La Herencia #80 Monday "And they all lived happily ever after... their secrets did, too!"
“Who wants to die first?” Pedro asks.
He explains to Sara how he killed her
father, Dante, and how he killed his mother, Aurora. Then he goes to Julieta,
who isn’t feeling well and has her eyes half closed, and reminisces about
torturing Bryan and provoking Don Augustin’s heart attack.
At the ranch, Juan thinks they are the only
ones who can stop Pedro, even as Lucas and Mateo insist they need to call the cops
again. Juan is afraid Pedro will kill both women if he realizes he is cornered.
Pedro decides that Sara can chose where she
wants to die. How kind of him. San Juan can’t save them now. Sara asks Pedro to
let Julieta go, she is sick and she never did anything against him. When Pedro
allows Julieta to talk, she screams for help and he says she broke the rules,
so now she has to die. Sara continues trying to divert Pedro’s attention from
Julieta, she is the one he should go against, since she is the one who rejected
him. Pedro says OK, he will listen to her … and grabs Sara, pointing the gun at
her. “Aurora” shows up, encouraging Pedro to kill both women, and he gets
restless, just in time for Deb to arrive, holding a gun with one hand and Tadeo’s
hand with the other (I hope that Tadeo doesn’t believe in reincarnation,
because if the kid lives through all of this, he will have nightmares in this
life and the next).
Deb urges Pedro to drop the gun, pointing
her weapon at Tadeo’s head… Pedro directs his gun towards Deb now, it’s quite
the Mexican standoff (you called it, Doris!). Sara takes advantage of
Pedro’s lack of attention to grab a big log conveniently placed behind the hay
stacks and kicks Pedro in the back (“In the head”! the Patio screams,
almost at the same time as Tadeo yells to warn Pedro). Sara manages to hit
Pedro twice, he falls to the ground, so she and Julieta grab Tadeo and leave,
soon followed by Deb. Pedro stands and runs after them.
Outside they meet the brothers, Pedro is
now pointing the gun at everyone. Julieta almost faints in Mateo’s arms, Pedro
mocks them a bit, just for fun. Juan starts begging Pedro to stop, trying to remind
him of the happy moments they all lived together. Simon mentions Tadeo, everyone begs Pedro to stop, but
all that Pedro can see is Aurora’s ghost looking at him. Juan asks him to let
the others go, since this is between the two of them. He tries to make his brother
remember not only their dark past, but also the life they had with Catalina and
Severiano. Pedro thinks he plans to manipulate him, they all hate him, all he
has to do is decide who to start with… maybe Lucas? And he shoots his younger
brother in the shoulder! Deb screams Pedro’s name and shoots, too, hitting him
straight in the heart (if he actually had one). But Pedro doesn’t seem too
bothered, he keeps shooting towards the others and sees Aurora call for him
to follow her where everything started. He seems to listen because he leaves
running.
Lucas looks really bad and Julieta has
fainted, so in this chaos Deb is left to comfort Tadeo (!!). The boy is sad
because Pedro left without him, Deb says that is the best thing that could have
happened to him (no arguments there). Looking over at Sara one last time she
says to herself that “These are her brothers, I can no longer deny it” and
then leaves for good.
The Millan family arrive for Julieta, who is
now awake. Alondra is with Lucas who feels awfully bad, Bea and Cornelio grab Tadeo.
Pedro is back to “where it all started”.
His gun wound is starting to get the best of him, he holds his hand to his
chest, but he can still see his mother torment him, this time mocking the fact
that he couldn’t kill the women. He asks why the torture and lack of love,
Aurora says they deserved it for always being in her way. But she loves and
hates him just like she does herself, so he has to come with her, not allow the
others to trap him and jail him. She shows him the table, Pedro walks over,
drops the gun, finds the rat poison…
There is an ambulance for Lucas, who talks
as if he were at death’s door. Julieta is taken, too, not before Sara can give
her a big hug. The cops arrive and Rosa urges them to go after Pedro and Deborah.
Mateo encourages Juli to get well, fight for their baby. She says she wants to
live, he says he will give her all his strength, he will fight with her.
