Muchacha Italiana Viene a Casarse #25 Mon 9/28/15 (Mex 33-34) A Promise Is a Promise!
Ciao, Muchacha Patio Peeps! We pick up with Eloisa pointedly asking Pedro what is going on between him and Fiorella. We get the first installment of our potential lovers back-peddling and offering mealy-mouthed denials of their love. Oh, she’s just a nice girl who’s had a tough break with her father dying and she takes care of her sick sister. What’s wrong with taking her to dinner? Eloisa hopes that’s all it is. Hasn't Pedro heard about poor, sweet, innocent young girls who take a shine to wealthy men? Doesn’t he see what a disaster bringing someone who doesn't "fit", like Sonia, into the family was? She doesn’t want her fortune going to someone who doesn’t deserve it. Fiorella is NOT like Sonia! Granny shouldn’t worry, Fiorella is engaged anyway and he'll probably marry as well. . .one day.

This was a combo of episodes 33 and 34. I think there is some footage of Diana and Vittorio missing but nothing important. I also think you don't mind being spared Simona gushing about Vittorio, which I Just Don't Get. Also some of Sergio and Julieta.
Some of the background music sounds like it's coming from Italian movies of 40+ years ago and that might also explain the absurd braids Fiorella is wearing now.
Buena notte...
Now, The funny part was when fifi told Eli
That vitto is to old for her and to old for Eli too. the man is ancient, cause Elis over 80?!?! And he Knows hes to old for fiorella too, he'd have to Take the whole bottle of cialas, and have a spare of the blue pills waiting in the wings. I think he knows fifi don't want to be
Married to an old geezer she'll be burying after the honeymoon. He don't have to marry her to give her and gigi a good life.
And since when does Eloisa and Freddie get together and plot. Even dante knows figi is a
Good girl. Goldilocks is pushy. Why is she
Kissin up to granny to get her and pedro back together, is her family business in trouble?
Sneaky skank, just guessin, wouldn't be to
Surprised tho, why does she pick now to come back? I don't like her.
Ok check back tomorrow!!
Nighty night peeps!!!
Braids? Shes got beautiful hair she should
loosen it and give Pedro something to run his fingers through. cuz in aitana's hair he'd probably get all tangled up with broken nails.
Ok, now good night!!! Hey yall beautiful moon out Tonight.
If it wasn't for Gael and Gianna (their smiles were registering on the voltage meter!), I was ready to just switch over to baseball last night. Gael is more my galan right now.
Frankly, the whole Vitto thinking he's God's gift is making me nauseous and it's not even fun to watch. The way Fi is being put up as some show over this is disgusting. And Eloisa...yeah, that woman is down about 8 pegs on the latter to me. Snob extraordinaire. So we can definitely see why her family is tripping over themselves to please the snooty matriarch. It's all about standing and money with her. Blech.
I give it Pedro in that he kept trying to knock some sense into Fi, and this whole "it's a promise"....ah, no it isn't. You made a promise to your father after he was already gone. When you are deceived, there is no promise to keep, so this whole way of thinking is ridiculous. Don't like they are painting Fifi as not too bright and gullible with this whole scenario.
And for cripes sake...ditch the pig tail braids. I saw those last night and wanted to throw something at the TV. What was the point of the dress? Ok...whatever. Frustrating episode last night.
Daisynjay
Nina Amica, you're early today! Grazie! Yah, I had to put that in when Fifi said Vitto was even too old for Eloisa! HA! I think Eloisa was truly grateful to know about Pedro and Fiorella but she has no idea how underhanded Freddie is. The plotting is all on Freddie's side. And Dante admitting that Fiorella is not an opportunist! What's up with that? And Goldilocks, or Cousin It (who said that?) realizes what a fool she was to have left Pedro. She went to Europe to find herself and didn't find nuthin' so she's back, that's all!
Buongiorno e mille grazie, Daisynjay! Daisy, Gael was SO FINE last night! Mercy! And he was so helpful to Gigi and I love how he swoons when he holds her!
