  She says he won’t have to suffer her for very long because if he doesn’t bring Pablito to her, she will die.  Of course Pablo goes to get the kids.

Jeez.  Lo again.  Sitting in bed Lo asks for lipstick, she wants to look presentable when Pablito comes in.  Yuuuuuck!  Dorila comes in with Virginia and Leti.  Lo growls at them to get away from her, barely looking at them but fanning them away:  she can’t stand kisses from nasty, snot nosed brats.  Dorila says she will put up with a lot of things but not Lo calling her granddaughter a a mugrosa.  This______is  your granddaughter? Lo asks.  Dorila answers she’s not a _________, she’s my granddaughter and whether you like it or not she’s also your granddaughter. (Caption and sound were blanked out for Lo's slur).

Dorila says she is Centavito’s mother.  Lo wants to know how this is possible.  “You can’t be related to these filthy, low life people, all thanks to this escincla babosa! Virginia steps forward and asks Lo “Why don’t you like me?  What did I do to you?  Is it because of who I am?”  Lo doesn’t answer but descends into her own hellish flashback of her assaulting Virginia for declaring love to Carlos, grabbing her by the hair and dragging her away.

Back to Ines and little Carlos.  The Dr. comes in, looks at the emptying bag of marrow and shakes his head.  The procedure is finished.  Victor is still back at Carlos other (empty) hospital bed, lost in flashbacks of he and Ines planting the Carlos Horacio seedling; him giving her the huge rock and proposing marriage to her; him playing with little Carlos just a few days earlier.  The Dr. tells him the procedure is over.  As tired of long pauses as we are, Victor pleads, “Tell me already, will my son live?”

The Dr. says clinically ever thing when well but they have to wait a few hours to see if it will work.  The mother has lived a hard life of neglect; the transplant has left her in bad shape.  Victor wants to know if anything can be done for Ines.  Dr. says there’s nothing they can do:  He doesn’t think she will come out of it well.  Hey!  Didn't one of the LG patio peeps predict this?

Sure enough, Ines lies in bed, deathly pallid.  She looks up at Victor and wonders why he’s sad.  She asks where’s the child.  He tells her not to stress herself, that they have to wait.  He has faith in God.  He thanks her, truly, for what she did.  She said he doesn’t owe her any thanks.  All she wants is to see Carlos Horacio just one time with him knowing she is his mother.   “We both know I’m not going to survive.”  Close-ups of Ines and Victor’s tear-stained faces.

Esme has come back to hell house looking for Pablito.  Leti and Virginia are at Fer and Blanca’s is Pablo’s evasive answer.  Finally Captain Balls tells her Pablito is with Lo.  I want Pablo and I want him now! Esme answers with her signature steady gata gaze.  Fin!

Thank you, Diva, for inviting me to join this recap team:  my first steady recapping gig!   I did my share of complaining but I am proud to have cut my recapping teeth on this. .  . interesting novela.  Diva, Eli and Sara,  y'all are great and I am in awe of the powers of observation, the humor and the exceptional wit and style in your writing.  WOW!  I am honored to have shared this this time with you all recounting the dopey doings of these dunderheads from the dump and the evil antics of idol idiots.  My complaints are of the story only:  I enjoy this group of lively, witty and hilarious viewers and commenters and you all have truly made this a fun ride!  I hope to see you all for Sombra but for now, lets see this thing off tomorrow night!  Thank you!

Woo hoo! You survived La Gata! Great work! Thanks to YOU for volunteering!

Gracias, Lila! And Congratulations on surviving your first telenovela recapping gig! May it be the first of many!

The tone of this whole episode was so bizarre. I actually didn't mind the sudden shift of focus to Carlos Horacio's health scare, but it was so strange to do that with the whole shebang set to end TOMORROW! And if I despaired of Pablo ever growing up before, I'm despairing even more now.

"She is not only washing away the dirt and tanning spray but the filth and stench of guilt and shame." Such an apt description--and the sudden straightening of the hair cracked me up.

ITA about Lo offering a way out and Pablo not taking it. Ya basta!

I'm beyond sick of him and his "I love you"s. Don't tell me...show me!

"I don’t know where the furniture is." Me neither, and that was very distracting. They had furniture yesterday when Sil and Blanca were talking.

Dorila finally revealing that she's Carlos' mom and Virginia II's grandmother was so lackluster. How long has she known? Why didn't she talk to Carlos first? If she was pushed to the point of saying something so that Lo would back off, then why didn't she really bring the smackdown?

