Episode 43 #2 of 8
When she gets upstairs, Ferit says that was a fast visit. He asks what his grandfather said. Seyran is very happy and tells him he said: Tell that rascal to take you shopping today and buy you whatever you want.
Ferit: Stop playing around. I asked you a serious question.
Seyran: I am serious. Ferit, do you think I’m lying just to leave the house? He said he’s rewarding me.
Ferit: How did he come to that decision? He just told you? He could have told me.
Seyran: That’s just the part you need to know, sorry!
Ferit: Come on, Seyran, tell me.
Seyran: He didn’t say anything, Ferit. He wanted to talk to me because he loves me, that’s all.
Ferit: He told you he loves you?
Seyran: Don’t be jealous.
Ferit: You’re a liar, and grandfather doesn’t care for liars.
Seyran: Soon you’ll see just how much he loves me. I’m sure that there’ll be a big surprise in store for you too.
Ferit: A surprise? What surprise?
Seyran: Well, I’m not sure.
He keeps pressing her to tell him. She tells him to get ready to go shopping, they should do what Grandfather says, so get dressed.
Ferit won’t let it drop: What did you talk about? Could it have been about a great-grandchild?
Seyran: Very funny.
Ferit: Come on, Seyran! Tell me what Grandpa said.
Seyran: Fine, maybe I’ll tell you if you behave yourself today.
He sighs and she tells him not to be sad.
Gulgun is walking upstairs. She runs into the happy couple at the top of the stairs.
Gulgun: Wow, you look gorgeous. Where are you going?
Ferit: My grandfather told Seyran that he wants us to go shopping and have fun. But since Seyran’s the one who told me, maybe she’s lying.
Gulgun says it’s a great idea and will be good for both of them.
Seyran tells her Halis told them not to return home until the evening.
Gulgun asks Ferit to give her a minute alone with Seyran.
Ferit: What is going on. Everyone wants to speak to Seyran in private lately.
Gulgun tells him it’s no big deal.
Gulgun to Seyran: I felt so bad that I couldn’t talk to you at the hospital. I was very worried and got very upset when you told me that Ferit had left. I know the things I said broke your heart. I’m sorry. Forgive me for that.
Seyran: Don’t mention it, Ms. Gulgun. Trust me, I’m not offended. You were right. You were right about everything.
Gulgun is very happy and tells her not to keep him waiting. She asks what Halis said. Seyran hems and haws at first,…

Outside, Ferit walks toward the car and comes upon Yusuf.
Ferit: Hi, how’s it going handsome? You’re still here?
Yusuf: I’m here, you got a problem with that?
Ferit: No, why would I? In fact, I ought to be thanking you for bringing me my wife.
Ferit smiles and Yusuf takes a breath.
Ferit continues: I felt like I understood you before, but no, there’s no hope for you. She made her feelings clear in front of everyone. Have you no pride, man? If I were in your shoes, I wouldn’t stay. I’d flee when I got the chance.
Yusuf: If you were like me, could you even be here? How long could you live without a family like this?

Episode 43 #3 of 8
Ferit listens in a snarky manner.
Yusuf continues: Without money or power? I didn’t have parents or a grandfather to support me. I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth, so cut the crap. You’re nothing without this family, Ferit.
Ferit laughs out loud: Sure, but don’t you think you’re exaggerating some? But keep it up. Everything coming out of your mouth is hilarious. Who’d have thought that talking to you would brighten my day so much?
Ferit pats Yusuf on his front shoulder. Yusuf’s look is darkening.
Ferit laughs broadly, still touching Yusuf on the shoulder: I didn’t figure you for a comedian, but you are, you really are. You’re the total package, and who doesn’t like that? Nobody, that’s who.
Ferit sings: Me, me, me, we’re back, and nobody’s taking my place. No way!
When Ferit reaches the car, he jumps on Abidin’s back. Abidin tells him to take it easy or he will hurt him.
Seyran is walking toward the car after her talk with Gulgun, and she walks by Yusuf, whom she ignores.
Ferit is now telling Abidin he missed him. Abidin tells him he missed him too. Ferit tells him he is still impressed with how Abidin acted.
Abidin: OK, but don’t talk about it like it’s something to be proud of.
Ferit: There’s no need to be modest. I really appreciate it.
Abidin: It was nothing, don’t mention it.
Ferit: Thank you. You’re the best friend a guy could have.
Seyran reaches them and Abidin asks where they are going. She is smiling brightly. Ferit tells him they are going wherever Seyran wants to go. Whatever the princess wants. Shopping, eating,…orders from above.
Seyran: I’m hungry, so let’s eat first.
Ferit: Of course, we’ll do whatever you want. You in the mood for fish? Beef, chicken? How about that pizzeria?
Seyran: Yes, let’s go there! But are you sure?
Ferit: Ferit Korhan doesn’t do anything he’s not sure of, you understand?
Seyran nods: I’m aware. When you make up your mind about something, you don’t rest until you get it.
Ferit opens the door for her. Seyran exclaims: I can’t believe it. You’re acting like a gentleman.
He tells Abidin as he goes to get in the other side: I’m a gentleman, now.
Abidin tells him: You’re my sweet problem.

