Angel arrives at the police station and as JE stands by her side, states she is there to file a report against Rebeca Sanchez for kidnapping.
Misael, in his far from blending in trendy, fire engine red car, tracks down Rebeca. As he sits outside, Rebeca is inside telling Brayan that she wants copies of everything stored on a USB. Brayan complains that Rebeca only looks for him when she needs something (you are just realizing that NOW moron?) Rebeca puts on her smarmy charm to get him to agree.
Outside, Misael has flashbacks of Rebeca’s false proclamations of caring and calls himself an imbecile for believing all her lies (no argument here I add grimly).
(Unaired I add bitterly) Sebas pays Doris a visit to invite her to dinner.
(Unaired) Don Emilio assures Cris that he is fine; his place is at the company as there are so many issues to resolve. Cris tells him he needs to rest but Don Emilio won’t stop until he sees that “maldita” woman pay for what she did to his daughter. Cris tells Petra that Rebeca doesn’t live there anymore and is barred from entering.
Wanda runs in front of Doris’ booth as she chases after a sobbing Pedrito. She stops and tells Doris about Rebeca telling Pedrito that she is his mother. Doris holds her friend’s hand comfortingly and (wisely) suggests she give Pedrito a chance to calm down.
Lupe, arm in a sling, is back home as a worried Luis looks on. Lucas blames himself for everything. He seeks vengeance but Lupe firmly tells him violence is not the answer. She agrees something needs to be done but done the right way. Luis adds that they will go after Brayan with the full force and might of the neighborhood behind them! We are a united family…Mati arrives as Lupe and Luis smile at each other.
(Unaired) Cris tells Don Emilio that Fatima has returned to the hacienda to look for evidence that might help Luciano. Don Emilio also wants JE to keep him apprised of what is transpiring regarding the company’s debt. With great love and affection, Cris and Don Emilio tell each other how much they appreciate each other. Don Emilio has noticed that Cris and Adolfo are closer now.
Diana
Fatima orders the workers to look for any evidence that will incriminate the thieves who broke in. Domingo gives additional orders.
Axel tells Memo that Brayan hasn’t been able to get him out. After Memo shares the deal that Adolfo offered, Axel assures him he will get out (yet another fool).
JE and Angel have been shopping arriving home laden down like pack mules. Angel wheels in a baby carriage and JE carries many packages. JE nuzzles her neck and is proud of Angel for reporting Rebeca who needs to be in prison. Angel agrees and need to make sure her baby is protected. Fashion sidebar: (We are still speculating on Angel’s baby blue lacy outfit. Is it see through or not? Susan commented it may be lined just as skating costumes often are…)
Rebeca and Brayan are now outside, her tentacles wound around his neck. They kiss as Misael watches seething with fury. As Brayan takes off on his motorcycle, he notices the luxury car (standing out like a sore thumb)
Sebas tells JE that he found the documents that show how Misael created the bogus company with the $50 million he stole from the company.
Marisa (apparently unfamiliar with HIPPA) takes Rebeca’s medical reports to Elena and Angel. She thinks Alma never took Rebeca for treatment because she was embarrassed. Elena stares as she takes out the report.
Misael calls Rebeca who lies without batting an eye, telling him she just went for a walk because she feels confused. When he asks why she took the documents, she feigns ignorance (unfathomable considering she was the only one there!) When Misael gets huffy, she gloats she has the evidence that puts him in the palm of her hand. If he wants the evidence, he will have to give her everything she wants. After she hangs up on him, Rebeca hallucinates Alma’s visage against the side of the building telling her to rethink what she does!! Initially stricken, Rebeca quickly recovers and mutters that Alma is dead. Then, in her possibly last fateful move, she starts to cross the street. A livid Misael puts the pedal to the metal, guns it and the car roars forward slamming into her!!! The impact causes her body to fly over the car and land hard in the street.
Diana
Misael rushes out and retrieves the evidence checking it before he crouches down telling maldita Rebeca to burn in hell! Several people congregate by Rebeca’s body but do not go near her.
Elena cries that Rebeca isn’t responsible for her actions (and to the surprise of no one) claims it’s her illness! Elena wonders aloud why she has NEVER noticed (thus definitively answering the patio’s query as to whether she ever had such suspicions). Angel tries to reassure and calm her mother down but Elena continues making excuses for Rebeca’s behavior. Angel tries to soothe her mother, asking her to stop blaming herself. Angel offers they can take Rebeca to a specialist (as Carole King’s It’s Too Late plays softly in the background).
Fatima calls Corral to tell her that her pure gold graduation ring is missing; yes she can send a picture.
Axel watches Brayan rushing around as he thinks that he needs to sell the ring without Brayan finding out.
Domingo shows Fatima the containers they found. Fatima asks they not touch them because they may have Brayan’s fingerprints on them.
Sweet Javi tries to calm a hysterical Pedrito down. He point out how nice Wanda is but Pedrito wants no part of her and runs off.
(Unaired) Wanda worries about what Pedrito is thinking about her. She wants to hug and kiss him as his mother not as his nanny. Doris encourages her…and agrees to continue taking care of Wanda’s booth.
Axel and Brayan see bloodied and battered Rebeca lying on the ground; she is surrounded by people who are gawking but doing nothing. Brayan leaves because (he’s a coward) he doesn’t want anyone connecting him with the mow down. Carmelo (aka the neighborhood watchdog) stares as they take off on the motorcycle.
