Thanks for the support regarding my recapping efforts. And thanks for filling in the blanks I missed as I was watching and typing. I'll have to fine tune my process as I see I missed a few grammar things... and allowed spell check to chose the wrong word for me....a couple of times....as in commiserate vs commemorate.

So Richard is the name of the FBI guy? Bummer if he's crooked but I find it hard to believe that he's been watching Sofia for 10 years and has done nothing to harm her in all that time. Unless after the last botched murder attempt, he was told to neutralize her only if she points a finger at Cummings or Ernie. But I guess we will see as this one unfolds.

I couldn't agree with you more about Richard. I want him to end up with Sophia, and Steve to end up with Eliza.

I think your recap was outstanding!! Don't be worried. I appreciate you stepping in, as we all know how much dedication it takes to turn out a recap, not to mention the record time in which you posted your's.

Al Otro Lado del Muro - Capítulo 22 Parte 1 de 3

We again hear the nurse tell Jennifer that she thought the woman who came with Charlie's father yesterday was Charlie's mother. Jennifer asks what the woman looked like. All the nurse can recall is that she was Mexican. And she had a child with her, a boy. Later, Jennifer calls her housekeeper, who tells her that there was a boy with Max yesterday, the son of the woman who made the pastries for the party. "You may think I'm crazy," she says to Jennifer, "but I swear I heard the boy call Max "Papa."

At school, Alondra gets more harassment from Nasty Girl and her friends. Nasty Girl's boyfriend tells her that the tombstone in the photo is that of Sofía Villavicencio, and that she was Alondra's mother. Alondra later sees "Sofía Killer Queen" written in large white letters on her school locker.

Eliza worries about Tomás, who is very bitter about his father. Eliza says that the streets are full of perils, like drugs and gangs. Andrés assures her that Tomás is a good boy, that she raised him well, and that he's not going to get involved in such stuff.

Steve keeps thinking about Eliza. He takes out the envelope that Max had asked him to give to Eliza and notes the address. He calls the bakery and asks to speak to Eliza, but the call is interrupted by a brick thrown through the bakery's window. Tomás retrieves the brick, which is wrapped in a note that says "The next time will be bullet holes, sunshine" ['sunshine' is what the gang leader calls Tomás]. I think only Tomás sees the note. Eliza and Andrés are puzzled about the broken window. Even gang members have respected the bakery. Andrés says he has the feeling that it's revenge, but revenge for what? Eliza looks at Tomás and asks him whether he's been involved in anything that might explain this. No, he says, and hurries off to school.

Santiago recommends that they call the police about the brick thrown through the window. Andrés reminds him that Raquel (Santiago's wife) and Eliza are in the US illegally, and we don't want to call La Migra's attention to them.

Sofía is in a car taking photos of the woman, her daughter, and the man the woman works for, "Mr. Smith." She then gets out of the car and approaches the man, whom she addresses as "Mr. Murray" (the name under which he committed pederasty in another state). She claims a friend told her he was interested in "special merchandise" and shows him photos of young girls. He gets angry and is about to strike Sofía when Joel comes along and hits him. Smith/Murray tells Joel that Sofía is the guilty one, she was trying to sell him girls, and he's going to call the police. "Yes, go ahead," says Joel, "and call the FBI and Interpol." I assume the guy does nothing.

Steve, wearing a suit, comes to the bakery to see Eliza. She at first says, "Can I help you with something?" and then..."Steve? Are you Steve from the hospital?" It's a rather touching scene. He explains how much he has thought about her and dreamed about her. He invites her to dinner, and when she says that she wants to eat with her children, he invites her to have coffee with him the next day. She accepts.

Lado - Cap. 22 Parte 2 de 3

Joel comes to see Sofía. He says, "I know I've done things that have hurt you a lot, both of us have done things that have hurt the other person a lot. If we're going to work together, this has got to change. I've come to propose a truce" (tregua). But inevitably the discussion comes back to Sofía as the assassin of his sister and her baby-to-be. He tells Sofía that she broke his heart. The three days they spent together were the most intense in his life. "I loved you deeply," he says. I was expecting Sofía to tell him that she did NOT kill his sister, and to explain why she confessed, but she doesn't. Joel leaves. Later, he calls Patrick and tells him he's getting closer to Sofía, and eventually she'll fall.

Tomás comes to see the gang leader, telling him not to take things out on his mother. The gang leader tells him he knows what he has to do to make that happen. "I want you to be my delivery boy in Beverly Hills." Tomás won't have trouble because he has a preppy (fresa) look. The gang leader hands him a package to deliver that evening.

Julian and Paula are in Los Angeles. He wishes he were somewhere else, since LA was where Sofía was caught and sentenced to death. He also asks about Alondra. Paula tells him she's at school in Switzerland. Paula urges Julian to forget about the past and focus on the present. She gives him a meaningful look and tells him she's going to bathe. A few minutes later, Julian watches her in the shower. She's well aware that he's doing so. Soon, they're passionately kissing.

Andrés gets a call from Santiago. Raquel has gone into labor. A delighted Andrés tells Eliza and then leaves to be with Santiago and Raquel.

No sooner does Andrés leave than Max comes to see Eliza. She wants him to leave. He again tells her that she's the woman of his life and he wants to be a father to his children. As they're talking, Jennifer drives up and sees them talk, and eventually kiss. Andrés comes back to get his car keys, thinks he sees Max force Eliza to kiss him, and goes after Max. They exchange blows before Eliza gets between them. Max leaves. Eliza tells Andrés that she doesn't want him to get involved in her problems with Max. She can deal with him herself. Andrés senses that he has jumped to the wrong conclusion about Eliza's feelings for him.

Tomás delivers the package to a guy in Beverly Hills who greets him with "God, you're pretty!" He tells Tomás to wait while he gets the money. Tomás hears a woman singing and follows the music downstairs. An attractive young woman is performing with a mike. Tomás is clearly interested. They meet, exchange names (hers is Frida), and then Mark (the gay guy) comes downstairs with the money. Tomás leaves.

Alondra calls the Mexican Consulate but a recording announces that the Consulate is currently closed. Since she feels anger at her father, I'm not sure why she's calling.

Julian comes into Paula's bedroom. He starts kissing her, but she tells him his technique needs improvement. It's boring and predictable. She tells him to go to the jacuzzi. She'll meet him there and teach him some new tricks for his repertoire.

Lado - Cap. 22 Parte 3 de 3

Karina comes to Eliza's bedroom and tells her she feels very confused about her father. She's angry and sad, but also relieved that he's alive. And she imagines hugging him. But how can she want to do this when he has behaved so badly toward them, she asks Eliza. "Believe me," Eliza responds, "I understand you."

