La herencia #77 Wednesday 10/19/22 Another Valuable PSA: Don't Poke the Bear Unless You are a Bear Yourself--OR-- Time to Get Going While the Going is Good
Labels: herencia
There were so few light moments, shall we begin there? I loved the dozens of roses and Juan’s delighted school boyish grin when Sara called him. Mateo and Lucas cooking together and Lucas’ oh so obvious attempts at trying to convince Pedro he is on his side. Pedro’s “Mother Teresa of Calcutta” had me smiling. Rosa’s clothes are improving to the point the rose shirt and black pants was the most fashionable outfit she has worn to date.
On a far more serious note, Sara comforting Juli who not only tried to ruin her life but kill her and her unborn child was humbling. Forgiveness in the midst of madness.
“Mateo tells him he can make fun all he wants but at least he hasn't wanted to be Juan's shadow for his whole life” was a small but significant strike against Pedro. Well said. Next, the inexplicable. “Simón is not happy with that, her continuing to be a lawyer, and her friends”. How dare Paloma practice at what she worked so hard to achieve! And as for friends, of course she should give them up. Simon has no friends, so why should she?
Even as the evidence against Pedro continues to mount, he finds another victim, a gentle soul who deserved to live longer and die peacefully.
I wish Prospi had taken time to process everything that Juli told him. Casting Rosa out of the house into the street was the action of a man who has not yet accepted that he himself is guilty of what he has charged Rosa with. I hope their final chapter has not been written.
I expect there will be more sadness and yes, even more death. Jarifa, your superb writing has been the light that has carried us through the darkness, and I am so appreciative for all you have done. Thank you.
Diana
Augustin definitely poked the bear and Modesto is doing the same. Moving back into the ranch and close to Pedro is crazy, I don't know what he plans to do, "keep an eye" on him?
I was cheering for Sara when she told Juan to watch the video immediately and get this over with. But of course San Juan had to "respect" Dante's wishes, a man who betrayed him and lied to him and his family their entire lives. Wanna bet that the box misteriously dissappears before Juan can get back to it?
Julieta choosing to tell Sara the truth but not her family makes no sense. She doesn't want her last months to be a constant pain, but how will they feel when they realize they were spending their last moments with her and weren't even aware of it? I'm glad Julieta explained why she's not seeking treatment, it makes sense. I don't think she deserves such a big punishement, they should have locked her up in the Manicomio for a while, while Mateo raised their child and once out, she should have had to work to regain everyone's trust... instead, she's dying, nobody knows about it, but they still accept her with open arms back into the Del Monte family. I was sure Prospi would protest, but with the paternity secret being discovered, he'll have bigger worries.
More later!
Okay, Modesto , your silence has allowed Pedro to kill again ..poor, old Augie. I was shocked that the writers went there . I expected that Deb would be Pedro's final victim .
I still am stunned at how different Rosa looks.
More later .
Poor Prospi: finding out that Scumbag Seve's the biological father of Buji Julieta was too much.
Plus RIP Nosy Agustin. I KNEW the second he was confronting Psycho Pedro, it was NOT going to end well.
Adriana: Gut feeling that Prospi & Buji Rosa end up together somehow. I like her black hair.
Diana: Gullible Paloma telling Crazy Simon where to shove it was 🤔

I just love this sentence--- "Deb drops by Rosa's house to enjoy the hard times that Rosa is going through and her own triumph. "
So perfectly stated Jarifa.
"Juli shows up at Sara's door to tell her everything she does not know: the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth"
Did anyone else feel cheated when Juli left out that tiny detail about being Sev's bio-daughter?
Rosa doesn't know that Prospi now knows Juli is not his bio-kid. So does she think Debs will keep news that to herself? Gah.
This whole scene was worth it, just to see the cara de impactada look on Debora's face. We have never seen her struck speechless and I had to laugh.
Run, Paloma, RUN!!! Simón is exhibiting classic controller/abuser behaviors. Men like that do not change, no matter what telenovela writers want us to believe. RUN!!!!! Divorce him asap!!!
Not Don Augustín!!!!!!! Pedro should burn in hell.
I can’t imagine how Modesto goes from terrified of Pedro to confronting him directly AND moving back in to the house to personally keep an eye on him….. but I am not going to ask. I am just going to grab my beanie as Doris suggested….
Lucas is an equally bad secret agent
Just hearing Henry’s voice message for 10 seconds reminded me of how much that character annoyed the crap out of me! Lol I too can’t believe Juan would choose to honor Dante’s request!!! Stupid stupid stupid
I have to wonder if this is an accepted norm in Mexico. I had a cleaning lady for several years, both she and her husband were from Mexico. She worked part-time, so she contributed financially to the family, but when they finally bought a house the deed was titled in her husband and their two sons' names. I confirmed it online (public records here are online). So, who knows?
Diana, "Simon has no friends, so why should she? " Exactly. It sure looks like Paloma is having buyer's remorse but is increasingly open to "returning" old Simón. Loved her steely look when she was talking to him. The Simón part is so well-written because Simón really doesn't have a clue that he could be doing anything harmful. He seems genuinely confused he has been so culturally brain-washed.
