PAPAS #44 Part 1

Previously, the doctor told Tino that Emiliano needs an operation that can only be performed in the United States.

The doorbell rings at Aidé’s. Circe opens the door, with Aidé right behind her. We now see who had called Circe earlier…with a smile, Circe welcomes Jason and Paulina. Aidé is not caught unaware.

We see a flashback of Paulina and Jason, in Seattle, in love. They are at dinner as he talks about wanting children, getting a bit emotional and they toast. He then pulls out a box containing a large diamond ring and asks her to marry him. She accepts and they seal the deal with a kiss.

Back to the present, Aidé stares at Paulina and immediately says to her, “you are the mother of Lila and Emi right??” She is not happy to see them, a bit defensive. Jason smiles and thanks Circe. Circe explains what happened. She posted a picture of Paulina (for Lila) which Jason saw. Paulina talks about Tino as Aidé stares suspiciously.

Tino and the doctor continue the conversation about Emi’s operation.

Clara Luz continue to chastise Rudolf. He apologizes saying he was “only” trying to get information on Guzmán (yeah right). The two start bickering and in the heat of the moment, sparks flying, Rudolf grabs Clara Luz and kisses her just as Felipe comes up. The men start arguing and Clara Luz has to physically separate them. She berates Felipe a bit and he agrees violence isn’t the answer. She stalks off leaving the two alone to bash their antlers a bit more. She later talks with Felipe. I think he gives her some sort of Karaoke gift. She tells him about Rudolf’s latest not so greatest adventure trying to get the tea on Guzmán. They hug each other.

Paulina hangs onto Jason’s arm as Aidé asks Circe to take Jason for some refreshment.

Aidé talks with Paulina telling her she knows she abandoned her children. Paulina repeats the statement in disbelief. She acts the injured party feeling attacked and Aidé said this isn’t her intention. Paulina then apologizes faking sadness and taking Aidé ‘s hands in hers playing the grieving mother part.

Tino talks to Emi about his mother; Emi seems to say Lila really misses her. He calls Bertha and tells her not to worry.. Then his phone runs out of power. Augusto calls Bertha…

Chofis is in her room as Oliver texts her, calling her his novia.

PAPAS #44 Part 2

We see Paulina and Jason outside as he tells her she isn’t alone. She frets about Tino…He tells her what a grand mother she will be (as bile rises in my throat). She fake cries asking him to forgive her…

Aidé and Circe visit Bertha; they make it clear how much they care about Lila and Emi. All of a sudden, Lila comes in and asks what’s going on,

Tino plays airplane with what looks like some disgusting cold gruel with Emi who makes a face.

Tino pulls back the tray just as Paulina and Jason enter. Tino stares, shocked as Jason nods. Paulina goes up and takes Emi’s hand as Tino stares impactada. To his credit, Tino maintains his cool as Jason says the important thing is that your mother is here, alive. Paulina grabs her son’s hand as Jason explains to Emi that he is her husband. Paulina is on the bed hugging him as she stares at Tino who looks on gravely.

Aidé seems to tell Circe it wasn’t her place to facilitate the reunion. Uli comes out and learns what’s transpired.

Emi seems happy to see his mother. Tino asks to talk to Paulina alone…Just then, Bertha and Lila come in. “Mama” Lila says “you are alive” rushing into her mother’s arms. Tino is beside himself.

Fed (a leopard princess) rings Tino’s bell but there is no answer. A process server delivers what I believe is a legal notice from Guzmán.

Aidé, Circe and Uli continue their discussion. Lila and Emi are my family Circe argues trying to defend her actions. Uli backs her up. They walk off Aidé staring after them.

Lila is beside herself saying how happy she is. Jason comes up and hugs Paulina’s shoulders. Bertha looks like she is fit to be tied. Poor Tino, showing remarkable restraint, still only stares. Lila makes her feelings clear as Tino can only swallow and look on rather expressionlessly, unwilling and unable to tell his adored daughter the truth.

Fed confronts Guzmán but I think he accuses her of being in love with Tino. True enough.

Chofis and Checo have some ice cream and conversation. He asks her about Oliver and she acts like an infatuated teenager which she is.

PAPAS #44 Part 3 of 3

Back at Emi’s hospital bed, Bertha stands next to Tino, looking very upset. Paulina holds Lila, flanked by Jason. I was a bit lost here, does he try and explain about the lack of money?

Aidé and Guzmán talk but as with any conversation with him, I couldn’t follow it. Circe and Uli come out and ask her why she was confiding in Guzmán who says something about Maximax.

Lila continues to fawn over her mother, basking in the joy of her presence. “Mi bebe” Paulina nauseatingly calls Emi.

Tino tries to talk to Jason but he staunchly defends his wife. “Esta bien mi amor” he tells Paulina then leaves. Tino does confront her after Jason leaves.

I believe Felipe gives Clara Luz he has either found or is on the verge of finding where Pipe is.

Brenda strongarms Paulina, pulling her into one of the hospital rooms, berating her but Paulina merely sneers at her pulling her arm away.

Circe talks to Aidé recalling Chintolo threatening Checo and how brave Tino was.

Paulina greets her hub with shopping bags. He says something I missed.

In the last scene, Tino talks with Emi and Lila. Can someone kindly fill in what was said?

I commend Tino for suppressing every hurtful emotion that was likely swirling in his head. Even though Paulina told Jason Tino basically forced her out of her children’s lives, Jason also acted very civilly.

Most of the dialogue eluded me, I wrote on the emotions (mostly suppressed) that I saw/sensed. Kindly fill in and thank you in advance.

Las hijas #48 part 1

Juan's mother is giving him martial advice while dad tells her he's a big boy, he can handle it himself. Cami comes in all smiles. She tells them the good news that daddy's alive. None of them seem thrilled, which I don't understand. Were they counting on her inheritance to raise their standard of living and getting them out of the barrio?

O and Paula have declared war. Don't mess with my daughter. It would be a shame if Leo divorced you for reasons I know. You won't like going back down in the world....

When Cami gets into the details of the attack on Luis and the fact that the thieves died in the crash Susana supposes that the baby is Luis'. Now she's happy. Juan not so much. Cami wants to move back home for a few days to spend time with Dad, with Juan. He says nothing but leaves the table and house. Jacinto follows him to talk. Cami is confused. Susana tries to justify Juan's mood on lack of sleep.

Juan's upset because he thought Mars's babe was his .. Jacinto comforts him.

Amparo talks with Val. She knows Val loves Arturo, she had never seen her so happy. Val agrees but then things went wrong, he didn't believe in me. I'm done with love.

Juan's decided to concentrate on his marriage. Cami will help him forget Mar.

So now it's dark, did Jacinto and Juan go out for a pint? They enter their house and tell Susana Juan has his head on straight now. Where's Cami? Dad called her and she went to her home. Juan is going after her
 

Las hijas #48 part 2

Jacinto tells Susana that Juan still loves Mar, he thought the baby was his. Susana thinks he needs to forget her.

O brings Mar some tea in her room. She says everyone is downstairs. They treated you like garbage. Mar says the family is broken and it's our fault. O disagrees.

Time for the chewing out of the children. Luis is totally disillusioned in them. They try to justify their actions by saying the baby wasn't his, but since the wrong body was used they realize they were wrong.yis tells them the baby will be born a Portillo and that's it. Cami will never accept as a sibling the child of a servant. (Once again Luis has an angry outburst which doesn't affect his heart.)

O gets to the cruc of the matter. How in the world could you trust Paula? I told you she's a viper. Gullible Mar says no, she's a good person. Well then how did they get the DNA proof. She brought you to the doctor. Mar seems to get it now.

Back with Luis the kids still trying to defend their actions. If there was another reason you married Mar tell us. Luis thinks for a second, Cami is out of there. Nick is also gone after saying something about his will not being important to him. I think Arturo is moving out too, but not sure. Leo is sticking it out (darn). He doesn't want to leave his family home full of memories. He promises to not make problems with Mar, but don't ask him to accept her .

O gives Mar a look. I told you so, you can't believe in anyone in this house. Mar says not all people are like you mom, O fires back, some are worse. Mar doesn't want to live in a world where she can trust nobody. O says yes it's sad, but it's the truth. But you can trust me, I'll never hurt you. I'll love that baby too.

Juan's arrives to rescue Cami. She's happy to see him. He kisses her rather passionately and they leave. Nick and Arturo watch them go.

