TAN CERCA DE TI, NACE EL AMOR #39
Notes from the Couch The "Too Much Talking !!" episode
1.Lorena tries to help Eleazar eat as he recovers from the beating. He is upset that the only person who congratulated him and was happy about his win was his father. Even Vale treated him like garbage. Lorena quickly joins the group of those who are against him when she acknowledges that he won but for the wrong reasons. He didn't follow the strategy. He didn't do his job. Eleazar asks her to leave just as Rebe coms in to congratulate him for being the champion that he is. Vale quickly follows and sees Eleazar and Rebe kissing.
2. Diego breaks the magical moment between Joaquín and Vero in the kitchen when he cones looking for a certain shirt. He follows Vero into the laundry room. He accuses her of telling Joaquín about her seeing him kissing Majo. She asks him to treat her with the same respect that she shows him and lets him know that his secret is safe with her. He smiles and gives her a hug.
3. Eleazar want to know what Vale is doing thereat his house. She heard what happened to so him so she came to see how he was doing. Now she sees he is feeling much better (referring to Rebe who is hanging all over him). Claudia arrives and asks how he is doing. Rebe says he will be like new soon with her kisses. Vale leaves He tells Claudia not to worry about him.
4. Nayeli goes over to Hugo's with some taquitos. He cannot quit thinking about the race. She tells him for her, he will always be the champion. She kisses him. He tells her he isn't in the mood because of the race or the beers he had. She tells him to forget everything. She wants him to know much she loves him and starts to kiss him. He lets himself be convinced.
5. Kassandra asks her mother what she sees in that yokel (Aurelio) Isaura sees him as a gallant gentleman from the old days. He is healthy and doesn't have an ailment but he is married. He lied and told her he was a widower. His wife appeared later and told her he was married. That was a shock but this certainly wouldn't be the first marriage she has broken up and won't be the last. Yes, she will be seeing him again. Kassandra cannot believe it.
6. Consuelo comes to see Aurelio. She asks him how his business at the pension office went. He says it went very well. He is not about to lose his pension after so many years of working. She agree and says his "pension" seems to have long legs, also artificial finger nails and a good and taught face. She also saw that the "pension" pays for supper in expensive restaurants. She saw it all with her very own eyes. Aurelio asks if he followed her. She reminds him that he told her that he hadn't gotten over the death of her sister and wasn't going out with anyone. Why did he lie?
7. Vero is back from the laundry room and ready to go home. Joaquín wants to know what she said to Diego. He had a smile on his face. She answers that she only told him what was in her heart. Joaquín says he has a lot to learn fro her. She disagrees and sees him more connected to the kids than ever. He answers that he never thought he would be in charge of four kids. She says never did she. He thinks they are both getting an accelerated course in raising these kids. She gives him an A+. He gives her an A++. They laugh and stare into each other's eyes.
Notes from the Couch The "Too Much Talking !!" episode

She thinks he should be ashamed letting a woman pay the bill. He asks why she is judging him. She says it isn't judgement but pain. Doesn't he realize that he is looking to belong in a place he doesn't? Nico starts to listen in. Aurelio asks where does he belong. She answers in a more honest place with people who really know him, who care for him in spite of all of his errors, who still have faith in him and who can help him mend the errors of his ways. He angrily states that he is not sorry for anything he has done and that he always did what he thought was right. She warns him that the day will come when he will realize that he distanced himself from the very people who really cared for him.
9. Vero decides it is time to leave but Joaquín talks her into staying overnight at the house since it is so late. He asks her to stay as a favor for him. He will be calmer that way, They cannot stop smiling.

