PAPAS #40 Part 1

Previously, Tino gathers his wits about him and summons his courage telling Uli and Circe that “I am your father of the heart but I am not your biological father”. Circe and Uli, taken completely aback, stare at him and then each other…

Guzmán hands Aidé an envelope. She opens it and to her shock and dismay, it is a DNA test confirming that Tino is NOT the father of her children. Aidé looks as though she is about to hyperventilate.

Potent, bitter tea is spilling left and right.

Aidé stares at Guzmán uncomprehendingly and the more Guzmán talks, the angrier she gets. She stands up angrily accusing him of lying. (The patio wonders why on earth Tino did not share this earthshattering secret with Aidé first, let alone allowing Guzmán to do it. When Aidé marches upstairs where Tino is meeting with Circe and Uli, our incredulity is stretched to the max). Aidé confronts Tino who admits he is not the twins’ bio father.

Felipe tells Clara Luz her kisses are rapturous (he has beautiful eyes but I digress). They talk about children among other things. She stops their conversation to text Lichita as he stares adoringly. Meanwhile, Ana is sending flirty texts to Rudolf as he sits down with an ear-to-ear grin.

Circe is upset but Lila who bursts through the door is even more upset. We aren’t hermanos she cries out. Uli and Circe try to go to her but she pushes them away. Papás por conveniencia Uli says… Aidé demands an explanation from Tino. I love them he asserts. Aidé calls him mentirosa as there are flashbacks of them talking, Tino rushing Emi down the hospital corridor as a concerned Aidé watches, he with his children and hers, kissing her.

We finally see a flashback of what transpired at the fateful dance many years ago. Aan inebriated Aidé leads Tino up the staircase (everyone laughing below) as she continues to kiss him. She is wrapped around him when all of a sudden, she passes out. He gently sits her down and strokes her hair as she has her head on the desk passed out. Back in the present, Tino tells Aidé I love you; you are the love of my life. She takes her hand away and stares.

Lichita, Chano and Checo talk as they realize Chofis is not in her room. She texts them as Chano and Lichita have another argument. Chofis and Jeni meet three guys at the mall, the others leave Oliver and Chofis alone to talk; their attraction is palpable. Just after Oliver leaves, Lichita and Chano descend on the escalator, Lichita reaming her up and down. We are going home right now she says dragging her away.

Augusto and Bertha are out for a bite as he covers her hand with his. She then puts hers over his and they have a special moment. He talks about the loss of his family. They both smile and Bertha is crying happy tears. Later they stroll in the park.

Aidé is still struggling to comprehend what happened. Mi casa, mi hijos she tells Tino, trying to make sense of it all.

Emi tells sweet Scarlet he cares very much about her. Sourpuss Lila arrives to ruin the moment.

PAPAS #40 Part 2

Aidé and Tino are having a full-blown fight right in front of Guzmán her “hermano” (as my stomach roils). As expected, Aidé grabs her chest in pain as the children run in. Guzmán finally bids everyone goodbye (after he’s ruined their lives) when Clara Luz walk in immediately sensing she has arrived at a bad moment. She tries to uplift the kid’s spirits but they continue to look as though they lost their best friend as her antics fall totally flat. She takes Emi and Lila outside.

At home, Chofis tries to plead her case to her parents. Lichita demands Chofis hand over her phone. Lichita and Chano have at it again as Checo falls backward on the sofa hearing the same old, same old song.

Outside, Clara Luz starts singing and the kids follow suit with some cool moves.

Circe leads her mother away as Uli gets up and follows them leaving Tino standing there. Then Lila comes up, crying and very upset, she tells a heartbroken Tino to leave her alone. Bertha appears to comfort her son.

Circe and Uli hold their mother as Uli tries to say Tino is good man; Aidé and Circe hug each other.

Guzmán and Igor meet. I can’t understand what Igor said but Guzmán seemed to react violently.

Bertha and Aidé talk; Bertha tries to convince Aidé of Tino’s love for her. Aidé’s face crumples.

Circe and Lila cry and vent in their beds. “It’s horrible” Lila laments.

Tino tortures himself by looking at pictures of Aidé and the children. Aidé tells Tino he, the children and Bertha should leave. Tino tells her he loves her but nothing is getting through. He tilts his head in frustration.

Later he talks with Bertha, Lila and Emi about moving…Lila acts out.

