#95 part 1
Slight rewind: Drunk Ferit leaves the party with a woman and orders Abidin to take them to the yali.
They enter the yali grounds. Ferit gets out of the car and then changes his mind. He tells Abi to take the girl away. Abi is puzzled. I don’t want any girls right now, Ferit says, do something. It’s nothing you haven’t done before, isn’t it? Be a gentleman, okay? You know how. Ferit stumbles towards the house, singing that song from the car. Abi watches him go and says to himself, why do you hurt yourself so much, Ferit?
They edited out Ferit’s drunken singing. He plops down on his bed, and when the song is finished, he hugs a pillow from Seyran’s side of the bed and mutters… Seyran, why did you do this? He sniffs the pillow. He throws it. Go, go… sleep on the couch! It still smells like you, Seyran.
Ferit wakes up in the middle of the night. Seyran? Seyran? Seyran comes out of the bathroom in a red gown. [yes, this is a dream.] She asks Ferit, aren’t you ready yet? She sees the pillow on the floor. Look at this, she smiles, you threw my pillow at the sofa. Did you remember old times? She places the pillow back on the bed and approaches him.
Seyran? Ferit smiles back at her. He takes her hair and sniffs it. He takes her hand. Are you here? I’m wherever you are, she replies. Ferit gets emotional and they embrace. Seyran… you don’t know how much I missed you. I missed you so much. Your scent, your eyes, I missed all of you. Seyran giggles, but Ferit, I was always here. I didn’t go anywhere.
It’s morning and Ferit is still smiling in his sleep. Pelo has come to him. She kisses him and he wakes up. He’s shocked. What’s going on? What the hell… Relax, Pelo says, I just came to wake you up. He quickly gets out of bed. He grabs her arm. How did you get here? She tells him to calm down and says Ifakat called them to come. She’s with my mom downstairs.
Ferit gets angry. You can’t come into this room! Are you serious, Pelo asks, you proposed yesterday and now I can’t come here? Shut up, he shouts, I don’t want to see you in this room ever again, understand? She looks at him, he’s still in his clothes from last night. Did you sleep like this? Go take a shower and relax. What did you do last night? Gulsah said you went out.
How did you know, Ferit asks, did you talk to her? Who else is here? Just my mother and Ifakat, Pelo replies, they are waiting for you. Ferit asks why. To talk, Pelo says, maybe to give congratulations. But if you don’t want to talk, we can go to the gym together. I brought my things with me. I can’t handle this right now, Ferit says. She kisses his cheek and goes. He wipes it off. Slimy! Ferit picks up Seyran’s pillow from the floor and hugs it with a sharp exhale. He places it back on the bed. He calls Abidin. Prepare the boat. I’m going to the gym.
Abi gets ready to leave the kitchen. Sefika comments, what happened? He’s going with that girl? Abi says they’re going to the gym. What will we do now, she asks, if Ferit divorces Seyran, is he going to marry that girl? Yusuf pipes up, so what? Marriage isn’t important to him. Didn’t he live like a bachelor while he was married? Sefika tells him to shut up.
Yusuf leaves the kitchen and calls Seyran. Hello Seyran, how are you? A lot has happened in the last few days. Can we meet? We are fine, Seyran replies, thanks for asking, but it wouldn’t be right to meet you. Listen, he says, Pelin came to the yali with her mother. We need to see each other right now. Seyran is ticked. You called just to tell me that? Don’t make me mad! Ask anyone, Yusuf says, they are preparing the boat. They’re going out to the gym. It’s clear they will marry when you divorce him.
#95 part 2
Seyran hangs up. This can’t be real, she says. Suna asks what’s happening. She went to the house, Seyran answers, they’re getting ready to go out on the boat! They are going to the gym! This must be a joke! I’m going crazy! Suna tries to calm her down. What can I do, Seyran replies, I don’t know how to calm down! Those two are mocking me! I will hold him accountable for this! Shameless! Shameless!
Suna tells her sister to think. Ferit won’t marry her. He’s just doing this to drive you crazy. Don’t fall for his game. Whatever, Seyran replies, that wretch is getting to him. I will hold them accountable, each one, or don’t call me Seyran! I swear!
Halis is on the phone. I don’t want any problems. Don’t spread any rumors anywhere. My grandson’s name won’t even be mentioned alongside those people. Orhan and Latif are with Halis. Orhan asks, is this important? The divorce hearing is tomorrow, Halis answers, Latif, let Ifakat know. She’ll inform the family. He asks Orhan to stay.
Orhan, what do you think about this, Halis asks. I think it’s best to resolve this, Orhan replies, they should divorce. But you know better. Of course I know better than you, Halis answers, this entire situation happened because you are not a proper father. You reacted too late. You failed. I’m the one suffering the consequences. It’s an embarrassment. How old are you? Will you ever become a man, Orhan?
Yes, well… maybe I made mistakes, Orhan stutters, but… Halis cuts him off, I don’t want explanations. At least this time, you should get involved. Do me a favor and take care of your family, take care of your son. Now go.
Orhan leaves the room devastated. He runs into Ferit who notices his father is upset. He comments, I didn’t think talking to grandpa would make you so emotional. I’m not in the mood, Orhan says, you’re going to court tomorrow. You’re getting divorced. It’s Ferit’s turn to be upset. Ah, good news, did grandpa tell you? I assume you’ve given the good news to Pelin. I think grandpa would want to congratulate me. I should go see him.
