Tres Veces Ana, #98, Monday Sept 19, 2016: Worst. Explainer. EVER.
------------------------------
"So, what's up with this lie?" Ana Laura asks her lying sister. "Pitting people against me? Freeing yourself from your guilt?"
Ana LetMeDriveTheCarDaddy sits down slowly and dramatically, stalling for time while she cooks up a better lie. Oops, no, she's going a different way tonight: "Okay, you got me. I told Abuela that you caused the accident. And what else did she say to you? Nothing, right? She didn't throw it in your face. I bet she even apologized. Of course. She and everybody are different with you, because I'm not the cripple."
She goes on a little more with her jealous, venomous outburst, and then concludes: "Yes, the blame for the accident is on me. But what do you think? That I knew what I was doing? No, think about it. You were there."
Ana Laura maintains a dignfied quiet through the entire tirade, then tells AnaLet she's already said that she doesn't need to feel guilty about the accident. This just makes AnaLet more hysterical. When Laura tries to make nice, AnaLet becomes maudlin about Laura's impending wedding which will leave AnaLet alone in a house full of memories. "You'll forget all about me - me, I am part of yourself." This provokes one tiny tear of denial from Laura.
Ernestina rehashes with Leonor the conversation about the accident. Oddly enough (in light of AnaLet's recent complaints), they are both feeling sorry for all the torment Ana Leticia has suffered over it. "We shouldn't judge her, poor thing," Ernestina declares. (Come on, Ern. You can judge her for lying!) Ern and Leo agree not to confront her about it. However, Ern wants to find some way to help her, especially now that they know Ana Lucia is dead it's time to put it all behind them. They need to get over it as a family.
The phone at the office is ringing, ringing, ringing as AnaLet asks, "Is there anything else you'd like to blame me for?" (She's gone from angry, to sad, to huffy within five minutes. I'm dizzy.) She wants to get back to work. But Ana Laura says, "We're not done talking." She wants to talk about Ramiro. "What is your problem with me?" "He wants to separate you from me," is AnaLet's lame excuse. Laura doesn't buy it. Leticia addds, "I can't stand that you love him more than you love me. There, are you satisfied?" Laura says it's a different kind of love, but she cannot seem to assuage her sister's bitter resentment.
You know, I really want to continue reporting every crazy nasty morsel of this mind-boggling conversation, but it's taking too long. She makes a crack about Laura's limp and predicts that Ramiro will cheat on her. "Don't say I didn't warn you," she finishes.
"Our communication is broken," Laura says. "I don't know how to help you." She leaves, and AnaLet flings a bunch of stuff around her office.
And now for another big conversation. It appears that although Ramiro and Mariano are at Ramiro's place, they didn't talk at all on the way over, because Mariano is angrily asking Ramiro what's going on. He is aghast that Ramiro hasn't said anything about Ana Lucia, even when Evaristo told the family she was dead. Ramiro promises that Mariano will want to keep his mouth shut once he learns the truth, too. If he tells, it will destroy Ana Lucia's whole world. "A world of lies," Mariano replies. He is determined to restore her to her place within the family.
Orlando watches from his car as Ana Laura meets a chauffeur outside. Brainy guy that Orlando is, he slowly counts to three on his fingers. (Whew - he made it! For a moment there, I wasn't sure he would.) "It's the other sister!" he exclaims to himself. No shit, Sherlock!
As Ana Laura leaves the Realty Joint, Ghoulieta drives up with Iñaki. She asks what happened to that car he bought. He says he sold it. She offers him Daniel's old car. He says he'll think about it.
AnaLet is coming out of the Realty Joint just as Iñaki is going in. She wants to go out for a drink, but Iñaki needs to go inside for some papers first. While AnaLet waits outside, Orlando watches as Ghoulieta approaches her. "I beg of you, stay away from my son!" Ghoulieta demands.
Back to Ramiro and Mariano. Ramiro's lame/nonexistent arguments have all failed to persuade Mariano to keep the secret of AnaLu, so Ramiro threatens to formally accuse him of Gina's death. What?? And only NOW does he mention that he promised Marcelo not to talk about Ana Lucia, because AnaLu is his lover.
POW!!! You know, Mariano might be a self-absorbed, hypocritical, womanizing... wait, where was I going with this? Oh yeah, I'm not a big fan of Mariano, but I feel sorry for him right now. Ramiro's narrative skills leave much to be desired. He is a terrible explainer. Mariano should really be sitting down for this.
(Somewhere in the city, AnaLu meets up with Santiago. They hug. Apparently, Curvas the taxi driver gave her a message from Santi.)
