Something tells me Alejandro might not be among the living sooner or later. Just saying!
As the boardroom battle rages on, fisticuffs are flying! Gabriela, Icky, and others hear all the yelling and commotion but decide not to call security unless someone from the meeting requests it.
Battling bulls JE and Misael are separated as Fatima yells at JE to calm down. Don Emilio tells the notary that the meeting cannot continue, especially the issue addressing the presidency. Rebeca thinks differently, but Don Emilio tells the muchachita that as long as he is able, she will NEVER run his company!. When the notary replies that a decision must be made, Adolfo points out a clause that provides that if the shareholders are unable to appoint a president, the founder of the company will take over as President until consensus is met! As Rebeca glares, viewerville erupts in a chorus of cheers.
Mati looks for her father, wrongly assuming he is with the “other one”.
At the party, Lucas tells Lupe that he wants to go home to call Mati. Lupe, finally somewhat cognizant of the imminent danger, prefers he wait until they all go home.
At the party, Santi and Renato talk glowingly about Angel. Santi is glad that Angel will be happy being married to Renato. They talk about Rebeca whom Santi knows well now. The further they are from her the better.
After seeing Angel and Renato together, Marisa considers accepting Carmelo. Alma encourages her because before she knows it, Carmelo will propose. Marisa can’t wait so she will be upfront with Carmelo. They can either set a date for the wedding or part ways.
Lovely Loli tells Pedrito that she will soon have a father. Pedrito would give anything to have his parents with him but his sweet face lights up in gratitude that he has so many people who love him.
Rebeca disagrees and says Don Emilio is a sick old man. JE and Fatima lash out in Don Emilio’s defense. Cris requests that the notary appoint Don Emilio as interim President. With that, Don Emilio rises and standing tall, an ear-to-ear grin lighting up his face, declares of course he will accept! When everyone starts to leave, to the patio’s delight, Don Emilio tells Misael and Rebeca that the meeting may be over but he is not done with them!
Diana
Mati thanks Luciano for supporting Lucas. When she asks if he saw her mother and asked for a divorce, Luciano replies that they ARE getting a divorce. Mati thinks her mother didn’t accept that, so Luciano deflects by saying that they didn’t really have the chance to talk. Mati again disses and blames Fatima; it was her fault he ran off her mother…and still, Fatima persists in chasing after him! Luciano tells her those are her mother’s words and she needs to stop telling so many lies! If her mother had proof of anything she would have used it against him. Misguided Mati will make sure her mother has that proof!
Rebeca is upset that Adolfo brought up that clause; she snarls that she could be President by now! Romina worries that Bruno will figure out how she transferred the money, but Rebeca assures her they won’t find out ..if anything is brought up, Romina can just deny everything. Romina looks uncertain.
In his office, Bruno worries that if Misael falls, he will too; he wonders how Rebeca hacked into the Swiss account.
Misael forges on, insisting it was Don Emilio who closed the deal, but Don Emilio’s flashback recalls what happened with crystal clear clarity. If he signed the documents, it was because of Misael’s trickery; he trusted him! Misael denies it as Don Emilio reminds him that as he told him that day, when he finds the document, he will make Misael return all the stolen money and he will turn him into the police! Misael pounds on the desk in anger. Don Emilio asks Misael if Rebeca was his accomplice in getting rid of the documents…were they seeing each other back then? Monica charges that the only victim here is her son and since her father isn’t thinking clearly yet, Rebeca took advantage to blame Misael. Rebeca only wants to separate the family to get the presidency. JE points out to Misael that Rebeca only did what she does best, she betrayed him.
When Monica wants to leave, Don Emilio asks that she does just that; oh and take your son with you!
In the hall, Monica reproaches Misael for trusting that social climber (trepadora). He hisses that she shut up but of course she ignores him demanding he get that zorra out of his life. Misael will do just that! He stalks off and leaves Monica to her own devices.
Rebeca is on the phone with her attorney; she wants JE’s shares. Misael, face contorted with hatred and rage, lunges at her like a wild animal, grabbing her, hands tightly encircling her throat! He appears to start to strangle her with all his might. For once Rebeca looks suitably scared out of her wits. Misael snarls that she will pay…he is going to kill her!
Unfortunately, Romina approaches and screams for help; Bruno pulls Misael away as Rebeca gasps for air. JE, Cris, Fatima, Monica et al arrive at the tail end of this free for all. JE sneers that Rebeca is now all alone; he will take back everything she has taken from them. Rebeca doesn’t let a bit of strangulation deter her; she vows “imbecile” JE is not getting rid of her. Cris swears that is Rebeca that will pay for all the damage she has caused. Romina has Rebeca sit down as she clutches her throat.
Diana
Doris wears Angel’s soft pink blouse beautifully; Sebas doesn’t quite say that but smiles that he likes the color. When Doris comments that Angel is cool, Sebas enthusiastically agrees. He does regret Angel is marrying someone else when she knows JE loves her. When he adds that JE’s downfall was getting Rebeca pregnant, Doris has a flashback recalling Rebeca’s plot. Sebas excuses himself to take JE’s call.
JE tells Sebas that he needs to talk and get things off his chest. Angel enters and listens in silence as Sebas asks JE why he fought with Misael because of Rebeca! Angel’s face falls and she leaves. Completely misinterpreting what she heard, Angel tells Jimena that JE loves Rebeca as he was fighting Misael because of her. Jimena suggests that they may have fought because of something else, but Angel will not listen, she disagrees and intends to stay away from and forget JE. Forever.
Angel rejoins the party as Renato, who is excited about getting married, takes center stage. He is the happiest man on earth. Angel walks to his side and hearing clamoring for “besos”, they kiss. Angel thanks everyone for their kind gesture. In the background, we zoom in on Sebas who has his hand on Doris’ shoulder.
Don Emilio doesn’t think JE should have taken his things out of the office. They don’t know how long Rebeca will head the company. His own health is a concern and may affect him at any moment. JE is satisfied knowing that Don Emilio will now take the reins. After Fatima and Cris give their unconditional support, Don Emilio asks that Fatima return to the hacienda tomorrow (si senor she agrees smiling) and requests Cris be his consultant. JE assures he will make sure Rebeca and Misael won’t do any more harm (as the patio urges JE not to make promises he cannot possibly keep). Don Emilio points out that they need to find evidence of the fraud. Don Emilio can’t remember where he put the document and hopes his memory continues to return. In the meantime, Don Emilio wants JE to take some days off to cool down. Don Emilio declares that the most important thing for him to protect the familia. His familia.
JE talks to a sneezing, staunchly loyal Sebas, telling him how Rebeca can control everyone to get what she wants. A teary-eyed JE declares the only thing she wants is to destroy him and she will get that once Angel gets married tomorrow. There is a split scene where Angel is in her bed looking at her (seemingly one piece) wedding gown. She harkens back to the scene where she thanked Renato for saving her life. “Si” she says to herself, she has made the right decision.
Diana
Adolfo reproaches Misael who denies being responsible since he was only following his grandfather’s orders. When Adolfo tells him to stop lying, Monica, her arm protectively around Misael’s shoulders, snaps that he should stop… he is treating his son like a criminal! When Misael dares him to prove he is guilty, Adolfo retorts that when that happens, it will hurt him to go see Misael in prison. A livid Misael then charges that Adolfo started treating him differently ever since he found out that JE is his son. They continue to argue until Misael tells Adolfo to leave and go with his perfect son. He storms out as a very concerned Adolfo looks after him. Monica spews that Adolfo is not with them, he is against him. Adolfo then asks her if she doesn’t realize that when the evidence is found Misael will end up in prison. Monica throws and shatters yet another fine piece of crystal as I wonder if they have stock in “Replacements”.
Cris haltingly tells Fatima the secret that is now out in the open; Adolfo is JE’s real father. Cris wrings her hands, explaining that it happened many years ago when she and Adolfo were very much in love. When Cris asks for forgiveness, kind and supportive Fatima gently says that Cris has nothing to forgive; she is only sorry Cris had to lose her uncle’s love because of her father. Fatima will always understand her…and love her. Mother and daughter embrace tenderly.
