Tres Veces Ana - # 95 - Donde esta Remedios?

We are back with the master of truth Ramiro as he is uncovering all of the TioM’s secrets. It suddenly dawns on him how unfair it was for TioM to go against him during the Ana Let’s crusade to spoil his reputation. Mariano thinks these are totally different things and, besides, they are men you see and there is another part of the body they sometimes must think with and Ramiro is welcome to debate this from his righteous stand, but Mariano really has no other insight to offer. Except to say that he is not totally and alone at fault for Gina’s death.

In a shocking to all of us twist of events, Maribel has found Ana Lu finally and is trying to take her back to the store to show Ana Lu that girl who looks so much like her. We are starting to place bets on the number of coincidences that will fall into place to prevent the reunion. Kudos to Maribel though.

While that is happening, Mariano is still pleading his case. He must have read the Art of War a couple months ago preparing for the legal fight with Viridiana, and remembered the part on the offense being the best defense. His new angle on this whole thing is that everyone is responsible for Gina’s death – Valentin, Marcelo, Ramiro, as well as Mariano. Surely Ramiro isn’t proud of yelling at Gina like that, says Mariano and literally rolls his eyes at Ramiro’s attempts to explain himself by bringing to light such nonsensical and irrelevant things as cheating and deceit: “We all have an excuse Ramiro!”. (Yes, but other people’s excuses are actually valid, Mariano. We think you should consult Sun Tzu again, or any copy of Logic for Dummies.)

Shucks, familia Alvarez del Castillo is all packed up in a van by the time Maribel and Ana Lu make it to the store, which wraps up close call #103954. Maribel is bummed, but Ana Lu makes her feel better by inviting her for ice cream.

Mariano and Ramiro are still not done settling business, but are inching towards an eventual bro-hug. Ramiro points out he broke up with Gina as he realized he was in love with Llora and Mariano responds with feelings of pride that such a wonderful man is with his niece. They both wish they could change the past and agree that Llora does not need to know this ugly truth, as that would only hurt her. Mariano offers Ramiro a drink and they toast to second chances. Mariano gave Ramiro a second chance once (you know, when he first believed a ridiculous lie and then graciously withdrew his protests when truth was shoved in his face), says our Tio, and now he hopes he gets one himself. (We actually think that with such iron-clad logic, and complete inability to either see fallacies or course correct, he should run for a political office. Why is he wasting such talent in real estate?)

Tadeo and Nerina are listening to poignant music. Tadeo thinks Nerina looks beautiful, even when she is sad and wants to know what troubles her. Nerina mentions her problems with her son and Tadeo offers his usual wise and deep consolation comments. These two look good together.

Tadeo’s own sons are debating the moral implications of prostitution and whether or not Inaki is getting paid for sexual favors by Julietta. Inaki finds this conversation highly amusing, while Javier is highly alarmed.

Our friendly neighborhood hostel owner, who no doubts contracted short term memory loss from her step son to make her get in the car with the man who swore to destroy her, has arrived with the said man to some abandoned house in ruins. That apparently is enough to just slightly raise her antenna, so she inquires why she was brought to the place. (We are assuming from this that though it took them a while to get here, Facundo glued the pictures of the hostel on the car’s windows to make Remedios think they were just parked outside. So it makes sense that this strange place just jumped out of nowhere when she opened the door and hence must be a first chance to ask this very logical question.) Facundo answers it was so they can talk calmly and Rem is satisfied with this answer. But a burning doubt is eating at her all of a sudden – did Facundo bring her here to gravely offend her again by offering her money? (We wait in vain for a hand of the common sense to appear and smite Remedios, but alas…) So yeah, turns out Facundo does not have any intentions to offend her with money offers. He would, though, like to offer her to continue living if she would like, in exchange for getting the heck away from his son. The ‘oh crap’ look on Rem’s face cannot come soon enough.

Ramiro and Mariano are finally hugging and are best friends once again.( This was the most anti-climactic plot reveal of all time.) Mariano is looking forward to Ramiro asking for Llora’s hand in the evening and hopes Ramiro is ready for his protective Tio speech. Ram cannot wait. They are interrupted by the curious Ana Le, who came to investigate the commotion. Ram unceremoniously excuses himself and Ana Le squeezes in her well-wishes for his happiness with Llora, pointing out that she already has another commitment that evening. As the door closes behind Ram, TioM is unhappy Ana Le will be missing this important event.

