Mi marido tiene más familia Friday 1/11/19 Capítulo 85 The Ghost of Canuto Past--or--Guido Frames Hermoso

Audifaz walks in on a happy turkey dinner. He stopped by to get a few things and to tell them he will be living with Tulio. Ari makes a point of telling Audifaz he bought the turkey with his own money and invites him to sit and eat with them.  Audi must be going but is pleased that Ari is doing so well and now that the López boy is no longer to be around, he can focus on himself. Ari asks what does he mean by that. Audi asks if Ari didn't hear that Cuautémoc and his friend are now novios.

Susana and Pancho congratulate Temo and Diego.   Pancho announces that they will be staying in separate rooms and looking after the kids.

We see the huge ofrenda Imelda has created for Canuto. The whole family is  there. Imelda talks to Canuto and how he died after life brought them together again.  He still lives in all of their hearts. Canuto's ghostly hands appear on her shoulders. Canuto says that someday she will be looking for him and he will be waiting for her.  The ghost of Canuto stands next to Susana. Susana regrets the last words she said to him. The ghost of Canuto  says she has always been a good daughter and he is happy she has reconciled with her sons. She cannot miss the opportunity of believing in love again.

Sebas gets the ghostly hand on his shoulder next.  Sebas misses his grandfather so much but he knows he is in a better place: in a boat in heaven navigating between the clouds.  Canuto says he won't be there to see him grow up but he will be the captain of that boat that will visit  him in his dreams to take care of him. Canuto kneels in front of Eugenio. Eugenio never stopped thinking about him. He never wanted to forget him. Canuto apologizes for his exit and will be in Eugenio's heart and his memory for his whole life. Canuto smiles at them all and disappears.

Ari wishes he could have known Canuto better. Frida will pray for him every day.  All of the family members express what Canuto meant to them.  Linda sums it up saying Canuto will always live as long as they remember him.  Imelda agrees that real death is being forgotten.  Susana says she is renewing the promise that Robert made to Canuto to unify both of the Córcega families. Susana is going to start off by having a "Catrina" party. (The "Catrina" is an elegant portrayal of a skull of a woman in a wide brimmed hat trimmed with flowers that goes back to the etchings of the Mexican artist José Guadalupe Posada that has come to symbolize The Day of the Dead.  Linda and Imelda with their wide brimmed hats most closely represent the etching. ) They are all still alive and this could be a time to get together and  celebrate life  while leaving all of their problems behind.  Ari wants to know if Temo can come. Susana asks Imelda if she can invite Catalina because she knows how she has seemed a little down since Julieta left. Imelda gives in.

Susana tells Eugenio that she and Pancho want to talk to him out in the hall.  Susana and Pancho tells Eugenio that they are with him all the way.  They will not fail him. Eugenio thanks them.  he has good days and bad days. Susana reminds him that he will not be able to hide it much longer.

At their house, Gabriel has Vanidoso the Oso singing to the babies. Dani giggles.  Hermoso gets jealous and nips at Vanidoso. Nonno and Guido come in.  Nonno is all excited about having great grandchildren.  He wants to start spoiling them from this moment on. They start to talk about names. Dani says they don't even know the sex of the babies yet.   She also invites them to the Catrina party at Blanca's house.  Nonno wants to hear all about it. Clarisa and Casandra arrive and there are hugs and happiness all around. Before you know it, it is time to dance the tarantella again.

Susana comes home to an upset  Axel.  he just lost the only woman he ever loved because he didn't honor her as he should have.  He calls her "mamá" in his grief.  She tells him he is never alone. She will always be with him. Susana suddenly realizes that he called her mother. She has not heard that since he was a little boy. He regrets having fought so much with her. She explains that she is his mother and would give her life for him.  He needs her. She says they will face whatever comes with him.

Frida tells Eugenio to talk about his memories. That way she will remember them in case he forgets them and will be able to repeat the memories to him.

Imelda prays for her family and remembers the nice things the Italian said to her.  Crisanta is also thinking back on the nice things the Italian said to her. He was a little strange but certainly not ugly.

In the middle of the night Guido attacks Vanidoso the bear. Hermoso starts to bark so he give the dog something to eat. Guido takes scissors and rips the bear apart and leaves it in pieces.  Hermoso has been set up to take the blame.

