Denizer House:
Elif and Omer on the stairs; Elif is crying that she doesn’t know what she’s going to do. Omer says they will be more careful and stay calm.
Omer: We can increase security.
(Elif continues to cry.)
Omer: Don’t you trust me anymore?
Elif: I’ve never given up on trusting you.
More long looks between them. Omer says to take a deep breath.
Omer: You handle Metin so well. The operation didn’t fail. I’ll teach you how to defend yourself. You and I will take our revenge. We’ll make life unbearable for them. I’ll show them what happens after they attack a lady.
Elif smiles and then goes to wash her face.
Omer looks very pensive. He follows her into the bathroom, asking her: Was he here about Rome?
Elif: He brought the ticket.
Omer: Well, that’s great. It’s all falling in place now. The plan will work, Elif. (She continues to cry.). Remember what we said, don’t give up. If you do, then they win.
Elif: Omer!
Omer: I’m here.
Elif has a FLASHBACK to Metin talking to her about Asli [I think]:
Metin: And with that pain [from the abortion] she killed her mother. Another trauma. Her husband hanged himself in prison. Three traumas, If I were her, I would find no reason to live and I would just jump from a bridge or something. What do you say? Shall we go and ask your sister her opinion about all this?
Return to present: Omer and Elif continue to stare, while she is remembering her interaction about Asli.
Elif: Nothing. [Omer asking what’s bothering her].
Omer: Come with me and let’s drink some coffee. It’s good to be angry.
Husseyn at his second home. Svetlana says he doesn’t understand how his son could break this.
Svetlana: It’s not that, check the cable.
Husseyn: How come my beautiful wife knows about repairing these things.
Svetlana: You’re not always here and there’s no one else to help- me out. My son and I handle it together. We have gotten used to being alone.
Husseyn: Why do you say that? Do you think I don’t come on purpose?
Svetlana: No, I’m not accusing you. You have a family.
Husseyn: You’re also my family and you’re not alone. (They embrace.) Be patient my dear; it’ll pass, all will pass. I’ll solve all the problems. I’ll take you; I’ll take my children; and set up a new life. We’ll never separate. We will grow old together. We still need to see the kids’ graduation, we’ll see them getting married.
Svetlana: Do you want another kid?
Husseyn: Another kid! No, I already have three of them. I’ll take Demet and Hasan with me. We’ll all be together. We’ll never separate. They will always be with their father. Be a little patient (as he strokes Wife’s hair, while she makes sort of a smile).
Denizer house
Omer and Elif in kitchen drinking coffee.
Omer: How are you now?
Elif: Hmmm.
Omer: Tell me the truth.
Elif: Metin didn’t only come to bring me the ticket.
Omer: So why was he here?
Elif: It’s really hard to talk about these things.
Omer: Hey, Elif, it’s me, Omer, sitting here. I don’t get why it’s so hard.
Elif: Because you’re perfect. Your life, people around you, your family, it’s perfect. But my life is a nightmare, and my family is so complicated that they’re hard to handle. I mean, it’s almost impossible for me to survive. It feels like a sinking ship.
Omer: There’s something else here. Come on, tell me.
Elif: How can you tell, officer? Is it my perspiration that gave me away?
Omer: It’s your eyes. You couldn’t take your eyes off me, even if you wanted to. Look, we won’t stop watching out for each other. OK? Remember that forest I saw in your eyes? Clouds could obscure it, and I would see right away, like I do right now.
Elif: Then come with me.
Babachita
Husseyn’s second house
Svetlana is preparing something. He sneaks into son’s room, covers and hugs sleeping child. Then he looks up to where he had hidden the diamonds in his car seat. It has moved. He tries to find the diamonds, but they are not there.
Denizer House:
Elif shows Omer video of Asli throwing her mother.
Omer: Where did they find the image? Tayyar said he turned the cameras off.
Elif: Uncle Tayyar said once that the images were stolen. What kind of a man is Metin? He doesn’t have any limits, Omer. If Asli sees this, she’ll be devastated. Although it’s an accident, she’ll say that she killed her mother
Omer: Elif, let’s calm down.
Elif: How can I calm down, after this, after all that, how will Asli handle this when she already tried to kill herself? She might even try it again if she knew this. I just don’t know what to do.
Omer: Let’s think here, ok, we can stop Metin from getting to Asli. We can protect her. Metin won’t be able to reach her.
Elif: Nilufer.
Omer: Even you said she was safe.
Elif: She’s just never going to be safe, no matter where I try to hide her.
Omer: OK, why is that?
Elif: Nilufer is in love with Metin.
Omer: What do you mean? But he kidnapped her. He’s done so many bad things.
Elif: She loves him because she is stupid. She’s so stupid she can’t even recognize the danger here. Omer, look at all of us! My sister and I have become toys in the hands of them. (Elif cying.)
Omer: Elif, I’m sorry but crime is not going to solve anything here. Let’s both take a deep breath. OK? Look, I’m with you. We’ll solve this, ok? Chief Sami believes in you. Elif, you are not alone.
Elif: You’re wrong. I lost some of my spirit when my father died and even more when my mother died. I don’t have anyone, but even though all of these things have happened, I’ll find a way to get over it. I will stand up alone, just like I did before, I’ll find a way to solve all of this and find peace again with my sister.
Omer: Elif, I know how strong you are, I know.
Elif: I feel better knowing that you’re by my side. I’ll be able to sort all this mess out at last and move on with my life. I just have to stay focused on what needs to be done.
Husseyn: I put something inside this car seat. Where is it. What did you do with it?
Svetlana: I never touched it.
Husseyn: I won’t be angry with you, where did you put it? He grabs her wrist hard.
Svetlana: What’s going Husseyn, I don’t understand.
He looks at her angrily and throws the car seat to the floor.
Husseyn: What did you do today? Did you go out?
Svetlana: I went to the park in the morning and then to his friend’s.
Husseyn: What time did you get back?
Babachita
Svetlana: I don’t know. Maybe 5 or 5:30-ish. What’s going on Husseyn? What did you have in there?
Husseyn: Our future.
Tayyar’s home, with Pinar in their bedroom.
Tayyar: Lie down, go on, lie down.
Pinar: Tayyar, what are you going to do to me?
Tayyar: I promise I’ll fix you.
Pinar: Tayyar, I already told you everything. Me and Taner.
Tayyar: I know, I know, but I’m afraid we have another problem. The baby.
Pinar looks surprised.
