Looks like I'm off the hook for a Tuesday recap. I'm grateful Telemundo is going with election coverage because I'll be glued to my TV looking at both California and nationwide results. I was expecting to burn the midnight oil finding time for a recap.
So...I'm offering to do one on Thursday. As some of you know, I have my Spanish class for two hours every Wednesday and would prefer not to recap on Wednesdays. Any takers for Wednesday?
I’m not able to do Wednesdays but think I agreed to Monday? Unless someone else is able to, I can give it a best effort.

Monday, pt. 1 of 3
I'm not sure where we are on recappers, but here's one for tonight, just in case. Very sorry if someone else was planning on doing this.
Devin and Aslan chat at the café. He talks of the love they have for each other but his family needs him. She agrees to go with him with a condition- when he finds out who did the shooting, he will not take revenge. She wants his word before she goes home with him. He thinks about it but after a long pause, it’s clear he can’t do it. She tells him as much, that he doesn’t really want to clean up the family business. He says nothing and she leaves him in the café to think about what a stupid thing he just did, letting her go.
Yagmur and Eko snuggle up in the hospital bed. I don’t know if this will end well for Eko but I’m hopeful for both of them.
Turgot and the other guy (it’s not on my cheatsheet) drive up to something and hide weapons under their jackets. Guy working there says they have to go, but they bash him in the head instead and enter, armed and ready for a fight. Shooting happens. They are about to enter the building when shots fire out. In the end, they get in and ask the guy they just shot in the arm about Ati. He doesn’t know what they’re talking about, until a little convincing from Turgot who put a gun in the guy’s mouth.
Aslan is home with Mommy, who asks if she’s coming. It’s just the two of them at The Table. She asks who could have done this. He responds, “You”. (He's accusing her?) Then she points out says her son is there but Devin, no. She tells him to look her in the eyes and demands to know if he is going to seek revenge against her mother. Is that right? this is an odd conversation even for Hulya and why is he even there? After telling Devin that his family need him, it seems his mom doesn’t. Maybe he could just work on helping Leyla and Ceylan move out since they are adults and shouldn’t have to stay. It’s a commercial and I’m rambling. Sorry.
Tolga is on him phone at midnight when Leyla enters the room. He starts grabbing at her and she responds with some irritable aggression. “You want this?” She pushes a kiss on him and then starts to vomit, as any of us would. But I assume this means she’s pregnant?
Devin reads an article about their blood wedding.
Turgot, who I am growing fond of, is waiting for Devin while eating in the car. When she comes down, he offers her one of his “tostadas”. Not sure what these really are but they are not tostadas- they look more like empanadas or stuffed bread of some kind. She takes one. He asks her for an easier time today please and tells her he’s a little afraid of her (as he should be). They chat.
Aslan is still at The House and The Table. Ceylan has earphones on trying to ignore everyone and listen to her music. Grandma asks Aslan about his bride. He lies that she left early but Grandma points out that she wasn’t there last night. Grandma gets in a dig to Hulya about her reign ending. Leyla skips breakfast and says it’s time for her to go. Aslan tells her to go with a couple guys and Hulya wants to go with her as well. Leyla says “com mucho gusto” but I’m not sure she means it. As they’re leaving, Aslan stops mom to apologize for what he said the day before. He asks if he can get a smile and she says no, but they’re all good.
Monday, pt. 2 of 3
Devin goes to Ilkay’s place (her shrink friend). She asks Turgot to wait in the car, or maybe said he could go?, but he won’t. She finally asks him if he is ok with waiting outside the apartment. He agrees. And who is there waiting inside but Cihan!
Leyla and Hulya are at the gravesite of her ex, I think? Leyla questions her about the family and how she is treated and and what is normal. It’s a heart to heart about her mother not loving her, but it doesn’t work because Hulya doesn’t have a heart. Hulya walks away and gets in the car to wait for Leyla.
