Kara Para Ask – Black Money Love – Amor de Contrabando – Amor y Dinero Negro
Episode 142 #1 of 8
A car drives up to a rural road, and Fatih gets out dragging Nilufer with him. He tells Neco that the station will await him and that he will call him. He tells Nilufer they can talk calmly now, while having her in a head lock, hardly conducive to good conversation, IMHO. She tells him to let her go. He drags her along a path. She tells him she can’t converse in this situation, and he holds her close, asking her if she knows how much he has missed her. She pushes him away and says, enough!
Fatih: Nilufer, I know you’re angry, but we promised that I would release Elif…
Nilufer: Then do it now. Free Elif now. Why don’t you do it then? Do you even know what she’s going through right now? I know because I can’t see her anymore. Do you know how many days have passes since I last saw Elif?
Fatih mumbles, and she tells him those are just empty words. Nilufer says if he frees her sister and then she will believe him. Fatih tells her he needs more time. She asks what for. Fatih tells her he is busy building a new life for them, for him, his mother, and Nilufer.
Nilufer: I just wanted to live peacefully with you, but I don’t think that will happen because you would already have rescued my sister, and then I could believe in the love you say you feel for me.
Fatih thinks for a bit: And if I don’t free Elif, what will you do?
Nilufer: I will leave and divorce you.
Nilufer starts to walk back toward the highway, but Fatih grabs her arm.
Fatih: Nothing can separate us. You will be mine until death.
Nilufer: Fatih, you’re hurting me.
She yells and frees her arm only to be caught as she runs away.
Fatih: I told you not to escape.
Nilufer: Let me go, Metin!
This sets him off. He tells her he is not Metin but Fatih. And that he’s there for her.
Nilufer: I don’t want a man who looks at me that way. Let me go!
Fatih: Trust me, trust in my intelligence. We will live in peace once all this is over, and Omer and Elif will also live in peace,
Nilufer: You killed him, you killed the brother of Omer.
Fatih: Darling, don’t believe those things you’re saying. You need to trust in me. He reaches down to embrace her and she tells him, “No.” He doesn’t stop although she tells him over and over to stop. She finally hits him.
Nilufer: Trust yourself but this has to end. I’m going to divorce if you don’t tell the truth to Omar or Elif.
Fatih pulls a wad of paper out of his pocket. It’s the divorce, and he tears it up and throws the pieces at her.
Fatih: Listen to me well, you and I joined our lives and that will not be erased until death. How can you leave me? You will never leave me!
Nilufer: You have no idea what I am capable of doing.
Fatih grabs her jaw roughly, and she kicks him where it hurts. She runs off, leaving him doubled over in pain.
When she gets to the road, she isn’t sure which way to go, but she starts running. A car drives up and she motions for it to stop. The driver starts up again just as Fatih emerges from the woods.
Fatih is very impactado.

Episode 142 #2 of 8
Omer, Pelin, and Arda are entering a dwelling that looks abandoned. Arda says they must be ahead of them. Omer asks Pelin if she is sure it’s the boss’s (Osman) house. She tells him she is sure. We were with him at the scene of the crime two days ago.
Pelin: When did he realize and escaped? I don’t know.
A man comes in and greets them. He asks if they are looking for a house. Did the real estate agent send them?
Arda says yes and that they have the key. Arda asks him if he works there. He tells them yes and that it’s a nice apartment.
Caretaker: The captain and his wife were very calm. Don’t look at the mess. I’ll clean it up. They left yesterday morning. It was very sudden. But that’s how it is with police.
Arda and Omer nod their understanding. Omer: Thank you very much. My friends didn’t like the place, so we’ll go elsewhere.
The caretaker wishes them a good day. Arda tells him they will leave the key with the real estate agent. The three walk toward their car. Pelin exclaims that they left yesterday morning, so they are way behind.
Omer: I didn’t suspect him. He must have received a lot of money from Tayyar.
Arda: That’s his strategy. Trying to deceive everyone. He’s just buying time to cover his tracks.
Omer: We have to find that guy. I don’t care how long it takes; we’ll find him. OK. Let’s go.
At the prison, Elif is sitting in the warden’s office. Her “doctor” enters. She greets him. He does likewise.
Doctor: We saw each other this morning. I hope it’s nothing bad.
Elif: I took the medication. I want to trust in you, but so many things have happened to me that I don’t take anything for granted. Now I need to know what happened.
Doctor: That’s the best thing to do. You can do it right now. You made a good decision.
Elif: You said that all your patients remembered. Please do for me what you did for them. I have to know what happened that night. For everyone’s sake.
Doctor: I’ll do my best. Just keep trusting in me. [Noooo!]
At the pink house, the team (Tolga, Arda, Pelin, Ipek and Omer) is working. Pelin brings up some tea.
Tolga: Look, the head of the forensic experts specializes in finding evidence. He knows better than anyone how to confuse evidence when necessary, and he also vanishes into thin air.
