TAN CERCA DE TI, NACE EL AMOR #6

Notes from the Couch Page 1

Please feel free to add anything I left out.

Hugo talks to Nayeli about his love for Vale. He is afraid to tell her his true feelings and being rejected. Nayeli says she knows what that is like. . . She warns him he better tell her how he feels because love that is kept hidden, ends up being lost.

Vale and Eleazar continue their visit. She has one of her favorite chocolates and guesses that his sister Claudia told him about them. He adds that if he would have known that giving her the chocolates would get him a hug, he would have brought more. She looks shocked but invites him to a chocolate.
He bites off half and feeds her the rest. She smiles. Yes, she will be attending the race.

On his way to work, Joaquín checks with Vero to see how things are going. Smiling, she says she feels renewed. She thanks him for not firing her. He says that she inspires confidence in him. She has a good heart. He is so impressed with her doing all she can to support her daughter. He tells her about being a guardian. Being a father is something he never really thought about and he is scared of making a mistake. She says he only has to be there. The kids only have to know that they can count on him.

Joaquín reaches for a cup of HOT coffee as Vero hands it to him. They both notice when their hands touch and he spills the coffee all over his shirt. She unbuttons it and starts to blow on his now reddened chest as she tries to wipe the coffee off of him. Kassandra walks in and is clearly suspicious with what she sees. It turns out that Kassandra decided to come by and check on Joaquín because he hadn't come to work yet. . . Kassandra tells "Consuelo" that she needs her documents to be able to do the paperwork for her hiring. "Consuelo" will bring them tomorrow.

Facundo is surprised that Mario Nolivos would see him. Holding a chess piece: a king, Mario, the mystery man, greets Facundo by telling him that when you are in an important chess game, a good player has to know his pieces. You can have a check mate with a pawn. Facundo says he is no pawn but an ally. He is the new head mechanic at Navarro Motocross. Mario says that is barely a first step. He will have access to plans, designs, and the heart of the company. Facundo asks if that would not be industrial espionage. Mario says is talking about POWER! He knows they both have the same goal: destroy Joaquín Navarro.

Facundo explains that although he has his own issues with Joaquín, now his top priority is his son who is racing on the Navarro team which is the best team in the country. Mario says it won't be for long. Olivos motors is on its way to the top. He knows his son is an alternate. Facundo says that will also be changing soon. Then, he and his son will make history. Mario wonders if his son is on the same road that led him to failure. If he really wants to see his son on that podium, he needs to aim higher. If he helps him take over Navarro Cross, he will make sure that his son is #! on the team. He gives Facundo a check for $600,00 pesos (about $34,400 dollars) . Mario says that his team needs to start racking up wins. Navarro has to start losing. It is Facundo's first loyalty test. Facundo smiles.

TAN CERCA Page 2

On his sofa at the curb, Iván is sorry that his daughter María José (Majo) has to witness his wrongful eviction. She clearly doesn't believe him. Why didn't she tell him she was coming? It turns out she wanted to get away from her mother. He laughs. She suggests they move into a hotel and is shocked he doesn't even have money for that.

Vero apologizes about the dress again to Vale on the way out. Vale is still upset and gives her the dress to throw out. Vero keeps it and decides to make it into a blouse for her daughter.

Vero discovers that Meli has a secret hiding place she has created with sheets in in the laundry room.

Facundo suggests a certain kind of high flow air filter that will allow for quicker motor recovery when their motorcycles do jumps. Joaquín is happy to hear that and asks how he feels about his first race as head mechanic tomorrow. Facundo tries to get Joaquín to replace Hugo with Eleazar but is unsuccessful. Joaquín says that everything is set as it should be with the Morcycle Association and cannot be changed. He adds that he made it clear to Eleazar that he was coming in as an alternate. Facundo is visibly disappointed but says that he understands. In the hallway, he thinks that he gave Joaquín a chance to do right by his son but since he isn't going to let his son race, he is going to call Mario Nolivos.

