The info bombs were dropping left and right in this episode! It was a very interesting one!!
First, we learned why Sibel was mixed up in all this shady business. She was trying to earn the money for her dad's surgery so he could walk again. Which I think makes Fatma a horrible mother!!! I mean I get wanting to help dad, but she's putting her daughter's LIFES in danger and as far as I can understand dad's life isn't in danger. And now she's bringing daughter #2 to Fatih even after Sibel ended up dead just because dad's surgery is at the end of next month and they gotta get the money NOW???
Speaking of Fatma she went off on Omer too, because he wouldn't allow her to take her pound of flesh from Asli the supposed killer of Sibel. Omer tried to explain that they were just questioning Asli and they didn't know yet if she was the killer but Fatma just insulted Omer and said he's more interested in protecting his lover's family than he is in his loyalty to them!! What a wonderful mother-in-law she would have been!
Headway was made in the Omer and Elif standoff when Pelin explains to Elif that Omer didn't have anything to do with the police coming to their house and that he was as mad as she was when he found out about it but the big boss was standing right there when they heard the recording of Asli threatening daddy so there's nothing they could do to stop it. Pelin assures Elif that when Omer makes a promise he does everything in his power to keep it even if it means risking his own life.
Elif relents and goes to talk to Omer. Omer admits to Elif that he doesn't think Asli did it, but the evidence looks bad, and Asli is refusing to speak so he can't do anything to clear her. They talk some more, and Omer gets an idea. He rushes off to check and lead even though Pelin tells him Hessyn wanted him to stay put. He tells Elif to wait at the station, but she follows him in a cab.
When she gets there, he's at first upset, but she reminds him that they are a team. He's going to help her find out who killed her dad and she's going to help him find out who killed his fiancé. Omer relents. They have come to the Denizer company and are talking to the guards. I guess before they only talked to the dayshift guards which was silly. Anyway, the guard confirms that Asli was there that night and she was pissed at daddy! She was ranting and railing, but daddy wasn't there - They missed each other. Asli left in a cab. Omer and Elif go to the cab company and rather funnily have to wake up the cab crew to question them, but they learn that the guy did pick up Asli that night and he drove her to a hospital!!!
Omer and Elif get back to the station and Levent is there again... He tries again to be Elif's knight in shining armor but that role is filled and she's just not interested so he's quickly dismissed back to the office.
Omer goes to question Asli who greets him with snide remarks about his fake Italian persona, Asli prefers the cop. Omer gets right to the point and asks her why she went to the hospital the night of the murder and that shuts her up! Asli wants to know how he knows that, and Omer wants the truth. Omer tells her that he doesn't believe she killed her father or his fiancé and he wants to help her - but she needs to tell him what is going on. Asli considers but clams up. It's clear that she's scared and just when I think we are going to get nowhere again, Omer does manage to get through.
And we learn the truth about Asli. She's PREGNANT!! That's why she quit taking her meds - they hurt the baby. And that's why she went to the hospital that night, she was having pains. She's desperate to keep the baby and for some reason I didn't fully understand she believes that they will take him from her (maybe make her give him up?) if they find out... so she made Omer promise not to tell Elif or her mom about the pregnancy. Omer promises.
So, the doctor had lied about how long Asli was in the hospital because Asli lied to mom about what time she came home, but once they are able to confirm the truth, they can prove Asli was at the hospital all night meaning she couldn't be the murderer, and she's released. This doesn't sit well with Husseyn. The boss talks about it as if he's upset because little brother is right and he is wrong, but Husseyn says somethings still not right - something is going on in that family. Which I still think might be true - cough cough *Taner* but it doesn't mean Asli should sit in jail until they can figure it out - she's innocent.
Oh, we also learned it wasn't daddy that Asli almost shot in the study, it was herself! I really liked the interrogation scene with Asli and Omer, it showed that against all odds these two could be decent in laws if/when it came down to it. Omer was very understanding with Asli and Asli might not be so bad on her meds, we don't know. I felt for her when she was describing how isolating it felt to be hospitalized and how no one understood her.
Speaking of Taner, I loved the scene of him trying to be all 'I can't wait anymore I have to go find out what's going on with my wife' and Zerrin's all you were perfectly calm leaving her alone all night when you left the station last night, you shouldn't have any issues being calm now!!! LOL Even the look on his face was priceless! I'm not the biggest fan of Zerrin but she was 100% dead-on in that scene, what a tool!
This was indeed an episode full of information, Darcy! Sibel’s mother Fatma is awful. She insults Omer. IIRC she has been withdrawing money from Sibel’s. They no doubt need it. But now not enough for operation and she manipulates Hatice into offering to be a courier.
Very dangerous. Fatma should do it herself!
Levent keeps turning up like bad penny. I cheer when Elif brushes him off!
Nice scene continuing fron end of last episode where Omer keeping watch. Elif falls asleep. He covers with his coat. We see stars in the night sky while the production plays the upbeat music for Elif & Omer. Elif inhales Omer’s aroma from the jacket.
Elif goes later to return jacket . Pelin tells her they are both alike. When you persist, it’s hell for everyone around you. Elif says she’s not stubborn. Pelin replies, Obviously, and continues. Omer tried to keep his word to you and explains that he was outranked. Then gives jacket back so Elif can return it in his new office there. She watches him from doorway, and when Omer finally notices her, his face shows such pleasure, pure Engin!
Eventually, after doing some things as a team, they make an agreement. Elif says he needs her. “You help me to save my sister and I’ll help you find who murdered Sibel.”
They find out that Asli came to Denizer Holding after Ahmed left. Then they find taxi that she took from Denizer Holding, taking her to hospital, not murder scene.
Tayyar has Fatih meet him at a piranha exhibit and proceeds to educate him ( and us, shudder, on these fish. Tayyer says if Fatih messes up agsin, he will throw to the piranhas. Personally, I think he wouldn't waste body parts that way, but Fatih seems impressed with the threat. Tayyer keeps going on about family. Fatih: Because of how I did it, all the interest is on the family. No one is looking at us!
Tayyer mentions exchanging diamonds at Bazaar. I wonder if a different jeweler.
More to follow!
Babachita
I also liked how Omer interacted with Asli, Dondi. He showed genuine concern while remaining mostly professional. We now know Asli is pregnant and terrified of Zerrin finding out. She is also terrified of clinics. Sounds like she was badly treated at the cliinic/s that Ahmed sent her to.
I was nervous that Omer kept looking at the camera during their interview. Was someone watching? Surely he took care to keep it private?
Elif is upset that Omer keeps his word to Asli and doesn’t tell.
It was indeed fun when Zerrin put Taner in his place. She told him to give Elif a break. At least Taner slept in a warm, comfortable place, since he didn’t stay at police station. (Probably with Pinar!)
Husseyn was really upset to let Asli go. Ali told him to relax. We all make mistakes from time to time. After Husseyn is alone, he removes Sibel’s photo from the big board and slaps it on his desk. He is obviously still upset.
I’m really enjoying the police procedural aspect of this dizi as much as the romantic story. It is a complex case with many moving parts.
Babachita
OOH... thanks for this: 'Tayyer keeps going on about family. Fatih: Because of how I did it, all the interest is on the family. No one is looking at us!
Tayyer mentions exchanging diamonds at Bazaar. I wonder if a different jeweler.'
I totally missed that!!! Probably because I was grossed out by those fishes! I must have cringed or something and stopped listening!!
Darcy, that conversation at the piranha exhibit was weird. I think the choice of that location was to frighten Fatih. I was impressed with Fatih not showing fear. I guess growing up with Tayyar would either make you impervious to horror or unable to function. Having seen this before, albeit years ago, this time I’m fascinated with the side stories. In a way, the story of Fatih is a compelling story all on its own. What a hellish young life he had growing up with all that horror. Tayyer kept Mert away to protect him. Fatih is a stronger man than Mert, perhaps because he wasn't sheltered.
I was confused with all the talk about diamonds. Tayyer implied Fatih was unaware of the big picture. He compared him to a piranha so obsessed with swallowing its prey that it’s unaware of what is happening around it. Tayyar: You have no idea about the changing of diamonds at the Bazaar, have you? I wasn’t sure what Tayyar was saying. Fatih asked which diamonds? Where are they changing them? Tayyar said I don’t know. That’s what you need to find out.
Do we know the background of the diamonds? How do they fit into the money laundering? And there are also fake diamonds?
This dizi is so full of details! The mysteries make it fascinating!
Babachita
Reflecting further on the diamonds, Ahmed must have been smuggling diamonds way back using his boxes with secret compartments, showing these to a young Elif. Was he in business on his own or with Tayyar at that point? Or with someone else, even?
Babachita
There are also fake diamonds because the diamonds that Omer found were fake diamonds, and the one Sibel tried to sell at the Bazaar was fake…. Unless it wasn’t? Maybe that is what Tayyar is saying? The jeweler said Sibel was surprised when he told her the diamond was fake and I assumed that she took in a fake diamond and pretended to be surprised when she got caught. Or perhaps she didn’t know it was fake and maybe really was surprised, but what if it wasn’t fake and the jeweler switched it out for a fake diamond? That would fit the statement ‘they are changing the diamonds at the bazaar’?