Orhan stops Ferit. Do it later. Go to court first. Ferit asks, why do you look like this? Didn’t grandpa want this. Didn’t he summon Seyran and ask us to sign the papers? Didn’t he also call Pelin to this house and have her kiss his hand? I don’t think he’ll be surprised. I’ll talk to him. Orhan holds him back. What the hell are you doing, Ferit? What do you want? What’s the problem? Do you want us to leave this house?
Ferit pulls away from his dad. I don’t care about that. If you want to go or stay, I’ll keep living the way I want. He laughs. But where would you go? Everyone in this house has shown me they don’t know how to live without what Grandpa gave them. You’re not capable so don’t talk nonsense. On that note, Ferit goes. [Wow, Orhan gets reamed by his father and his son.]
Latif informs Ifakat out on the terrace. She returns to the living room. Zerrin asks if this is a private family matter. Ifakat says no. Latif Bey said the court date has been set. We have nothing to hide from you. It concerns you as it concerns us. Asuman inquires, a court date? Ifakat clarifies that it’s Ferit and Seyran’s divorce hearing.
Pelo turns to her mother, smiles and utters, Bismillah [In the name of Allah. Said before starting a task or for Allah’s blessing.] Asuman notes how happy they seem about this. Ifakat doesn’t appreciate her comment and shushes her—Asuman! Gulgun steps in. Seyran is gone. Is it Asuman’s turn now? Ifakat answers, what are you implying? Did I end the marriage? Gulgun replies, the things you did to divorce them are obvious!
#95 part 3
Zerrin speaks up. Gulgun, if there’s something you want to say to my daughter or me, be open about it. But let me remind you, you’re not dealing with Seyran or her pathetic mother here. Ferit enters the room and hears this. He says, oh, look at this! Mashallah, mashallah! [Allah has willed it. It also wards off the evil eye.] It’s great how you’ve started bonding, he snarks, I love it. He tells Pelo, let’s go.
Zerrin calls him back. I haven’t congratulated you. Let me congratulate you and you can kiss my hand. Of course, Ferit fake smiles. He kisses her hand, gives her a hug and smirks behind her back. [ha, he put his chin on her hand and not his lips.] She asks Ferit when they will return. Pelin has to look for wedding dresses this afternoon.
Wedding dresses, Ferit asks. Ifakat quips, we didn’t think you’d choose to marry so quickly. We have to hurry. Ferit says they’ll get back early for shopping. He turns to Pelin, but if you’re in such a hurry, you can go now. No, Pelin wants to go to the gym with Ferit. Gulgun asks to speak with Ferit privately.
My dear son, Gulgun begins, I’m sincerely willing to forget everything you said, but don’t do this to yourself. I beg you, please. You love Seyran. I know it. Ferit replies, and do you think my father loves you or me or all of us? Sometimes you can’t even recognize those closest to you, right, mommy? She asks, so are you going to make yourself unhappy just because you’re angry at your father and grandfather and Seyran?
If it’s wrong, it’s my mistake, Ferit answers, what’s it to you? Fine, Gulgun says, then get married. I will support you. Count on me. But I never want to see you cry for Seyran again. Ferit nods. Okay, tell Pelin I’m waiting for her at the boat. He leaves the house. Gulgun sits and thinks.
Kazim is on the phone to his lawyer. Ah, Halis Korhan acted quickly. There’s no escape from fate. Everyone finds out what’s in their destiny. Okay, I’ll get back to you. Hattuc asks about the call. It’s not my business, Kazim answers, it’s your niece’s business, over there. The girls and Esme are cleaning in the kitchen. Be happy, he tells Seyran, Halis Korhan has initiated court proceedings.
Seyran looks stunned. Kazim asks her, didn’t you want to get divorced? Well, tomorrow, you’ll be single again. Hattuc complains that they didn’t even get the chance to talk about this. Kazim says, I’ll meet with Saffet Aga, and we’ll speed up the process to end it quickly, okay? Suna will get married soon and we’re not ready.
You think planning a wedding is easy, Hattuc asks. Nazan Hanim called. We’re going dress shopping today. Kazim tells them to get that done quickly and get back to work in the kitchen. He puts on his jacket and whispers to Hattuc, remember, talk about what I told you, okay? Don’t forget. He leaves.
Seyran immediately goes to pour a glass of water. Her hands are shaking. Her tears fall. Suna asks if she’s okay. No, Seyran replies, I feel terrible. She leans on the table and cries. They set a court date. [it’s hard to have sympathy for her.] It’s too late for regrets, Hattuc tells her, your opportunity passed.
Am I regretful, Seyran replies, you don’t know what you’re saying. They should be regretful. From now on, no one will be able to hurt me like this and just move on with their lives. You talk like an empty tin can, Hattuc responds, if you had even a little bit of sense, you would have had a child. Then let’s see if they would have mistreated you. Oh, Hanim Ağa, you’d live like a queen in that yali.
#95 part 4
No one knows what could have happened, Seyran says. Do you really think someone like that, who did those things, wouldn’t do this once he had children? We can’t know, Hattuc admits, but if nothing else, a part of your life would have come into the world. She gets emotional. You can’t just live a boring, lifeless existence like me. I have absolutely no regrets about not having children yet, Seyran replies. She leaves the kitchen.
Ferit is on the boat and Pelin arrives. She looks at everyone there (Abi, Dicle, Carlos, Ferit) Well, it doesn’t seem like everyone is in a sporty mood today, she notes. Should we take the boat trip? Ferit tells her she doesn’t have to come to the gym. He’ll tell the captain to drop her off. No, she says, I want to be with you! Remember when we would go out secretly like this?
