Caray, Caray!

PAPAS #35 Part 1

Previously, Aidé, Tino, Fed and Circe arrive at the police station and are greeted by one of the officers. However, when Circe is asked to speak to an official, it is not her mother she asks to accompany her. It is Tino’s arm she grabs, calling him “papa.” With Tino looking a bit gratified yet confused, we see Aidé’s shocked face.

Aidé pulls rank and takes her daughter’s arm, guiding her forward. We don’t see what happens inside and next see the three outside. Circe thanks Tino again but eyes narrowed, bestows several highly annoyed looks in her mother’s direction.

Clara Luz and Felipe talk and seem to be hitting it off famously although I understood none of their discussion other than he tells Guzmán he seems to find her charming.

Checo is pushing a cart in the warehouse loaded with supplies; Chano hitching a ride.

Lichita confides in a seemingly sympathetic Guzmán about what is transpiring with Chofis. She leaves as Fed arrives, loaded with a stack of documents that are ready for his review.

Aidé talks briefly with Lichita when Chano arrives. She asks them to speak further – in her office. She makes it crystal clear she doesn’t want Checo anywhere around Circe. Do they understand? She is very serious and bereft of warmth, asks them to leave. Chano of course is panicking as Checo is already working there!

Clara Luz is giving Rudolf the cold shoulder. He tries to offer her coffee and talk to her but she dismisses him flirting with a random guy that enters the room.

Igor is on his computer where we see the monster computer generated image used to ruin the Maximax presentation. Fed appears around the corner and asks him something but he says he only takes orders from Guzmán. He cattily tells her “meow”.

Chano and Lichita talk with Tino, I’m unsure if they told him that Aidé demands Checo stay away from Circe.

Tino seems surprised by all the documents he has to sign, but he rolls up his sleeve (so to speak) and sits, ready to sign his life away. Guzmán asks Tino if he is sure, yes is the answer. Fed hangs over Tino’s shoulder as he starts to sign. Then Facundo bursts in the room and as he and Guzmán argue, Fed tries to get Tino to concentrate on signing the docs, corralling him back to the table, She sits him down and he resumes signing. Rudolf pops his head in as Tino tells him he’ll catch up with him later. The seemingly interminable document signing continues and finally ends.

PAPAS #35 Part 2

Aidé is staring at a computer picture of her family when Dámaso comes in. She is delighted to see him. Tino later joins them. Dámaso seems surprised and inquires as to their relationship; Aidé tells him she and Tino are novios. Oh and he is the father of my children! Aidé smiles as Dámaso takes his leave. Her and Tino’s flirting and kissing ensues.

Facundo continue to bother Fed; Guzmán makes her put the documents on the table before she leaves. Later Lichita sees Fed with the folders and watches her go into a room.

Chofis has a cute flirt with Oliver, the young man she previously met. We next see her comfortably ensconced at a table in Guzmán’s office. She seems to tease her mother a bit about Guzmán.

Tino and the children are watching videos. Lila watches Circe and Tino talking, sensing (rightly) how close they are getting, her face falling a bit. Circe notices and says something to Tino who goes into Lila’s room. He asks her if all is OK with Circe. She seems to say it is but also brings up her mother…

Aidé and Tino are in their bedroom as he flatters her and they speak their teasing, affectionate love language. He tells her he signed the documents that will give the children his shares in time. As she also trusts Guzmán, unfortunately her spidey sense does not kick in.

Fed is working on a text to Tino trying to warn him about Guzmán. She then recalls seeing Igor filing away the image on his computer. Facundo calls her wanting his “elevated” position at Maxiclick. She basically tells him no way in hell and hangs up much to his chagrin.

Felipe is Maximax’s newest hire; he and Clara Luz talk companionably.

Fed wants to talk to Tino and he turns to follow her but Clara Luz waylays him introducing him to Felipe. Tino then introduces Felipe to Rudolf.

Fed is standing up to Guzmán when Facundo interrupts. Tino enters and Rudolf talks to his hermano about how upset Clara Luz is that Guzmán spirited Pipe away. He tells Tino Pipe is in Switzerland.

Guzmán asks Chofis how everything is going at school, she says fine. She texts Oliver and then apologizes to Guzmán, opening her computer.

PAPAS #35 Part 3 of 3

Tino is looking for Guzmán but Igor waylays him. He mentions Pipe being in Switzerland but Igor isn’t giving up much. Fed comes up and takes advantage to irritate Igor. Tino and Igor take off. I believe Igor is pretending to see if he can help Tino locate Pipe.

Facundo is still hanging around haunting Fed. He bangs on the desk hurting his hand. Good.

Several of our biggest fears are brought to fruition during the next scene. Guzmán stares intently at Chofis, moving his chair closer to hers. He then takes his hand and brushes her hair off her face, hand lingering on her shoulder. Next, he moves his lecherous hand along the lines of her skirt, leaving no doubt as to his insidious intent. He then turns Chofis’ head with his hand so that she has to look at him; she is beyond uncomfortable and clearly panicking.

Checo brings a box to the reception desk as Aidé comes out as she grimaces with the understanding that he is working there.

Tino, whose sixth sense IS working, commandeers Igor’s computer and sees the “monster” image. As the truth dawns on him, he mutters “Guzmán”.

We now see what Guzmán’s terrible revenge for Lichita is…I hope Chofis immediately tells her parents. Alas we will have to find out…

After Paula tells Leo what happened he hugs her tightly, then demands to know who did this to her. Paula tells Leo it was Saul that violated her.

Ofi is quick on her feet when Graciela demands to know what she is doing rifling through Luis closets. She is getting the room ready for her daughter. She feels the former mistresses possessions should be removed so Mar doesn't feel uncomfortable. Graciela says she will take care of her sister in law's things. Ofi corrects her, your sister in law is Mar

Leo wants to kill Saul.. Paula begs him not to leave her, she needs him. He groans, slams the hall table with open palms ( must be a cheap set design budget, the table rocks pretty bad). He hugs her again.

Graciela tells if she isn't needed in the room, she will take care of it. Perhaps O should go rest in her quarters. O thinks given her new status in the house that it would be more fitting for her to move to the guest room. Graciela thinks that decision should be made by the new Señora of the casa...Mar.

Another scene with Paulina and Leo. Her turn to turn on the waterworks. They keep passing the crying torch. She wants him to let the police to take care of it, stay away from him, promise. Leo just wants to protect and defend her.

The redhead duo are now at Nick's apartment, a big step up from Val's place. He should have told them to work with her there. They tell Nick she is a novice but has a good attitude and work ethic, but the place they are training her!!! Clueless Nick says well I know it has a fire but ..the duo elaborates on the state of the burned house. Ah, now Nick will offer up his place, we'll just move this furniture, etc. the duo love the idea and when they are done with her she will be an incredible model.

Arturo is daydreaming about Val when Leo comes in raving he wants to kill that guy for abusing Paula.

Paula walks into her room still weeping. She talks to herself in the mirror. That will teach you to mess with me and she smirks.

Back with the lower classes. Jacinto tells Cami that everyone chips in doing chores. Cami, to her credit agrees she should help. Susana suggests she can help with the ironing, Cami gives an excuse why she can't do that. Next suggestion is helping cook. She is no good at that. Also she is a vegetarian and doesn't want to eat meat, the poor animals ( I applied her for this, if I didn't have a meat loving husband I've considered giving up meat myself). They ask what do you eat then, asparagus, tofu... Jacinto says "fu" and she corrects them. Susana pushes an onion her way on the table and asks her to dice it. Jacinto tsks her as she is cutting it. Apparently you dip the sharp knife in water before slicing. I've never seen it done that way before! At any rate they applaud her cutting prowess and Cami is pleased with her first foray into culinary cutting..

