Larissa keeps calling Bernie about the wedding. He is her wedding planner. In the end he quits on her (I think because she isn't paying him and has given him a shoestring budget). Nuria is going to help her out with her college contacts.
Inigo continues to plot against Luciano. Vincente, I think is a PI working for him and fills him in on the business that suegro is involved with. Inigo wants Luciano to invest in it and then Inigo can swoop in and save the family from his inept brother.
Mama is losing her hair and is not happy. She's isn't looking very healthy.
Juan Jo, Nuria's lawyer, is counseling her to get a restraining order against Inigo before he hurts her. She doesn't believe Inigo would physically hurt her. But he has cut off her credit cards. She ordered groceries and the card kept getting declined. Lawyer paid it for her.
Mateo continues to stalk Ximena. He acts friendly to her and tells her taking care of herself and the baby is of paramount importance.
Aitana is checking out Mateo's office. The box of pictures of Ximena is empty. Not sure why she wants them, maybe to prove to Ximena that Mateo is dangerous. Zac is acting as her lookout texting her to let her know Mat is still in a meeting with his brothers.
Not all his brothers though. Bruno calls Gael from rehab to see if Aitana seems to miss him. He also pumps Gael for info about Zac and Aitana, are they getting together. Gael pleads ignorance and tells him he has to get back to work.
I think Michaela is ximenas godmother. She is keeping an eye on her and sticking up for her. I think she will end up being in the good category.
I'm not a fan of the actor playing Zac, nor the storyline he
Is storyline. He has been involved with Ximena 2 years, likely longer than he and Aitana dated in their youth. He should just move on.
Susan, I'm pretty sure Luciano is the galan in this story. He has top billing amongst the male actors.
Carolina’s lawyer tells her that unfortunately the judge will not consider any new evidence in her case. Carolina is distraught while the lawyer urges patience. Carolina visually crumbles, she cannot deal with this mistreatment that has been foisted upon her.
The doctor is examining Angelina as she whimpers softly. Father Gabriel is pacing in the waiting room as Gloria argues with him as on the hierarchy of importance. I am her mother she argues as she tries to brush past him. He isn’t having it and rather sternly tells her to back off.
Franco is upset, riddled with worry about Lucia as he talks with Lucas and Rosalia, who is clearly exhausted, leaning against Lucas.
When Juan David comes out, they ask how Angelina is. He tells them she and the babies are fine (I think false labor was mentioned). Angelina is wheeled out as Gloria fusses a bit (I can’t blame her). Gloria and Juan David argue as to who is going to accompany her out. Father Gabriel walks over the wheelchair and takes charge! So there!
Lucia is sitting up in bed looking pale and rather heartbroken as she closes her eyes in tears, calling herself infirm as Rosalia tries to encourage her, reminding her that her condition isn’t fatal. Rosalia stands next to the bed and drapes her arm comfortingly around her friend.
Erika talks to Oscar (was it about the vacant house?) Oscar looks thoughtful.
Carolina is sitting in bed talking to Madre Gustava, who smiles and says that until things get resolved she is welcome to stay there. The convent isn’t terrible is it? No not terrible Carolina admits as she smiles. Madre assures her life will eventually return to normal and asks her to accompany her to the cosina; Carolina smilingly agrees.
Carlos is at a café when Sara calls. She brags she has already met Celeste and been to Manuel’s; Carlos is suitably impressed. Celeste is going to accompany her to Oscar’s where Moises and Andres are. Just then, Celeste comes out and Sara hangs up. Their transportation? Pink bikes with green handles await.
Franco spoon feeds Lucia. She says how difficult this is for her. He gently fingers her face telling her she isn’t alone. “Te amo Lucia” he murmurs. She returns the sentiment. He leans forward and gives her a gentle kiss. He almost smiles.
Angelina is safely ensconced in bed. Juan David is kind but firm to Gloria saying Angelina will be fine; she is his spouse. Father Gabriel leads Gloria out. Finally alone, there is an adorable discussion between Angelina and Juan David regarding names for the twins. I think Natasha and Lorraine were mentioned. Then, Jennifer is mentioned with talk as to whether it is Jennifer Aniston or Jennifer Lopez!! I think Jennifer Lopez got the nod.
Carolina calls Oscar and tells him what has transpired. He is sympathetic but knows how the legal process goes. She says she is sad; he talks about being together once this is over. They love one another.
Diana
Sister Celeste arrives at Oscar’s. WITH Sara ☹! Sara pushes to take the boys outside to which Oscar reluctantly agrees. Sara smiles her slimy, lyin’ smile. She procures a book about birding and sits down with the boys on the couch…
Angelina has tea as Juan David is overjoyed she is all right. I am thinking Angelina needs to rest and Juan David wants to be with her. She worries about money but he assures her he will take care of everything.
Oscar foolishly talks to Celeste in front of Sara who is listening to every word (which was over my head). Sara thanks him.
Augustin comes in and is dismayed to see Sara there! Oscar tells him to keep an eye on her.
Celeste calls Carolina who cries as she is separated from both Andres and Oscar. Celeste tries to calm her fears, urging her not to be negative. Carolina says she is the best sister in the world.
Juan David goes to Doris’. She is frosty initially but Juan David tells her about Angelina; I’m not sure if he tells her he either can’t work (or work as much) and/or can’t be on call. That said, he advises them he is going to Manuel’s and hands back his radio.
Augustin is walking down the trail trying to find Sara when she runs out outsmarting him. They take off.
Franco is still feeding Lucia when the doctor comes in.
At Manuel’s, Rosalia tells a concerned Juanita that Franco is with Lucia at the hospital. Manuel and Gloria come out and give her a takeout order; Juan David, Cárcamo and Doris come in to pick up an order. Juan David gets a call as everyone listens. It is some sort of good news about Monteverde becoming a municipality. Alas, soon cat fighting between Gloria and Doris begins as Cárcamo shakes his head. Gloria grabs the bag and walks out with Rosalia.
Much to Sara’s delight, all of a sudden, Moises and Andres come running outside. Augustin is not happy as Sara starts a tour.
Diana
Next, Augustin enters, alerting Oscar that the boys are with Sara but he somehow lost them! Oscar is upset and alarmed. Erika’s eyes are as wide as saucers.
All of a sudden, Sara walks in with both boys. As she leaves, Oscar reads them the riot act; Erika backing him up. The boys apologize but Oscar sends them upstairs. Oscar tells Augustin to be sure Sara leaves. Is there a problem he asks Erika, his eyes on fire. No she says…
Carlos is at his desk when Sara calls him; she has a surprise. She sends him a picture of her and the boys. You were at Oscar’s he mutters, quite impressed. She retorts that thanks to him, she has Celeste’s confidence. That is incredible he effuses. She has some plan that he seems to be doubtful about. She says she will talk with him tomorrow.
Lucia has a furry white stuffed animal on her bed. She and Franco kiss as Rosalia comes in, apologizing for interrupting. Franco tells Lucia he will call her the next day; he takes his hat and coat and leaves. Rosalia and Lucia smile at each other as the door closes.
OMG, Sara comes to the inn with a big bag of pastries. Celeste asks her how things went with Oscar saying what a good man he is. Sara makes herself right at home. Ack.
Elsewhere, Carolina dines with the nuns; she confides in the good Madre.
Oh no. As the women at the inn sit companionably, Carolina’s name comes up and Sara pounces. Who is Carolina she asks innocently, this interloper, a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Celeste explains that Carolina is her sister. THEN Celeste talks about the fraud explaining that Carolina’s lawyer has evidence that Carlos was responsible for the fraud, making the money transfer himself! Sara is shocked.
Andres talks to Carolina and asks when she is coming home; he misses her. She knows it is difficult and tells him she loves him as they sadly hang up.
Franco enters Oscar’s bedroom and asks how Lucia is and Franco fills him in. Oscar then asks about Mariana and asks to see pictures. He smiles as Franco complies, the very proud papa.