The gang leader is delighted that Tomás had no difficulty delivering the package to Mark. Tomás informs the gang leader that Mark wants another package tomorrow. Gang leader tells Tomás that he will have to make several deliveries to settle Benny's debt. "See you tomorrow."

Jennifer confronts Max. He claims he was at the hospital, but she tells him she saw him and Eliza kissing. She's pretty hysterical, saying over and over again, "Do you think I'm an idiot?" Max tells her "I left the woman I love and my children. I did it for Charlie. Only for him."

Joel is in his house and hears a noise. He goes to investigate and sees Sofía on his bed. She says something about his wanting to hate her, but he can't. She then takes off her clothes. End of episode and end of my patience with her and Joel.

How come Eliza's is illegal and her kids are legal?

I can do without the school bullies, the gangbangers, Paula being a 'teacher' and a 'cougar', Max's wimpy character, and Joel with his revenge. Boy I sure thought Joel was being sincere when he talked to Sofia and looked at her so hungrily. I know I'm gullible.

I'm loving Majorie de Sousa!

O/T
I wonder how her 'plieto' with Julian Gill is going.??

More tomorrow.

LADO

Why is Alondra calling the Mexican Embassy? I agree with you, Juanita, I don't understand her call at all.

And we have another 'cougar' with the singer who appears, to me, to be years older than Tomás.

IMO this novela is veering away from the typical telenovela with a really bad antagonist and super goody two shoes protagonist. I guess one could say we have several antagonists and several protagonists.

The short, short synopsis said this novela is a juxtaposition between Sofia (rich girl) and Eliza (poor girl).

"LADO":

Victoria: We just witnessed Mrs. Robinson 3.0 with Paula having steamy escapades with Julian & OMG did we witness a lot of IT.

Juanita: I'm confused why did Alondra call the Mexican Consulate as well.

Deb: Racist Nasty Girl & her friends upping the ante even further. I wonder how long before it escalates to deadly results ?

HALIMACANDY: Eliza is STUPID & Max needs to just die.

Bella: Rodrigo has no idea that Jennifer is going to be vicious towards him. She's got something planned against him, Karina,Tomas, etc.,

Lado

I memntioned this before but Im guessing that despite Jens hatred of Max's other kids....they will come in handy for some type of medical procedure. I believe that even more so since the docs are now exploring experimental procedures.

"LADO":

Nett: The big question is will Jennifer block that from happening ? I need to know MORE of her backstory.

Five-Star Recap, Juanita!! Wish I knew how to make five stars appear in my comment.

I’m with you all the way about Joel and Sofía apparently jumping into bed with each other. And I could slap Joel upside the head. He makes this impassioned speech to her about how much she meant to him, and then he calls Patrick to say he’s getting closer to her. Which sorta means he said the whole thing to manipulate her.

We got to see, I think, a PSA about undocumented persons fearing to call the police (from Andrés). Maybe the writers are in Miami. California’s sanctuary state provisions protect persons reporting crimes from being turned over to ICE.

I was glad Max told Jennifer to her face that her manipulation had caused him to lose the woman he loved and his other two children. And the only reason he did it was for Max.

I hope you’re right, Juanita, about Devil saying Tomás had to make a few more deliveries to square things. I think he plans to use him forever. I posted on another blog yesterday, before seeing the episode, that I thought Devil’s interest in Tomás had to do with him looking like a good kid, lacking gang tats, and thus flying under the radar. [Novelera gives herself a cyber pat on the back for prescience.]

Did Steve say something to Eliza about their having dinner being OK with her husband? I know Max ranted about her being with “that guy” but I don’t remember anything about marriage.

Does Julián know about Ernesto and Paula either having been in the past or still being lovers? In that case his eagerness to jump her bones goes into “ick factor” territory.

And, all these years of telenovela watching and experiencing delayed gratification, why am I STILL surprised when a character doesn’t open his or her mouth and say the logical thing? In this case it should be so obvious that she should tell Joel that Paula threatened her with having Alondra sold to pederasts and that’s why she confessed to murder. But, no.

Also, I liked the fact that Tomás sort of accepted the gay guy’s obvious interest in his appearance. It’s a known statistical fact that younger people are mostly not very put off by same-sex relationships when they themselves are only attracted to the opposite sex. They’re mostly in favor of gay marriage also.

Lado

thank you so much for the recap Juanita! I do so appreciate the time you put into these to get the details right.

I know they are using the term pederast, but when I looked that up,

"sexual relations between two males, especially when one of them is a minor."

"A word derived from the combination of pais (greek for boy) and erastis (Greek for lover; often times sexual). Used incorrectly in the media as another word for pedophilia."

I'm thankful Julian spared us any clothes sniffing, I kind of liked the part where Paula pointed out that when it comes to being a worldly person, Julian is pretty worthless.

I think Steve was referring to Eliza's husband Andres (who seems to have taken on that role) but she set him straight, but he also was not truthful about how he located her or any mention of Max.

the english caps are calling the gang the devils and I think I have heard the leader called 66 a couple of times.

Joel and Sofia, wow, they are just playing into each others game, he catches her selling young girls and she falls for his lie, (the worst kind, one that is almost true), and temps him to fall back into her world (all the while they are both trapped in the world of a gran amor), with Patrick and Richard as their respective managers.

and their investigation of slimy Irv, how is that going?

"LADO":

Deb: Paula sure knows when to use her beautiful goods: knocking up both Ernesto & Julian.... GROSS!

I'm going to ROFLOL if she ends up PREGGERS.

"LADO":

Deb: I do NOT see the investigation against Slimy United States Senator Irving Cummings (R-TX) lasting long either.

Lado

Deb, I think Joel and Sofía have only just begun working together with Richard, maybe a day or so. So there might not be much progress in bringing down Senator Slimy yet. But, IIRC, Richard and Sofía argued because she wanted to save the little girls, pulling them out of the hands of the sexual predators. Richard is more cool-headed about it, while Sofía is acting from her heart. I suppose he thinks that, if the perverts actually take one of the girls, he can have clues that lead back to Slimy. Richard chewed her out already for the little girl she saved by bashing the pervert with a baseball bat and calling 911.

What I'm trying to say is that implicating Slimy will take time. He's had decades to cover his trail.

Lado

Deb, thanks for the correct definition of a pederast. I kind of knew that it was man on boy stuff, but I thought maybe the word had crossed over in more recent times and included any kind of child molestation.

Lado

Muchísimas gracias, novelera, for your 5-star comments!

Yes, I too was really ticked off at Joel for seeming to be honest with Sofía about his feelings, only to call Patrick and make it seem that that was just part of his strategy for taking her down.