Back at the abandoned house, Remedios is unwilling to take Facundo’s lifeline, so she is presented with Santiago’s alter ego – Marcelo. Marcelo asks Facundo to run along, as he will make sure senora is taken care of. Facundo gleefully skips away, in his mind already picking out tacky flowers for Rem’s coffin. Rem tries to reason with Marcelo and bring Santiago forward. Marcelo instructs her to keep quiet, he does not tolerate annoying people and thinks problems should be solved at the root. She should have known better than to bring an assassin into her house. He pulls out a gun and points it at a scared Rem.

Back at the real state agency, would-be politician Mariano is trying to find out who aired his dirty laundry. Was it Ana Le? Did she tell Ram that Tio was rolling around in the hay with Ram’s fiancé? Ana Le is appalled he would even think she’d betray him, and almost blurts out that she is completely in love with him, substituting “in love” with “on your side” just in time, and burying herself in Tio’s lap afterwards.

Elsewhere the stand-off of a woman, a man and a tumor is still going on. Rem wants to know if Facundo is aware of the tumor yet. Does Marcelo really think his cold and cruel father will care for him in his weak state? Facundo does not seem like the man who accepts weakness in his son. Rem is trying to appeal to Santiago in Marcelo, but Marcelo is rejecting her. She realizes Marcelo is hurt as well with a broken heart and cries for him. She tells him that he doesn’t need to be strong in front of her – if she could be a mother to Santiago, she can also be one for Marcelo. Marcelo, though, thinks that Santiago must die, and he will die if Rem dies, and so he orders her to get on her knees and points the gun at her again. Rem says she forgives him with all her heart and, as a last wish, asks him to let her remember some past moments: how she cared for him in the hospital, how she gave her heart to him the moment she saw him and since that moment never stopped praying for him. Marcelo looks like he is either battling with a headache or with Santiago, though it could be one and the same to him.

Javier is lamenting to Inaki that none of the gifts he gave Maribel brought any progress to their relationship. It must be because she is in love with that Orlando. Inaki offers his help, he will find a way to attract Maribel to his brother.

Tadeo and Nerina are commiserating on how rude and ungrateful children could be. Tadeo hopes one day Inaki will realize the error of his ways and come back, knowing that Tadeo is always there for him. And even though Nerina wasn’t always there for Tin in his hard times, it wasn’t by design and Tadeo is sure he will forgive her.

Maribel runs into Orly at the hostel and is about to spill the beans about Ana Lu’s double sighting. Orly’s overly interested behavior gets her antenna up though and she changes the subject. Why hasn’t Orly been to practice? Well, he has a well-paying job and doesn’t care if Anibal fires him.

Ana Lu, meanwhile, wonders where Rem could have gone. Susi says she shouldn’t be much longer.

Rem continues trying to jolt Santi’s memory by recounting their experiences. Marcelo says thank you for all you’ve done and now I have to kill you for your troubles. Yet, he is having a very hard time pulling the trigger. Rem is pleading for a last hug and kiss.

Llora is trying on a dress and she has audience it turns out – Ana Le. The latter muses that she might feel lonely when Llora is married and out of the house, then wonders if Edmundo would be coming to dinner. Llora hopes he will and Ana Le points out that it does not look like Ram’s dad either likes Llora or considers her a good match for his son. Zero self-esteem Llora says she can’t blame him, knowing her own shortcomings. She will fight to gain his acceptance, though and Ana Le insincerely wishes her luck.

Rem hugs Marcelo, who is fighting very hard to control Santiago inside him. She tells him she forgives him and understands why he needs to do it, and she will always love him. As she releases him from a hug, Marcelo is hit with a terrible headache again and grabs his head, moving this gun left and run (and we hope it’s on safety…)  Santiago seems to have won this part of the battle – he appears, hugs Rem and asks her to go, to run (Again we want to pipe in to say that we think she should listen…)

At the hostel Ana Lu is still worried about Rem and she shares her worry with Chana. Is it true Chana saw something in the cards? Yes, she saw death.

Mariano is inviting Viridiana to the dinner – he wants to introduce Viri to the family as his girlfriend. Mariano promises Ana Le won’t be a problem and Viri agrees to go. They seal the deal with a smooch, and who walks in the restaurant at this precise time to observe this, but Clawdia herself.

Ana Lucia can’t wait any longer – she will phone Santiago to tell him something terrible is happening and she is worried for Remedios! Chana advises her against it – she is just looking for a reason to hear Santiago’s voice and she has nothing to tell him. They don’t know what is going on. (It seems that about 90% of TVA’s problems could be resolved by timely and appropriate use of cellular phones, but that advanced technology might still be a decade away from their particular city district.) Chana says what she say in the cards can’t be changed by Ana Lu or Santiago – the evil is already in this house and she looks straight at Orlando, who appeared behind Ana Lu. Chana advises Orly doesn’t commit something he would be sorry for later, and he should remember that one pays for everything in this life. Orly barks something rude and scampers away.

