MEPS - Thursday, June 25, 2009, Love is So Near Yet So Far Away Again, Cap. 93

Bosco asks FrEd if he’s sorry he left Eduardo behind or stopped being Eduardo Juarez. No, says Ed, he thinks he did the right thing. He’s dedicated himself to investigating all the clues his mother left behind before her death. He would do it again to the death. Do you remember the name of the person who condemned all the others to death. Yes, says the padre, Artemio Bravo. FrEd pulls out the Birth Certificate and shows it to the padre and tells him to read it.

At Grupo Lactos, Ani is having another hissy fit over Fer’s hiring Flor. Gonzo says that Flor has been a long-time employee. Bar and Fer walk in and Barb spits out that Lili fled the cuckoo’s nest. Ani grabs Fer’s arm and wants to know what she thinks she’s doing. She stands up to him and tells him what he’s been doing has been arbitrary and catastrophic. She reminds him that Franco Santoro has saved their asses, walks around Barb and throws in a few words about their sister Lili being locked up in a loony bin for fifteen years while the only family she had worked very hard to cover up and protect the family name and that they’re all a bunch of shameless nobodies. Gonzo breaks up the fight and reminds them they are brother and sister. Ani keeps it up and says the only one of her siblings she likes is Santi. He also has to remind her that she made a big mistake by bringing her “husband” into the family.

Barb chimes in that maybe Damian didn’t really take the money. Fer says what did you say Barb. Barb now comes up with her new lines that there has been a mistake. Gonzo validates it. They were just too judgmental with Damian.

Meanwhile Barb has sent emails to Damian assuring him that there is no trap. He is wearing a dark shirt opened to the third button. It’s just enough for us to get a peek at his manly chest hair. Anyway, he sits down at the computer presumably to reply to Barb.

At Pueblo San Rafael, Padre Bosco asks FrEd where he got the birth certificate. FrEd says it came from a box that his mother left for Lili and that it contains the secret of the feud. FrEd had hoped that Padre Bosco could help him decipher this enigma. What could his mother have meant by this? The mother’s name is Gregoria Bravo. The good padre cannot help him. Ed says don’t tell me that. He doesn’t believe the padre. He insists that the father come forward with info. He finally asks if the bad is stronger than the good.

Flor runs in to tell Fer about messages, one of which is from Franco Santoro. He wants her to return his call. A gentleman, whom Fer calls Licenciado, enters with an architect’s tube. He has the plans for the project. He opens them up and tells her that he drew them up according to her instructions. She wants to know when they can start construction. He says just say the word. They could probably complete it within eight months. He goes over all the buildings with her.

Barb sees a message on her computer from Damian. He wants to meet her at Los Remedios at ten tonight. She agrees. The editor assumes that Los Remedios is a dark, creepy, slimy place where witches and other wicked people go to do their dirty work.

Father Bosco says that Ana Gregorio registered the birth of her son in Villa Madera. No father was named and the witnesses do not appear to be related to the mother. The mystery grows deeper. FrEd offers that from the information (datos) on the certificate Ana Gregorio was a humble person. He says the birth certificate tells them nothing. Duh! Father says that if anyone can tell them about her it would be Silvestre Tinoco who is practically blind because he has a mind like a steel trap. We are being dragged around in circles. But, the good padre says that Silvestre knew his mother and all the rest of the people in the area.

Fer is very satisfied with the plans and the Licenciado says she won’t be disappointed. This calls for a little screaming and cheerleading by Flo and Fer, that is, until Barb comes in and throws a cold wet blanket over the scene and politely invites Flor to leave. What a surprise Fer says to Bar. Bar tells her that she and Daffy Dad have noticed the ill will between her and Ani. What else, says Fer, who just can’t stand being in the same room with Bar. Bar also tell Fer that she and Gonzo are fully aware of the mistake they made regarding Damian. They want to fix things. Fer wants to know how they figured out they made a mistake. Barb goes into her little speech about the accounts being switched. Fer asks the big questions – so how do you know Damian is innocent?