Ati, the filmmaker in hiding, is at some big house on top of a hill talking on the phone about how no one will find him there. We hear a helicopter in the background so yea, he was wrong. What’s this?, he wonders and walks over to the copter where he sees a henchman and Aslan get out. He runs away into the house but it’s got lots of glass and glass in Turkey breaks. He ends up in the garage running from the henchman but when the door opens, Aslan is there. He tells Aslan they can resolve this by talking. One of the henchmen puts a black bag over his head.
Cihan welcomes Devin to the family. Cihan asks if he should call her doctor or friend, are they in session? She says no, and he can call her whatever he wants. She asks if Aslan has killed someone and she wants the truth. He shows her a book and says “you know”. The book is Machiavelli. Cihan isn’t clear about the actual answer but he talks about power and how Devin loves Aslan.
Meanwhile, Aslan and his men are in the helicopter with Ati. They fly over the sea and the bag is put back over his head when they open the door and hold him out of it while he begs for his life. I was sure Aslan would pull him back in, but nope. He pushes Ati out. So much for that Soykan documentary.
But never mind because turns out the copter had moved to a spot just a few feet over solid ground- a cemetery -and Ati is fine. But probably cancelling the Soykan film anyway. He cries.
Cihan tells Devin she has an enemy and has to fight. He’s referring to Hulya. He tells her she has to go to the house and fight Hulya and some day she’ll understand what it is to be a Soykan. He also says it doesn’t matter if Aslan has killed someone. And since they are talking so openly, she says, she wants to ask about his father. He moves to sit on the table right in front of her but doesn’t respond. She gives him the book back and leaves. She walks past Turgot and gets in the car. She ignores him when he asks if she’s ok and calls someone.
Yagmur gets the call and gets up from Eko’s bed and out to the hall to take it. The pills fell out of her pocket and Eko finds it. Devin asks about Eko and their mother, who Yagmur forgot about. She tells Devin about the selling of their house. Devin is ticked that she’s just finding out about this now but she’ll figure it out, and directs Turgot to head to her mom’s house.
Eko grills Yagmur about the pills and thinks she stayed with him for the drugs. She’s angry and offended and yells at him. She tells him “vete al diablo” and storms out.
Monday, pt. 3 of 3
Devin’s parents are fighting outside the house. Nese is upset at having the leave, Ergun doesn’t care. Devin send Nese inside and Ergun says he heard about the wedding and asks if she’s ok. So now you care about your daughters? He’s annoyed at her but then takes a call.
Aslan talks to Tio Ibo who is chopping up some meat at his restaurant. Aslan tells Ibo that someone called Ati to flee after the shooting. Looks like all the guests at the restaurant have had their bills paid so they leave immediately so Aslan can continue his talk with Ibo in private.
Aslan makes accusations at Ibo but Ibo isn’t having it. He didn’t do anything wrong. Aslan reminds him his own mother was there. What kind of man is he? What kind of son? Ibo warns him not to go to far or he’ll lose everything. Aslan warns right back. The head henchman whose name I don’t remember shows Aslan a photo of a criminal and tells him about this but someone will have to help out with the convo. Aslan remembers the conversation with Devin when she asked for him to promise to not get revenge. I couldn’t tell if Aslan knows that Ibo did the shooting or if he’s making threats to find out what happened.
And now we have two days to discuss and correct what I missed because tomorrow we are off so everyone can at least celebrate bipartisanly about not having to see or listen to or throw away any more political ads for at least a year. Yay!
K
Kat in SC, SpanProf, UA, Darcy, Novelera, Susan & Halimacandy: Any of y'all doing the recap of last night's episode ?
I'm looking forward to seeing it.
Steve I watched it but I'm busy with 4 grands today so if I do anything it will be this evening.
If this novela doesn't start moving along from the B.S. kidnapping..wow..this show has a lot of potential it seems wasted..is this the slow buildup? to what??
I hope dopefiend/ abused Anna can really get it together..she is the key to it all...
Gracias, K. Super storytelling. Loved your wit, like " She [Leyla] pushes a kiss on him [Tolga] and then starts to vomit, as any of us would.
At The Table, I do think Aslan was accusing his mom of being behind Eko's shooting, in as few words as he could. It seems in the end though that she's innocent in this case. All the same, I'm glad he's aware that Hulya is capable of some rotten stuff.