I feel you, Daisy, you speak truth:
You made a promise to your father after he was already gone. When you are deceived, there is no promise to keep, so this whole way of thinking is ridiculous.
Okay, gotta go get ready for work. Hope it's a light day and I can hang out on the Patio with y'all. Between the braids and the dubious wisdom of holding up her side of a lie and a farce, the Patio is now open for group therapy, fussin and cussin!
In get why Pedro didn't outright admit to Eloisa that he and Fi are sort of an item, when she seems so determined to marry Vitto. But I wish he had been more forceful in telling her there would be nothing wrong if they DID choose to date, because there is nothing wrong with a woman being poor or having to work as a maid/assistant for a living (better than wondering around aimlessly "finding" yourself, like Aitana). And furthermore, he's a grown man who can make his own damn decisions about who he dates or marries.
Unfortunately, he did not make that clear to Eloisa. And he hasn't made clear to Aitana and everyone else that he has no interest in getting back together with her. Instead, he lets everyone make comments about them being a perfect match, and lets her hang all over him.
And the writers have messed up Fi. At first, if something bad happened, she'd cry for a bit, and then make a new plan and move forward with determination and a positive attitude. But now she just seems to be stuck (on stupid) and just weeps all the time.
Daisynjay- It's so funny that you say Vitto thinks he's God's gift, because that's exactly what is thought during that scene where he remembered a bit of Mario's letter (calling in his favor) and asking Vitto to help his girls. Obviously he thinks HE'S the greatest gift that Fi and Gi could receive.
Sorellina mia, Viviana! I wish Pedro had been more forceful, too, about the class difference and mainly this: And furthermore, he's a grown man who can make his own damn decisions about who he dates or marries.
Yes! See, Eloisa, it's that kind of micro managing the intimate lives of your grand offspring that has them fantasizing about your entering the pearly gates!
ITA he is also a push over with pushy Aitana. Uuuuf! This wimp factor with the galans is sooo maddening as is weepy Fifi! Wimpy and weepy!
Okay, later!
Forgot to say that I continue to love Gi and Gael. They were so cute pretending to be novios. I don't know why they haven't kissed or decided to be real novios yet, but I'm almost glad they haven't. As soon as they do, you know all hell will break loose and things will fall apart. Better this sweet and tentative phase in the budding relationship.
Well, we now know that So-no is a hoorrr for sure. Fabi-oh-no is muy skeevy. Eww Ozzie is an inept crankypants. These folks are delightful.
Sara..It is 8:37 am , and I am wondering if you have been doing any throat punching. Meetings...meh. A love the new picture. I cannot figure out how to do those, but I found some symbols on my tablet ♠♥♣♦fullhouse✴✳❇
OT..The dvd of the second half of season 1 of Outlander is out today. Squeeeeeeee I am verra, verra excited and happy.
Grazie, Sara! I continue the tradition of being yucky scene recapper! :D
Their worst adversary is Roxy and though she can cause trouble, Gia, unlike her sister, has a spirit and willingness to let people have it who are coming after her. So I don't worry for our girl unless it would hurt her health. I do want to see how Gael would handle losing even more favor with Her Highness Eloisa. I'd dance a jig if he told everyone to take a hike and left the house.
Where's Benito...he needs to occupy Roxy. He lost out in the Italian sweepstakes.
Daisynjay
Have a good one all. Check in at lunch.
Daisynjay
So. Your tablet is just "hip." (Also old school slang word in use before "hipsters" were even a gleam in their parents' eyes.)

;D
I can see the basic Fi/Pedro plot of this telenovela is like a yo-yo. Up. Down. Up. Down. Lather, rinse, repeat. For the next how many episodes? . . .
Viejo Verde Vito (VVV) wanting sweet-young-thang Fiorella = eeewwww gross! He just flat out reminds me of Arte Johnson/Ruth Buzzi sketch on Laugh-In…. I wish we could post pics but here is a non-link that might work:

or

Eeewwwww. Just eeewwwww.
Gael showed up at corporate offices? To work? Did hell freeze over? Golf game rained out? Gah….