At a nice restaurant with a waterfront view, we see Pelin meeting Serter. He helps her get seated and she thanks him. He tells her he is glad she came. Serter said they didn’t get a chance to talk or to get to know one another.
Pelin: Yeah, it feels a little weird.
They seem almost shy trying to find words for their first conversation. He reassures her that they are just meeting as friends. Pelin smiles at this.

Seyran is playing with a well-dressed dog at their restaurant, named SALT (the restaurant). Ferit jokes that the dog is adorable and has ears like hers. She tells him the dog’s name is Naget. The waiter brings their food. Ferit says it smells wonderful. He asks Seyran if she likes this place. She tells him she liked it when they came before. That was a very fun day. Ferit says she has her reasons for liking it, but, he says, he would rather not talk about that. He tells her they should eat. She goes to wash her hands. While she’s gone, he tries to call Pelin but gets a busy signal. He is able to track where she is (or where her phone is, at least). She is not far from where he and Seyran are. He is preoccupied with what she is up to. He calls Burak (Pelin’s cousin) to see if she is with him. He tells her he’s alone. Ferit asks him if he knows who Pelin is with. Burak looks uncomfortable and tells him it’s not for him to say. Ferit tells him he has been trying to call all morning. Now she has him blocked so he can’t call. He asks Burak again what’s going on. Burak tells him he doesn’t want to speak for his cousin, but if that was her decision, it’s good for both of them.

Episode 43 #1 of 8
“A Tough Decision”

We are outside the yali where Halis is returning from his stay at the hospital. He is being accompanied by Orhan and Fuat and greeted by the staff. Sefika is tearful. Halis stops and tells her not to cry. She tells him everyone was so worried and how glad she is that he is OK. Halis looks well and cheerful. Ferit welcomes him with a broad smile and a respectful kiss to Halis’s hand, followed by a big hug. Seyran also greets him and he pats her head affectionately. Seyran sighs and smiles as he makes his way into his yali.

Upstairs in their attic suite, Seyran and Ferit are playful and happy. While she is in the bathroom, Ferit calls someone back who left a message. I wonder who it is…. There is no answer and Ferit wonders why the person would be so upset that they didn’t answer. He tries again and gets a busy signal. He notices there is a message and listens to it:
Pelin: I’ve done a lot of thinking, and maybe you’re right. We should focus on ourselves. Please don’t make this harder than it is.
Ferit says “Wow” upon hearing this.
Seyran notices that his mood has changed when she comes out of the bathroom and asks what happened. He says it’s nothing. Seyran says he seemed very happy before. She asks if he is upset again. He tells her that it’s because he didn’t use his ticket. Had he done so, he would be on a plane, watching the clouds from his seat. She laughs.
There’s a knock on the door from Latif, who tells Ferit that Halis wants to see Seyran. She says she will go right now. Ferit asks what it’s about. She jokes, saying his grandfather likes her more than him. Ferit laughs at that and says she hasn’t lost her sense of humor. He tells her they know he has nothing to say to his grandson. She tells him he is free to be jealous. She leaves, and he notices how different, more self-assured, she is. He goes back to his phone. He is so used to calling Pelin that it must be different for him to not do so.
Downstairs, Halis is waiting in his living room. Latif shows Seyran in. He tells her to come close and be seated. They both sit. He tells her to look at him; there is no reason to be shy.
Halis: I spoke to your aunt Hatice yesterday. You have nothing to worry about. Your father cannot take you from here whenever he wants to. Even if he wanted to, he couldn’t. This is a bit sudden, but he’s having dinner here tonight. I hope there’ll be no hard feelings between us afterward.
Seyran: I really appreciate it.
Halis: No, thank you, daughter, for being honest. Thank you for sticking with your husband despite everything. The promise I made you still holds true. I haven’t forgotten it. If you still want to, you can attend university.
Seyran looks at him and smiles. He tells her that from now on, she will have his support. She thanks him.
Halis continues: But don’t think I’ve forgotten the matter of grandchildren. You’ll find a way to do both, OK?
He tells her there’s no reason for her to be shy. He asks her to tell him how she is feeling.
Seyran: Alright, I will. (She stumbles with the words.). Ferit and I talk about it all the time.
Halis: That’s great news. Have Ferit take you shopping today and buy whatever you like. Consider it a gift from me. I’m rewarding you for all that you’ve done, so I hope you enjoy yourself and have fun.
Seyran tells him she will and thanks him. He tells her very good. Tell Ferit how insistent I am about this. I don’t want to see you two until dinner, know what I mean? She smiles and agrees.
She kisses his hand and leaves.
Halis is beaming, in a very good mood.

