#21 part 1

Slight rewind of the garage fight aftermath.

Latif calls Kazim. Latif holds the phone and lets Halis know Kazim’s not home, but he’s not far away and will return immediately. I told him I’d fix this, Halis says, if he is back soon, that’s fine. Latif gets back on the line and tells Kazim they’re coming.

Kazim calls Hattuc to tell her Halis is coming. Hattuc is rattled. Why didn’t you tell me earlier? I have nothing prepared! I’m telling you now, Kazim replies, and tell that brainless Esme to dress nicely and not embarrass us. If Halis arrives before me, treat him properly. Hattuc worries, Allah Allah, of course he will get here before you… hurry! She hangs up and shouts for Esme.

Hattuc and Esme are as ready as they can be and wait by the door. Esme asks, is it good, Hala? Why would Halis Ağa come here? This is all Kazim’s doing, Hattuc answers, because I was so angry when I came to Istanbul.
The bell rings and Hattuc opens the door. Halis stands before her. You can tell there’s a lot of history behind those looks. Hoşgeldiniz Halis Ağa… buyrun… My pleasure, Hatice, Halis replies, and enters. Esme kisses his hand. Latif asks, where is the kitchen, I’ll make the coffee. No, Hattuc says, you sit, we are here. I’ll make the coffee for you, Ağa.

Hattuc makes coffee for herself and Halis. They sit, while Esme and Latif stand at a distance. Halis lifts his cup and inhales the aroma. A wisp of a smile and he says, before you drink coffee, you need to prepare. He takes a sip of water. [this is why water served with Turkish coffee.]

Hattuc signals for Esme and Latif to leave. Halis sips the coffee. He closes his eyes to savor. This is coffee, he remarks, I don’t know what to call what I drank before. Ellerine sağlık (health to your hands). She replies, afiyet olsun. I missed drinking your coffee, he tells her.

Halis asks, my family didn’t offer to hire help for you? Hattuc answers, since the old times we always handled the household ourselves. I know, Halis replies, but that’s not right. Let Kazim settle that with you, she says. But I didn’t come to see Kazim, he tells her. I came to see what kind of accommodation Orhan chose. Are you happy here?

No one can choose where they were born, Hattuc says, but you can choose where you die. I’d rather die in Antep than live in Istanbul. What are those words, Halis replies, may God protect you. He’s granted you good health. Yes, thank God, she answers but there’s no place like your own home.

I spoke with Kazim, Halis says, we’ll get the best place for you where you can be comfortable. And maybe… you’ll like it and stay. I appreciate it, Hattuc says. She sadly adds, when a person loses their taste for life, he just waits for it to end. I’m very patient and waited a lot. And because of that, I gave up many things. Why would I need a palace, Halis?

Halis asks, do you know what’s harder than waiting… and terrible to accept? It’s knowing someone is waiting for you. And you want to return, but you aren’t able. He struggles with his emotions. The heart burns, but the fire doesn’t go out. Even if you sink it in the deepest ocean. A tear falls from Hattuc. Halis gets up and calls for Latif. Call Kazim and tell him we have pressing matters. I must go, Hatice, he says, I’ve seen and heard what is needed. Let no one but you see me like this. She nods and wishes him good health.

#21 part 2

The Korhan boys take the Sanli girls shopping. Then it’s time for dinner and they arrive at the restaurant. Ferit holds his arm out for Seyran—karıcığım? Quit dreaming, she replies. Ferit snarks, if only you two were as pretty inside as on the outside, Seyro Hanim. She grabs her sister’s arm and proceeds. Ferit takes Abi aside, you should come in too, in case there’s a problem.
Suna is amazed at the place. Enjoy it while it lasts, Seyran tells her, tomorrow we go back to normal, full of problems.

Kazim is upset. He asks Hattuc if “this idiot” (Esme) ruined it. Tell the truth! I’m not lying, Hattuc insists, he came to see the place and when they called him, he left. Esme didn’t ruin anything. The why are you giving me this look, Kazim asks. Because it’s your fault, she snaps. I don’t know what you’re doing. I was ashamed to ask Halis Aga for what you wanted. This place isn’t enough for you? You asked for another house?

Hala, hala… Kazim shakes his head, they didn’t register this place to us. I thought you’d be more comfortable. You haven’t stopped complaining since we arrived here. Hold your tongue if it’s about me, Hattuc says, and I’ll stop complaining. Unbelievable, Kazim grumbles. I know there’s something else that’s bothering you.

There is something, Hattuc says, what about Suna? Why is she out so late? Calm down, Kazim asks, don’t you trust your niece or our damat? This is for the best. Besides, Seyran always talks about Suna with her husband. I allowed it because I was feeling generous, and tonight she’ll stay at the yali. Hattuc says she’s not comfortable with Kazim’s decisions lately. All this time I’ve respected you as head of the house. But that will end if you stop acting like it, she warns. She leaves the room.

Fuat says to Ferit, maybe we didn’t see your talents but how did you get the armless master to fall in love with you? That man hates me. Ferit laughs, if you say he loves me, then I don’t want to know how he treats someone he truly hates.

Seyran advises Suna to take it easy on the alcohol. Ah Seyran, Suna replies, we said we’d live in the moment like there’s no tomorrow. Seyran notes that Suna is not used to drinking. Ferit steps in and says to let Suna enjoy. Grandpa isn’t here and neither is Kazim nor your grumpy aunt. Seyran reminds him that they will be home when we’re done here.

Fuat tells Seyran that Ferit called Kazim while they were shopping. He got permission for Suna to spend the night at the yali. The sisters are overjoyed. Ferit declares, this is what Ferit Korhan does best, making women happy, whatever the reason! Right, Seyran? He gives her the elbow and she gives one back.

Ugh, Pelin sends a message to Ferit. Can you call me? Seyro asks, who is it? Ferit shuts off the phone and says, who do you think? Maybe she’s worried, Seyran says, you should answer. Suna asks if they can stay out as long as they want. Seyran tells her to calm down. Ferit tells Seyro to calm down. He tells Suna they can stay as long as she wants. Fuat wants to have fun, too. Suna is well on her way to being drunk.

The staff is outside relaxing. Ibo has made tea for everyone. He asks Yusuf how he takes it. You shouldn’t have bothered, Yusuf says. Don’t worry, Ibo replies, in the yali we have Halis aga, and here we have Sultan… so I’m used to serving. Sultan laughs. Sefika comes outside, is the tea done yet? Sultan shushes her. Firat is sleeping on her lap.

golden
#21 part 3

Sultan asks her, how are things in the yali? Everyone is in their rooms now, Sefika says, though Ferit and Fuat aren’t home. Sultan doesn’t look pleased. Sefika continues, I left Dicle in charge and Carlos to help, and I came to rest. One guard has the day off, so Latif said that Yusuf should patrol the garden at night.

Yusuf asks what that entails. Sultan says it’s easy. You walk around the grounds with a light and a nasty face. And you shine the light through the windows, so they know someone’s guarding them. Sefika laughs—you’re so bad, Sultan! Sultan says it’s really for show. Regardless, you have to do it, Yusuf.

Suna gets another drink. Seyran wants her to put it down and stop drinking. Ferit tells her to leave Suna alone. This is the first time she has had fun like this. Abidin told me she was very depressed yesterday. This will help her. Look at her, Seyro counters, she’s not used to drinking like this. Ferit understands but says that Suna is safe. You’re here and you can take care of her. It looks like Fuat has had a lot to drink, too. Ferit laughs at them.

Suna reminds Fuat, remember what you said about the master liking Ferit? I know why. It’s not your fault. It’s because they are younger. They are like baby animals, everyone likes them better. Ferit finds this amusing, not so much Seyran. Suna continues, it’s our reality and destiny. We’re the same, she tells Fuat, we must accept it. Everyone else sees us and rejects us, because we’re not so cute. Fuat says it’s true, but he never saw it that way before.

The musicians take a break. Suna tells Seyran she should play the piano. Ferit laughs. Excuse me, Seyran says. Ferit thinks Suna is very drunk. You’re saying Seyran should get up there because she knows how to play piano well? Seyro is ticked—are you making fun of me? Fuat answers, no, it’s just funny to imagine you playing piano. Seyran has had enough. She raises her hand for staff to come over.

Pelin takes a taxi to the yali. She tries calling Ferit. Unavailable.
Seyro asks if she can play the piano. The waiter says he’ll ask. Ferit and Fuat can’t stop laughing. Suna insists that Seyro is a great piano player. Seyran gets the okay and sits at the piano and starts playing. Ferit smiles, he’s impressed, maybe enchanted.

Fuat tells him, brother, I think you’re finished. Ferit asks why. You will fall head over heels in love with this girl, Fuat replies. Ferit looks at Seyran and he says, I’ve never fallen in love before, do you think I would fall for an antep fıstığı? We’ll see, Fuat answers. Seyran finishes and everyone applauds. She is stunned at first. Then she smiles, gets up and takes a small bow.

Seyran returns to the table. Fuat tells her that was incredible. Ferit tells him not to exaggerate. Seyran asks Suna to come with her to the restroom. Suna doesn’t want to go. Fuat says he will walk her to the restroom.

Ferit laughs. He didn’t know Suna was this funny. She tells Ferit that she can play the piano better than Seyran. Ferit says that nothing surprises him anymore. The musicians return to the stage. Suna laughs, they started playing so Seyran can’t come back. Ferit laughs and calls her rude.