Barb continues weaving her newly created lie and adds a few tidbits about how hard-headed Anibal is and that surely Damian feared reprisals. I get the feeling Fer isn’t buy this pile of trash. Fer continues asking Barb about the charges against Damian and of course Barb tells her that just this morning she, at Daffy Dad’s order, withdrew the charges against Damian. Barb wants Fer to accompany her tonight at ten and the only thing she’ll tell her is it is very important and deals with her future. Fer holds back. Bar promises her that she won’t be sorry if she goes. Fer asks if it has something to do with her husband and Barb finally says yes. Fer says you know how it is to do something for Damian. Yes, but she can’t say until tonight. It’s just between her and Fer. Nobody else knows. Barb says it’s in a restaurant at ten and seals the deal.

The loud half of the Odd Couple is yelling into the phone at the meek half who will inherit the earth. Damian tells Vlad to get to the apartment with Pris right away. Guess who walks in – dear Ani. Vlad thinks quick on his feet. He tells Ani there is just a trivial problem. Ani says that Prolasa has found out that one of their employees has been passing company secrets to the competition. Anibal wants to know who Flor’s accomplice has been I guess since it was Vlad who fingered her. He’s also still and probably will be until the end of time bent out of shape over Fer’s hiring Flor.

Barb gives the kiss of death to Fer as she leaves. Just as Barb is about to walk out Fer asks her if she has reported Lili’s disappearance to the authorities. Barb says yes. Barb says the authorities have told them not to say a word about it to anyone. They think, says Barb, that Lili’s disappearance, along with Obregon’s letter, points to a kidnapping. So what are you going to do. Be patient and wait for the time to rescue her.

We are now privy to the private thoughts of Padre Bosco. The poor man is tormented by the pickle he’s in. He’s damned if he does and damned if doesn’t. (He’s repeating the priest’s lines that we hear in every novela.) The words of Artemio Bravo repeat in his head. FrEd asks him what’s up. Does it have anything to do with me? Padre assures FrEd he wouldn’t do anything to hurt him. FrEd doesn’t want to be a burden on the padre. The padre asks for his forgiveness. FrEd wants to know what he’s talking about, but the padre’s lips are sealed. The padre tells him never to return here. What, says FrEd? Never return. This will be our good by. FrEd is shocked.

Aurora leaves the mansion and goes to the chapel. None other than Camilo is lurking in the bushes.

The padre continues telling FrEd he is sorry and that he can’t have anything more to do with this mystery. Faking his death was the best thing he could have done, but the padre cannot explain anything to him and that he shouldn’t come back. FrEd is willing to do as asked and starts to leaves. FrEd has one final question – If a marriage is obtained via fraud is it valid?

Flip to Fer on the computer. She thoughtbubbles what is Barb up to up to? What interest does Barb have in her marriage?

Meanwhile Bar fills Gonzo in on how she has gained Fer’s confidence and that it wasn’t easy.

El padre wants to know if FrEd is referring to the marriage of Fernanda Elizalde. He carries on that what God has put together, no man can separate. FrEd says is that your answer? The padre says that his answer will not be up to FrEd’s expectations. FrEd is exasperated. The padre keeps giving FrEd the company line, yadda , yadda. FrEd finally tells the padre that the marriage of Fernanda and Damian can’t be blessed by God.

Now Daffy Dad and Bar discuss Lili. He can’t get Lili out of his head. Neither can Bar. I just wonder how Bar keeps track of all the balls she’s juggling. Anyway, Gonzo goes on to ask her what would be the best course to follow. Barb lays out her kidnapping plan – but, Gonzo says what if Obregon really didn’t kidnap her????

Back to FrEd and Padre Bosco. FrEd intends to continue finding the answer to his question and the padre will help him to the extent he can. They will remain friends from a distance. The padre gives FrEd his blessing at great length.

Heavenly music is playing in the chapel where Aurora prays to the Virgin Mary for the soul of Dominga. Hell’s bells ring as Camilo enters contritely carrying a bouquet of flowers that he prayerfully places in front of his mother’s niche. Aurora goes to leave, but he calls her and points out that his mother has been dead fifteen years. He’s still feels sad like a little kid. Sweet little Aurora offers her sympathy – he’s like Santiago. Camilo chokes on that. Camilo asks her to keep this a secret. She tells Cam that Santi went to the city. He says Santi should take better care of her. But, she’ll never leave him; she loves him more than anything.

