Your #63 was an outstanding recap and such an enjoyable read, novelera. The spot on asides had me agreeing and laughing. Thanks so much.

There was a slight edit before Latif entered the kitchen and let Sultan have it. Sultan was talking about taking turns at breakfast service. She said there is no need for all of them to stand there every day. She added, don’t we get tired, too? Sefika thought it was good because there would always be someone to stay with Firat.

Big edits are bad enough but what’s with the slight ones? They are not always throwaway lines. Even the few wordless seconds leading in or out of a scene can give insight. The Turks say so much with just their facial expressions.

Halis told Ferit that if he thought Necip (armless master) was difficult, wait till he met Sadik. Anyway, our Ferit always finds a way to get over.

I rarely feel sorry for Pelin. IMHO, she is one of the worst characters and actor is out of her league here.

Kat, ITA this is very bingeable. I’ve mentioned in earlier posts that this dizi has 101 Turkish episodes and I watched them each week as they aired in Türkiye. I need to be careful with my comments, too, as not to spoil anything.

The big question for me is how they will end it for us. Will it end at the original first season? Go a little into the second season for a gran final wrap up or will they give us another whole season? I will be extremely angry if they decide to edit anything in the últimas. The final episodes of the first season were exceptional and they should remain intact.

I don’t see new episodes in my TV schedule after the World Cup starts. There are late night matches in Eastern Time.

I can take #64. Not sure how quickly I can post.

Golden

Dondi, I have to give you credit for not commenting after seeing the entire series. Where are you watching the uncut versions? I'm seeing out as far as 113 now. Telemundo isn't very forthcoming about where it ends, except to tease us with ultima semanas for weeks!

My least favorite characters are Ifakat and Kazim. Every time she has that smug smirk on her face I get so angry with her. Kazim with his avarice and continued abuse of his wife and girls is awful. I still don't get what has made Hattuc so unpleasant either. I'm still waiting to learn his and Hattice's story. I'm really devouring the episodes, now up to 108.

golden

I’m sorry I’ve been absent but I’ve been under the weather. And there’s watching the Spurs.

I’ll do 65 sometime after 64 posts.

I’ve been watching ahead also. One possibility is to let Telemundo finish it’s episodes. We might then go ahead like we do with kpa. We could recap slowly or just watch and comment. kpa will end soon, so we might need something to watch. Of course there’s the Turkish one Uzak Zehir, I thunk, that might come back to Telemundo.

Anyway, I’m open to anything.

Babachita

Golden

I binged episodes Poder y Traición episodes 1-11 today. I agree it's a compelling soap. I still have some nerve pain, so didn't feel like doing much else. I have things going on and things to do over the next few days, so I can't keep up that pace.

lobo

lunes – Parte 1 de 2 We get a rewind of Cruz and Miranda in that parking garage or whatever it is. Miranda refuses to get Renata. He says he’ll kill her right now and get Renata from where he thinks she’ll go (social services. He’ll use her eyes to get the money and then kill Renata so she won’t suffer over losing her mother.

Adela tells Fer and Graciela that Renata cannot go with Lobo. He’s not legally her father. Graciela is talked into taking Renata.

Antonia gives it her best shot with Renata. She tells her that she understands anger at a father. She just experienced that same thing. She thought her father was a superhero. But, when he wasn’t all that, she rejected him. But, she tells Renata, she forgave him. We all need to forgive. Renata just says she wants to go.

Leonor is being transferred to the Big Gal prison. No trial? She’s mobbed by some awful reporters on the way out. Nacho comes to her rescue. She’s given a few minutes with her remaining child. It’s a sad moment. She also tells Sué she’s sorry for what she did.

Graciela suggests that Renata say goodbye to Lobo before they leave. Nope.

Cruz gets word that Renata will be at Santi and Fer’s place and with Graciela. I presume the rotten Fabio was the one on the line when Cruz picked up. Cruz says it’s pan comida (easy-peesey) to get Renata from where she’s staying.

Cruz tells Miranda what Viewerville has known for the whole telenovela. Graciela is easy to manipulate. When Miranda resists some more, he says he’ll go in by force and can’t guarantee Graciela’s survival. Miranda sneers at his disregard for the woman who loved him. His reply is that she betrayed him.

Lobo tells Antonia he’s never felt so bad in his whole life. She rejected him. Antonia says that Renata is in shock, and things will get better.

Miranda calls Graciela, who’s sitting there with Fer, Santi, and Eugenio. Of course she doesn’t hang up. Graciela works on her, admitting her mistakes. She says she wants to get the money from the cache and to take Renata far away. Graciela could come as well. She asks Graciela to give Renata an allergy pill to knock her out.

Cruz tells Miranda they’ll fly to San Ysidro.

In the morning Santa and Fer are puzzled that Renata is sleeping so late. They go to their respective jobs. After they leave Graciela tells the cops outside that she heard a noise. She manages to walk out with Renata while the cops search.

Lobo and Antonia arrive and discover that Graciela left with Renata.

lobo

lunes – Parte 2 de 2

Cruz huddles in the back seat while Miranda walks out into a parking garage. The sisters talk for a while, mostly Graciela telling Miranda what’s bothered her. Cruz is impatient. Graciela wants a piece of paper absolving her. What she gets is a folded up note and is told to give it to Lobo. Miranda tells Graciela she isn’t going after the money, just taking Renata to Europe.

Graciela opens the note, which says to tell Lobo they’re going for the cache, and that he should come alone. An address is given

Graciela admits to Lobo what she did. Lobo is beside himself with worry. Antonia reminds him that Cruz needs Renata. Antonia and Lobo get on a plane as well.

We see a plane in the air, and then a weird concrete building without windows. Renata is awake. We see her pocket her eye drops.

Somehow they know at the cop shop where the cache is.

Fer is with Alejandro who’s still in the hospital. Ale tells Fer that Miranda doesn’t know that there’s a keypad to get into the place, Miranda tells Cruz she thought only Renata’s eyes were the way in. Cruz gets nasty. Miranda calls Ale who says the code is the first and last numbers of the latitudes and Longitudes of the location. [This was a real nerd move.] Cruz enters the number, and they go in.