Don’t dwell on the past, Ferit tells her, we don’t keep anything a secret anymore. Everything is out in the open. Learn these new rules. Ferit goes into the cabin and takes control of the boat. Abi uses this opportunity to talk to Pelin. Don’t do this, he says, stop. I’ve known you for years. I’m saying this for both of you. You won’t be happy.
You never understood us, Pelin answers, none of you understood how Ferit and I were together. We were happy that way, with the highs and lows. That’s what I call happiness. That’s why you can’t understand. Mind your own business. Abi whispers to himself, this is sick.
Hattuc asks Suna, where’s Seyran. [lol, where would she be?] Suna says she’s in her room, resting. She felt terrible when she found out. She wanted this to happen, Hattuc says, you should watch and learn. You should make your husband adore you. [Is that Esme nodding in agreement? Good grief.] You’ll gain nothing with that kind of attitude.
Seyran comes out of her room. She’s dressed to go out. Hattuc says, the guests are coming later. Why are you dressed up now? I need to go out, Seyran replies, I’ll be back later. There’s a pause. Seyran blurts—I can’t let this happen, okay? I need to say something to Ferit. If I don’t, I’ll regret it forever.
Hattuc puts her foot down. No! You’re not going anywhere! Your father will kill you if he finds out! Don’t worry, Seyran replies, he won’t kill me. With everything that’s happened, death wouldn’t be so terrible! I’m not scared of him. Esme tries to stop her from leaving but Seyran goes. Hattuc feels faint. Esme dispenses the cologne. The guests are about to arrive, Hattuc worries, what will we tell them? What if her father finds out?
Carlos informs Ifakat that the car is ready. Ifakat says she had to pull strings to get this last-minute appointment. Gulgun says she’s going too. Ifakat asks why. If everyone is determined, Gulgun says, I don’t want to stay behind. My son is the one getting married, right? Gulgun leaves to get ready. Asuman leaves the room in disgust. She mutters, why does nothing in this house surprise me?
#95 part 5
Zerrin notes, the three of us are going now. I hope we won’t be late. She’s also a bit concerned—aren’t we looking too early? Everything isn’t clear yet. And this fashion house is a place I’ve never heard of. Ifakat scoffs. It’s a very classy shop. You’ll see why I picked it when we get there.
Ferit and Pelin play ping pong. He smashes a ball right at her, showing no mercy. She asks him to take it easy. You don’t understand, he tells her, but you should learn now. First rule is, learn to lose. Second rule, accept that you lost. Pelin has no chance.
Seyran comes to the gym to find Ferit. She replays her sister’s words: Seyran, go talk to him. See what he says. Be sincere like he was to you. She interrupts the ping pong game. Ferit looks unnerved. He asks Pelin to let them talk alone. She hesitates. He repeats, leave us.
Ferit asks Seyran if she wants to play. No, Seyran replies, you’re playing with the one you should be playing with. So why did you come, Ferit asks, is there something I can do for you? Or for someone else? [snarky!] How can I help? She asks, did you really do this? Did I hear correctly? He wants to know what she heard. She says, you’re getting married. You proposed.
Ferit laughs. Did you really come here to talk about this? I asked you a question, she says, answer it like a man. Be serious. Be a man. What’s going on, he asks, why are you so upset? I don’t understand. I asked you a simple question, she replies. The question is simple, he says, the answer is simple, but what I don’t understand is this…what’s it to you? Remember you said to me, “what’s it to you, Ferit?” I think I have the right to say this now, too.
Seyran nods. Of course, but that’s not the answer to the question. Just answer and I swear I’ll never bother you again. Ferit smiles at her. She’s determined to get an answer. Tell the truth, she says, I want to hear it looking in your eyes. I know it’s not my business. You can do whatever you want.
Ferit moves in very close. Very close as if he’s ready to kiss her. He whispers, evet (yes). We’re getting married. Is that okay? She tries to hide her upset. He smirks. What did you expect, Seyran? You thought I’d cry over you for the rest of my life? You finally got what you wanted. Everything is over. Isn’t that what everyone wanted. To speed things up? You wanted to get rid of me, and you got it. Aren’t you happy? You did it. Your hand didn’t even shake when you signed those papers. You didn’t even think about it, right? What gives you the right to come for an explanation now?
No reason, Seyran says. Like I said, I just wanted to hear it looking into your eyes. That’s all. But I was right, I was always right. Ferit asks, right about what? That you’re not a man, she replies, this is what you are. A man who can’t stand by his word, a man with no moral compass whatsoever.
Ferit starts nodding along. Seyran continues, you’re no different from your grandfather or your father, the ones you’re so angry with and disapproving of. That’s true, Ferit admits. One is my father, the other is my grandfather. I must have picked up something from them, right?
#95 part 6
Seyran turns and Ferit grabs her arm. He warns, just wait. These are your best days. You’ll say, “I wish that my head, which I never bowed out of pride, had been cut off so I wouldn’t have done these things.” But it’s too late now. She snarks, oh how you soothe my soul when you talk to me like this. I feel so relieved. I’m so happy I did the right thing by not trusting you, by not believing you, Ferit. That thing in your eyes is neither love nor affection. There’s anger in your eyes. [gosh, I wonder why?] There is jealousy, there is evil.
I’m a bad person, Ferit answers, and now I’ll be even worse. I love being bad. Are you just realizing this now? Seyran nods. The fault lies with me. I wish I had realized it sooner. Great, he says, everything’s fine. Better late than never, right? There’s no point in dragging this out. You came to hear me looking right in my eyes. You heard. Now stop looking at me. I want you to leave. I shouldn’t keep my future wife waiting. Let’s not offend her, okay? Seyran slaps Ferit. He laughs, that’s great. That’s how you do it. Is this why you wanted to see me?
