It felt like a lot was cut from this episode. Cem (Cam?) steals the diamond bracelet and after Bahar is unfairly accused she is reassured that the cleaning staff found it. But then later she knows it was Cem. How did she know that? And there were scenes that just felt choppy. The whole thing felt rushed.
How come Bahar gets to see her daughter only 2 hours a week? She’s not accused of being abusive. Does sole custody mean limited visitation?
We’ll find out tomorrow who gets to be head honcho. It reminded me of the competition shows where they say And the winner is, and then the music plays and everybody has to wait and wait seems like forever to hear who it is.
Mentiras entre Rascaclelos…Lies Amidst the Skyscrapers (great title)
Part 1 of 3
We again see what Tania did for Alberto. But first let me interject how much more attractive Yon is with loose, curly hair rather than the slicked back go getter look.
Elena shows her claws. Right after Valeria learns that Valentín did not survive, his mother begins snarling at Val in front of the others in the hospital waiting room. She says he died only a week after he made Valeria his sole heir. Elena also accuses Enrique of being part of the plan.
Emilio walks into Blanca’s apartment and finds Esteban there wearing an apron and with a glass of wine in his hand. Esteban isn’t happy Emilio has keys. The con artist says Blanca asked him to live with her, making it sound more than a gesture of kindness. He keeps insisting on Emilio coughing up the keys, and he does so on his way out.
Valeria is a wreck at the hospital. Gloria tries to comfort her.
Rick tells Sofi he’s going to refuse the scholarship to study in London. He says she means everything to him. Plus, he’s already realized his dreams, being in NY, working with Raúl. Sofi insists she won’t let him lose this opportunity because of her and stalks out.
Enrique is a mess. He’s ready to start drinking when Cris tells him to pull up his big boy pants. She sends him off to bed with a pill bottle, insisting he take only one. Guess she has a connection to get them in bulk.
Blanca and Esteban are enjoying some poetry by The Bard. He reads a few lines aloud and moves in for a kiss. Blanca tells him it’s true she still has feelings for him, but he’s done a lot of damage to her. He’s in the friend zone now.
Jacinto has come home buzzed and is his usual charming self with Tania. She manages to convince him that “Gabriel” is asleep in the bedroom.
Alberto is at the Miami Airport waiting for his flight, and he calls Celeste Jones to say he’s on his way to NYC and would like to meet with her. Yep, no Real ID’s or passports are needed on Telenovela Express Airlines.
Ana has a meeting with Sara Sahgún and Carlos. Sara hopes she doesn’t harbor resentments (for jumping Al’s bones 3 years ago). Ana looks like maybe she still does. Carlos explains that Sara wants to invest. She offers to buy the factory in Oaxaca, keeping the same relationship with the workers there. Carlos says they’ll be three equal partners. Ana is given a folder with the proposed business deal to sign. She wants time to review it.
Part 2 of 3
At the velorio (viewing) for Valentín, Elena tells the distraught Valeria that she’s going to contest Valentín’s will. She adds that she believes Valeria was behind what happened to her son. Gloria manages to defend her daughter. Elena says that neither of them are to come to the funeral.
Blanca tells Emilio her tumor was benign. He’s come to ask why Esteban is living in her apartment. After she explains the friend zone, she senses there’s something else. So, he breaks the news about Pepita getting her job. She’s demoted to just being one of the seamstresses.
Alberto meets with Celeste In New York. She shows him a picture of the real Gabriel on her phone. He’d been in Turkey for work in Adana. Something about the word Adana seems to register with Alberto. She explains how she searched and eventually learned that Gabriel Jones had been evacuated and eventually ended up in Miami. That’s why she showed up at his house in the Keys, looking for her husband. “Maybe it was you they brought from Adana.”
He explains to Celeste that he lost his memory from the accident, and he doesn’t know if he had been in Turkey or in some other place. He tells her Barbie’s fiction about a car accident in Los Angeles and being brought to the Keys to recover. Celeste says that’s not possible. She saw hospital records that he’d been in a hospital in Miami for days. Gabriel Jones was evacuated to Istanbul and then flown to Miami on Cloud Airlines. She offers to help him search for the truth in New York.
Eyes bugging out maniacally Cris finds out Al has flown the coop. She orders Jacinto to find him. She tells Jacinto there’s another call coming in, interrupting her harangue. It’s “Gabriel” calling “Fiorella”. Her eyes almost leave their sockets when he tells her he’s in New York City. She tries to say she’s in Los Angeles and will catch the next flight, and he tells her she’s lying. Then she asks who he’s with, head tilted, eyes narrowing. He says that he took some money to come to New York. He thinks the answers are here. He isn’t buying her manipulations, but he tells her he’ll meet her at the Ortegui Shipping Company at 5PM!