Las hijas #38 part 2

Amparo delivers breakfast to Val. She tells her that her mother is worried about Mar because she heard that Senor Portillo isn't the upstanding guy he appears to be..Val looks concerned.

Arturo, Leo , Hector and a policeman are outside Saul's apartment with the papers to arrest him. Hector tells Leo to keep his calm or he needs to go away. Leo swears he will. Arturo and Hector go to the door and ring the bell. Saul opens it with a smile and Leo attacks him swinging and bloodies his lip. Arturo and Hector pull him away and the police arrest Saul for sexual assault. Saul tells Leo his wife is a tramp, or something, and that he doesn't know her well which makes Leo even more mad .

Val has questions. Amparo says your mom got the story from someone that used to be close to Luis. But she didn't tell Amparo' everything. O wants to find proof. Val asks, when will my mother leave well enough alone. Mar made her choice, for good or bad, but she chose so she needs to leave her be.

Leo is being held back by Arturo as 2 policemen contain Saul. Insults and death threats ensue. Saul says you don't know who your wife is. I have security footage. Leo just swears he'll kill him

Nick is on his office. Val arrives. They discuss her contract and why she wanted to cancel. She just wants to be done. He asks if she has a problem with him, no not you, but Arturo, she thinks he is toying with her.. Nick wonders is it because she has strong feelings for Arturo. She looks at him sheepishly.

The Honeymooners return. Graciela greets them with a smile. Luis tells her the beach was a great tonic and he feels much better. Mar goes upstairs to sort her things (they came in empty-handed). Graciela doesn't want to bother him but...she tells him about Paula . And she is not happy with O's impertinence.

Val doesn't know what she feels but she has a job to do. Nick tells her she should work with the duo at his place. She agrees as her casa isn't fitting. He asks why are you staying there if it's so bad, go stay at the mansion. She tells him she doesn't agree with Mar's decision to marry his father, just like he disagrees.
 

Las hijas #38 part 3

Leo needs to talk to Leo. Mar is on the landing listening as Graciela tells him he needs to take back control of his children that need him and forget about that muchachita. Le yells at her and I think he threatens her that she needs to leave if he disrespects his wife.

Leo leaves the high-rise groaning. Why did Saul say those things about Paula. Arturo tells him their are rumors floating around about her. Saul is part of those rumors. Pretty sure Arturo says Paula and her friends were involved in the other part of modeling (call girls?)

Luis and Graciela talk some more. She thinks he is blind and hopes he does regret his marriage. Mar walked away during this exchange.

Arturo and Leo argue. Leo asks him to go away and leave him alone

Mar enters her new room. Mama enters in a different red dress. She wonders how was her visit to the sea. Mar raves about how wonderful it was. O tells her she finally has everything she dreamed of getting and hugs her, Mar is sad....o closes the door and tells Mar since she is the suegea to Luis she does not belong in the servant quarters, but in the guest room. Mar agrees and will discuss it with Luis. O then insists she be with her when she talks to him because she is concerned for her. This is too much for Mar and she yells at O ( I don't get this, is O going to sleep with Mar too so she is never alone with Luis. I don't get her thinking).

Arturo tells Nick about Paula. He is shocked. They discuss the Paula rumors but agree this isn't the time to bring it up. Both of them agree they don't want Saul involved as an investor.

Mar and I fargue some more. O reminds her she did not push her into this marriage.

Paula is in bed looking on her phone and laughing. Leo walks in to their room as she quickly changes her facade to sadness and pain. She wants him to stay with her. He says he has to go to the police station and make sure that scumbag remains in jail. He hugs her as she slyly grins again.

Val and Nick again. She notices he looks upset about something so he tells her something horrible happened to Paula and he is worried about his brot7. She empathizes with him and knows how it feels as she also worries about her sister. She says how can she help. He says by working twice as hard and finishing the campaign so they can get an investor, I think...

Leo and Paula. Ah she has figured out how to remain in this house as she is afraid to go out. So much for house hunting.) Leo suggests they see a psychologist to help her. He kisses her then apologizes. She is confused. Does he think she shouldn't want intimacy after the abuse and he is apologizing. She slipped here..

More with Val and Nick. I guess I guessed this convo in the last discussion. She is going to try hard and hopefully they will find new investors and not use the guy that is in trouble with the law.

This next discussion between Leo and Paula needs clarification. I think he wants to know her history with Saul. I think she explains she was desperate to be a model and probably got the job via the casting couch. (Does that sound correct?)



 

Las hijas #38 part 4

Leo goes to Cecilia's studio telling her he is lost and is crying. Luis comes in. Leo cries he failed his wife. Luis comforts him.

Back in the barrio Susana is mopping the floor when Jacinto comes home from work. Susana had no help ( I think Gloria is gone, she hasn't been in the house in this episode). Jacinto is livid. Susana tries to calm him down. I guess they lived with his folks when they started out. Juan comes home. Jacinto tells him his wife is a lazy layabout. Juan will go talk to her. Susana is not happy with her husband

Leo ugly cries some more and tells his dad it's all his fault. He made Paula give up her career and that is why she went to see Saul, and then he abused her. (So I guess I got what Paula told him wrong). But this story doesn't make sense to me either. Luis insists Leo is not responsible for that mans actions.

My Fair Lady flashback as Val tries to walk with a book on her head. The Duo come in and shut off the music she is sashaying to and afk what are you doing. Ah, Val saw the same movie and that is why she was walking with the book on her head. The Duo tell her she is modeling active wear so that type of walk isn't needed. Nick comes in. The tutoring continues as she poses in high heels and active wear. How stupid!

Juan asks Cami why did you stay locked in our room all day playing on your phone. Cami says she doesn't have an to do. Juan says help mama. Cami says she is useless at housework. Juan says my mom can teach you. Cami agrees to try. He kisses her hand

Val's session is over. She and Nick sit on the couch as she takes her killer heels off. Nick tells her she didn't do so bad. She laughs at his faint praise. Cute dialogue between them as they discuss getting something to eat

O wants to talk to Luis alone. They are on the landing which I guess he thinks is private enough. O doesn't want him playing with her daughter. Huh?she says she spoke with Rocio and knows his secret. Duh duh dun

Kat, this was wonderfully wise and replete with wry wit.

Loved "Mar goes upstairs to sort her things (they came in empty-handed)" :)

At the family dinner, for a few brief moments, Camila seemed to drop all pretense, trying to prove her mettle by carving up the onion. (I believe the wet knife serves to minimize tears during the chopping). One of the few genuine smiles from her we've seen.

Nick's interest in Val is definitely deepening...

"Paula is in bed looking on her phone and laughing". Paula exuded sheer horror and terror when Saul attacked her. I was puzzled that the revulsion she felt seemed to be replaced today by self satisfied smiles that she'd gotten the best of Saul (not that I blame her certainly as he deserves to be locked up in perpetuity).

I wish I could answer your question about Leo and Paula's discussion; what you wrote certainly sounds plausible.

I'm anxious to see how Mar and Luis' relationship plays out.

As Susan noted Fede took one of the necessary papers for the transfer and placed it in her folder. Tino hasn't signed it yet.