Maribel is going for take three on trying to tell the Ana Lu’s twin story: she recounts her experience to Javier, who is incredulous. Maribel is pretty sure of what she saw and she has a theory: what if Sole had twins and kept one, and the twins’ father kept another one? They try to discuss all the possibilities and what to do now, when they notice omnipresent Orly standing nearby and listening in.

In the restaurant Clawdia “warns” Viri to be careful of Mariano, who uses women and throws them away. Viri does not look too worried and tells Claw that she sounds like a very bitter woman. Upon returning to the table Viri debriefs with Mariano, who noticed Claw in the restaurant as well. Viri thinks it’s of no importance and wants to continue smooching. They pick good time for restart, as Claw gets to watch that again.

Rem and Santi are celebrating their victory over Marcelo. This was the first time Santi could remember what he was doing as Marcelo. Rem thinks that if he puts his mind to it, Santi can win over Marcelo.

Chana is trying to calm Ana Lu. The door opens – is it Rem? Oh, it’s just my mom, says Ana Lu and leaves the room. Chana advises Sole to tell the truth again, but Sole is tired and doesn’t have forces for anything. If she loses Ana Lu, she will lose her will to live. Sole says she did what she did out of love. Sole may think so, but when authorities find out they might not agree, says Chana. Sole thinks they will put her in jail. May be it is a crime in the eyes of the law, but it was Sole’s destiny to save Ana Lu, Chana responds. (Ok, what side are you trying to argue here, Chana?)

Everyone is ready for the engagement dinner. Ana Le snipes at a very pretty Leonor that she is not to stand there as if she was part of the family. Erni corrects her granddaughter that Leonor is, in fact, family. Facundo is very attentive to Leonor and Ana Le wants to know where his son is. He should be arriving soon, she is told. Mariano arrives with Viridiana and presents her as his girlfriend. Ana Le silently seethes.

Suddenly, a door bell – it’s Marcelo! Ana Le wants him to go upstairs and change, but instead he stretches his hand to the door and pulls a very uncomfortable Remedios in. You see, Remedios is the woman who took care of him after the accident and he owes his life to her. He brought her here today, because the whole family is together and that is what Remedios is to him – more than a mother. Family. (We are all not sure if Santiago thought that someone was going to propose to him tonight as well and he should make sure all of his family is present, but the entertainment and shock value is fantastic, so no complaints). Everyone is surprised, Facundo is livid and feeling sorry he didn’t just finish the job himself. Ana Le looks like she could just disappear to avoid the shame of being in some form associated with this humble-looking woman. And Ramiro is the only one who warmly greets Rem and thanks her for coming. Tune in tomorrow for the rest of this exciting night!

Thank you, Ria, for your excellent recap. That last scene was the best and as you said " . . . the entertainment and shock value is fantastic . . ." It was good to have Santiago back. Marcelo is way too obnoxious for my taste.

Intentionally or unintentionally funny? Ana Leticia just cannot be happy for Ana Laura anytime anywhere. This time around Ana Leticia was going on about how Ana Laura is leaving her behind with her marriage to Ramiro and how hard it will be for Ana Laura to be accepted by her father-in-law in her new family due to her prosthetic leg. Then she wished her luck and actually knocked on the leg with her fist!! You could hear it!!

Viridiana seems to be doing quite well protecting her relationship with Marisno from the likes of Claudia and Ana Leticia.

Thank you for the recap Ria.

Ana Lucia deserved to be present during this special family moment. It's just not fair at all that a lot of people are keeping quiet. Santiago wanted to find out about his past and he was given the chance. Nerina wantes to find out about her kids and she was given the chance as well. Remedios was so nosy and wanted to find out about Soledad's past and she got, so why won't they give Ana Lucia the chance to know about her true origin? This is just wrong, it's just selfish. I hope Maribel tells Ana Lucia to go investigate if she has a twin and from there she gets to find out the whole truth.

Great recap Ria!

I'm getting a hoot our of Viri who keeps putting all these jealous twits in their place regarding Mariano. She was strutting her stuff last night, just hope nothing happens to her. Claws was not a happy camper and well, we know AnaLoon.

Speaking of whom, I got tired of the Marcelo/Rem threatening after awhile, but I LOVED having Santi walk in with Rem and the look of shock on both Facundo and AnaLoon's faces. Replay worthy.

I hope Maribel redeems her past bitchiness to her friend and tells AnaLu what she saw. So we don't yet have the meeting, at least AnaLu would know her sisters are out there. Enough already. I don't want this plot point to wait until the Finale.

