Amar a Muerte, 1/22/2019, Episode 55: A Deadly Betrayal Revealed

Previously: LCJ and Lucía arrive to find everyone outside looking mortified. LCJ approaches the vehicle and sees Daniel in the driver’s seat covered in blood. As Lucía approaches, LCJ tries to stop her, but she pushes forward and sees Daniel. Lucía steps back in shock almost collapsing as she leans against the vehicle after reading the message “Ungrateful” left on the windshield.

Lucía is distraught and tells Montilla he has to do something; the man had a family and children. Montilla wants to make it clear so she can understand…organized crime has many more resources and is much more organized than they (the cops) are; and that is why they sent her that message. When Lucía states that she thought she could keep Armenta in line, Montilla wonders how she could think that when not even the previous governments have been able to accomplish it. Lucía cries in anguish as she watches Johny arrive.  No, not on a white horse, though now it smells like one was here.

At the scorpion’s den, Eva tells Alacrán to review the documents closely…all of those are properties that the Carvajal Group has that are in underdeveloped areas. She then confirms that she will sell it to them at a fraction of the price as agreed upon. Later, they can say that the properties are in prime commercial areas and they (Carvajal Group) can buy them back at a higher price. Alacrán likes the idea since his money will be very clean; he thinks Eva is brilliant. Eva hopes that this will not cause her any problems; so Alacrán assures her that the more exchanges there are of the money, the more difficult it will be to trace it…anyway, who would have doubts if the Carvajal Group is growing. Eva thoughtfully agrees, after all her father made a money-making machine. Alacrán adds that that is nothing compared to the money she will be getting. After Alacrán tells her that she is now playing in the major leagues, he sits by her and tells her to relax. When he asks about the teddy bear; Eva evades the question and tells him he needs to sign the document. Just then, Eva receives a message with a picture of the car with the dead employee. She worriedly wonders where this will lead them. Alacrán thinks she should be glad because the Armentas will soon make her stepmother disappear any moment now; messing with narcos is dangerous…her stepmother has no idea what she did (copy that, Eva? By your look, I think you did…)

At the company studio, Mayela is looking at her agenda when Guille walks in and asks everyone to leave. Once alone, Guille asks why she went and told Eva about him and Renata. Mayela denies seeing Eva…she hasn’t seen her in a long time. When he calls her bluff and tells her that someone saw her in Eva’s office earlier in the morning, Mayela admits that she did tell Eva and he will appreciate it…she did it because she loves him and he is her friend; what he is doing is not right.

At Silvina’s house, Alirio helps Vale down from the vehicle as Lucho and Sergio watch from a distance. Sergio wonders if this is where the other guy Vale might be seeing lives. Lucho believes so because Vale never comes to this area. Just then, Sergio sees Juls come out and greet Vale with a hug; he thanks Lucho because now he knows where Juls live. Lucho isn’t giving up; sooner or later he will find out who the guy is. After they leave, Vale and Juls walk inside as Vale tells Juls that Lucho got aggressive, but he didn’t harm her…he just thinks that she is going out with some other guy. They laugh and Vale wonders how Lucho would react if he found out about them. When Juls wonders how their families will react, Vale confides that she already told Guille…and he took it well. Juls doesn’t think her mother will react as well since she is quite traditional. Vale thinks Lupita won’t outdo Eva…Eva will probably send her to some asylum in Switzerland. They agree on not telling anyone for now.

At Hec-Maru’s house, Roy is having lunch with Hec-Maru and Maru’s mother. Hec-Maru invites Roy to the theater later, but Roy declines because he has other plans. When he tells Hec-Maru that he is going to a party to celebrate his mother’s engagement, Hec-Maru loses it…how can Cecilia be getting married when his father died just six months ago! After Hec-Maru storms off, Maru’s mother apologizes and tells Roy that Maru’s father also passed away recently and she is very touchy about the situation.

At Barbara’s house, Barb enters with all her shopping bags and some young men who are helping her carry in a wide-screen TV. Before they leave, Barb tells them she also wants to hire them to remodel her whole house. Once alone, Barb admires the clothes she bought when she hears a female voice say, “Are you happy with your body?”  Barb panics and prays that the spirits are not there. As she goes to the patio, she sees that it is an announcement for a beauty center and smiles in relief.

