Looks like I'm off the hook for a Tuesday recap. I'm grateful Telemundo is going with election coverage because I'll be glued to my TV looking at both California and nationwide results. I was expecting to burn the midnight oil finding time for a recap.

So...I'm offering to do one on Thursday. As some of you know, I have my Spanish class for two hours every Wednesday and would prefer not to recap on Wednesdays. Any takers for Wednesday?

I’m not able to do Wednesdays but think I agreed to Monday? Unless someone else is able to, I can give it a best effort.

Monday, pt. 1 of 3
I'm not sure where we are on recappers, but here's one for tonight, just in case. Very sorry if someone else was planning on doing this.

Devin and Aslan chat at the café. He talks of the love they have for each other but his family needs him. She agrees to go with him with a condition- when he finds out who did the shooting, he will not take revenge. She wants his word before she goes home with him. He thinks about it but after a long pause, it’s clear he can’t do it. She tells him as much, that he doesn’t really want to clean up the family business. He says nothing and she leaves him in the café to think about what a stupid thing he just did, letting her go.

Yagmur and Eko snuggle up in the hospital bed. I don’t know if this will end well for Eko but I’m hopeful for both of them.

Turgot and the other guy (it’s not on my cheatsheet) drive up to something and hide weapons under their jackets. Guy working there says they have to go, but they bash him in the head instead and enter, armed and ready for a fight. Shooting happens. They are about to enter the building when shots fire out. In the end, they get in and ask the guy they just shot in the arm about Ati. He doesn’t know what they’re talking about, until a little convincing from Turgot who put a gun in the guy’s mouth.

Aslan is home with Mommy, who asks if she’s coming. It’s just the two of them at The Table. She asks who could have done this. He responds, “You”. (He's accusing her?) Then she points out says her son is there but Devin, no. She tells him to look her in the eyes and demands to know if he is going to seek revenge against her mother. Is that right? this is an odd conversation even for Hulya and why is he even there? After telling Devin that his family need him, it seems his mom doesn’t. Maybe he could just work on helping Leyla and Ceylan move out since they are adults and shouldn’t have to stay. It’s a commercial and I’m rambling. Sorry.

Tolga is on him phone at midnight when Leyla enters the room. He starts grabbing at her and she responds with some irritable aggression. “You want this?” She pushes a kiss on him and then starts to vomit, as any of us would. But I assume this means she’s pregnant?

Devin reads an article about their blood wedding.

Turgot, who I am growing fond of, is waiting for Devin while eating in the car. When she comes down, he offers her one of his “tostadas”. Not sure what these really are but they are not tostadas- they look more like empanadas or stuffed bread of some kind. She takes one. He asks her for an easier time today please and tells her he’s a little afraid of her (as he should be). They chat.

Aslan is still at The House and The Table. Ceylan has earphones on trying to ignore everyone and listen to her music. Grandma asks Aslan about his bride. He lies that she left early but Grandma points out that she wasn’t there last night. Grandma gets in a dig to Hulya about her reign ending. Leyla skips breakfast and says it’s time for her to go. Aslan tells her to go with a couple guys and Hulya wants to go with her as well. Leyla says “com mucho gusto” but I’m not sure she means it. As they’re leaving, Aslan stops mom to apologize for what he said the day before. He asks if he can get a smile and she says no, but they’re all good.

Monday, pt. 2 of 3

Devin goes to Ilkay’s place (her shrink friend). She asks Turgot to wait in the car, or maybe said he could go?, but he won’t. She finally asks him if he is ok with waiting outside the apartment. He agrees. And who is there waiting inside but Cihan!

Leyla and Hulya are at the gravesite of her ex, I think? Leyla questions her about the family and how she is treated and and what is normal. It’s a heart to heart about her mother not loving her, but it doesn’t work because Hulya doesn’t have a heart. Hulya walks away and gets in the car to wait for Leyla.

