Lo Imperdonable #26 Mon 6/22/15 Schmalz, Blood and Cyanide.

Marty splits open like a piñata and it's all Vero's fault.

Over Veronica's protests, Crazy Marty insists on going to the church to talk to the miners.  Somehow Lorenzo gets him there (a gentle horse is involved but the details are left to our imagination).  Marty limps inside, clutching at the wound in his belly.  He tells the sick men that a doctor is on the way, and he promises to keep paying them their wages while they are recovering.

Again ignoring Vero's warnings, Marty pushes on to the mine, where he meets up with Crescencio and Joaquín.   He has figured out the best way to repair the cyanide leak and will supervise the work.

But Vero has followed him and now begs him to come back home with her.  Crescencio shouts that a woman in the mines brings bad luck.  Marty orders her to leave.  Vero has had enough – she is taking her husband home!  But when she reaches for him, he pushes her away and somehow loses his footing and falls to the ground.  His wound opens and he starts bleeding out.

Crescencio is there to say "I told you so."  Marty is again transported on a camera-shy horse, this time back to his loveless shack.

Sorry, Maggie.  It's only episode 26.

The image created by the sketch artist is unmistakably Verónica's face.  It can't be, says Magdalena.  Unfortunately, Botel agrees.  It CAN'T be.  He is sure that Maggie influenced the sketch by unconsciously describing Vero's features.  He reminds her that she became attached to a girl once before, and only a DNA test was able to dissuade her from believing she was her daughter.    At his insistence, the sketch is repeated in a more objective way; the results are more realistic, that is, anonymous and largely useless.

Alfredo updates Botel on conditions in Mina Escondida, including the cyanide leak.  Botel will send along treatment instructions through Pierre's hotel.

The bloom is off the rose

Creepy Claudia and Dr. F. have at last reached the French Hotel in Pueblo Nuevo.  They can't believe that they have another boat ride to endure before they get to Mina Escondida.  From the looks of things, Claudia is no longer enthralled by Dr. F's torso.  She hasn't stopped kvetching for the last seven hours -- the mosquitos, the snake in the boat. (No, no, Ginny isn't with them.)  Dr. F would like to stay in the hotel overnight.  Claudia, however, is desperate to push on so she can see Martín with her own eyes.  Dr. F reluctantly agrees.  He will be ready to go as soon as he has splashed some cool water on his face.

When Dr. F returns from the bathroom, Claudia has disappeared.  Teo says Uspín is ready to leave for Mina Escondida.  Dr. F decides to catch a ride with Uspín and leave Claudia to fend for herself.

I don't like the looks of this!

Dr. Del Rios ponders the bizarre clinical picture: Ginny's pulse is racing, her blood pressure is high, her pupils are dilated.  [My goodness.  You'd think she had been drugged or something.]   Salma holds her hand.  Del Rios will give her a sublingual tablet.

What did the bad white woman DO to the boss?

Nanciyaga, like Crescencio, is full of I told you so's.  She warned Vero she would bring Marty bad luck!  Now he's going to die because the wound can't be reclosed!

Vero has had enough of Nanciyaga's lip.  SLAP!  Does that shut her up?  Nuh uh.  Nanciyaga says hitting her won't change the fact that Marty is going to die because of the BAD WOMAN.

Vero feels kind of bad for losing her temper and apologizes.  Nanciyaga says she'll give it another shot with some curative kid fat.  Vero swallows her skepticism and agrees to go along with the latest treatment plan.  Goat lard?  Uh, okay.

Vero weeps over a now unconscious Marty and takes on all the blame.  When Vero is dispatched to look for more leaves, Nanciyaga smears grease all over Crazy Marty's belly wound, all the while muttering about the insidious influence of the mala mujer blanca.

When Nanciyaga complains to Padre Juan that the mujer blanca HIT her, he tells her she probably had it coming for being so mouthy.  (She kind of did, but isn't he in the turn-the-other-cheek business?)

Then Juan checks out Marty, finds his pulse is weak and his blood pressure low.  He's lost a lot of blood.

He tells Vero that none of this is her fault.  Marty should never have left the loveless shack – and he knew that very well.

Jeez, she really IS sick.