After hearing the other side of the story (and the true one), a furious Sara goes to her room and calls Carlos. She tells him what she was told; that he is the perpetrator. She mentions he was the one who did the money transfers as he stares, trying to process this unexpected development. Has she had a change of heart or will Carlos be able to dissuade her? I vote the latter.
I wonder if we will ever find out who Moises’ real father is? The only person we know who might be a candidate is Nestor, right or have I missed someone?
So frustrating that Sara is fitting in so seamlessly! What a viper.
Lack of language skills continues to haunt me. I know I missed a lot and likely misinterpreted things as well. Jarifa, I look forward to your always excellent summary which I know will fill in my Swiss cheese holes perfectly.
Diana
Thanks Diana. The names that Angelina and JD agree on are Jennifer Anastasia (like Jennifer Anniston) and Jennifer Lorena (or something like that fo JLo).
All along I've figured the best way for Sarah to see the light is by the townspeople filling her in. Do Everytime the case is discussed (Oscar and Carolinas cal was about that) and she overheard is a chance for her to learn the truth. She is emotionally vested in a stolen from his father Andres, but she doesn't really know Carlos after only one or 2 dates. She brought the boys back the the house to gain Oscars trust. She claimed since they didn't get permission she brought them back.
As expected, Erika is interested in renting the abandoned house so she can see more of Moises in the security of Oscar's ranch. I just had a brainstorm. I wonder if Carlos is the father of Moises? The timing would be right and he was married to Carolina at the time. That would tie this up nicely with the boys being half siblings.
Jarifa I'm sure will add her excellent extras which I also anxiously await to confirm my take on the episode.
Thanks for your comments Kat.
You are spot on in that Sara has no idea who Carlos is as a person; she only thinks he has lost his son by nefarious means. I eagerly look forward to what Jarifa tells us about what exactly the women told her at the inn and what she said to Carlos.
Carlos being Andres' father would be interesting although I'd be rather sad that he had two gems like Moises and Andres and was such a lying louse. I'm glad both boys will end up with Oscar as their father!
Diana
Thanks, Diana!
My original Extras magically disappeared just before I was going to publish them. . . : ( due to a computer/electrical blip.
Anyway, here is what I remember. It is not in order.
Angelina's medical condition was caused by STRESS. She is being sent home and told to take it easy so the babies are not born prematurely. Gloria refuses to give up trying to take control no matter what the doctor said. Later the same day, she goes as far as as asking Rosalía to look Angelina over so she can get back into her house. She declares she will be the one taking care of her daughter as JuanDavid looks on while paying for his groceries. (She has become beyond annoying to me, at least)
Angelina decides to name the babies. Jennifer Anastasia and Jennifer Lorena like Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer López. Juan David likes the idea.
Juan David decides that he needs to quit his job at the hotel so he can have more time to take care of Angelina.
Oscar wants to visit Carolina but she would rather that he not come. She is too sad when he leaves. He also has to look out for the boys. They agree that they need to concentrate on plans for their future.
Erika offers to rent the vacant house on Oscar's property. That way she can spend more time with Moisés and he doesn't have to be worried about his safety.
Rosalía should be getting out tomorrow. She is upset about losing her breast and then her hair with chemo. It is as if she is losing her femininity. Her chemo will start as soon as she has recovered from her surgery.
Celeste tells Carolina that if she is convicted, she will switch places with her and go to jail for her. She lives locked up anyway!
Sara brings the boys back because she realized that Oscar had not given them permission to go with her. Oscar is angry with the boy because he told them they couldn't go with Sara and they did. They argue that Sara is a good person. She brought them back. Oscar has had enough of the boys. He sends them to their room. He tells Augustín to follow Sara and to not let her out of his sight.
Much to Oscar's displeasure, Erika thinks he is overreacting. He thinks it is better not to trust someone than to be be surprised.
Mother Gustava gives Carolina a cup of hot chocolate to lighten her spirits and a job painting a wall, instead of washing sheets and tablecloths, to take her mind off of her situation.
It looks like Franco brought Lucía a stuffed llama from Perú.
Franco tells his father that he and Lucía never stopped loving each other.
Monteverde has officially been declared a municipality. Elections for president take place in one month.
Thanks Diana, Jarifa and Kat, lots of information in the recaps and comments. I think they’re a little crazy to give the twins the same first name, I’ve never heard it that before. A Bob Newhart show had a brother Darryl and another brother Darryl. I guess they’ll always use the full name or go by the middle name! A neighbor’s kids all went by their middle names and we didn’t know this until one got married. When the minister said his name it was his first name and a lot of us were looking around wondering who that was!
Can Gloria get any more annoying. Probably. They say love is blind but I can’t figure out why Manuel is so in love with her!
I was surprised Rosalia lost her breath. I somehow thought they were doing a lumpectomy. And now she needs chemo too. That’s kind of heavy for this lighthearted show!
I’m glad Sarah wised up after hearing the truth, but I wish she hadn’t called Carlos to tell him the lawyer has proof of his transferring the money. He might do something desperate to get Andres and him out of the country.
I really hate to see this show come to an end.
Liz
I watched the first episode last night ,and it looks like this might be a good show. I am a fan of Rulli and Arturo Peniche. Love the colorful costumes and horses. Renato's (Rulli's ) dark haired friend was in "Fugitivos." . The leading lady has been in many shows. The young actress playing her daughter was the younger daughter in " Las Hiyas." I haven't seen Ana Berthe in awhile . The first time I saw her was in "Alborada." Arturo was the villain in that novela. It takes place that at a hacienda . I hope this is a good one. Susan
Thanks Kat, I enjoyed your recap. I’m not crazy about Zac either. I didn’t know how long he dated Ximena. I’m thinking, or hoping, that he was in love with her until Aitana reappeared in his life. But he acts without thinking and I’m afraid he’ll eventually blow Aitana’s cover.
I also think Michaela is Ximena’s godmother. But I think Zac’s parents are move loving towards her. I don’t know how everyone will react to her pregnancy. That’s if our local vet and nutcase doesn’t slip her a drug to end the pregnancy. He said he’d take care of her and the baby but I can’t see him loving someone else’s baby. And his mother would go berserk if she thought he had a baby with the hired help.
Now that we know Bruno didn’t take part in the rape, and Luciano wasn’t even there I can’t imagine who the third guy was.
I wonder if the wedding will happen. Aitana wants to reveal the cheating Larissa to him after the wedding. She said if she did it before she’d be doing him a favor.
Kat and Liz, thank you for the recaps . I agree that Sam is annoying and unlike able . He will hurt Aitana more than help her . He has already hurt kind, caring Ximena , so he is not a good guy .
I am glad that Nuria has a lawyer ( who seems smitten with her ). I think that those two will end up together . Nuria deserves a HEA after dealing with screaming , pouting baby Ingiio and that whole dysfunctional family .
Susan
Jarifa, loved your sterling summary! It was so kind of you to go to all the trouble to do a second summary; I would be lost without your wise and enlightening comments!
Aside from Sara getting a clue about exactly who Carlos is, "Celeste tells Carolina that if she is convicted, she will switch places with her and go to jail for her. She lives locked up anyway!" was pivotal! I've no doubt Celeste means every word too! Let's hope it doesn't come to that. Celeste, Father Gabriel and Madre Gustava are such dependable and loyal friends.
"She is upset about losing her breast and then her hair with chemo. It is as if she is losing her femininity. Her chemo will start as soon as she has recovered from her surgery". Poor Lucia! Both she and Rosalia have certainly endured more than their share of hardships.
Gloria is getting to be too much. Angelina needs peace and quiet. That does not include her mother!
Jarifa, thank you for adding so many important details. As always, an amazing read.
Diana
Thanks Kat.
Yup, I remember Darryl and "my other brother Darryl" very well. Newhart was a genius in so many ways; thanks for that fun memory. That said, I don't think giving the twins the same name is a good idea. At the least, different names would give them a bit of individuality.
"Can Gloria get any more annoying. Probably" had me smiling. I suspect you are exactly right.