And now, because Ramiro has totally failed to tell his story in any kind of logical order, Mariano is flipping out over Marcelo cheating on AnaLet with her own sister. He's gonna kill him! He says it's the worst thing he's ever heard of, although I'd say it's also pretty bad to boink your girlfriend on her wedding day, and then hide in her closet while she has a fight the groom. But what do I know? He's sure Marcelo never lost his memory. He doesn't buy the dual-identity thing, either.
AnaLu tries to convince Santi to stop fighting against their love.
Back to Mariano and the world's worst storyteller. NOW Ramiro finally mentions that AnaLet knows about Ana Lucia too. D'oh! Does anyone else want to reach through the screen and slap Ramiro silly? Any one of us could have done a better job of this.
At the Realty Joint, AnaLet tells Ghoulieta that she can't stay away from Iñaki - he's her coworker. Ghoulieta blames AnaLet for Daniel's death and doesn't want Iñaki to end up the same way. She leaves with a vague threat to leave Iñaki alone, or else.
Ramiro tells Mariano that AnaLet must have her own reasons for keeping the secret about AnaLu. AnaLet and Marcelo need to work out their problems before AnaLu is revealed.
Mariano still really doesn't want to keep the secret. He asks Ramiro, in his opinion, when would be the proper time to let Ana Laura know? Ramiro says, six months, on his wedding day.
Mariano asks why Evaristo lied to them. Ramiro explains that it was to protect the woman who raised AnaLu as her own.
Mariano says he is not entirely convinced that he can keep his mouth shut, and he's not impressed by Ramiro's threats. Ramiro says Mariano owes him for all that he's done to him. Mariano says okay, then tell me EVERYTHING and then I'll decide, but no promises.
AnaLet tells Ghoulieta that she's got no business referring to Iñaki as her son. Furthermore, Marcelo did not kill Daniel. That was someone else. Ooh, and here comes Iñaki!
Santi is surprised to hear that Remedios didn't tell AnaLu all about how Marcelo was going to shoot her dead. He tells AnaLu that she and Soledad need to take off for their own safety. She's sure he would never hurt them. "Our love is your strength," she assures him, and that piece of intel came straight from Marcelo himself. Santi replies mysteriously, "Someday you'll understand that everything I do, I do for you because I love you. Never forget that." And he walks away.

I recall AnaLet laying out her plan for ISkidrow to Inaki, Maribel/Ramiro/Oilyinthetrunk and AnLuc overhearing Tio accusing Soebad. I think,,,,those were the main points in the last half. And Evilist in the hospital with Chana getting him out.
These bombs keep coming down every night I am going to have to drag out my helmet and flak jacket.
toa
Earlier while Ghoul is telling AnaLet to leave Inak alone OilyBoy has seated himself nearby in this little outdoor cafe, to eavesdrop. He overhears all the details about Daniel’s death and that AnaLet knows it was not Marcelo but someone else. (HIM) He freaks out and calls Evil but can’t reach him. Back at the rooming house he calls again all freaked out that he could be found out and charger with murder. We see Evil in the hospital. While Oil Can Henry is freaking out to Evil, Maribel walks up behind him and hears it all. He tries forcing a kiss on her to assure she will not tell anyone.. BAD IDEA OILY. When the fallacy of that plan becomes obvious, he tries plan B. Beat the shit outta her. ANOTHER BAD IDEA, as Rambo just happens to be arriving. Rambo beats him like a rented mule, and stuffs him in his car trunk. Maribel is banged up a little but in heat now. I don’t recall that we ever saw what Rambo did with him.
I am surprised the PoPo have not started watching Remmi’s Rooming House as a suspected HoHouse, the traffic that place sees all hours of the day and night. That said, Tio is back to ‘Visit’ with a trembling, blubbering, crying mound of guilt, we will call it SoeSorry. Her excuses are not holding much water with Tio Mariano. His lecture to her sounds like it was copied straight word for word out of our comments here on Caray. Every stupid thing she can come up with, Tio has a sensible retort. It was his finest thus far in this TN. So Of Course, Ana Luc is just coming home and overhears the later parts. And ole blue eyes looks right into hers and tells her he is her long lost uncle.
OK I tried to get the main points before I forgot too much. At least maybe this is a start. I will let the professionals take over now.

Isidro is sitting in a hotel room somewhere thinking that "Ana Lucía" (really Ana Leticia) and how she has to be his no matter what the cost.