I was surprised to see Cihan at Devin's friend's place and even more surprised that he spoke well of Aslan. I'm sure Cihan's decision no more therapy with him doesn't mean he won't try to be her friend.
Yagmur is insulted that Eko accused her of staying for the drugs. Well, he was the main attraction but she couldn't resist the bonus. And how could she forget her troubled mom is being evicted?
The drop of Ati was well done. Funny when right after he says "no one will find me here" we hear the helicopter. I'm not clear though on whether he had something to do with the shooting and why he fled in the first place.
Strange that Ibo was chopping meat. Maybe this is a way for him to relax, or nobody chops right for him?
I'm going to make observations as I watch. It beats the news.
I don't think Leyla is pregnant . I think she truly is revolted by her husband. He almost had a "been there done that" look on his face when she hit the porcelain god.
So Turgut it can't talk about sports. It causes his blood pressure etc to rise and it's against medical advice. I'd think the Mafia is a bit worse than sports, but....
Leyla and Hulya. Something is said that makes me wonder about her paternity. Also, the fact that her mother did not approve of her loving the dead guy. I was correct about the reason she had to leave. Did you notice the time when Leyla's husband put the moves on her. It was right after midnight, the anniversary of the ex's death. Along the family mystery front. Could the youngest daughter, Ceylan, actually be Leyla's daughter. All along it seems she is way to young for Hulya to have been able to birth her, .
Cihan and Devin's talk. She asks why he can't get over the death of his father. (I wonder if it wasn't suicide and Cihan was responsible). Good for you realizing the book was Machiavelli, K.
K..thank you for the excellent report in all the drama.
Turgut is starting to be my favorite part of his dizi. I got a kick when he stepped just outside that door and evidently intended to stand right there. He's taking his job of being Devin's body hard very seriously .
Creepy , crude Tolga with his preppy sweater wrapped around his shoulders gives me the giggles.
I think Cihan is a good guy. Mama is the monster. Susan
Thanks so much, K., for the fine recap. Your humor is especially welcomed as so much of this dizi is so dark. And, yes, I pity the guys who haul away our recyclables once a week. They're probably jumping with joy because at long last there are no political mailers and/or hit pieces.
I'm finding it hard to stomach the relationship between Aslan and Hulya. I have a son. I adore him and am proud he's an adult who makes his own decisions. Hulya's diabolical machinations drive me nuts. A point in fact was the, for me, big reveal that Cihan showed up for "therapy" at his mother's bidding. And presumably to get ammunition to use against Devin.
I am also getting fond of Turgot. You can tell he's doing his job but is growing fond of Devin and, at the same time, exasperated that she won't let him protect her as much as Aslan (and he himself) would like.
I got a belly laugh out of "Glass breaks in Turkey" as a callback to the frustrating scene of Mariana beating her fists against a door that had LARGE glass panels in it.
Cihan, man of mystery. It's hard to tell where his loyalties lie. They've portrayed him as a guy who goes after Aslan's leftovers. Is that what's going on with Devin? Or is he genuinely trying to help her. Pretty amazing coincidence Iskay had a copy of The Prince right there on his bookshelf. Per the wiki: "The Prince appears to take it for granted that immoral acts are justified if they can help achieve political glory."
Yagmur takes the cake for self-sabotage.
So...are we meant to believe that, like Goldilocks, Aslan thought: 1. It's Mommy. 2. it's a sleazy media guy, and then 3. just the right size, his uncle? These dizi writers are experts at messing with our heads. I'm still not sure if Ibo did it.
Thanks for the recap, K. Glad you are on board for Mondays.
K, the “other guy” is Iskoç. I refer to him as Isko. The man Turgut and Isko went to see was Lokman. They called him Ati’s dealer or supplier – torbacı.
There was a slight edit: After Devin looked at wedding pics on her phone (she stopped at one with Cihan giving his congrats) she brought up Sadik Hidayet’s (Cihan) contact information. They didn’t show her making a call or text, though. Obviously, she contacted him.
