No good things happened in this episode that I can remember.

I was on Nanci's side but after last night she has totally lost me.

Manny needs to die a very long and painful death. Stabbing is too good for him.

After the fire, did we see if the bar guy died? I can't remember his name now.

And it looks like Ginny finally won and murdered Matilde! I can't believe they would kill her off!! My heart was breaking.

I'm really upset with this show right now! Feels very sadistic to me!!
 

I agree, Carvivlie. Last night was a tough episode. The only good thing I can remember right now is that Pablo is alive.
 

I haven't seen the episode yet, but I remember that Matilde did put a picture of Virginia and Demetrio behind the statue of Virgin Mary of Guadalupe in the bedroom. So, killing Matti will still not clear Ginny if someone find the picture.
 

Just finished watching this. Ye gawds, what a miserable episode! I'm with you, Carvivlie and Mari, really upset with this right now.

And even Pablo being alive...and cozily wrapped up in a terry cloth robe after a nice hot shower, while Ana Perla writes in pain and delirium in a jungle cage...UGH.

Nanciyaga's evil potion was just the final straw. A pox on the writers.

Adriana, take good care of yourself and bebita. Hope the doctor's visit went well.

This episode was a tough one. We are in a dark place right now.

Emi whining that Vero used him. Puh-leez! What is he talking about?! He's the one who begged and begged her for a chance and just wouldn't take "no" for an answer.

Nanci has totally lost it. The writers have ruined her character completely. Hey Marty .. you never drink what is given to you by someone obsessed with you!

Manny does deserve a terrible fate. I couldn't believe it when he set the bar one fire. Poor Medel. I hope he survives. They never did get back to him. I kept expecting there being a commotion in town with everyone trying to put out the fire. But no one in town seemed to notice it, it seems.

Die Old Goat. Die.

Is there any hope that someone will come and save Mati? Please don't kill her off.

The only good thing about the episode is that Pablo survived.
 

I too hope Mauricio that somehow Mati is saved by I'm preparing myself for the worse. I will miss tonight's episode but dvring. Crossing my fingers for good things to happen tonight.

I'm also hoping that Vero acts the same way that Montse did in Robo. In Robo, Maria (played by our own Ginny) drugged Ale and tried to make like she was having sex with him. Luckily, Montse had been through this so many times that she didn't believe Maria for a second and knew something was up, and it wasn't Ale! I hope Vero acts the same way.
 

Carvivlie I with you! I was thinking how refreshing it would be if Vero saw through the nonsense that has become Nonsenceyaga. Really, if the writers have her blame Martin and they break up AGAIN, I will think that they have made Vero a very inconsistent character indeed. She should be smart enough to see through this one.

I could barely watch Ginny killing Mati. We need her and Manny to have slow and painful anvils indeed.

And finally, yes it was super weird that we came to the next day and no one was talking about the arson at the Purgatory. Enough of Manny already, and the fact that OG can't see the horror that is is grandson makes me sick.

Wish we could have a week of anvils and then a few weeks of nice story lines-- but I know that is not how it goes.

Did Crescencio tell AP that Pablo was dead? He knew he wasn't, yes?

I couldn't believe when Marty drank the potion, too. How can the guy still not see that Nnacy is a lunatic? Will Vero find them together in bed or what?

Carvivlie, stabbing would be good for Manny, as long as the stabs aren't serious enough to cause immediate death. This way we would have the time to add some salt in them and then see him twitch in pain for all eternity. How does that sound?

JudyB, seeing AP like that, in the cage, just makes me so mad... I remember my first months of pregnancy... How can she still speak to that sorry excuse of an abuelo that she has is beyond me.

Mauricio, I think that Maty is dead, unfortunately. With so many people actually deserving to die in this show...

Rebecca, Crescencio does know that Pablo is alive. He did ask Manny for no more violence... I kidn of hope that Manny ends up killing the old goat, thsi way maybe he will finally see who his grand-son truly is.