I guess Dr. Del Rios was able to manage Ginny's self-inflicted crisis  (atypical is what the doctor called it) because she is now resting comfortably at home.  She begs Salma and Jorge not to tell Emi about the incident because he thinks she uses her condition to manipulate people.  Jorge admits somewhat ruefully that he always kind of thought Ginny was exaggerating her symptoms for the sympathy vote.  Now, of course, he knows better.

Privately, Ginny kicks herself for going too far with the belladonna drops that Dr. F gave her.  She is at risk of losing all the ground she has gained with Emi.

F really is a doctor.  Who knew?

Dr. F has arrived, the complete cranky professional.  He orders Nanciyaga and her goat fat away from the bedside, rolls up his sleeves and gets to work.  He manages to stop the bleeding.  He cleans the wound and resutures it.  He announces that Marty's blood volume is so low that he is on the verge of shock.  He must have a transfusion.

As luck would have it, Veronica has the same blood type as Martín.  She will be his donor.  And all the equipment Dr. F will need is in Botel's office.  The padre will bring it to him.

Vero tells F about the sick miners who will also require his help.  F mutters about the high price he's paying and Vero looks at him strangely, but doesn't challenge him.  She tells him what has been done so far.  He says that if no one has died thus far, then no one is likely to.  He agrees to see them after he is done with Marty.  "Will Martín be okay after the transfusion?" Vero asks.  Dr. F's response is an ominous silence.

Ooh lah lah!

Pierre returns to the hotel and Teo reports Dr. F's arrival.  He also passes along the instructions Dr. Botel has left for treating the men who were exposed to cyanide.

Both men are startled to find Claudia asleep on a chair in the lobby.  (So that's where she went!)  Pierre is quite taken with Claudia.  She ignores his interest.  She is DESPERATE to get to Marty.

Busted

Pablo walks in just then.  "You're Ginny's friend's boyfriend, right?" says Claudia loudly.  Pablo says nothing, but he looks a little sick.  It's obvious that Teo has heard her too.

Claudia has heard there is a fishing boat going to Mina Escondida and she wants to be on it.  She ignores the warnings that it could be dangerous.

Since she's determined to go, Pierre gives her Botel's treatment instructions to deliver to the padre.  Then he and Teo watch her wobble and wiggle her way down the cobblestone street in her stoopid tacones altos.  Teo confides to Pierre that Claudia knows Pablo... and Pablo's GIRLFRIEND.

Did Martín die? he asked hopefully.

Back in Mexico City, the word has spread about the miners' plight.  Jorge – who has just talked to Alfredo – fills in Emiliano.  Emi wants to go to Mina Escondida to support Vero, but Jorge talks him out of it, convincing him that he needs to represent the firm in Switzerland.

Later, Jorge tells Salma and Ginny about the cyanide leak.  He also assures Ginny that he said nothing to Emi about her problem at the doctor's office.

I gotta pee

Sadly, Claudia has made it to Mina Escondida in one piece.  And now she needs to pee, so she stops in El Purgatorio. (I don't even want to imagine what the bathroom looks like.)  And guess who's sitting there all alone throwing back shots?  That's right – Manny!  (He's been blissfully scarce all day.  No one in the church knew where he was.)

Manny gets pretty excited by what he sees and wants to chase right after Claudia.  The bartender Medel manages to hold him back, but not before Manny threatens him and Ireri, the barmaid, hears the threats.  She is upset that Medel has put himself in harm's way.

Medel never talks about his personal life. Ireri wonders if there is someone special he cares about.  He admits he has a secret love.  (And The Patio is pretty sure it's Ireri herself.   We can just tuck that away for a rainy day subplot.)

This stuff should be in a museum

Padre Juan delivers Botel's World War I vintage equipment to Dr. F.  Dr. F instructs Vero to lie down beside Marty.

After giving the padre some drops for the miners and telling him how to administer them, he turns his attention to the transfusion.

Marty is delirious – just the way we like him.

Vero snuggles up beside her husband.  Nanciyaga looks on balefully.  She asks Padre Juan what is happening and he explains about the transfusion.  This is the worst possible news for Nanciyaga.  "If the white woman's blood is in his body, then nothing can separate them," she says.