For a ghost, Aurora is very realistic, she
even manages to powder the bread with rat poison, encouraging Pedro to have a
bite, he must be hungry. As Pedro start eating, we can actually see that he’s
alone. He grabs his chest tighter, starts screeching, foaming at the mouth…
avert your eyes if you don’t want to have nightmares.
As I wonder if the poison or the gun will kill him first, Juan arrives and sees the bread and his brother convulsing on
the floor. Pedro says he came back to their home, because this is the place where
they were so close, does his brother still love him? Juan wants to call an
ambulance, can’t understand why Pedro poisoned himself. Flashback to them as
kids and grownups, Juan says he loves him… but Pedro can still see Aurora, asks
Juan not to allow her to take him. He asks Juan to forgive him, assures him
that he always protected him just like he’d promised, if he were to be born
again, he’d ask God to be his brother again. He tells Juan that he loves him,
Juan says that he forgives him… Aurora calls for Pedro and he just dies…
Nothing worse than to know what awaits you on the other side! Juan screams in
pain.
Tadeo is with Bea and Cornelio, all of a
sudden realizing that he didn’t know what he was doing before, thinking that
papa Pedro was a good guy. The kid sure snapped out of it fast!
19 minutes in and three months later…
The brothers, Sara, Paloma and Julieta are
all together in the living room, looking at a new portrait of themselves (sans
Paloma, and at first I don’t get it, but then I realize this is supposed to be
a picture of all the Del Monte siblings, bio or not). They talk about Pedro,
they all miss him and wish that things could have ended up differently. Lucas
forgives him (for a moment I even forgot that Pedro shot him, with everything
else that he’s done, this seems like no biggie), everyone else has a few words
to say about him, almost like a wake. They all look bereaved, especially Juan,
they all hope Pedro could find his peace. And Juan adds they should start a new
life now, forget about the past.
And then it’s a new day… the brothers and
Sara arrive at Avocados RUS, smiling and saying hello to everyone (reminiscent
of that first episode). A heavily pregnant Julieta (and presumably still dying,
but looking like the picture of health) hands Sara some documents. Mateo comes
to give her a kiss, Juli has a gift for Mateo, too, a pair of baby shoes with
blue ribbons – it’s a boy! Juan and Sara have some news, too, so they call for all
the employees’ attention: everyone is invited to their wedding! Kiss, kiss and Sara
jumps on Juan, while everybody claps and laugh and laughs and claps! Pretty inappropriate
for a work place, but these people have already seen and heard so much, this doesn’t
even make them blink.
And then it’s wedding day time, Sara is in
a white carriage going towards the church, while Juan waits for her, with
Modesto and a very pretty Bertha by his side. Sara is followed by a huge crowd
of people calling her name and the brothers greet her, while Juan is ushered
inside, he can’t see the bride. Lucas, Mateo and Simon help her get off the carriage
and take her towards the altar. Everyone is still clapping as Sara approaches Juan
(we get a glimpse of Prospi and Rosa together, as in back together and a smiling, carafree Tadeo with his parents, who are probably just parenting together, but who knows).
The priest (where was he when things were
going crazy??) starts his service. Mateo and Julieta have the rings. Juan and
Sara say their vows, promise to love one another, Lucas and Alondra arrive with
the coins (arras de boda), more vows, Paloma and Simon place the lazo de
matrimonio, even more vows and then the priest declares them marido and mujer. “Beso,
beso!” yell the people in church, while Bea sings “Ave Maria!” Rosa
holds on to Prospi for dear life (he doesn’t look all that happy in my opinion),
Alondra and Lucas are together, so are Jessica and Bryan and Modesto and Bertha.
And a lot more kissing! Geez, you’re in church!
Fireworks as Sara and Juan get out of the
church and kiss one more time in front of everyone. Then it’s picture time and
everyone dances and sings in front of the church (and I bet this is the real life wrap
party).
But we’re not done yet!