Graciela arrives home to an upscale apartment. She picks up a phot of Luis and herself and says I hope you don't regret the decisions you've made.

Nick and Arturo talk outside. Nick asks did you speak with Valeria? Yes. She says she wants nothing more to do with me. Nick's advice is to reconcuest her.

Luis returns to his room. Mar asks how he's doing. He'll see his doctor tomorrow. He's heartbroken about his children. He tells Mar it isn't her fault. He's back and will care for her.

Val gets a call from Rocio. Do you remember me. I need to see you. I need 5 minutes of your time please.



 

Las hijas #48 part 3

Graciela the next morning...she's watching the local news which talks about Luis return from the dead. She sees the interview with Nick and Rocio is in the throng of reporters.

Juan's going to work. Cami is resting a bit longer ( did they have a lot of exercise last night?), then she's going home and getting some of her things I think. Juan offers to take her.

Luis gets a good report from the Dr. He still recommends being careful. Luis is ready to retake control of his business and family.

Mar leaves her room. Paula enthusiastically hugs her. Mar shoves her off and tells her she's a hypocrite. She tells her you are the one that got the DNA proof and you are a liar.

Val meets with Rocio. Val is running late for work. Make it quick. Rocio decides she's trustworthy. I never was a nanny in the house. One of the sons is my son.

Paula tries to cover her tracks. The Dr I took you to is also Cami's. She must have been behind the DNA. Gullible Mar says you swear you had nothing to do with it. Of course not l, Paula says. Didn't I tell you were are in the same position in this house and that I'll look out for you. Mar has to think about it

Rocio continues to tell Val her history of why she let the Portillo's raise her son. Val thinks she is crazy. Rocio says I don't know if my son is Arturo or Nick.

Luis is back at work. Hector shows him Val's contract. Luis thinks her salary is low. Hector says it's because she's inexperienced. Luis wants to modify the contract to add housing. She needs it. ( I didn't totally understand this)

Val refuses to help Rocio. She's not going to hurt Arturo.

Is sitting on a sofa demanding coffee from Rosita as she taps on her phone. (Is she playing candy crush or something). Paula comes in and insults her but O shuts her down. Then Mar comes in. O asks her to sit. Mar is going out to the garden. O says something about kings to her phone. Maybe she's playing solitaire....

Cami and Juan arrive. He'll wait for her outside. Don't take too much stuff, our room is small, he advises.

Nick's at work. Val arrives. He offers her some tea, which she accepts. He he asks how's she doing. Arturo loves you. Nick is pouring himself some tea and he turns towards her and they collide spilling hot tea him. Val is all apologetic and tries to wipe him up. Hector comes in and interrupts them.

Luis tells his sons in the boardroom that he is in charge. He needs to sign off on everything in the company now. The sports line was mentioned. I guess it's behind schedule. Hurry up with the photos.

Mar sees Juan outside. He tells her she's changed, except her eyes are the same. He insults her and she tells him to leave.

Val is doing ok in the photo shoot until Arturo arrives. He tries to advise her and she demands a break and leaves

Juan tells Mar I thought that baby was mine and we were always going to be together.

"Cami will never accept as a sibling the child of a servant" . And there you have it; Cami is completely irredeemable. As Carlos used to say, "next!"

None of these leopards are changing their spots are they?

Ofelia is totally right in that the "family" did "treat Mar like garbage". That said, Mar really is clueless. Ofelia had to spell out Paula's treachery step by step yet it seems Mar might already be weakening (yet again) and will likely end up forgiving Paula.

I was impactada over Graciela's luxurious apartment!

"Juan tells Mar I thought that baby was mine and we were always going to be together". Have things gone too far for that to happen? We'll have to wait and see.

Kat, thanks for the great recap of a “meh” capítulo.

Diana, you are so right about Mar being absolutely clueless and most likely to forgive Paula. I guess that’s what happens when Ofelia has kept Mar “ in waiting” for her modeling career that has never arrived. She seems to have been protected at all cost from most real life experiences and being an “investment” for Ofelia more than anything else.

As for Luis and Mar, after all of the drama of his return, neither his kids or Ofelia have changed one bit. They only seem to have only have dug their heels in harder forcing Luis to more extreme actions at the company. ALL of his kids should be living independently outside the mansion especially Leonardo and instigator Paula. I am getting BORED with the same old same old actions and attitudes of these highly unlikable people episode after episode. I need more of a plot line than just everyone hating each other.

So, Amparo was trying to talk Valeria into not being so hard with Arturo. What’s that about since he has not behaved well at all. She should be telling Val to RUN. What’s “love” got to do with Val’s well being? At least Valeria has broken away from Ofelia and sounds like she is DONE with Arturo

Luis is offering the stipend as an additional benefit to Valeria because he wants to improve her living conditions. That's all.

So how long does it take to do a fashion shoot for a clothing line with a model experienced or not? Give me a break!

So Luis is taking back the power ... I wasn't aware he had ever really have it up, since his kids are all pretty unreliable.

I'd say Nick is the exception, but he has chosen to work with Art and Val and their personal matters are impacting his project.
He's paying for Val's private tutoring, paying for the team to go shoot outside the city only to have the two clowns locked in a cabin just to talk and kiss and make up? The shooting are always stopped because Val needs a break or she can't deal with Art or some other family drama is happening at the same time.
These are all bad business moves and Nick will have to take action if he wants to make his sportswear see the light of day.

Mar is just beyond belief. Instead her mother telling her she was pretty, she should have showed her how to read people a little better, Paula is playing her like a fiddle.

Funny how Luis almost died and was lost for several days, probably without his medicine, but his heart is doing fine. I bet that after a few days with his beloved he will get back to feeling sick.

Also, Luis wants to help Val and the way I understood it, he'd like to pay for a place for her to live.
Knowing Val, will she accept? Maybe if Nick offers it to her... he does have a way to convince her to do stuff.

Thanks, Diana, that was great. You get a lot from the emotions. There was a lot I didn’t understand but I did get a few things. Before Jason proposed he told Paulina he was sterile. He really wanted children but couldn’t have them. She said being with him was enough. Then he proposed.

Ruldof apparently saw the school info on Guzman’s computer. Felipe had someone to investigate using the dates. I thought he said Pipe never left Mexico. But that didn’t make sense to me, so hopefully someone can correct me if I’m wrong.

Guzman repeated to Aide that Tino was a delinquent and she told the twins this. They didn’t believe it.

I was surprised at how civil Jason and Paulina were. Tino supposedly kept the children from her. And we know she abandoned them, but there weren’t really any accusations. Paulina said something about trying to find them, maybe Lila was the one who said they moved around a lot. Which we know they did at the beginning of the show.

Graciela's opulent apartment isn't being rented out . I had a student from Rome who raid that she hadn't rented out her apartment because it is too hard to get the renters to leave when you want to return to the live there !

So...welcome back from the dead, Luis ...and it is the same old, same old . I stress if being overjoyed to have their dad back ,the kids are still ticked at you because of your will and marriage , especially spoiled tyrant Cami and Paula's puppet Leo, the non lion hearted . If they only had a brain, a heart, some courage .

Jarifa, I loved your comment about Mar being O's " investment." Bingo!

O's problem is that she has to act like the queen of the castle ordering those makes around instead of keeping a low profile.

I love the way these mansion women get all dressed up in heels and fancy dresses ...to just stay home . Susan

Thanks Kat, great recap! I thought Juan’s parents looked disappointed that Luis was alive. I never even thought about the inheritance! I bet that’s it.

I was glad Val said no to Rocio. That whole storyline doesn’t make sense. You would know your child’s birthdate and I’m sure it’s easy enough to find out the ages of any of the Portillo’s.

Nick is the only decent kid in that family. Camila’s a spoiled snob, Arturo had been a typical spoiled rich kid. I thought he was changing, but not sure now. Leo may have been ok in the past but with Paula manipulating him he’s not even decent.

Mar really needs to learn to “read” people. Paula wasn’t nice to her when she was working in the house. Has she forgotten that, or was it something only the viewers were aware of. Even Paula’s explanation didn’t make sense. If Paula took her to the doctor how would Camila even had found out. And gotten the money to bribe the doctor.

This was my favorite between this and Papas. Right now I’m enjoying Papas more. I did watch Juegos over the weekend and it’s good. I wonder if it will take the whole series to prove the cousins hit the brothers.

