PEAM #73- 6/19/13: This Is A Long Story That I Wish Was Shorter!
Recap by Pablo
Labels: Manda
Thanks so much for this fab recap, it is even better than the epi was.
Sebas needs to go, like yesterday. He owes Rogue, so freaking what! He needs to get a life and leave Alma alone. Why doesn't he pay Rogue back himself, instead of basically forcing her to marry as someone said yesterday.
Instead of telling everyone else how they feel why aren't Chucho and Alma telling each other? Hmmmm...
I am glad Chucho finally told Vero he is in love with Alma, NOT HER. It's about time she knew!
What was Marta wearing? Que the hell was that? Are the feathers coming back as a fashion statement, don't tell me, It's El Tal all over again, lol.
Best part of the epi, when Rogue was arrested, yay! It's about time. I hope he's in there for awhile, lets see how Sebas likes them apples. What will Alma do when she finds out what he is charged with, whatever the charges are.
I had to laugh at Sanson with the lasso, he dropped it and the guy had to pick it up, too funny.
I had to laugh at Chatita too for falling asleep during dinner and Panfilo calling her name, lol.
Pablo, I know this crazy telenovela drives you nuts, but I am so glad you are recapping it.
Mads, so funny that you mentioned the feathers because I think they are still alive and well. I am reminded of El Tal about five times a day, and let me tell you that in a hot climate feathers will stick to your neck. Just sayin'. No, it is not I who am wearing the feathers in case you were wondering.
Thanks Pablo!
Your "species names" were hysterical, my favorite being Vero's "pretentious bitchus". I just love how your mind works. And..Oh no she didn't--but yes she did. Vero once again used her little girl on one of her snatch Chucho scheme. As I promised yesterday, I about imploded, but had to reign in slightly since I had the new kitty on my lap. The "pb" wasn't worth scaring the poor thing. I did that later when the Blackhawks scored--THAT was worth it.
So glad Chucho put her in her place, but is it going to sink in? As for Alma with her melt down--yeah that was fakey ugly, but hey, it's a comedy so we can cut Blanca some slack. I always love how in TN's they make the plot that when the girl can't get the guy she wants, she settles for someone else. NEVER do they put out there, hey about the single scene for awhile and dump the twerp you don't love anyway.
I can't even on Sebastian. Heartless egotist. One character that could kick the bucket any time and I would be fine. Susannah deserves way better than this jerk.
Still don't like Mari - that stuck up act is old, old, old. But at least Xochi had a break from being miserable. That was nice.
So now what? Rog stay in jail? Who takes over Avon? Will Sanson demand to move in with Chucho now too? Will the wizard finally give Elias a brain?
Daisy
Color me slightly surprised that the I Do's actually happened, so that puts an interesting spin on things.
This TN needed a more cartoonish feel than Osorio is capable of doing (and is this luck or what? This comment is just on the right side of the characters who inspired it, Road Runner!!
Thanks to everyone!
Yikes! I really felt bad for Alma because she was raised by such a cretino who is treating her as a commodity with which to pay off Rogelio so he Sebastian doesn't feel so guilty. Pablo, I agree this is so not 21st century. Is it medieval times in Sebastian's head???? Probably just anything to make himself feel better. No wonder Alma is like she is having no mother and feeling guilt over her brother's death, etc. Sort of
like a bird in a gilded cage--looks good but no freedom. I loved Rogelio's panic with her long pause in the wedding vows with Patricia crying and Jesús shaking his head at the same time.
Patyricia also was so pathetic grabbing onto Rogelio as the police were taking him away. In real life, everyone would be talking after that inappropriate display. Was Jesús the only one who saw this??
And this whole wedding thing might have been avoided if Alma had not seen Jesús yet again being FORCED to kiss Verónica. In this case, what is HIS problem? He deserves what happened for not being able to control his lips and for not following Chatita's advice!
I don't like Fernando now feeling remorse over Rogelio's arrest. Also very interesting that Rogelio was not in pain today.
Sansón was very dapper coming down the aisle. All in all a very entertaining episode.

73 down, 109 to go (God have mercy).
Sorry the cops didn't get there in time to stop the wedding, but it's not like the "happy" couple can be together anyway.
BTW, I saw last night's show, and the CC3 translation had Jesuss telling the little princess to "stay out of Adult business".
I slapped him a "high five" on that note......It sure took long enough.