I think Tino only swiped the thumb drive, not the laptop, from Igor

Felipe is a businessman who has mostly been located in the Coast. They talk about what brings him to the city. He is looking to diversify and is probably going to buy Pipe's house as he likes it, and Clara Luz. He isn't a new hire at maximax, he's a potential new client.

I think I got the distance between Clara luz and Rudolph wrong. She is mad that he doesn't miss Pipe like she does. He wants to find him so she will like him again.

Pretty bold of Paula to report Saul! I wonder if the charges will stick, it would be great if they did but for some reason, I'm thinking he'll weasel out of it...

I still can't get behind this whole let's get so upset at Cami for not helping after she's lived here for 4 days storyline...maybe next week.

Darcy, ITA that Paula was quite bold to go to the cops. This is not what usually happens with this type of story. What was the reason she gave for being at his place, wanting to restart her career ? This was quite clever as it will make Leo feel 10 times more guilty for having stopped her amazing career and forcing her to be a lazy housewife.

I also tend to agree with your take on Camila's situation. Sure, she's spoiled and sure, she doesn’t know how to boil and egg (i didn't at her age, either).
But the girl did get Juan out of jail, as he was about to be béat to death one to many times. Geez, she even paid for the lawyer, shouldn’t that count as "helping out"?
Last week they were willing to kiss the ground under her feet, this week she gotta scrub those toilets.

Diana, I might not have the time to watch the whole show when I get home But I will definitely check Val and Nick's interactions. I'm drawn to them, I feel like the chemistry is better.

i have seen the actor playing Nick and the actress playing Val before where they were star crossed lovers and had great chemistry , and it looks like that will happen again here . Arturo has tried to honestly help Val on many occasions . He showed up when Val was trying to clean up her house after O flooded the house. He bought the house to give to her . He took Val to be with Mar when Juan was in the hospital. He defended her against Pris.However, Val has never trusted him no matter how many tines he tried to help her. I don't understand it, but I doubt that is going to change.

I have continued recording all the episodes but have not had time to watch them and I am now officially totally lost. Reading the latest recaps brought this home to me, I had no idea what was happening.

I am, unfortunately, involved with a number of things lately that just eat up my time, and I am going to have to give up on Papas unless things change soon for the better.
At least I'm not worried about my job (long time retired), but I know some people who work for the feds and they are concerned.

Andy I'm 'retired', actually I've been a homemaker most of my life. I'm working harder now than ever as I babysit my granddaughter full time at her house so I have an hour commute .All the retirees we know are also super busy.

I'm out of my cataract surgery now. Not sure how successful it was as my eye is dilated. Just hope it's better than before. Thanks for the well wishes.

I laughed out loud at the scene with Checo pushing his dad on a full pallet while Chano, taking a break as usual, enjoyed two-fisted snacks! He still hasn’t learned much, while his son has greatly improved after his stint behind bars!

The scene with Guzman putting the moves on Chofis was creepy. This is another abusive situation, the increasingly dark undercurrent of this seemingly “light” show! I worry where this is going. I hope Pipe is ok.

Yes, Checo pushing Chano on the pallet was hysterical. "He still hasn't learned much, while his son has greatly improved after his stint behind bars" is absolutely true!!

Guzman pawing at Chofis was indeed sickening. I hope she tells her parents immediately. We should see the aftermath tonight...

Thanks Diana. Great recap. Although Guzman’s actions toward Chofis made my skin crawl. I hope he’s soon discovered, but then everyone would know he’s the bad guy. Is he getting even with Lichita because he liked her in high school?

I guess Fed is double crossing Guzmán. Although we don’t really know what the paper says.

I wonder if the hiring of Checo will break up Aide and Tino. Everyone will tell her that Tino hired him.

Babachita, that was in last night's show. It was funny. Another funny scene was when Fede was telling Chano to refine his speech. That explains why I'm having such a hard time understanding him and the barrio gang. Every other word starts with ch it seems, just like the Ch(?) family.

At first I thought Paula was crying real tears, but at one point she seemed to have the beginning of a smile while crying on Leo’s shoulder. I think she said Saúl felt he’d be a better model than Val and she went over to talk to him. I was trying to remember if she knew Saúl was going to invest in the sportswear line. That would make the reason she went really perfect.

I agree about Camila. She needs time to adjust to living with them and she always had servants. But she could interact with the family instead of staying in her room. But I’m also hoping that Susana and Jacinto will soon realize Mar might have been a better fit in the family.

I can’t believe Ofelia told Luis she knows his secret. She’s a little too much for me!

Kat, a wished you a good healing on the Papas page, I should have said it on the response to your recap. So prayers that the healing goes well.

Liz, I think that when Saul showed up for dinner at the mansion , it was mentioned that he was investing in the new clothing line with Art and Nick.

I guess if Saul starts revealing Paula's murky past with him, she will say he is lying and vengeful because she reported his attack to the police. Paula is pretty cagey.

I believe Guzman's horrific actions towards Chofis are revenge for Lichita rejecting him and also towared Chano who "got the girl". He needs to be stopped cold.

PAPAS #36 Part 1

Previously, Guzmán puts his sordid revenge plan into motion. Staring intently at Chofis, he purposefully moves his chair closer to hers. As she stares wide eyed, he gently brushes her hair off her face as his hand lingers on her shoulder. His hand slides along her skirt, as Chofis physically freezes. He then takes his hand and moves her head so she is forced to look at his hideous countenance. Her eyes reflect her panic and her fear.

Igor goes into Guzmán office; he is holding the thumb drive.

Tino, whose sixth sense IS working, commandeers Igor’s thumb drive and sees the “monster” image. As the truth dawns on him, he mutters “Guzmán”.

Aidé runs into Checo as he delivers boxes to the reception desk. She grimaces and confronts him. She asks who hired him and I believe he says Tino as a favor to his father.

Chofis is looking away from Guzmán but he takes his hand and gently brushes her chin. Chofis ends up saved for the moment by idiot lgor who runs in advising him of trouble. With that Guzmán gets up leaving Chofis frozen.

Facundo tris to lay the law down to Fed her answer is to push him away. Chano comes in and Fed introduces him to Facundo who immediately dismisses him, refusing to shake his hand.

Tino and Rudolf sit and Tino starts to show him the picture but an annoyed Aidé wants to “talk” with him NOW.

Igor is talking with Guzmán and realizes the thumb drive is gone.

Uli and Gina talk with Circe and Lorena. Lorena asks about Mateo and next Checo. Circe tells her friend her mother is not a Checo fan (what an understatement).

Checo and Tino are in front of Aidé when Chano and Lichita come in, surprised to see their son. Chano asks what he is doing there. Tino says he hired him and then defends Checo saying how brave Checo was in saving Circe at the party. Lichita looks lost, it seems neither she nor her husband knew about the party or what transpired.

PAPAS #36 Part 2

Later, Checo tells Aidé he was wrong and leaves as Aidé heaves a sigh. His parents accost him in the corridor giving him the third degree and as usual Chano and Lichita end up arguing. When Chofis arrives, Lichita asks how things went with Guzmán but Chofis merely stares. Chano calls out to his daughter but she robotically kisses him on the cheek. Fed comes out…

Igor, wearing a jacket of many colors, is berating himself, hitting himself in the head (hit harder I urge). I was lost during their conversation but Fed was included in what they discussed.

Clara Luz and Rudolf argue. He mentions something about not respecting a decision.