Aurelio says she is an upper class woman. Her name is Isaura. They became friends and she has money to spare. She invited HIM for supper. What is wrong with that? He explains what what his life was like. For years he was holed up in an office and never saw the light of day, There were the bosses, the schedules and Xmas bonuses that didn't even come close to paying for the turkey. His life passed him by while he supported his family. Nico asks "the poor little thing" if he was sorry for what he did. Aurelio says of course not but now he finds himself retired, having buried his wife, with one of his daughters hating him and he living with his brother the priest. Now he want to experience the life he never had. Nico tells him the company he longs for is named Consuelo and he is letting her go because he won't allow himself feel his feelings.
12. Consuelo waits up for Yaneli to come home. It turns out she had her "first time " with Hugo and is really in love. He takes care of her and values her. Her mother tells her she has to take care of herself and her heart. Love is beautiful but it hurts very badly when it is not returned.
13. Kassandra tells Isaura a that Joaquín asked her to come live with him again. She is sure they will get married.
14. The next day, Diego texts Majo at work. Vero will not say a word. Claudia is happy to have her back working with her. She is still having a bad time with her mother. She feels so alone since she broke up with Diego. Majo says she can count on her.
15. Iván greet Romina in the cafe at work over a cup of coffee. She says she is glad he is back. He missed her. She admits she missed him, too.

16. Kassandra pops up at the house where she finds Joaquín making breakfast. She asks when Vero is coming. He says she isn't. She stayed over and is there already. Vero comes in to take over breakfast. Kassandra grabs her and makes a big deal of them teaming up to be partners in the house to help the kids and Joaquín. Kassandra thinks they could be great friends. Vero tries to smile.
17. Iván is already making Romina laugh. She remembers Marcos telling her he would like her to stay away from Iván and she makes up an excuse to leave. She has to run an errand. He insists on being her driver. She ends up laughing
18. Kassandra extends her hand to Vero to shake on their new collaboration. Joaquín is pleased and thanks Kassandra. Vero is not quite so pleased but plays the role she has been given.
19. Vale touches base with Diego telling him how sad Claudia is because of him. He is not interested in hearing about her. She is not her problem.
20. Lorena talks to Eleazar abut his love life. He says he likes Rebe a lot. She is cool. Lorena tells him that his eyes look so very different when he is with Vale. He says what he had with her is dead and gone. She tells him to listen to his heart. He loves his mom.She loves him, too.
21. Nico is doing early morning mass. Bruno, Consuelo's son, is the altar boy and is collecting donations. He steals some of the donations for a new soccer ball,. He asks St. Anthony for his help.
22. Kassandra finds out that Claudia, Iván, Olga and Majo are no longer staying at the house. She doesn't miss a beat and asks Joaquín if she can move back in since he said she could when things calmed down. He formally welcomes her. Vero is not pleased. Kassandra kisses Joaquín. He is uncomfortable.
23. Vale is not happy that Kassandra is moving back in and cannot see her making her godfather happy. Vero says they look happy. Vale thinks they must be in love because her godfather keeps giving Kassandra more chances after all the problems they have had. Vale remarks that sometimes you can love somebody with your whole heart but it isn't enough. Vero asks if Eleazar did something. Vale tells her about how she thought he was this noble and sincere guy but at the race he showed himself to be an opportunist. He won but lost himself. She cannot waste time thinking about him. Vale surprises her with a hug. Vale says she need that. She was so happy to meet her daughter.
24.Hugo talks to Carmen. He seems hungover and also feeling bad about the race. Carmen gives him a sports drink. She is aware of what happened at the race. She tells him to trust Joaquín. He will take care of it. She asks about his girlfriend. He talks about Nayeli who is so pretty with a gigantic heart. She is worth her weight in gold. Carmen asks what happened with Vale. He says it was never going to work out because she was always going to see him as her best FRIEND. He is trying to move on with Nayeli. He also tells her that Nayeli's mother is their "Consuelo." Carmen is surprised.
25. Vale tells Vero that her daughter is the best. She has her own light. Vero agrees. Her daughter is beautiful and is her motivation to get up and go to work every day. Having her daughter was the most beautiful thing that has happened to her in her life. Vale is a little jealous that Nayeli has a mother like her. Vero starts to cry out of emotion.
Hugo has come to see Vale but hears them talking so he waits outside the door. Vale tells Vero that she felt strange when she found out that Hugo was Nayeli's novio. She would love to see them happy but admits she made a mistake with Hugo. If she could turn back time, she would give him a real chance with her which she didn't. Instead, she chose badly. She chose Eleazar. She has to get Eleazar out of her heart. What they had is over forever.