At Hec-Maru’s house, Maru’s mother tells Hec-Maru that he isn’t doing things right; he can’t be his son’s friend and seeing that his family is moving on is affecting him too much. Hec-Maru doesn’t want a lecture; he has come to a decision….he is going to tell his family who he is and is going to do everything he can to end the relationship his wife has with the other guy.

At Barb’s house, Barb is still admiring things that she bought when she hears the voice. When Barb asks if the spirit wants to tell her something, the voice answers that the doors will open for her. Barb walks to one of her doors and looks through it. She sees nothing so she asks, “What doors?” When she turns around, she comes face-to-face with Death Chick who tells her that she expects her to do things right this time.

At Silvina’s house, Vale tells Lupita that she hopes she likes the dessert she bought, When Lupita tells her that she has already done too much for them, Vale confides that her father taught her to share with those she cares about. Lupita assures Vale that once she starts working, she will pay her back, but Juls points out to her mother that she hasn’t fully recovered yet; if they need money, Juls will work. After Lupita insists that she wants Juls to go back to school, Vale asks what happened with the fashion school; so Juls admits that she missed the entrance exam...it was when they were in the hospital. Vale softly strokes Juls’s hair as she assures Juls that they can see what they can do. Lupita adds that after she recuperates, they will leave the city and she will get a job so that Juls can be sure to return to school. Juls is not too receptive.

At the Carvajal home, Mateo tries to calm Lucía, but Lucía knows that it was her fault the man was killed; this is what happens when she plays with fire…these are the consequences she has to endure. Mateo assures her that things will be okay and that she is not at fault. Close by, LCJ listens as Fabricio tells Johny that he was going to fill up the car with gasoline, but Silvina asked him to do something for her, so he sent Daniel. Johny assures him that it could have been any of them.  After Johny then tells Fabricio that they will have to beef up security and he (Johny) will have to move, he approaches Montilla and points out that his theory is right considering all that has happened, beginning with León’s murder. Montilla sighs in annoyance and walks away.

At Barb’s house, Barb is with a client who is asking about his father. Barb has her hands on the crystal ball and tells him that she feels a presence. All of a sudden, Barb hears a voice…it’s the voice of the client’s father who tells her that he didn’t commit suicide; his Uncle Jacinto pushed him. As the voice speaks, Barb is relaying the information to the client who can’t believe his uncle would do such a thing; so the voice tells Barb to tell his son to be very careful with the uncle who is capable of anything to acquire their land in Hidalgo. When Barb relays that info to the son, the son can’t believe it. Barb laughs nervously as she replies that she can’t believe it either. She then gets the combination for a strong box where the son can find the documents.

LCJ enters the Carvajal kitchen. Silvina is getting a pill and some water for Lucía to calm her nerves. LCJ then notices some tools by the shelf where the hidden door is and asks Silvina about it. After she tells him that both Eva and Lucía had requested that Fabricio try to open the hidden door, she goes outside. LCJ walks over to the hidden door and inputs the combination (1-9-6-9-1-9) to open the door.

Lucía rushes nervously into her home office followed by Johny who demands to know where she had been. When she replies that she was busy and came back as soon as Silvina called her, Johny questions why she didn’t answer all his calls and messages. Lucía gets irritated and tells him she was at the spa and left her phone in the locker. When Johny yells that he is no fool, Lucía chides him for having a jealous fit after what just happened outside. She yells, “Seriously? I’m fed up, Johny!” Meanwhile, LCJ is in his batcave talking to Cami on the phone and telling him that it has been a crazy day. When Cami asks about Lucía, LCJ tells him that it has been one of the most beautiful days for him, but also the strangest. Cami doesn’t understand LCJ since just two days ago he wanted revenge and now she proposed to him. As LCJ swivels his chair toward the screens, he sees Lucía and Johny in the office and quickly hangs up to listen in on them. Johny wants to talk about León’s death, but Lucía isn’t up for more bad news; she doesn’t feel well. Johny hisses that of course she’s not well…since she’s probably going around all hot and bothered. Lucía SLAPS him hard; and LCJ watches as Johny becomes furious and grabs her forcefully telling her that she better not put a hand on him ever again.