Enrique and Valeria meet in some storeroom. He’s still trying. She tells him that Valentín gave her unconditional love, called her his goddess. She really looks completely devastated. The doctor calls about her blood tests taken at the hospital. She’s pregnant and doesn’t know who the father is.
Cris meets with Gloria, one of her two partners in crime in keeping Alberto prisoner for 3 years. Cris tells her that “Gabriel” (she corrects Glo when she calls the man Alberto!) had gotten restless, was refusing his meds and no longer believes what she tells him. The two rag on the people they put in charge of the kidnapped man. Cris begs her not to tell Carlos; he’ll just complicate things.
The years of her brain marinating in alcohol don’t appear to have done much damage. Gloria always has a plan. She calls Alessandro, saying she needs some documents.
Jacinto is attacking Tania about helping Alberto get away. Marina interrupts the physical attack but rips into Tania verbally for upsetting their crooked apple cart.
Part 3 of 3
Gloria, despite what she said to Cris, goes straight to Carlos to tell him Alberto is in New York. He comes…this close…to punching her. Lots of crazy eyes.
Alberto is bidding a fond farewell to Celeste when, wow, we see Mateo rounding the corner talking on his phone. He sees Alberto and swears to himself that it was his friend. Unfortunately, the writers aren’t done torturing us because Alberto jumps right into a cab that doesn’t even get stuck in traffic.
Turns out Mateo was on his way to meet with Ana to review the business plan Sara gave her. As is sometimes said in TNs, Mateo gives it to her sin anestesia. Alberto is alive! He just saw him three blocks away.
Pilar has shown up at Velvet. Emilio looks like he’s seen a roach. She gives him that shark smile, telling him he’ll be the first to go. She says he reminds her of the gargoyles in medieval cathedrals. Smirking, she tells him that now Pima and Velvet are the same company.
Cris rushes into the lobby of Ortegui Shipping. Alberto tells her he doesn’t exactly remember who he is, but he knows the streets of New York like the back of his hand. He pulls out the piece of paper he took from her suitcase with the address where they’re standing. “I’m tired of the lies. Who am I?”
Mateo insists that it wasn’t only his looks, it was also the way he moves. You know these things about a lifelong friend. Mateo remarks that Ana is moving on and she insists it’s necessary. He says that he can’t move on. The woman he loves is with someone else. Just then Carlos pops up without an invitation. Grinning and looking goofy, he says he wants to be everything to Ana. Mateo gives Ana a big side eye.
Valeria is sobbing, wondering why she’s pregnant now when Valentín SO wanted a child. Enrique tells her that he loves her and doesn’t care whose child she’s expecting. They’ll be a family. [Hope Val remembers he forgot his daughter’s birthday.] She tells him she feels horrible and wants to be alone.
Cris and Alberto are in a restaurant. She hands him a folder saying that it contains all the answers to his questions about the accident. “It’s true we lived in New York. We loved each other since childhood.” [!!] She goes on telling her fantasies as if they’d happened. "Some guy was driving too fast. He died but his girlfriend survived. Her family tried to blame the accident on you." She’s brought some paperwork, including some AI newspaper clipping. [You gotta hand it to Alessandro. That was pretty good work.]
Blanca and Esteban are talking. She says she plans to help Jenni buy a house in Miami. Esteban says a house there would be costly. Ay, Blanca! She tells the serial embezzler she’d been careful with her savings and shows him her bank statement.
Alberto tells Cris he met with Celeste today. He saw a document indicating that he’d arrived from Turkey. He didn’t arrive from Los Angeles. “What was I doing in Turkey? I didn’t have a car accident. They pulled me out of the escombros (rubble) in Adana.” Cris: “You believe a perfect stranger more than your wife?” “She doesn’t have any reason to lie to me.” Cris gets frantic, saying Celeste is a scammer, trying to get money from them. He again says Celeste doesn’t have any reason to lie to him. “And I do?” “You haven’t stopped lying to me since I regained consciousness. Then show me! Take me to the place we lived where I could meet with the people I knew!”
I was glad to see the folder Alessandro put together didn’t get Alberto’s eye off the ball. As he said a bit earlier in this episode, he’s no tonto.
Novelera
I prefer Al's tousled hair too.
I'm hoping it's Valentin's baby. I'm also hoping the accident scene discovers the bullet in the tree and signs of the tussle that ensued. I agree it was an accident but I also want Enrique to suffer. I can't believe Val was banned from the funeral.