Good point about California's being a sanctuary state, making indocumentados in that state (like the characters in this novela) a bit less vulnerable than those living elsewhere. I wonder whether the writers were aware of that. Possibly not.

Devil says that Tomás will have to do "varias entregas como esta" in order to pay off Benny's debt. Varias can mean different things, but I assumed here it meant "several."

Steve did say something like "if it's OK with your husband" and I think nodded in Andrés' direction. Seems reasonable for him to assume that Andrés is her husband. Of course, Eliza quickly sets him straight--"I'm not married."

I think Julian is aware that Paula and his father have been and perhaps still are lovers. But I don't think that his eagerness to do likewise adds to the "ick" factor. What does add to the ick factor, at least for me, is Paula's behavior with Julian: her taking the initiative, and her sleeping with the son after sleeping with the father. Of course, for both Julian and Paula, it's a way of getting back at Ernesto. Paula certainly feels inadequately appreciated by Ernesto, and probably sex with him is no longer exciting.

Lado

Many thanks, deb, for your appreciative remark and your great comments. I'm especially grateful for your distinguishing pederast from pedophile. I just grabbed whatever was on the screen, but from now on, I'll use "pedophile," which is really the term I'm more familiar with. I'm especially glad you called attention to this, since I think it's highly likely that we'll all have more opportunity to use the word before the novela ends.

I agree that the gang is called The Devils. I had no idea what the leader's name is, which is why I wrote "gang leader" three times in one short paragraph. I'll listen more carefully in the episodes to come to see whether you're right about his being called 66. (I'm surprised it's not 666 :-) )

Juanita, thank you for the great recap.
I finally watched the latest installment and I am not happy, to say the least.
I keep hoping against hope that the last minute of the episode is a dream sequence, because if not, than I will lose all my respect for Sophia! She should hate Joel with a vengeance for not believing in her, for abandoning her child when she begged him to protect her and most of all for being a dim-witted incompetent moron that basically was the reason for her incarceration for 8 years.
Joel is just the absolutely worst and I have to fight an instinct to fast forward every time he opens his mouth and spews his ridiculous accusations against Sophia.
I pray to the telenovela gods that he is hallucinating Sophia and that in the next episode we will find out that he was struck with a deadly illness that renders him unconscious for the rest of the telenovela and he only recovers in the last 5 minutes of the last episode and picks up a newspaper with a headline "International drug trafficking network dismantled" and a picture of a happy Sophia kissing the FBI guy.

Irene

As far as Eliza is concerned, I was mightily disappointed with that kiss. It was so against character for her. This creep cheated on her, abandoned her and her children and made her suffer misery and fear of deportation for 10 years! The only physical contact that someone like that would get from me in such a situation would be a resounding slap.

Irene

Lado

Irene, thanks very much for your appreciative remark and your wonderful comments. I especially LOVED your prayer to the telenovela gods! If only they listened to us. :-)

Lado:

In my case, unfortunately, telenovela gods have mostly forsaken me, so I suppose we are stuck with this poor excuse of a galan until the bitter end.

Irene

ENEMIGO #120-123

THIS week Puma got an out of jail for a hot minute to help Alexandro contact her old gang and establish an alibi for tilapia

White she was out on the town in Mexico smoking weed, eating everything that wasn’t tied down or trying to get laid…
They hooked up with dealers to help them confirm a cover story for tilapia.
Except one agent didn’t get the football cover correct so he is still under suspicion

Roxie and ochun survived a beat down from Zoraida and her girls... Roxy deicide to have a conjugal visit with MADRE /guillotine... to save her neck and she send tilapia to make the arrangement

Roxie lays it on him and she drugs him, and he spills his guts and passes out. Confessing he is chicken hawk... sex with little girls... a pedophile yuck!!! The pig….

The cumplas sent a fall guy to pull Alexandro in to a set up and they sacrifice one to gain his confidence...

Zoraida offer Puma half the dope zone to solicit her help in killing /Roxy……Puma tells tells her abt it and recommends she kills Cubana/ochun to maintain control and ochun also talks too much…

The football game is one immates vs. guards….

The cop that was promoted thought this up… good plan…

Madre wakes up thinking he tore that stuff up and see Roxy's beat up bruised body and have a conniption!!

Lado

I also loved your beseeching telenovela gods in your comment, Irene. Yep, they are deaf to our pleas! Joel would be perfect in a coma.

Also, another rant. I know I'm completely outdated in every respect, but I like galanes clean shaven or with a nice beard. Now it appears that every actor, whether in telenovelas, or TV shows in English, has that scruffy, unshaven look. The internet tells me it's called "designer stubble". Gah! They must all be celibate because that stubble would cause a woman's face to be rubbed raw during "close contact".

Lado

I hate Joel....

Not Max!! no no..eliza please keep your drawers on, for goodness sakes..

Paula and Julien why not she trades in young flesh for a living....

Tomas has to hold it down, but I would have thrown benny to the wolves..

Jennifer is nuts...

English newspapers called Oscar Wilde an Pederast...[ older man bugger young boy

Sofia is the long suffering mother but her confession to child traffikker puts a stain that only an ANGEL FROM HEAVEN can remove!!

.....that label is going to destroy Alondra... or set her spin out of control... Ernesto may have a opening here to reclaim her if she crashes and burns...

Lado

Nett and Juanita, thanks for your recaps!

I guess we'll now see what type of man Steve is. He's fond of Eliza but he didn't admit how he knew where to find her. He also knows Max wants her back and that Jennifer despises her. Guess we'll see if he leaves Max's check. And poor Andres, out of nowhere appeared two men from Eliza's past vying for her attention.

Impulsive Joel now has to watch inexperienced Sofia. Neither follows instructions and both will probably compromise the investigation.

Has Sofia even looked at the flash drive from the Senator's air vent? Perhaps revealing it also reveals who leaked the info and would blow her cover.

Spanish Student

Lado

Spanish Student, you raise an interesting question about the flash drive. Is it possible that Sofía still has it? Seems unlikely, since everything would have been taken away from her when she entered prison, and she never had an opportunity to get it back. So if she saw it, it would have to have been before she was imprisoned. And nothing she has said indicates that she did look at it then. But of course, on a telenovela, almost anything is possible. :-)

Lado

I'll do a recap tonight, later on.

Lado

Juanita, Sofia was arrested while running an errand so i figured the flash drive would have been left at Eliza's place. Maybe it was included with the package given to Pastrana. Either way so far the flash drive and knowledge of his hiding place for child pics (the vent) are the only evidence against the Senator.