As for fashion statements -- ditto on Marta. What WAS that she was wearing? On the other hand, Vero & Vale were lovely. Paty was responsible for Alma's makeup and she did wonderful job. Alma was gorgeous -- both in happy and in sstony mode. BUT did Paty use up all of hear fashion skills on alma and have none left for herself???? I didn't even recognize her until she started hyperventilating. She is so beautiful and she looked awful in that updo & bright red lipstick.
Liked the Julio/Xochi scenes and Ricardo seems to be making inroads with Marisela. Luckily Ricardo has a lot of patience.
Güera
He wants Vale to stay out of adult business but keeps telling that ''story'' that even Val has figured out is based on his own impossible love with the ''queen''...
Vale is just reacting to what she is been exposed. The blame is on the adults (we know how all the adults are in this TN, right? I don't want to say it again but starts with st and ends with upid...
Thank you, Pablo. You have really been on a roll these last few weeks:
- "Bionic Woman mode!" Hahahaha!! All she needed was the sound effects!
- I thought "grease" was the word. (Others say the bird is the word.)
- Of course I liked the Latin nicknames. Now if only someone would drop an anvil on this mess!
Daisy - I have ranted many times about TN heroines who never, ever think to say "I don't like my choices, so I'm not going to marry ANY of these guys!" So it's not just you. ;-)
Seriously, there are 183 episodes to this? The writers had better develop a few new plot twists because where we are right now--Lord have mercy is right - couldn't possibly drag out for another 109.
If this tn is to last for 100+ more episodes, they are going to have to think up a lot more plot, or tighten up the plot they have and move some things along.
You need to add some comments to Corazón Indomable, that one jumped the shark on episode 2.
Loved Paty grabbing hysterically for Roq as he is being carted away. Alma didn't notice?
Seemed like Sansón was not so unfriendly with Fernando probably thinking he needs a meal ticket from someone.
Thanks, Pablo for the recap.

I don't get Sebastian, yes he owes everything to Rogelio who is cheating on his daughter but his daughter must keep her word. This double standard crap boils my blood. You're it's the 21st century NOT the 1800's.
I thought it was interesting that the tough-girl cop who showed up at the wedding to arrest the groom was appropriately dressed in a tasteful white suit..
Also, check out her necklace. It was a gold chain with small, gold handcuffs cutely locked in the front (or maybe silver)...but definitely handcuffs. I wonder if that was a Christmas gift?
I too am wondering how this is going to last another 108 episodes! I find I am entertaining myself with such trivia and we are barely half way thru. Gertie
The Latinesque names for our fine and not-so-fine species are hilarious.
I'll join the choir: frustrated with telenovela characters who will marry whomever they're with if they can't be with the one they love, and wanting to throttle Sebastian.
For a moment there I thought Alma was finally growing a spine and was going to stand up to her father, but no, then she gave up and caved. I really wanted her to snap back at him "if you owe Rogue so much, then YOU marry him!"
Also, expecting his daughter to "pay off" the debt HE incurred by having an affair, losing all his money, and not taking care of his health?!?! What. The. Hell. Alma needs to stop letting her father shove off responsibility for everything on her. Susanna deserves WAY better than this loser.
So does Alma really not believe the money laundering charges? How long will it take before she searches her memory bank, well really more of a small memory basket, and comes up with all those shady little moments when it seemed like Rogue was hiding something?
I'm not clear on how they're laundering this money, or where it's coming from.
I agree, convenient that the police ladies wore their white suits to work on a day they would end up rushing off to crash a wedding in Acapulco!
Total aside: the police officers riding in the back of the trucks like that always creep me out for some reason.
I was wondering where you've been! I'm doing well. When will we be back in business?