We see the lifeblood passing from wife to husband as the transfusion is carried out.

También las dolencias del alma le pasan factura al cuerpo.
(Maladies of the soul also take their toll on the body.)

It turns out that Dr. Del Rios, cardiologist extraordinaire, is not only the doctor who treated Magdalena years ago, he is also a psychologist.  Now Botel has brought Magdalena to him for psychotherapy.  She hesitates, but then decides to trust him.  After all, he did save her life.

You're Fired!

They are all exhausted – Crescencio, Joaquín, Lorenzo and the other miners – but at least they know what they have to do to repair the cyanide leak.

Manny chooses this precise moment to make his stumbling drunken entrance into the mine, pushing the men, screaming at them for assembling without his permission.  Crescencio explodes in fury.  How dare Manuel behave so disrespectfully!  These men haven't even slept!

"From now on, Joaquín is in charge of the mine!  And because you have learned NOTHING, you go back to the bottom!"

"You can't do that to me!" screams Manny.  "I'll show you that I can take charge!"  He rushes into a tunnel, unencumbered by helmet, mask or gloves.  He ignores the shouts of the others calling him back.

Joaquín follows him inside and, as Manny hacks blindly with his pickaxe, tries to pull him away.  He will do more harm than good, warns Joaquín, and it is dangerous to inhale the gases.

Going back to the root of the problem

Dr. Del Rios and Magdalena have their first session in her hotel room.  (That sounds suggestive, but it was quite innocent, if a tad unprofessional.  I wonder if the Botels are staying in El Conquistador.  Hmm.)  Del Rios asks Magdalena to recall a moment with her daughter – the last birthday she spent with her, perhaps – so she can reconnect with that sensation of happiness.

Magdalena remembers Veronica's fourth birthday, the doll she gave her, the birthday cake with four candles, and the little girl telling her she was the best mommy in the world.  "I hope to hear her say that again some day."  (Check with us in 50 episodes, honey.)

SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!

Manny the imbecile breaks the pipe.  The poisonous steam comes hissing and spraying out over him and Joaquín and the other men.  Manny runs away, leaving the others to deal with the new catastrophe.

The serial rubber strikes again

Vero has dozed off next to Martín.  The transfusion must have been completed some time ago.  She looks quite convincingly pale.  She hears an unpleasant voice: "So you finally woke up?"

"Nanciyaga?"

"No."

Now Vero sits up a bit and sees Claudia sitting on her bed RUBBING her husband's legs through the thin blanket.

"What are YOU doing here?"

Avances:  Claudia is determined to get Vero out of the way.  This means war!

Thank you NovelaMaven! Loved all you titles and the wonderful snark.

The reason why Marty lost his footing and fell was because HE pushed Vero. It was ALL his fault. Well, he served his purpose. He created the plan to contain the leak (which Manny just ruined) and now he's back in bed unconscious, just like we prefer him.

Dr. F was so funny. He came to make a quick buck treating one guy, and now has a town health disaster on his hands. Maybe it will make him a better person and doctor.

Can't believe Claudia managed to stay in that tight suit and heels the whole trip. I can't believe she'd want to stay in that outfit. Surely there a cooler, more comfortable ways to maintain her sexy look. Let's hope she's on the receiving end of Vero's next slap. She should sic Nancy on her, if she wants a white woman to goad so badly.

NovelaMaven, don't even know where to start, this is so good and many thank you's. Ooh lah lah!

So glad to see Martin down again but hate that it keeps Veronica doting on him. I pray for the day he crosses the line and she flees back home. At least Claudia may pry them apart. Yippee

It's a waste of Virginia, her in bed all day, come on girl do something real bad.

Ooo, that shifty eyed Botel, what a snake and that weird Del Rios. Run Maggie.

The whole fax and phone crap is stupid.

Dr. Dan mentioned a helicopter to get Martin out but was too quickly dismissed.

The laugh out loud moment for me was Manny blaming all the bad stuff happening on the invasion of foreigners. Ha! He's a one man wrecking crew and destroyer of lives. He doesn't need any help with that. Why has no one outright accused him of not changing the filter?

