OMG KAT THEY SHOT A HORSE???
I’m afraid I will not be continuing my short stay in Alternate Tucson. I was away for the long weekend and discovered upon my return that I did not particularly want to know what the boys had been doing.
I will set out for wine country on Monday and check out what’s happening on SABOR. See you there?
Notes from the Couch The action never stops edition!
1. In the home office, Vale tells Mario that this is her father Luis' office, her ONLY father's office. He agrees that a father takes care of you, brings you up and is there everyday giving you love. He explains that he was unable to give her any of that because he didn't even know that she existed. She asks how long has he known about her. He answers a few weeks after he found Vero again. She concludes that is why his attitude about her racing changed from one day to the next. He tells her she is an excellent racer. She won her position. She brings up him returning the shares that Nuria sold to his wife and wonders if he would have done the same thing if he didn't know the truth. He makes it clear that he is not there to talk about himself but about the family he, she, and Vero could be.
2. Carmen and Joaquín talk about Mario being there and Vale wanting to talk to him. Carmen says it is a very important time for Vale and wrong or not, Vero and Mario are her parents. He adds that Vero loves Vale more than anything and he hopes that someday, Vale can forgive her and just listen to her with an open heart. Nuria arrives.
3. Nuria and Joaquín speak alone. She is very embarrassed and doesn't know what she was thinking. He considers that and then angrily asks how she could be so irresponsible, so selfish and so dangerous to sell Kassandra the inheritance that Luis left for his children. He also knows it wasn't a simple vacation. She was planning to take them out of the country and never return. He slams the documents that Mario brought down on the table. If Mario hadn't stopped the sale, at this very moment, Dani, Diego, Meli and Vale would would be thousands of kilometers away without family, without support, and with absolutely nothing.
4. Vale is livid asking if he is really there to talk about Vero or is it Consuelo. She doesn't even know what to call her. He tells her she knows her name. She sarcastically answers yes it is Verónica Arellano the liar, the conwoman who came into this house and pretended to be somebody else. Is that who they are talking about??? Mario says they are talking about her mother who loves her so much that she was capable of doing all of that to be at her side. Vale insists that she lied to them all. She never loved her. The only reason she came around was because she found out that she was adopted by a family with money and that her parents had died. Mario feels like he is listening to Kassandra. He asks if that is what Kassandra put in her head. Vale says she opened her eyes so she wouldn't be manipulated. He informs her that if there is anybody who is capable of lying, betraying or manipulating anything or anyone for money, it is Kassandra. He knows because he made the biggest mistake of his life by marrying her. That is why he has already asked her for a divorce. If Kassandra came to talk to her it wasn't to help her or open her eyes, it was to take revenge, to hurt her, to destroy Vero and to wound him.
5. Lupita notices that Vero is writing something. Vero is not sharing it because it is a personal project. It is barely a rough draft. Vero is enthusiastic about Lupita's proposal but she is going through a rough time in her life and doesn't know if she would be able to handle a responsibility of that magnitude right now. Lupita says to take her time and give her a call in a few days so they can talk. If she accepts, she will have what she has always wanted: complete editorial freedom. Her authentic voice would be heard. Vero thanks her. Lupita tells her that no matter what she is going through, she is still a great journalist. She better not forget that. Vero smiles.
6. Joaquín asks Nuria how she ever thought of doing what she did. She explains that they are her nieces and nephew. They are all she has left from her brother and sister-in-law. She was scared with him deciding to fight her for their guardianship to take them from her. Joaquín says that he has done everything up front. He asks if she has done the same. Does she thinks it was responsible to offer four kids, who are dependent on her, a vacation so she could disappear with them? Nuria starts to cry. She says no. He asks her to think for once about what is important and he best for them, not for herself but for them. He informs her that he has enough extenuating circumstances to win the guardianship judgment. He hopes that for the children's sake, this doesn't end up being a long and painful process. He asks that she be honest with she herself. He tells her to realize that she is not the right person to take care of the kids. In tears, she says she does what she can but it hasn't been easy. He says that is exactly why they have to make a decision. She feels like she owes it to Luis to take care of the kids. Joaquín says she owes Luis nothing and she will always have a special place with the kids. He asks her to act from her heart and not her loneliness. She doesn't have the emotional balance to care for them
7. Mario tells Vale not to believe what Kassandra said or even what he has said. He wants her to believe in her own experiences and what she felt. You cannot fake real love. He knows Vero. He swears on his life that Vero is not greedy or into manipulation and calculation. She is only a woman desperate to love her daughter and to be near her no matter what it takes. He tells her to ask herself if she ever felt like Vero wanted anything from her. Vale thinks back on happy times with Vero. The only thing that Vero did was to love her without asking for anything in return. He asks her to think about everything he has told her. He tells her that whatever she decides, he and Vero will respect her. He will not bother her again but he will always be waiting for her. He leaves. She sobs.
8. Iván takes Romina home. She thanks him. She needed to have him close to her. He answers that he will always be there. He will be where she is. They love each other. They kiss. Marcos comes by to see Romina and sees them kissing. He gets upset and leaves.