Fer talks to Franco – they have a lot to talk about. They’ll meet at Lili’s.

Mama and Damian talk. She’s there to give him advice and he wants her to leave. She says Fer is his salvation – so go for it. She loves him. And please take her advice. He walks her to the door, shoves her drink in her face and forces her out the door. He actually thought bubbles that he can’t lose “Peque”.

Pris and Vlad run into each other in Lactos’ lobby. He tells her they have to go talk to Damian. She says she’s there to talk to Anibal – he says later. He takes her arms and begs her to pay attention to him. She reminds him that her name is Priscila. None other than Flor comes upon this little scene and remains discreetly in the background. They can’t wait – it’s a matter of minutes. She doesn’t want any part of him or his problem. He then tells her that if they don’t go to the apartment, Damian will give them up. Finally, she leaves with Vlad. Flor follows.

Aurora has a candle in a glass that she lights and then kneels down and starts to pray. This candle is to light Dominga’s way. Ghostly sound effects fill the room leaving Aurora holding her ears. She opens the door to the bath and runs out screaming and is followed by a black crow. She runs outside and a person covered in black mourning leaves the bathroom. If this is the new maid, I don’t recognize her.

Flor hails a cab and tells the cabbie to follow that car and not to lose it. He wants to know if it’s her husband.

Fer arrives at Lili’s and is greeted by Martina in her mini uniform. Enter Franco. Exit Martina. Fer tells him she went to the clinic with Barbara and tries to describe to him the look on Bar’s face when she read Obregon’s letter. They are both amused. Fer then tells him that supposedly her family has reported Lili’s disappearance to the police, but that Bar insists it’s a kidnapping.

Aurora is beside herself when none other who should appear but Barb. Remember you told me I could confide in you. Of course, my pretty, come to the library with me.

Fer has to explain the Bar situation to Franco again. Bar says they have to await a call from Obregon – so that they can presumably pay the ransom. Only they know the truth that they have Lily in a safe place. Fer is a bit perplexed about what they will do in the face of a police investigation. Not to worry says Franco. It’s simple. Follow Bar – we’re all waiting for Obregon’s call.

Bar wants to know why Aurora is so afraid. Aurora gives her the dirty details. Bar wants to know if Aurora believes in the supernatural. Bar tells Aurora that if she wants her help, Aurora can’t hold back anything – no secrets, nada. She yells at Aurora – what are you hiding. Barb expects Aurora to confess her love affair with Artemio Bravo!

At San Rafael Padre Bosco speaks to Soledad’s crypt and about the promise he made to her to protect her son and that now Artemio Bravo has put a monkey wrench in that promise. He has failed her so much and asks forgiveness.

Fer asks Franco for a favor – she tells him that tonight she has a meeting but she doesn’t know what’s it about. His cell rings. He answers – it’s Padre Bosco who tells him to go to a private place to talk. He tells FrEd that Soledad wanted him to leave this place and now he’s knee deep in investigations. It’s very dangerous and that he’s not only putting his life in danger, but the lives of others, too. FrEd looks at Fer. FrEd wants to know why the padre decided to tell him this now. The padre says that the enemy is everywhere. It a real threat, a threat against you and everyone you love. Pay attention – don’t come here, and stop asking questions. Your enemy could be someone you think is an ally.

FrEd immediately looks pensively at Fer who looks pensively back at him.

Avances: Damian “asks” Pris and Vlad if Bar has set a trap for him tonight. Ed is confused and confuses Fer. Fer goes to the “date” with Bar.

Someone, please post this for me. Thanks.

Martina's nursie outfit cracks me up, it's what you'd expect the fetishists to request at a house of ill repute.

The woman in black is the maid who brought the fresh towels to Abora just before the first appearance of sangre en el espejo. Bitch Babs has no doubt hired her to terrorize Abora.

I just love how lower class Dominga just happens to be buried in a crypt near the upper class Montserrat. Only in novela land.