Tayyar: You didn’t know about it, right? You are carrying a baby, Pinar. What’s more, you don’t know who is the father. The options at present are me or that Taner person. (He grabs her by the neck) Tell me now! (He squeezes her neck hard. He wants to do more but pulls back. He stalks around the room), then turns and says: Anyway, that’s not the issue. Luckily you have more to live for. I was going to take you from the hospital and throw you down a cliff, making it look like an accident. That wouldn’t be hard to do. But I learned about the baby, and I thought I will make a new arrangement. You’ll take care of it, carry it to nine months, you’ll give it birth, feed it, love it, you’ll be attached to it. Later, we’ll take a DNA test. If the baby is mine, then there won’t be any kind of problem. We’ll carry on exactly where we left off. If it belongs to Taner, then we have problem. I’ll make you kill him with your own hands. I can promise you this, Pinar, you’ll never recover from that experience. Okay, and with this pain I’ll make you live the longest life possible. What do you think? Isn’t it a really good agreement, my dear? That’s very fair, isn’t it? I think you’re quite lucky. Now, take a rest, keep away from stress and don’t get tired or the baby will be stressed. Oh, by the way, you might not have heard. We went sunbathing on the boat. We are in deep trouble. We lost Taner. He couldn’t stand being the murderer of his father-in-law, he couldn’t stand that terrible feeling of guilt, that poor boy hanged himself. May his soul rest in peace.
Pinar is crying and suffering from listening to all of this.
Denizer house, Elif and Omer:
Elif: I’m very tired.
Omer: It’s been a long night.
Elif: You’re late because of me. The household must have been worried about you.
Omer: Chuckles, no worries, they’re used to it.
Elif: Thank you.
Omer: Not at all.
Elif: Let me say goodbye.
Omer: Elif, let me stay here tonight. Otherwise, I won’t feel right.
Elif: No. there’s no need. I’ll be careful. I’ll lock the doors and set the alarm properly, ok?
Omer: It’s dangerous to be complacent now, that’s when you start making mistakes. We can’t become complacent, all right?
Elif: Do I look like a relaxed person, Omer?
Omer: Only because you said you wanted to stay alone. Now, what if Metin didn’t believe what you told him? He’d come back right away. What would you do then, karate?
Elif: Isn’t it more dangerous to have you here? Didn’t we decide not to appear together so that this could work? Am I wrong, officer?
Omer: Good, you’re learning the ins and outs of police work. Look, Elif, I know you can handle Metin, but please let me stay here, ok? If he comes back, it’ll be safer if we deal with him together. He’s dangerous.
Elif: Well, I guess you can stay if you want to. There’s the couch.
Omer: Grateful for the hospitality.
Elif: Touche
Babachita
Husseyn is leaving his second house, getting into the car. He calls someone. “This is Husseyn. We need to talk urgently. OK, let’s meet at our usual spot. He angrily starts the car.
Denizer house:
Elif is dressed for bed and turns out light. Goes to bed, looks at a picture of her family, and cries. Omer listens at the door, thinks about entering, but decides not to. He lies down and sleeps on the landing outside her room. He is thinking hard.
Husseyn is driving fast.
He has a LONG FLASHBACK to that night: he cleans blood off his face. He calls someone: Hello, job’s done as we agreed. What is good about it, he yells. What was she doing there? My brother’s fiancée. What was she doing there? Right! I’m done for. I’m lost! I killed! What was I supposed to do? I found no diamonds. I looked everywhere in the car. It’s all a mess now!
OK. I’ll see you in the morning. Hangs up angrily. He stops suddenly and hits the steering wheel with his fist, saying to himself: This is bad, this is bad! Then he breaks down and cries. Then he takes out a bag and looks at the diamonds he did retrieve, but didn’t tell his boss about. Later he meets his boss but answers a call from Arda: What is it? (Arda is calling about the double murder.) I’m busy and can’t come now. Be sure Omer is kept away from there. He shouldn’t mess with the file. It’s not even his field. We shall restrain him from getting into trouble. I’ll come when I’m done. Hang up now!.
(Footsteps announce…Tayyar)
Tayyar: Well, Husseyn, things didn’t go quite as planned or what?
Husseyn: What was Sibel doing there?
Tayyar: Turn of fate, I say.
Husseyn: Did you just send me to kill my brother’s fiancée on purpose?
Tayyar: Slow down, take it easy. How could I know that Sibel was to be your sister-in-law?
Husseyn: And you also don’t know how deep I am in this
Tayyar: A famous businessman was found dead in the car with his girlfriend. All evidence destroyed. That’s all.
Husseyn: That’s all. What’s going to happen to my brother? Omer is here. He was in the team that went to the crime scene. Do you think my brother can sleep in peace without finding his fiancee’s murderer? Do you think he won’t follow up on this? You still don’t know Omer. He is one of the best police officers of this country. He won’t quit until he solves the case. We are done for.
Husseyn: In that case, you’ll need to show your experience .
Tayyar: I’m sure you’ll deal with it. You’ve done this kind of thing before, I’m sure you’ll deal with it. You’re a man that has been hiding his lover’s murder file for six years [!!!!]. You’’ll deal with it. (Tayyar smiles). Absolutely no one has learned that Svetlana is a murderer, no one will learn about this, either. My advice to you is do the same thing for yourself. We sometimes need to think for ourselves, Husseyn.
Husseyn: It’s not that easy, Tayyar.
Tayyar: It is easy. He’s not better than you. He’s just a newcomer. You can get rid of your brother quickly, I’m sure of that. All you’ve got to do is mess with the files a little. Nobody knows you’re a murderer and no one is going to find out. You’re a smart man, Husseyn. Don’t underestimate yourself. You’ve always been smart enough. [Really buttering him up here!]
End of Flashback
Back in the present, he meets this same person in the same place, an old warehouse. Up walks…Tayyar!
Tayyar: You left in the dark, Husseyn. That’s just the way it is. It’s not easy to be the boss. You have to solve all the problems of your men, you have to light up their darkness. Yes, You’ve got five minutes. Now tell me your problem. I got things to do.
Husseyn: Don’t worry. It won’t take that long. Where are my diamonds?
Tayyar: There’s probably a misunderstanding, Husseyn. They are my diamonds.
They stare back and forth at one another.
Babachita
Denizer house:
Omer is still on the landing. He hears Elif having a nightmare.
Elif: Asli, don’t do that, please!
[Omer picks up what I think is a key to those boxes Elif’s father made, or to something else. It seems to be important. I remember seeing one early on in this tale.]
Elif: (Still dreaming) Don’t go in. Cries out in fright. Then she wakes.
Omer: Hey, it’s over. It was a nightmare.
Elif: When, when will this be over?
Omer: It’ll be over soon, I promise. You need some sleep, OK? (He eases her back in the bed and covers her. He gets up to leave but then sits back down. He almost touches her head with his hand, then touches her hair, then gets up quickly and leaves the room. He goes back to the landing. Meanwhile, he examines the object he took from Elif’s things.
Back to the warehouse with Husseyn and Tayyar in the present.