Omer: Don’t worry, if necessary I’ll fly and bring him back with me somehow. Look at this.
He hands Arda a paper.
Ipek: Incredible. He went to the same school as Ali and they played on the same futbol team.
Arda: I hope he doesn’t end up like Ali. He also disappeared.
Pelin: His wife’s family is from Antalya. His mother, father, and brother still live there.
Omer: Buddy, we have to find someone who can help us.
Lots of thinking as the group tries to come up with a solution.
Back at the prison, Elif is trying to sleep on her lower bunk, in a fetal position. She is having a flashback to earlier that day.
Flashback: Doctor: Ms. Elif, If I could see what you’ve been through, without any filter, I would find the truth. You will, too. Now close your eyes. Focus on your emotions toward Husseyn Demir.
Flashback (within the flashback): Elif yells at Husseyn: Murderer! You don’t deserve to live. Elif searches on the desk and finds scissors. Murderer! Murderer!

Episode 142 #3 of 8
Back in the present, Elif is still unable to sleep. She suddenly turns on her back and remembers something:
FLASHBACK:
Omer: Murder, mercy, and violence are side by side, also forgiveness and hatred. Your rage drives you to violence or to forgiveness.
Elif: I think about killing Husseyn, although we don’t want that to happen. But wouldn’t it be a fair outcome for everyone?
FLASHBACK: Elif with Omer: Maybe that Elif doesn’t exist anymore. Maybe she disappeared in the midst of the pain. To remain the same is very difficult.
Elif keeps turning in her bed and is now sitting up and bending forward, head in her hands.
In the warden’s room, the doctor is speaking: The truth isn’t so far away, don’t you think?
Elif nods at him.
Doctor: Have you thought about what we talked about? What will you do? Come on, tell me.
[His eyes are very scary and intense!]
Elif: I’m prepared to face myself.
At the mansion, Nedret and Filiz are packing up, Nilufer is looking out the window while on the phone, and Asli enters at her usual double speed.
Asli: Auntie, I want to bring you this book too.
Nedret thanks her and shows her an album they made for her nieces. Nedret tells Asli to look at it every time you miss us.
Asli: Thank you, Auntie.
Nedret asks Filiz if she has Zerrin’s handkerchief. Feliz assures her she does.
Nilufer is talking to her doctor on the phone who tells her: I understand. You can come in today, if you want. If you don’t have an abortion, you can take some medication.
Nilufer: Thank you, I know.
Doctor: You know there’s a legal time limit for abortions, if you want one.
Nilufer, turning away from Asli’s questioning look: Thank you for reminding me. I really know. Anyway, no, I won’t cancel my appointment.
Omer is putting something in some nice bags when the doorbell rings. It’s Elvan.
Omer smiles: What a surprise! Come in. Tell me what brings you here, Mom.
Elvan: Today is visiting day, so I made cookies for my dear Elif. She loves them. I made lots so she can share them with her friends. Give her my regards, please.
Omer: Thank you, Mom. She’s going to love them. Hey, but don’t just stand there, come in.
Elvan: No, better not, son. You’ll be leaving soon anyway. I’ve seen you, that’s enough. How are you feeling son? Of course you’re devastated. Your wings are broken; you’re struggling. I’m worried about you, son. I don’t know how long you can keep this up.
Omer: It’ll be until they release Elif. I hope.
Elvan: I hope so, son. Don’t forget this: I’ll always be by your side, even if Elif has done…
Omer interrupts: Listen, Mom, Elif didn’t do anything wrong. Don’t even think about it. You have to stay calm, Mom. This is a dirty game, I know it hurts. You lost your son, and I lost my brother, but I know she didn’t do it.
Elvan reaches out and touches his head, and they embrace. He looks happy because of this visit; she still looks worried.

Episode 142 # 4 of 8
At the mobile hospital, Husseyn is sitting slumped in his bed.
Neco is reporting to him: Omer hasn’t left the house the rented. He’s trying to clear his girlfriend’s name. His friends are always with him.
Husseyn: Of course they’re going to be there. The truth is that the poor guy must be devastated. The same must be happening to Elif. How are my children?
Neco: They are fine. Your daughter hasn’t dropped out of school.
Husseyn: Tayyar’s son is harassing her?
Neco: Not yet, not that I know of. Hasan is in school. Ms. Melike enrolled Burhan in a kindergarten.
Husseyn: Do they get along? Does she mistreat him?
Neco: No, not at all. She takes him by the hand to school every day. He’s always smiling.
Husseyn: She’s pretending. I know what kind of person she is. I know she has a reason for keeping him there. But I’ll be taking my son. I won’t let them hurt him. I’ll take him.
We see Tayyar speaking on the phone in a warehouse.
Fatih walks up: You missed your son, a lot, dear Dad.
Tayyar: Your lawyer called me yesterday. You haven’t come to sign the divorce papers.
Fatih: You talk about my marriage. Don’t interfere!