Can't determine if Inaki is being a crap brother keeping Ghoul's away from his bro' or he's trying to protect him from the fake leech she is. I keep wanting this guy to be redeemed...let's hope Tadeo's wishes come true and we get that type ending for Inaki.

Tonight should be interesting.

Gracias, Ria! You made a fairly dull episode sound fun.

I knew the good side of Marcelo wouldn't allow him to kill Rem. As stupid as she was going there, she brought her brain to that confrontation. She killed him with kindness, and it worked.

Otherwise, having that scene last practically the whole episode was a bit boring. As was the fizzled out end of the Ram Mariano confrontation. Can't believe Ram let Mariano get away with his double talk and hypocrisy. A natural politician, indeed. Well, at least THAT didn't derail the engagement dinner. Something else will instead.

Way to go, Maribel. She told AnaLu about her double, took her there, came up with a Parent Trap theory (the best theory without having any facts), brought someone trustworthy into her confidence (Javier), and shut out the untrustworthy person (Oily). I look forward to seeing what she and Javier do to investigate.

Also, loved the way Viri handled Claw. But now she has two enemies. Is Mariano really worth all the trouble?

Looking forward to the rest of the engagement dinner.

I hope Maribel tells AnaLu about her Parent Trap theory. It isn't correct, but it would fit in with the facts AnaLu has so far (a father she never knew, and a sister named Sofia, both of whom Sol refuses to speak about), and spur her to further interrogate Sol.

It would also fit with other people confusing her for someone else (e.g. Claudia).

Great recap Ria Thanks bunches! I can't believe this show actually has me rooting for a brain tumor....Aaarrrgh Remy, you and your other two of the three Mousekateers really aren't smart enough to keep yourselves alive, but going to the engagement hoohah with Mr. T was worth saving you.

These mean girls fawning over these men need to see Shania Twain in "That don't Impress Me." NEXT

AnaPeg is about as interesting as an algebra book. When Luciferia..Er Ana Let tapped on her leg she should have pulled it off and beat her with it.

AnaLucia is pretty smart and not nearly as damaged as either of her sisters are. She has just got to start putting two and two together. I don't care if that only gives her three, it is better than 2+2=O.

After Seeing Maribel's amazing epiphany last night I will be watching for our recapper's and commenter's names in the credits. The writers must be reading Caray.

TOA

Thank you, Ria, for a fantastic recap. Summary and commentary are perfect!

Marcel showed some real smarts on several scores, including keeping Orlando out of the loop about her suspicions. Her relationship with AnaLu has been touched by so much jealousy but has also had its very sweet moments. I hope that she follows through and is a real friend in this case to our lost hermana.

I love Tadeo and Nerina together. Not sure what will happen with their children but Javier is the keeper of the three (Inaki dominates every scene he's in but not sure whether he will be redeemed or not there being the messy problem of Daniel's death).

The dinner scene was fantastic for the look on AnaLe's face as first Leonor was defended by Ernestina; then Viridian arrived with Mariano; then Santiago comes in an declines to change AND introduces Remedios. How wonderful to see nasty AnaLe out of control! However, I fear that the anvil hanging over the dinner party (agree, Vivi, something will happen) is going to be AnaLau getting cold feet after AnaLe's rotten encounter. Will she decide that she can't leave her psychotic sister? Or will Edmundo bring disaster?

The worst part of the silly encounter between Ramiro and Mariano for me was that they seem to have forgotten that the root of Valentin's interest in AnaLau is his hatred of one or both of them for their relationships with Gina (and whatever else Evaristo has going with Valentin). They can have a drink and make up or whatever, but Valentin is still lurking in the background ready to pounce.

Finally, love seeing Monika Sanchez as Viridiana in this novela. I hadn't seen for a while and she is perfect in this role.

Great work, Ria. This may be a pivotal episode.

Did I hear this correctly or did Santiago say that he is now able to remember things involving Marcelo? If so, that is progress.

I was hoping that Remedios would talk him into getting checked into the hospital to have the necessary operation. This would also require a session with a shrink. I don't think the brain tumor has anything to do with the split personality issue and unless something spectacular happens within the next handful of episodes he will still be dealing with that after the tumor is out.

Now Santiago and Ramiro will have to protect her from Facundo and Ana MeMeMe and possibly Evaristo.

What I am truly shocked by is Facundo's obsession with killing "Santiago" and his absolute ingratitude to Remedios. He grieved for three years over losing his only child and should be grateful to her for caring for him during what had to be a difficult and complex recovery. Ramiro has said that the Marcelo of now is not the same person who had been his best friend before, and we can see that in some of the black and white flashbacks. Facundo should also be able to see this. Why would Facundo want a sociopathic assassin for a son?