Marty promised all those miners sick pay, but not all the miners are his. I don't see Cresencio making that commitment.

It was a wonderful gesture by Martin but he's supposed to be flat broke and he's got a partner I guess he's forgotten.

I kept thinking Manuel was gonna use that hammer on Joaquin. Funny when an old man, Medel, manhandled that punk.

NovelaMaven. Short and Sweet. And flippin funny. Thanks. Great writing. Where is that Genomma Lab kiosk? Some Cicatricure salve would put CrazyMarty back in that mine in a day.

To state the obvious: ManualLabor is C R A Z Y. I mean dangerous crazy in homicidal maniac crazy. As in should become dead crazy.

WOW these city girls just don't get along do they? Conniving backstabbing greedy, jealous, man-stealing.....YIKES. Yeah let me rush over and marry one of these.

I want to see Veronica sit down and recount "How do I love thee, let me count the ways." She would come up with a big fat goose egg. Oh he treats you like he detests you but the bedroom action is great? Yeah if you like goat fat and transfusions. Let the prick die and go marry a whole human.

Good morning, amigos!

Thanks for chiming in this morning. I appreciate the kind words. It sounds as if you enjoyed this episode as much as I did.

Vivi, I appreciate the clarification about Marty's fall. I just edited the recap to include Marty's push. Thanks!

Dr. F IS funny. He's scowling and grumpy, but at least he's doing his job. Maybe this experience will be TRANSFORMATIVE for him. Or not.

tofie, I giggled through your entire comment. I love your natural affinity for the bad guys and your skepticism about the creepy saintly ones like Dr. Del Rios. "So glad to see Martin down again." hahahahahaha!

Kirby, thanks for the nice words. Hey, Vero is a city girl and we like her, right? And we still like Magdalena, don't we?

(I'm going to have to replenish my stock of nerfazos because if Marty lets Claudia push Vero aside, I'll need plenty to throw at the tv tonight.)

Martin will use Claudia's attentions to bring Veronica to heel, while she told Pierre to bug off because it made Martin so jealous. Even on their wedding day Martin chewed Veronica a new one over her comment to Claudia when Claudia was all over the guy.

Veronica needs weapons or someone with her interest a priority (and not that namby pamby Priest either). I want to kick Jorge every time he insist Emiliano go to Switzerland. At least Emiliano has sworn to defend Veronica and I believe him.

We'll see how fast a message can really travel in that forsaken place. Teo knows Pablo got a gf.

"Veronica needs weapons or someone with her interest a priority"

Agreed, tofie. My sense is that it's too early for that and that Vero hasn't bottomed out yet. She still smiles occasionally and still has some hope that the paranoid at her side will OPEN HIS HEART (and not just his gut) to her.

@NovelaMaven - loved your recap. You are so creative, funny, and concise. I wish I had your gift.

@tofie - Martin's chew out of Veronica over her comment to Claudia happened at their engagement party, not the wedding day.

Thanks Latina, I don't have your or Vivi's recall, just remember Claudia pawing Martin in a small group.

Thank you, my dear Latina, but clearly you have a great gift of your own!

Amazing recap @NovelaMaven. Loved the snark. I don't know whether or not anyone else had this problem, but I just could not stop looking at Lorenstache's mustache. It was very distracting for me. Also I find it strange that Vero and Marty brought up their blood types the 2 days they knew each other. Anyways excited for tonight's episode.

Gracias, Laura!

I hadn't been paying that much attention to Lorenzo's stache, but now that you mention it... [snort]

About the blood type thing – Vero said she knew this because they just had premarital blood tests (though I'm not sure if this is really a requirement in the real world in Mexico, or if it is, whether the blood tests include typing). Anyhow, that's what she said. :D

@Laura, a small clarification, Vero and crazyMart had a blood test which is required before you get married. My country, also, requires a blood test before you marry. It tests to see if both partners do not carry traits of genetic diseases, like Sickle cell anemia for one. Anyhoo, Vero is delusional if she thinks this man loves her. Even unconscious he was moaning, no, no, about getting a life saving transfusion from her, lol. Talk about deep seated "odio" it made me laugh. Of course, she pipes up "he's delirious" We need crazy young Emi to run and save Vero from this hell because she can't save herself. Let's see what damages Claudia can do and crazyMart will chew Vero out if she even think of confronting Claudia. When will enough be enough for Vero? I am not holding my breath. Thank you for the recap.
Romy

NovelaMaven...I managed to bread your snappy recap in between getting some chores accomplished. I always love your sense of humor..delicious snark.

