MONTEVERDE #68, Part 1 of 4

“Oscar” Carolina says to herself smiling, then says “Oscar” into the phone. At first there is silence; she then says she has been thinking of Moises. Andres told her his mother returned. Oscar tells her Moises is overjoyed. Oscar is clearly worried but Carolina tells him that Moises loves him, he is a marvelous person. He has to hang up as she fears she has offended him. On the contrary he states, and before he ends the conversation he calls her “Carolina” which brings an overjoyed smile to her face.

Lucas and Franco continue their conversation as Lucia listens behind the door which is ajar. It seems Franco is determined to go to Peru to be there for the birth of his baby. Lucia looks sad.

Juan David is answering questions from an official pertaining to the application of Monteverde becoming a municipality.

Lucas comes in as Lucia prepares to leave. She thanks Rosalia saying te quiero mucho.

Moises and Andres greet Oscar. The friends are excited and ready to go and see Carolina.

Franco has a video call with Julieta who is clearly with child. It’s a girl she tells him! He is thrilled. She would like to call her “Mariana”. His dazzling smile is proof positive of how happy he is.

“Mi amor” Diego greets Lucia. How is Rosalia? Good is her short reply. Staring, he asks her how she is. She is clearly cutting him off and out. She won’t tell him what is wrong and simply walks away saying “con permiso”.

Oscar interrupts the boys’ conversation. Oh noes! He is not only allowing them to go see Carolina, he is going with them!

Father Gabriel, Angelina and Juan David toast the good news that Monteverde is coming closer to becoming a municipality. Drat! The dreaded walkie talkie with its screeching ringing is back. It goes off and Juan David hurries out. Father Gabriel mutters under his breath, clearly not pleased.

A couple enters Doris’ Place. “We need a room for tonight. Sleep here, the two of us” they say in English but Doris and Cárcamo are clearly having trouble interpreting. Juan David comes in to save the day. He begins, “Welcome to Doris’ Place”. They say they want a room for the night. He tells them they have to pay 1,000 pesos in cash (approximately $58 in US currency, quite the deal!) “Let me take your bags. Follow me!” Doris and Cárcamo are smiling away. Then Juan David tells the couple “this is your room, enjoy your stay” he says smiling. He is rewarded with a $20 bill!

MONTEVERDE #68, Part 2 of 4

Oscar tells Celeste he is going to accompany them to Mexico City. I believe she tells him that Carolina doesn’t know they are coming, it’s a surprise.

Franco says he talked with Julieta – it’s a girl. She is going to be named “Mariana”. Oscar is happy as are the boys. Oscar tells Franco they are going to see Andres’ mother. “It’s for Andres” Oscar says defensively but Franco shakes his head knowing better.

Franco and Lucas talk about the Aquiles debacle.

Father Gabriel questions Oscar about his trip; Erika told him. Father Gabriel (who wasn’t born yesterday) seems to know the boys are not the only reason Oscar is bringing them to see Carolina!

Juan David shows Angelina the huge tip, it seems she already has ideas of how to spend it.

Franco and Pancho are talking when Lucia arrives. I’m here to see Aquiles she says. Franco starts to apologize again. She seems to have somewhat forgiven him.

Carolina’s lawyer shows up at the convent. There was something said about Carlos. Then Carolina asks if there is any possibility of her going to Monteverde to see Andres. Her attorney gets extremely upset sternly saying absolutely not! It’s out of the question; you cannot leave the convent! (Carolina looks sad but surely she didn’t expect a different answer, right?)

Juanita and Hugo flirt a bit; she tells him a secret and smiles.

Moises is manning the computer and seems to be looking for the route they will take to Carolina’s. Oscar arrives with tickets and helps them to follow the route.

As the couple departs Doris’, Juan David tells them “it was a pleasure serving you”. He gets another tip (I couldn’t see the bill denomination) but by his expression it looks like it was a good one! I should point out Juan David was wearing a gray sweater with yellow stars embroidered with the phrase “ready to try.”

It looks like it’s time for another doctor’s appointment for Angelina as Gloria and Father Gabriel arrive, ready to go.

Diana

MONTEVERDE #68, Part 3 of 4

Andres and Moises struggle with their backpacks a bit as they bid Franco goodbye. Andres is excited about the trip and his birthday. They leave as Franco smiles after them. At the inn, Celeste and Erika talk as Celeste’s suitcase is wheeled out. Moises bids his mother a warm goodbye as she smiles.

Father Gabriel and Gloria are once again front and center as the doctor performs the sonogram. Do you want to know the sex of the babies? “Yes” Father Gabriel and Gloria yell out in unison. The doctor then looks at Angelina and Juan David, the actual parents and they echo “yes”. A nino and a nina!

Carlos and Padilla the rat strategize. Padilla will keep watch at the convent. Carlos is apparently going to take a proactive approach.

Oscar, Celeste and the boys prepare to board the bus. Celeste annoys Oscar (sometimes, things never change do they? 😊) as she grabs her ticket. The boys are excited. As Celeste dozes in her seat next to Oscar, Moises tells his father he loves him and then questions him about Carolina, much to his discomfort. Then, Celeste, tight asleep, leans over on Oscar. His wide eyed very uncomfortable look on his face made me laugh!

There is a celebration at Manuel’s. Champagne all around! Naturally, Gloria keeps saying her granddaughter should be named after her.

The little group arrives and it seems Celeste had already taken charge of the transportation. They leave the terminal…

Padila is eating a huge Sammie, watching the convent.