Seyran turns to go and Ferit stops her again. Where are you going, what are you doing? Come on, give me a few more slaps. It relaxes you. Do it. Go ahead and hit me. Hit now, because you won’t find me again. You won’t be able to slap me, understand? You’ll have to take it out on yourself. You’ll go crazy. You’ll lose your mind. [I’d like to see her try this with Tarik.] You won’t be able to talk to me whenever you want, and you won’t be able to look into my eyes. Is that clear?
Ferit opens the door for her. She says, see you in court tomorrow. She walks away and Pelin stops her. I told you, didn’t I? Ferit always ends up coming back to me. Seyran leaves. Pelin goes back to Ferit and asks, are we leaving? You should go, he tells her, I think I’ll box a little with Ibo. Pelo is okay with that. She tells Ferit, everything will be okay, you know? Give it time. He just looks at her and leaves the room. Ferit is very much affected. Meanwhile, Seyran is crying in a cab.
Kazim is riding in Saffet Ağa’s van. Wow, aga, Kazim notes, you’re so different. Saffet laughs, where did that come from out of nowhere? What do you mean, nowhere, Kazim replies, isn’t it so? You’re the first one I’ve seen stand defiantly against Halis Korhan. You said what you wanted and brought our beautiful daughter back. May Allah be pleased with you.
Saffet explains, this world has codes of conduct. Halis Korhan’s grandson wronged us. We’ve done nothing in return yet, but there will certainly be a time at the end of the month when all accounts will be settled. God willing, Kazim replies. The van has arrived at the destination. Kazim asks, what is this place? You’ll find out, Saffet says. Whatever you say, Kazim answers.
And we are out.
Monday 12th, Part 1
.
Rehash- Sadakat learns what everyone else already knew- Boran sucks. But she’s still willing to take the blame, for which I say, fine. Let her go to jail for the big dumb jerk. She is pretty good with a gun, though, so maybe she needs to be kept around for a bit longer. Her good children try to convince her to turn in Boran. Alya yells that she wants to protect Deniz but Sada yells back that she’s doing the same. Trying to protect her murderer son from being called a murderer. No consideration at all for poor Vurgun. And then Sada once again blames Alya for all this, telling her none of this would have happened if she had left (which she couldn’t do because Boran called the cops on her and stopped her). Sada still says SHE is the one who shot Vurgun and everyone looks at her sadly as she leaves. “Maldita sea”, says Alya, before walking out of the room.
.
They both sit in their respective rooms and cry. The other kids talk about trying to get her to change her story. They walk outside and Ipek is there. She came because she was worried about Alya. Kaya thanks her because they found Alya because of her. He also says she’s happy she’s there and puts a hand on her shoulder, which makes Ipek happy until Zerrin shows up. Kaya explains to Zerrin and Fidan that it was Ipek who saw Alya and helped. Zerrin thanks her but looks a little pensive. Kaya looks at Zerrin. Ipek looks at Kaya. And Zerrin mostly stares off at the distance. Ipek needs to head home and Zerrin tells Kaya that he should drive her, but Ipek says she has her car there. Zerrin insists and everyone looks uncomfortable but Kaya is a good boy and drives her home. Ipek smiles a bit.
.
Cihan tells Alya that the videos (there are videos?) are still being checked for more info and he stops her from going to report Boran. He wants her to eat something, as though they ever eat anything they’re served, but she can’t eat. She apologizes for getting annoyed at him but she’s mostly mad at Sadakat. Cihan insists that he WILL find Deniz and get her custody back, so she should chill. Alya is quite worried about what will happen when Deniz sees Ecmel. Then someone calls Cihan from Alya’s phone. They think it’s Boran but it's the boy. He found the phone and knew the password. He’s not such a helpless kid after all! And then they ask if he can send the location, which he can (!), but just as he’s doing this the phone dies. He mentions needing a charger and CihAl is cut off for now. Alya talks about the people in the woods who don’t have to worry about who is shooting who, etc. The simple life is what she’s jealous of. Cihan says when they get Deniz back, they should live next to them. He mentions Tarhana, which is apparently what the soup the woman served is called. I looked up recipes. It does sound pretty good, but seems like a lot of work to get make the dried powder it’s made from. Still. Yum. End digression. Cihan’s teasing a bit and knows she’d miss the hospital. But he wants them to be together. Him. Her. Deniz. Dicle (the future baby girl). Some dreamy talk here of a future life. Then he asks why the heck she was up a tree and how she got there. They get a little chuckle out of this before going back to being sad about Deniz.
Monday 12th, Part 2
.
Sahin asks Zeririn what’s up with sending Kaya with Ipek and what is going on with her. As he’s talking to her and telling her she’s different with him now, Fidan comes in and tries to get him to back off. Sahin says he’ll go after Demir if he’s threatening her. The Kaya calls her and Sahin insists she answer. Kaya is outside and she goes out to talk to him. Fidan yells that’s he shouldn’t be going anywhere at this time, and then Fidan yells at Sahin for giving Zerrin grief. Fidan tells him that her divorce hearing was today and it was denied. (I think this was a lie). Nare gets up to head to bed but she’s woozy, and finally Fidan asks if she’s, you know. Preggers. But she doesn’t want to think about that and get her hopes up.
.