9. Dani tells Vale that she doesn't agree with how she feels like Vero. She thinks that Vero really loves them. She doesn't like what Vero did at all but she cannot hate her. Meli cannot hate her either and misses her a lot. She knows that Vale knows that she wanted Vero to be their mother. She adds that Vale is very lucky that Vero is her real mother. Vale is sad but silent.
DAYS LATER
10. We hear Vero saying that time has gone by and her daughter has not come looking for her. We see Vale preparing to race. Vero wants to talk to her, see her but understands that this distance between them is the best for Vale. She herself is calmer but the pain is still there. She realizes now how enormous her lie was and asks herself if someday Vale will be able to forgive her. She doesn't know if she will be able to forgive herself.
11. We see the magazine offices as Vale tells us so many days have gone by in silence, days in which she has felt that the whole world has fallen on top of her. Even with all of this, she is still standing because Joaquín didn't let her fall. We see Joaquín seated in the waiting area of the magazine offices. His love is the only place where she still finds calmness, where she can breathe although her heart is still broken.
12. Vero hands the story of her life to Lupita who is impressed. Vero says it was the only thing that kept her from going crazy: writing about all she went through to find Vale, her daughter. Lupita says it could be a great book and help other women. Vero didn't write it to publish it. It was a her way of letting it all out. She needed to understand what to do and how to go on. Lupita gets it but when she changes her mind, she can put her in touch with the best editor that she knows. Vero thanks her. Lupita asks her for her answer to the job proposal. Vero says YES! Lupita announces that Vero is back! They hug.
13. Majo has gone to meet with the Countess. The Countess says she isn't asking Majo to take sides but only to talk to her father. Majo has to refuse to get involved in her father's personal life. He has chosen Romina. He has loved her for along time and is happy with her. Majo says she herself has just broken up with Diego and yes, she still loves him but sometimes, love isn't enough. Sometimes, letting go is the healthiest thing to do. The Countess smiles, thanks her and says she is going to leave Mexico. There is nothing to keep her there. There is a knock at the door. Majo says it must be for her. She picks up her purse and is ready to go. It is Renán. The Countess and Majo hug goodbye. Majo and Renán leave.
14. It is the day of he race. Aurelio is waiting for Vale at her motorcycle.
15. Vero gives Joaquín the good news at the magazine office. She is the new co-director of the magazine. He hugs and congratulates her. He thinks it is time that she is who she is again, that she has returned to her life, her voice, her talent. She says it doesn't mean anything without Vale. She would give it all up for her. He reminds her that she hasn't lost yet. Vale needs to heal. The day will come when she will seek her out. The love she gave her isn't going to disappear so quickly. Vero hopes he is right. He calls her a warrior and and a mother. Mothers always find the road back to their childrens' hearts. Always. He hugs her.
16. Aurelio address Vale as his "granddaughter the racer." Vale makes it clear that this is her first race as a professional. She needs to practice. He says he didn't come to bother her. He asks "his daughter" how she is doing. She tells him not to address her like that. She is nothing to him. He agrees that she is right. As he starts to tear up, he says he is nobody to tell her anything. He doesn't even deserve her looking at him but he does want to tell her something she hasn't asked him for. He apologizes for what he did, for what he didn't do, everything that happened before she was born never knowing he would come to see her up close like this. He doesn't want to leave this world without saying he is sorry and above all, he loves her. Although she doesn't know him and doesn't want to see him ever again, he loves her. If she ever wants to hear his story, he will be there without expecting anything in return. He only wants her to know the whole truth so she can see her mother with her own eyes. He will not be at peace until she is back in her mother's arms. He wishes her luck on her race, turns and leaves. She calls after him being respectful calling him "don" Aurelio. She wants to hear the story. She wants to know the truth. He nods.
17. Down in the lobby, Renán asks how things are going with Diego since they have broken up. She says that she is pretending to be pleasant even though she isn't feeling that way inside. Renán has another therapy appointment today. She wants to go with him. He says since he has started therapy again, he is feeling better. He owes it all to her and he doesn't know how to thank her for everything she has done for him. Ever since he has arrived from Spain, he has wanted to do this. He kisses her.
18. Aurelio tells Vale that when he found out that her mother Vero was pretending to be another person to be close to her, it seemed pure craziness to him. She asks if he doesn't think it is now. He says he does but he now understands that a mother will do all kinds of crazy things for a child. He cries as he tells her to think of her mother having her when she was 15 years old. She was a child in a world that was much tougher than this one being in a family like his with a father like him. He was hard, inflexible, authoritarian, mistaken. He thought that being like that he was protecting his family but all he as doing was making them afraid. Outraged, Vale asks if that is why he left Vero alone at 15 expecting a baby. He says he did something much worse. They hid her in a house they had, a lost place. He left her there for months without her going out and without her talking to anyone because he didn't allow her to. Even Romina didn't find out about her pregnancy. He locked her up as if she had committed a crime.