Tino is still on the hot seat when Fed arrives. To our amazement, she says Tino didn’t hire Checo, she did! Aidé is defensive, saying she is preoccupied with her daughter but after all, it is my child she affirms. Fed ends up apologizing and I believe that in the end, Aidé appears to capitulate, with warnings to both Fed and Tino.

Lila comes in while Circe and Lorena are on computer in her room. “Checo my love” Circe murmurs. Fed texts her something about Checo.

Igor comes in snapping his fingers to Fed. She grabs him and pushes him away (and the point of this scene eludes me).

Tino and Rudolf discuss what he found on the computer and later carry on the discussion at a bar.

Back home, Lichita is talking to Chofis who can barely look at her mother. Lichita brings up her days of being at the prepa with Guzmán. Chofis is clearly upset as Lichita backs up and then looks at her seriously, hand on her arm.

Fed is back to threatening Emi.

I can’t interpret what Chofis actually tells her mother but after, she seemed to backtrack a bit. Lichita says how “respectable” Guzmán is. Lichita goes on to rant about Checo when Clara Luz arrives to rant about Rudolf who seems to be confessing his feelings on Clara Luz to Tino. Were Tino and Rudolf going to look for Pipe?

Clara Luz thanks Lichita for her advice although it seems Clara Luz does all the talking.

PAPAS #36 Part 3 of 3

Fed is again scolding a terrified Emi. Fed then sprinkles something on the floor and I think she is trying to force him to stand up, which he doesn’t seem to be able to do. Aidé and Scarlet come in and they help her pick up the spilled whatevers.

Rudolf is at the club when several young women come up to him. One of them (Anna?) approaches him and is very handsy, leaning forward kissing him. Naturally Clara Luz showed up at the same time and sees them.

FINALLY, Scarlet tells Emi how much she misses Ponce.

Aidé and Fed talk about Checo. In the next scene, Aidé and a tat laden Tino are in bed continuing to beat the poor dead horse that is Checo. She thanks him for everything he has done for Maximax.

Guzmán and Aide have a brief conversation, I believe Rudolf was mentioned.

Tino is with someone who is checking out Tino’s computer. The only word I understood was “spam”. He says Guzmán name and Tino looks up in alarm.

Guzmán tells Igor to calm down but he is clearly furious at him.

Clara Luz and Lichita walk the halls of Maxiclick. Lichita seems to mention Guzmán and Chofis. Clara Luz reminds her he is your jefe.

Mateo approaches Circe and her friends at school (why is he not in jail??) and gets in her face calling her an idiot. A very upset Circe calls her mother for support.

Tino enters Guzmán’s office and confronts him. Pipe, Clara Luz and Rudolf were mentioned. Guzmán says something; did he infer that Tino is not Circe and Uli’s father or was it something else?

I am so sorry but I was lost through most of this; my extremely rudimentary Spanish is just not at a level necessary for this telenovela. I noted many scenes as placeholders in case something vital was said. I had to speculate on some of the dialogue, otherwise, there would not have been a recap. I hope I hit the mark on at least some of it. Kindly fill in what I missed and correct what I got wrong. As always, I appreciate everyone’s assistance.

Las hijas Capitulo 39
Part 1/3

Ofelia confronts Luis over his past secrets. She knows what happened with Rocio, she says, but Luis calls her crazy. Ofelia promises she will defend her daughter no matter what. Luis gets mad, he says she is wasting his time and storms off.

Mar is in her new room when Luis arrives. She realizes he’s not feeling well, urges him to relax. He doesn’t want to speak at first, but then says he has a hard time with things that are out of his control, like her mother’s behavior. Mar has had it with her mom, too, she will take care of her. Luis doesn’t want another fight, she better not say anything.
Luis wants to sleep on the couch, Mar says she’s taking the couch, but Luis insists, she needs her rest, especially with a baby on the way.

Val has taken Nick to eat some street food. They debate about good food for a while, then about things they like in general. Then they both realize time has flown by, it’s very late. Nick offers to take her home. He’s enjoying this quite a lot.

It’s morning and Juan is leaving, he tells Camila he will be back late. She wants to come with him, but he says she can’t, he’s going to work. She reminds him he promised to spend more time together; how else could he start caring for her if not? Juan says he’ll do his best to do just that.

Nick comes to visit his mother’s grave. He misses her so much, everybody does. They need her love, the family is in such turmoil. And he feels more lost than ever before. He can’t stop thinking about Valeria and how she makes him feel. And he knows this is not right, because Art is interested in her. He also still has doubts about her honesty. What to do, what to do?

Mar confronts Ofelia about her talk to Luis and the stress she caused him. Ofelia says Luis is not what he appears to be. Mar asks her mother to stop putting ideas in her head, just leave her alone, Luis is the best man she’s ever met.

Arturo runs into Paula and says he was very sorry to hear what happened to her. He had no clue Saul would be capable of this. Paula says the only reason she went to see him was because Arturo knew the guy. Of course Art feels guilty, he expresses his sympathy once again.
Smiling mischievously once he’s gone, Paula then talks to Leo. Once again, she uses what happened to her advantage, Leo can’t still plan to move them out of the house, right? Just wait until she feels better… Leo says the most important thing right now is that she feels well, get some therapy. She will decide when it’s time to go.

Graciela and Luis talk over breakfast, she doesn’t like it when they fight. Luis asks her to respect his marriage, Graciela promises to always support him. He wants to mention Rocio, but Paula arrives and takes advantage of the situation to once again draw on her sudden gain in sympathy. Luis promises his support and that of the entire family.

Part 2/3

Nick and Arturo brainstorm about their next steps. Nick thinks Val is ready but locking her up in a studio is not the best way to go. He suggests going to Valle de Bravo and have a shooting session there. If they gather a smaller team and Art takes the pictures, they can pull it off. All that Art needs to do is get along with Val.
Art knows that, but it’s not easy, especially since Val has quite the character. Nick thinks they just need to talk and be open about what they feel. She cares about him, how does Art really feel? Art is not sure he deserves her, Nick thinks he needs to decide how he really feels and be honest with Val.

Camila asks for directions to get to the mansion. But it’s rather complicated and she is lost. She gets a taxi.

Val comes to see Mar, who is doing well. They talk about their strained relationship, Mar promises that Val will understand her actions later on. Val promises to be there for her sister and only asks her to watch out for everything, even for Luis. She doesn’t know much, only some gossip from her mother, but please, be careful.
Mar insists Luis is a good man, how can Val trust their mother?
They quarrel about Val being a model, then Val asks why she is with Luis. Ofelia interrupts them and wants to know what they’re talking about. Val is as pleasant as always (sarcasm) and leaves. I can’t disagree with Ofelia when she calls her “amargada”.

In the study, Luis tells Graciela that Rocio has been talking to Ofelia. Graciela is worried about Ofelia, but Luis thinks Rocio is the one to be scared about. Graciela is worried about the two… But she will handle Rocio. Luis needs to avoid getting into trouble, but she has nothing to lose, she will confront her. She insists that Ofelia is very ambitious, and they need to keep an eye on her, too.

Jacinto and Juan are on their lunch break and talk about Camila. Did Juan marry for love or because he owes Camila so much? Juan pretends, he says that he is in love, but Jacinto doesn’t buy it. He asks Juan not to lie to himself, how could he marry to settle a debt? Juan insists Camila is a good wife, they just need time to know her better.