Tayyar: Weren’t you getting a divorce? Huh?
Fatih: My story with Nilufer isn’t over yet.
Tayyar: It’s over! It’s over! You promised me you’d get a divorce. You’re going to sign that paper right now!
At the prison, it’s visiting day. Omer, Asli and Nilufer are anxiously waiting Elif. Nedret is there, too.
Nedret: What’s all this about? We’ve been here a long time. What are you trying to do?
She glares at Omer.
Nedret: Am I lying? All I want is to see is my niece.
The guard opens a barrier, and our visitors walk in that direction. Omer tells them to go and tells them he’ll see her later.
Asli: Don’t be ridiculous, Colombo! You’re part of this family, so we’ll go in together. Move it, come on.
Nilufer takes Omer by the arm, telling him they are wasting time.
In the group cell, others are talking about their visitors and what they sent. Elif is sitting, just as she did the night of Husseyn’s fake murder, like a zombie. Then Boss Crooked Inmate (BCI) sits on her bed with her. She reaches over and says to Elif: Look, princess, today you’re going to be cleaning again. Elif walks out in a trance.
In the visiting room, other inmates come and join their families. Nedret is getting restless: I’m going crazy, now I know I’m going crazy! How can anyone live in such a horrible place!
Omer is looking around. Asli asks where she might be. He tells her they may be releasing them one at a time.
We see Follower Crooked Inmate (FCI) come into the visitation room.
Finally, we see Elif enter the room. She hardly seems to recognize them until Nilufer calls her “Sister.” They hug and Nilufer tells her she misses her so much.
Elif says she misses them. Asli joins the hug.
Nedret tells them that’s enough. She wants a hug, too,
Omer stands a little way off to let them greet one another. Elif sees him and smiles at him.
Nedret: How are you?
Elif: Fine.
She goes up to Omer.

Omer: Signorina! These last three days have been eternal.
Nedret, dripping with venom: Have you done anything to free Elif in the last three days, or haven’t you done anything?
Omer pulls Elif into a chair with her sisters.
Omer: We found a clue.
Nedret: I hope so. That’s what you hope for.
Omer: That’s what I said.
Asli asks how Elif is. Please don’t tell me that they are bothering you. Because if so, tell them you have a really crazy sister who will eat them alive if they do anything.
Elif: No, it’s not necessary. I haven’t had any problems. Besides, I keep busy reading. Omer brought me a lot of books, so time flies.
Nedret: You’ve lost weight. Are you eating well?
Elif: Yes, I manage. Don’t worry, I’m fine. The only thing is that I can’t see you all.
Asli: We cooked something for you. Last night we also brought you a book and made a photo album, and we bought you pajamas. Nilufer and I have the same ones, so the three of us will wear them, and it will be like you’re sleeping at home.
Nilufer: We bought you a lot of gifts, but they wouldn’t let us bring them in. They’ll give them to you directly.
Elif: Do you think they will? Will they give them to me? Don’t worry, thank you for being my family.
Omer: Elif, the lawyer filed a petition. Your psychiatrist could change at any time.
Elif, hand raised: No, it’s not necessary. Now everything is fine. Don’t change it.
Omer: Well, it’s fine, whatever you want.
The guards announce that time’s up in five minutes.
Asli: We have to leave?
Nilufer: We just got here.
Elif: There will be more visiting days. You’ll have to get used to it. I already have.
Nedret: What does that mean?
Elif: The most important thing in this world is to accept reality. I learned that here.
Omer: Elif, what are you talking about? Accept that you’ll be out of here!
Elif: Don’t worry about me.
She gets up and leaves them.
Nedret: You saw that? You saw her? Didn’t you have anything to do? Get up, get up! I can’t stand it anymore. Get up! Let’s get out of here.
[I can’t tell what’s up with Nedret. She seems genuinely shocked, yet isn’t this part of her plan? I suppose it might be guilt at seeing Elif’s awful environment.]
Nilufer: I have something important to do. Then we’ll see each other.
Omer: She didn’t look like herself at all.
Asli: Her eyes looked very different.
Omer: She was very strange. There was something in her gaze. It was like she wasn’t looking at me. She wasn’t looking at anyone.
Omer is impactado.
They walk out of the prison, and Omer gets a call: Hey buddy, tell me.
Arda: I have good news, Omer. Do you know our friend, Femi? He found the head of the forensic experts (Osman) in Antalya. He’s staying in Adrasan with a different name. But he recognized him.
Omer: He caught him. Great. I’m leaving now.
At the clinic, Nilufer is waiting for her appointment. She looks at her stomach thoughtfully. All of a sudden, Asli appears.
Asli: How could you hide something like this from me?
Omer, Arda, and Pelin are waiting beside a highway.
Arda: They’ve been traveling for several hours. Femi has a phobia of flying. He wasn’t going to let them put them in a plane.
Omer: Does anyone know about us?
Arda: No, nobody, only Tolga and Ipek. Nobody else.