19. Majo pulls away saying she thought they had it straight between them that they were only friends. He wants them to have an open relationship like they had back in Spain. She explains that she cares for him but she doesn't love him. He thinks that they are both single, so why not? She doesn't want to be with anyone unless she is in love. He asks why doesn't she think she could fall in love with him. He came from Spain for her. She explains that she is still in love with Diego and she refuses to use somebody else to forget him. She can only offer him friendship. If that is not good enough, then it is better they do not see each other.
20. Suddenly, the Countess and police appear on the staircase. Renán quickly slips the heirloom emerald necklace into Majo's handbag. He runs. The Countess points out Majo the thief and demands her necklace.
21. Aurelio tells Vale that a midwife helped bring her into the world. Sobbing, he remembers seeing her mother and her begging him to put her in her arms. He wouldn't allow it. He didn't let her hold her or kiss her; nothing not even for a minute. He believed it was going to be easier for Vero that way so she could go on with her life, study, have a future and not be tied down with a teenage pregnancy. They were poor, very poor and he was so very afraid. Vale asks is that why they turned her over to strangers. He says they weren't strangers. He wanted to give her a chance and he thought about what would be best for her where she would want for nothing and not have a grandfather as stupid as he is.She says he separated her from her mother. He admits that is what he did and it was the very worst thing he ever did in his life. Vale is crying too. He says that her mother never got over it. She never could. She never had another boyfriend or any children. She couldn't. She spent her youth and her strength looking for her. She only had one goal: to find her. As Vale continues to cry, Aurelio tells her that Vero is a great woman. She loved Vale without knowing her and when she found her, she loved her without asking her for anything. He asks her not to punish her mother. If anyone is to be punished, it is him. He is the one who deserves her rage but not Vero.
22. The Countess asks Majo how she could have done this to her. Majo thinks of Renán and calls out to him but he is long gone. Majo denies having stolen anything. The Countess doesn't believe her. She knew how valuable that necklace was. Majo says she is wrong. The Countess grabs her handbag ands find the necklace. Majo is arrested on the spot.
23. Kassandra notices that she is being followed. She is quickly surrounded by several men who guide her to a SUV where she is told to get in. Sanabria, Mario's thug and lawyer, greets her. He tells her not to be afraid. If he had wanted to kill her, she would already be dead. The message is that Mr. Nolivos doesn't want to see her around any more. He suggests that she pay attention to what he is going to say because it is the only way she is going to stay alive. She will leave the country today without fanfare, without goodbyes. He asks if she understands. She says she can't leave. She has no money. She has no where to go. He makes it clear that if she doesn't go, they will kill her. Those are Mr. Nolivos' orders and they will all follow them. Next time, there will be no notice.
24. On Joaquín's arm, Vero gives Romina, Consuelo, Nayeli, Hugo and Nico the good news about her new job. They are all happy for her. Vero finds out that Vale is racing and is upset she cannot be there to see her. Then Aurelio appears
25. Aurelio reminds Vero of that the day he took her baby from her arms. Well, today, he is returning her. Vale appears and calls Vero "mamá". Everyone is overjoyed.
26. Majo has been jailed. Iván and Olga are there to see her but she has another visitor. The Countess arrives. Iván says she knows Majo is not capable of doing something like what she is being charged with. He asks if it is revenge because they broke up. She says it is not revenge but justice. His daughter tried to steal a piece of jewelry that is an heirloom from her family. She hopes to never see Iván again in her life.
27. Vero and Vale hug. Vale says she judged her without listening to her and hurt her without understanding. Now she knows everything she suffered and all she struggled through for her. She found out everything and that she never stoped loving her. NEVER. Vero says she loved her before she was born and will love her until the day she dies. Vale tells her she loves her. They hug again and Aurelio joins them.
28. From behind bars, Majo says Diego didn't have to come. Her parents are handling everything. Diego assumes that Renán stole the necklace. She nods. He thinks that Renán saw the police and threw the necklace into her handbag and then ran like a rat. Majo says that Diego was always right. Renán was the one stealing things at the company. He is a kleptomaniac. She tried to help him and got him into therapy. It is an illness and he was getting better. He wants to know why she didn't tell him. She didn't want to see Renán lose his job. Diego asks if that is how he pays her back by sending her to jail. He is a coward.
29. Kassandra is taking Mario's threat seriously and is packing as her mother asks what is going on. She informs her that Mario has ordered her to be killed. Sanabria picked her up on the street and told her that if she didn't leave Mexico, they were going to kill her. Isaura asks why would Mario want her dead. Kassandra says because of HER, that damn Vero. They want her out of the way so they can play family with that bastard that they had. Isaura tells her to stop and think. Kassandra says why? Isaura should know that her life could be in danger, too. Isaura decides they have to get money. She tells Kassandra to get all of her a watches together along with her jewelry. They have to sell it all.
30. Renán is back in the shop with his passport and cash. Diego confronts him about stealing the necklace and letting Majo take the fall. Diego says he is going to turn him in. Renán says no and punches Diego. The fight is on. Diego gets him down and repeatedly punches him in the face.