Guzmán calls Aidé and she thanks him. There is a knock on her door and Tino comes in. He tells her his love for her and the children is real but her mind is made up. He ends up saying adios and leaving. She closes her eyes.

PAPAS #40 Part 3 of 3

Bertha says goodbye to Rina and they hug.

Guzmán is with Lichita and it seems he is on Chofis’ side. Lichita, who is obviously putty in his hands calls Chofis into the room. She asks her daughter for forgiveness and Chofis hugs her. Then to our horror, Chofis goes and hugs Guzmán!! He looks unhappy but Lichita (frustratingly) is all smiles.

Circe calls Fed…

Tino and his family say goodbye to Aidé as a heartbroken Scarlet is in tears. Tino wipes his eyes as she says goodbye to Emi. Brenda is also upset. Augusto comes out and takes their bags as Tino brushes Lila’s cheek. Tino says goodbye as Circe and Uli come in. He hugs them and kisses them and then goes over to Scarlet. Lila has a heart wrenching goodbye with Circe and Uli. They wheel their suitcases out as Tino gently says goodbye as the wooden door closes behind them. Circe and Uli look at each other…

A sad but seemingly inevitable episode. We are now halfway through.

Las hijas #44 part 1

I'll try to get this right. So Mar is a 1/5 inheritor of Luis estate and there also is an undisclosed amount of money put in trust, and Mar is the only one that will have the information.

Rocio is back,bin black, trying to see Arturo and Nick. The tall maid talks to her outside. She asks who should I say is calling? Rocio Lara, an old friend of Luis Portillo.

Leo blows up demanding to know how much money are we talking about? We are his children. She can't get more than us. Graciela tells him to calm down. Ofelia tells Leo if this was your dad's desire you have to respect his decision. Paula is like, how convenient. Leo and Graciela badger Mar. O stands up for her. Nick thinks the division is fine but the secret trust bothers him. Arturo asks her to explain. She looks at Mom in desperation, so O of course rises to the occasion and informs them that Mar is pregnant. They are having a little brother or sister. Cami calls her a golfa ( hooker, slut, had to look that one up ). O says my daughter deserves respect. Arturo and Nick ask Mar is this true. She says the truth is she is pregnant. Some more posturing by all. Juan looks like he has questions. Mar tells them all she cares about is her child's trust. She could care less about herself and leaves.

The maid is telling Roxio they aren't taking visitors. Rocio says I'm not a visitor. Val comes up to them. Rocio tries to get her to open the way for her, but Luis death is too fresh. Come back later. Rocio gives Val her number.

O is taking on the matriarch role at the head of the table. This was your father's wishes. The notario agrees with her point. Juan says, look you got what you were aiming for. O tells him to watch it, this is a family matter. Cami jumps to his defense, he is family, he's my husband. O says this is what your father wanted. Then she gets up to leave saying money does this to people, the ambition, as she leaves. The kids discuss it some more. The notario tells them this is what their father wanted, he was in full control of his faculties and his job is done, then leaves.

Mar runs into Val outside. Cami comes u and says how convenient for you getting pregnant by my dad and now you are acting the victim. Juan drags her away.

Val can't believe it. She also doesn't believe that Luis is the dad. She asks us he but Mar doesn't answer

Paula is stirring the flames. I think Nick says he is going to fix everything and leaves.

Mar tells Val she is pregnant and the father is dead(to her). Val can't believe it. O comes up and says you doubt your sister? From the Portillo family she believes their doubt, but from her own sister. Enjoy becoming an aunt. Val still thinks it's a lie. O says they didn't say anything because it is early and it's better to wait until after the third month to tell people.

Paula is sure the baby is not Luis'.

Susana is concerned for Cami losing both her parents so close together. Jacinto agrees, it's not fair, she is so young. Susana says she will need our help. Jacinto muses having money didn't save them from sadness. I think it's better not to have too much money.

Mar, Val and O enter the foyer. Val is still demanding Mar tell her the truth. Juan comes in and congratulates her on her pregnancy and getting everything she wanted. Cami , on his heels, says she will never recognize the baby as her sibling then tells Juan to come with her. Mar tells him to leave.

Paula and Leo are in their room. Leo is fuming. Paula is fanning the flames some more. She says the one she feels the worst for us the memory of Cecilia, her poor mother in law she alludes that maybe Luis had an affair with Mar before Cecilia passed. Leo can't believe that. He always admired his father. Paula says you are the better man than he was. She is scheming something but not I'm sure what. She is going to help him in his time of need.