Everyone enjoys the sights and the scenery during the drive…

Lucia and Diego are eating when he asks her (for the hundredth time) if she is all right. She realizes he is upset and apologizes. I think he tells her that he researched the “owner” and that he is/was an elderly man. She then admits that the true owner of Aquiles is Franco!

Angelina has two pairs of baby shoes (one pink and one blue) and other adorable infant paraphernalia spread out on the bed. Father Gabriel brings a letter – Montevede has officially become a municipality! Father Gabriel is open mouthed impactada!

Diana

MONTEVERDE #68, Part 4 of 4

Diego is furious, telling Lucia that Franco is mentirosa. He stands up, making quite the scene, waving his arms and going on about the flowers Franco sent her…You don’t have confidence in me Lucia says standing up, her arms tightly folded. I think he wants her to renounce Franco as he stalks away.

Carlos pounds on Oscar’s door. Franco opens it and Carlos demands to see his son. Where is he? It’s impossible Franco cooly retorts, he isn’t here! Not believing him Carlos yells out “Andres”, but of course there is no answer. What transpired next totally floored me. Franco actually tells Carlos Andres went to Mexico City to see his mother! OMG, what was he thinking?

In the last scene of the night, we see Carolina emerge from the convent for a laundry pickup. At that precise moment, the SUV pulls up. She smiles delightedly as Celeste, Moises and Andres promptly alight. Next, Oscar comes into view and she literally beams with happiness. “Oscar” she whispers…

Padilla is right there watching.

Domenica - as usual, I will be doing a combined recap for Mon-Thurs and I HOPE I can get that up before Friday’s episode drops.

Until I can reserve time to do it, here are some conversation starters so we can discuss:

I cannot fathom what possessed the writers to have Max rape Domenica. No puede ser. And now she’s pregnant. Poor girl had been through waaay too much. Was this really necessary?!

Kiara is unraveling and I worry who else is going to be collateral damage. After seeing Friday’s previews, I fear for Tia. I fear for Godfather - I fear for everyone! Scarlet Gruber is a genius when she plays narcissistic psychos. Wow.

So we know that Kiara killed Max. It doesn’t appear that Genaro KNOWS, he suspects, but doesn’t know. At least that’s how I interpreted their conversation; and I could be mistaken.

I fear for Silvi - she knows too much, and has far less to lose than Kiara if the truth comes out. She told Kiara that if she’s pressured, she’ll fold and spill be beans. That’s why she wants to get out of town. Silvi doesn’t know Kiara killed Max, I don’t think, but she’s freaked out by the very real possibility.

Aw, bless, so glad that Nieves and Pedro are going to marry!

Simon is a sweetie, I hope things work out for him and Adelaida. She needs to make it clear that she truly doesn’t view him as a consolation prize, and he needs to stop his tonterías like saying he has a novia in the neighboring pueblo - I’m pretty sure that’s BS.

I was really surprised to see Gina show up - I had pretty much forgotten her - but she’s pretty funny and has no f’s to give. I like that San Genis is smitten with her - funny how fast he got over Blanca!

I worry about the longevity of Gabriel. And/or Osvaldo.

Mercedes needs to finally give it up and apologize. Luis pretty much (as far as I am concerned) made it clear that any future meaningful relationship he has with his mom depends on her getting over herself and accepting Domenica.

See you tomorrow afternoon, I hope. So much going on, I hope I can do it justice!

I believe both babies are girls.

MONTEVERDE

Anon, I thought I did hear the doctor say "ninas" but wasn't sure. I changed my mind only after seeing the pink AND blue shoes on Angelina's bed. :)

Thank you.

MONTEVERDE Extras parte 1

Thanks, Diana.

Oscar tells Carolina about his fear that Moisés' newly arrived mother is going to cause problems in his relationship with him. Carolina cannot see that happening since the bond between him and Moisés is so strong. Moisés adores him. Oscar is not sure that he can compete with his mother. Carolina explains it isn't a competition. He is the man who raised Moisés and loved him all of these years. Moisés loves him more than anyone in the world. If she were Moisés' mother, she would be eternally grateful for how he has raised her son to be a marvelous boy. Oscar is one of those people who changes other peoples' destinies.

Lucía doesn't understand why she is so upset about Franco going to Peru. Rosalía tells her it is because she hasn't stopped loving him.

The official accepts Juan David's petition for Monteverde to become a municipality.

Lucía informs Rosalía and Lucas that she considers her relationship with Franco to be over as he does. She then tells Rosalía that when she got off that bus, all crazy in her wedding dress, she never thought she would find a friend like her.

Moisés and Andrés had a great time with Erika who is now going to go along with them on their trip. Moisés is going to Mexio City with his mother! That is news to Oscar. Moisés explains that they were talking about the trip and he asked his mother if she would go, so Oscar wouldn't have to worry, and she said yes.

Julieta feels like a ball ready to explode. Franco is coming for the birth of the baby and hopes to stay a few months. Then he wants her and the baby to come back with him to Mexico so his side of the family can meet Mariana. He will be in contact when he settles on a travel date.

Funniest scene of the evening: Andrés asks Moisés if since his fahter din't say anything when he told him about going with his mother, is it because he was giving him permission to do so. Moisés isn't sure but he thinks he might appear with his usual "Moisés, I have been thinking about it and I think . . ." Just at that moment, Oscar comes in and says "Moisés, I have been thinking about it and . . ." he doesn't think it is a good idea that he goes to Mexico City with his mother. He doesn't know her well enough yet so the boys will have to get used to the idea of him going to Mexico City with them.