Episode 43 #4 of 8
Ferit: What are you talking about? Will you tell me who Pelin is with?
Burak: Ferit, let her go. She’s trying to move on. You should do the same.
Ferit: Burak, if you don’t tell me now who she’s with, I’ll find out myself.
Burak: Don’t do this to yourself, and don’t do it to Pelin. Let her see whomever she wants.
Ferit hangs up on Burak. He gets up and takes his jacket as Seyran comes back to the table.
Seyran: Ferit, is something wrong?
Ferit: Let’s go, Seyran. You coming or not?
She asks what’s up. She isn’t supposed to leave him alone. She asks if something happened to someone.
Ferit: I’m sorry, but I have to see Pelin right now. It’s urgent.
Seyran is surprised at this: You need to see Pelin?
Ferit: Seyran, it’s important. I’ll explain later.
Seyran: This is a joke, right? A bad joke?
Ferit: I’m not joking, and I promise we’ll come back later. We have to leave, Seyran.
She sits down: Do you know how embarrassing this is, Ferit?
Ferit: That doesn’t matter. We have to go. Are you coming or not?
Seyran: Of course not. I’m staying. I’m not going. Look at the situation you’re always putting me in. How can you ask if I want to go with you? Are you really leaving me here to go see Pelin?
Ferit: Yes, I am. But you’re free to do whatever you want, alright?
Ferit heads out of the restaurant. Seyran says: Then leave.
She sits back and looks at their partially eaten meal.
Abidin is outside: Ferit?
Ferit tells him they are leaving. Abidin asks about Seyran: Is she staying?
Ferit tells him she’s not coming and that he is in a hurry.
Abidin: Where are we going and why are we leaving Seyran?
Ferit: To see Pelin. I’ll give you the address. Let’s go.
Abidin tells him not to do this.
Ferit: Come with me if you like, but if not, give me the keys.
Abidin looks around and then gets in the car with Ferit.
Ferit: Nothing’s working today. Everything’s backward.
They drive off.

At their restaurant, Pelin is talking with her date, Serter. He is a friend of Burak, and they are talking about her cousin. She says she can’t picture Burak like that. They are both laughing. He says there is more to the story: We left, but Burak was so drunk and about to pass out. He tells Pelin she should have seen him.
All of a sudden, her face falls as she sees Ferit walk in. Serter notices the change and asks what’s wrong.
Ferit comes swaggering over to their table, wearing his overcoat and shades. He removes the shades. The date stands up and asks him how it’s going. Is there a problem?
Ferit: Not at all. Please sit down.
Pelin asks Serter to do what he asks. He complies.
Ferit glares at Pelin. He tells her to get up, they are leaving.
Ferit leans in: I’m talking to you. Get up now.
Serter is watching this closely and he is not a happy chappy.
Ferit asks that he not make a scene. He tells her he is trying to be nice. He again tells Pelin to get up. They are leaving. Do what I say and come, alright? Please.
Serter stand up, but Ferit pushes his shoulder: I told you to sit down. Do it.
Serter kind of complies.
Ferit: If you try to stand up again, I’ll break your legs, got it?
Serter looks at Pelin. She stands up and says: No.
Ferit look surprised: What? What did you say?
Pelin: No, I’m not coming with you, Ferit. Now go and leave us alone.
Ferit makes a not very nice face, smiles sarcastically, and says: As you wish, Pelin. OK.
Ferit walks off. Pelin is in tears. Serter watches Ferit leave. Their date is in a shambles.
He stands, goes to her and bends to her level to comfort her. He asks if she is OK.