Adriana, "I was cheering for Sara when she told Juan to watch the video immediately and get this over with. But of course San Juan had to "respect" Dante's wishes, a man who betrayed him and lied to him and his family their entire lives. Wanna bet that the box misteriously disappears before Juan can get back to it?" ITA. They spent way too much time showing us how Juan was locking Dante's box up.
Susanlynn, "Okay, Modesto , your silence has allowed Pedro to kill again ." No truer comment. Modesto better have his head on a swivel at the hacienda. Also, Pedro has three days to add to his body count.
"Plus RIP Nosy Agustin. I KNEW the second he was confronting Psycho Pedro, it was NOT going to end well." You and me both, Steve.
doris, thanks for the info on property ownership. If that is the custom, it again puts women in a subordinate position. Like I should be surprised . . . "Not Don Augustín!!!!!!! Pedro should burn in hell." Yep, and that murder was cold. It looks like Pedro likes to be up close and personal in his kills. He is truly a psycho but will Juan EVER smarten up???
Darcy, I" too can’t believe Juan would choose to honor Dante’s request!!! Stupid stupid stupid." Some how the choice of "stupidity" based on honoring the wishes of a missing man rather than doing what is logical to maybe even save him, is beyond me. They do not know he is dead yet no matter what his instructions were. They have not seen his body. Frustrating.
Why didn’t Juli tell Sara about she and Pedro plotting against her. She could have left out her part in the attempt on the baby. But Sara needs that info. And I didn’t think it was up to Juli to tell her dad he wasn’t her bio dad. That’s Rosa’s job
Modesto moving back is crazy, and Sara too. Just make it easier for the killer to get you. And now two more lives have been lost because Modesto kept quiet.
It looks like Tadeo is going to be a spy for Pedro. He could even lead someone to Pedro. If Pedro wants Sara, or anyone, in his torture chamber Tadeo could bring them.
There’s a lot to discover and only three more episodes. I think some things will never be found out. Like the wine and the loose horse. Maybe even the truth of Don Augusto’s death.
I am on the edge of my seat nightly! Even though I’m not crazy about any of the characters.
Liz
Mateo tells him he [Pedro] can make fun all he wants but at least he hasn’t wanted to be Juan’s shadow for his whole life.
He [Augustín] finds it difficult to believe that Pedro can call it an hacienda when he spends his days sitting in a chair.
Don Augustín was one of my favorites. He made me laugh and always talked too much (hurling the story forward). I know there has to be a sacrificial lamb in TNs, but dang.
Who sends a photo of a dead person to announce that the person just expired. This alone should tell Juan that Pedro did it.
Simón, you bossy bastard!
You go, Paloma! With your suitcase.
The Simón part is so well-written because Simón really doesn't have a clue that he could be doing anything harmful. He seems genuinely confused he has been so culturally brain-washed.
Jarifa, ITA. This PSA is deeper than I thought it would be.
Yep, the safe is going to get cracked. Pedro probably knows the combo already.
I don't get why Juli told Sara about her illness and not her family.
For some reason last night, I noticed the furniture in the mansion. There's a piano, with a music sheet on it. I don't recall anyone ever playing the piano.
The absolutely sadistic way that Pedro killed Don Augustin says that Pedro could become a serial killer if he isn't stopped ASAP. Of his victims only Dante was in any position to stop him from his other illegal activities, so the torture of the other three was gratuitous and possibly the result of his self-hatred. There but for Severiano and Catalina he would have been poor and possibly died an early death at the hands of Aurora. I still call her death justifiable homicide.
As for Deborah accusing him of killing Dante (whose body should be found tonight) that was just a lucky shot in the dark. Deborah knows that Pedro isn't stupid but also knows by now that he is a powder keg with a lit fuse. However she isn't smart enough to realize that accusation does not equal proof. She has gotten away with scamming others for quite a while and must think she's bullet-proof. She is as emotionally sadistic as he is physically sadistic.
Adele and her family will be crying tonight.
Good point, Niecie. I wonder whether the piano belonged to Catalina's family.
As for Juli, I don't think she had made any decision for or against telling her family about the cancer. She may have backed off saying anything about it because of Prospero's reaction to the truth of her paternity. I think he will come to his senses and realize that he is her father in every proper sense and that his current reaction was about Rosa's betrayal. Beyond that I am not prepared to predict whether she will tell them about this now or they will find out about it after she dies and they find an envelope.
It would be absolute madness for Sara to move back into the hacienda now, but... plot necessity for a bang-up finale.
I think he will go after Sara or Deb . Will Juan have to kill Pedro to save Sara or Deb?
The writers have certainly peppered a lot of surprises into this show.
He is capable of killing Juan out of envy of his being head of the family, head of the company, the man Sara loves, and the survivor of their mother's abuse.
Niecie, I agree also that "Don Augustín was one of my favorites. He made me laugh and always talked too much (hurling the story forward). I know there has to be a sacrificial lamb in TNs, but dang." I, too, was hoping it wouldn't be him. Rafael Inclán played the patriarch in "Mi marido tiene familia" (one of my all-time faves) and he was humorous but charming there also.
Urban, with three episodes left and a clearly emboldened Pedro, I totally expect him to go after bigger and bigger targets. I agree that his biggest target would be Juan but making Juan suffer by killing Sara and their child might be more enjoyable in his twisted mind.
Can't wait until tonight!!!