Kaya is also annoyed with the way Zerrin is treating him and she says getting him to drive Ipek home. Erol calls Kaya for some reason to tell him that the divorce hearing WAS today, so not a lie, but only the lawyers attended and the divorce was not granted. Kaya and Zerrin argue about this and Demir shows up to make everything worse. Demir and his thugs beat up Kaya while Zerrin yells for help. Helps comes but Demir says that he doesn’t want the divorce and neither does she, right Zerrin. She says nothing while Demir says she’ll never stop being his mujer. Kaya drives off in a huff.
.
CihAl chastely and fully clothed slept on the couch together. Cihan has a neck crick and Alya offers a massage. Cihan is going to Vurgun’s funeral that got planned awfully quickly and Alya has to go to the hospital.
.
Nare greets Alya and Alya tells her about talking to Deniz the night before. Then Alya mentions the exam that Nare missed earlier and Nare isn’t sure she wants to do the pregnancy test but Alya insists on checking her out.
.
All the men are at the funeral. Cihan asks Hasan if he’s found Vurgun’s family, but Hasan hasn’t yet and will keep looking. Oooh- not only men! Sadakat is there, surprising everyone including Cihan. He goes to her, asks why she’s there, and tells her to go tot the police and do her duty. Cihan points to the grave and tells her that won’t be the last and she needs ot do what’s right. Cihan gets a mysterious call and tells the caller to hang up. He leaves without telling us what’s up.
.
Alya comes back to Nare with the results. Nare thinks it’s nothing and Alya waits a few beats before telling her she’s pregnant! Yay! Happiness all around. Nare is going to tell Sahin tonight. She gets a call from Cihan who wants to talk to Alya. He says cameras along the road she remembered picked up Boran and he’s on it. But she runs out to go with and Nare insists on going to. Kaya thinks it’s buts she’s going but Cihan is like, whatever, she’s in the truck so let’s go.
.
They drive along the road where Boran was seen and Cihan talks to Alya about what she might remember, sounds, anything. They drive over the bridge and she remembers that. They keep following Alya’s memory while Sahin and his men are checking houses somewhere looking for Boran. They decide the house isn’t going to be in town but further out. They get to some place with trucks being loaded and they recognize Ecmel’s men. Cihan and Kaya get out to take up positions while the womenfolk wait in the car.
Monday 12th, Part 3
.
Deniz had found a charger and had the phone plugged in. He’s just about to turn it on when Boran enters to lie to the boy that he, Boran, will give the phone back to Alya. Deniz being a little snot is now working in favor of the good guys because he refuses to hand it over to Boran. The mild argument draws Ecmel into the room to see what’s going on, which surprises Deniz.
.
The boy is upset and Boran wants to know why Ecmel is there. They argue while Boran yanks Ecmel out of the room. Meanwhile, Deniz has proven to be more resourceful than a spoiled child should be, and he has run out of the house right where Cihan, et al, can see him. Cihan tries to keep a gunfight from starting because of the boy, but no such luck. Boran drives off with the boy with Alya and Nare following right behind. Cihan and Kaya stayed behind for all the shooting while they wait for Sahin to come rescue them. In Boran’s truck, Deniz whines about the bad man being there and that he wants his mom. Boran lies that he’ll see her, but he notices that they are following right behind and he accidently narks on them to Boran. None of this is going to end well, is it?
.
More shooting. Sahin shows up. Even more shooting. The bad guys beat a retreat and the good guys head to the cars, presumably to go after Deniz. More driving. Alya is catching up to Boran, who thankfully is driving on a nice paved road. It’s busy, though, and he has to pass people and ends up off the road. Deniz jumps out when the truck stops and runs to mommy. Then he runs off towards the road for some reason, maybe trying to get away from Boran, while Boran pulls Alya back so Nare chases after Deniz. Crash sounds and this really doesn’t sound good. Nare should have stayed home.
.
K
Howdy from the Alamo City CarayCaray Family. Here's my super-short recap of last night's episode.
*Aurelio & Dalvio having obvious tensions regarding who's going to tell Tata that Ismael is dead escalated fast.
*Cifuentes shoots Slippery Mauricio dead on the spot after realizing he's more of a liability. Guess that means Dalila & Castillo missed out on taking the Slippery bastard down.
*Romina texting Isturiz while working at DEA Mexico Headquarters.
*Vitaminas & Emilia getting their freak on LOL.
*Almendariz holding campaign meeting with Gullible David & Amanda.
*Los Casillas in a shootout with Cifuentes & Co.,
Thanks, K, for the recap. Vurgun's burial was right on time. Muslims (and Jews) like to bury the deceased within 24 hours if possible, or as soon as they physically can. Of course, this has religious roots, but is actually a good health practice.
I was disgusted about the gun fight over a young boy. It reminded me of the fight in Midsummer Night's Dream over a young child. MSND's fight is serious, but not deadly.
I was/am pretty worried about Nare. Everyone is concerned about her safety for coming along on a car ride. "It's too dangerous." Never having been pregnant, I didn't know this could be dangerous. And Nare insisted upon coming, even after getting some flack. The only valid concern would have been if Alya thought Boran would do something crazy to Nare. (
Another wonderful, sarcastic recap, K. Thanks so much. And also thanks for reminding me that Boran also came to the highway where Alya was trying to get out of Turkey. And he came with the police. So Sada's blaming Alya, as always, makes no sense.
Boran sucks. Does he ever! And, yes, Sada keeps insisting she shot Vurgun but isn't turning herself in for it.
The videos referred to must be the ones that Erol's contact in the police gave Erol showing occasional views of cars on the highway.
It's probably not that weird that Deniz is that tech savvy. It's a whole different world from when I learned to type on a manual typewriter in school.
