La herencia, #66 Tuesday, "Family trust, once it's broken it all turns to dust"
Sara thinks Pedro is making up the affair
between Deb and Dante, and when he says Aurora told him, she is even more
certain it’s not true. Pedro thinks she should investigate the matter, because
it could hurt them all, but Sara insists they are only friends. Pedro reminds
her Deb’s long string of lovers, Dante could be one of them. But defending Deb is
where she’s an expert.
Mateo reads the DNA test several times and
then says that Juli’s kid is not Juan’s, it must mean it’s his. He wants to go
tell Juan immediately, but Julieta Baby warns him that this could hurt Juan,
Juli has to be the one to admit the truth.
Juan refuses to believe Pedro is an assassin,
but Corni insists, even if he doesn’t have the proof. Juan think his resentment
is making him say these things, Corni realizes Juan is defending his brother
like he has always done, but Pedro is a monster! Bryan tells Corni to calm
down, then Modesto says he was aware of it, too, but had to keep quiet to avoid
even more conflict.
Rosa wants to set things straight with
Adela, about something confusing that happened in the past. Adela reminds Rosa
she accused her of being a thief in front of Catalina and we get a flashback of
her doing just that. So Catalina asks Adela point blank if she’s done this
(young Pedro is listening from behind a door, smiling mischievously). Back to
the present, Rosa says she actually defended her and years later Catalina told
her that it was Pedro who had actually taken that money. Adela is reluctant to trust
her, she still believes Rosa made Cata ban her from the ranch. Rosa apologizes
in French (her version of the language, of course), wants to let bygones be
bygones. They need to stick together now, and Adela can help her with something
very important: her letters to Sev that Deb now has. Adela is impactada.
Rosa has to insist a bit with Adela, saying
it all happened because she was having a fight with Prospi. Adela wants to know
if Don Sev really loved her and Rosa says he was like a wild horse, chasing
after her, always following her and wanting to seduce her. But she never caved,
she just wrote about her feelings in those letters. Funniest scene of the
night!
Alondra and Lucas come in arguing about
Alondra’s jealousy. Rosa intervenes to tell them to stop fighting like Jess and
the chacalo… she stops herself on time because she is trying to make nice with
Adela, but she isn’t fooling anyone. Adela urges her to leave, actually takes
her outside, doesn’t think that Rosa should meddle in another situation.
Pedro is alone in his office, takes a
stroll down memory lane. First he thinks about the moment Aurora told him that
Deb and Dante are lovers. And how she also gave him her part of the refugio.
Back to the present he says out loud that everything will be his. Then he remembers
the several people he tortured in his secret place (his mother and Bryan
included), and he flashes back to a conversation he and Juan had with Sev about
never selling the refugio or altering it in any way. Pedro thinks if they use
the land they could increase their profit, Sev points out that no amount of money
is ever enough for Pedro – at some point in life one has to start enjoying the
spiritual things and place them above the material (says the millionaire). Juan
agrees. In the present Pedro says that he will start using the lands for Campo
Verde, his secret company.
Juan storms in asking him directly if he
tried to kill Corni. So smooth! Pedro calls Juan crazy, how can he trust Corni,
an abuser, over him? Does he truly believe he’s an assassin? Juan reminds him
he stole from the company, so Pedro dares him to tell everyone the truth, throw
him in jail even, if that’s what he wants. He adds that he should have allowed
that woman to kill him when he was a child because he is now ashamed of him.
Juan says he could give his life for him, but he’s no fool.
Pedro says they were together the day of the
shooting and they also had Tadeo with them, he’d never jeopardize his son’s
life. What about the money he stole? Pedro calls it a business error, he
trusted the wrong people, he tried to prove to his father he knew how to turn a
profit, too, but Sev blamed him of being a thief. He never stood a chance, Sev
had already made up his mind about making Juan CEO, even if he’d promised Pedro
the position, too. Juan calls him a liar, asks where that money is now. Pedro
says most of it was lost, but the remaining part is safe, in an account, maybe
Sev or Dante should have mentioned it. Juan says he plans to talk to Dante
again.