Nayeli cries to her mother that she is in love with Hugo ad he is stuck on a rich girl that doesn't even notice him. Her mother tries to console her.

Hugo has come to see Vale thinking about how he would tell her that he loves her. Instead, greets him with a hug and Eleazar. The guys start to argue with Vale in the middle. She calls out Eleazar for starting it and Hugo for taking the bait. She asks why they cannot see that they are on the same team. She tells them to make up because she is sick of them fighting. It does no good. Hugo asks if Eleazar is gong to keep on barking. A smirking Eleazar says at least Hugo knows he is the cat.

Joaquín helps his brother move his sofa and few personal effects into his house. Iván hopes to be there no more than . . . three nights. Joaquín suspects that is why he asked for the advance. He should have explained it was for rent. Iván has no idea what happened with his money. It just sort of went and then there was that thing on the internet. Joaquín tells him there is one condition for him staying at his house: NO MORE LIES. It turns out that Iván's ex took Majo to live in Spain years ago. He moans that he doesn't really know her. It was so expensive to go see her. Joaquin reminds him that he paid for him to go see Majo that one time and now that she is here, he has to take care of his daughter. He asks if that is clear and Iván stares at him with resentment.

Vero tells her aunt Consuelo that she is going to take her identification documents and change the photos and some dates so she can use them for her current employment. Consuleo is concerned that could lead to problems with the law because it is a crime but she cannot stop Vero and ends up going along with the plan.

Joaquín is invited to Kassandra's. With everything going on at his house, he is happy for the invitation. She invites him to a glass of wine.

Romina comes to visit Vero. She talks about her problem with getting pregnant. The doctor says there is nothing wrong with her. She also feels guilty that she cannot give her father a grandchild. She asks Vero if she has ever imagined what it is like to have a baby in your arms. Vero gets so upset she leaves for the bathroom later saying something she ate didn't agree with her. Romina always thought Vero would be the best mother in the world. Vero isn't sure about that. It's complicated. In the conversation, Vero finds out that Joaquín is Romina's boss.Romina thinks he is just like Vero. He runs at any sign of commitment. Maybe she should introduce them.

TAN CERCA Page 3

Majo is vegan and serves her father a vegan dinner. He tries to make the best of it. She wants to know about him. He has nothing to say.

On Kassandra's couch, Joaquín tells Kassandra all about his brother. His brother and his wife were both young and immature when they got married. They fought all the time. One day she upped and left for Spain with a two year old Majo and his brother did nothing to stop her. He encouraged his brothter to go visit his daughter but he only went once when he paid for the trip, Now, they are together like two strangers. Kassandra pours him another glass of wine. He jokes that somebody wants to get him drunk. She asks him how long has it been since they have had a glass of wine together. They are always working. She puts on some relaxing music. He falls asleep. She goes to kiss him and he coughs in her face and rolls on his side. Disappointed, she covers him with a throw instead.

Vale asks Diego where he was all day. He answers "Around." She says they need to know where he is. He disagrees. They have their guardian. Claudia comes in demanding to know why he didn't answer the phone. He blows up. He didn't want to talk to anybody! He throws the usual tantrum and upsets everybody. Vale reminds him that he isn't the only one who lost their parents. He thanks her for the scolding and tells her to mind her own business.

In a darkened shop, Facundo is busy tampering with a motorcycle.

The next morning, nobody can find Meli.

Hugo tells Nayeli his all ready for the race. He woke up 100%.

Joaquín wakes up and is in a hurry to leave. Kassandra comes out in her nightie and robe to check on him! She is happy he felt so content at her home! He is in a rush to go home when he gets the call that Meli is missing.

TAN CERCA

Jarifa, thank you for your excellent recap.

"Facundo suggests a certain kind of high flow air filter that will allow for quicker motor recovery when their motorcycles do jumps". I had no idea! I understood almost none of the Mario/Facundo conversation and am grateful you filled in all the details so thoroughly. I can't decide if I'm more intrigued by why Mario despises Joaquin so much or why we can't get a glimpse of him.