At Barbara’s house, Barb shows Beltrino all the money she made that day; her career as a cheat has ended. Beltrino doesn’t believe her; once she finds it easy, she won’t want to go back to more difficult things. When Barb tells him that that will not happen, Beltrino wonders if it’s because of the money he gave her, but Barb believes that the stars have aligned for her; she has the gift of clairaudience which is like being a clairvoyant but she doesn’t see the spirits, she just hears them. Beltrino still doesn’t believe her. Barb admits that she couldn’t believe it either, but when the clients come to talk to their dead relatives and ask them questions, she clearly hears the answers from the dead. When Beltrino asks when that started, Barb replies that it started when she started when she first saw the “Lady.” She asked the Lady what she wanted, but didn’t understand her response. After Barb describes the lady, Beltrino is surprised that it’s the same lady that appears to him. He wonders who the lady is. Oh just some homeless chick you two.

Hec-Maru’s butterfly starts bleeding as she calls Roy and rudely asks why he hasn’t been answering his phone. Roy reminds her that he had plans. When Hec-Maru remarks that he didn’t even say good-bye to her, Roy tells her that he didn’t like her reaction and he didn’t like the way she was treating her mother.  Hec-Maru doesn’t want Roy to be upset with her, so she asks where he is so she can go meet him, but Roy would rather wait until another day because they are at his mother’s favorite restaurant and it’s a family celebration. Hec-Maru is distraught as he ends the call.

Guille gets to his office to be greeted by his new secretary, Carmela, who has known Guille since he was a child. Guille calls Eva who is very busy getting it on with Alacrán. Alacrán orders Eva not to answer, but Eva pushes him away and insists on answering because Guille won’t stop calling until she answers. Guille quickly asks why she sent Carmela to him; he won’t accept any secretary that is not Renata. When she tells him that she doesn’t want to talk about it because she is very busy, he retorts that she was not too busy to transfer Renata. Eva reminds him that she is doing him a favor so he can avoid a scandal. Guille assures her that he is going to continue seeing Renata. Eva wants him to stop his tantrum and appreciate what she is doing for him because she helped him end a fling that was not advantageous for him. When Guille tells her that he is very serious about Renata, Eva can’t believe the karma that has befallen the family…he inherited the bad taste of liking secretaries. As Eva continues to order Guille to drop Renata, Alacrán gets impatient and takes the phone from her and throws it on the bed as he tells her that is enough. He grabs her close and tells her he likes women with spunk, but she will obey him. They continue to kiss as he pushes her onto the bed (The call was never ended! Guille, you listening?)

Renata is having a pity-party in her new office as MayeLaSnake comes in still wearing what looks like a very short, cheap silk robe and tells Renata that she has finally found her place in the company. Renata asks that Mayela not disrespect her, but Mayela could care less and accuses Renata of having planned to snatch Guille…she ended up being a liar. Renata assures her that what happened between her and Guille was not planned. Mayela won’t believe her since knows women like Renata…Renata only likes Guille’s lifestyle. Mayela continues that Guille is a public figure and needs to protect his image and that of his family. After Mayela tells Renata to go back to her own little world, she warns Renata that if she doesn’t, Mayela will make sure she goes back.

At the hospital, Beltrino is at the cafeteria when a waiter brings him coffee. He looks up and sees his own (El Chino) face, but when the waiter walks away and Beltrino goes after him and stops him, the waiter is someone else. Beltrino then sees a nurse with El Chino’s face, but when he goes after him, Alicia arrives and stops him. She tells a stupefied Beltrino that the doctor needs to talk to them because Javier’s chemotherapy is about to start; she needs Beltrino to be with her…she needs the man who has always been a support for her.

Hec-Maru’s butterfly is bleeding profusely as he walks up the stairs in the restaurant. The hostess tries to stop him and tells him about the blood, but Hec-Maru marches on since his family is there. When he sees his family and the new beau, Hec-Maru grabs a knife from a nearby tray.

At the Carvajal office, Johny still has Lucía pinned against the desk as he chides her for her cheap excuse. Lucía turns around with a taunting grin and wonders if this is really because he is jealous. When she asks about his reporter friend, Susana, and what he has going with her, Johny knows that she is just trying to turn that tables on him…like all women do. After Lucía sarcastically chuckles, she tells Johny that’s it’s best that he tell her about Montilla; so Johny shares that Montilla found out that Camargo worked at the company a couple of years ago. In case she doesn’t remember who Camargo is, he is the one who contacted the guy who killed León.

LCJ listens in disbelief as Johny continues that the evidence Montilla is gathering is going to bring them to the forefront; and Montilla will find out the she and he sent someone to kill León. LCJ loses it and takes out his fury on anything he can get his hands on.   Oh Boy…Big boys don’t cry; they just smash everything in sight.

