Yo No Creo En Los Hombres Cap 54 Sept 25, 2015, or Judge, Jury and Executioner
Lo Pasado:
MD is at the helpful rape victim center and is speaking to a counsellor when her rapist Dan calls. The slime calls her "mi amor" and when she doesn't respond in kind, telling him she is reporting him to the authorities, he blackmails her, saying no one will believe her as he sent a text from her phone to his with a sexy picture, so everyone will think their encounter was consensual. Claudio tells Isela that if Orly breaks the restraining order he's in big trouble.
Lo nuevo:
Judge and Jury
Max's tricks Baldamero into believing the loan shark ratted him out in the MD family mortgage sale scheme and therefore he's under arrest. Baldy quickly confesses that Daniel Santibañez is behind it all. Baldy realizes the trick and complains to Max who tells him to file a report against him. Max goes to casa Santíbañez to see Dan even as Dan's atrocious blackmail of MD continues.
If you report me, you will lose your house, Max, and poor Esperanza won't be able to stand it. So, tell Max to back off. MD concedes on getting Max to back off, and Dan lets Max hear MD say on speakerphone (altívoz) that she and Dan will negotiate the mortgage issue alone. Max leaves the Santíbañez defeated as Maleny says under her breathe he deserves that embarrassment and much more.
At the Bustamante's Isela seems to remember the revenge plot she and Josefa had engineered as she plays twenty questions with Claudio at the dinner table. "Being a judge is like being God isn't it? You have the power to change someone's life for good or bad," she asks forthrightly. "I never thought of it that way before," Claudio admits, "but I don't agree with your view." "I can only judge actions and decree a sentence, guilty or innocent." "Besides, people choose their destiny by getting involved in a crime." Isela: "Have you never questioned if you've convicted someone wrongly?" "You don't even have any doubts?" Claudio: "No," on both counts. Isela looks more serious than ever as she responds. "Good for you," Isela opines sarcastically. "It's true what they say, though. If someone is a criminal, you don't determine their destiny, but if they're innocent and you convict them, you can even end their life. And that would weigh on the conscience." Claudio responds sarcastically, "What a beautiful topic for dinner conversation" and gets up from the table suddenly. Isela stops him and they look like they're about to make out.
Executioner
After comforting MD, Julian goes with Doris to casa Santíbañez to beat the stuffing out of Dan. Max shows up at MD's and asks why she decided to negotiate the house issue with Dan alone. Max senses that Dan forced her in some way and says as much but he backs off.
Claudio and Isela do the deed at his house while Alma is asleep.
Max returns home to see Leo and Max tells him about their parents. Julian arrives at Casa Santíbañez, his blood boiling. Pimp Mama Ursula of course opposes Doris and Julian coming into her home but D & J are insistent. Dan is at the top of some stairs and Julian at the bottom of the stairs. Dan casually dares Julian to try and make it up the stairs to get at him, and Julian takes up the challenge. He runs full speed up the stairs to Dan, dropping his cane on the way and starts pummeling at Dan even as he says, "You raped her" repeatedly. Dan foolishly taunts Julian by saying, "You wish you were in my place, but accept it, in your state you'll never be able to be with a woman, much less one like Maria Dolores." They fight and shove until Dan accidentally shoves Julian down the stairs to the horror of all onlookers: Ursula, Maleny, and Doris.
Aftermath
MD is in bed wide awake beside a sleeping Clara. MD remembers the day of the rape: Dan accusing her of pretending to be decent for months even as she slept with Max quickly; She telling Dan she had loved him and wanted their first time together to be as a married couple and then him forcing himself on her. She cries quietly and bitterly at the memory.