Vero is so sweet, it is obvious Vale's sharp, insensitive comments cut her to the quick. She is so achingly devoted to her daughter, who so far, has not proven worthy. I also felt for her during her heart to heart with Romina.

The two loser brothers, Ivan and Diego continue to disappoint. Ivan, completely irresponsible and Diego, nasty and hurtful to his siblings, needs a good shaking.

The scalding hot coffee "accident" had me smiling away. For a second, it looked like David Zepeda was having a tough time keeping a straight face. I hope they had fun with that scene.

Wake up Hugo. Nayeli is pure gold!

I hope Facundo's sabotage is unsuccessful. No Marcos tonight, which seemed strange.

Jarifa, thank you again.

Diana

I'm not watching but your character attributes were hilarious Blue Lass.

"Poutmaxxer", "cuckold", "sad sack", and "fishwife" (and others) were all great.

I'd not heard of "orthorexic" but now I know!

Blue Lass, that list of characters is the best. I skipped watching last night as I'm binging the Telemundo dizi and it's got my undivided attention, but I'll refer back to this page to keep the characters straight. I thought you missed a few then realized they were the tan cerca cast. I hate that so often new novelas start within a week or two of each other before I've nailed down the cast of whichever started first!

OT

Kat, which dizi are you watching ? I love dizis , but I haven't Been watching Lately. Susan

Guardian
Blue Lass, I loved your character analysis! It was helpful , and I have always loved your sense of humor . ..acerbic and clever. Susan

Guardian

We have seen the guy playing motorcycle guy in many telenovelas .We watched him grow up on these shows . Having taught in a high school, it is amazing how much guys change even after they graduate . He has always been a minor character , but I could see him becoming a galan someday .
Chava 's main job seems to be keeping him away from Barbiedoll. Susan

Guardian
Blue Lass, thanks for clearing up for me what is in those cans...beer . Okay, now I know what business the family is in ..besides the monkey business . We are a step ahead since there have been novels in which the writers never get around to telling us what business the wealthy family is in .
Fun scene of Gonzalez, and Vik exchanging punches while Abuelo is observing . Then, the bodyguard arrives to protect his charge and gets a punch. Susan

Jarifa, thank you for more excellent notes from the couch !

Well, now that Ivan and his daughter have moved into Joachin's house, they arent going anywhere because they have no money and thus no place to go. I am still hoping that Ivan will turn over a new leaf and become an ally to his brother . The galan always needs a devoted friend or brother , and now that Luis is gone , Joachin is surrounded by enemies .

At least Cassandra didn't use that old novela trope of telling the galan that they slept together while he was drunk.

Hmmm...How will Sour Vale react to her dress being turned into a tiny blouse??? Susan

Ot
Susan, Poder y tracion on Telemundo. They moved it to 12:30 a.m. it is absolutely riveting. I'm now all caught up though the recaps are in the 60s. Not sure if Telemundo will show seasons 2 and 3. I will search for it elsewhere like I did with Bahar when they didn't show the final season

Jarifa, thanks a bunch.

Consuelo is a hoot when it comes to daily chores. Burns pancakes, scorches dress, discombobulates vacuum - now she blows on Joaquin's chest as first-aid. I can't wait to see what she'll mess up next. I hope the blouse making goes well.

Guardian

Blue Lass, your character descriptions are hilarious. I'm not watching the TN but I can "see" these guys and gals.

GUARDIAN

Diana and Niecie, thanks for dropping by Table G. We are a small group, and mostly just drinking kool-aid, but you're always welcome. ;}

GUARDIAN

Was anyone able to decipher that note to Emma from El Bulldog? Something about taking him for a walk, and promising not to bark? And what was that thing, anyway? A smartwatch or a radio collar?

Rulo made some kind of comment about her being "more turned on than a coffee pot in the morning," which I hadn't heard before. These expressions...!