Diana
In the best scene of the evening, Sebas takes Doris to a charming restaurant. She is radiant in a beautiful red dress with a plunging neckline; the dress has one full sleeve; the other is merely a thin strap. She has a slight red streak in her hair. As the champagne is uncorked, Doris worries that the place looks expensive. Sebas makes a toast to Doris who lights up his life. Doris expresses her feelings for him and (proving Gi’s etiquette class was in vain) quickly gulps down the entire contents of the glass. As she starts to choke, she pulls an engagement ring out of her mouth. Sebas takes the ring from her hand, kneels down and proposes!! We are swept away for a moment as Doris fantasizes she is wearing a diamond tiara, encased in a voluminous gorgeous green princess ballgown. Back to the present, she comes out of her reverie, smiling and saying “yes”! Hungry kisses ensue.
Corral tells Elena, Angel and Gi that she has an arrest warrant for Rebeca. After Angel and Elena tell her they don’t know where Rebeca could be, Carmelo (with Marisa, Luis and Lupe) calls Angel and tells her that Rebeca was run over! “Que???”
“Maldita traidora” Misael muses angrily, wondering if he killed Rebeca. He tells Rufino to clean the car thoroughly.
Cris worries about Misael suffering such an impossible day, finding out Rebeca killed his mother (girl you don’t know the half of it!). Misael trembles as he walks in; Chris and Don Emilio are immediately on their feet comforting him as they say how concerned they were about him. They ask him to try to calm him. When he asks about Santi, Cris mentions that Santi is still alive but they think it was Rebeca who hurt him. Of course this only serves to heighten Misael’s distress.
Elena, Gi, her fan and Angel are now at the hospital. Elena is hyperventilating because Rebeca has been run over. Gi and Angel assure Elena that Rebeca will be all right but then the doctor arrives and tells them that Rebeca suffered severe trauma and could lose her leg.
JE storms in and asks where Misael got the $50 million he used to create the company that gave them the loan. JE continues that it was the same $50 million he stole from the company! DE and Cris look on as their jaws drop.
Diana
An almost broken Don Emilio asks Misael to tell him he didn’t deceive him once again. Misael denies everything but JE (held back by Cris) tells him they have found the evidence. Misael asks if he saw his signature…and manipulates them into thinking that Romina and Bruno conspired to implicate him. Everyone has betrayed him, starting with his mother. If they want to believe he’s not innocent, they can do whatever they want with him. He leaves as Don Emilio stares after him.
Doris, Sebas sitting across from her, is admiring her ring when Carmelo calls. She tells him to make it snappy as she is on a romantic date. She also responds “Que” after he gives her the news about Rebeca.
Elena is inconsolable. Gi comments that divine justice exists. Elena is almost childish in her insistence they don’t have definitive proof that Rebeca committed everything she is accused of…there is no evidence.
Rebeca undergoes surgery.
Don Emilio thinks he has a moral obligation to protect Misael. He compares Bruno to Sebas and Gabriela (as we wince), whom they have trusted for many years. JE disagrees with this assessment as does Cris but Don Emilio persists in defending Misael. He talks about Monica and declares that his priority is always the family. He understands but argues that they are talking about a great deal of money. Cris and JE finally give in! Don Emilio thinks that this may be his last chance to save Misael and point him to the right path. (The patio shake our collective heads in sadness and in sympathy).
As we hear Don Emilio’s words, Misael burns the evidence as he thinks about running Rebeca over. He recalls Rebeca’s lies and promises and their kisses; he evaporates into tears, opening his suitcase strewing his clothing all around the room. He is completely despondent and cries as his shoulders heave.
Diana
JE tells Adolfo about the evidence they found against Misael but Adolfo also (foolishly) thinks they can still save Misael. JE argues passionately but to no avail. Cris agree that it is a lot of money, but this deals with family. She asks JE to sit and tells him Misael lacked much love and attention growing up. They all have to support tu primo Misael.
Corral shares a picture of Fatima’s ring with her men and tells them to keep on eye on all the places where the ring could be sold.
Axel finds an online buyer.
Angel talks to JE and tells him everything that has happened. JE hangs up and shares the news. Don Emilio looks devastated and Cris feels sorry for (cry me a river) Elena.
Elena prays in the hospital chapel for her son and Rebeca.
Rebeca’s operation continues. We are privy to bloody body parts as Rebeca lies intubated, eyelids taped shut as the surgical team works feverishly to save her.
Rgv Chick seamlessly supplied the critical, rapid-fire dialogue, so essential to today’s pivotal events. I am so grateful for her generous, gracious time and all of her hard work and effort.
Diana
Diana: Enjoyed your recap of this afternoon's episode. Why is Don Emilio still gullible regarding Misael, who is nothing but a lost cause ?
Once again: Elena is GULLIBLE regarding her evil daughter, Crazy Becca.
Thanks Steve.
I think Elena is gullible and stubborn as she has been shown proof time after time as to how evil Rebeca really is.
I am cutting Don Emilio a bit more slack...
In the end, they are just a mother and grandfather refusing to see what is before their eyes...
Diana
Thank you for your (always) positive and uplifting comments SpanProf!
