Iñigo reminds Mom that she needs him to save Mateo, but she still wants him gone so Luciano and Zac escort him out of the house, with Luciano telling him never to set foot on the ranch again. Iñigo throws a punch which Luciano ducks to avoid, grabs him around the waist and throws him to the ground. As Iñigo.limps away he wonders how they knew to check the DNA. Everyone is going to pay, he tells himself.
Zac and Aitana need to leave to attend the wake. Nuria wonders who died and learns about Ximena. She tells Eloisa some home truths about her oh so perfect family. The only ones worthy are Luciano and Bruno. She's so glad she divorced Iñigo and has the restraining order against him, and she also wants the girls to stay away from Eloisa. Iñigo has dragged himself over to Larisa's and lets her know that all the world knows he's the dad. I don't know how Nuria got your blood to run the test.
Now Luciano and Belinda are going to the wake while the new nurse takes Eloisa to her room.
Larisa tells Iñigo that Nuria needed a blood sample when her dad was really sick. It was a trap, Iñigo states the obvious as Larisa figures Aitana set it up. Larisa says I'm sure she sent them.the video of us going to the hotel. Too late Iñigo, you should have believed me.
Nuria is furious. How will I tell the girls they are having a brother? Juanjo advises that it is up to Iñigo, you don't have to tell them. Your girls eventually will figure out what kind of a man their father is.
At the wake Luciano tells Mica that he doesn't want to make Ximena's parents uncomfortable as he's the brother of their daughter’s assassin. He gives her some money to give them anonymously to pay for the arrangements for Ximena.
Eloisa takes some medicine from the nurse and tells her she wants to be alone. She wonders how to get the false passport to Mateo.
Iñigo is sure Mom will get over it and give his son whatever his father wanted the first grandson to inherit. Larisa tells him it's not going to be born, it has a defect, cleft palate. Iñigo looks shocked.
Luciano talks with Aitana at the wake. He feels like an idiot. Aitana tells him it's hard to I'ma your brother could do such a thing.
Iñigo thinks this can be fixed. We'll get money from mom. She insists the baby won't be. He tells her he has a say in it as he takes the drink from her, but she's not having it and asks him to leave. He hopes she'll think about it.
Luciano visits mom. She laments that the family is destroyed. The only ones left are him and Belinda. I'll never accept that bastard child. Luciano tells her it's not the baby's fault but she insists.
Now it's Nuria's turn to visit Larisa. Can I get you anything? Nuria slaps her. Twice! A screaming match ensues then Nuria leaves.
The lawyer or whoever Eloisa gave the jewels to texts her that he has the money. Should he bring it to the hacienda? She tells him to meet her at the hospital waiting room and to put the money in a large envelope. Well it wasn't the lawyer as he came to visit Eloisa. She asks the maid and nurse to leave. She has a job for him that pays well.
Luciano visits Belinda in her room. She says everyone knows all our scandals. How about we move somewhere that nobody knows us.
The lawyer doesn't do false passports. Eloisa imagines he knows somebody, which he does. He'll act as the intermediary but if it goes wrong he has nothing to do with it. ( Here I'm thinking she sent for the lawyer to write Iñigo out of the will.)
Belinda works on dad some more. Gael wants to go to uni so we both can enroll in Mexico City. . Luciano says abuela would never move. Try and get her to go for a while at least.
The lawyer and Eloisa discuss the car against Amando. The lawyer says we could have a verbal agreement that when the money is returned you will drop the charges. But with nothing signed you can renege on the deal.
Gael tells Belinda he would follow her to the city to study, but his parents, Zac and Luciano would never leave this place. She sees his point.
Larisa's very bad day continues with a visit from Luciano who grabs her by the arms and demands how she could cheat on him with his brother. And another fight I don't feel like describing. .I'm sure you all understood it.
Eloisa meets her jewelry seller at the hospital. He puts the manila envelope in her bag and leaves.
Larisa wants to know how Luciano found out and blames Aitana. She videoed us leaving the hotel. We had an agreement. She isn't who you think she is. Lucino asks who she is.
Mateo, looking like the homeless man he is now, meets mom in the waiting area and gets the money and passport, I think, from mom. He's sad he'll get far from her. He leaves.
Larisa gives Luciano the investigation report on Aitana, aka Adriana. I don't know why she is hiding her identity, you go figure it out.
Nuria and the girls are in the big city at the hotel. While mom uses the restroom they send dad a voicemail to let him know they are on their way to the amusement park.
Luciano groans in despair in the parking garage. You also lied to me. He calls her to talk.
Luciano meets Aitana at a cafe. She doesn't like the way he demanded she meet him. He wants to know if she knew Iñigo and Larisa were lovers while we were engaged.
She admits she knew, and she was the guardian angel that sent him the anonymous tips about them. He then asks who Adriana Rodriguez is and why did you lie.
The girls send Nuria for ice cream as they wait for dad. Someone gives the girls a note from dad, meet me at the car at the entrance. Off they go. Nuria can't find Erika and Ana. They got in the car with dad.