As Evaristo is leaving the hospital, Chana wants Evaristo to come and stay with her at a little house he bought in the city. She insists so she can take care of him. She won't take no for an answer. He hems and haws but it looks like that is where he is going to end up.
Maribel overhears slimy Orlando talking about ?????-- I was on the phone and missed this part--and she tells him Ana Lucía will hate him the rest of her life. Orlando goes wild and slaps her, roughs her up and then starts kissing her to shut her up. Ramiro comes to her aid. Maribel says Orlando is a murderer and killed Daniel. Ramiro beats up Orlando (YAY!) and stashes him in the trunk of his car.
Ana Leticia is having a fine old time in bed with Iñaki. She wants him to help her get rid of Ana Lucía. Ana Leticia is in all of her twisted glory. She will not lose it all. She does not want to have to share her inheritance with one more sister but it is more than that. She does not want to share the attention or love of her family either. She wants it all for herself. No second place for her.
Mariano shows up at the pensión and confronts Soledad. She takes him to talk in her room and begs him on her knees to please not take her daughter from her. Please do not send her to jail. Mariano calls her a criminal and threatens to do just that. She finally convinces him to let HER tell Ana Lucía first just as Ana Lucía who has heard them arguing out in the hallway comes into the room just to be introduced to her uncle Mariano. So finally the cat is out of the bag.
The gem of the episode for me was tío Mariano saying that Marcelo having a relationship with Ana Leticia AND her sister Ana Lucía was an ABERRATION like nothing he had seen in his life. Uh, did he ever look in a mirror at him with Ana Lericia crawling all over him? Now THAT is an aberration!
Another fun episode.
Thanks to my fellow "night owls" for continuing the recap. This was another exciting episode. Seems like the action is picking up...
From the look on his face Inaki just might do what Ana MeMeME demands. He killed Daniel who -- like it or not -- was his own brother. He had been friendly with Ana Lucia and had been Santiago's friend and he is now likely to help kill her for that worthless ho.
Just as an aside, anyone who demands all the attention and all the love in a family or circle of friends is not worthy of any of it.
I doubt Ramiro can afford to abandon his car, but he might beat the daylights out of Orlando again and just dump him somewhere if he doesn't turn him in to the police for beating up Maribel.
More later. I need some z's.
You got most it and posted very quickly. Nothing to apologize for.
And thanks to TOA and Jarifa for adding more of the happenings, each with your own perspective, that
was fun reading too.
ITA with Jarifa that there is nothing worse than what his niece does to him, and he acts clueless and does not tell her how inappropriate because he likes it. At least Santi/marc is not blood related to ALet or AnaLu.
One thing that I didnt get was why Oilhead was so paranoid when he called Everisto. Well thanks to the recaps, I got it. It was because when he overheard Analet tell Goulieta that she KNEW who beat up Daniel. Hahaha he must pooped in his pants. Sorry for gross thought.
Yes that Maribel was a bit banged up but went into heat is the truth Big Time. Lol! (TOA)
"Brainy guy that Orlando". (Julie) Actor plays the role well.
Several many other notable lines.
Goodnite nite owls (Virginia) actually trying to change that, but its hard to break cycle. Trying to go to bed early, 2:20am is early for me.
Finest moment: Oily can count!! Honestly, how lame is this guy? And the swat at Mar--wow, so superhero Ram saves the day again. LOVED the trunk dump. Can't wait to see where they wind up.
AnaLoon is officially off the "I'll show them I'm sane" train. The outburst to Llora was sad enough, but the fact she just spilled it all to Inaki was off the charts. Now, I'm sad because I'm still hoping this guy ( who do we REALLY know wo killed Daniel?) redeems himself, maybe before going out with a bang, and brings AnaLoon down. He had a bit of a sick look on his face when she snuggled in after her tirade.
I just wanted to slap Soledad silly last night and yes, every word out of Tio was like listening to the patio comment sections being read out. So much of her "my daughter" was all about her - no ounce of regret she was denied her family, and of course the pleading to not go to jail. Maybe it can be argued she kept AnaLu safe away from her scheming sister, but I just can't go there. She still denied her her real family and maybe having all three sisters together would have stopped AnaLoon's "I want it all" plan. We will never know.
Poor Ram...he does try but really, wait 6 months to tell AnaLu? With everything he KNOWS going on, 6 months? Gees.
I do thank you for the excellent recap. "...maintains a dignified quiet" was my favorite along with the perfectly captured "Laura says it's a different kind of love, but she cannot seem to assuage her sister's bitter resentment".