Turgut was eating “tost”. You can call it the Turkish version of grilled cheese. He had one with extra cheese and one with sucuk (a type of sausage). Turgut offered her the cheese, but Devin grabbed the one with sucuk.
Lol, at Ilkay’s office Devin addressed Turgut as “Turgutcuğum” my dear Turgut. He always addresses her as “yenge”, brother’s wife (can be girlfriend, too) or uncle’s wife.
Yagmur dropped an f-bomb on Eko.
It seemed like Aslan had something to do with the buyers changing their mind about Ergun’s house. It sure took the wind out of Ergun. And Devin didn’t seem to mind that Aslan used his influence.
I think Aslan made the connection to Ibo through Ati. Ati might have said Ibo was the person who tipped him that Aslan suspected him. We only saw the visual of that convo, instead we heard Cihan and Devin talking over them. Aslan looked surprised by what Ati said.
At the kepapçı, Ibo admitted sending the guy, not to shoot anyone, but to prove the point that the security around the estate was lacking.
Isko showed Aslan a picture of the shooter, a career criminal. Somehow this guy is connected to Kursat who is trafficking drugs with Ibo. Isko also explained about the big drug shipment that’s supposed to happen. Ibo will make a huge profit if it goes through. Aslan has the opportunity to get revenge on the shooter and Ibo.
I'm afraid I don't have anything to add to what's already been said. As several people have noted, there seem to be three people who are suspect in the shooting at the wedding: Hulya, Ati, and Ibo. I have no idea which of them actually planned the disastrous event. Presumably it was the same person who hired the shooter, whose photo and name were revealed in Monday's episode. FWIW, my money is on Hulya, since she seems to have a stronger reason to ruin the wedding than either Ibo or Ati, as far as I know. She also seems to have a stronger reason to have someone shot, though that person isn't Eko but Devin. The shooter could have been aiming for Yagmur, thinking she was Devin. I suspect all this will turn out to be wrong, but....
Emilio, a la James Bond, is sleeping with the enemy (Fernanda) in hopes of finding out who killed his grandmother, I think. Or else she has hoodwinked him and he's in it for the "feliz de papa" and is over Elisa, since she married a Roberto. Emilio has a valid point in that she never looked for him in the past 10 years.
Moni saw their tryst on the boat and told Sebastian about it and his father overheard them so he is livid. If it's true he swears he'll kill them both. Emilio and Fern play it cool as if they are just business acquaintances, but arrange another tryst out of town in some hotel. Marcello thinks he is in love with her but Emilio insists it's just about the sex.
Meanwhile Alonso gets it on with Tania again. He's gave her a ring so she thinks he is serious about her. Nope, he is just out to prove how gullible she is. Elisa wants her to get into therapy to cure her addiction. Alonso is also doing it with Brenda again. Maybe Fern's suggestion to have him be her baby daddy ( in the previous episode she admitted she is not pregnant, she just said that to get her father off her back). Fernanda also wants him to seduce Moni.
Speaking of Moni, she and Fern got into a cat fight with slaps to the face going both ways regarding her telling Alfredo that she was seen making out with Emilio. Fern tells Sebastian that Moni is just trying to cause trouble. Moni also went to Tania's store for clothes befitting her new career and life among the rich and famous. I was not impressed with the outfit, but I'm no fashionista. Sebastian tells Fern to lay off Moni. Also they are planning a Vegas wedding.
Elisa wants Roberto to move back to his apartment, their marriage isn't working. He accuses her of having someone else.
BTW, Alfredo is doing his secretary, Patty, in his office.
The buyers back out of purchasing Ergun’s house. They tell Ergun they found a better house and he can keep the deposit. The man says, “çok geçmiş olsun” Devin Hanım… we heard the news, we didn’t know this was your mother’s house. Please apologize to her and send our regards to Aslan Bey. Ergun and Devin are stunned.
Devin thinks Yagmur involved Aslan in the house sale. She’s upset.
Hulya sends a small gift to Devin. It’s a name plate for her chair at (as K said) The Table. The plate says “Devin S.”. Hulya makes sure to follow it up with a phone call.