Omer sees a car approach and asks if it’s Femi’s. Arda says yes. The car pulls to a stop. The driver gets out: Here is your order, so you can see that our service is good.
He opens the passenger door, and we see the crooked policeman.
Omer praises Femi. Pelin tells him job well done, that he brought them a great gift.
Omer: Until you fell into my clutches. What will you do now?
Osman: You can’t prove anything. You’re wasting your time.
Omer: Yes, we’ll see. Look at me!
At the clinic, Asli is restraining Nilufer. They are making a scene that is noticed by the clinic staff.
Asli: You’re going to have an abortion! Do you understand? You’re not going to have the psychopath’s baby. You can’t have the baby of the man who destroyed our lives.
Nilufer: Stop it, go away.
Asli: I won’t leave you because it will ruin your life if I don’t do something. I’m your sister.
Nilufer: You’re acting like my mother. Do you realize that? Can you tell me what the difference is between your interests and hers? Do you want me to go through the same thing you went through?
Asli: Don’t say that. It’s not the same.
Nilufer: It’s the same. This is my baby. Do you think I’m so stupid that I don’t understand what you’re telling me? I’m aware of everything, but my baby wants to be born. My head tells me to have an abortion, but I’m confused. Can’t you see it? And you keep talking, always trying to drag me down with you. I’m just asking you to be with and try to understand me. I need you to be on my side for once. I need you to hold my hand and support me in what I’m doing. I’ll lose my mind.
Asli is very impactada.
The sisters stand together. Asli reaches out and embraces Nilufer.
Omer and Co. have Osman, AKA Crooked Forensic Boss, sitting in a chair in a basement. He is cuffed to a metal scaffold.
Omer: He looked for you, right? He told you he was planning a murder, that he wanted to frame Elif Denizer, and you accepted the offer. Of course, you must have been working for him for a long time. Long enough for him to have made you that offer. Why don’t you speak? How many lives did you ruin along with Husseyn Demir and Ali?
Omer stands him up: How much money did he give you to send Elif to jail?
Osman: Be careful what you do. You’re making a mistake.
Omer: Really?
Osman: You’re interrogating me illegally, and you know it. But even if I knew something, I wouldn’t tell you anything.
Omer: You’ll say what you know in jail anyway. You’ll go to trial early tomorrow. You’ll say everything you know.
Osman makes an unhappy face.
In Tayyar’s home, he is pacing around his office, addressing a someone who turns out to be Elif’s psychiatrist.
Tayyar: You army of losers! You aren’t good for anything. Nothing. They stare with their mouths open when I shoot them in the head.
Doctor: Everything was going very well, sir. She almost believed she had committed the murder. Why did they move up the trial?
Tayyar: Leave that to me. We’ll find out who did it. We’re going to investigate them one by one. Stop making excuses and do your job. Let’s not lose sight of our goal. Go!
Doctor: Yes sir.
Tayyar is thinking hard.

Back at the interrogation, Omer is pacing back and forth.
Osman: You don’t have evidence against me. The prosecutor is just going to laugh. You have a good record, but no one is going to believe you. You can’t take me to court.
Omer: Stop acting brave, idiot! Sooner or later you’ll have to comply.
Pelin leaves the room.
Osman: You didn’t get what you wanted, and you never will.
Omer has a smile on his face. Then we hear a female voice: Osman!
Osman stands up.
Arda: Boss, you have a visitor.
Girl: I couldn’t escape.
Osman: You caught me, you dam bastard. How could you find her?
FLASHBACK: The group of five are conferring in their office at the station.
Ipek: It sounds like a plan, but let’s say we bring in Boss Osman because he was going to confess. He’ll realize immediately that we don’t have any evidence here.
Omer: We all know very well how to manipulate. These people use their loved ones and their weaknesses. We can make the boss confess, if we discover where his family is. We’ll convince him, Tolga. That’s what we’ll do. Pelin, you know the girl. She should know quite a few things about those who work here. Ask her some questions.
Pelin agrees and leaves.
Omer: OK, colleagues, we will work all night. We’ll compare the documents with the information we have.
Arda: Omer, I’ll check Tayyar’s organization’s lists. I mean, a relative or friend of Chief Osman might have fallen into his clutches.
Omer: OK. There’s little time. Let’s forget about sleeping.
Arda: Come on, Omer, who needs to sleep, better we work!
Pelin returns a few hours later. She notices they must have found his niece.
Omer: Something like that. The girl who received a scholarship from Tayyar’s Organization, is the girl who was presented by Chief Osman as his niece.
Pelin: A fake niece.
Omer: Exactly.
End of flashback. Omer grabs Osman: Now listen to me. Decide carefully. If I want, I can get your girl in trouble. Understand? The woman you love has enough of a record.
Girl: Osman, what are they going to do to me? Send me to jail? I beg you, help me.
Osman looks at her with a pained expression.
Osman: Listen, she doesn’t know anything. Let her go.