I also thought Lucia was going to have a lumpectomy...chemo does add another layer of sadness and seems harsh for this good hearted character.
I fear you are right in that Sara accusing Carlos is going to put him on the defensive and cause him to strike. I do fear Andres is going to be abducted one way or the other. I hope I'm wrong.
Diana
Diana, I haven't lost EVERYTHING like I did this morning in years. Oh, well . . .
I never expected Sara finding out the truth about Carolina and telling Carlos he was the criminal. That is what I love about this novela. I, too, wonder if Sara will give Carlos the old heave ho or will allow herself to be convinced of his "innocence." It would be a breath of fresh air in telenovelalandia if she were to become an ally of Carolina.
Cannot wait until tonight.
Susan I watched it also and liked it. I read up on it, it was totally fixed on location, and the location is mighty fine. I so hoped by the title that it would just be about a mother daughter fighting for the same guy. But, no, the Peniche character is a bad guy too. He started out good saving the orphan kid. But now he wants the dying neighbors lands. He should try to get his son to marry the daughter, that would solve the problem. I don't remember a single characters name yet. If I'm feeling ambitious maybe I'll post something tonight.
That should have been filmed, not fixed on location.....I so wish there was an edit feature in this blogspot.....
Kat, Liz and anonymous, thank you for the recaps and comments. I did not understand what Inigo and that other guy was saying, but I knew whatever was going on, it was intended to undermine Luciano.
I also did not understand what Larissa was saying to whomever she was talking to. I agree that Mateo is going to do something to cause Ximena to lose the baby.
It seems like Aitana and Luciano is commencing their romance. The hand holding and reluctance to let go was a sure sign.
Kat, I think you were the one to speculate on how DNA samples might be obtained from the brothers. That may be plausible since the mother is getting sicker and sicker from her treatments. We'll see what happens.
I too, and very curious about who the third guy might have been who raped Aitana. Apparently she does not know about ever having a baby. It will be interesting how the writers pull everything together.
What is Aitana saying to her amiga on the phone? I didn't understand that dialogue.
Lester
Lester, you jogged my memory about something. Aitana pocketed the hank of hair that mom(Eloisa) pulled out. Is she going to use it to get DNA or to match it for a wig?
The conversation with her Amiga was about her and Zac. As they were getting hot and heavy the flashbacks took over. I think she also told her she might have feelings for Luciano which confuses her given their supposed history. Too bad we don't have a really proficient in Spanish watcher of this show to fill in the holes! I guess we'll stumble through together and hopefully answers will be revealed as the story continues.
Kat, thanks for letting us know that Peniche is a villain. He has often played villains in the past, but he has also played good guys. I thought he might be one of the good guys because he did take in teen Renato and give him a place to live and skills . Is his son ( Renato's friend ) a good guy. ? He appears to be .
This show is a visual treat. I live the colorful costumes . I am interested in seeing how things unfold . it looks like Renato is going to be a fair boss with the workers . Susan
Kat...Peniche is Gustavo. Porfirio is Paloma's husband . The daughter's name is Barbara. I think Gustavo' s (Peniche 's)wife is being played by Martha Julia whom I haven't seen in quite awhile . She always plays a badgirl. Susan
In her phone convo with her friend, Aitana admitted being upset by her attraction to Luciano and also worried she was encouraging Zac to push Luciano out of her head.
I think Aitana knows she gave birth. When her Mom came to the house, Mom said “we’ve already lost your father, and her”. Zac perked up and said “who? What? Her?” They ignored him. Wondering, could Zac be Belinda’s bio-dad? We’ve been assuming pregnancy resulted from the rape.
Not sure it matters but Vicente, the guy Iñigo was conspiring with, is a reporter investigating Larissa’s father. He plans to publish an expose of his financial fraud. When Iñigo asked if he thought Larissa was an accomplice, Vicente said they worked so closely together she must know something. Vicente suggested Iñigo give Luciano a heads up, but Iñigo wants to swoop in as a savior at the last minute and expose Luciano’s incompetence.
When the brothers met to discuss the business deal, Iñigo told Luciano to use his own money for half of the investment amount, and Mateo agreed.
Nuria and her lawyer previously dated.
Clara
A couple more notes, going back into the last couple episodes . Bruno is totally smitten with Aitana . She is the reason he agreed to go to rehab—to stop being haunted by the past and become a better person, worthy of Aitana. This too is why Bruno blew up at Luciano, because when Aitana arrived Luciano told the brothers to keep their distance, yet Luciano—while engaged—kissed her.
For her part, Aitana didn’t soften toward Bruno after learning he was not actively involved in the rape. In a phone conversation with her friend, Aitana said Bruno is a coward, guilty as the rest of them, and has to “pay”.
Worst of all, in Aitana’s view, is Mom. As a woman she should have had empathy and female solidarity—instead she covered for her disgusting boys.
When Bruno asked how the woman died, Mom and Mateo spun a tale. Said private investigator was hired. Learned she “lived a normal life” and got married. She and her husband died in a car accident. This was meant to help Bruno forget.
Aitana and Zac are worried now about Ximena’s safety. Aitana intended to get the incriminating photos and put them where Ximena could discover them.
Also, Ximena and Zac dated for two years.
Clara
Clara, thanks so much. Your additions cleared up a lot! So glad we have another member helping us not so fluent Spanish speakers out!
Nuria is the wedding planner! Eloisa is not pleased. She thinks Nuria has no class. Then why does she want her to remain married to Iñigo if she thinks so poorly of her. Larissa models her wedding dress to Eloisa. I guess she thinks Larissa is classy.
Belinda gets advice from Aitana about boys and going to London. Aitana thinks she should give Rolando a chance. You can't force love (with Gael). Belinda just wants to find her bio family. Aitana points out that life could pass her by as she searches for someone that may never be found. Go to London, but after your father's wedding.
Nuria confronts Iñigo about cancelling her credit card, it affects your children. She threatens to sue him for child support, and maybe alimony? He doesn't want her to have money to pay her lawyer. She tells him the money isn't for that. So then he jumps to the conclusion she is paying him in the bedroom. She informs him she is paying him from her own job, working as a wedding planner for Larissa. He threatens her she better not work for Larissa. He does bring up a good point, what's your salary. Larissa is going to use you. Nuria tells him some home truths which is pretty much summed up as "you're not the boss of me".
Bruno calls Gael, who is at Nuria's place with Ceci. Are they starting a business together. Bruno is upset that Aitana is ignoring him. Ceci grabs the phone to chatter away to him. He has a vague recollection of her from when Iñigo and Nuria wed. Gael gets a bit jealous of her effusive banter with Bruno and starts to leave then comes back for a passionate kiss.
Zac and Aitana text about the missing photos. Mateo comes into Mom's room. Aitana gives him Mom's pill box on some pretext, leaves the room to talk to the doctor but puts the hank of hair on the pillow of the chair Eloisa uses so that Mateo sees it.
Well that was a short lived we are novios! Gael puts his foot in his mouth and accuses Ceci of flirting with Bruno. She kicks him out.
Eloisa, Larissa and Michaela discuss Nuria as the wedding planner. Eloisa is convinced Nuria will mess it up. Larissa claims she felt sorry for her she needs work. Michaela is snooty and says Iñigo treated her like a queen, she doesn't need to work. Mica sure does get away with a lot as Eloisa's personal maid.
Mateo calls the Dr demanding explanations but the DR tells him to talk to mom. The only thing he can say is he is doing everything possible to treat her illness. Mateo tracks mom down in the garden demanding to know where does she have cancer.
Larisa comes downstairs with the dress box and goes out the door. ( I haven't figured out if she has her own place or is staying at the main house) . Iñigo follows as Aitana comes down and sees him. Time to eavesdrop again.
Eloisa points to her head. Stage 4. Mateo is horrified. That's a death sentence, mama.