Bea tells Sara that Licenciada Julieta is
at the company, but notices that she’s not doing great, so Sara tells her about
Deb and Dante. Julieta arrives and demands Bea to leave the office so she can
speak to Sara. Sara doesn’t like her tone, Juli apologizes, says she is still
under the shock of what happened in the morning. She found out Sara is leaving
the ranch, Sara makes it clear it’s not for her. Juli adds that she will be
invited to her baby shower, it will be a pleasure to have her attend. After
Juli leaves, Sara is actually relieved she’s going away soon.
Lucas realized Alondra didn’t want to be
with him for his therapy, Alondra asks him to call Sara next time he needs
company. Lucas is fed up with the accusations, she is his girlfriend,
not Sara, and she was the one who said she wanted to be with him through this.
Who is putting ideas in her head? Is it Julieta? Alondra says no, but Lucas is
certain, and he feels like they are losing their connection; he would have
never left her alone, had she been in need of his help.
Juan comes to check up on Sara, after the
day she had she should be resting. Sara assures him she’s fine, she went to see
her doctor when she visited Deb. As she caresses her belly again, Juan smiles
from ear to ear and starts talking about their connection and how he realized
ever since their first date in town that they both love literature and using
their words… Wasn’t that the time they ran into Julieta and Mateo and created a
scene at a restaurant? When did they have the time to talk about literature?
I don’t get the reference at all, but then
it becomes clear, when Juan reads to Sara a poem he wrote for her. Are these people
for real? When in the world did Juan del Monte have the time to scribble on a
piece of paper? Two babies on the way, all his brothers are or should be in
therapy, his company is in crisis and he has the time to write poems for his
baby momma? (not to be mistaken with the wife, which I forgot to add to his
long list of problems).
The words are a dedication to their son, a
long metaphor about seeds and planting and land… I don’t know, I didn’t really
get it, no hablo Spanish that well, I’m a simple mind, I guess I can’t connect
through the words like they can (Literature major here!). But Sara is so
impressed, she starts kissing him, who would have known poetry could get you
this far? Page all the nerds, all hope is not lost!
But then Sara pushes him away, apologizes
for her outburst. Juan says their love doesn’t have to be forbidden, she has to
allow him to prove the kind of father he can be. Sara gets a text letting her
know she has to go fetch Deb, so they have to cut their moment short.
It’s night time. Sara and Dante have
brought Deb to the apartment, but Deb wants to go back to the ranch. Sara says they
can’t stay there anymore, because she is giving up her inheritance. Also, she is
having a baby with Juan, too, and there is no more place for an expensive crib
in the living room. No, she doesn’t actually say this, but she might as well,
because Dante and Deb probably stopped listening after she mentioned giving up
all that money.
Dante says goodbye, after reminding them
the cops are coming the next day to take Deb’s declaration – they should
refrain from talking if he’s not arrived yet.
When Dante is gone, Deb asks Sara to
explain her better her decision. Sara repeats she is going to be a mother. But
Deb thinks this means she deserves double the money, or has Juan rejected the
baby? Sara explains she is the one who decided to leave, she thinks Deb is just
too much, so she decides to ask how long she has been Dante’s lover.
At the company, Mateo comes to talk to
Julieta, he offers his help to convince Juan to take her on a honeymoon.
Julieta thinks it’s not the right time, Juan is very busy now and Sev’s
birthday commemoration is approaching. Mateo says he only wants to stop the
fighting between them, he also decided to start doing Bryan’s job. Julieta says
he is the patron, but Mateo doesn’t care about that. He asks if the baby is
doing OK, then wonders if he can touch the belly. Julieta reluctantly agrees
and Mateo kneels to tell Severianito that everyone loves him and is looking
forward to meet him. Juan witnesses the scene and asks if everything is OK.
Mateo explains he just wanted to talk to
the baby, and Juan is not upset, he likes the fact that Mateo is getting close
to his nephew. Julieta also adds they’ve been talking about their honeymoon and
Mateo explains he wants to take Bryan’s place, they need to have someone in
charge of the farm work. Juan realizes he had so many thing on his mind
earlier, he didn’t even think about talking to Bryan (luckily, he has time for poetry,
it’s all about the priorities!)
Julieta Baby arrives to see Mateo and
Julieta invites her to the baby shower. Mateo asks if he could come, too.
Rosa is doing her vow renewal invitation
list (and there is the Corcuera family, who are always mentioned in novela land
when rich people plan invitation lists, but we never get to meet them – must be
the Kennedys of Mexico).