31. Rebeca is angry and in tears is tellingMario that the race is today and he cannot let Vale race or represent their team. He tells her it has already been decided. She wants to know what is going on. Vale is a hypocrite and doesn't deserve his support. She stole Eleazar from her. Now she is stealing her father. She asks why he is doing this to her. She is his daughter. Mario informs her that Vale is also his daughter. She is shocked and asks what did he say. He says that Vale is her half-sister,
32. Vale tells her mother that for her whole life she thought that she didn't love her. Vero says if she only knew how much time she spent trying to find her. She didn't know what she looked like but she looked for her every day on every corner. There was not a second when she didn't love her with her whole heart. She never stopped searching for her. Vero says she hated the idea her thinking that she didn't want her and that is why she got rid of her.Vero says no and they hug. Vero thinks that Vale is the most beautiful love that she has felt in her life. She is her pride, her strength, her light, her everything. Everything she is, is because of her. Vale apologizes for all the terrible things she said out of her pain and fear. Vero tells her there is nothing to forgive. She is a miracle and it is a miracle that they are together. It is so lovely to hear her call her mamá.
FIN
A polished, glimmering jewel Jarifa.
Your recap was beautifully and heartbreakingly conveyed. A true masterpiece, every word.
Joaquin and Mario's impassioned speeches made me cry. Despite their obvious love and devotion, it paled in comparison to what Vero feels for her daughter. May Vale's heart be healed as she is embraced by her birth family who love her as fiercely as her other family, of the heart.
And Aurelio. I cried hardest at his admittance of wrongdoing and his cruel isolation of Vero as she gave birth. Amazing acting from Alexis Ayala, a tour de force performance.
I had hoped we could share Joaquin and Vero's joy tonight as things come to an end. But anvils are surely swaying in the breeze for Kassandra and Mario.
Emotional turmoil radiated from every word uttered last night but it was one of the most powerful, unforgettable episodes I've ever seen.
Jarifa, one of your finest recaps ever. I am in awe of your talent and your generosity in sharing every single word and emotion with us. Thank you.
Diana
I'll join you there. I truly was in it because you were and I enjoy your posts. I've been watching courage half heartedly but not liking the whole premise of the TN. I saw the actor playing Falcon in a show, nadie como tu, a few years back and he was a scary deranged character so I guess he is typecast.
Thanks, Diana! "Emotional turmoil radiated from every word uttered last night but it was one of the most powerful, unforgettable episodes I've ever seen." You can say that again. Yes, Aurelio turned out to be such a complicated nuanced character.and Alexis Ayala did him justice. I will have quite a bit it to say after the last episode tonight. It promises to be a good one.
Thanks so much Jarifa. The episode was a tearjerker and your recap brought more tears!
I loved how Mario, and then Aurelio, defended Vero’s love and devotion to Vale. I’m glad it was Aurelio that was able to bring her back to her mom. Aurelio was amazing. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen him in a telenovela before.
Majo is in jail with one episode left. I’m thinking they have enough to resolve without adding something at the last minute. I was to see Mario and Kassandra get what they deserve! And then some happiness for everyone else. I guess Nuria will slink away as quickly as she arrived. I guess she was trying, but really clueless about relating to kids.
I’ve resigned myself to Romina and Ivan. Can they make Ivan a little more likable in under an hour. The countess is done with him, so Romina wins by default.
I wonder what will become of Rebecca if her dad ends up in prison. Will she own half the company! That would be a disaster and a whole new telenovela.
I am frustrated . I finally had time to make a comment and then lost it. I will now keep my comments short .
Jarifa, thank you so much !!! You have been so kind to recap this show .
Did we ever know before that Aurelio put Vero alone in a house somewhere ?? Awful .
Why did the writers bring in ratty Renan and Majo in jail at this late date ??
Susan
Jarifa, bravo! I'll say it again, I'm so glad you decided to recap this one.
Majo in a flouncy polka-dot dress behind bars. What a surprise.
Kudos to Aurelio for getting Vale to understand. I was moved when she called him, "Don Aurelio." And totally moved when he brought her to Vero.
Wondering what's next. Time jump? Wedding? Baby Nayeli? Mario's evil revealed?
Liz, I" loved how Mario, and then Aurelio, defended Vero’s love and devotion to Vale." Me, too. That as something I never expected. Alexis Ayala has been in a lot of novelas mainly as villains.
Susan , no, we never knew that Vero was isolated in a house all be herself. It was awful. I was saddened by the fact that he mentioned that after the birth of her baby she never had a relationship or anything fro all those years.
Niecie, "I was moved when she called him, "Don Aurelio." And totally moved when he brought her to Vero." Me, too. I never expected that from him. There were a lot of surprises in this novela.
Jarifa: Looking forward to seeing the recap of last night's Gran Final.
I enjoyed watching this Telenovela & thoroughly enjoyed watching Vero & Vale.
GRAN FINAL
Notes from the Couch
1. Joaquín comes into Vero's house to tell her that it's time to go to the track for the race. She asks Vero if she is going to be there to watch her race. Vero would not miss it for anything in the world. She is always going to be there seeing her as she did in her dreams for all those years. They hug one more time and Vale kisses Vero on the head as she leaves.