At casa Santíbañez, Dan is horrified at what he did to Julian-and it was an accident-even as Doris screams that they call an ambulance, which Pimp Mama Ursula delays as she tries to tell Dan what to say when the authorities show up. Dan says to himself and no one in particular, "How quickly I've gone from rapist to murderer" and Ursula quickly tries to squash the thought in Dan's head. "It was an accident and he did it to himself," she insists. Maleny accuses Ursula of machinating even as they aren't sure if Julian is dead or alive. She insists that she did the same for Maleny and will defend Dan as well especially since "he didn't do anything." Isidro, the evil faithful servant lets Ursula know Julian is still breathing and then she approves calling an ambulance. She cuts to the chase what they will do. She'll call Arango and let him deal with the legal blow back. All Dan and Mal are to say is "El llegó, te agredió, se cayó." He came here, he assaulted you, he fell. (Which is true. Dan does have a good self defense case here since he only insulted Julian and barely touched him.) Meanwhile, at the bottom of the stairs, Doris is with an unconscious Julian calling Jenny to let her and Julian's parents know Julian fell. Why didn't she call the ambulance?
MD continues to quietly cry and mourn so convincingly, it breaks my heart.
At the hospital are Doris, along with Jenny, Honoria and Fermin, who are waiting for news about Julian. They flag a nurse down who tells them Julian is conscious but in observation.
As Ari and Doris walk in broad daylight together, they encounter Orly and he explains to them that he has to report to the police to testify in his case with Isela. Though he was the one injured, he tried to force himself on Isela, which is why she has a restraining order against him, which he deserves. Even as Doris and Ari shake their heads in disapproval against Isela, she had called him last night and Ari told him not to answer, Orly takes responsibility and says he won't be stuck on stupid anymore with Isela. "If she doesn't want me to go near her, I won't go near her."
Isela comes down for breakfast at Casa Bustamante looking as guilty as homemade sin as she sees Alma and Claudio and the table. Alma graciously asks the servant to put a place at the table for Isela. They start to gossip immediately about MD and the barrio crowd. Isela says her mother told her it seems MD and Julian had something going on but Isela says Julian loves MD but she has never reciprocated.
Max and Leo show up at MD's and Clara's for them to explain the jewelry robbery. They explain that the jewelry appeared in Clara's bag when they left it in Maleny's presence and they broke up with them so Alma wouldn't file charges against Clara. Max comments bitterly that he once believed and commented to MD that their families had a lot in common since they shared the same good values, but he now realizes his family does not.
We get a mercifully short scene of Susana and Ivana fighting about the Santíbañez and how Ivana has to prove they haven't broken her.
Leo and Clara make up. Max comments how in love they seem and he hopes he and MD can get back to their relationship as well. MD cringes as Max touches her and they are mercifully interrupted by Espy and Doris who tells them there's news at the hospital about Julian.
Arango is at the breakfast table advising a stressed-looking Ursula drinking some tea. "As long as this young man isn't dead or anything else serious doesn't happen to him, there's no need to get the police involved," he notes calmly. He mentions Julian's sickness as contributing to his fall. "He is also sick in his bones. It's logical that this young man accidentally fall," Arango continues reassuringly. Urusula doesn't look so convinced and Maleny's words entering the room doesn't ease the tension. "You are forgetting one small detail, the obese lady (Doris) saw everything that happened yesterday." "And she saw the same thing we did," says Ursula.
As Max drives MD to the hospital, he asks MD why she is so cold and distant from him. "You don't want me to even touch you," he wonders. He also asks what Daniel did to her since he knows when he came by to pick up his things Dan was there too. "Nothing," MD says, looking trapped. "Do you think I'm seeing him again?" she asks. "No. I think he's following you." She insists they go to the hospital to see about Julian and Max drops the subject.
At the hospital, all the people who hold Julian dear are gathered thinking he's fine. Jenny even had an orthopedic made for him and presents it to Hon and Ferm. Sadly, the doctor bursts their bubble. Although Julian tried to break his fall in the best way possible, since his disease was so advanced and he hadn't been using any support, he will never walk again and will be confined to a wheelchair. Caras de impactado all around.