Tayyar: That’s the way it is. It’s a hard thing to be a boss. You’ve got to watch your men carefully and try to foresee each of your men’s next move. You always have to be one step ahead, so that they don’t betray you. You know, even the most sincere one can betray you quite easily. You can win only if you’re strong. Listen, now that you’ve just learned who the boss is, you can pay for those diamonds.
Husseyn: I’ve been covering you for six years, Tayyar. To make matters worse, I killed Sibel and hurt my brother. I have already paid heavily for that cost. I deserve those diamonds. You understand? They’re my diamonds. You can see it as an interest of what you’ve already earned because of me. Now give me my diamonds and I will clear your debt. [IMHO Husseyn is very strong here, standing up to Tayyar.]
Tayyar: How can we judge all the money I have given you for so many years?
Husseyn: Are you fooling a child with a few pennies? You’ve had thousands. I’ve risked my profession, my pride, even my self-respect for you. You hurt my brother deep in his heart. Not even all your diamonds would pay for this. Nothing would pay for it.
Tayyar: Oh, come now, don’t worry about that. I searched and saw Svetlana’s file wasn’t there yet. That’s an interesting case, too. Successful commissioner covers up a Russian girl’s murder case. It’ll be a headliner in prison, of course, we don’t need to worry about that, do we? Husseyn: OK, I’ll take you to prison with me then. What will I do there, huh, without my best friend? I will miss you. Do you think I haven’t done anything in such a long time, huh? I also invested in my future. I have enough evidence on you to turn you in in only one hour. Remember your last strike? You told me to destroy their documents. I destroyed them by hiding them in a safer place, and I have the videos of those poor people whose organs you pulled out, your meetings with organized mafia, the deals that you made with them. The hospital has poor security systems there. You should have checked it and there’s also the Foundation , the one you set up, the one for funding poor girl’s educations, but ending up making them carriers. Yes, Sibel was one of them, too. You made her a carrier, didn’t you?
(Tayyar is silent and looks really worried, for once!)
Husseyn: These are just a few examples Tayyar. There are more serious ones, you’ll have a big problem if something happens to me or if I just go crazy or something, they will reach the department. How do you like that? Now, that’s it, Tayyar Dundar, you think you are the boss, huh? But you can’t be the boss all the time. Now you will tell me where you’re keeping my diamonds. Tell me where they are. Everyone will take his share, and we will get over this, you understand? Am I making myself clear to you? I want my share. Is that understood?
Babachita
Tayyar: Husseyn, you know that I knew that you had kept the diamonds since that night. You changed the hiding place many times. How many nights had you waited for them? How many times had you checked them? I could have taken them if I wanted my diamonds. Do you know why I didn’t? Because they’re safer with you and I knew perfectly well you’d take good care of them.
Husseyn: Where are my diamonds, Tayyar?
Tayyar: Where you put them in the first place.
(Husseyn starts to leave.).
Tayyar continues: Husseyn, something inside me says we’re going to see each other again. I’m telling you, you cannot sell those diamonds to anyone. You tried it once which almost had you caught. Then Omer solved the situation. You take them again, the same thing will happen. You better bring them to me, OK? I’ll take one diamond for each favor you’re done for me, what do you think, huh? That makes sense. I’m generous today.
Husseyn doesn’t answer and starts to leave.
Tayyar looks very concerned, something new for him, perhaps. Husseyn was quite formidable.
Denizer house:
Elif is turning in bed. Omer still staring at the object he took and sitting on the landing. He is fascinated and smiles at the object.
In the cemetery, Husseyn finds the diamonds buried atop his father’s gave. He digs them out of the dirt. He appears to be thinking of where to hide them next.
At his office, Tayyar is looking at a video of Husseyn and his meeting and thinking. Apparently the interchange was taped. It is a video of the first meeting, the night of the murder. Tayyar is making a fist as he watches.
Denizer House:
Omer made breakfast. Elif is surprised.
Elif: Good morning.
Omer: Ha, good morning Sleepy head. Here is your orange juice.
Elif: Thank you, that’s really nice. (They sit.) I couldn’t sleep last night. How did you sleep? That couch isn’t comfortable. I was concerned about you.
Omer: No, I had a good night. I really slept well.
Elif notices Omer is wearing Mussafah’s shirt. Omer said he borrowed it and his hat.
Omer: How does it look? (He looks serious again). We should be careful now. Metin might be watching us. He was convinced that we broke up yesterday and he really needs to believe that so we cannot see that much of each other.
Elif: Let me tell you something. It won’t be hard to convince Metin of this because we really did break up.
(Omer looks at her sadly.)
Omer: I guess I’d better go. Let me know if you need anything. We’ll be in touch anyway.
Elif: I know you protect me even from afar therefore we don’t need to see each other again. I don’t think I’ll need any more protection here, but thank you. Thank you for everything.
Omer: You’re right, Elif, you’re right. Can I please have that ticket to Rome?
Elif”: What happens if Metin figures it out? What if something bad happens.
Omer: I’ll return it.
She gets the ticket.
Omer: Ok. It’s good. OK, take care.
Omer heads out the door: Look after yourself
Elif: I’ll be fine.
He goes down the stairs.
She goes back in the house and shuts all the locks. Omer leaves wearing a baseball cap and doesn’t look like himself. He sets off walking. But Sami drives up and tells him to get in his car.
Sami: Get in, Omer, we need to talk.
Babachita
At Bahar’s place.
Elif knocks on the door. Elif has the purse with the device in it, so Metin will probably hear all of this if the device is still active.
Bahar: What happened?
Elif: You were right.
Bahar: Is it Omar again?
Elif: Of course. Omer in whose eyes I lose myself. Omer, burning me from the inside when my skin touches his. Omer who takes my breath away every time he says Signorina, Omer, Omer, Omer!
Bahar: What did he do again?
Elif: He didn’t do anything. That’s just the problem. I’m just done with trying to get his attention. I thought it would work if I gave it more effort. And now it’s over. I finally accepted it. And I won’t beg for his love anymore.
Bahar: Let me tell you something. It’s not only our guys. All men are like this, all of them.
Elif: Hang on, you haven’t told me what happened to you. Please tell me.
Bahar: He dumped me for a girl who’s certainly not worth it (Bahar rolls her eyes here). You see, I’m also alone.
Babachita
That’s it for this episode. Lots of flashbacks, and I was left wondering who is on top, Tayyar or Husseyn. Tayyar has the smarts, but Husseyn has impressive skills. Husseyn has spent years gathering dirt, changing records, and building a strong position. He also has the police. Tayyar has many who do his dark work. Together, these two are really formidable, but if their alliance starts to come apart, watch out!
I liked Omar guarding Elif. The actors do such a great job with their skill and charisma.
Babachita
Thanks Babachita!
It was a fascinating episode! And we learn that Tayyar and Husseyn are in league with each other... not really surprising, but news still. I agree Husseyn is the first to actually make Tayyar look worried, but only for a moment.
