Juan David and Angelina thank Sister Celeste as she helps the good padre up from the couch.
At the reception, Juanita and Hugo are happily dancing as Gloria and Manuel cut in. Erika is keeping Moises and Andres company at their table; always curious Moises asks Erika if she has a novio! The answer is no.
Manuel clinks his glass and gives a sweet speech to the glowing couple. Everyone toasts to their happiness as bride and groom take a sip from their glasses as they profess their love for and to each other.
Cárcamo and Gloria welcome the newlyweds to “Doris’ place”! She presents them with their key as they ascend the stairs. Hugo effortlessly carries Juanita over the threshold. The romantic setting reveals rose petals on the floor and in a heart shape on the bed. They kiss deeply and passionately. Let the honeymoon begin!
Celeste spoon feeds Father Gabriel some soup. They talk about Oscar and Carolina but exactly what they say eludes me.
Oscar strides through the bus terminal, a man on a mission, with a smile on his face.
The next morning Juanita and Hugo wake up. She looks like a cat who has supped cream as she stretches luxuriously. She is the happiest woman she tells him as they kiss.
Oscar calls Lucas. How was the wedding? Good is the answer but it almost didn’t happen he states as he tells the story. Is the father all right Oscar asks worriedly. Yes. And you, he asks Oscar? Fine he effuses. Oscar tells him again to watch the boys.
Rosalia tells Father Gabriel he is doing well. He wants to go home but he is going to stay where he is. Juan David rearranges his pillows as he is told Rosalia left strict instructions (I think).
Oscar alights from a taxi and opens the convent door. He sees Carolina and calls her on the phone. How are you she smilingly asks; fine he says. Are you busy he asks as he watches her across the corridor. I’m not in Monteverde he teases her. Zacatillo she guesses as they play where in the world is Oscar Leon. 😊 She looks around as Oscar tells her she is getting warmer, warmer. She sees him and they rush toward each other as he drops his bag, hugging each other tightly. He wanted to surprise her and indeed he has! Madra Gustava and cool nun surprise them and the madre greets him warmly.
Father, still in bed, finishes a breakfast of eggs and toast.
Diana
Carolina and Oscar kiss again amidst stares from one of the residents. Oscar admits his love as she sweetly peppers his face with kisses. She returns the sentiments as a few of the nuns walk by giggling. That does nothing to dampen their enthusiasm as they kiss again. She says something I didn’t understand that made him smile a huge smile.
The happy couple return to Manuel’s the next morning.
Juan David and Angelina are talking with a crowd about his presidential campaign but are upstaged by Cárcamo and Doris who are on a bus hawking Cárcamo for the job.
Carolina goes through her clothes.
Moises and Andres are playing by a fountain when Corina walks up, bidding hello. Moises stares are her as she puts out her hand. When he asks if Erika OK’d this, she lies and says yes, after all she is his abuela! Andres rushes up and Moises introduces them but she quickly takes Moises hand and rushes him off.
Cool nun comes in and sees Carolina dressed in Celeste’s habit. She asks her what she is doing and asks her not to lie to her. She tells Carolina that her novio met an untimely death and seems to understand Carolina’s plight. Muchas gracias Carolina effuses, shaking her hand.
Carolina calls Oscar.
Andres makes a beeline, running up to Lucas and Erika. Moises went with the senora; they are going to Zacatillo he tells them excitedly.
Carolina walks down the convent hall with her bag and hurries past several nuns. She ends up at the fence and throws her bag over it hitting Oscar in the head. She scales the fence and as Oscar helps her down he puts his hand on her face as they hurry off.
Juan David and Angelina tell Father Gabriel about Cárcamo and Doris’ latest venture. Father Gabriel seems to have an idea. Angelina records Juan David as he gives a speech the good padre has written. Father Gabriel seems on edge and anxious; he is not exactly resting and avoiding stress is he?