Bertha brings her some tea and warns her
that she will soon stop working for her because she is about to get married to
Modesto. Isn’t he a bit long in the tooth, Rosa asks? Besides, shouldn’t they
date for a couple of years first, marry some five years later? Bertha insists
it’s the right moment, Rosa realizes she will have to find someone else to help
her find the letters. Bertha tries to shut her up, because Prospi just showed
up behind them, but Rosa mentions the letters again.
They try to fool Prospi by saying that the letters
belong to Bertha, who left them in Santa Catalina. Since she is now getting
married to Modesto, she has to get them back, because they would prove she’s a
descarada. Haha! Prospi asks more questions, Rosa continues to spin her lies,
saying the letters are placed in a cheap box and she knows that because Bertha
showed them to her once, because they are good friends and she knows all of
Bertha’s secrets. The two women hug, Prospi offers to go to Santa Catalina to
fetch them. Oh, no, both women scream!
Sara tells Deb Pedro told her about Dante.
Deb calls him a liar, he’s just saying this to harm her, but Sara doubting her
is very hurtful, especially after this brush with death. Sara replies that she
is hurt, too, because of her mom always getting involved with married men. Deb
resents the accusations, she is a free woman, if she is Dante’s lover that’s
her problem. And Sara can think whatever she wants! How can she believe Pedro
over her, and how can she care more about being Dante’s lover than whoever
killed her. Sara apologies, Deb calls Pedro a vile man and Juan is no better,
he will never give Sara any of the things that she deserves, like divorcing
Julieta. She needs to go fight for her inheritance! Sara says no, she even
stopped the will contestation. Deb can’t believe Sara gave up after having gained
so much terrain, but Sara cares more about her peace of mind and her baby.
Then she asks Deb if she remembers what happened
and Deb flashes back to the moment she assumed Dante sent her the bottle. She
is sure it was Dante, but she doesn’t say it, she accuses Prospero instead,
could he have been capable of this?
Corni and Bryan talk about Pedro being very
dangerous, they have to find a way to fight this guy. Sal asks Bryan to go back
to work, urges Corni to stop causing problems, for his dad’s sake. Sal is waiting
for Paloma to arrive, thinks that maybe Simon didn’t allow her to come. Paloma
arrives in a hurry, she can only stay to sing, Simon doesn’t know she’s here.
Sal doesn’t like this.
Rosa asks Prospi if she can take some money
from the Juan’s loan to organize the baby shower. Prospi reminds her their
trial hasn’t even started yet and they need that money for their textile
factory, but Rosa insists. Their daughters arrive and Rosa goes to hug Julieta,
tells her the baby shower is as good as ready, they will have an avocado theme
(wonder where they could find the decoration… oh, wait, the ranch is already an
avocado themed art exhibit). Jess is unhappy her mom keeps ignoring her, Rosa
explains she spent a lot of time talking with Adela today, that’s why she wasn’t
around. Julieta gives everyone the good news that Sara finally left the ranch
and gave up the inheritance. But Deb is awake and might convince her to go
back.
Simon wants to eat, asks Adela to go get
Paloma. Then Lucas comes down and tells him Alondra is jealous of Sara, he’s
sure Julieta filled her head with ideas. But he’s doing well in therapy. Adela
comes back to say that Paloma is not home. Simon is displeased.
Now in her bed, Deb says she can only think
of Prospero as the person who could have done this to her, especially after
their fighting over the boutique and the wording of the note. Sara urges her
not to accuse someone who is innocent, they absolutely need to find out the
truth, but they need to be sure!
Someone calls the door, so Sara leaves her
mother alone. It’s Juan, who instead of hello says he can’t live without her
and their son. He can’t lose her, and he knows she loves him, too. He asks if she
plans to leave the company, too, but Sara doesn’t want to, unless they don’t
need her anymore. Juan says they will always need her at the company and goes
in for another kiss, but is interrupted by the doorbell. This time it’s Pedro, Juan
tells him he just came to see if Sara or Deb needed anything. Sara asks them
not to fight here, Pedro asks to see Deb, just for a moment. Sara takes him to
her mom’s room. Pedro pretends to be happy Deb is out of the hospital, thinks
Sara should go be with Juan, he’s all alone downstairs (how considerate of
him).