At night, Sara and Juan arrive in their
room, open a bottle of champagne and I only now notice Sara’s dress which is
very nice and appropriate looking (considering how they dressed her so far, I’m
shocked that her belly and most of her chest are covered). And then it’s time
to get busy and we can definitely see some tongue and whatnot…
Some time later… Mateo and Mateito are
together by Julieta’s tomb (!!) and the change in mood is chilling. Flashback
to Julieta’s death bed: Sara is there (instead of her sisters!), Rosa (“Thank
you her for giving me life” Juli says), Prospi (“Thanks you for being my
dad”). Then Mateo arrives with the tiny baby and Julieta gets to kiss him
and asks Mateo to take care of him (and as much as I hated Julieta through it
all, this moment makes me shed a tear). She kisses her baby one more time and
then she dies… Back to the present we notice Julieta’s tomb, her huge picture
and the fact that she never took the Del Monte name. Mateo promises never to
forgive her and to take care of their baby while she watches them over from the
sky. Quick voice over from Sara talking about enjoying life…
Then the fun part of this finale begins:
… with a voice over from dearly departed
Pedro, who did take one last secret to the tomb with him: he was the one who tampered
with the breaks of the car that killed Severiano del Monte.
Another flashback, this time with Rosa
saying how she was the one who tried to poison Deborah… she only did it to save
her family. She and Propsi have left town, they are somewhere in the world,
happy and in love.
And Deb… or Senora Catia, how she calls herself
now, is trying to pay for a hotel room, but her card is not working. Enter a
man, a new sugar daddy surely, and the guy offers to pay for her, while Juan
speaks about evil and how sooner or later everyone pays for their bad deeds
(everyone but Deb, apparently).
And let’s not forget Simon, who is still a tormented
soul, still remembering the day he failed to save his father… we actually see
how he took Sev out of the car, looked at his phone and put it back in his
jacket as Sev asked for his forgiveness and said that he loved him. And Simon’s
voice over says that this will be the most painful secret that he will ever
have to carry, but I don’t get it, since he already told everyone the truth and
we haven’t seen anything different in this last flashback. Paloma arrives to
help him up and Simon apologizes for all the harm he’s ever done to her. Paloma
promises to always be by his side and Simon swears to be the best man for her,
because he loves her.
Lucas and Alondra are happy to find out their
kinesiotherapy project has been approved, but they will have to move to
Monterey, away from the Del Monte brothers, for work. No worries, at least they
will be together.
Several months later… Sara is pregnant, she
and Juan walk around the ranch, Juan talks to the new baby, Sara tells him his mom
Catalina came to her in the hospital and assured her that she will be a mom one
day. They kiss, and then Simon and Paloma arrive (she is pregnant, too), then
Lucas and Alondra and Mateo with his baby. We understand they are all dressed up
because it’s Mateito’s baptism’s today. Juan remembers Severiano and Pedro (another
flashback to the Del Monte men, the dead and the alive ones, bonding).
And then we are back to the present and
several voice overs about brotherly love, love for one’s land, someone’s true
legacy being love and … POR FIN!
That’s all she wrote!

Your wit and wisdom combined with your marvelous insight in making this a sensational finale. I hung on every single, illuminating word. I loved the title.
“Sara jumps on Juan, while everybody claps and laugh and laughs and claps! Pretty inappropriate for a work place, but these people have already seen and heard so much, this doesn’t even make them blink” had me smiling away. Yes, Sara entwining her legs around Juan’s waist would give jaw dropping pause in most companies, but here? Nopis. Not even a shoulder shrug.
I was afraid Juli was going to die but was hoping she (and we) would be spared. I felt badly, especially when that sweet tiny baby was passed to her to kiss.
Pedro’s ending was inevitable but Juan forgiving him was touching. He did everything he could to protect him but Pedro’s demons could never have been exorcised.
I absolutely loved Sara’s dress. Her hair, makeup, jewelry, everything was perfect. I liked her and Juan’s kissing at the church and how radiantly happy they both were.
I liked that we were left to wonder about Corni and Bea and what their relationship ended up being. So, congratulations to those of you who thought Rosa gave Deb the poison wine. I was glad to see Rosa and Prospi together and happy. And finally, Deb lives to grift another day. I had to smile; maybe not the ending she deserved but…
Finally, to you, Jarifa and Darcy…thank you for guiding us so expertly on this tale of love, hatred, revenge and sometimes, sheer lunacy. The journey was one I was so fortunate to take with you and the wonderful commenters who never failed to have something exciting to say. For your time, your graciousness and your wonderful summaries, gracias.