Diana
Corina and Moises are at the fence at Oscar’s ready to get away when Lucas and Erika catch up with them. Lucas tells Corina off as Erika angrily asks what she is doing. She tells her mother that if she shows up again she is going to call the police! Lucas tells Augustin to accompany Corina off the property. Don’t touch me she tells Lucas indignantly.
Erika thanks Andres for alerting them. Lucas looks grave as Eriks tells Moises that her mother is not a good person. Lucas chimes in that he needs to listen to his mother.
Carolina, still in her habit and Oscar visit a café. She makes a quick trip to the women’s room, returning in a pretty, short, flowered dress which does not go unnoticed by the patrons or the server. Oscar and Carolina realize their mistake and quickly leave as everyone stares.
Doris and Cárcamo’s campaign bus is causing quite a stir. Although Juanita and Hugo are enjoying the music, Doris comes out being her usual discouraging self.
Carolina and Oscar are out on the street kissing. Does anyone think this is a good idea?
Lucia and Rosalia are at the doctors. I can’t tell what is being said other than something about reconstruction but from the expressions on the doctor and Rosalia’s face, it doesn’t seem to be good news.
Oh noes! Carolina’s lawyer knocks on her door but there is no answer. The bed sheets are pulled back to reveal Carolina has flown the coop! Cool nun tells her Carolina isn’t there! The lawyer can’t believe it! Cool nun begs her not to tell Madre Gustava as there will be a scene and the police will get involved. The lawyer says she better be back tomorrow. After she walks off, cool nun looks heavenward saying she did it for love.
Oscar and Carolina are strolling along, taking in the sights, hand in hand, kissing…Oscar asks Carolina to be his novia and she accepts. They eat cotton candy and Oscar buys her a single red rose with a bit of baby’s breath. They see policemen and scurry away. Oscar takes selfies as they both smile into the camera.
The women at the inn are playing cards when they get notifications on their phones, about Juan David, I think.
Erika tells Lucas she is very worried about Moises since her mother showed up. I think she wants Moises with her (?) The boys magically show up, Moises pleading his case.
In the last scene, Oscar and Carolina enjoy some café time. He is concerned about Moises and Oscar at the ranch. I have a sinking feeling Carolina suggests she go back to Monteverde with him. Did I get that right??
I was happy Corina’s plans were thwarted so quickly! I am sure she will not slink away though, tail between her legs.
Whatever are Oscar and Carolina thinking?? Oh wait, they aren’t!
I know I missed things but did the best I could. I thank Jarifa in advance for her sure to be marvelous extras!
While I can’t shovel, I will be up and out early trying to help out as best I can with the over 30 inches of snow we received. ☹ Hope everyone stayed safe and warm…
Diana
That was a frustrating episode. The boys are sitting ducks just waiting for an abduction, be it Carlos, Padilla, Sara or abuela? And now Erika wants to have them stay with her at the posada. Carolina is totally messing up and she deserves to be sent back to jail. Oscar is no better aiding her. Does he realize she is on house arrest. And now she plans to return to Monteverde.
Juan David's campaign is being built around text messages. I guess everyone had each other's phone numbers already. Some of the posada women are about to vote for someone else because they are being inundated with messages.
Good luck with the snow. I grew up in upstate New York and Northern Jersey and my husband was stationed in Boston 2 years so big snows were common.
Kat, both Carolina and Oscar seem to have taken leave of their senses. Bad enough Carolina was out and about, but to actually want to return to Monteverde?? Moises and Andres safety should be uppermost in their minds. Whatever is wrong with them? I'm speechless.
Going to be a long day here, thanks for the good wishes!
Diana
Clara , my tv schedule lists the show from 7 to 830 tonight (Tuesday ). I guess we have to wait and see. Susan
Thank you Diana!
The title of the episode should have been "they play where in the world is Oscar Leon. 😊 "
Celeste tells Juan David and Angelina to get going to the wedding before everyone finishes off the food!