Camila comes to the mansion. She asks Graciela for cash to pay for the taxi. She is doing fine, but she doesn’t like living in that foreign house. Mar is listening from upstairs; Camila sees her and says out loud that she and Juan are doing great.
Mar comes down the stairs and plays the busy lady of the house, apologizing for not having more time to spend with her. When she leaves, Camila tells Graciela she can’t stand that woman. She will never accept her. Graciela says they have no other option if they don’t want to have problems with Luis.

Nick and Luis talk about this and that… Lusi feels better after his trip, he’s not upset that Nick left the house, this only proves that he’s the most responsible one, in spite of everything… In spite of what, Nick asks. Nothing, just everything that has been going on.
Nick says he can’t stay away from him, they talk about giving their support to Paula and Leo.

Later, Leo comes by the office saying he feels so bad about everything that has happened. He just found out Paula went to see that guy to talk about her career. She gave it all up for him and she never asked much in return. They need to help her now more than never.
Luis thinks this is not the best time to expose her, she needs time to heal. Leo is upset, taking this as a refusal to help from Luis.

Part 3/3

Mar offers her sympathy to Paula. They connect over how bad they were both treated when they first arrived at the house. Mar offers her support, Paula thanks her profusely. They hug, Paula is very happy with herself. She apologizes for the times she treated Mar bad, after everything that has happened to her, now she realizes what truly matters. Mar encourages her. They promise to become allies.

Nick and Art tell the rest of the team they will go to Valle de Bravo for a shooting session. One of the guys thinks Val is not ready, but Nick is sure she will be able to handle it. Right, Val? She seems a bit lost.

Ofelia bothers Camila, the new Senora Chavez, over her new life as a married woman. She hopes she is doing fine. Camila gets mad, especially when Ofelia points out the mansion is no longer her home. She leaves in a huff, pushing past Paula and hurting her shoulder. She can’t catch a break this poor woman (sarcasm).
Graciela tells Camila she doesn’t have to leave, but Cam can’t stand to be here while these two women are around. Graciela asks her to come back, but Camila won’t be without Juan. Graciela agrees to give her some money. They hug.

Leo whines to Nick that nobody cares about him. Their dad won’t help Paula restart her career, he thinks she needs to get over her pain first. He thinks dad never cares about how he truly feels. Nick offers to help out, he needs a presenter for his new line, could Paula handle that? Leo is sure she can, he thanks his brother.

Ofelia is snooping around Cecilia’s painting studio. She finds some expensive jewelry, but that’s not what she’s after. She needs some proof to find out who Rocio’s son is.

Graciela comes to confront Rocio and asks her to stay away from her brother’s family. Back in the day she agreed to stay away from her son, it’s the pact she made with Cecilia. She hands her some money, but Rocio doesn’t take it. What can she know about a mother’s pain? She never had a child.
Graciela slaps her and demands that she stay away from her family. Or else!!

There was good laugh for me last night when Mar told Luis she was “starting” to get tired of her mother. Only “starting”? after all her mother has put her through? Really?

Has anyone seen another novela where there are so many slap happy people?

Why didn’t Camila didn’t take more of her belongings and only cash when she visited her aunt at the mansion? Not smart.

Jarifa I agree Cami should have grabbed some clothes. Nick is no longer there to thwart her and daddy would likely let her have her possessions. What Nick did to her still rankles, especially since he took his possessions when he left.

Paula is playing Leo like a Stradivarius. I fear she will also be able to easily manipulate Mar who is alone, adrift in a sea of sharks (save perhaps for Luis. TBD).

Nick "...still has doubts about her honesty. What to do, what to do?" He is cautiously approaching his feelings for Val which would normally be admirable except he is so distrustful. And volatile.

When Rocio threw the fact that Graciela never had a child in her face, was the resulting slap just another in an endless stream (as you pointed out Jarifa) or did that possibly hit too close to home (?) Pure speculation.

I can't believe that Fed is still intimidating poor Emi. She doesn't even try to be quiet as she is threatening him . This time Aide and Scarlet suddenly walked into the room . I am not sure what she threw in the floor. Was it Emi's pills ? She is crazy.

Finally, Scarlet brings up Ponce. I hope Braids is taking care of that poor little dog.

I hope Chofis tells her mother about creepy Guzman . Maybe if she hasn't because he is the boss and her mom thinks he is so great , Chofis will tell someone else..perhaps Checco.

Tattooed Tino seems to now realize that Guzman is up to no good.

Thanks Diana, for another great recap. I’m pretty sure Fed tossed Emi’s pills on the floor. She threatened to smash them. The pills seem to be an important part of his treatment. Poor Emi, I think it’s going to be a while before someone catches Fed.

I thought Guzmán said something to Igor about nobody can find out they’re brothers. That was when he was mad at him about the thumb drive.

Chofis told her mother Guzmán made her feel uncomfortable. She needed to tell her everything he did. I’m afraid this is another child being tortured that will be with us for a while. Once others realize what Fed and Guzmán are doing the show will be ending. Maybe Lichita will decide not to make her daughter be with someone who makes her uncomfortable.

Thanks Adriana, I enjoyed your recap. I guess Juan is working with his dad now. Was it construction? Did Camila want to go to work with him, or have him stay home. She watched her dad and brothers leave for work every day so should realize that’s what people do.

If Paula is going to be modeling with Val I can think of so much going wrong! Paula is one sneaky lady. She turns her rape to her advantage.

Camila and Graciela just lump Ofelia and Mar together, which really anoys me. Mar is nothing like her mother.

I agree about Camila not being able to take her clothes, Nick had no right to make that demand. But where would she have put her stuff? And can you picture her walking around Juan’s home in her nice dress and heels. I think it’s silly how the woman are always so dressed up and they don’t do anything.

I know that Graciela loves her brother ,but confronting him the minute he walked into the foyer? was not as good idea. How was your vaca? Hey, let me tell you immediately all about everything that hit he fan while you were gone . Poor Luis looked so happy and calm in his blue shirt and snappy orange sportscoatwith young Mar by his side. And then...reality strikes in the form of his beloved sis, who somehow always seems to be descending that grand staircase just at the right moment to meet whomever is entering the foyer.

We have seen these maiden aunts before in telenovelas and dizis. They have a special place in the family. Rocia mentioning Graciels not being a mother really set Graciela off. Smack.

O is still snooping and being quite brazen about it. This woman in her fancy new wardrobe needs to stay large and in charge.

Yes, Marcelo is one of my favorite novios ever since the first time I saw him in my first and favorite telenovela " Alborado." He played Marco,the loyal, brave bodyguard for Luis ( Fernando Colunga) . He defended any and all innocents with his trusty sword. Susan

Thanks Adriana, for your wonder recap! I didn't have time to comment this morning, so I am very late to the party. This new work schedule change is kicking my bootie, but I'll adjust quickly, I hope! I enjoyed your wit and sarcasm as always.

While I agree that Nic had no right to tell Cami that she couldn't take her things, I do see a distinction between him taking his things and her taking hers. As someone else commented last week, Nic works for a living and Cami never had so when Cami was leaving everything behind, she was truly leaving everything daddy bought in daddy's house and going to live with her husband while Nic very likely did buy his own clothes with his salary.

I just love the novela troupe of I heard a vague rumor, I don't really know the details but now I KNOW that you are a bad man, and I will protect my daughter/mother/sister/friend from you! It's bad enough from Ofelia who doesn't really know all the facts just Rosio's version of the story, but Val? Amparo told her that Ofelia told her some vague confusing story, refused to give her details.... but um Luis is a bad man!!! And Val still runs off to Mar telling her that Luis is NOT to be trusted!!! Who needs actual facts? Or like well-grounded accusations? Not novela characters, that's for sure! Such fun!