BTW I will probably watch/comment on 31 tomorrow because I have plans tonight and I won’t have much time this evening.
Oooohhh! I love your idea that the diamond might have been real and the jeweler pulled a switcheroo!!
Enjoy your evening off!

I’m ready to drop dailies and aim at 5 on weekends. (No more weekdays unless you go ahead and watch the weekend ones early and wait for discussion on weekend.)
I propose lumping #31 from today into this weekend and get started. So, open discussion on anything through episode 33 on Saturday. Then 34-35 on Sunday. Any episodes can be discussed up to last number, but we try not to go further than 35, for those who are new to the story. Then weekdays off before more discussion.
Following weekend discussion will be 36-40, then. Up to 38 Sat, up to 40 Sunday.
Does this work?

I got a little distracted during this episode because my sister was texting me so I look forward to reading Bachita's summary as well to see what I missed! LOL Once again we learned a LOT!!!
First things first, Asli is set free and an excited Elif hugs Omer when he tells her. He just stands there frozen for a minute but eventually returns the embrace which ironically causes her to jump out of it! Elif then does the ackward/cute apologies for misunderstandings over the last couple of days thing and just when things are looking flirty Omer ruins it by calling them 'friends'. Elif runs off and Omer calls himself an idiot. He's proven right later when Bahar tries in vain to get Elif to focus on Levent but Elif is lamenting the fact that all she thinks of is Omer and he said the most painful thing to her, he called her 'friend'.
Manic Asli has forgotten all about how she hates Elif and she's going to remember that forever and ever, because Elif waited for her all night at the station! She hugs her sister tight and later talks about how they should spend the day together and go get mani-pedi's and braid each other's hair (no, these aren't the actual activities she suggested but you get what I mean) it's obvious to everyone the Asli is still off her meds and mom asks about it... dun dun dun.
Elif gets a call from Fatih and the maid brings her the phone, she walks off to take it. This is one of the places I got distracted. I know that he was pressuring her to perform and threatening her sisters if she didn't, but I don't remember the specifics of what is on tap at this minute. I do remember mom was standing right behind Elif when she hung up, but she either didn't hear or didn't pay attention to the conversation her daughter was having, she wanted to know about Asli - where was she that night? Why did she go? Why did she lie? Elif says she doesn't know. Mom says Omer must know why didn't Elif ask him? Elif says she did ask him, but he promised Asli, he wouldn't tell her, so he didn't. It's noteable that Elif didn't seem upset or frustrated when she communicated that to mom so she must have come to accept that answer even though she didn't initially like it when Omer said it.
Zerrin asks Asli about that night and her reasons for lying... it doesn't go well. Asli hates that mom is always pressuring her she wants her to never talk to her again, ever in her life! LOL I know it's not funny, but it made me laugh. The actress is playing the extremes of bi-polar very well. Later Tayyar visits and Zerrin relates to him how Asli is upset and Tayyar effortlessly finds out Asli's secret with one little phone call!!! I didn't understand who he called or why it was so easy for him to get that info. Zerrin is distraught and doesn't want Asli to have the baby because the baby could be born ill and/or the pregnancy could be dangerous for Asli. Zerrin wants Tayyar to do something about it? But Tayyar says (unconvincingly) that it's Asli's choice.
The biggest bomb - whatever Omer did know about Sibel or suspect, he didn't fully know she was actively involved in the diamond smuggling, but he does now!!! And it was heart wrenching!!! Belen had someone (I didn't catch if it was another detective or a PI or who) gathering video footage of Sibel from in and around the school (I think) and they found a recording of Sibel meeting with Ahmed! Belen is able to read lips and it's clear from the conversation that Sibel was trying to extort money from Ahmed because she learned that HE was switching out the real diamonds for fakes!!!
Omer is devastated by discovery that his beloved was involved in this crime circle, and he punches the wall enough to bloody his knuckles then speeds off to yell at her grave. Elif goes to follow - Belen tries to stop her but she can't be stopped - Elif loses Omer though in a traffic mishap (there was more to this, but I was distracted by a text again, I think it was a near accident though not an actual accident).
Elsewhere, Fatma says all the same things about herself that I said yesterday as Fatih changes his mind and lets her younger daughter in on the business!!! That was kind of interesting to see. She admits her husband is alive and healthy and she's ruining her second daughter's life - but she doesn't stop anything... pathetic!
I forgot to mention Taner has a diamond!!! I didn't see how/where he got it. I wonder if it's real or fake?
Omer and Elif at police station. Asli to be free in a minut. Elif higs Omer long. He eventually respnds. He ginally smiles. She apologizes. I behaved badly. He says it’s ok my heart wasn’t btoken.
My worst nightmare. Hitting publish before I was ready! Please ignore my short entry just above. More to come.
Babachita
Omer and Elif at the police station. Omer tells her Asli will be released in a minute. Elif hugs Omer in a long embrace. He eventually responds. He finally smiles. Asli apologizes I behaved badly. He says it's ok, my heart wasn't broken. Just happens. Elif says aren't you going to say something, like a rebuke? Omer says, I guess I will say, Que sera sera. He smiles. Elif says his Italian is improving. Long deep looks. Omer says nothing to understand here, just friends. He watches her with a worried look as she leaves. He exclaims I can't believe I just said we're just friends!!!
Fatma and Hatice are at a store, waiting for Fatih/Metin. Fatma: We wouldn't have come except in dire straits and really need help! FM replies I'm not going to do anything. Your late daughter/sister laid an ambush for me. Fatma: My Sibel did whatever you told her. So will Hatice.
Hatice: But now I want one or two things from you and then you''ll never see my face again. F/Metin says don't even talk to me. You sister brought that cop into the middle of the business. I still haven't gotten him out of my life. How do I know that you won't deceive me too? He looks at Fatma with disgust. Fatma: He won't know it. I swear it on my daughter's life. Omer won't know a thing.
Fatih/Metin says seems to be a trend of lying in your family. He leaves.
Fatma says to Hatice. This was my only hope. We won't be able to pay for the operation. Hatice runs after Fatih/Metin. We need this money for an operation. I promise I won't deceive you. He replies, harshly, Go on tv and raise some money. I'm not giving you a singly penny. Hatice touches him. Do you know how it feels to be totally hopeless? I'm totally hopeless now. I'm ready to commit a crime.
Fatma catches up. F/M stares at Hatice intenttly. Fatma to Hatice, Has he accepted?
Elif at home with Asli Thank you so much, says Asli. Then Nilufer, Zerrin, and Taner also thank Elif.
At Omer's home. Brothers engage in friendly banter. New roof being put on house. (They recently had rain and house was full of leaks.) Omer asks several times how Husseyn is paying for it. He offers to help. Melike says I thought he'd won the lottery. Mother says she has money put by, can help too. Husseyn: you're making a big deal about this. Omer asks if he borrowed. He said it came from the state as a cut in his salary. (Hmmm, I'm thinking maybe!)
Denizer house. Zerrin asks Asli if they gave her pills. Elif gets call from Fatih/Metin. Today is delivery day. I'll give you an address.
Zerrin to Asli What did you say to cops? Why did you sneak out, like a thief? Elif says she doesn't know. Zerrin says Omer knows Elif says he is keeping Asli's secret.
Babachita
Omer's house. Roofing noise driving them all crazy. Going to try and nap but very noisy. Melike sniffs Omer's coat and notes Elif's perfume. Driving Husseyn crazy with her snooping. Elif says that is just how she is.
Fatma and Hatice return from market. Hatice so nervous she drops a large rub of yogurt, a serious act on their tight budget. Fatma: Don't know what to do. Now there's no yogurt. I'm too old to steal. Husband will have to accept his situation. Fatih/Metin calls!
Pelin at house, feeding Handcuffs (her dog). Door knock, and Emre (friend of Pelin, a cop?, expert in IT) is there. He has been looking at nearby footage since murder and hit paydirt with footage of Ahmed and Sibel. (I'm noticing here what a great team Arda, Pelin, etc. are. Very competent.)
At Denizer house: Zerrin comes in and finds Asli and Taner. Taner wants to be alone with Asli. Zerrin: I'm your mother. I would do anything for you. I know you're hiding something from me. Elif says you told Omer. (Uh oh!)
Asli says, I'm tired. Don't talk to me ever again.
Bahar and Elif keeps pushing Levent. Elif tells her that her heart is engaged elsewhere. Omer is the first thing I think in the morning and the last before I go to sleep at night. We see Omer texting Elif from his house, it's all over, no need to stress, but then he erases it all!
At cafe, Fatih/Metin gets message that goods have been delivered from Elif. Little kid makes faces at him, and he plays along. Shows his softer side.
Fatma and Hatice arrive.
Pelin and Emre look at new footage. Pelin needs to calm down before calling Omer.