Armando and Gi engage in not so pillow talk. He tells Gi he worries that Doris thinks the worst of him when he is only trying to help her. Gi suggests that he tell Doris the truth…she knows Doris is his daughter. Startled, as he asks how she found out, Gi pulls out the DNA text confirmation. Gi replies that she knows him very well and he doesn’t know how to lie; he was too worried about the girl and there had to be a reason. She happily then realizes they have a daughter. Armando explains that Doris’s mother died but had sent him a picture of his daughter. He was very young and although he didn’t look for her mother, he always kept an eye on Doris and helped her without her knowing. “Tu hija Doris” Gi says smiling.
JE sees that Cris can’t sleep and they talk. He can’t understand how he was so blind and let Rebeca control his life. Cris (again) apologizes for being responsible for JE marrying Rebeca. When she blames herself, JE tells her it was his fault. Because of a night of weakness he is losing everything, including the company. Cris tells him that she and Don Emilio are very proud of him for defending the company. He should never forget that he has his grandfather’s heart and he will accomplish whatever he sets out to do…. he shouldn’t stop fighting. She hugs him as he looks thoughtful.
The wedding day finally arrives.
Diana
At the inside wedding venue, final touches are being made to the tables, china set, topiaries rising. Renato lies to himself that Angel will never regret marrying him.
Mati tells Lucas that she worries about her mother; she thinks her father is lying about Fatima. Lucas offers they play a game but she isn’t up to it.
Brayan and his thugs accost poor Pedrito. The poor child looks terrified as Brayan threatens he had better tell him what videos Lucas plays.
Mati gets Luciano’s phone to look for a picture of Luciano and Fatima. To her (and our) dismay she finds the video Luciano took of Romina and Bruno! Mati recoils, her corneas now irreparably scorched.
At breakfast, Rebeca greets Elena and Santi. Santi is dressed for the wedding and excuses himself, kissing Elena’s cheek. After Santi leaves, Rebeca tells Elena she wants to accompany her to the wedding. (To me, Elena looked distressed although didn’t she invite Rebeca the other day?)
Monica sees drunk as a skunk Misael out like a light, hanging over the couch. She runs to him, petting him like a cat. Monica vows to get even with Rebeca…she will regret being born!
Rebeca arrives at the wedding, wearing a fire red, mock neck dress with a very strange cut-out that reveals part of her chest. Seeing her, Renato is shocked and asks her what she is doing there. Cold as ice, she replies she wanted to witness how he marries someone who doesn’t love him.
Angel is with Santi as Alma presents her with a lovely bouquet of white roses as Angel’s face lights up. Alma hasn’t stopped thinking about her real daughter. Angel gently tells her to think that her little girl is now an angel. Alma agrees…and when God decides, she will be with her. Her musings start to go to a dark place but she pulls herself out of it. Alma hopes the bouquet will bring many years of happiness.
As Angel turns to leave, JE arrives, ostensibly to stop her from getting married. As she turns around his cries of “Angelli” reverberate in her head.
All thanks and credit to my friend for doing masterful justice to yet another eventful episode. I’m thrilled you will be able to see everything from her always sharp, intuitive and wise eyes.
Diana
Hola, Patio.
Thanks Diana (recap) and Jam Master Jay (masterful justice) for a sensational recap of today’s juggernaut show. Holy smokes! The action is in overdrive, and I’m loving every minute of it.
I will admit I was cheering when d. Emilio resumed control of his bidness. I was disappointed they didn’t call Corral. Granted they don’t have evidence, this IS the jurisdiction where hearsay and innuendo are enough to arrest and often convict. FREE PETRA!!!
With everything else going on, the writers decided (in Episode #87!) to play matchmaker with Marisa and Carmelo. QTH?!? The romantic link was introduced yesterday and today she’s issuing wedding ultimata? Ok. Hopefully this will run concurrently and even accelerate Wandiux + Primitovo + Pedrito = Family.
“Misguided Mati” is the kindest, most generous description I have ever read you dole out. To paraphrase my spirit animal Chandler M. Bing, could this girl BE any more unlikeable (or the mirror image of her odious mother)? Ugh. I cannot stand her and though I would never wish harm (or scorched eyes) on a child, that little snot got exactly what she deserved. Hopefully, we’re in for an overdue attitude adjustment.
Speaking of bratty kids, I cheered when d. Emilio asked Mónica to leave and take her son with her. The inflection was perfect - as if the child had had an accident and needed to be changed. One thing that Misael and Big Reb have in common his their ability to deny EVERYTHING and tell outright lies in support of their denial. Es más, they both have instructed their lackeys to follow suit.
Doris continues inching towards the truth about her (former?) BFF. The flashback to the baby plot was another beacon to her unmasking Big Reb. Now that she’s realized Ang isn’t the bad guy, what more will it take for her to spill the frijoles?
For everything this episode got right, we had the setback of that dreadful novela trope of misunderstanding something overheard (Ang) and plunging into stupidity (marrying what’s-his-chef for all the wrong reasons). Let’s all wear matching beanies to the wedding!
Right on cue Mónica and her trusty old fashioned glass made the scene. This is why I’m such a fan of this coupling. They have been more consistent than any other couple on the show. They’re always together. In good times (family gatherings) and bad times (scheming to get over) they can’t be separated. Even when they are (glass gets projectile treatment), they’re magically back together in the next scene. #1OO%purelove
I have to be honest. I really thought when Mónica found Misael, he had committed some sort of hari-kari. Hairy-kari? I digress. The unresponsiveness. The emptied bottle. The hanging over the couch. Yet Mónica didn’t call for help. She only vowed revenge. I guess this condition is par for the course for every day that ends in Y for Mónica. Oh, well. That would have been a FIENDISH plot twist that nobody saw coming. Ya’ll think he’s just blotto?
Before tofay’s episode, Oddmakers had determined that in order to cancel the wedding and quarantine everyone, Sebas must have, Covid (49% chance), TB (32% chance), Malaria (7% chance), bird flu (2% chance) or cólico (.093% chance). Now it looks JE may stop the wedding on his own if he plays his cards right. Can’t wait.
Happy/Safe 4th!!!
SpanProf, I appreciate your very kind and supportive words!
I recap as I watch (I don't have a DVR) so it has to be live :)
Loved your conjecture on JE: "Will he dash up and stop the ceremony?--which was already kind of a cliche when Dustin Hoffman did it in 1967. Oh the suspense!" So much fun to speculate; I'm on the edge of my seat wondering if there will be bodas interruptus (a la Dustin Hoffman as you smartly noted!)
Such great timing for Don Emilio to regain his memory! I thought that would surely be one of the last things to happen. I'm also happy he has the power to declare himself President. Now IS the time to invoke that privilege.
Diana
Dear dynamic duo on holiday duty, thanks for sharing your skills pulling together this humdinger episode in style with your signature wit and sensitivity!
Monica’s over-the-top reaction and vow of revenge made me think Misael was dead, instead of just passed out?
Fatima has a generous spirit with her immediate support of Cris. Not — wait, JE is my half brother? We don’t share that loser Mauricio as our father? At least she finally knows.
Ha, “the wedding day finally arrives.” Renato had a button undone. Maybe Angel will tell JE her marriage to Renato is her destiny because he risked his life to rescue her from the fire! Flashbacks suggest this will come up somehow.
Vocab note, yesterday Doris called Armando a “rabo verde,” and today Armando repeated that to Gi. Literally “green tail,” “rabo” = tail and “verde” = green. Colloquially “dirty old man,” useful expression.
Clara
Hmmm, I now see sage and observant O.S. also questioning if that’s the end of Misael? Could it be? In a way that would advance the
plot.
Clara
The pink top loaned to Doris was a crop top of course.
That was a quick courtship of Marisa and Carmelo, although we have seen them in many scenes together.