When they are alone, Deb calls him a
desgraciado mentiroso, how could he tell Sara about her and Dante? But Pedro is
done playing, he wants to know how she managed to lie to his father about Sara
for so many years.
Corni introduces Bea and Paloma to the bar
clients. The girls show up on stage and invite Dulce to sing with them.
The Milan family is having tea, Bertha is
touched by such a beautiful family portrait. But Prospi is not in a good mood,
he’s afraid of Deb’s actions now that she’s awake. Rosa thinks when she finds
out Sara gave up on everything she will go back into a coma. But Prospi looks
very concerned.
Back with Juan, Sara assures him she doesn’t
want to keep him away from their child, but Juan is afraid she will do just
that. The baby will know he is his father, but she wants to raise him away from
Santa Catalina. Juan says he only wants to protect them, like he was trying to
protect her when he got those threatening messages. Sara still can’t understand
why he didn’t tell her about it at the time, Juan is sorry for that, but is
happy she never left the ranch as he asked back then, because having her close
helped her protect her. He felt terrified when he thought she’d die.
Sara asks if it was truly Victorio who
wanted to harm her. Juan says they found the phone that sent the messages on
him. But what if someone placed that phone on his body?
Still with Pedro, Deb accuses him of
becoming unhinged because of his hooker of a mother’s return. This infuriates
Pedro, he grabs a pillow and places it over Deb’s face briefly. Then he removes
it and says referring to Juan and Sara “let them come, so everybody can find
out Sara is not Severiano Del Monte’s daughter, but Dante’s!” Ay, caray!

As always, I love our debates more than I'll ever love the show, I don't remember watching a novela in recent history that had so many possibilities and speculations going around. As we are getting close to the finish line things appear to get even more convoluted, so who knows what awaits us ... I'm working late today, also, not sure I can drop by later, so enjoy the recap and catch you all soon!
Let's not forget about Crazy Simon getting crazier!
Steve Boudreaux
The secondary name (or whatever it is called) for this telenovela is "Un Legado de Amor" which I highly question....where is the love? Oh, right, love for money. My suggested subtitle is "Quererlo Todo" because that is what Dante, Deb, Pedro, Rosa and Juli want.
Bless her heart, Debs is just freaking out that she's not back on the hacienda.
I was appalled that Simon asked Adela to go upstairs to tell Paloma dinner is ready. Really? Why not do it yourself? Or send Paloma a text? Good grief. Adela works hard enough all day long --- on her feet! --- without having to run upstairs and back down just to give a message. Rant over.
It will be interesting to see how Julieta Baby's plan to "out" Juli's lie about her baby's father will play out. Right now this is what keeps me watching. I am so over all these other characters.
First of all, I remembered someone else said that Dante's family might be fake, but I was too tired to check and I forgot to write it. Sorry, Susanlynn! That makes two of us!
Other people have said this, but now that Sara's pregnant Juan's decision doesn't make any sense. He married Julieta for the baby, but Sara also has a baby, so... Shouldn't he and Julieta divorce and propose to Sara, since he loves her? I hope he finds out that Severianito/Matea (did we learn the gender?) isn't his soon. I have a feeling it will happen before #70.
Rosa is so stupid. She needs money but wastes it on baby showers and other things that are of minimum importance. I wish Prospie sees the letters soon.
Speaking of baby shower, why is Julieta inviting people she doesn't like to it? To "show off" or what? She hates Sara and Julieta Baby but still invited them. Ugh!
Since Sara isn't Severiano's child, she and Juan (+ the other 4 brothers) aren't related at all! Yay!
Deb will find a way to shut Pedro up for a bit. Drama, drama!
Thank you again, Adriana!
So does Pedro believe Sara doesn’t know about her parentage or does he believe she’s a conwoman??? I am sure Simon will believe the latter when he finds out.
Mateo talking to Juli’s belly was just weird, but kind of funny. I get it, it’s his kid but it still looks odd… and Juan of course has no qualms with it.
I actually laughed out loud when Juan showed up at Sara’s saying he couldn’t live without her! Dude you haven’t seen her since earlier that afternoon and wouldn’t have seen her again until tomorrow, you poor thing!!!