Dani and Gabriel talk about Nonno and Guido. Gabriel is worried about Guido who lost his parents at a very early age. Gabriel has two more pairs of baby shoes so now they have enough for all of hem.

Ari is frustrated playing his keyboard at home. Polita thinks he should continue to see Tavo so he can help find himself.

Pancho asks Temo how things are going with Diego.  Temo is not comfortable discussing it. How are things with Susana? Pancho is all smiles.  Temo asks if he is thinking about marrying Susana. Pancho says yes! but it is something both families would have to discuss to iron out the details.

Audifaz watches Ari's interview where he talks about the rough patch his parents are going through and how he and his father are estranged.  Nevertheless, Ari will always love and respect his father because without him he would never exist. Audi looks sad.

Frida records all of Eugenio's memories on her phone. In her room she goes over one where Eugenio remembers that he proposed to Blanca with a three chocolate cake in addition to the ring. Blanca said yes!

Eugenio sits all alone trying to remember the  song he sang with Juan Pablo as a child. He has trouble remembering the words and cries.

Gabriel finds the Vanidoso the bear all torn apart and is upset because it was a sign of his and Dani's love. Dani cannot believe that Hermoso destroyed it, because he has never destroyed anything before. Guido says it looks like the dog is jealous,  real jealous.   Guido concludes that animals do not understand what they are doing.  Nonno agrees that you cannot control how a dog is going to react and offers to buy them a new bear today.  Gabriel thanks him but it just would not be the same. Since it was Dani's first gift to him, it was more than  a bear.

Pancho and his kids are all dressed up and made up for the Catrina party. Lupita wants to take a photo to send Dave.

Guido's Catrina face is quite menacing.  He is happy. He goes shopping at the market for candles and herbs.

They all gather at Blanca's. Imelda says they are scary but wonderful at the same time.  Imelda reminds them all that here in Mexico, death is not the end of life but the beginning of eternity.  Dani tells Imelda she is going to be impressed by  Gabriel's grandfather because he is a man of the world. When Nonno arrives and he sees Imelda they are both surprised.  He introduces himself as Massimo Mussi. He came with his grandson Guido who should be arriving shortly. Susana and the kids arrive  next without Pancho who had some food disagree with him. Nobody wants to hear the details.

Diego and Temo arrive and Imelda makes a crack about them. Susana reminds her that the skeleton costumes indicate that we will all end up the same.  Imelda agrees but some will be at peace but others will be suffering for the lives they led. Ari asks Imelda to not start judging everybody again. Susana tells her they have to be tolerant and respectful be cause the two boys are not doing anything bad.  Imelda informs Susana that just because she is on this mission to unify the Córcega's doesn't give her the right to come in and tell everyone what to do.  Here she is only her mother's daughter. Susana is shocked as Imelda sits back like a fat cat licking the milk off its whiskers.  Susana tells Imelda she is Canuto's daughter and doesn't want to get into it again with her.  If Imelda really loved Canuto, then why wouldn't she help fulfill his wish of bringing the families together. Will Imelda help? She just rolls her eyes.

At the market, Guido has bought a packet of something and puts it into his pocket. The shopkeeper gives him an odd  look.

Linda tries to talk Gabriel and Dani into a gender reveal party. Dani says it sounds just too complicated. Linda just thought it would be fun.  Gabriel likes the idea though.  Linda is going to talk to her dad because it would involve cakes with different color fillings.

Eugenio comes out of his room and starts asking where Blanca is.  Everyone turns and stares.

Wow! It looks like we have a new villain. I wonder what he has in store with his purchases.

More mañana.

Jarifa, just wonderful. Title was inspired.

I loved your explaining "Catrina”. I always learn so much from you!

“Clarisa and Casandra arrive and there are hugs and happiness all around” and “Susana is shocked as Imelda sits back like a fat cat licking the milk off its whiskers” (perfect Jarifa) were my favorites.

I must admit that despite a few fun scenes, I found this depressing. Eugenio’s struggle seemed all too real. It didn’t help to see another repeat of Robert and the red sweater which always brings a lump to my throat.