I'm with those fearing Misael had killed himself. I say fear as I want him to be found guilty of his crimes and suffer the consequences.
Diana, cute, the show having stock in "Replacements".
O.S., Monica and her old fashioned glass made me laugh..... Typing this at a 4th Party so keeping it short.
O.S., thank you for your very nice words.
Your witty remarks always make me laugh but this was truly inspired: "Right on cue Mónica and her trusty old fashioned glass made the scene. This is why I’m such a fan of this coupling. They have been more consistent than any other couple on the show. They’re always together. In good times (family gatherings) and bad times (scheming to get over) they can’t be separated." I'm in awe!
On Mati, "To paraphrase my spirit animal Chandler M. Bing, could this girl BE any more unlikeable (or the mirror image of her odious mother)?" You nailed it! 10 out of 10. I sort of hate that she saw the video of Romina and Bruno but Mati was never going to believe Luciano, stubbornly sticking to the greatly impaired vision she has of her mother.
I also loathed Angel's "dreadful novela trope of misunderstanding something overheard"! But I blame Renato. He deliberately kept mum, allowing Angel to harbor her illusions of Renato being her savior. Worse, he knows Angel loves JE as well as the fact she does not love him. His window of redemption is now open only a fraction of an inch.
I am fairly certain Misael was "only" drop dead drunk. If more time had passed, I'd likely suspect Beca of carrying out some poisonous revenge for the choking incident. Bruno is so pathetic, he will always play and be the victim.
Diana
Thank you so much Clara.
I love vocabulary and "yesterday Doris called Armando a “rabo verde,” and today Armando repeated that to Gi. Literally “green tail,” “rabo” = tail and “verde” = green. Colloquially “dirty old man,” useful expression" was fantatic! I learned something new today!
Fatima does indeed have a "generous spirit". She is a wonderful daughter and a staunchly supportive sister.
Now that JE HAS shown up, I'm wondering if there will be a hitch at the wedding after all (?)
"Monica’s over-the-top reaction and vow of revenge made me think Misael was dead, instead of just passed out?" Clara, it never occurred to me Misael might be dead! With so many loose threads (Wanda, Pedrito, finding out Mau was his father) still hanging, I just think it's too soon. Now that I've said that if you, Kat and O.S. are right, I will end up with egg on my face. It's OK though, I'm a good loser. :)
Diana
Kat, I'm thinking Misael will survive; I completely agree with you that he needs his just desserts in the end...
You mentioned the pink top was a crop. I thought it was tied around the waist. I didn't see any skin, did I miss something? :)
Diana
Hola, Patio.
For the record, I don’t think Big Bang is done tormenting us with his ridiculous tuft of hair and his Daddy issues. That was my initial reaction while watching the episode. It’s another novela trope they usually use for cliffhangers and previews: Red herrings for anticipation of the upcoming episode(s).
His anvil should account for
•Stealing from grandpa.
•Shooting his cousin
•Bullying Santiago.
•Having Ramiro snuffed.
•Shooting his papá verdadero (for the murder of his unborn fœtus).
•Letting Bruno get those wretched tattoos.
•Falling in lust with Big Reb.
I’m sure there are a dozen more. I would love to be wrong as that would be the boldest move the writers have made in 87 episodes.
He needs to learn about Pedrito (as he lamented Mónica’s heavy-handed ruling of his life). He needs to learn that unbeknownst to him (and Adolfo), his propensity for scheming, insecurity, and self-victimization actually comes from Mauricio’s genetics. He needs to learn that his mother is an enabler with astronomical Daddy/Sister issues and get her into Beatriz Ford asap. After learned all this, then he can share a dumpster fire with Bruno. An anvil’s an anvil, right?
Diana, as I am watching these shows on my phone for the rest of this week I may have seen incorrectly, but I thought I saw skin on Doris. May have to rewatch that scene. It was right at the beginning so I should see it pretty quickly.
Diana, once again you and your shy helper have produced a truly great and FUN recap. Thank you!
"Misael snarls that she will pay…he is going to kill her! Unfortunately, Romina approaches and screams for help...."
Emphasis added. Naughty, naughty, Diana! :-)
"Mati gets Luciano’s phone to look for a picture of Luciano and Fatima. To her (and our) dismay she finds the video Luciano took of Romina and Bruno! Mati recoils, her corneas now irreparably scorched." And she got what she deserved!
"Monica sees drunk as a skunk Misael out like a light, hanging over the couch. She runs to him, petting him like a cat. Monica vows to get even with Rebeca…she will regret being born!"
It did not occur to me that Mistake could be dead, but I suppose it's possible. His world, his fraud, his love for Becky, all gone; and facing prison time.
What in tarnation is wrong with Renato? OK, he has the hots for Angel, but the guy is not totally stupid, he knows she doesn't love or want him. And he plans to marry her?
Does he really want a lukewarm to cool marriage much like their courtship?
Doris has been slowly learning that she was fed a lot of nonsense by Becky. I feel sure this is building up to something, but I don't know when we will see it.
We still have a lot of episodes to go.
Will Sebas keep sneezing?
Andy
O.S., while Misael's worst crimes to date appear to be "shooting his cousin," "shooting papa verdadero and "having Ramiro snuffed", his most egregious offense may well be "Letting Bruno get those wretched tattoos". :)
I agree he has much to learn and face up to. Sharing "a dumpster fire with Bruno" sounds just about right.
Diana
Kat, if you are able to rewatch, I am interested to see if Doris' top was crop. :)
Thanks so much - Diana
Gracias Diana, for another stellar recap and on a holiday too! Too bad they didn't give you the day off. A glance at next week's schedule is currently showing two days off, hopefully that doesn't change.
I am on team Mis is drunk but very much alive. I still think we are in for a battle royale between Mis and Rebeca that ends with scorched earth and them taking each other out. No way can Mis be killed off this early...
The easy reactions of these characters to life changing news is cracking me up: Al finds out JE is his son, and this truth was kept from him for 25+ years - he simply smiles. JE finds out Al is his dad - he gets upset for 5 mins and is then fine. Fatima finds out and smiles and tells mommy she has no reason to apologize for keeping a secret for decades!! Gi finds out her husband lied to her about having a daughter for 25+ years and she's just thrilled to know she has a daughter???? LOL LOL LOL LOL
Can JE stop the wedding? I don't care. I would much rather see it stopped by covid, or TB, or Malaria!! Less cliche.
Mati finding out the hard way that Romina is a liar is harsh, but hey at least the video wasn't them in the act or in bed. It's pretty obvious what had gone on, but everyone was at least semi-dressed and not touching... could have been worse and more scaring!!!
I didn't realize Marisa and Carmello were a new couple, I figured they were already dating since we've always seen them together - just not committed. Reminds me of a story of a couple that my sister knew. They got married on their first date!!!! Which sounds crazy, and probably is; but they were a couple that had been friends and had feelings for each other for years and then when they finally decided to go on a date, they decided in the middle of said date if they were in, they should be ALL IN! Wow!
Hi Andy; thank you for your very nice and encouraging words.
"What in tarnation is wrong with Renato? OK, he has the hots for Angel, but the guy is not totally stupid, he knows she doesn't love or want him. And he plans to marry her?" was perfectly phrased and clearly mirrors why we are so frustrated with this non galan. Your zinger "Does he really want a lukewarm to cool marriage much like their courtship?" was right on point.
Even though Misael was ready, willing and able to choke the life out of Rebeca, I can't help but wonder if his obsession with her is truly done. As the saying goes, there is a thin line between love and hate although he seems firmly planted on the "hate" side.
I totally agree that at some point Misael's "...world, his fraud, his love for Becky, (will) all (be) gone". I am just not sure yet if he will be alive ere the end.
As Sebas'sniffling doesn't seem to be a one-off, I'm wondering if there is an illness ready and waiting in the wings to prevent him from his missionary trek??
Diana
Okay...the rain didn't put out the sparklers after dinner , and the dog and kids enjoyed dancing in the rain. Time for telenovelas.