#21 part 4

Suna asks Ferit if he wants to dance. He says he doesn’t like dancing. She really wants to dance since she loves dancing, and never gets to do it. Ferit jokes, I bet you two are perfect dancers. We are, she replies, dad put us in dance classes, but his rule was I could only dance with Seyran, never with a man. Let’s dance. Please. Ferit gives in, but only for one dance. It’s a slow dance. Abidin is watching from across the room.

Yusuf makes his rounds. Pelin is at the side of the house and has the ladder against the wall, ready to climb up to Ferit’s room. Yusuf catches her—stop! Who are you? What are you doing, Pelo replies, drop that light! He asks again, who are you? What are you doing? I’m Ferit and Seyran’s friend, she answers, who are you? Why do you care? I don’t know you! She asks, is Abidin inside?

Yusuf thinks. I’m sorry, I got confused, I didn’t know you. Pelo tells him to shut up, don’t wake anyone. She asks again for Abidin. He’s not here, Yusuf says. Pelo asks, who are you? I’m Yusuf. Yusuf, she asks, from where? I’m from Antep, he replies, why? Pelo figures it out, you’re the one who hit Ferit? How do you know, he asks in reply. Pelo gasps—you’re that guy! The hamster wheel in Pelo’s head starts to turn.

Suna can hardly dance. Ferit thinks she drank too much. He asks if she’s okay. She starts crying. Now I know why you didn’t pick me, she says, it’s because I’m not young. Ferit tells her that’s nonsense. He thinks they should sit. Suna wants to stay on the dance floor. Okay, Ferit says, but don’t cry. Cut to Abidin and he looks nervous. Suna says, if I was younger… I’d be in Seyran’s place now. Everyone’s always liked her better. Even my mother. She’d protect her. Ferit looks sorry for Suna. Abidin is looking around again, I think he’s expecting Seyran to return, and she’ll see Suna and Ferit.

Suna cries and continues, when they hit her (Seyran), my mother got in the way. And me? she never defended me, she would just run and hide! I understand, Ferit says, but don’t be sad. Tonight is supposed to be fun. Let’s keep dancing. Ferit gives her a twirl. She falls against him. They are dancing very close now. She says, yesterday… you stopped my father from hitting me. I’m so grateful. It was nothing, Ferit replies, I couldn’t let that happen.

Abidin sees Seyran coming up the stairs. Suna plants a kiss on Ferit! Seyran sees that the table is empty and Abidin steps in her way. She asks, is everything alright? Suna and Ferit break apart. He’s shocked. The alcohol is getting to you, he tells her and walks her back to the table. Abidin stalls Seyran. He says something about Suna coming back to the yali with them and bringing the car around.

Ferit and Suna are back at the table. Poor Suna is passed out on the chair. Seyran asks, where were you? Suna slurs… dancing. Seyro turns to Ferit—dancing? She can’t even stand and you take her to dance? Relax, he says, nothing happened. We only danced because she wanted to.

Fuat returns to the table. He asks, are we leaving now? They all agree to leave. Abidin motions for Ferit. Ferit asks him, is there a problem outside? No, Abi replies, but there’s one in here. What are you doing? Seyran almost saw you kiss Suna on her way back. Ferit sighs. Abi, I was surprised, too. I didn’t do anything, she kissed me. That was close.

golden
#21 part 5

Abi says, I don’t mean to accuse, Ferit. You grew up in my hands, but this is wrong. Ferit insists he did nothing wrong. You saw it. Suna kissed me! She’s drunk. She won’t even remember this tomorrow. What if she does, Abi asks, why did you let her do this? Is this fitting for you?

Ferit doesn’t have an answer for that, so he falls back on their boss- employee relationship. You’re overstepping, he says. I think it’s late and you’re getting tired. Why are you so tense anyway? What happened? [we think Abi likes Suna.] Abi backs down. Sorry. At least Seyran didn’t see you. But someone could have taken your photo while dancing. And this club has cameras everywhere.

So we’ll fix it, Ferit snaps, but don’t stress me out! Go settle the bill, I’ll get the others. I think Ferit is sorry and adds, Abi… seviyorum seni (I love you). Abi checks his phone and says the press is out front. Do we go out the back? Ferit says no need, I’m with my wife. Abi asks, what about Suna? She’s drunk. What if her father sees her on TV tomorrow? Ferit thanks Abi for thinking of this. You’re right, he says, let’s go out the back. Seyran and Fuat help Suna and they escape.

They return to the yali. Suna is a mess. Seyran helps her walk. Ferit notices the lights are off. He hopes the door is open. Fuat says he has the key. Seyran worries someone will see them. I guess especially Suna. Ferit suggests going through the balcony! No way Suna can do that.

Fuat unlocks the door. He wants to go to his room. Ferit gives him a hug and says he had a great time. Now to get Suna up the stairs. Uh oh. Ifakat is downstairs in the living room. She sees Seyran and Suna on the stairs. She calls out—Seyran, aren’t you going to say good night?

Suna gets excited when she sees Ifakat. Ah… Ifakat Hanim! She breaks away from Seyran and rushes over to kiss Ifakat’s hand. Ifakat pulls it away. She’s angry. Fuat, Ferit, what’s going on? Ferit explains, she’s not used to drinking and had too much. Ifakat replies, at this age, you still don’t know anything. How could you bring this girl home in such a state? What if your grandfather sees?

Fuat says, yenge, how ugly in front of our guest. Ifakat snaps, don’t talk back! Don’t take that tone with me! I got your grandfather’s permission for this? So you could embarrass him? Don’t exaggerate, Ferit says, we’re not embarrassing him. Seyran speaks up, Ifakat Hanim, my sister isn’t used to drinking. Ferit tells her to stay out of this.

Ifakat tells Fuat to come to her room. He wants to let this go until tomorrow, now isn’t the right time. She answers, I won’t respond since you’re an adult, but it seems I’m the only one who respects your grandfather! Don’t make me act like I used to! Fuat goes.

Ifakat looks at the girls. I don’t know what sort of home you grew up in, but there’s no room for indecency here. Ferit tells her that’s enough. Seyran pointedly says to Ifakat, I thought it wouldn’t be a problem if no one saw. Then it wouldn’t be indecent. That stops Ifakat in her tracks.

Seyran then becomes apologetic and bows her head. Forgive me, I shouldn’t have talked back… and I’m sorry for this evening. It won’t happen again. Get out of my sight, Ifakat orders. Suna tries to kiss her hand. Seyran pulls her away. Ferit follows them.

And we are out.

As usual, dondi, you described everything perfectly with lots of insights. Thanks!

The scene with Hattuc and Halis was very well done. I wonder how we'll find out what happened with these two. Halis is from Antep. I wonder if it will be done as a flashback with younger actors or as one of them confiding in someone in present time so as to fill us in.

Hattuc complaining about not being happy in Istanbul was NOT why Kazim wanted a mansion, despite his bringing it up more than once. He wants to keep squeezing things out of the Korhans.

It drives me nuts the way Esme is treated. When Halis comes to sit beside Hattuc, Esme stands there with Latif, as if she's an employee rather than the actual lady of the house.

Suna is the elder sister, but Seyran is more grounded. Perhaps, with the drunken evening, the writers meant to say that she had the worst of their father's oppression and needed to go crazy for at least one night.

I loved Hattuc finally going after Kazim. It was a nice break from the seeming default position of women in Antep, deferring to men even when you know they're wrong.

Ferit was pretty good all the way through this episode. He wanted the sisters to have some fun, but he's a bit too immature to side with Seyran about Suna's behavior. He couldn't see the risk of her behaving that way.

I don't think Ferit is to blame for the kiss. What was he going to do? Embarrass her by pushing her away. It seemed to me that Abidin is jealous.

I LOVED Seyran's jab at Ifakat and wish she hadn't backed away from it.

I can do #22 sometime tomorrow, Tuesday.

"LOBO"
Anastasia: Looking forward to seeing your recap of last night's episode.

Golden

I love this show. I binge watch it then have to wait for the patio to catch up. Now I'm even with you all.

Dondi, you add so much. Thank you, thank you!

I don't understand why Hattuc and Hallis can't resume a relationship, or start a new one since the family doesn't seem to know their history. They are both single. There was one flashback scene of them together in an earlier episode. I got the impression that Hattuc may have had a child out of wedlock with Hallis but perhaps I've watched too many telenovelas and I'm reading into things incorrectly. Just like I think that Sultan's young son is Ferit's son. I sometimes wonder if Orhan is Hattuc's son. That would make Ferit and Seyran second cousins or something. Enough speculation...

Babachita, in regards to your recap, thanks for explaining that garage brawl. I was totally confused why that guy wanted to beat him up, and calling on his 3 friends made it seem more sinister than a typical leave my girl alone fight.

The ladder to get upstairs cracks me up. It must be in place often since Ferit uses it to leave his room. Does Abi place it for him when he wants to escape. Pelin can go away any time now. She is annoying. Shell probably get in cahoots with Yusef though since he let her use the ladder and didn't evict her from the premises.

Lobo
Ep #19 part one
March 16, 2026

Graciela goes to talk to Cruz about the De la Colinas murder case. We see a flashback in which the captured sicarios say Cruz ordered the hits before Cruz kills the Sicarios. A reminder - we saw this scene earlier.