I have to admit, I've really enjoyed our man version of Nancy Drew, hiding in the daylight, lurking in the dark. His facial expressions during the many revelations he's seen have been priceless, particularly "Brainy guy that Orlando is, he slowly counts to three on his fingers". Too funny!
What wasn't funny was his panic stricken attack overhearing Ana and Julieta's conversation, nor his kissing or hitting of Maribel (both equally reprehensible).
I'm trying to see something redeemable about Inaki. I keep seeing his tears over his mother's abandonment and although he is a stone cold killer (of his brother no less), I admit to having a soft spot. I swear that last night's scenes of him in his jockeys had absolutely nothing to do with it! I am sad that Ana Let is leading him down another dark path and have no doubt he will be the carnage left behind at the end.
Jarifa and TOA, thank you for filling in so many details.
While I have sympathy for a murderer, I have no good feelings toward Mariano. His past behavior, including Gina, his cheating on Jennifer and many other ill acts have soured me irreparably. And of course, there is his relationship with Ana Let "Uh, did he ever look in a mirror at him with Ana Lericia crawling all over him? Now THAT is an aberration!" Exactly Jarifa!
UA, you are right in that Inaki does know Ana Lu. I can't believe he is actually going to go along with Ana Let but...
daisy, I was shocked that Soledad did seem to be making headway with Mariano....
I thoroughly enjoyed the episode.
Julie, thank you, thank you!
Diana
Is Ram an alien? In a city where the others are killing/planning on killing/banging siblings, lying, scheming, have horrible secrets, hate parents, hate/disown offspring, steal/embezzle, kidnap babies, have incestuous urges, extorting parents, drooling over great grandchildren-aged love prospects, and having split personalities, Rambo appears to be from a different species.
I was highly amused by Oily counting to three on his hand, and extremely disgusted by him abusing Maribel. Thank you, Ramiro, for giving him a taste of his own medicine.
However, we've always known that Ramiro is horrible at explaining things. Remember him explaining AnaLet's one kiss to Marcelo like it was a full-blown affair. At least Mariano eventually gave him the opportunity to explain it all. I would like to thank the writers for showing they are capable of logical thinking by having Mariano give all our arguments for why keeping the secret is ridiculous. Again, just what do Santi and Ram expect will change in six months, when it will magically become the perfect time to reveal the truth to AnaLu and the rest of the family?
In any case, since AnaLu only overheard that Mariano is her father's brother, they can still keep the rest of the secrets under wraps for now. At least he'll now get the chance to speak to her.
Yes, Vivi, I fear that we are only half-way there with Mariano's revelation to AnaLu. I felt, btw, like the encounter between Mariano and Soledad with the battle of two of the densest people alive. She is the worst - beyond redemption (at least in real life!) but he is also a problem (though quick a looker, as Suzie observed). He has supervised the rearing of the two Ana's that produced one sociopath and another young woman who has been constantly shamed for a disability. His declaration that being raised by blood relatives is better (not sure of his wording) showed his class prejudices and how out-to-lunch this guy has been during the rearing of the two Ana's. AnaLu is the mentally healthiest of the three.
Evaristo seems not long for this world. Chana's role in this continuing job as puppet-master may be interesting.
I guess that Julieta will continue to try to save Inaki from AnaLe. I will be rooting for her. I hate to see him drawn into her sick games. The Julieta and Nerina reconciliations with their children (or not!) have to be revolve along with everything else in however many episodes remain. I think I real 120 on the Univision website and that would make sense in terms of the announcement of Ultimas Semanas that has been flashing for the last week.
The whole notion that a child is better off with blood relations pervades both fiction and reality regardless of social class. Mariano is definitely classist but here he is also projecting his and Ernestina's own pain at the 20 years of thinking that Ana Lucia was dead. Not a speck of gratitude, either, that Soledad saved Ana Lucia's life. Ana Lucia is likely to call him out on that once she gets over the shock of the revelation that Soledad isn't her birth mother. I'm betting also that she will be the one to defend SoleBad and prevent her from getting arrested long enough for Ernestina to find out that she is her missing half-sister and therefore the triplets' great-aunt. A blood relation after all.
Mati, I think you're right as to what Ana MeMeME has in mind. There are several variables that can screw up this plan, including the risk that Inaki cares enough about Ana Lucia to prevent it, the possibility that Isidro could die of natural causes before he could kill Ana Lucia (whom we know isn't a virgin), and the possibility that either SantMarc or Ramiro will ride to the rescue just in time (which could kill Ana MeMeME). If there are only 22 episodes left there's just enough time for that to play out.
Santi has 6 months to live if he doesn't have his tumor removed. I wonder if that has anything to do with it?