So now anemic Very has to deal with Nansiyaga, Medicine Woman AND serial rubber Clawdiahhh. And Pierre Pepe LA Pew has a new crush.

Regarding the goat fat regimen, my college roommate swore by goose fat when she had a cold. Yes, she was a pill whom I shared a room with fireplace three years. She offered me the goose fat a couple times, but I declined.

Bread????..make that read...

What the.....fireplace was supposed to be "for"

I swear, susanlynn, you have the best autocorrect ever! Goose fat, goat fat – all magical stuff, right? Glad you enjoyed the recap, chica.

Hey Romy, you're so welcome.

Thanks NovelaMaven for a fantastic recap.

Dr. F and Claudia FINALLY arrive in town.

I know Botel meant well, but who else wanted to throttle him for convincing Magdalena that she was mistaken in believing Veronica was her daughter?

They should have just let Manuel get contaminated with the cyanide. The best thing Abuelo Crescencio has done so far is tell Manuel that he'll be working at the bottom now and following orders from Joaquin.

What's the deal with Pierre? Now he's drooling over Claudia.

Botel and Magdalena are staying at El Conquistador. It must be the ONLY hotel in Mexico City.

Thank you Novela Maven---You made your recap soooooo enjoyable right from the very start. Marty splits open like a piñata. I know that a knife wound is not funny but I had to chuckle over that line. Am I a bad person? I hope not.

The snake in the boat. (No, no, Ginny isn't with them.)
Marty is delirious--just the way we like him.
Check with us in 50 episodes.
The loveless shack. Great name, I guess it is.
Novela Maven---You were fantastic today. So professional and yet so funny.

Goat lard---Que? Take that to medical school Carlos. You see all that they didn't teach you. Well It's wasn't their fault, they didn't have Dr. Nanci.

Dr. F didn't seem very happy about helping the sick miners. Come on doctor, step up
and help.

No one knew where Manuel was. --- At the cantina maybe? Just a guess.

Manny sure screwed things up at the mine didn't he? No hard hat and nothing falls on him? Well maybe we will be lucky sometime in a future episode.

Tofie---You're so funny. Get Virginia out of bed so that she can start acting bad.

Kirby---Your description of the city girls---Yikes!

Novela Maven---The goddess still smiles. Please yes!

With Claudia now in Mina Escondida, there's bound to be trouble. More than there is already.

THANKS for the advances NM, at least they're not censored here.

Must see tv
the gringo

NovelaMaven- A wonderful recap, and perfectly funny.

What I find annoying is creepy granpa cres blaming bad stuff in the mines on women, really? That is so stupido.
Nancy, with the kid fat, and vero's funny word for it "goat lard" hahahaha LOL!!! That was so
Funny to me.
That slap that nancy got from vero, I can understand that. Her husband is bleeding out
and shes blaming her for it, fear and anger came out in a slap. Totally deserved. Just like padre thought, she mouthed off.
That turning the other cheek thing don't come over night. there are some things I could say about that but I won't lecture I'm just going to enjoy the show:-)

I hate that botel talked magda out of believeing that sketch was veronica her daughter.
It'll come up again. And how could she influence the artist on what to draw unconsciously? Maybe, I just want vero to have somebody to support her. Shes gonna need it. I wonder if marty will change his tune
When he finds out the love of his life (he hasn't realized that yet) literally gave her life to save his miserable hide.
Jorge, now he knows V snake was really sick? Hes still as dumb as the rest of the family. this was a really good episode but I didn't see all of the end of it because we have been getting really bad storms here in North Florida. The cable signal being Interrupted becaudr of lightening strikes. But what I read was really good I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of it tonight.

Because of lightening strikes→→→↑

NovelaMaven...The goose fat was not an autocorrect. My roommate swore by goose fat. I never heard her mention goat fat, but knowing her, she probably would have used that if she had it.