2. Vale leaves and Joaquín tells Vero that she did it! Her daughter returned to her. She is overjoyed. Yes! She came back. Joaquín tells her how much he admires her. They hug.
3. Isaura looks shocked as she watches Kassandra take a gun out as she is packing. She asks what she is doing with it. Kassandra smiles and states that if they are going to leave Mexico today, she is not going without Joaquín, Mario and that damn Vale paying for what they have done to her. Her mother tells her to stop the crazy talk. Vero explains that Vale's happiness depends on her daughter so she will be crying tears of blood when that daughter she looked so hard for is buried. She emphasizes her determination with an even bigger smile and wipes away some tears. Isaura now looks worried.
4. Majo is being released from jail and Olga and Iván come to meet her. As she is reuniting with her parents, Renán is being marched in by the police. His head is hung low as Majo asks him if he is turning himself in. Did he tell them what happened? Diego answers that he caught him when he was going to escape. Majo is (finally) outraged thinking that he was going to depart knowing that he was going to leave her behind in jail when she is innocent! He cannot look at her and apologizes and explains that he was afraid. She calls him a coward and reminds him that she believed in him, trusted him and always defended him. On the other hand, he let her down. She no longer knows who he is and never wants to see him again. As they take Renán away, he turns and tells Diego not to forget what he told him. He hopes it can help Joaquín and his family. Majo shows concern over Diego's black eye. She apologizes. He tells her it's all okay. He loves her. She kisses him.
5. At the race track, the activity is in high gear. Carmen is there with Nuria, Dani and Meli. Dani wants to wish Vale good luck. Meli spots Vale hand in hand with Vero with Joaquín bringing up the rear. Meli runs to greet Vero having missed her so much. Vero missed them, too, and they have no idea how much she loves them both. She tells Dani and Meli that they were in her heart from the first day she saw them. Vale explains that she talked with Vero, they apologized and everything is fine. Vero tells the girl that she came into their lives looking for her daughter and she never thought she was going to find two more daughters and a son. She adores all four of them with her whole heart. She hopes they allow her to keep on loving them being just Vero. Meli also wants her to be her mother. Joaquín smiles. Dani says she feels like she is her second mother. Diego has no idea of how long it will take but he wants to see her as a mother, too. Vero hugs him. As they go for a group hug, Joaquín reminds them of who they are: a family. Mario appears and stares at them resigned to reality.
6. Nayeli is with Hugo as he prepares for the race. He suprises her when he drops to one knee and proposes. She accepts. They kiss.
7. Nuria tells Joaquín that she is leaving. She is not comfortable at the track. She would rather go home and get packed. She explains that when she first heard that her brother had died, she felt that she had to be in Mexico at her nieces' and nephew's side. She also felt that is what he and her sister-in-law would have wanted. Truth be told, she had no idea of what she was going to find and underestimated what it was to be their guardian. Also, Vale was right. She always differentiated her from her siblings as if having different blood was somehow was something bad. He says she is right because Luis and Susana never made any difference. She agrees and adds that, as he said, she will always be their aunt. What is more, she thinks that their guardian has to be him. She smiles and makes it clear she will not disappear for years like before. What she does know is that she is leaving the kids with two people who love them as if they were their own parents: Vero and him. She is in tears. Joaquín smiles and thanks her.
8. Vale sees Eleazar and gives him the good news. She saw her mother, she hugged her, they forgave each other and they are okay! He thinks it is incredible and tells her they both deserve it. He is happier for her than she knows. They kiss and Rebeca sees them. She looks sad. They stare at each other.
9. Diego is talking to Joaquín and Marcos. He has news for them. Renán was the one stealing at the office. He is under arrest. Diego says there is more he confessed to him. Joaquín asks about what. Diego says it has to do with Mario's wife Kassandra. Renán was hidden in her office when she and Facundo came in and he heard it all. We see Facundo accusing her of betraying him. She calls him pathetic. He says when he talks to Joaquín, he is going to find out she was Luis' lover and that she forced him into debt to pay for her silence in order to protect his family. He never was a gambler. Her extortion forced him into ruin.
10. Joaquín asks Diego if he is saying that Kassandra was the woman in the hotel photo with Luis. Diego says it proves his father wasn't a gambler. Kassandra laid a trap for him and destroyed him. Joaquín is upset with himself that he never could see who that woman really was. Mario finally speaks up saying that Kassandra knew how to con all of them. He personally assures Joaquín that she will never hurt anyone else again. She will be staying away from Vale and Vero. He tells them both to trust him. He will take charge of the matter. Joaquín can only shake his head in disbelief.
11. Rebeca tells Vale that her father told her everything . . . that she is her sister. Vale makes it clear that she has nothing against her. She never wanted to hurt her or to take anything away from her. Rebeca knows and reminds her of the time when they were really good friends before everything. Rebeca admits that she always envied Vale because she was so good, so brave and brilliant. She wanted to be like her and couldn't. That filled her with rage and then her thing with Eleazar. Rebeca says she has to accept that there is nothing she can do to make Eleazar choose her. Eleazar loves her. He never cared for her like that. Vale never wanted to be her enemy Now that they have found out they are sisters, she would love for them to give themselves a chance to start fresh and maybe love each other although it be a little bit. Rebeca laughs saying she always wanted a bigger family. She only has her father but now she has her! Vale extends her hand saying she can start by accepting her offer to start fresh because they are family. They shake.