Huh? Turkish men don't believe women can climb trees? Any reasonably fit woman could have done what Alya did.
Demir shows up to make everything worse...ALWAYS!
Funny how memories work. I had remembered Deniz being in front of the vehicle but not Nare. I believe both will be all right and this was a typical, scare Viewerville ending.
Anastasia, we are one step closer to a Brewers/Guardians World Series! My brother, the pessimist, thinks our team can't win because the Rays won so many more games. I say it's who's playing well right now that matters. This is doubly true for the blasted Dodgers, who are in big trouble.

Part 1 of 3
I thought I had a perfectly delightful episode to recap. I should have known better.
We begin with crazy eyes Boran risking his son’s life in a car chase. When the jerk comes to a stop, I’m glad it’s a four-door because Deniz jumps out and runs to his mother. Boran roughly fights with Nare and Alya trying to grab Deniz. The kid runs into the road. Nare pursues and pushes him to safety because of an oncoming car. Nare seems to have been hit.
We get a teensy bit of humanity from Boran. He looks aghast. Nare is, after all, his sister. Deniz is fine. We see Nare holding her stomach. Sahin, Kaya, and Cihan arrive. Sahin is screaming Nare’s name. We get a good look at Nare’s false eyelashes as she’s prone there. Cihan threatens the life of the driver of the car, a guy seemingly unconnected to these people. Everyone hovers over Nare. Sadakat, of course, appears, as does Ecmel. [The whole cast appearing at every crisis is just ridiculous.]
Nare murmurs mi bebe and closes her eyes. Alya confirms to Sahin that she’s pregnant and only found out this morning. Boran is back to his earlier acting skill, staring bug-eyed. Kaya yells, points at him, and says to his mother: This is the man you’re protecting? Boran says it wasn’t his fault. [Technically he’s right.] Sahin runs toward Boran threatening to kill him. Boran wisely locks himself in the car and takes off. An ambulance arrives. [These Turkish ambulances get to the boondocks really quickly.]
Cihan and a livid Sahin take off after Boran. Ecmel also pursues. Cihan asks Sahin to show some restraint. Boran comes to a stop. Can’t remember why. Of course there’s a gun in every dizi glove compartment, and Boran gets out of the car with one. He immediately shoots at Sahin and wounds him slightly. Boran, Cihan, Ecmel and Sahin point guns at each other for a loooong time. Wow! Father of the Year Ecmel threatens to shoot Sahin. But Cihan shoots it out of his hand.
Cihan begs Sahin to lower his gun, saying he himself has a score to settle. Sahin snarls that Boran’s poisoned blood doesn’t make them brothers. Cihan looks murderous. I’m getting bored when we hear sirens. As usual, Cihan keeps a cool head and tells Sahin to put his gun away as he does the same.
The cop asks what’s going on. Sada magically arrives with Hasan. The cop in charge orders the others to grab up Boran. Why? Ecmel insists it’s a big mistake. Boran says he hasn’t done anything. The cop says that there’s an order to arrest him. La Señora Sadakat Albora accuses him of having killed Señor Vulgun Celebi. Stunned faces all around. Sada looks very grim. Boran stares at her. I’m jumping with joy on my sofa.

Part 2 of 3
Ecmel curses at Sadakat. Boran is put in handcuffs while he babbles that Alya and Cihan did this to him. Just before they stuff him into the police car, he repeatedly asks Sadakat how she could do this to him. Sadakat says to Cihan that she left it too late, but she did it. [Yep! Your grandson got a scare. You almost lost another grandchild, the one in utero, and your good son almost shot the bad one. But kudos to the Sadakat actor for a perfect expression of anguished remorse.]
Fidan’s at the hospital, along with everyone else. Yalcin and Alya come out. Yalcin announces she’s not in danger. And Alya smiles broadly and says the baby is also fine. Whew! Fidan embraces Cihan.
Alya and Nare have a nice moment together in Nare’s room at the hospital. Alya thanks her for saving Deniz. Nare replies that she’s his auntie and she loves him. Alya tells Nare what happened with Boran. Alya opens the door to the whole gang, and they all pour in smiling from ear to ear. When Sahin asks why she didn’t tell him, the reply is that she only found out about the baby today and was planning something special to tell him. Fidan and Sadakat, the co-grannies to be, are both delighted.
There’s a quick cut to the Midyat courthouse. Sada, Sahin, Kaya and Erol await. Ecmel and Nadim arrive. Sada grumbles at the sight of them. Boran, handcuffed, is led up from below by two cops. [Wonder if anyone peeked at him through that weird window that looks onto the cells.] Boran stares daggers at his mother.
Alya and Cihan arrive at the mansion and are greeted by Ummu. She asks about Niña Nare. [Perhaps she was there for Nare’s first steps.] Cihan reassures her. Ummu says they did as they were asked, blaming everything that happened on the bad man (Ecmel).
There are some happy moments with Alya, Cihan and Deniz. [I absolutely love it when the Cihan actor smiles broadly. It happens so seldom.] All of it was Ecmel’s fault. Cihan even tells Deniz that Boran didn’t know Ecmel would show up. Deniz’s reply is that he doesn’t want to stay with his father. Alya assures him he’ll stay with her. Deniz gives his mother her phone back.
On to Boran’s hearing. The judge states that he’s there because of a charge of homicide. Boran insists he didn’t do it. The judge goes on to say that his mother affirms that he shot Vurgun. She’s lying! I wasn’t even there.! The judge chides him for speaking without permission. Sadakat comes into the courtroom. She’s very calm. Boran Albora, our employee Vurgun Celebi, and I went somewhere because of a problem with a truck. Boran and Vurgun began to argue. They fought. Vurgun took out his gun. Then Boran took the gun from him and shot him.