Episode 43 #5 of 8

At the yali, Gulgun is talking to the gardener when Seyran comes walking in, perhaps having taken a taxi. Gulgun sees her and goes to speak with her.
Gulgun: Seyran, weren’t you and Ferit going shopping and out to eat? You’re back so soon.
Seyran tells her she had to come back soon.
Gulgun: Just you? Where’s Ferit?
Seyran: I walked along the shore.
Abidin and Ferit drive in just then.
Gulgun: Why didn’t you come back with Ferit?
Ferit: Nice, you went running to my mom to tell her?
Gulgun: What’s going on? Why’d you return separately?
Seyran: Your son can tell you. (Seyran gives Ferit quite a glare.) Go on, Ferit, tell her. Why did we return separately?
Gulgun: Ferit?
Ferit: It’s not important. (Seyran’s eyes are huge when he says that!)
Seyran: Your mother didn’t ask if it was important. She asked why we returned separately.
Gulgun: What’s happening? This house can’t withstand another situation, so, please tell me.
Seyran: I agree. Go on, Ferit, tell her. If it’s not that important to you, tell her. Tell you mother that you were having lunch with me when Pelin called and you dropped everything to go see her. Tell her. (Actually, Seyran has that wrong. Pelin didn’t call him. He kept dialing Pelin with no answer and then tracked her down. She had blocked his number.)
Gulguni is muy impactada.
Gulgun: Ferit? Is that true?
Ferit: Yes, Mom. I had to go, so I went.
Gulgun: Alright, but don’t argue out here. Resolve it in your room without anyone hearing you. Dinner will be served soon, and I don’t want to see you like this tonight, OK?
Seyran: That’s it? Have you nothing else to say to your son?
Gulgun: Calm down. Let’s talk about this calmly, OK? Settle down and we’ll discuss it later.
Seyran: Wow. I don’t know why I’m surprised. I’d forgotten that you had Pelin over for coffee. She must be very important to your family.
Gulgun: Look, I don’t know what happened, but you should think before you speak. (Looking at Ferit) You should also consider the consequences of your actions.
Seyran: I don’t have the words to tell you how I feel. I thought you’d support me. That you’d see the truth and support me at least this once. Now I don’t know what to think. Is there anything else you’re hiding from me? Is there something else that you’re keeping from me? I’d like to know.
Gulgun: I don’t understand what you mean.
Seyran walks toward the yali. Ferit wants to follow her, but Gulgun stops him: I’m so ashamed of you, Ferit. Why did I work so hard to protect you from everyone else? And for nothing!
Ferit: Mother, you’re overreacting.
Gulgun: A 19-year old girl just taught me a big lesson. What’s more, she’s right. I have nothing to say to defend you.
Ferit: Mother…
Gulgun: I swear I admonish myself every day for raising a spoiled brat like you and I get annoyed with myself. I’m so ashamed, upset, and disappointed, but with myself, not with you. Because I’m nothing but an inept mother who couldn’t’ raise her son properly.
Ferit: Mom, don’t exaggerate.

Gulgun: Go away, I don’t want to look at you. We’ll talk later. Now go.
Seyran runs up to the attic suite just ahead of Ferit. She locks herself in the bathroom.
Ferit bangs on the door and calls her name several times.
Ferit: Open the door right how, Seyran! She looks at her reflection in the bathroom mirror, tears running down her face.
She finally comes out. Ferit asks her if she is happy now. That she complained about him not only to Halis but to his mother.
Seyran: I should have done much more. You can’t wait till after something’s happened to think of the consequences, Ferit.c You should have thought of what would happen before leaving me alone and deciding to go with Pelin.
Ferit: I told you it was important. cWas it that hard to understand? I told you I had to go.
Seyran: Great, it was important, which you explained to your mother. It’s fine.
Ferit: Why are you behaving like this? What’s your problem? You’re acting crazy.
Seyran: I’m acting crazy? I am? Look at yourself. You’re even worse. I’d call you a dog, but that would be an insult to dogs. I just wanted to sit and have lunch with you, but you cast all that aside. How dare you do this to me, Ferit?
Ferit: I will always do whatever I want and none of that is your business. You need to understand that.
Sey ran: It’s not? Fine. Very well, if you want me to stay out of it, you’ll have to deal with the consequences. I’m going to tell your grandfather and mother whatever I want, got it, Ferit? You can’t tell me what I can and can’t do, you hear me? I really don’t get it. If Pelin is your girlfriend and you love her so much, why didn’t you tell your grandfather that you wanted to marry her instread? Why not? Didn’t you have the guts?
Ferit: You’re going too far, Seyran. Calm down, will you?
Seyran: I’m going too far? I am? That’s enough. I’m not your plaything. “Come Seyran,” “Leave, Seyran,” “Eat, Seyran,” ”Stay, but I’m leaving, Seyran.” Stop it. Who are you to put me in this situation? Who do you think you are? You don’t know anything! You’re just a spoiled brat! I am so over this. I’m done putting up with it. I will not allow this anymore. Come to your senses right now and know your place. You will never disrespect me again, got it? I don’t want you seeing Pelin again. It’s over.
Ferit: Mind your own business, Seyran!
Seyran: Don’t yell at me!
Ferit: Then don’t tell me what to do! Who do you think you are, Seyran? Pelin’s been my girlfriend for years and you know it. Don’t act like that’s new to you. You think I’d ask you for permission to be with her? What can you do? What can you do besides accept it? I don’t have the patience for you.
Seyran: Sometimes I think you’re a good person, but that’s my fault. And then I feel sorry. Sorry for myself.
She walks toward the patio.
Ferit: Exactly, Seyran. You said it. This is all your fault. Don’t demand that I be someone I’m not. Don’t expect anything from me, got it?
She stares at him a bit: I wish you hadn’t come back. I wish I hadn’t tried to stop you from leaving the country. You should have gone to New York. But you couldn’t even do that. I would have been thrilled to be rid of you and this house.