Yes, I am Adriana. I took the name Aitana so my abusers wouldn't find me. I was studying to be a nurse in Matlan. I didn't want anyone from my past to know I returned. I came back to get justice against your family. Your brothers and cousin were my abusers after the festival. Bruno was with them but didn't do anything. Your mother made him keep silent. I recently learned Mateo is Belinda's father. They both cry (will he forgive her, finally that secret is out).
There were a few scenes with Mateo by himself in a dive motel room that were mostly self explanatory.
I kept this shorter as most of the scenes are pretty easy to follow.
Thanks, Kat.
Very enjoyable episode.
YES! FINALLY! Aitana got the truth out of her mouth and into Luciano’s ears. The script was so annoying as it took her forever hemming and hawing to do so. I hope we get to hear more of that conversation.
I actually felt bad for Larisa with each successive knock knock at her door. It was like a comedy sketch with her opening that door and each visitor having an axe to grind with her. She needs to go get that money and live the fine life far away from Mexican soil.
Poor Nuria with her hateful and stupid daughters scampering off with their father. I wonder how long before he needs to get away quickly and has to dump them to save himself.
Kat, thank you for your detailed recap. I especially enjoyed "Mateo, looking like the homeless man he is now..." which was perfect, especially watching him tear into that sandwich like the starving, desperate, despicable rat he is.
Jarifa, thank you for posting the missing Part 1.
I loved the furious Luciano picking Iñigo up and throwing him down on the ground with such ease! I'm not quite sure why he is taking the girls. To use as leverage? Where is he going to take them - does he have anywhere to stay now that he's been banished from the family home? More grief for Nuria.
Finally, more truth and another bitter pill for Luciano to swallow. I thought his conversation with Adriana was heartbreaking, both of them in tears after her shocking revelation. Is confession truly good for the soul? I felt for her and all of the pain she has had to endure and keep bottled up inside her. Although in shock now, I have no doubt Luciano will forgive her.
Mateo looks more deranged every time we see him. Hopefully his ending is coming quickly.
Diana
"Poor Nuria with her hateful and stupid daughters scampering off with their father. I wonder how long before he needs to get away quickly and has to dump them to save himself". I suspect you are exactly right Jarifa and that is what will happen. Perhaps a hard lesson is what needs to happen for those spoiled girls to realize the terrible person he is and appreciate Nuria for the loving and protective mother she is.
Diana
Thanks Jarifa, I knew I could count on you. I was mad at the spoiled girls, but couldn't believe Nuria left them in the first place. But she actually was in eyesight of them so it wasn't that far away. I would have said you want ice cream, so do I and I don't have enough hands so you wait in line with me, lol That was the least busy amusement park I've ever seen, no lines anywhere.
Did anyone get what the letter Eloisa wrote Mateo said? Does he need to have a recent photo taken and that he needs to change his appearance as much as possible? If so, I assume a passport was not in with what Eloisa gave him.
I also have had a bit of a soft spot for Larisa. She hasn't been the typical bad girl. I don't understand her fear of having a baby with a mild birth defect, and Daddy's money will make the financial issues go away. If the money didn't belong to Luciano, and it was Iñigo's inheritance she absconds with I'm all in favor of her taking it and raising her son far away from him.
Hurtling to the finish. Thanks, Kat.
Kat, I think you are right about Mateo’s not yet having the false passport. The lawyer told Eloisa photos were needed. Eloisa told Mateo that instructions were in the envelope.
Zac at the wake in his plaid shirt ?
I too felt sorry for desperate Larisa trying to fend off attacks from all sides!
And poor Luciano, now has to absorb being Belinda’s uncle! In the final scene between Aitana and Luciano, Aitana expressed that justice had been done and she no longer need to stay quiet: Mateo will be in prison for killing Ximena, Iñigo has lost everything, and Eloisa is paying too “in a way.”
Clara
Poor Nuria, she’s probably thinking the girls have been kidnapped. I wonder if Inigo is planning to take them far away. I have no sympathy for them. They’re old enough to know what their disappearance will do to their mother. Hopefully Inigo will be jailed for taking the girls. It’s time for Nuria to show her proof of the abuse she suffered and have him locked up.
I loved poor Larisa getting slapped, yelled at and everything. She tried to blame it all on Inigo but she had quite a long affair with him.
I’m guessing Thursday is the grand finale!
Kat, thank you for guiding us through another dark episode as the villains scramble to survive the damage that they have caused. I wrote a long comment , but I most it before I could publish .
Larissa, you probably shouldn't open that door anymore unless you want more slaps and yelling .
Writers, Please give us some hope and happiness after leading us through this garden of evil . I think that the people who actually know how to run a ranch (Clem's family )will end up owning the ranch and making it successful. Susan
Thank you, Kat. I missed the episode but will catch up tonight. I have seen a few clips to tide me over.
Luciano body slamming Iñigo was pure gold. While yes Aitana has been withholding things from Luciano she also opened his eyes to what was going on around him. Bruno was too ashamed to tell him anything and that’s understandable.
Aitana might not have known Larisa’s plan but she was still smart in her own blackmail. Even if her baby was healthy I still wonder if Larisa would actually keep it. If Eloisa essentially disowns Iñigo, Larisa won’t benefit from anything. Her dad really made a mess of things and left her to fend for herself. I guess that’s her villain punishment. Although I agree that she wasn’t a typical villain.