Ati has someone add Ceylan to the guest list of a party he’s throwing.
Aslan shows up at Devin’s place. She tries to shut the door on him, but he wedges his foot in. He notices the name plate and asks about it. It’s a gift from your mother, Devin answers, she sent it and then she called. Aslan tries to minimize it. Devin’s not pleased.
Devin accuses Aslan of interfering with the house sale. He claims he had no knowledge of it and had nothing to do with it. Devin thinks those people backed off just because of the reputation of the Soykans. But that doesn’t make it any better.
Aslan brings up the reporter that came to Devin’s office. He’s got her pinned against the wall and tries to make out with her. She manages to resist. He whispers, let’s go home. She rolls her eyes. He takes her hands. He tells her he found the person who shot Eko, but he didn’t do anything. I let something go and I did it for you. Now let’s go home. It will only be temporary. He’s wearing her down. She smiles.
Cihan has his father’s letter out and he recalls Devin’s words—why couldn’t you get over your father’s death? Aysel shows up. She reaches for the letter, and he angrily grabs her arm. Don’t take it out on me, she says, take it out on the person who hurt you.
Aslan gets a text from Hulya—dinner is ready, don’t be late. Devin comes into the room with her bag packed, she’s ready to head into the lion’s den.
The newlyweds enter the Soykan estate hand in hand. Devin puts the plate on her chair. Lol, she carved her name “Devin” on the back of the plate Hulya sent. Afiyet olsun, everyone!
Ceylan gets notification of Ati’s party.
Aslan gets a text from Nese: Thank you, let’s keep this between us. Don’t tell Devin about it. He erases the text.
News reports of a fire at a cement factory in Silivri. That’s Kursat’s place. Most of the employees made it out, except for Yildirim Sozen (Eko’s shooter), who died. No surprise, Aslan lied to Devin about taking revenge.
Newlyweds wake up in a loving mood, but voices of the rest of the family snap them out of it. Leyla yells at her daughter, and Seher calls for Yusuf. Aslan reminds Devin that this situation is only temporary.
Ibo is distraught over his losses. Kemal puts on the news and it’s the report of the factory fire. Ibo goes crazy and trashes the TV.
Devin heads into the kitchen to make a cup of coffee. The help tells her she will do that. Devin says no need. Devin starts talking to the woman and little Zeynep tells Devin they are not supposed to make emotional connections to the help. “We don’t pay them to talk”.
Cue Hulya, who admonishes the help for moving too slowly. Zeynep tells on Devin, that she spoke to Hava and made her own coffee. [There was an edit in the first episode. Little Zeynep followed Hulya around the house as she made her rounds, barking orders at the staff and rest of the family. The little girl was even dressed like Hulya. She’s literally and figuratively following in her grandma’s footsteps.]
Hulya clears the kitchen and tells Devin to keep her distance with the staff. Everyone should know their place. Devin shoots back, I’ll make my own coffee, and I know who to keep at a distance.
At the breakfast table. Leyla’s not eating because she’s getting bloodwork and Ceylan went off to take a test.
Seher asks Devin, you met Yusuf, right? He likes you very much. Aslan answers, yes, Dad loves Devin very much. Gelinim…gelinim… (my bride/DIL) that’s all he says. They play backgammon, and he was a little angry that she beat him. But they get along well.
Seher hopes that Yusuf will be there for her birthday. Leyla reminds Seher that Yusuf is in Russia. Seher is certain that Yusuf will come to kiss her hand.
Flashback to Yusuf at his desk. Cihan is sleeping on a sofa. Yusuf has three letters… to Aslan, Cihan, and Ibrahim. Yusuf takes his rifle and blows his brains out. The blood spatters everywhere, including on Cihan. Guessing Cihan dreamed about this. He wakes up on his sofa.
Seher gets up from the table and says it’s time to go to “the grave”. Aslan explains that’s what she calls the hospital. Devin apologizes in advance for commenting and she asks, have you considered telling her (Seher) what happened? That her son is gone?