I enjoyed reading the New comments .
Regarding the top that Angel loaned \gave Doris, it was a silky pink blouse with long sleeves . Perhaps daring Doris thought it would look better tied up.
Regarding Miserable,I think he was passed out dead...drunk. He has certainly seen his Mommy dearest in that condition more than once.
Angel's gown was beautiful , and it was a whole gown, not a crop top.
I was staring at the bridal bouquet that Alma gave Angel. It looked like it was made of glass . Did anyone else notice ? Susan
Darcy, thank you for your always lovely words.
You burst out of the gate with "Can JE stop the wedding? I don't care. I would much rather see it stopped by covid, or TB, or Malaria!!" Oh my, just wonderful!
You astutely observed that many startling and revelatory confessions here have been accepted with patience and kindness and little (if any) rancor. Rather atypical novela reactions but most welcome nevertheless. :)
Initially, Carmelo was just sort of "there" and we speculated if he was Marisa's friend or something more. Yet when Marisa and Loli lost their home, he was nowhere to be seen. Then he started popping up in random scenes. Recently, he would have his arm casually around her but as far as I can recall, we knew almost nothing about their relationship. I guess there was much more to it!
Yes Darcy, what Mati saw on the video could certainly have been worse. Hopefully, it was enough to convince her that she has been championing the wrong parent.
"I still think we are in for a battle royale between Mis and Rebeca that ends with scorched earth..." sounds eerily prophetic...and ITA!!
Diana
Susan, "Regarding Miserable,I think he was passed out dead...drunk. He has certainly seen his Mommy dearest in that condition more than once" is so true!
"Regarding the top that Angel loaned\gave Doris, it was a silky pink blouse with long sleeves. Perhaps daring Doris thought it would look better tied up". THAT'S why I mistakenly thought it was a wrap top, it was the way Doris opted to tie it up as you noted. Thank you!
I agree Angel's dress looked beautiful which is making me nervous that she is going to go through with the wedding.
I thought the roses looked real but I was only able to give them a quick look.
Diana
Diana,
"I also loathed Angel's "dreadful novela trope of misunderstanding something overheard"! But I blame Renato. He deliberately kept mum, allowing Angel to harbor her illusions of Renato being her savior. Worse, he knows Angel loves JE as well as the fact she does not love him. His window of redemption is now open only a fraction of an inch."
I think you have nailed it. At the beginning of this novela I didn't know what to make of Renato when he kicked Becky out of his car. But over time I started to like him a good bit.
But now I have to think the guy is a total loser. He has taken credit for things he didn't do (but didn't somebody tell Angel it was not Renato who rescued her? Maybe I dreamed that.)
Beyond lying by omission, the guy must be really dense. He must know that Angel doesn't love him. Perhaps he plans to cook special dinners for her until she falls under his culinary spell? And if that doesn't work, buy a dog who would love him?
I haven't noticed Jimena pining for him lately, either.
I am sorely disappointed in Renato.
Andy
Andy, I've flip flopped several time on Renato. I didn't like him at all initially, but grew to like him, although in fairness, it was mostly in his scenes with Jimena. And David.
He is aware that JE has not treated Angel well but that is no excuse for withholding and lying (by omission) that JE saved Angel as you noted. He knows he has no chance against JE and that it is he Angel truly loves.
"Perhaps he plans to cook special dinners for her until she falls under his culinary spell? And if that doesn't work, buy a dog who would love him?" had me smiling away. Perhaps that is his master plan?
Here's hoping he comes to his senses and does so before the wedding.
Diana
Diana, Uni didn't even give you a national holiday off? They manage to lard us up with Christmas and Easter stuff, but I guess they think their viewerville isn't interested in Independence Day so on with the show. Thanks so much to you and Omni for your hard work.
Yep, that was certainly one convenient clause that Adolfo pulled out of his back pocket just in time to thwart Rebeca.
Loved "misguided Mati".
Romina's white all around eyes have a look in them that maybe, just maybe, she picked the wrong horse.
I must say I feel a tiny, tiny bit bad about enjoying seeing Rebeca choked so much.
Aha! Doris absolutely knows all about whose baby Reb lost and when she lost it. Time to spill, Doris.
Count me in on being tired of the old trope of hearing one side of a phone call and picking the wrong meaning from it.
I can't remember what happened to that proof of Misael's fraud that Misael stole from the safe, killing poor Dulce as a result. Mau had it, or something similar, for a hot minute. I've lost track of where it is now.
Mati: Pfft! No dismay here. I'm delighted she saw that video her pops is using to shake off the leech. First of all, she deserves to be hurt by it because she was all ready to betray her always loving father by coming up with some proof he's having an affair. And she's not even smart enough to realize that her mother wants to gain sole custody. ITA with O.S.: overdue attitude adjustment happening soon to a certain redhaired snot.
Gah! Couldn't Elena have summoned up the tiniest bit of guts and prohibited Rebeca from showing up at Angelli's wedding?
Everyone here was certain that the wedding would happen. But what about the Golden Rule? The female protagonist never sleeps with anyone but the galan unless it's rape? And...after a wedding is the wedding night.
Diana, there was about an inch of Doris waist showing on my rewatch. I didn't look to see if it was tied that way.
Novelera, I think Reb has the missing papers, didn't she find them taped under the dresser drawer. But I may be mistaken.
So the actor playing Bruno is also in the new TN El Conde on Telemundo. I noticed in last night's episode he is not covered in tats. Good make up or some body suit being warn in conde, or are the tats fake on Vivir. I'm not vested enough in the actor to research his true tat status though ....
I think Mau taped those incriminating papers under the drawer in the bedside table , and we were all bummed when Reb was the one to find them and take them. I can't recall where she hid them.
The choking didn't seem to dim Reb's annoying arrogance and massive self confidence . She is the Energizer Bunny of Evil . Girl just keeps scheming and dreaming, lying and trying to zoom everybody all the time . The only one she still has to pretend to be a good girl with is her mami because she isn't hiding her true nature from anyone else. Elena did not look at all happy when Reb announced that she would go to Sissy' s wedding ...but, of course, weak willed Elena didn't say "no." Reb is amazing at constantly manipulating her guiltridden , quivering mother.
I dont think Reb would have turned out any nicer and less evil if she hadn't been kidnapped because we all saw four year old bad seed taunt her two year old sister as she gleefully jettisoned her dolly on that fun day at the fair. Was she clever enough to hid her animosity toward her tiny sister from her patents ? Susan
Novelera, thank you so much.
"Romina's white all around eyes have a look in them that maybe, just maybe, she picked the wrong horse" was exactly right!
"Count me in on being tired of the old trope of hearing one side of a phone call and picking the wrong meaning from it".:)
"Aha! Doris absolutely knows all about whose baby Reb lost and when she lost it. Time to spill, Doris". Is is Novelera. Doris is a smart girl, she has heard enough to connect the dots.
As you wisely noted "But what about the Golden Rule? The female protagonist never sleeps with anyone but the galan unless it's rape? And...after a wedding is the wedding night". Bingo. Well, we find out today!
Kat, thank you for the info on the papers.
Diana
"The choking didn't seem to dim Reb's annoying arrogance and massive self confidence . She is the Energizer Bunny of Evil . Girl just keeps scheming and dreaming, lying and trying to zoom everybody all the time" is right Susan!
I also agree that "I dont think Reb would have turned out any nicer and less evil if she hadn't been kidnapped"...I fear she was cunning enough to hide her abuse of Angel from her mother but we did see a scene with them with their father in the kitchen and I think he was catching on.
Diana
Regarding the noche de boda, we have seen lots of people somehow avoid it, including Esteban in " Receta" whose bride is threatening to kill his children , his true love , and him if he doesn't do the deed with her . Susan
Thanks so much, Diana and friend. Another great recap, and these episodes have been great too.
I was actually pleased Mati saw the video. It’s about time she realizes what her mother really is. And now she can stop blaming Fatima and being mean to her dad.