Eugenio's hearing went well. He will have his trial soon. Cruz visits him in prison to remind Eugenio to stay quiet (at the trial) or Antonia will get hurt.

The witness in protection El Alicante meets with agent Hugo Rivas. He won't spill on Cruz, but he says that Dante boasted of shooting the nanny Berta and having Cócula finish her off.
Hugo tells this to Antonia, who recruits Hugo to help her get Lobo and Renata across the border. Antonia and Hugo get permission from Cruz to just go after Lobo themselves because Lobo will smell a big operation. Cruz reluctantly gives permission.

Lobo
Ep #19 part 2

Cruz, along with Dante, have a discussion with El Azufrero to go over the plan. Cruz had gotten the border opened so Azu could run arms cross the border. Dante was the one who laundered the money - this is why he had all the foreign bank transfers running through his accounts. Cruz is running for Governor, then President.

Later Cruz tells Dante to keep an eye on Antonia, as she is becoming a pest. I fact, Cruz wouldn't mind having Antonia killed by Dante. For "the mission to capture Lobo", both Adela and Dante will be following Ant's movements via GPS.

Ant claims she found out that Lobo would be at a greenhouse nursery. Ant and Dante play cat and mouse in this huge nursery with plastic sheeting hanging down for different plant zones. Ant runs into Lobo They kiss.

Cruz pulled Hugo off the Lobo case to surveill an illegal goods transfer. While Hugo is taking photos Cripta comes up behind Hugo and puts a gun to his head. We find out that when Hugo is "rescued" this will make Cruz look good in the press. This also keeps Hugo from being Ant's backup.

In the large nursery Dante finds Ant's phone. And he finds other clues that Antonia was kidnapped by Lobo, including the usual message to not have the police follow Lobo.

Lobo and Antonia drive to the Cuevas house. Her kidnapping was faked to provide her with a "reason" to be with Lobo. Ant has a joyous introduction with Renata. The message saying don't have the police follow was an attempt to stall the police while Lobo Ren and Antonia get to the border. The episode ends here.

Odds and ends:
The Cruz boys and the Azufrero boys have a powwow on how to work together to sell drugs in the nightclub. Nacho Cruz finds out that pretty Sue is a hooker.

Graciela gets out of the house and meets with her lawyer's wife/widow in a park. The woman doesn't know that she is a widow, only that her husband disappeared after meeting with Gracie. And the woman is pregnant. Azu face Gracie a necklace earlier, but I think it's too small to have a bug in it.

Reminder: I am not doing the recap for Tuesday 's episode. If you wait for me to do it , it will show up just before or sometime after Wednesday 's episode. I will be watching the US beat Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic and I am out of the house for most of tomorrow.

Thanks, novelera and Kat.

As Kat mentioned, we saw younger actors playing Hattuc and Halis in earlier eps. We saw a photo, of young Halis, too.

Of course, Hattuc isn’t the reason Kazim wants a house. It’s just a ruse and the Korhans see right through it. Unfortnately, Halis must do the “honorable” thing. But I think he’s really doing it for Hattuc. He wants her to stay in Istanbul.

Oh boy, Suna’s “in vino veritas” night out. She loves her younger sister, but harbors some resentments. Same with Fuat and Ferit.

I don’t think Ferit is to blame for the kiss either, although he had poor judgment in letting Suna drink so much. And when the kiss happened, he couldn’t risk causing a scene. It’s obvious that Abidin likes Suna. Abi had a point about this being dangerous in public. Ferit hurt Abi by reminding him of his employee status, but he was quickly sorry, hence the “seviyorum seni”.

Seyran’s got that ace up her sleeve against Ifakat. She’s got the power to destroy Ifakat, and if she does, there goes the entire family.

Kat, you have some interesting speculations. Lol, the ladder. I think it’s there as needed for the plot. Yep, looks like Pelin is planning.

Thanks for taking #22, novelera. I’ll take #23.

Great recap, Anastasia! I really needed that explanation of what Cruz was doing for El Az. I actually thought Cruz was sending agents to stop El Az from a shipment. I seem to not be picking up the more rapid-fire Spanish in this show.

We got another Dante tantrum after Lobo and Antonia fooling him (again!). Seems like Cruz is onto Dante's obsession with Antonia and told him he wouldn't mind if she were shot.

I'm starting to feel more sympathetic to Graciela. You can see her skin crawl whenever El Az touches her. And she felt terrible meeting with her attorney's widow. There was physical attraction, and she didn't mind jumping into bed with him. But now...not so much.

I committed to a recap for golden. We'll see if I have the energy for a quickie for Lobo. I will also be watching the World Baseball Classic.

Lobo - I cheated, Novelera. Monday's episode had a couple of key things so I re-watched with English subtitles. I don't make the time to re-watch most episodes.

There are Milwaukee Brewers on both the USA team and on Venezuela for the WBC. With our affinity for the Hispanic world, I don't mind too much that Los Venezolanos are winning. Bottom of the ninth coming up.

#22 – Part 1 of 3

We again see Ifakat upbraiding Ferit, Seyran, and Suna as they return from the Big Night. The repeated scene from last night doesn’t show Seyran having backed off from her confrontational comment. The one about things being decent if no one knows. Later we find out that she was up and around because Sultan wanted her to see something to put the Şanlı sisters in a bad light.

When Seyran, Ferit, and Suna get to the bedroom, Pelin is there. Seyran throws up her hands in disgust. Pelo seems to try to justify this by saying she ran into Yusuf. Seyran thinks Ferit confided in Pelo about what’s going on with Yusuf and jumps all over him. Pelin then says she overheard Suna and Seyran in the Ladies when they were at the restaurant, and that’s how she knows about Yusuf being in Istanbul.

While Seyran takes Suna into the bathroom, Ferit goes to the balcony. Pelin had to go out there when Sultan showed up with some coffee. He’s furious with her and tells her he didn’t pick up her calls because he didn’t want to talk to her. Pelin tells him she’s afraid of losing him. He tells her the way she’s behaving now would make sure that happens. He sorta, kinda says their relationship will continue if she behaves. Then she plants a kiss on him just in time for Seyran to come out of the bathroom and see it. [It seemed to me that he didn’t kiss back, just like earlier with Suna.]

Ferit can’t resist a crack about Suna being gentle and kind, while Seyran is cold and hostile. She turns it right back at him. YOU chose me! Suna begins to snore. Seyran knows what to do and bangs her foot to stop it. The two newlyweds go on to exchange some barbs about Pelin.

Hmm. Dicle is apparently interested in Yusuf. She pretends to just be buttoning her uniform, so he gets a look at her cleavage. [Didn’t she have an unsuitable boyfriend before? Can’t remember.]

In the morning Ferit brings some seltzer with lemon for Suna’s hangover. He makes a crack about the bed finally serving its purpose…for two persons to sleep in it. But last night it was the Şanlı sisters.

Uh oh. Suna wasn’t blackout drunk the night before and remembers kissing Ferit. She has a meltdown in the bathroom. [It’s actually rather tragic. She’s lived such a sheltered life and feels she must castigate herself for one slip while intoxicated.]

Ferit and Seyran keep having moments of enjoying each other’s company. Ferit mentions the ring design that will be produced. Seyran wants a rematch of ping pong at the gym.

The actor playing Suna does a great job of appearing ashamed and hung over. Ferit shows he was brought up right and tells Suna he doesn’t remember anything about the night before. This is while Seyran is in the bathroom.

#22 – Part 2 of 3

Rats! Asuman found out about the Big Night. Orhan isn’t happy about the fight his sons were involved with. Asuman clearly seems to intuit some sort of danger from Suna. Gulgun chimes in that Fuat should have told Asuman about this. [But the whole night was orchestrated by Ifakat to bring Suna and Fuat closer.]

Another tense breakfast. I’m thinking every Korhan either has or will soon develop stomach ulcers. Halis looks menacing. When he addresses Suna, she jumps. He offers her a ride home after breakfast. [I’m unclear about whether Ifakat filled Halis in on the Big Night.] Then Halis rises and orders Firat and Fuat to come to see him after breakfast.

Halis examines his grandsons’ bruises and accuses them of not being grown-ups. Ferit does a good job of explaining that the fight was about a girl he’d turned down flat – twice. Fuat says that Halis taught them to defend themselves. We get another flashback to when they were boys and also had bruises. Then he switches tactics, still during the flashback, and orders them to stand up for themselves and for each other. When the boys leave, Halis blames Latif for the boys having been hit. He insists that the guards that didn’t prevent this be fired.

Halis gets calm and tells the adult Fuat and Ferit to leave now. Once again, he jumps on Latif for them being on the town without guards. Latif explains that they took the boat. And, once again, some guards get fired. After ranting about the family honor, he says that Abidin is to find the (already beaten-up by Ferit and Fuat) miscreants who dared blot his family name. And that they never dare to do so again.

Suna notices Abidin isn’t his usual solicitous self. Abi says he didn’t ask about her yesterday because she was obviously in a very good mood. She wants to apologize. I had forgotten that she’d sort of snapped at Abi. She says that yesterday was her first taste of alcohol. Abi comes back with an aphorism. He says that he made a lot of mistakes before the army straightened him out.

Ferit and Seyran put on their Benedick and Beatrice act [Much Ado About Nothing], trading barbs. Ferit asks why she seems off, and she replies that Suna has been weird ever since she got up in the morning. Seyran says that she’s sure there’s something more besides the hangover. I hope Ferit doesn’t play poker or he’ll lose some of the Korhan big bucks.