The second call from Dan was because Max had shown up inquiring about the mortgage papers that Dan had and Dan wanted MD to tell Max to drop it and leave. Dan put MD on speaker and she told Max it was not his business and that she and Dan would resolve the issue.
Lucky to say I had a childhood friend like that. Loyal, larger gal, who would even beat her brothers for making fun of shy skinny me. Max completes the picture. If not for the Santi's, MD and her family would be so happy!
I simply cant wait for recap!!
It could be that in this case, MD is still afraid for Clara with the Bustamante's threat hanging over her and her "promise" to stay away from Max that makes her want to keep Max out of it. But she should accede in the case, since he knows more about the law than she does, or what he doesn't know he can find out faster than she can--and not make any mistakes.
I can see why this was the best show in Mexico for 2014. The care and detail that went into the rape and its consequences was masterful.
Great acting all around as well as writing. Its sad that rape has to be a part of this story but the aftermath matters just as much and the writers handled this with delicate care.
Not since El Manantial have I felt such disgust and angst at a scene like this. I felt MDs terror and her fear. Sick all throughout. The fact that a lot of peoplenfound out about thw rape just a couple of hrs after the fact makes this even worse.
I'm glad Daniel went bonkers on Ursula. That woman is evil incarnate. Theres a limit when you have actively destroyed your children's lives as well.
As far as Maleny and Ursula they may be the start of redemption story asnshe starts to unravel what exactly happened.
Poor Julian and Honoria. They will feel like hell for someone who always tried their best to not stand out.
As always Doris was a pleasure to watch. Her friendship with MD is a delight especially now that Isela has decided to stab the biggest knife in her back.
If what has come before dictates what will happen....the rape secret won't last long and I shutternto think at what will happen next.
She was making these bad choices before the rape. Why doesn't she get angry at him
And stop sacrificing herself. Her family sure
Would want her to press charges against that bottom feeding parasite. Im angry with her for not cuttin his a$$ off when he made a
Fool of her with that fake wedding. Its like
Her brain cells have shut down. Why did the
Writers make her character so dadgum accommodating to this jerk, and that word is to good for him.
I don't mean to pick on her I mean, I'm not picking on her because she has been through a very horrible horrific thing. but why doesn't she fight for herself? and she was this way before the rape, now it's just worse.
what the hell is wrong with these writers and These directors? Ok thats it for now.
But if Max and MD now MD have sex in a few dais, how will Daniel and Ivana be assured to baby is Daniel's.
No spoiler but I remember when MD first though she was pregnant after her honeymoon and Max sounds he'd loved ANY CHILD OF HERS.
She is not only afraid of Alma filing charges against Clara, she is looking to spare her mother any more grief. She also wouldn't want Max getting hurt or in trouble for going after Danny-Boy.
She may also be looking to find her own strength.
Same question I've been asking myself over and over and the behavior precedes the rape.
MD has gotten angry at Max from the beginning when she thinks he crossed the line, gone after Alma, Maleny, Ivana, Jacinto. She even gives a wide berth to people she knows has hurt her like Ivana and Max's parents or legitimately questions the honesty of a close childhood friend like Isela. Despite everything Dan has done to her she hasn't even blocked his number and will take his calls.
Max may get hurt too but Julian already has, however, I don't blame MD for what Julian did (That was idiotic and unnecessary and kinda pissed at Doris for showing him where Dan lived) and if Max gets hurt it is on him. MD doesn't want to be saved from Dan. I recall an earlier conversation before Max and MD began dating (if you can really call their relationship dating) when Max asked MD why does she listen to Dan's lies and she said because she wants to. Max is the fool here, he dismissed that true declaration and insisted on a relationship too soon with a woman emotionally attached to another man. I'm with Max, Doris, Clara, Esperanza and Julian in not being about to rationally understand the continued attachment to the scumbag.
Ursula is prophetic and correct. If Dan has impregnated MD he owns MD and Ivana and can do anything he wants with them. No, I take that back he already can do anything he wants with them.