You are exactly right in that "Luis and Lupe give excellent advice on how to combat Brayan--it takes a village, basically". An insightful point.
"At least Alma had enough sense to get a psychiatric evaluation of Rebeca. Maybe she couldn't afford treatment for her?" That could certainly be true. She may also have wanted to "shield" her which of course wasn't the right thing to do. That said, I do wonder if anything could have been done at that point. Medication perhaps?
It seems that Rebeca is going to pull through although what her overall physical condition will be is up in the air. So I wonder, where does she go from here? Do she and Misael both keep mum? Will one of them talk? Stay tuned! In terms of what Rebeca's options were (certainly greater than they were before today) "I have a feeling that whatever she did it would eventually result in tragedy for somebody" seems just about right.
Diana
I kept hoping that a lightbulb would go off in DE's swiss cheese memory when the 50 million dollar theft was laid at Misael's feet. I guess they are saving that for another day
The fire engine red sports car really should have drawn attention. I can't believe none of the bystanders seemed to have witnessed the hit and run. All I could think was what goes around comes around. Rebeca did the same thing to Mauricio. I would imagine a thorough cleaning of the car won't be enough. There should be some dents or a cracked windshield at the least after that hit.
I'm of the opinion there is nude underlayment in strategic parts of Angelli's dress. I kinda saw a boxer underwear type of shadow under the dress and a bandeau around the bust area. I'm not a fan of the outfit either.
I liked Doris' tasteful fingernail polish. I've never had a manicure so not sure what it is called when only the tips are painted a color.
Kat, it will be interesting to see if Corral and her not so crackerjack team think to check out Misael's car...It does seem unlikely the car was unscathed; that was a brutal hit.
Don Emilio is definitely in denial.
I believe Doris had a french manicure.
Diana
Thanks once again, Diane and Rgv Chick, a great job on the recap and filling in my blanks!
I could shake Elena. Now she’ll never believe Rebeca is just plain evil and out to destroy the lives of anyone to get what she wants. I wonder how old she was when she got the diagnosis of her “illness”. At the age of 5 she was mean to Angel when her parents were out of sight. I think she lied and manipulated her way through the doctor’s check-up. She’s too cunning and manipulative to not realize what she’s doing.
Misael is once again lying and laying a guilt trip on his family. I didn’t feel at all sorry for him in his misery. I do hope there’s another copy of the evidence he burned. I can see Brayan lowering his sentence by presenting the evidence. And we still have Santiago and Don Emilio as witnesses.
I do feel sorry for Wanda. I don’t know why Pedrito is so mad at her. They were getting along so well.
I think when everyone learns he shot Dulce and baby they won’t be worrying too much about saving Misael. But what will they think of Santiago!
Liz
Diana, many thanks to the Dynamic Duo, you and Rgv Chick, (or "Chickie" per Susan :-) for another of your fabulous recaps. If you were to string all the recaps together I think you would have an excellent novelization of the telenovela, ready to be published in book form.
Oh, no! Tell me, please tell me, that SeaBass is not such an idiot as to drop a ring in Doris's glass! Doris, Honey, maybe I was wrong about that guy. Think long and hard about this!
Oh, well, nobody's perfect. By the way, does Doris (Bárbara Islas) have a vision problem? It sometimes seems she is squinting or one eye is not tracking with the other. No big deal, I'm just curious.
They did a very good job of the scene in which Misael runs down Mad Bad Becky.
"Misael burns the evidence as he thinks about running Rebeca over." Why do these people hide and save evidence against them? Evidence that other people might be able to find...
Some strange developments lately. Axel is definitely a bad guy, one of Brayan's troop, but at least he thinks about his fellow bad guy rotting in jail.
And a lot of people in denial, Elena and don Emilio, and Pedrito. What is so terrible about Wanda as his mother, though it must be a small shock.
More later.
Andy
Hi Liz and thank you for your very nice words.
"I think when everyone learns he shot Dulce and baby they won’t be worrying too much about saving Misael. But what will they think of Santiago!" A two pronged excellent point.
Learning Misael (accidentally) killed Darcy is going to be a very bitter pill to swallow for many especially Cris, Don Emilio, JE, Fatima and Sebas. Though all are good people, will they have the desire to let alone the capacity to forgive? That is of course if he is alive at the end of this, which I doubt.
I believe Elena and Angel will forgive Santiago for keeping quiet but he will have a long, hard slog in ever regaining their trust. JE may be a different matter.
I feel sorry for Wanda as well, she just can't seem to catch a break. Speaking of, Prim seems to have vanished into the woodwork. Again.
Diana
Andy, I really appreciate your very kind words.
"Oh, no! Tell me, please tell me, that SeaBass is not such an idiot as to drop a ring in Doris's glass! Doris, Honey, maybe I was wrong about that guy. Think long and hard about this!" had me laughing away. No one can pound them down like Doris! Point well taken!!
I regret to say I haven't noticed anything about Doris'/Barbara's eyesight. In the all too few times we've seen her, I'm always frantically trying to see what she is wearing! :)
You are exactly right in that denial is indeed running rampant here! Elena in particular is going to be completely devastated. I'm hoping for an Ulises intervention (Darcy?)
You make an intuitive point about Pedrito. Wanda being his mother came out of nowhere and yes, he likely is in shock and needs some patience as well as support.