Devin explains that people need to go through the 5 stages of grief to heal. She’s stuck at the first stage. I know you mean well, but you’re keeping her from saying goodbye to her son. Hulya replies, this isn’t your office, and we are having breakfast. The best psychiatrists are helping us deal with this. Aslan steps in to diffuse trouble. He tells Hulya that Devin has a right to speak. He tells Devin they don’t bring their work home. Father’s rules.
Aslan gets a call and leaves the table. Isko says the cops are planning a raid on all their offices. Financial Crimes unit. Aslan figures it’s Ibo’s doing in revenge for the factory fire. They have to remove the stashes of illegal gambling gains. He tells Isko he’s on his way. Aslan doesn’t tell anyone what’s going on.
Seher stops Aslan on his way out. He must take her to the grave. She’s insistent. She won’t give her blessing (helal) if he doesn’t go with her. Aslan has no choice but to text Isko—you’re in charge, I can’t go. Isko sends word out. Eko gets up from his hospital bed. Turgut gets up from his breakfast.
Hulya follows Devin outside. She’s going to work. Hulya wants a driver to take her. Devin wants to take her own car. She wants to make her own coffee. Hulya stops her and reminds Devin of The Rules set by Yusuf Soykan, and adds that Aslan is strict about them, too. She’s saying this for Devin’s sake.
Devin tells Hulya this is only for a short while. She adds, as for Aslan and me, we know each other well. [girl, you know nothing yet.] She warns Hulya, don’t meddle. I respect your values, but if your rules violate my freedom, I won’t follow them. Devin drives off in her own car.
Hulya calls Tolga over and tells him to make a paycheck deposit to Devin. [From the Turkish] Tolga questions, will Devin want this? It doesn’t matter to Hulya, it’s the family tradition. Tolga realizes that Hulya is doing this to get under Devin’s skin. Hulya denies this and says Aslan would want it. Tolga gets paid so why shouldn’t Devin. Tolga cites that he actually works for the company as the accountant. That doesn’t matter to Hulya either. He asks what to write in the comment. DIL’s salary, she replies.
Aslan and Leyla are with Seher at the hospital. He’s watching his guys get rid of evidence on his phone. The siblings try to convince a frightened Seher to get into the MRI machine. [now I understand why she calls this the grave.]
While Ibo’s crew records what Aslan’s crew is doing, Ibo comes to the hospital to see Aslan. Ibo mentions the tragedy at his friend’s factory but he’s putting that pain aside to check on his mother. Yes, Aslan says, a tragedy, and he asks, who started the fire? What happened? Do you know? Ibo answers, they say it was negligence, but no one dares to say it was done by Aslan Soykan.
Aslan smiles. Ibo asks, how will you resolve this? Aslan replies, I have to stop myself from wanting to mess you up. Did you forget the mess you made at my wedding? If you keep pushing, you won’t have a face to show around anywhere.
They cut some dialog here. Ibo mocks Aslan. My humane nephew. Of course, whose son are you? You benefit from everything that your father gave you. After the incident, you locked your bride in the estate citing security. But you don’t want the girl to know the truth. You’re right, it’s not easy to tear yourself away from your mother’s skirt. I feel sorry for this girl. She’s a psychologist, right? She will not be able to heal you, but you all will drive this girl crazy.
Aslan counters with, sometimes I’m mad at grandma. She didn’t love you as much as she loved dad. It’s a pity.
Ibo’s crew texts him: “Money’s in the truck. We’re following them.” One guy says the plan is to attack them when they reach the highway.
Leyla tries to get at the front of the lab line by using her family name. She’s surprised when it’s a no go.
Ibo gets another text: “They are cornered. We’re moving in now.”
Ibo’s crew watch as Isko and Turgut start to unload their truck. Isko shoots at one of the barrels. Liquid pours out. Turgut and Isko walk over to Ibo’s guys and tells them to get out of the car. We have a truck full of beer, Turgut says. He asks them, are you looking for Eko?
Eko is the one who is transporting the money. Turgut and Isko were decoys. Isko texts Aslan that the bait was taken. Aslan turns to Ibo and tells him to check his phone. Ibo’s guys inform him the mission was a bust.