Cruz gets greedy and weird, walking around the space.

Adela rips into Graciela for giving Cruz what he needed.

Lobo and Antonia arrive. Inside Cruz is griping that the money isn’t sitting there is a treasure chest.

Miranda and Cruz let Renata rest on a bench.

The FBI show up. They insist on going in. Cruz finds a steel door and some sort of metal box beside it. Guess it’s where Renata’s eyes are meant to look.

Lobo gets into the building from the roof. The U.S. cops decode with a tablet and they all go in

Renata pours out the eyedrops and pretends to be unconscious. Cruz loses his you know what. He yells that he’ll kill the girl.

OT

Just in case you didn’t know. . . A fourth season of “La Reina del Sur” with Kate del Castillo is currently in production for a 2027 Telemundo release!

Golden, I'm certainly open to watching the next season if I can find it. I'd like to find the long versions that dondi watches, dubbed in Spanish with English captions, lol. Once I finish this I'll binge KPA again. I usually get home from babysitting around 4 or 5 and it's generally too hot to work outside (or in since we wait to turn on the AC until we can't stand it) so before I make dinner I watch one or two episodes, then from 9 til midnight I watch what I feel like.

Golden /OT

Anastasia, I used to get so distracted by the Spanish dubbing so I resisted the Turkish shows. (There was a comedy about a big family that I tried to watch and hated that I can't recall the title because I only made it through one or two episodes). I stumbled across toda por mi hija on my own and realized the stories are different and compelling. So now I actually prefer them to the Mexican telenovelas. My daughter in law's family (Colombian) recommended the Colombian telenovelas and I really like them also.

"LOBO"
Novelera: Thank you very much for your recap of last night's episode. My personal thoughts:
*Novelera: I agree with you about Fabio: He needs to go down ASAP! Sick of his uppityism.

*Lady Macbeth FINALLY apologized to Sue for killing Sue's baby. Not shocked she's being transferred to the Big Girl prison.

*Slippery Cruz becoming more unhinged non-stop. I won't be sad if Clingy Miranda dies.

*FBI & the Mexican Federal Police coordinating together: What could possibly go wrong?

*Adela & Co., scolding Buji Goldie Locks & rightfully so!

*Will Lobo, Antonia & Co., rescue Renata in the nick of time? 🤔

OT

Regarding Lobo, my issue is perfect timing since it concludes tonight. For Golden, not so much. I'm having surgery Thursday on my left hand and won't be typing for a while. I have severe Dupuytren's on my pinky finger.

Lobo

Good luck with your surgery, Novelera.

I have a cervical epidural steroid injection Wednesday morning. I will recap the Lobo finale in the afternoon or as soon as I feel up to it.

One piece of Lobo news, if you are impatient for the recap - all the good guys and gals survive. I was sure that Lobo would die at the end, in accordance with the title "Lobo:Morir Matando". So I could complain to Telemundo that the title was wrong.

"LOBO" GRAN FINAL HIGHLIGHTS DISCUSSION:
Novelera, Anastasia, Babachita, SpanProf, Darcy, Dondi356 & Co: Howdy from the Alamo City CarayCaray Family. #GOSPURSGO

*Anastasia: Wondering if Telemundo had cut off half of the scenes from last night's Gran Final because I am wondering if they took down Skivy Fabio ?

*Slippery Cruz points his gun at both Lobo & Clingy Miranda & we had to endure his typical threats, etc.,

*Federal Police, FBI & SWAT barging into the hideout or whatever it is.

*We also see Lobo & Slippery Cruz struggling with the gun, Lobo gets wounded.

*Hothead Oscar attacks one of the police officers inside one of the jail cells, grabs his gun & goes on a triggered rant threatening to kill everyone, etc.,

*We see Buji Goldie Locks, Santi, Sue & Ignacio including everyone else inside the Federal Police Headquarters being held at gunpoint.

*Buji Goldie Locks attempts to talk down Hothead Oscar from doing anything stupid, but he grabs Ignacio & points the weapon at Ignacio.

*In the meantime, we see Renata running back to the hideout, used her eyes to open up the chamber or wherever & the money is still there, but Slippery Cruz & Lobo aren't there.

*Antonia finds the secret door, which leads towards somewhere outdoors in the middle of some island.

*Slippery Cruz holds his weapon pointed at Lobo, but Antonia & Co., point their guns at Slippery Cruz, who lets Lobo go. Long story short, Slippery Cruz offs himself.

*Earlier, we see Hugo & Fernando easily take down Hothead Oscar FINALLY.

*Miranda bids Renata farewell as she turns herself into the law enforcement authorities; Adela informs Ignacio, Sue, Santi, Buji Goldie Locks that Slippery Cruz is dead.

*Fast forward 1 year later: Miranda & Lady Macbeth both serving their respective sentences inside the Big Lady prison; Buji Goldie Locks is preggers carrying Santi & Fernando's baby; Antonia, Lobo & Renata living happily ever after plus we see Hugo & Adela getting their happily ever after wedding with Eugenio & Zahie in attendance. 😉

lobo

After last night i suspect there will be a sequel. Fabio is still out there. Miranda hints she won’t be inside for long. Alejandro is around. Don’t know if Lady Macbeth is going to be good or bad. Crazy Oscar could go either way.

I did like that the good guys seem happy. Adela got married. Graciela is about to give Fer and Santi their baby. Renata has accepted Lobo.

I’ve been waiting for Fabio’s anvil, so I’m disappointed.

Go Spurs Go!

Babachita

Lobo

Thanks Steve

I think Oscar was trying for suicide by cop. Didn't work.

I think the secret door in the vault building led to its roof. Cruz and Lobo went up there, and shortly afterwards Antonia found it. I don't know if it was on an island, but it was right next to The Pacific Ocean. (Interesting because I just checked Google Maps. San Ysidro is a little inland from the ocean. The show did have one shot of the border wall going into the ocean so the building they used is near the ocean.)