Diana
Dear Diana and Chickie,( my special nickname in honor of a long friendship here on the patio...Chick, do you remember our long late night conversations with Kirby when you first discovered Caraycaray? Was Julie a part of those conversations ?)
Well, what goes around, comes around . I was shocked that (Didn't )Mis ran down Reb with his shiny, red sports car , but it was poetic justice or automotive justice because Reb not Only ran down Mau but also her own mother,!!
Susan
"I was shocked that (Didn't )Mis ran down Reb with his shiny, red sports car , but it was poetic justice or automotive justice because Reb not Only ran down Mau but also her own mother,!!" :) Susan...
Diana
Thank you, Diana and Rgv Chick for another sensational, edge of your seat recap!! Mis ran down Rebeca!! Is she even going to get out of the hospital bed long enough to fight back?? Might lose a leg? I was expecting more build up and back and forth going up to the penultimate episode – not a quick car fix! We will see!
I can understand Pedrito being upset. He’s been hanging out in that barrio for years waiting for his mom to find him and everyone knows that. Now he learns mom knew where he was all along (as far as he knows) and didn’t say anything to him!!! That would be devastating! At least I’m guessing that it’s that, and not just the simple fact of Wanda being his mother.
DE had Monica for a daughter for what 40+ or 50+ years? He’s got to be a jedi master at giving someone the benefit of the doubt by now! I bet he could hang with Mis through a lot more suspicion than this! Not saying that he should, but I could see how he might, even after learning about Dulce he might…
Team Ulises intervention!!! Absolutely, 100%!!! That would be awesome, but also a little odd. The dead spouse shows up to convince the living one that their baby girl is a hell spawn!!! I’m here for it! I do think Rebeca is genuinely crazy, but I don’t think that’s an excuse for the things she’s done.
Gracias, amigas. Karmageddon marches in...
Since Rebecca is as manipulative as Rubi, losing a leg seems appropriate. If she ends up in prison she will have a tougher time defending herself. Killing her adoptive mother and possible MIL and the kidnapping of her sister will make her a target there.
No mental illness excuses any of her actions.
Elena got on my last nerve blaming herself for any if this. Rebecca was precociously evil and hid all her abuse of Angeli from their parents. It's too bad that Angeli can't remember those things.
Finale is next Friday.
Darcy, thank you for your lovely words.
"I can understand Pedrito being upset. He’s been hanging out in that barrio for years waiting for his mom to find him and everyone knows that. Now he learns mom knew where he was all along (as far as he knows) and didn’t say anything to him!!! That would be devastating! " You are exactly right; I have no doubt all of those thoughts are swirling around Pedrito's head. He is a child and this is all too much for him to process. I do think he has a forgiving heart and he and Wanda will reconcile.
"DE had Monica for a daughter for what 40+ or 50+ years? He’s got to be a jedi master at giving someone the benefit of the doubt by now!" was fabulous and oh so true!!
In terms of Ulises, I was thinking that perhaps he might be able to appear to convince Elena that none of Rebeca's murderous actions were her fault. Rebeca was "born that way" (Gaga). I would just like Elena to have a little soothing balm to the emoitional agony she has been experiencing.
Diana
Hi Urban and thank you.
"Rebecca was precociously evil and hid all her abuse of Angeli from their parents. It's too bad that Angeli can't remember those things" is perfect.
I have certainly been frustrated with Elena but I've always had a bit of pity reserved as I cannot imagine what she has been through.
I don't believe Rebeca suffers from mental illness alone. She has a huge amount of pure evil mixed in resulting in a very lethal combination.
Diana
"Elena, Gi, her fan and Angel are now at the hospital." I'm now convinced Gi is fashionably in menopause with her fans.
They haven't made clear what Rebeca's diagnosis is but whatever Angel and her baby are not safe with a free Rebeca. Elena needs to think about that.
Thanks so much Niecie.
"I'm now convinced Gi is fashionably in menopause with her fans" had me smiling away.
You are absolutely right in that Angel and her child are in grave danger until Rebeca is either jailed. Or buried!
Diana
Home, Misael bows his head, holding it in his hands, continuing to cry copious tears. Don Emilio walks in and sits down on the bed. Misael tells him he needn’t bother telling him to leave, he will gather his things. Don Emilio understandingly tells Misael he knows he’s confused and very hurt by what “that woman” did to him. Misael doesn’t even want to discuss her…she is dead to him! He then reflects that all the woman he loved destroyed him - his mother, Rebeca. He admits everyone was right; he was an imbecile to believe Rebeca. Don Emilio assures him that they are his family and won’t abandon him. When Misael asks if he believes him, Don Emilio replies that he knows Misael has made mistakes…but he also knows Misael can change and is willing to bet on him to become an honest man…a true Rivero Cuellar. “Gracias abuelo” Misael (looking genuinely grateful), hugging him and kissing him on the head.
JE tells Cris and Adolfo about Rebeca’s operation and they discuss Monica’s murder. Before leaving, JE asks Cris if she is feeling well; she looks as though she’s had trouble sleeping, but Cris assures (lies to) him she is well. As JE leaves, he asks Cris to take care of herself. Adolfo insists that Cris tell the family; she promises she will tell them tomorrow.