#22 – Part 3 of 3

Seyran keeps it up, and he keeps saying it’s nothing. After she’s worn him down, he says he’ll only tell her if she swears to never say anything to Suna or to anyone else. Seyran swears. Last night your sister drank a lot and didn’t know what she was doing. He says they were dancing and Suna, out of nowhere, kissed him. WHAT!

Seyran thinks he’s joking. Then she asks if the kiss was on his cheek. He correctly replies that it wasn’t reciprocal. But, of course, given his playboy rep, she blames it all on him. She says that it was Suna’s first kiss, and it should have meant something. Seyran reminds him he’d scoffed at her efforts to slow down Suna’s drinking. She’s very angry. But she’s also hurt. She tells him to leave right now and go kiss anyone he feels like kissing.

Gulgun comes in to tell them their fight can be heard in the rest of the house. They need to leave and sort this out.

They are walking away from the house when they see Yusuf doing chores. Ferit thinks Seyran looked at him and is angry.

Suna comes home, and her mother spirits her away. Esme tells Suna that Mrs. Sahi is visiting, from Antep. We can see her on a sofa with Hattuç. And the disgusting Kazim is slouching on the other sofa, popping something like nuts into his mouth while the woman speaks. She tells Kazim she would normally be embarrassed to mention this, but Mr. Hüseyin insisted. Hattuç: Is this Suna’s only option? Mrs. Sahi replies that Antep is Suna’s only option. Kazim, not looking exactly thrilled, says that the guy should meet Suna. We’ll see him this evening and see what happens.

Lobo - Someone who didn't watch the WBC baseball, please give us three-four sentences on what happened in Tuesday's episode. Thanks.

lobo

I had the advantage of being on the West Coast, thus could watch both the baseball game and Lobo.

What a team! Antonia is optimistic, working with Fernando, the IT whiz, and she’s a great planner once she decides which side she’s on. They plan to travel as a family, camouflaged, she says. She needs to be blonde, and Lobo needs to shave his head.

El Az and Graciela are in a dance between love and threats. He has a thing for her but keeps almost threatening her.

Hugo grabs the gun from BSC Crypto and for a minute things look good. But then he’s shot.

At the cop shop Cruz and Dante are not ono the same page. Cruz is talking about a presser. I almost think he is planning to find Antonia, kill her, and blame it on Lobo. He calls her the bait. This doesn’t go over well with Dante. They have a falling out, and Dante is suspended or fired, not sure which.

Oops, Adrian, Hugo’s brother also has a thing for Adela. Adrian tells Adela how Hugo cared for him after his accident and got him therapy. Cruz shows up and pays for Hugo’s hospital bill.

Cocula’s wife finds some photos of Graciela with Gustavo and shows them to Remedios. Remedios says she doesn't dare show them to El Az.

The supposedly safe house has an uproar when Fernando tries to leave to get eyedrops for Renata. Antonia makes the first move and kisses Lobo. Fer’s angry father points a rifle at them, thinking Antonia is a Jezebel. There’s a big brouhaha and Fer outs himself and says that Santi is his partner.

Because Renata’s eyes are bad, Antonia and Lobo go out to get the eyedrops medication wearing the usual disguise…baseball caps.

Dante has got some IT whiz from the police to help him try to find where “Lobo has Antonia kidnapped”.

lobo

I made that up about blonde Antonia and bald Lobo. That's what I'd do if I were them and running for the border.

Thanks so much, novelera for this excellent recap on a busy sports night.
Ferit did not kiss Pelo back. He was really annoyed with her and wanted her gone asap. She’s become a scheming stalker.

I don’t know if Dicle had a BF but she was communicating with a guy by phone. She put his number in with a girl’s name, like Seyran did with Yusuf. Abidin found out and warned her not to trust men. Maybe she takes after her horny mom.

Bad translation: after Seyran pushed Ferit off the bed, he noted, “I could fit in there.”

“[I’m unclear about whether Ifakat filled Halis in on the Big Night.]” She did get permission for them to go out but, I’m 100% sure she didn’t tell him what happened when they came home. She knew that Halis would take it out on her. Look what he did to Latif in the flashback! That shocked me.

Abidin was quoting the Quran to Suna: Surah Al-Baqarah – 219 “They ask you O Prophet about intoxicants and gambling. Say, “There is great evil in both, as well as some benefit for people—but the evil outweighs the benefit.”

“Benedick and Beatrice act [Much Ado About Nothing]” lol, yes!

I sort of feel sorry for Ferit in the latest eps. He’s getting blamed for things that are not his fault. The chickens came home to roost.

I think Dondi is taking 23 for Wed-Thurs. I can do 24 for Th-Fri. So far we are managing our five-a-week schedule! But the best news is we aren’t chained to that!

I agree, Novelera. Ima change in hair would help, and Arap Bethke needs a haircut.

I appreciate you doing the recap. My conference is over, and I plan on watching Tuesday's episode when I get home.

#23 part 1

Zahide has come from Antep with a man who is interested in Suna. It’s sort of implied that he’s not an ideal candidate, but the Sanlis can’t be picky now. Kazim is not excited but agrees to have him over since he came all this way.

Esme must break the news to Suna. Get ready for tonight, we will have a visitor. Hattuc enters. Someone has come all the way from Antep, she says. You’re going to greet him. Suna panics. No, no, I’m not ready. I don’t want to get married yet. Hattuc notes that Suna was desperate to find a groom just a few days ago. What changed? I don’t want to be away from you, Suna says, Seyran is here. I don’t want to live in Antep without you.

Hattuc tells Suna a wife’s place is always with her husband. Besides, you know Antep well. And we will be back there soon enough. That’s not true, Suna replies, we all know that dad has no intention of leaving here.

Calm down, Hattuc says, your father hasn’t agreed to this marriage yet. The man is just coming to meet you. All you have to do is make coffee and dessert. Your mom isn’t feeling well. And call your sister. She must come tonight. Your mother is sick and needs to rest. Esme has another stomach pain.

Seyfer drive in silence. She’s still fuming. She gets a call from Suna but doesn’t answer. Ferit asks, who is it? Seyran bites his head off—sana ne! (What’s it to you!) Don’t yell, Ferit shouts back. Who was it? I bet it was your ex. He must be worried about you. You have no right to make demands of me today, Seyran snaps back, have some shame and keep quiet. Just hearing your voice disgusts me.

Suna calls again. Ferit quips, there he is again. The idiot keeps calling. They shout at each other. Seyran shows him the phone: ”Ablam” (my sister). You answer it, she dares, go ahead. What are you waiting for? You can talk about the kiss.

Ferit replies, you should have told me it was your sister. And I shouldn’t have told you the truth. I don’t know why I did it. You asked for honesty and I gave it to you. Would you rather I lied? What would you have done? This wasn’t my fault. Didn’t anything like this ever happen to you? It could happen to anyone.

Seyran laughs, nothing this disgusting has ever happened to me. Never! How can you imply I’ve done this before? Haven’t you ever wondered why these things happen to you? Why? Why? She doesn’t let up on him. Why am I even saying this? You’re not even ashamed to interfere with my life and my future. I can’t go to school… I can’t talk to Yusuf …. And? AND?

Calm down, Ferit says. And don’t mention Yusuf to me again! School can’t happen because of the baby. She asks, Ferit, you’re going to make me have a baby even though I don’t want to? Ferit smirks, I don’t believe you. I can’t believe you don’t want a baby with me.

I’m going crazy, Seyro shouts and puts her head in her hands. I don’t want to have a baby with you! Understand? Are you stupid, Ferit? I don’t want you to touch me! I don’t like you! There are tears in Ferit’s eyes. Seyran says, I’d rather go back to that hell, to my father, than to be with you. It would be much better. Seyran is teary, too. Dejected Ferit says, okay…okay…

Yusuf is in his room and he reports to Pelin. They are always fighting. Do you know why, Pelo asks. Last I heard it was because Seyran wants to go to school. They don’t want her to go. Halis wants a great grandchild. She asks, so they are not arguing about us? He says no. Pelo says maybe it’s time for the truth to come out. Yusuf asks, even if they split up, where does that leave us?

#23 part 2

We see Carlos standing in the doorway. How much did he hear and understand? Yusuf pretends he’s talking to his mom. Carlos says, Ibrahim is looking for you. He wants to go shopping. He called you but you didn’t answer.

Seyfer end up at the “han” (the workshop area). Ferit tells her she didn’t have to come, she could have waited in the car. I’ll do what I told my mom. You told her we would come together, Seyran reminds him. If you’re going to be pouty, I’ll warn you that Necip Usta is grump. He’ll scold you. Seyro replies, I was taught as a child how to behave, thank you. Obviously, Ferit snarks.

Ferit spots Necip talking to some men. He calls out—Necip Usta! He raises his and Seyro’s joined hands in the air for Necip to see. Seyro pulls her hand away. Necip smiles and walks over to them. Hoşgeldin… how nice of you to come.

Ferit grabs Seyran’s hand tightly. This is my wife, Seyran. Necip says, welcome my daughter. Seyran rips her hand away from Ferit and reaches out to kiss Necip’s hand… pleased to meet you. He doesn’t let her kiss and wishes her a long life. Necip invites them to come to the workshop and he orders tea. Ha, Seyran gives Ferit an elbow to the ribs.