"says he won't be stuck on stupid anymore" I can only hope Max wises up too, though he hasn't attempted to force MD he does show up unannounced and meddling in her business despite her repeated protest.
Doris made a comment to Maleny as she and Julian arrived at casa Santíbañez, that she doesn't know why but she feels sorry for Maleny. Was that said sarcastically or with a hint of truth?
How long will Isela live there at the house? Well, how many sleeping pills does Alma have left.
You surely can't mean this. He has no legal right over either of these women and for him to have impregnated MD would be the most vile crime he has committed so far. There is no worse hell for any woman than this kind of invasion by a rapist. I don't know if you watched Amor Bravio, but that was the ultimate in this crime.
And I'll say this again: If MD goes the same route and is willing to go full term on a pregnancy that results from this, that is a martyr complex I can't deal with. If that happens she will never be rid of this creep because he will torture her again and again until he kills her or dies.
I am hoping that MD gets rape counseling.
Greatest Line: Isela comes down for breakfast at Casa Bustamante looking as guilty as homemade sin as. It definitely was that.
I can definitely see a pregnancy story coming up where MD will pray that the baby is Max's. Here is hoping that can be proven quickly, as happened in MCET.
MD is in shock. I think she took Dan's call because she's running on autopilot, she's not really thinking. [Plus, the writers want her to see his sick photo and text.] Up to now, MD could never fathom how disturbed he is despite all the foul he's done.
Poor Julian. This is the downside of living like he was physically whole. I truly think he was so angry that he forgot all about his infirmities when he went to confront Dan, even running up the stairs.
I actually had a smidgen of sympathy for Claudio being in a stale marriage, even though the fool made no move to freshen up things with Alma. But coming on to Isela in his home while Alma is asleep is beyond colmo. Not an iota of respect for Alma. Looking forward to him going down in a big way.
I just want to know who is the father of the inevitable baby.
The Santibanez clan really believes they're above the law and that anyone else exists to serve them or be destroyed. That is really going to bite them in the arse when Karmageddon comes.
Danny-Boy is not married to Maria Dolores and their "ceremony" was false. While we have good reason to assume that Max has been diligent about using protection, there was no conversation about it. The writers have left the door open to a Baby Max.
Although I'm not happy that MD took Dan's calls, I am glad that she knows exactly what he has up his sleeve with the text and photo. Now, if only she would tell someone about it!
I have faith that neither Doris nor Julian will keep quiet about the rape, and Max was already asking why Julian would go after Dan like that. He's not stupid. He knows something else besides the stolen jewelry and house deed is weighing on MD.
I still do not believe that MD and Max had unprotected sex while being unmarried. Sorry folks. If she gets pregnant, it will be from this blasted rape.
There is still time for MD to use the evidence collected by the rape center to file charges against Dan. I've not given up on her fighting back.
We will have to wait a few episodes before we get anything about whether she is pregnant or not. Can anyone remember how long ago she and Max were at his place?
However, Ursula made another point that both women will be malleable if indeed he has fathered a child with MD.
I think Ivana will jump through hoops to get her hands on the child and Dan will be able to manipulate MD just as he always has with lies, threat and intimidation. I don't see him stopping, he has stolen, lied, committed fraud, beat and raped for less. For some reason MD, to this point, has thought she can appeal to some sense of fairness and humanity in Dan which implies she either believes he possesses some, he really does love her and wouldn't really hurt her or that she is capable of making a convincing enough argument.
Everyone: Who thinks Ivana is smart enough to figure out Danny-Boy's motive when she finds out about the rape? Because she will know eventually.
Romy
Ivana does not yet know about the rape. If she was previously willing to fire Jacinto over an attempted rape she should be even more appalled at this.
I agree that it's intentional that the writers didn't say anything about the morning after pill or a test to determine if MD is already pregnant and past the point where RU-486 would be effective.
Does anyone remember what really happened.????
Ivana on the other hand, I've lost sympathy for because the rape was a business decision the Santíbañez made to placate and manipulate Ivana. Plus, Ivana has Gerry and should move on. She has the financial resources to get mental help and has chosen not to.