Don Emilio enters and tells them that his grandson is shattered but he did see repentance in his eyes; he is sure Misael will react well. When Pedrito runs in crying, Wanda explains that Rebeca told Pedrito that she is his mother. Don Emilio shakes his head sadly.
As Angel comforts Elena in the background, Gi tells Doris they are still waiting to hear news about Rebeca. The police are there so she will not be able to leave. Doris then turns and tells Sebas there is a possibility that Rebeca could lose a leg in addition to being arrested. Sebas then drops the bomb that Rebeca could be Monica’s murderer! “Que” Doris stammers, horrified.
Miracle worker Don Emilio sits on Pedrito’s bed, working his infinite kindness on the distraught child. He tells Pedrito that Wanda suffered for many years as she searched for her son. She wanted to prepare herself to be the best possible mother. He caresses Pedrito’s face and even manages to make him laugh. He gently asks – doesn’t he think Wanda should have a chance? She loves him very much.
Cris intercepts Misael asking him to wait until tomorrow to talk to Pedrito; he is very upset about finding out Wanda is his mother. Misael appreciates her support. After Cris tells him that his family has always supported and trusted him, Misael comments that his cousins were very lucky to have her as a mother. He now understands why his father still loves her. Cris then tells him that Rebeca was run over. He stares but utters not a word.
Diana
(Unaired) Fatima assures Luciano he will get out soon and tells him about the evidence they found.
(Unaired) JE tells Angel she should go rest but Angel wants to be there for her mother, certainly not for Rebeca whom she has no pity for.
Misael has joined the group at the hospital. The doctor comes out and tells them that the patient is out of danger…but she will have a limp for the rest of her life.
Rebeca wakes up (her leg lifted in a hideous metal contraption) and the nurse tells her the doctor will explain what happened. When Misael enters, she calls him “mi amor” He stares stonily and informs Rebeca she will have a limp for the rest of her life. When he is cold and hurtful, she asks what is wrong with him; he tells her he isn’t a hypocrite like her, he is glad to see her suffering. He knows she used him and faked the amnesia; she made a complete fool out of him. She is a master manipulator and the worst of all foxes.…she will pay because she killed his mother! Rebeca flashes back to shooting Monica in cold blood but cries she was defending herself and asks for forgiveness. Corral enters with her men and Rebecca is chained to the guardrail in handcuffs. She implores Misael to help but he is unmoved.
The doctor tells Elena that Rebeca also suffered trauma to her pelvis and will never be able to have children. She will spend several weeks in the hospital then will need several months of therapy. When he adds that they can see Rebeca, Elena hands her coffee off to Gi and then enters.
Rebeca asks Elena to take her out of there. Elena tells her that she will do what she can so the specialists can help her. Rebeca thinks the specialists will help her walk without a limp, so Elena clarifies that she is not talking about her physical issue (her leg) but is referring to her psychological issues (her head). Elena whispers that she isn’t well; the specialists will be able to conduct tests to see if they can determine what made her do things she should never have done. When Elena tells Rebeca that she can’t help her get out, Rebeca tells her to get out! Gi walks in as Rebeca screams at Elena to leave! All of a sudden, Rebeca sees Alma’s visage and starts freaking out; so Gi quickly ushers Elena out as Rebeca cowers, yelling “por favor”.
Diana
(Unaired) Misael mutters that he needs to forget Rebeca but the idiot still reminisces about his time with her; even whispering that he did love her.
Cris shares that she won’t give up. Adolfo smiles, encouraging her to continue with that positive attitude, all will turn out well. He then tells her that he has found a way to get her shares back from Rebeca. If the real Rebeca died, they could show that the person she gave the shares to doesn’t exist…and Cris’s shares will be returned to her. Cris thinks that is great news and is delighted! They hug tightly and she kisses him and thanks him.
JE holds Angel tenderly. Angel (inexplicably and unbelievably) feels at ease because Rebeca is no longer a threat to her or the baby. She feels they will be all right which JE echoes (prematurely I say). JE declares he will love her forever.
(Unaired) Adolfo tells Cris that she is everything to him and will not give up hope that they will be together again as they should have always been. He adds that he will wait but Cris tells him they don’t have to wait any longer!
The next day, Cris sees her hair on the pillow. Cris stiffens her spine and vows this will not defeat her, she will win! Adolfo brings Cris’s breakfast (he is so considerate) and she announces she has made a very important decision—she will love each day as if it were the last no matter how long she has. She will confront her disease with everyone’s support. Today she will tell (everyone) the truth.
(Unaired) Lucas tells Mati to keep on trying. He then tells her that Brayan is nowhere to be seen and is probably hiding out to avoid capture for shooting his mother.
Diana
Corral tells Fatima and Luciano that the stolen ring is up for sale on the internet. The agent has already communicated with the vendor; if it’s Brayan, he will be caught. They are also waiting for the results of the fingerprints they found on the containers. After Corral leaves, Fatima is hopeful that Luciano will be released soon.
Axel is looking at the ring when Brayan catches him, seeing him hide it. As Brayan grabs it, Axel tells him he got it at the hacienda. When Brayan claims it as his, Axel tells him he needs it to pay Memo’s bond. The police then roar up. They arrest Axel but Brayan manages to get away.
Cris goes to her hairdresser who calls her “mi vida”, greeting her warmly. He shows her a picture of a hairdo from Milan he’d love to give her but she asks that he shave her head. Stricken, he picks up the clippers and begins cutting…Cris winces as she looks in the mirror.