Diana
Diana: Just as I predicted from the get-go: both Psycho Pedro & Crazy Simon killing Scumbag Seve.
At least my favorite lovebirds Lucas & Alondra are happily ever after 😊 & far away from the cursed Del Monte Mansion.
I'll post my full personal thoughts tomorrow.
Steve Boudreaux
Sara was a beautiful bride. I loved her hair, her dress, everything. That might be my favorite telenovela bridal dress ever.
Looks like Deb gets a "Get Out of Jail" card for shooting Pedro. Who knew she had a gun, or how to use it???
Pedro shot Lucas in the shoulder. Didn't Pedro shoot Juan in the shoulder several weeks prior?
I had to FFWD>>> thru Pedro taking the poison and that whole scene. Otherwise, my guacamole would have not sat well.
I don't understand, either, why Simon still thinks he killed his father and has a secret to keep. Eh, whatever.
And, honestly, I am disappointed Paloma stayed with Simon. His controlling abusive treatment of her sends a wrong message to female viewers because men like that don't just change overnight. It takes a LOT of work and effort on their part, and usually with professional help.
So it was Rosa who poisoned Deb, and now she has a new secret to carry around (after being outed re: Juli's bio-dad). Well we all know she can keep a secret. For years.
Sara's baby bump was a weird shape. Wardrobe dept fail.
I kept thinking last night that this is the only time we have seen Pedro look anywhere near unkempt! His shirt was untucked, he didn’t have the full three piece suit on. I barely recognized him!! It was a stellar performance though, he killed it!
It still bugs me that Juli just got redemption and love and hearts and kisses! I mean yes she dead (right after giving birth it seems how’s that for timing) but she played two brothers, treated Mateo like crap, lied about paternity to trap Juan in marriage, poisoned their avocados and lost them millions of dollars AND tried to kill Sara, and no one has even one little hard feeling? And Mateo still loves her eternally???? Sigh
I can’t say I was right about Rosa cuz I always thought it would be funny if it was her who did it but I never actually thought she did.
The thing with Simon is that he told his brothers he couldn’t call for the ambulance because he had no service and we see in the flashback that he could have called he just chose not to. I disagree that he killed Sev though or had any responsibility for killing him. I can see why he’d feel guilty but I remember from the beginning that Pedro and Juan were only minutes behind Sev and Simon leaving home. They were actually both already in the driveway and headed to their cars when Sev’s car left. If Sev was already dead by the time they caught up to the scene he would have been dead before the ambulance got there even if Simon had called. There’s really nothing Simon could have done to save him.
I liked that Rosa and Prospi reconciled and I would have liked to see the authorities catch up to Dev just as she’s about to hook her new mark. Just as he hands over his credit card to pay for her room Interpole swoops in or something to arrest her and the dude just casually puts the credit card back in his pocket!! Lol that would have been funny!
I was very happy that they finished up the drama quickly so we could have the time for a happy ending and seeing all of the "mysteries" solved.
Diana, "I absolutely loved Sara’s dress. Her hair, makeup, jewelry, everything was perfect. I liked her and Juan’s kissing at the church and how radiantly happy they both were. " It was just what we needed after all of the gruesome Pedro activity.
Steve, it was good other that someone was finally going off on their own like Lucas and Alondra. They were going to Monterrey, if I remember correctly.
doris, "Pedro shot Lucas in the shoulder. Didn't Pedro shoot Juan in the shoulder several weeks prior?" He sure did. Did he practice that particular shot to disable but not kill instantly? LOL I also agree about Paloma and Simón especially after seeing the she was pregnant, too. Yikes!
Simón was an interesting case. At the scene of the accident, he had pulled Severiano out from the wreckage. He looked at his cellphone. Did he really not have a signal? He didn't go and hold Severiano until he saw the rescue arrive. It seemed like he wanted to "look good." Most important, Severiano was asking him to forgive him and Simón never did. That is a heavy burden. Lotsa' luck to my most disliked character next to Pedro.