Part 3 of 3
Boran and Ecmel start yelling. The judge pounds his gavel. Boran’s disgusting lawyer says that Boran was with Ecmel at the time this happened. The judge’s decision is that Boran will remain in custody because he’s a flight risk. Cuffs go back on Boran. The judge says that the truth will come out at trial.
Ecmel tells Sada she’ll pay for this. Boran glares at his mother. Demir looks on swinging that annoying piece of metal and smiling. [Why’s he smiling? He’s on Ecmel’s team.]
Kaya tells Cihan and Alya listens from the stairs that Sada gave her statement. Boran was arrested and will stand trial. Sada tells Alya she’ll get custody if he’s found guilty. Alya says that she understands how hard this was for Sadakat and thanks her. Deniz opens the door and calls out to Sadakat. He runs downstairs and into her arms. He says that he’s happier at the mansion. He wonders if Papa Boran will be coming back here. Sada lies.
Looking grim again, Cihan tells Muzaffer they have to find that truck driver. [He’s the guy who was to go to Syria with Vurgun and Boran. I think he saw Boran shoot Vurgun.] Muzaffer says the driver crossed the border with the truck and is now in Syria. We’re looking for him.
Sahin tells Nare his world stopped when he thought she’d been hurt. They’re snuggled up in her hospital bed.
Alya and Deniz play some game of testing reflexes where the boy gets to slap her hand if she can’t move it quickly enough. Cihan shows up and tickles Deniz some. Deniz wants them to sleep together. He’ll be in the middle. He asks them some questions. Cihan’s favorite game is fútbol. Both Alya and Cihan’s favorite color is blue. Alya’s favorite dish is menemen with onion (scrambled eggs with onion, tomato and spices). When Deniz falls asleep, Cihan says his neck is twisted and puts it on a pillow. Then he moves to the other side to sleep cuddled up with Alya (clothed of course and with a child chaperone).
Cihan leaves in the morning for Syria to search for the truck driver.
Here comes the bitter pill to spoil an episode where, seemingly, everything went right for our heroes. Pakize wakes Alya. She says that Ecmel is there. Sada and Alya go to the gate. Cihan gets a call from Erol and tells Muzaffer to turn around. The gate is opened. As advertised, there’s Ecmel. But Boran is somehow not in the slammer and looks menacing.
*Cifuentes shoots Big Bald Muscle Dude DEAD on the spot after revealing that BBMD was the one who killed Ismael.
*Rutila, Dalvio, Felina & Co., are getting frustrated with Aurelio's so-called negotiations with Cifuentes.
*Could we see Amanda becoming defacto First Lady of Mexico if Almendariz wins the 2030 presidential election?
*Romina still distracted with Isturiz LOL. Of course, Castillo is pissed off.
*Consuelo & Helena watching the so-called showdown from Primero Banco HQ.
*We see Tata in all black attire. I think it's safe to assume Dalvio told her about Ismael's death? 🤔

Novelera: Gut feeling that the Dodgers will bounce back & win 4 consecutive games against the Brewers to advance to the 2026 World Series Championship: With the Dodgers winning their 10th World Series Championship of course.
First off, thank you K for the splendid romp of a recap of Monday’s episode! I just read it today.
And then thank you Novelera for the equally fun recap of last night’s. I got such a kick out of both
About the missing truck driver: the truck had contraband in it with the idea that the driver and Boran would be arrested at the border. Did that not happen? If the fellow passed into Syria would it not be a good idea to see if the border control nabbed him?
Maggie
This is a question for Dondi. One of the things I don’t like about Deniz is his voice which is of course a voiceover. He speaks way too loudly and always in the same tone. It feels like he’s yelling his lines.
Is the original kid actor speaking like that?

Let's see if this works. It's about a guy making lots of lokma in Istanbul.
I won't be watching Lejos tonight. I will watch tomorrow. I won't even be watching the Brewers beat the Dodgers, because I have to finish my tax return. Thank goodness gor radio. I will do a Wednesday recap after I file our taxes.
Boran's appearance at the end of Tuesday's episode is concerning. Can't be just paying bail cuz Boran is a flight risk. Wonder if Ecmel found the truck driver and bought him off.
So are we back to where we started a couple weeks ago- with Boran taking the boy? I had to laugh at Alya insisting on going to the door with Sadakat to "greet" Ecmel. Alya was kinda worthless in the last gunfight. Sada would be better off taking Ummu and leaving Alya to guard the kitchen.
It's weird that a family that is so prone to gunfights and car crashes is also so deferential to the police. Or maybe that's how they get away with all the gun fights and car crashes and smuggling. But they don't appear to be bribing anyone so the concern every time the police show up is interesting. Does Turkey really have this many guns around?
Maggie- checking with border patrol to find the witness would be a great idea, which is why there is no way they'll do it. Too reasonable and doesn't give them a chance to shoot or crash something.
Menemen is very good. I've actually made that. It's like a Turkish shakshuka. Or shakshuka is Israeli menemen. Whatever. They're both good.
K
Thank you, Dondi. I was so hoping Seyran’s visit to the gym would turn things. Pelin is so mousy in that she acquiesces to anything. Seyran looked really sharp and was assertive in leaving her mother and aunt on her way to the gym. But, Ferit and she still can’t stop this. They so obviously attract one another. Such a contrast with Pelin.