I liked the not stuck in traffic comment. Made me laugh in agreement.
OT
I'm still hopeful someone steps up for next Wed for me. I think it's the grand finale. Not sure how much pain I'll be in after my dental procedures that morning....who likes to do 2 hour grand finales?
Novelerea, many thanks for yet another splendid recap, written as always
with clarity, grace, and humor. And even some useful Spanish vocab.
Add me to the list of fans for Alberto's loose, curly hair (yes, it's
"Gabriel" who has the new look, but with less than a week to go, I
decided to push things along by calling him Alberto).
Your recap is filled with delightful phrases--Elena "show[ing] her claws,"
Cris telling Enrique to "pull up his big boy pants," and the NY taxicab
"that doesn't even get stuck in traffic," to note three of my favorites.
I was surprised that Cris handed Enrique a bottle of pills. Given his
distraught state, I'd worry (or, to be honest, hope) that he'd take them
all.
Not only doesn't Alberto (OK, here I guess I need to say "Gabriel") have a
Real ID, as far as I know he has no ID documents at all. How fortunate for
him and for us that he's chosen Telenovela Express Airlines for his trip to
New York.
Wow, Celeste seems to have some serious detective skills, carefully tracing
"Gabriel Jones's" trip from Turkey and noting the several-day stay in Miami.
I loved your pointing out about Gloria that "The years of her brain
marinating in alcohol don’t appear to have done much damage."
I'm surprised that Blanca showed her bank account info to Esteban, "the
serial embezzler." "Ay, Blanca" indeed!
Will Cris be foolish enough to let Alberto see and be seen by his friends of
yore? Perhaps we'll find out tonight. Can't wait! But somewhere in the
next few days Carlos is bound to reveal his BSC self and probably endanger
either Ana or Alberto, or both.
Novelerea
Thank you for the excellent recap .I cast another vote for the tusseled hair . I am enjoying this show , but I have given up trying to follow the side stories .
The
Beautiful ,gentle Ana with the the innocent glowing eyes will surely end up with newly tusseled Alberto . True love should always win . I wonder what karma has in store for BSC , crazyeyed Chris and deeply dangerous, unstable Carlo.

This weekend we are transitioning to a new format, doing five one-hour episodes on weekends (when most of us have more free time). This leaves weekdays free for our current TN/dizis. This weekend we are doing #31-35.(31 up to 33 discussion Saturday, up to 35 on Sunday.)
Please join us!

Thanks, novelera. Great observations and asides.
I also agree that Gabriel is more attractive than Albert.
What a laugh, Cris is the calm one keeping Enrique from panicking.
I thought Tania was supposed to pretend she was asleep like Marina.
Ha, that was no NYC cab. That outdoor scene was filmed in Miami. Street sign read NW Miami Ct. I love how they blur the surroundings so you don’t easily recognize the palm trees in the background. Anyway, I’ve never known traffic to stop a NYC cabbie from zooming off.
I can’t believe Blanca let Esteban the “serial embezzler” (good one, novelera), into her life again even if it’s only as friends.
Why are all the "good" people in this novela so clueless, gullible and selfless? I chuckled when Albert said he was no “tonto”.
I hope I get something good to recap tonight.
Kat, ITA about hoping Val is carrying the Rubalcaba heir. I can't really see how Enrique gets serious prison time for killing Valentin. What killed him was falling down the ravine. Even if the bullet in the tree is found, Valentin was not shot. But this is a TN, and they might decide to go there.
Looks like I struck a chord about Al's hair! Juanita, I also wondered about Cris giving her on the edge brother a bottle of pills. But she knows what a narcissist he is and thinks self-preservation is too engrained. And I also wanted to elaborate more about my complete disbelief that Al boarded a plane with zero ID, but it was late, and I just stuck with my Real ID remark.
Why do I always find a big mistake the next day? When Alberto is talking with Celeste, he "explains CRIS'S fiction about a car accident in Los Angeles", not Barbie's fiction.
Susan, I've missed you. So nice to see a comment from you today.
Dondi, thanks for the insider info on NYC cabbies. I'd call it exasperating that they've shown Blanca innocently showing Esteban her net worth. But I think it's a red herring. It's too late in the show and too many other loose ends for the writers to treat us to a sobbing, dead broke Blanca.