Excellent Jarifa. I savored every sweet and savory syllable. You are exactly right in that there was too much chatter, emotional currents flowed with no dam to stem the tide, especially distraught Consuelo.I can't believe Vale is ruing not giving Hugo a chance. She never felt anything for him but genuine friendship. I hope Hugo is worthy of Yaneli's love and realizes Vale is still pining over Eleazar. Alas I fear the worst.
I really thought Isaura had her act together. Now she is chasing a loser and one she thinks is married at that. I'm completely flummoxed as to how "yokel" (perfect) Aurelio inspired such an impassioned speech from Comsuelo. He is hard hearted, unforgiving and completely unworthy.
"Vero is not quite so pleased but plays the role she has been given" was
as spot on. Kass is obviously more crafty than mama. If you can't beat them...
Joaquin and Vero are growing closer daily. I suspect there is little Kass can do about it. Romina and Ivan's little flirtation is getting a bit stale. Jarifa thank you for another marvelous recap.

I enjoyed your notes from the couch, thanks so much your your daily recaps.
I was very surprised that Consuelo took Nayeli’s news so calmly. I would have flipped out if my daughter had calmly told me that news as a teenager. Consuelo and Nayeli must have a great relationship, that’s not something most teenagers would share. But now we see Hugo is with her because he gave up on Vale, but now he overhears Vale and I think hemay decide to try again with Vale!
I thought the whole little speech Kassandra gave to Vero was just phoned. I don’t see her being part of a team with Vale and Joaquin. But Joaquin was impressed. Although his saying yes, welcome, to her moving back in was less than enthusiastic. I could see him being lead into marriage with Kassandra with no enthusiasm. Just doing what Kassandra wants.
The beating hasn’t improved Eleazar’s attitude. He’ll be nice to his dad and Reba because they tell him he’s the champion and rude to everyone else. I wonder if his dad is going to ask him to throw a race eventually.
Susan, I agree with you, a bunch of people trying to pair up with people that are either not interested or not available. And then Aurelio has two woman interested in him!