Aslan tells Ibo if he needs money, if he’s in trouble, he should just ask. But you just take what isn’t yours, he notes, It’s your nature. You lack the courage to face people and fight.
Ibo mocks again, I’m scared but you’re not? Of course not, you are Aslan Soykan. Maybe you’re terrified of the empire your father amassed at your age. You’re a worm compared to him. And BTW, you’ve yet to open your letter. Why? Cihan already read his. I read mine. Don’t be a coward. He left you in charge and you betrayed your father’s trust to clean up the messes he left.
This convo is interrupted by Seher acting up during testing.
Leyla sort of apologizes to the lab tech for her behavior. She doesn’t like hospitals because they remind her of death. The tech mentions Leyla’s tattoo— “saudade”. Portuguese for a feeling of longing, melancholy, or nostalgia for something lost. A happiness and a sadness all at once. The tech says there are births and deaths at the hospital every day so happiness and sadness are always present. There are more births than deaths, so happiness prevails.
Leyla asks the tech if she knows Portuguese. Enough to get by, she replies. Leyla smiles, I know what you mean. She thanks the tech and notes her name, Cemre.
Cihan is parked near Devin’s office and he watches as she arrives. He thinks back to her question, why didn’t you get over your father’s death? He becomes agitated and barges into her office. He wipes some books off her desk. He grabs her diploma from the wall. What is this?! He smashes it on the floor.
Devin asks Ayca to leave the room while Cihan trashes the place. Devin stands by and watches.
And we are out.
Dondi, wow..thank you so much for that great recap that brings us every moment . I haven't had a chance to watch this episode yet. i went to bed early. I only saw the beginning ..Now , when I watch it, I will know what people are saying and not have to go by just the visual.
Brava to Devin for standing up to Her domineering MIL. I can't imagine what it would be like to fall in love with someone and then get a MIL like sour, dour Hulya. My MIL was very sweet.
That's quite a dangerous game that Asian is playing with Uncle Ibo.
Aslan's men are very loyal to him .It reminds me of Don Luis's loyal bodyguard , best friend, and lawyer in Alborado. They were like his brothers
I guess Nese or Yagmur asked Asian for help to keep the house . Devin has an interesting family, too. Susan
Susan, I think it was Nese who asked for Aslan's help. She later thanked him by text and said to keep it secret. He erased the text.
Dondi, thanks VERY much for this terrific recap. You cleared up a number of things I missed or that weren't even mentioned. For example, Ibo's mocking Aslan and finally telling him that "[Devin] will not be able to heal you, but you all will drive this girl crazy." I'm really surprised they left this out.
And how did you know that Eko was tranporting the money? Did someone say so and I just missed it? I was surprised to see Eko in a car, and I had no idea where he was going or what he was doing.
I'm finding this dizi more difficult to follow and understand than any other dizi or novela I've watched. I'm not yet sure why this is, but I'm extremely grateful to you for providing such full, clear, and often delightful accounts.
Name tags on the dining room chairs! How strange. I was expecting someone's ear or a hand in the gift box since this is a Mafia type story. I did expect Devin to correct the name tag, but expected her last name initial.
Seems like Aslan should buy Devin's mom's house and let his suegra keep her roof over her head.
What is with all the texts flying at midnight?
Devin and Aslan can't get their own place soon enough. It may be a big house but voices definitely carry.
Now I wonder if Leyla's ex was a female. She almost seemed to be interested in the phlebotomist.
I didn’t have much time this morning but I wanted to get something posted. I might not have been detailed or clear enough. Sorry.
Juanita, I agree, how could they edit the convo between Ibo and Aslan? I wonder who does the edits and translations for the foreign versions? Is it Telemundo?
I had no idea Eko had the money until Turgut asked Ibo’s guys, are you looking for Eko? Then there was the quick cut to Eko riding in the truck. And there was also a brief flashback to Eko looking at boxes of money in storage somewhere.
Kat, I like how you think. I wondered if Aslan would buy the house. A simple solution. It would be great for Nese but it would be bad for Aslan’s marriage. Devin would go bonkers.