Novelera, it's nice to be missed . I have been watching this show, but life has been hectic all spring and summer, so I had no time to comment . I was up early and got to bed late , so I've had no time or energy to comment , but I tried to read the recaps . Now that my furniture is back in my family room ,perhaps my life will slow a bit ,and I can return to the comfort and fun of the patio as well as my real.patio and my cherry tomato plants and flowers
P.s. our daughter lived in NYC for a few years so I know about those cabs...Susan
Is anyone else still watching? I’ve been the lone commentor for some days now. I’m still really enjoying this show! But I do want to know if I’m just talking to myself - ha!

Albert asks Cris to prove she’s telling the truth. Take me to where we lived in NY, he says, let me meet up with the people I knew. 3…2…1… Cris has a BSC episode in the middle of the restaurant. I can’t take it anymore. I did everything to make you better. She rises from the table. All I’ve done is sacrifice! Everything I’ve done is for you, Gabriel! This is how you repay me? You humiliate me?
I guess “Gabriel” has never witnessed this before. He looks perplexed, maybe a little embarrassed. Cris is off the rails, shouting at the top of her lungs. Enter Gloria, who immediately rushes to Cris’ side. Albert asks, what are you doing here? Glo replies, she asked me to come. What did you do, Glo asks, why is she like this? Glo whispers to Cris, Fiorela, you need to relax. There are many people here. Cris shouts back—I don’t want to calm down! Gabriel hates me! He feels nothing for me. Albert gets up, gives Cris a hug and asks for forgiveness.
Board room meeting. Cabal members only, although I think Enzo is kind of clueless. Marco says it’s time to announce the Velvet – Pima merger. Pilar is beaming. You don’t know how happy I am that this is finally happening. Enzo asks Glo to come to his side. He has his own announcement: Gloria and I are getting married. Pilar offers congrats. Marco offers nothing but a weak smile.
But there’s more. Enzo says he’s ready to retire and hand over Cafiero Enterprises to Marco. Marco gives us a brighter smile. Enzo says that Glo will manage some things at Velvet during the merger, under Pilar’s leadership. Time to celebrate!
At the Queens Bar. Sofi doesn’t want Rick to pass up his scholarship, so she offers to go to London with him. Rick tells her he still hasn’t decided yet. Raul joins them. And here comes Lau. He gets a cool reception and launches another fútbol metaphor in Raul’s direction. He thinks Raul is being unfair. Raul asks, where’s your novia?
Rick and Sofi cut out of the convo. Mia is with her real boyfriend, Lau replies, I’m sorry I didn’t tell you about having a baby. I should have let you know. You’re not like the others. You don’t want fame. Raul stops him there—no, no, no. I want fame, but not like that. Lau wants to talk someplace more private. I think they might want to use Rick’s place again.
Doña Emma surprises Clara at Velvet. If you’re looking for Mateo, he’s in his office. No, Emma says she’s there to speak to Clara. She read about Clara and Marco. She notes that Clara moved on quickly. [ok, if 3 years is quick.] She means it as a compliment. If I’d been like you, Emma says, my fate would have been different. My husband wasn’t worth it, but my Mateito is.
Clara asks, what do I have to do with your Mateito? Everything, Emma replies, he still loves you. Clara doesn’t believe it. Emma continues, we believe he came back for you, not for us. I heard him talking to a Dubai executive. He’s thinking of going back. If he leaves, my sisters and I will die of sadness. Emma says that at least they had Emily. [QEPD, Emily.] But without Emily and without Mateo… we cant take it if he leaves again.
Clara is affected. Tears fall. I’m sorry, she answers, but what can I do? Tell me, Emma asks, did you stop loving my son? Don’t tell me you’re in love with ese tal, Marco. Mateo is better. Clara doesn’t answer because ese tal Marco shows up to take Clara out.
Pepita enters the atelier. The dresses need to be ready this afternoon. Get to work! Blanca approaches her, so you’re the new manager now. Yes, Pepita says, just recently. Don’t worry, she snarks, you still have a place here… as a seamstress. Right there… in my former spot. Like old times, wouldn’t you say?
I’ve always been very proud to work at Velvet, Blanca replies, especially now that I’m one of my girls. Pepita corrects her. Yours? Don’t get it wrong, they are MY seamstresses. Get a stole to work on. Jules’ orders. Pepita snaps her fingers at Blanca. [I’d like to break them off her.] Check yourself and get to work.
Glo tells Cris that Albert doesn’t trust her (Glo). They should come up with a different plan in case he gets his memory back. Cris is thinking of leaving the country. Far away. Glo thinks Enrique wouldn’t go for that. Cris thinks that Enrique is too concerned with Valentin right now to care. I’ll use my capital. Can you help me with that? Glo agrees to help.