TF: These group of villains are just downright lost causes & need to get those Karma anvils.
By the wall, how many months pregnant is Larissa supposed to be ? She has no baby bump at all and is still wearing a tight belt ?
If that baby is born, I think Adriana and Luciano or Nuria and Juanjo will raise him with love . susan
Susan, she is more than 12 weeks because the Dr said it was too late for a regular abortion. Anatomy scans are performed between 18 and 22 weeks, and i think that is what discovered the cleft palate. So my guess is she is around 200 weeks. Not sure what the rules are in Mexico but the clock is ticking for her to even be able to have the abortion she wants. Poor baby will have fetal alcohol syndrome if she keeps it, she's been drinking like a sailor since she found out there was a genetic problem.
Wow, not even a tiny bump . Maybe the actress refused to look pregnant. Poor baby . I think Nuria might adopt him because he is brother to her girls , and she has a kind, loving heart. Susan
Aitana tells Luciano about the abusers and that she became pregnant by the worst of them, Mateo, a cruel crazy killer. who would have imagined my life would be so terribly changed at 22 years of age. Zacarias and I were novios. Luciano: You were novios?
Aitana: Yes, and we were happy. Then one day your cousin accosted me in the park but I got away from him but he took a fancy to me, so when he saw me alone that night he orchestrated my violation.
Nuria is getting the park security involved in looking for the girls. The security guard gives others a description of the 8 and 10 year olds and what they were wearing over his walkie talkies.
Luciano: How did you know they were my brothers? Aitana: Zac would tell me about the patrons' sons he worked for. (she rattles off the 4 names). While I was being r*ped they said each other's names. I bit them and scratched them. One of them was standing there as though he was paralyzed. I learned later he was Bruno.
Nuria calls Juanjo about the missing girls. He's on his way.
Aitana: after the attack they left. I laid there for quite a while before I was able to make my way home. My father guessed what had happened. We were going to report it, then the fire happened. I didn't want to leave my father but I couldn't free him from the fallen beam and he told me to leave and save myself. That fire was very convenient for my abusers, Luciano. I'm convinced it was Mateo that started it in collusion with your mother. ( Du, du dun).
Well now Eloisa is getting the ball rolling on changing her will. The new nurse calls the notary, senora Lizarrága wants someone to come as soon as possible to draw up a new will. The nurse tells Eloisa the message will be passed on and they will get back to us. Eloisa: Good, Iñigo will be left without a single penny of the inheritance. I can't forgive what he has done.
Luciano: My mother was involved? Aitana: yes, so there would be no trace of what they had done. One time I overheard a conversation between them about the secret they shared regarding that night. I put the pieces together and figured they were behind it (Luciano nods in agreement). I also have no doubt your mother knew about the violation and she covered it up.
Iñigo ushers his girls into the hotel suite. Eat your hamburgers, watch TV, I have to go out. You're going to leave us here alone! Your not alone you are together, you're big girls, nothing will happen to you. But we escaped mom to be with you. Iñigo sits on the couch and covers his face. ( I guess he didn't plan this very well )
Initially I hated you, I thought you were the guy who orchestrated it all, then your cousin arrived, and he knew I was lying. He was the only one that recognized me. Luciano asks what happened then? She describes the way he tried to attack her again and how she fought him off and thought she had killed him. Later I learned a truck hit him. He totally deserved it, they both agree. Luciano: Now I see you came to the hacienda for vengeance. Aitana: no for justice. Luciano: I will help.you get justice against my brothers and mother.
Iñigo scoots out. the girls realize their mistake. We should have stayed at the park. Mom never leaves us alone. I don't like this place. ( Look for a room phone and call mom, silly girls).
At the park the security guards say per the camera footage your daughters got in a grey car outside the gates, nobody made them get in.
Nuria can't believe it, they don't know the city. They seemed to know who was in the car. (No plates visible on the camera footage?)
Luciano now learns about Zac, how initially he didn't recognize her, but lobo did. She couldn't have managed without him. Luciano understands now their closeness (and if she sticks with Zac I think this makes it easier for him, but I'm sure that she and Luciano are the end game).
So Iñigo’s game is pretending to be a kidnapper and demanding 2 million in cash. Don't alert the police. He uses a burner phone to send the message.
Aitana and Luciano discuss the trauma Bruno went through being forced to stay silent by his brothers and mother.
Iñigo sent the ransom demand to Eloisa. She calls Luciano but his phone is turned off.
Now they discuss Iñigo some more, his violation of Nuria, how Aitana tried to get her to charge him, but she couldn't because of her daughters. Aitana understands as she feels the same way about Belinda learning her father is a r*pist. Luciano asks is it because of my family you can't be with me?
Larisa just keeps drinking! She gets a call from a Lizarrágas lawyer accepting the terms to remove the charges against her father, but not until they have the money in Mexico. Larisa will leave in the morning to get it. Larisa wonders why. Do they want the money or the baby? Hmm. What's best for my future? Keep everything or give it your share?