Wow, I thought Misael was really going to kill Rebeca. JE is right, now she is all alone. Although she has Romina at her side. And maybe she can call on Brayan and thugs.
I thought it was great when Gi was talking with Armando. She was so excited when she said, “We have a daughter”. Can’t wait for them to tell Doris.
Brayan and friends are beyond cruel, threatening Pedrito. They deserve a lifetime in jail.
Guess we’ll find out today if the wedding happens. Maybe Renato himself will stop it. Rebeca reminding him Angela doesn’t love him was cruel, but true. That may make him think.
Liz
Gracias, Diana and friend. You are champs for crafting a super recap even on a holiday. Yesterday's epi was explosive and your recap nailed it all.
Yay! Don Emilio is large and in charge again. Kudos to the Caraymate (sorry, I don't remember who) who predicted this.
Maybe Sebas has infected everyone and there's no wedding.
Mati, did you get an eyefull? Sorry, I'm not sorry. Mati knows how devoted her father has always been to her, yet she was spying on him for her mother. She should've told her mama to do her own dirty work. Disloyal twit.
Thanks so much Liz!
"I thought it was great when Gi was talking with Armando. She was so excited when she said, “We have a daughter”. Can’t wait for them to tell Doris". Me too! I wonder how she will take the news??
"Brayan and friends are beyond cruel, threatening Pedrito. They deserve a lifetime in jail". ITA and it can't come soon enough for me.
Diana
I appreciate your nice words Niecie, thank you.
"Maybe Sebas has infected everyone and there's no wedding" had me smiling away. You never know!
"Mati, did you get an eyefull? Sorry, I'm not sorry...Disloyal twit was perfect. 'Nuff said :)

On the heels of JE’s unexpected appearance, Angel walks forward and asks JE to leave; Santi steps forward asking JE to respect the wedding. Alma gently leads Santi away to allow them to talk. Meanwhile, Renato pulls Rebeca not so gently away to avoid her making a scandal.
Elena wears a rather regal midnight blue gown with a V neck and gorgeous diamond necklace and dangling diamond earrings. She arrives looking very uncomfortable as Gi and Armando come in behind her. Elena purports to feel bad about not helping with the wedding arrangements or being with Angel through this time (as well she should) but Gi tells her to just smile and enjoy the wedding. Armando is in flattering light blue, Gi lovely in lavender.
Angel is wearing an ivory, off the shoulder lace wedding dress with detached short puffy “sleeves”, hair pulled back in an unflattering plain Jane knot. I wish she had limited herself to one pair of earrings rather than multiples. Her neck is unadorned.
Angel questions why JE is insistent on separating her and Renato? When she reminds him that he married Rebeca, JE tells her he wants to keep her from making the same mistake. When he adds that she shouldn’t marry a man she doesn’t love, she asks who told him she doesn’t love Renato! JE reminds her that she swore their love would be forever, but Angel argues that he forgot that when he slept with Rebeca. He insists that it was a mistake and that is why he is there. (The patio sighs sadly that he hasn’t figured that out yet). He wants to prevent her from being unhappy. Angel insists that Renato will do everything necessary so she will be happy…then pleads to let her be happy! JE then asks her to tell him that she loves Renato…if she does that, then she should go inside and get married; that’s the only way he will believe that she has stopped loving him. She stares wide eyed but not a word is uttered.
Mati cries wondering what her mother is doing with that man. How could she?! No wonder she wouldn’t answer her calls… Luciano then approaches and regrets that she saw the video, he wanted her to avoid getting hurt. He gently strokes her hair and holds her close.
Gabriel’s father pleads with Fatima, asking her not to run Gabriel off. Fatima tells him that what Gabriel did was very serious. The father pleads that Gabriel has learned his lesson…and that he can’t earn enough money on his own (which seems strange as he is a vet but I digress). Sandra walks up and joins the chorus in support of Gabriel. Fatima relents and allows Gabriel to stay but she doesn’t want to see him near the house. The father gratefully agrees.
JE points out that Angel hasn’t responded and pleads with her not to get married. Angel is quite clear: she WILL get married; in a matter of minutes, she will be Renato’s wife.
Javi asks about his mother so Luciano tells him that he asked Romina for a divorce but reassures his son they will stay with them. Javi thinks Mati wants to live with their mother and he wants to be with Mati. Luciano responds that he will try to convince Mati to stay with them. Later, Luciano advises Mati not to let what she saw affect her feelings for her mother.
Diana
Renato wears a long ivory tunic (only the top one unbuttoned) and satin backed vest with a boutonniere. Arms crossed, standing at a distance, he tells Rebeca he will not allow her to ruin his wedding! Rebeca sneers she just wants to enjoy watching her sister unite with a loser like him because sooner or later, Angel will be unhappy. He is no saint, and when he sees that Angel won’t love him, he’ll seek comfort elsewhere and will be as unhappy as Angel. That will be her sweet revenge. Angel does not nor will she ever love him.
JE persists and asks Angel to tell him how she buried their love because he hasn’t stopped thinking about her. When Angel tells him she is no longer his, JE holds her head tenderly in his hands arguing that her mouth may be saying one thing but her eyes tell him otherwise. He asks that they run away together but Angel is adamant that she will get married and become Renato’s wife. Por favor he calls out to her retreating figure.
Angel collects herself and tells (lies) everyone that she is fine.
Rebeca twists the dagger in Renato’s heart smirking that when he is “with” Angel in bed tonight, Angel will be thinking of JE…and it will be so for every night going forward as Angel will never stop loving JE. As time passes, he will become increasingly resentful…that will be his destiny!
Romina worries about what happened. Bruno tells her that Rebeca overstepped and talked too much. When she asks what he is referring to, he deflects reminding her how Misael was yesterday. He leans forward getting in her face asking how Rebeca knew about the Swiss accounts but Romina denies knowing anything about it. They are interrupted when Mati calls Romina.
When Romina asks what Luciano told them, Mati shares only that Luciano told them about the divorce. Romina, as vindictive as ever, spews that it is critical Mati take pictures or videos of Luciano and Fatima together…Oh and if her father shows her anything, she shouldn’t believe it! Mati bids her mother “adios” as she cries that her mother always lies!
Reprehensible Rebeca tells Elena that she is anxious to see her sister get married.
Angel sits and agonizes about JE’s pleas, begging her to leave with him. She then “sees” JE and Rebeca together in her mind. She cries that JE won’t ruin her or this special day as she tries to convince herself she and Renato will be muy feliz! Jimena in a mid-blue one shoulder dress (looking lovely as usual) rushes in.
Alma effuses to Lupe, Marisa, La Pinky and Lucas how lovely Angel looks. Quiet murmurs as to where the bride is begin.
Cris is inhaling the intoxicating scent of a red rose bouquet as Adolfo appears. She asks how he is; he replies that discovering that a son is not what one wanted him to be is difficult; he feels guilty and responsible for what Misael has done. Cris argues that he is not at fault; they both know what a bad influence Monica has been in rearing and “educating” Misael.

Cris argues that he is not at fault; they both know what a bad influence Monica has been in rearing and “educating” Misael.

Misael, who has learned nothing, is evaporating in a torrent of tears and self-pity. Still drunk (or newly drunk), he swigs directly from the crystal decanter. Monica asks Misael to stop crying for that maldita Rebeca. She told him not to trust her but he didn’t listen. Although Rebeca has betrayed him in every possible way, pathetic Misael tries to stand, crying that he can’t live without Rebeca; he needs her. Monica tries to get him up but Misael reproaches that this is how she wants to see him and can now be happy. He asks her to leave, but Monica refuses and tells him that she won’t let him destroy his life…they need to think of how they will get out of this. When she adds that he needs to regain credibility and trust in the eyes of his grandfather to regain his place in the company, Misael sneers that he is fed up! The only thing that consumes her is the presidency; the last thing she cares about is him! Monica retorts that she does care about him…and his future. Misael is still fed up and pushes her physically out of his house and out of his life!