Jules is on the warpath in the atelier. She throws some fabric at Pepita. Blanca steps in. Jules remembers Blanca from the fashion expo. Blanca didn’t let her speak with Benjamin. Blanca had her reasons, Ben was busy, and Jules didn’t have an appointment. Jules notes, cuantas vueltas da la vida. If you had been nicer back then, maybe you’d have kept your job now. She orders Blanca to redo her work on the stole. Jules starts yelling at the seamstresses to get to work. Marco appears in the doorway and asks to speak with her. I think Pepita is appreciative that Blanca stepped in.
Valentin’s lawyer informs Valeria that she’s inherited everything. Elena barges in. I won’t let you steal what belongs to my family! That’s why you had my son killed! You asked Enrique to kill him! Val defends Enrique. What happened to Valentin was terrible, I’d do anything for it not to happen. It was an accident.
Elena calls it a convenient accident. Val says she had no idea about the inheritance. The lawyer backs her up. Elena tells Val she will never be able to enjoy his fortune. You will have to bear the weight of his death for the rest of your life. I won’t rest until you’re behind bars. Val threatens to sue Elena for slander. Elena and the lawyer leave.
Enter Enrique. Are you okay? She tells him she owns the Rubalcaba mines. Valentin left her everything. Glo enters. What are you two doing alone in the office? She chases Enrique.
Marco tells Jules that an HR complaint was filed against her. She wants to know who. He asks if it’s true she’s been yelling at and insulting the seamstresses. Clara walks into the office. Jules claims she’s just letting them know how she works. Okay, maybe her tone is a bit loud, but she doesn’t mistreat them. Marco adds, I suppose it’s also not true that your proposal was based on Ana’s designs. Jules denies it.
Jules wants to know who has been shamelessly spreading lies. Clara stands there with arms crossed. Jules acknowledges that complaints must remain anonymous, but she can’t work with a team when a member wants to destroy her image. Is it Blanca? I’ll fire her. You can’t do that, Marco quickly answers. I can’t work like this, Jules replies, I need to work in an environment where there’s trust, not envy.
Marco says he needs Jules to present a formal proposal for the new collection tomorrow. Jules says she can’t commit to that. She’s an artist. She needs to be inspired. She needs time. Marco tells her that’s not how it works in business. Inspired or not, I demand results! You work for me. Jules says she’s beginning to regret that. Convo is over. She walks out.
Marco wonders, what am I going to do now? Clara tells him he could start by admitting it was a bad idea to fire Ana and replace her with that “artist”. Marco reminds Clara that Ana went over his head to his father. He doesn’t want her at Velvet. Clara asks him to put his pride aside. Ana is the right person to put out this collection. You say you want to learn from me? Let’s put that into practice. You know what to do.
Too bad, Cris and Albert return to the Keys. Albert immediately goes to see Cindy. That leaves Cris to berate the staff. Why did you fall asleep, she asks Marina. Gabriel drugged me, Marina explains. Cris turns to Jacinto—and where were you? Buying something the boss asked for, he replies. Cris asks, and where was your stupid wife? Jacinto rats her out. She helped Gabriel. But I spoke to her [yeah, with his fists] and she promised she won’t speak to the boss again. Where is Tania? She’s in bed, she’s not feeling well.
Val tells Glo she’s pregnant. Glo hopes that the baby is Valentin’s. It’s what we need to calm Elena down. Val can’t be sure who the father is. Glo is angry. Can you imagine if the father is Enrique? Elena’s suspicions would be proven true. The police would see it as a perfect motive. Val defends Enrique’s innocence. Glo’s not so sure about that and Val would be named an accomplice. Glo wants Val to have an abortion.
Marga and Pedro giggle over pics of Peter, Pedro’s not son. He’s grown a lot. They reminisce. Pepita and Chi walk in. They are not happy to see the exes having a good time. Pepita orders Pedro to come with her to the warehouse to get fabric.
Ana meets with Marco at the high-class restaurant. He starts, you and I both know we’re not cut out to work together. Ana replies, you brought me here to tell me something I already know? No, I called to talk about what connects us, he answers. Velvet’s next collection. I’d like you to come back and finish it. Ana says he has Jules. Yes, Marco acknowledges, but it will take Jules time to get accustomed to the company and create a collection from scratch. I’m short on time. It’s yours if you want it.
Ana reminds him he fired her for disagreeing with his changes at Velvet. He says he’s not offering a permanent position. It’s just for this collection. It’s an opportunity for the seamstresses in Mexico. A chance to keep their jobs until the launch. It’s up to you. Ana counters, give me back the rights to my name and I’ll accept. Marco says she can have Carmen Garza but not Ana Velasquez. It’s a deal. This will be Ana’s last collection. They shake.