Zerrin gets Tayyar to come (Uh oh! She won't give up!) Asli hiding something from me. Tayyar wants to know what and calls Chief Ali and finds out from him that Asli is pregnant. Zerrin says she can't have the baby. She's not taking her pills. Tayyar seems to argue for Asli here, it's her decision, Zerrin. Zerrin says you'll help me secretly abort child for Asli's sake? Tayyar looks surprised and concerned.
Taner sitting and looking at a diamond.
Fatih/Metin: Gives Hatice same instructions that he gave Elif earlier. One rule: NEVER open the briefcase. This caper is a big risk. If you get caught, I won't help you. You might spend decades in prison. If you go to police and confess to get out, you and your family will die! Afraid yet?
Hatice coolly answers, I'm not afraid. Fatih/Metin says: Just like your sister.
Pelin and Arda show Omer and Elif the new footage. No sound so had to lip read. Pelin provides this service. Sibel in cafe. Waiter thinks she is a real estate agent, Mine Ablah (?). Ahmed arrives. Elif, watching, is startled! When? Day before murders. Elif cries. Ahmed angry at Sibel. How dare you call me here! Fake diamonds. Sibel: If I hadn't been hit by that motorcycle, I wouldn't have found out the goods you gave me were fake. Ahmed: What do you want? Money. Ahmed says I'm not the one who pays you money. Sibel says we are going to have to change that, aren't we. Her phone rings, a call from Omer that she answers briefly. Ahmed: You're playing with fire. Be careful, don't burn yourself! Sibel: I can call Fatih/Metin and tell him you're trying to cheat him The diamonds you are sending to Rome are fakes. Ahmed: What do you want?, $500,000 dollars ! Ahmed: Who do you think they'll believe, you're just a courier. Sibel: I think he'll believe me after seeing these (bag of diamonds). Meet me at 11 tomorrow night. Ahmed: I can't, daughter's birthday. Ok, 1:00 AM then. Ahmed glowers, gets up and leaves.
Babachita
Omer and Elif stunned after video. Pelin tells Omer she is very sorry. He suddenly jumps up, screams and bloodies his hand on her wall. Elif gets him to stop. O: I'm the guiltiest one because I believed her. He runs out and Elif follows. She has to drive fast.
Flashback: Omer and Sibel at movies that night (I think). Sibel: Why are romantic movies so sad? I don't know perhaps because real love doesn't exist.
Omer driving fast, Elif still keeping up, but Elif slowed down because nearly in a wreck.
Back at Cafe: Fatih/Metin to Hatice: I hope this will go well for us. You and I have an agreement. You do your business properly and I'll take care of you so that you will not end up like Sibel.
Fatma and Hatice. Fatma howling as usual. What kind of mother am I? I hope I'll burn in hell. I gave up on my own daughter to the Killer with my own hands. Let's tell him we won't do it. Nothing more important than your life. Husband will be ok if can't walk, his mind is ok. (I'm thinking dark thoughts here--she waited to do this speech until obvious that Hatice will go ahead. I hope Fatma does burn in hell.) (Excuse me, I'm know to overreact to TN/dizis at times!) Hatice says I promise I won't see F/M's face again once I get the money for this. Just one time. I'll do it for Sibel and Dad or I'll regret it the rest of my life.
Omer at Sibel's grave. He yells, you lied, you fooled me, etc. He tears up some flowers and digs up some of the dirt. "Who are you?" Very sad scene.
Babachita
Excellent summary Babachita! I knew I was missing some stuff and I missed more than I realized!! I'm so glad I have you to discuss and compare with! I hope Kat is ready to join us!
I had forgotten about the whole conversation about where does the money for the roof come from! I really hope that Husseyn isn't involved in anything shady.
Thanks for clarifying that Tayyar got the info from the chief, I should've guessed that!!! I just couldn't think of any possibilities earlier this morning. I find it disturbing that Zerrin wants to force an abortion on Asli!!! And shocking! I expected her to make pressure Asli into it, try to insist on it maybe, or use her authority as her mother or perhaps to to take some medical proxy to 'make her' do it, but not deceive her into it! What kind of parents do these girls have? We don't really know much about Ahmed, but he was involved in some sort of shady business and mom is willing to do this. It's chilling.
I'll post about 32 in a bit and 33 later this evening.
I guess I was wrong about Elif losing Omer because she’s there at the gravesite watching from afar as Omer yells at Sibel for betraying him. It really was a deeply painful and beautifully acted scene but I couldn’t help but laugh when Omer said ‘You’re dead to me!’ She’s dead to everyone else too, Omer that’s what the grave is for.
Omer stomps back to his car and sees that Elif followed him, there are long intense looks between them but no words are exchanged and Omer drives off again. This time to go get drunk of course! But Elif has followed again! I thought it was a very interesting/refreshing change of pace to have Elif drink with him rather than try to stop him from drinking! Getting drunk doesn’t solve anything, she knows that, he knows that; but sometimes you just need to get drunk when you find out that your fiancée was a diamond smuggler! The scene is sad and sweet and almost flirtatious but ends with Omer too drunk to know what he’s doing of course. Elif takes him to a hotel of course, because you can’t take him home in that state! Heavens be! I mean I can understand that sometimes you just have to get drunk, and you can understand, and all of viewerville can understand, but your mother definitely hasn’t been there and done that or seen that – she definitely won’t understand!!! (Eyes rolling) But you have to take the too drunk guy/girl to be alone in the hotel room so everyone can wonder what will happen and nothing does except Elif does kiss Omer once after he passes out which I think is more creepy than romantic/wistful but whatever…
The next day when sober Omer gets home to tell the family what he’s learned there’s an interesting interaction with Melike where she runs immediately to get Husseyn and tell him that Omer is in bad shape and you can see the genuine concern she has for Omer. She learned how upset he was because she was being nosey and spying on Omer and mom’s conversation but when she realized how serious it was, she ran quickly to get Husseyn to help. But then when she gets the details, she just can’t stop herself from saying ‘I told you so, and see I was right about her.’ And going on and on about how glad she is that Sibel didn’t become a part of their family – upsetting everyone especially Omer. Melike is a fascinating character, she’s clueless and callous but she’s also shown to be more caring in a lot of ways than most characters who act that way are.
Asli continues to crack me up more and more every episode. Even when she’s not supposed to, I think. I’ve decided I just really like this actress! I was giggling at her ‘designing’ session where she was cutting up a bunch of dresses/shirts etc. into squares. Was she thinking to make a quilt or a baby blanket? Taner comes home and can see his wife is manic so he wants her to take her pills but she refuses and says they will hurt the baby! Yep, she could guard that secret so carefully for so long but now it’s spilling out left and right. She makes Taner promise to protect her and the baby; I wonder if he will?
If he does, it will be against Tayyar and Zerrin because Zerrin wants Tayyar to kill the baby – for Asli’s own good of course. Zerrin says that Asli gets suicidal if she’s off her meds too long and that she might end up killing them both, or what if the baby is born sick? Tayyar pretends to be shocked but shows the camera he’s actually thrilled to have something to hold over Zerrin’s head. He ‘reluctantly’ agrees to help.
Taner told Pinar about the diamond. He only found one but it’s enough, they are rich now! They can escape! I know nothing about diamonds but I wouldn’t have thought that one would be enough to make you rich, color me surprised! I’m betting he has a fake diamond. Taner also went to a diamond jeweler, to see if the diamond was real or fake but we didn’t see the outcome in this episode. I even went back to checked to see if I missed it because I was distracted, but no resolution was shown. Meanwhile, Asli was trying to buy baby supplies and at the store but her credit card was declined??? Is this because all of the family funds are frozen/liquidated? Or is someone cutting Asli off? After she can’t buy anything, she tries shoplifting and gets caught.
Bahar and Levent are again trying to get Elif’s attention and Elif is forced into the business outing with Levent but he gets nowhere as always and one glance at the look on Elif’s face when they return to the office and find Omer waiting would be enough to convince anyone with half a brain that they were wasting their time! But of course, Bahar still thinks she can come between Omer and Elif and it was actually HILARIOUS to see Elif ‘take’ Bahar’s advice and turn Omer down when he asked her to go somewhere with him only to regret it 2 mins later and run after him! Girl chased that boy’s car down the street so she could go out with him!!!! So much for playing hard to get!
Tayyer and Zerrin
Tayyer: I can’t murder Asli’s baby. The baby she is carrying has rights.
Zerrin: What about Asli’s life? Wouldn’t it also be murder?
I was almost convinced by Tayyer until I saw the smirk on his face! You spotted that, Darcy!
Cemetery: We that Elif caught up and was watching from the street. They leave together.
Restaurant: Pinar and Taner meet. Taner shows her diamonds.
At a bar or restaurant, Omer has a double vodka and Elif joins him. This goes on for awhile. Omar: I was arrogant, a know-it-all. Life has taught me a lesson.
Elif: Getting angry with yourself won’t work.
Omar: I was so blind, Don’t look at me like that! I didn’t handle myself well at the cemetery. He quotes, “All pain except this one heart,” Elif says it’s from an Italian writer.
Now they are smiling at one another. Elif: I’ll be your punching bag today. More drinks!