PS: The doc. appointment went well, baby in a hurry to arrive.

So OG was lying to AP so he could get what he (now) wants, her to marry Julio. What is wrong with this man?! I do fear that if AP and Julio marry that Julio will die so that the happy ending of AP and Pablo can be realized. I definitely don't want that to happen to Julio. Way too good looking, lol!


 

Wow! Last night was a strong/tuff episode. Did anything good actually happen? Well Pablo is alive and improving after his beating but that's all that I can think of right now.

Carlos---both of your bad girls were flying high and Ramon Was there as well. I was waiting for Onyx to show up but I guess that he was still out chasing rabbits.

After Matilde got past the pillow Wednesday night, I was thinking that she was going to be safe but V-snake came back. Poor Matilde. That must be terrifying knowing what is about to take place and not being able to do anything about it. That scene was so very real and I must say that Delia Casanova played her death to perfection. I guess that it would be asking for too much to have a doctor walk in tonight and somehow give her a miracle cure. Carlos, do you know of any miracle drug?

Nanciyaga---The snails have spoken. Well yes if you are going to help them along. It was said that Marty and Vero would separate but we weren't told that Nanci would cause it to happen. She isn't about to give up on her patron.

I can't wait for the recap to get last night's details. A lot was going on.

AuntyAnn---I wrote you a second thank you for your recap yesterday but my comment didn't post. I did want to thank you not only for a super recap but also for an answer to the confessional question yesterday. I would have guessed that the curtain or screen would be mandatory. I was surprised when I read your answer that the curtain was optional.

Looks like Claw-dia has sung her last song or has given her last performance. We saw
Manuel pick up one of the gasoline containers on his way out last night but I am wondering if he left the other one. It would be a big piece of evidence if he did indeed leave the first container.

I can't take many more nights with Ana Perla crying in the cave jail. You would think that at least some of the towns people would start wondering where Ana Paula is.

This was a sad episode too. I hope Mati survives. I don't want her to die. I hate Virginia so much.

I really hate Manuel. He needs to be killed off! He is a nuisance. I feel so sorry for Ana Perla. She is suffering so much.

I really hate Nanci too. Martin I have to say is very very stupid!! He should have kicked her out asap and not accept anything from her. He knows she has feelings for him and he still not standing his ground to tell her to leave. If Nanci succeeds in sleeping with him, he also has himself to blame.

Looks like the writers are changing Emi's character. I really hope not because I like Emi. Just feel sad for him.

I like Emi too, as long as he stays on the side of good. Yes, his heart is broken and he was delusional about Vero, but I still think he is a good guy.

I did think it was funny when Marty was telling Vero it wasn't her fault, that she had told Emi how she feels, because Vero had told Marty many times how she felt, and he never listened once. Not once! Just kept coming after her, following her through the streets, forcibly touching her, tearing up divorce papers. He is way, way worse than Emi.

So Medel is/was making monthly payments to the Old Goat. Mafia payments or could it be that OG owns the building and Medel is just paying rent.

The fire remains a mystery in the sense that no one came to fight the fire. Does anyone know if Manny came late at night or very early in the morning? In either case wouldn't the towns people be sleeping?

Adriana---You brought us some light. Now Emi and Nanci will work as partners against Veronica. Not good but there hasn't been must good so far. Maybe tonight Pablo will find Ana Paula in the cave jail. Now that would be something to look forward to.

Now if Carlos can give us a little hope by naming a miracle drug to save Mati with I am sure that all on the patio will cheer. Magic leaves and smoke for sure won't help this time.

I'm glad he survived but how was he able to have the strength to walk on over to the hotel after such a brutal beating? A beating like that one would definitely have required a hospital visit. It felt like a beanie moment for me.

About Medel...
He pays Old Goat rent for the cantina. Manny promised to forgive Medel the rest of the money Medel owed to Old Goat if Medel won the poker game. Manny is obviously a sore loser and a monster -- can't wait until he gets his anvil and hopefully it'll be a good one.
 