Kazim is enjoying Saffet’s luxurious auto! Kazim is so greedy and Saffet is playing him easily. What a fool Kazim is, I’ve said more than once! I enjoy watching the actor, however. It’s probably much better in his Antep accent in Turkish!
I’ll post 96 sometime this weekend.
Babachita
Howdy from the Alamo City CarayCaray Family. Here's my super-short recap of last night's episode.
*Tata is triggered & pissed off at Aurelio. Of course, we see Isturiz bringing Ismael's ashes to the table for Tata to see; we also see Dalvio holding hands with Tata.
*Rutila & Hothead Diana both consoling Tata.
*Alfaro meets with Dalila inside her large office at the Mexican ATF Headquarters.
Thanks, dondi. ITA on it being hard to feel sorry for Seyran. And once again she hits him and apparently still holds a grudge over his non-slap. She got what she wanted, having him tell her face to face that he was getting married. While marrying Pelin is a stupid thing to do, what did she expect? Why is he not a man for marrying someone he doesn't love while she did the same thing? And she was shocked the divorce hearing was so soon. She burned her bridges.
Sigh. Why does she take calls from Yusuf? And he wanted to tell her in person? Does he still think he has a chance?
It seems more likely the divorce will happen, perhaps in the next episode.
Halis seems to have lost all feelings for his family. Orhan is not a prince, and I keep waiting for Halis to discover Orhan moved money out of the company for IIRC a venture of his own. But who talks to their child that way?
It's hard to stand the satisfied smirks of Ifakat and Zerrin. Are there anvils in dizis? You can always count on a TN to provide a good one. But dizis last so long that Viewerville sees evildoers winning for months.

Series 2, Episode 65 - Part 1
"No hay alternativa" There is no other course of action
Rewind: Ecmel and his entourage show up at the konak while Cihan is gone. Sadakat and Alya to out to meet him. Ecmel reveals he has brought Boran! How did Ecmel get Boran out? Ecmel got to the truck driver, and got him to say that he, the truck driver, killed Vurgun, and the truck driver left with the fired gun. Ecmel took the truck driver to the cops.
And Boran says he has custody and he wants the boy. Sirens are heard. The cops arrive with the court workers. Sadakat and Alya have to let the court officials in. Alya and Boran talk. Boran, having still a little love for his son, says he will let Deniz stay with Alya on condition that she leave Cihan and not marry Cihan.
Cihan arrives back home and arguments ensue with Ecmel and Boran. Alya says she accepts Boran's terms. After an argument, Alya finally tells Cihan she can't marry him. Cihan is upset, thinking about himself instead of thinking about Deniz like Alya is.
Cihan (somehow) knows that Ecmel gave Vurgun's gun to the truck driver and had the truck driver turn himself in to the police. Cihan leaves for the police station. Alya gets into a vehicle and follow him. Others also get into a vehicle and follow.
On the way, Alya gets a call from Erol. Alya's custody appeal was denied. She can now try the civil court, a long process with no guarantee of success.
Cihan catches up with Boran and Ecmel. There is a short gun battle and an exchange of threats. At some point Cihan punches Boran in the gut.
Alya, having driven herself to this encounter, now rides away with Cihan. They have it out about her choice to have Deniz live with her, giving up Cihan. Alya tells Cihan that they have to stay apart at a distance. She and Deniz will leave the mansion. She wants an apartment and a school for Deniz. She wants to fend for herself. She doesn't even want Pakize for childcare. (She will regret not having household help while she goes to work!)

S2, E65 - Part 2
The truck driver is being held at the police station. Erol tells Cihan that he, Erol, is being kept from going in to see the truck driver to convince the driver to tell the truth. Outside the police station, Ecmel harrasses Erol.
At the mansion, there is a family conference. It is announced that Alya is leaving the mansion. Sadakat agrees that it is the right thing to do.
Cihan calls a meeting with Muzaffer, Kadir and Kaya down in the man cave. Cihan flashes back to Boran expressing concern about the Bulgarians. Cihan wonders what the Bulgarian issue was about. Cihan says out loud that he is facing a man who had no trouble killing, without blinking, a man who took care of him. Now it's time to figure out what the Bulgarian angle is. They still have Vurgun's things, as they didn't turn them over to the police. Start by going through those things thoroughly.
Cihan's office calls. There is a problem with Customs on one of their shipments. Cihan muses it's probably an issue instigated by Ecmel.
Cihan, Deniz and Alya plan a movie night together that evening. As Cihan leaves, he tells Alya not to tell Deniz about their move yet.
Sahin heads to the house where Ecmel is staying. He wants Ecmel to have the truck driver admit the truth. A nasty argument ensues, and Fidan arrives to break it up.
Nare and Alya are at the hospital and are talking. Sadakat arrives and discusses Boran. She says Boran's pain is the pain of living in the shadow of his brother. Boran knew there was always something tainted about himself, without knowing what it was (Ecmel being his father). Sadakat believes Boran asked Cihan to marry Alya as a sort of revenge. Boran knew that Cihan would not touch his dead brother's wife, and this would hurt him. But this revenge plan failed because Alya ended up loving Cihan deeper than she had ever loved Boran, and Boran couldn't handle that. Boran fell into despair and the despair turned him into a monster. - End episode.
Telemundo is indicating that Lejos will be pre-empted on Monday, October 19. El Senor de Los Cielos will be shown at 9pm Central after the three-hour season finale of Top Chef VIP.
Lejos will also be pre-empted on Thursday, October 22 for the Latin Billboard Awards.