12. Joaquín seats everyone in a special viewing area for the race. Iván addresses Aurelio saying only the best spaces for "their new family", right. At Consuelo's prompting, Aurelio says he sees that Romina is very happy and that is enough for him. They all laugh.
13. Dani runs up and hugs Bruno. A stern Joaquín wants to know what is going on between those two. An exuberant Bruno explains that he wants to be Dani's novio, with his approval of course. Joaquín looks like this is the last thing he wants to deal with. Bruno loves to take care of her, making her laugh so she is always happy with him. He asks what does he think. Joaquín makes them all laugh when he breaks the serious mood by saying he is going to trust him! Bruno thanks him. Nayeli and Hugo arrive. She shows off her ring. In her happiness, Carmen hugs her Hugo. Bruno tells Joaquín not to worry because they are not going to eat the cake before recess. They all laugh heartily at his outrageous comment.
14. Vale is telling Mario that it was a miracle. Her daughter hugged her, apologized to her and finally understood everything and that she never had stopped loving her for even a second. Mario smiles and says that Vale has her heart. She inherited it from her. He is thinking that maybe one day Vale will come to love him. She says it will be a long road. He knows. She also knows that Vale is very good-hearted. If he is honest with her, if he is around, if he takes care of her, if he is there for her, she will find him. He is in tears . She says her are things you cannot force. Vero recognizes that she and Mario had a lovely history together. He knows. She makes a point of saying that what they had was real. It was what it had to be and for that reason it ended. She smiles saying the only thing they have left, the best thing they have left is Vale. He knows. He thinks that Joaquín is the luckiest man in the world. He has both her and Valeria's affection.; everything that he wanted but was taken from him. He asks her not to ask him to stop loving her because he can't. That love will be there until the last day of his life. She smiles and thanks him for loving her like that, for loving Vale and for doing the right thing now although it hurts. They hold hands and smile at each other.
15. The race is on! Everyone is cheering for their favorite racer. Vale wins.
16. Eleazar is so excited for Vale that she won. They kiss. Hugo congratulates her, too. All three racers hug as the master of ceremonies calls the crowd to attention so they can hand out the prizes to those who came in first, second and third on the podium. In third place, they have Eleazar Cervera from the Navarro-Nolivos team. He takes his place on the podium. In second place, they have Hugo González also from the Navarro-Cross team. He takes his place. Valeria Miranda, again from the Navarro-Nolivos team, is presented as the first place winner. Fireworks go off as the winners show off their trophies and the spectators cheer. Vale gets to address the crowd. This is the most important day of her life. She is dedicating the trophy to the person who taught he how to be strong, brave and who loved her even before she knew who she was. She dedicates the trophy to her mother. She has Vero join her on the stage. The cheering continues and nobody notices a blond woman working her way through the crowd.
17. Kassandra arrives at the stage and points the gun at Vero calling out he name to get her attention. Mario sees her and steps in front of Vero as she shoots. Mario falls and the crowd as well as Kassandra runs for their lives. Everyone is crowded around Mario. Joaquín screams for an ambulance. Rebeca cries over her father as Vero holds his head. He is non-responsive.
18. Isaura calls out to Kassandra who hijacks a get away car at gunpoint. Isaura has gotten money for the jewelry. The women are on the lam. Kassandra is speeding on the mountain roads getting away from the city. Isaura is afraid and begging her to slow down. Kassandra is smiling from ear to ear and says that is a no go for her. She then starts crying talking about that damn woman who took Mario, Joaquín and everything from her. Isaura tells her to calm down. Kassandra tells her to shut up because she is making her even more nervous. She knows what she is doing but suddenly there are police cars in pursuit. Kassandra becomes hysterical afraid of being killed like an animal and her freedom being taken away. She and her mother scream at each other and finally Kassandra loses control and the car flies off the road and rolls down a hill. The police arrive. Trapped in the wreck of the car, a bloody Isaura tries to get an even bloodier Kassandra to talk. Kassandra manages to say "I lost" and dies on the spot.
19. That very night, Joaquín gets a call and tells Vero that Kassandra died.Vero cannot help but think that Kassandra was ill and very much lost so she could have never wished anything bad for her. Joaquín understands. He says Kassandra caused a lot of damage. Joaquín cannot even think about that bullet being directed at Vale. Vero says Mario died protecting their daughter. Joaquín thinks that the nightmare is over. It is time to get on with life for Vale, for Diego and for his sisters. She nods agreeing that is what they have to do for their children. He agrees for their wonderful children and family. He holds her on the couch.

FIN
I want to thank everyone who read and/or commented on this novela. A special thanks goes out to Diana, Susan, Liz and Niecie whose daily comments kept me going. I have to admit that I really had a good time writing the recaps for this novela from beginning to end no matter how many hours they took. Yes, I will be taking a recapping break.