Notes from the Couch
SURPRISE!
Carmen asks Vero to bring some coffee into the living room for for Iván who is seated there with her sister. It seems that her sister really did have papers to bring to the house for Kassandra. Vero and Romina are both shocked. Iván introduces them. They pretend not to know each other. Romina looks like she is in shock. Kassandra finally arrives and Romina is able to hand over the papers. Kassandra asks what Iván is doing there. He explains that he is on special assignment as Romina's driver. Kassandra concludes he will do anything to get out of doing work. He smiles.
As Romina and Iván sit at the table as Kassandra goes over the papers, Romina offers to to go into the kitchen to get him some coffee and herself some water.
Romina lets Vero have it. She knows what she is doing and will not permit it.
She thinks that Vero is there undercover investigating the family for Flores and his lousy magazine and its yellow journalism. She cannot believe she is doing that after what the family has gone through. Vero has always been the dignified, honest, professional one who never could be bought, What happened to her? Vero says this is an investigation. It is only for an article. That does nothing to convince Romina. She thinks there is something wrong with Vero, She isn't like this. She calls Vero disgusting. Vero warns her that she can disagree with what she does but she will not allow her to insult her. Carmen comes in and everything is suddenly fine. Vero will get the coffee and water.
Back at the company, Iván asks Romina what is wrong. She says she is only tired. She asks if he likes that woman "Consuelo". He answers that yes he does. She is nice and seems to be a good person. Iván asks if she is jealous of the friendship he has with her. She starts to laugh asking him to not be ridiculous.
He says at least he made her laugh. Marcos observes them laughing but he isn't.
VALE LONGS TO RACE
Hugo offers to train Vale but insists that they do it the right way and talk to her godfather. They meet with Joaquín in his office and his answer is a resounding NO! Vale goes beserk. Women are already excelling in the sport. She is sure he would give her BROTHER Diego the go-ahead. He says that her sex has nothing to do with it. He explains that he has seen her wipe out on the track, put herself at risk and even take Hugo's place in a race. She broke the regulations and put them all at risk. They could have lost everything. She stomps and jumps like a little kid having a tantrum and says it was a mistake!!! Racing is in her blood. She only is asking for a chance. He makes it clear this is not a punishment but his way of protecting her. She is impulsive and this sport doesn't allow for mistakes. She throws in his face that having a rider like Eleazar evidently is okay by him. He is somebody who throws strategy out the window and does what he feels like. He tells her not to confuse the issues. Eleazar will have to answer for his own acts. He reminds her she is still a minor and since he is her guardian, she will respect his decisions. What hurts her the most is that he is the one who is cutting her wings because he always was he one who made her feel that she could do whatever she wanted to. She tells him it is only a matter of months before she turns 18 and when she does, she will be racing with or without his permission. Racing is her passion, her vocation, her life. She leaves. On his way out, Hugo adds that sometimes not supporting a person is the way you lose them.
Vale tells Hugo it was her mistake. She thought Joaquín would see her as a racer first and not as his goddaughter or a little girl. Hugo says that he sees her as a racer. BRUNO GETS CAUGHT
Nayeli is dropping Bruno off at school. On the way, he complains about having to get up at 5:00 to be at mass at 6:00. Then he has to run to school. He moans about his mother not buying him a soccer ball. Nayeli is sure that will come when his grades are better. After Nayeli drops him off, he sneaks out.
His mother drags him back home later in the day. A neighbor called her that he was playing with a soccer ball on an empty lot and broke her window. It turns out that he has been suspended from school and never told her. The question is: where did he get the money to buy a new soccer ball? Bruno says he won it. Consuelo knows he is lying. He insists he isn't. She is taking the ball away from him. He lost his credit for the school year being expelled. Since he isn't in school, he will be working. He doesn't like that. Consuelo says they do not support the lazy. Nayeli agrees. Their mother breaks her back very day to support them and that is how he pays her back??? He says he plans on being a professional football player. Then he will buy her a mansion so she can live like a queen. Consuelo thinks that is a very pretty dream but since he still isn't signing autographs as a professional soccer player, he will be working. He will not be going back to school this year but next year he will be going to secondary school which he will be finishing. He agrees he will be working but is not interested in carrying heavy things and wants to be paid well. Consuelo and Nayeli laugh. Consuelo informs him he will work at whatever work is available and he will not be getting his ball back until he proves he is a responsible "little man."
Consuelo prays to the Virgin and cries.. She doesn't know what mistake she made with her boy. Aurelio sees her and asks if something is wrong. No, she doesn't want to talk to him. Sometime one's heart just gets tired. He asks if she is upset over what they said to each other. She says if it were only that! She compares Aurelio to be one of those sorrows that one never gets over but learns how to live with. She walks away.
Consuelo tells Vero about the Bruno situation. She has done the best she can. Vero says it isn't her fault. Vero approves her plan and adds that she should get a tutor for Bruno to get him caught up. Vero herself offers to review his subjects with him. Vero tells Consuelo that Romina found her out.
OLGA INVESTIGATES IN HER OWN WAY
Olga sees Marcos in the snack bar and joins him. He asks if she is going back to Spain. It turns out she would really like to stay and get her family back but that would mean that she has to get Iván back. The real reason to talk to Marcos is to find out if he knows if Iván is seeing anyone. He has no idea what that loose cannon is doing. They are not friends. They do not hang out together. She has a feeling that there is somebody else. She asks Marcos to pretend that he is Iván and she is there when he comes home. She almost shoves her breasts in his face as she asks him how could he resist her seduction. Well, Iván has resisted and that is how she knows there is somebody else. What is more she thinks that whoever the woman is she must be very important to him. Marcos starts to ponder that comment.