I still don’t buy Prospi as a suspect but I will hand it to the writers, they are doing a pretty good job of selling each suspect as potentially guilty. The only downside is viewerville may be loosing a little interest during the suspense? Or maybe it’s just me? I mean after watching Pedro torture and kill mommy, worrying about Modesto getting discovered, and hearing about the kill Sara’s baby plot; I don’t have much emotional energy left to worry about one little unsuccessful poisoning….
Dulce is part of the act now??? ROFL
As for last night, finally Juan is being told to his face what a dangerous man Pedro is and finally confronting the jerk, but, come on, he had to know already and probably didn’t want to have to deal with it. If Rosa knew he was a thief from the time he was a kid, he had to know. So, even Severiano knew Pedro was all about the $$$$. Pedro is a first class BS’er on top of being a thief and a murderer. He sure gave Deb a good scare with that pillow.
I hope Rosa gets a good anvil commensurate with all of the damage and heartbreak she has caused. She is planning a pre-babyshower? A chance for more $$$$? A well aimed chancla isn’t enough for her anvil.
Alondra is turning into a *itch just like her other two sisters and her mother.
Deb only sees only $$$$$$ dancing in her head?
Yay! It looke like we will get more entertainment at the cantina tonight, if I am so lucky!
That is all for now.
.
Uh, oh, Simón doesn’t know Paloma is performing. Do I get to cover another one of his tantrums tonight?
Now I am done.
The mystery of the bottle poisoning continues. So far, only three people have killed or tried to-Dante, Juli and Pedro. I think it’s one of them, and leaning towards Juli.
Yes, Jarifa, I agree Simon is going to flip out tonight! I’m surprised Adela is still working there. Sal thinks his brother needed to be rescued but his true love is ok staying there! Brayan should want his mother away from there too.
I am so ready for Juan to find out the baby isn’t his. And the true character of his wife and brother.
Liz
Wow, Pedro is rapidly deteriorating as he hallucinates and remembers his reign of terror. I am curious about what weighty anvil the writers forged for Pedro.
Gee, Modesto thought it wss a good idea not to say anything about seeing Pedro torture and kill his mother . Really ? My crush on Modesto in his man!y apron is officially over.He has kept too many secrets .
Hmmm....Juan had the time and talent (?) To compose a poem for Sara , Well, my high school French teacher was an older unmarried lady who also taught me Latin and English lit. She mostly had us memorize French poems and songs . The one I recall , I will translate into English :
" I like you, I love you, What more do you want ?" That sentiment seems to suit Juan's feelings .
What is up with Rosa suddenly wearing scarves on her head indoors ?
I especially enjoyed your dry comment on Sev telling Pedro “at some point in life one has to start enjoying the spiritual things and place them above the material (says the millionaire)”.
When Juan was confronting Cornelio and Modesto, why oh why didn’t Modesto say “I SAW Pedro killing your mother”! And of course, Bryan remains tight lipped. So frustrating!
Rather than clarifying matters, each episode brings up new questions for me. For instance, “Rosa says he was like a wild horse, chasing after her, always following her and wanting to seduce her. But she never caved, she just wrote about her feelings in those letters.” I went from thinking Juli is Sev’s to be swayed by this in seconds flat. I don’t believe he pursued her at all, but think she was obsessed. It’s just a question of whether or not they had a physical affair. We saw them kiss but can’t be sure what went on behind closed doors.
At least Juan and Sara acknowledge their love. But all is still a mess.
I am also “enjoying the endless possibilities” Jarifa. I can’t wait to tune in each night. This still has my complete interest.
Adriana, thank you for this wonderful summary.
Diana
In situations like this when one sibling has been mostly fooled by another it is almost always the last revelation in the story and Pedro will be the last of the villains to fall. Juan will be devastated.
No, we don't know the sex of either foetus and this would not matter to Juan or Sara. Rosa would definitely make a big deal of Juli's being a boy if that were the case. I wonder if either she or Juli would be upset if it were a girl. Prospero seems content with having three daughters. Salvador doesn't voice any disappointment at not having a son. It does, however, feel weird that nobody has even suggested finding out and that we haven't seen Juli having an ultrasound to find this out, either.
As for the poisoning, rat poison is so commonly available that anyone can obtain it and use it as a weapon. Julieta is a logical suspect, though, because of her motives, proximity, and the fact that women are more likely than men to use poison as a murder weapon. Pedro did here, however, because it was a karmic punishment for an egg donor who had no right to call herself a mother.