Iñigo gets rough with Larisa. He's mad she is hiring Nuria, whose only job is to look after his girls (and him). Larissa fights back and notices Aitana watching them. They ask her why are you spying. Aitana says she didn't see anything, Eloisa misplaced her glasses and I came out to look in the car (I think). The dress box has fallen on the ground when Iñigo grabbed Larisa. Meanwhile Luciano is looking for Larisa as Michaela tells him she saw her go out to her car. Luciano sees the 3 at her car and wonders what's up, your dress! Larisa hurries to put the lid back on the box and put it in her hatch (can't have bad luck).
Eloisa tells Mateo to keep her secret until at least after the wedding. He's not happy. His brothers deserve to know.
Funny scene as Iñigo and Larisa make excuses about there proximity, with Aitana backing them up. Luciano tells Larisa everything is in order to sign the papers to be in business with Papa. They drive off.
Michaela and clementina argue about coffee in the kitchen. Is Micaela dating some guy? Juventino brings his intact paycheck to Clementina. I guess he's been spending it where he shouldn't. Michaela tells him to make himself useful and go buy coffee.
Iñigo wonders why Aitana helped cover for him and Larisa. She says for his mother, it would not be good for her if her son's fight. Oh great. Now Iñigo is hitting on her! She looks like she wants to puke! Oh wait, it's not actually hitting on her, he wants to know something.
Mateo chews Aitana out. She defends herself with Eloisa saying she followed my orders.
Nuria speaks with her lawyer on the phone. She thinks a restraining order is too drastic. He reinstated her CC, and she got a job!
Mateo has flashbacks to happy days with mom. He's taking her diagnosis hard.
Zac and Aitana have a confab in the stables. She needs copies of Mateo's keys so she can find the photos. She also tells him about Iñigo getting rough with Larisa.
Luciano is off to sign papers. Larisa and Iñigo argue about Aitana being a threat (Iñigo doesn't think she is so her plan to kill him is working). Larisa points out that canceling Nuria's cc proves the point that she needs a job and independence.
Zac asks Aitana if she has had therapy. Years of it, it's done no good. He suggests time will heal all wounds. She says it been 18 years....
Iñigo congratulates Larisa on getting Luciano to invest in Dad's company. She says she had nothing to do with it. He then calls her out on it, your dad owes millions. She begs him to say nothing. He agrees but it will cost her as he eyes her up and down
Sara screams at Carlos on the phone accusing him of being the guilty one! Who told you that he snarls? Sister Celeste! Carlos denies but a hyped-up Sara believes the nun. Carlos quickly tires of her histrionics saying he will recover Andres himself! He then makes a call.
Juan David checks in on Angelina who is doing fine. He solicitously removes her tray…
“Carolina” Madre Gustava calls as she enters her room. Carolina is in bed moping and the Madre won’t have it. She tells her to get dressed and meet her outside.
The doctor tells Lucia she can be released! Franco and Rosalia are with her.
Carolina, dressed in black, meets Madre who brings her to the wall she was asked to paint. The good madre is not without sympathy and grasps Carolina’s hands tightly in encouragement before she leaves.
Juan David is abandoning his quest for the president of the municipality, telling Father Gabriel that his family and his girls are the most important things. The good padre argues he must think of the future and that includes becoming president. Lo siento Juan David answers; his decision is final. The padre looks thoughtful.
Rosalia brings Lucia to Franco and Lucas’. Lucia doesn’t want to put Lucas out but she is reassured that is not a problem. Rosalia leads her to the bedroom and Franco tenderly puts her in bed covering her with a blanket. Rosalia kisses her friend on her head and then Franco on his cheek before leaving. Franco ask Lucia if she wants water; she does and as he goes to get it, Lucia sobs on her pillow.
Angelina is talking with the father as she starts to get out of bed. She won’t have Juan David give up on his dreams. He hands her the address book and she reaches for the phone. Operation “save Juan David’s candidacy” has begun in earnest.
Back in her office, Rosalia starts gagging. Viewerville immediately senses why and our intuition is validated as Rosalia goes straight for a pregnancy test!
Sara calls Carlos and apologizes☹ although for the life of me I can’t add anything further. What a disappointment although not a surprise.
Rosalia paces and picks up the test. Two red bars appeared. Tears fall down her face as she says, “it’s positive”.
Diana
Juan David is trying to work when the silence is pierced by chants of “Cárcamo”. All of a sudden, his phone blows up, getting call after call. He keeps telling everyone he has given up his candidacy but the public is clamoring for him! Father Gabriel tries to light a fire under him but Juan David is in denial. They go outside where Doris and Cárcamo are firing up a small crowd! But they aren’t alone! Nearby, Gloria is standing (with an umbrella) talking to her semi adoring audience. All of a sudden, Juan David’s fire catches! He grabs the bullhorn and it’s on baby! The smiling crowd starts clapping and cheering!
Carolina is attacking her painting job with abandon. Cool nun comes up as Carolina makes a determined face.
A worried Lucas checks on Rosalia who is still in bed. Are you ill he asks concernedly?
Juan David and Father Gabriel tell a delighted Angelina the race is still on! Juan David gets emotional as all smile in support and enthusiasm. Your plan went perfectly Father Gabriel later tells Angelina.
Lucas is beside himself with happiness as Rosalia tells him to keep it down. She wants to keep it quiet for now. He reassures her everything will be fine but she is clearly emotional. He cannot contain his happiness at being a father.
Oscar is putting the boys to bed as sad Carolina calls him. How are you he asks? Madre Gustava is keeping her occupied she replies as he smiles. He gets her laughing but then she gets a bit teary eyed. Although she puts up a brave front, Oscar’s radar is on alert. “Carolina are you all right” he asks sensing something is amiss. He tells her to have patience. He tells her a surprise is arriving for her tomorrow! They end up with him telling her he loves her.
At breakfast, Lucia thanks Lucas for letting her stay there. You are family he tells her. Lucia has misgivings about the situation with Franco but Rosalia and Lucas reassure her.
Carolina is still painting away. To alleviate boredom, she paints a heart on the wall when cool nun arrives with a box for Carolina. She opens it and there is nest of shredded paper. She plays a voice mail from Oscar as she removes chocolates, a fragrant sprig and a picture of Oscar and the boys. She inhales the scent of the sweatshirt, the last item she removes.
Sara, the traitor arrives and talks with Oscar, the boys coming up behind him. They are rarin’ to go and plead with him; unfortunately he capitulates. Gracias she says as he stares sternly.
Carolina offers her newly arrived lawyer a chocolate. One look at her face instantly reveals something is terribly amiss. I only caught a few words which were not sufficient to hazard a guess as to what transpired. I will kindly ask you to fill in Jarifa. I will say Carolina looked shocked as she started yelling. Eventually she seemed to hyperventilate. The lawyer urges her to keep calm as Carolina loses control, hysterical, holding her head. She starts running as her lawyer holds her. I’m innocent Carolina screams to a group of nuns passing by, led by Madre Gustava. Then, Carolina faints dead away on the stone floor.☹
Diana
Thank you for letting the boys accompany me Sara tells Oscar. She laughs as she takes the boys.
How is the most beautiful woman in Monteverde Franco asks as he enters Lucia’s bedroom. He has bought thoughtful gifts to keep her occupied, books and games.
Sara and the boys ARE actually bird watching. Andres talks about his parents, as Sara pumps him for information. He reveals his mother is away he clearly misses her. She rounds them up saying their time is almost up.
Mother Gustava calls Celeste asking if she is at Oscar’s. No, I’m at the posada she answers. Carolina is not doing well, she is having a crisis the good madre explains. A worried Celeste immediately starts packing.
Gloria is at Angelina’s bedside carping about Juan David’s candidacy then whining about her candidacy. As usual, Gloria makes it all about her and leaves as Angelina rolls her eyes.
Father Gabriel and Juan David brainstorm; Juan David seems to come up with a(nother) good idea which I couldn’t understand.
Like a good doobie, Sara ensures the boys are brought home on time to mollify Oscar. Blech. Celeste arrives, asking to talk with Oscar alone. Sara and the boys leave. Is everything all right he asks? No, Carolina is mal is her retort. Que he stammers.