Dear Diana, thank you for another great review .

Poor Tino cannot get a break . I love Ernesto ( Jason) , and he seems very pleasant , but I am afraid that he wants to take Emi and Lila away from Tino , who has been a loving and devoted father . He and Bertha know that Paulina does not want those children that she abandoned . She has what she wants ...a rich , devoted husband . I hope Jason doesn't become a bad guy . Perhaps he will get Emi the medical help he needs.

Guzman seems to be more of a monster than we thought . Susan

Ahhh, so Jason is sterile. That explains why he loves children but didn't have any. That must have been manna from heaven from loathsome Paulina who didn't even want the two children she had. Blech.

Paulina tried to look for her children? I don't believe her...Like you Liz, I'm surprised Jason kept his cool but am even more amazed Tino managed to look fairly impassive as Paulina spewed her love for her children after leaving them in the dust.

Diana, Tino puts his children before everything and I don’t think he’d ever want them to know she abandoned them. So he told them she died. I think having a child with special needs was more than she could handle, but maybe she would have left two healthy kids too. Paulina seems most interested in herself, and money. He’s like that with Aide’s kids too. Being there for all of them.

Susan, I appreciate your nice words.

Your comment that Paulina "...has what she wants ...a rich , devoted husband" was spot on. If Paulina ever felt a twinge of regret about leaving her children (which seems unlikely) the truth is she never searched for them which reflects a cold, callous heart.

Because he's been lied to, Jason has no idea of what Tino has gone through for his children and how much he loves them. If he believes he and Paulina could give them a more loving (and wealthier) home, I won't be surprised if he urges Paulina to get custody.

I'm hoping Aide will come to her senses and pay Emi's medical bills...

Liz, I completely agree that Tino went above and beyond in trying to protect his children, going so far as to shield them from their mother's cruel abandonment by telling them she died. He has been an exceptional father to his and Aide's children.

Paulina is someone who never should have had children. She is contemptuous and undeserving. It also bothered me that she never said anything at all to Jason leading me to think she was living with what she's done without an aching conscience. She got caught in a lie, plain and simple.

I'm watching the episode currently. Were Tino and Paulina married. She would have had to find him to get divorced, right, or vice versa. Maybe she's a bigamist. Paulina has cooked u.a pretty good story to cover her tracks, but knowing your rich husband wants kids and not telling him you have 2 that were stolen from you stretches the plausibility factor by a mile.

Diana, how bout I do tomorrow night. That works better into my schedule.

Yes, the kids are unchanged and unrepentant. But maybe they didn't really have enough time to even process the shock let alone turn over new leaves during the whole 4 mins and 45 seconds that daddy was fake dead?

I actually don't like Graciela's apartment. I mean it's sophisticated and fancy and all, but way too big and sterile and empty for one person... it felt cold, I think. She's cold too though so it suits her.

I agree with you Liz, 100% Rocio makes no sense, how does she not know? Why does she ask everyone but them? Unless it's a funeral or a near death experience and then she barges right in and tries to interrupt the proceedings with her weird sob story.

Also weird is O's obsessive need to control Mar. It gave me the creeps listening to her telling Mar how she can't trust ANYONE....except mommy of course. Should Mar trust Paula, of course not, but does she need to distrust absolutely every single person in her world except her mommy, NO!!! But that's what O wants!!! It's eww!!! She didn't even make an exception for Val and that probably wasn't an oversight. Mar is absolutely right, who would want to live a life where you couldn't trust anyone?

PAPAS #45 Part 1

Previously: Thanks to Circe, Paulina, (along with supportive husband Jason in tow), materialized out of thin air sparking a heartfelt reunion with Lila and Emi (well at least on the children’s part). We learned Jason loves children but was unable to father them …Tino handled Paulina’s reappearance with remarkable emotional restraint although he, Bertha (and even Aidé) are skeptical, worried as to Paulina’s true motivation…

We see a flashback to Paulina hugging a child’s piece of clothing. She is wearing a flowered dress. There is a suitcase nearby and she sits to write a letter.

Lila is giving a shellshocked Tino an earful about her mother. Bertha tells Lila she isn’t in Tino’s shoes more than intimating she has no idea what he’s feeling (the unfettered truth). Lila finally quiets down.

Paulina is telling Jason something about “no way”. He talks about returning to the US, she seems to say her children are tethered to Tino. I believe Jason talks about the excellent doctors the US offers. It is obvious he is already highly invested in the children as we wonder if she feels similarly. They kiss.

Circe and Uli are facing Aidé telling her what a traitor Guzmán is. Aidé starts to text him but changes her mind.

Felipe and Clara Luz discuss something regarding Maxiclick; she is upset.

Jason and Tino talk on the phone; I believe they want to take Lila out; Lila is thrilled. Bertha and Tino leave the room talking about Paulina and Jason. Tino admits Paulina is the children’s mother ceding her some leeway.

Guzmán congratulates Clara Luz as she turns, making a face starting to vent to Lichita.

Clara Luz looks thoughtfully at Rudolf’s contact info on her phone.

PAPAS #45 Part 2

Aidé and Dámaso (our prime candidate for being the twins’ father) discuss the gamut of emotions she is feeling. She talks about the love Tino has for her children. Their meeting ends on a positive note she hugs him and he seems to nestle his neck into her a bit too long and lingering as they hug.

Circe calls Tino; he immediately asks his hija if everything is all right, she verifies it is. Emi calls out to his sibs; Circe would rather see Eli than talk to him. “Please, please” we hear Emi begging in the background.

Another darn Maxiclick meeting. Guzmán takes some sort of vote, everyone (even a reluctant Chano) raise their hands. Muy bien he says. Afterwards, a late to the meeting Fed tells Chano she is watching him. Clara Luz tries to talk to Guzmán about Pipe (once again) but he blows her off.

Emi talks to his grandmother about his mother. Circe and Uli arrive with brightly wrapped presents. Love was in the air; Tino says the most important thing is the love of your siblings. Bertha gets very emotional as the kids sit on his bed. Outside Emi’s room, Bertha privately expresses her worry about Lila to Tino who takes Uli and Circe outside. He is very concerned about Guzmán (with good reason!)

Emi talks about his mother returning. He is muy contenta as Uli raises an eyebrow.

Paulina and Jason are at lunch with Lila, who is beaming. Jason is already acting as a (way too) devoted stepfather. Lila says how happy she is.

Tino shows up at Aidé’s with Circe and Uli, telling her they went to see Emi. She calms down and Tino tells her about Emi’s latest health status. She looks concerned as he walks away.

Rudolf calls Tino, “Hermano” Tino answers. Rudolf says something about Maxiclick.

Aidé seems to scold the children for visiting Emi. Little Scarlet is there and obviously out of the loop.

PAPAS #45 Part 3 of 3

Emi is now home. Paulina, Lila and Jason arrive at Tino’s laden down with packages like pack mules. Tino swallows as Jason mentions they have things for Emi. Paulina pets Lila like a cat. Emi comes in and Jason hands him a bag. “Wow for me” Emi effuses. Tino asks Lila and Emi to leave for a moment. Jason has his arms folded and Paulina stares. Jason seems to say it’s important that Paulina make up for all the lost time with her children. Jason start to get ahead of himself and Paulina reels him back in. Lila comes in running to her mother and hugging her. Tino looks on concerned.

Lichita talks to Chofis as a cute Chuchito puts a brush up to his sister’s face.

Guzmán is giving an interview (Clara Luz and Igor present); he is actually taking credit for creating Maximax!!

Felipe and Tino meet; Felipe hands him his phone and shows him the interview. Tino is impactada, venting his frustration to Felipe.

Chano comes home; Chofis makes herself scarce. Lichita brings up the divorce again. Chano looks sad and chastised. He takes her hands but she pulls them away. They just cannot get on the same page. Chofis is in bed but I couldn’t see what she was looking at on her phone. She and Oliver exchange texts, planning something for the next day.

Guzmán and Fed verbally spar about Tino.

Lila texts Paulina and we see her roll her eyes, confirming her true feelings. (It was as viewerville suspected but it was sad to see nevertheless). Jason comes in and I can’t translate his part of the conversation but Paulina did say that (like it or not), Tino is the children’s father. We see the flashback to a scowling Paulina opening Aidé’s letter.