Barbie goes to see Carlos. She tells him she knows everything. Carlos claims he was only helping her friend. Cris was desperate after the quake. I only put my planes at her disposal. Barbie scoffs, they’re not your planes, they’re the Sahguns’. Does Sara know? No, Carlos replies, and she can never find out. Barbie is sure he didn’t act alone.
Carlos admits that Gloria has always been involved. Barbie can’t believe they kept this secret for 3 years. Carlos tells Barbie that now she is part of the secret. If you say anything, you’ll endanger your friend. You don’t understand, Barbie says, Cris is not well. She’s obsessed with Albert… and you with Ana. I don’t know if anybody here is sane. [ITA, Barbie.] Carlos asks, do you know what Cris is planning? She wants to take Albert out of the country, Barbie replies. Carlos had no idea. Barbie adds, Albert is getting his memory back. The other day he painted a picture of Ana’s face. Carlos makes his crazy face.
Cris reveals her plans to Albert. She spoke with his psychiatrist in NY. Time to take the next step… in Zurich. There’s a great clinic there that specializes in amnesia. Blah, blah, blah. But we have to leave now. They don’t have many spots. We can’t miss the opportunity. Albert says, if you spoke to him in NY, why are you telling me now? She dodges an answer. Just do it for you, me, and Cindy. I want you back to your old self. We must leave now.
Marco brings Ana to the atelier. Jules is surprised to see Ana. What’s the meaning of this? I wish things went differently, Marco tells her, but you left me no choice. You no longer work for Velvet. You can’t do this, Jules replies, we have a contract. If you fire me without merit, you will pay a fortune. And you don’t have a good reason.
Marco cites that Jules has been working from Ana’s designs instead of creating originals. She asks, are you accusing me of plagiarism? Don’t let it come to that, Marco answers, I’m asking you to leave and not make this more difficult. Marco makes an announcement to the atelier. From now on, Ana is the new creative director. Blanca is the first to welcome Ana back. Everyone applauds except Pepita.
Val comes to see Enrique. Did you know Valentin named me as sole heir? He says no. Val calls him out. Elena told me he signed those papers in your presence. Now she suspects something is going on between you and me. Did you…. Enrique emphatically says no. She grabs him by the collar and demands to know, did you kill him or not? Enrique says, he (Valentin) was a fool. He caught us and invited me to the mountains to kill me. He told me himself. It was my life or his. I chose mine. Valeria cries, that means you…
Enrique continues, Valentin wasn’t as naïve as you thought. He was a weirdo, an abnormal creep. People only tolerated him because of his family’s wealth. That idiot fell in love with you. My goddess this, my goddess that… he was a fool! If he wasn’t rich, you wouldn’t have married him. Or put up with his kisses, his touch, or the bland sex I imagine you occasionally had. You think he was a good person, but when he caught us, he went right to Barbara to buy her shares in the shipping company. [does that mean Valeria will inherit those now?] He wanted to destroy me. He told me as he pointed his rifle at me.
Valeria can’t believe it. Valentin wasn’t a violent man. Maybe you transformed him, Enrique opines, he was completely obsessed with you. He followed you all the time. He’d spy and go through your phone. He told me so. Val asks, how did he die? Enrique replies, before he could shoot, I jumped him. I tried to take the rifle, but he fell. We see the flashback of the struggle. Enrique flings Valentin away and he goes over the cliff.
Ana calls Pepita over and tells her she’s going back to being a seamstress. Pepita invokes Marco but Ana says she’s now in charge of the atelier. Blanca will be the boss. Blanca takes Pepita aside and is gracious. You’ll continue being my assistant, and I’ll keep getting you ready. Don’t rush towards something that will eventually be yours one day. It will work out in the end. The goal isn’t as special as the journey. Blanca hangs a measuring tape around Pepita’s neck.
Everything Elena said is true, Valeria sniffles, she’s on to us. Enrique shakes his head no. Nobody knows. Why didn’t you tell me, Val asks, does Barbie know you pushed him off the cliff? No, he says, but she suspects. I didn’t want this to happen, Val cries. But it did, Enrique replies. He holds her head in his hands. There’s nothing we can do about it. I already lost 30% of my company. I don’t plan on losing my freedom. I killed him for you. It’s what you wanted. You were only interested in his money. You’re fabulously wealthy and you owe it all to me.