Bruno badgers Corral that he always told her he was innocent and threatens to sue. (Not so fast scumbag I sneer) Just in the nick of time, Angel arrives with a protective arm around Sandra who reports that Bruno abused her. Bruno stares threateningly at Sandra as Corral fixes Bruno with a livid stare, looking as though she’d love to snuff him out like the cockroach that he is. Go for it viewerville yells in unison!!
The guards arrive to transfer Luciano to prison, but the order for his release arrives simultaneously and the demand is made Luciano be freed immediately. Fatima tells JE she is so grateful to Adolfo! Luciano thanks Fatima for proving his innocence…and asks her to be the wife of this engineer who loves to be outside…under the blue sky. Fatima accepts!
JE tells Don Emilio that one of the thieves that broke into the hacienda was caught…and Luciano will be freed. Don Emilio wants to have a celebratory dinner but first, needs to talk about Misael. Don Emilio asks a reluctant JE to sit and asks if he can count on JE to support Misael, his primo. JE reluctantly agrees but vows this will be the very last time.
Diana
In a tender and touching scene, Wanda (wearing a modest polka dot lavender dress and huge red heart shaped hoops) tells Pedrito about when he was born. When Pedrito asks why she left, Wanda explains that she didn’t leave, he was taken from her. Misael enters and listens as Wanda continues that on that day, she felt she was going to die…she was always wondering if he was crying, was hungry or if he missed her. She didn’t know he was her son when she first saw him but she felt something very special for him and now understands that her heart instinctively knew who he was. She has never been a bad woman. Wanda adds that she loves him with all her heart but doesn’t want to hurt him. If he wants her to leave, she will go… he knows where to find her and she will receive him with open arms. Wanda starts to leave hand on her rolling suitcase but as she turns, Pedrito begs her not to go; sobbing as though his heart is breaking, he asks he stay with him.
Instead of being happy for Wanda and Pedrito and letting them have their moment, Misael moves forward to hitch his bandwagon to the reconciliation. He tells Pedrito he hopes he will also forgive him and give him a chance! Pedrito gives one of his famous scowls but says nothing.
At the restaurant, Angel tells a delighted Elena and Renato that they have been approved to enter the contest. They hug joyously.
At a comatose Santiago’s bedside, Sandra tells Santi about the contest and hopes he recovers so he can go claim the prize money. She strokes his cheek encouragingly.
Adolfo tells Angel and JE that Rebeca is claiming self-defense in Monica’s murder. JE is in disbelief that Rebeca will once again evade justice. Adolfo tells them that Rebeca will still be detained on the kidnapping charges…he doubts she will avoid going to prison. JE holds Angel tightly.
Don Emilio congratulates Pedrito for understanding that his mother’s love is most important thing and he thanks Misael for allowing Wanda to remain close to Pedrito (Don Emilio I add sternly, Misael need not be thanked for allowing Pedrito to be with his own mother; your usual excellent judgement has lapsed here). Apparently kindhearted Pedrito has forgiven Misael as he sits between him and Wanda on the couch and allows Misael to hug him.

Luciano and Fatima join the family to great joy. Don Emilio thanks Luciano for all he did. Mati gives Luciano a surprise—she stands! An emotional Luciano is overjoyed and kisses the top of her head. Luciano smiles they have an announcement but Fatima will wait until her mother arrives. Just then, Cris arrives…and tells them that now that everyone is there, she has something important to tell them. Wearing a tight black cap, she announces that she has cancer. Luciano hugs Fatima, JE looks stricken, Wanda puts her hand over her mouth and Don Emilio slumps in his chair. Cris gently strokes JE’s cheek.
Rebeca thanks Doris for coming to visit and insists she shot Monica in self-defense. Rebeca asks if she found out anything about the person who ran over her; so Doris reports that no one saw anything. A man comes in and hands Rebeca a document. She hands it to Doris to open and then Rebeca grabs it back, lacquered black talons still in place. Rebeca sees that Cris is trying to recoup her shares and crumples the document in disgust, throwing it on the floor.
Cris tells everyone that she’s there to celebrate life and those present. When her grandchild is born, she will spoil him. She only wants to see smiling faces and hear good news. JE stands against the wall as small smiles begin to appear. Luciano announces that he and Fatima will marry in six months; and Angel adds that the baby will be born. Cris vows she will not miss either event for anything in the world! Angel and JE flank Cris as Fatima, Luciano and Javi hug Mati. Pedrito runs right to Don Emilio…
Another riveting episode made more so by Rgv Chick’s skillful, deft dialogue translations. Understanding how important Wanda and Pedrito’s heartfelt conversation was, she related it beautifully; it moved me to tears. I am so grateful for her attention to every detail, great and small.
Diana
Diana and Partner, thank you for another great and fun to read recap. After reading so many of these little masterpieces I have realized that I am more spoiled than Pedrito.
Poor don Emilio, he has to comfort everybody in the family, one after another. It's a tough job, but he's up to it.
I would feel better or maybe worse, if I knew the severity of Cris's cancer. There is cancer and there is cancer.
I have always had mixed feelings about Misael, but aside from that it seems so strange after all he has done that he still gets to live at the Rivero Cuellar estate cozying up to Wanda and his son. Shouldn't he be in jail, or at least be publicly whipped in public?