Aitana: despite loving you with all my heart, what future could I have with all these secrets? When the opportunity came up that your mother needed speciality care I took the job. Luciano: How could you after what she did? Aitana: At first I didn't realize she knew what they had done. Also I'm a nurse . We have ethics. Luciano: and you kept silent to protect Belinda. Aitana nods yes
The lawyer visits Eloisa. She wants to leave everything to Luciano, with something for the granddaughters. The lawyer says and the others. Mateo I leave my jewels provided he evades the law ( or son like that).
Aitana: the irony. My daughter was adopted by you and has been raised in her family. Luciano: I can never forgive any of them, I'd like to give up the Lizarrága name!
Nuria calls Iñigo with the news the girls went missing, there is an amber alert. He chews her out for leaving them alone (as he is really doing). You are a bad mother, you took them to the city without letting me know, blah blah.
Aitana asks Luciano to forgive her (another twist in the typical TN trope, he hadn't become furious with her for lying to him). He tells her he has nothing to forgive. Aitana says the saying God's time is perfect. She is ready to go back to Zac's house. Luciano tells her this scandal will break. I think it's best for Belinda to go with you to your mother's in Mexico City. If you can convince her I'll go, she says . Think of yourself Luciano, you are not like the others. Don't suffer the consequences that you didn't earn. She asks him to forgive her and he wants a hug .
Luciano goes to Mom's room. Finally, she says. Luciano: You and I have to talk. Eloisa: Hannah and Erika were kidnapped. That's why I asked you to come here. Luciano reads the message and calls Nuria. The two of them come to the conclusion Iñigo is behind the kidnapping. Nuria has a cousin who's a police officer and she is going to call him. They are going to trap Iñigo. Eloisa: You believe your son is capable of kidnapping his own daughters? Luciano: of this and much more. And you know it. I want to talk about what your sons have done and you were complicit to.
Aitana sits on Zac's couch. She's feeling relieved it's all out in the open now. Zac wonders if now Luciano knows if things have changed.
Luciano tells mom he knows it all, the abuse, the lies etc. but what you don't realize is Aitana is the girl they abused all those years ago. Eloisa: That can't be! Luciano: It is. She didn't die in the house fire that killed her father. The fire that Mateo set with your approval. Eloisa: That's an atrocity! Luciano is on a roll. The atrocity brought consequences. Belinda was conceived that night. Belinda is the daughter of Mateo.
Juanjo joins Nuria in Mexico City. He also thinks Iñigo is behind it. But they need proof . Nuria: How did he know they were here if they had no cellphones? He finds the tablet that Iñigo gave them and opens the message they sent Iñigo. Here's the proof. Nuria has no doubt he did it to get 2 million from his mother.
Aitana: no, nothing has changed between us. Luciano and I are over. Zac: Are you sure?
Nuria's talking to her cousin. It's not his jurisdiction, but he has friends in the city. Send me the taxi’s plate number and with the security cameras we'll find them.
Luciano can't believe his mother hid the crime against Aitana. We see an interesting flashback where Bruno is all upset about it while a drunk Iñigo gloats about what they did. Eloisa enters and demands to know what they are talking about. Iñigo claims this girl that primo Luciano liked let them all donut with them. Bruno tells mom, she did not want them, they r*ped her.
Juanjo wonders if the girls have their passports…Nuria calls Ceci to check for them. Good they are there.
Eloisa: I did it to protect them from a childish mistake.Luciano tells mom what she did was not protecting them, it was complicity. He's going to sell everything and put her in assisted living and if she fights him in it he'll turn her in to the authorities, and after it's all sold he's moving far away from her.
Luciano goes to Belinda and tells her he agrees that moving away is the best for them. Mom will go to a retirement home with people her age. Belinda thinks she'll hate that, but it's not her problem. He says it will take a bit of time to sell it all, but he doesn't want her to remain there another day. Tomorrow she and Aitana will leave. Do not say goodbye to abuela. Why? She wonders. He can't give her an answer at this time. Let's pack your suitcase. I'll miss you. He says he'll see her every weekend.
Eloisa can't believe what she learned about Aitana. She calls the lawyer (is this the same one that came to the house,) and asks if Mateo's passport is ready. Yes. Tell him to come see me at the ranch before he leaves. It's important.
Aitana calls Belinda to coordinate their departure tomorrow at midday. They want to say their goodbyes to Clem and Juventino, etc and Camila (is that Belinda's horse?). Aitana is ecstatic they are going to be living together.
Last night's episode was really good. It didn't feel rushed trying to tie up loose ends like so many of these shows seem to do. More backstory we hadn't seen after the attack on Aitana. More justification in her feelings for Zac which I've been mad at for her seeming to string him along. I think he was prepared for her to break up with him after he learned that Luciano knew the truth. Bin his heart he knows she doesn't love him as much as she loves Luciano.
Here is a fun site I found while looking up an expression I heard someone say in Guardian ("no canta mal las rancheras"):

A lot of dialogue! Thank you, Kat, for this and all your recaps.
Iñigo certainly did not plan well. Luciano made the good point of why would a kidnapper send the ransom demand to the grandmother, instead of the father?