Dona Griguita

Thanks Pasofino, nothing too new in this episode. I thought it was interesting that Fern's new construction would take 8 months to complete - if I understood that correctly. I wonder if we'll see the finished building.

Also wondering how Damian is going to explain Barbie's rescue, after he accused her of setting him up. Maybe he'll use Barbie's continual excuse of 'misunderstandings' and blah, blah, blah, it away like she does with everything.

Fernanda did a great job of showing us her disgust, while not pulling away when Barbie hugs and pets her.

Abora I'm liking less and less. But, I'm liking plucky Flor more and more...

Pasofino: thanks SO much for the recap. Long stretches of rapid fire dialogue & little action leave me in the dark...I just can't keep up. Thank goodness there's appropriate background music to tell me when it's a good conversation vs. an evil one (ok, I'm exaggerating a little but you know what I mean).

Oh Abora...you are in it deep now, my pretty (ha! I liked that one, PF!) & NaranHo's little drool scene before sliming her in the chapel was creepy. And Babs will protect you & before you know it, you'll be Lili Redux.

I feel so sorry for Padre B. Why do they like to torture old men? Where's the guy at the bottom of the hill? C'mon...give me a little plot continuity!

So Babs is cooking to reunite Nanda with Damn, which means we'll be subjected to a few more episodes of nooky avoidance to make sure the marriage stays unconsummated & delay the Fr/Ed deflowering scenes they tease us with in the closing credits. Oy.

TGIF!
Maggarita
:-X

p.s. Boys: real breasts move, fake ones don't. Real breasts don't defy gravity. Real breasts don't look like grapefruit halves.

Thanks, Paso, fine recap. The youtube version for the final segment was actually the final segment when AB walked in to Rumpole's office, so didn't see Rumpole calling Eddy, etc. I thought that the old guy said goodbye, we can't see each other again. Beanie slip.

Martina's nurse outfit- why?

Why is Babs evasive with Fer about the meeting? Fer should arm herself, suspicious as she must be about Babs' intentions. I think that Damian would really like to, and might try to pick up the pieces of his life. I tell you, he cares for Fer (can you blame him?). He's sure got some 'spainin to do about his disappearance.

That silly Abora isn't buying into Cad's "charms" is she? She is raelly stupid, poor Santi for having fallen for this baggage handler.

Who would have guessed that the old blind blacksmith would hav ethe answers to questions about AB. Small world, this is going to be interesting.

Pasofino - thank you for the recap, and the snarky comments. Loved the one about Damian's shirt buttons. LOL

I still have my money on FrEd being somehow related to Artemio Bravo, perhaps a son. What else could "The Secret" be??? Unless Gonzo and Artemio were swapped babies.

What's up with Barbara's coat dresses? Did Macy's have a sale? They look like real coats, to me. At least the newest one isn't faux fur. I get overheated just looking at them. Nobody else is bundled up like that.

Dominga is buried in the Elizalde crypt? Hhhmmm...... I missed that, as I FFWD--> through anything with Aurora in it.

Pasofino, a very good and amusing recap of a less than griping episode. I would have enjoyed seeing a little more of Venus' makeover and shopping spree. It seemed to me that Father Rumpole and Eddie used a lot of words to say very little. I'm more than ready for the party. It is also so painful to watch Camilo work his spell on Aurora. That girl is just not all there. Oh well,Momma Nature has a way of removing the weak sisters from the herd; it's just not pretty to watch.

Carlos

Thanks for the great recap Pasofino. I missed the last 5 minutes because I fell asleep.

I just love Fernanda's reactions to Babs. You can see she's really starting to hate her and see through all her smokescreens.

Was that the same crow from FELS? I wonder how much he gets paid per episode! :-P

Cadmil-ho--creepy.

Abora--Again snore--she's going to have something really bad happen to her if she doesn't get her head out of her butt.

Why is Babs telling Nanda the meeting is at a restaurant? Wasn't it at some out of hte way place? I wasn't following it very well.

I missed the first half of this, so when I saw Abora praying for Dominga I thought there had already been another incident that pointed specifically to Dominga. But nope. Babs had earlier hinted that maybe it was her mother's desperate soul; maybe Abora should have been praying for Rebeca Sanchez!