 

Las hijas #44 part 2

In Mar's room now. Val is aggravating me. She keeps wanting to know the truth. How far along are you. Mar says I dunno. Val says we'll go to a Dr then. O says she's already been. Mar gets the ultrasound and gives it to Val. Val counts the weeks and says you are 3 months along. Mar says leave me in peace.

Nick is in dad's office. Graciela comes in. The pregnancy is the topic again. He doesn't understand his dad having a child at his age . Graciela reminds him dad would do anything for his children, including the one to be born. This is his wish. Nick agrees. She tells him he's the only one that can change his siblings feelings and they respect him ( well not Leo but maybe the other 2).

Paula sees Mar on the landing. She acts her friend. You need to take care of yourself. Strong feeling may cause you to lose your baby.

Val is yelling at Mom that this baby is not Luis'. O says if Mar says so, that is it. She can't believe it. O says she is going to be a mother and she is caring for her baby. Val thinks the lie will be discovered. I tells her to shut up and say nothing in this house. The baby is a Portillo and that's it. Val's like this is going to cause problems for me with Arturo. O rolls her eyes and begs her for once in her life keep her mouth shut and don't mess this up. (She should have told her that Mar and Luis had an agreement and he was protecting Mar and the baby, she may have agreed then).

Cami and Juan return to his home. Susana asks how are you. Bad, Cami retorts. Susana says sit down and I'll make you a camomile tea to calm you down. Cami blows up and says your stupid tea is not a solution and storms upstairs. Susana asks what's up. Juan tells her she's mad because part of Dad's inheritance goes to Mar and her soon to be babysitting. Susana is not surprised. Those types of women plan things like that so they can leave poverty.

Nick runs into Arturo in the garden. He wants to keep the family together. He needs his help. Arturo is convinced Mar is not having Luis baby. She and her mom, and likely Val planned this whole thing.

Ah, Paula brought Mar to the doctor for a check up. We see where this is going. The Dr agrees an ultrasound is in order. Mar goes to get ready. Paula bribes the doctor. Name your price. I need to know if it is my father in laws child.

Nick defends Val. Arturo asks how can you be so sure. Because she is different from her mother and sister. Nick tells him you have the opportunity to be happy, don't lose it

The Dr initially refuses to tell Paula without Mar's consent, but they seem to come to an agreement. Mar comes in wearing a gown saying she's ready ( no she isn't, she needs to drink about a quart of water beforehand).

Susana argues with Juan, badmouthing Mar. He blames Ofelia. Susana points out Cami is his wife now.

O is looking for Mar. The short maid tells her she went off somewhere with Paula .

Ultrasound is over. Paula looks at the photos and hands them to Mar. All looks fine per the Dr. Paula plays the living sister in law and gives the Dr a look over her shoulder.


 

Las hijas #44 part 3

Val approaches Nick and Arturo. Nick tells him I talked with Tia. She feels if this is what dad wanted we should respect his wishes. He leaves. Val asks Nick how he is doing. Badly. He can't believe she didn't know about her sister. She swears she knew nothing. He says this is too much for me and storms off ( yeah, Nick is way better imo than this hothead).

Paula and Mar return. Paula tells her don't say where we've been. O comes down the steps and demands to know where they were. For a drive Mar says. Val also comes in and says they were worried for her. O tells Paula to stay away from her daughter and pushes her from Mar's side. Mar says I'm going up to rest. Val follows her.

Susana and Cami have a heart to heart, tea included. Cami thinks Juan still loves Mar. Susana asks her do you live my son. Yes, totally. Then stay with him. He will respect his vows

Juan is at a street bar asking for a double tequila., and another. Barkeep asks you ok. No, I lost the love of my life .

O asks Mar again where were you. At the Dr to make sure all is well with the baby, if you don't believe call him. Val grabs her phone and says, look, she is telling the truth. She isn't a 5 year old. Let her rest, alone

Paula is now at the cemetery paying a groundsmen to dig up Luis. Perhaps she just wants a sample of his DNA. I'm not sure. She offers him a lot of money.

Nick asks how Val is doing. She is frustrated that Arturo doesn't want her around in his time of need. Nick sticks up for him. Give him time and space. They talk about love. Nick says love is only a dream for himself.