Episode 43 # 7 of 8
Ferit: Mmm, hmm. You can still be rid of us, Seyran. You can go back to your father’s house. You’ve got your own chauffer. Your stupid boyfriend can take your wherever you like. Isn’t that what you wanted? Look, there are your clothes. The door too. Leave. Go on, get out of here. Who do you think you are, Seyran? Did you really think that a kiss would deceive me? Did you think I’d die to be with you and act like I was in love? The only person that works on is that little creampuff (Spanish is “Pajarito”). He’s the only one who’d fall for it. You’re good at this game, so it wouldn’t be fair to blame him for anything. Who knows how many others you’ve deceived like that. In the end, Yusuf was just the tip of the iceberg, wasn’t he?
Both of them are crying by now, saying such hateful things. It’s clear that they are both wounded from this argument.
Seyran nods and goes on to the patio, wounded and crying. Her lovely day, the gift from Halis, has disappeared in flames. She cries on the balcony, and Ferit is watching from inside the room and then leaves.

That evening, the table is being carefully set for dinner. Outside, Yusuf drives up with Kazim. Kazim straightens his collar, which he sometimes does before “battle.” Orhan is outside waiting for him and welcomes him cordially. They go inside.

Upstairs Ferit is waiting and Seyran comes out of the bathroom dressed for dinner. She walks past him without a word and heads out and down the stairs. When she reaches the second floor Ferit calls her name. He asks her to wait, please, and says they should behave themselves.
Ferit: Your father’s here and so is my grandfather. Let’s act like everything’s fine between us.
Seyran: They can know that it’s not. I don’t care.
Ferit grabs her arm: Seyran. Your father is here.
Seyran: You think you can use my father again to scare me? I’m telling you that I’m not scared. I don’t care at all, Ferit.
Ferit: I know, and I get it, but calm down, Seyran. I’m really not trying to scare you. But my grandfather just got back from the hospital. That’s the only reason I’m asking.
Seyran pats his shoulder: I’m so glad that you know what you have to do. You should have thought of that earlier. Before, not after you already did it, Ferit. You should’ve thought of this earlier.
Seyran walks away and Ferit looks impactado.

At the dinner table, Halis is happy and making pronouncements about life: Life is like a path. It’s got a clear beginning and an uncertain end. But you can’t stop or ever go back. You must always walk till the very end. Sometimes you encounter flowers, other times, rocks. Sometimes the sky is clear, other times, there’s fog. But what’s most important is finding someone with whom to walk that path. (Ferit looks at Seyran.) We took a step toward bringing these two together on that path. When they encountered their first obstacle, it wouldn’t have been right for them to veer away from this uncertain path. We should have no hard feelings. We should forgive and try to be happy. And let them show their respect. Please forgive them, Kazim.
Kazim’s face is still hardened in a frown. He stares daggers at Ferit.
Kazim: Aga, Halis Aga (Kazim makes the “no” gesture with his mouth), my decision has not changed.

Seyran looks at him, surprised. Halis’s smile has faded.
Kazim: No, an elegant speech is not enough to change it. We spoke like Agas, man-to-man, but you disregarded what we discussed and went to my aunt. Since when are women involved in these decisions, Aga? Since when? You can‘t do this to me. It isn’t right. No, I came here to respect your invitation, but my decision remains unchanged. I am taking my daughter and leaving. (Kazim uses his arm to emphasize this, holding his beads.)
Orhan: What are you saying Kazim? You’re disrespecting us.
Kazim: Sir, you should teach what you call “respect” to your son first. Not to me. He knows nothing about respect. Further, he is trampling your honor, and it is he who disrespects you. Don’t try to teach me something that you yourself nor your son know nothing about.
Halis: That’s enough. Enough! As far as Ms. Hattuc, we spoke with decency. If you refuse to understand, you may leave now.
Kazim is impactado at hearing this,
Halis: But nobody here is taking my daughter-in-law by force.
They have a staring contest. Everyone is watching them closely.
Halis: Let’s ask your daughter. It should be her decision (Ferit turns to look at Seyran) whether she stays here with her husband or would rather leave this house with you right now.
Kazim: Very well. Let’s find out, my Aga. She’s right here. Ask her.
Halis: Seyran, dear, the decision is yours. You have nothing to fear. We are here to support you.
Ferit looks at Seyran in alarm. Kazim looks at her, face twitching. Ferit tries to hold her hand, which she immediately snatches back.
Seyran starts to speak: (long pause here as she considers her options) I will respect my father’s decision. His decision is my decision.
Kazim lifts his head with pride. Ferit’s lips are pressed together, showing his anger.
Seyran: I’m in agreement with him.

The proud face of Kazim ends this episode.

Babachita,
I think you've given folks a warning about some entries being out of order. Probably that's enough for readers to figure things out. If you want to replace all the sections, you can delete each of them yourself simply by clicking on DELETE at the end of each one. You can then replace them with the entries in the correct order. I think Miranda will get her anvil last, in the last episode. Maybe Cruz and Azufrero will have a mutual deadly shoot-out the second last episode.

Reminder for Lobo thread #2 this week April 20, 2026, that Lobo is not being shown April 23 and April 24. It will resume April 27.