Oscar tells Celeste that he will buy the bus tickets and pay for them. They are going on the tenth. It is Andrés' birthday. She wants to take the red-eye bus that will arrive in Mexico City very early the next morning.

Erika tells the good father about how suddenly Oscar is going to Mexico City with the boys and not her. She is afraid that he might take Moisés away from her and she will never see him again. The good father tries to calm her down saying that Oscar would never do anything like that. She asks then why did he change his mind just when he found out she was going. The good father has no answer but he can tell her that Oscar might be a bit surly but he has a great heart. She feels better having spoken to him. He cuts the conversation short and wonders what Oscar could be up to.

MONTEVERDE Extras parte 2

Franco talks with Lucas about losing Lucía. He wonders what to do with Aquiles now that he and Lucía are over. He is sure that she won't want to go on training him.

Lucía has come to say goodbye to Aquiles never expecting to see Franco there.
They both express their remorse that things turned out the way they did between them. He tries to talk her to continue raining Aquiles. Their relationship has nothing to dow with the job. They do not have to see each other. She agrees to keep the job as long as she doesn't have to see him.

The lawyer tells Carolina that the cybernetic investigator has discovered that the Carlos Rojas and Rafael Narváez accounts from the Faxo Corporation are linked to another corporation that was barely created a few weeks ago called Samy Bort. They believe that all of the money is there. If the investigator can get into the account, they are home free. The lawyer has faith that the investigator will be able to do it.

The lawyer informs Carolina, in no uncertain terms, that she needs to live by the rules of home confinement. She cannot leave the convent for any reason.

Juanita tells Hugo that he is the only man in the world that she would marry.

Several days later . . .

It looks like Juan David gets a $50 tip. Cárcamo tells him he did a good job. They don't know what they would have done without his knowledge of English.

Juan David tells Angelina that he got a total of $200 in tips from the couple at Doris'.

Juan David thought he and Angelina were going alone to her doctor appointment. Angelina says she couldn't say no to her mother or the good father. . .

Celeste tells Erika they will see her the day after tomorrow.

The twins are both girls.

Carlos wants that rat Padilla to watch Carolina because she is not allowed to even go to the corner under the rules of her home confinement. Tomorrow is their son's birthday and, knowing her, she is capable of doing anything to be with him. If she leaves, he will see her charged for breaching the conditions of her home confinement. He adds that she could sneak out at night. The rat will be on the case! Carlos is going to Monteverde to pick up his son and take him to where nobody will find them. If the rat sees Carolina out and about, he is to call him so he can notify the police ASAP.

Gloria says she wanted a granddaughter and now she will have two! Their names should be Gloria and Angelina. Of course, she starts argument when Juan David says that is a decision for another time and that babies should have their own names so they do not have the burden of another person's energy. She takes particular umbrage that her name might be considered a burden. The good father comes to the rescue basically telling her to mind her own business. He toasts to the little girls on the way who may be the glory and joy of their town!

Diego looks beyond aggravated when he finds out that Rizo-Patrón is Franco.
(Duh!)

MONTEVERDE Extras parte 3

Juan David assures Angelina that he is not disappointed that they are having two girls and not two boys. (And this question is coming from a woman??? Unbelievable!) He only cares that their two little chicks are healthy.

Diego cannot see how Lucía is not more upset about the Franco situation no matter what she says. He thinks that Franco has done all of this to split them up. She accuses him of not trusting her. He does trust her but he doesn't trust Franco. He reminds Lucía that he has never asked her for anything but he is now. He wants her to quit her job with Franco. He doesn't want her to have anything to do with Franco. (smart man)

MONTEVERDE

Diana, I also wondered why Franco gave Carlos so much detailed information.
Not too swift but he hasn't been, generally speaking.

Looks like Lucía will be leaving Diego in peace pretty soon. Lucky him!

So now we know how Carlos is aiming to get Carolina arrested again and jailed so he can get custody of Andrés. Unfortunately, Carolina is impulsive and could easily ruin her home confinement by acting without thinking. I still cannot believe she wanted her lawyer to ask the judge if she could go to Monteverde.

Oscar is turning into being quite the nuanced character.

I enjoyed the whole episode and will be watching again tonight!

Monteverde

I just rewatched the ultrasound scene. The doctor clearly said “par de gemelitas.” The parents then said “niñas.” So I think they are a pair of girls.

Babachita

Domenica

Elvira, thank you. I cant believe that the writers decided to make this show darker and more depressing. Lazy writing . Is Gina the woman who found Dominica lying on the road ? I don't remember her at all . She was very loving and caring .
Wow suddenly Pedro decides to marry Nieves .
Scarlet is going full throttle BSC now . I guess we never saw the person who shot Max. I am not surprised if it was Kiki. Susan

MONTEVERDE

Jarifa, thank you for this sensational summary. Your additions are just marvelous and add such depth, context and heart to the story. So invaluable and oh so very much appreciated!

You constantly unearth gems such as "...babies should have their own names so they do not have the burden of another person's energy. She takes particular umbrage that her name might be considered a burden". I loved that exchange.

I was confused as I thought Erika was going to accompany them to see Carolina so thank you for explaining that Oscar (quite nicely I thought) told her it would be best if she didn't. She seems lovely but she cannot ingratiate herself in every facet of her sons life immediately. Let Moises (and Oscar) breathe a bit while they process her life changing appearance.