About the will. Eloisa asked the lawyer (don’t think he is the same as the passport enabler) if the modified will could be signed today. He said yes, and Eloisa said she wanted Luciano to inherit everything, with the condition that he set up trusts for the granddaughters. The lawyer asked: nothing for Mateo and Iñigo? Eloisa did not mention Iñigo, but replied Mateo should get her jewelry, he’ll be able to use that wherever he is. But didn’t she already sell her jewelry for the fake passport? And did she actually sign the new will that day?
When Aitana asked Luciano for forgiveness for hiding her secrets, he said if she had told him earlier, it would’ve been harder for him to believe her.
Good catch on Camilo the horse. I thought I misheard Cleme.
Clara
A proverb in the flashback of the gloating aftermath. It is gross, and they laughed at it. Literally who cries at being given free bread, something like “don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.”
Clara
Kat, thank you for another excellent recap.
I especially enjoyed your narrative including "More backstory we hadn't seen after the attack on Aitana. More justification in her feelings for Zac which I've been mad at for her seeming to string him along. I think he was prepared for her to break up with him after he learned that Luciano knew the truth". I thought the same thing. I do believe Zac is a decent man and that he will speak up because he knows Aitana truly loves Luciano as you noted.
I do wonder though if deep in her heart Aitana realizes how difficult and perhaps painful her life with Luciano would be considering what his family did to her...
Thank you Clara for "When Aitana asked Luciano for forgiveness for hiding her secrets, he said if she had told him earlier, it would’ve been harder for him to believe her". That hadn't occurred to me but in mulling it over, it does make sense.
Eloisa's world is crashing around her, and I have not an iota of sympathy. Love Luciano is going to see her home from under her and put her in an assisted living facility (is she going to have time to change the will AGAIN?).
Iñigo is an idiot.
Diana
Inigo asking for money was a surprise. Was he going to return them after he got his money, or keep them. Either way, he’ll be arrested for kidnapping. He and his brother, dumb and dumber. Too bad their mother didn’t report them for rape when they were young. They would have had a chance to straighten out their lives. Bruno looked so you g in that flashback. Poor kid. And I wonder if the trafficking ring is not going to be solved in this show.
I thought Eloisa was going to change her will again after Luciano told her his plans. But she has no one else to leave it to.
I’m surprised Aitana seems to still be with Zac. I don’t see him moving to Mexico City.
Clara, thanks for your addition to the dialogue. I knew the granddaughters were to get something but not that she wanted Luciano to set up a trust for them. I would have thought that was something she would have done. I also wondered about the jewelry comment, but maybe she didn't sell it all yet
Liz, Bruno was only 14 it was so very realistic the actor they used to portray him.
Diana, I agree, Aitana does have all the bad feelings towards Luciano's family to deal with if she stays with him, but the final scene in the credits each episode show Aitana and Luciano together so I figure they are destined for each other.
I too have a hard time seeing Aitana and Luciano moving forward as a couple. Maybe we’ll have a montage of therapy sessions and skip years ahead before ending with the HEA.
Clara
Kat, thank you for another excellent replay as all the chess pieces get into place .
I wonder if the police will nab Mateo when he goes to visit his mom.
I think somehow Adriana and Luciano will find a way to put the awful events of the past in the past . Luciano was gone for years and had no idea what had happened . However, I cannot get over the writers deciding to make BSC Mateo Belinda's father leaving her with that dark shadow over her.
Waiting to see what anvils Inigo and Mateo will get . I am ready for this dark drama to end. Next! Susan
I'm still watching . Last night , I remembered that in AV, the teen actress loved the word " okay." She was a brat . Rulli was much more mature and treated her like the petulant child that she was. Her bulimia was a big issue . Susan
Kat, yes, for some reason , novelas reveal the couples destined to be together in the introduction . I wonder if they will ever stop doing that . susan
Susan I'm still watching also. I never saw AV so can't respond to your observation. I did notice in one scene that a telenovela was playing. It was Recetta. The young girl in this show was Sam in that one. I think the scene was in the house with Salvador's sister, dad and niece.
Anonymous RE Hermanas, since nobody is recapping it's not being discussed. I think Susan or Liz is watching it though.
Kat, yes Salvador's niece was in Recetta,. She is a very talented young actress .
I gave up on Hermanos after watching the first episode because it was so dark and violent , and I planned to watch Guardian . Susan
The guy getting Mateo his passport brings it to him along with a suitcase with what I believe will be a disguise so he can go see his mother.
Iñigo texts Larisa hoping their soon to be rich son is doing ok. Call me. Meanwhile his girls sit bored in the hotel room. Telling him they are hungry (at least he went back to them). He tells them there is food in the kitchen. But it's cold, one of them complains. Iñigo says to eat it anyhow. Now they tell him they are bored. They don't like it here doing nothing. They suggest a game (digalo con mimica. Charades?). It's late, go to bed. We're not tired. Can you order us pizza? He blows up and tells them I told you to go to bed. They run off. He's says to himself if Larisa doesn't come through (does he want her to steal Daddy's money and take him with her, not sure) then I'll have to demand more for the girls from mom.
Luciano cries about what Aitana told him. He pushes a glass of liquor off the bar.