Ati, the filmmaker in hiding, is at some big house on top of a hill talking on the phone about how no one will find him there. We hear a helicopter in the background so yea, he was wrong. What’s this?, he wonders and walks over to the copter where he sees a henchman and Aslan get out. He runs away into the house but it’s got lots of glass and glass in Turkey breaks. He ends up in the garage running from the henchman but when the door opens, Aslan is there. He tells Aslan they can resolve this by talking. One of the henchmen puts a black bag over his head.

Cihan welcomes Devin to the family. Cihan asks if he should call her doctor or friend, are they in session? She says no, and he can call her whatever he wants. She asks if Aslan has killed someone and she wants the truth. He shows her a book and says “you know”. The book is Machiavelli. Cihan isn’t clear about the actual answer but he talks about power and how Devin loves Aslan.

Meanwhile, Aslan and his men are in the helicopter with Ati. They fly over the sea and the bag is put back over his head when they open the door and hold him out of it while he begs for his life. I was sure Aslan would pull him back in, but nope. He pushes Ati out. So much for that Soykan documentary.

But never mind because turns out the copter had moved to a spot just a few feet over solid ground- a cemetery -and Ati is fine. But probably cancelling the Soykan film anyway. He cries.

Cihan tells Devin she has an enemy and has to fight. He’s referring to Hulya. He tells her she has to go to the house and fight Hulya and some day she’ll understand what it is to be a Soykan. He also says it doesn’t matter if Aslan has killed someone. And since they are talking so openly, she says, she wants to ask about his father. He moves to sit on the table right in front of her but doesn’t respond. She gives him the book back and leaves. She walks past Turgot and gets in the car. She ignores him when he asks if she’s ok and calls someone.

Yagmur gets the call and gets up from Eko’s bed and out to the hall to take it. The pills fell out of her pocket and Eko finds it. Devin asks about Eko and their mother, who Yagmur forgot about. She tells Devin about the selling of their house. Devin is ticked that she’s just finding out about this now but she’ll figure it out, and directs Turgot to head to her mom’s house.

Eko grills Yagmur about the pills and thinks she stayed with him for the drugs. She’s angry and offended and yells at him. She tells him “vete al diablo” and storms out.

Monday, pt. 3 of 3

Devin’s parents are fighting outside the house. Nese is upset at having the leave, Ergun doesn’t care. Devin send Nese inside and Ergun says he heard about the wedding and asks if she’s ok. So now you care about your daughters? He’s annoyed at her but then takes a call.

Aslan talks to Tio Ibo who is chopping up some meat at his restaurant. Aslan tells Ibo that someone called Ati to flee after the shooting. Looks like all the guests at the restaurant have had their bills paid so they leave immediately so Aslan can continue his talk with Ibo in private.

Aslan makes accusations at Ibo but Ibo isn’t having it. He didn’t do anything wrong. Aslan reminds him his own mother was there. What kind of man is he? What kind of son? Ibo warns him not to go to far or he’ll lose everything. Aslan warns right back. The head henchman whose name I don’t remember shows Aslan a photo of a criminal and tells him about this but someone will have to help out with the convo. Aslan remembers the conversation with Devin when she asked for him to promise to not get revenge. I couldn’t tell if Aslan knows that Ibo did the shooting or if he’s making threats to find out what happened.

And now we have two days to discuss and correct what I missed because tomorrow we are off so everyone can at least celebrate bipartisanly about not having to see or listen to or throw away any more political ads for at least a year. Yay!

"VENGANZA" HIGHLIGHTS DISCUSSION
Kat in SC, SpanProf, UA, Darcy, Novelera, Susan & Halimacandy: Any of y'all doing the recap of last night's episode ?

I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Venganza

Steve I watched it but I'm busy with 4 grands today so if I do anything it will be this evening.

Sed Veng.

If this novela doesn't start moving along from the B.S. kidnapping..wow..this show has a lot of potential it seems wasted..is this the slow buildup? to what??
I hope dopefiend/ abused Anna can really get it together..she is the key to it all...