That Sonia is a real piece of work. I hope there is a nice anvil for her by the end of this.
Him. Therein lies the problem. The old girl needs to understand you can't controll the
Heart of others. And aitana, I can't take her
Serious, she seems a little loopy. Pedro can
And must do better (fiorella). When she gets
Out of that ridiculous promise mode thingy. I
Wonder if pedro just all out defyed his old grandmother and tell her he was going to be with fifi no matter how much she objected? I wonder if she would cut him out of the will and put Ozzy in place? then the Grands would start world war 3. Cause ozzy is a screwup. And freddy would put a hit out on fifi. Theres lots more high jinx to come folks.
I found a twitter feed for comments. Its a #tag thing.like "#LolmperdonableUS: and then theres the comments. I guess its whatever show you want to comment about
So you hashtag it, with US at the end of It and go for it. I wasn't looking for it I was looking for something else and it just popped up. so I checked it out it was pretty interesting the comments are kind of like the ones here but I like you all better so....Im happy here.
Freddie hangs around in the background sponging up everything as usual.
Yes, that's exactly what Freddie makes me think of--an old sponge that has begun to smell, with all kinds of yucky bacteria nestling in it. I absolute LOATHE this character. But admire the job the actress is doing.
Hated Eloisa saying "she didn't want any of her money to go to someone who didn't DESERVE it--like only already rich people deserve the get more money!??? What the hell!?
And like how the costume department is helping us find Vittorio even more ridiculous. The suit jacket he was wearing for the coffee was way too big on him. Especially in the shoulders. He looked like a shambling, ill-dressed old man. Clearly not fiancé material for a young girl. Yuck.
Frustrated with Fiorella's silly lies and denials, but that's standard operating procedure in a telenovela, so I need to chill.
Thanks Ms. Lila, for whipping out your usual earthy, snazzola style of recap...not once, but twice every week. You're a peach.
JudyB! Awww, JudyB, mille grazie, amica mia! Freddie is sooo annoyingly infuriating, isn't she! The actress IS killin' it! And Vitto. Vitto, Vitto, Vitto! Oh, how endearing he could have been as a grandfather figure who teamed up with Fiorella to help her win Eloisa's heart and defend her against the vultures. He knows Fifi loves Pedro, so what if he finally sees the light and DOES play that role. But alas, he's in "I'm a lucky old coot" mode right now!
If she were a little younger I think she would see Vittorio as Fiorella's way out of poverty. She might even think a little bit like Federica and say to herself "Well, how much longer can he last? He'll be dead in five years or so and Fiorella can marry whomever she wants when he's gone."
If Federica doesn't have her offed first.
"mealy-mouthed denials of their love"
"face smoosh"
This is stupid. Vitto is almost old enough to be Fio's great grand dad. Gosh, what a little blue randy pill has done to broken down old men.
Studly as Vitto is convinced he is, no less delusional, both Sonia and Aitana assume Pedro is a given.
I question Pedro's acumen outside the family business since he so easily folds under the financial wings of a domineering matriarch. Guess he doesn't believe he has other options.
Fidel (The Faithful Fairy Godfather)
Gael (Whos Gaga over Gigi)
Simoneta (she's funny, kind of loose of lips and flip-floppy on Vitto, though)
Quina (as long as they don't say anything about precious Roxi)
I don't trust Benito!
We'll watch Dante. He may see the purity of Fiorella's love for Pedro but Freddie has him whipped!
Who did I miss?
Hey, Urban! I wonder what Diana was looking for. I need to go back in and note that she wrote something down. What do you think she's after?
Gosh, what a little blue randy pill has done to broken down old men.
And now, they claim to have a pill for women. Lord help us! Can you see Granny Eloisa in booty shorts?
I've said on an earlier date that the guy who walked out on her could be someone her own age or younger and she might think guys younger than Vittorio might all be like that. We have to expect that the baby's father will ultimately turn up.
That could be Sergio and the baby would be Pedro's half-brother. Aaaaaack!
:D
Vivi! Okay. That makes sense because the waiter told her Benito was in love with Fifi! Grazie!