Anastasia, I like the Cruz-Azufrero shootout! I also agree that Miranda last makes sense. I’d like to think Renata would turn on her mom, but that would be awful. So, maybe Renate turns her back on her mom. Graciela, I don’t know. ???

MANY THANKS, Anastasia, for pointing out that Lobo will not be shown on Friday as well as Thursday this week. That wasn't clear when I checked before putting up the Caray pages for this week, but I see that it's now clear. Presumably Lobo will be back on Monday.

As to Steve's question, my money is on Plácido, aka El Azufrero, dying next. I could be wrong due to Big Ed being a big star. But, from what I've seen, I think Cruz is wily enough to outlast El Az. The big question about Miranda is whether or not Renata figures out her mother is sketchy at best. It seems like she has to die for Antonia, Lobo, and Renata to be a family when we see the big FIN on the screen.

Well, Seyran told Ferit that his brain deletes things from one minute to the next. He forgot he told Pelo they needed to move on. This was bad.

I thought Seyran was a bit unfair to Gulgun, expecting her rip into Ferit right there in the yard. And then she asked about other cover ups. Gulgun looked shocked. FWIW, Gulgun said her piece to Ferit after Seyran left. Yes, it’s not enough.

Seyfer fights are so intense. Afram chemistry is present whether Seyfer fights or flirts.

BTW, that cute little dog in the restaurant belongs to Afra IRL. She frequently brought little Nagi to work.

I will recap #45 either Sunday or new page on Monday.

"LOBO"/OT
Anastasia, Novelera, Babachita: I should also include Lady Macbeth & Slick Fabio (who might go down for corruption) on the list.

Lady Macbeth will have to face the music regarding killing Guillermina & facing the wrath of Eugenio & Antonia.

What about Remedios & Buji Goldie Locks getting their Karma anvils ?

Excellent recap, Babachita! You got a real barnburner.

Must be nice to be so rich you wouldn't gnash your teeth about missing an international flight you'd paid for.

You can definitely see how young Seyfer are. They just can't stop goading each other. I was surprised Seyran didn't just go ahead and tell Ferit about Halis offering to fund her university education.

I'm surprised Ferit hasn't had the crap beaten out of him a lot more. He's constantly ragging on people. He clearly had the upper hand over Yusuf since Seyran came to the airport to beg him to stay, but he couldn't resist jabbing verbally at Yusuf. Yusuf seems to want to keep that job and didn't punch him.

And I suppose we're to understand that Serter is a grown up. He's not going to get into a fistfight in a restaurant with Ferit, but I suspect he could win one.

Then, as always, he does something to redeem himself, at least a bit. He appreciates and respects Abidin and rightfully thanked him for saving his bacon by destroying the "journalist's" photos.

Why can't Ferit let go of Pelin? Seyran nailed it. Why didn't he insist on marrying her in spite of what his grandfather wanted?

And it's always someone else's fault when something goes wrong. He was terrified waiting for Seyran's response to Halis.

I continue to be surprised that Kazim's greed takes a backseat to his stubbornness.

Wow! Anastasia, thanks so very much for alerting us to the Great Performances segment dealing with Turkish music and Istanbul. It was riveting and I enjoyed every single minute.

#44 – A Forced Rescue +- #1 of 3

We again see Halis ask Seyran to decide whether to stay or to go. And Ferit looks terrified, doubtless because of the awful thing he did going after Pelin. Not to mention the terrible things he said to her afterwards at the yali. As we saw last episode, she agrees with Kazim.

The Korhans are shocked. Kazim is smug. He tells Seyran to pack only what’s necessary. Ferit starts to go after her, but Kazim puts his hand on Ferit’s shoulder to keep him there.

Halis, in a threatening tone: Take your hand off my grandson’s shoulder. Kazim complies, and Ferit goes after Seyran. Halis says this is really a shame. Your father was a man I respected. He was a man of faith and lived by that. He knew me as a patriarch and never would have disrespected me. I later learned that he envied me, and he was right to do so. Kazim looks murderous. You have the same fault in your character. You treat me like the patriarch, but you can’t contain your envy. You poison us with it. Your ingratitude could kill me right now.

Kazim tells him to stop. And to respect him. Halis roars. Has your lust for my money driven you crazy? Every time I give to you, you want even more. There’s no end to it. Raising his voice even more: Get out! I don’t want to see your face anymore. Take your daughter and go. And then leave the house in the city. You need to find another place, rat! How dare you contradict me in my own home! Go back to your stable, peasant. Halis orders that no one give them a ride back.

Seyran is packing. Ferit comes in wondering why she did what she did. Is she crazy? The reply is that she did the right thing. You always threaten to send me back, and now I choose to go. You don’t know me at all. I’ve been afraid too long. He grabs hold of her and says she can’t leave. She says he’s free to be with Pelin now. Ferit is worried about what Kazim will do. I can take care of myself. Ferit, looking at her back as she leaves, seems to realize what he’s done.

Halis is still enraged. He orders Orhan to go to the house and take the keys. Ifakat tries to calm him. Gulgun whispers to Orhan that he should pretend to go after Kazim’s keys.