Omer: I care about what you know, not what she knows.
Osman: You can’t do this to me, Omer.
Omer: Of course I can. I’m going to do whatever I want. The woman I love against the woman you love. She’s going to be punished the same way that Elif was. You decide.
Time passes. We see Elif brought out of the jail. She asks her lawyer: What did you find?
The lawyer is talking: I imagine Omer found an important witness despite the change in the evidence. Actually, a criminal who’s at the bottom of this. It’s a very important development. You see, you didn’t have hope, but you’re not a murderer.
Elif: First we have to see what happens, then we draw conclusions.
Elif is put on a prison bus to go to the trial.
Back in the interrogation room.
Arda: You are on the way to court, Osman. You have to look very handsome.
Osman: Where is she?
Omer: Don’t worry, she’s in a safe place.
Arda puts a jacket on Osman.
Omer: You’re going to tell the judge everything you told us.
Osman: I’ll do it if they leave her alone. After this, I’ll tell everything as it happened.
Omer has a smile on his face: I complied with the promise I made Elif. I’ll walk back home with her. Let’s go!

Nilufer starts walking when Fatih drives up. She runs from him, but he quickly catches up to her.
Fatih: You can’t run away from me, princess. We need to talk.
Nilufer: I have nothing to say to you, let me go!
Fatih: Is that what you want? So, what they told me isn’t true, you’re pregnant?
In the courtroom, Elif and her lawyer are seated. In walk Nedret, Asli, and Filiz.
Elif asks her lawyer how long before it starts. He replies that the prosecutor and the judge have to get there first. The lawyer hopes Omer hurries up.
Pelin is upset with the traffic. Omer is driving and hopes they will make it.
Nilufer and Fatih are arguing.
Nilufer: Leave me alone!
Fatih: Did you abort or not?
Nilufer: It’s not your child!
Fatih: What are you saying?
Nilufer: You lost the rights to this baby when you sent Elif to prison, when you turned her into an assassin. This baby shouldn’t worry you at all.
Fatih: You made an appointment for an operation. So, you aborted it, right? Don’t play with me, Nilufer.
Nilufer: You stop playing with me. Today is my sister’s trial; we’ll see who the murderer is. So, tell me if I had an abortion, I didn’t. I think it’s a pretty fair deal,
Fatih: Listen, Elif isn’t a murderer. He needs a body to blame her, right? Husseyn Demir isn’t that body.
She looks at him for a long time.
Omer is still driving fast, trying to arrive on time.
In the courtroom, the judge arrives and tells everyone to be seated.
Elif, seated with her lawyer, looks like she might faint. Her eyes keep closing.
Judge: The defense has stated that there is new evidence and a new witness. We assessed the situation and asked for an earlier date. Is there anything else you would like to add, defense?
Elif’s attorney stands: Your Honor, the witness mentioned will prove the innocence of my client.
Judge: Then we will begin with the statement. Call the witness.
The bailiff goes out and calls for Omer Demir.
Everyone is worried when he doesn’t come in. Elif looks drugged. The judge looks annoyed.

Thanks for the recap, Babachita.
Still too many episodes left for Tayyar to go down.
Unpopular opinion: No matter how many times I watch this dizi, I don’t think I’ll ever fully buy Nilu and Fatih as a couple. Nilu is very annoying to me. I think Fatih is a remarkably interesting villain, and the actor is great in the role. But I don’t feel chemistry like I do with Elmer or the sweetness of Pelin and Arda.
Yes, I remember the futbol scene in Yargi. Pars was a great character. The Yargı cast was fantastic. Someday, hopefully, I’ll have the time to watch Turkish season #3.
#143 part 1
At Elif’s hearing, Omer is called as a witness with new evidence. But where is Omer? The judge is impatient. The Denizers worry. Elif looks out of it.
Omer and friends arrive at the courthouse with Osman. They cross paths with a shifty looking uniformed cop. The “cop” draws his gun, shoots Osman and runs. Omer shoots the cop. Osman is still alive, but it doesn’t look good. Call an ambulance!
The bailiff is still calling for Omer. The judge looks at his watch. Elif can barely sit up. She takes one of those poison pills. The lawyer tells her something must have happened for Omer not to show. Maybe he couldn’t get his witness to testify. Elif adds, or maybe he realized it’s not worth it.
The judge says they can’t wait any longer. Counselor, your witness didn’t show. The lawyer addresses the court, Your Honor, we spoke with him this morning. Omer Bey said he was bringing someone from the crime scene investigation team. There might have been a problem. I thought of asking for more time. Elif looks over at her evil shrink. He smiles and nods at her. Elif interrupts her lawyer. Your Honor, I’d like to say something. It’s about that night. The evil shrink grins.