Pasofino, for some reason I now have a mental picture of Padre Bosco being tormented by a giant pickle. That's not exactly what you wrote, but that's how I'm going to remember it. ;-)

And I know this next remark is going to be a little late, but, in two separate episodes (not last night) Esteve has said to someone, "give me five." People still high-five once in a while, sure, but do they ever say "give me five"? I think they just say "high five" now, if anything at all. (Usually you just put your hand up.)

In the olden days, like the 70s, I think we said "slap me five."

But that's fine. It's part of his odd charm. :-)

Did Abora see the lady in the black thing or just the crow? She opened the door and the crow came out but I don't think she saw the maid. What do you all think?

Thanks for the recap Pasofino. And thanks for yesterdays Jody.

Like others I was wondering how Dominga got in the family crypt. I'm also waiting for the poor old man Barb attempted to kill to show up (dead or alive).

ITA with Carlos on Aurora. She's so dense but it is still painful watching her be played with as if she's a mouse and Barb and Cam are the cats. I'm with Doris and have to FF through her scenes.

Connie: I don't think Abora saw the maid in the very clever cloak of invisibility that the maid stole from Harry Potter. Almost FELS-like, wasn't it?

Maggarita

Yes Maggarita, very much like FELS except she wasn't wailing and saying donde esta mi hija. If you saw the "ghost" wouldn't you pull off the cloak thing or ask it what the heck it is doing in your bathroom. One time when I was in jr high school my friends took me to a haunted house. Some guy came up behind me and grabbed me and I turned around and punched him in the face.

thanks for the recap...Aurora makes me wonder if there r really women as dumb as her out there.... i hope not.....did she forget about the affair Babs had with damian...that she witnessed outside the window???how can she trust babs? the maid is the one that brought the towels to aurora when santi brought her back home ...
dominga is not buried in the family crypt..... Aurora is just praying to the virgincita in there.... to many things r going on right now kinda of confusing...but i am sure they all tie in together........ we wondered what Sylvestre Tinoco had to do with anything...now we know...he knows about the old folks and who was who.......lets see whats going to happen.....BN in CA

Connie, I don't know whether Abora saw the maid, really, I don't give a rat's sphincter, she is sooo dulll. I really hope that they spark that character up, she's such a downer.

I'm with BN inCA, I don't think that Dominga is buried there, just a convenient place for Aborme to pray, so she doesn't have to go to town with Santi, so that she can be seduced by Cad and tormented by the ghost-in-waiting, and go crying to her mommy. zzzzzz

Oh Connie, it just dawned on me, that new show un Gancho al Corazon would be right up your alley. Monita, the main cutie is a boxer with a bit of a short fuse. Last night she decked(as in KOed)a horny gringo who hit on her. At least you might think about dropping over and reading the recap. It so far is one of the funniest TNs I've seen.

Connie, I'm with you...& I love your style! I once smacked a guy who reached over to remove a piece of lint from my blouse (yes, it was in the breast area, natch). Abora is hopeless...& depressing in her passivity.

Maggarita
[pow!]

Pasofino, great job! I had to watch the You Tube version and your recap provided lots of missing details.

One thing I meant to mention yesterday about the previous episode, before I involved myself in the Gardenia discussions, is how sweet the exchange between Lili and Fer was when Eduardo was mentioned and Lili said, "he's here," and then Fer took that to mean that Eduardo was with them in a spiritual sense. That was a very dear moment. Lili's Eduardo knowledge most likely will lead to other interesting exchanges between them and will be fun to watch.

Sandy in TN

Sandy, I liked that exchange too. Does Lili even know that Eduardo is supposed to be Franco? She's very confused already, so won't she be wondering why everyone calls him Franco?

Jacqueline J.

Sandy, I agree with you. (Did I just admit that I agree with Sandy?) Sisterly conversations perfectly understood by each over the same topic(Eddie), yet with neither comprehending what the other actually said.

Carlos

Jacqueline,

It is a little hard to remember back that far, but I don't think Lili knows any other name for FrEd than Eduardo. She was the only one, I think, that recognized Eduardo when he arrived back home, and as you said, she has been too confused for explanations. Yes, I think that there will be many interesting exchanges around this story line!!