Asli curled up in her clothes. Taner, Why won’t you take your drugs? She says, No! Can’t put her in hospital. Won’t take pills or baby will die. Taner is surprised at this news. They snuggle in their room, Asli: I want to be a good mom.
Omer and Elif. His hand is still bloody from hitting Pelin’s wall. O: Let’s go. He can’t walk and leans on Elif. Elif: I get hurt when you get hurt.”
Elif gets a hotel room. Your mother would be upset if you show up like this. Everything will look better in morning. Elif gives Omer her hand and he takes it to get out of car. The gesture of offering a hand comes up often with Omer and Elif. In room, he gets a bottle and Elif suggests that won’t help him feel better in the morning. She tells that her father once said you don’t understand life if you haven’t been cheated on or if you never cheated.” (Seems like a depressing saying, if you ask me! I probably would have used the word betrayal) We’re the ones being cheated O: I trust you, Elif. You are stubborn but have never lied to me. (She knows this isn’t true and has a tortured look.)
AT hotel, Elif says to herself that something pulls me to Omer like a magnet.
After checkout, Omar goes to Pelin’s: Omar and Pelin checked registration of courier (probably Sibel). Someone with the name that they used for Sibel died three years ago. The family agreed to erase registration. They were paid a lot and kept her on the registry. Omer notes Sibel (aka false name) went to Rome too. Pelin says many times. Omer says she said she had never been there. How was I so blind? Pelin: Sibel loved you and I saw how she looked at you. I think she was regretful and looking for a way out. Omer: I’ll never believe that! Get in touch with me if Emre finds anything about Metin’s address. Omer: Tough night. Thank goodness I had Elif with me He apologizes for the wall.
(I notice that those in poverty frequently are used by bad guys like the name for Sibel and being a courier for Fatma’s daughters.)
Asli goes wild at baby store, loading her cart, running around store. Then her card was declined Asli gets angry and takes some toys on her way out. Alarm goes off The cops show up and she ends up at the police station again.
At home, Omer is dressing. Throws and breaks a picture of Sibel. Elvan, What happened? I guess I woke up, Mom. Sibel was lying to me all along. She was doing bad jobs. (Melike is listening, of course.) She was a mule in a dirty business. She was in car taking money from that man. Melike wakes up Husseyn. Omer in a bad way. Omer: She always told me I was a blessing in her life. A cop who couldn’t see the criminal in front of him, that was like a blessing!
Elvan: Don’t do this to yourself. Omer: Yesterday I was sad, today I’m angry! I was in love with a stranger. I thought she was perfect person now my heart is broken. Hugged by Elvan. Husseyn comes to Omer. Melike sees broken picture. It was all a lie. Husseyn says, That’s life, and hugs Omer.
Levant convinces Elif to walk with him at Dener Holding. How is the new Denizer building? Smaller but nice. Will be done in week. Levent: Offices are ready now. Best news is buyer will be ready in two days, so sale money available in two days. Elif thanks him for good news. He says, let’s go celebrate with lunch. She takes a rain check. (Levent is getting nowhere!)
Omer keeps flipping his zippo. Sitting with family on patio. Husseyn: you had no way of knowing. You were mostly in Van (other side of Türkiye from Istanbul) with short visits here. Omer: This is my job. I should have known. Elvan: Don’t try to rebel against your destiny, son. Lies belong to their owners. They live with the lie and go to the other side with that lie on their back. Husseyn: You were far away. I was here and didn’t see anything. Melike interjects: You don’t listen to me because I am a woman. I told you something was off. Husseyn: Is this really the right time for this? He is exasperated with Melike. She says, Yes. Omer is my brother as well. Not only are you angry, but I’m angry as well. More Zippo flipping by Omer. Melike: We have to think from a positive point of view. She died and you’re rid of her. What if you’d married, had kids? What if she drew you into her dirty dealing? (Typical blunt Melike, but she has a point!) Husseyn: Bravo, you messed things up again! Omer: Just STOP!

By the way, comment above #32 1 of 3 was mine as well!
At office. Elif returns with Levent. Thank you. Omer is waiting there. Levent glares. Why are you here? I came to say things. I behaved badly last night. I hope I didn't do anything bad. Elif: You snored a bit! Omer: Let's go eat. She's about to say yes, but remembers Bahar pointing out that she should play hard to get. So, she declines. Omer says OK, we can do it later.
Then she's sorry and mad at Bahar. He invited me out for the first time, and I turned him down! What was I thinking? Elif runs after him and finally catches up to his car. O: Are you crazy? He smiles! Elif: Let's go. Omer: Where? A place we will both enjoy. Omer: Now you're the boss.
Taner with Asli outside of Police Station after getting her released. Just call me or your mother if you have a problem like the credit cards. Stop treating me like a child, replies Asli. Taner and Zerrin agree she'll be calmer now. Zerrin: We are going to Tayyar's hospital. (Uh oh!)
Elif and Omer driving out of town, Omer: You still won't tell me where we are going. Polonezkoy. (I remember the Elif actress was in another dizi set in this area. It's beautiful.) Omer: No one knows where we are. E: World won't stop if we disappear for half a day.
A Omer's house, Elvan giving Melike cold treatment. Melike: Why am I a bad pest when I'm telling the truth? I'm not a blood member of the family. Phone rings, it's Elif. Elvan happy. Elif talks to her, and Melike notes honey melting. Who made you so happy? Elvan just stares. Tell me!
Babachita
Elif and Omer in the country. Elif: Time will stop for us for a little while.
Elvan’s house Melike The inside of the house is cleaned, so now, tell me! Elvan still giving the silent treatment. Melike: I was 19 when I came to this house. I grew up with you. You’re like my mother. Elvan finally sighs, I always see you as a daughter as well. If I become angry with you, it’s because you deserve it. Ask yourself, Why do these people treat me like this? Elif called to tell she’d taken Omer on a day trip and didn’t want me to worry. Melike: What does she mean they will be away for awhile? Elvan: It means what it means. You take care of your own things. Melike, thinking, calls Husseyn with the news. “I don’t know details.” Husseyn says, ok.
At the police station, Husseyn doesn’t think Elif good for Omer, on a rant! Pelin: nothing between them, like Arda and me. Husseyn: I’m going to interview if Ali asks for me and leaves. Pelin to Arda: What does that look mean? Do you know something about Omer? Arda: Owner of jewelry shop called twice about a man with uncertified diamonds.
Hospital: Asli in wheelchair. Zerrin, Taner, and Tayyar. Tayyar: Asli like a daughter to me. Psych and neuro departments will check her over. Zerrin: Don’t leave your wife along, Taner. If she doesn’t take pills, will get worse. Tayyar to Zerring: What does Taner think about this. His child, too. He doesn’t know. NO one will know if we don’t tell anyone. Tayyar watching. Zerrin wakes Asli with a weird look. Tayyar has small smile/smirk.
Elif and Omer. O: Nice place. Walking. Elif: You haven’t seen anything yet. Gives rundown on Poloneskoy. Was founded by Polish immigrants and first called Ademkoy. Farms, guesthouses, etc. Very popular location.
Back at hospital, Doctor came to give Asli meds. Taner: Do we tell Elif and Nilufer? Zerrin: Don’t want to upset them Would argue. Goes in to look at Asli. Tayyar to Taner (who is sleeping with his partner): Don’t be depressed. Will be fine. Zerrin says forgive me to sleeping Asli.
Police arrive. Husseyn: we have questions for Taner. Taner says he already answered at the police station. Tayyar: no need to worry. Come, you can use my office.
Denizer house: Nilufer pacing in garden trying to get Fatir to answer phone. Calls the hospital. I need information about a patient, Fatih. They can’t give it out. Nilufer very nervous.
Taner answering questions in Tayyar’s office. Tayyar leaves and then creeps (of course he creeps) around to eavesdrop. Asking about diamonds and jeweler in Bazaar. Husseyn, do you still have diamond? Yes—Give it to us Taner complies. Why do you have it? Among Asli’s clothes. When? When she came back from the stay at the police station. Arda: We searched the room very carefully and didn’t see it. Pelin Why didn’t you bring it to us? Taner: I was afraid Asli would go crazy again. Didn’t know if genuine. Had to find out Did nothing wrong. Husseyn: OK. Keeps diamond. Now, come straight to us if find anything else. Taner asks they not tell family as they do not know anything. (Probably worried of Tayyar). Husseyn promises to keep it confidential.
Leaving hospital, Arda , Husseyn, and Pelin, now what to do with Taner. Husseyn: He’s definitely hiding something. Can’t take to police station without evidence. Arda to follow Taner.
Babachita
Forgive me for posting in before you post parts 2 and 3 Babachita. I was trying to wait for you to finish posting but it's getting late for me and I'm very tired so I'm going to go ahead and post my brief comments...again forgive me! I'll try to not post in the middle of your posting again.
This summary will be short and sweet – mostly cuz I got distracted again and I’m not sure how much I remember.
This isn’t in the order of the events of the episode just jotting down things as they come to mind.