 

PAPAS #37 Part 1

Tino confronts Guzmán. Again, I think he says something that Tino either isn’t the bio father of the twins or is just their father out of convenience. Whatever the content of their conversation, Guzmán is in Tino’s face leaving no doubt that Guzmán is not an honorable player. Later, Tino tells him he is their father and stares at Tino as though he has two heads.

Aidé and Fed have words about Checo’s hiring and naturally Circe. Fed whines and apologizes but Aidé actually tells her to get out of her office!

Circe has a mini meltdown and is comforted by her friends Gina and Lorena. Mateo sends her a threatening text calling her an idiot and threatening Checo. She texts Checo to warn him.

Lichita talks to Clara Luz about Chofis who offers a sympathetic ear.

Circe visits Checo in the warehouse. He isn’t happy to see her but she wants to warn him. He tells her to calm down and stares at her. He pouts a bit (not prettily I might add), but they end up holding hands and she puts her hands on his shoulders and they hug.

Guzmán keeps on the theme of Tino being a father of convenience. Guzmán stops when Aidé walks in. She senses something amiss, but Guzmán lies through his teeth saying all is find and Tino agrees. Aidé seems to accept their explanation and ends up thanking both of them. Guzmán seems to be giving Tino a warning or ultimatum as he says “tick, tock” as though time is winding down.

Rudolf and Clara Luz speak a bit. I can’t translate but she shuts her computer and walks off.

Rudolf tries to talk to his best bud about his (lack of) love life and Tino, to his credit, does muster up a bit of sympathy. Fed later corners Tino batting her eyes about Aidé being upset with her.

Tino gets home to a surprise party where the children have gathered with decorations, a table laden with food, musical instruments and microphones. Aidé confesses she argued with Fed. She later tells him what a good father he is and kisses him.

Guzmán and Fed hiss at each other, Guzmán puckering his mouth and moving his hand as if a snake is crawling, the inference clear. Lichita knocks and wants a few minutes; he makes another snake motion at Fed behind the semi closed door. He asks if all is right with Chofis (as he watches carefully for her reaction) and asks about her classes. Clearly uncomfortable, Lichita answers him rather haltingly. He likens Chofis to his sobrina.

PAPAS #37 Part 2

Tino is on drums as everyone sings (mercifully this is short). All the kids and Aidé run to his arms as he recalls Guzmán’s taunting.

Chofis and her (boy) friend Oliver are talking when Chano calls her into the house looking at his watch. She runs back.

Uh oh, Guzmán arrives at the party much to Tino’s chagrin. It seems Aidé invited him. Oblivious to Tino’s reaction, Aidé welcomes him as he gives his niece and nephew presents. Tino glares.

Clara Luz gets her suitcases down the stairs when the doorbell rings. It’s Felipe! He sees the suitcases and says she must be sad to leave. They sit down and he has her smiling within seconds. He has his hand on her arm when an unhappy Rudolf arrives. Felipe is nice to him as he makes himself scarce. After he leaves, Rudolf’s jealousy is apparent as he goes after Clara Luz, quite nastily. He mentions his music and Pipe but the rest was lost on me. She tries to call him back but he leaves.

Guzmán is going on about the kids as Aidé smiles and hugs Tino. Tino (admirably) controls his temper. Outside Guzmán gives Tino more grief…

Tino talks to Bertha about what transpired with Guzmán.

Fed talks to Lichita about Guzmán and his “classes”. Lichita mutters something under her breath about Guzmán but won’t repeat it to Fed. Does she infer that there was some questionable behavior on Guzmán’s part?

Aide argues with Circe about Checo. She lays down the law…

Dinner at Lichita’s where she and Chofis discuss Guzmán in some context. Checo and Chano are also mentioned.

Aidé gives a toast at the dinner where poor Scarlet cries over the loss of her beloved Ponce. Aidé holds her hand comfortingly.

PAPAS #37 Part 3 of 3

Fed is at Aidé’s door but Rina basically tells her to git per Aidé’s orders, shutting the door in her face! Outside, Facundo shows up to gloat, opening the door with his remote key, grinning.

Aidé and Tino sit; he murmurs he has something important to tell her as Facundo barges in. Then Aidé she gets a call saying Facundo is responsible for Ponce’s disappearance. As this is going down, Chintolo grabs Checo off the street, holding a gun to his stomach as he talks about Circe.

Facundo denies the accusations as Aidé and Tino attack him. Fed arrives and an angry Aidé is ready to throw her out but Fed proceeds to throw Facundo under the bus. Then to our shock and awe, unless my ears deceived me, he announces to a flabbergasted Aidé and Tino that he and Fed are amantes!!! Fed’s head snaps to the other side in shock and horror.

So much of this hinged on exactly what Guzmán said to Tino about Circe and Uli – I so wish I had understood what it was! Kindly add what I missed and/or got wrong. Thank you.

Guzman gave Tino 24 hours to return the USB or he will tell Aide that Tino is not the bio dad of the twins. Guzman seems to know who is, Tino thought maybe it was Guzman, but he denied it.

Guzman wants the missing page on the transfer of shares from Fede. That is what they were arguing about.

I think I answered your question about Guzman. I watched this and last night's episodes back to back as I fell asleep early last night.

Fede tells Luchita that Chofis is telling stories about Guzman because she doesn't want to study and do homework. She alludes that by making up stories Luchita will stop using Guzman as her tutor. Needless to say I'm really mad about this. Luchita was actually concerned for her daughter. The discussion between Chofis and her mother followed Fede's claim. Mom tells Chofis is going back to the office for another tutoring session with Guzman.

What a shock that Tino isn't the twins father. Did anyone see this coming? I surely didn't. Tino showed no surprise so he obviously knew all along they weren't his. Does this mean they didn't get together that fateful night (?)

I'm grateful also for your explanation that Fed was deliberately feeding Luchita lies about Guzman's actions. Fed has no conscience; I'm disgusted as well.

You are so kind to provide all these details; I'm sure you were exhausted after your surgery and glad you were able to get some rest and are hopefully feeling better.

Rocio tells Graciela she needs to know who her son is, and tell him how much he means to her. Cecilia took advantage of her desperation and took him away. Graciela says her son was raised well and he has siblings, a happy life, does she want to ruin this? She insists she will never meet her son… only over her dead body (what… don’t say that). They’ve been keeping this secret for so long and Luis has a lot of power. Just stay away from the house and everyone inside it. Rocio mentions “Gloria”, which surprises Graciela, but she leaves. Rocio thinks “Gloria” set her a trap.

Ofelia finds some pencil drawings of Nick, she assumes he was Cecilia’s favorite. Mar finds her, Ofelia pretty much admits to the audience that Mar is her favorite daughter. Mar wants her to leave Cecilia’s studio, Ofelia says she was only cleaning the place and searching for proof that Luis is not a good man. Mar asks her to stop, while Paula listens at the door. Ofelia says this is Mar’s house, too, and she has the right to be where her daughter is.

Susana is ironing when Camila arrives. She asks if she can help finish the clothes while she starts dinner. Cam agrees, but has to be shown how to do it, first. It’s so easy, Susana says and shows her… Oh boy, another fire in the neighborhood coming soon.
As soon as Susana says something about the food, Camila moves away from the clothes, leaving the iron on the shirt, face down. And sure enough, the shirt is ruined. And then the ironing table, too.
Juan and Jacinto arrive and are happy to see her work. But then Juan sees the ruined shirt. He says it’s no big deal and Susana laughs, only Jacinto seems a bit bothered.