Lobo

Agree Steve and Babachita that not showing what happened to Fabio was a missing plot point. The writers could have easily written him as being shot in the Oscar rampage.

I was surprised to see Alejandro visiting Miranda in prison a year later, meaning he was a free man. He was arrested as an accomplice Monday, but we'll assume he got a good lawyer and got himself acquitted.

"LOBO"/OT
Babachita: Sounds like you think Telemundo is bringing it back for a 2nd Season.

Anastasia: If there's a sequel in the works, I have to think Slippery Fabio will still be around & the way Miranda was implying about not being in prison very long tells me she's plotting something sinister.

PS: Happy for Hugo & Adela getting their happily ever after.

lobo

Steve, when someone posts that they are planning to do a recap, it's customary to say nothing or very little until the recapper posts the recap.

Anastasia, in case you still plan on recapping, I'll hold off on my two cents on last night's finale. I will say you surprised me thinking Lobo would die based on the title. I've been watching these shows for over 20 years, and I cannot remember a protagonist being killed off.

Lobo

I am fine with Steve's comments. I think he was helping out since I was/am having a medical day today. I'm just now late afternoon getting my recap thoughts together. If we had had another episode tonight Steve's comments would have been more timely than mine will be.

Lobo should have died , killing, to match the title Telemundo chose. I pictured a death as a sacrifice to keep Renata safe, and indeed they teased us with having Lobo shot in the stomach. He miraculously survived, was able to have a conversation while lying on the gurnee and even more miraculously, did not have a scar on his stomach during the year later sex scene. I watched Game of Thrones, and they regularly killed off main characters. And the dizi "Bajar" killed off Bajar's ex-husband in a plane crash. That same actor was also killed off by beheading in "Secretos de Sangre". (So the Turks are braver than Telemundo.)

Lobo

Steve's comments are in a different style, so they are complementary to a straight narrative.

I have my notes ready, but DH is starting dinner. I'll type up my recap while you all are watching the Spurs and Knicks.

OT

Before I finish my recap, I want to wish novelera the best with her surgery. I hope that all went well with your medical procedure, Anastasia. And I'm sorry you've been feeling under the weather, Babachita. I appreciate everyone's efforts to keep the recaps and discussion going under such circumstances.

Anastasia, the Turks manage to break my heart with killing off beloved characters and giving us unhappy endings.

I'll have my golden recap up late tonight. Thanks for your patience.

Lobo
Ep # 70, part 1
June 9, 2026
Grand Finale

Miranda, with Cruz, picks up the sleeping Renata to take to open the vault. The building is across the border in the U.S. (They all finally flew to the border in various airplanes in yesterday's episode.) Lobo enters the building, sees the empty eye medicine bottle, and follows to catch up with Miranda, Cruz, and Renata.

Antonia enters the building with some US SWAT team agents.

Lobo catches up and says he just wants his daughter, not any money. He gives up his gun to Cruz. Cruz realizes that Miranda had told Lobo where they were. Miranda runs at Cruz, and Lobo and Renata go run behind something and hide (instead of all the way out of the building). Renata agrees to open the vault lock with her eyes in exchange for Ren, Mir and Lobo being let go. Renata opens the vault with her eyes. Cruz goes through the doorway, taking Renata with him. The vault room is full of money. Cruz continues to use Renata as a human shield. Lobo charges at Cruz and Cruz shoots Lobo in the stomach. Renata runs to Miranda. Miranda and Renata leave the vault room and shut the door. Lobo and Cruz are locked in the vault room together.

Antonia contacts Cruz and tells him to surrender. Cruz says that he will finish off Lobo unless Antonia brings a truck for he and the goods. Antonia replies that she doesn't have that kind of authority or recourse in the U.S. Lobo keeps bleeding. He tells Cruz to stop trying to run away from his end in prison. Cruz replies that he will decide how this ends. Lobo and Cruz speak of karma. Lobo reminds Cruz that in prison he would be locked up with all the men he had prosecuted and put in prison. They might have an agenda. Cruz tries to shoot Lobo again, but his gun is empty. Then he pulls out the second gun that he got from Lobo. Lobo tells him that there is only one bullet left in that gun. Choose well.

Miranda and Renatal run into Antonia advancing into the building. The adults start to leave, but Renata runs back to open the vault door again to try to save Lobo. Meanwhile Cruz is sure there is another way out of the vault room. (I say unusual for a vault. But the show writers disagree with me.) Cruz knocks over some shelving in anger, and lo and behold finds the back exit. He leaves, taking Lobo with him. Treasurewise, he only takes one briefcase with some documents in it. (Stock shares? I don't know, but Cruz was excited to find it.) Ren opens the main vault door with her eyes. Antonia and Miranda run in. They see that Cruz and Lobo are gone. Antonia finds the back exit and catches up with Cruz and Lobo. They are on the roof of the building (with beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean). The US agents surround Cruz. Cruz, realizing he has no escape, and wanting to avoid prison, decides how his story will end and uses the last bullet to commit suicide.

Miranda and Renata say thanks to Lobo while Lobo is lying on an ambulance gurney. Renata hears Miranda say that Lobo is her father. Antonia tells Renata gently that Miranda will be arrested and go to prison. Renata agrees to stay with Lobo while Miranda is in prison, since he is her papa.

Lobo
Ep #70, part 2
June 9, 2026
Grand Finale

Meanwhile, back at the Fiscalia and the jail, Nacho (Ignacio) visits Oscar, who is behind bars. They have disparaging things to say to each other. Nacho realizes that his father, Cruz, is a kidnapper and a criminal, same as Azufrero. He leaves the jail area. Oscar feigns an illness, overtakes the guard who comes to take him to the infirmary, and drags him upstairs to the Fiscalia main floor, using the guard as a human shield. He threatens to kill the guard. Graciela is there, and tries to get Oscar to release the guard. Oscar releases the guard and grabs Nacho instead. Fer and Hugo leave the computer surveillance room upon hearing the commotion, and sneak up behind Oscar and overtake him. Crisis averted. (I imagine that Oscar was trying to instigate the cops to help him commit suicide. But the room was too crowded with people to take a safe shot.)