Deb was perfect in her final role at the hacienda shooting Pedro in the heart. I loved seeing her ready to do what she did best: take advantage of a rich man. Her ending could not have been better. As Diana said "Deb lives to grift another day.". She sure did!
I just spied Matías Novoa (Juan ) playing a journalist in "La Reina del Sur" #3 last night. He looked as good as ever.
The wedding was beautiful, and yes, I saw tongue too! I waited a long time to see Bertha with her hair down. I liked her dress too.
Some characters got away with stuff but at least we know they did it. Deb redeemed herself by saving the girls and shooting Pedro. I’m glad she is free to cheat some other men out of their money!
I think the secret Simon will carry is that he didn’t try to call an ambulance for his father. He looked at his phone and then put it away. He also didn’t go to his dad until he saw the cars coming. Just a guess.
I was disappointed to see Paloma pregnant. Hoped she would give her law practice a priority for a while.
They all miss Pedro! I would be enjoying peaceful family life, which I don’t remember seeing when Pedro was alive!
I really liked the way they did the ending of this show. I was pleasantly surprised with the way everything was “tied up”.
Thanks again to everyone for making a show like this fun!
Liz
Darcy, I was creeped out by that, too. It was as if to say--- "and here is our departed faithful brother Pedro who killed many people including his own mother, shot two of us in the portrait, kidnapped us two sisters and was going to kill us, schemed and almost succeeded in stealing the family business and our home, lied, embezzled, stole Tadeo from his mother, insulted and assaulted the hired help in our home, etc., but he is near and dear to our hearts and we want to remember his good life..para siempre."
Gah.
I recorded this episode and haven't had the chance to watch yet , but I surfed in several times while I was watching " The Voice." It seemed appropriate that Pedro chose to finally take his own life . He was a tortured soul who seemed to be seeking death as he lashed out at others and gradually spun completely out of control . His awful mother damaged him beyond repair . The main PSA in this show seems to be the tragic, long-lasting results of child abuse.
I loved wedding with beautiful , glowing Sara gliding down the aisle between her two hermanos. I loved her gown . Those full skirts were not popular when I got married , but I would have loved to wear that gown.
Loved all the insightful comments .
Have to run. More later.
Those of us who saw the 2022 version of Cuna de Lobos were worried that Deborah would get away with her crimes. I am profoundly upset that she did. She is the sort of woman who gives the rest of us a very bad name we don't deserve. So are Juli and Rosa.
Juli tried to kill Sara after framing her over the poisoned crop. Karma got her with the cancer. The baby looked like a preemie in the deathbed scene but almost like 2-year-old at the wedding scene. Mateo seems to have straightened out so good for him.
Rosa would have done the world a favor if she had succeeded in offing Deborah, but we don't know what happened to Rosa's later relationships with her other daughters. She has not paid for her sins committed against all three of them and against Prospero. This secret will die with her.
Pedro's tampering with the brakes died with him. Simon was not his accomplice and will probably live with the guilt for the rest of his life because he will never know the truth. We were never told if there was even a forensic investigation into the car itself.
We can only hope that Sara will never have to see Deborah again. Was anyone worried that she would crash the wedding?
I was also upset at seeing Paloma pregnant and for the same reasons as everyone else.
Berta looked great with her hair down.
Great performances by all and I predict that Daniel Elbittar will get a trophy for this one.
Bea gave a lovely performance of Ave Maria.
I always think these wedding scenes are the real life wrap party for the cast & crew, too, Adriana. I hope they always have one when these productions end.
Adriana, terrific title for the finale. I don’t think I’ve ever had such an “uh-oh!” feeling about a TN ending before. My faves from last night:
(I hope that Tadeo doesn’t believe in reincarnation, because if the kid lives through all of this, he will have nightmares in this life and the next.)
hitting him in the heart (if he actually had one).
The priest (where was he when things were going crazy??) starts his service.
ITA Sara was a beautiful bride, just perfect. Sara is gorgeous but with all the craziness she was naturally looking frazzled. But last night she was perfectly stunning.