Okay, the graph of my esteem for Sonia has taken a precipitous plunge toward the X-axis. So what does this girl do? Divide her time equally between studying motel room ceilings, wandering around corporate headquarters without anything to do, and stabbing her family by marriage in the back?
I think that Vitto's presence is supposed to be repulsive in the extreme, and the confluence of forces between the actor's ability, the script, and the wardrobe department are really producing that effect in me.
Equally disgusting is Dante macking all over Freddie, but who better to have something disgusting happen to them than Freddie.
I am somewhat surprised that Eloisa is not presented as one who can distinguish between an amoral parasite like Sonia and a hard working honest young woman like Fi.
Can't wait for Aitana's many deficits begin to come to light.
Thanks again, Lila. Just great.
David
Okay, the graph of my esteem for Sonia has taken a precipitous plunge toward the X-axis.
That is exquisite, as is the whole paragraph! David, even though I agree the Angeles are viscious by nature, Sonia's behavior makes me remember in an earlier episode how Ozzie said that she asked for the vultures disdain! Yah. She is waaaay worse than useless! ITA that Eloisa can't tell the difference between a Sonia and a Fiorella! Sonia's and Aitana's deficits are going to start reeking pretty soon, David, don't worry! It should be fun!
Mille grazie!
Can a priest refuse to marry a couple on the basis of anything he sees wrong with the situation? That's what should happen here with Vittorio and Fiorella.
;/
Hey! You know what!? Everybody is always interrupting Pedro with Fiorella, I hope somebody crashes this wedding if it gets that far. That would likely be Benito in cahoots or not with Diana. I don't think he needs Diana for the guts to do so!
"We get the first installment of our potential lovers back-peddling and offering mealy-mouthed denials of their love." Annnnnnd, they lost me. I think I spend most of the episode wanting to ask just about every single character "What the hell is wrong with you?!"
But this..."At first it will take a month and then, after Gael says he and Gianna are novios and can only marry on the condition that she complete her studies, the Registrar dude can expedite the process and she can start in 15 days if they invite him to the wedding!"...made up for it! Awwwww yeah! I've never seen a guy lie about being engaged so he can expedite someone's transfer credits, but I think I like it :D
"Dante doesn’t think Fiorella is a gold digger." I'm starting to get confused about what side Dante is playing. I think Dante might be getting confused as well. Thanks for confirming I really did hear that before I VPC-ed the rest of that scene for grossness!
"mealy-mouthed denials of their love", "Granny shoots Pedro a “watch your step, boy” gaze of her own" and "...convinces him he is God’s gift to Fiorella" were a few of my favorites.
Why do I like this so much? "Do you love me, I have to know.” They are gently cradling one another’s faces in their hands. “I love you more than my life, I promise!” and "...hugging Gianna always evokes a swoon in Gael. Ahhhh!" are but two examples.
As you have often stated and I agree - I watch these to see love. Forbidden, hard fought and always desired love. Although things are awry, seeing these sparks give me hope that the promise of love will be fulfilled.
Egomaniac Vitto makes me smile - I so enjoy the actor and his single minded pursuit of the fair Fifi will surely result in failing miserably. Only someone without sight or hearing could fail to see she wants nothing to do with him, let alone marry him.
Eloisa disappoints me. She is shrewd but class conscious. Doris, I agree that she has done much for Fiorella and Gi, as you noted, she is not responsible for them. However, kindness to the help might be expected from someone of her stature. Accepting Fiorella for Pedro will not happen easily.
Lila, thank you!
Diana
Interesting on Diane's baby-daddy guessing game...I vote Anibal.
Wondered if anyone else picked up a weird action of Sonia's last night. When Os walked in and she was sitting on the bed, she looked to rub her stomach and did she mention she wasn't feeling great? Lord, I'm hoping I picked that up wrong because are we getting a ANOTHER who's the baby-daddy plot line. I could so see her blackmailing Pedro with the news, and all the while the baby is singing O Sole Mia in the womb. Really really hoping I was wrong...really really.