At the restaurant, Otto, the new beau, is thanking Cecilia and Roy for opening the doors of their home to him. Hec-Maru watches as Roy reminds him that he agreed to give his mother’s hand in marriage in return for a motorcycle and the agreement to allow him to accompany them on their honeymoon. As they continue to talk, Roy sees Hec-Maru who quickly turns around and walks away; so Roy goes after Hec-Maru.

At the Carvajal office, Lucía reminds Johny that she warned him about getting Camargo into the company. Johny defends his decision…he needed to get someone whom he could depend on. Lucía then chides him because he had assured her that he had gotten rid of everything that would connect Camargo with the company. When she wonders what will happen if they get found out, Johny assures her that no one will find out; everything will turn out well. Just then, Eva walks in looking for Lucía.

At the restaurant, Roy catches up to Hec-Maru and wonders if she followed him there, Hec-Maru responds that he just wants to say hello, but he saw that they were having such a good time and didn’t want to interrupt. Roy offers to introduce Hec-Maru to his family…to his mother and Otto, who isn’t his father, but is like a father; he thinks Hec-Maru will like Otto since he is a nice guy. Hec-Maru is sure Otto is a nice guy, but would rather wait for another day.

At the Carvajal office, Eva pointedly hopes Lucía is fully aware of what just happened; Daniel, who was a long-time employee was murdered because of her irresponsible flirtations with the criminal. When Lucía refuses to take the blame for what happened, Eva questions who should be blamed…she (Eva) is not the one who is going out with Armenta or accepting cars from him. (No, She has her OWN Narco criminal) Johny interrupts and reminds Eva that Lucía was not the one who refused the gift…there were other more diplomatic ways to handle it. Eva refuses to accept that Johny is trying to turn things around (didn’t he just rag on Lucía for surning things around like all women do?) because the only one responsible for what happened is Lucía. As they argue, Lucía interrupts and tells them that it’s useless to argue; Eva made her point and discussing it is futile because nothing will bring back Daniel (maybe calling Death Chick?). Eva stands as she warns Lucía that this is only the beginning of what could happen if Lucía continues with her relationship with Armenta. When she asks Lucía to leave the house for her sibling’s good and suggests that Johny take her in, Lucía smirks and tells Eva that she is not going to get rid of her that easily. Before leaving, Eva responds that then she will let Armenta do them the favor of making her disappear from their lives.

At Armenta’s fortress, Armenta sits munching on a snack when Chulo tells him that the job has been done. When Chulo asks what Armenta has planned for the little widow of Mexico, Armenta grins evilly.

Outside the company, Renata walks as Guille catches up to her and apologizes for what happened. Renata has had a horrible day. She won’t be able to handle it…it’s more difficult than she expected. From one moment to the next, everyone turned against her and she doesn’t deserve so much contempt. Guille agrees that she doesn’t deserve it, but wants Renata to ignore Eva and Mayela. He understands it’s difficult and that is why he wants to talk to her; they need to remain together in this. Renata responds that if he truly loves her, he will respect her decision; she needs to be alone. Oh how noble, ya little wounded brat. You didn't even get fired!

LCJ is overwrought as he thinks of the first time he saw Lucía, the day he proposed to her, their wedding day, and when Johny congratulated him right before getting stabbed. His thought about Lucía crying in the ambulance and asking him not to leave him are interrupted when Camilo calls him.

Outside, a cop reminds Mateo that he needs to go into the station to give his statement. When Guille arrives and asks what happened, Mateo tells him about Daniel being killed by Armenta. Just then, Eva approaches and tells Mateo that she needs to talk to him. Guille wants to talk to Eva, but she will not talk about his little fling with the secretary. After she calls him selfish and chides him for ignoring everything that just happened there, she assures him that she will not talk about that subject now or ever.  Can't wait for the tables to be turned.