They enter the workshop. Necip says, Ferit, son, are you going to let your wife stand? Show her where to sit. Make her comfortable. Ferit is shocked… did he call me son? Seyfer sit at the table. Ferit asks, how are you, usta? I’ve been working on your design, he replies, I haven’t been this excited about a design for a while. Ellerine sağlık. Ferit can’t believe it. He asks, are you okay?

I am, Necip says. He walks over to the table with his detailed sketches and hands them to Ferit. Don’t focus on the surface shine, he says, what matters is the effort you put into it. That’s what makes it beautiful. Seyran says, but sometimes you fail no matter how hard you try. That means you haven’t tried hard enough, Necip answers. Did you do your best? Was there nothing you could improve?

Ferit hands the sketches to Seyran. Seyran says, so the key to success is giving your all. All 3 of them are smiling. Necip says, when I see you two my heart is full of peace. You remind me of myself when I was young. And of everything I postponed and compromised. All the dreams I had with her, we thought we could wait. But you know something? Had we tried harder, and had I paid closer attention to the life I had, everything would have been different. Listen to me, marriage is like a growing branch. If you take care of it, birds will visit. The branch will bear fruit and provide shade. And your children will build new branches. But if you put it off, the branch will dry and rot. It’s easier to destroy than it is to build. It’s hard to build a love worth fighting for.

Ferit and Seyran listen intently. Necip then says, Ali forgot about our tea. I’ll go see. Ferit smiles and tells Seyran, I love this sketch. She doesn’t answer, she just looks out the window. Necip’s words had an effect. Ferit’s phone rings. She tells him to answer it.

Suna was trying to call Ferit but he didn’t answer. Suna is mad, she hits herself on the head. Suna, you’re an idiot! God has punished you for this! She cries. Allah, please forgive me. I promise I won’t drink anymore. I regret it so much. I’ll keep praying until You hear me. Don’t abandon me!

#23 part 3

Ferit is sitting at Necip’s desk and points out where he sits. She doesn’t care, she’s still angry. He starts in with the teasing and brings her a tissue so she can wipe her tears away. I don’t want it, she snaps. I wish people could see the real you, he says. She barks—Ferit! You have no right to speak to me today! Shut up! And we are leaving as soon as he comes back. Let’s have tea first, he replies. You know something, Necip Usta turned into an angel the moment he saw you. It’s in my best interest to keep him in a good mood.

Ferit’s phone rings again. Answer it, Seyran tells him, she must be worried. Hurry! Answer! Ferit pulls out his phone without looking at it and shows it to Seyran. You answer it, he says. It’s Suna, not Pelo like they think. Seyro is surprised. So is Ferit. Ferit has no idea what she would want.

Seyran is suspicious. Do you talk to my sister often? He tells her to stop overreacting. Ferit asks, should I answer? Seyro shoots back—I don’t care. Do what you want! He makes it clear he never spoke to Suna on the phone before. It might be an emergency. Should I answer? Seyran thinks, then says… answer it. My phone’s off. She snarks, do you want me to leave… so you can have privacy? Ferit is frustrated with her attitude.

Ferit answers. Yes, she’s here. Oh, I hope she gets better soon. Then he passes the phone to Seyran. Suna tells her that Esme is sick. Nothing serious, but maybe she should come over. She doesn’t tell her about the visitor from Antep. Necip returns and Seyran tells him her mom is sick and they must leave. He understands—health comes first. We will have tea another time.

Seyran calls Esme from the car. She just needed to hear her voice. Ferit asks, how is your mom? Seyran is still in a snit. I doubt you care, Ferit. Even if you did, are you really going to go where Suna is? I’m sick of you, he answers, I’m sick of this. How many times do I have to tell you it wasn’t my fault? I did nothing! We’ll go to see your family, and I’ll tell them everything. But it will be worse for Suna. She scoffs, now you worry about my sister? And mocks—oh you’re so kind! Prince Ferit is so considerate! But I guess it’s okay, she didn’t slap you like I did. It might have been a special moment for you two, huh?

Ferit says he’s done talking. But they both continue to argue. He didn’t want to keep the truth from her but he’s sorry he was honest. All I want is to fix this issue for good, he says, you should just let it go. She asks why. Why don’t you want me to talk to Suna? Will her version be different? Maybe something else happened that night. I wouldn’t be surprised. Ferit finally says enough. [Seyran is really annoying me now and this keeps going around in circles.]

Seyran shows up at the apartment, sans Ferit. Suna looks sad, or maybe a little guilty? Mom is resting, she says, her fever went down. Hattuc comes and asks, where is your husband? Seyro says, Ferit has stuff to do, he’ll pick me up later. Hattuc says they have to get ready for tonight. Suna explains that someone is coming for her.

Seyran goes to Esme. She wants to know what’s going on. Esme says this is to be expected when the eldest daughter is still living at home. They are coming from Antep, Suna says, if this marriage happens, I’ll go back to Antep.
Seyran thinks Kazim wouldn’t marry Suna to just anyone. She is hopeful nothing will come of this visit. Suna notes that Istanbul Seyran is different than Antepli Seyran. Just tell me I overstayed my welcome and should go back, Suna says.

#23 part 4

Hattuc starts shouting for the girls. Esme says they used her illness as an excuse to get Seyran to come. Esme hugs Seyran and tells her to go and don’t upset your dad.

Ferit comes to see Pelin. She’s cooking and asks if he’s hungry. He looks around and jokes, is there anyone here? Pelo says Burak left. She gives him a kiss.

Kazim is walking around the kitchen as the girls prepare for the visit. He calls Suna close. Don’t be clumsy tonight. Keep it together. If you fall again, he warns, you already know what your punishment will be. She understands. Kazim tells Seyran not to tell anyone about this until it’s official. Only then will we tell your husband and family. Call your husband and tell him we have guests and that you’re spending the night here.

Suna is terrified. Seyran asks if she knows anything about this man. They haven’t told me, Suna replies, they said I’ll know when I see him. Suna needs to get the pantry key from Hattuc. Seyran notes that “they” haven’t changed.

Ferit is enjoying his meal. Seyran sends him a message: we have visitors from Antep and mom is sick. Can I spend the night here? He calls Ifakat. She’s in bed with a headache. She doesn’t think it’s a good idea for Seyran to stay there by herself. I don’t want them to get used to it. If she stays, you have to stay with her. She’ll inform Gramps.

Pelo is disappointed—do you have to go? No, he replies, Seyran thinks I’m home, and my family thinks I’m with her. So… I’m staying with you! Pelo is thrilled. She wants to go out. [isn’t that dangerous?] He says okay. Do you have a hat? A shirt?

Esme is out of her sick bed. The bell rings and Esme tells Seyran to stay out of sight. Seyro asks Suna if she’s okay. Yes, Suna replies with her head down, I won’t repeat what happened last time. Seyran lifts her sister’s head. Why aren’t you looking at me? Because I don’t want to cry, Suna answers. She hugs Seyran.

The guests arrive and are greeted. An older man first, and then a younger but not young man holding a boy’s hand. [The kid looks around 9-10 yrs] Esme is shocked. She whispers to Zahide, what is this? You’ll see, Zahide replies, don’t worry.

Esme is worried. They head to the kitchen. Esme asks for water. Seyran catches the vibe from Esme—what’s wrong? Zahide warns her not to do this in front of her (Suna). Esme says, no… no… my husband won’t give our daughter away like this. Now Suna is alarmed.

Zahide explains this man has been married before. He has a child. This is fate. His wife passed away. There’s nothing wrong with this. Esme thinks Suna should have someone closer to her age. Who cares if he’s a little older, Zahide says, this is in Suna’s best interests. Zahide leaves the kitchen. Esme tells Suna, don’t worry, your dad won’t say yes. Seyran and Esme comfort Suna.

Ferit and Pelo go clubbing. [Ferit has borrowed Lobo’s usual disguise—a blue baseball cap!] He’s doing shots. Pelo is smart and tells him to slow down. He complains, Abi isn’t here, but you are. You can try, but you’re not stopping me tonight! Dance for me! She likes the idea but… He says no one knows us here, do this for me. She downs a shot and heads to the floor. He watches from the bar. Ferit is enjoying it but he’s imagining that it’s Seyran dancing for him.

#23 part 5

Time to bring the coffee. Meanwhile, Kazim is questioning the prospective damat, Huseyin Bey. So… 50 hectares? Wow, you could build a whole city. It’s worth a fortune. [this is looking bad for Suna.] Huesyin explains, my grandfather and father saved up and I doubled it, Kazim Ağa! If you accept my proposal, we could invest in something else. [this really looks bad for Suna.]

Kazim thinks that sounds good. I remember my father telling me about your grandfather, may he rest in peace, he says. Here comes Suna with the coffee. She halts when she sees the “guests”. Kazim tells her to come. Huseyin gives Suna a look over as she serves them. I think he likes what he sees. No spilled coffee. Suna leaves the room.

Huseyin leans over to Kazim and whispers, I brought my child. If he’s going to be a problem down the line, we should talk… Kazim stops him, let’s not discuss that now. It’s not the time or place. It’s an important subject to discuss another day. We’ll talk about it, I promise. We’re not making any decisions after one visit. We know each other. Which is why we need to make sure this will work. Be patient, enjoy your coffee.