Spanish Student

"LADO":

Spanish Student: Where is Pastrana ?

Bad News is that Eliza, Karina, Tomas are in danger of getting deported. You can bet Jennifer will be calling ICE soon.

Juanita: Now that Ernesto is the Mexican Consul General in Los Angeles, how long before his cronies (including Mrs. Robinson 3.0) figure out Eliza & her family are also in Los Angeles ?

Novelera: Richard & Patrick are dirty.

This comment has been removed by the author.

LADO

Novelera -- I could definitely do without the Cougar and little poor rich boy. He has to know that Ernesto slept with Paula sometime in the past decade.

Nett -- yep on the medical miracle. That's probably one of the reasons why the writers chose to portary Charlie as sick.

Great observations Deb.

Steve did think that Andrés was Eliza's husband. First he saw that they were together in the Bakery and Max had told him that much. Then he looked directly at Steve when he said that remark.

Richard does think he can get Cummings by bring forth the charges that Indiana had against him. But I'm not sure he will be able to do much given the cloak of secrecy.

Also doesn't Joel think that the trafficking was only Sofia's role and Ernesto knew nothing about it. Maybe Cummings will give Ernesto up once they bring Cummings in for jail.

LADO, CAP. 23, VIERNES, Parte 1 de 3

Whoa! That was on exciting episode. We got played! Sofía and Joel in his room was a dream.

Back to another knock-down-drag-out at Max and Jennifer’s house. [Jennifer is stamped out of the telenovela mold of obsessive “other” women who won’t give up the guy, even after a thousand rejections.] She threatens him with putting him in jail for bigamy. Then she tells him he can’t abandon Charlie. Max replies he’s not abandoning Charlie; he’s abandoning HER, and stop utilizing Charlie to keep him. She shuts up for once.

Ernesto arrives at a fabulous house in LA. Margarita is already there to keep house in the new place. We see a positive side to Ernesto. He’s kind to her and says she’ll get some people to help her soon. He asks her about Paula and Julián. Margarita says they must be in their bedrooms; she hasn’t seen them today. Ernesto shouts up the stairs for them. Paula pushes the kid out of bed and he runs onto one of the many patios.

Ernesto finds Paula in bed. She says there must not be good wi-fi in the house because her phone didn’t work [!!] Ernesto is on to her. He says she’s had “someone”.

Eliza and Andrés talk in the bakery. She senses he’s distant with her. He replies that he’s the one who has to “learn his place”. She goes on to give him the kiss of death. She tells him he’s her best friend.

Richard García is chewing out Sofía for approaching Jeff Murray. He tells her: “I had him! I was just in Indiana getting the proof I needed when I got your message.” He reminds her that’s he’s a cop, not she. Sofía tells him that he just doesn’t get it. She’s seen their eyes; they are blank and don’t even show pain. She tells him she’s lost everything; all she has left is helping these children.

At breakfast, when Ernesto asks where Julián was when he arrived, Julián replies that he was out running. Looking significantly at Paula, the kid says he likes LA. Ernesto catches Julían watching Paula leave the room. “You like that?” Julián: “Oh, no. She’s an older woman.”

Richard tells Sofía how incredible she is, how brave. And, what’s more, he’s in love with her. He says he’s struggled to be neutral. He knows that a relationship with her is contrary to his ethics. She’s under his protection. He knows he has to wait. But, when Cummings and Ernesto are in jail and you get your daughter back, nothing will stop him. [Sofía, you idiot, grab this guy right now!!!!!]

Max is visiting Charlie in the hospital. The boy is wise beyond his years and says he knows his parents are together for him. He says he overheard his mother say that the problem is Eliza.

LADO, CAP. 23, VIERNES, Parte 2 de 3

At the high school there’s more awful bullying of Alondra by some kinds who ought to be expelled. A Latina teacher runs them off and tries to help Alo, but she’s too resentful to listen.

In the next scene with Charlie and Max we realize that Max has told the boy the truth. Charlie is thrilled to have siblings, especially Rodrigo. Max tells him the older two are mellizos (twins). Charlie says he doesn’t want to die without seeing his brothers and sisters. [Novelera wipes her eyes discreetly.]

At school Tomás is telling Benny about the fancy house in Beverly Hills, enjoying the tale a bit too much. [I think this is a bad sign.]

Joel tells Patrick that Sofía told him she was trying to trap Murray and that’s why she was offering him girls. Patrick is impressed that Joel almost believes something she said. Joel has the idea to put someone undercover in a group that helps immigrants to see if Sofía is approaching these groups to get undocumented girls for the pedophiles.

Max parks his car and gets on the sidewalk in front of Tomás and Karina. They recognize him. He almost weeps at the sight of them. Tomás rejects him, saying his father died 10 years ago. Max says to them that what he did no tiene nombre (has no name; or is unforgiveable). After Tomás stalks off, Karina throws herself into her father’s arms.

Screechy Jennifer has come to see Steve about getting a lawyer to put Max in jail. Steve is disgusted with her. He says he’ll get the best lawyer with dientes afilados (really sharp teeth), but then she’ll be in the hospital alone with Charlie. Jennifer: “Don’t mix Charlie up in this!” Steve: “Of course I’ll bring him into this; it’s what you’ve used all this time to keep Max!” Jennifer tells him she just wants Max to see that she’s serious. She goes on to tell Steve she saw Max and Eliza kissing.

Max talks with Karina in the park. They talk about when Karina wanted to be an astronaut. She asks why he abandoned them. Instead of an excuse he says “I’m a coward.” He hopes to fix in the present what he failed to do in the past.

Sofía is watching a news broadcast about the arrival of the new Mexican consul. We see young people protesting. [This doesn’t make sense to me. Why protest outside the Mexican consulate when it’s the US sending them back.] Sofía sees Alo, recognizing her even from the back with a hoodie on.

Ernesto gets out of the car, smugly telling Paula that she’s wrong about his not mixing with the demonstrators. He’ll get them on his side telling them that Mexico understands. It’s a political ploy for him.

We see Jennifer enter Corazón de Pan.

LADO, CAP. 23, VIERNES, Parte 3 de 3

We see Ernesto starting his speech when Alo takes off a boot and throws it at him, shouting: “¡Eh, gober, púdrete!” (Hey, rot in hell!) The guards swarm her. Sofía (by telenovela magic) is there and tries to get to her daughter. Joel grabs her and drags her off.

Jennifer tells Eliza that she ruined her life. Eliza responds that she was his wife first and that Jennifer went to bed with a married man. Jennifer sneers that Eliza’s marriage isn’t valid in the US (I doubt this.) Crazier than ever, Jennifer accuses Eliza of following them to NYC and getting pregnant. [Few people in this novela can do math.] Eliza isn’t backing down. She’s right up in Jennifer’s face, telling her that she remembers her as the one that got them thrown out of the house that Max bought for them.