The only answers I can come up with are:

1. ...that he despises his own vulnerability. He went into hermit mode when told of Marcelo's death. He rejected overtures from Leonor, whom he had zealously pursued before. He was almost normal when she brought SantMarc to him. However, instead of being concerned and helpful when he realized his son had this split personality he became obsessed with rescuing the hard half and killing the softer half of it. This is not helping SantMarc at all. Remedios was probably right in her assessment of what he would think if he knew of the brain tumor although that makes no logical sense. It's not like a brain tumor is something you can prevent.

2. ...that he has a hidden agenda the writers haven't shared with us. Something we don't need at this stage of the story.

Good catch, Mati, on the whole Gina thing. Both Mariano and Ramiro are missing that essential fact. Men and their hormones....

Urban - LOL -- Men and hormones - well put!

I believe that we know that Fecundo has a monetary interest in Leonor, having discovered that she is Ernestina's half-sister. Do I remember that right? I have figured that he wanted Marcelo to remain with AnaLe and in the family for further monetary gain. But there may well be more that we haven't get heard. We still don't know who helped Santiago and staged the false funeral, although I don't suspect Fecundo.

Two dud dads in Fecundo and Edmundo - the true bond between Santiago/Marcelo and Ramiro.

Ria, this was superb from start to finish. What a wonderful writer you are!

"Mariano and Ramiro are still not done settling business, but are inching towards an eventual bro-hug' made me smile. My favorite among many was "We actually think that with such iron-clad logic, and complete inability to either see fallacies or course correct, he should run for a political office. Why is he wasting such talent in real estate?)". Hear, hear!

So many interesting and absorbing events last night. My absolute favorite was Inaki and Javier...Javier thinking Inaki was prostituting himself and Inaki's reaction was great. Poor Javier. Wait until he learns the truth. I sense though that despite being a murderer (and other titles of ill repute), Inaki will be protective of his brother. daisy, I think that is the sole reason he hasn't told him yet. Although the way identities are being unmasked at an alarming rate (Maribel being the latest), this could come at any time.

Facundo is cringe worthy. However, he was rivaled by Ana Let's despicable act "Then she wished her luck and actually knocked on the leg with her fist!! You could hear it!!". Yes, that was horrifying Jarifa!

Vivi, I do not see any charm in Mariano. Whatsoever. IMHO, he is not worth anything. He and Ana are two peas in a pod and the fact he might have a shred of conscience while she does not does not absolve him of guilt.

Welcome to the family Viri! Ack...

Ria, this was wonderful. Thank you!

Diana

Thank you, Ria. This TN is fertile soil for snark, isn't it? "We are assuming from this that though it took them a while to get here, Facundo glued the pictures of the hostel on the car’s windows to make Remedios think they were just parked outside." OMG, yes.

Not to mention, when someone says they have to talk to you, and then there's a car ride, you could talk DURING THE RIDE!! But would that would spoil the fun of Marcelo showing up? No, he could have hidden under a blanket in the back seat, and then popped up at the right moment. That would have been awesome.

The Mariano/Ramiro scene was bizarre. First the bitter argument and then the kind words and the drinks. I don't understand TN men at all.

Vivi: "Is Mariano really worth all the trouble?" Heh, I don't think so. Viridiana should check out some other TN for a better novio.

I like that Maribel thought of a possible twin scenario. Soledad, for all of her lies, was rather careless not to make up a more solid backstory for herself. People wouldn't be speculating about her past and her husband if she'd been just a tiny bit forthcoming. And it's not as though she doesn't know how to lie. (She used to, anyway. She's been really lousy at it lately.)

Everyone who's anyone has warned Soledad that it's inevitable that AnaLu will find out eventually, and has advised Soledad to be the one to break the news because AnaLu will be even more unhappy with her if she hears it from someone else. This is just common sense, and it's been unanimous. I get that Soledad is afraid, but why isn't she even more afraid of the alternative? It's not as if she'd have to do it alone if she's afraid to. I'm sure Rem and/or Nerina would help her with The Talk.

TOA: "When Luciferia..Er Ana Let tapped on her leg she should have pulled it off and beat her with it." I hate to admit it, but I thought the same thing. I wish Ana Laura would find her inner badass ninja.

The ending, with Facundo gaping at Remedios, was priceless. I cannot wait to see tonight.

Traveling Lady! Good to see you again. :-)

Ria, you always do a wonderful job recapping. Thank you.