Oh, I know, susanlynn. I was just kind of riffing on goose fat and goat fat while savoring the thought of a breaded recap. :D

Mauricio,

So they ARE in El Conquistador? Well I guess mounting a hotel set costs a bundle.

That's the second time Magdalena ALMOST discovered that Vero was her daughter. If only Botel had let her see the photo in the Prado Castelo mansion that evening...

Well, Manuel DID get a snootful of toxic gas. Now we can only hope.

"What's the deal with Pierre?" Pierre is definitely a weird character, sort of a hinge on which various plotlines turn, rather than a believable person.

Gringo,

I'm delighted you liked the recap. I hope your enjoyment of the piñata line doesn't mean you're a bad person. After all, I'm the one who wrote it, so what would that say about me? :D

"Dr. F didn't seem very happy about helping the sick miners."
No, gringo, he surely did not. But you have to admit he seemed to know what he was doing.

Nina,

I'm with you about grumpy grandpa and his superstitions about women in the mines. On the other hand, it was nice to see him publicly fire Manny and put Joaquín in charge.

Yeah, I totally get the slap. It's just that I thought the padre was supposed to be better than us. (Well maybe he is – after all, he's not the one who slapped Nanciyaga.)

Hope you have a quieter night tonight. That sounds like a scary storm you had.

Thanks for another superb recap, NovelaMaven. We can always count on you to deliver the facts as well as reveal delightful absurdities. You make it seem so effortless and unforced.

"This stuff should be in a museum"

I pretty much promised myself that I was not going to comment on medical aspects of this TN but I feel obligated to point out that Botel's World War I vintage equipment that Padre Juan brought in was a suction apparatus almost identical to the one that I used in the early years of my practice for proctoscopic procedures done in the office. For the life of me, I cannot imagine what possible purpose it could serve during a blood transfusion.

I was surprised at Jorge's observation that Martín's survival was good for Verónica but bad for Emiliano... and that Emiliano didn't even bat an eye.

I love the way Pierre twirled his mustache when he met Claudia. Bless his heart, he seems to have an appreciation of all women. I can't wait for him to meet our Ginny.

Carlos

Why of course the fact that the sketch looked exactly like our Verónica, they share the same name, both lost contact with their mother at an early age, and are the same age definitely rules our Verónica out as a possible match... Geez. So just how difficult would it be to consider DNA testing... so that just by chance...?

Carlos

Oh dear, Carlos. I meant no offense. In fact, more often than I care to admit, I've recognized flotsam and jetsam from my own life neatly labeled and displayed behind glass. (Indeed, I suspect that Mr. Maven and I both qualify as vintage equipment.)

Yes, the llamado de la sangre is DEAFENING. It will take a certain willful stupidity to keep Magdalena and Verónica apart for the requisite number of episodes. Fortunately, willful stupidity is always in abundance in our little world. (And perhaps in our big world too.)

Thank you for your lovely, blush-inducing words.

Novelamaven ..."willful stupidity"..I am writing that one down.

OT..Carlos, thanks to your alert, I caught the first episode of Poldark on PBS the other night. You know what I like. Did you watch the first season of "Outlander?" I may pull out my old videos of Highlander and dust them off.

I don't think Botel wants Maggie to find Veronica and I don't trust him, too smiley. He was the last one to see Demetrio and his version of events when he found Maggie may not be true. Now he brings Maggie to the same doctor that patched her up after the beatdown working on her noggin. Something stinks.

The guy playing Dr. Bottle played a very bad guy in the tn "Bella" on Telemundo a few years ago.

Re: the Martin and Veronica scene outside the mine, he didn't intentionally push her. He tried to take her arm and accidentally knocked her down, but he immediately said "perdoname". Of course, a fraction of a second later he doubled over in pain, so his "perdoname" was barely audible.

NovelaMaven,

It didn't even occur to me to be offended by your description of that somewhat dated medical equipment. That actually gave me a chuckle. I did puzzle over why it was brought in, however. That glass jar is a bit fragile and the whole thing is rather unwieldy. I was eager to see how Dr. Fernandez would utilize it. Alas, I was disappointed.