Clara Luz shows a shocked Aidé Guzmán’s interview, taking credit for creating Maximax. She calls Guzmán and reams him out saying he is wrong and that Tino deserves his rightful credit. He doesn’t seem the least bit phased.

Just then, Tino comes up and confronts Guzmán as Igor slithers away.

Paulina and Jason talked and the only thing I could glean is that she noted how concerned Tino is with Emi.

Fed walks in, interrupting Clara Luz and Aidé so Clara Luz leaves. Fed says something that startles Aidé which I gather is important so please provide what was said if you are able.

Guzmán’s tantalizes Tino who is standing up to him. Guzmán’s mentions jail and the words are barely out of his mouth when the police show up and Tino is arrested!

Tonight was difficult especially because of all of the short, choppy scenes. I wish I could have translated more of the conversations, particularly what Jason said. Kindly add what I missed, thank you so much.

Las hijas, Capitulo 49
Part 1/3

Juan speaks badly to Mar, they start fighting about who hurt who the most, Mar's ambtion etc etc... Ofelia intervenes, demanding that Juan leave Mar alone. Then when he's gone, she scolds Mar, be careful because someone could see you. Stop being so reckless! You will continue to run into one another, because he is your step-daughter's husband. Same old, same old.
Back to his car, Juan texts Camila to tell her he had to leave, but he'll be back shortly.
Then Ofelia goes to talk to Camila, who at first doesn't give her the time of day. But Ofelia wants to warn her about Juan, she has to keep an eye on him. He needs to stop going after Mar. Camila says Juan loves her, but Ofelia asks her to stop lying to herslef. All she demands is that Camila keep Juan away from her daughter. Then she leaves, mocking Camila's words about being better than Mar.
This infuriates Camila, who starts screaming. Then she falls to the floor, crying and cursing the Garcias.

Luis finds out the Art and Nick's shooting has been stopped and is mad because they are wasting company money.
Val is having a hard time because of what Rocio told her. Art wants to talk, but she is not willing to listen, asks him to leave her dressing room.
She does talk to Nick, who was just behind Art. Her voice is completely different, she just asks him to give her a few minutes, she'll be back to work. Art witnesses this exchange, Nick has to drag him away from the dressing room.
Art doesn't undesrstand how he can fix things with Val if she won't even talk to him. He can't be around her and stay away at the same time. But it's not like Nick can understand that!
Ha, yes he can, but they are interrupted by the news that Luis is searching for them.
He scolds them boys for being so late with their work. They have a month to finish.

Val apologizes for having provoked this. Nick wants to continue working and put aside their personal issues. Both Art and Val agree, but Val needs a favor. Art can't be around during the photo sessions.
Art asks Val to look him in the eye and tell him that she wants him gone. Val does just that, asks him to leave. She feels bad after, but Nick assures her he will no longer be around when she is working.
He goes after Art, then, saying Val only needs some space for now. But Art is afraid the photos won't be as good without him, Nick has to insist that they need to give Val some time.


Ofelia tells Mar she "fixed" everything. Juan will no longer be a bother. Mar demands to know what happened, so Ofelia explains she asked Camila to keep an eye on her husband. Since Mar forgets all common sense when she sees him, someone has to do it for her.

Paula calls Juan to tell him Camila is in a bad shape, crying. And we can see that her room paid the price for her latest crisis. He better come get her. Camila doesn't appreciate Paula's interference, she pushes her out of her room.

 

Las hijas, Capitulo 49
Part 1/3

Juan comes for Camila and finds her on the floor of her bedroom. She asks about Mar, what were they doing together? She still has some screaming left in her, she tells him "you're mine!" He keeps running to find Mar, but he needs to stay away from that woman.
She's done fighting, they better go. She grabs her very high heels and her luggage, reminds him that she is his wife and he better respect her.
They get down the stairs and are about to leave, but Camila starts screaming again (this poor actress must be exhausted when she is done working), calling for Mar.
She arrives, followed by Ofelia. Camila demands that she stay away from her husband, threatens to take drastic measure if she doesn't. Mar says she just ran into him, but Camila keeps screaming.
Enter Luis, demanding to know what hapepend. Camila doesn't think her father would listen, she only wants Mar to respect her relationship with Juan.
When they leave, Ofelia says that this is happening because when he was presumed dead everyone started implying that Juan was the baby father. Luis says he doesn't want this type of arguments in his house ever again. Mar promises it will never happen.

Val is remembering Art and she manages to smile to the camera. But when she stops working she cries, she's still saaaad. Nick sees her and tries to confort her with a very tight hug. She is afraid she can't go on, they need to hire someone else. Oh, no, no this again. Nick says no can do, they'd lose to much money. Besides, she is perfect for the job. Art won't be around as much, it's a promise.

Ofelia thinks she saved Mar, she should have never allowed Juan to get so close to her. Don't forget she can only trust her!
But the way I see it, she is the one who provocked everything, first when she interrupted them in the garden, since they were going to stop talking at some point anyway and then when she went to see Camila to warn her about Juan.

Arriving home, Camila is pouting. She tells Juan she knows he still loves Mar, but that woman only used him. She would have never married her father otherwise. Juan reminds her they married for payback, so they need to continue their plan.

Graciela goes to see Hector. She needs his help… and his discretion. There was a problem at the company some years ago and a woman is trying to blackmail Luis over it. Can they keep her far away from them legally? Hector has some ideeas…

Luis and Mar are dining out. Ofelia, Leo and Paula eat together, a dish that Ofelia asked the maids to prepare. Ahahaha, Leo's face. Both he and Paula leave the table.

Nick is in a club, searching for Art, who is trying to drown his sorrow. Val doesn't want him close, so what's the point to keep trying?

Over dinner, Luis and Mar talk about Juan almost finding out the truth. Mar almost told him everything, but she thought about Camila. Luis doesn't want anyone to be hurt. He doesn't know Juan, but he doesn't want him close, either. Camila will realize the type of man he is, but Mar has to keep him away. Do what is best for her child. He appréciâtes how she never told the others their marriage was just for show, this proved him she is trustworthy.

Ofelia scolds the maid over her way of taking care of the clothes. Then she tells herself she is never leaving this house.

 

Las hijas, Capitulo 49
Part 3/3

Graciela visits Nick at his apartment. Everything is going badly they both agree. She misses them so much, she says, but she'd rather stay at her place. She asks about a woman who came close to him at Luis' funeral. Nick says he'd already seen her at the hospital after Art's accident. Graciela wants to know everything that woman has been telling him.
Nick only remmebers that Rocio used to work for the company and was worried for Art. Graciela warns him to keep that woman away from him, she has been blackmailing his father for years for some issues that happened in the past. She can't get close to him, she's a very bad woman. She won't get into details about Rocio's husband, but she makes Nick swear he'll stay away.

At her house, Val is looking at a photo of Nick on her phone. Then she scrolls to a photo of Art. And then back to Nick… I'm starting to think that this is about her personal feelings for the two, but no, she's just wondering which one is Rocio's son.
Then she calls her sister, they need to talk, but not at the house, mom can't see them.

Leo gazes at Paula, she's so beautiful. She says she's worried for Luis, he has changed so much since Mar arrived. What if they lose everything because of her? Leo thinks his father might still be in crisis over his mother's death. Paula wonders if Mar is not provocking this crisis.

Susana tells Jacinto Juan's marriage is not doing well. And Camila knows Juan still loves Mar. Jacinto points out he truly loved her, even thought the baby was his. And what if it were true? They were gone together. But Susana is afraid to even think of it.

Luis tells hector wants her sons to get lower salaries. They will still keep their titles, but they will lose all their power (to sign for documents and whatnot). Effective immediatelly.

Valeria and Mar meet for coffee and a chat. Val wants Mar to leave that house, pushes enough that Mar starts confessing the whole truth. Her baby daddy is Juan. She could never stop her pregnancy. She was so desperate, she almost killed herself. Their mother is always controling her life, she could no longer take it. That's when Luis reached out to her. Val asks why didn't she come to her. Mar says she had her own problems.
The only way she can defend her son is for him to be raised as a Portilla. And Luis is aware of everything, their marriage is not for real, but he will protect them. She will never care only about the money like their mothe.
Val says that despite all the money surrounding her, she can't be happy leading this type of life. But Mar is not searching for happiness anymore. Now she is Mar de Portilla and her baby will be happy for her.