Oscar's insecurity was touching. "Oscar is not sure that he can compete with his mother. Carolina explains it isn't a competition. He is the man who raised Moisés and loved him all of these years. Moisés loves him more than anyone in the world". Carolina always seems to know what to say to him (hiding her identity aside 😊)

I wish we would see more of Hugo and Juanita rather that just a brief conversation here and there.

Even though I think Franco and Lucia still do love each other, even with the Aquiles debacle, it doesn't seem realistic they will be able to (or should) repair their relationship, particularly with Franco ready to fly off to Peru for the birth of his child. After reading he "... hopes to stay a few months. Then he wants her and the baby to come back with him to Mexico so his side of the family can meet Mariana!" I couldn't help think of how difficult that would be for Lucia.

Juan David has been an unsung hero here, I admire his dedication, persistence and devotion to Angelina and his yet to be born girls.

Will Andres be able to avoid Carlos' clutches?? I am on pins and needles.

Thank you Jarifa, this was wonderful.

Diana

MONTEVERDE

Jarifa, " I also wondered why Franco gave Carlos so much detailed information. Not too swift but he hasn't been, generally speaking". Exactly!! 😊

I was also shocked Carolina asked her lawyer to be able to travel to Monteverde. She isn't thinking and is impulsive as you noted. I'm hoping now that Andres is coming to her, she won't do anything to jeopardize her situation! Fingers crossed.

Diana

Doménica

Thanks Elvira

Totally unnecessary rape scene. Doménica suffered so much already. Writers did the terrible thing. They played shock value card.
I'm still shocked after 3 days.
Kudos to Angelique Boyer, she was excellent.

Anon

Demenica

The rape was shocking. I wonder if that was in the original and so they included it. I can see her having the baby. She is so strong. Perhaps doctorcito will have compassion and flexibility. Not his mom, though.

I’d forgotten Gina. She seems like a good friend to have. Domenica needs one!

This should definitely be the later show with Monteverde earlier! Sad it turned so dark.

Babachita

Monteverde

Thanks Diana and Jarifa. I'm glad Jarifa cleared up the twins gender, I was pretty sure the doctor said 2 girls, I totally didn't look at the baby clothes so I didn't see anything blue. Regarding the wife asking the husband if he is disappointed that they are having 2 girls, I totally understand that. The Latino culture still seems to favor having boys rather than girls, especially the men.

It was sad when Angelina got sad that her girls wouldn't be able to grow up with Rosalia 's baby.

I'm totally in favor of Franco going to Peru for the birth of his child. All along I have felt a bit sorry for her. She had a good thing going with Franco (well except that small blip with Lucas), then the rug gets pulled out from under her when the ex returns. Lucia doesn't really seem ready for a lasting relationship, though I imagine the writers will give her and Franco their hea.

Domenica

I wonder if there is any chance the baby is actually Luisfe's. She could be further along than she thinks. We can hope.

Definitely no doubt Kiki was the killer, especially after adding 4 more shots to his dying body. I think this is my first time seeing this actress. She is really good at being bad.

I was a bit lost with Genero and the paperwork shenanigans going on. Why is Pedro worried that Silvi will spill the beans about him taking some of the paperwork? Also, Genero was terminated so all the more reason for him to have acess. Maybe he stole them from Genero's room though. I probably missed something. He was made co-foreman so he should be able to access all that. Isn't it amazing how in the space of less than a year he has gone from illiterate to being fluent in reading and accounting, and probably computers! (Tongue in cheek).

Pedro is getting a ring on his finger to deflect Silvi, though she's getting out while the getting's good.

MONTEVERDE

Thanks Kat!

"Lucia doesn't really seem ready for a lasting relationship, though I imagine the writers will give her and Franco their hea". I totally agree. I think Franco is even less ready than Lucia. I'm still wondering how everything will end up. I do have a feeling about something but I'm going to keep mum for now. :)

Diana

Domenica

I'm having PTSD with episodes 44/45

That scene when Domenica saw Max's face on Luis Fernando was heartbreaking.

Original wasn't this dark, especially at the end.

As I recall correctly in telenovela Mi pecado something similar happened to main character but that telenovela was dark from very beginning and rapist wasn't the father of the baby.

Domenica
I watched the original with Lucero , Fernando Colunga, and Gaby Spanic ( the bad girl). It wasnt this violent and no rape . It was better written IMHO. Angelique has done a great job with what she was given . susan

MONTEVERDE #69, Part 1of 3

Oscar’s car pulls up to the convent as Carolina emerges. Padilla stares as the boys and Oscar alight. “Oscar” Carolina says softly, hugging Moises. “Happy birthday” she rejoices, wrapping her adored son in her arms. She takes the boys by the hand as Oscar follows. Padilla stares as though he has seen Froilán!

Thick headed Carlos, still not understanding Andres is not at the ranch, continues to insist that Franco procure his son. Just then, Padilla calls Carlos and asks him where he is. Carlos says he is at Oscar’s ranch. Padilla tells him Andres is with Carolina and Oscar - at the convent! Carlos is angry and finally leaves. Franco shakes his head as he closes the door.

Carolina is beaming as Celeste tells her to calm down but has to smile a bit. Oscar and the boys are invited to sit as Carolina and Celeste walk off.

Juan David is still receiving praise for his work culminating in Monteverde becoming a municipality as Doris and Cárcamo join the group.