Adela, having heard from Antonia, notifies Ignacio, Sue and the Good Guys at the Fiscalia that Cruz is dead.

Miranda signs off papers giving temporary custody of Renata to Lobo while she is in prison.

Miranda and Gracie have a heart-to-heart talk in the visitors room at the prison, and become sisters again. Miranda gives Gracie the de la Colina house to live in. Miranda says she will join her when she gets out of prison. Miranda's pipedream is that her imprisonment won't be super long.

As Steve and Babachita pointed out, Fabio's fate was not shown. I am sure that he is a guest of the United Mexican States.

When Lobo is out of the hospital, he and Renata have a heart-to-heart. Renata says that she realizes how much Lobo took care of her over the last few months. She says that she realizes that she has two fathers. They agree that she can keep her fond memories of Gustavo. Lobo says that Renata's nickname should be Lobita.

The show jumps one year ahead.

Lobo and Antonia are still together, and Renata lives with them. (I could see that Lobo wasn't wearing a wedding ring. Too bad.)

The Fiscalia kept all the money and assets found in the vault. It won't go to Renata because the money was ill-gotten. (I imagine the California police get a cut.)

Alejandro visits Miranda and tells her that he got a job far away. Miranda says she will join him when she is released. Again, she indicates that will be relatively soon. (I am surprised that Alejandro is not also in prison. He must have had a good lawyer.)

Gracie is carrying a baby for Santi and Fernando. She is pretty far along in her pregnancy.

Leonor is transferred to the prison cell that Miranda is in. As the wife of the DA and a guera, she is about to be attacked by some of the other "lady" prisoners. Miranda, with her steely gaze, has somehow gained power in the prison and saves her.

Hugo and Adela have a small intimate beach wedding. Adela's son is of course there. The Good Guys are guests. Eugenio and Zahie are still together.

Later, Lobo, Renata, and Antonia are shown having a tender moment on the beach. They wade into the ocean. End scene, episode and series.

Novelera - Good luck with your hand surgery!
I am glad to report that I am feeling much better today after my steroid injection. Hope this continues.
Less than a minute to go in the Spurs-Knicks game. I had better run downstairs to the TV.

OT

Sorry, Steve and SA fans. That was a heartbreaking loss.

#64 part 1

Slight rewind of Seyran apologizing to Gulgun. Seyran says that any bit of good that Ferit has in him is thanks to Gulgun. Gulgun notes that nothing will be the same in the yali. She’s decided to change. Seyran was the catalyst. She adds, and I hope you can change my son, too, okay?

The Sanlis are getting ready to visit the yali. Kazim is still whining about his leg. Hattuc looks very nice in her suit and Esme and Kazim compliment her. We are guests tonight, Auntie says, should I wear casual clothing? Esme asks if she can go get dressed. [she has to ask permission?!] Kazim tells her to go and hurry so they won’t be late.

After Esme leaves, Kazim tells Hattuc to help Esme get ready. Fix her so she won’t embarrass us, he says. Hattuc gripes, I wanted to rest my legs for a few minutes, but I guess I can’t. Kazim wonders what’s the big deal. You dressed up, why can’t my wife? When she dresses up, she’s like Madonna, right? Kazim laughs. Hattuc shakes her head and goes, I swear I’m tired of your spoiled demands. Kazim calls out, but don’t overdo it like on New Year's Eve.

Kazim hears a phone. It’s not his. He hobbles over to Hattuc’s handbag and takes out her phone. Halis is calling. It’s an unpleasant surprise. He manages to guess the pin to open phone and sees a lot of calls with Halis. Kazim is angry, what is this?! And she has him saved in the phone as just “Halis”! He grumbles, she’s driving me crazy! Kazim… Kazim… you need to be afraid of these Korhans. From the grandfather to the grandson, they are a bunch of womanizers.

Kazim shouts for Esme. He tells her not to bother getting dressed. He’s going to the yali alone. She’s disappointed and asks why. It’s not for you to decide, he snaps, I just want it that way! But Aunt Hattuc dressed so beautifully, she replies, don’t you want her to go? Tell her the in-law called and we are going to talk man to man, he replies. Get it? The in-laws said. We are their relatives! Explain this to her. Bring me my coat and don’t upset me!

Slight edit. Ferit is home and enters the bedroom. He leans on the door and asks Seyran, should I be afraid? Yes, she replies, that is yes… in general, but why are you asking now? He approaches her and handles her hair. You cut it, he says. She smiles, you noticed right away. Bravo. He answers, Seyro, it’s not easy being Ferit Korhan. I have told you this so many times.

What’s wrong with cutting my hair, she asks. I don’t know, Ferit says, usually women cut their hair when they are depressed. Seyran rolls her eyes and answers, of course, Ferit Korhan is an expert in feminine psychology, so he will not miss such detail. Ferit circles her. He tells her it looks good. He gathers some strands and gives a sniff.

Ferit notes that Seyran seems a bit tense. He asks, what happened? Isn’t it the style you wanted? It’s not that short. She confesses, Ferit, I have something to tell you. I went to see Pelin today. What? After dragging her out of here by the arm, he says, what else did you have left to do?

Seyran explains, I apologized. I said what was necessary. Ferit shocked and can’t believe she apologized. Seyran is pleased that Ferit didn’t know. It means he hasn’t been in contact with Pelin. How could I have known, he replies, grandpa’s always behind me. They had me in a little office all day. She asks, so you don’t see her or talk to her because of your grandpa? I’m not seeing her, he says, what do you mean? And you won’t be seeing her, Seyran answers.

Ferit sits next to Seyran on the couch. He asks her to tell him what did they spoke about. We shared our problems, Seyran replies. He asks, I suppose I am the problem in common?

golden
#64 part 2

Very much so, Seyran answers. Remember the time you fought at Pelin’s house? I heard the whole conversation. That day she said, “you’ll do to Seyran exactly what you did to me.” Today she said the exact same thing. I didn’t say anything to upset her but you can’t do to me what you did to her, even if you wanted to. I won’t let you. Write this on your face in large letters.