A few final thoughts
-I was "meh" about this melodrama at first but I soon began to enjoy it and now I can say it is one of the best I have seen.
-Kudos to the writers for their character and plot development and great pacing until the vey end. I liked that there was always something new popping up like the Countess. .
-This was a remake of the Argentinian novela "Somos familia" I didn't care since I never saw the original.
-I liked the backdrop of motocross since I was not really aware of the sport before and learned something.
-The subplots were interesting, even the "youth" ones, so I never got bored. I especially liked the one with Nico.
-The characters were very nuanced like real people. Also, when Verónica or Aurelio got going with telling their stories over and over again, I often wanted to scream!! they were so much like real people who can't let go of a personal issue.
- David Zepeda, Oka Giner and Alexis Ayala have never been better. They all did a tremendous job with their parts. For me, this was the pinnacle for David Zeped a as a leading man. I have not seen much of Oka Giner but her protrayal of Verónica was perfect. I liked the physicality she brougth to her role. Alexis Ayala's transformation as Aurelio was masterful as the schmuck who didn't know any better but should have known better and finally realized how inadequate and wrong he was. As Diana said a "tour de force" performance.
-Great casting and acting all they way around.
-I loved that fatherhood was a theme in this. Joaquín touched me the most with his realization of how much he wanted to be a father. You tend not to see that much these days.
-I liked the theme of everyone making their own decisions for their own happiness and not being limited by others' belief systems. Romina had a great attitude towards moving on.
-Finally, what is better than a time jump at the end so we know what happend to everyone?
Jarifa, how grateful I am for all of your amazing recaps! You captured everything perfectly, sharing critical dialog, sharp insights and all of the action, overt and nuanced. You gave us a masterful short story every night; to pour over, to ponder and to rejoice in. I eagerly waited to "see" what you had to say, and it was unfailingly wise, witty and wonderful.
You recapped every single episode and did so in extraordinary fashion. Thank you for your generous time and effort which showed in every well written and fascinating word.
'David Zepeda, Oka Giner and Alexis Ayala have never been better...For me, this was the pinnacle for David Zeped a as a leading man. I have not seen much of Oka Giner but her portrayal of Verónica was perfect...Alexis Ayala's transformation as Aurelio was masterful as the schmuck who didn't know any better but should have known better and finally realized how inadequate and wrong he was" said it all. And beautifully so...
To be honest, I do rue that Mario, Vero and Vale were never able to form the family that they might have had fate not intervened. Yet, whatever led Mario down the wrong path was vanquished as Mario left this earth truly redeemed. His tenderness and love toward Vero and Vale shone through. He not only gave up his life for them, but he was also instrumental in their mother and child reunion. He gave them his blessing. And his support. Rest in peace Mario.
Joaquin is the galan most want to aspire to be but inevitably fall short. He was quiet, understated but loyal, loving and kind. A good father. A good husband. A good man.
Vero gave up any life for herself in order to concentrate on finding her child. The epitome of selflessness. I wish her and Joaquin and their family much happiness. She was a beautiful bride wasn't she? I loved her hair piece, very Arwen-ish (LOTR) (Oka reminds me of Liv Tyler). Her kisses with Joaquin seemed very real, so very touching.
Happiness for mostly everyone. I was glad to see Yaneli and Hugo get engaged...Romina seems to have her happily ever after...Eleazar and Claudia happy in their own different ways...So many nice little touches from the writers; I was so happy to see Alexa! I had been thinking of her...I can't believe I'm saying this, but I did smile seeing Aurelio and Consuelo together. Sweet mystery of life...
I was a bit surprised Isaura seemed concerned about Kassandra as she lay dying. So cold and calculating it seemed she had a heart after all.
Outside of Kassandra, Marcos seemed to be the biggest loser!
We had such a small but devoted patio. I looked forward to hearing what everyone had to say and sharing our thoughts.
Jarifa, a joy ride start to finish. Thank you, thank you!
Diana
Dear Jarifa, thank you, thank you, thank you . I am so grateful for the time, talent, and effort that you devoted to providing us with recaps that never missed a detail. Your excellent replays of dialogue and action and the comments that followed were a welcome escape from reality for a while every day . I appreciate your daily reviews so much.
For me, I am.glad that most of the storylines were wrapped up even though it was last minute and speedyquick. I thought there was a little too much time spent on showing everyone cheering at the race .
I had to turn away from the scenes of the accident ..that also took time away from the HEAs. I don't like to see anyone suffering ...not even villains . Tell me about the anvils. Don't show me the suffering .
I felt bad for Marcos. He had faults , but he also had his good moments . He was loyal to Joachim , and I think he loved Rom in his own way. He rescued Rom and Ivan when they were kidnapped . I think he loved Rom , but he made bad decisions. I dont think.that he deserved to be alone at that wedding surrounded by everyone else who were happy and looking forward to positive futures. More later susan
The daytime page has not been getting much traffic since the end of KPA and I'm going to be out of town several weeks between now and the end of the year. I plan to suspend posting the daytime page for now - until such a time when there's a daytime novela that people are watching and wanting to discuss.