Madre Gustava comes out and hugs Andres wishing him happy birthday. She greets Oscar as Moises natters on adorably. The boys take off. “Gracias madre” Oscar says. Carolina and Oscar are finally left alone. Thank you for accompanying the boys Carolina says sweetly. Talk turns to Carlos whom she refers to as her “ex”. Oscar’s eyes light up, are you getting a divorce he asks hopefully? Not yet she answers. Carolina then asks how everything is going with Erika. Oscar allows Moises is happy but it’s complicated. She puts her hand on his arm as he stares. Franco calls Oscar and tells him Carlos was at the ranch. Carlos is at the ranch Carolina echoes worriedly. He puts his hand on her and reassures her. (I wish Franco had mentioned Carlos got a call that seemed to unnerve him. He didn’t know who it was but he might have deduced it was related to the situation)

The topic of the President of the municipality is discussed. Gloria wants Manuel and Doris wants Cárcamo. Neither man seems particularly interested (indeed Manuel says just that but Gloria ignores him as if he hasn’t even spoken). Gloria and Doris start bickering, returning to their old, confrontational ways!

Carlos asks Padilla if he is sure Carolina and boys are at the convent.

Juan David seems (rightfully) deflated he isn’t being considered as the President. But he isn’t alone! Father Gabriel and Angelina are by his side, cheering him on and proudly so.

All the nuns and Carolina are singing to Andres, even Celeste is awkwardly moving a bit to the beat (albeit badly). Oscar stands silent but smiling. A small cake is cut, Oscar getting one of the first pieces.

Franco and Lucas return from riding two magnificent horses when Franco gets word Diego is there to see him! Franco and Lucas walk off to meet the enemy together. Diego confronts Franco and starts right in. I can’t quite follow but I think Diego says he and Lucia are happy. Words escalate and Diego slugs him drawing blood. Lucas holds Franco back.

Moises and Andres talk about trying to get Carolina and Oscar together.

Now Diego and Franco really go at it, throwing punches left and right. Lucas breaks it up and leads Franco away.

Diana

MONTEVERDE #69, Part 2 of 3

Moises makes a pitiful face, complaining he has a stomachache. The little faker moans getting as much mileage as he can out of it. He smiles to himself as Carolina and Oscar put their hands on Moises’ stomach, one over the other. He and Andres smile as they give each other a thumbs up.

The “grown up” boys make it over to Rosalia’s for treatment, Franco muttering about Diego.

One of the sisters comes in to provide medical attention to Moises. Mother Gustava says they are welcome to stay there for the night. Oscar isn’t happy but can’t help but give a half smile to Carolina.

Belén runs to greet her father and seeing his bloody bruise, touches his face in worry. Lucia comes out and he tells her he rumbled with Franco. They argue and he says something that has her walking away. He rubs his head realizing that whatever he said is the wrong thing.

Oscar and Carolina talk in the courtyard…

Andres and Moises are having a grand old time in the room, Moises, the picture of health, jumping up and down joyously on the bed. However, he quickly lies down as the cool nun, Oscar and Carolina come in.

Erika is moping about Moises’ absence to Father Gabriel who reassures her. She has a favor; I only wish I had understood what it was.

Madre leads Andres and Oscar to a lovely looking bedroom. The menu is discussed.

Gloria is working on some sort of speech for Manuel for the municipality president. Hugo comes in trying to come up with a slogan. Manuel keeps saying he isn’t interested but Gloria ain’t listening. Hugo sits to strategize with Gloria as Manuel rolls his eyes.

A reluctant Cárcamo is also being encouraged by Doris, jumping the gun, showing him pictures of rather elegant suits.

Celeste bids Carolina and Andres a good night.

Franco calls Oscar asking how things are going with Andres’ mother.

Diana

MONTEVERDE #69, Part 3 of 3

Oscar texts Carolina and her and they meet outside. Oscar is (rightly) worried about Carlos but reassures her all is well. He turns to go but she calls him back, thanking him for the money he gave her. The boys sneak down the stairs. She moves closer to him and as she says good night, he grabs and kisses her just in time for the boys to see them as they peek around the corner. Uh oh. Celeste comes up behind them. Are you sick she asks Moises? Go to bed she orders as the boys sprint up the stairs. Celeste can’t help herself and peers around the corner seeing Oscar and Carolina kiss. She rolls her eyes looking heavenward. Oscar freaks out a bit, hurrying away like a scared rabbit as Carolina smiles.

Diego knocks on Lucia’s door as she packs. He apologizes and she looks thoughtful after he leaves.

Carolina and Oscar, in bed with their respective children, smile.

To my shock, Carolina’s lawyer knocks on Padilla’s window!

The next morning, everyone gathers for breakfast.

My screen went dark for a minute or two and the next thing I saw was the lawyer confronting Padilla, her face reflecting her dismay and disgust. Padilla gets back in his in car and pulls away as she shakes her head.

In the last scene of the night, Celeste confronts her sister for kissing Oscar. The only thing I think I understood was that she is completely in love with Oscar Leon. Other than that…Jarifa, kindly fill in my blank.

Juan David still gets no respect (save for Angelina and Father Gabriel of course). Gloria may think better of him but not enough to realize what a good and capable man he is.

I enjoyed every second of watching loveable schemer Moises who is so creative and resourceful. How could anyone get mad at that sweet face??

Will Carlos make his move while Carolina and Andres are still at the convent?? As she is still AT the convent, and not forbidden visitors (as far as we know), she isn’t violating any part of her home confinement, right?

Diana

Doménica

Elvira please hurry up 😉

Karma finally hits Kiara 👍
Doménica's reaction 👏👏👏

Anon

Domenica - finally someone stood up to Kiara, multiple someone’s stood up to her, and she couldn’t lie her way out if it!