Also, I am wondering about the business Ram, Santi and taxista guy are starting if Santi is going to die in 6 months...
Ramiro knows that Ana MeMeME is a monster without even knowing that she has actually committed murder. She's a monster of selfishness, like Ellen in Leave Her to Heaven. If would be interesting if she ends up the same way.
I can feel the nerfazos coming, but I'm going to take up for Mariano a bit. He's a hypocrite on cheating and has been a clueless surrogate dad to both AnaLe and AnaLaura, but I loved that he stuck it to Ramiro and Soledad. He wouldn't let himself be blackmailed by Ramiro and talked loud enough to Soledad for AnaLe to overhear and get this story moving. And those eyes when he saw his long-lost niece. Sure, in real life AnaLe sitting on his lap would send off alarms in any sane person's head, but this is TN land and he's simply dopey to her incestuous intent.
Soledad, you don't get to play "Finders Keepers, Losers Wheepers" with human beings. No matter how well you loved and raised your kidnappee, you had no right. If you'd turn the kid in, abuela would've loved you for it and made you a godmama to the family.
Yay, Oily beat down and stuffed in a trunk. Kudos to Ramiro.
I admit I was sleepy when I watched but I thought I caught a look on Iñaki's face like he was realizing AnaLe is nuts and killing her sister is going to far. I don't think he'll do it.
No matter what Mariano wants to do about SoleBad, I think Ana Lucia will end up having the last word with the full support of Ernestina and Ana Laura.
I just have the feeling that Mariano will tell AnaLu only part of the story now. He is her father's brother and that is all she needs to know at the moment. This will give him a chance to get to know her and try to lessen the danger to all. He knows it's a major problem that SantiMarc has been involved with both sisters.
On the other hand, I enjoy that there are some actual surprises in this novela so I will be delighted if things go another way.
Looks like I missed a HUGE big moment with AnaLu meeting Mariano. I had really wanted to recap that! Bummer. :-( I'm going to try to watch this on Hulu, because I want to see Ramiro stuff Oilando in the trunk.
So Evaristo is suddenly in the hospital? Did that happen recently and I missed it somehow?
I don't think Inaki will kill AnaLu or participate in a plan to get her killed. He might go along with a plan to a certain point, but I think he will find a way to screw it up for AnaLet. I don't think he's irredeemable.
Vivi, you're right that Ramiro has screwed up his storytelling before. I forgot about the Marcelo kiss story. I just couldn't believe how badly he handled those revelations with Mariano.
And I ask again, what does Ramiro think will be different six months from now, that it will then be safe to introduce AnaLu to the family? Is there some weird statute of limitations that we don't know about? The only possible difference is that maybe he'll finally be tired of keeping the secret.
Niecie, I appreciate your defense of Mariano and I admit that I'd probably like him better if I'd heard him using our brilliant arguments against Soledad last night. And in fact, I was impressed that he wasn't bothered by Ramiro's threats.
Mati, you are right about the surprises in this novela. I wish they were a little more frequent, but they have been very satisfying.
Sole's excuses sounded awful to her own ears. I don't think she even believes in her selfish choices anymore. When Mariano lit eyes on AnaLu it was magic. Finally, she meets a member of her family.
AnaLet couldn't stop herself last night from telling Inaki everything. He may like bad girls but not this bad. You could see at the end he was uncomfortable. He has met AnaLu and AnaLaura so he knows they are sweet girls. Even though he killed Daniel, I can't see him helping AnaLet with anything but fooling Isidro.
Sole keeps saying she saved AnaLu's life but did she really? It looked to me that AnaLu could have pulled herself out of the water, where Sole did. And then she would have probably wandered until someone normal found her and turned her into the police. She would have then be reunited with her family.
Mariano is going to eat some of his words when he finds out Sole has some of the "sangre" he was talking about. I still hope Sole goes to jail but that is wishful thinking. She is a completely selfish woman.
If he were and had something on Mariano, he would have done something about it long before this.
It would not surprise me if Ana MeMeME was Gina's murderer.
Mariano will turn out to be a true idiot if he refuses to believe -- in the face of evidence on paper or in pixels -- that Ana MeMeME is a selfish monster with perverted intent toward him.
"POW!!! You know, Mariano might be a self-absorbed, hypocritical, womanizing... wait, where was I going with this?"
I wonder what is in store next for us with TioM's explanation to Ana Lucia. I am getting annoyed at how everyone is buying into this idea of let's not tell her and wait - maybe the truth will feel better after a while.