Last night I got a few laughs with the scene between Viri and Claw. Viri used the word “depechada” with Claw which means spiteful. Yep, she sure has Claw pegged correctly and Claw started to look somewhat unhinged as Viri effectively had her number.

My other favorite scene was with Maribel and Javier sitting together while Maribel was telling him about seeing Ana Lu’s “twin” and describing that maybe there was a divorce and one twin went with the father and the other went with the mother (like in the Parent Trap). Then Oily approaches them and Maribel says something like, “Let’s go somewhere else, I get sick/disgusted when there are cockroaches around.” (Los cucarachas me dan asco.”)

Since money seems to be the root of most of the evil of this tale, I'm guessing Facundo wants the Marcelo character to stay since he best meets the needs of staying with AnaLoon, and who knows, knows where the Ev hoard is at--could Facundo be aware of some hidden money? Anyway, can't trust him as far as you can throw him. Anvil worthy. And offing Rem isn't going to "keep" Marcelo-- if anything it sets up his own son as a murderer to take the fall if the killing ever trails back to Marcelo. Nice dad. Wonder if becoming a hermit was more to do with losing the big score than losing his son.

And that leg knock by AnaLoon to her sister--that look by Llora when she did should have been followed quickly by a good slap to the face. Dear lord, you do anything for this girl, having her grow a spine to tell off these manipulators and con artists.

Awesome recap Ria!

I can see Facundo trying to finish the job killing Rem. It was priceless seeing the look on his and AnaLet's faces when she was introduced.

No wonder Ana Llora has such low self esteem, her primary care giver, Leonor, refuses to speak up for herself and would rather be the help than take her rightful place next to her sister.

I don't really believe the Viri/Mari relationship but I love listening to her take down AnaLet and Claw.

I think Inaki was trying to shield his brother from Ghoulieta. She is an awful piece of work, and he falls not too far from the tree himself, but he knows Javi is different. Ghoulieta doesn't deserve sweet Javi and Maribel doesn't either.

Speaking of Maribel, YEAH for doing what most people would do and dragging AnaLucia over to the shop. The fact that Lucia didn't take her more seriously, after all the mistaken identities, leaves me to believe she has fallen from her ropes and hit her head one too many times. I love though that Maribel is putting the pieces together. If AnaLu had thought about it seriously she would have too. As someone else stated, the original had AnaLu finding her family in the last episode. Right now we seem to be going that direction, which sucks.

I love Nerina and Tadeo together!

One last, I hope AnaLet doesn't ruin tonight for AnaLlora but I'm sure she'll find a way to be the center of attention.

Carvivlie, I agree with you about Inaki trying to shield Javier. He would probably be better off not knowing, but I don't think he gets out of this story without knowing that Ghoulieta abandoned him and Inaki back when.

BTW, she is looking ghoulish or maybe I'm remembering the great makeup job they did on her in YNCELH.

Facundo is not poor, so I don't get it. We haven't gotten any evidence yet that he has anything to do with Ratmundo's scams, but if that comes to light I'm willing to bet that Marcelo knew nothing about it. Him marrying Ana MeMeMe might have been the gateway to that world, but bringing Ana Lucia back into the fold wouldn't change anything. If SantMarc does end up with Ana Lucia at the end, isn't that still a win?

Of course, Facundo doesn't know that Ana MeMeMe is a killer. I doubt Marcelo shared that with him.

Facundo doesn't need money. He's rich in his own right. Their family is from money. When Marcelo "died" he even gave up all his businesses and properties and became a hermit. He didn't even care what happened with the money from the sale of all of those assets. It was Rodrigo who went ahead and invested the profits from the sale of Fac's assets, making Fac even richer than he was before. When Marcelo first said he was divorcing AnaLet, he didn't care. He only cares that he gets back his strong, high class son, not the weak, humble taxi driver who is more fond of Remedios than he is of his father.

I don't get his interest in Leonor. He obviously thinks it's a good match because she's rightfully a Rivadineira heir, and therefor the right class for him. But he's not wanting for money himself.

I think it is a status thing. In the beginning someone stated that the girls were heiresses and obviously they come from a rich and noble family. Facundo maybe a status climber. He has money but not that sort of old money and prestige. Marrying Leonor, if she would assert her rightful place, would open those doors to him. He seems too evil to really care for Leonor. I think he sees her as someone he can use and push around...not too far off the mark.

Does AnaLet.me.sh_t.on.you not know Leonor is her Gramma's half sister? Is it just us here in Viewerville who know? Gramma Erni acts like it is common knowledge, but the way AnaLet spoke to Leonor last night makes me wonder. Egads that little painted witch makes my blood boil. Did I mention I don't like her?

toa

Nobody knows except Leonor, Ernestina, and Facundo (somehow).