I've been noticing the disappearing couch for a couple weeks. Very distracting.

Thanks, Lila for another sparkling recap. You created some great work for this recapping team.

I wasn't really surprised that Ines gets to be the bone marrow donor. Yeah, they just slip that in that Dorila is Carlos' mother. Could have given us that back story sooner.

So will Lo's fate be our final reward? We shall see.

Maybe they've been secretly selling off the furniture. I noticed too, and wondered where they sit down...

Anyhoo, THANK YOU LILA for recapping this penultimate episode. You have done a great job through this whole thing.

This is an open thank you note to all our fine recappers: Eli, Sara, Diva, Lila; you have taken dreck and spun it into gold. Witty, snarky, hilarious gold. Every morning, I looked forward to checking in on the patio and reading your recaps.

Also, through these portals pass the finest, sassiest viewers and commenters in the world! It has been such fun! Okay, maybe all of you didn't share my obsession with Principe and Mariano (*he's mine, Tofie!) But that's okay. I hope to see you all over there under the Sombra. But for now, big group hug--Luvs u!

J in Oregon

The mystery of the disappearing furniture...just one more that won't be solved before this show ends!

I think I may have said it before but I kinda think that maybe they ran out of money half way through and also that maybe they expected for this to be extended and when it was not they found themselves with story lines that maybe would have made sense if the show had gone on for a few more weeks, as it stands it is way too bizarre that Hatbro came out of the blue to help G and that Monica also returned to try an get her claws in on Pablo. It all feels "half finished" and disjointed.

I guess the furniture didn't net as much money as they needed to keep things going...that may be a good thing!

Lila, thanks.
Could it be in the end, El Sil is losing his wealth due to his generous donation to LO and this is why they are losing their furniture gradually>
I want to see Dorilla come down to her knees and beg her son's forgiveness.
yesterday, I was wondering how this will all wrap up tomorrow. I know, why don't all the evil ones kill each other altogether like a showdown. Lol. Anne

I feel so cheated. The wonderful Erika Buenfil was so underused!

Anne...all-baddies cage match? I want tickets to that!

Eli, Blanca so often looks like she's wondering why she bothered coming back from crazytown. I wonder if that's all Blanca or if some of it is coming from Erika.

Anne- I like your villain deathmatch idea, too!

Eli- I feel cheated by the whole damn show.

I can't remember who mentioned it because it was back during CI, but someone had said that Latoodle has a tendency to over-spend at the beginning and then run out of budget. The only difference here is it's looked low budget since the beginning.

It's so odd - CCEA (or at least the Dvd) has a lot of on location scenes and the acting actually seems better. From CCEA to this feels like a downgrade quality wise.

Well look at Eli's comment up there...

My dumb twin posted that last comment.

Not sure there *is* a smart twin.

Well done, Lila! A fantastic way to end your first full-time recapping gig. Just think that no other tn you recap in the future will ever be this bad. Yay!

These writers have a talent for making every big reveal anticlimactic. That was the lamest reveal that Dorilla is Carlos' mom. Are the writers trying to convince us that seeing Low mistreat her granddaughter is what turned Dor around and changed her from the equally hateful classist and racist she once was? Uhm, ok. Maybe she needs to have a talk with Carlos first because she starts claiming abuela rights.

And why the heck is Carlos sending the girls in first by themselves, when he knows they've said Low mistreatment them. Should he make sure his daughter and niece aren't mistreated? And even if he doesn't think Low would harm Pablito because she loves him so much, isn't it damaging to Leti to be ignored by her abuela because she looks like her mom, While abuela lavishes love and attention on her brother? That alone is enough reason for Pablo to NOT have given in to her emotional blackmail. What about the feelings of his wife and BOTH of his kids? Just shaking my head.

The leukemia story was straight out of a bag of cliches. How did CH become so sick in one day? In any case, the writers did a relatively decent job leaving us in suspense about Ines' ultimate fate, and left a door open for reconciliation and a happily ever after. It's crazy that it's actually possible to envision Ines and Victor making a family and marriage work, when I still can't imagine Pablo and Esme ever making it work.

Obviously I'm still sleepy. Typos. Why is Pablo sending the girls in by themselves. And Dor should speak to Carlos before she claims abuela rights.

As much as I would like to see Garabato happy.... which I guess means the survival of Ines... we are talking about two people that committed crimes. In Garabato's case he's taken a life. That seems to have been completely forgotten. Am I supposed to be OK with it because the person he killed was not a nice guy?