In my opinion, if Ivana finds out about the rape, she would definitely be completely turned off by Dan, although she already is after he hit her, but she will not go along with any of this, and she may even collaborate with MD to put him in jail.
Victoria, Jacinto never raped MD, he assaulted her and many of the women in the shop.
Romy
She"ll (MD) muster up some strength and fight for herself, please, I hope so. The hell
With the text, she should not let this man own her.
I'm with some of you and cannot understand Ivana wanting Max near. She told Gerry she admires Max and knows he is a good man but she cannot understand why he would want a woman like MD who also attracted and was in love with a man like Dan. I don't think Ivana has any romantic interest in Max so perhaps it is turf. Maybe she believes she can convince him MD and Dan are birds of a feather or when Max discovers the child MD is carrying is not his but Dan's will help her (Ivana) take the child away. Urgh, I just confused myself.
This photos may prove nothing, but there is no one to prove that Danny-Boy sent them. Add the viper named Ho-sefa to the mix and the surface rep of the Santibanez family and we'll all be surprised if MD doesn't try to off herself.
MD and her mother are tragic, almost pathetic characters in this TN.
Doris is the strong one. Max so far has let MD call the shots about what the terms of their 'relationship' are.
Couldn't agree more and largely what infuriates me when there is a rape in nearly every one of these shows. It shuts the woman up, punishes/shames or keeps her in the relationship and/or impregnates her or there is a pregnancy scare that may or may not cause a rift between the lead protagonist.
At least here there was the threat of reporting the crime and the difficulty in doing so. Why can't they take it further and convicting Dan of the rape be what takes him down? We see Dan unconcerned with MD's physical or emotional state post attack and his lament over being a rapist because he knows there are laws against it and that MD didn't want him and he had to use force. Let's see him try to convince a jury she wanted it.
Especially since this story isn't even half over yet.
We are virtually guaranteed another long list of lies, subterfuges, sabotage, and other crimes to be committed against her and hers before this is all over and MD and Max have the Wedding of the Year.
If Esperanza knew about MD's rape, she'd probably urge her to report Dan. If Esperanza knew about the Bustamantes' accusing Clara of theft, she'd probably march over there and put them in their places but she'd probably advise Clara & MD to stay away from the Bustamante sons.
With the line of questioning by Isela, I think Claudio sentenced Josefa's daughter to jail for a crime she didn't commit and she died in jail for a crime she didn't commit and this is why Josefa wants revenge on Claudio. Josefa can't believe in the goodness of people when people who are supposed to be good are doing bad things.
Julian was very stupid for trying to fight Dan at the top of some stairs (even as I understand him wanting to fight Dan). Unfortunately he will pay for his foolishness with his mobility.
I think Ivana will want MD's baby whether Dan is in the picture or not. She'll convince herself that MD is trash & shouldn't be allowed to have a baby. I think she still wants to take everything away from MD ---it's just that she's now swapping out Dan for Max.
Brave is one thing; foolhardy is another.
Another fear is the label of "damaged goods." This is what needs to be shaken off. We need heroes who don't see women this way (Max wouldn't, nor would Leo) and women who can be examples to other women in the face of indifferent authority.
Actually, Espie did already march over there and tell them off, even when she didn't know all the facts of the blackmail. She still knew the Bustamantes were behind the breakups. And as of this last episode she knows the whole truth about the jewelry theft, and she did NOT advise her daughters to stay away from the Bustamante boys. She knows they are great guys.
Shes just as bad as the others
Cathyx, I agree that MD will not hand over her baby willingly. Unless it is taken or kidnapped and put in a terrible situation that she cannot control. But she will love that child regardless whose it is. Not Dan's, I hope against hope.
Forgive me, I forget who commented that from Isela's and Claudio's dinner topic pointed to the possibility that perhaps Claudia condemned her sister to prison and she was innocent.