At the high rise, Kazim starts in on Seyran in the corridor, saying she’s just like her mother. [Not really; Esme is more beaten down.] He says that Seyran is lazy. He reminds her he asked if Ferit had made mistakes. You couldn’t even hold his hand. If you couldn’t be a wife to him, why didn’t you tell me? I should have known. This is all your fault. You’re useless. What am I going to do? [What did he think would happen when he showed up there full of resentment and saying he would take his daughter home? That they’d plead with him?]

#44 – A Forced Rescue +- #2 of 3

He pounds on the door. As always, Esme goes to the door, and a raving Kazim enters. Hattuc asks what happened after Kazim says everything they planned fell apart. He starts spitting venom, telling Hattuc that Halis said his father was jealous because he wasn’t as powerful. He called us ungrateful peasants!

Suna has come down and looks shocked. Hattuc reverts to type and demands to know if Seyran was disrespectful. Kazim says being disrespectful wasn’t Seyran’s mistake. She couldn’t behave like a wife, and I blame her stupid mother. Her mistake is not trusting her father. Because you lied to me, everyone there was able to humiliate me. [Nope, Kazim, you did that all by yourself.]

Kazim says that his head hurts, and he’s in pain. [I’m trying to remember when he was unconscious before. Did Esme hit him over the head?] He orders them to start packing. They have to leave. Suna looks so very sad.

Ferit leaves the yali, but his mother follows. He reassures her that he just needs some time alone.

Orhan and Fuat are in a car, with Abidin driving. Ferit calls to ask if they’re on the way to Seyran’s house. Fuat says that they are but only trying to calm things. Ferit asks them not to go in before he gets there.

The doorbell rings at the high rise. Ferit enters, followed by his father and brother. Hattuc asks why they couldn’t wait until morning to throw them out. Ferit rushes in yelling for Seyran. It’s good Orhan and Fuat are there to help control Kazim. Ferit finds Seyran at the top of a staircase with her mother and sister. He looks at her longingly. She looks intently at him, confused, but not angry. He runs up the stairs and speaks to Esme. Please. Looking into his eyes for a moment, Esme stands aside. Seyran quietly asks him to go.

I will, Seyran, and so will you. I’m not coming with you. You will. He moves in and slings her over one shoulder. She is screaming to be put down. Fuat opens the door and Ferit walks out with his wife. Orhan struggles to hide his smile. Kazim simply passed out on the floor. [Dare we hope he’s gone to the great beyond?]

In the garage Abidin asks Ferit if he’s gone crazy. Abi, I need you to help me. Ferit puts her in the car. Seyran tells Abi she needs him to help her. Abi tells her he’s sorry, but what can he do. Abi waves goodbye. Abi smiles to himself and says, “crazy kids”. [Ferit lost his license for the drunk driving mistake. Hope he drives carefully.]

#44 – A Forced Rescue +- #3 of 3

Ferit brings Seyran to a sort of log cabin. [Is this the place he stayed with Pelin before the flight he didn’t take? I can’t tell.] Seyran gripes, saying the place is scary. The big Ferit grin is back. He tells her there’s nothing to fear. He’ll protect her. Maybe there’s a few rats in there, but it will be better inside. She insists he go first. He snarks that, if something happened to him, she’d run away and leave him. She complains about the cold. They exchange a few of their usual complaints.

Ferit is chopping wood and Seyran, of course, notices he’s not that good at it and tells him not to cut himself. He wonders aloud if she’d care for him if he did. He’s told he’d need to find someone else for that because she left him. Ferit asks if she isn’t tired of the nonsense. Seyran reminds him how his grandfather and her father yelled at each other. She thinks they’re going back to Antep. Ferit insists Kazim will change his mind.

Ferit gathers up the wood. Seyran gripes some more about his having brought her here. He says that they need time to think. Seyran insists that things can’t be fixed. Ferit: You still don’t know me. You talk about me, but you don’t believe me. For me, nothing is impossible. If Ferit Korhan says he’ll fix it, he will.

Typical Ferit, he asks Seyran if she brought a lighter. She laughs out loud. You didn’t bring a lighter. Maybe you can rub sticks together. She rolls her eyes and says she saw a lighter in the kitchen. Smiling, he says he’ll start the fire and she can make a salad.

I was confused reading the first post, I felt like something was missing. I like reading these before watching the episodes so I'm not guessing what was said. Not sure what word gets targeted. When mine get blocked there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. Luckily, knock on wood, I've been able to post my recaps okay.

comments and edits for #44 part 1

Thank you, novelera. Excellent recap and asides as always. Babachita, I owe you thanks for your recap of #43. I cut and pasted my comments from Word but left out the thank you. So sorry. Your recaps are very valuable.

I’m annoyed. There were so many edits in this episode. Some big, some small. It’s a shame. I could write a full episode recap on what they cut. I’ll give you the more important/interesting ones.