Sandy in TN

Carlos,

I have agreed with everything you've ever said, except your "stance" on Gardenia.....but all in fun!!

Sandy in TN

Thanks Carlos. I'll have to check it out.

Maggarita, I don't blame you. I know a guy that does that too. Really pisses me off. I usually back away.

Sandy, I know, thanks.

Carlos

Woweewow. Thanks , Pasofina , for that great recap. I especially enjoyed the ''hell's bells'' ringing as Cad oozes into the chapel . Watching The Big Bad [Tangerine-colored] Wolf actually licking his chops at the sight of Adorable Bambi crying in the chapel was uncomfortable. Bleccchhh. This show is getting more and more like The Fractured Fairytales that I enjoyed so much on the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show. Julie~~~I loved your magazine covers. You are one clever chick. As someone mentionned, they have a Mad magazine vibe. My fav was the one featuring Dam looking spiffy and pompous. I would definitely buy that issue. Connie~~~Re: Diego in Alborada : He is from Puerto Rico and has been in other novelas , but I have only seen him in Alborada and on Cristina after Alborada was over. [He had a crewcut and appeared to be very smiley and energetic , and he and Dona Juana danced...They are both fantastic dancers. FC would not dance although Don Juana tried her best to get him to shake-it-baby-shake-it. FC always seems kind of shy on the talk shows. Lucero also danced and sang a bit on that show.] The guy who played Martin is Valentino Lanus who was the leading man in Amar sin Limites and he was also in Tontas. The EvilMaid played Manuel's sweet servant in Amor Real. I think Adorable did see her in the bathroom. If Adorable thinks The Lady in Black is Dominga, I'm thinking that death becomes her. She has slimmed down nicely. So since wardrobe is always under discussion here, what are you planning to wear to the BIG PARTAY ?? I'm thinking capris, teeshirt, and flipflops. I'm going for comfort, so I'll pass on dresses with big bows or a nurse's [NOT] uniform. By the way, when I caught up on the 4 episodes I missed while out to sea, I was amazed at how many comments my old Brownie uniform received. I started humming some old Brownie tunes [''Make new friends but keeeppppeeeppp the oldddd; one is silver and the other's goldddd.''] and craving a S'more. Seriosly, where am I and where's my sleeping bag ??????

P.S. Connie~~~Loved the Haunted House tale. Girl, I want to sit next to you. You remind me so much of my high school friend The Remarkable Mary Jane who could also make the boys cry....in so many ways. I usually stood right behind her. Gee, maybe I was Adorable Bambi back in the day.

The thing about Abora is that I used to be just like her! Shy, overprotected, afraid of my own shadow. People would push me around, take advantage of me (of course I didn't realize it at the time). Somewhere during my 2nd marriage I developed a spine. So now I look back on it and it makes me sick. I'm really very nice but hate it when people are bullied and pushed around. I taught my daughter no to put up with a ny of that **** and she does pretty well.

When I went to a haunted house when I was in high school I didn't punch anyone, I just laughed.

Great recap, Pasofino!

I'm getting the feeling the writers are not really bothering too much with loose ends (the note Gardenia had at the start, the envelope left for Fr/Ed at AB's office, the fact that Aurora saw Babs and Damian) are just a few that come to mind. They're just yanking our chain one way, then another, and we all follow along like dutiful puppies. Works for me!

You know, if Damian is innocent, then he doesn't need Vlad anymore, and Vlad wouldn't need to work at Lactos anymore, because he wouldn't need access to documents, and Damian wouldn't have to threaten to rat out Vlad and Pris, and Barb probably couldn't blame him again, since she just cleared him, and just why does AB want Damian back, anyway?

Sorry, I temporarily forgot I was just a puppy on a chain.

Jacqueline J., “Does Lili even know that Eduardo is supposed to be Franco? She's very confused already, so won't she be wondering why everyone calls him Franco?”