Another Strauss waltz!
At the wedding Moisés asks his mother if she has a novio. She days no. He tells her that maybe she should find one because since women have arrived in town, there are weddings all the time! Andrés agrees and she has to laugh.
The good father tells Celeste that his blood pressure fell due to stress and that tomorrow he will be as fresh as a head of lettuce! He also remarks that he thinks it is sort of strange that Oscar would miss the wedding to go to a cattle fair. He adds that Oscar has been sort of strange period. She thinks it has to do with him having gotten back together with her sister so now he is in a better mood than before. They both agree that he probably went to Mexico City to see Carolina.
The good father's blood pressure is still a bit low so Rosalía tells him he has three days of bed rest. He wants to go home but is overruled by Juan David and Angelina who will continue to care for him in their home. He reluctantly agrees as long as he isn't a burden for them like you know who (Gloria). The good father is hungry and Juan David says he will get him a scrambled egg, toast and coffee. The good father is wondering if he couldn't have something more substantial like longaniza (spicy pork sausage) with the eggs, refried beans, fresh made by hand salsa and a bolillo (sandwich sized) bread roll with some butter. Angelina reminds him that Rosalía said he should have a bland diet. He reluctantly agrees and tells them they need to hurry up because while he is having breakfast, he wants to discuss some campaign ideas he has for Juan David.
The good father suggests to Juan David that they use cellphones in his campaign. When Angelina says that has been done before, he reminds her that it has never been done in Monteverde. She warns them not to overuse that idea because texts can get to be a real pain. The good father assures her that their messages will be personalized and cordial. Juan David says they don't have everyone's numbers. The good father says with everyone now on their phones, it shouldn't be a big deal getting them. He tells them to go gather numbers while he works on the messaging. The good father adds that it is so comfy at their house that it will be the seat of Juan David's campaign. After they leave the room, Angelina says she hopes that doesn't mean that the good father has no plans of leaving. Juan David looks as concerned as she.
Oscar tells Carolina that he hasn't been 100% honest with her. He thought about forgiving her so many times and although he tried, there was something inside of him that always resisted. The truth is he didn't want to hear anything about her and suddenly that all changed The last time he saw her, he realized that you cannot hate a person that you carry inside your heart and who made you believe in love again. That night he kissed her, he felt his soul return to his body. It was as if Life told him: Hey, Oscar, you can still love! She asks if that means that he forgives her. He doesn't only forgive her but he wants to love her. He wants to feel like his life belongs to her. He loves her like he has never loved anyone before. She kisses him all over her face and says she also loves him. He is the light of her days, the beat gives life to her heart, the love she thought was impossible. She then asks him what are they going to do to take advantage of every moment they are together right now! She just doesn't want to be standing there talking to him. She wants to have him near . . . He gets a goofy smile on his face and asks if she is thinking of escaping . . . She smiles.
Hugo and Juanita are back at work the day after their wedding. Hugo explains to a surprised Manuel that as soon as he saves up some money, he will take Juanita on a honeymoon trip to the beach. Gloria presumes she will be going, too, and says that few days in the sun will do her good. Hugo reminds her that will not be possible since she is going to be the president of Monteverde. How would it look for her to abandon the town and take off on a vacation? It wouldn't say anything good about her. She reluctantly agrees they will have to go alone as they breathe a sigh of relief.
Oscar repeatedly tries to talk Carolina out of sneaking out of the convent. He doesn't care if he has to watch her washing sheets all day long. Carolina refuses to change her mind. It will be like an "express escape." He sees it as something crazy. She smiles and answers that in this life the craziest things are done in the name of love. Life would not have its spark without them.
The good father concludes that now is the time to send out their text message to combat Cárcamo and Doris' efforts. He needs to work on the message to convince people to vote for Juan David.
Lucas tells his ranch hand that he wants Corina not only off the ranch but out of Monteverde. Lucas tells Moisés if he sees his grandmother around he needs to tell them ASAP.