Pelo and Ferit leave the club. He’s very drunk. Why are we leaving so early, he asks, we were having so much fun. It’s okay, she says, we’ll keep the party going at my place. Ferit takes gum from some random guy. The valet brings Ferit’s car. He can hardly stand up. How is he going to drive? Pelo says let me drive. You don’t trust me, he asks, you don’t feel safe with me? I do, she says, but please let me drive. Pelo gives in against her better judgment.

Ferit drives and seems okay, he’s bopping to the music on the radio. Uh oh, there’s a traffic stop up ahead. The cop asks for license and registration. The cop wants Ferit to do a breathalyzer. He asks the cop if they can skip it this time. I’m Ferit Korhan. Can I make one phone call? The cop won’t let it go. Looked like .086.

The cops says he must confiscate the car and he asks Ferit to step out. Ferit tells him he wouldn’t drive if he didn’t think he could. The cop says this is for everyone’s safety including Ferit’s. We can help you find transportation. Pelo thanks the officer and tells Ferit let’s get out. They get out. Ferit tells Pelo, I wish they hadn’t taken my license.

And we are out.

Thanks, dondi, for a wonderful recap. Loved the Lobo baseball cap reference. Something I'm noticing, watching two dizis/TNs, something I almost never do. The dizis seem slower in pace. We get lots of facial expressions that convey the withheld emotions. I especially noticed this last night. Lobo was racing along with a dozen different things happening. While golden is slowly showing us what makes these people tick.

It's driving me NUTS that something's been wrong with Esme this whole time and she gets zero medical attention. Why does Kazim despise her so much? Is it two daughters and no sons? When she said Kazim would not accept such a husband for Suna, I snorted.

Yes, last episode and this one, the writers are making us sympathize with Ferit. Ferit is getting very frustrated with Seyran and so am I. I was SO hoping Suna would confess to having initiated the kiss so Seyran would back off her anger.

Yes, I agree, Kazim had some dollar signs in his eyes hearing about the prospective suitor's wealth. Again, it's a bit hard to grasp the culture. But Suna being matched with a widower with child is apparently something way beneath her. Actually, that wouldn't be so bad if he were a good person. But I didn't think he seemed kindly, and the child looked a bit hostile.

"LOBO"
Howdy from the Alamo City CarayCaray Family. My personal thoughts on last night's episode.

*Slippery Cruz is determined to become President of Mexico. If that's the case, Telemundo needs to make this a Super Series ASAP.

*If Gullible Antonia dies, GOOD RIDDANCE because she's very annoying.

*Adrian has a thing for Adela 🤔. Wondering how that's going to go?

*Buji Gracie is going to get the largest Karma anvils in the end.

*Where's Little Miss Cruz at now? Banging the campaign staffer again?

*Renata is going to take off those bandages, you watch.

Episode 24 #1 of 8
For my Life – Por mi vida

Ferit is driving Pelin from a nightclub. They reach a police roadblock where Ferit is breathalyzed by the police and his car is confiscated.

At the Sanli house, Seyran, Suna, and Esme are visiting in the living room. Esme tells Suna that it turned out as she predicted. Kazim wasn’t going to marry her to that man (a widower with a child from Antep). Suna says it’s still a possibility. Esme says Kazim didn’t want to be rude. That man is our guest and Kazim couldn’t say no right away. Seyran agrees. Esme says he didn’t even bring up the topic first. She smiles and tells her girls that her stomach stopped hurting. She says the pain must have been from stress. Esme tells them they need to change and go to bed. Seyran, who is staying over, asks to sleep with her mother.
Esme: Of course, we can snuggle up together, my precious little girl. Suna, you’ll sleep better in the guestroom.
Suna agrees and leaves.
Esme to Seyran: Oh, you don’t know how much I’ve missed you. (They hug.)
Seyran: I missed you so much.

Pelin opens her door and she and Ferit enter. He teases her that she is opening the door in style. He asks for the keys. He laments, laughing, that they have lost the car. He tells her it’s her fault. Ferit: If my grandfather finds out, I’ll die.
Ferit’s phone rings. It’s Gulgun. Pelin cautions him not to answer in his condition. He says he will turn it off and pretend the battery died.
Ferit texts his mother: Mom, I’m out.
Ferit says Pelin, Pelin, Pelin over and over as she puts him to bed. He asks her to snuggle with him, and she agrees but goes to get him some pajamas. She gets his sneakers off, and he accuses her of acting like Abidin. She tells him his shirt is full of sweat and he needs to change. She tries to get him to sit up and change, but he is very tired. She is worried he will develop a cold.

Seyran is climbing into bed. Three is a nice view of the city at night from the window.
Seyran’s phone rings. She answers: Yes.
Gulgun: I hope you are OK. How is your mother?
Seyran tells her she’s better now and asks if something has happened.
Gulgun tells her she’s called Ferit many times and he doesn’t answer. She thinks his phone is off, so she called Seyran. She asks to speak with him if he’s still awake.
Seyran says nothing.
Gulgun: Seyran?
Seyran, lying: I’m here. I’ll go look for him. He just got here. Yes, his phone’s out of battery. Do you want me to wake him?
Gulgun: No, don’t bother him. How are you feeling? Did you fix your problem?
Seyran: Yes.
Gulgun: I’m glad. Sorry for calling so late. Good night.
Esme comes back into the room and asks what’s going on. Seyran: The family called. They were worried about you.
Esme smiles: They are so sweet.
Esme climbs into bed with Seyran. Seyran texts Ferit that his mother called and that she thinks he is with her: Don’t worry, I didn’t tell her, but you broke our agreement. It’s not hard to guess who you’re with.
Pelin is lying with Ferit who appears to be asleep. She embraces his face with her hands. Her expression changes from serious to loving and back.
Seyran is sleeping close to her mother. More than one tear falls down her cheek.
Suna, alone in her room, wears a headscarf and performs her prayers on a prayer rug.

Episode 24 #2 of 8

The next day, Kazim and Hattuc are eating breakfast. Suna is standing at the other end of the table. Kazim gets a phone call.
Kazim: Good to hear from you. How are you? Tell me. Of course you can come, Orhan. It’s no problem. Right now? Of course, it’s no problem. Tell them to come.
Hattuc: Who is coming?
Kazim: Are you still angry? I spoke to Halis earlier and we talked it out. Ifakat and Gulgun are coming to check on Esme. Get ready, they want to see you.
Hattuc makes a face.
Kazim: Orhan wants to talk. He found houses for us to look at. We’re in luck. We’ll get out of here.

Pelin carries a tray out of her kitchen for Ferit. He is still sleeping. She opens the curtains to let in light and calls his name a few times. He finally wakes up. She tells him it’s morning. He asks for his phone and she points to it. He asks why it’s off.
Pelin: Remember your mother called, so you turned it off.
Ferit: No.
Pelin tries to give him some juice, but he rejects it.
Ferit reads his messages: No, so many problems so early. I told you they’d kill me.
Pelin: Now what is it?
Frit: My family’s headed to Seyran’s house. I need to get there before they do. Seyran knew I was with you. I have to hurry. My parents will kill me if I’m late.
Pelin: OK, and how do you think you’ll get there?
Ferit: In my car, what else?
Pelin: I don’t think you’ll find it.
Ferit: Why?
Pelin: Because it was impounded yesterday.
Ferit: What are you talking about?
Pelin: You can take mine.
Ferit: Thanks, I appreciate it. I love you.
Pelin: I love you, too.
Ferit: You’re so good.

Hattuc: Did you make sure there are enough sweets?
Kazim: Listen, you saw your suitor yesterday?
Suna: I did, Dad.
Kazim: And what did you think?
Suna: Whatever you say, Dad.
Kazim: That’s fine. Don’t worry. I didn’t like him either. I don’t want people to say Kazim gave his daughter to a widower. You’ll be even less desired then.
Hattuc: Go tell your mother. That’s probably why she was sick. She’ll feel better soon.
Kazim: Look at me, tell her not to dress up too much. She has to look a little sick, so go.
Hattuc: The girls have been acting strange since yesterday.
Kazim: Why?
Hattuc: They exaggerate. I’m full.

We see Ferit driving very fast. He talks to himself: I’m a complete idiot. I’m driving without a license.
He dials Seyran. He yells at his phone after he dials her for her to answer it.
Suna comes in as Seyran is making up the bed: Where’s Mom?
Seyran: In the bathroom. Did something happen?
Suna smiles: Seyran, Dad’s not marrying me off. I came to tell Mom.
Ferit calls.
Seyran answers: Tell me, Ferit.
Ferit: Seyran did my mom get to your house?
Seyran: Not yet, what happened to you?
Ferit: Don’t worry, Seyran. I’m on my way, but you have to handle this.