Thanks, Ria. Terrific snarkilicious recap. My fave: We are assuming from this that though it took them a while to get here, Facundo glued the pictures of the hostel on the car’s windows to make Remedios think they were just parked outside.

I’m so disappointed Ramiro didn’t punch out Mariano.

If Mariano is to find redemption, he's got to do something deep and sacrificial, but he's still covering -- trying to find out who ratted him out about Gina. And I bet he didn't tell Viri he put a gun to Gina's head. I don't think he killed Gina, but that was a pretty low thing to do to someone who'd given him so many hot, frisky moments.

Don't know why Viri is so trusting of Mariano, but then she hasn't slept with him yet so maybe she's still just testing the waters. Anyhoo, she looked smashing last night. I liked both her dresses. Not a lot of skin showing like AnaLe, but chic.

Kudos to Maribel for keeping her yap shut around Oily. There's hope for her yet.

I thought AnaLet knew about Leonor being a half-sister too. Or does she only know that Leonor had a thing with Facundo? I remember when she made a big deal of saying that she knew Leonor's "secret."

Julie- Yes, the secret AnaLet knows is about Facundo. And the reason it's so scandalous to her is because she believes Leonor is a "nobody."

Why are they bothering to keep this secret about Ernestina and Leonor being half-sisters? It's really not a big deal any more, and their parents are dead and can't be embarrassed by it.

Ernestina wants to come clean about it. It's silly Leonor who won't allow her to spill the truth to the family.

Julie, I think it's really Leonor holding up the secret. Leonor keeps saying she is only the daughter of the housekeeper. She refuses to be acknowledged and Ernie won't do it unless Leonor gives her the okay. I guess maybe Leonor is embarrassed by it because she wasn't raised like Ernie and doesn't measure up.

"(We actually think that with such iron-clad logic, and complete inability to either see fallacies or course correct, he should run for a political office. Why is he wasting such talent in real estate?)"

So true, so true Ria. And you got off a multitude of zingers in this one. "...studying the Art of War", the theory about the car ride and then this terrific line:

...a standoff of a woman, a man and a tumor

Yessss...that was a verrry loooong scene. And a boatload of noble, maternal treacle gushing all over the place. Okay...we get it. Remedios is our iconic figure of self-sacrificial maternal love, just a short step down from la Virgincita. And of course Love conquers Evil.

Fine.

Anyway, other than wincing over AnaLeticia's cruelty to Ana Laura (nasty girl just can't bear her lame sibling being happy one single micro-second) this was an enjoyable episode. Vridiana continues to have incredible self-confidence and an I Am Woman Swagger. Fun to watch.

And Okay...admit that Mariano is tawdry goods. But man! those blue eyes. They still get me. Never been good at picking men. So go for it Vridiana!

OK. Sometimes I can be a little harsh, so here goes....Leonor needs to make it public, demand the family will and assets include her, and slap AnaLet so far into next week that her paint can't catch up with her.

It could be cleansing for her and Ana to switch jobs for a while.

I don't know if Leonor could do AnaLet's job. (AnaLet's job, as far as I can tell, consists of teasing Inaki and pestering her uncle. Leonor's not cut out for that sort of thing.)

And I KNOW AnaLet couldn't do Leonor's job. That is, she wouldn't. Not unless there were some sort of incentive, like the kind in a videogame - "you must scrub every tile of this floor in order to unlock the door, while the room gradually fills with poisonous spiders."

Oh she would be right at home with the OTHER poisonous spiders. :-)

You're right. She would probably frighten them away.

Okay. She has to scrub the entire floor to unlock the door; meanwhile, the room fills with the sound of SAD PIANO MUSIC (and glowing praise for the pianist). Get scrubbin', AnaLet!

Thanks, everybody - I am only now getting away from work and will be back here to read and respond to all of your comments shortly!!

Wonderful recap!

Rem is the last of the "three amigos" from the pension to meet AnaLet. Now that she knows what kind of awful person AnaLet I, I hope she will put pressure on Santi to bring AnaLu into the fold-whether Soledad likes it or not.

I also hope she puts pressure on Santi to have that Tumor removed...

Jarifa, oh my goodness - you reminded me of this knocking on the prosthetic leg scene. I turned away to pour wine while I was watching this scene and wasn't sure if I really saw that happen, and I almost convinced myself it must have been something else. Surely, even Ana Let can't be that terrible. Turns out - she most certainly can.