Mateo's disguise is a formal suit and tie and a COVID mask. He's the lawyer's assistant the police guards are told, and since he is sick he's wearing the mask. They let them through. The kitchen maid lets them in and leads them upstairs.
Iñigo has been traced to the hotel. Nuria and Juanjo are with the police. They knock and demands he comes out with his hands up as it sounds like a dozen police cars arrive. The girls are confused.
Mateo enters Eloisa's room. He tells the lawyer if my brothers come knock and I'll go into the other room. Eloisa tells Mateo that Luciano knows what happened 18 years ago and is going to sell everything and leave me alone. Mateo “how did he find out? Eloisa: Aitana told him. She's the girl you all abused that night. And that night she became pregnant. Her child is Belinda. And you are the father. Mateo looks somewhat stunned and bewildered.
Luciano calls Zac. Are you at the ranch? He wants him to come over. He knows he's going to take Belinda and Aitana to the city, but he has a new proposal regarding the money owed. At least listen. He'll wait for him.
Mateo says she died in the fire that I set. Eloisa says but she survived. M: How do you know? E: I don't know how. Luciano didn't tell me. But she is going to report us to the authorities. M: no, that's not going to happen, because they love Belinda. I always, always saw her as a stranger. E: in the future she can help you, give you a hand. (Her delusions are great). Mateo is going to go look for her. Eloisa cautions him, she went riding. When you are in a safe place let me know . Please. Mateo leaves the room, without the mask. He tells the lawyer to wait for him in the car. I'll be quick. He bursts open a door….
The door transforms to the hotel door that the police force open. Iñigo grabs the youngest girl (I'll call her Hannah) as a shield. He insists they are my daughter's as the plain clothes detective shouts for him to let her go and Erika tries to pull Hannah free. Smart girl stomps on Iñigo's foot and he loosens his hold on Hannah. Both girls cry for mom, who rushes in to them. Iñigo gets cuffed.
Mateo has entered Belinda's room, looks around, picks up a photo of her riding, sets it down and puts his mask on and leaves.
Belinda is saying goodbye to Carmelo, her horse. Gael will take care of you and when I find a new place to live I'll send for you. A stablehand leads the saddled Carmelo away as Mateo, whose white mask has transformed to blue in the time it took to walk to the stables, approaches her. Belinda asks, who are you? He takes off the mask and Belinda tells him to leave or she will call the police. He informs her he is her father as he grabs her around the neck. She bites him in the hand. Aitana shows up to protect her and grabs a pitchfork as Mateo demands to know why didn't you tell me she is my daughter.
Aitana doesn't get very far with her weapon as Mateo grabs it from her and throws her to the ground. He remarks do you remember this, it's been a while as she fights. Belinda tries to help by hitting him with a metal water bucket. Zac to the rescue. A couple of right hooks and Mateo is unmoving on the ground as Zac makes sure the women folk are ok. Oh dear, Mateo is up again with the pitchfork which he drives into Zac's buttocks. But it's come out through his chest so I guess I saw wrong. Aitana beats at Mateo as Belinda yells he's bleeding so much. I don't know what to do (call the police or dad would be a good start!). Mateo runs off and fortunately Luciano and the police have come running. Zac has fallen to the ground on his side holding his ribs where the tine has pierced through.
Back to Nuria and the girls. N: Are you ok. H or E: I was so scared, Mami. Dad is bad. Forgive us mami. Iñigo is ready his rights. Girls, is he going to jail. Yes, but not only for what he has done to you. He has committed many wrongs.
Belinda: Dad, Mateo went that way. They chase after him as Belinda calls an ambulance. Oh no, Zac is bleeding from his mouth now. Tell them to hurry.
The chase is on. The police split up and Mateo hides behind a column and manages to knock one of the Police down and steal his gun. He shoots him several times which alerts the rest of the posse.
Zac tells Aitana he loves her as Aitana tells him she adores him. Be strong please. Gael arrives. What happened? You'll be ok. Zac tells Gael to take care of his parents, Belinda and Aitana. He appears to die.
The lawyer is twiddling his thumbs in his car when he spits the police jumping hedges, etc. he's out of there. Mateo shoots at them.
Clem and Juventino arrive at the stable and cry over Zac also asking what happened.
New nurse enters Eloisa's room. Eloisa has heard gunshots. What's going on? Nurse says I'll go find out. Please don't let anything have happened to Mateo, she cries.
I guess Zac lives as the ambulance is taking him away and not just covering him up with a sheet. Aitana rides with him in the ambulance and the others will follow by car.
Nurse returns to Eloisa. Señora, it's a mess out there. A man wounded Zac. Eloisa wants to be wheeled outside. Mateo is up on the roof of the hacienda, which is a huge widow's walk, running from the police who are firing at him. Eloisa pleads Mateo, wait for me. Don't kill him. Luciano tries to diffuse the situation as Mateo yells it's all Mom's fault. Eloisa has stood up and is on the level below the roof holding the railing as she hears Mateo. Mateo shoots at Luciano, who ducks, and the police shoot Mateo in the chest and he falls off the roof right in front of Eloisa. She yells, Mateo, as she climbs the railing and jumps after him to Luciano's horror. The two live long enough to grasp hands. Eloisa dies as Mateo grabs the gun which conveniently was is reach and shoots himself in the head
Juanjo and Nuria talk together outside somewhere. He's glad she charged Iñigo. It had to be done. It's strange Luciano hasn't contacted me after I told him they caught Iñigo. The girls are sitting at a table. They want to go home. Juanjo suggests he drives them back and he'll send a chauffeur for the car. Nuria tells the girl, we will start a new chapter. They agree, they love her.