Gracias, K. Super storytelling. Loved your wit, like " She [Leyla] pushes a kiss on him [Tolga] and then starts to vomit, as any of us would.

At The Table, I do think Aslan was accusing his mom of being behind Eko's shooting, in as few words as he could. It seems in the end though that she's innocent in this case. All the same, I'm glad he's aware that Hulya is capable of some rotten stuff.

I was surprised to see Cihan at Devin's friend's place and even more surprised that he spoke well of Aslan. I'm sure Cihan's decision no more therapy with him doesn't mean he won't try to be her friend.

Yagmur is insulted that Eko accused her of staying for the drugs. Well, he was the main attraction but she couldn't resist the bonus. And how could she forget her troubled mom is being evicted?

The drop of Ati was well done. Funny when right after he says "no one will find me here" we hear the helicopter. I'm not clear though on whether he had something to do with the shooting and why he fled in the first place.

Strange that Ibo was chopping meat. Maybe this is a way for him to relax, or nobody chops right for him?

I'm going to make observations as I watch. It beats the news.

I don't think Leyla is pregnant . I think she truly is revolted by her husband. He almost had a "been there done that" look on his face when she hit the porcelain god.

So Turgut it can't talk about sports. It causes his blood pressure etc to rise and it's against medical advice. I'd think the Mafia is a bit worse than sports, but....

Leyla and Hulya. Something is said that makes me wonder about her paternity. Also, the fact that her mother did not approve of her loving the dead guy. I was correct about the reason she had to leave. Did you notice the time when Leyla's husband put the moves on her. It was right after midnight, the anniversary of the ex's death. Along the family mystery front. Could the youngest daughter, Ceylan, actually be Leyla's daughter. All along it seems she is way to young for Hulya to have been able to birth her, .
Cihan and Devin's talk. She asks why he can't get over the death of his father. (I wonder if it wasn't suicide and Cihan was responsible). Good for you realizing the book was Machiavelli, K.

K..thank you for the excellent report in all the drama.

Turgut is starting to be my favorite part of his dizi. I got a kick when he stepped just outside that door and evidently intended to stand right there. He's taking his job of being Devin's body hard very seriously .

Creepy , crude Tolga with his preppy sweater wrapped around his shoulders gives me the giggles.

I think Cihan is a good guy. Mama is the monster. Susan

Thanks so much, K., for the fine recap. Your humor is especially welcomed as so much of this dizi is so dark. And, yes, I pity the guys who haul away our recyclables once a week. They're probably jumping with joy because at long last there are no political mailers and/or hit pieces.

I'm finding it hard to stomach the relationship between Aslan and Hulya. I have a son. I adore him and am proud he's an adult who makes his own decisions. Hulya's diabolical machinations drive me nuts. A point in fact was the, for me, big reveal that Cihan showed up for "therapy" at his mother's bidding. And presumably to get ammunition to use against Devin.

I am also getting fond of Turgot. You can tell he's doing his job but is growing fond of Devin and, at the same time, exasperated that she won't let him protect her as much as Aslan (and he himself) would like.

I got a belly laugh out of "Glass breaks in Turkey" as a callback to the frustrating scene of Mariana beating her fists against a door that had LARGE glass panels in it.

Cihan, man of mystery. It's hard to tell where his loyalties lie. They've portrayed him as a guy who goes after Aslan's leftovers. Is that what's going on with Devin? Or is he genuinely trying to help her. Pretty amazing coincidence Iskay had a copy of The Prince right there on his bookshelf. Per the wiki: "The Prince appears to take it for granted that immoral acts are justified if they can help achieve political glory."

Yagmur takes the cake for self-sabotage.

So...are we meant to believe that, like Goldilocks, Aslan thought: 1. It's Mommy. 2. it's a sleazy media guy, and then 3. just the right size, his uncle? These dizi writers are experts at messing with our heads. I'm still not sure if Ibo did it.