My beanie doesn’t filter out the frustration with this plot discontinuity at all. I guess we’re supposed to believe that Lil never wonders why everyone else calls him Franco. And she only mentioned his real name to Fer once. AND, he didn’t come up with some way to explain the name discrepancy, knowing it’s bound to be an issue sooner or later. He could have just told everyone that she calls him Eduardo because she’s confused. But, what would be the reason he would give Lil for everyone else calling him Franco. PULEEEEZE! I need a beanie adjustment!

I guess Damian is going to say he disappeared because of the “false” accusations. He’ll say he could never have won against Barb and the Elizades. How is Barb going to explain being able to get in touch with him so easily?

Well, Homber de Misterio just said it. “We’re puppies on a chain.” And summed it up well: “You know, if Damian is innocent...”

--Beth

"How is Barb going to explain being able to get in touch with him so easily?" ----- I think everyone on MEPS is wearing a telenovela beanie hat.

Hey, if Camilo is the Horse Screecher, does that make Aurora the Ghost Screecher?

Aborme would be the ghost "Whimperer"

Ha! So true Dorado Dave!

Thank you, Pasofino, for your always fun recaps.

Beth, you brought up a great point on how Damian will know to come in from the cold without revealing that Babs contacted him. Maybe they'll splash his and Nanda's wedding photo on the evening news and tabloids again but this time telling him "so sorry, my bad." GinCA (who actually prefers tequila.)

Connie, you crack me up!
;-}
Carlos, ROFL about how Mother Nature removes the weak sisters from the herd...
jb

I think it was funny how at one point when Fr/Ed was talking with the padre on the phone and padre says "don't trust anyone", Fr/Ed looks over at Fernanda on the couch and she is just scratching her elbow, totally in another world and then looks up at him with a "huh?" look. Very natural and funny.

I think the Lili understanding the Franco/Ed thing has been hit on a couple of times in the beginning. At the manicomio and also when Lili went home briefly. Remember her questions about the picture of Fr/Ed? I think Fr/Ed has just gotten tired of explaining to her since it never seems to stick.

-Vivi in DC

Brilliant, DD! Ghost Whimperer it is!

Why does everyone find Aurora so irritating? She was brought up by nuns and abused terribly by Dominga. She is naive and unworldly. Why she doesn't have post-traumatic stress disorder is a mystery to me. I think her character makes sense. But having missed a number of episodes, I am not sure why Barbara is gas-lighting her. Why would it matter to her if Aurora really did have sex with Artemio Bravo? Can someone fill me in on Barbara's motivation. (Is it just to destroy the whole family by destroying Santiago who loves Aurora?)
NJ sue

P.S.:What I meant to say at the end was --is Barbara trying to destroy Aurora and thus santiago, and have one more Elizalde victim in her plot to bring them all down?
NJ sue

NJ Sue I'll try to answer your inquiry about why everybody is so hard on Abora. When this subject was brought up ages ago, Aurora's supporters thought that maybe if we understood that she's been abused by Dominga, and that she's motherless, etc., then maybe we would find her character intriguing instead of boring. No such luck. The good Lord helps those who helps themselves and Abora sets herself up for attracting disaster better than a magnet. If you've been following the comments, it seems that although God made women the weaker sex, he made up for it by giving us survival skills. Pity gets boring afterawhile.

Sue, I usually am never lacking in opinions about characters but Aurora has remained an enigma to me. Her character continues making one bad decision after another. She is like one of those beached whales that after extraordinary efforts by concerned humans to get get them headed back out to the safety of the ocean, insist on turning back and thrustin themselves back onto the beach and certain death. She seems to have zero survival instinct. Santi offers safety and happiness, yet she seems to be drawn into the clutches of Camilo and Babs like a suicidal mth toward a deadly flame. I refuse to invest any concern for this crippled sickly deer. For the good of the species she needs to be eliminated before she can reproduce. Let survival of the fittest work it's will. I just hate that we have to watch. Gardenia, annoying as she may be fo some, at least has survival instinct in spades. Carlos

Carlos --- Well said!!! (re: Aurora)

Rue, I read your post after finishing my heartless rant. May I say, well said? Carlos

Let's see then...Barb thinks that Adorable is Art's lover, so she probably thinks that she has come into Barb's universe to spy on her. Hence, Barb's wrath. Barb does not seem to realize that Adorable is the fruit of her loins. Are we on the right path thinking that Art is the baby daddy ? If so, that would make Santi and Adorable kissing cousins unless Gonz is not Santi's biological daddy. Also, we now know that Fr'ed may be able to get some info from Sylvestre who was around back in the day when all the secrets were being created. That means that Fr'ed will be knocking on poor Syl's door asking a lot of questions because Padre Bosco just keeps stomewalling him.