The law in telenovelas is so very interesting. I think sometimes it makes more sense than much law in the U.S., and other times I wonder how anybody could have dreamed this stuff up.
So that particular Rebeca doesn't actually exist and couldn't get the shares... OK, works for me.
So Brayan took the ring from Axel, who now probably can't be charged for stealing it, and Brayan does have it. OK.
I am concerned and conflicted about the show on Monday. Will a weekend have passed or six months? There are still a lot of things to wrap up, and no self-respecting telenovela would allow us a full week of happy, happy, happy. Most of all I want to see a lame(?) Rebeca and see if she has plans to fix them all for what they did to her.
Andy
As Span prof noted, it is a good thing Rebeca can no longer have children. A few things that made me shake my head was the hair shaving. I'm guessing that was a wig getting clipped, which is why the hairdresser didn't actually shave it all the way down. So after Chris drops her bombshell I really expected Fatima to rush to her side. Instead the add their happy news and she hugs Mati.
About the self defense, was Monica's gun found at the scene (she had one so actually Reb may have a leg to stand on, let it be the broken one please)? Does anyone recall if Rebeca grabbed it along with the papers. I've forgotten what those papers were, was it Mauricio's confession or something.
And another thing, Elena reacting to the fact Rebeca would have a limp made it seem like a fate worse than losing the leg. I had to look up that word (cojear) just to see what shocked her so much.
SpanProf, thank you very much!.
"I have to say that almost felt sorry for Misael--almost but not quite". Exactly! I couldn't get there either.
I think we are in the majority in hoping they lock Bruno's door and throw away the key! :) I have also heard that inmates do not look kindly on rapists so Bruno may indeed face a bleak fate..
Hairdressers are amazing aren't they? I've had mine for years (and sorely need to make an appointment) but she is incredibly talented, smart and a miracle worker with my hair. So happy yours found her calling and went onto another wonderful career.
I don't believe there was any self defense involved when Beca shot Monica in cold blood...
Diana
Thanks Diana, and Rgv Chick, you knocked it out of the park as usual! A dramatic episode and now the engagements are piling up almost as much as the body count!
I don’t think the share thing is a ‘novela law’, it makes sense to me. A share transfer is a legal contract if Rebeca signed the name of a person who is dead then the contract is and should be invalid. She isn’t Rebeca whateverherlastnamewas, she never was that person died at birth and Alma later kidnapped Frida and passed her off as Rebeca. It’s a lucky technicality in this case but I’m pretty sure that would work in the real world. If you signed a contract with someone and then found out later, they signed it under someone else’s name, you could probably sue to have the contract voided due to fraud and win.
I can’t believe I’m about to type this sentence: I’m disappointed Beca didn’t lose her leg!!! LOL I thought that would be great karma, and a fun obstacle for her last stand but I suppose we’ll just have to watch her limp while Mati starts to walk.
So happy Bruno didn’t get out of jail!!!! Let him rot, let him rot, let him rot!!!
Andy, thank you so much. You always know exactly what to say...
Your insight was on fire today.
"I have always had mixed feelings about Misael, but aside from that it seems so strange after all he has done that he still gets to live at the Rivero Cuellar estate cozying up to Wanda and his son. Shouldn't he be in jail, or at least be publicly whipped in public?" Exactly, his preferential treatment is for the birds. Thank you for characterizing this miscarriage of justice so well!
"I would feel better or maybe worse, if I knew the severity of Cris's cancer. There is cancer and there is cancer". I'm so glad you brought this up; they've been rather stingy on the details so we will have to see what happens. I'm praying for the best.
I fear you are right in that "no self-respecting telenovela would allow us a full week of happy, happy, happy". In most of the recent TN's, even the grand finale has been action packed leaving precious little time for the HEAs we look forward to. All I can say is that I want to see Doris gliding down the aisle into the arms of her Prince Charming. The writers best not deprive us of that!
Diana
Kat, I also was fairly sure the hairdresser was cutting a wig, they were careful to show only the initial shearing.
"So after Chris drops her bombshell I really expected Fatima to rush to her side". Ordinarily, I would totally agree with you; but in this case, Cris was adamant "she only wants to see smiling faces and hear good news". I think Fatima wanted to buoy her mother's spirits and judging by Cris' reaction, mission accomplished.
Diana
Darcy, thank you for your lovely words.
"So happy Bruno didn’t get out of jail!!!! Let him rot, let him rot, let him rot!!!" Perfect, all we need to do now is to set it to music! :)
"...the engagements are piling up almost as much as the body count!" had me laughing away. So true!
"She isn’t Rebeca whateverherlastnamewas, she never was that person died at birth and Alma later kidnapped Frida and passed her off as Rebeca. It’s a lucky technicality in this case but I’m pretty sure that would work in the real world" was wonderful. Your amazing analytical skills and ability to explain things so clearly never fail to impress. Thank you!
Diana
Thanks once again, Diana and Rgv Chick. There is no down time in this telenovela, only action and more action!
I was surprised Rebeca didn’t accuse Misael of running her down. I was sure she saw him, but maybe it was just Misael seeing her.