Gloria cries to Manuel about her relationship with her daughter; she says she is putting Juan David before her. Manuel comforts her.
Oscar is told Carolina is going through a “nervous” crisis. He wants to call her but Celeste stops him saying she is going there to be with Carolina. He wants to go as well but Celeste reminds him about Andres. Oscar sits down and says of course she is right; he has to stay there for him.
Carolina lies stonily in bed as the sweet nun sitting with her talks to her. The nun brings over the chocolates but they don’t work as Carolina remains emotionless. However, when she brings over the picture of Oscar and boys, she takes it as well as the sweatshirt that she holds close as she curls up in bed, tears falling.
Sister Celeste arrives at the convent and Madre Gustave says she will take her to Carolina right away.
Diana
Andres tells Oscar his mother isn’t answering the phone. He asks Oscar for his phone but Oscar declines. He tells Andres his mother is busy but OK.
In the last scene of the evening, Madre Gustava and Sister Celeste enter Carolina’s room. Celeste asks the nun about the photo and then she and Madre Gustava depart, leaving Celeste with her sister. Celeste sits on the bed and rubs her twin’s arm supportively. Carolina wakes up as Celeste tells her to be calm as she holds her tightly; Carolina teary-eyed and defeated.
My heart went out to Carolina tonight. She has tried so hard to be upbeat and positive but it appears hope has abandoned her, just when she needs it most.
I will be very curious to learn what Carlos said to Sara to get her to change her mind. What a rat!
I am happy Rosalia is pregnant…
On a positive note, I really like the way all of the nuns in this have been portrayed as kind and caring.
Andres’ abduction is imminent. I wish they would just get it over with so he can be rescued and back in Carolina’s arms. Her being proven innocent can’t come quickly enough for me.
Diana
Happy that Zac asked the obvious question about whether Aitana had sought therapy after the trauma! I am watching and my Spanish is good—but I doze off, even at the early hour. Sigh. Thanks again, Kat!
Thank you, Diana.
Carlos tells Sara that of course Celeste, Carolina's SISTER, would say Carolina was innocent and blame him. Sara insists that Celeste is a nun and wouldn't
lie.
Carlos calls somebody to find a person whois working for Carolina. He will pay him.
Juan David is cooking up a storm for Angelina. She is getting picadillo and lentils for dinner. He made her eggs for breakfast. He is there to literally serve her!
Mother Gustava has a job for Carolina that will keep her mind and body busy!!
She has 5 minutes to meet her on the patio.
The good father tries to encourage Juan David to keep running for president by reminding him if he doesn't run, Cárcamo!!! could end up with the office or, even worse, his MOTHER-IN-LAW??? The good father is in particular wary of Gloria and her plans but Juan David cannot be convinced.
Lucía will be staying in Franco's room at Lucas'.
Carlos smirks as Sara apologizes and he readily accepts it. She admits that she just got carried away with what Celeste was telling her. He says he thought what she was saying to him was odd. She insists that she won't let that happen again and he can count on her. He is so grateful to her. She is the first person who hasn't turned their back on him. She has no idea how grateful he is. All he wants is to get his son back and he is sure she will make that happen and is so appreciative . . .
Cool nun brings Carolina a glass of water. She finally leaves when Carolina tells her to since Carolina says she keeps saying the same thing over and over again.
Gloria is making references to Argentina in her stump speech. Gabriel reminds her they are not in Argentina and she is not Eva Perón. Hearing her angers Juan David. he tells the good father that the candidates are only thinking of themselves and not the rest of them! Gloria continues telling the crowd that they will bring her victory (victoria) and she will bring them glory (gloria). That last statement propels Juan David to snatch the megaphone from her hand after telling her he doesn't approve of what she is telling the crowd.
Angelina is sad she couldn't have been there to have seen Juan David in action. He says she WAA there as he pats his heart! After feeling the support and the warmth from the town's people, he knows it is his duty to represent them!
Rosalía is apprehensive about her new pregnancy after what happened with her first one. She FINALLY talks Lucas, who seems to not understand, into keeping it between them for now.
Oscar is sending Carolina a gift so she feels like he is by her side, near her.
Lucía is worried about putting Franco through so much dealing with her illness. Now she has to have chemo which will be even worse. Rosalía tells her not to think like that. Franco loves her. He will be glued to her side. Lucas assures her that he and Rosalía will not abandon her either. Lucía is grateful. Rosalía reminds her what Lucas said: she is family. She is sure she would do the same for any of them.
Oscar has sent Carolina chocolate to remind her that their love is sweet; a sprig of pine from Monteverde that looks small and defenseless but is as strong as she is; some stones as a symbol of the home he wants to build with her; a photo of him and the boys so she can see their new family; and finally something that belongs to him (the sweatshirt) that she can embrace when she sleeps and dreams about him. Carolina smiles, caresses the sweatshirt and sniffs it.
The lawyer has bad news. The cybernetic investigator has disappeared. He isn't answering his phone and nobody answered the door at his house. The problem is that he is the only one who knows how to access the content of the account that Carlos opened in Barbados with the money from the fraud. It is as if the earth swallowed him up. Without that evidence, they are worse than they were at the start. Without that evidence, they cannot show her innocence and she can be found guilty.
Before the boys leave with Sara, Oscar warns them to beware of strangers out there. Moisés says no worries, they never see anyone where they are going. Sara assures him, she will take cafe of them. He wats them back in two hours.
The lawyer informs a distraught Carolina that the USB that she was keeping in her office also disappeared. This was all planned. Carolina is sure that Carlos had something to do with this all. The lawyer agrees but without that evidence they have NOTHING. Carolina cannot deal with going to jail and no she cannot calm down because it just keeps getting worse and worse. Why does she have to pay for what she didn't do? The lawyer reminds her that she signed the papers that Carlos gave her and that she is the legal representative of the company. Carolina is hysterical thinking of having to go back to jail which is like hell to her. The lawyer says they have to find somebody else that has the information they need but it will take time. That does nothing to console a fed up and lost Carolina. The lawyer says she understands. Carolina screams she doesn't understand a thing. Carolina sometimes has nightmares about all she went through in jail and refuses to be brought back there. She has had it and is leaving the convent. As she moves to the door, the lawyer tells her to stay. Carolina doest give a damn. She cannot deal with it any more. She is out of there. The lawyer grabs her and asks her to get herself under control. Carolina screams for her to let her go and the nuns arrive on the scene. Carolina repeats she is innocent and didn't do anything. She cannot take anymore. She faints.
Andrés wishes like he were like the birds and with his family. He explains his family situation to Sara. His mother is in Mexico City dealing with a problem and his father is a bad person because he has hurt him and his mom a lot. (Geez, he is more measured and appropriate in talking about his mother than Celeste was when she told Sara, a virtual stranger, all about Carolina's business)
Mother Gustava tells Celeste how bad Carolina is dong after finding out that the evidence they had to prove her innocence disappeared and knowing she has to start from zero to prove her innocence one more time .No, a phone call will not help. Carolina is in a crisis state. She fainted. They gave her a tranquilizer. It would be good for Celeste to come and see her. Carolina has been very depressed. This was the straw that broke the camel's back. Celeste is on her way.
Juan David says if he becomes the president, he wants to run a contest so the most qualified people fill the vacancies in Monteverde's government. The good father likes the idea but first Juan David has to win the election!!! Juan David is going to stay away from the loud rallies. He is doing a silent campaign: going door to door! The good father approves but will not be coming with him lest people think there is divine intervention which there isn't but he tells him to go with God anyway. When Juan David is gone, the good father thanks God for enlightening him.