Ines has paid for her crimes by going to prison, but Garabato has been given a fortune, a job and a child while Ines has really suffered. Granted she sold her child and was heartless for most of this.... but I don't know. It just seems all a little unfair to me.

Sara- Yep. It's unfair. But still in the end, one of the better storylines as this thing wraps up, and that just shows the sad state of affairs of this tn. When I can accept and be happy for to criminals having a happily ever after than the protagonists, then something is very wrong. But there you have it.

Pablo and Esme leave me totally cold, devoid of any emotion. While this last episode I actually felt something (barely anything) for Victor, CH, and Ines.

Ditto. I wish they had written their story a little differently because it doesn't seem right to be rooting for Garabato/Victor. I am rooting for him... it just feels weird.

Sara and Diva! Thank you guys! Here's a group hug for the LG recap team:

I did it with the help of you and our friends in the Caray Nation, LG Patio Peeps to be specific!

And what a fizzle it was, the reveal of Dorila's non secret! Sheesh! She must have seen and heard lots of abuse directed at Carlos and that little sweetheart, Virginia II. It was quite the lack luster "defense." What could we expect from this crew. Thanks and see y'all later on down in comments!

Thank you, La Paloma, I'm proud to wear the "Caray Recapper" badge!

These people missed a lot of opportunities for crafting a story that could have touched our hearts.

They blew it, La Paloma. They blew it!

J in Oregon, thank you so much! You, Diva and Sara were always the earliest commenters and it was so gratifying to get up in the morning and see people reacting to your work. This has been fun and kind of an ego boost and I feel like I've made some friends!

Luv you too, Girl! Thanks for the hug and encouragement!

Hi, Anne! Thank you so much! You know what? Why couldn't they have let Dorila tell Carlos she was his mother. How about a smackdown of Lo when she was treating Carlos and Virginia II with her usual contempt? But no. After little Virginia asked Lo why she disliked her, the last "word" was Lo's flashback of her yanking Virginia's hair because she said she loved Carlos. That's the message they want to leave you with, that in her mind Lo's hatred and Virginia's death is justrified. Bastards!

I'm sorry the nano anvil in toilet paper couldn't be developed but the choking big beads may be even better!

Eli and Diva, I can't believe the actors didn't realize what crap this was. Guess they all had to pretend that the Empress had clothes.

Vivi! Thank you, hon! I know you've seen a lot of tns so I am heartened that it will never be this bad again!

These writers have a talent for making every big reveal anticlimactic. Amen! and Amen to her needing to talk to Carlos. Totally mishandled!

Vivi you are right: These idiots not only allow Lo to mistreat and abuse their children, they are full enablers of her abuse and it's absolutely outrageously shameful! What a lack of character, intelligence, self-respect and courage were written into the Esme and Carlos characters! Bah!

And thanks for exposing the gaping holes in the leukemia story: you're nailing all my concerns. And this is the most telling of all:

It's crazy that it's actually possible to envision Ines and Victor making a family and marriage work, when I still can't imagine Pablo and Esme ever making it work.

Thank you, Lila. You certainly have given us a wonderful ride through this mixed-up bag of conflicting story lines and incomplete character development. Thanks to you and Eli, Sara, and 5ft for seeing this through with such style, grace and wit.

Ines may be dying from being a bone marrow doner? I don't understand how that is possible. They numb you up and stick a needle into either your pelvis or your sternum. That's it. If Ines is so frail that she cannot survive that, then that should have been picked up on the pre-op history and physical. Or do they do those in Mexico?

Jeez, gringo, it's beginning to look like all the baddies are either going to go out peacefully or be redeemed. What the hell are we going to do with all these anvils? I'm going to take some of our expenses off my taxes.

Dorila revealing she is Carlo's mother, and thus Virginia 2.0's grandmother had such suspense and depth (yawn).

I'm having trouble remembering that we're supposed to be rooting for Pablo and Esme.

It is informative to me to see how Esme pronounces "Pablo." I have read that Spanish B and V are pronounced the same, and are not as harsh as the Beach Boys singing "Ba Ba Ba, Ba Barbara Ann," but to watch Esme's lips when she said Pablo's name really drove that home.

Thank you again, Lila. You really do have a rich talent for this recapping stuff, and I hope to see much more of your work in the future.

David

Thank you Lila for the recap, it was well-done as usual.