Mateo and Eloisa are covered in sheets. Luciano muses to himself about their death. He hopes God will forgive mom, because he can't. The inspector is at the hacienda. I'm sorry for your loss but we need your statement. Also, we found the body of Gabriela, near the same location Ximena was discovered. Luciano says, I guess you figure Mateo killed her. (Dumb question).
Iñigo is asked, did you work alone or did you have an accomplice. I: I'm not saying anything without a lawyer. Detective says don't worry, one will be assigned. Iñigo blows up, I'm not staying here, transfer me to Matlan near my family. The detective says, not so fast, you kidnapped 2 children and abused their mother. Iñigo says how can you believe that. He yells and screams and the detective just smiles.
Aitana needs some air at the hospital. Luciano finds her and asks how Zac is. She says no word yet, his is in the OR. She asks about Mateo and Luciano informs her that he and Mama died.
Belinda cries about Mateo and what he told her. Gael asks what's going on. Why are you crying. He told me he's my dad and I don't understand. Aitana told me it was a one night stand. I don't want him as a father. Gael hugs her.
Clem and Juventino pray for Zac.
Gael advises Belinda to not think about it and talk to Aitana later.
The doctor comes out with bad news. Lots of internal damage to his organs. He only has a short time to live. The family goes in to see him. Clem tells him he'll be fine. Zac says I feel weak. Juventino says that's logical. Gael tells him you need to get well to plan your wedding. Zac asks about Mateo.
Aitana says to herself Zac is going to die for love of me. He gave his life to save me.
Zac tells his folks they were the best examples, and gave him an incredible brother. I love you so much. They leave and tell Aitana he wants to see you. (I guess Karime has been abandoned by the script writers).
Zac tells Aitana not to cry.
Zacs folks are crying. Luciano apologizes for his brother’s actions. I don't know what he was doing at the stables. Belinda tells Luciano, he was looking for me.
Zac wants Aitana to rebuild her life. Don't say this now she begs. Zac tells her Luciano is a good man. He will care for you like I would. I love you with all my soul. And he passes away…..she cries, please, no. ( well shoot, I did not see that coming in this episode).
Kat, you captured the myriad of emotions of this unfathomable and tragic episode with crystal clear clarity. An exceptional outing. I'm so appreciative for your dialogue translations, especially Eloisa's stomach-churning line to Mateo "...in the future she can help you, give you a hand. (Her delusions are great)" which was exactly right.
I've been watching novelas for almost two decades and can't recall ever being more surprised (and dismayed) at a death. Like you, I was shocked, completely caught off guard. I expected Zac to bow out gracefully, never imagining him dying saving Aitana and Belinda. The writers did a masterful job with this episode and the acting was superb, (especially Ferdinando Valencia in the police interrogation scene). This was by far the best episode of the series.
Mateo's reign of terror is finally over. What a shame that Belinda had to learn the truth. When Mateo shot that policeman, he smiled, his face reflected glee. What a sick, twisted soul. Eloisa jumping to her death to be with her Mateo was fitting. Adios, you will not be missed.
Poor Clem and Juventino! Such a blow to the heart, a sorrow that will never be healed.
With all he's had to learn and absorb, Luciano's good heart and character has been sorely tested but has proven to be a very good galan.
Uttering his wish for Aitana to go on with her life, Zac died a hero.
Can't wait for the finale and the remaining loose ends to be tied up. I suspect there will indeed be a wedding!
Diana
Excellent job describing the action and drama in this surprising episode! Thanks a lot, Kat. You covered it all so well.
Hope they didn’t do away with Zac just to smooth the way for Aitana and Luciano. Could have been nicely accomplished with Karime. Less dramatic though! In the dying scenes Zac told Aitana he had feared losing her. When he learned Mateo was dead Zac said: now he can’t do any more damage, that gives me peace. To Aitana: I lived my life loving you, you’ll be with your daughter and no one can hurt you anymore. Aitana: thanks to you.
Poor Belinda! She doesn’t yet know the fates of Mateo and Eloisa. Luciano told Aitana he doesn’t know how to tell her.
Belinda has experienced so much trauma in her young life. Kidnapping, attempted kidnapping, not to mention confused parentage and growing up amid family dysfunction and conflict. Now to witness this gory scene at same time she learns her bio dad is a psychopath and serial killer must be overwhelming. And he just murdered her boyfriend’s brother.
Iñigo in custody was amusing.
Thanks again for the great recap Kat. One more to go.
Clara
Thanks Diana and Clara. The death bed scene was tear jerking. Thanks for completing what Zac told Aitana, Clara. By the end of the show I just want to be done so I don't double check what's been said and sometimes I write my own dialogue to fit the scene, lol. That's what makes the caray community so fun. Others step up and flush in the pieces I miss. Karime was definitely the happier outcome for Zac, but his death and blessing of Luciano as her future partner definitely led to the predictable outcome of their likely wedding tonight.