Episode 24 #3 of 8
Seyran: Do I have to handle this myself? Didn’t I handle it last night? I’ll help you tonight, and tomorrow, and next month. Your mother called me last night to talk to you. I told her you were asleep and your phone was off.
Ferit: Seyran, this isn’t the time to scold me.
Seyran: Where is the honesty that you always talk about? Will you be this honest with your mom when you arrive? You handle this alone when you get here. Understand? I won’t do anything else for you.
Seyran hangs up.
Suna has been standing there listening.
Ferit, still driving: Gee, thanks, Seyran.
He steps on the gas. We can see him speeding, weaving in and out of traffic lanes.
Suna: You two seemed fine yesterday. Why are you fighting now?
Seyran: Because he spent the night with his girlfriend. Why, isn’t that enough?
Suna: It’s just…you really seem mad. It looks like something worse happened.
Seyran walks over to Suna, staring.
Seyran: Sister what answer are you looking for? Ask me clearly. It’s OK, tell me the truth. Why haven’t you been able to look me in the eye since yesterday? Did something happen?
Suna starts to cry: Did Ferit tell you?
Seyran is also crying. She looks around in pain, and finally: He told me. He told me. Did you think he wouldn’t? He told me it was your fault.
Suna, wracked with guilt and crying: Seyra, it’s true. It was my fault. I swear I don’t understand how it happened.
Seyran: How could you. Why did you do it? Answer me! Answer me, Suna! Say something. I want an explanation. Don’t stay quiet, tell me! Answer me! Tell me the truth. I need an answer. Tell me, if you’re so ashamed.
Suna: Seyran, I was drunk.
Seyran: I could tell.
Esme is listening at the door. All of a sudden, Kazim grabs her from behind and covers her mouth, and they both listen to their daughters.
Seyran: I told you. What did I tell you that night? Not to drink. I told you not to drink! You didn’t listen, and you drank all night like an idiot! Tell me if it was worth it, tell me! Maybe it’s better this way. That repressed emotion jumped out that night.
Suna: Seyran, don’t say that. It’s not true.
Seyran: It’s not? Are you sure? Tell me, how could you kiss my husband, just because you’re drunk?
Kazim can’t restrain himself any longer and hollers: Dam girl!!!
He enters followed by Esme: What did you say? Don’t you have shame? I’m going to kill you!
Kazim raises his hand, and Seyran is able to catch it.
Seyran: Dad, don’t. I didn’t mean it.
Kazim starts to strangle Seyran.
Suna yells: Leave her alone! You’re going to kill her!
Kazim is furious.
Hattuc comes in and tells him to stop, that he will kill her.
Finally, Kazim lets Seyran go. Suna runs away from him, while Seyran tries to recover.
Kazim, yelling after Suna: How dare you! Don’t make me kill you for this!
Seyran is writhing in pain, trying to get her breath back.
Kazim is yanking Suna by the hair into the hall: How could you do something so disgusting? You’re disgusting. Trash!
Kazim throws Suna across the room.
Hattuc: Kazim, what are you doing? The guests will be here soon. Someone will hear you. Tell me what’s going on.
Kazim, hands flailing: Do you want to know what your niece did? She went out and got drunk. She got drunk and kissed her sister’s husband!
He hits Suna hard.
Hattuc is muy impactada.

Episode 24 #4 of 8
Kazim tells Hattuc to call Zahide (the Antep matchmaker). Call her now!
Hattuc says she will, but he has to calm down first.
Kazim: If you want me to calm down, call Zahide now! (to Suna) How could you do this to me? How could you? Call Zahide.
Hattuc calls Zahide and gives the phone to Kazim. He asks her if Huseyin is still interested in Suna.
Zahide: I’m not sure. You seemed very indecisive yesterday.
Kazim: That’s OK. Tell him if he marries her quickly, our problems disappear, understand.
Suna looks at her father in horror.
Zahide: Patriarch, I will, but why the sudden change?
Kasim: It doesn’t matter. It’s her only choice. Call and arrange the wedding immediately. Because that’s what I’ve decided.
Seyran: Dad, Dad, you misheard us! She wasn’t drunk, she was dizzy and I was just jealous.
Kazim throws his beads to the ground and threatens the girls.
Seyran continues: When she kissed him on the cheek, that’s why I was upset.
Kazim: Who do you think you’re talking to? Who are you trying to fool? You’re lucky your mother-in-law is visiting, or I’d cut your tongue out with a dull knife!
Hattuc: Stop now, the guests are coming, and you have to calm down.
Kazim: Lock her up in her room. You take care of her, lock her in, he tells Esme.
Kazim: Make sure no one hears her, because if anyone hears you, I swear I’ll kill you. Keep your mouth shut. Get ready!
Kazim heads out of the room.
Seyran runs to Suna: Get up, sister.
Suna: I beg you, save me, please! I can’t go back to Antep. Help me please! Save me. The girls hold one another.
Seyran: I’ll save you, I swear, I promise.
Suna: There’s no point in living if I go back!
Hattuc: You should have thought of that before acting like this. Be grateful your father found a way out. You’ve dishonored this family. You must do as your father tells you. He gave his final word on the matter. We’ll know his answer soon.
Outside the building, we see Ibo and Mustafa arrive. They let Gulgun and Ifakat out of the car.
Gulgun: I know this place. Kazim didn’t like it?
Ifakat: It’s like a joke. We have to get rid of that man.
Gulgun: Sounds like we have an alliance.
Ifakat: We agree on something for once. That man only makes trouble. Halis and Orhan haven’t noticed yet and they’re giving him a house tour (of the other house) today!
Gulgun: You have to be tough. I’m sure you can do this.
Ferit now drives up.
He walks up to Mustafa and asks when they got there. He tells him just now and that the ladies just went inside. Ferit tells Mustafa he needs him to drive his friend’s car to her house to drop it off. Then he should bring one of their cars. Mustafa tells him it won’t be a problem.
Ferit thanks him and heads into the building.

Upstairs, Kazim is threatening his family again.
Kazim: Don’t have a sour face! Act like nothing happened. (He shakes his prayer beads at them.) If you tell them even the smallest detail, you’ll regret it. Allah knows I’m honest.
For emphasis, he makes eye contact with each family member.
Hattuc is very unhappy with him.
She answers the door: Welcome, Ms. Ifakat, welcome, Gulgun.
The visitors thank them.
Kazim says he will go meet Orhan now, but he wanted to greet them first: Right this way, please. Make yourself at home.
Gulgun: We know you’re meeting Orhan today. You can go if you like. If you don’t mind, we’ll stay.

Episode 24 #5 of 8
Kazim: Feel right at home.
Kazim leaves and Hattuc takes them into the living room.
Kazim is in the hall where Ibo is waiting. Kazim tells Ibo to take him to Mr. Orhan and then he can come back. Ibo agrees.
At the elevators, Ferit pops out of an elevator: Father Kazim. How are you? Are you going somewhere? Ferit holds out his hand to shake, which Kazim takes. He then yanks Ferit’s hand sharply toward him so he can speak into his ear: Never cross that line again. Understand?
Ferit looks at Ibo, who looks away. He then flings Ferit’s hand away.
Kazim gets in the elevator, followed by Ibo who bows to Ferit as he goes by.

In the living room, Gulgun asks Esme what the doctor said.
Esme says she is good, much better. The doctor didn’t say anything.
Ifakat gives her a sideways look, and says: He didn’t say anything? Did a doctor come to see you?
Hattuc: Kazim asked a doctor to come. It happens sometimes. I think she’s not used to the temperature here.
Ifakat: I hope she adjust soon. Mr. Halis sends his regards.
Hattuc: We appreciate it, both you and Mr. Halis.
Gulgun: Where’s Ferit? Did he go somewhere?
Esme cries out in pain and succeeds in distracting them.
Ifakat: That doesn’t look good. Maybe you should rest.
Esme: No, I’m fine. Just a temporary pain.
Gulgun: Seyran, is Suna not here either?
Seyran: My sister went out with a friend visiting us from Antep, and Ferit went to the pharmacy to get medicine for my mom. He shouldn’t be long. (Doorbell rings) That must be him.
Ferit, at the door: What happened?
Seyran: I said you went to the pharmacy, but I didn’t do it to help you. I did it so your mom wouldn’t be upset.
Ferit: I appreciate it.
Seyran: Come into the living room. (In a loud voice) I’ll leave the medicine in her room.
Ferit looks pleased with himself: Everything turned out well.
He goes into the living room and greets everyone.
Hattuc: It’s amazing how fast you were, Ferit. What perfect timing.
Ferit: I ran as fast as I could.
Hattuc, chuckles: So I see.
Ifakat: Dear Ferit, it seems you’ve upset Aunt Hattuc.
Esme: Don’t worry, Aunt Hattuc loves him the most.
Gulgun: Then, I assume you talked a lot last night.
Ferit makes a wide hand gesture.
Hattuc: Yes, we survivied the night.
Ifakat: How sweet.
Ferikt blows Hattuc a kiss. She doesn’t look like she reciprocates the feeling.
Seyran comes into the room: OK, Mom, the medicine’s in your room.
Esme: Thank you, dear.
Seyran sits down. Ferit looks around and asks where Suna is.
Hattuc: She left after you did. She went to show her friend around the city.
Ferit looks around, unconvinced.
Gulgun: You made so much (referring to the refreshments on the table). It must have taken you a while.
Esme: You’re too kind.
Gulgun: Go ahead, I think it’s teatime.
Gulgun says she is an excellent hostess.
Ferit: That’s my wife. She’s so talented.
Ferit reaches out as she walks by, but she bats him away.
Ferit laughs: She got mad!