When Chris walked in with the hat on my first thought was “what bad timing” because Fatima was just about to announce her engagement, but wanted to wait for her mom. So she really had to tell as she had told them she had news.
Don Emilio sure is the head of the family. He can handle any problem and calm anyone down. When Pedro was sitting between Wanda and Misael I was thinking they could have been a happy family. I think Monica ruined their chances. And did Misael hear the part where someone took her baby from her. I hope so.
I thought Rebeca had lost her leg, Everyone was so shocked and Elena was so upset. I hate to say I was disappointed that it’s only a limp. Makes me seem not so nice! I think the doctor for her cabeza will keep her out of jail, so we’ll have 5 more days of the main bad guys wrecking havoc on the good guys. Just my opinion.
Liz
Thanks Liz.
"When Pedro was sitting between Wanda and Misael I was thinking they could have been a happy family. I think Monica ruined their chances." That scene definitely reflected your thought. Yes, I believe Misael did hear Wanda tell Pedrito he was taken from her (which he knows Monica did). It's always bothered me though that while Misael professed he loved Wanda long ago we never saw the slightest trace of it in present.
"Don Emilio sure is the head of the family. He can handle any problem and calm anyone down" is exactly right. He is a miracle worker!
Yes, "no down time in this telenovela, only action and more action!" I think this will be full speed ahead with a lot more madness and mayhem to come :)
Diana
Dear Diana And Chickie, thank you for guiding us through all the drama and gloomy doom.
First, Andy, your comments are so good natured, wry, and insigtful,.They are such a pleasure to read . Indeed, we are All " more spoiled than Pedro." That gave me a smile and had me nodding my head in agreement. Diana and Chick have spoiled us all with their consistently outstanding accounts of this wild and crazy story.
Wasn't it a miracle the way Reb woke up after being Hit .By.A.Car all perky and ready to rumble? That is one sturdy girl. Could she be a robot? Reb, the Energized bunny. Or maybe she's,a Timex " ...takes a lickin" and keeps on tickin
Susan'
Diana: Howdy from the Alamo City CarayCaray Family. Nice job with the recap of yesterday afternoon's episode.
Did Buji Romina go down yet for her heinous mistreatment of her own kids yet ? Plus, when's the Gran Final ?
Gracias, amigas!
I was also disappointed that Rebecca didn't lose the leg; I'll be satisfied if it's just deformed enough to make walking difficult and/or painful.
We don't need any more bad seeds so it's good she can't become pregnant.
I dearly hope that Eugenia Cauduro didn't have to sacrifice her own hair for the rest of this story.
Best performances in this episode were Eric del Castillo and Andre Sebastian. I don't normally enjoy child actors but this kid was great.
Hi Susan and thank you.
Andy's comments are everything you noted above and always so witty they never fail to make me laugh.
"That is one sturdy girl. Could she be a robot?" was great; she really seems rather indestructible. The force with which she was hit would likely have killed any mortal being. But not Beca! :)
Diana
Steve, hi and thank you.
We will not be fortunate enough to not see Romina again. Will she make it to her supposed new job out of the country? I doubt it.
The finale is Friday.
Diana
Urban, thank you very much.
I have no doubt her Rebeca's leg will cause her a great deal of pain and that she will have difficulty walking.
I agree with Kat in thinking Eugenia was wearing a wig as her locks were shorn.
"Best performances in this episode were Eric del Castillo and Andre Sebastian. I don't normally enjoy child actors but this kid was great". Totally agree! Eric is amazing; Andre has been in several TNs already and he just melts my heart every time. I have to say that I really enjoy all the younger set, including Loli and Javi.
Diana
Diana and Rgv Chick, thank you for all you do for us.
Susan, thank you for your extremely kind comment! I enjoy your comments as well, and I enjoy all the comments here. Sometimes we are all in agreement, sometimes there are different opinions on something in the story. It all helps and contributes to our enjoyment beyond just watching the telenovela. The recaps and comments are at least half the fun.
Occasionally I wonder if Diana isn't a robot, giving us great recaps day after day, week after week. But then, I know she is not a robot because there is always too much human insight in her recaps and comments.
I hope we continue having so much fun.
:-)
Andy
Andy, you are so kind; your words mean so very much.
Recapping this has been a joy.
How lucky am I? I have Rgv Chick, my amazing wing woman without whom I would never "fly right" and this incredible patio, brimming with wit and wisdom.
Although the episodes challenge me daily, the camraderie here has been supportive and staunch. I believe we bring out the best in each other and although we don't always agree, are unfailingly open to differing opinions. Such a smart and insightful group...
Susan, I agree that some of the nicest people I have ever "met" have been here and I am so grateful..
Diana
Diana and Rgv Chick, you two make an amazing team. Thanks for your 125th!!! recap.
"Instead of being happy for Wanda and Pedrito and letting them have their moment, Misael moves forward to hitch his bandwagon to the reconciliation." -- That's Misael alright. Grrrh, and he hasn't apologized to Wanda for his mother or himself.
Yay! Sandra reported Bruno.
Thank you Niecie! Yes, 125 epis in, I can hardly believe it. 5 more to go.
"That's Misael alright. Grrrh, and he hasn't apologized to Wanda for his mother or himself". So very true, he is so selfish and self centered; I think Karma is coming and it starts with a capital "R"...
I hope Bruno's goose is thoroughly cooked now...
Diana