And girlfriend #2 is a murderer too? Wow! I mixed that up when I was watching, I thought Tayyar was saying that Husseyn had previously killed one of his lovers six years ago - but then I don't listen carefully to that creepy little man. I really need to suck it up and listen to that man.
Bahar is such a beautiful girl, if it wasn't for her bittiness and resentment she could just go out and find herself something much better than Lavent and all this drama!
The only thing that made me laugh is the idea that Omer didn't look like himself in that baseball cap! I'm with Sami, I think he looked exactly like Omer wearing a baseball cap, I don't see how that disguised him at all...
Darcy, I tend to ff when Tayyar is in a scene. Creepy little man, indeed!
Bahar seems to be driven by resentment, based on her reverse-classist comments to Omer. It is a shame because she’s smart and has done well for herself already. I guess her smirks and eye-rolls show her true self. It’s a shame because Elif could really use a loyal good friend.
You’re right, it’s hard to conceal Engin, but he does look a little different without his glorious hair!
Babachita
Babachita I also have questions about girlfriend 2. Are you referring to Hussein's girlfriend or one of Tayyer's former gf's.
Thanks for the recap. I seem to miss a lot. I especially missed a lot of the Hussein /Tayyer discussion. Maybe like all the rest of you I tune it out when Tayyer is in a scene. I generally can follow all the Omer/Elif dialogue.
It should be wife #2 or Svetlana. I had to look up the name. Apparently she is Russian and murdered someone. Husseyn (a cop) hooked up with her and is hiding this. He must have altered those records among all the others. But Tayyar knows about it!
Babachita
Thanks for bringing us a full account of the episode, Babachita.
You are correct about Svetlana. That's how Tayyar has Huseyin under his control.
Engin's "glorious hair" is always a topic of discussion among his fans. Is it better longer or shorter? He says, if he does his job well, the hairstyle shouldn't matter.
#45 recap coming now.
Sami takes Omer to their secret meeting place. I warned you, he rebukes, what did we agree on? I know, Omer replies, I shouldn’t have stayed, but I couldn’t leave her on her own. He just left the house. Sami continues, I told you to keep away from the girl, but you ignore my instructions. And you did gun training without telling me! Omer rationalizes, she must protect herself, she’s in danger.
Do you think I don’t know, Sami angrily replies, all you need to do is what I tell you. Omer says there has to be another way. That’s what I’m telling you, Sami says. Have you always acted like this during previous operations? Think about that. Omer says he has. Sami disagrees—you haven’t! Because this girl is not just anyone for you. You are going to her with your heart, not your head. You’re not thinking logically. If you continue like this, you will continue to make mistakes. I’ll exclude you from the operation. You can’t do that, Omer responds. I can and I will, Sami says, if you carry on this way.
Omer takes out the plane ticket. The date for the operation is set. Metin gave Elif the tickets to Rome yesterday. If she finds out I’m not involved, she might make a mistake. If she does, we’ll miss our chance.
Bahar and Elif have breakfast out on the balcony. Elif is lost in thought. Bahar tells her she’ll be angry if she’s thinking of Omer. What did we decide to do? Throw men out of our lives. Elif loves Bahar’s attitude. Bahar turns up the song on the radio and they both sing along and laugh.
Song: Gelme/Don’t Come - Toygar Işıklı
YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eM-x6lBEUM&list=RD0eM-x6lBEUM&start_radio=1
Sami tells Omer he’ll organize everything for the day of the flight. [Ha, Omer’s playing with his lighter.] This video of the other girl [Asli] is a problem. Omer says they should interrogate Asli after she’s recovered. Sami says they should forget this incident. How can we, Omer asks, we can’t make the file disappear. If so, they will think I did this for Elif. Understand this, Sami says, once love is involved everything gets messy. You’re right Omer replies, you want Asli’s file so the operation doesn’t get compromised.
Sami continues, the girl’s mother is dead, Allah rahmet eylesin. But we can’t miss the chance to capture a big gang because of a small accident. This is my last warning to you. Love blinds a person’s eyes, wraps their ears. If you follow the flutter of your heart, then you fall. You’re a professional. What will happen to the girl? How will she react when she sees you? There’s no room for mistakes. Put the relationship on hold… don’t give her hope. Otherwise, I’ll put an end to it without telling you. Omer agrees because Elif’s life is more important than his love for her.
Arda and Pelin have a meal at Omer’s house. Elvan asks about work. Pelo says the usual, they are very busy. Melike chimes in, why do you ask them about business? Are they strangers? Elvan finds a reason to send Melike from the table. Go get the cheese with some olive oil. Melike makes an excuse to stay. Arda and Pelo say don’t bother. But Elvan won’t accept it. Melike runs off.
Elvan admits she sent Melike so they could talk about Elif and Omer. They are good for each other, but they have a problem. Didn’t you notice them at the funeral and circumcision? I didn’t want to interfere. I thought they could solve their own problems. They looked heartbroken. We can help them. Melike comes back with the cheese so that’s the end of that convo for now.
Elif and Bahar come to work together. Levent greets them. He addresses Bahar as “hanım” and whisks Elif away to show her some great news. It’s our online sales, they are doing very well. Thousands of people visit the website. Branded boutiques are ordered. Elif gives full credit to Levent. It was an excellent marketing strategy. He compliments her, if you didn’t create such beautiful designs, not even the best marketing could succeed. You are the star. Bahar jealously watches them from her office.
Back to Omer’s house. Melike notes that Pelo and Arda’s jobs are difficult. You work day and night. You’re lucky Arda, your wife waits for you at home. There are times I don’t see Huseyin for 3 days. And you Pelin, who is going to accept this kind of life? Only someone who works the same job. But then you would never see each other, Melike adds and laughs. Pelo says she doesn’t want to get married so there’s no problem. [The look on Arda’s face.]
Melike continues to run her mouth. She asks Pelo why. You’ve lost weight, you look fit. [look at Arda again.] Elvan interrupts to stop the interrogation. Pelin says she’ll go make coffee. Melike says Pelo is a guest, so she will make it. Then they can tell fortunes after.
Elvan gets back to the prior conversation. Do you think you can help me? Arda answers, Elvan Anne, we are talking about 2 adults. We can’t interfere. If we do, Omer will figure it out. Pelo pipes up—he won’t. I agree with you Elvin Teyze. Tell me what you want me to do. Otherwise, their love will be wasted.
Omer is with the calligrapher. He points out the differences in Taner’s handwriting samples. It made him conclude that Taner was forced to write the letter in jail. He’s absolutely sure. Omer says he might call him to testify. The calligrapher agrees and he asks Omer if his friend liked gift. Mevlana’s [aka, Rumi] words.