Episode 24 #6 of 8

In the luxury van, Orhan and Fuat are showing Kazim pictures of the various houses. Kazim is playing his usual hard to please role. One house that Orhan likes, Kazim says is like a labyrinth. Hattuc would get lost.
Orhan suggests he might like it if he saw it in person.
Kazim: And is this house near yours? Remember that last two? One was in the mountains, and the other was so old-fashioned and out of style. The photos looked better than real life. This house will be the same.
Orhan: We’ve tried to find one close to ours.
Kazim: I’d be happy at least with an ocean view. We’re in no rush.
Orhan and Fuat share an eye roll.
My aunt and daughter are returning to our hometown, and I’m doing this for them. I’m doing this for their own good.
Orhan: Very well, I understand. We have to be patient.
Fuat: Mr. Kazim, how long will Suna be in Antep? I want to know for our arrangement.
Kazim: I don’t know when she’ll be back. She’ll be busy helping with a very important wedding. So, I think you should get someone else.
(Some comic relief) Just now we get a great shot at the foot level of Kazim taking his shoes off. He slips them back on and repeats that they should get someone new to translate.
Fuat: Very well.
Kazim is now testing the recliner function of his seat, effectively pushing the Korhans with the reclining seat.
Orhan: We are almost at the house. It’s close to ours.

At the Sanli home, Suna is sitting on the floor, dejected. We hear a plaintive Turkish song, that matches her mood. She hits her head on the wall often.

The guests leave, with Ifakat and Gulgun smiling their thanks. Seyran is going with Ferit. She hugs her mother and aunt. The close-up of their faces reflects the tragic lives they all lead.

Seyran has a serious expression as Ferit drives her home. I guess he isn’t worried about his license.

Hattuc takes the keys and opens the door to Suna for Esme. Esme holds Suna, who looks ill. Hattuc also shows pain in her expression.

At the yali, Yusuf goes to open Ferit’s door. They exchange serious looks. Ferit is probably daring him to do something so he can hit him. Ferit and Seyran walk slowly inside. Their slow pace feels almost like a funeral. Halis is watching from his window.

Once in their attic, Seyran doesn’t feel she has to pretend anymore. She goes to the balcony while Ferit sits on the bed.

At dinner, everyone is subdued.

Back at the Sanli home
Hattuc tells Kazim: That girl’s going crazy. She doesn’t look well. I don’t think she’ll recover.
Kazim: Don’t be negative. I did what I had to do. My dad hit you, too. It was for your own good. Where would you be without discipline?
Hattuc: Suna is different.
Kazim: I wanted to kill her. I was about to kill that girl. I had no other choice with what I heard. (He shakes his prayer beads at Hattuc.)

Episode 24 #7 of 8
Esme brings a tray to the room.
There is a call from Zahide.
Kazim tells Hattuc to pass him the phone.
Kazim: Hello. That’s good. Don’t worry, don’t exaggerate. It has to be a quiet wedding. That’s OK. I’ll talk to my aunt. I told you not to exaggerate! It’s not appropriate to talk to him over the phone. I already told you how to do it. Goodbye.
Kazim to Hattuc: What a bother. Go get ready. You’re taking the first flight to Antep tomorrow. Hattuc: There’s no way back? What did Zahide say?
Kazim: That’s not your business. I already told you, and I won’t repeat myself. He’s accepted. Take Suna tomorrow. As soon as she’s married, you come straight back.
Exme: Listen, why so fast? Won’t there be a wedding? A wedding with the family?
Kazim: Who do you think you are? I’m seriously asking who you think you are. You think that idiot daughter of yours deserves a wedding? That man’s a widower. Do you know what that means? Do you want to be humiliated? It’s decided. There’s no other option. Enough. The money I wasted…. all that investment, all that effort, just to end up with a widower of second (in Spanish, this usually means not top quality.) You’re an idiot. A damn idiot. (He looks ready to beat Esme and throws something at her.) Get out of here!

After dinner, Seyran and Ferit are back in their attic. She goes straight to get her covers for her sofa bed. Ferit wants to talk and asks what’s wrong.
Ferit: I’m talking to you. Are you giving me the silent treatment?
He reaches out to her and she yells at him: Leave me alone!
Ferit: Go ahead and yell. What will it get you? Have you won anything yelling like that?
Seyran: Maybe then I won’t have to hear you.
Ferit: Where was Suna today? I don’t believe for a second she was out with a friend.
Seyran: Obviously, a liar would be able to tell a lie. It’s like being you, telling those cheap lies.
Ferit: Seyran, can you tell me what happened? I’ll tell you. I told my sister everything when I got there.
Ferit: What do you tell her?
Seyran: I told her you told me everything that happened.
Ferit: Seyran, are you crazy? You promised you wouldn’t tell her, remember? You made her upset, that’s why we didn’t see her.
Seyran shakes her head with emphasis: That’s not what happened, Ferit. Do you want to know what happened?

Ferit: Yes, tell me.
Seyran: When I was with her and told her, Dad heard us. First, he beat and dragged her around the house by her hair. Then, he decided to marry her off to an old man from Antep. And then, he locked her in her room all banged up. Alone...and sad.
Ferit is very impactado by this.
Seyran: Understand? Are you happy now?
Ferit: Seyran, why didn’t you tell me what happened?
Ferit: Who are you to tell? You’re an opportunistic coward.
Ferit: Seyran, do you hear what you’re saying?
Seyran: Of course. You are an idiot. You’re loathsome and pathetic and an opportunist. (Seyran is moving forward and Ferit is backing up during this interchange.) You’re selfish.
Ferit: Seyran, I think you should watch how you talk to me.
Seyran: Or what? What will you do to me?
Seyran’s phone rings.
Seyran answers: Sister are you OK?
We can hear sobbing. Ferit is listening.
Suna: Seyran, what is it?
Suna: Seyran, I have to go back to Antep first thing tomorrow.
Seyran: Suna, are you sure?
Suna: I leave on the first flight and when I land, they’ll take me to marry that man. They’ll marry me off and you and Mon won’t be there to support me.
Seyran: Don’t cry. Stay calm. This is just a change, stay calm.
Suna: I won’t be able to handle it without you. I’m going to kill myself.
Seyran: Sister, please don’t say that. You have to calm down. I promise I’ll find a way out but calm down.
Suna: I beg you, help me. Tell Ferit to help me! Tell Mom to help me. You have to convince Dad. You have to tell Halis to help me. He can convince Dad. I beg you, if that man touches me, I’ll die! I swear. I can’t talk anymore. I need to hang up. I love you.
Seyran: Sister, don’t hang up! Seyran stands holding her phone to her heart, devastated.
She turns to Ferit.
Seyran: Ferit. (She takes both his hands in hers.) Dad’s going to send my sister back to Antep. He wants to marry her off to that man.
Ferit takes his hands back: And?
Seyran: What? Please you have to help me find a way out. Ferit, my sister is destroyed. She told me she will kill herself.
Ferit is pacing back and forth.
Seyran: We have to find a way out.
Ferit: What happened, Seyran? You want the pathetic idiot’s help? The selfish, opportunistic loathsome idiot? Now you want my help?
Seyran looks at him and walks away, sobbing.
Seyran: I’m sorry, Ferit. Please forgive me. Forgive me. Help my sister and I’ll do whatever you ask, I swear. Please help my sister, and I swear on my life, I’ll do whatever you ask, just help.
Ferit: Do you think I believe your promises?
Seyran: I promise, Ferit. I swear on my life. Please save my sister. Ask anything and I’ll do it. She repeats this over and over.
Ferit is thinking. He looks at her and goes to get that lace nightie. He tells her to put it on. He reminds her he is an opportunist: When will I get another opportunity like this? Put it on.

Episode #21, part 1
March 18, 2026

Lobo and Antonia get eyedrops from Oapa Cuevas's friends pharmacy. They don't gave the prescription, so Friend gives them a generic. Unfortunately, there drops don't help and Rebata ajea up the next morning unable to see.

Hugo wakes up in a hospital bed. Adela is there and kisses him. Adrian arrives to see the kiss.

Cruz is running for Governor. He tells his family that they have to be above reproach. I suspect that his son Nacho's drug dealing will eventually be a problem.

As part of the campaign promotion, Cruz goes to the hospital and has photos taken with the police hero Hugo and the firmer Olympian. (I saw an interview with Alejandro de la Molina in which he discussed how fun it was to play Cruz.)

Papa Cuevas had a convo with Fer and Santi. He has decided to love them even if he doesn't understand them. This scene was muy impactada.

Lobo and Renata ask the pharmacy friend to find a trustworthy opthalmologist to exam Renata's eyes. In a toom above the pharmacy , he determines that Ren has Sjogren's Syndrome not enough tears. The best treatment is a laser treatment, that needs to be done in his medical office.

Ep 21 part 2

Sorry about the spelling above. The text slides under my phone keyboard, and when I pull it back up I don't catch everything.

Dante's computer guru Fabio finds the Cueva's house. Dante goes there. Luckily the only ones at home are Papa and Lola. Papa Cuevas tells Dante that Lobo isn't a kidnapper. That Renata and Antonia are happy with Libo, and they act like they are a family Dante rubs his brows in confusion and annoyance. He talks to tech Fabio who suggests that Antonia is an accomplice to Lobo. Dante says No! She must be a victim! And he leaves! Rather than staking out the house in case Lobo comes back No wonder Cruz has no confidence in Dante.

Above the pharmacy Lobo et al finally consider that Renata's eyes (or irises) maybe the biological password to get at the treasure. The De la Colinas may have set it up that way to ensure Ren stays alive. Antonia heads over to the eye doctor's to get hom to bring his laser machine over to the pharmacy to treat Ren. (Fat chance. I imagine it's a big expensive machine and chair set up in a sterile room. Good luck, showrunners.) As she gets to her car Cócula and Cripta who have escaped prison, pull up in an SUV and grab her. Lobo gets out to the street in time to see them drive off with her. End episode.