I wouldn't be surprised either if AnaLet is Gina's murderer but I don't think she did it. I think Ram's father did it. Don't ask me why but that's my hunch.
I think Mariano won't realize AnaLet's craziness until the very end, with the rest of the family.
I'm worried that the rest of the family won't meet AnaLucia until AnaLet has gotten herself killed or in jail. Thus one sister replacing another. I really want to see the dynamic of all 3 in the house at the same time.
I'm glad to see the plot finally moving along. Now Ana Lu just needs to find out that the person she thinks is her father doesn't exist and that her real father is dead but does not have any connection with Soledad.
I got a kick out of the scene between Ana Let and Julieta. Ana Let can be entertaining without meaning to be. I don't think Julieta will ever win over her son(s).
I don't know if I missed something but Isidro's creepy behavior seems to be coming out of left field to me. I kinda hope he's killed off or something.
What I don't remember is whether Soledad and Chana told Ana Lucía about Isidro's colossal nerve. Maybe Ana Lucia still sees him as a kindly elderly gent.
I didn't think AnaLet killed Gina until last week when she was smearing her makeup and talking to her fist. Maybe she dissociated when she killed Gina. Would that be a first for a TN, to have two different characters with multiple personalities?
It was rather sickening to hear her tell Llora just that...she hates anyone that takes HER family members and makes them not give their most love and attention to her. At that moment I wish Llora had the good sense, and spine, to do more than wipe away a tear and go tell her Tio and Abue that there is something seriously wrong with AnaLoon and what she said. They don't believe her, on them, but at least she would share. Finding out she was blamed for the accident in their eyes all these years by her selfish sister...she owes her Nada.
Reading everyone's comments...yeah, Finale will be six months down the road and it all come to a big explosion and reveals. I really don't want to be watching Isi smarming all over AnaLoon for the majority of these next episodes though.
Gonna sit at the Inaki table until he disappoints me to crawl away.
I am confused . Do we know for sure that INaki killed his brother? Could it have been someone else , and the writers are misleading us?
I missed the show, RAm beating Orlando, and Inaki in his jockeys. Que lastima.
I am agreeing with you about when the light bulb moment about Ana MeMeME will hit Mariano. He will feel like a prize idiot when that happens. Good.
I am also concerned about your last point, but I'm also sure that there will not be a lot of time with all three triplets under Ernestina's roof.
As to Isidro, I also started out thinking that he was pursuing SoleBad, but when he revealed that it was Ana Lucia who interested him I almost lost my lunch. In a later conversation with another man (I forgot whom) he said things that indicated he intended to control her and that his age was an advantage toward that end. He can't die painfully enough to please me.
Given how wretched you were feeling, I'm amazed at how well you wrote your recap. So many funny lines for a lady who was miserable!
The phone at the office is ringing, ringing, ringing as AnaLet asks, "Is there anything else you'd like to blame me for?" (She's gone from angry, to sad, to huffy within five minutes. I'm dizzy.)
And:
Orlando slowly counts to three on his fingers. (Whew--he made it! For a moment there I wassn't sure he would.)
and my fave:
wait, where was I going with this?
Haven't seen this yet, but I also thoroughly enjoyed TOA and Jarifa's addition. "Beating him like a rented mule" has a certain ring to it I must say.
Saving this episode for dinner time but sounds like it was a doozy!
Julie, I'm trusting your stomach troubles are behind you now and better times are coming. But amazing amazing recap under the circumstances. Kudos to you kid.
As for Isidro, he’s just a dirty old man now, isn’t he? When watching the opening episode on Hulu the other day, I noticed that Soledad was doing her best to get rid of him and locking up and saying goodbye to him so he couldn’t impose himself anymore. I was just so grossed out by him. Yuck!
Can’t wait for tonight to see what else Mariano says as he meets Ana Lu for the first time face to face. Loved the line she had, “Are you my father’s brother?” Why yes, he sure is her father’s brother!
Which is why I was able to recap the first half of the episode without any trouble except for my usual impatience for someone to throw a punch or take their shirt off or something. Then, bam, the party's over and I missed all the fun stuff. But I'm recovering now.
Urban, this isn't the first time you've mentioned "The Enemy Within" in regard to SantiMarc. It's funny, but with AnaLu and AnaLaura I think of "Mirror, Mirror." Right down to the costumes. Our-universe Uhura wears a flattering but decent uniform. Mirror-universe Uhura wears a midriff-baring outfit and a knife (or in AnaLet's case, a pointy ring). The mirror-universe crew were incapable of passing themselves off as our regular-universe people - just as AnaLet can only keep up her charade for so long. Remember how quickly she folded when she was posing as AnaLaura with Valentin?
