I had really enjoyed the first Papas and was looking forward to this one, but the scenes are cut to be so extremely brief that they just fly by before they can sink in. It’s not fun! It’s like an hour-long scramble to tell the story as fast as possible. I wish they’d cut the long title sequence and give us more developed scenes.

"AMANECER"
OMG: Whacky Atocha's reign of terror continues!

Amanecer

I watched this show until right before the wedding and then quit. But I recorded all the episodes. Wondering if it got better and is worth watching. If you watched it all, what’s your opinion?

PAPÁS

Maggie, interesting comment about the pacing and I agree. After last night, I am just feeling sorry for Aidé as if she doesn’t have enough on her hands already and then to be pressured to care for one more child and his invalid mother. I was happy to see her strongly refuse but wonder if that refusal will be able to hold up over time and pressure. After Monteverde starts, I do not know if I will have time to watch this.

The opening scene where Manuel walks in on Father Salvador and Carolina embracing was powerful! You can tell that their ancient romance is still sizzling. Manuel calms down when he sees that Salvador is a priest, but his initial reaction was spot on. Manuel is such a great guy. What will happen when he gets the whole story? He and Carolina were devoted to one another throughout the episode which suggests to me that the writers will have him find out pretty soon.

Tamara is so awful, but her acting makes me laugh at times. The actress must be having fun.
Where is the red dress?

Father S is looking at the right orphanage. Was Mother Superior purposefully keeping Cristina’s file from him? I got the feeling she was surprised when he told her he was looking for his own daughter. Did Carolina previously ask her to keep Cristina a secret? Will this change now that she knows that the Father is the father?

Is Omar in love with Romina yet? That romance seems very one-sided. I wonder if he will ever get over sheepishly doing what Ramiro tells him to do and start thinking for himself.

Thank you so much Babachita for your comments. They really help clarify some of the conversation that I miss due to my limited understanding of Spanish. I really like this TN.

You are correct Tamara is an awful person, but she does add spice to the story. I still don't understand her relationship with Leonardo? She seems not to like him, but always ends up in bed with him.

Amanecer
Liz, I've just finished watching the show and I wouldn't say I'd want to see it again.I kept thinking what Alva would be diagnozed with.Stockholm syndrome? I'd describe this show as weird and crazy. I think the entire show felt like some episodes of el amor no tiene receta. Alva along with that bestie of hers both drove me nuts-Alva just because she's Alva and the bestie because her way of speaking irritated me.
If you like watching shows with a lot of weird stuff and female protagsthat make you want to sign up for a psychology course just to find outwth is wrong with them, shows with over-the-top antagonists- give it a go. Though to be frank they could have done more with Leonel-changes in his character were so abrupt and he definitely is a control freak in some instances.

I too was wondering about the file, or files, the nun set aside. Was she so sure it couldn’t be his daughter? Maybe the man from the house where she was left brought her in and just said he couldn’t care for her and never mentioned she wasn’t his. I don’t remember if we had a background on this. But I’ve always wondered what would happen if/when Carolina found her daughter. She was going to have to explain it to Manuel anyway, but now it will be worse with the dad in the picture! And he was pretty clear last night that he still loved Carolina. And Leo put doubts in Manuel’s head about why the “old friend” was never mentioned.

Tamara is evil. Will Carlos or Carolina ever see that devious smile she gets pretty often! In addition to Christina she also hurt Carolina by hiding the dress. I hope she hid it and didn’t destroy it.

Amancer

Thanks for your input, Waterlily. I put the show on hold partly because it came on at 10:00 pm. But mostly I thought it was pretty weird and already had a couple of killings. I thought there might be a slight hope of it getting better. Plus two of my favorites are in it, Daniel Elbittar and Lucia Brito.

Papas

I think some scenes last night lasted a minute! Crazy!

Tino’s dad must think they have money. How can they take on two extra people and take care of one of them! They don’t know what to do about their youngest son and they’re asking their kids to move to public schools. And now the car was stolen. Hope their luck changes!