Still training with the two experts, Val is making progress, but she needs to find her own style, put some of her own personality into the photos. “Talk with the eyes”, Nick says. What? He explains that he always noticed how strong she was, she needs to channel that strength while looking at the camera. They go back to taking pictures and Val is doing it much better. Even she likes it. And Nick just gazes…
Later alone with Val, he tells her she’s doing great and she will be just fine when they do the shooting. She is surprised he has so much trust in her, he can’t even explain why, he just does. She is so grateful that she hugs him… in a very platonic manner, but he takes it all in, closing his eyes and enjoying the moment a little too much. She asks if she needs to prepare something for their trip to Valle de Bravo and Nick confirms they will spend the night. They fist bump and Val leaves. Nick sits on his couch and tries to shake off the feels…”what is going on with me”

Leo brings Paula some flowers to cheer her up. And a fancy necklace. But she’s still so sad…She does put it on though. Then Leo tells her about presenting Nick’s event and she says she’s scared, what if she can’t do it? But it’s all an act, as it’s shown by her smirk when Leo hugs her.

Luis has found a doctor for Mar, she needs to get checked out every month. At first, she doesn’t see the need for this, but he insists and offers to accompany her. She agrees.

part 2/3

It’s the next day and the group is about to leave for Valle de Bravo. Val rolls her eyes at Art when she sees him, so he’d rather take his own car and go separately. But Nick disagrees, they need to talk about work on the way, too. He practically pushes his brother to the mini bus they’re all taking. Val just turns away when Art takes a seat, what is this girl’s problem?

Graciela tells Luis she took care of that woman, warned her she needed to leave them alone. Ofelia interrupts and sits down to eat, then Mar shows up also. She won’t eat, Luis explains they are going out. Ofelia wants to go with them but Luis says no.

Camila is very clingy, Juan is not in the mood, he’s in a hurry to leave. She reminds him that Mar has moved on, he should do the same. Juan says he no longer has feelings for Mar, but Camila needs proof. Juan kisses her and apparently it’s very hot because she gets a big smile on her face. She promises not to touch anything around the house, she’d only ruin it. Juan is sure she can learn, at the very least try. Camila is capable of everything, that one kiss proved to her that Juan no longer loves Mar. Wow, he has to have some magical lips.

Paula asks Ofelia why she is snooping around the house. It’s not like she’s working anymore. Ofelia says she’s not searching for anything, and she wouldn’t confide in her, anyway. Also, she might fool the others with her “poor me” attitude, but she knows better. That man has been looking for her a lot, calling her… all those packages might have come from him. She knows how one behaves after such an attack and that’s not it. She doesn’t believe Paula’s act for a second.

Arriving at Valle de Bravo, Nick tries to play the referee between Val and Art. Art is willing to make the effort, Val says OK, but she’s only doing it for’ Nick, because he’s not to blame for all their problems. Nick is happy to hear it (a bit too much if you ask me) but says they’re in this together. Alone with Art, he encourages him, also, the pictures will be great. As for their relationship, they just need to talk and maybe they can solve their issues.
Val is getting fixed up, she’s still very combative with Art. She says she no longer believes in his pretty words, they should just work. I just can’t with this girl.

Later, they start to take pictures, but it’s not Art, it’s the other photographer. Nick doesn’t seem happy, asks Art to go talk to Val.
He goes to tell Val that he has to have fun with the photos. No, not take the job as a joke, but try to enjoy it. She is beautiful, she can only improve the clothes she’s wearing. He urges her to forget their conflict and try to do a good job for all these people. She agrees and finally relaxes, laughing at Art’s jokes. He takes the camera and starts taking the pictures. The others are impressed, Nick says this is the effect Art has on her, he’s the only one who can make her smile like this.

Mar gets to see her baby and hear the heartbeat. Everything seems to be in order. She thanks Luis, she is very moved after seeing her child for the first time. It gives her strength to take on the entire world.
She is so thankful to Luis, he made all of this possible. But she is worried about telling this to her mother. He thinks her mom’s opinions need to stop mattering to her so much. He could give her the news after some time passes. Mar would rather she did it.

Ofelia is back to snooping, this time in Art’s room. Graciela sees her, says he’s not around. If Ofelia needs to know things about her daughter, Val, she should ask her directly.

part 3/3

Nick and Art talk about the photos, they are all great. They decide to give the crew a 30 minute break and Art tells Val her work is great. She should go to rest for a while. He watches longingly as she leaves, Nick tells him to follow her to explain to her the photos. Art doesn’t want to go, Nick pushes him to go talk to her, confront what he’s feeling once and for all.

At the office Luis comes to talk to Leo, trying to reach out. He can’t believe the years have passed by so fast! Today he remembered how happy he and Cecilia felt when they knew they were going to have a baby. Yes, they have their issues, but life can be so beautiful. He was so nervous to be a father for the first time, but it all changed the moment he first held him. He gave meaning to his life. And everything he does, he does it for their sake. Never doubt that. They both cry. I guess we can be sure Leo is not Rocio’s son.

Nick tells the crew they are done for the day, they can pack their things. One of the guys says they still have a lot of work to do, but Nick insists. He has something important to do, they’re all free to go.

Art follows Val to the cabin. He came so they could check the photos together. She thinks he should stop pretending to be polite, she only played nice because a lot of people are counting on them. She refuses to see the photos, that’s his job, not hers, so he’s about to leave. But then he comes back and asks when she will accept that she feels something for him. Val insists that he’s playing with her, she will never fall for one of his games.
Nick comes to the door and closes it from the outside. Val hears the noise, realizes the door is locked and calls for Nick through the window. He turns to her and shows her the keys, then just walks away. She finally understands what he is doing and starts screaming for him to open. Art just smiles.

Ofelia has come to see Rocio, who doesn’t want to allow her inside her house. Ofelia tells her she has been looking for information on her son. And now she finally found it.

Nick explains to Pedro that his brother and Val need to realize they are in love. Pedro is surprised, he thought that Nick had feelings for her, seeing how he looks at her and everything he does for her. No, of course not, his feelings are not important. If his brother loves this woman, he needs to be with her.

Mar asks her driver to stop the car for a moment. She goes in the street to caress her belly and talk to her child (as one does). She remembers Juan’s love promises when they were on the run.
In his car, Juan thinks about Camila and then about giving Mar a ring. He almost crashes. He pulls over and slaps himself a few times. Sure enough, he runs into Mar. They are both shocked, Mar asks him not to get to close, go back to his wife. What about her husband, he asks, while getting awfully close.

Adriana, thanks for all the descriptive scenes.
After 2 years of learning Spanish I'm getting a lot of it, but some things slip by me. Cami is at least making an attempt. I see her growing up and maturing. I saw the burned shirt a mile off, but Juan was a good sport about it. Speaking of Juan, looks like he is still Uber driving. I imagine the previous episode with Dad was just them meeting for lunch as he was in the area.

Nick locking Val and Arturo together was a dumb plot twist. I can't believe there is no way to unlock it from inside. What if there's a fire. Is there only one door to the cabin. And as I've said before, the model is it should be secondary to the active wear. All these shoots only have her wear one outfit. How implausible. I still preferred her look when she had her hair tied back. The long hair accentuates her long face, imo.