I've beaten up on this TN as most people because this show has deserved it. I always assumed Natalia and Diego were the worst couple in television history until I met Esme and Pablo. However, I'm going to believe that Pablo will not go out like a chump. I'm predicting that he sent his daughter and Virginia went in first for a reason. Also, it ended with Esme demanding to her kids and Pablo not saying anything. I think Pablo is setting something up to destroy his mother. I think that maybe his eyes have finally been opened and he realizes that this is the only way for his family to survive. I believe he's going to tell her that because of her behavior, past and present, she will never see her beloved Pablito again. I agree with Vivi, it's always damaging to a child to see her sibling get so much love and yet they receive on hate and scorn. Maybe Pablo has realized this and he's had it. I think that he sent Leti and Virginia in first to let her know that she has more than 1 grandchild and she has blown it with them and him. He's going to finally give it to her and leave her forever.

Or maybe the writers are going to have Lo realize how wrong she was as she's looking into Virginia's eyes and she's going to apologize and they're going to be one big happy family.

Or, since we're talking science fiction here, maybe Lo is going to reveal she is an alien and her hatred stems from the fact that on her planet there is no love, only misguided hatred and they have children that are born incredibly stupid.

Just throwing out some scenarios, because with these writers anything is possible.

Awwww, thank you, David! I am so glad you stayed with us through this whack job! I love your comments and you are one of those viewers they need to tap to make a show worthy of our time and attention!

Truth: I'm having trouble remembering that we're supposed to be rooting for Pablo and Esme.

You know. I realize these things are vehicles for selling stuff, but when a show is this bad it makes me resolve not to ever purchase ANY of the crap they're peddling. Oh well, I guess this is the kind of show toe fungus powder and scar removal cream buys.

David, how about we tie Lo, HatBro and G-spot all in a big knot and you deploy the anivil inventory all in one big she-BANG!

Lila, I am so glad you jumped in to recap and what was so cool, though all you guys have different styles, you speak one mind. Like, like you can finish each others sentences, happens rarely, but when it does magic.

Last night was one of the most enjoyable of the whole damn thing and while Ines deserves something, when she started to go to her knees and Victor stopped her, wow. Clear case of the first string packing it in knowing they lost, the bench gets to play, and play to win.

Agree Byran, Diego and Natalia were a horrible couple but you are right, this Pablo and Esmeralda crap, oh god.

Again, gimme one good reason Pablo should not get an anvil. He is a horrible human being. Lo started another string of curses about Esmeralda and one tiny comment about him being a puppet, he did not defend his wife but immediately was angered she belittled him. Oh, that self centered punk. See, Lo is Lo and everybody knows she is toothless if you just get away from her but Pablo won't have that and drags his wife and children back to her cage.

Both Lorenza & Gisela need to get big ANVILS!

Thank you Bryan!!

BAM! Your last scenario makes more sense and is more likely than any of the others you mentioned:

. . .maybe Lo is going to reveal she is an alien and her hatred stems from the fact that on her planet there is no love, only misguided hatred and they have children that are born incredibly stupid.

Pablum and Esmiserable are THE WORST couple in ANY language I have ever seen! Their story has been stupid, boring and maddening all at once! Basta!

Esmiserable

HAHAHAHA!

Tofie, thank you, Girl! I love your comments and your lists, your whip that bites and make you piss your pants laughing at the same time AND makes you think! I don't know if it was you, but a few days ago somebody said that Pablo and Esme are the villians in this thing. You know what? They aren't the only ones but they HAVE certainly turned into villians with their dangerous mix of stupidity, forgetfulness and cowardice.

Yes. Pablo deserves an anvil:

Lo is Lo and everybody knows she is toothless if you just get away from her but Pablo won't have that and drags his wife and children back to her cage.

This is one of the comments I refer to above! It is funny, it is visual, visceral and you nailed the gotdamned dynamics of this highly annoying couple to the wall, girl!

Uuuuuf! I hate them! Save me from EVER having this kind of electronic excrement into my home and mind EVER AGAIN!

Thanks all of y'all! I didn't want to rant in the recap so I appreciate ALL these astute and funny reviews of La CaCa!

Thank you and congrats on leaving this all behind!!

I have a feeling the finale tonight is going to be a mess, which is a fitting end to this disaster. There are too many plot points to conclude in an hour:

1. We have had 2,3 scenes of Monica talking to a guy about scheming Esme away but no actual action

2. Lo anvil and Gi anvils

3. Hatbro with the money

4. Ines dying

5. Damien and Vicky, are they going to be a couple or not

6. Dorilla telling Centa she's his mother

7. Mariano's person on the other end of the phone,

8. Last and least, Esme and Pablo's ends

Thank you, Carvivlie! Yes! I made it! Whoo Hoo!