So if Carvivlie's prediction comes true, AnaLu will effectively swap places with her evil mirror double AnaLet. If only we had a bearded evil Spock to round out the picture.
I have no doubt that soon Isidro will run into Ana Lucia and say something about the clothes, makeup, and insinuations. She will not know what he is talking about, he will get nasty, and there could be violence that ends badly.
In defense of Mariano, he's been told the niece he thought was dead for 20 years is actually alive and in town, he sees her with his own blue eyes, learns she is having an affair with her brother in law and the woman who kept her away from the family for those 20 years is all "What about meeeee? What about MY pain? Don't take her away from MEEEE!!"
The fact remains, Soledad found a child, did not try to return her to her family and kept her KNOWING that her birth family was looking for her. Ana Lucia was prevented from having the best education and growing up in the privilege that is her birth right, because Soledad found a child and decided to keep her. Soledad had to have known Ana Lucia's birth family had some means because of the gold bracelet AnaLu had on. No poor family could've afforded that.
Whether Ana Lucia is the most mentally healthy of the triplets because she WASN'T raised by Ernestina & Mariano is besides the point. Ana Lucia's place was with her grandmother, uncle & sisters. They're giving Soledad the easy out by having her be Erni's lost long sister.
And, for all we know, Ana Laura AND Ana Leticia might've been more mentally healthy by having Ana Lucia there with them. Ana Lucia wouldn't have let Ana Leticia bully Ana Laura or felt sorry for Ana Laura's leg loss, which would've given Ana Laura some much needed confidence.
Ana Lucia also would've pushed back on Ana Leticia and forced Ana Leticia to share the spotlight, which would've taken Ana Leticia's narcissism down a peg or two, which would've been good for Ana Leticia.
Inaki / Triplets / Daniel
In defense of Inaki, he didn't know Daniel was his brother. He just knew he didn't like Daniel and Daniel didn't like him. Daniel disrespected him & wasn't that nice of a person. In contrast, Inaki has met both Ana Lucia and Ana Laura & knows they are nice people. He's going to feel more bad about doing something bad to Ana Lucia & Ana Laura than he would Daniel, whom he didn't like anyway whether he was his brother or not.
Isidro / Ana Lucia / Ana Leticia
Ana Lucia already knows Isidro is a perv and has told Soledad & Chana that he is yuk, so when Ana Lucia either rejects him (after Ana Leticia has led him on) or he finds out Ana Lucia isn't pure (maybe he sees AnaLu kissing on Santiago etc) he will go on the rampage and try to rape/kill Ana Lucia.
Ramiro / Oilando
Maribel told Ramiro that Oilando is the one who killed Daniel so if he's not driving Oilando straight to the police station, I just don't know what to think anymore.
In fact, Soledad definitely knew that AnaLu's birth family had means, because after the accident there were stories about the family in the newspaper, which Soledad cut out and kept for all these years. She's known all about this prominent family, all along.
Nothing stops a narcissist. Ana MeMeME was already one at the age of 5. This is a standard fiction trope about identicals having vastly different personalities despite being raised together. Ana Lucia's presence would do nothing to quash the building narcissism in Ana MeMeME, but might have helped Ana Laura. She'd be pulling out photos of famous women with prostheses, talking about their achievements, and encouraging Ana Laura.
Best of all, AnaLu could slap her once in a while. In TNs, everybody gets slapped. AnaLet should not be excused!
There are people who are severely damaged, usually by parents, (Inaki) and it is up to them to fix it when they grow up. Other people are downright evil, through no identifiable fault of anyone involved. (AnaLetMe(burninhell)) These people can not be helped or saved. There is no hope or turning back for them. Read M Scot Peck's book "People of the Lie". He also wrote "The Road Less Traveled". The only end for this type person is complete isolation from others to protect society from them, or just kill them.
I think he will be pivotal on how AnaLoon is taken down. Maybe the anti-hero--the bad guy who does one final good thing at the end before he gets his anvil.
Faves:
Whew - he made it! For a moment there, I wasn't sure he would.
No shit, Sherlock!
Mariano might be a self-absorbed, hypocritical, womanizing... wait, where was I going with this?
Although I'd say it's also pretty bad to boink your girlfriend on her wedding day, and then hide in her closet
Back to Mariano and the world's worst storyteller
TOA How are you not a recapper? That was an awesome job! Hilarious storytelling!