Omer says she liked it when she saw it. But when she learned what it said she felt a little offended. I guess it served its purpose. I should apologize. I feel like I disrespected your art. She will learn the value of calligraphy and of the gift. Calligrapher answers, one should always value someone who values you. Do you know what I mean? Today it’s hard to find someone who appreciates values, and also someone who has faith. Always strive for this. Omer thanks him.
Lawyer Sebnem meets with Tayyar. He thanks her for making time for him and is pleased things are going well. He’s worried about Elif. Her mood hasn’t been good lately. She’s very nervous. Have you noticed? She says no. But she looks unsettled by the question. Tayyar knows the company isn’t doing well. He says, I thought she might have spoken to you. She hasn’t said a word to me. I can’t help her.
Sebnem says Elif has told her some things, but she can’t disclose them because Elif is her client. He should know that. My girl, Tayyar says, don’t you know me? You practically grew up in my hands. I’m like a brother and a father to you. Of course, Tayyar Bey, she answers, I can’t repay you. If it weren’t for you and your foundation, I wouldn’t have finished school. I wouldn’t have this profession. He replies, that means you can trust me, right? Whatever we say here, stays here. Sebnem is very nervous, she drinks some water. She sighs, Elif is in trouble.
What do you mean, Tayyar asks. Sebnem says there’s some kind of criminal organization that keeps threatening her and she had to get involved in some illegal activities. Tayyar responds, that’s impossible. What kind of business is it? Kara para, Sebnem replies, laundering dirty money. Her company is involved in it. Tayyar acts shocked but he’s likely shocked that Sebnem knows all this. She’ll rot in jail, he says. That’s why she came to me, she says, she wanted to surrender. She risked being in prison for 10 years. Tayyar is worried.
Pelo and Arda argue about getting involved in Omer and Elif’s relationship. Arda tells her, why don’t you find someone for yourself instead. She says, you keep talking about it until you find someone. If you accept, he says, I won’t be single anymore.
Fatih meets Tayyar and says he convinced Elif and gave her a ticket. You’re over confident, Tayyar answers, why did she just take it? I forced her, Fatih says. Don’t be so sure, Tayyar replies, Elif wanted to give herself up. A lawyer completed the necessary procedures. She went to the police department, but something happened and Elif changed her mind about surrendering. Then the documents disappeared. I have a bad feeling that something will happen and I’m sure it’s something with Omer. She must have told him about this. We need to know what they’re planning.
Faith says he’ll handle it. Tayyar says he can’t do it alone. He will be a partner. He gives Fatih a bug to plant near Elif. It will run for 2 days. Omer might be watching her, so don’t get caught. Fatih says he’ll get the job done. We will know if Elif is planning with Omer and we’ll stop it.
Pelo and Arda’s plan: They start arguing as Omer arrives. Arda says he’s moving into a new place and it’s too expensive to call a painter. I’m getting divorced. I’m trying to cut down on expenses. Omer says we will help, and it will work out. Pelo says she told Arda the same thing. But Arda likes to complain. Omer says they are helping and that’s that.
Omer mentions Pinar, Tayyar’s girlfriend. We need to find her.
Elif works on the Fall collection. She flashes back to the morning after in the hotel room. Omer smiles at her. She smiles at the thought then she gets sad and starts drawing again.
Arda cautions Omer. Just talking about Tayyar will get them in big trouble. He’s a famous philanthropist and you’re connecting him to a murder. No one will believe us! Omer says Tayyar is not as innocent as he seems. He lied to me. He’s hiding something about Pinar. I agree with Huseyin, Arda says, your feelings will get us in big trouble one day. Omer is certain, he’s never been wrong.
You have no evidence, Arda points out. Why don’t you ask Elif? Omer says that Elif won’t say anything bad about Tayyar. Elif is smart, Arda replies, if there was something wrong, she would have seen it. Omer says, if you love someone completely, you don’t see things clearly. Sometimes you choose not to notice. She didn’t see her father was involved in crimes. She didn’t see that Taner and Asli were hiding things from her. She loves blindly. Why do you care about Tayyar’s reputation? Taner was killed in prison. Pinar is missing. Maybe Tayyar found out about them.
Pelo comes in—I found Pinar’s mother’s address. Let’s go. Ali walks in and asks where are you going? Arda starts to speak but Omer speaks over him. We’re going out for lunch. Ali asks, what happened to the Denizer file? You were going to finish it. It’s not on my desk. Arda says he’s writing it. I asked for something from the DA. When it arrives, I’ll attach it and put it on your desk.
Our guys walk out. Omer says he doesn’t trust Ali. But he’s our chief, Arda exclaims. We can’t hide information from him. We can, Omer replies, until we know for sure. Some people are trying to close this case and tamper with evidence. If it’s not us, then there’s one guy left. Remember he tried to send me to Van at the beginning of the case? Now he’s trying to close it. Why the hurry? Please don’t share any info with him.
Nilufer and Mert play tennis. She goes to take a shower. Guess who’s in the locker room? Fatih grabs her and kisses her. You’ll give me a heart attack one day, she says. And your beauty is going to kill me, he replies. Another kiss. She says, I miss you so much. Fatih doesn’t think so since she’s having fun with Mert. Nilu says she can’t see anyone else and Mert is just a friend. Fatih is very jealous of her ex-boyfriend. She assures him there’s nothing between her and Mert. He says remember the fire and gunpowder story. I’m watching. If he makes a mistake, it will be his downfall.
Fatih asks a favor. He takes out the bug. If you don’t want Elif to have me arrested, put this in her bag. Please, I need to know about her plans. Nilu is reluctant to do anything that will hurt her sister. You would understand if you had a sibling.
Fatih answers, I do have one… a half-brother. He doesn’t know me. There’s one thing I’ve learned. What a relative does to a relative, a scorpion doesn’t do to a scorpion. Nobody can protect you more than yourself. You will always be between me and Elif. Make a choice. Wouldn’t you be sorry if I was sent to prison because of Elif?
Pinar’s mom says Tayyar is their benefactor. Pinar went to school through his foundation. I was alone and had no money. Omer asks, you’ve known Tayyar for a long time? Yes, mom says, they’ve been together since her last year of college. Omer sees a photo of Pinar and Tayyar. I wish they would get married and give me a grandchild, mom says. He takes care of us very well. God bless him.
Omer says he’s concerned about Pinar. Nobody has seen her for a while. Have you been in contact with her? Yes, mom replies, she called me and told me to leave the house immediately. She told me to go to my sister or my hometown. I didn’t understand why. I was scared. Anyway, Tayyar came later, and he insisted on me staying here.
Pelo asks mom if she’s talked to Pinar since then. She didn’t call for 2 days, mom says, but she called this morning. She understood her mistake and went back to her husband. Mom says she considers her daughter married to Tayyar. They’ve been together for so long. They are fine now. That’s all our guys need to know.