First the bad… Mom and Tayyar accomplished getting Asli hospitalized way too easily because of her shop lifting which means Tayyar had the opportunity to cause the end of Asli’s pregnancy since it’s his hospital. I’m assuming he did since Zerrin is feeling guilty and refusing to tell Elif and Nilüfer where Asli is or let them come to the hospital. Asli is sedated and hadn’t awoken as of the end of the episode.
Taner is interrogated by our detective team about the found diamond. They had been informed by the jeweler that he tried to bring in a fake (I think) diamond. It was the same jeweler that Omer had previously questioned. Taner tells the gang that he found the diamond in Asli’s drawer!!! I wonder if this is true or if he’s just blaming wifey? We don’t know since we weren’t shown the scene of Taner finding the diamond – unless I’m forgetting/missing something. Arda points out that they searched Asli’s room when she was under questioning and they didn’t find anything, that’s strange. Taner says maybe she moved it after she got home from the station…hmm. Tayyar overheard this whole conversation.
Omer and Elif spent the majority of the episode on their date. It was a little silly but cute and they grew closer… you can tell Omer is seriously thinking about kissing her now but still holding himself back. Those long lingering looks are getting longer and he’s starting to inch forward. This slow burn is getting close to catching flame! But the date only ends with a kiss on the cheek from Elif to Omer.
Omer goes to confront Pinar and ask her if they (they being Pinar and Taner) have the diamonds. Pinar says if they did, they would have been long gone. She and Taner love each other but they need money to run away together! Omer tells her if they really loved each other, they wouldn’t need money!
Nilüfer is tired of no contact from Fatih and not being able to get ahold of him – every time she calls, she gets the person you’ve called is unavailable. She calls the hospital where Fatih was brought after he was fished out of the water and asked for his contact information. The person told her no, but she must have convinced her somehow that I didn’t catch because ended up showing up at Fatih’s house!!! He’s shocked to see her, and she confronts him about ignoring her and says he’s leaving her now that she’s so in love with him. He says he loves her completely and is incapable of leaving her, but she should leave him. He’s not a good man; he has blood on his hands! Nilüfer isn’t willing to leave and she starts kissing him, he can’t resist. Later she finds a DVD with her name on it and slips it in her bag before leaving.
Belen confronts Arda in the hallway about his weird behavior. Their interaction mirrors Omer and Elif in a way that is lost on Belen as she insists to Arda that they are friends and all the unpleasantness from the scene with his wife is behind them, things should be back to normal! Why aren’t they? Belen any offers to be understanding if Arda needs to distance himself from her personally in order to please his wife. They can keep things professional; she will be supportive! LOL Belen might be like Omer in more than one way because she definitely seems blind to the truth in the people she cares about too – she has been shown to be a competent detective in her professional life, but she hasn’t even noticed Arda isn’t even wearing his wedding ring anymore, as he points out to her. I’m getting divorced, he tells her; she left me.
Darcy, Thank you for posting. I started to feel ill this evening (might be something I ate), so I had to stop. I should be able to complete 33 tomorrow and get to 34 and 35. I hope we get more commenters soon. I was thinking that if it’s just us two, we could split the load. Both of us get most of the important stuff. We might miss some of it, but it would be easier. I am really enjoying this, btw.
I’ve taken some more meds and going back to sleep. “See you later!”
Babachita
Good morning Babachita! I hope you are feeling better today! I am off to church this morning so it will be later in the day before I check back in with 34 and 35.
I love the idea of splitting the load! :) I am really enjoying this too!
Elif and Omer tour the lovely place: horses, Olympic pool, places to eat, play backgammon. Omar and Elif tour with a 4-wheeler just waiting for them to enjoy. ( Nice music here, Dondi, do you know the artist and name of song?) They enjoy the closeness and beautiful setting. Skipping stones. Elif: I used to come here as a kid. Omer says he used to jump in the Bosphorus as a kid, sometimes swimming to the other side, which impresses Elif. That was dangerous. Yes. His clothes were wet, but his dad protected him from his mom. His dad had a shop at Grand Bazaar. I'd help on weekends. I would collect old magazines and papers and sell for cash. I would get things with cash, a harmonica, a fishing rod, etc. "Quite the businessman," says Elif, the businesswoman. O: Fate made me a cop. Resting under the moon and stars. I noticed several candles on a table beside them. Perhaps these are citronella or something else that repels mosquitoes. Or, maybe just to be romantic! Omer asks, “Do you believe in fate”. Elif: Sometimes. Omer: You’re strong and believe in yourself. Whatever we do is determined by our own choices. I haven’t been so proud of my choices lately. Elif: What would you change if you could relive? Omer: Awful things in the world: profit; greed, lies. I’d like world to be free of these. Elif: Truth is not so valuable if covered in lies. They stare into each other’s eyes, resting on cushions in this lovely sylvan setting.
Asli at the hospital. Taner and Zerrin with her as she sleeps. Zerrin goes on about her daughter. She was a quiet, clever baby. How could I know her mind was not right? Taner: You couldn’t’ have known, so don’t be upset anymore. Zerrin: The worst is the despair. I couldn’t protect her all the time. I won’t leave her alone and will try to protect her from everything. Doctor comes in and sees Asli still sleeping. I’ll come back later. Taner follows her out. Doctor, please, my wife is pregnant. Must she continue to use these meds? Doctor seemed surprised. I had no idea. We’ll talk again when she wakes up.
Elif and Omer still stargazing. They look at one another. (I’m fascinated with these actors. They make this work. Constant looking into another’s eyes would seem repetitive, but they really have chemistry and make it real.) Omer almost kisses her. It’s late, maybe we should head back. Traffic is over. Omer extends his hand to Elif. This again is a gesture the dizi emphasizes. Elif: I love it here and hope you enjoyed it as well. (There are dogs, so I approve!) Omer wants to pay. She says no need to pay. He is surprised! But we’ve been here all day. Elif explains they are lifetime members. That’s how it works. (I’m thinking…nice!) Omer: That’s different, I don’t get it, but whatever. They joke a little. Elif: You need to get on your horse. Omer: I have your ride, signorina. Elif she has the ride and dangles his keys! Omer: When did you get them? She replied that he left them on the table. He says he will still drive.
Pelin and Arda at Police Station. An officer reports that they had some records from the car park camera at Denizer’s. They were erased. Trying to repair. Pelin is not happy with this development. Has this been done yet, she asks sternly. Farat is doing this but hasn’t reported back. Pelin is getting angry about this. This is taking a long time. Tell him to deal with this and put everything else aside. Arda arrives. Pelin asks Arda for Farat’s number. Arda tells her to call him. Pelin says he is not up with the times. She is not the errand-person. They get in a discussion about his wife. Pelin is unaware they have separated. If you want, we can keep our relationship professional only. Arda holds up his finger. No need! She moved out, we’re divorcing.
Babachita
Elif and Omer back at her house. Linger in car. More deep looks. Both move in for kiss of sorts. Have a good evening, you, too! Wave!
In house, Elif is smiling. Nilufer is there. Elif wonders where Zerrin is. With Asli and Taner at hospital. Why didn’t you tell me! Mom said was nothing serious and would be back by morning. Which hospital? Nilufer didn’t know. Elif grabs phone and starts calling.
At Omer’s. Family on patio. Are you hungry? Omer says he ate with Elif. Husseyn and Melike stare at one another. Melike asks how his day was. He was angry when he left, which made them sad. Omer: I’m alright now. More discussion of cost of the roof. Husseyn finally admits to paying $5000. Omer says he will put in same amount so he doesn’t have anything taken out of his salary next month. Husseyn: Don’t make me angry this time of night. Leave it or I’ll get angry. Forget about the money. (I’m thinking he doesn’t want Omer to find out he isn’t using an advance from his salary.) Husseyn: I’ve got news. We found another diamond. Omer: Where? Tayer. Omer: Don’t’ tell Elif this. Melike brings out food.
At Tayyar’s, Pinar tells guard that she is going out and will be back in two hours. Please tell Tayyar. She dries out of garage and sees Omer there. She rolls eyes. Omer: We need to talk. Pinar: What about? Everyone knows you’re a cop. Omer: Do you have the diamonds? She answers, I don’t understand, why are you asking me this? Omer: We heard Taner had diamonds. Either explain this to me or we can go down to the station. Pinar: If we had diamonds we would have left a long time ago. Omer: So, money is your goal. Pinar: Everything is not about money. We’re in love and need that money to create a new life for ourselves. Omer: Are you sure? I think you need to think this over. A person could do anything for happiness and peace, even in a small house. But you have chosen your love. Love is stronger than money. He leaves.
Babachita
Nilufer trying to get hold of Fatih by phone with no luck. Finds an address and goes there. What are you doing here? (Not happy.) N: I took on my family for you and I’m not able to even call you. Fatih: Ok, let’s go up and we can talk.
Tayyar’s place: They are questioning someone who has been following Taner. We don’t leave him for a second. Tayyar says to take a statement from Taner and see if he told the truth to the police. Do you want Metin to do it? Tayyar, No! Metin has a job to do. You make Taner talk about diamonds. Tayyar pensive and tapping desk after he leaves.