Loved Luis showing up at the catalog shoot. He needs to keep his surprise visits coming.

Looks like Ofelia raised TWO immature daughters. Unbelievable that Val is still moaning about her job, having to “take a minute” from the photo shoot, not being able to deal with Arturo. Prima donna material, indeed.

Another prima donna is Arturo who just can’t seem to get that catalogue done.

Loved Juan reminding Camila they got married for payback.

Disliked Ofelia taking over for Mar when Luis was confronting her. No wonder Mar is so clueless on her own: no experience.

Had to laugh when the maid asked Ofelia what was wrong with Camila. Ofelia told her she was crazy and that she didn’t want to catch it.

Too bad Mar had to tell Val the truth. Val is a meddler just like her mother. Mar will have no peace.

#49 and I still only like Mar and Luis but can’t wait until tonight.

Mar, Val and Ofelia are not the only ones living in the land of denial. “…Ofelia says that this is happening because when he was presumed dead everyone started implying that Juan was the baby father. Need we remind you Juan is married to your daughter and that he and Mar will be seeing each other on a frequent if not daily basis? This has cataclysmic event written all over it.

Now that Val pushed Mar into telling her everything, will Mar have another person telling her what to do? I fear you are exactly right Jarifa, “Val is a meddler just like her mother. Mar will have no peace”.

Camila’s tantrums are getting tiresome (Val’s self pitying isn’t far behind)…

Jarifa, I would put Amparo in the like category too. Val sure ugly cries. Mar looks pretty even when she tears fall down her face. I thought they were going to have to send Cami to the funny farm with Priscilla...she looked practically catatonic laying on the floor of her room.

The modeling totally baffles me. Tie that hair back, showcase the outfit and let's actually see multiple outfits in a session. How many pictures need to be taken to get 1 good shot of an outfit? I imagine most models would knock the session out in a day! I personally think multiple models would work better also, not just 1.

Arturo gets on my last nerve. What a spoiled brat

I'm glad you explained about Rocio. I understood keeping her away from the company and assumed Graciela was hoping Hector could some how arrange for a restraining order against her.

Adriana I also thought Val was "torn between two lovers" like the old song, as she gazed at both their photos. My question is why does she have a photo of Nick in her phone?

Diana, I'll see if I can clarify a few things. Jason is looking into Tino's past so they can get custody of the kids. I had a thought about the divorce, Tino may have been able to cite abandonment as a viable divorce and done it without her signature. I want Jason to remain a good guy. It may be that now Tino is in jail he and Paulina will get a taste for parenthood and he will see Paulina for what she is.

Jason is concerned for Lila's safety in the barrio and doesn't feel it is good for either of the kids.

Chofis may be arranging a tryst with Oliver at her house while she is home alone. Jenny talking about losing her virginity rankles and I guess she thinks it's time to join the not good girl club.

I'm not sure what happened at the maxiclik meeting either. I think they voted to hire Federica in some capacity.

Thanks Diana, I enjoyed your recap. And thanks to Kat for adding some details. The only thing I can add is that Scarlet added her love for her siblings when Aide was upset with them and they were telling their mother that they loved Emi and Lila, their siblings.

I think Guzman’s attitude with Aide over him taking credit for Maximax was because he knew Tino was going to be arrested. I think he said something about it being better for business, I guess it’s not good for business if the creator is in jail.

When Tino was arrested I thought it looked bad for him in a custody battle. I didn’t think about Jason and Paulina being able to get the kids right away. But Kat, I bet you’re right, Paulina will not be able to be a loving mother 24/7.

Gracias, amigas, for the great recaps and comments. The Cowardly Lion references to Leo are right on the money.

The comments about Ofelia and her daughters are provoking my ongoing comments about toxic patents and narcissism.

Ofelia no doubt had a bad childhood and youth. She is likely to be repeating her parents' behavior and abuse because she had no experience of the good alternative. Narcissistic parents have Golden Children and Scapegoat Children. Valeria became her scapegoat child because she can't control.her. Valeria has a strong personality so she mostly knows her own mind. Narcissistic parents hate that. There is enough age difference between her and Mar for Ofelia to raise Mar to be her stupid little puppet whose only value is her very vacuous beauty. The reality is that Valeria is more beautiful because she is a whole human being. Other women can relate to her. Arturo is attracted to this although he may not realize it. We may not like Valeria's manner but this is what she has to do to be heard. Ofelia is emotionally isolating Mar to the degree that she can. Her husband died when Mar was young enough to not have been od enough to figure things out. Val got on well.with her work colleagues and may have had a few friends while Mar shows no evidence of having had any friends, only competitors when going to modeling go-sees. That Luis is now secretly is playing protective dad to her is probably the best thing to ever happen to her. It's interesting to observe but there will eventually be consequences to her disclosure to Valeria and we know that it is TN Law that this secret will eventually be revealed to all.

When did Ofelia find out about Paula's sordid past?

"Jason is looking into Tino's past so they can get custody of the kids". I'm trying to keep positive about Jason especially since Paulina falsely blamed Tino for the split, forcing her to leave. I admit though I'm troubled by the fact he seems a bit obsessed, wanting to get custody of the children no matter what it takes. For heaven's sake, he just met them!

Excellent point that (in Tino's "absence") Jason may see Paulina's "true" colors and that she isn't willing to be the mother the children deserve.

I hope Chofis keeps her wits about her. She's a nice girl...hoping Oliver treats her respectfully and that nothing happens.

Diana, thanks for the compliment on my Spanish comprehension. TN and Duolingo for the win. I have a pretty extensive English vocab which helps, and 5 years of highschool and college French to help also. Hope your husband's Dr. appointment went well. I'll start the recap a bit later as I'm spending the night at my daughter's (to cut down on trips my car has to take to and from home. ) and the kids are getting ready for bed around 8 so I read them stories then, etc.

I also hope Oliver treats Chofis well. I don't remember if I commented on a prior episode, but it seemed like Checo was giving Chofis relationship (sex talk) advice. That would have made me uncomfortable as a teen. I guess the parents are skipping the sex education talk with her.

On my TV, in the guide, or program section, it does have all the telenovelas for tomorrow night recording. So if you don’t automatically record, I would check tomorrow night to see if they’re on.

Excellent recap of another frustrating episode! Your writing is wonderful, these people are not…

I don’t think it’s fair to compare Val to Ofelia. Val is genuinely concerned about her sister, she loves her, and wants what’s best for her. She’s understandably worried that Mar will never be happy in an arranged marriage, and she isn’t wrong, Mar herself said she wouldn’t be happy but her son would. When Mar was happy with Juan, Val didn’t interfere. She voiced her opinion that Mar should wait until she was older to get married but she didn’t interfere, she didn’t get in the middle of the relationship or try to break them up, or lie or scheme. Ofelia lied, schemed, had Juan arrested, etc etc etc. Val has her unlikeable qualities for sure, but she is no Ofelia. She’d be knee deep in the ‘who is Rocio’s baby?’ drama if she was, love be damned!

Cami seemed to imply that Mar was with Juan when she thought Luis was dead and that she came running back for money the second she found out he was alive – which is a) untrue, b) cold and c) a ridiculous accusation to make considering daddy was ‘dead’ for like 3 days!! I get so annoyed by the jealous woman yelling for the other woman to tell her to ‘stay away’ from her man when that other woman wasn’t looking for her man to begin with, it’s so dumb!

I wonder how this will all play out. I don’t really think Mar and Juan will end up together – too much water under the bridge. I don’t think Mar and Luis will stay together or Juan and Cami – I certainly hope Luis doesn’t end up with the harpy Ofelia. I doubt Nicolas and Val will end up together at this point – I liked the idea in the beginning but I think things have gone too far with Art and Val now, it would be weird. Art and Val have lost their shine but I’m guessing they’ll work it out. I suppose they could try to redeem Ofelia but I don’t see how – I only guess that because the open credits show O, Mar and Val all happy and hugging…. we certainly haven’t seen that yet.

I think that neither Art nor Nick should end up with Val . The merry go round that those three are on should stop , and they should all get off and find their true loves. However, telenovelas,always like to match singles up , so one of brothers will win the big prize.