Jennifer tells Eliza she’s a parasite in the US living off others. She offers her $20K to go back to her crappy little village. Eliza tells her she finds it sad seeing a woman who has to pay to keep a man. Slap! Eliza slaps right back, saying: Si me buscan, me encuentran. (If someone messes with me, I won’t take it lying down.)

Max drops off Karina and sees Jennifer’s car outside the bakery.

Wow! Ernesto’s guards put Alo in a storeroom in the consulate, hands and feet tied and with tape over her mouth.

Eliza tells Jennifer to leave her business. Jennifer sneers at the thought she would own a business and then, intuiting the look on Eliza’s face, tells her she’s illegal.

Max comes into the bakery. He tells Jennifer he did what she wanted for ten long years and renounced the only woman he ever loved in his whole life in order to be near Charlie. “Now, this is over.” He apologizes to both women, one for having left her and the other for not loving her. When Jennifer threatens to have him thrown in jail, he tells her to go ahead. In any case, he’s getting a divorce.

After Jennifer leaves, Eliza tells him he should not have said what he said to Jennifer; he made things worse. He tells her he’d rather be sent to jail than be Jennifer’s titere (puppet).

Andrés tells Benny that his father was deported and, after Benny leaves, tells Tomás that he has to tread carefully so as not to give ICE any pretext to deport him.

Sofía rages at Joel for having taken her away from the consulate. Then, looking suspicious, she asks why he was even there. Has he been following her? She tells him she was there because she saw her daughter on the news. Then she tells him she knows he doesn’t believe her. He still thinks she’s involved with Ernesto and his crowd and that she’s a criminal. “The only thing that matters to you is getting the proof you need that I’m a killer so as to put me back in jail!” She starts hitting him and then runs into the hallway. He gets her against a wall and they appear to almost kiss. [Another fake-out, like the day before?]

Wow, novelera, muchísimas gracias for this magnificent recap. You covered everything with wonderful clarity, helpful Spanish, and some delightful snark.

I'm glad you questioned why the demonstration was in front of the Mexican consulate when it is the USA that's deporting undocumented immigrants. I wondered about this too.

I also shared your doubts about Jennifer's claim that Eliza's marriage isn't valid in the USA. If any marriage isn't valid, it would seem to be Jennifer's, since Max was already married when he married her. She may want to think about that before she tries to get him thrown into jail for bigamy.

Alondra should get herself a good lawyer and sue the overzealous security guards who bound and gagged her and left her on the floor.

I enjoyed your comment about the math-challenged folks in this telenovela. However, though I hate to defend Jennifer, I don't think she knows how old Rodrigo is, and so perhaps her accusation stemps more from inadequate information than from bad math. (Though what it really stems from is that she's a perra.)

Lado: Watched Thursday and Friday's episodes tonight. Wow! This novela is fast paced!
I didn't expect the Max, Eliza, Jennifer storyline to move forward so quickly with Max assuming full responsibility for being a cobarde.
Have no idea where it will go from here.

wow, what an incredible recap novelera, it put me rIght back into the story !!!

at breakfast Paula says when life gives you lemons you make a margarita, Ernesto with his flask is loading up his orange juice, such good role models.

I just knew Ernesto would melt this crowd and have them eating out of his hand, I'd vote for him, wait, until some terrorist gave him the boot.

had to blow the dust off my bible, Psalm 108:9, "upon edom I cast my shoe" ("Edom being "an old, proud, insolent, and cruel enemy of Israel")

throwing a shoe is a major Arab insult as happened to G.W. Bush in Iraq and reminded to us by Ernesto.

say, why isn't Benny making the deliveries? is it his hair cut?

I think it was a Perry Mason show that got me looking into marriages in Mexico by U.S. citizens, it's complicated, and not always recognized in the U.S.

odd that Jen is telling Eliza her marriage is invalid, and accusing Max of bigamy.

reality, a small town near me, an undocumented mexican got into a barroom brawl to protect the female bartender, ICE had a warrant for his arrest so the local police detained him for 4 days, he has no criminal history and is married to a U.S. citizen, and is actively seeking a green card, the ACLU is suing.

LADO

Alondra can only Sue the Embassy if (1) she gets safely out of the storeroom, (2) if she isn't kidnapped and turned out like the other undocumented girls and those that they are kidnapping in Mexico.

Deb
I'd love to know more about this Mexican/USA marriage business. I'm blessed I didn't have any problem bringing my Dominucan husband in from Venezuela where we were living. Then came his sister, and, later his parents when the government became more socialistic.

Just a year or so after Obama was sworn in, my daughter-in-law who has dual German and French citizenship, came in hassle free.
My heart hurts for all those undocumented Latinos that just want to have a better life.

I appreciate the way the writers are showcasing the plights of undocumented workers. It's a real reflection on today's society. Of course, if the Mexican Government could get a handle on its drug cartels, Mexicans would wish to stay in a safer, more prosperous country.

Off my soap box now.

Victoria: Ernesto will figure out Alondra is in the storage room. Let's hope he doesn't brainwash her into hating Sofia & Co., too.

I'm expecting Jennifer to continue upping the ante against Eliza & her kids.

Novelera: Charlie is thrilled to have siblings! Let's hope he gets the needed transplant.

Deb: Monday's preview showed Karina calling Alondra's cell phone. How long before Paula figures out that Eliza's kids are in Los Angeles too ?

Novelera mentioned "kiss of death". I hope this doesn't foreshadow something horrible happening to Andres.

Lado

Thank, Novelera, for your detailed recap.

Looks like Joel has progressed from "regular" dreams about Sofia's execution (per his fiance in Colombia) to dreams about making love to her. How conflicting since he's also trying to trap her (she did tell him to his face that she killed the only thing that mattered to him.,,his sister...who she said she knew was pregnant). It would be nice if they'd just put everything (the truth) on the table the way they did with Max, Eliza and Jen yesterday. Then they can focus on the next level of drama. Might be asking too much from a novela.

Not cool that security tied up Alondra and threw her in the storage room. Since the media was there I'm expecting her to be freed, but who or what will she see/hear before leaving?

Storylines like Jennifer's are truly the most pathetic....demanding Max's love to the exclusion of everyone else and her own self-respect. We know where this is going...Jen will commit every despicable offense to keep them apart while still throwing condescending insults at/harming the innocent...Eliza and fam. Just glad Eliza slapped her back.