Fatih/Metin’s: Nilufer says you can’t leave me after you made me love you so much. I trusted you Fatih looks down: I’ve don’t things. We cannot do this here, now. Nilufer: You mean you’re going to leave me? You used me and now game is over? Do you think I’ll allow you to leave me? Fatih: What do I look like? A banker or a CEO for Daddy’s company? I’m not the man of your dreams. I’m dishonest. Can’t you see that? My hands are covered in blood. I curse every single thing I touch. You have to understand that the distance between us is the protection of our love. That’s why I can’t keep you. You have to leave me until I can get rid of all the dirt. Do you understand me? She embraces him, they kiss, she holds his hand. I can’t leave you now. Too late for that. Whatever happens, I need to know you love me even if I can’t see you anymore. I love you so much. (When this began, I was really annoyed with Nilufer for begging and at Metin for being callous, but as he went along, I also saw that he has a conscience and is trying to find a way out of an awful situation.) He kisses her and … (Dot dot dot, I think!)
Back at Denizer house: Zerrin: Prepare a bag for Asli and me and hurry. Elif comes down, Why didn’t you call me about Asli? Zerrin: Don’t make a big deal about it. Elif: You’re preparing bags, you’re going to stay. What hospital? Zerrin: Because your sister doesn’t want anyone to know. She says she’s shy. (Really???) Elif says she is coming as well. Zerrin: No, Asli and I will do this. And off she goes. Elif asks Hulya where Nilufer is. Hulya: She left very early. Bodyguard is with her.
Doorbell at Fatma’s. Hatice receives her packet of passport Call from Metin: You’ve got passport, now await my instructions
Nilufer looks around Fatih’s place and sees DVD with her name on it. She put it in her purse. She asks him who he is talking to (probably Hatice) Don’t ask, less you know the better. You promise you won’t leave me know Stay with me now. I’m here with bodyguard! WHAT!!!
She says I’m not stupid, I left him on the other street.

Darcy, if it’s ok with you I’m going to go ahead and do summary for 34? So, might you do 35? I’ll get it up in next three hours or so.
Thank you!

Ah, Polonezköy…
(Nice music here, Dondi, do you know the artist and name of song?) Yes! This is Tülay Özer - Büklüm Büklüm. Great song. YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUCotc_Ogxo&list=RDSUCotc_Ogxo&start_radio=1
Episode 36 is next weekend? It’s a great one. I might want to recap that one. Can I let you know before Friday?
Time to get my sea legs back under me after not watching for a few weeks while Darcy caught up. I've forgotten the minor characters names!
I'll continue commenting but not sure if I'll recap. My skills are much weaker and when I read your recaps I see all the errors I create in my mind when I watch the show! I started 33 last night but got tired. I've been trying to catch up on weeding my flower beds, and helping a friend do theirs as they are putting their property on the market. Spending hours in the heat makes me tired.
All I can say about this show so far is Omer is going to be so hurt and disillusioned when he discovers Elif's money laundering.
I guess I saw most of 33 as I read the recap one thing I have a question about. How was the roof repair paid? Did Husseyn have savings? Did I miss something?
Kat, I think 34 is going to answer your question so I will wait for Babachita's recap. You haven't missed anything. It's not clear yet.
Sorry this is so late These have been very full episodes!
At the house, Elif answers door and tells Bahar let’s go to garden. They sit and she talks about Omer. He is more himself. Had a wonderful day. Polonezkoy and our club. Bahar: He wouldn’t get into those clubs if not for you unless a murder or something. Elif: Did I do the wrong thing? I was just trying to help him relax and feel better. I hope it didn’t make him feel worse. Bahar: Look, He’s a strange person, may have complexes you don’t know about yet. Elif: I hadn’t thought about that. Do you think I offended him? Bahar: It’s ok if you did. Why do you worry? Let’s go meet the architects and take care of this business. Elif: I can’t go, you can handle it. Tell them what we want in our new office. I need to go to Omer now. Thank you, great friend (NOT!)
At police station, Arda and Omer talking. Omer: I want to help out. We need to close the case now, OK? We seem to be going round in circles! The key name is Metin. Sibel also knew him. Arda: What happened yesterday? You’re smiling and didn’t come to work and met with Elif. Elif arrives at police station and sees Pelin. She says to go on in, Arda and Omer are talking. She gets there and listens as they are talking about her. Omer tells about Polonezkoy and the club. She beat me at backgammon four times, very lucky. Arda says you have strong feelings for her. Omer: What are you getting at? Nothing on my mind except Sibel. Seriously I look at Elif as a friend. Arda: There’s a difference. Are you in love? Omer: I don’t know. I mean, I feel happy when I see her. I think of her when she’s not near me. It’s a strange thing, her name is always on my mind. I worry about what she does. I feel warm when she smiles. And my heart breaks when she’s sad. Does that sound like love? (Pretty good description, I’d say.) Arda: this is called the deep love of another person, quoting Eric Fromm, you really feel for this girl. You are really in love. You don’t want to cheat on Sibel’s memory, but there was something between you two from the first day. This is destiny. It happened because you were destined to meet.
Omer: Maybe (and smiles). Elif leaves before they see her. She asks Pelin not to let on that she was there.

Husseyn wants to withdraw $1000 lira. Can we show it as $5,000 lira on paperwork? No that is fraud. Husseyn tells a tale that his brother is a cop and in debt, and he doesn’t want him to know. Bank officer says no way can they share how much he withdraws with his brother. Husseyn beams and withdraws $1000 from retirement fund.
On street in front of police station, Elif on the phone telling Bahar what she heard. Bahar: Why are you so excited? He hasn’t told you, he’s only told it to his friends. Let’s say feeling is real, what guarantee is there that it is part of a relationship? (What a downer!) Elif agrees. But he’s always said friends before, now he’s thinking of me all the time. Bahar: Listen to me, We aren’t 18 year old girls anymore. This is real life. Leave your dreams. Elif: When I was 18, I was waiting for someone to love me. I thought no one would ever love me and I felt worthless. Now it’s different. I’m grown up and I know someone can love me. Bahar: Elif!!! I can’t believe it. Levent comes in. Bahar: Enough. Please hurry or we’ll lose our only chance of ridding ourselves of all this mess. Levent: OK, calm down, here they come. They welcome architects etc to meeting room.
Police Station
Elif goes back into station. Arda: Oh Elif! Elif: Am I not disturbing you? Arda: No, we’re just chilling. Pelin: We have to go for a case, sorry! Leaves Elif with Omer. Elif: How are you doing? I just stopped by to see if ok. Omer: Well, I’m ok then. She smiles. Is there something you want to tell me? Omer: You’re starting to talk in riddles, signorina. More smiles. Elif, OK, then I’ll leave now. Off to the office. Omer: haven’t forgotten our backgammon bet. I owe you a meal. Omer says he pays his debts. They go back and forth as to who should choose place. Omer finally suggests one of restaurants across from the supermarket at Kuresi (sp?). Let’s go there at 8. She agrees.
Back at Denizer Holding, meeting over, lots of handshaking. Bahar tells Levent Elif is really in love with that policeman and he loves her Levent asks if this is a joke. What do I do now? Bahar says she will need to keep them apart. Frowny faces.

Police station
Omer asked if anything yet from gardeners? No. Omer: We don’t have records. The person who would know who came out that night of the murder is the gardener. Bravo, sarcastically.
Husseyn: We’ll check files again. Omer: For what, File is incomplete. Ahmed went to firm that night we learned this later. We would have known about Asli if I hadn’t gone to question to houseguard. Questioning wasn’t done properly. For example, This friend of Elif’s, Bahar, she’s very close to the family, one of the most important people in the firm, but we don’t have a statement from her. Arda interjects: I told Chief Ali, he told us there was no need to do so. Husseyn: Have we even said that the file is complete? OK, let’s get that taken care of. I didn’t have permission, but now the file is with me and I can do what I want, so let’s have a look at everything. Omer: It’s Ali! Can we trust him? Husseyn: Rolls his eyes, of course you can trust him I guarantee that. He’s a bit perverse, but not for sale. I’ve worked with him for years and would have noticed if up to something. Omer: That’s good if you say so. Husseyn: I’m leaving back in an hour!
Metin (Fatih) is driving and pulls up beside Chief Ali on a bridge. Ali: you asked for reports, here they are. Metin discusses the coming operation at the airport. Courier is a novice so things could go wrong. Ali says they will take care of it. If you protect me, Fatih, I’ll protect you.
Denizer house: Elif arrives. We’ll eat out. Nilufer somewhat sarcastically says I guess it was a tiring day. Elif Smiles, yes it was. Taner comes. Elif asks what he doing there. Reading my newspaper. Why not at hospital with Asli? My lovely mother-in-law fired me. What if she needs something? Taner replies they will call Elif. She wished he hadn’t left them alone. Taner says don’t you think I tried? I offered to wait in coffee shop, but no. Nilufer: So everything is fine, you read papers, you go out and have fun. Don’t argue about anything and stomps off.

I have three more to publish, but it won’t let me. (I ended up with six, not eight). 34. 1,2,& 3 did fine. I can’t insert the other three. I know this holds you all up!