I never asked for this, Valeria responds. I never imagined you were capable of something so horrible. Welcome to the real world, Enrique says, you’re not daddy’s little girl anymore. Benjamin is not here and neither is your brother. Your mother doesn’t love you. You only have me and from now on, you’re going to obey me. I know exactly what you need. He moves in for a kiss, but they are interrupted by Blanca, who quickly turns to leave. Val says she’s going with Blanca.
A salesperson is having trouble with an app. Marga helps her look for an exclusive client. Go here and enter the name. What is it? Lucia Arizmendi. A list of names come up in the search, including Carlos Aristizabal. Marga is surprised and starts thinking…
Carlos is ticked at Gloria. You lied and told me Albert didn’t remember anything. He painted a picture of Ana! Glo tells him to calm down, people are around, don’t draw attention. Albert still doesn’t remember, she says, it’s just flashes. Stop underestimating him, Carlos warns, Cris has lost control of him. That’s why he came to NY. Now there’s Barbie, she knows everything. This is getting out of hand.
Glo reminds Carlos that Cris is taking Albert to Europe. Yes, Carlos knows, but he’s unhappy that things are being done without his input. Why didn’t Cris ask me to organize the trip? Glo says she handles all of Cris’ affairs. She’s going to arrange the trip with a private airline and her assistant will handle the paperwork. Carlos insists on being kept in the loop. He wants to know when they leave, where they will stay. Glo asks why. Carlos gives her his crazy look.
Albert manages to get a signal for his phone. [Cris didn’t take it away?] He calls Celeste. She asks him if he spoke with his wife. Yes, he says, and she denied everything. Celeste says she has the documents. The connection is bad and keeps dropping out. Celeste says she sent them, and it shows his admission to the hospital with his wife’s signature. There is something they are not telling you. The calls drops but Albert is able to bring up the docs Celeste sent. It’s just as Celeste said.
Albert calls Celeste back. He got the file, but he doesn’t understand. She tells him they are lying to you. Your wife doesn’t want you to remember your past, but she doesn’t know why. She tells him to get out of that house and take his daughter with him. Come to NY. She will help. He’s got to hang up. Marina comes in and says Cris needs him. He takes another look at the docs.
Esteban, the serial embezzler, (thanks, novelera) is looking for the password to Blanca’s bank account. Ah, he spots a picture of Jennifer…. Is that the password?
Albert walks in on Cris as she’s arranging for the trip. He tells her that going to Zurich is a good idea. He’s onboard. She’s delighted. She gives him a big hug. He says he’s excited to start remembering. She is too, and says they are leaving tomorrow. So soon? Yes, she replies, we must get the spot. I’ve been looking at houses to buy. Hold on, Albert asks, to buy a house? Buy, rent, whatever, she laughs, I’m going to sell this house so we can fully move in, and you can focus on recovering your memory.
Albert asks for one thing. He wants to take Tania with them. Cindy really loves her. Cris is against it. She says Tania won’t want to leave her husband. Albert thinks Tania would go. Cris laughs again. Women like her are used to being hit and mistreated. I like the English translation here—“For God’s sake, Fiorela! Cris is sure Tania won’t leave.
Cris gets horny because she thinks her plan is working. She starts kissing Albert. He’s sorry, he’s just not in the mood. He wants to see Cindy. Cris is crazy with glee. [I wonder what Albert is planning?]
Marga takes another look at the customer database. This time she’s with Clara, who asks, what’s up? I just discovered a matter of life and death, Marga replies. You remember what happened to Rodrigo? Yes, he overdosed. Marga recalls he was also accused of sex crimes and nobody believed it.
Clara asks, what made you remember that today? Marga answers, I remembered because Rodrigo told Ana that Carlos was a very bad person. He was with a girl from Sahgun Global. I was checking out the database and I saw the name, Carlos Aristizabal. He has an account at Velvet. He bought a bunch of dresses for Katy Mendez. [Is all that info available in the database?] It rang a bell. He knew her, they were involved. He lied to Ana. Marga says the question is—why did he hide it?
And we are out.
Dondi, are you aware that you've posted part 1 twice? At first, I thought you had simply misnumbered part 2, but no, there are two identical part 1s. I suggest you delete one of them (by hitting DELETE that appears right after each part).
I wasn't aware. Thanks for letting me know, Juanita. I've had occasional trouble posting. Should be okay now.
Thanks VERY much, dondi, for this magnificent recap. It helped me see things
I'd missed when I watched the show last night, and it added your priceless
asides, starting with "Pepita snaps her fingers at Blanca. [I’d like to
break them off her.]"