Ferit takes a breath. She didn’t lie to you, he replies, I treated Pelin very badly. I upset her very much. To be honest, I’m the reason that Pelin is in this state. That’s why every time something happens to her, I feel bad. I feel very guilty. Seyran reasons, but if she didn’t allow it, you wouldn’t be able to do this to her, Ferit. You did those things because she let you. There’s no one person to blame anymore. You both are to blame.

Ferit turns to her. He touches her hair. Look at you. You talk so certainly now, not like before. I see you’ve learned a lot from me. You know how to get out of a situation. You want to prove you’re right in every circumstance. Did I create another legend with my own hands? Seyran mocks, Oh Ferit, you’re right! You did that! You can do everything. It would be impossible to live in this world without you.

Ferit smiles and plays along, you can’t imagine how much I enjoy listening to you say something so right like this. He laughs. My wife! She knows everything! My dear wife! Seyran seductively responds, come on… get ready… she brushes his shoulder with her fingers, then grabs the lapel of his jacket. She pulls him close and says, otherwise, we’ll be late for dinner.

Seyfer is practically nose to nose. Ferit likes this. Look at this attitude, he says, you’re evil. You’ve become a killer in two days. He’s ready for a kiss, but she pushes him back. Let’s go, Ferit. Ferit does the sexy lip bite. As you command, my dear wife. He calls her a troublemaker (Belaboy!) Ah, Seyro, ah! He heads to the bathroom. Seyro is smiling.

Orhan is working in the study. He looks tired, defeated. Ifakat comes in. Halis Aga came back with the kids and look at you, she says. He asks, what’s wrong with me? You’re hiding here without anyone knowing. Come to your senses, Kazim will arrive. Orhan says he’s fine and he’ll come down soon.

Ifakat says she’s not doing well. I can’t understand what happened. The words we heard because of that girl… Orhan tells her it’s not the time for this, I’ll be down soon. We will talk after Kazim leaves. Ifakat continues, the father is offensive and she is too. How did we get involved with that family? Damn people!

Orhan barks at her to shut up. Calm down. Let’s have dinner in peace. Later, you, Gulgun, and me can talk about this. Besides, remember that Ferit is home. He shouldn’t see us alone. Please go downstairs and leave me alone. Ifakat accuses him of drinking. It’s noticeable. And Ağa is here… how could you? Orhan explodes, what have I done, Ifakat?! Tell me, what have I done? As if I have to answer to you!

Ifakat warns him to control himself and watch his tone. Orhan is furious. Control myself how! What are you talking about? I have a thousand problems! How should I treat you? She fans the flames— do you miss your past? Are you jealous of Ferit? Don’t tell me you are like this at work. He shouts, this doesn’t concern you, Ifakat! Are you here to walk all over me like my father? That won’t happen. It’s done. I’m done with this. She tells him he is saying things he'll regret, and he will pay.

golden
#64 part 3

Orhan says he doesn’t regret anything he’s said so far. But he regrets what he’s done. I’m paying for it, he says, I’m losing my son in every way. I’m paying for it. Ifakat asks, do you regret us? Our relationship? He shouts—shut up! Ferit’s coming down to dinner through this hallway and you’re saying this? You know something? We’ve had our time… but it’s over now. Completely. Our minds will be at ease. Orhan faces the window. Ifakat cries silent tears. She goes to her room and has a meltdown.

Kazim has arrived and he asks where Seyran is. Gulgun says they will be down soon. Fuat notes that Kazim seems relaxed today. What can I do, Kazim replies, I went to the other side and came back. One begins to question his life in moments like this. You can’t tell a friend from an enemy, can you? Gulgun says, Kazim bey, I think you can trust your family completely. Kazim hopes so.

Seyfer come downstairs. Seyran asks Kazim, how are you? I’m good, he replies, I’m grateful to your mother. Without her, your aunt and I would be dead. Ferit says, I’m sure Aunt Hattuc will outlive all of us. Kazim answers, she’s neither strong nor young anymore. She doesn’t know what she says. Today she smiles at you and then tomorrow, she talks behind your back. Ferit laughs and says, she never smiles at me anyway.

Latif enters and says Halis is coming. Asuman asks about Ifakat and Latif says she has a migraine. He told her to rest. Kazim takes note—the great Ifakat Hanim takes orders from you? I underestimated you. Estağfirullah, Latif replies, Halis Ağam wanted it so. Orhan comments, Kazim Bey, my father decides everything now. Kazim puts his hand on Orhan’s shoulder and says, you’re not yourself either. I can tell. Fuat mentions that Orhan went to the dentist today, maybe there are side effects.

Everyone heads to the table. Kazim asks Ferit to help him walk and then keeps him aside. I have to tell you something, but it’s a surprise. Don’t you dare ruin it. Ferit asks, a surprise? We don’t hear the surprise.

At dinner, Halis asks Kazim why he came alone. My aunt is sick, Kazim replies, I felt obligated so I came alone. The sisters look surprised. Gulgun offers get well wishes and asks what is wrong. Kazim blurts—she’s gone senile. [note: Turkish translation said “depressed”. The words sound similar, at least to me.] Seyran almost does a spit take. How can you say that, Halis asks, how can you talk about your elder like that? She’s getting old, Kazim replies, should I lie? Ferit is amused.

Kazim continues, she’s not like that all the time, only sometimes. She doesn’t realize it herself. So please don’t tell her. Orhan asks if Hattuc has been to a doctor. What can they do, Kazim answers, a doctor for her, at her age? We have to suffer through it. There’s nothing we can do.

Halis is irritated. He asks, what’s wrong with Hatice Hanim’s age? She’s younger than I am. Kazim replies, she’s rotten from the inside, Ağa. Not everyone is like you, mashallah. I heard you returned to work and took our damat with you. He looks at Ferit—allow me to congratulate you while I’m here. Allah utandirmasin. (May Allah not let you be ashamed). Ferit answers, amen and thanks him. Kazim jokes, are you making tea or answering phone calls? Ferit says he’s working in accounting. Income and expenditures.