The opening rant was great, the psychic truth that no doubt when Marta "goes to the theater, she steps on everybody's toes." and the outrageous latinisms, just over the top funny.
My favorites:
(pretentious bitchus) and
(boyfriendus stealis)
Wow, simply a delight from beginning to end.
And Miss Julia, let me add as my favorite comment:
"...memory bank, well, really more of a small memory basket"
Oh so funny.
And Lee Fox, I was refusing to believe that the English cc's said for Val "to stay out of adult business" but Pablo confirmed it!!!!!
Okay! Uncle! I give!
Have a great day everybody.
The dirty money was coming from Yuri in the US. (At one point not too long ago, Rogue was saying they needed to find new clients in the US.) I don't know if Yuri was generating that money himself through his own illicit activities, or if he was just the agent collecting dirty money from other gangsters.
I've been assuming all along that Rogelio's operation is part of a larger syndicate that operates all of the "businesses" that generate the illicit income, but if that's the case, we haven't seen any indication of that. I was hoping that a bigger fish, a boss, a godfather if you will, would come along and give Rogue a hard time, but for all we've seen so far, Rogue hasn't had to answer to anyone. I'm kinda bummed about that.
As for how they're laundering the money, I have no idea. Maybe Avon is more cash-oriented than we imagine, or maybe he has a fictitious business on the side.
For a short time last week I thought Alma had stumbled onto some evidence when she was unable to balance the books, but Chucho said something like she hadn't accounted for inflation (I find that hard to believe; surely this isn't the first time she's prepared a financial report) and then everything balanced just fine. So whatever Rogue is doing, he's covering his tracks well.
Incidentally, Alma does know that Rogue has a side-business of some sort, which is why she doesn't question Cantu's frequent visits and so forth. She just doesn't know what that business is.
I thought La Tempestad was historical but since I saw a car, I guess not.
I get so upset when my favorites are in Mejia basura.
Wm Levy was very good in Sortilegio, he deserves better, but you have to pay the bills.
I don't know what you think about QBA, but thankfully El señor de los cielos came on at the same time & I was spared that one. Also with one of my favorites, Jorge Salinas.
You are right about the money laundering, it was never clear where the money actually came from, except Yuri, and who knows where his money is coming from.
I remember Rogue saying something about a little side bidness, maybe that is this money laundering bidness, or what if Rogue is the, dare I say it, the Godfather? But he's really too dim to be that, isn't he?
Update: Clarification on a comment by me earlier this week; I personally was never smacked in the mouth as a child, my parents had evolved beyond that type of punishment. But as a talkative child, I would get a "stay out of grown folks conversations" and I knew to shut up.
One last thing...please blog here if any of the new TNs will have my favorite actress (Mayrin Vilanueava) as a character. I think now that it is a good thing she didn't play Alma on PEAM...no way she could act this stupid.

THIS!!
But as my sister said when I sent her the head's up on La Tempestad and said I wasn't sure of the plot yet " Who watches a William Levy series for a plot? Do we get semi-naked scenes? If we do, I'm in for the long hall".
Maybe that's where IC is not quite up to snuff ( though I live for The VOICE). Not enough shirtless moments. I can forgive the Meijas the stupid plots, after all they lead to some wonderful recaps and forums, but gees throw us a bone once in awhile. (Apologies to the guys).
Why oh why couldn't we have had a bodus interruptus? It had all the makings of one. No one mentioned how hysterically funny it was when Alma delayed her response long enough that Rogelio answered for her--a couple of times and Father Sunday had to explain it is the bride who has to answer.
I guess the next 109 episodes will be of Alma and Jucho talking to other people about how they feel in reality and Alma getting her church divorce. Too bad they didn't do the civil one first with Father Sunday left with Jucho's Corinthian's reading unread.
Who's going to eat all that food? For Alma not having but a handful of friends, the wedding was well attended by all sorts of strangers. Fern had better be careful that Sanson doesn't get a stomach ache.
So happy to have seen the intrepid photographer in the middle of things snapping away.
After seeing Alma as wimpy bride before her boda, she sure turned on the indignant wifey at the police station, no?
Pablo--my many hundreds of beanies off to you, amigo. Thanks for providing us with hours of creative writing fun.
I thought it was VERY funny when Father Sunday asked if she accepted and then there was a looooooonnnnnnng pause. At that point, the padre really should have taken her aside and said, "are you sure? Don't get married if you aren't more convinced and ready than that!" I was also glad the blackmailing photog was there snapping away the whole arrest scene.
Nice of Alma to buy Chucho a white suit, but where is he supposed to wear that again? He'll have to buy a yacht in Chicago.
Vero and Sebastian should get together. They're two selfish peas in a pod.