And when I said that Guido seemed odd yesterday, boy, was I ever wrong! Guido is mentally ill and obviously very dangerous. I loathed the fact he tried to make Hermosa the guilty party. And while I knew Gabi and Dani were sad, I did think they overreacted a tiny bit. Now I’m even more upset at Guido as he made me criticize my favorite couple. Blech.

“He calls her "mamá" in his grief”. Too little too late Axelrod.

For the positive, the make up was incredible. Everyone looked amazing. Kudos to the makeup artist.

“…he knows he is in a better place: in a boat in heaven navigating between the clouds”. Sounds lovely, doesn’t it?

“Eugenio remembers that he proposed to Blanca with a three chocolate cake in addition to the ring. Blanca said yes!” Diamonds and chocolate, how could she refuse!

Jarifa, thank you for carefully crafting this marvelous summary. And in record time!

Diana

Diana, Guido is troubling to say the least. His presence reminds me of “Aunt Ana” who kidnapped and abandoned Juan Pablo at the orphanage in the first season. Sometimes I forget that this whole story rests on the twisted actions of a mentally ill woman. Are we to have another threat of some sort from within the family?

I also agree that Dani and Gabriel “overreacted a tiny bit.” For two adults, they are a little too childlike for my tastes some times.

That image of Canuto in a boat “navigating between the loads” was perfect, wasn’t it? I could picture it. The writers continue to impress me.

Well, whatever is in store, I am looking forward to Monday.

Thanks, Jarifa. I appreciate the your background on the costumers. Like Diana, your whiskers crack made me laugh out loud.

Ugh now I'm afraid Guido will try to trigger a miscarriage.

Anyone see the Mi Marido commercial with Gabriel Soto in it?

Seems Susana assumed Julieta's role of challenging Imelda.

Jarifa, thanks for your comprehensive account of last night's action. I saw parts of it, including Guido's assassination of the bear. He's trouble, for sure. Sorry I missed the Catarina section--I have a hat I decorated for another event that would be perfect for the Catarina look.

Other recent recaps included a reference to Dona Maria mole. I've used it several times and like having it available. Sometimes I get chicken enchiladas with mole sauce instead of the usual sauce.

I've thought about re-watching at least some episodes of Soy Tu Duena. Lots of drama and less of the narco and urban issues.

I hope everyone survives whatever the winter weather is throwing at us!

"Sometimes I forget that this whole story rests on the twisted actions of a mentally ill woman. Are we to have another threat of some sort from within the family?" Oh Jarifa. Of course. Thank you for drawing that parallel.

Niecie, in thinking it over, as terrible as Dave's fate was, I really hope the writers wouldn't "go there" having Dani suffer a miscarriage, pregnant with triplets. Would they?? I am very, very afraid for Gabi.

"Seems Susana assumed Julieta's role of challenging Imelda". Yes, good call.

And yes, I saw the quick scene of Gabe! I loved him in La Verdad Occulta but also in Un Refugio para el Amor where Zuria Vega was his leading lady.

Diana

So Diego, a minor, just one day decides that he wants to "go for it" and make Temo his novio, so comes in an "emergency" intervention to keep Temo from going back to wherever (Toluca?) and just decides to stay and move in just like that and nobody questions it? How did he register in the new school without his parents? And Pancho calmly accepted another kid to raise (a teenager, no less) without a peep, a question, just like that? Maybe he was a terror at home and his parents are relieved he is gone? I say send him back!

Niecie, I agree that your take on Susana taking over Julieta's role as the challenger to Imelda is a good one.

Good to hear from you, La Paloma. I started "Soy tu dueña "once upon a time but was always too busy to finish it. I liked what i saw. It seemed very traditional but there is nothing wrong with that when it is done well.

Anon, it was mentioned once way back when that Diego had the okay of his parents to come to Oaxaca and go to school. I do agree, however, it would be much better if he just went home to Toluca at this point and stayed there. He is a real pain.

Diana, it is interesting but everything I have ever seen by Juan Osorio seems to have a plot where the the worst or nastiest from the underbelly of humanity emerges to challenge characters in a fight to the death or to harm them in some twisted way. I have found his villains far more disturbing and creepy than in other dramedies.

Jarifa, thanks for another great recap and for your cultural explanations as well!

So Guido turns out to be an evil nutjob. I'm not surprised, anyone who dresses like Pee-wee Herman is suspicious in my eyes.