Let's see: how about Lo, Gi, Hatbro, Monica (and her mother), and Rogelio (the guy that's supposed to tempt Esme) are meeting together in Gi's apartment. There's a gas leak and one of them goes to light. . .uh, let's see. . .doesn't matter. . .somebody lights something and KAPLOOOEY! the whole damned place explodes! Problem solved.

Ines lives, marries Victor and lives with Carlos Horacio, Carlos, Virginia II, Willy and Tony all in Victor's little apartment and later they move into better digs when the ugly building is done.

5, 6 and 7 are left dangling and

Pablo and Esme move with the kids into the MN mansion (now that Lo is a bloody skid mark) after Rita does a cleansing with sage and other herbs. AND WE NEVER SEE OR HEAR FROM THEM AGAIN!!

Oh, Carvivlie, you forgot whether Jarocha and her husband will have a baby! There have been plenty of stories of women in their mid-50s and older giving birth. It' ain't my cup o' tea, but hey!

This proves there is not a happily ever after with weddings at the end. Pablo & Esmeralda this far in having the same argument. He's selfish & she's needy, he runs & she chases, he stops and she takes off. Lo's demise changes nothing.

Don't care what Pablo says or does or discovers tonight in the morning he will kick the cat again.

Recaps better than the show itself? Well yes, you guys have proved it over and over. Proof you say? Well Lila did it today.

Lila you said that no happiness can be found in that house. It's cursed! A home run I'd say.

Today has been truly a great exit for you.

Looks like tonight will be a big showdown over little Pablito. Lo will have met her match facing off against La Gata. We all know that La Gata will win in the end but I think that Anne has the best solution for the grand fin---
put all of the bad guys in a cage and leave them go at each other.

La Gata peeps---Is there a psychiatrist anywhere that can help Pablo? I believe that he may have permanent brain damage.

Lila---My guess is that a paycheck for a bad novela is better than no paycheck at all. If
we were out of work actors, what would we do?

Dorila was employed by Lo. Maybe that is why she kept quiet all this time, you know, the all powerful paycheck plus room and board.

David---It looks like we will have to take a loss from our anvil production business. How much of a write off will the IRS accept? I'll have our Account look into our losses.
the gringo

Lila, I did forget about Jarocha! I wish they would adopt. At her age and from her former career, I wouldn't be surprised if STD's have rendered her infertile.

Vivi, thank you for this "When I can accept and be happy for to criminals having a happily ever after than the protagonists, then something is very wrong." I'd be happy to see Victor, Ines, and Carlos Horacio reunited and happy. I think Esme needs a divorce and to get the kids into therapy with someone who's actually qualified and not treating the woman who tried to kill her repeatedly. Maybe she could track down Gi's original doctor who got out while the getting was good.

David, they're following the guidelines laid out in the Journal of Telenovela Medicine. Taking a pre-op history and doing a physical lead to more predictability of outcomes, thus less drama. They must be avoided at all costs, for maximum suspense.

Bryan, I like your alien scenario. Maybe Augie's not really dead, just beamed back to the home planet and projecting himself holographically into Lo's bedroom.

tofie, thanks for bringing up that little moment in the hospital room with Ines getting ready to beg and Victor stopping her. It was such a nice touch.

Carvivlie, that's a lot to cover in an hour. Here's my prediction, based on what would be the most frustrating and thus worthy of the rest of the show...

They'll kill off Ines and have no tearful goodbyes. Gi and Hatbro will die trying to get away with their millions. Lo will just die in her sleep. All of that will happen in the first five minutes so we can spend the bulk of the episode with Pablo and Esme doing their little dance. They'll leave it ambiguous and then project us 20 years into the future for the wedding of one of the kids. While all the guests are standing around chatting, they'll talk about what we missed in the last 20 years (because why bother SHOWING us when they can just talk about it instead). Esme and Pablo will be revealed to have gotten back together for no reason any of us can fathom. After the wedding Pablo will say something generic to Esme about their "love" and FIN will flash on the screen. We'll all sit there wondering QTH just happened.

gringo, I think the actors accept in good faith. I mean, it's La Gata! It's a classic story! Who could pass up such an opportunity! And then things get going and they realize they've been duped. They do the best they can with what they're given and hope the fans will understand. That's my guess.