Nilu goes to Denizer Holding and plants the bug in Elif’s bag. Then she leaves.
Next stop for our guys is Tayyar’s house. Arda doesn’t want to go in. Omer asks if he still thinks Tayyar is innocent. Arda says yes. It was just a couple’s spat. Pinar left and came back to him. Omer is annoyed. He tells Pelo to go paint with Arda and he’ll come later. Pelo wants to go with Omer. Omer insists she go with Arda. Arda asks Omer, why don’t you ever listen to me?
Omer knocks at the gate and asks to speak with Pinar. The guard gets a woman who asks, is she expecting you? She’s not, he replies, but if you say it’s Omer Demir, she will see me. The woman says unfortunately Pinar is not well and is resting. Better you should call and come another time. Omer mentions they were childhood friends from the same school. I’m sure she will want to see me. The woman says Pinar doesn’t want to be disturbed.
Nilu arrives and sees Omer there. She asks, did Elif refuse to see you? Omer asks Mert for a minute with Nilu. She asks, will you interrogate me by the front door? He asks her about Pinar. How is she? Cold and distant as always, Nilu answers, she doesn’t leave her room. Why do you ask?
Never mind, Omer replies, I need a favor. Tell her that I called for her. She has my number. Tell her to call me. Nilu says okay. Nilu asks about Elif. Omer says, I’m sure she’s okay. We don’t see each other. Does she also lie to you, Nilu asks, you found out that she’s a liar and that’s why you don’t see her. You understood before it was too late.
Omer answers, yes, she lied to me. Do you know why? To save your life. I forgive her because she is the most real person I’ve ever met. Honest inside and out. Stop being unfair to your sister. Maybe it makes you feel good when you blame others for your own mistakes. Don’t be afraid, face your mistakes. Support Elif. Omer leaves.
Nilu goes to see Pinar and tells her Omer wants her to call him. He’s that officer, Elif’s friend. Pinar nods.
Pelin comes to Denizer holding with a nice bouquet of flowers for Elif’s new office. Pelo can’t stay long. Arda rented a new place. He went to buy paint. I’m going to help him. The divorce case continues, and he has financial problems. I also want to help by buying a few things for him. Pelo gets up to go. Elif thanks her for coming. She asks Pelo if Omer is coming to Arda’s. Pelo says she didn’t call Omer. Elif says then she will join them because Arda always comes when I need help. Great!
Omer comes to Denizer Holding. He speaks with Bahar. You said we are from the same class so we should support each other. That’s why I came. They go to her office. I need to ask you about Tayyar Dundar. What is he like? Bahar says, he’s a good man. He helps everyone. Elif is his favorite. He came from Adana many years ago. He tried to get away from that culture and he succeeded. He tries to be a member of high society. He seems to be a little too charitable.
What about his connection with Ahmet Denizer, Omer asks. You’ve worked here for a long time. Did they ever work together? They are in completely different businesses, Bahar replies, why would they work together? Omer asks, were they friends? Did they see each other often? They did, Bahar answers, they played golf every weekend. And they went fishing. They were very close.
Omer asks, how do you feel about Tayyar? I don’t know, Bahar replies, I’ve never really thought about it. Omer thanks her and says that’s it. She’s surprised. Before he leaves, she says, I heard you broke up with Elif. Omer is unpleasantly surprised and asks, did Elif tell you? Bahar approaches Omer—so you left her?
Omer puts his hand on the door handle and Bahar puts her hand on his arm—you did the right thing. You two don’t suit each other. It wouldn’t have lasted. [is she flirting with him?] I’m enjoying this conversation with you. I can tell you everything you want to know about the Denizer family. Omer removes her hand with a thank you. He leaves. Smug smile from Bahar.
And we are out.
Great summary, Dondi! I jumped the gun by mentioning in episode 44 the bug that Nilufer planted in this episode (45). I saw the handbag in one scene and thought the bug had already been planted. My bad! These things will happen as so many of us have seen this dizi and/or have gone ahead! I’ve caught myself with other potential spoilers. This one slipped in, but it’s only one episode early, so not much harm unless a reader is confused!
Thanks again!
Babachita
Thanks Dondi! Your recap is fantastic as always!
There was a lot of development in this episode - interesting that Bahar wants to flirt with Omer... she really is that jealous of Elif! And Nilu is that blinded by Fatih, but I still feel bad for Nilu because she seems to be neglected by her family in every way - she's not unloved but she's certainly ignored. She was the perfect mark for Fatih's manipulation so I can't blame really her.
This episode brings up all sorts of questions about Sebnem since we learned that she grew up in Tayyar's foundation! Since we've learned that the foundation is only a front for making girls carriers in the money laundering business it begs several questions... 1. Was Sebnem forced into shady business when she was in schooling? 2. Does she know Tayyar was behind it? 3. How could these girls NOT know that Tayyar was behind it? She seems to still trust Tayyar now but it's intriguing...
So, Sami doesn't want Omer to forget Elif completely, just back burner it... that's a more reasonable request but still a lot to ask. As far as set ups go, asking the rich girl to help paint the new apartment is a little ridiculous, but I like the friendship between Elif and Arda and Pelin and find it endearing that she would want to help.
The recap for Episode 46 will be up sometime tomorrow. I've already watched but haven't written it yet. There's one scene in that episode that I'm guessing is a bad translation.... at least I'm hoping it's a bad translation, because the dialogue in Spanish is a little ridiculous. Maybe you can tell us, Dondi, after I post if it's too far off. I'll let you know which one it is. Or maybe I'll see if I can find the Turkish verison of the episode with English subtitles to compare this afternoon before I start writing.
Thanks for your comments Babachita and Darcy.
I also worry about giving spoilers, especially since I’m watching full Turkish episodes. I have to be careful where to begin and end. Small things like the bug really don’t matter, it’s more important not to reveal big twists beforehand.
Darcy, I think Tayyar helps these young women and calls in a “favor” when he needs it. I would think that these girls don’t share their illegal activities with others. Tayyar is very smart in suppressing his involvement.
As for helping Arda, Elif isn’t a snob. I think she truly values a friendship with Arda and Pelo and something as simple as painting an apartment is a welcome distraction from her troubles.
Engin and Aslı Enver’s Netflix dizi “Old Money” is now available on Netflix. Eight episodes under 1 hour. It’s already made the top ten in a few countries.
Yeah, Elif is definitely not snobby. I was thinking it was silly more because someone with Elif's background probably never did something like painting not because she wouldn't be willing to help. They pretty much played it like she had some painting ability or picked it up quickly but in the real world I don't know how practical that would be. But maybe I'm overthinking it. I think it takes at least a little bit of skill to get a wall painted evenly without streaks.