The good father has Juan David's campaign message ready to be recorded and texted to every cell phone user. He has a hard time reading the good father's handwriting and they argue about it. Unfortunately, the recording is continuing as they are arguing, Angelina hits the wrong button and inadvertently sends it out to everyone in Monteverde! They quickly start a new recording.
The doctor tells Lucía that the biopsy shows that she has breast cancer in its beginning stage which means it hasn't spread. Her lymph glands are free of any involvement. They are at a good time to prevent it spreading. She is advising her to have a mastectomy. It could be total or partial depending on what the surgeon finds. The objective is to remove the affected tissue. The doctor says yes, she will lose her breast but it is better than losing her life. Lucía understands but it is very hard to think that she will be losing part of her body. The doctor informs her that once she is healed and they are sure the cancer is eradicated, there will be options for breast reconstruction. The doctor gives her a list or preoperative tests she needs. Once they are done, she will schedule the surgery with her.
One of the women is sick of texts from Juan David and could vote for somebody else because she is annoyed with them!
Erika tells Lucas now that her mother has shown up and Oscar is out of town, she would like to keep an eye on Moisés herself. She would like him to sleep with her at the inn. What does he think? Moisés overhears and begs Lucas to let him go. Lucas looks serious and concerned.
Carolina thanks Oscar for giving her the dose of happiness she needed. He says he has many more doses for her. She wishes time would stop so they never had to part. She asks him to stay another day. She could get out again. He tells her not to tempt him. He has to go back to the ranch. The boys are alone. She agrees. He says if it were up to him, he and she would never be apart. She thinks that would be like a dream. He hopes that dream will come true soon and they can live together in Monteverde. She asks why wait and tells him to take her back with him to Monteverde!
Diana, what a nightmare! We have never had so much snow in a single snow fall here. I think our high was 23 inches decades ago. Take care and stay cozy, safe and warm.
Another entertaining episode. To be honest, Carolina likes the "spark" of life way too much to be safe. Here is hoping that Oscar come to his senses and tells her no way is she coming back to Monteverde. I also thought it was an inopportune time for him to take off for a couple of days considering the recent meeting with Corina. Neither he or Carolina are thinking clearly about their responsibilities: their kids. I also am not sure about Erika yet. I can understand her wanting to have her son with her but would Moisés still not be safer at the ranch. He was almost kidnapped by the witch! I would hope Lucas would tell Erika to stay at the ranch with them. The least Lucas should do is call Oscar and get his direction on whatever he wants with Moisés. Whatever the drama, there was enough humor to keep me laughing through most of this as usual!!
Jarifa, what a splendid treat your summary was! Your amazing dialogue translations breathed such vibrancy and hope into everything that transpired. The shining love Oscar and Carolina share radiated so brightly!
I SO enjoyed learning the eloquent words of love expressed by Oscar and Carolina, particularly: "That night he kissed her, he felt his soul return to his body...He doesn't only forgive her but he wants to love her. He wants to feel like his life belongs to her. He loves her like he has never loved anyone before... She kisses him all over her face and says she also loves him. He is the light of her days, the beat gives life to her heart, the love she thought was impossible". How beautifully romantic!!
That said, both Oscar and Carolina are too enamoured to think clearly! You are exactly right in that "Carolina likes the "spark" of life way too much to be safe". Oscar needs to cool his ardor and face the stone cold truth that Carolina needs to stay where she is! Both are excellent parents but are being waylaid by their emotions instead of rationale.
Jarifa, I agree Moises should stay at the ranch under Lucas' protection. It would be far safer with ranch hands who have and know how to use guns vs. Erika and the women without weapons at the inn. Although I wasn't happy with her turnaround about the job, I do trust Erika and hope it is well placed.
Hugo and Juanita also made the most of every one of their scenes. So incandescently happy.
Love every Father Gabriel scene. I thought he was salivating for a larger and unhealhier meal, the poor guy.