You also speculated in an earlier post that Ceylan could be Leyla’s daughter. That’s a possibility.
“She almost seemed to be interested in the phlebotomist.” ITA, it was a little strange. Maybe they just bonded over the “saudade” thing. The Turks avoid gay topics.
This is sort of a blink and you miss it show. Lots of subtleties. Hmm… what is that character thinking? Head scratching edits and confusing translations. Throw in some red herrings, too. At least this is a relatively short dizi. We are in episode 6 of 30 Turkish eps.
Gracias, Dondi. Riveting recap. Thanks for clarifying the dueling steps between Aslan and Obi and that Eko was transporting the switched canisters.
At first I wondered if Turgut might've been the one who told Aslan about Nese getting evicted since he'd overheard Devin on the phone about it. So it was Nese herself who went to Aslan. Turgut did point out though that Devin smiled when the home buyers backed off and she thought Aslan was behind this (which it turns out he is but lies about it).
I wish Aslan and Devin could have a HEA. So sweet when he kisses her on top of her head. But I fear Obi could be right about this: " She [Devin] will not be able to heal you [Aslan], but you all will drive this girl crazy." Aslan shows restraint and cunning, but violence is a part of his life and I see Devin eventually having to confront this. Like Cihan said when she asked him if Aslan had ever killed anyone, why was she asking him something that she already knew the answer to.
Ugh, Leyla's daughter is a mess and surely Ceylan will be easing pickings for whatever Ati has planned.
Juanita and Dondi, I watched an online non-Telemundo version because I missed TV last night, so I got the epi complete with Obi's quote.
Devin is the best female lead I've seen in a while. Strong, flawed, and in love.
Thanks, Niecie. You could be right that Turgut informed Aslan about the house. And I wondered how Nese had Aslan's number. However it happened, Aslan made it happen fast. Those buyers were nervous.
ITA, I would like to see an HEA for Aslan and Devin. Yeah, but the ish is gonna hit the fan first.
Name tags on chairs is very strange. They're family. They know each other and there aren't that many of them. If they have to sit in the same place every time like they're in school and can't handle a different view, they should know where everyone sits. But I liked Devin's handling of the situation, making it clear that she may be at The Table but she's not putting up with the nonsense.
But her rage when she finds out about Aslan's lies is going to go through the roof. I hope she keeps a spare set of her car keys somewhere safe and that she didn't use the good glue to put the nameplate on her chair.
I also hope she gives that Zeynep a talking to before she goes. It would be better coming from her mother, Leyla, to fix her snottiness but Leyla might not be capable. Maybe if they bring the nurse in to watch Seher then Leyla will have time to parent her little brat kid better.
So I guess Eko is all better now? More importantly, WHO IS FEEDING THE DOGGIE?
K
Kat, tanks for the recap. Does Fernanda's friend , the dress shop owner , know tat Fern is a stone cold killer ?
I can't believe tat Francisco Emilio gave in to her charms . susan
Susan, Mirna seems to be Fern's unpaid psychoanalyst and knows everything. I probably should have mentioned her scenes but they tend to be a replay of events that happened and I wanted to post a shorter than usual recap as this one doesn't seem to get many comments. I was confused who owned the clothing store. I thought it was Tania ( I imagined daddy owns it and she runs it). I thought Mirna was an employee there, but I was confused when Mirna first entered the story and never went back to rewatch with English CC's.
Emilio is seemingly just in it for the sex with Fern. Both he and Fern have a theme song, along with him and Elisa. Does that signify anything. They really are going a fairly different storyline than Pura Sangre so it is keeping me guessing. I still say Tania does not deserve Marcelo, but Ana could. Her future love interest may be the guy that rescued her from the sanitarium though.
I forgot to mention Claudia had a hot and heavy date with the guy Fern hired to find Ana.
Kat, I am mostly watching because I am Fascinated with Fernanda. She is one twisted villain with a beautiful wardrobe and that dark red lipstick. What a vibora. Also, I like Davis Carrea. Susan