Tan Cerca

Thanks so much, Jarifa, great recap. I wonder why Joaquin is hated by Facundo and the Mario guy. Joaquin seems to remember being good friends with Facundo. Mario apparently has a rival business and just wants to ruin Joaquin and his business. I wonder if Kassandra would fight to save Joaquin’s business. She certainly was telling him how important it was to get to Miami.

I can’t imagine them filming Consuela blowing on Joaquin’s chest with a straight face. Cold water might have worked better!

I enjoyed Joaquin falling asleep at Kassandra’s. I felt like she was waiting for him to wake up so he could see her in a neglige.

I hope Vale likes the blouse. I’m glad Veronica didn’t throw it away.

I guess it was Hugo’s motorcycle that was sabatoged by Facundo. I hope whatever happens that they find out someone did it on purpose. Although Joaquin will never suspect his old friend.

Guardián

Blue Lass, thanks for the character list. Great descriptions of who’s who! I’m watching this but only know the main characters by name. I can’t believe the piano teacher is Sabastian’s mother and he didn’t recognize her. Franco knew her immediately!

GUARDIAN

I know; that's so strange. Of course Franco just met her, and we don't know how long it's been since Chava has seen her. But still -- tighten that beanie.

TAN CERCA

Diana, "Vero is so sweet, it is obvious Vale's sharp, insensitive comments cut her to the quick." I agree that was hard to watch. I am wondering if Romina's problem with getting pregnant is really due to a problem her husband has. . .

Susan, "At least Cassandra didn't use that old novela trope of telling the galan that they slept together while he was drunk." I didn't think of that but you are right. As for friends, it does look like Joaquín is high and dry but doesn't know it.

Niecie, I am enjoying the touches of humor with Consuelo the maid. It is a welcome break from the drama. I loved the scene from a couple of episodes back where she ended up vacuuming up Joaquín's tie.

Liz, "I can’t imagine them filming Consuela blowing on Joaquin’s chest with a straight face. Cold water might have worked better!" That must have been a hoot to shoot! I hope they do not make us wait too much longer for the reason for Facundo's hatred of Joaquín.

I cannot wait until the race tonight!!

TAN CERCA DE TI, NACE EL AMOR #7

Notes from the Couch Page 1

-Vero is the heroine twice
After everyone looks high and low, Diego throws more tantrums. Joaquín returns accompanied by Kassandra to the house, Vero finds Meli in her hiding place in the laundry room.

Vero talks to Daniela and Meli about the arguments they are having with Diego. She tells them she has a sister, too, and after they had fights as kids , she always felt bad. She is sure that Diego feels bad, too. She adds where there is love, it all works out and .Diego loves them a lot. Their family has to stay together. Carmen hears her and clearly approves of the message. She would have told them the same thing. Diego tells her to mind her own business when she tries to talk to him.

-Kassandra digs herself a hole she cannot get out of
Kassandra 's mother Isaura criticizes her for not being able to seduce Joaquín. He is a gold mine and they could be swimming in his money if she only played her cards right. Kassandra says that the orphans are complicating things. Isaura thinks she should use those orphans to get closer to him.

Joaquín tells Kassandra he doesn't know what to do with Diego. or with anything in this new situation where he finds himself. He is under constant stress. She reminds him that everything has changed and he agrees with her 100%. He doesn't know if he can handle it all on his own. She moves closer and suggests it would be easier if he had somebody by his side. He reminds her he doesn't have that person. He is alone. She shakes her head and reminds him that he is not alone. There has been somebody by his side for years who cares for him but he hasn't realized it. It is her. She always there for him. We see Joaquín's spidey sense alerting him and so does she when he asks her if she is saying . . . she tries to backtrack and say she was just talking about their friendship over all these years and her friendship with the late Mirandas. He makes it clear that the children are HIS responsibility, not hers. She chatters on some more but it looks like damage has been done to their friendship. He finds it strange that she would be so emotionally charged over his situation. Vale overhears it all. Later, Kassandra realizes she should have kept her mouth shut.

-Failure the race track
Hugo is happy to see Vale at the race. She reminds him she has never missed one of his races before. Hugo and Eleazar insult each other as usual. and Hugo starts to notice that his vision is getting blurry.