Susanlynn,

I'm glad that you got to catch Poldark. The scenery is starkly gorgeous. I can, however, already visualize a drinking game. take a drink every time Poldark is pictured galloping along that ocean-side cliff and maybe two if Demelza is riding perched behind him.

I did see every episode of Outlander and was enjoying it very much, but I wish I could unsee those last two episodes.

Carlos

Carlos, I just started the first book. The show is staying
pretty true to the original story, but some changes were made. Have you read the books ?The first book was written in the 90s. The author is working on the ninth in this series. You can find lots of interviews with the actors, producer, and author on YouTube.

NM--

What a great recap! You are so talented! Loved "the serial rubber"--so perfect. There may not be much action in that marital bed but there is a LOT of action in that bedroom. Vero seriously needs to invest in a lock for her bedroom door and keep Nance and Claudia out!

I thought Dr F and Claudia were great together. Loved the hotel scene where he's like "I'll help my dying patient after my nap" then Claudia indignantly makes him go and then SHE falls asleep in a chair!

Thanks again, NM. It is such a treat to read your clever recaps!!

Kirby--so right about Manny being crazy and out of control. And a drunk to boot.

I have to say though, had he gone after Claudia, I think she could have taken him in a fair fight!:)

Late in the day, but I had to drop in to say thanks for such a juicy and snark-studded recap. My only regret is that Manuel didn't breathe in enough of the toxic gas to do him in.
My hopes for tonight are to see Claudia tumble into the river. Pierre twirling his mustache was too funny.

Also forgot to say how much I loved the title--the animal fat, blood, and cyanide. Too bad we no longer have goats at our place, missed out on a sovereign remedy.

Latina,
Thanks for weighing in on the who pushed whom scene. You're right that after Vero slipped, Marty said perdón. It's good you are on The Patio looking after his interests:)

Aw Katy, you are so sweet. Thanks very much.
"There may not be much action in that marital bed but there is a LOT of action in that bedroom."
HAHAHAHAHAHA! So true. (Personally, I think they're on a tight budget and the few established sets are getting lots of use.)

La Paloma,
Welcome to the party! I share all your "hopes" and "regrets." Glad you liked the title. (As I'm sure you know, titles can be a bear. Last night, I got hung up on "When the Serial Rubber Finally Hits the Road," but had to abandon it as inapt.) Used to keep goats, huh? :D

Carlos,
Thanks for letting me know you weren't offended. There is a lot of offscreen sleight of hand in this one – it's cheaper and easier to count on our imagination than it is to portray a scene or an action for us. Maybe we should think of these ablated scenes as a kind of homage to radionovelas.

NovelaMaven,
An awesome recap as always. Thank You!

So much has been commented already. The one thing that had me going QTH was Claudia rubbing Martin's legs. And she didn't stop when Vero woke up. Makes me wonder what else she did while the couple was sleeping. Hmm...

Hasta pronto

Wow, thanks so much, AuntyAnn!

Yes, Claudia has NO SHAME whatsoever! I'm sure she'll still be rubbing Martín's legs when we tune in this evening.

Carlos
Maybe they needed some medical looking doohicky to make us think things are about to get serious in the shack. Maybe It would have been strange to show us how he was going to use that thing. It don't look like nothing I've ever seen used in a hospital for transfusion. But this is TV y' all we aren't supposed to know that.

Thanks Romy and NoevlaMaven for the clarification. I only understood a tiny chunk of that scene since I was mostly staring at a shirtless Marrtin ;)

Claudia reminds me of Araceli Cosby from Hasta El Fin Del Mundo, who was obsessed of getting her ex back!

Steve. You are right. When the little kid with the dog Polo I think, asked her what she could do she was stumped. I was mentally urging her not to tell the kid the x-rated truth about the only thing she is good at.
kj

I loved it when Veronica started actually growing a pair when she invited ClaW-dia to sleep in the room with Martin and maybe he could do is wedding night, as he ha NOT accomplished it Y E T.

Plus, Veronica reminds me of Sophia Ripoli-Cruz of Hasta El Fin Del Mundo.

Now where's Maury Povich?