This note is partially to test it from my phone. The others were from my computer.

At Tayyar’s hospital, Tayyar with a stretcher in hall, meets Zerrin. They discuss the evil plan. Everything is ready for the “operation,” but we are taking the baby out. Zerrin thanks him, I’ll owe you forever. Tayar says he also has a child. If our children hurt, we feel the pain for them. That’s why you don’t owe me anything at all. Stretcher goes out. Asli asks what is happening. They reassure her. Zerrin: I’m here your mother will always be with you. Asli’s eyes slowly close.
Police station: Omer looking for ties for his fancy dinner. In walks Bahar with lots of poison for him about Class Solidarity, the poor need to hang together against the rich. She goes on and on with examples. Elif never had to struggle. Father got her everything. She gets what she wants and sees you as something she can get. He says that doesn’t sound like Elif. Bahar: Although Elif and I are friends, we will never be equal. They remind us often where you came from. They’re the boss you are the worker. The cost for your dinner will probably be your salary, but Elif will fix for you. Omer says he is going to place he can afford Tells her to leave and hopes he won’t see her again. Bahar leaves. She has gotten him to thinking.
Nilufer sits down, ready to enjoy her video that she took from Fatih’s. Uh oh! He recorded their intimate lovemaking. She shouts in a baby voice No! Why! She is crushed.
Taner is waiting for Pinar, but some of Tayyar’s goons get to him and start beating him up to find where the diamonds are. Pinar arrives and stays in car, watching in horror. She finally comes up with a plan, gets out, and walks over to them telling them to stop. She says he is a member of our family. You can’t do this to him. I’ll call police if you don’t stop. What kind of monsters are you? She helps “Mr. Taner” to the car. Goons are worried that Tayyar will kill them. But what else could they do. They decide to try again later.

At the exclusive restaurant that they even have trouble locating, Omer is reluctant to going in, infected by Bahar’s venom. He finally does, and is challenged by the Matre’d until he realizes that Miss Elif has ok’d his entry. This is the final straw, and Omer leaves. Elif is inside waiting.
He gets in car with Arda, furious, and they go out to eat/drink. He goes on and on. Arda says don’t be so sensitive. Omer says: She told me no one would believe we were lovers until we know each other. Look at me and then at her. Would I have a chance to meet her if we hadn’t met each other this way? We would have sat in opposite cars in traffic. Couldn’t have gone to same schools or have fun at same places. I couldn’t get treated at the same hospitals as Elif. Sometimes there are invisible borders in life that are drawn by life, not ourselves. On one side is Elif and on the other is me. No point in trying to cross boundary. I wish I’d never started! Arda drives. (Music here: Dondi?) Elif waits a long time.
Omer flipping his zippo again. At outside restaurant with Arda. Still goes on and on. Arda becomes the antivenin (antiBahar) arguing for the relationship with Elif. You love Elif, she loves you. Don’t’ be stuck in the old days Don’t you know a good thing when you see it? When Pelin smiles at me, I feel like I’m walking on clouds for the next two days. Eif was brave. She said I love you. My mother always said that if you don’t take opportunities, then you’ll lose out anyway. Take my advice or don’t take it, your choice. Omer fidgeting.
Police station: More evidence from parking garage that was lost and now recovered. It shows Zerrin returning at 1:20 AM, followed by Taner, then followed by Nilufer. Pelin summarizes: Everyone lied. No one home except Elif that night. Husseyn, that makes them all suspects except Elif.

Elif calls Omer (still at the seaside restaurant). He answers. Omer, are you stuck in traffic? She tells him she is getting hungry. Every second you’re late is going to cost you. Omer: Elif, it’s better if I don’t come. Talk to you later. He goes back to drinking. Elif calls Bahar. pays the bill and leaves the fancy restaurant.
Pinar takes Taner to hospital. I told you Taner kills Taner, let’s go now OK I’ll call my mom. Pinar tells mom to leave house and not answer if Tayyar calls or shows up.
At hospital Asli coming out of OR. Zerrin and Tayyar: All is well, baby is gone now.
Bahar meets with Elif. Guy you have in your head is not reality. Elif sees herself as a failure in her whole life. I can’t forget Omer. Bahar rolls her eyes.
Arda and Omer get in car with Husseyn and Pelin. Where’s we going? Husseyn says they smell like liquor so much his car might catch fire. Omer holding his head in back seat. Open the window, says Husseyn. Where are we going in such a rush? To Elif’s house. That got Omer’s attention. Husseyn explains about the recovered records. No one was home that night except Elif. Omer: Why are you telling me this now, Pelin? I stopped her from calling you earlier because we first had to talk to the chief and follow protocol. (This was hard for me to understand.) Husseyn says we have to follow procedure, but I can already tell Taner is dirty. I can just feel it.

Well, I finally got all of #34 in here. I looked back, and you must all think I'm nuts. First I I put 7 parts, then 8 parts, and ended up with 6! In my defense, I haven't been feeling well this weekend. But, mostly, I'm not very tech savvy. I promise to be more orderly next weekend.
Kat, I think the roof repair was done in a sneaky way. It looks like it cost $5000, but Husseyn only took $1000 from his pension. He was assured that Omer would never be able to tell the amount if he asked about it. So, where did the rest of it come from? I'm sure all will become clear in the future. It seems a little fishy to me! But, Omer will probably think Husseyn took $5000 from his pension.
Dondi, just let us know sometime this week f you want to do #36.
Thanks for all your patience!
Babachita
Thank you Babachita! There was a lot going on in this episode.
Bahar is the worst!!! Or maybe that is Zerrin? Or is it Fatma? No, it's probably Zerrin but Bahar still sucks!
I'm not happy with Omer right now either though. He lost major points in standing Elif up. Feel the way you feel and then show up to dinner and deal with it - not a fan of the leaving her waiting at the restaurant alone move. Yes, the whole telling the staff to let him in to the exclusive restaurant thing was a awkward but Omer insisted on the restaurant too, he wanted to take her some place expensive since she took him someplace expensive. She tried to tell him earlier that morning that it wasn't necesary.
Omer should've listened to Arda, who cares if you wouldn't have met any other way if you hadn't have met? You did meet!!! The whole world is full of couples that wouldn't have met each other if they hadn't have met each other, welcome to having something in common with everyone. Life happens and it brings people together in unexpected ways.
I forgot what was on that DVD, I wonder if that means that all those other DVDs in that drawer were other women that Fatih has been with? I also wonder if this is enough to make Nilufer leave him? It once again struck me how isolated she is from her 'loving' family as you see everyone hopping in and out of that house and not staying for any length of time. Taner is home from the hospital and no one knows it but he just pops in to read the paper and Elif after being gone all day is just there for a bit tell she can leave again to go out to dinner, and Nilufer is like you read the paper and you go out and enjoy your life, just don't fight! She's so detached.
I just can't with Asli's forced abortion, I'm so horrified by this.... I don't have the words for it. I can't even imagine how a mother can do something like that and expect to look her daughter in the eye again. I wonder a few days ago if Taner would protect Asli and his baby, now we know the answer. Not surprised. We also learned that Pinar will pause and wait and think about it for a long while before protecting Taner!!! LOL I don't feel bad for him!
About Husseyn lying about the house funds. There's obviously something going on, but I think it's part red herring. There are too many bad guys in this, I don't think Husseyn is shady too. I think they are just trying to make us suspect he might be. He's lying to Omer for some reason but I'm guessing when we find out why it won't have anything to do with being dirty.
Off to work on 35. It will probably be a couple hours before I get it up.
Wow babachita, you are a trooper. Hope you feel better soon.
I missed that omer chose the restaurant. I thought the maitre de refused him entrance on Elif's word, and wondered who got to him to set that up as she was obviously waiting for him. My explanation would have made him less the bad guy. See, this is why I won't be very good at recapping, lol.
Darcy, the worst still character goes to Tayyer. He went ahead with permitting the abortion. I don't think she was very far along, but I bet if there is a market for aborted babies he'll use hers.
I'm wondering if Hussein has friends that are roofers and he just needed to pay for the supplies. Maybe he wants the family to look on him as being more generous than he really is. Sounds like he's been living in the house all along so paying the upkeep goes with the territory. Omer was away for a few years at least, right?
Hi Kat! I suspect that Omer probably had no idea how exclusive those restaurants across from the supermarket were, just knew that they were fancy. I fault Bahar for the poison she gave both Elif and Omer. Elif knew it was uber-exclusive and did her best to make it work. But the Maitre d’ had a jerky manner, and Omer was primed to react! I think it was probably a blessing that they didn’t get to the bill, which would have been a shock and would result in another round of this conflict. Bahar is so hateful but also very effective!

The devil, um I mean Tayyar finds out that Taner was saved by Pinar…. he orders his goons to find her NOW!!! Pinar is headed to the hospital but he doesn’t want to go, she insists.