A few comments as I work on the recap for these recent episodes over the weekend:

A lot of interesting developments - I was shocked that Tia had the wherewithal to block Kiara from visiting her in the hospital, and that Tia was swift to tell Domenica the truth about Kiara, before Kiara could find some way to stop it. So often characters in these novelas are slow to say something or let themselves get bumped off before they can tell anyone - so glad that didn’t happen here!

Prudencio and Nana are adorable with their matchmaking for Adelaida and Simon! Prudencio told Simon that Adelaida was leaving town for a job in the city because he broke her heart by giving her the cold shoulder - such a liar Prudencio is! Poor Simon rushes off to the city to chase after her, but she had no idea what her abuelo did and never left town!

Things are getting wrapped up for some of our characters; Ernesto is marrying Blanca and they’re all moving to Puebla where Blanca’s mother can maybe be more mobile. (More space to walk around?) Ernesto is going to be the ideal son-in-law!

Interesting how Kiara goes to all the people she’s conspired with (first Genaro and then Gabriel) to help her in her hour if need (after Domenica threw her out by her hair!) but both men are done with her - only Mercedes will help!

I had hoped to write a recap this afternoon, before ep 48, but that didn’t happen, alas. I should be able to catch up over the weekend, and then we only have TWO MORE EPISODES!

Doménica

Thanks Elvira

After a long time, this was a very satisfying episode.

Aunt Pilar redeem herself completely in my eyes.

Doménica's reaction was priceless 👏👏👏
Throwing out Kiara like a trash, was the best part of this telenovela.

I hope galán s reaction on pregnancy news will be supportive 🙏

Poor Doménica, after all that suffering, deserves lots of love, confidence and understanding.

Wow, teeny, tiny DominicaBin her bazaar vest and boots has .had. Enough. And . she's. Not . going. To. Take. It . anymore !!! I can't wait for Mercedes to realize what Kiki really is. Susan

Domenica

MI verdad

Wow...this show is heating up ! Mateo is Creepy Creeeperson.!" What is lying liar who lies wheeling dealing Inigio up to??? Susan

mi verdad

Susan, I agree. It’s really heating up. Iñigo is bad but it looks like Mateo is the worst! Looks like Mom knows all about San Benito. I wonder if she only knows a sanitized version or protects her family no matter what. I don’t like dog poisoning at all. That’s a bad sign. Hoping Lobo survives but he may be too old to rebound.
Bruno has a conscience and might not be totally bad. i can’t figure out Luciano’s role if any. Why does Eloisa dislike Belinda? Is she Luciano’s wife’s daughter but not his? What will be Zacarias’ role. He’s not portrayed as the galan. He makes me nervous because he acts without thinking. Aitana, OTOH, doesn’t take a step that isn’t planned.

Fascinating tale but stop with dog poisoning or I may not keep watching.

MONTEVERDE Extras parte 1

As they discuss and celebrate Juan David being successful in getting Monteverde to become a municipality, the discussion starts to turn contentious when Juan David assumes that he will be the first municipal president and Gloria smugly reminds him that there will have to be elections first. Who knows if he will be voted in? Angelina tells her mother not to say that. Her little bird Juan David is perfect for the job and nobody else is interested. Gloria informs her that she has no idea who might be interested when they find out about the opening. She is betting that everyone will be raising their hand to run. Angelina's mind cannot be changed.

When Doris and Cárcamo come in, Gloria informs them that Juan David is not going to be able to work for them since he is going to run for municipal president. That is news to everyone including Juan David. Juan David explains his quest to get Monteverde municipality status and how it is being approved He has been working on this all along and doesn't know if he will have time . . .

Moisés asks Mother Gustava if he can get a tour of the whole convent. She tells Andrés to give him one. She is going to get the kitchen to make them all breakfast. They take off. (I love her interactions with the boys. )

Carolina tells Oscar that it was important to her that he came. She asks if he has forgiven her. He tells her not to confuse things. He wanted to accompany Andrés. Since they were going to the city, he knew there was more of a chance of her husband taking him. They then talk about her "ex" technically not being her "ex" which dampens his enthusiasm a bit. He then goes on and on telling her what a wonderful boy Andrés is. Carolina tells him he has nothing to worry about with Moisés. He loves him more than anything in the world.

Oscar tells the Franco to inform the workers that Carlos is not to be allowed on his property. (The still dim) Franco tells Oscar that he will keep him up to date but fails to mention that he told Carlos that Andrés went to the convent in Mexico City. (DUH!!) Carolina is upset that Carlos came to the ranch. He tells her to calm down because they are not there and if Carlos ever were to appear on his ranch, he would never allow him to take Andrés.

Doris and Gloria are more interested in their husbands being the municipal president than they are. Angelina is sure that everyone will vote for Juan David.

Carolina apologizes to her son for not being able to get him a gift. He answers tht she and he being able to be together is the best gift.

Oscar asks Mother Gustava if there is a hotel nearby where he and Andrés can stay the night. She says no but there is a very comfortable boarding house down on the corner. They can stay there and come back tomorrow morning for breakfast at the convent. Celeste adds that is where sisters' family members stay when they come to visit. Oscar thinks that is perfect.

Moisés tells Andrés that he never thought a convent was like this. He thought it was like a jail. Moisés says nuns are not being punished but the convent can be scary. Moisés asks if there are ghosts. Andrés answers there are and there also are are secret passages and tunnels. Andrés has a plan for Moisés and his father to stay the night at the convent. Moisés agrees that then their parents will be happy.