Celeste tells Oscar that the evidence showing Carolina's innocence has disappeared. Oscar thinks that Carolina needs a new lawyer like yesterday. Celeste is more concerned about her sister's state of mind right now. She is going to leave for Mexico City. Oscar wants to come, too, but then decides he can't because Celeste reminds him that he needs to take care of Andrés. She is also uncomfortable because she is sure that Carlos had something to do with the disappearance of their cybernetic investigator. Carlos is getting information somehow (DUH!) and she doesn't; want to risk him coming for Andrés and Oscar not being there. Oscar agrees and tells her that he will pay for her to fly to Mexico City so she gets there today.
Mother Gustava tells Celeste that she hasn't been able to get Carolina to eat anything. She is clearly out of it. They go to see her.
Andrés is worried about his mother since she is not answering her phone and his aunt went to Mexico City. Oscar says Celeste went to Mexico City to take care of nun business.
"Loose lips sink ships" True back then and still true today!
Diana, I also felt terrible for Carolina. What a blow! Who wouldn't want to just sleep it all away?
Lucas annoyed me when he couldn't understand how nervous Rosalía was about another pregnancy but again it happened to her and her body and not him.
I fear that Carlos is going to meet up with Sara and the boys on of their outing and Andrés will be snatched while Moisés will be left behind as a witness to tell the tale.
More later.
Kat, thank you for the recap. I must say that I was getting a kick out of Larissa going up and down the stairs carrying that big, white box.. Are we supposed o believe that Larissa really cares about Nuria?
Inigio is scary,, as is Mateo, who stood there fuming at Aitana with his fists twitching . Big, crazy baby . Susan
Jarifa, I savored every single syllable of what was a sensational short story in and of itself. I went through a full gamut of emotions from outrage, to anger, to pity, to sadness. You are such a gifted writer.
I loved "Gloria is making references to Argentina in her stump speech. Gabriel reminds her they are not in Argentina and she is not Eva Perón"! Thank you for this gem and many others you peppered throughout.
Carlos' flimsy excuse that of course Carolina's sister would naturally stick up for her was weak and meritless. Sara ignoring Andres telling her directly that "his father is a bad person because he has hurt him and his mom a lot" was unforgiveable. She deserves a severe punishment if she continues with the heinous crime of assisting in taking a child from his mother.
Carolina's heartbreaking outbursts were so sad to watch! She has tried to be so brave but the walls are closing in and she is helpless and now, hopeless.
This was lovely and deserves to be repeated in its entirety:"Oscar has sent Carolina chocolate to remind her that their love is sweet; a sprig of pine from Monteverde that looks small and defenseless but is as strong as she is; some stones as a symbol of the home he wants to build with her; a photo of him and the boys so she can see their new family; and finally something that belongs to him (the sweatshirt)"...Who knew Oscar was so romantic?
So glad Juan David is back in action! He is truly a man of the people.
Jarifa, I was also frustrated that Lucas just couldn't grap how Rosalia is feeling about becoming pregnant again after such a short time. That said, I blanched at "Lucía is worried about putting Franco through so much dealing with her illness. Now she has to have chemo..." Lucia is worried about HIM?? It is she whose mind and body are going to be further ravaged by her treatment. Coupled with what she has gone through thus far, I had to shake my head.
I could go on and on but I will wrap things up by saying this was incredible Jarifa. I cannot thank you enough.
Diana
Thanks Clara, your comments were really helpful. And thanks Kat, for last night’s recap. Yes, Larissa has her own place. Guess she can’t fool around with Inigo at the family house!
Michaela is something else. Not as bad as the family but just as snooty. She seems to look down on all the help. And she thinks Inigo treated Nuria like a queen that’s not what any of us would think. And she must know how Eloisa treated her too. Like a second class citizen.
I enjoyed the car scene. Too bad Luciano didn’t get there a little sooner.
Bruno is not supposed to be making outside calls. If he gets caught I be,ieve he’s out of the program.
Thanks, Diana and Jarifa, you both did an excellent job. It was funny when Juan David seemed to realize he was the right one for the job and grabbed the bullhorn from Gloria. I’m assuming she was reciting a speech made by someone in Argentina. She probably got it off the internet.
Poor Angelina. She’s supposed to be resting and stress free. Gloria brings nothing but stress to her.
I think Celeste gave too much information to Sarah. And Sarah reported it to Carlos. I was sure she was on the side of good, but Carlos had no trouble convincing her the nun had lied. Meanwhile, Carlos had someone get rid of all the information. I’m hoping our detective, who was never payed by Carlos, decides to help Caroline.
I feel so bad for Lucia. She’s lucky to have the friends she has. Although I’ve never been too fond of Lucas. I hope he can keep Rosalia’s pregnancy a secret.
Is Rosalia’s dad ever going to reappear?
Thank you Liz!
You are right in that Padilla was never paid. Because of that, I wouldn't think Carlos would ask him to steal the evidence but... At one point, I thought Padilla might end up helping Carolina and become a resident of Monteverde. Perhaps that might happen.
I've been asking the same thing about Nestor. His leaving and not telling Rosalia was callous. Not only that, Eva never returned to check on Franco! With a dwindling number of shows left, they better return if it is their intention to do so :)
Diana
Celeste, who has arrived to give comfort to her devastated sister, gently begs her to be calm but Carolina is inconsolably crying on her bed. How is Carolina Oscar texts? Celeste tells him she is asleep….
Sara brags to Carlos that she is earning Oscar’s trust and that she will soon kidnap Andres! He smiles evilly as he discusses part two of their plan.
Oscar calls the next day, very concerned; however it is Celeste he speaks with. They talk about a new lawyer.
Rosalia helps Lucia get comfortable in bed as she yawns, clearly tired. Lucia seems to take notice as Rosalia grabs her bag and heads out.
Erika wants to talk to Oscar about the possibility of her staying in the vacant house. Oscar agrees! She is ecstatic and grabs his hands making him a bit uncomfortable. You are Moises’ mother and deserve to be happy. She wants them to give Moises the good news together.
Andres complains to Moises that he doesn’t understand why his mother is busy and can’t talk with him. Celeste spins some yarn about his mother’s lawyer. He is afraid she will go to jail; Celeste assures him she is safe at the convent. He gives her a rather downhearted “adios Tia”.
Celeste urges a despondent Carolina to have coffee. Then she imparts incredible news sure to lighten Carolina’s heart and soul. Celeste tells Carolina she needs to return to Monteverde, but not as Carolina but as Sister Celeste!
Erika and Oscar tell Moises the news; Moises rushes forward to hug Oscar saying he is the best padrino! There is also a heartfelt hug for Erika…
Carolina is transformed, wearing a smile, her joyous persona returned. Celeste warns her she is not to tell anyone who she is. Carolina says being with Oscar and Andres will be like a dream. You are the best sister in the world.
Angelina is rubbing her stomach as Juan David comes in. She manages to bend over and pick up a letter from the floor the contents of which I did not understand. Juan David says something is impossible as Angelina talks about the impact this will have on her twin “Jennifers”.
Diana
Carolina gently tells her sister that in order to pull off the “swap”, she is going to have to be a bit more like her and smile. Celeste gives a forced teeth clenched effort which is not at all genuine as Carolina tries to be more like her sterner slightly more religious sister.
Juan David talks about Manuel as Angelina starts to breathe erratically. He tells her she needs to lie down but she refuses. She starts to hyperventilate as he takes her to the hospital.
The sisters are acting as (fractured) mirror images of each other practicing as Madre Gustava and cool nun come in. I had to laugh as both are doing such a poor job of portraying the other. Madre Gustava looks a bit concerned as she gives Sister “Celeste” a goodbye speech. The sisters hug each other and as the Madre calls “Carolina” it takes more than a second for Celeste to respond. Cool nun talks to Celeste who gives her a huge hug much to her surprise! After she leaves, Carolina jumps up and down with glee.
Franco shows Lucas pictures of Mariana who is adorable in her tiny pink outfit. Lucas is suitably impressed and Franco says something about Lucas having kids but then quickly apologizes for his insensitivity. For once, Lucas doesn’t spill any tea and simply smiles to himself.
Andres talks to Moises about his mother being busy.