O doesn't actually know about Paula's murky past , but O is nosy and quite clever and intuitive. She seems to smell that Paula is a fraud . Susan

18 years earlier Aide and Guzman sit on the stairs at school. He hates Tino. He is the ringleader of the group that taunts him, saying he " walks like a stopped pig ( marrana parada) " which I guess is some sort of colloquial saying that means nothing to me, but infuriates Guzman. He wishes Tino would die. Aide sticks up for Tino saying he hasn't been bad to them, but Guzman insists since he's the leader of the pack he is guilty. Aide sort of agrees , I think. The 2 swear to be friends forever and always trust each other.

Back to the present. Aide and Fede talk about Tino selling the shares to some 3rd party. Fede tells Aide I advised you not to give Tino the shares, remember. Fede pleads ignorance about the transfer, but Aide doesn't trust her. She's afraid of Tino sold the shares to someone she will lose her business.

Bertha gets a call from an unknown number. It's Tino calling from jail. He wants her to lie to the kids about where he is ( Bertha sighs, lie again!) he hopes to be out of jail soon.

Fede is with Guzman. She did exactly what he asked. She can't wait till he tells them it's he who bought the shares. When will you speak up. Guzman isn't quite ready yet. He needs to tighten the noose more around Tino I think. He tells her the police have detained Tino.

Bertha is making excuses for Tino not being home, he's held up at his new job. Lila doesn't care 'inventino'. Lila is bashing dad but Emi sticks up for him. The 2 bicker with Lila saying Emi's voice is like a fly buzzing around and she can't hear him. The 2 speak to each other via Bertha who's getting fed up with their squabbling.

Rudolph visits Tino. He's no help at maxiclik since he got fired for his indiscretion in Guzman's office, but Clara and Chano are still on the case. Tino expects a lawyer to be assigned for him tomorrow. Fede walks up and says no need, I'm taking on your case. ( Is this good or bad, is she working for or against Guzman at this point?)

Clara and Felipe are sitting on the stairs at his house now. She is still concerned about Pipe. Feline wants to use his contacts to see if Guzman ever left the country and the 2 hug. Clara puts her foot in her mouth saying your hugs are so different than Rudolph's. Oops sorry. I feel so secure in your arms she continues. Felipe laughs about it.

Bit lost on the Fede and Tino talk. She will represent him. He swears on his childrens life he's innocent. Fede of course believes him. Then I think she says that Aide and Guzman were the ones that turned him in to the police.

Aide cries, how could you do this to me Tino. Circe knocks. She's worried about mom. We all miss Tino and his family, Circe says.. Aide deflects the conversation saying they both need test as they have school and work in the morning.

Tino goes over what happened with Fede when he signed the papers giving Guzman executive powers over the kid's shares( he didn't read). Fede insists they were all in order. First order of business is to free him from jail.

Next morning Emi asks Bertha why didn't dad sleep in his bed last night ( I guess he and Emi share a room). Bertha says he didn't want to wake him so he slept on the couch and left early.. Someone knocks and Lila goes to the door. It's Jason and Paulina hoping to see them and take them to school. Bertha says fine, but I'm coming too.

Fede tells Tino they are determining bail and he can get out. Tino wonders how much bail will be as he has little in savings. He's worried about his kids. Fede says that so like you, your kids come first, unlike Aide where it's al me, me ,me so Fede's motive here is to paint aide in the worst light possible and make herself the heroine.

Aide is at Tino's house with Augusto, the chauffeur. Noone answers of course. Augusto offers to call Bertha. ( Does Aide know Tino has been arrested?). I'm guessing not because she wants to surprise Tino and confront him face to face.

Lila hugs Jason and thanks him for her ride to school, same to mom. Bertha gets no hug. Jason and Paulina wonder how Lila is going to such a fancy school but Emi is in a much poorer one. Bertha says so Lila could be near her siblings. Paulina corrects her, step siblings. Jason offers Bertha a ride home. They want to talk to Tino. Bertha says he's working, be best to see him tomorrow and I'm fine going home by myself as she scoots off. Jason gets a message on his phone. Tino works ( worked) at maxiclik and Aide is his boss.

The bail is top high Tino can't pay the amount. Fede offers him a loan. He refuses. He has an idea.

Aide gets advice from Augusto. Talk to Tino, things aren't always as they appear. He says in all the years I've worked for you you were never happier than when Tino was at your house. Lots more relationship talk from Augusto that I don't feel like typing it all out

Lila is talking with Circe and Uli about her mom and stepdad. She and Emi are going to live with them in the US. Uli says you're leaving your dad all alone? Circe says you're going off with the mother that abandoned you. Lila says Dad's a liar and sticks up for Paulina but Circe holds firm.

Jason shows up at maxiclik looking for Tino. Igor says he's no longer working here. Come this way.

Circe and Lila fight about Paulina, with Circe giving Lila a lot of home truths about the mother that abandoned her. Lila gets mad pulling Circe's hair. Uli breaks it up.

Chano, at maxiclik, gets a call from Rudolph saying no way. Not sure why. I think Rudolph is being given a severance package. They talk about Chano keeping a low profile and searching for proof of Guzman's doings.

Bertha visits Tino. He will have to stay in jail at least another day but he has an idea. Bertha worries about what she'll tell the kids. She tells him Paulina and Jason took the kids to school. Jason is very concerned for them, much more so than Paulina.

Guzman gleefully tells Jason that Tino is guilty of defrauding the business, and there is proof .

Aide and Guzman talk. She insists Tino is the creative mind behind mamximax and deserves recognition. Aide wonders who Tino sold the shares to. I think she is going to hire another lawyer( good). I think she asks to see the papers Tino signed with Guzman. She leaves and Igor enters Guzman's office wanting all the gossip. How did she react when she found out he's in jail. Guzman says she doesn't know yet. Shoo, I want to be alone.

Ah, as I hoped, Tino is asking Felipe for a loan . Not actually a loan, he'll put in more hours and take less of a cut on whatever business deal they have going. He needs to be free to prove his innocence .Felipe needs a few hours to think about it ( hopefully Clara will help him decide in favor
 

Papas #46 part 3

Paulina is pumping Jason for information about where he's been all day. He says we need to pick up the kids. Paulina continues to ask questions. He says you know me too well. I've discovered something terrible about Tino. Paulina is legitimately shocked ( oh no, I'm going to have to be a full time mom again?!)

Chofis is walking home from school with Jenny.. Luchita is checking up on her. Chofis reminds her the phone has location tracking so you know where I am. They hang up. Chofis sends Oliver a message, meet me at my house in an hour. Kisses.

Augusto had tracked Bertha down at Lila's school. Bertha is all upset because Tino is in jail because Aide and Guzman accused him of something. Augusto is shocked. Paulina shows up and yells at Bertha for lying about where Tino was. Lila shows up thrilled to see Mami.

Augusto sends aide a text that he's picked the kids up from school. She says take them home then meet me at my office. Guzman hands her some work files with explanations, probably regarding maximax. They want to unload some video about the platform, I think. Facundo is mentioned as an influencer, or perhaps the one to do the video as he kinda works for the firm now he knows he owns shares . She asks have you discovered who bought Tino's shares. He says he hopes to have the information tomorrow. Aide tries calling Yino. No answer. Luchita knocks, Dameso is here.

Looks like Paulina is without Jason. Bertha, the hids and Paulina arrives at their house. Bertha asks Paulina to not say where Tino is for the kids sake. Paulina snidely remarks we can't let the kids know how awful their dad is. Bertha reminds her she can give Jason the true story of her abandon of the children. Paulina says I don't hate my children. Emi calls for Grandma to help him change. Bertha suggests Paulina can start showing how much she cares by helping her son. Paulina snidely says he asked for you. Bertha walks off muttering nothings changed.

Clara and Luchita talk at the reception desk. Luchita is overwhelmed with her management job. Clara breaks down the steps for her but then gets a dreamy look on her face as she remembers Pipe. Then she asks Luchita about Guzman's agenda. Chano arrives as Clara leaves. He wonders where is Chofis? Tutoring session. No, she's home. You left her home alone!

Oliver arrives. Chofis is nervous. He asks are we alone and she rattles off where everyone is. He asks for a tour of the house and she points to all the areas, including a hanging lamp, as they stand on the living room. Then he asks and your room. I want to no all about you. Off they go.

Damaso comforts aide in her anguish about Tino selling her children's birthright.

In Chofis room. Two nervous teens. Chofis sits on the edge of her bed and Oliver joins her .They both admit this is the first time, though live admits he's watched videos. Chofis is like all the way to the finish. They share a chaste kiss and here a door open. Chofis jumps up thinking it's Checo but if course it's Dad.