Halis tells Kazim he knows a great doctor. It would be good for Hatice Hanim to see him. There are medications and treatments for that. He turns to Seyran, if this was the case, why didn’t you tell me? Seyran says, believe me, I’m just finding out myself.

#64 part 4

Kazim interjects, girl, not even your mother knows. No one knows. Well, we are eating… let’s not spoil the mood. Everyone’s been quiet since I arrived. It’s like something is going on. Orhan? If something is going on, tell me. Orhan says, no, there’s nothing, we’re fine, Kazim Bey. Kazim is glad to hear it. We’ve been through a lot, he says, I hope it’s not been in vain. Ferit speaks up, you shouldn’t worry about that, Kazim Baba, nothing is in vain. He looks at Seyran and winks.

Hattuc is angry. Esme brings her tea. She complains, as if I have an appetite, thanks to your husband! When he comes back, he’ll have to answer for leaving me here and going by himself! I told you, Esme says, he said they had to talk man-to-man. It’s late now. Maybe you should go to bed. Question him in the morning. You are very angry now. Don’t be so hard on him, you know he’s not well.

To hell with that, Hattuc answers, he’s as healthy as a horse. Don’t you think I know him? Who knows what idea is in his head this time? Ah, Kazim, ah! Esme suggests, if you’re so curious about it, why don’t you call Halis Aga and ask him yourself? Hattuc tells her to shut up. Have you been talking about me? If you mention him again and Kazim finds out, I’ll blame you! Esme assures her, no auntie, I won’t tell him, don’t worry. Hattuc decides to go to her room. Esme asks, will you have your tea? Hattuc tells her to drink it.

Edit: Esme finds herself alone. No Kazim, no Hattuc, not even Suna. She takes the tea to the couch, plops herself down and sighs in relaxation. She searches for the TV remote. Where is it? She imitates Kazim—Esme! She laughs and sips her tea.

Seyfer go to their room. Both are on their phones. He asks, who are you texting? She asks the same. I asked first, Ferit says. You can’t question me, she replies, we talked about this. I’m not questioning you, he says, I’m worried about you. Are you going to be like this now?

Seyro gives in. I’m texting my sister. Our aunt called and I wanted to know what happened. Ferit tells her that Kazim is hiding something. He didn’t bring auntie here on purpose. I think they fought at home, so he came. Seyran says, if my dad made my aunt so upset, she must have said something terrible.

Ferit kicks Seyran’s foot. I see you got this from your Aunt Hattuc, didn’t you? Seyran kicks him back—got what? Ferit kicks again, saying mean things. Not thinking about what you say when you get angry. Seyran makes a big pout. Ferit asks, are you upset? What’s wrong? He smiles, is this another trait of yours? Sadness? She replies, no, I just feel sorry for you. He asks why.

Seyran explains, well so much has happened. We slept separately for so long. Then we slept in the same bed without a problem. I thought a little, maybe we can sleep in the same bed from now on. Ferit looks at the bed, then looks at Seyran and says, don’t play with me. I’m sorry, Ferit, she replies, you will sleep on the couch tonight since you still haven’t learned to speak to your wife nicely.

Ferit squirms, Seyran ya, I think you misunderstood me. I only meant the sweet traits of Aunt Hattuc… really. Seyran looks askance, auntie and her sweet personality traits? You are drowning, Ferit. She gets up and heads to the bathroom. Ferit follows, why do you say that? Aunt Hattuc is very sweet. I love her so much. She closes the bathroom door on him. Seyran…… are you joking with me? Aren’t we going to sleep together? I believed you like an idiot and ran after you. Seyran! She smiles as she removes her makeup.

OT

Thanks, Anastasia. Game was thrilling and then NY made a thrilling comeback. We Spurs fans still have some hope, but no more mistakes! These close games are killing me!

#64 part 5

Asuman wakes up in bed and sees that Fuat is not in the room. She calls his phone. The phone is in the room. She sees someone rush past the window. Is it Fuat? She’s alarmed, grabs a robe and heads outside. [She must be thinking Fuat is meeting with Suna.] She hears Suna’s voice—sorry if I made you wait too long. I wanted to be very careful.

Asuman is filled with dread. She peeks around the corner of the house and to her immense relief, Suna is there with Abidin. Abidin tells Suna that it’s no problem. I could wait for hours. I could even wait for months. Asuman walks away with a huge grin.

Suna’s feeling kind of shy and looks away from Abi. He tells her, don’t turn your gaze from me ever again. Our eyes can find each other, if you allow, of course. Suna asks, then… do you think this is possible? Isn’t it, he replies, you tell me. I’m ready to believe it.

Suna takes Abi’s hands. He says, right now you are making me believe in the impossible. She replies, Allah will not let you dream of what is not destined to be… the rest is up to us. It’s up to us, Abi repeats. He kisses her hands. They gaze at each other and then they embrace. [So sweet.]

Asuman comes back to the bedroom and finds Fuat drinking a glass of water. He was wondering where she was. She says she went to see if he was outside. Fuat tells her there was no water in the room, so he went to the kitchen. He asks, are you following me? Asuman says she was inspired by Seyran. That’s how I’ll be now. One mistake and I’ll destroy you. [it’s a bit flirty.] Fuat answers, sometimes there’s a dark cloud over us, but always remember that I love you.

Edit: Fuat picks up Asuman and places her on the bed. She laughs with delight. They’re about to get busy.

Not so lucky Ferit is restless on the couch. Seyran is trying to sleep and she tells him, can you be quiet? Really, Ferit replies, I’m the one who needs to sleep. I’m the one going to work early. So sleep, she says. As if you’d let me, he answers. And what did I do now, she asks. You tricked me, he complains, you said if I didn’t upset you, I’d be sleeping in bed. And now you said I lost my chance. I told the truth, she says. Ferit kicks the blanket off, sits up and gets whiny. Seyran, you also know that it is very difficult to sleep on the couch. You yourself said that we slept together without problems. He points at the bed, why don’t you let me curl up like a little cat?