Pelin says the ambulance is on its way. Arda stuffs the bad cop into the car. A small crowd gathers around Omer and Osman. Omer shouts for everyone to stand back. Omer begs Osman to hang on. Tell me what you were going to tell the judge. Who is the killer? Osman struggles to speak. Omer tells Osman he can save an innocent person. This is your chance to do something good. Tell me. Unfortunately, Osman uses his last breath to ask for an ambulance.
Elif stands up. Her lawyer advises her to think about this, there will be no turning back. She looks at the evil shrink, and he gives her an evil grin of encouragement. Asli and Nedret are alarmed. What will Elif say?
The judge asks Elif if she’s going to speak, or will we postpone the trial? You’ve taken up enough time. Elif says she will speak. The judge reminds her of the statement she gave. You said you didn’t remember anything about that night. Do you want to change your statement? Elif answers yes.
The judge asks, do you remember anything new? The truth is no, Elif replies. The judge asks, if that is so, what do you want to tell us? Elif looks at the shrink and says to the judge, I might have done it. I think I killed Huseyin Demir.
Murmurs in the courtroom. Asli gasps, no, Elif. Nedret looks distraught. The judge asks for silence. He’s annoyed and asks, “I think”? Elif Hanim, what does that mean? Did you do it or not? Why do you want to take responsibility for a crime you can’t remember? Elif replies, well, I’ve been working with my doctor for a while to help me remember, but we haven’t been very successful. All I remember is I was very angry with Huseyin Demir.
The judge asks for an explanation. What makes you think you killed Huseyin Demir? I had already hurt him, Elif replies, Huseyin gave a false statement about the day I went to visit him. It wasn’t an accident. I was the one who stabbed him with scissors. The judge asks, and why did you do it? Because he said horrible things about my father, Elif answers, I was furious and lost control. Is it possible I lost control that night and killed him?
Elif’s family is devastated. Elif looks at the shrink again. She continues, after analyzing the situation with my doctor, that’s what I think. I could have been violent and that’s why my mind refuses to remember. It’s a defense mechanism. [why doesn’t the lawyer try to intervene here?]
#143 part 2
Nilufer pleads with Fatih. Come on, the hearing must have started. Let’s find Huseyin Demir and save Elif. Fatih tells her he can’t do that. Tayyar would kill him. He says, Nilu, I want to live like everyone else. She accuses him—you want my sister’s life to be ruined by what you want? She’s innocent! Fatih acknowledges that this is hard for Elif, but it could be worse. She’s still alive, she’s not a murderer. Huseyin is alive. But if I do what you ask, then I’ll be the one who dies.
Nilu has no words. Don’t look at me like that, Fatih says, if you want to do something, do it yourself, but you’ll be killing me if you do. Everything I did to fake Huso’s death could save your sister. If you tell Omer anything about Huseyin and the things I did, then I will truly die and you will be my killer.
Nilu is at 6s and 7s. How could you ruin my sister’s life? Fatih explains, Tayyar already set a trap for her. If I hadn’t been there, your sister would have been a killer. She was going to kill Huseyin. I saved your sister’s life. Nilu asks, so whose body was that? Fatih says he was a pedophile. Did he deserve to live? She’s horrified and asks, did you kill him? Tell me! Did you kill him? Look into my eyes and tell me…
That’s enough, Fatih answers, don’t continue this. Let’s talk about good things. Our baby is growing. He puts his hand on her belly. She moves away. I must be an idiot, Nilu says, I thought you could change. I believed it, I hoped for it. I don’t know how I could be so blind. No matter how hard you try, the evil inside won't let you come out into the light.
Osman’s body is taken away. Ipek is there now and is on the phone to the guys at the station. She tells Omer she will take the man (Osman’s killer) to the hospital. We won’t leave him alone. Omer says that’s good. They won’t be able to kill him. Omer wonders how they knew they were bringing Osman. Tolga thinks there was a traitor in Antalya. Omer barks that Tayyar seemingly has people everywhere. Omer heads inside the courthouse.
Tayyar is working on a jigsaw puzzle. He explains to Mumtaz how each piece must go in its place. It can take days or months. At some point, a jerk comes along and takes one of your pieces and loses it. and all your efforts go to waste. My stupid cousin lost a piece and my whole game was ruined. But I never gave up. I fixed my game, I have another piece and my game is in order. I can continue playing. Only a few pieces left. Mumtaz gets a call. Osman is dead. He didn’t make it to the courtroom.
Omer makes it in time to see Elif being taken out of the courtroom in handcuffs. Omer apologizes to her and says they just killed our witness outside. It doesn’t matter anymore, she says, it’s over. Elif is taken. Omer is stunned.
Asli is angry with Omer. Where were you? You had to save Elif! Omer explains what happened. He asks what happened to Elif? Why are they taking her? Asli says that Elif took the blame for the crime. She said she killed Huseyin. Omer can’t believe this. Why would she do this? Nedret shows up to get her dig in. Well done, Komiser. Thanks for saving my Elif. The lawyer asks Omer for help. He says, we are about to lose the case. They set the next hearing in 5 days.