 

Papas #46 part 4

Paulina and Lila are talking. Lila says she'd like to take ballet but no money for that. Paulina mentions the pricey school she attends, Lila says that is thanks to Aide (eye roll by Paulina). Lila has it all figured out. Mother's have stronger rights than dads and Candy has told her everything she should say to get to live with Mom. Paulina says slow down. Then Lila asks why were you gone so long. She wants the truth.

The guard tells Tino he has a visitor. It's Jason. Bard on your legal situation we are going to resolve something about your children.

Aide is raging about Tino destroying her faith in love. She's going to take care of her children alone, as always. Damaso says your not alone and moves in for a kiss .
 

Papas,
well I didn't start watching until 10 and it's so late now The last scene I didn't feel like elaborating on the dialogue. We all could see that kiss coming a mile away. Will it jog Aide's memory of the drunken night she had 28 years ago,?
 

Las hijas, Capitulo 50
Part 1/2

Val asks Mar to be in high alert with the Portillas. When they talk about Arturo, Val says she still has a hard time forgetting everything. Mar thinks she should give him another chance, Camila was the one who treated her badly.

Susana comes to the mansion to talk to Ofelia about Mar's baby. Is Juan the father? Ofelia prétends to be outraged, offends Juan and tells Susana that he is the one who keeps searching for Mar. He better leave her alone, or else!
Of course they start to throw insults at one another again, Susana accuses Ofelia of using her daughters to obtain what she couldn't obtain when she was young, Ofelia almost slaps her.

Camila has a hard time with the small closet at Juan's house. Graciela calls her to check in, invites her for coffee.

Paula goes to see some doctor and hands him an envelope full of cash. She wants Something in return, the doctor looks uncomfortable.

Leo finds out he lost his right of signature on company papers.

Val has come to work. Nick is not around for now, but she runs into Arturo. He wants to talk, she accuses him of using work to stay close to her. Art tells her things are going badly with his father, there is a lot at stake with this Campaign. Val assures him she will do her job, but that's it. Art is desperate to know how she manages to be so distant. He can barely stay away from her. Pedro interrupts them briefly, breaks the mood.

Rocio comes by the company to talk to Arturo. The receptionist is reluctant to let her in. Nick is arriving, Rocio sees him and wants to talk. Nick says he knows she's trying to blackmail the family, but it won't work with him. Rocio insists they need to talk, but Nick doesn't listen and leaves.

Graciela is shocked to see the vecindad. Susana invites her in and offers some coffee. Graciela has only come for Camila, they both leave immediately. They talk about Camila's new home not being the best place to live. But Camila doesn't care, as long as she's close to Juan. Even better, she knows Mar hates it.
Graciela asks about Juan and Camila says he's amazing. She's aware he still loves Mar, but at least they are together and he treats her very well. Graciela is happy to know she's in love, but she thinks she deserves the same love in return. Camila says they might have gotten together for revenge, but she has fallen for Juan and she won't give him up.

Nick, Art and Val talk about the Campaign, apparently they have enough photos. Pedro comes to tell the men Luis is waiting for them. Val can go home, she doesn't even acknowledge Arturo as she leaves.
Luis tells his sons there is no money for the sportwear launch. He no longer wants to invest company money if the success is not guaranteed. Leo protests, accusing Luis of wasting money himself with the trust fund he had set up for Mar. The money they are asking is for their company not for themselves.
Luis points out the company doesn't belong to them.

Val and Ofelia fight again, Val repproaches her mother the way she raised them. Ofelia says she has hurt a lot, but won't give details. She doens't need her pity, she'd rather have her hate, because that makes her strong and gives her the courage to change her reality. That's something that she can live with.
Later she tells Mar she is happy she has her sister, they will need to lean on one another the day she's gone. Luis arrives to interrupt Ofelia's pity fest.

Graciela comes to eat at Nick's place. He tells her about meeting Rocio. But he didn't talk to her. In reception he was told she had come for Arturo but he left instructions that she was not be alowed acces.

 

Las hijas, Capitulo 50
Part 2/2

Val comes to visit Amparo. She tells her about fighting with her mother over what she did to Mar. She is the worst mother in the world. Amparo défends Ofelia, she has suffered a lot in the past. Val asks for an explanation, but Amparo doesn't want to say anything.
Val thinks her mother invented a sob story, Amparo is sure she hasn't. Val should be more understanding.

Mar is afraid she is causing all of Luis' problems with his kids. He reassures her this is not about her, it's their behavior that is causing everything. They couldn't even respect his last dying wishes. Mar promises to be in his corner no matter what.

Paula has bought amphétamines. In high doses the médicine can affect the patient's health. She hides them when Leo arrives to whine about his father stripping him of his power in the company. Paula thinks they need to go down to eat, not show they are upset. But he'd rather they eat in the room.

In the morning Susana is planning to prepare something tasty for dinner. But they're out of cash. Camila has been listening to their conversation. She asks what's for breakfast. Not much apparently.

Hector tells Val the company is offering her an apartment to live in. She looks doubtful, thinks Arturo had something to do with it. Hector explains that's not the case, this is something they sometimes do with some of the staff members. She is reluctant to believe this, Art or Nick have to be involved. When she sees Luis has the signature on the documents she thinks Mar intervened. Hector explains they do this for models who live abroad and she will repay them with her work. She deserves this, she only needs to tell him when she is moving in.

Paula comes by the kitchen, saying she decided she will prepare her father-in-law's breakfast. But she can't even crack an egg properly, the maids have to help her. When she is alone she is about to put some powder in the eggs, but Ofelia arrives to mock her over her cooking skills.

Camila comes to talk to Luis about the bad conditions she is living in. She reminds him he did support Leo when he got married. Luis accepts that she can return to the house, but without Juan, who is a delinquent. Camila won't hear of it. She thinks her father is not being fair. Paula overhears part of the conversation and adds some fuel to the fire when Luis is gone. Mar briefly looks at them from the top of the stairs, goes away for a moment and then returns with a trash bag. She drops it to Camila's feet, saying it's her clothes and she saved them for her. She even throws the trash back to Camila's shocked face (as I'm cheering her from the sidelines), suggetsing she could even give her some of the stuff she no longer uses. Camila screams that she doesn't need anything from her. Really? Mar is shocked, since Camila seems to enjoy all her leftovers. Hahahaha, goo girl Mar!

Graciela comes to see Rocio, demands that she stay away from the boys. Just leave them alone! But Rocio won't give up. Graciela threatens to ask for a restraining order. Rocio thinks she is only trying to scare her off. Graciela again asks her to stay away from her family if she doesn't want to end up in jail.
She leaves, but Rocio follows her and they starts fighting in the middle of the street. They get into a physycal struggle just as a bus arrives and … in a rather cartoonish fashion, Graciela is run over by the bus. Rocio looks on in shock, she didn't quite push her, but she was no innocent bystander either.

Thanks Adriana! Wonderful recap! Looks like a fun episode…unfortunately I don’t have much time this morning but there’s one thing that I’ve been noticing lately that I wanted to comment on.
I’m starting to think that Luis isn’t really any different than his kids, he’s just a calmer, more mature version of it. He makes entirely unreasonable/rash/hasty decisions and then gets mad when everyone won’t respect his decisions no questions asked!!! His decision to marry Mar to teach the kiddies a lesson wasn’t a well-thought-out plan; it was an Arturo-esq whirlwind. Then he just wants them to accept it, period! I get it in some ways, but on the other hand, relationship is about communication. Not saying you have to spell out ‘I’m marrying her to teach you to grow up’ but you could give some sort of explanation, Luis never said anything about his marriage but accept my choice. There’s a difference between respecting your decisions and not questioning them….Luis is unwilling to explain himself. He isn’t trying to be understood or to understand his children, he’s going for blind obedience and when he doesn’t get it? He cuts off the credit cards, slashes salaries, cancels signing privileges and now he’s canceling the launch? But still getting Val an apartment? That’s beyond bad business!!! He’s already sunk all the money into the campaign and NOW it’s ready, this isn’t the time to cancel it!

How physical of slap-happy Ofelia to go pushing Susana out of the house and then Rocío pushing Graciela away into the street. Weren’t these people ever taught to keep their hands to themselves? Are they going to wrestle in the streets next? It is almost funny.