Seyran is smiling on her pillow. Ferit sees he might be making inroads. He stands up with his pillow. Seyran, ya… She sits up and with a big smile she says, hadi, gel (okay, come). Ferit can’t believe it—gerçekten mi? (really?) Seyran confirms—yes, really, come. Ferit approaches the bed. Seyran, once I get a good nights sleep, I’ll conquer the busness world!

Ferit makes a flying leap into the bed. She exclaims, Ferit! Be careful. The rules still apply here! He says, if we wake up the same as that morning, then there is no problem. She turns to him, what does that mean? Don’t you remember, he asks, you were hugging me when you woke up. Seyran denies it happened. Ferit smiles. He doesn’t insist. Fine, he says, maybe I dreamt it. You must have, she answers. She smiles.

Ferit moves a little closer. Seyran... when do you think we’ll be able to cuddle in bed? You’ll have to work hard for it, she replies, you’ll have to make me believe. Believe what, he asks. That you really love me, she says. Ferit is earnest when he makes his declaration—Seyran…seni seviyorum (I love you). [some editing here.] He runs his thumb over her lips. Her eyes close in response. He moves her hair back behind her ear. Now his hand is on her cheek, and his thumb plays with her lips again. She does not resist any of this.

#64 part 6

Ferit goes in for the kiss. Seyran puts her arm out and pushes herself away at the last second. She gathers her breath. Have you forgotten the rules from the mountain house, she asks and rolls on her side, away from him. Please, Seyran, he begs.

You’ll have to work a lot harder, Ferit Efendi, she tells him. From now on there is no Seyran who can be convinced with two sweet words. This Seyran is a thing of the past. Now go to sleep or return to the couch. But she’s smiling. Unbelievable, Seyran, he says. He touches her hair, then he rolls away from her. Good night, my wife. And you, too, she replies. [This was the end of Turkish ep 21 out of 36 in the first season.]

Phone alarm goes off in the morning, and Seyran is not in bed. Seyran? Ferit gets up and stumbles over to the table to shut it. Seyran? She’s not in the bathroom either.

Seyran is in the kitchen using the blender. The staff is eating breakfast. Sefika is following Seyran around—Seyran Hanim, we could have done this for you. You shouldn’t bother. It’s no bother, Seyro says, I’m just making breakfast for my husband. She’s looking at Yusuf and he’s glaring back. She tells Sefika, you shouldn’t be on your feet so much, go sit down. I’ll feel bad, then I can no longer enter the kitchen.

Latif enters the kitchen and everyone stands. He greets Seyran with a smile. She tells him she’s making breakfast for Ferit. I’m sure Ferit Bey will be very happy, he replies. Latif gets a call from Ferit. He tells Ferit that Seyran has a surprise for him. Ferit wants to know what kind of surprise. Good or bad. I think you’ll like it, Latif answers, she’ll be there soon.

Ferit hangs up and scrolls his phone. Pelo. Delete contact. He decides not to do it. He falls into the bed on Seyran’s side and sniffs her pillow.

Back to the kitchen. Latif notes, not since our late lady of the mansion, may she rest in peace, has anyone done this for their husband. Allah sizden razı olsun, Seyran Hanim (May Allah be pleased with you). Sultan looks disgusted. Seyran thanks Latif. She’s ready to go to the room and tells the staff to enjoy their meal. She apologizes for the mess she made. Sefika gets the door for her.

Sefika says good for Seyran. Gulgun Hanim and Asuman Hanim don’t care if their husbands go to work with empty stomachs, but the little mrs (küçük hanim) does! Latif quickly corrects, from now on, dont call Seyran Hanim “little mrs”. That goes for everyone. Call her Seyran Hanim or Yenge Hanim. Of course this doesnt sit well with Sultan. Latif adds, and don’t gossip in the kitchen.

Sultan tells Latif that Ifakat is not coming down for breakfast. Sefika says she will make a plate for her. Latif says there’s no need. She (Ifakat) will stop doing whatever she wants. I suppose you haven’t heard what Halis Ağa said. I’ll keep this house in order. He says to Sultan—if your lady is sick, she can tell me. None of this bringing breakfast to her room. Everyone will come down to breakfast.

Sefika worries, Latif Bey, please don’t make us go against Ifakat hanim. Latif barks, shut up! Enough! Your tongues have become too long. Sefika Hanim, prepare the weekly menu. I’ll review it when it’s done. If anyone asks for anything extra, I’ll approve it first. Sultan Hanim, Dicle, when you can, go to the cellar and make a shopping list. Yusuf, I already told everyone else and now I’m telling you. Tell me every car that comes in and out of this house. Eat and get to work immediately. Latif leaves and the staff grumbles.

#64 part 7

Ferit is already dressed for work. Seyran comes to the bedroom with his breakfast. He is thrilled. You got up before the sun to make breakfast for your husband. He grabs her arm and tries to pull her close… I could eat you… Seyran wriggles away. Come on, eat Ferit! He says it looks delicious. Ah, Seyran, I really don’t deserve you. I am aware of that, she answers, and you look domesticated. You even got ready without my help.

This is incredible, Ferit says as he savors the meal. Say whatever you want, as long as you give me this. Don’t get used to it, Seyran replies. I decided to put you under a reward and punishment system. He asks why. Because you are an aggressive child, she answers. From now on, I’ll reward or punish you depending on what you do.

Edits: Ferit laughs. Oh, how you love me so much. Oh, how you woke up early this morning and did this for me. Tell me, love is something beautiful, don’t you agree? Tell me, is this the first time you have experienced these feelings? I am very interested. Seyran replies, a couple of hours ago, you looked into my eyes and confessed your love for me. What happened? She imitates his confession mockingly.

Ferit laughs again. What is this? I take responsibility for my words, can you take the example? Tell me openly that you love me, too, that you love me no matter what. What’s wrong with that?

Seyran replies, it’s not that easy to say things like that. Understand? Those are very valuable and important words. You’re used to saying things like this. Don’t expect me to do that. You must deserve it.