Vale comes into the locker room is upset with him when she sees he is not preparing for the race. He is reluctant to tell her about his blurry vision but finally does. What to do? The race is about to begin!

Mario the mystery man calls Facundo. He has noticed that the Navarro rider is late to the track and assumes that Facundo had something to do with it. Facundo says no. He warns Facundo that he is looking for his team to win even if that means that his son ends up losing. Facundo answers that if Hugo races, Mario's racer will win but if his son races he will be no loser.

TAN CERCA page 2

Facundo tells his son to get ready. He is going to race. Eleazar is worried about going behind Joaquín's back and not earning his spot but Facundo is willing to take that risk. Facundo calls Joaquín. Hugo is missing. Joaquín tells him that he will be at the track in 15 minutes.

Marcos comes into the locker room and tells Hugo he needs to get dressed. Eleazar is ready to suit up if he doesn't. Hugo answers that he will be ready in two minutes. When Marco leaves, Vale takes his helmet telling him he cannot race like he is. He could kill himself. He finally agrees and tells her to tell Eleazar the race is his.

Marcos tells everyone that Hugo is coming but it is Vale coming out on Hugo's bike. With his helmet, nobody can see it is her! She finds her place in the starting lineup. Joaquín arrives. As the race goes on, Joaquín notices that there is something odd about the way "Hugo" is racing. Hugo watches her from the crowd. She wipes out. Eleazar has to smile. Back at the house, Vero suddenly feels like something is wrong. Vale gets back up and continues racing. She ends up in second place. Suddenly, Vero feels better. Vale goes back into the locker room and is enraged she didn't win. She raced so Hugo could keep his place and not hand it over to Eleazar. She ends up with an abraded forearm and elbow. . She needs to get out of his racing suit ASAP.

Facundo wants to blame the accident on something Marcos didn't do. Joaquín thinks the fault is with the rider not Marcos.. Eleazar stops by the locker room to rub Hugo's nose in the loss. Vale pops out and defends Hugo. Joaquín confronts Vale. He doesn't think that the rider was Hugo. It was her. He wants to see her and Hugo in his office.

-The acorn doesn't fall far from the tree?
Ivàn brings Majo to see the race. They stop off at Lorena's snack bar. It turns out that Majo is a motocross fan especially of the drivers. As Majo goes to get them some water she sees a sign: Waitress Needed. She smiles and chats with Lorena. He checks his phone and sees Olga his ex called him. She tells him that Majo came to Mexico because she is a fugitive from the law in Spain. He cannot believe it. He asks Majo about her running away from the police in Madrid. She thinks her mother is overreacting. She admits that she and some friends were arrested in Madrid because of drugs but she is not a drug addict. They were with some guys that had the drugs but the police treated them all the same. That is even hard for Iván to believe. He wants to know what she is into if it isn't drugs. She is into veganism. It is not a sect but a way to live. He isn't for that. She reminds him of the vegan meal she made for him and he liked it. He isn't too sure. She also thinks she has found her career. She goes to talk to Lorena.

-Everything else

Comedic break: Consuelo is on Aurelio's case for not doing the exercise that the doctor prescribed for him when she took him to his appointment. He sees younger people exercising in the park and insists it is not for him. Consuelo reminds him that when her sister (his wife) died, she had promised her she would take care of the kids and him.She forces him into some push ups.

Kassandra complains to Joaquín that she only has copies of "Consuelo's" documents and not the originals. He doesn't care. He NEEDS THAT WOMAN in his home. Uh oh, Kassandra doesn't look happy.

Diego pitches yet another fit in his room and ends up listening to recordings he has of himself singing. He remembers his mother encouraging him to follow a career in music.

Vero looks forward to giving Vale the newly fashioned top in person.

TAN CERCE

Jarifa, I so enjoyed your clear, concise and smartly written summary. This was brimming with sharp observations including your wry "the acorn doesn't fall far from the tree?" No, indeed it does not :)

I'm so enjoying how Vero is endearing herself not only to the children (well at least to Daniela and Meli) and has even managed to crack Carmen's cement like countenance (at least a bit).