Some dude from Tayyar’s foundation comes to visit Hatice to offer her a scholarship to study and she thinks it’s her lucky day but we all know this is not quite her winning lottery ticket. Fatma has her suspicions too but keeps mum of course.
Omer arrives to Arda, Elif and Pelin’s painting party – what a surprise! Lol They start off with an awkward greeting and Elif offers to leave thinking her absence will make things easier but Omer stops her wanting to talk. Arda and Pelin quickly leave them alone to talk and Elif is quick to call Omer out on the fact that despite him always telling her that they need to be apart, he follows her everywhere she goes! He needs to make a choice here! Omer demurs and says that this isn’t the only reason, he says he really wants her to stay. Long lingering looks between them and Omer continues. Arda and Pelin want you to stay too, you’ve become their friend. I don’t want that to fall apart because of me. Elif reminds Omer that they worked really hard to convince Metin that they aren’t seeing each other anymore and that’s what Sami wants too, Omer acknowledges that it’s true. Elif says she’s really tired and she just wants this operation, this nightmare to be over. And as the camera zooms in on Elif’s bag we are reminded the we have an electronic audience! Omer goes on to say not to worry because he hasn’t even told his brother and if they don’t make any mistakes, no one will know they are there – besides if that bastard followed Elif it could be worse if Elif leaves, and Arda might be offended too! Omer is laying it on thick now, and the camera pans out to first a van and then Metin/Fatih shows us that there’s not just one but two men listening in one this wire! Elif agrees to stay and Omer is all smiles; she smiles back and suddenly they are all teasing and flirting…
Fatih wishes Omer and Elif luck with the painting as he calls up Uncle Tayyar to tell him he has news for him. Where is he? Okay, he’ll be there in 30 mins. But it looks like Fatih’s new home is close enough to Uncle Tayyar’s to see into his backyard because before Fatih can move to do anything else he sees Nilufer and Mert out by the pool and he watches through his binoculars as Mert rubs sunscreen on Nilufer’s back. Fatih does NOT look pleased! Meanwhile Nilufer actually seems to be enjoying Mert’s company for a change as she laughs and jokes with him about being an old man and the two play by the pool.
The painting party continues and Omer is instructing Elif on painting. Elif thinks he is too particular and Arda will never move in at his pace. She says the challenge is to make it beautiful quickly. Omer goes to help her reach high and places his hand over hers. They get very close and almost kiss. Long lingeringly looks ensue. Meanwhile, Arda and Pelo continue to fight and there’s plenty of longing looks from Arda to Pelo but she doesn’t notice.
Nilufer goes into her room calling over her shoulder that she’ll be back in 15 mins and to prepare the DVDs in the meantime, but she doesn’t know she has a visitor. She turns surprised to see Fatih and she’s at first pleased though concerned because Tayyar will have him arrested if he finds him there, but her pleasure is short lived because Fatih is not happy and he’s very aggressive. He’s told her to stay away from that man! How can she let him touch her? He grabs her roughly by the hair and she cries that he’s hurting her but he says she’s hurting him more. He throws her on the bed and lays on top on her. You’re mine, he declares. Your skin is mine, only mine! You belong only to me, even more than you belong to yourself, do you understand? A crying Nilufer nods and Fatih kisses her roughly before leaving. He escapes out the back telling the guard there not to tell the boss and by the time he gets back to his own home we see that Fatih himself is trembling and crying from this encounter.
Arda and Omer are talking about how nice the house has turned out and Omer can’t stop starring at Elif. Arda comments on it and Omer says he’s tried to stay away but Arda and Pelin happened. Arda says oh please, you wouldn’t have stayed away anyways, you’re in love. Omer says to come closer. Closer, that’s right. Yep, I’m looking in a mirror!!! You’re in love too! Arda tries to shush Omer but Omer says he should admit it the same as he did. Arda doesn’t think it’s the same but Omer quotes a poet who says ‘how do you know that your life wouldn’t be better turned upside down?’ Omer says he tried it, and he doesn’t regret it, it’s time for Arda to try it! Omer walks off and Arda looks in the window at Pelin.
Omer goes into the kitchen to flirt more with Elif who is cooking pasta. Omer teases her about whether or not it will be editable but Elif is very confident that it will be delicious. Their teasing takes a more serious tone when Elif shares that her mom used to eat very little to stay slim and lecture her when she would each too much that she was going to put on weight ‘again’? She also shares she’s worried about forgetting her parent’s voices and she wonders if Omer can remember his dads. He says he can, and the pain that followed. Their heart to heart is broken up by more fighting from Arda and Pelin. They can’t decide on what surface to eat dinner and it takes all four adults to get a makeshift dinner table together and stop the bickering. Everyone agrees the pasta is good.
Fatih arrives to see ‘Uncle’ Tayyar and he’s tending to a bird. He’s apparently genuinely trying to heal it but it’s still creepy and judging by the look on Fatih’s face, I’m not the only one who thinks so. Tayyar rattles off some nonsense about how all humans are jealous of birds because they can fly and we want to which undoubtably has some double meaning/threat behind it but they are interrupted by some thug arriving with passports with Nilufer and Mert. It seems Tio Tayyar is sending them on Holiday before school starts and this pisses Fatih off so he doesn’t tell Tayyar the big news about Elif – instead he tells him some BS about a new car arriving. I’m still wondering who the guy in the van was who was also listening to the wire and what he did or didn’t tell Tayyar…
Back to the winding down painting party and Elif is now going, Omer offers her a ride but she has her car. Arda says they will have a party once he’s settled and there’s an awkward pause but Omer’s phone rings and it’s broken up. Pelin walks Elif out and Omer answers. Pinar is calling Omer and she gives him a short but sweet update. She’s totally fine, she had a little spat with Tayyar but they made up and now she’s back home, nothing’s wrong. Omer says good to hear, say hi to your mother! They hang up quickly and we see Tayyar is listening in to every word!!! Well done, he congratulates her! You deserve to come to the foundation’s brunch tomorrow!
On Omer’s side of the call, Arda and Pelin are waiting and we find out that Omer bought none of Pinar’s lies! He’s sure Tayyar was listening in to that conversation. He’s determined to find out the truth and he tells Pelin to get on it, she agrees! Huseyn arrives with some drinks and joins the party! Everyone is happy to see him except Omer it seems, but when Huseyn calls him on it, Omer denies it. Pelin fills Huseyn in on their suspicions that Tayyar killed Taner and he seems alarmed but says nothing.
Later, Omer is still distance with Huseyn but Huseyn tries to break through. He starts talking to Omer about how he clung to him when he was a kid and how he looked up to him. He misses his younger brother, he knows working together has been hard but he doesn’t want this to come between them. Omer says Huseyn is like a father to him and he will always love him but he’s not the six-year-old Omer anymore, he’s a grown man! Huseyn knows, the brothers hug and reconcile.