O talks to a sleeping Mar. She hopes her nieto never suffers from cold and hunger like they did.and for Mar never to suffer at the hands of a damn man who ruins all your happiness

Thanks Kat, wonderful to read your recap with my coffee this morning! I won't be able to watch until later tonight, but I have a couple mins to comment before running out the door to work.

Secret trust, and of course O has to open her bad fat mouth before she's asked!! She can't let Mar decide anything. She's going to make Mar look like a liar when the truth comes out because as you pointed out no one knows that Luis knew about the baby - not even Graciela I don't think, did she?

Mar is too naive!!! Why go to the doc with Paula?

Both Nic and Art have been around the family dynamic enough to see that Val didn't know about this. Val is living in a burned-out shell while mom and sis live in the mansion in what world do you actually think she's hand-in-hand scheming with them and up on every detail of everything that happens??? I know that there's grief/trauma and sometimes those emotions lie to you, but Art thinking Val is in league with some big lie is a stretch....

And of course, Susana has plenty of poison to share with Cami telling her how 'women like that' do.... I can't stand that woman! The actress is excellent though! I'm tired of these little easter eggs about O's past, either tell us what happened to her or shut up already! We get it, she has a traumatic past.

Every TN doctor has their price apparently and can be bought.

Mar is a sweetheart but after everything that transpired and knowing her baby is Juan's, why would she ever agree to go to the doctor's with Paula? Wouldn't it be natural that he reference how far along Mar is during the exam? She gives new meaning to the word gullible.

"Art thinking Val is in league with some big lie is a stretch...." is exactly right Darcy, just for the reasons you noted! Val knew this would mean trouble for her and Arturo and she was right. How disappointing.

Ofelia's timing is always off. It's time for what happened to her to be revealed, she has obviously suffered trauma which has made her the complicated, frustrating woman she is today.

I watched last night but found it very dark and depressing. I like Claudia and Arap and I'm sure Eduardo Santamaria will be chewing up the scenery soon (such a great villain). I don't think he's worked with his rl wife since Juan Q, but not sure.

Diana, I can do tonight, np. I watched last night's episode. I didn't notice anything that needed clarification. The one question you had I didn't remember the scene very well so I can't add to it.

Guzman definitely is a villain. I guess he could be the twins father. He seems the type. He probably wouldn't tell the truth because he is mad she doesn't remember the event so he wants to punish her. His resentment of her has to come from somewhere.

The one scene I would like explained, if someone else understood, is the conversation between Clara Luz and Felipe. The egg harvesting I think was mentioned and I got the impression Silvana encouraged Clara to also harvest some eggs but I'm not sure. It would give credence to Clara being Pipe's mother. I really think Felipe is a better match for her, and Rudolph was downright giddy with his texting conversation with Ana. They both can be happy with someone else, right?

Steve, it sure was odd seeing Lorena Graniewicz (Irene/Inez) and Arap Bethke (Joaquín/Lucas) together in a show so quickly. Of course, Salazar seems to have been filmed a couple of years ago.

I really enjoyed JUEGOS with Bethke playing prosecutor Roberto Roldán out to solve the crime! It was a bit of a different twist. It has only 70 episodes and too many familiar faces in the cast to mention. Always nice to have something extra to watch.

Anyone else watching?

I could not follow Felipe and Clara Luz' conversation at all so can't shed any light there. I definitely prefer her with Felipe...

Diana, yes! It is long overdue that we find out and Ofelia’s daughters find out the truth about how her parents and most likely their father mistreated her.

Mar is naive almost to the level of stupidity. Someone here said a while back that all she was expected to do was to be pretty and Mar told Luis sometime last week that this was all Ofelia ever put into her head. Good call.

Ofelia should have learned long ago that this mindset is a truly horrible thing to put in any woman's head. Beauty doesn't last forever.

Of course the dead body isn't that of Luis so within two episodes everyone will be freaking out and getting ready to tar and feather Mar when the DNA test comes back negative. Since Arturo has refused to believe that his father is dead that might make him demand another test to prove that, which will raise another round of chaos.

Rocio showing up when she did was beyond bad timing. She's waited all these years, a few more days should not matter.