(Ah, the fist fight! Diego needs to put us out of our misery and break up with Lucía already.)

Lucas insists on taking Franco to see Rosalía so she can look him over after the fight. (Really?)

Oscar can understand Moisés feeling sick. He got three servings and three cups of hot chocolate!!! Mother Gustava tells him not to scold Moisés. That is how kids are!! (I like her even more) She will get him some chamomile tea!

MONTEVERDE Extras parte 2

Rosalía is not impressed hearing about the fist fight between grown men. Franco is still bemoaning the fact that he is not with Lucía but it is over!!

The medical nun has stopped by and decides that Moisés has a stomachache either from food or maybe nerves after making such a trip. She is going to give him a little pill so it doesn't hurt so bad. He also needs to drink the chamomile tea and rest in bed until tomorrow. The good natured Mother Gustava decides that they have to stay at the convent overnight and she doesn't do that for just anyone.

Diego tells Belén that he ran into a glass door when she sees the damage done to his face. Lucía appears wondering where he was. She is ready to have their talk. She is angry that he felt like he had to go talk to him and didn't trust her to handle the situation. She has told him a thousand times that she has nothing to do with Franco. The Rizo-Patrón thing bothered her a lot but that is between her and Franco. She settled the matter. Diego doesn't see it that way since Franco owns Aquiles and she is still working for him. She will still have to see him. She disagrees. She told him that already. The horse is the important thing for her. Diego loves her a lot but cannot put up with her ex getting in between them all the time. She insists that Franco isn't between them. Diego disagrees. Ever since they began their relationship Diego has been popping up anytime he turns around. She doesn't want to give up her job because of his insecurities.
Furthermore, she loves Aquiles. He suggests she find a job somewhere else. Aquiles isn't the only horse in the world. She wants to finish what she agreed to do . He calls her silly. She calls him jealous and wants a relationship based in trust snd freedom. She is seeing neither in theirs. He cannot believe that a horse is more important to her than he is. She looks like she cannot believe what she just heard and leaves.

Oscar says he cannot disobey Mother Gustava so it seems that he and Moisés will be staying the night at the convent. They both smile.

Erika asks the good father if he an help he get a job. She has only worked as a receptionist but is willing to learn anything she has to do for a job. He tells her there aren't hardly any available jobs in town but he will do what he can. She is sure she wants to stay in Monteverde for good. She could never separate Moisés from Oscar. She would never be capable of that. The good father is happy to hear that. That speaks well of her.

Mother Gustava moves Moisés to his new room. She is going to get him some chicken broth. He would like something else. She disagrees. It is chicken broth for him period. Moisés moans that hates chicken broth. Oscar says he will have to put up with it (Ah, the price of his plan!!) and asks if he thought if he was getting a burger. Moisés thinks that would be okay. His father says no because he has to get better so he will be eating the chicken broth!!! Moisés finally gives in. Oscar offers to get his son's broth. Mother Gustava says no way. They are her guests and he doesn't know where the kitchen is anyway. She leaves and Carolina says they have to look on the bright side. They can spend more tome together. Even Oscar has to smile.

MONTEVERDE Extas parte 3

The best slogan: "Monteverde es un tesoro, vote por Manuel Toro." Monteverde is a treasure. Vote for Manuel Toro." Manuel is still not sure he wants to run for office. Gloria wants Hugo to spy on Juan David's campaign for her. Hugo thinks that wold be illegal. Isn't she supporting her son-in-law? No, she is supporting her hubby first, of course! Manuel says he doesn't want to do it but she is insisting. She thinks all is fair in love and politics! If Manuel wins, Hugo and Juanita could all have government positions and she could be the First Lady of Monteverde. Once he realizes there might be more money in it for him, Hugo says she can count him in keeping it all in the family. Manuela asks Gloria, since she is so interested in town politcs, why doesn't she run herself. She has to admit that she would be the ideal candidate but there are those in t town who do not appreciate her because of how she is like being direct. On the other hand, everyone respects and loves Manuel who is like the old wise man of the town. Manuel prays to God to get him out of this mess.

Cárcamo isn't interested in running either and suggests that Doris runs instead. Since he was born and raised in Monteverde, she sees it as his responsibility to guide the town into the future. If he wins, the town will bece a tourist destination and make their hotel number one in the region.

Celesste tells Carolina to rest and to behave herself!! They can think about Carlos tomorrow.

"Franco calls Oscar asking how things are going with Andres’ mother." but still doesn't mention that he told Carlos where they currently are. (Duh! Duh!) He does tell Oscar that Carlos doesn't seem to be in town anymore. Oscar ways are coming back tomorrow morning. Carolina was very happy to see her son.

Oscar tells Carolina that Carlos was looking for Andrés in Monteverde. He doesn't know if he could be coming to Mexico City to look for him or if he is in Zacatillo waiting for them to come back. Oscar tells her not to trust him. Oscar assures her he will not allow Carlos to take Andrés. She also thanks him for giving her sister the money for the lawyer.

Oscar quickly regrets the kiss and says they cannot have a relationship as he hurries away. Carolina smiles knowing that he still loves her.

Diego and Lucía agree to talk tomorrow.

The lawyer asks Padilla what he is doing parked outside the convent. Is he there to give her the USB or is he spying on her client for Carlos???