I like that Deb saved Sara (along with Julieta). That wasn't about money, that was about love (and ownership) of her daughter. I'm guessing Deb will be a successful grifter for a long time, till her beauty and quickness fades, and in her old age she will be forgiven by Sara and Juan.
As soon as the rat poison came out, I averted my eyes. I'm sure Pedro's death scene with Juan was well acted, but I just couldn't take this.
Simón knows in his heart he should have returned his dad's "te amo" and should've called 911. He did pull Sev from the car though. As said before, Catalina did little Simón no favors in making him her confidante about the torment Sev was putting her through because that his love-hate thing with Sev will last forever.
When Simón says "perdoname" to Paloma for how he behaved, she said it's behind them and she's glad he changed and she's "libre," presumably to call her own shots. Still, the writers should've showed Viewerville Simón in action supporting her dreams, like opening her own office, after they put so such much time into the machista/controlador storyline.
I always thought that Dante poisoned Deb, so Rosa was a big surprise. If Prospi only knew how much Rosa would do to keep him.
Jessica and Alondra not being at Julieta's deathbed bugs me. It's like Julieta and Sara became best friends. Please.
All around, solid performances by everyone. Sara had the right mix of fight and determination, though she had her share of tears. The heroines that cry all the time drive me crazy.
1.) Doris: Bea did an awesome job performing "Ave Maria" during the wedding of Juan & Goldie Locks Sara. I strongly agree with you that Berta looked BEAUTIFUL.
2.) UA: I did NOT feel sorry for Buji Julieta for obvious reasons (that nutjob pitted both brothers Mateo & Juan against each other; tried to kill Goldie Locks Sara; poisoned the avocados). In my personal opinion, it was good riddance.
3.) Psycho Pedro FINALLY dies: GOOD RIDDANCE too. Eating the some poisoned bread that he shoved down Aurora's mouth.
4.) Wondering whatever happened between Cornelio, Bea & Tadeo ?
5.) Brayan & Jess: AWWWW.
6.) I figured out that Buji Rosa was the one, who poisoned Gold-Digger Debbie. I mean she should've finished the job & we all would've been better off if the Grifter had died, but oh well.
7.) Speaking of the Grifer AKA Gold-Digger Debbie: she's doing her best job of.....being a GOLD-DIGGER.
8.) I hope IF Gullible Paloma doesn't have an automobile accident because Crazy Simon might let her die. Just saying!
9.) Mateo needs to MOVE ON & raise his kid.
10.) It seems everyone on here was disappointed to see Gullible Paloma PREGGERS with Crazy Simon's baby. Let's hope the baby doesn't have those evil genes.
11.) I'm assuming Daddy Dearest Salvador & Adela became a couple based on the opening credits of last night's Gran Final ?
12.) The ONLY characters that I liked: Lucas & Alondra. Move to Monterrey & get far away from the cursed Del Monte Mansion, etc.,
Diana I wasn't moved by Julieta's death scene until I saw the baby. Then I actually started crying because I remembered myself with a tiny baby in my arms... I can't even imagine what woudl be like to have to say good bye.
Darcy, ITA that Juli's love fest was too much, too soon. People didn't even know she was dying and they were already more than willing to accept her with open arms. And what was Sara doing in her room as she was dying? Did Alondra and Jessica have better things to do??
Steve, I was happy to see Alondra and Lucas leave the house. Will Juan, Simon and Mateo all live in the house with their respective families... forever??
Doris, Rosa trying to poison Deb was something I suspected for a while, but if we remember when she did it, it was around teh time she and Prospi were planning their vow renewal. So it was before Deb torpedoed her marriage completely!! And the fact that she didn't feel sorry for what she did, makes me feel like she might have gotten too much of a happy ending, after all.
Jarifa, I was happy they didn't leave all the "good stuff" for the last five mintes, too. And they didn't drag the whole Pedro drama too much. It all actually happened pretty fast, we were spared from seeing any more torture scenes, thankfully.