Adolfo is still feeling guilty. Empathetic and sympathetic Cris takes his hand expressing regret that he is going through this. Adolfo comments that things would have been so different if she had been Misael’s mother. He would have two excellent sons. It is difficult to see how different Misael is from JE. What will become of his son?
Monica bangs on the door, pleading with Misael to open it. She curses Rebeca…and spews that she hates her a thousand times. He slides down the wall, slumping down on the floor.
Alma prays that God shed light on Angel and JE (as I join right in).
Angel complains that JE shouldn’t have done this. When Jimena suggests that JE is right in that she still has time to cancel the wedding, Angel cries she can’t do that to Renato. Jimena argues that she knows Angel still loves JE and he must still love her. Thick as a brick Angel thinks JE still loves Rebeca since he hasn’t divorced her. Jimena counters that he is doing that now! Angel retorts that JE is not doing this for her, it’s because he feels hurt that Rebeca is cheating on him with Misael. Angel is tired of believing JE who persists in always going back to Rebeca. Jimena, the voice of reason and rationale, points out that this doesn’t hide the fact that Angel is marrying without love, and Renato doesn’t deserve a woman who loves another. Angel stares, absorbing these wise words.
Santi tells a relieved Renato that Angel was outside with JE…but Angel ran him off and will proceed with the wedding.
JE sits on the outside steps, recalling Angel asking him who said she doesn’t love Renato. He answers that it is he and he will prove it! Fully resolved, he gets up and returns to the wedding as thoughts of his wedding with Angel course through his mind.
Don Emilio looks despondent as Cris joins him. He tells Cris it isn’t fair JE has had to endure so much, especially losing Angel. Cris is frustrated, regretting she can’t do anything. Don Emilio thinks JE must be torn while Cris hopes JE didn’t go to the wedding because that will truly tear him apart.
Jimena helps Angel with her final preparations as she stands before a mirror. Jimena wishes her the utmost of happiness, reinforcing what a good man Renato is. Angel comments that memories of JE will be buried and now new memories will be made with Renato. Santi comes in and Angel tells him she is ready to get married.
Diana
Santi walks Angel out and everyone claps as Jimena murmurs words of encouragement to Renato. Elena tells Angel she looks beautiful and as she wishes her happiness and hugs her, Rebeca eyerolls in the background. As Angel and Renato hold hands, (Angel looking miserable), JE appears and yells “NO”. He says he loves her and she rushes to him and says “I love you” too!! But alas, back to reality, that scene is only wishful thinking in JE’s mind!
Mati is curled up on the couch thinking about her mother’s lies and Lucas’s support of Fatima. Concerned father Luciano looks down sympathetically asks how she is feeling, offering her something to eat. She declines so he sits with her as he rubs her arm with care and concern. She tells him she has been thinking a lot. In tears she says how badly she feels that her mother has always lied to her. And he never said anything derogatory about Romina. Luciano wanted Mati to find out on her own. Mati asks that he forgive her and says she doesn’t want to be separated from him. He assures that no one will take her from him. I have to admit I was crying along with Mati.
Although the wedding is not being held in a church we immediately recognize the officiant’s priestly vestments as it dawns on me this is not a civil but a religious ceremony (a clue as to the outcome??) The wedding starts…The priest begins as JE lingers brokenheartedly in the doorway.
Lucas calls Mati to ask how she is. She shares that her mother lied to her and manipulated her. She feels terrible about how she treated her father. Lucas advises that it’s not too late to support her father. Mati walks over to her computer.
Fatima tells Luciano that Adolfo is JE’s real father. Luciano wonders what Fatima could have done to help JE. Fatima argues that she could have told Angel that JE was forced to stay with Rebeca. After she lists the litany of everything JE has gone through, Luciano points out that there is nothing she could have done to change things. He thinks Angel must have her reasons for marrying Renato…perhaps she did stop loving JE. Angel argues that one can’t stop loving just by wishing it.
Brayan and company practice playing video games. Through the marvels (and pitfalls) of technology, they see that Mati (Lucas’ love) has logged on and Brayan starts chatting with her. Mari frowns not recognizing the name but agrees to give him tips.
Back to the wedding, the priest starts the vow recital. He asks Renato if he takes Angel for his wife. Renato accepts with a glowing smile. After Renato accepts, JE leaves. Inside, everyone is smiling in anticipation as we watch JE descend the stairs. However, when Angel is asked if she accepts, she hesitates…and in the resounding silence, Rebeca’s poisonous words that Angel will never love him reverberate in Renato’s head. The priest then asks if he should repeat the question. No father that isn’t necessary Renato manages. Renato answers with a resounding “NO” as the attendees look shocked as Angel stares…
While I am always enormously grateful for my friend’s magnificent and all-encompassing dialogue translations, I am especially grateful today. She did the heavy lifting with her always exceptional fine flair, allowing me to concentrate on the much smaller details including the wedding fashions. Amiga, I so appreciate all your efforts and generous, precious time.
Diana
SpanProf, thank you for your unfailingly kind and supportive comments.
Today was indeed another intense episode and your "they really dragged this episode out and kept teasing us" mirrored today's events perfectly!
"But at last it was Renato who backed out and for the noble reason that he realizes Angelli loves JE". Yes, finally! And what I particularly relished was that the person who continually hammered home the fact Angel doesn't love him is...Rebeca!! I do wonder why she was so persistent. I thought having Angel tucked away in Renato's arms WAS what she wanted. She certainly did everything to keep that from happening. I am relieved Renato found his conscience. Almost too late but not quite enough.
Naturally JE leaves before everything goes to hell in a handbasket (am I showing my age with that remark??)
Mati needed to see Romina's duplicity for herself. And did she ever. Hopefully this will send her on a kinder, more understanding path.
Diana
Dear Diana and friend to all of us , A big thank you for a great review of an episode in which the writers really played us along. I dislike those scenes that seem to be happening but are actually just in somebody's imagination. The writers in "_Receta" used the same device at the wedding ceremony of Esteban and wicked witch Gin.
Kim is such a scary villain, but in his role of surgar sweet Angel, she has perfected the doeeyed look of innocence. Brava. I wonder if Kim ever watches Gala portraying Reb and thinks about what she would have done as the villain.
Diana. I always enjoy your fashion show announcements. Angel's gown was pretty. I didn't realize at first that those puffy sleeves were not attached to the gown . Well, I guess we will get to see Angel in one more wedding gown when she finally marries JE. I tried on one gown that fit perfectly, , loved it, and bought it.
Reb had her signature neck brace gown on . Perhaps his time it was to hide the bruises from Miserable almost choking her to death.
Well, Renato finally did the right thing. Did the wedding guests still get a nice meal (:chicken or fish) and a chance to do The Electric Slide ? I guess they will take back their presents. Onward to giving Jimena and son a HEA.
Susan
Diana, I think Reb just relishes raining on someone's , anyone's parade. She looked so joyful verbally attacking Renato. She still hasn't forgiven him for throwing her out of his car way back when.
Two questions on my mind : 1) Has everyone forgotten that poor, innocent, devoted Petra is STILL in jail? 2)Has Elena opened her credit card statement yet?
Susan
Diana, much as I appreciate and absolutely love, L O V E, your wonderful recaps, I am going to have to disagree with you about some fashion today.
Andy the fashionista. Please don't laugh. I'm not sticking to any fashion rules, I'm just going by what looks good (to me).
"Angel..., hair pulled back in an unflattering plain Jane knot." I thought she looked really good that way!! Much better than some of her other looks.
"I wish she had limited herself to one pair of earrings rather than multiples." OK, no argument here. Her right ear usually sports more dangling nonsense than the usual Christmas tree. She should have put some of this stuff down the drain rather than valuable rings.
Becky's red dress was strange, full length with split skirt, odd neckline and a small cutout just below and to the side of her left breast (presumably below the right as well).
I thought Renato had been moonlighting at an upscale Indian restaurant, but no, that's what he wears to get married in Mexico.