Inside the house, Lucía rushes into her bedroom looking for her chill pills in the nightstand drawers. She calls out for Silvina. Meanwhile, LCJ is downstairs thinking about what he just heard Johny and Lucía say about his death. Just then, Lucía shows up and rushes to him for a reassuring hug. When she doesn’t feel him hug her back, she wonders what is wrong and if he is ok. LCJ responds that it is difficult to be okay after what just happened…it is difficult to erase the image of a murder. (Yeah, I bet)  Lucía agrees…they had such a marvelous morning and then this happened. When she asks him to help her understand everything that is going on, LCJ asks what she is going to do. Lucía isn’t planning on doing anything right now; the guy is crazy. When LCJ suggests that she send someone to kill one of Armenta’s men (Like you did ME), she is taken aback and asks what is wrong with him…she is not a murderer like that man. LCJ apologizes and adds that sending someone to be killed is never a good option to resolve a problem. Lucía still wonders why LCJ is acting so strange as LCJ looks at her with his icy blue eyes. Just then Silvina approaches; so Lucía asks her for the chill pills she had in her bathroom and orders her to find them as they walk off.

Eva and Mateo are having coffee. Eva doesn’t want what happened to be reported. Mateo points out that it is impossible that other sources won’t find out; besides Montilla loves to be in the news. Eva trashes Lucía for coming into this house as if she owns it, then she gets involved with that criminal…and now she wants to buy out the shares from the other partners to take complete control of the company. When Mateo wonders if this is the life Eva really wants since she spends her whole day fighting, Eva responds that she is just defending what belongs to her…it seems that neither he nor any other family member wants to defend everything her father did. Mateo tells her to calm down; they have more than enough money to have their own home. Eva reminds him that their house is being remodeled so they are NOT leaving! Mateo smiles as he suggests that they go off to Europe, India or anywhere she wants…they can have a child over there. Eva shakes her head in disgust and tells him that all those ideas are in his head…not in hers.

Outside, Johny tells Fabricio that he has to take charge and restructure everything. Fabricio feels sorry for Daniel and can’t stop thinking that it could have been him. After Johny tells him that the important thing is that he is well, Johny asks Fabricio for the time that Lucía left. Fabricio isn’t sure because she left the back way and bypassed security. Johny wonders if she left alone; so Fabricio reports that she didn’t. Johny then assumes she left with Jacobo and Fabricio confirms it. (Yup, Chump, Jockobo has marked your territory…several times) Fabricio wants to ask what Johny thinks about Lucía, but Johny stops him and orders him that from now on Lucía is not to leave with anyone…much less with Jacobo.

Oh my, what a depressing episode. Except for Barbara's new found talents, everything else was a downer. Great title though as were the screen caps and these observations:

No, not on a white horse, though now it smells like one was here.
and
Big boys don't cry; they just smash everything in sight.

And that looks like where this is going. Armenta is going to continue doing violence, Jacobo will now focus on vengeance rather than love; not sure where Hec-Maru is headed. Was relieved that he didn't lose control at the restaurant. Lucho will surely get violent when he finds out about Val and Juliana's relationship.

And then there's my dear Beltrino, distracted from the needs of his son and wife (in this life) by his obsession with finding his previous body.

Love is losing out while selfishness and secret agendas are taking over.

But a wonderful recap, dear Rgv Chick. Thank you.

Judy: I strongly agree with you Lucho will likely violently attack or kill either Vale or Juls when he finds out.

RGV Chick: Dreading the inevitable violence facing Juls & Vale. We know that Lucho got aggressive & rough...

Outstanding RGV. Thank You.
Ha ! Finally. Who do you love NOW Butterfly Boy? Fool me once, fool me twice, time for fooling around is over. Camillo probably will not even be surprised. I didn't see any evidence that he was recording that little session between his adorable little widow and slimeball, Que Lastima.

Now will he go straight to Montillo and fill him in? Prob not. Are Lucia's Happy Hoppin Days over? Probably so..
“Well, Johny tonight is your lucky night, as LCJ cut me off. Kiss me you fool.”
Who wants to kill Lucia worst? Armenta, Eva, LCJ, or the other hot chicks at Carvajal? When things start crumbling nothing happens in slow motion does it?

Heck-Moo is one hot mess. Snack time............

Poor little Renata, but wait ! There's more: She didn't even get fired, Big Bitch Sista just moved her down the hall. That is probably a blessing in disguise. Very few couples can smoothly spend twenty four hours a day within sight of each other. Yes, her new boss looks like an ogre, but just settle down and go with it until the smoke clears, then wriggle out of there and get a transfer to another spot in the company. Life is NOT a bowl of cherries.

Ole Beltrino is having a rough go of it, seeing his old self everywhere. Is Death Chick in a bad mood or something?