Urban, I think Deb won't return to see Sara if her "new life" goes well. And by the looks of it, she will do just fine... I know you despise her, but she is the kind of character who almost always gets away with it, because she is being used as a "fun" character - and it's too bad, because people don't need to actually kill in cold blood and torture in order to deserve a severe punishement. People like Deb are most likely to be among us than people like Pedro and the message here is that "you can get away with it."
Doris, I'm pretty sure that was the wrap party, they always use the group scenes at the end, because they can have the crew on screen, too. All those people clapping during the wedding, they were definitely people working on the novela, their smiles were to genuine. It was a nice moment.
Pedro was in the portrait at the end, too? Say what?? I totally missed it, I was so shocked to see Julieta in it, but then I realized she is Sev's bio daughter. Which makes Mateito the one and only true heir to the Del Monte fortune. Hehehe!
I liked Sara's personality, too, she was no pushover, which is something that happens much too often with novela heroines; she was the right amount of brave and a "fool for love".
Steve, Adela and Salvador managed to get married before Deb crashed the ceremony and ruined Prospi and Rosa's vow renewal. So yeah, they are married, even if we didn't see them in teh flashforward, as it only focused on the brothers and the Millan couple.
Adriana, great comments. As crazy as these shows are , they can spark interesting , thought provoking comments on real life issues. Death at the time of a birth , whether it is the mother or the child is heart wrenching . A newborn baby is life affirming , so a death at the time of birth is unthinkably devastating .
I just watched my recording and noticed several things . .....
Everyone at the wedding looked joyful, new, and improved ....Alondra, Jessica, Brayan, Rosa ( who was holding onto Prospi for dear life ).
Bertha looked beautiful with her hair down and wearing a lovely , understated navy blue fitted gown with a peplum. Sara's gown was gorgeous. It had lace cutouts at the bottom of the long sleeves and the bottom of the gown. I wish we would have gotten a view of the back because there was a lace cutout at the waist in the back. Classic and elegant .
I also noticed that we had a lot of folks with darker hair than they had at the beginning of this joyride , including Prospi ,Rosa, and Deb.
Deb had on a brunette wig and NO HAT as she began her new grifting tour. Maybe the hats and squirrel tails were in her suitcase.
I had to fast forward through Pedro's final moments . At the beginning, I had hoped that he would be redeemed through love.
As these shows end , I always think of the words spoken at the beginning of an old tv medical drama "...Man..wonan..birth...death...infinity." That's all folks.
I agree with most of comments already posted. Disappointed in Paloma, seems like an old school end for her. Deb earned staying alive only because she saved Sara and Juli, and at least she's out in the world, working her wiles and not ensconced in the bosom of the family, doing nothing.
Rosa paid a heavy price with Juli's death, so I'm okay with her getting away with non fatal poisoning of Deb.
Pedro was so damaged by his horrific childhood, and mental illness. I do think the writers took it too far, though, with all his business plots against the family, and his sadistic glee in hurting and killing. Dante's death was especially gruesome. Pedro was charismatic and entertaining despite all his badness.
At last ! Hallelujah! Sara didn't wear a skin-baring wedding dress. And her black roots didn't show (much). She was a beautiful bride. Prospero was a bit too casually dressed for the wedding. What was up with that?
Berta , elegant and happy.
Juli - her turnabout was not believable at all. From a wanna be murderer, a liar, elitist, etc. to totally reformed after a short time in a clinic - no way.
But, I was sad for her baby. Motherless children make me cry , almost.
I loved the theme song! It put me in the mood for the show. One of the best novela themes.
Beth S.
I took a hard look at Deborah's face in her last scene. Her days of seduction are numbered because her age was beginning to show.
A huge THANK YOU to Adriana, Jarifa and Darcy for writing the recaps! They were all detailed, witty and wonderful as always!
I also didn't like that Paloma is pregnant.
The Juli storyline was bad writing. It is as if the writers couldn't think of what to do with her, so they decided to "redeem" her and kill her.
I, too, dislike protagonistas who cry all the time.
I liked Pedro's death but the fact that he was in the portrait was a LOL WTF scene.
Deb shouldn't have gotten away.
Overall, it was a ok Gran Final/Por Fin and a telenovela that I never thought I'd finish, but pretty fun anyway.