Just as expected, meddling Valeria lost no time going to her mother to tell her she knew all about Mar’s baby not being Luis’ as if it was her business to tell when Mar had trusted her. Will she leak the info to one of the bros in one of her never ending emotional states?

After Valeria expressed her hatred for her mother, Ofelia told her she hoped she wouldn’t regret what she had said some day. Sounds like foreshadowing to me.

Best scene: Mar throwing the garbage bag filled with Camila’s clothes down to stairs to her. It was good see Mar have enough energy to have some chutzpah for that exchange.

Amphetamines? I do not trust Paula. They could be for so many “inconvenient” people in her world.

So many gems but I particularly loved “Paulina is legitimately shocked ( oh no, I'm going to have to be a full time mom again?!)”

I had to smile as some important happenings, especially Tino’s arrest was a secret that still hasn’t been completely spilled!

In the flashback, Guzman did seem devastated by Tino’s treatment. In what little we’ve seen of Tino then, he didn’t seem as bad as Lichita and Clara Luz but perhaps he was…

Poor Lila has it all figured out, has she? She is in for another heartbreaking let down. I was just as surprised as Circe and Uli that she was willing to leave her father so easily.

Aide will have to learn soon that Tino has the shares, right?

Adriana, excellent. I missed some zingers, especially liked the dig at Cami about liking hand me downs, i.e Juan. I also missed that Luis was canceling the sports line

I just thought it was an information meeting telling them they are being paid the same as all the other employees and he's cut off the gravy train. Will Nick be able to afford his new digs anymore or will he have to move back home. If Graciela dies who gets her place? I almost expected her to invite Cami and Juan to move in with her as she really has a soft spot for her.

I understood the apartment perk for Val, but now they have all the needed photos for the canceled sports line, how will she earn her salary? Will she model other lines in the company?..

I wondered what type of pills Paula had. I thought maybe the bribed doctor wrote her a prescription for them. I guess her troubles with the rapist are over. He's gone with the wind like Priscilla and her dad.

Diana, you mean she will learn Guzman has the shares.(And that Tino is jailed hopefully ). I'm really hoping Guzman gets unmasked. What I got from the flashback scene was that Tino was guilty by association of the bullies as they all followed his lead. Aide pointed out that Tino didn't do the bad things like the others did. I'm thinking Guzman had crush on Aide, knew she had a crush on Tino and thus he became enemy number 1 in his eyes.

Jarifa, I'm also afraid Val is going to somehow (perhaps inadvertently) spill Mar's secret. Val has good intentions but I'm seeing she can be a bit of a bully...

Darcy, loved "Arturo-esq whirlwind"!

I still have the feeling Luis has some fairly turbulent waters stirring within him. His "pot" is definitely simmering to a slow boil. He's lashing out without applying much logic or reason. Mar is truly the only one in his court.

Paula trying to whisk a few eggs did make me smile. I think she had fun with that scene...

Thanks Kat, that was a great recap. It will be interesting to see if the kids end up spending more time with Jason and Paulina and if she’ll be able to hide how she feels about her own children. Jason should catch on, he’s no dumby. At least Circe seems aware of the real character of the people around her.

I can’t see Tino being mean to Guzman and Aide in the past. He sure didn’t take advantage of her when he could have. I think he was a decent kid.

I never thought about the soon to happen kiss jogging Aide’s memory. That would sure turn things around for Aide. But as soon as she finds out Guzman owns the shares she’ll know he’s the one cheating her.

I’m glad Chofis and Oliver got interrupted. They’re just too young. But her parents are way to strict with her and that’s when kids rebel.LIZ

So it looks like Paula wants to poison Luis. I wonder if it’s to kill him or just make him incompetent. Then Leo could take over the decision making. Luis has been making crazy decisions. He’s giving Val an apartment and at the same time canceling the sportswear line. And Paula lives in his house but he refuses to let Juan live there.

Loved Camila trying to get her clothes in the closet. She’s probably never had to put her clothes away before.

I can’t believe Rocio pushed Graciela in front of the bus. I guess she didn’t mean to but did anyone witness it. I don’t think you can survive getting hit by a bus. Guess we’ll find out tonight

I love how the scenes aren't choppy in this show and they introduce new characters slowly. The new female tenant looks like she will be a great asset to help Gabriela and her grandmother to discover what really happened to her parents and who the real thief is. Memo is a piece of work. I guess the girl that took the video of them at the accident site will be the next to die to shut her up.

Alex will likely dump Andres and get together with Daniel, though that will be a very rocky relationship given her guilt about the accident.

Graciela living after being hit by a bus seems highly unlikely. At the very least she will be in a coma for a while.
Or we will be getting the third Portilla funeral. Everyone will gather around and play nice for half an episode and then they will be back to screaming and whinning.

I don't think Luis cancelled the sports line, I think he only cancelled the budget that had been set aside for the launch party/ event. Which is silly since they've already invested so much in this project.

Darcy, I agrree with you that Luis is not exactly the picture of sanity in all of this. Sure, most of his kids are a but whinny and a lot spoiled, but that's on him. Marrying someone younger than his youngest child so soon after their mother died couldn't possibly be received with applause.
And I do see the double standard in him accepting Paula and not Juan. I think having Juan and Mar under the same roof would have made more sense from a storyline perspective, but the writers would rather have Camila whine about living with the poor I guess.
Silly me I thought she was going to her father asking for money to help Juan's family with bills and stuff, she was actually only trying to get back to living the easy life in the mansion.

The moments when Ofelia plays rich lady of the manor are still funny to me. Credit to the actress, we know that Ofelia can be vicious, but this is some great comic relief for me.

So where will Val live? I still say she will become Nick's neighbor, and then maybe that's how they get closer?

Kat, for me, this is the best show of the night. So much was revealed last night. Of course, the fact that I like detective series helps. So how is Roberto going to treat Luciana now that his assistant has suggested she might be working for Enrique to keep ahead of the investigation (closed or not) rather than be really interested in him? His ex Karina is a real piece of work.

Steve, it wouldn’t surprise me if Enrique had something to do with those deaths or others.

I also love o playing lady of the manor and trying to teach the maids the proper way to clean, cook, announce guests, etc is great. O also seems to be trying to educate herself by reading books and (hopefully) upscale magazines. This is my first time seeing this actress and she is a hoot on those scenes.

Jarifa, I like this one the most also. Great acting. I can understand the characters better ( papas is really challenging with the Chano, Luchita, Checo, etc family and there preference for slang that leaves me lost). I also like how so far there isn't an overabundance of characters, they all have a distinct look and I don't mix them up. I also enjoy detective shows. After we get to know the players if they throw in some other cases that Roberto and his team works on, that would be a different form of TN that to my knowledge has not been employed before.

I think Luciana's dog ( did I mistakenly call Lucy Gabriela? I mixed her up with the main protagonist in Amor Amargo I've started watching this week also) will end up being a good judge of character. She didn't like Roberto's new assistant but was ok with the female investigative journalist. I missed how he alludes that Luciana was perhaps spying on the case to benefit Enrique.

It sure would be nice if this blog had an edit function for our comments. So many mistakes could be corrected!

We were posting simultaneously. My cataract surgery was mostly a success. I have some waviness in the center of my vision so making out road signs is a struggle. They used a lens for distance, I'm near sighted, so now my current Rx works for the uncorrected eye if I wear them. I've chosen to not use any glasses so for driving my left eye takes over, and for reading I rely on my right. I've heard some laser surgery patients choose to have one eye for distance and the other for close up and I now know I can deal with that. Last follow up is Monday and I guess I will get a new prescription then and may or may not fill it. I wore contacts some in my teens and 20s but they were a ain cause it made it harder to read so I switched to glasses for driving and tv watching. So for the first time in over 30 years I don't have to put my glasses on to see which is nice.

Regina George survived getting hit by a bus (Mean Girls). I will never forget that part of the movie. I was in college when that movie came out and I went to see it with a male friend of mine, he was way too tickled by the 'and that's how Regina George died' line. He laughed for a good 5 mins!

Kat, Dr. Carlos was one of our most clever and funny recappers ever ,but I don't think that he did " So and so's lines." I think it was one of our other very witty recappers.
Carlos was famous for always being a fan of the bad girls and stirring the pot defending them. He loved to rile up the ladies here on the patio. He and I once had a debate about whether one bad girl's charms were real or purchased.