Anon 2:49 - couldn't agree more. Everybody seems to be finding out truth about themselves and Ana Lucia as well, while she will probably find out by Ana Le pointing Marcelo's gun at her head. With any luck, Maribel and Javier will play helpful detectives again, as in the case of finding out Santi's whereabouts in the hospital, and maybe, just maybe help shed some light on this for Ana Lu.

Daisynjay, I was debating the same thing about Inaki and not telling Javier the truth. I settled on the fact that he surely realizes that Javier will be all about getting to know lost mother, and so Julietta will have a son she doesn't need to pay, so Inaki's river of gold will dry out. Perhaps he will surprise us though with some fraternal protective instinct...

Vivi, ditto on the never-ending Marcelo-Rem scene. Come to think of it, last time I was recapping we had the never-ending Santi-Ana Let breakfast. Maybe it's a Wednesday thing?

TOA, yes, not much of a choice between Santi and Marcelo, is there?

Hi Traveling Lady and welcome! I see you are a long time commenter, but you are new to me, and I am excited to see you. Hope you come often! And I enjoyed the dinner scene immensely as well and looking forward to tonight. I wonder also if Edmundo is going to show up at all? My money is on him snubbing the party.

Urban - two very good points! Everyone seems to have forgotten about the giant, growing, about-to-kill-him-any-minute tumor! Are they leading up to a dramatic scene of Marcelo collapsing, being rushed to the hospital to get the tumor extracted and subsequent wait on pins and needles - which one would emerge, Santiago or Marcelo.
And also - I was thinking the same thing about Facundo. How can any person not feel gratitude when someone helped their loved one when they were in danger and in need? Why try to kill Santiago? Why not provide him with your support and help him reconcile with Marcelo and remember in peace and calm? I am inclined to agree with your second theory and Facundo having a hidden agenda. Can he, too, be after that deposit box?

Diana, I keep meaning to tell you that I am very glad to have you back with us discussing on a regular basis lately. I don't always get a chance to respond to your comments on days I don't recap due to at times crazy work schedule, but love reading your thoughts as you always make such great points. And today I need to agree with you on Mariano. He lost all charm for me with his past misdeeds and this absolutely weak character. Viri can do so much better.

Julie - LOL: "Viridiana should check out some other TN for a better novio." ITA and am still laughing having read that!!

Cynthia, I loved how Viri handled that scene. Clawdia, used to Mariano's young immature girlfriends, was clearly surprised.

Thanks Ria great recap, am still relying on you and other recappers to keep me up to date

Aww Marcelo/Santiago I hope they don't take till the last week to get rid of that tumor, there are some interesting ways they could take that story if they wanted too

Carvivlie, "I don't really believe the Viri/Mari relationship" - THIS! I don't understand where this sudden love (on Viri's end) materialized. I can definitely see where Mariano's "love" appeared, but she always seemed just mildly intrigued by him. Suddenly it's all so very serious.

Niecie, Ramiro/Mariano scene was so disappointing! I don't get how Ramiro went from livid to excited for having Mariano in his life. We are of course going towards rehabilitating our dashing blue-eyed Tio, but all the same Ramiro had all the right and reasons to be angry.

JudyB, oh yes - the love conquers evil angle and Rem's willingness to self-sacrifice bringing Santi back. I was hoping for a more original material here, but instead we got Marcelo with eyes rolling way to the back as Santi was trying to take control. Eerie to watch too. Unlike Viridiana - she, as you so rightly pointed out, is amazing to watch!

Virginia, from your mouth and to the writers' ears! :)

Sneaky - you are so welcome and I, in turn, am looking forward to one of your amazing recaps tomorrow! I also hope that some of these great plot twists get their due screen time and not be shoved in the last ten minutes of the finale.

Ria, thank you so much for your wit, talent and time.
I am way behind reading the recaps and comments because I am wstching 3 novelas. I am watching 3xAna, El color/Pasion and "AQNMD"
I record AQNMD and then watch all 3 back to back.
I love all of them!

I hope Ana Laura finds out the big lie Analet told her abuela that she caused the accident. She tried, but Abuela and Tio shushed her up, still believing that lie but not telling ALaura, how unfair!

Yes, that part killed me when she knocked on her sister's leg. Then she smiles sweetly. Ugggghhhh

I think she's ready to get another b---tch-slap!

Well, Ram been promising ALaura forever that he will have her sister there until the wedding. Just dragging it out. I know he and Santi were waiting for right moment. So thats what Ram will get, someone else is now doing that and getting all the glory. What a shame! Que tonto. (Imho). i just wanted him to do it.

Oh well, maybe that is the plan to keep the tn interesting.