What more can I do to deserve it, Ferit asks. I shielded your father, threw myself in front of the bullets. What else can I do? Who would do such a thing in my place? Nobody. It’s good that we know how much you love me. I’ll wait. You’ll say it. She tells him he’ll have to wait for a long time.

Ferit is really enjoying his breakfast. He holds a spoonful out for her to taste. Mmmm, she says it really is delicious. Come here, he tells her, you deserve a kiss! Ellerine sağlik! He moves in close. She holds him off—no please, or else you’ll be punished. He replies, Seyran ya, I ate my breakfast, reward me! She allows a kiss on the cheek. He takes the dish and leaves the room.

Gulgun helps Orhan into his jacket. She tells him not to worry. Your father will be gone in a couple of weeks. We’ll suffer in the meantime, he replies. What does that mean, she asks, Iin any case, he still has the last sign off. Orhan looks worried. Gulgun looks concerned. She asks, if you’re hiding something, tell me now.

And we are out.

Dondi, thank you so much. I especially appreciate the edited scenes you give us. I've watched all of this season as of a half hour ago. I went to sleep at 11 and when I woke up a few hours later I had to finish it. All I can say is telemundo better give us the rest as I have had no succes finding it online. I fear they will not show the next 2 seasons like they left us hanging after season 2 of Bahar.

It's nice seeing ifakat taken down a notch in the family hierarchy. It is also nice seeing Fuat and Asuman working things out.

Turkish culture is so different from ours. The way women are treated reminds me of medieval times (What I've gleaned from reading historical romances.) I still have no idea how Hattis managed to remain single. The cycle of abuse never seems to be broken.

OT

I'm officially a dizi convert now. I need to find a good sorce to watch prior shows. Daily motion has a terrible search feature.if you can recommend other dizis, preferably light on the killings, that can be found on YouTube or wherever, I'm open to suggestions. Fatmagul and KPA were great..!

Anastasia & Babachita: That was DEVASTATING to watch last night. However, I am still riding & dying with the Spurs 100 percent.

OT

It was definitely devastating, Steve. What a roller coaster ride! They are very young. I remember when they went down many years ago and Manu Ginobili said they’d be back. And they won the following year. IIRC, that is.

They might still manage it yet. Always Spurs fans here.

However, the Knicks are definitely impressive! What a game!

OT dizis

Kat, I really enjoy good dizis. The Mexican ones have their own strengths, too. One favorite of mine with an unusual plot is Amar a Muerte.

As far as dizis, I have enjoyed several:

Mujer, very long but addictive.
La familia
Secretos de Sangre

Hija del Embajador, even though it takes a major detour in the later episodes. I just enjoyed the interaction of the stars, especially the little kid. I learned about olives, weddings, and more about Turkish rural culture. The Zeybek dance in episode one is memorable.

Istanbullu Gelin. It was also done as a Mexican one, which was quite good. But I like the Turkish one best. Written by a psychiatrist, it seemed to have a different focus than many. It’s set in Bursa. I always learn so much from the dizis. I have seen this offered recently with the title Amor Eterno. That is also the title of another dizi, excellent with a very controversial ending. So, be sure it’s the Amor Eterno (Instanbullu Gelin) with with Asli Enver as the female star.

We watched Hercai, set in Mardin (IIRC). It’s quite a story but very long. I learned lots about that part of Turkiye.

You’ve already got kpa and Fatmagul, really great tales.

Babachita

OT

Thanks Babachita. I'll make note of your suggestions. I did watch la familia with the caray, caray community and enjoyed it. I looked for hija del embajador at one point and didn't find it. I'll have to look again. The Telemundo app has Turkish series listed but there aren't a lot offered currently.

I still say they better show the next 2 seasons of golden, but by putting it in the 12:30 a.m. slot not sure how many actually watched to develop a following. The end of season one was definitely a cliffhanger.

OT

That was a definite cliffhanger. I hope they do bring it back but maybe we’ll figure out another way.

I think Hija is on youtube. Seferin Kizi is the Turkish name. I think the Spanish dubbing is available there.

I liked Binbir Gece, las Mil y una Noche. It was shown not too long ago on TM, I think. It’s on youtube. There may have been a patio for this.

Babachita

63 and 64 were great reads! Thank you! What a tale!!!

I’m working on 65. Will be up Thursday or Friday.

Kat, dailymotion has Turkish episodes with English subs if you search for "Golden Boy". Not sure if all 101 eps are there. Translations are not that great but you get the idea. The ads are frustrating. I download the eps so I don't get the ads.

So, they stopped at the end of season one? Did they write "Fin" or "to be continued"? We had to wait 3 months for season two to start in Türkiye!

golden

It was a definite “Fin.”

Babachita

Golden

If that was the end of the series I would say worst ending ever! Not a single storyline was explained to my satisfaction. I'll see if I can find it under daily motion.

OT Dizi

Babachita gave good recommendations for dizi viewing.

I’ll second watching Secretos de Sangre/Yargı. We only got 2 seasons on Telemundo. It has a third season, too.

Hija is on YouTube. I did the recaps for it when it aired on Univision and Unimas.

IIRC, Binbir Gece was on Unimas. I don’t know if it was recapped. Supposedly it’s the dizi that started the worldwide popularity of Turkish series.

Magnificent Century/Muhteşem Yüzyıl was truly magnificent. One of my all-time favorites. It’s a historical epic about the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent. Beware: it’s 139 Turkish episodes long. It’s on YouTube with English subtitles. They played a highly edited version of the first season on Telemundo several years ago as “El Sultan”.

If you want to try a lighter Turkish “summer series”, aka rom-com, I’ll recommend Dolunay/Full Moon as a starter. It’s only 26 Turkish episodes. I think the eps are still on Dailymotion with English subtitles. And the actor who played Asuman in Yali Capkini has a supporting role.

OT dizi

Magnificent Century is very good! I can’t believe I have forgotten some of these. Dolunay sounds promising. Thank you Dondi, as always!!!