Brother gringo! Thank you, sir! I have certainly enjoyed your undying devotion to your raven-haired goddess but respect your ability to call a spade a spade when this thing got too bad even for you to defend. You are a loyal telenovio, that's for sure and an A #1 cheerleader for all of us on the recap team: For that, and for just your being you (as Mr. Rogers used to say) I THANK YOU!

********
Give 'em hell, tofie!

Oh EM GEEE!!! Carvivlie, you are right!! Hadn't thought of her former profession. You know, having lived in the basurero you would think they would write that in automatically that they adopt some little tykes, a whole passel of them! Eh. makes too much sense!

I think Gi will kill Hatbro for the money. I'm hoping Mariano kills Gi.

I hope Lorenza gets hit by a car. Multiple times.

If Esmeralda in any way the cause of Lo's demise Pablo would never forgive her.

Perhaps, little Virginia is walking in front of grandma's (both) and Lo tries to trip her for kicks, Virginia stumbles into Lo who recoils in disgust backing into the street and run over by a garbage truck. Oh, while Pablo watches.

Since Lo only wants to see Pablito, I'm wondering if she will try to kidnap him tonite? Though it seems a bit late in the show but I guess it could be a quickly foiled plot.

I can't begin to guess what will happen tonight. But, I will make it a point to meet all of you on the patio tomorrow a.m. to cuss and discuss it. And sadly, bid some peeps farewell. I hope we don't loose a single one of the group!

Emeraldrose- May I use "cuss and discuss" All trademarks/copyrights will be given to you.

What I can't wrap my head around is that it's all supposed to happen in just one hour.

Didn't the advances show Lo with a gun?

Lo, G-spot and HatBro have to go down tonight. Monica and her mom?
Who else is left?
the gringo

"Cuss and discuss" is a good one! Thanks, emeraldrose.

Sara, I hope you have your foam collar ready for the whiplash.

tofie and Carvivlie...but what would The Beads do to the tires?

gringo, I wonder if that was a replay of a few weeks ago (?) when Lo pulled the gun on Fernando in his office. He kept the gun, if I remember correctly.

Unless someone gave it back to her. How bad is it that it's plausible that one of these too-stupid-to-live characters would have returned it? Or that she could potentially get it back without any explanation whatsoever?

The glitter glue is drying and I'm adding a few more rhinestones, but the faim collar should be ready to go by airtime.

Sigh. FOAM collar.

Thank you so much Lila. This was great.

Yay! You survived La Gata. :)

Dorila's revelation was soooo random. With only two more eps to go the writers probably thought they'd better make her spill the beans whichever way possible and they chose to make it happen like this. Oh well...at least we got to see Lorenza's reacion at the news.

I was shocked. Ines bathed and combed her hair. She is very pretty under the dirt and looks better this way. Too bad it looks like she will croak now. I find it hard to believe that a bone marrow transplant could kill you. Whatever Latoodle.

I thought that the furniture had been moved so the kids could run around and play.

We need an anvil for Rey too.

La Gata had a two hour gran finale in Mex.

Here we will get only one hour (thanks to Uni) who will combine two hours into one.

Wouldn't it be great if Lo died by bead strangulation? They finally fight back!

Thank you, Mauricio! It did occur to me that might have been the case with the furniture especially with Virginia II running about playing. Which, by the way was GREAT to see after all the abuse the little darlings get!

I realized something you all might have, too. Pablito, formerly "hat baby" wore a hat because the little baby actor had black hair, not blonde. That's my take.

I miss those little cuties! They were sooo precious and they're too young and innocent to have their little bios ruined by having played in La Gata! Hope to see them again someday!

*nothing wrong with black or blonde hair, what I mean is big Pablito is blonde so that's where the decision came from.

One thing--last few nights they have been doing flashbacks of flashbacks of stuff that happened two minutes before. And there was at least 10 minutes of refritos at the beginning of Thursday night. Are they really that desperate for stuff to fill the time?

Anyhoo, if Ines dies, they will have a nice neat cosmic package: Saintly Big Virginia dies to give life to her baby, Rotten Ines dies to give life to her (somewhat grown up) baby. See?

And they should have called this show something else. The title character dies after a lifetime of abuse (Principe) and his passing is not even acknowledged. Like I said, no justice.

Rant over. For now

J in Oregon

Hey J, I thought somebody said they saw Principe recently? Must have been a flashback!