As for the rest of the fashion news, no argument! And here ends my foray into fashion reviewing :-)
Now what made Renato finally face reality??? Becky!
"Rebeca twists the dagger in Renato’s heart smirking that when he is “with” Angel in bed tonight, Angel will be thinking of JE…and it will be so for every night going forward as Angel will never stop loving JE. As time passes, he will become increasingly resentful…that will be his destiny!"
But as you asked, Diana, why did Becky persist?
To be honest, the goings on at the wedding interested me greatly, and had me all nervous about whether they would marry or not. The hacienda, Brayan, the rest, it was all just cheap filler. I was a little surprised that Gabriel actually worked at the hacienda and that his father, a sad looking veterinarian, needed that financial help.
It was also a bit far fetched, much earlier, when nice girl Fatima threatened to fire lovely under-age Sandra, daughter of the hacienda's foreman.
Telenovela la-la land.
Andy, wearing clothes that the Thrift Store would not accept
Andy, I always appreciate your fashion views. Commenter Kirby had a lot of opinions about the clothing that the actresses wore. Sometimes he ruffled Diana's and my feathers a bit . Today, it seems that anything goes in fashion . I like clothes, but I also like to be comfortable... And I am rather laidback ( lazy?)' which means that dealing with detached , puffy sleeves and turtleneck sweaters that just have the turtleneck and sleeves minus the sweater ,and putting several earrings in both ears everyday is just too much troub!e. I do love Angel's clothing . Her look is elegant and classic, and she looks comfortab!e. Susan
Susan, I remember Kirby and his eagle pictures, etc. He could be a lot of fun, but perhaps he's too active a guy to sit watching telenovelas when there are eagles and butterflies to follow. And cars and boats. Sometimes I wondered how he managed to watch telenovelas at all.
I don't remember his comments about fashion. I don't often have anything to say about the subject because after censoring my comments to make them suitable for mixed company they don't make much sense. I do always read others' fashion comments though.
:-)
Andy
Susan, thank you very much.
Yes, Rebeca "looked so joyful verbally attacking Renato. She still hasn't forgiven him for throwing her out of his car way back when" is exactly right. She is still punishing him for not finding her irrestible...
I don't know if "...the wedding guests still get a nice meal (:chicken or fish) and a chance to do The Electric Slide ?" we will have to see won't we? :)
"turtleneck sweaters that just have the turtleneck and sleeves minus the sweater" was great.
Kirby enjoyed needling us about fashions (and other things) didn't he? I miss his humor and ascerbic wit. His pictures were works of art. I hope he is doing well.
Diana
Andy, thank you very much.
Your wry humor and on point comments tonight were fierce and fab.
On Angel's multiple (and frankly somewhat tawdry) ear wear: "Her right ear usually sports more dangling nonsense than the usual Christmas tree. She should have put some of this stuff down the drain rather than valuable rings". Genius! 'Nuff said.
"I thought Renato had been moonlighting at an upscale Indian restaurant, but no, that's what he wears to get married in Mexico". Andy, I kept trying to think of something clever to say about his puzzling wardrobe choice but came up empty handed. And empty headed. :) Thank heavens you provided the perfect comment.
I fear we will need to agree to disagree on Angel's hair. An updo or a sparkling barrette would have worked wonders; a french braid even more so. But to each his own :)
I'm glad I'm not alone in wondering why Beca would insult and taunt Renato to the degree she did. Is there some underlying reason we aren't picking up on? I'm going to harp on that in my mind this weekend (as it competes with other nonsensical things floating around in there).
Diana
Thanks so much, Diana and friend, you keep hitting these out of the ballpark.
I really thought we were going to have to wait until Monday to find out if they married, so I’m just glad we got the “no” today, even if it wasn’t from Angel. I don’t think Rebeca had any plan when she was taunting Renato. I think she just wanted to hurt him and ruin his wedding, and the rest of his life. She’s so used to being her nasty self it probably never occurred to her she went to far. She definitely doesn’t want Angel and JE together and happy. She’d much rather make people miserable.
Mati did not look like a teenager in the closeups. She had a much more mature look. I’m glad she realized her mother had been lying to her, and Luciano never had to put her mother down.
Everyone was looking at the wedding attire. And thank you for the descriptions. I was noticing how Don Emilio and Cris were dressed to hang around the house No flip flops, cut offs and t-shirts in that house.
Stay cool, it was 98 degrees here today.
Liz
Liz, I appreciate your nice words.
I enjoyed your thoughtful comment that Beca didn't have a plan for Renato but simply "...wanted to hurt him and ruin his wedding, and the rest of his life". Knowing Rebeca as we do, that sounds perfectly plausible.
You had me laughing with "...Don Emilio and Cris were dressed to hang around the house No flip flops, cut offs and t-shirts..." which is so true. Cris is always perfectly coiffed and outfitted. Don Emilio always cuts a dashing figure.
98 is definitely way too hot. I hope you are being spared the high humidity which is running rampant in so many parts of the county.
Diana
Another splendid recap, Diana and Omni! So many great details and snarky asides.
Yes, Elena looked fantastic at the wedding. And she was rightly sad that she'd missed out on the preparations for Angelli's wedding. She was grinning ear to ear at Rebeca's with JE.
SpanProf, ITA. They dragged that wedding suspense on and on and on, interrupting it with crap like Brayan and his compinches planning something with Mati. It was kind of funny that Brayan isn't good enough at video games to lure in Mati. He had to get the brown haired thug to do the dirty work.
Why didn't JE tell Amgelli that he stayed married to Rebeca because of the threat to accuse Angeli of pushing her down the stairs and losing her baby (not)? From what I heard she still thinks he's married to Rebeca. Why didn't he tell her about the divorce? Speaking of divorce, this is confusing. Several epis ago they said they were already divorced, but Rebeca tried to outwit JE at the big showdown at the Rivero Cuéllar conference room by saying she'd get half his shares in the divorce.
Misled Mati finally gets it. She also got that her somewhat saintly father never threw Romina under the bus.
I guess Gabriel, halo now sunk in the dust, gets to stay on so Sandra gets him.
Yes, Andy Banda, that was definitely an upscale Indian restaurant waiter outfit that Renato had on. Just weird.
Ha! What fun! Big Reb shot herself in the foot going on and on about how miserable Renato's marriage was going to be. And novelera says she told you so...the dewy eyed female protag never willingly has sex with anyone but the galan.
I have a feeling that Rebeca's downfall is going to be Monica. That stark look of hatred and vow for revenge convinced me.
Hola, Patio Wedding Guests.
Thanks Diana (recap) and Ally (all-encompassing dialog translations) for a platinum recap of the BIG day. The day finally arrived, and ya’ll captured everything with aplomb. Thank you so much for the play-by-play and your inimitable fashion breakdown. While watching I was thinking I can’t wait to read Diana/Patio’s thoughts on these threads/lewks.
Elena was a showstopper in her blue dress - so much so that I barely noticed proud new parents Armando & Gi. I don’t know much about fashion, so can someone tell me from what century and/or continent puffly sleeves come? Again, I was so distracted by her sleeve game that I hardly noticed claire’s®️ threw up on her ears. I was very disappointed in JE who has been sharp sartorially this whole season. If you’re going to stop a wedding, please dress to impress. He looked like he was going to a garage sale and/or flea market. Completely forgettable.
It was my understanding that Lino (Tiger Beat, Sr.) asked Fátima for leniency because he couldn’t handle all the hacienda work by himself. Because timing, age defier Sandra is there to cosign. I believe in second chances; however, this is lazy writing and clearly a setup, i.e., filler for more teen angst, triangles, and rhombuses. Ugh.
Big Reb gets the Vocabulary Corner today. As reported, she read his future and predicted nothing but gloom and doom in the bedroom (revolcándote con ella = a roll in the hay) then resentment. She said he didn’t know how much she was going to enjoy all this. Then (my favorite part), she touched his shoulder and dismissively said, “You have funny little clothes!”