Elif is home and has Julia back with her and that’s the only good news because she also has bad company, Bahar arrives – she’s decided to move in and keep Elif company until her sisters come back. Elif tells her that she is her sister too, the sister that she chooses. Bahar mentions that Omer came by the office that day to chat with her. Isn’t that strange? They don’t even like each other. Elif seems momentarily bothered by it but shakes it off and shows Bahar to her room.
Omer and Arda are alone drinking at a table outside and Arda comments how strange it is that Omer isn’t playing with his lighter. Whenever Omer is happy with Elif he’s happy, he should just go hold her hand. Omer admits Elif has always had a hold on him, she just doesn’t know it. He can’t tell her right now, if he breaks a certain promise, it will be bad for her. Arda wants to know what Omer means but before Omer can answer Pelin calls to them from inside.
Pelin has found all the tea about Pinar. That was fast!!! She has all the details of Pinar’s near boat death and rescue and next thing we know Omer is telling Sami all about it. But Sami points out that Omer’s theories about Tayyar killing Taner and trying to kill Pinar is just that a theory. Omer reminds Sami that Taner told him before he died that he could tell him the name of a dangerous man who was the owner of these diamonds. Sami says Omer can’t accuse a man like Tayyar without proof, it’ll be bad for his career, his reputation. Omer is frustrated but Sami says there’s more than one way to go about this. You have to follow invisible clues too, get in his head. Provoke him? Omer says. Psychological warfare? You want me to go mess with his mind, make him go after me and then we trap him? Now you got it, Sami declares. Omer likes this. He will lure him in and then just wait he won’t understand what’s going on. He’ll try to destroy me but it’ll be a mistake and that’s when I’ll make my move.
(Okay, so this is the scene I was thinking was a bad translation – I watched it in Turkish too but the captions were in and out so it didn’t help much and then I watched the English dubbed version and it said the same as the Spanish version so….I don’t know, maybe it’s just a childish argument after all this buildup but here we go) Pelin and Arda are still working though everyone else has left and Pelin is saying how the plan has backfired because they just wanted to help Omer and Elif but now her back is killing her! Arda tells her to stop complaining(?!) Pelin is like hey, I’m a cop not a painter and Arda says, it’s her fault she asked for it! Pelin says WHAT! (Which is what I want to say because I’ve been somewhat routing for the guy, but this man has no game) Arda starts mocking how Pelin agreed to this because Aunt Elvan wanted her to and only stops this bad idea to then laugh at Pelin because she has paint on her noise – he makes a bad clown joke that Pelin couldn’t have possibly have understood because she doesn’t see her face and then licks his finger and rubs it her nose (ew) and when she asks him what he’s doing, he tells her that’s she was ugly! And she’s uglier now???? (WHAT?) She tells him he’s the one that is ugly and really annoying and he retorts with she’s both ugly and annoying and THEN kisses her!!!! Pelin lets him kiss her and then looks up just shocked and bewildered as the paint brush falls from her hand.
Tayyar’s banquet for those unfortunate enough to know him is starting and Elif arrives with Bahar. Fatma and Hatice arrive as well. Sebnem is there as well and makes her way to Elif’s table and Elif learns that her attorney was a former recipient of one of Uncle Tayyar’s scholarship’s, she thinks this is wonderful.
Omer arrives and Tayyar greets him, he assumes Omer is there as Elif’s guest. They shake hands and he tells him to make himself at home.
‘Tayyar Dundar,’ Omer greets in return, ‘You can try to fool everyone but you can’t convince me. I know that you are a cold-blooded murderer hiding behind the mask of a respectable business man.’
‘What are you saying, Omer, what kind of accusation is that?’
‘It’s not an accusation,’ Omer continues, ‘I know very well how you had Taner killed and I know how you left Pinar to die in the middle of the ocean.’ ‘And there it is,’ Omer declares with a smirk as he draws close to Tayyar’s ear and whispers. ‘I see through it; I see through that smile of yours. This glamourous world, your airs and graces, Tayyar Dundar, I will prove you’re a murderer, I’ll put the cuffs on you myself. You’ll soon see this was the beginning, the beginning of the end, and Omer Demir was the one who finished you.
And that's episode 46! I loved the confrontation with Omer and Tayyar at the end and I was very disappointed in the scene with Arda and Pelin. I guess with the way they've been bickering nonstop it fits, but I was hoping for something better - this whole show is so well written and that was just...blah.
I mean Arda was so ungrateful in that scene. Belin literally spent all day cleaning and painting his new apartment and her back hurt. Who would tell anyone who spent all day helping them to stop complaining that they brought it on themselves in that scenario? Let alone the woman he's supposedly in love with? Then he tells her she's ugly??? He sounded like an 8th grade boy on a playground not a grown man. I would have liked to see some sweetness and I'm sure Pelin would've too, but then she stuck around all day, and she puts up with him despite his attitude so I'm guessing she has feelings for him too, she certainly looked dazed from that kissed. She definitely didn't look ugly!
I agree, Darcy, that Arda’s behavior was juvenile. IIRC in the past, Arda was good counsel for Omer, speaking wisely, almost philosophically. Here, he was very insulting. Maybe something is going on that we don't know about? Maybe this was brought on by her earlier comment about not wanting kids or marriage or something like that. Her playing hard-to-get may have hit its mark. Maybe he wants her to want what he wants. They seem a good match, so I hope they fix this soon. The kiss might help, but was badly timed after all the rude comments.
The interchange between Omer and Tayyar was powerful. It rattled Tayyar for sure, poking the big bear!
Tayyar is kind to the wounded bird but cruel to Fatih. The look in Fatih’s face watching his father being kind was full of anger and fear.
Fatih was equally scary with Nilufer. Of course, his fury was provoked by Tayyar through Mert, but his aggressive handling of Nilufer was disturbing.
Thank you for the summary, Darcy!
Babachita
Thanks, Darcy. Your recap covered it all.
The translation of Arda and Pelin’s argument is reasonably accurate. He said, My God, the ugly one just got uglier. She answered, you are ugly, Arda. You are also annoying (gıcık).
So the word “ugly” (çirkin) was used by both. Perhaps “ugly” could be up for interpretation here, as it can also refer to behavior. Complaining is not very attractive. He let her know she wouldn’t be there if it wasn’t for promising Elvan she would help Omer and Elif. I wouldn’t worry so much, it led to a kiss. But Arda definitely lacks skills when it comes to wooing a lady.

Omer and Tayyar at the end is a great scene. Omer says he’s never wrong but he’s blind when it comes to loved ones. Wait until Huseyin’s ish hits the fan.
I'm still watching and really appreciate the recaps to fill in the holes that I miss. (I totally spaced out that 2 people listened in on the Elif, Omer conversations ).Many thanks to you all, Dondi, Darcy and Babachita.