Some loose ends won't be addressed I'm sure. The mystery bad guy behind the sex traffic case. I doubt Bruno will return in tonight's episode as that wasn't resolved. I still wonder if a spin off series with him and Caty could be in the works with their new identities being discovered.
I've determined in this show the first part goes to the first commercial break and then the credits, so part 2 generally starts at the 20 minute point and 3 at the 40 minute point. I've started using docs on my phone to type them then transfer it to this page. It was so frustrating only seeing 4 lines when typing a comment . In docs there is a word count (character count?) feature. I need to determine what is the max length comment as sometimes I have to really parse what I've written when it gets declined for being too long. As a result I don't get to make the asides I like to add in the recap. It probably would be easier to do it in 4 parts rather than 3, but that commercial break is such an obvious stopping point, it lends itself to the 3 part format.
Thanks, Kat. The recap was great! "I guess Karime has been abandoned by the script writers." Maybe she will show up at the funeral. : )
What an episode! Finally, Mateo and Eloísa dead and gone.
You said it, Diana: "The writers did a masterful job with this episode and the acting was superb, (especially Ferdinando Valencia in the police interrogation scene)." What a great scene as the smirking police officer taunted Iñigo and he had to realize that there was no escape. Caught like rat in a trap!
In my opinion, Zac had to die if there was going to be a HEA for Aitana and Luciano. His continued existence would be a constant threat to Aitana and Luciano's due to his depth of feeling for Aitana. As long as she was alive, that was never going to change. He was never moving on.
So, before the HEA (wedding??),
There has to be a funeral for Zac.
Aitana has to tell Belinda the truth
Iñigo needs to be tried, sentenced and probably beat up in jail being the criminal twerp he is.
Larisa need to get her hands on the money and poof! disappear. ; )
What else?
We now know Karime was a red herring. The writers teased us a bit but in retrospect, their relationship didn't go anywhere which should have been a red flag (I was oblivious).
Jarifa, "As long as she was alive, that was never going to change. He was never moving on" was exactly right! His passing is no less terrible but perhaps was inevitable all along.
Again, the acting was just superb. Zac's parents, brother and of course Aitana were all too real immersed in their grief. But the moment belonged to Andres' who did masterful justice to his death scene.
I can't think of one actor who didn't play their part perfectly.
Kat, thank you for all of your hard work on this.
Diana
Oh..my...goodness. Kat, thanks so much for doing a great job of recapping this sea of tears . I must say that this show has really beaten.me up. So much gloom and doom that just increased with every episode.
I tuned in late , and the first thing I saw was Mateo on top of Aitana. Zac to the rescue..yay. As soon as Zac turned his back on Matteo, you knew that Matteo was going to attack him , but the pitchfork ...yikes . Growing up on a farm, Matteo piercing Zak with that pitchfork really upset me .
Wonderful acting but so much tragedy. I hope that the finale gives us some hope and happiness . Please, writers . Susan
This episode was so sad. It tied up loose ends so it was necessary. The actors were great. Hoping next and last (I think) will bring happiness to Aitana and her daughter, who will be getting therapy, I hope.
I watched this from afar. Kat, your recaps were great.
Babachita
Thanks Babachita. We are watching the 2 dizis together but I don't comment much on them as you are doing such a great job with them.
I started recapping this after something ended which I've already forgotten what it was. It is very time consuming for me as I'm no typist, use my phone because it's actually easier than a full size keyboard for me, especially with all the predictive text suggestions. I'm glad the gran finale is tonight.
Thanks so much Kat, a great episode and an outstanding recap. So much death. I did hate that Zac died. It seemed that Aitana was more serious about him in the last couple of weeks. His death was so sad, and unexpected for me.
Mateo killing himself made me think he took the easy way out. Eloisa jumping after him was really unexpected. I wonder how many police he killed before they shot him. He was a real sicko, telling poor Belinda he was her dad. I guess he did it just to hurt her. I wonder how Aitana will explain it.
Inigo’s arrest was satisfying. He insisting he needs to go home, where his lawyer and family are. He’s in for a shock. I hope the police get the guy that drove him home. He shares responsibility in those deaths.
I guess some things won’t get wrapped up. But I wonder if Bruno will read about all this in the paper. Will we have a trial, a funeral and a wedding tonight.
Thank you, Kat. Superb recap.
Zac saved Aitana and Belinda which is probably how he wanted to go. I feel like his family is loyal to Luciano despite the inheritance and everything else. I don’t see them going their own way whether Zac was dead or alive. But with him alive it would have been hard to be near Aitana as she is likely to become the new señora Lizárraga.
Eloísa didn’t hesitate in following Mateo to their deaths. Maybe it would be better for Luciano to sell everything and start anew with Belinda and Aitana. Mateo did one last dirty deed, revealing to Belinda that he was her father. So Aitana will have further explaining to do.
Iñigo’s interrogation scene was very well acted. I wonder if he will find out about Mom and Mateo.
There are still some loose ends regarding the criminal organization and Bruno/Caty. So we’ll see how it all wraps up.