Well said Rue and Carlos!

Sue, I for one have been giving Aurora some slack because of the circumstances of her birth and childhood. But, if she continues to ignore the red flags that have been shooting her way, I'll have to join the others who have lost patience with her. By accident, she knows more than many others in MEPS land, but she doesn't seen to be able to put 2 + 2 together. She was the first to see Bab's true character, but has either forgotten or has chosen to sit on this information. She needs to begin assert herself or she will be more of a victim than she ever was with Dominga.

Waiting patiently for Aurora to wake up....

NJ Sue, Babs really seems to be irked by the relationship that she thinks Aurora had with Bravo.

I don't think Babs has explained why it bothers her, but
I believe that Babs is JEALOUS because the so-called "mustia infeliz" managed to get away from Bravo, while brilliant Babs remains in his power. I guess I'd be jealous too!

I'm still hoping that Aurora makes smart decisions soon. However, while I was cruisin' the Univision website a few days ago looking for that Daffy Daddy picture, I saw was a big feature on telenovela damsels in distress who need a caballero to rescue them. Not surprisingly, the poster child for this story was Aborya. (No, I didn't read it. I don't know if there would be spoilers or not, but I'd rather wait with hope than risk having those hopes dashed prematurely.)

So glad the crow is getting more work, he's probably a SAG member.

Is this far fetched or what? No one else sees the grim reaper dragging chains & a crow flying around?

Padre has given us sth to think about. Eduardo's enemy might seem like an ally. Well his closest allies are Esteve & Jacinto & it's hard to believe either one of them would be against Fr/Ed.

Jeez, I reread my posting and realize rhat I sound more like the evil Dr. Mendele than kindly Dr. Carlos. If it were only her lethal lassitude we are dealing with I would be pulling for her, but she seems almost self-destructive. She at least needs to dig down and find at least a spark of self-preservation. At least reflect on the facts you already have at hand darlin'. Carlos

There was a sale on at leasts, sorry. Using the cell phone makes proofreading almost impossible. Carlos

Carlos, I think your rant was right on! Abora is a very close relative of those teenaged girls in slasher flicks who always get offed by Jason in the hockey mask. You know the kind of gal I mean; the one who descends into the dark cellar with the spooky music playing.

All I want out of Aurora is to tell Santi what she's seen and what Babs has said. That's all I ask. Just that one thing. I want her to give her novio, who has never ever let her down, AT LEAST as much trust as she's given to the woman who had sex with Fernanda's husband on their wedding night.

(Thanks for the heads-up on that "at least" sale, Carlos!)

That's it. If Aurora can do that one thing for me, I'll give her a pass on any new dumb thing she does, ever.

Julie, ¡Sí! ¡Eso es! Gracias,Chula. Carlos

I think Fernanda was about to tell Fr/Ed that Damian was coming back in the picture when Padre called. That is going to lead to the 1st mistrust split.

Aurora will tell about Babs & Damian after it's too late to do any good.

But Flor is going to do the right thing by telling Fernanda what she saw & that will lead to Vlad getting into trouble & maybe Flor exonerated.

I must say that I think La Hiena's haunted house routine might work in order to scare Aborea into telling her what she wants to know.

"You know the kind of gal I mean; the one who descends into the dark cellar with the spooky music playing."
You'd think those girls would hear that music, then turn around and get out of there! (LOL)

Very late to the party on this episode. Thanks for the recap, Pasofino. Lots of great comments, especially the analysis of wimpy Abora. She kinda makes me want to sneak into her room with a bottle of red paint.

Muchas gracias, Pasofino, por el recap maravilloso.

Carlos, I don't think I'll ever be able to look at Aurora again without thinking about the beached whale. What a great comparison!