Oscar calls Celeste who has to contain her enthusiasm and remember she IS Carolina pretending to be Celeste. She flubs up a bit saying something flirtatious but covers up, her face alight with glee.
Madre talks to a still painting Carolina (who is really Celeste) as Oscar calls her. She stands lips apart with a smile as Oscar “love” talks about hugging her, making her clearly uncomfortable. Madre Gustava is standing there listening then questioning her. She gives her the side eye as she walks away.
Erika is already making herself at home as Moises (with Andres in the background) smiles away.
Accompanied by the doctor, Juan David wheels Angelina out of the patient area. Father Gabriel immediately asks about the contractions but the doctor corrects him. It isn’t contractions, it is gastrointestinal upset from what Angelina has been eating! The doctor assures them she is fine. Gloria takes advantage of the situation to urge Juan David to withdraw his candidacy. They both argue over who is going to wheel Angelina out of the hospital. Peacemaker Father Gabriel takes the reins.
As “Celeste” returns to the inn she gives Trinidad a hug (to her surprise) and quickly realizes her mistake. “Hermana” Erika effuses as she runs in. I have marvelous news; I am going to live at Oscar’s. Que “Celeste” says but as Erika clarifies what she means “Celeste” immediately softens. “Celeste” goes into her room while many miles away, back at the convent, “Carolina” leans against the wall, exhausted. They talk as “Celeste” tells her sister she is at the posada.
Diana
Moises and Franco catch up with Franco and Lucas, Moises telling Franco about Erika moving into the house. Oscar is afraid Franco will be upset but he isn’t and is in fact happy.
Angelina is brought to Manuel’s and sits in a chair, Juan David holding her hand. A man comes in, identifying himself as Ricardo with paperwork which I gather pertain to the loan Manuel took out on Juan David’s behalf. Highly agitated Manuel has to sign papers and at one point, actually makes a threatening move toward Juan David.
How is Carolina Oscar asks “Celeste”. She is fine she answers as she tries to walk ramrod straight.
Alone with Oscar, all of a sudden, “Celeste” removes her habit, and smilingly walks forward almost purring saying “Oscar it is me.” Pure joy envelops him as he smiles and kisses Carolina.
Hugo, Juanita, Gloria, Father Gabriel, Juan David and Anglina discuss the money owed; Manuel is angry and upset. I’m unsure if Gloria has something to do with what is transpiring as she cries and looks guilty throughout the scene as Hugo comforts his uncle.
Oscar voices his doubts about what has transpired but Carolina says Celeste has taken her place at the convent. He is shocked but pleased. He starts talking about a lawyer and she stops him. He is so happy she is there with him as they kiss.
Madre Gustava checks on “Carolina’s” progress in painting the wall, complimenting her on her work. As “Carolina” continues to talk, the jig is quickly up as she knows it is Celeste she sees before her, not Carolina!
In the last scene of the evening, Andres comes out and hugs his “tia”. Another truth is revealed as Carolina reveals herself to her beloved son as the two grin ear to ear as they hug.
I hope the quotes are helpful in clearly denoting when one sister is pretending to be the other (?)
Loved that the twins switched places but had to laugh as both are doing a terrible job of trying to emulate each other’s personalities and mannerisms which are so very different! 😊
I vaguely remember Manuel cosigned and/or took out a loan to help Juan David; did Juan David default on payment? Jarifa, I appreciate your clarifying what happened (and thank you in advance).
I’m on pins and needles waiting for Sara to make her move…
Diana
Thank you, Diana.
Celeste texts Oscar that Carolina has been very affected by what is going on. She has never seen her like this. She will talk to him tomorrow.
Oscar has spoken with the lawyer and they are looking for a a new cybernetic investigator. He wants to talk to Carolina. Celeste says if she is better when she wakes up, she will have her call him. Celeste has never seen her sister as bad as she is right now and is worried. Oscar asks her not to let her guard down. She assures him she could never do that. He asks her to call him when Carolina is awake.
Rosalía tells Lucía that her wound is healing nicely. Lucía tells her that the doctor said when she is fully healed, they can start her chemo. Rosalía apologizes for having to leave but she has been having trouble catching up on her sleep. Lucía apologizes thinking it is because of her. Rosalía smiles and says she would do it a thousand times over for her. She will catch up on her sleep in a few days. She goes to lie down for a while.
Oscar refuses to rent the cabin to Erika. She can live there and not pay him a thing.
Celeste finally tells tells Andrés the truth. His mother got so upset by bad news from the lawyer that they gave her some medicine to help her sleep. No they did not send her back to jail. She assures him that as soon as his mother is able, she will have her call him.
Oscar explains to Erika that Moisés has always wanted to live near her and if it is in his power to make that happen, why wouldn't he do it? She grabs his hands, much to his surprise, and tells him he is the best man she has ever known. He is an angel. He insists it is no big deal. She disagrees and adds that she is never gong to be able to thank him enough for everything he has done for her. He answers there is no need. She is Moisés' mother and this will make him very happy. Oscar informs her that the cabin is filled with all sort of stuff and needs to be cleaned out. He will have Agustín help her. She refuses wanting to do it on her own.
Celeste gives her sister two conditions on her trip back to Monteverde. She can only tell Andrés and Oscar who she is and she needs to be back at the convent in four days. She is to go to Monteverde, recharge her battery and come back.
Carolina thinks they will be the best four days of her life. There is one more thing. Carolina needs to keep her cool when she gets back until her innocence can be proven. Carolina loses her smile and adds or until they put her in jail. Celeste scolds her for being a pessimist. Those days in Monteverde better change her attitude! Carolina still cannot believe she is gong to Monteverde. It is a dream come true. That is the attitude that Celeste wants to see! She better not fail her!!! Carolina thinks she is the best sister in the world.
Angelina finds an envelope on the floor. She opens it and is shocked by the contents. It is about the loan that they took out for the wedding. Juan David owes three payments! This is a seizure of property order! Juan David says that is impossible . In order for them to do this, they had to send him a warning. Why didn't they do that? Angelina doesn't want to hear that. She (and me) want to know why he didn't make the payments. He admits he made some monthly payments but didn't some others. With all of her mother's whims, he didn't have enough money to pay the loan. It had to be one thing or the other. Angelina asks about his tips. He says they used that to buy their baby supplies. She is upset that now they are going to take everything away. He says they will lose nothing but Manuel will. She doesn't get it. He tells her that Manuel is their co-signer. She is beyond upset. He tells her to go to bed and he will make an arrangement with the bank. She wants to go talk to Manuel but has to stop due to pain in her abdomen.
Mother Gustavo is having a hard time believing that "Carolina" has improved so much from the day before. She tells "Celeste" that she thinks that Carolina has something up her sleeve. . . "Celeste" tries to rid her of her doubts.
Moisés explains to Andrés that he still will be living with Oscar but he will be able to go sleep at his mother's whenever he wants. Andrés can come, too! Andrés is worried about not being able to talk to his mother.
Mother Gustava is beginning to have doubts since when Carolina talks to Oscar, usually her whole face changes. She didn't see that this time. She was very strange and short with hm. Carolina explains that she was so involved in painting the wall . . .
The doctor declares excess gas, caused by pressure on the intestines from the pregnancy, as the cause of Angelina's pain. She needs to avoid legumes: like beans, lentils, garbanzo beans. The babies are fine. There is nothing to worry about. Her pain has nothing to do with stress this time even though it seems that Gloria would like it to be.
Franco tells Oscar that seeing his little brother so happy is priceless.
Ricardo Báez is from the Fiscal Court in Zacatillo. He needs to certify that Manuel is the co-signer of Juan David. Manue says he is and wants know what the issue is. Ricardo tells him he is giving him a seizure of property notification since he is Juan David's co-signer. Manuel, in shock, slowly turns his head to look at Juan David who cannot meet his eye.