Please let me know if anyone objects to this plan.
Thanks Jarifa, for this recap of the last episode and all the wonderful recaps you have done for us. You’ve been faithful to us and the story you told. Each recap was like viewing the episodes again with no details left out.
I was sorry to see Marcos all alone a year later. I am disappointed that Romina chose Ivan over him, but after his playtime with Olga I wasn’t surprised with Romina’s choice. And I’m especially glad she gets to be a mother
I liked how all the kids ended up, even Bruno. He was so excited to be at the beach. And I’m glad Claudia is moving on from Diego.
I guess Kassandra and Mario had a fitting end. Mario sacrificed himself for his daughter. I think it would have been hard on Vale and Vero if they found out Mario was behind her parents’ death.
This show was so much better than I expected it to be. Jarifa, you deserve a break, you put so much into the recaps. We all appreciate it!
Darcy: Do NOT get rid of the Daytime Telenovelas section.
"TAN CERCA" GRAN FINAL:
Diana: Vale would've had a complete nervous breakdown if she had found out the hard way about Mario being involved in the deaths of Vale's adoptive parents.
Jarifa: I enjoyed watching the Gran Final.
Diana, Susan and Liz, you are all very welcome. It was my pleasure to recap this novela.I looked forward to doing it every episode since it only had 85 episodes, not like the old days when there were usually 130.
Diana, "Yet, whatever led Mario down the wrong path was vanquished as Mario left this earth truly redeemed. His tenderness and love toward Vero and Vale shone through. He not only gave up his life for them, but he was also instrumental in their mother and child reunion. He gave them his blessing. And his support. Rest in peace Mario." His anvil was his self-sacrifice. He started it all and he ended it all. As soon as Vale was established as his daughter and Vero established Joaquín as her choice, it seemed that all ill will towards Joaquín evaporated. Who would have thought that the hidden murderous "chessmaster", for most to the novela would end up with such a key role in the HEA.
Susan, "For me, I am.glad that most of the storylines were wrapped up even though it was last minute and speedy quick." Me, too. I really hate when we don't know what happened to the characters. I was impressed that they even had Alexa there at the wedding and Rebeca. Since it was one year later, they should have had Marcos show up with a date of his own and not alone mooning over Olga.
Liz, "I liked how all the kids ended up, even Bruno. He was so excited to be at the beach." Me, too. I do admit that I came to appreciate Bruno and his wise cracks. "I think it would have been hard on Vale and Vero if they found out Mario was behind her parents’ death" Oh, yeah. Theirs is a much happier future with that fact buried.
I really liked how cleverly Romina tried to tell Iván she was pregnant with the grape in the box. The chump had to eat it and then she had to spell it out for him. That was funny.
Jarifa, muchisimas gracias. Your recaps were a bright spot each day. I've had a ball reading your detailed coverage.
This TN sort of reminds me of Mrs. Doubtfire. I like that most of the conflict came from characters' action and personalities, not from stupid misunderstandings.
There were some glaring lapses in logic -- like why money-grubber Kass wanted soon-to-be-broke Joaquin and why Mario never called Vero all those years -- but I enjoyed everything just the same.
It's nice to see so many forgive and move on in the finale, but things were too rushed for me. I don't remember all the fashions at the beach wedding, but everyone looked great.
Silly me thought Isaura might balk when Kass got the gun, but nope. In the end, Kass lost her mind hating Vero.
So we'll never know why Mario hated Joaquin at the start of the TN.
Niecie, you are welcome. We did have a fun patio for this one. " like that most of the conflict came from characters' action and personalities, not from stupid misunderstandings." Isn't that the truth? I am never a fan of "el malentendido"
either. "So we'll never know why Mario hated Joaquin at the start of the TN." I kept wondering when it was going to come out but the secret surely died with him unless Sanabria knew but he wouldn't be talking anyway. : ) Oh, well, it was a good time!
Glad to see some more comments.
Jarifa, yes , the writers certainly gave us some surprises,. I kept wondering why we never heard anything about Vale's father . Then, late in the game, we get the big surprise.....it's the Big Bad villain whose face we didnt see for many episodes. Refresh my memory ...Facundo hated Joachim because he lost his hearing while racing with him. Pure revenge and jealousy ( Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!)Then, Facundo messed with Luis' plane . Did Facundo think that Joachin was going to be on that plane? Did Mario direct him to do that ? So, did the writers never explain Mario's hatred for Joachim ? Was it just about business and winning races ? Susan
Facundo was following Mario’s orders when he messed with the plane. Facundo thought Joaquin was on it but Mario knew it was Luis and Susana. He made those kids orphans and never showed regret. Maybe he did at the end when he met Vale. Also Joaquin didn’t hire Facundo when he and Luis started the business. I guess Mario maybe had a similar grudge, maybe from their racing days.
Niecie: I busted out laughing when you referred to this Telenovela as "Ms. Doubtfire" of Mexico.
I think Vero needed to wear a latex mask skinsuit or something LOL.
Liz: I was glad that Mario died: Good riddance to a stuck-up Jackass!