OMG: MS. NOVELA:

I HAD to fall out laughing at ..your demand ELIZA GRAB THAT GUY RIGHT NOW!!!

OMG!LOL!! THAT was on the money-honey!!!

MARRIAGE , TOO LEGIT TO QUIT:
....dead dad means who gets the money...that marriage thing might be to this whole loci... we have the real baby daddy thing as well!!

eSPECIALLY IF[ looks half dead/fragile] MAX DIES!!!!
## ok.. why ,cause MAX, who looks as frail as a stick may pass over soon and $$ inheritance$$$

SO THEY GOT ALOJANDRA... Ernesto and Paula.. really... on lock down..!! Alo, is due to turn to them after the school sees the Sofia-sick- history!!!???

JOSE JOSE# 149

Anel and her brother left PEPE BROKE, SICK, BURNT OUT AND too BROKE to get medical help??...!!

Jose became sick on the road and was left high and dry in Las Vegas... he had no money, not even to pay a doctor, or to get treatment or TAKE A PLANE HOME TO RECOOP...WTF?!?!

Anel and her brother robbed him blind... and HAVE ALSO...refused to pay his income tax... Jose is going to jail!!

His brother tried to bribe a judge and get total custody of his son... but he didn’t have enough cash>> BUT Gonzalo did have enough to get major custody

And pepe should could not help…

His cousin Maria/Gabriel are obligated to frank because Maria killed Felix who robbed them... frank took all their money anyway... and gave them alibis

Frank had Gabe burned down the PATIO BAR... and that was the nail… in his and Maria’s marriage...
She knew they were digging a hole deeper and deeper and that with frank was vampire… and he was cannibalizing them bit by bit…

But the big news!!
KIKI DIED!!! She was singing in a dive... Maurice was the last friend she saw… before her fatal…. Sleep ... her da was the ex-president of Mexico...

But Anel and Claudia called her the tarantula and the witch… they were not grieving her transition..trust me!!

Lado

hmm, so is the Mexican consulate considered to be foreign soil? (and that would put Alo in Mexico, right?) and doesn't Ernesto have diplomatic immunity?

Lado

Jen is so pathetic. Where is her dignity and self esteem...must be non existent since she's been hanging on to a man that showed her years ago that not only does he not love her....but he already a family prior to meeting her. I'd have been outraged and left years ago to find out about the 1st family regardless of my own marital/family status. And it shouldn't be about money cause dad should have left her something. She's obsessed...and will certainly take steps to have Eliza and kids deported.

I was disappointed with the speed at which Max is endearing himself back into the family. He deserves to be slapped around good and plenty by everyone of his kids and Eliza. But everyone, except Tom, is allowing this excuse of a man to limp his way into their lies with his wimpy self. He should have stood up to Jen 10 years ago. I hope that Eliza realizes he was right...she's strong and got along well without him for 10 years...and don't need him...or anyone ...for that matter now. She deserves a stronger more dedicated partner....like Angreas....maybe.

I'm not sold on Steve being the guy for Eliza. Now that he has stepped back into our life...he has not come clean about his history with Max and knowledge of his cowardly actions. Steve knows enough to at least have set the record straight about Max so that his own efforts with Eliza will not be impeded. But....since he is an attorney...this will keep him in her life...and probably good graces when she needs help with ICE.

This whole Alondra at the rally throwing the show thing is stupid. I'm trying not to comment on it because it made no sense for her to attend...let alone bring attention to herself by throwing the show....but that's the story line.

Like everyone else....Sofia could squash or shed light on her non assassination of Joel's sister so at least this part of the story can be settled. There's enough depth and drama to the story not to drag this plot line out.

"LADO":

Spanish Student: I strongly expect Jennifer to call ICE or the Mexican Consulate General Office in Los Angeles.

You know what that means: Paula will sic hired guns to whack Eliza & her kids.

Lado:

Novelera, as usual your recap is amazing, peppered with humorous remarks and not a single detail missed. Thank you and the other recappers for your dedication. You all are so very talented.

So it seems almost everything is going Max's way now, and that only couple of days after revealing the extent of his dishonesty, cowardice and spinelessness to Eliza and the children.3 out of 4 children already forgave him and Eliza, who should be at the very least raging with anger for all that he put her true is willing kissing him and lets him hold her hand, as if nothing happened. He already almost made her cave and with almost no effort. I must admit I am terribly disappointed. I guess it pays off to be a cheating, sniveling coward!
Right now Max's only problem is the bigamy charge (and Tomas hating his guts, but view the progress he made with his other children in just a couple of days I bet Tomas will be hugging his daddy in a week tops).

As far as bigamy is concerned, it is interesting to know that in California bigamy is a wobbler, i.e a crime that can be punished as either a felony or a misdemeanor and the decision whether to charge as a felony is or as a misdemeanor is mostly at the discretion of the prosecutor. If charged as a misdemeanor, it is punishable by either probation, a prison term of up to a year or a fine of up to 1000$. View Max's circumstances (a dying child, a complicit second wife) I believe prosecutor will go with a misdemeanor and Max could end up getting away with a simple probation. Also, it is sometimes very difficult to prove bigamy when the culprit married abroad since it is difficult to find record of the marriage in foreign country. I suppose Eliza wouldn't volunteer the necessary information to the prosecution. So the bottom line is Max is risking very little as far as bigamy charge is concerned. He is lucky that he is an American citizen though, since bigamy is a crime involving moral turpitude and, thus, a bigamy conviction can have far reaching immigration consequences.

As far as family law is concerned, Jennifer might want to brush up on the law before making useless threats, since a bigamous marriage is always a marriage that is void. It is illegal from the beginning and can be annulled by either of the parties. Eliza's marriage, on the other hand, is the only valid one, and it does not matter that the marriage was contracted in another country, as long as it is legal in that country. And if Eliza's marriage was not legal, then there is no bigamy and Max can simply divorce Jen and move on with his life. So, the only one that would lose from a bigamy charge is Jennifer.

Irene

Lado:

As far as Joel is concerned, he is probably the dumbest law enforcement representative in the telenovelaland. I always thought that he is one brain cell away from an amoeba, but to say that Sophia is an evil criminal mastermind, that she went to jail and risked death penalty to maintain her business of trafficking children (because, according to him, that's what criminal do) and then to say that he believes that in the specific occasion of the current pedophile she actually is trying to help the girl and save her from trafficking is such a contradiction and an utter and complete nonsense that I now have to ask amoebas to forgive me for comparing them to him. His wheels are turning but the hamster is long ago dead and putrefying and it better be another dream sequence at the beginning of the next episode!