I guess Lunko is not the kind who simply wants to join in is he?

Maybe Death Chick will pull the plug on Heck-Moo before he can do any damage, if he-she doesn't bleed to death first. !

Great work, RGVChick.

Lucho is a loose cannon, a junior Armenta. Valentina had better watch out because he will not take her coming out well at all. I hope his friend can restrain him.

Good thing Hec-Maru was thinking before using that knife. Roy doesn't deserve what s/he was thinking of doing and neither does his mother.

When Barbara showed up with those shopping bags, the big TV, and the idea to fully remodel the house I thought about the one third of lottery winners who end up dead broke within five years. Beltrino gave her $100K US which definitely goes farther in Mexico than here, but I doubt that Barbara is capable of realizing that overspending will get her nowhere. She now seems to have the powers she once pretended to have but I don't think that Dona Muerte will not exact a serious price for them.

Lucia is now looking more complicit in Leon's murder but the company will take a death blow when Eva's dalliance with El Alacran comes to light. Eva has some bloody nerve doing what she did to Renata.

So Renata becomes Violetta after all and Lucia is now Tosca. I always knew that telenovelas and opera are sisters who were adopted by different parents.

Thanks, JudyB, Steve, Kirby and UA.

JudyB, yes, quite a depressing and grim episode. Great acting from Michel Brown...you could feel his pain and anguish....and that's because he hasn't really had time to digest the whole idea of betrayal. I think he may have suspected Johnny, and maybe even Lucia of having something to do with is murder, but was hanging on to that little ray of hope that Lucia was not as bad as he thought...something we all do when someone we trust betrays us.

Steve, I do fear what Lucho may be capable of. No telling what he will do when he finds out he has been ousted by a girl.

Kirby, I agree...LCJ won't go running to Montilla, but I do hope that he somehow has been recording everything though we don't see any evidence of it..oh but wait! He does record the videos! When he was still alive as Leon, he saw Death Chick in the garden. When she disappeared, he went to he bat cave and played back to time when he saw Death Chick and saw nothing! Yay...he does record...I hope the recorder was still on.

UA, "Lucia is now looking more complicit in Leon's murder..." ITA When Johny would mention the murder, Lucia would always deny having any part of it; last night, there was no denial. She was only worried that they could be found out...now I'm even more confused!

I'm also glad that Hec-Maru didn't go through with his violent instinct. Seeing how happy his son and wife were may have stopped him from striking out at the restaurant; I do hopeo he doesn't change his mind later.

Thank You again RGV Chik for a riveting episode.

NOW....that Leon knows the whole truth I hopeo he puts his REVENGE plan into action and on steroids. That anguish and hurt we all witnessed last night can quickly morph into blind rage. Bring it.

And Leon Chino Jocobo has a very undesirable advantage: He has nothing to lose, as he knows his days are numbered, he is going to die soon anyway. He has spent half the time we have known him just trying to figure out how many Days he has left. Your bucket list is pretty short, but then you do not have much time either LCJ.

Ssssssss, that's the air leaking out of my Happy Trails balloon. Was Lucia going to run away with Jacobo or not (probably not--it was a choice between getting safely away from Armenta with a guy with icy blue eyes that somehow reminds her of Leon or running a mega-million company).

Thank you, RGV. Stupendous recap. The screen shot of LCJ captured the anguish he was feeling at that instant. Outstanding actor in my book. Lucia was equally outstanding in her varied exchanges with Montilla, Johny, Eva and LCJ. Thank you, again, for the detailed recounting.

I must have mis-heard Johny when he was talking to Fabricio (I still worry about him--he's not up to Head Security Personnel Standards). I thought Johny said he would have to move into the house himself*. That sent shivers up my spine, not that Eva would stand for it. *I know, I know, he just got himself a new place to live, probably one with stone walls and no floor-to-ceiling glass windows looking out on a street.

Eva, OTHO, is a perfect specimen right out of Narco-Recruitment Personnel Regulations. She can easily compartmentalize her roles as domineering sister meddling in her sibling's lives, fierce business woman--take no prisoners, fraudster first class and narco-hag.

Kirby: "Who wants to kill Lucia worst? Armenta, Eva, LCJ...?"

Armenta? He still wants her alive, but wants to make the people around her suffer. He'd be satisfied to have her kidnapped again, but this time sequester her in his mansion. He HAS warned her that if he wants her dead, he'd do it himself with his beloved Juanita.