Omer and Husseyn end up at the Denzin’s but Omer is afraid to go in so he waits outside, across the street! Which doesn’t help him avoid Elif who arrives by taxi. They stare longingly across traffic at each other but neither cross. Husseyn comes out and breaks the spell. She asks why they are there and he lets her know that they are there to see Taner and he needs to come to the station for questioning in the morning, nothing serious just routine. Elif is momentarily hopeful that Omer was working with his brother this night but Husseyn shoots down that hope, he was working with Pelin. He just picked up Omer a little bit ago. Elif says goodnight quickly and Omer stalks over wanting to know what Elif said. It’s obvious something’s wrong between these two but no one is admitting it and the boys drive off as Husseyn wants to go get something to eat. Elif made it all the way up to the balcony in 1.3 seconds and watches them drive off sadly.
Next morning, Omer looks like someone killed his dog while Melike yells at her son for losing a math book and mom is begging Husseyn to talk to his brother since he’s upset about something. They don’t get far though because Arda shows up in time for pastries and with news. Taner never came home or went to work. He didn’t go to the hospital to see Asli either, he must be trying to escape! Husseyn is excited because he thinks they have their man but Omer has his doubts since Taner was with Pinar that night.
We see all Elif’s outfit from the night before piled by the bed as she lies wide awake way before her nine am alarm goes off. (And I’m just jealous that she gets to sleep that late. I’ve been at work for hours before nine am rolls around) But Miss Elif is looking depressed and heartbroken and she picks up a drawing of Omer and crumbles it dissolving into tears. Her phone rings and she’s hopeful for a moment but it’s Fatih and no one needs that! He’s rude as always to Elif and reminds her that she’s under his thumb and it has nothing to do with money.
The boys find out Taner is at the hospital and they are after him! But in this case, it’s very lucky for Taner because Tayyar’s men arrived first! Taner and Pinar were trying to figure out how to disappear when Tayyar’s thugs arrived and caught them. And they both would have been DOA if our crack detectives hadn’t arrived to take Taner in for questioning! Omer even did Pinar the favor of making her come in to give her declaration as well! Get out of death free card – at least for the moment. Taner blames his punched-up face on some random gang thugs.
Elif arrives at the police station and directs all her questions to Pelin! LOL Omer tries to just talk to Elif like normal but she stonewalls him and Arda quickly pulls him into interrogation.
Omer goes to question Taner with Arda while Pelin and Husseyn question Pinar. Taner tells the same story about being with Pinar in a hotel but Pinar claims to have been at the beach.
Elif accuses Omer of being obsessed with her family and he says they are just investigating. Elif says there are no murderers in her family! Every time she starts to feel some peace he goes and arrests another member of her family. Omer says no one is under arrest, they are just asking questions. It’s procedure. Omer actually says he doesn’t understand why she is so upset with him!!!! (LOL) Is it because I stood you up? (Do you think?) Elif stares and says nothing. Bahar and Levent arrive and Omer says I’ll leave you alone with your close friends!
Husseyn thinks the fact that the stories don’t match means Taner is guilty but I think Pinar is lying is the obvious conclusion. They go back to Taner. They are going to search his car and office. Taner is frustrated, he did nothing! But Husseyn says if he didn’t do anything he has nothing to worry about. Husseyn walks out and Taner swears to Omer he didn’t kill Ahmed. Omer says what about Sibel. Taner says he never saw Sibel in his life. He doesn’t even recognize her picture, I didn’t kill her, I swear to God! Okay, says Omer. Wait here then. Taner agrees.
More of Elif and Omer at crosshairs. Elif is very aggressive with Omer threatening to go to the press and even file a harassment complaint against Omer for bugging her family. They stare each other down. Let’s go Elif, Levent says, there’s nothing to do here. Bahar agrees and tells Omer to keep her informed if anything changes. She called Omer, officer and Arda who is standing there corrects her and says Omer is a captain. They walk away and Omer says I don’t like him at all. Arda doesn’t like Bahar either but Omer clarifies that he meant Levent and Arda is like, oh you don’t like that handsome man who’s hanging out with Elif? He warns Omer that he doesn’t have any hold on Elif now, but Omer doesn’t want to hear it.
Omer walks back in and sees Pinar hasn’t left. She’s free to leave but obviously isn’t in a hurry. Omer questions if she’s alright but she doesn’t open up. He looks like he suspects what we all know but she says she doesn’t need help. She should have taken the offer though because her brief escape from Tayyar comes to an end the moment she leaves the station – and judging from the way she looks in all directions the moment she walks outside she knew it would. Tayyar’s mood is obvious and Pinar is all but forced into a van.
Fatih meets with Sibel Jr (sorry can’t remember her name) and gives her tips on her new smuggling role.
Eck, Zerrin and Asli in the hospital room, I still can’t with this storyline. I need Asli out of the bed and able to fight back, it’s too cringy.
Back to the company and the cops are there to search the car. Elif goes to protest and it’s more of the awkwardness of Elif trying to talk to Pelin while Omer tries to talk to Elif. Elif thinks it’s pointless to search the car but in the end, she agrees to it and walks off, Omer can’t take it and stalks off after her. Pelin looks to Arda and says it looks like they are fighting again, they never change. Arda says well the greatest loves begin with fights. Which he thinks is funny for a second and then it makes him uncomfortable… it seems to make Pelin uncomfortable too which might be a good sign for our little Arda!
Omer is still trying to charm his way out of it the dog house for standing Elif up, but Elif doesn’t allow it (good for her!). He even tries the whole ‘we are friends’ line again…. smh. Elif puts him in his place and tells him to stop lying to himself, they aren’t friends. Arda walks up as Elif stalks off and says wow, it’s that bad. Omer says not to make jokes because he’s not in the mood. Arda tells him to face the facts. He knew when he stood her up last night what he was doing, now he has to live with the consequences. Elif told him how she felt and she’s run out of patience. If Omer doesn’t want to be with her then he needs to let her go. Omer says it isn’t about what he wants it’s about what is possible. It’s not possible, they CAN’T be together. Arda says it’s not good to lie to yourself. This is about fear. You’re afraid to start a relationship after what happened with Sibel, but Elif is innocent and you can’t do this to her. If you’re not going to be with her, you have to let her go.
Elif storms into her office and slams stuff into a box, Bahar witnesses this and thinks it’s the perfect time to go get Levent. Have I told you how happy I am to not have a BFF like Bahar?
Tayyar has Pinar off in a boat in the middle of the ocean with a gun and he wants to know if she slept with Taner. He’s playing Russian Roulette with her knees, I don’t think this is going to end well.
Omer is driving Arda crazy with his lighter and Arda is still trying to convince Omer to do the right thing. He offers him one last bit of advice and says he won’t say anything else after this. His advice is from Tolstoy ‘Life never gives you back lost time!’ Belen comes back with the warrant to search the house but Omer is starring off in the direction of Elif’s office. Stupid Levent beats him there and is inviting Elif to go watch a movie – she rejects him as always until Omer shows up and wants to talk and all of the sudden, she can’t because she was about to leave. She’s going to the movies with Levent!
Asli is awake now at least and she’s trying to take the nurse into her confidence because she thinks she’s still pregnant and she needs to find out what medicine she’s taking and why she’s bleeding. She wants it kept from her mom because she doesn’t know she’s pregnant…. this is too sad.
Stalker Omer followed them to the movies!!!! I think it’s creepy but Elif sees him and it makes her smile. I guess if you were in her position and you were in love you would feel validated but it’s very unfair. She gets extra flirty since she knows she has an audience which is unfair to Levent but who cares about Levent.
Thanks Darcy. Your recap really helps. You tube CC's aren't as good as Telemundo or Univision. Words are left out, names aren't capitalized as it thinks they are not proper nouns, etc.
I didn't realize that Asli told the nurse she was bleeding. She's been so sedated and drugged I didn't think she was aware of much. I would assume the nurse knows she had a D&C as part of the treatment plan. I'm pretty sure they know she is bipolar. I guess she is humoring her.
Omer definitely messed up with Elif. Did you notice everyone in the building was packing up their offices, but not Levent. I really don't get why Bahar keeps pushing that relationship. Does she think that Elif will somehow lead them to the diamonds? Levent seemed to give Bahar a dirty look in one scene. Maybe he is falling out of love with her.
Kat, the nurse probably knows, but it is Tayyar's hospital so it's possible he did something shady and only limited number of the staff are aware and it's not in the chart anywhere. Nothing about the interaction gave it away to me whether the nurse was aware or not but then I was cringing so I might have missed it.
Yep, Bahar thinks Elif will lead them to the diamonds and yes again, I think Levent is getting tired of Bahar. Either that, or his ego is just getting bruised. He doesn't strike me as the type to just shrug off rejection - you'd have to not take it personally in order to do a job like what he's trying to do, and he doesn't seem detached/disinterested enough. Or smart enough. He seemed genuinely shocked and dismayed when Bahar told him that Elif was in love with Omer and Omer loved Elif too. Anyone who had been in the same room with those two knew that and Levent has been in the same room as them many many times, he reacted as if Bahar told him the sky was purple when he should have reacted as if she'd told him water was made up of hydrogen and oxygen. It's been obvious since day 1 that he had no chance of succeeding with Elif but he seems to think he really did, it's very weird.
