Caray, Caray!

Refrito: Ren and Pat are seated at the blind restaurant. Max calls the Hacienda and Diana tells him where to find Abi.

New: Pat is loving the restaurant, and I have to agree. I think it's very progressive of this novela to show this experience. But there's no call for Pat to start emoting Mat-style, which he does. He spills some wine (that must happen a lot), and then Renata wants Pat to "see" her by touching her face. Before long they are "seeing" each other's faces with their "lips," in an all-out necking session. At least nobody can see them.

Max calls Abi at her hotel and crassly uses his parents' death to generate sympathy, to get her to agree to have dinner with him. After hanging up, he calls her, "Estupida," a la Macaria.

At the secret casino that so many know about, Lucio joins Fausto and Marcelino, and proceeds to get the best of Marcelino. In an indecent proposal, Lucio suggests Marc bet his wife, since he has run out of cash. Elsewhere, Julian and 'Black Hand' (Mano Negra) are satisfied with their first night. Julian reveals that he's not into playing dad for Tono, and that Fausto should be given everything free to keep a good relationship with las autoridades.



Before Abi can meet Max for dinner at the hotel, Mat shows up. Then Max appears, and three is definitely not company. They exchange machismos about Abi, but then Max changes gears by thanking Mat for saving his life. They all sit down to eat, and Mateo inadvertently drops the leukemia bomb on Max. Abi leaves so they can have a Dr./patient heart to heart, but not before Max apologizes for accosting her the other day. She lets Mat know, "That's why Fausto was hugging me, you total jerk, like a father protecting a daughter."

Back in Real de San Andres, at the Hacienda Flores del Angel, only ex-Crazy Con and Diana are home to cenar. They exchange barbs with each other, and Connie wins.

An awkward scene at the Mexico City manse where Porfirio asks Ximena to stay with him and not go to her separate bedroom, and she turns him down cold, saying nothing works below the waist anyway, so why bother?

Ren and Pat make it back to the hotel after the blind restaurant, and it's Ren who says the night is young, let's open a bottle of wine. Right before they kiss (again), Abi comes in. Pat leaves, and Abi expresses approval of the situation. I thought she was happy about the reunion with Fausto?

The next day, Abi and Ren are finally doing what they came for, shopping for wedding dresses. Abi cries, and the attendant says it's normal. It actually is for Abi, when she thinks about marrying Diego.

Elsewhere (back in the pueblo?) Diego is also trying on wedding finery, and at last we have somebody who looks radiant! He looks very nice in a white suit, and there is cutesy Domingo mini-me-ing him.

At the congreso medico, Mat and Pat engage in boy talk, until Mat goes too far by asking if Pat would be Renata's lover, her boy-toy, her backdoor man. Pat is offended and discomfited and won't answer. They focus on the medical talks instead.

It's the next day, and Max comes home to Porfirio and Ximena seated like American Idol judges at a table. Porfiro lays into Max about being responsible, but Max turns the tables by shouting he knows about the leukemia! Xi quickly heads for the hills (after throwing Porfis under the bus by saying she thought Max should have been told), Porfis defends himself decently, and also apologizes. But he is completely adamant that Max stay away from Lucio. All support, including medical, will be withdrawn. It is literally life or death for Max, who wants to be with his dad, but wants to live, too.

Ren is going out with Pat again, promising she won't let it go too far, and Abi looks pretty bad in a long blue dress with her signature boots and socks. Mat sits alone in his habitacion, emoting and flashing back to other emoting, a double torture for us. He remembers a key scene from long ago when Abi offered to be his lover.

Ximena brings Porfiro a note that looks to be written by a 1st grader (no offense to 1st graders), in large, childish block letters, which is from Max. He has left to be with Lucio.

No sooner written than done, Max shows up at Lucio's, who wonders why he's there. Max realizes that Lucio only let him go so Max could get good health care, and that's why Lucio was crying at the time. Max informs Lucio that he has renounced everything.

Fausto comes home from the secret casino and Diana confronts him. She wanted to take advantage of Ren and Mat's absence, but Fausto really just wants her gone. He's willing to give her a house, money, the works, but he is really done with her. Diana is hurt and angry at Abi. She ridicules Fausto for wanting Abi and says Abi will be his undoing (one of the smarter things she's said). She follows Fausto to his study and informs him that Mateo and Abi are at the same hotel, most likely holding, kissing and caressing each other.

Cut to Mateo and Abi holding, kissing and caressing each other. Of course Mateo had to drone on for a while in that special style of his before they started, but the fact is they love each other, and he wants to take her up on that offer she made a while ago. She says yes. Uh oh!!

Avances: I thought there would only be room servus interruptus, but it looks like Abi and Mat did the deed! She is crying with Diego, saying he must hate her now. I can't believe it!