Manuel asks Juan David if he didn't make the payments that they agreed to. Juan David says he did make some of the payments but then the situation got away from him. He promises Manuel that he will fix the situation. He will go talk to the bank so they can lend him a hand. Gloria starts (being her obnoxious self ) asking him how he could do this to her husband. The good father asks her to not throw more fuel on the fire. Juan David doesn't understand how they were not sent any warnings Ricardo says he was sent three warnings. Angelina says that is not true. She takes in the mail and they never saw them. Gloria looks GUILTY suddenly. Ricardo apologizes saying he is only doing his job. He will be gone as soon as Manuel signs the notification. If they want to restructure their debt, they need to go to their offices in Zacatillo within 10 days. Manuel signs and is ready to pummel Juan David but Hugo stops him.
An unbelievably calm and serious Gloria tells Juan David to take Angelina home. She has to talk to her husband alone. Juan David declares that he is the one who is at fault and not Manuel. Gloria says that is clear so it is up to her and her husband to find a solution since Juan David is unable to. Juan David tells her not to treat him like she does. If he didn't make the payments it is because all of the expenses that were made lately . . . Juan David knows they owe 50,000 pesos plus 6,000 pesos in interest for the three missed payments.
($3,171.25) Manuel still wants to punch him out but they all hold him back. Juan David promises he will find a way to take care of the situation and leaves with Angelina.
Manuel asks Gloria what they are going to do. She ADMITS that she has to share in the blame. When she was living with Angelina and Juan David , she threw out anything left laying around including mail. She is sure she threw out the payment warnings. She dissolves into tears. (have I ever said how I cannot stand Gloria? Second time in two days?) Hugo says she cannot blame herself. (really?) She answers maybe not but she cannot help but feel responsible, too.
Manuel is distraught and cannot believe this is happening . As he sobs, Hugo tells him it will all work out.
Celeste finishes a quote from scripture that Mother Gustava starts . . . and then stops herself realizing what she is doing. Mother Gustava wants to know since when does she have passages memorized from the Bible if she barely knew the Our Father before. As she tries to explain Mother Gustava tells her she is not Carolina but Celeste!! Celeste answers her with a crooked smile and a shrug.
Jarifa, stellar as always. Your wise observations and wry wit never fail to delight and enlighten.Your level of detail, especially regarding the loan (not to mention the exact amounts owed) was incredible. Your entire summary was an example of excellence start to finish.
"Celeste finishes a quote from scripture that Mother Gustava starts . . . and then stops herself realizing what she is doing. Mother Gustava wants to know since when does she have passages memorized from the Bible if she barely knew the Our Father before. As she tries to explain Mother Gustava tells her she is not Carolina but Celeste!! Celeste answers her with a crooked smile and a shrug" was perfectly expressed; pure platinum and added so much!
So Carolina is only there for four days. Seemingly so little time but enough to shake things up! I am smiling wondering how quickly she might give herself away! It was so kind of Celeste to give her sister the gift of time with Andres and Oscar.
I'm nonplussed that Juan David disregarded the consequences of not making the loan payments! Whatever was he thinking??? And poor Manuel! However will they repay the money? Father Gabriel perhaps?? So Gloria WAS guilty of throwing out the overdue payment notices! I'm done with her...truly.
All this while Sara lies in wait like a snake in the grass ready to pounce.
Jarifa, thank you, thank you.
Diana
Also, once word leaks out about the loan default, presuming the real reason (Juan David) becomes clear, why would anyone have confidence that he could handle the municialities' finances when he can't even manage his own??
Diana
Didn’t Gloria admit to throwing out their mail? Juan David didn't receive the bank notices. He should have wondered, perhaps, but MIL is also guilty.

I’ll try to give the gist of some convos that might have been hard to follow. Highlights without much detail.
Zac questioned Luciano about his intentions with Aitana, from the kiss to “do you want to sleep with her?”
Luciano snapped “ubícate” literally “locate yourself,” meaning WTF?
Iñigo threatened Aitana with job loss if not discreet. He is curious why she covered for him with Luciano.
Financial deal signing. Larisa was surprised to learn Luciano had invested from his personal account. Luciano said the earnings will be her wedding present, ha.
Bruno wants to know if Aitana is seeing anyone and wants out of rehab.
Clementina asked Aitana for advice on how to manage constant conflict with Juventino about money. He showed up with a stack of unwanted kitchen appliances. Advice: improve communication.
Ximena is “there”for creepy Mateo if he wants to talk about what’s bothering him. He can count on her. His red eyes have been noticed.
Iñigo expressed doubt to Mom about the financial deal, but Mom is confident Luciano fully analyzed the deal.
Aitana was very coy and flirty drawing out Iñigo about getting back with Nuria. She said she had lost a lover because she had been unfaithful! She asked him for intimate details about when he and Nuria were first together. Iñigo ultimately said Aitana had helped clarify some things, and she should have been a psychologist!
Nuria asked JuanJo if it’s hard to live alone. Yes, it is.

Thanks, Diana. This was another good one. ITA that Juan David should have been making his payments and stood up to Gloria and Angelina when it came to all of the spending. Unbelievable that Gloria would just throw out whatever. Too bad she cannot go back from where she came from. It will be interesting to see how Juan David will solve his debt problem. Poor Manuel being let down like he was. I hope we have a nice peaceful happy snappy episode tonight before Carlos raises his ugly head.
Thanks, Diana and Jarifa. I enjoyed reading both recaps. Gloria is also the one that put Juan David over his head in debt. She made him overspend for the wedding and when she was living with them he had to spend money on the house. I think she bought a tv and some other stuff for her room. Throwing mail away is a federal offense, if it’s not yours. I have never been able to tolerate Gloria, it’s all about her!
I’m glad Caroline gets four days. I hope she leaves when she’s supposed to! I wonder if she’ll be there when Sara makes her move! Silly woman, I wonder if this is her first “boyfriend”. I hope when he gets arrested she does too. And I’m also on the edge of my seat wondering if this is the time she grabs Andre’s!
Thanks Diana and Jarifa. I was tired last night so I went to bed early and watched this morning. I almost skipped as you both do such a good job.
ITA about Gloria. It's mostly her fault about the debt and throwing away the mail, but David should have stood up to her and not gone into debt in the first place. If he can't manage his own household he certainly isn't the man for the mayor position.
I'm sorry, I'm not in favor of the switcheroo again. Carolina just needs to stick it out, and she was in the wrong signing papers blindly. The mother Superior is one of my favorite characters.
Ok, Rosalia got herself knocked up again! Do they not have birth control available? As a doctor she isn't setting a good example. Aldo Lucia not informing her family also bothers me. Is medical free in Mexico because her non existent job won't pay the medical bills! She's going to have to marry Franco for a meal ticket .
Jarifa, I am also up for a little levity which is sorely needed. I'm sick of Gloria's entitled attitude! I can only think Father Gabriel might be able to help out with the loan (?)
Babachita, Gloria admitted she threw out the bills but only to Manuel. Juan David knew he was behind but failed to do anything about it .
Diana
Liz, thank you very much.
I appreciate your noting how "helpful" Gloria was in adding to the newlyweds debt. You are spot on in that yes, it IS (frustratingly) "always about her".
I agree in thinking Carolina will be there when Sara "attacks". It would be best if she were because we all know she would never stay at the convent upon hearing of his (anticipated) abduction!
Diana
Thanks for your nice words Kat. They are truly appreciated.
Yes, if Juan David "can't manage his own household he certainly isn't the man for the mayor position". Totally agree. I understand he wanted to be with Angelina but to quit his job when he had financial obligations in addition to his own, was foolhardy resulting in this devastating development.
Madre Gustava is a gem, isn't she?
Has Lucia mentioned being in contact with her family at all? I can only remember she called to say where she had landed after she left the wedding reception. Also, I hadn't realized Lucia doesn't have a job since she and Diego split. I don't think Franco was paying her to train that magnificent horse.
Diana
Kat and Clara, thank you for the recaps .
Looks like Bruno has fallen in love with Aitana and Luciano also. She is manipulating nasty Inigio. The only one who is successfully resisting her charms is BSC Mateo. Susan