As far as Sara's paternity goes we flies on the wall know she was completely in the dark about this as was Severiano, who sent child support money. I wonder where Deborah has that money or what she spent it on. We know that Modesto often took care of this task, so there is a person who can corroborate this. Sev did visit Sara even if it wasn't regularly or frequently enough by our standards. That Pedro is doubting this is all about the escalation of his madness and Sara's breaking of his delusions of a relationship with her.
Of course, Simon won't believe this even when and if Modesto tells him otherwise.
More later.
Must run in the family genes of being Buji & EVIL.
UA: Confident that Dante the Looter, Buji Julieta & Psycho Pedro will NOT be among the living. Those Karma anvils are going to be massive.
God forbid if Televisa brings this expletive back for a 2nd Season because we might see Crazy Simon increasing the Body Count.
Diana: Modesto is a WEAKLING COWARD!
Steve Boudreaux
We, including myself, are all screaming at Modesto to tell someone that Pedro killed his mother, dug her grave, and unceremoniously kicked her into it.
However ... who would he tell? Juan? Would Juan believe him? San Juan-who-is-in-denial?
The police? Yes, Modesto could show them the grave. But Pedro would soon find out who ratted him out and Modesto's own life then would be in danger. And this is why Modesto is keeping quiet. Absolute terror for his own life and maybe his son's.
So while I reeeally truly want Modesto to do something, at this point, he fears for his own safety and life now that he knows what a monster Pedro truly is.
And for that, I am going to cut him some slack.
And worst case scenario, Pedro's anvil comes to him for some other crime and nobody ever knows about Aurora. (Nooooo!!!)
I was frustrated Modesto didn't speak up but that doesn't mean my heart doesn't go out to him. Surrounded by Cornelio, Sal and Bryan (listening from a distance) last night) would have been the best time for him to speak up. Juan would still likely have been angry and unbelieving, but if Bryan HAD piped up and told of his torture, it would have given him pause.
Modesto has suffered terribly, deteriorating right in front of our eyes. I understand his fear of reprisal. Yet, he surely has thought Pedro will likely kill again and I'm sure he doesn't want that on his conscience.
I am hoping Modesto confides in Berta and perhaps they can come up a plan. I know I can't!
Diana
Urban, I do think that Julieta (and Rosa) would be disappointed if the baby was a girl. Wasn't Juli the one who said they're going to name HIM Severianito? (Also, what an awful name. And such a long one too.)
doris, I agree with your thoughts. I, too, was screaming that he should have went to the police, but I can understand why he didn't. I really hope that the worst case scenario isn't true. It'll be awful!
It's too bad this story doesn't have a fully honest cop. I don't think we know enough about the one that arrested Brandon and let him go after the display of evidence and that little bitch's confession.
Rosa keeps spinning her tales. Who knows what the truth is?
I need a beanie, but I must say I'm enjoying all the characters. The writers have given everyone, even Alondra and Jessica, a little meat.
Julieta has selfishly poisoned Alondra's mind about Sara and Lucas. She knows Lucas sees Sara as a sister. My take is Alondra is vulnerable to this because she fears Lucas can't do "it" with her, not just cause he was almost raped but because he's not hot for her.
Susanlynn, ITA about Deb without all her makeup and hats. She is looking vulnerable. It must be all she can do to keep calm in front of Sara with her giving up Sev's money. Dante and Deb have spent Sara's whole lifetime scheming to get Sev's money.
Sev was chasing Rosa? I think not. Dream on, Rosa.
Doris, I was annoyed too that Simon asked Adela to go upstairs to get Paloma for dinner. Adela could get a lesson from the maid Florence on the "The Jeffersons," who would've told George Jefferson to go get her himself. Simon is usually good with the servants though, so like Jarifa I fear this is setup for a Simon blowup.
This episode could have been entitled " Wild Horses." First, Jul sends the untamed horse toward Sara. Then, Rosa shares her tale that stallion Sev pursued her . yes , I am sure .
My second favorite part of this episode wss the avocado themed baby shower . I think the writers are playing with us. How would one decorate for that theme?..pink and blue avocados ? Avocados dressed as babies ? We know what's on the menu