Irene

Lado

Thanks so much for the kind words, all. I'm a bit of a contrarian on Max. He obviously has been a loving father to all of his children, and was immediately ready to have Rodrigo in his life. Karina was clearly Daddy's Little Girl and has missed him terribly.

I'd be perfectly content to see Max having good relationships with all of his children, assuming we get the miracle cure for Charlie. I don't want or expect that Eliza will forgive him. She'll either be strong, and on her own or with Steve or Andrés.

What I meant by the "Kiss of Death" when she told him he was her best friend had nothing to do with his not making it to the end of the show. I just meant that, in TN Land, if a woman thinks of a man as a friend, it usually doesn't turn into passionate love. Of course, I wish she'd end up with him. He's a fabulous man, acting as substitute dad for her three kids and putting the bakery in his name.

I'm sure Jennifer is going to cause trouble, and that's what Eliza was sensing when he figuratively stabbed her in the heart by telling her in front of the other woman that he'd only ever loved that other woman.

Lado

Many think that Eliza's marriage is the valid one. If so, Steve could put an end to Jen's blackmail easily. But will he?

Joel's character draws more confusion and disinterest than any other character...I'm convinced the writers screwed this up...and diminshed my interest in his character and the novela. But then again, its never about rooting for the protagonists when the bad guys win repeatedly until the last minute.

Max was hands down a total loser in the way he handled his first family. I agree that if his kids want to be part of his life, cool, but Eliza should pause before moving forward with him. (In fact, when is Carmen visiting LA...to hate on Max of course?). Plus, Max has shown that he's incapable of making critical decisions.

LADO

Irene,
I'm in awe of your knowledge of bigamy and its ramifications.

An embassy on foreign soil would be immune right? And all its diplomats would have immunity. If one is found wrong and broke a law(s) they would be deported. Right?

Interesting that Ernesto might find Alondra in the storeroom. That would open a whole different can of worms.

Lado

actually, I'm starting to enjoy watching Joel, yes, he has come to all the wrong conclusions, yes, he knows she killed his sister, yes he's wearing that watch, but what's amusing is he can't stop following Sofia around protecting her with his life, he had his fist in that guys face before he could even squeeze her arm, got to her just in time before she revealed herself to Ernesto, his actions betray everything he says and believes about her, yes, her confession to killing Irene slowed him down in helping her but I don't believe he could ever harm her, I find it interesting watching his turmoil where his actions speak only of love.

Lado: Luckily for Eliza that Andres has been there for her for the past 10 years. Life could have been much worse for her when Max abandoned her and the kids with NADA!
Max is unreliable and I think he will cave again to Jennifer's manipulations.
Joel is a complete turn off to me!
But predicting where this novela is going is difficult. I never would have guessed that Alondra would be tied up in the basement of the consulate!
Bella

Lado

deb, for the most part, I've been fed up with Joel, but your description of the conflict between what he believes and how he acts is very compelling. I may have to rethink my response to him.

LADO

I, for one, am not giving WUS COWARD Max a pass. Eliza has so many admirers that outdistance Max!!

Seeing what happens with Alondra will be interesting. They made such a big point in showing her cell phone on the floor, so the phone will probably play an important role.

I volunteer to take votes on all those who think Patrick, Richard, or both are spies.

I vote neither because that's what I WANT to be true.

Lado:

Victoria, the mistreatment of Alondra by the Consulate employees generates a very interesting and complex legal question. There are two aspects to consider: first, whether the Consulate employees are immune from prosecution in the United States and second, what are the implications of the crime being committed on the premises of the Consulate.

As far as the immunity from prosecution is concerned, there are bad news for the Consulate employees, since, unlike diplomatic immunity which provides a virtually absolute immunity from prosecution (except for traffic tickets) by the host state, consular immunity is only a functional immunity. It means that Consular staff is immune from the jurisdiction of the host state only in respect of acts performed in the exercise of consular function. Since kidnapping a minor is not related in any form to the exercise of consular function, I say they can be prosecuted for this crime.

Now as far as the fact that the crime was committed on the premises of a Consulate, this is an interesting situation. Embassies and consulates grounds belong to the territory of the host state, but the host state waived it's sovereignty rights over it. In practice it means that law enforcement of the host state cannot violate the premises by entering them, so no arrest or search warrant execution can be done on consulate's premises, but since the territory is the territory of the host state, it means that host state has jurisdiction over crimes committed on that ground (unless, of course the perpetrator is protected by diplomatic or consular immunity). But, what is interesting in this case is that Alondra is Mexican and therefore Mexico too has jurisdiction -based on the nationality of the victim. Of course, the real question is whether any of the countries would want to exercise this jurisdiction.

So, to summarize, the kidnapping of Alondra was committed by consular employees that are not immune from prosecution for it, both United States and Mexico can choose to prosecute the offenders, but United States will have real difficulties doing so, since evidence cannot be gathered at consulate premises and Mexico will probably choose not to prosecute for obvious reasons.

LADO

Irene
What a well detailed discussion you posted about USA/Mexican law as it pertains to their respective Consulates. It's an intriguing plot line. I doubt the writers will take the opportunity to expand on or explore such an intricate issue.

Isn't it stupid of Ernesto to be an Ambassador in a country that has an extradition agreement between it and Mexico??

This novela jumps around and, usually, doesn't waste time on nonsense side lines.

Does anyone know how many chapters this novela will be.

Lado:

Victoria, I would love for this issue to be expanded upon by the writers. There are so many plot points that could come from Ernesto being a consul :the use of the diplomatic pouch (which has certain legal protections) for his criminal entreprise; the use of the premises of the Consulate to hide evidence/collaborators that are in hot waters with the police or to stash victims; the use of vehicles with diplomatic plates to smuggle victims; the various offences that Julian could commit and be immune from prosecution and so much more.

I think lado is supposed to have 75 episodes.

Irene

LADO

Irene what interesting side plots you have raised.

Oh let's hope it is only 75 concise episodes and doesn't go into a second, third, etc season.

"LADO":

Victoria: I believe Patrick & Richard are spies for Ernesto, Paula, Slimy United States Senator Irving Cummings (R-TX) & the Syndicate.

Irene: Eliza & her kids better get ready because Jennifer will have them deported or worse.

Bella: Steven will do nothing to stop his psychopath sister.

Lado

Victoria: Here's my vote:

Patrick is a fairly bland and boring employee of Interpol. He never comes up with any brilliant insights like Joel does and accuses him constantly of being impulsive. He is written into the novela so as to give Joel (the galán ????) someone to talk to so Viewerville can hear what Joel is thinking. I do not believe he is working with the child traffickers.