Omer asks the lawyer, why did she take the blame? Did you know anything about this? She lost hope, the lawyer replies, and she’s under the influence of her [evil] psychologist. He told her that sometimes the mind erases traumatic events. I have to talk to her, Omer insists, I have to talk to her right now. He runs off.
#143 part 3
Asli asks Nedret what do we do now? Nedret turns to the lawyer. How does it look? What will her sentence be? The lawyer explains that the judge said she should be tried under Article 82. First degree murder. Life in prison. Asli starts yelling—this is ridiculous! It’s crazy! Nedret calms her down. Shouting won’t solve anything. We see Ipek peeking from around a corner and watching.
Nilufer walks away from Fatih. He wants her to stop and listen to him. He says he won’t leave unless she tells him she doesn’t love him. I don’t love you, she says. He asks her to look him in the eyes and tell him. Stop testing my love, she snaps back, you always do. I’m tired. He says he understands and she’s right to be angry. Once again, he tries to explain his reasons for doing what he did.
You call this saving her, Nilu asks, my sister is in prison even though she did nothing. You haven’t saved anyone. There’s Omer, his mother, his nephews, those children buried their father. It was simple, you just had to keep the promise you made to Omer. But you didn’t. You can’t fool yourself or me. You did this for money, for power. So you sacrificed me, Omer, all of us for this? We trusted you.
You don’t know what kind of childhood I had, Fatih replies, nightmares every night. The moment my mother’s tongue was cut out. Do you know what kind of childhood I had? Can you imagine? The empire Tayyar built rises on the tears I cried during my childhood. Do you see now? Tayyar will face the consequences, but I only have one wish left. The only thing I want in life. I want a peaceful life for my mother, for our child, and for you, but not yet. Please tell me if you had an abortion.
Nilu says, when you talk like that, it’s like you kill all the dreams we had together. You get used to those words and it will always be like that. He still wants her answer—did you have an abortion? I couldn’t do it, she answers, but I don’t consider you the father of my child. You’re going to have to try hard for me to believe you again. Nilu gets in a cab.
Asli calls Nilu. Where have you been? Aren’t you interested in what happened in court? Elif took the blame. Nilu is shocked and she says she has something to tell Asli. Asli doesn’t want to know unless it has something to do with Elif. Nilu looks back at Fatih. She replays his words about what would happen if she told the truth to Omer. Asli asks if Nilu is still on the line. Nilu says she needs to leave for a few days. Asli is absolutely against it. She demands that Nilu come home immediately. Nilu says she can’t. Asli gives in but wants Nilu to stay in touch and let her know where she goes.
Nedret wants to know why Nilu isn’t coming home. Asli says she doesn’t know, Nilu didn’t say. Can comes downstairs. Where is my aunt? He’s told she’s still in prison. Can thought she would be back. He’s disappointed.
Filiz asks Nedret if she wants tea or coffee. Nedret says she doesn't want anything and asks her not to let anyone into the room. Leave and close the door. Nedret calls Tayyar. What are you doing to Elif? She is very sick. Tayyar claims innocence. What is happening to her is her fault, he says, she’s always been a troubled girl. Nedret snaps back, are you kidding me? How did you bring Elif to this state? The girl is my niece. Stop, there is no need for this.
How is there no need, Tayyar answers, what are you talking about? That girl and her boyfriend were about to reveal the scheme we’ve been meticulously building for years. They would have ruined you, too. Think twice before talking to me like this. Guess who will be next if I go to jail? That would be you. We’re in this together.
#143 part 4
Nedret warns, do as I say, Tayyar. The judge has postponed the hearing for 5 days. He will give his verdict then. It means you have 5 days. If you don’t do anything, I will. I’ll hire someone to take the blame. You take care of the rest.
Asli tells Can that Omer will take care of everything. Filiz says she hopes so. Hulya nervously enters and tells Asli someone is at the door and she should come. It’s Ipek. Asli isn’t happy to see her. What do you want? Ipek asks if Nedret is there. Asli says yes. Ipek asks if there is somewhere they can talk with no one hearing. Asli has no patience—just say what you want and go. Ipek tells her she’s just doing her job. And I can help. Please, it won’t take long. It’s important.
Elif sits on her bunk and stares. Her hands are shaking. Hande is watching. Hande’s helper looks worried about Elif. Elif wants to take another pill. She can’t even open the water bottle. The helper helps Elif with the bottle. Elif goes to the bathroom.
The helper tells Hande that her boss is succeeding in destroying this poor girl. She’s nervous, she talks in her sleep. She’s like a ghost. Hande says Elif deserves it and they shouldn’t care. She asks the helper, what did you do about the other thing? Helper worries, if they catch me, they will increase my sentence. I’m afraid. So don’t let them catch you, Hande replies.
Asli and Ipek speak privately. Asli asks if Elif knows about this. Ipek says, of course she doesn’t know that her aunt is behind this. Asli can’t believe it. Ipek continues, Nedret arranged everything. Omer knows too. Why are you telling me this, Asli asks, to make my family look bad? You want me to think my aunt is capable of doing something like this?