I can't believe the writers would actually put Fi through a wedding ceremony unless they decide to have Vitto kick the bucket right after which would make her a wealthy widow. The mere thought she would have to fend off that man...ok. Eating lunch, can't go there. So I vote for a wedding interruptus...Pedro riding in on horseback or Gianna fainting away at the thought of her sister and that old coot....something really dramatic.
Daisynjay
I just LOVE Gigi and Gael! How many times can I say I enjoy their hugs! They haven't even kissed yet and they enchant me!
Diva, Dante has you, me and other folk guessing. As one of my Patio Peeps suggested (Sorry for not always remember who proposes what. Guess I should keep a cheat sheet!), maybe Dante is an undercover good guy! Maybe he IS eternally grateful for Maximo having saved him from prison and is close to Freddie as in "keep your friends close, but your enemies closer."
I could see Dante being loyal to Maximo but having a weird mutual attraction thing with Fed that gets in the way of him doing the right thing.
Daisynjay, I did see the Sonia thing. Dare I hope the candidate pool is really only 2--Fabio and Osvaldo?
OK...thinking about Gael and Gigi again to wash the mental images out of my brain! Hopefully we'll get some late-night study sessions :D
Glad I'm not drinking any coffee: I could so see her blackmailing Pedro with the news, and all the while the baby is singing O Sole Mia in the womb.
You are on fire, Daisy! I LOVE this, too! This would be GREAT!
I can't believe the writers would actually put Fi through a wedding ceremony unless they decide to have Vitto kick the bucket right after which would make her a wealthy widow.*
Just let him kick the bucket at the ceremony cause otherwise they will charge poor Fifi with murder!
*(P.S. Vitto will be forgiven his 40-year old picture sinlet and be welcomed by St. Peter, so it's all good!)
I feel strangely conflicted. Glad I wasn't seeing things and actually got some dialog right (Yeah!!) , but crap, we did see Sonia do the "could a bun be in her oven" move. at least SHE didn't faint...or maybe that's to come.
Daisynjay
Aitana: What part of Italy are you from?
Fi: The South.
Aitana: I am Spanish. Don't you think it's a coincidence that we're both Europeans?
Fi: Don't you think it's a coincidence that we're both women?
Simona: Don't you think it's a coincidence that you're both in the house of Pedro?
(At least that's what I thought was going on)
David
"Thank goodness we know SHE doesn't have a bun in the oven". ;)
Diana
And "Meow" is exactly the type of thought that was going through my mind.
David
Re the bun: thank goodness we don't have a secret marriage and consummation!
I watch these to see love. Forbidden, hard fought and always desired love.
Yes! That's why, even though I know these are formulaic, I still growl when love gets thwarted or denied!
If they're going to tease us with Fiorella and Pedro, then let us have some sweet, honest love between Gigi and Gael.
The base mating of Sonia and whoever has a good bloodflow is NO substitute for Love!
Mille grazie, Diana!
Nina, let's hope she buries him before the honeymoon, so that she doesn't have to do the "guacamole" with him and she would inherit his wealth, you know for Gianna's medical expenses (*cough, cough*)
Daisynjay, you basically said everything I want going to rant about. Thank you. When you said, "Italian sweepstakes" I just thought of Oprah saying "you get an Italian, you get an Italian, and you get an Italian. Everyone get's an ItAAAAAAAAAlian. Except Benito".
I thought Eloisa was going to be this nice, old woman, but she is snobby as hell. I now understand why everyone in the family isn't too keen with her. Maybe the problem isn't them, it's her.
Vivi in DC, I am with you there about Pedro. Pedro keeps saying he will fight for their love, but when given the opportunity to confess his feelings for Fi, he denies it.
Beside being a plot device to frustrate us and prolong it as much as possible, what is the reasoning for why Fi would lie to Vito about how she really felt...about him being old and being in love with Pedro. Did it ever occur to her that he might have understood if she was in love with someone else.
And part of why Fi isn't talking to Vitto is what makes me furious at the writers. She's going to marry the man...for cripes sake talk to him!
Daisynjay
Okay, well. My time is up! See y'all on Diva's recap!