Adriana what a great recap.
"Really, Padre, this is the best you can do under the circumstances?" Loved that. Makes me realize I have another confession question (I'm Jewish so I clearly have NO clue): If the confessor gives the priest permission to speak about what he/she confessed, what's the big deal? OR couldn't Julio have mentioned the same thing just outside the box AFTER the confession? I don't know if this is a Catholic thing or a TN beanie moment.

Re Emi, maybe because Vero said she would give him the opportunity to try to win her heart? Didn't she after he cancelled the wedding and the same night (I thought) serenaded her? I wish they didn't have to demonize the back up galan. Seems similar to what they did to Jose Luis in LQLVMR.

I REALLY hope that Vero goes bananas on Nanci tonight and not on Martin. If there off again, I'm gonna need a neck brace for the whiplash.

Beautiful work, Adriana! There are lots of great lines, but I think this one towards the end is my favorite:

"So help her free her soul (or whatever) by drinking a dubious looking potion that she just happens to carry in a pot. Marty rolls his eyes, but he’s so stupid, stupid, stupid, that he actually drinks the whole thing."

Exactly! Hahahaha!

It didn't occur to me that Mati might still be alive, but you have given me reason to hope!

I'm getting the feeling that you don't care for Manuel, but of course I could be mistaken. :-)

These are the inevitable Dark and Dreary Days that seem inevitable in telenovela melodramas. You are surely doing your part to get us through them with a bit of fun and zing. Thank you!
 

Love the title, Adriana, and right with you on all your puzzlement about the outrageous...or just ineffectual...behavior of the people in this one. Emilio has regressed to his 2-year-old persona (just so you know what to expect when bebita is a toddler); Nanciyaga is looney, and honestly, this is the most namby-pamby pussycat priest I've ever seen. Either priest from Sombra would have put things to right immediately.

Hope these Dark and Dreary Days don't go on for long, as I have enough dark and dreary days in my own life, thank you. I'm afraid Matilde is a goner, but Gretta certainly milked that scene for every thing it was worth. Clearly she is having fun with her role as a baddie. The first time I saw her, it was as a rather innocuous Random Girl in Heridas de Amor. She's certainly stepped up her game since then.

Manny needs to suffer immensely. Death is too good for him. It would be the easy way out. He needs lots of pain and suffering.

Carvivlie, you took the words right out of my mouth. I was thinking the exact same thing. If you stop and think about it, it would be stupid for Marty to be with Nanci, knowing that Vero was on her way. I really hope that Vero thinks it through, and then kicks Nanci out of her house.

I think Emi is hurt, but after his convo with Nanci last night I am afraid he is turning to the dark side. He is already starting to throw stuff around.

Please don't let Mati be dead. I hate Ginny!

Gringo, you are welcome. Sorry your comment didn't post. I found the info on Wikipedia. I also remembered that I have seen a person on a TN confess to a priest face to face. Most recently on QTPD.

Rebecca, if you tell a priest something during confession, then the priest cannot say or talk about it. Julio said what he said under the rules of confession knowing that the Padre wouldn't be able to say that he knew AP was pregnant and in danger. But I think the only reason Julio used the confessional method was because he said he was confessing a secret and he felt guilty about breaking that promise to keep the secret. I guess Julio thought that the Padre would have some kind of influence over Gramps. Guess again. Did this answer your question?

Mauricio---Yes it's amazing, only in a novela. Like you said, by all rights, Pablo should be in a hospital after that beating. In the magic world of novelas, I know that you have seen it many times where a fight will break out and two guys are slugging it out blow after blow and then when the next day arrives we see one of the guys with just a little red spot somewhere on his face. I always laugh but it just isn't in novelas, the phony baloney is in American movies as well. How many times have we seen two guys going at it for ten minutes or more slugging it out, falling over things, rolling around in the dirt pounding each other and then they get up for round two of the slug fest. while watching it, you ask yourself, aren't they out of breath yet? They're not even breathing heavily.