Jarifa You did a fantastic job too, and it's no wonder b/c you ARE a recapper :P
Seems like Chana cares about Ev more than she's letting on. I wonder if she saw his butt in that backless gown he was wearing. That's the kind of trust of a man who's got nothing to lose.
When AnaLet said she plans to use Isidro to have him take AnaLu away, I was surprised I predicted yet another one right. She kept going back & forth b/w a kidnapping, & a killing. Maybe she'll have him do both. Her ultimate goal is to have her gone in either case.
Orlandont's punch was el colmo for me, I had it w/ this slimey jerk! Maybe it's b/c I have so many (never uploaded) screenshots of him and Funky getting grabsy w/ some of the women, that this was the grease topping on this cakey mess of a TN.
I saw TioM tell AnaLu that yes, he's her father's bro and I could see her mistaking him for the abandoned father that Souless refuses to speak of. I went to sleep right after & had a dream that my father came home, and apologized for lying all these yrs about his death. We took him back happily, but alas twas just a dream. Stupid telenovelas messing w/ my subconscious! Teehee.
On to the comments....
Leticia Yea, her chin was bloody. But it didn't need blood at all, b/c I immediately had a FIT when he punched her. It was so hard, she flew onto the couch like a Mortal Kombat character. I hope Ram takes him to sleep w/ the fishes that BLIMEY bastard!
Daisy He did kill Daniel, but it was a crime of passion. He's not a murderer, in the sense that he's a serial killing machine. He did it out of blind anger, and he displayed immense guilt from it. Only reason I'm still at his table.
Diana I've got a soft spot for Inaki too, and I do not attempt to feign that his tightly clad buttocks have their power over me.
Vivi Ram's explaining things might have to do w/ his time in London. People there are ridiculously polite, apologetic, and tactfully diplomatic. He seems to be restraining himself from revealing too much, which leads him to speak in jigsaw & stammer out partial info. And this guy wants to work in information acquisition and detail?
TravelingLady It's got nothing to do w/ class. Put yourself in his shoes. Imagine someone kidnapping your child. Now imagine that child being raised alone w/o her triplet sisters. It's one thing to separate a daughter, or a sibling, but it's a whole other ballgame when you separate twins. There's a bond, or call of the blood that sits b/w families. But there's an even weirder connection b/w twins. She was raised in a manipulative and abusive (yes, I didn't forget the slap, or the trap) environment. But even w/ all the love Sole claims to have given, Erne gives an UNCONDITIONAL love to her granddaughters. Think about that, she doesn't manipulate or scold them AND she gives love to the likes of AnaLet! No way, was AnaLu in a better position w/ her kidnapper. She may have been loved & protected, but she wasn't loved BETTER or any MORE protected than w/ her original family. You just can't convince me after we've seen the parental comparison of the 2 families.
Niecie Agree w/ todo. AnaLu made a joke about him going after her to Chana & Sole. She said she'd need to study nursing since she'll have to take care of her future old man lol. Funny scene.
Julie No it was just a checkup, Chana's the one pushing him to get well. I agree that Inaki might be the one who exposes AnaLet since he knows so much of her secrets. It will lead to his downfall, but it'll help redeem him. He's got a heart, he's not a true villain in the traditional sense. I wonder if it would be a twist, that AnaLu would end up killing AnaLet to take her place since Santi refuses to take her back, & her family may not accept her as his amante. The truth about her whole life being a lie may cause her to crack & push her over the edge. Maybe TioM should keep quiet for a bit...
Carvivlie Whether or not she saved her, for certain she helped her recover from injury. Still, here was no need to keep her after that. Daniel was more than a selfish jerk. he was an accomplice to (attempted) murder. He was willing to prove to AnaLet that he'd do anything to prove his value to her. Compare that to Inaki's crime of passion, who blinded by his anger did something he has been shown to feel regret about. Daniel didn't regret anything, his murder act had premeditated & criminal intent all over it. Inaki also visited Daniel's panteón, crying in grief and guilt. Daniel hadn't visited Marc's grave in the years he was gone. The indifference here really comes down to your perspective. Inaki wasn't brushing it off, b/c he cried when she first brought it up that she knew he killed his brother, so much so that she got turned off by him. So he didn't sound indifferent, he sounded unsure of himself (to my ears).
Anon207 He might actually take him to Santi & Curvas. They might get him to fess up to everything. This might lead to an all-out battle against Ev. Maybe even getting Oily to work for them as a double agent (doubt it, they don't trust him).
Anon3:02 Pictures, or it never happened. Cough em up.
Jarifa Omg, I hope not. I'll have to bleach my eyes if they show that! But they do have a sweet companionship :)