Highlight: At the breakfast table, Luis unceremoniously telling Ofelia that she was not going with him and Mar. Ha!

Should be a good one tonight when we see more of Mar and Juan’s conversation.

Fabulous as always Adriana Noel. So well written and a pleasure to read.

I keep wondering if Ofelia's taunt to Paula "She knows how one behaves after such an attack and that’s not it" was borne of personal experience. Ofelia's deep, dark past has yet to be revealed.

Ofelia thinking the sketches "prove" that Nick is Rocio's daughter is head shaking.

It's terribly hurtful when a parent has a clear preference for one child over another, but honestly, Val is being a petulant, vinegar faced brat so right now I can't blame Ofelia for choosing sweet Mar!

As I can't forget how horribly Camila treated Mar, I can't really enjoy her failed forays into ironing and other housework. How silly to think Juan "forgot" Mar after one kiss.

Two things seem crystal clear after last night. First, Nick is smitten and besotted with Val. Second, Mar and Juan still love each other.

Thanks Diana, great recap. I didn’t understand much of the Guzmán/Tino conversation about the twins. I guess because I had no doubt they were Tino’s. I also didn’t understand the conversation between Tino and his mom. I think part of it was a flashback but they seemed to be talking about him not being the twins father.

Fed was awful when she convinced Lichita that Chofis just doesn’t want to study.

I’m glad Fed and Facundo ended up tattling on each other. Aidé and Tino have a better idea of who they’re dealing with.

It seemed like a lot of important stuff happened in this episode.

I Am getting tired of Val too. She’s got two guys in love with her and she’s not even very lila le. Although she can be around others. So the brothers, especially Arturo, bring out the worse in her.

Ofelia snooping around the house looking through things is just creepy. She really needs to be told to move. And a sketch pad full of pictures of Nick prives he’s Rocio’s son! There could be sketch pads of all the kids somewhere.

I did love Luis telling Ofelia she couldn’t come with them. And I also liked her telling Paula she knew she was faking.

I just remember how cruel Camila was to Mar, and how she told Juan he had to forget Mar if he wanted her help. So she could have ironed that whole basketball of clothes and I wouldn’t be impressed.

Fed has no moral compass. Poor Chofis . Please let her tell someone , or have someone witness what Guz is doing.

I am glad that both Fed and clown Facundodo spilled the beans about Ponce,and their affair.Despicable people. Unfortunately now Dodo doesn't know where Ponce is.

I knew that Braids would pull Checo back into the dark side. Maybe Checco will rescue Ponce the way he rescued Circe from Mateo. I don't understand that Aide isn't grateful to Checo for rescuing Circe.

Ofelia continues to amaze me with her brazen search through the mansion. One thing that I have noticed is that she believes that the best defense is a good offense. Whenever anyone calls her out, she immediately attacks back😘
It surely seems as though O must have been attacked herself in the murky past because she seemed very certain that cagey Paula was putting on a show.

There are so many unlikable people on this show, but Val pushes my buttons. What is her problem? Why this prideful , ungrateful attitude ? Isn't she exhausted carrying this giant chip on her shoulder ? She has this job dropped in her lap and two guys trying to help her . I hope she doesn't end up with anyone . Maybe it's the way that the actress is portraying this character...her facial expressions expression and body language.

I like Mar. So far, I haven't seen her hurt anyone . She is grateful to Luis for his help and concern. She already loves her baby . She isn't yelling and pouting 24\7, and she is trying to make the best of her situation after enduring lots of people trying to manipulate her starting with her mother . She also put up with verbal abuse from Cami, Paula, and Susana and physical abuse from Cami. I am sure that she and Juan will end up together.

Maybe Leo will change now that he and Luis chad that talk, and Luis told him how much he loved him and how excited he was when Leo was born. It is v informs that Leo is not Rocio's son. Susan

There is going to be chaos when Mar's pregnancy is announced. Her perceived status as a gold digger will be blown up exponentially, the dollar signs in Ofelia's eyes will grow to twice their size, and I'm sure Paula will try to kill Mar on the Staircase of Death. Camila will have a tantrum, the two younger sons will probably -- at first -- say their dad still has mojo. and all this could drive Graciela to tranquilizers. But she will carry on.

The iron burning through a garment is a definite novela cliche, so let's move on from there.

Any news about the stolen taxi cab?

I guess I'm in an opposite camp thinking Nick was Cecelia's favorite because she has a tablet full of Nick sketches, though as a child I couldn't tell who the subject was, except the hair is dark so that lends it to being Nick. I agree there probably are sketch books of each child.

Cataract surgery was more or less a success, though there is still a wavy area in the center of my vision. In 3 weeks, after the swelling goes down, I'll get a new Rx prescription for glasses. I thought I would possibly schedule the other eye, but I've changed my mind. I'll wait until it is a necessity. I like being able to read without glasses and my good eye allows that. I cannot see close up at all now with the bad eye. On the plus side I was able to read the CC on the TV last night with my fixed eye and no glasses. So at this point I have one eye for distance and the other for close up. Thanks for all the well wishes.

To give Fede the benefit of the doubt, her explanation for Chofis attitude really is a plausible one. But I would have talked with Chofis first and got more specifics from her. Her mother is dropping the ball on this and she should tell Guzman the tutoring session needs to be done in a common area. That is just good parenting. Calling him to after 2 months of knowing him does not make him family. Also, most child abuse is done by a family member or good friend of the family.

After rejecting Guzman back in the day, I doubt Lichita and Guzman have spent much "bonding" time together in recent years. She doesn't know him now you're right and he is far from family.

The way I understood it, if Cécilia has a lotvof sketches of Nick and he's her favorite, than Art has to be the adopted one. I think this is what Ofelia will tell Rocio.
But I'm pretty suez now Nick is indeed the adopted child. We've had several clues about it, especially in the way Luis and Graciela sometimes talk about him.
And isn't it funny that he is the more repliable one... Nature vs. nurture indeed.

Thank you, Adriana, fantastic recap as always! I’m late to the party again but I enjoyed your recap on my break this morning between fires at work!

I guess I’m alone but Val doesn’t bother me much. She’s not a ray of sunshine but she’s Miss Congeniality compared to some of these characters!! Val is harsh with Ofelia but Ofelia is a lot and we’ve only known her for 40 episodes, I can’t say for sure whether or not she’s too tough on mom, maybe Ofelia deserves every bit of Val’s bitterness? Val is probably a little too hard on Art but she behaves well with Nic, she always treated Juan with the appropriate kindness. She’s shown to be kind to Amparo, she was appropriately warm and friendly with her model tutors. I don’t think she’s harsh with everyone, I think she has her edges and perhaps she’s too sensitive and too defensive but maybe she’s earned it? We don’t know everything about her background yet, but she lost her dad young and mom is clearly manipulative and controlling and definitely favored Mar…..who Val always remained close to despite that fact instead of becoming bitter or jealous. I have hope for Val, and I’d definitely hang with her over Cami, Susana, Ofelia, Paula, Prissy, Graciela…. The list goes on and on. She does remind me of that one friend who’s totally cool until a guy is involved though, bad with relationship stuff.

The one I think gets more and more unlikeable by the day is Graciela…. she was just plain ugly with Rocio! I get it, she wants her to stay away but she could have delivered that message with less venom and like someone said yesterday, she’s even painting Mar and Ofelia with the same brush now.

I agree that Rocio’s baby is likely Nic.