Poor Lucia...I am a bit surprised we haven't seen more of Franco and his baby...I gather Diego is gone for good.
Will Carolina wake up and smell the coffee??? I'm not sure why her lawyer wanted her back at the convent asap but something surely is brewing.
Jarifa, can't wait till Wedneday night when this is back on. Thank you for your glorious insights and oh so generous time!
Diana
Susan, I think we got about 32 plus inches all together. It was a very dangerous storm!
Jarifa, we had a terrible blizzard in '78 here which eclipsed last night's storm but I am hoping this is the last 30 plus inches of snow in one fell swoop I see from here on in!
I've lost many trees and bushes over the year. Sadly, almost half of the (one) beautiful tree in my front yard succumbed to the weight of the snow. So sad! That said, I am grateful not to have lost power. It can always be so much worse.
Diana
Well, last night I had to turn off the episode when the creepy guy was going to give Belinda the drink he put something in . I recorded the rest and fast forwarded through it to see what happened . They didn't show what happened to Belinda nexr, but it seemed like Ximena must have seen the guy with Belinda and got her away from him . Belinda was in the hospital , and Aitana was thanking Ximens for saving Belinda .
I noticed the same guy approached Nuria's sister first , but she was with the kid in charge of the cattle .
Larissa is acting like she cares about Belinda ...she doesnt. Susan
Uh oh . Cattle Boy and Nuria's sister were drinking a lot at the festival , and the next morning Cattle Boy was surprised to find her in his bed when his mom knocked on the door. Evil mom has her hair up and her earrings on and is back at that happy table when Belinda joins the family and starts yelling . Susan
Diana, I remember the blizzard of 78! I think it was also Presidents’ Day. I was in DC. It was bad there, but Buffalo, etc were hammered. That’s been a long time now, but it was very memorable for me, too!
Hope this storm settles down so those of you affected by this get some relief soon!
Babachita
Right Susan, Ximena scared off creepy guy who had drugged Belinda and was dragging her off. Belinda had run away to the fiesta freaking out because Dad finally told her she was adopted. Not only was it kept a secret from her all these years, but the rest of the family has known all along. Why she’s yelling at the end.
Cattle Boy is Gael, Zac’s bro.
Nuria’s sister is Ceci, a free spirit!
Zac and Ximena broke up—she was stunned to learn he doesn’t love her.
Scheduling, we shall see. They always keep us guessing.
Clara
Diana, glad you enjoyed the conversation translations. They were just too good to ignore. It is odd to me that Moisés got as far as he did with Corina knowing how he feels about her. I also, find it interesting that Carolina and everyone else seem to have forgotten about Carlos. Out of sight out of mind? That usually leads to a surprise attack that should not be a surprise at all. Yes, Diego seems to be gone for good. Now with Lucía’s cancer it is probably a good thing for him and Belén.
Unbelievable the property damage you have had to sustain over the years. Wishing you a nice slow thaw!
We have had some bad winters . The one I remember is maybe 1994 or 1995. Our kids missed about 17 days of school . The school added ten minutes to the days at the end of the year to meet the required 180 day requirement. It was a nightmare of a winter. Susan
Jarifa, yes, Carlos seems to be but a forgotten memory, ready to pounce. SO dangerous. I am having withdrawals tonight...
Thank you for the good wishes for an end to winter's harshness!
Babachita, yes, the blizzard of '78 will always live in my mind; mother nature was cruel indeed.
Diana
I am just seeing that Univision's schedule has futbol airing tonight, preempting Monteverde! Looks like Mi verdad oculta is airing at 7 Eastern.
Rats.
Diana
Diana, thanks . MI Verdad was on last night from around 7 to 830.
Hope the snow cleanup is going okay. Just saw a prediction for another storm on Monday . What a winter . Susan
Hi Susan. More snow this morning but I think it's starting to stop. Ack.
"What a winter" is right!!