Anon 11:52, thanks for the laugh! At this point, the idea that someone would still think that things need to make some kind of sense in a telenovela is both funny and heart warming. I hope you have a TN beanie and a good supply of suspension-of-disbelief handy. If your beanie has a propeller you might want to do a little dusting before the show because that propeller can really get going sometimes and create one heck of a downdraft.

Hermoso, Lupita, Susana and Pancho, all continue to charm, Clarisa and Casandra are yummy, everybody else is, for me, just wasting oxygen.

:-)

andy

Andy, Yes! Guido has that Pee Wee vibe. Poor Pee Wee!

Jarifa, thank you for your recap.

Thank heavens I can FFWD when Jabba the Hutt starts spewing her rubbish. Otherwise, my TV screen would be in danger. Shut. Up. Imelda.

"I've thought about re-watching at least some episodes of Soy Tu Duena. Lots of drama and less of the narco and urban issues
That's right! Just good old fashioned bad guys and skank ho's. 😀. I might have to tune in when nothing else is on, and I have time.

Yikes...another dreadful villain has reared his ugly head. I haven't watched the last couple of episodes but Guido sounds truly terrifying.

Yes, this!

Susana is shocked as Imelda sits back like a fat cat licking the milk off its whiskers.

What a picture you created with those words, Jarifa. Kudos to you. And after a previous discussion, I did look up Jabba the Hut and the comparison is apt. But I sure hope the actress doesn't read these comments.

Had an all day workshop at church today and driving coming home was extremely hazardous. In fact just getting out of the snow-covered church parking lot was dicey. I love snow, but I love it more when I'm snug and safe inside the house. And those awful ABS brakes. Hate 'em. For me, they actually make driving more difficult.

Now, motoring rant over. Thanks so much Jarifa. And wishing all of you, wherever you are, safe driving and warm, cozy homecomings.

OT: I quite often watch TNs offline. That is, I record them and watch them later. So it's less important for me what time they are broadcast. I recently watched "Cachito de Cielo" which was broadcast at 1 AM, even though the article about it at Wikipedia made me nervous. But it started out very nicely. An absolutely silly, low budget romcom with a lot of TN actors I knew already: Maite Perroni, Esmeralda Pimentel, Cecilia Gabriela, Juan Carlos Barreto, Pablo Lyle, Raquel Pankoswky, Rafael Inclán, and more.
But by half way through its run it started turning nasty, supposedly due to religious opposition to the TN's original story line, and by the end it was barely watchable it was so depressing.

So, once burned, twice shy. I was thinking of recording "Soy tu dueña" but I don't think so now.

I read the brief synopsis on Wikipedia, and some recaps here at Caray -- thank you, doris., for telling me it had been recapped, I hadn't thought to look. Also for your comments: "Soy tu Dueña was .... interesting. We called it STuD." and "Just good old fashioned bad guys and skank ho's."

The "skank ho's" sound interesting, but too much of the other stuff. I'll pass.

:-)

andy

Thank you, Jarifa. I loved seeing everyone in the makeup...so intricate.

I watched Soy tu Diana for Lucero, Fernando Colunga, and the villanese . The snakebite portion of the story brought lots of comments as I recall.

Andy...give Soy tu a try. It wasnt one of my favorites (those are Alborada, Amor Real, and Pasion...all historical novelas) , but I did not hate it.

Wasn't Soy Tu Dueña the one that had another female baddie "Root"(Ruth)? Or am I thinking of a different 'novela?

Doris...I think that there was a sexy "Root\Ruth" who was involved with the bad guy with the big snake belt buckle (that actor was also the servant of Diego in Alborada).

Think there was also a "Root" in Fuego, wasn't there? She had her eye on Yanez, but he was true to Adela (can't remember the character's name).

She ended up with Fernando (Diana Bracho's hub) and met an untimely demise....

Diana

Diana - I looked it up and you are right 👍🏻 ... ""Root" was a baddie in FELS, and not STuD.

We know Diana has a good memory. And besides, FELS starred her telenovio. Not likely to forget the details of that!

Ahh yes, Judy.

Weather baking or showering in the waterfall with his brothers, Eduardo was incredible eye candy for miles :)

I know he had a role in one of the Telemundo TNs recently, but I am hoping he will show up at Uni again.

Diana