But first, the dinner scene was great. It was even better in Turkish. Kazim scored some points regarding Ferit’s behavior and the lack of adequate parenting. I think Seyran secretly enjoyed that. But Halis won the night. The translations were interesting. Citing Kazim’s envy and ingratitude, Halis told Kazim, if you had the opportunity, you’d drown me in a spoonful of water! He called Kazim a dog (köpek). He told him to go back to the chicken coop he came from and called him/his family “marabalar” (sharecroppers).

Now the edits:

Ferit tearfully watches from the balcony as Seyran leaves the yali. She turns and sees him. She has a satisfied but sort of sad smile. A song we heard in an earlier episode, Fırtınadayım/ I’m in a Storm, plays. This was the end of Turkish episode #14.

Ferit goes back inside and has a massive anxiety attack/breakdown. He recalls what Seyran said at the dinner table, things she told him before she left, things at the airport, and some things that Pelin told him at the vacation house. I think he realizes he’s losing Seyran, his wife, and Pelin, his safe place. We only saw Ferit sitting on the floor against the foot of his bed.

Note: In the preview for this Turkish episode, we saw Asuman go up to Ferit’s room and open the door. She looked stunned at what she saw. Whatever was meant to be after that, we never saw.. Apparently, the showrunners decided to go in a different direction. Viewers never forgot this. Going forward, if there was a “beanie moment” in the dizi, it was said, let Asuman open the door and bring us back to reality.

After Kazim orders them to pack up, Seyran realizes the gravity of the situation. Her anger is replaced with sadness and silent tears. She tells Suna quietly, it’s over. It’s really over this time. Meanwhile, Hattuc is obviously thinking she has lost Halis for the second time.

Orhan and Fuat try to talk Ferit out of going up to Kazim’s apartment with them. He tells them to tend to their business with Kazim and not to interfere with his.

Esme and Suna pack while Seyran processes what has happened. She apologizes to Suna and blames herself for ruining everything for her. Esme and Suna comfort Seyran. Esme says, let’s do what dad says and maybe he will change his mind once he calms down. Seyran is convinced there’s no way back from this. Esme tells her, don’t say that, you never know what God will decide. [ha, or what Ferit Korhan will do.]

comments and edits for #44 part 2

They cut everything that happens on Seyfer’s drive to the Korhans’ country house [not Pelin’s]. Too bad, there was a ton of entertaining Seyfer banter. Seyran protests vehemently. Ferit is proud of himself. He says, tell that camel [Yusuf] that this is how you kidnap a girl! He tells her they will just talk. Nothing bad will happen, and if she wants afterwards, he’ll take her back to her father. He says, someday we will tell our children about this!

Kazim regains consciousness and Fuat takes his blood pressure. Kazim wants to call the police to report the kidnapping. Orhan laughs it off. Hattuc reminds Kazim that Ferit is the husband—was he supposed to let you destroy his family? She immediately follows it up with, my God, you made me say something good about him (Ferit). Orhan asks Suna, can you make us some sweet coffee? Looks like it will be a long night. Suna goes to the kitchen and immediately calls Ifakat.

Seyran keeps asking Ferit where they are going and when will they get there. He snarks, how did you last 9 months inside your mother? We’re going someplace where we can talk in peace. He tells her they need to stop at a store, he didn’t eat anything at dinner. She complains and he reminds her about his blood sugar. She asks him if he took insulin with him. He says no, he barely remembers leaving the house.

Ferit stops at a small grocery store and says they should buy enough for a couple of days. She’s alarmed at this. They get out of the car. He tells her she’s ruining everything. She needs to trust him. He says, I’m very tired. We’ll buy stuff here and I’ll have to rest when we get there. Then he pretends to have a dizzy spell. She gets worried and then annoyed. He bluffs, if you really want to go and put my health at risk, okay, let’s go. She grabs him and they go shopping. An entire cute shopping scene was cut.

Seyfer arrive at the country house. She’s obviously very cold. He offers his pullover hoodie to wear. But she even complains about that before she takes it. A wolf howls and she’s frightened. We miss out on more Seyfer banter. This is a shame. Their chemistry is what makes the series so good.

Orhan and Fuat return home. Ifakat is there waiting. Fuat goes to his room. Ifakat tells Orhan that Suna called, and she knows about the kidnapping. Of course, Orhan says, she’s worried for herself. Ifakat replies, she’s right. We promised her so much. He says he’s tired and they can talk tomorrow. She offers a massage. He asks, where is Gulgun? Gulgun went to bed a while ago, she replies, should we continue this in my room? He kisses her hand and nods yes. She goes up first and leaves Orhan, who looks like he might realize what he’s doing is wrong.

Ha, Ferit chopping wood goes against the dizi trope of the big strong hero, sometimes shirtless, chopping wood while the woman moons over him. Loved it.

I will post #45 on the new Monday page. I hope they don’t edit anything else at the country house.