Richard is the handsome, and honorable, agent with the FBI. He has fallen for Sofía, but his strong ethics have made him resist putting any moves on her. This is because, in some sense, he has power over her, knows her true identity, and doesn't feel it's fair to pressure her. He was the guy who believed in her. He is the guy who probably dreams of the day she can be revealed as innocent Sofía Villavicencio. I also do not believe he is working with the child traffickers. And, if he were working with the child traffickers, he would have wanted her to be executed.

Lado:

Novelera, I concur with your analysis.
What a clever explanation it is regarding Patrick basically being Joel's thought bubble. I never thought of it that way, but it makes perfect sense.

I never pegged Patrick for dirty because he had unlimited access to Joel from the beginning. He always knew where he was and could have tipped off the bad guys about his whereabouts from the beginning. Also, he could have easily planted a bug on Joel, so the charade with the GPS watch would have been completely unnecessary. Furthermore, he also knows that Sophia is alive, but so far the child traffickers are unaware of that, so it means that he did not inform them, which he should have, if he were dirty. Furthermore, he suggested to Joel on multiple occasions that Sophia is innocent. Since the plan of the traffickers hinged on Joel actually believing that Sophia is guilty so that he would stop investigating, it is totally counterproductive to actually attempt to point that dim-wit into the right direction, and thus means that Patrick is not dirty.

As far as Richard is concerned, if he were dirty he would not have helped fake Sophia's death and hidden her for two years.

Irene

"LADO":

Irene: Jennifer will keep winning for the foreseeable future.

I see that Carmen will get a VISA to see her grandkids. You want to bet Jennifer will up the ante even further by extreme measures ?

Max needs to still DIE.

Lado

Victoria, I too think that neither Patrick nor Richard is a spy. I agree with the arguments set forth so well by novelera and Irene.

LADO

Taking votes and checking them twice!!

But I'd really like to know why some of you guys think Patrick, Richard, or both are spies. What did y'all find/see as the give away sign(s)

Steve sees conspiracies everywhere. Pay him no mind.

LADO

Irene, RIGHT ON YEAH!!

👍 LADO

Anonymous. 👍

Victoria, I think regarding Patrick some people though he might be dirty when Joel and Sophia were ambushed at the border, since he was basically the only one that knew about the operation to smuggle her and Alondra to the US that way. There was really nothing else that can be pointed to.

As far as Richard is concerned, there is nothing at all.

Of course, it could be like in 24 (the terrorism series with Kiefer Sutherland), where seemingly good guys turned out to be the big bads without any kind of previous indication that they were dirty and with often quite flimsy motivations as to why they chose to stray, but I doubt Lado would go that way.

Irene

LADO

Irene

Would you like for me to put your vote as No for both of them?
I hate Saturday and Sunday because you have to wait 2½ days to watch LADO.

I started watching '24' and found it so suspenseful (channeling 'Dallas') that I couldn't stop watching it and had a 3 day marathon with no sleep.

Lado:

Victoria, a definite no for both of them.

I love '24' so much, and have a huge crush on Kiefer but it was really getting predictable : just point to the one person that you suspect the least of being a mole, and that's the mole.

Irene

"LADO":

Irene: I strongly expect Alondra to start hating Sofia, Eliza, etc.,

You know Ernesto will brainwash her into a spoiled brat just like Julian (who will likely get more dangerous).

Lado

Victoria, adding to what Irene said about Patrick being the only one who could have tipped the bad guys off to the specific plan to smuggle Sofia and Alondra across the border, there's also 1) the fact that Patrick didn't accompany Joel and Sofia when they tried to cross the border and were ambushed, and 2) for a number of episodes, Joel was sure that Sofia was innocent while Patrick kept pointing to reasons to think she was guilty. All that led some people to suspect that Patrick was working with the bad guys. (Then apparently Joel became convinced that she was guilty, even before she "confessed," while Patrick at times expressed some doubts.) Let me just say again that Irene and I are simply responding to your request for reasons to think that Patrick and/or Richard are baddies--we don't think they are.

Lado

as I remember it, those are the reasons Sofia didn't trust Patrick, and why she didn't link up with him after she crossed the border as planned, and went to the Senator's instead.

but what actually happened is that Alo talked to their kidnapped bodyguard, German, on the cell while Sofia and Joel were in the store, long enough for Pastrana to locate them.

Lado

deb, you're right! I'd forgotten all about that (in spite of my complaining at the time that Joel never warned Sofia or Alondra about not using a cell phone). Duh...

Lado

Deb, we can always count on you for that perfect detail! I KNEW there was some reason Sofía suspected Patrick and that she didn't go straight to him after she crossed the border, instead going to see Senator Slimy. I just could not remember what it was.

Lado

I'll do a recap tonight. But I'm hoping to only do one a week in future. And my preferred date would be Friday.

Lado

Novelera, read what you write before posting, please! What I meant to say is that, at the time, I saw how Pastrana was able to follow them, but Sofía didn't know about the call and blamed Patrick, since he was not with them at the border.

"LADO":

Novelera: Since Ernesto is the Mexican Consul General in Los Angeles, we can expect him & his cronies to continue getting away with more crimes including murder, drug trafficking, etc., for the foreseeable future.

I seriously DOUBT we'll have a happy ending.

"LADO":

Novelera: I'm looking forward to your good recap from tonight's episode.

Lado

novelera, thanks for doing a recap tonight. Perhaps we can actually figure out a schedule? I'll do one tomorrow (Tuesday), and Tuesday is my preferred day.

LADO

Maybe Nett can pitch hit for us. He did a bangup job last time. And to think that was his first recap!!

Lado

I thought Patrick could have been a spy. Mostly because as a viewer we know that the Senator was lying through his teeth yet Patrick accepted it without question. Joel knew Sofia wasn't a seductive manipulator but Patrick manipulated him into believing it. If you're a detective and your boss constantly tells you that you're impulsive and not thinking correctly, you learn to bite your tongue if the alternative is being removed from the case...a threat used repeatedly to keep Joel in line. Spy or not, I don't like Patrick...he hasn't done anything significant...but perhaps he's just another tool of the writers used to delay solving the case.

Spring break is this week. Perhaps next Wednesday I can recap.

So I'll put you down a yes vote that Patrick is dirty?

If you'd like to vote about Richard, I'll tally that vote also.

Lado.

For the record...Nett is a girl...

I hadn't spoken up for a specific date because my schedule fluctuates and will pick up in the spring/summer which means I often have to watch on deand the following day....and comcast uploads are not always dependable from a timing standpoint. I was gonna suggest taking on Fridays but it was taken before I could decide.

I should be able to cover this tonight but can't really predict going forward....but will try to pitch in.