At breakfast the next morning, Moisés is sure that the chamomile tea that Mother Gustava gave him cured his stomachache. He is already for those little tamales. Celeste says no way. Just because he is feeling better doesn't mean that he is cured. Oscar agrees that it is best he be careful with what he eats until they get home. Oscar tells him to eat his chicken broth. . . . . : ) The boys would love to stay another day to see more of the city. They could go to the zoo at Chapultepec. Celeste says that is for another time. This is their "lightning fast" trip. Oscar agrees as it is a matter of security for Andrés. Andrés asks if he could stay with his mother. She explains he will be safer staying with Oscar. Hopefully they can be together soon.

Padilla insists he is not spying. She reminds hi that they were supposed to meet and he disappeared. He lies saying he was here now precisely to talk to her. He lies again saying that his office was robbed and everything was taken including the USB! She thinks that is quite the coincidence! He knows she doesn't believe him and thinks that Carlos might have planned the robbery when he found out about the USB. He asks if she knows anything about Carlos.

MI verdad

I thought Luciano's fiancee 's name was Larisa . Inigio is awful . He pursues her constantly and then sweet talks his poor wife ( Iran Castillo ...I don't know her characters name ).Zak seems devoted to Aitana , but he is a loose canon. BSC Mateo hates him and seems to be after Zak' s novia...don't know her name , but she is young and innocent and Mateo seems obsessed with having her . i guess he is a vet . So the mother knows what her sons did...did they all attack Aitana ? Mother seems to want Luciano to marry the bad girl speedy quick. Why?? Susan

Monteverde Extras parte 4

She says she knows absolutely nothing about him. She adds that she is no fool and now is wondering why he would come to see her here and not at her office. He suddenly decides he has to leave rather than answer her question.

Celeste confronts Carolina about kissing Oscar. She saw her. Carolina starts to deny it. Celeste tells her to cut the "dementia" act because the boys saw them kissing, too. Celeste is so embarrassed. Celeste finds that hard to believe. All Carolina can do is admit being deeply in love with Oscar. She is giddy as she talks about kissing him last night. Celeste reminds her that today they are going back to Monteverde and she cannot leave the convent until she is proven innocent. With a goofy grin on her face, Carolina suggests that she could be leaving the convent if Celeste were to switch places with her. That is the last favor she would ever ask of her sister.Celeste looks at her in disbelief.

MONTEVERDE

Thank you, Diana.

Please forgive the typos. I have no time to edit today.

Diana, your questions are good ones. If we only knew where Carlos was . . .

My favorite parts tonight were the kids scheming away and Moisés getting stuck with the chicken broth. . . and even when smelling the tamales the next day.

Diego's break up with Lucía is long overdue. They are so incompatible. She is way too young for him in age and in life experience.

Some how I do not think that Celeste will agree to go undercover in the name of love for her sister but who knows? Guess we will have to wait until Monday night.

MONTEVERDE

Jarifa, your summary was a wonderful treat, replete with astute and insightful revelations and oh so much more. I am so grateful you share your superlative language skills, enhancing every single episode.

"(The still dim) Franco tells Oscar that he will keep him up to date but fails to mention that he told Carlos that Andrés went to the convent in Mexico City. (DUH!!)" and "Franco calls Oscar asking how things are going with Andres’ mother. but still doesn't mention that he told Carlos where they currently are. (Duh! Duh!)" had me laughing away. How could Junior have left such an important detail out??? Boggles the mind doesn't it?

"Manuel prays to God to get him out of this mess" was another hilarious line!

Now that I understand "She calls him jealous and wants a relationship based in trust snd freedom. She is seeing neither in theirs. He cannot believe that a horse is more important to her than he is. She looks like she cannot believe what she just heard and leaves", I can certainly see why these two seem kaput. As you noted Lucia and Diego are too far apart in age and experience.

"If Manuel wins, Hugo and Juanita could all have government positions and she could be the First Lady of Monteverde". Gloria, always an eye out for opportunity!

I'm hoping Carolina's lawyer will tell her about Padilla being there and that she and Oscar can put two and two together.

Oh my, Carolina wants Celeste to exchange places!!! Oh my I can't see Celeste agreeing that that but...what a great twist that would be! Oh, and I sincerely doubt that would be Carolina's last favor :)

Marvelous Jarifa, just marvelous. Thank you!

Diana

Anonymous:

The original was La Dona from Venezuela. Then from Mexico La Dueña in 1995 and Soy Tu Dueña in 2010.

A maid was raped in La Dueña but not the lead Regina. I agree that this was totally unnecessary.

The Wikipedia shows this sequence with other remakes from, I think, Venezuela:
La doña (1972)
Doménica Montero (1978)
Amanda Sabater (1989)
El desafío (1995)
Amor e odio (2001)
Soy tu dueña (2010)

Domenica

If I knew what's gonna happen in episodes 44/45, I would never started this show.

Attempted rape should have been sufficient for sadistic writers. They definitely wanted a (completely unnecessary) shock effect.

Angelique's performance was outstanding though .

Without that horrifying scene this telenovela would be so much better.

Anon: That's the openly, blatant intention: pissing off viewers like you LOL.

I am interested to seeing Whacky Kiara's Karma Anvil coming her way in the Gran Final this week.

Pissing off or pissing on 🤔

Domenica — I keep on saying I’m going to do the recap and then I don’t do the recap. I apologize. I’m going to try to whip something up fast before the next episode drops. I’ll probably post it on the new page for Monday.

I am glad that Kiara is starting to reap what she sowed, but I fear that somebody is going to be her victim before this show ends.

I heard a spoiler elsewhere about Domenica being pregnant. What else do they have in store for us?

"DOMENICA"
Elvira: Kiara is going to try to kill Domenica I'm afraid.