Will Vero take it out on Nanciyaga? Maybe, but I think that Martin will get the worst of her wrath. However if that happens it would be interesting because I don't think that he even knows his own name right now. It's must see tv tonight.

Thanks Adriana for the great recap. I missed the episode completely (everything from a Mariachi Band to signing myself out of a house loan happened yesterday... my very own Novela!!) Anywho I don't feel I have to go back and watch what apparently was a terrible episode at all!

Let's see umm at this point APs lack of MamaBear instinct convinces me she'll make as terrible a mother as Raymunda. I'm fine with AP dying in childbirf and Blanquita raising it with Arty. APs lack of protective instincts kills me. I guess because Mom taught me you should be ready to kill for your child even against your own family and I'm ready to do that whenever I do have children. So yeah AP you have failed at Motherhood and you haven't even begun.

Ugh and Manuel and OG!!! at this point my hate for the Alvarez Family is up there with my hate for the Lannister/Barratheon Clan! (Tyrion and Jamie exempted) My own family is from a place very much like the Green Hell but not nearly as ignorant by Jove! The Alvarez Clan would have been ridden out of town a long time ago.

I do hope Vero is inspired by the spirit of Montse from ROBO and figures out that Nancynada is just playing her and her man. Speaking of, Nancynada and Emi sure are hypocrites when they've hooked up with each other and now feel they have been "wronged" by some other outside party. Good Luck Losers!

Thank you, Adriana Noel, for a fantastic recap. It really cleared some things up for me too. Can't have been easy with such a dark episode, but you did it brilliantly.

Loved this one. I don't remember any such declaration either. Hopefully, Emi and Nanci will hook up eventually. They deserve each other, for better or worse.

I so hope Mati survives, although it looks bleak. Grettel Valdez was great as V-snake in that scene, and I do think she enjoyed playing it out.

Thanks for this sparkling recap, Adriana. Especially welcome to me since the CCs were disastrous. I'm pleased to hear that your visit with the Dr. went well. Happily ,your pregnancy seems to be progressing much better than poor Ana Perla's.

I wonder if Martín even considers the irony of his rash of moral advice for the other characters? He's lecturing anyone who will listen and even those who won't. Such as his condemnation for Crescencio:

"...but you are a selfish being who only cares about himself."

Hmmm, pots and kettles? glass houses and rocks?

It's sad about Matilde (sorry gringo, no miracle drug for Mati). That monitor didn't look promising. Where the heck was Magdalena by the way? I have to admit that I thought that scene was the most hilarious of the evening and you must concede that Virginia was at her malevolent best. I cracked up at the way she carefully flicked the syringe clearing it of air bubbles. Sure wouldn't want to inject a little air into someone that you're KILLING. I loved the sweet way she cooed to her Nana as she lovingly launched her into eternity. The girl's bad but she sure has style. Best murder we've seen in awhile.

Nanciyaga came in a close second to Virginia for best scene with her tasty love potion for Martín. Thanks Martín, not only are you crazy, but you're a fool as well.

Emi and Nancynada (thanks for the great name) ARE a bunch of hypocrites. They claim to love Vero and Marty, but forgot about that love when they were sweatin' it up together. Vero and Marty have not even cheated on each other. And hopefully that rings true tonight. I hope that Nancynada and Marty don't sleep together. When I was watching last night, I was like, "Oh Sh**! He thinks she's Vero. He's seeing Vero! Please don't sleep with her! Please don't sleep with her!"

I'm a modern thinking girl but last I checked you shouldn't be sharing your bits with just anybody if you're trying to win over your "one true love". As up and down as Vero and Marty are they have stuck to their vows of not sharing their intimate and physical selves with any one else so I have to give them a gold star sticker for that. Let's hope they can make it through all the landmines thrown at them!