¡Qué chistoso tu ropita! Red dress: OO1; Tunic: OOO.
Jimena really looked great in her blue thingy (I will stay in my lane and leave the fifty cent fashion words to our queen Diana). Take that, Icky! They need to hurry up and make Renato officially single and likable again so that we can root for them.
Meanwhile back at the manse, Cris is the picture of elegance as usual. It’s hard to tell what season it is, but she seemed dressed for a winter formal. LOL @ Liz’s house dress code. My takeaway from this scene: LOL @ Cridolfo (both) agreeing that Mónica is directly to blame for Big Bang’s antics. Cut to him STILL drinking and Joker enabling him whilst looking out for her own interests. She was KIND OF being maternal. I’m really shocked no glasses were broken in this sequence. Oh, we’d debated this before. Looks like Big Bang has a townhouse away from the family compound after all. Finally, Joker quotes Isaiah 54:15: (loosely) heifers that conspire in yo face are going down. #fightingwords

Random notes:
•La Pinky in pink was very meta.
•Luciano is currently ranking #2 on the Show’s Best Man chart. He cooks. He takes care of his kids. He works hard. Mati’s lucky she didn’t get a (well-deserved) chanclaso for getting all up in his phone sin permiso. Seeing BEIR & Bruno’s tats = punishment enough. He is being an amazing father.
•Methinks Santiago went to Age Shifter school with Sandra. Today he looked no more than 12½ years old escorting his sister down the aisle.
Novelera, thank you very much!
Loved "I guess Gabriel, halo now sunk in the dust, gets to stay on so Sandra gets him". Lucky girl! Not.
"Misled Mati finally gets it. She also got that her somewhat saintly father never threw Romina under the bus" was great. It's about time right??
The divorce is confusing for the exact reasons you noted so very well.
"I have a feeling that Rebeca's downfall is going to be Monica. That stark look of hatred and vow for revenge convinced me" is sound reasoning and makes perfect sense.
"And novelera says she told you so...the dewy eyed female protag never willingly has sex with anyone but the galan". Totally on point. Totally right. You rock!

Hi O.S.
I've asked Rgv Chick to restore your comment when she is able.
I look forward to it...
Diana
O.S. thank you for your lovely words.
I'm rather speechless, clearly you've outdone yourself. Again!!
There would be no point in my cutting and pasting everything as the patio will no doubt read and admire your post for themselves but I must repeat a few favorites.
Oh my "Then (my favorite part), she touched his shoulder and dismissively said, “You have funny little clothes!” was a gem thank you for sharing. "¡Qué chistoso tu ropita! Red dress: OO1; Tunic: OOO" had ma laughtig away.
You pick up on so many details, delicious and otherwise but "Methinks Santiago went to Age Shifter school with Sandra" completely nailed it.
"Proud new parents Armando & Gi", "teen angst, triangles, and rhombuses. Ugh" also sparkled and shone.
"I was so distracted by her sleeve game that I hardly noticed claire’s®️ threw up on her ears" was inspired and just wonderful.
Thank you for your wry wit and wisdom. An awesome read!
Diana
O.S. thanks for a weekend giggle. What jumped out at me was the term " heifer". That word used to pop up here at the patio now and then in the past , but I haven't seen it here in years . I had only heard it used for actual heifers before I saw it here years ago.

Gracias Diana! Another fantastic recap and like the others I love your fashion comments. I know nothing about fashion, but I always learn terms from your fashion feedback! I thought all the wedding guests (except Reb though that color looked good on Gala, not so much the dress design) looked lovely which is a bit of a departure from the norm of one or two looking off.
I didn't notice much about what Renato was wearing but I don't notice Renato much so it's not surprising.
I'm glad Mati is coming around, I'm tired of listening to her anti-Fatima rants. I think it's time to have some characters - Mati and Doris - come over to the good side and leave the dark side to the truly bad guys.
I think this is from Thursday and not yesterday but I watched both episodes this morning, so they are blurred in my mind- but as reprehensible as it was for Brayan to threaten Pedrito, I thought that scene was oddly cute! LOL The little actor playing Pedrito looked adorable while glaring so harshly at Brayan!!! It was definitely one of those looks where if you were a mother and your child was glaring at you like that you'd have to work hard not to laugh at them!!
Darcy, thank you for your always uplifting comments.
"I didn't notice much about what Renato was wearing but I don't notice Renato much so it's not surprising" was just great. I hear you!!
The wedding guests did look great, especially Elena who looked positively regal.
I'm ready for Mati and Doris to come around too.
Pedrito is one of my favorite child actors. He was heartbreaking in Mi fortuna es amarte; he has such presence for someone so young. As you noted, he tries to emulate a very intimidating and ferocious "look", but he is so sweet you just can't believe it for a minute. :)

This week's airings and recapping.
Good morning everyone!
As of now, Comcast shows Vivir airing tomorrow, Monday, Thursday and Friday.
At this point, I am planning on recapping Monday and Friday. My brother will be visiting and I won't be able to watch or recap Thursday. I am hoping that someone might volunteer to cover Thursday with either a recap or highlights. Either would be very appreciated!
I'll repost this when the new heading is posted tomorrow...
Diana
Terrific job, Diana and friend. This epi was fashion galore and your recap delivered on the details.
I give an honorable mention to Lupita's styling. She's pretty on a normal day, but she looked so great Friday that at first I didn't recognize her. I want the hair stylist.
I enjoyed all the comments on the Patio. I sure hope we're finally free of Angel thinking JE stayed with Rebeca because he wanted to and is just bummed that she cheated with Misael.
When I saw Renato in the tunic, I wondered if he had Indian heritage and we'd meet his parents at the wedding. But nope on both counts.
As foul as Monica is, I'm not blaming how Misael turned out solely on her. The little tyke never saw mom commit embezzlement or murder.
I am looking forward to Monday's episode. I hope Renato thanks Becky for helping him see the light; I would love to see her reaction.
Incidentally, I was trying to clear out some stuff on my hard drives and came across some episodes of La mexicana y el güero that I had kept because it is one of my all-time favorite novelas, at least the first half of it.
Gala Montes looked so different, but it was her. I think she really does a great job of being a bad girl in Vivir. She scares me sometimes. :-)
I have never seen, that I know of, Kimberly Dos Ramos as a baddie.
Diana, we will miss you on Thursday, but we will muddle through somehow. Hopefully well enough to fill you in on what transpires on Thursday's show.
I hope you enjoy your brother's visit!

Thank you Niecie! I always enjoy your smart take on things.
I'm also hoping Angel finally finds the truth out as to the real reason why JE stayed with Rebeca. Fingers crossed!
"As foul as Monica is, I'm not blaming how Misael turned out solely on her. The little tyke never saw mom commit embezzlement or murder". You are right of course. Misael didn't seem quite as wretched when this began as he is now. From unintentional manslaughter to murder; he has certainly become irredeemable. With Mau as a father, perhaps there really was no hope for him.
Niecie, were you referring to Elena? If so, she did look smashing; absolutely gorgeous. :)
Diana
Andy, I am also looking forward to tomorrow's episode! I am so happy Beca will realize she pushed Renato way too far.I think tomorrow and the next (Thursday's) episodes are going to be pivotal.
I also liked Gala in La Mexicana. This is the first time I've ever seen her as a villain. Or, Kimberly as the protagonist. They are both doing a great job.
I am sure the patio will cover everything in fine fashion on Thursday. :)
Diana
Diana, actually I meant Lupe. She was seated and had little screen time, but her hair and makeup were super.
I realize I'm still having trouble remembering the secondary characters' names. Like I've forgotten the name of the woman that's taking care of Pedrito's little friend (and her name too!), the names of Bryan's henchies, etc. Primitivo may not be a dynamite catch, but at least I can remember his name.
Marisa and Loli is whom you mean I think. Axel and Memo are the henchies.
"Primitivo may not be a dynamite catch, but at least I can remember his name". :)