Eva? She's not there yet--she wants to destroy Luci's reputation as the Widow and get her out of Carvajal with her tail between her legs. If she ever wants her disappeared, she'd go to El Al before getting her hands dirty.

LCJ? Right now he wants her dead but is still obsessively in love with her. After a couple of more days, he may just want to cut her off because he knows he's there to make things right with his children, which making love to Luci is not. Interesting that Death Chick let them have that day in the cabana with no bleeding tattoo.

I'm holding out hopeo that Johny, with his "we" talk, is just making sure Lucia goes down with him, if he goes, by implicating her in the planning. Right now, I see Lucia guilty of having gone along with Johny to have Leon distracted by love and marriage to a woman half his age and letting Johny do whatever he wanted with the company and to share the wealth and future with her*. We really don't know, but have to accept for the time being, that she was a willing co-conspirator in the planning, but not the execution of Johny's plan. Her TRUE guilt (at Episode #55) is not turning herself and Johny in as soon as she recognized the horror of what he had done. Of that she cannot save herself now. *How long before Johny would get rid of her, too, in an unfortunate accident, to have the whole ball of wax? He's seems ok with having his physical needs fulfilled by prostitutes. Lucia is REAL eye-candy and would help his image in the business world. He probably doesn't consider he'd be seen as second fiddle, algo de segundo plato.

UA--Thanks for the shout-out to Grand Opera! Yep, and Eva as a Scarpia? She seems to love to torture people.

I just reading the recao, but could not wait until I wrote that.

When Lucía states that she thought she could keep Armenta in line, Montilla wonders how she could think that when not even the previous governments have been able to accomplish it.

Peña Nieto right???

Now, now, Victoria, real names not permitted, hehe.

Actually, Eva is GiorgiA Germont; Armenta is Scarpia... although Cesar Evora was a slicker one in Amor Bravio to Silvia Navarro's "Tosca."

Thanks again Kirby. I'm just wondering how long it'll take LCJ to get over the shock of the revelation. He needs to be smart about it though so that his butterfly won't start bleeding or completely disappear.

Thanks, Anita. I do agree that the other actors are also quite talented in bringing to life their characters, but, gee, for some reason, I seem to focus on Michel Brown...hmmm...could it be those baby blues eyes? :-)

Kirby,

I'm slow on the uptake, but do we know for sure that Lucia was in on killing Lucas along with Johny from the beginning?

"And Leon Chino Jocobo has a very undesirable advantage: He has nothing to lose, as he knows his days are numbered, he is going to die soon anyway. He has spent half the time we have known him just trying to figure out how many Days he has left. Your bucket list is pretty short, but then you do not have much time either LCJ.

So they have a limited time in their new body and will die again??

I hadn't put 2 + 2 together, but it seems as if their butterfly tatto bleeds more profusely when they are doing/planning something evil or bad.

No we don't know, and they have purposefully kept us in the dark. Lucia claims she was surprised and shocked, but after the fact she appears to be OK with it. I don't know, but tend to believe she knew what was going to happen, just not when. No other scenario makes senser given Johny continuing to talk about their plans all along to eventually be together.

As Far as I can tell, they are brought back/ kept alive to finish unfinished business when they initially died. When they have tidyed things up they are dead for sure.

Thanks, Chickie. I fell asleep on the sofa and missed the show. It sounds as though things are slowly moving to a conclusion. I wonder if I will finally understand the message the show is trying to convey.

Susanlynn, the basic message I'm getting from this show is "do what you gotta do and do it right, before it's too late."

Dear Chickie.... That is a Good message, isn't it?

I see Lucia as a tragic figure shaped by a monster of a mother who got her into prostitution at an early age. She seems head over heels in love now , but her happiness won't last.

Maybe:
You can not go back and undo what your parents did to you, but as an adult you dam sure better fix it. Nobody else will.

When lucia was freaking out after finding out johnny got leon killed she exclaimed "that wasn't the plan!" but also frantically added "not now, not so soon." So while Leon's murder wasn't run by her beforehand, it seems she knew that day would eventually had come.

Lucia isn't a tragic figure. Lots of people have horrible upbringings and they don't all end up being murderers, prostitutes, gangsters, etc. Lots of people pick themselves up. She just continues to do what she knows she can do best. Doesn't seem like she wants redemption at all.