Ipek says her purpose isn’t to hurt anyone. I hurt Elif very much. I want to make amends for my mistakes and help you, too. Your aunt is hiding a lot. For example, Filiz. Asli is losing patience. What’s the connection with Filiz now? Please leave before I go crazy! Ipek asks, what do you know about Filiz? Asli snaps, she works for my aunt. My aunt never had children and adopted her when she we were very young [yes, she made her a servant.] Now leave! She opens the door for Ipek.
Ipek drops the bomb—Filiz is Nedret’s biological daughter and she’s hiding this from you. Asli is stunned. She closes the door. She asks, why would she do this. Ipek doesn’t know. But there’s a story behind this that concerns you all. Asli doesn’t believe this. Ipek says she’s investigated it and can prove it. And this is only one of her secrets. You live with her. Has anything happened to make you doubt her?
Asli thinks back to overhearing Nedret’s suspicious phone conversation. But she tells Ipek that what she’s saying won’t make her forget what she did. She’s never going to forgive her. Listen carefully, she tells Ipek, I don’t believe anything you told me. Don’t expect me to turn against my aunt. Ipek answers, don’t, but find out what’s going on here.
Nedret enters. What’s going on? What are you doing in Nilufer’s apartment? Asli thinks fast. Ipek came to inform us about what happened in court and the death of the witness. She was just leaving. Nedret doesn’t understand why they came there to talk. She found just out from Hulya. If it’s about Elif, it concerns me, too, Nedret says. She keeps pressing for an answer from Asli. Asli says that Can was around and this topic is too sensitive for him. And you were sleeping so I didn’t want to bother you. Ipek says she’ll go now and she’ll keep in touch. Both Asli and Nedret are suspicious for different reasons.
#143 part 5
Omer makes a case with the prison warden to see Elif. She’s not well psychologically. The warden says he can’t grant special privileges. Omer says this isn’t about privilege. The warden begs to differ. He says giving her privileges would break the rules. Omer calls this a matter of life or death. He begs.
Elif washes her face. She looks in the mirror. Things get fuzzy. She looks woozy. She sees Huseyin in the mirror. What are you doing here, she asks. Huso says, my dear Elif. She turns around. Huso isn’t there. Elif is confused and scared. She washes her face again. She looks in the mirror and whispers, help me. She cries.
Elvan watches Hasan and Burhan play in the yard. Melike and Fatma return. They hope Elvan doesn’t ask too many questions. Of course, Elvan asks where they’ve been. Melike says, Fatma and I went for a walk and we lost track of time. Fatma chimes in, we visited Gulsen and she invited us in. We lost track of time. Melike says the kids must be hungry. She rushes off to start dinner and Fatma hurries after her to help.
In the house, Melike and Fatma lament the lack of success with job hunting. Fatma says they want younger people and all the daily workers are immigrants. Melike says she’ll look at secretarial job postings. Fatma snarks, yes, all the holding companies are lining up to hire you. Then what am I going to do, Melike asks. I don’t have any gold left to sell and mother will be upset if I tell her. I can’t call Omer, he’s having a hard time.
Fatma thinks Demet can help. She’s got a rich boyfriend. Maybe he could give some money or help you find a job. Melike thinks Demet and Mert broke up. Demet’s been crying for days. We can’t count on her. Melike sighs, well at least we have a roof over our heads. Tomorrow is another day. We’ll find a solution. Inshallah.
Demet is studying in her room. Mert texts Demet: the answer is “A”. I guess you’re studying, right? There’s only a few weeks left until the university entrance exam. I won’t bother you until then. And it’s time for me to graduate after finals. But the day the exams are over, I’ll be on your case, little one, because I miss you so much. She starts to write back, then changes her mind and goes back to studying. Mert waits in vain for a reply.
Nilufer shows up at Mert’s place. She thanks him for letting her stay there. I couldn’t think of another place to go. Old friends don’t turn their backs on each other, Mert replies, come in. This is my place now, it’s not big but it’s fine for me. Now I have to get back to studying.
So you are graduating, Nilu says. He says, yes, I’ve wasted enough time. Nilu notes, now you have your own home. You worked day and night at the company. You didn’t give up and now you’re graduating. [Maybe she thinks she should have stuck with Mert?] She picks up a framed photo of Mert and Demet. She says, and you have a relationship that makes you happy. My dad used to say I’d be happy and he ran my life. You run your life, but I’m a prisoner.
Nilu starts to cry. Mert goes to comfort her—don’t cry. She asks, could you hug me? I really need it. He hugs her and she cries in his arms.
And we are out.
I haven’t watched this yet. Thank you, Dondi! So, might Nilufer move toward Mert if he’s available? I’m not crazy about Nilufer and Fatih, but I like Mert and Demet.
I’ll watch after fut.