Wow, Clara looked much more with it in the scene last night with Marco.
I'm not sure whether that means she's likely to be with Mateo at the end of
the novela or whether she'll be a strong, single woman in charge of her
fate. This being a telenovela, and me being something of a wimp, I'm
guessing the former.
Gloria outlines all the bad things that can happen if Val continues with
the pregnancy. Glo not surprisingly tells Val she must get an abortion. I
doubt that Val will say "No, mom, I can't--this is a telenovela!" I guess
the happily-ever-after solution is for Val to carry the baby to term and for
a paternity test to reveal the father was Valentin. But, of course, if
the test reveals that Enrique fathered the child, Enrique could be accused
of killing Valentin, and Valeria too could be implicated. Hmmm...is it
possible to do a paternity test on a fetus in utero? If not, will the
writers have her miscarry?
Dondi, I too am wondering what Alberto is planning to prevent Cris from
whisking him off to Zurich. The next episode or so should be interesting.
However.... thanks to Marga, the issue of Carlos's possible murder of Katy
Mendez has been revived. He seems to be using this episode to practice his
BSC look. Hmmm...perhaps I'm NOT looking forward to the next few episodes.
Maggie, I’m still watching and really appreciate your always reliable comments. (I often get up at 3 AM Central and check my phone for those excellent comments.) I’m really busy doing summaries for another tn/dizi, so I haven’t had time to participate. This is settling down now, so I might make more comments soon. Anyway, you are not alone and are much appreciated!
Babachita
So Enrique is firmly in the side of evil. “Obey me”? Dude. She’s the one with all the money AND you’re shipping company. She should be in charge. And far away from you. I hope he gets charged with the murder even if it really isn’t murder. He belongs in prison.
And maybe he can share a cell with Esteban. Stealing all Blanca’s money is not going to go over with her or with Sofia. But Sofia is cute to go to London with Ric. Probably best to get away from velvet for a while anyway.
I’m not sure what to think of Marco. He’s was a jerk about selling the Mexico factory and hiring Jules, but he did bring back Ana, even if temporary and he’s open about his relationship with Clara, which is more than Mateo was. Maybe he’s only a little bit of a jerk who is very much a better businessman than Al was. Velvet should probably keep him around. And Clara should be promoted and dump both guys. Emma hasn’t changed and only wants her back with Mateo to keep him in NY. Clara should take a break from men for a bit.
And so should Pepita. Girl should focus on getting better at her job under Blanca’s tutelage (or go get another job- Pima might be hiring and she’d fit right in there) and stop wasting time on Pedro. She did look appreciative of Blanca and properly shamed, so maybe this time her redemption will stick. She only has a couple days to make this work so better get on it!
Thanks for the details of what Marga found. I was a little confused because I forgot who Katy was. (And forgot all about Rodrigo, QEPD). Marga needs to get to work too because not much time left to take down Carlos!

Maggie I'm still watching also. If I don't make my comments immediately after watching it i forget. Had a busy week so I was playing catch up.
Thanks Dondi. I watched this late Friday night and finally read your recap. Two observations. Wouldn't Velvet own the designs Ana was working on before she was terminated? Not that we want Jules as creative designer, I really don't think she was in the wrong using the proprietary designs of a Velvet employee.
Also, there was a telenovela, Fatmagül actually, where a blood test could determine who the father of the fetus is. So if I were Valeria I would go that route. Elena really would likely forgive her if she gives her a grandchild and I also think Enrique has lost all hope of winning Val back. At least I hope he has.
Yikes. I am late to the party and was typing in my comment when something about making a Spanish quote in italics dumped the whole thing. I'm tired. Thanks a million, dondi, for another splendid recap.
Loved "cabal members only" and Barbie's saying to Carlos: "not your plane".
I don't like Jules, but humiliating her in front of the whole atelier was pretty low class of Marco.
Enrique lies to Valeria about Valentin's behavior in the woods. He didn't try to kill Enrique, only scare him and let him know he'd gotten a big chunk of Ortegui Shipping from Barbie. Also, he is sticking to the lies about Valentin trying to kill him. He does tell Valeria the truth: Le aventé (I threw him over). Pretty sure he's misjudged Valeria. She may not have been madly in love with her husband, but she was fond of him.
Pepita doesn't deserve Blanca's kindness. She needs to be out on her ear for her outrageous behavior toward the other seamstresses.
That was a very frustrating bad connection between Alberto and Celeste, but it seems he got the gist of it.
Ana again is a wimp. She should have held out against Marco for her own name as a designer before agreeing to pull his irons out of the fire.