Has Hugo's blurry vision been alluded to before or was this the first time? Vale has no fear and by getting up after her crash and continuing the race showed she has courage. And heart.

Joaquin's no fool realizing it was Vale who was driving. He was also sharp in immediately discerning Kassandra is trying to make their relationship more than it is wasting no time in relegating her right back into the "friend" zone. He also understands who is helping to keep the wheels on the bus: "He NEEDS THAT WOMAN in his home". Absolutely :)

Loved the "real" Consuelo putting Aurelio through the paces!

Majo seems definitely into the con. I'm thinking she is quite a bit smarter than her father and will be far more successful.

Jarifa, thank you so much.

Diana

Jarifa, I am so grateful for your couch notes as this story unfolds .
Kassadra's mother is awful. No wonder Cassandra is the way she is ...another tree. Another acorn not far away.
I knew That Vero would eventually melt Carmen's coldness towards her . I think that Carmen will become Vero' s ally in that house . Joachim has already noticed that Vero can be an important ally with those kids .

Then, yet another tree and acorn....tricky, lazy Ivan and his conniving daughter. Maybe I am wrong about Ivan becoming an ally of his brother. Maybe it will be Joachin and Vero against the villains. The children will surely be part of that alliance at some point.

Diana, Hugo has noticed problems with his eyes for several episodes. Susan

Guardian

I am hoping that Uriel becomes a good character under the influence of sweet Marisol.
The actress playing Gina is really chewing up the scenery . she should simmer down a bit . The original AV character wasn't this loud and annoying.
The role of Rex in AV was played by the adorable , popular Sherlyn. Susan

Jarifa, terrific storytelling. "We see Joaquín's spidey sense alerting him and so does she when he asks her if she is saying ..." You nailed this moment. I'm glad (fingers crossed) that we have a galan who's no pushover.

I wondered at first if Facundo had caused Diego's blurry vision. But, uh-oh, Diego has a real medical problem. I hope the kids come clean to Joaquin.

TAN CERCA DE MI

Diana, Yes, "Majo seems definitely into the con. I'm thinking she is quite a bit smarter than her father and will be far more successful." I agree because she is also actually getting a job. Who knows what kind of opportunities (good or bad) that may afford her? It will be interesting if she turns around after her experience with her father. Maybe she will help Diego get out of his obnoxious mood.

Susan, "I think that Carmen will become Vero' s ally in that house." Me, too, you can see her defrosting a bit towards Vero already.

Niece, "I'm glad (fingers crossed) that we have a galan who's no pushover." Let us hope he continues that way. Zepeda played his character being played by Kassandra, oh, so well. Very subtle but so effective.

Tan Cerca

Thanks Jarifa, I enjoyed your recap. I like that the show throws in some comedy to lighten the heavy stuff. I also think Carmen will soften towards “Consuelo” mainly because they both are there for the children. She already is realizing that Consuelo is not the best housekeeper but definitely knows what the children need.

I’ve never been a fan of the guy that plays Aurelio, I only remember him as not being the nice guy. But I had to laugh when his sister-in-law was lecturing him on exercise and had him get down for his push-UPS.

I wonder if anyone, like Marcus, will check out Hugo’s bike. Is he the one that noticed it wasn’t doing quite right. I really thought Vale was going to get seriously hurt, so I’m glad she was just bruised. Maybe tonight Hugo will admit to Joaquin about his eyes and Joaquin will follow through and get him checked out. Although meanwhile Eleazar will take his place and his dad has no intention of having him lose a race. Hopefully Vale has his number now, since she caught him being nasty to Hugo and said something to him.

Guardián

Aramis obviously thinks Georgina is one of the three sisters. But does anyone know why she apparently wasn’t raised with the other two? She probably will turn out to be his daughter, but I bet he thinks Rex is her daughter. Either way, she’s his granddaughter!