Alexa is still befriending Meli at school. They combine Meli's sandwich with Alexa's chips to make a more interesting lunch. Alexa asks if she believes her parents were abducted by a UFO. Meli says no. They died in an accident. She misses her mother every day. Alexa says she doesn't see her mother much. She married somebody else and had some kids with him. She calls sometimes. Meli extends her hand and Alexa grabs it and smiles. Alexa's friends make fun of her for for hanging around with Meli. She explains that is the only way she can go to the KPop concert. When that happens, she will be done with Meli.
DIEGO ACTS NORMAL
Joaquín brings Diego up to date. He tells him that his presentation was key. He thanks him for his good work. They gained two new sponsors and have three more companies that want to be included on their customer list. Diego thinks their win at the race also helped a lot. .Navarros-Cross is at the top of he national rankings. Joaquín says they are all part of a solid team. Diego makes a point of saying he is only trying to protect his family's company and asks about the debt. Joaquín explains that the Miami bank gave him a payment schedule. He is paying off the debt with his own funds as he agreed to do so Diego doesn't have to worry. Joaquín then brings up his break up with Claudia. Diego says he is feeling fine. Joaquín wants to give him some advice using tales of his own past loves of his youth but Diego gets bored quickly and when Majo texts him, he is out of there. Joaquín concludes that he and Diego did advance in their relationship. There were no arguments this time.
Everything Else
-Majo and Diego are getting hot and heavy. He doesn't just care for her, he loves her. For the first time after his parents' death, he is happy.
-Vero tells Carmen she has to run home but really goes to drop off some notes for Flores. She gets her friend Lupita to tell Flores that she came in just after he left and left just before he came back.
-Joaquín calls Eleazar to check on him. He tells him to take the necessary time to heal. Eleazar smiles and says he hopes to be able to return to the track soon.
-Claudia's period is late. She hopes it is due to the stress she has been under.
She and her mother argue at the snack bar. Lorena leaves to check on Eleazar. Majo tries to tell Claudia she is not being fair to her mother. Claudia says she is!.
-Facundo has bought Eleazar a new motorcycle. Facundo says all he has to do is recuperate, train and win again. Lorena is quick to remind him that he still needs to rest and heal up. Lorena accuses Facundo of pressuring Eleazar. He thinks he is motivating him. He warns her not to meddle in his relationship with his son. She reminds him that he is her son, too, and she meddle whenever it is needed. She will be there to let him know that he can say NO to the life that Facundo is offering him. Some people do not want to compete but only want to be happy.
-After Romina and Iván leave, Kassandra encourages Vero go home early and rest. She is giving her permission. She wants to be alone with Joaquín without any interruptions or the vacuum in the background. Vero agrees and wishes her a good afternoon. Kassandra smiles.

I understand her disappointment but she is thisclose to being 18 (as she herself noted). Freedom is within sight. That said she was right to call Joaquin as the main reason he won't allow her to wait IS because she is a girl. I did appreciate what Hugo said to Joaquin that he may lose her.

Thanks Jarifa, you do such a great job of retelling all the events from the night before. Sometimes it jogs my memory and sometimes I learn something new. I didn’t realize Claudia was late. With her ranting that she wasn’t going to end up like her mom, I can see her eating her words. I’m pretty neutral on my feelings for Diego but I do feel sorry for him. He wasted so much time not completely breaking up with Claudia and now that he finally did it and is happy this happens. I never thought about Claudia getting pregnant, I was worried about Nayeli!

Diana, ITA that Joaquín doesn't want to let Vale race because she is a girl. I also feel that he is constantly second guessing himself trying to imagine what Luis would have done. Susan, yes, Olga does sound like she is from Spain but they have really exaggerated her speech to make her obnoxious. Yes, it seems that the real Consuelo is a maid and has supported Nayeli and Bruno on her own. She doesn't believe that Bruno won the ball in a contest but doesn't know that he stole the money from the church contribution plate either. You and me both were hoping that these kids were just "cuddling". It looks like it is time for a pregnancy test for Claudia to verify if she is or if she isn't.