Thanks Diana, great recap but a very sad and frustrating episode. One thing that stood out to me was Circe saying to her brother that at least Tino didn’t take advantage of their mother when she was not herself, (can’t remember if she said drunk or what), and that was why she resisted him at first, she thought he had taken advantage of her mother. I didn’t understand the egg thing either. Thought it might be TMI for someone you just started dating. Kat I agree with you, the new matches for Clara Luz and Rudolph do seem better. But I think they’ll end up together.

Guzman is evil. But Tino should have said at the beginning he wasn’t the twins dad but they could still help each other out with parenting. When Chofu’s hugged Guzman I decided that whole speech he made about her needing freedom to be with friends her age was just to make her grateful to him.

Thanks Kat, great detailed recap. How frustrating for so many! Arturo is being a spoiled brat, so sure Val is in on this. I hope this breaks them up, for good.
Then Mar going to the doctor with Paula. And digging up the grave seems a bit extreme. He just died, couldn’t she find a hairbrush of his in the house.

I’m guessing the truth will come out. Will Ofelia be able to maintain their position in the mansion! And will Juan ever suspect it’s his baby! He sure doesn’t right now. And I wonder if he will when the dna doesn’t match.

I can’t believe Ofelia pushed Paula. If Grace, who seems to have disappeared, ever returns everyone will believe her if she says Ofelia pushed her.

Can’t wait until tonight.

Wow, I never saw this coming !! So, who is the father of the twins? . I hope it isn't creepy Guzman . If he isnt the father , does he actually know who is ? He must have seen Tino leaving passed out Aide untouched .

Where are Tino and the kids and Bertha going to live? So sad to separate these kids just as they are getting close.

I am sure that Fed will be buzzing around Tino now. Ugh Susan

I completely agree with you; Tino should have told Aide the truth right away. What would have happened if a blood transfusion was needed among other things??

The entire show last night was indeed very sad and I don't see how this rift will be repaired easily or timely.

Mar and Juan may be meek and mild, but I prefer that to all the screaming mimis and schemers .

O and Paula,are in a tug of war over Mar for opposite reasons. O wants to protect her , and Paula knows how easily she can trick her into believing that will wants to help her. Ha ! Paula didn't waste a minute taking clueless Mar to the doctor and bribing him followed by a trip to the cemetery and more bribery .

I dont think that Luis told anyone about the baby that Mar is carrying and his plan to protect her and her baby.

It is interesting to see how much sass and pouting Susana will.put up with from poor little rich girl Cami .

Uh oh , mildmannered Juan is now hitting the bottle. Can't wait to his him return home drunk as a skunk whining for Mar and see the reactions from Cami and his parents .

On a bright note , we haven't seen Prissy in a while . Did the writers forget about her? I hope so. Susan

Paula is on a roll. Mar would do well to stay away from her. Bribes are only the beginning of what she is capable of. Cami needs to join Prissy in rehab (in Canada?)! All the people who stand to inherit are hell bent on breaking Lewis' will. So many TN themes already. I am waiting for Louis to appear from the woods with amnesia!

I had the same question about Karina. Thanks for answering it. So far I've seen at least half the actors before. This may make it easier for me to differentiate between them. I had hoped the daughter would have been Sam from Receta. She was such a a great young actress.

The older brother, Patricia, reminds me of ta red headed Facundo from Papa. I'll have to look him up.

I'll continue to give it a try. Reminds me of the cop shows my husband likes. If it were on earlier I might try to rope him into watching it with me. He is complaining he is novela widower.

I think Guzman followed Aide and Tino up the stairs. I don't think he is the father but he knows who is. I can only think it's Damasco unless it is someone we haven't met yet.

Hopefully, Tino will find a place for the family. A very unhappy and premature departure indeed. But again, Tino should have told Aide immediately so this is really his fault.

Papas #41 part 1

Well Tino found a nice place in their fall from the big house. He tells Lila she will have to change schools (again). She goads him asking when will he lie his way into another job. Emi is confused why Lila would say such a thing.

Scarlet doesn't understand either. Ponzi is back but now she's lost Emi, Tino, Lila and abuelita. Aide says they aren't lost, they just moved out. She says there were grown up problems. Scarlet cries more about it and aide says I'm the mom and this is the way it is now. Circe brings up the elephant in the room. Aide says if you are talking about the name change, I'll resolve it. I think Uli is fine with his name now, but they both want to know who their biological father is. Scarlet asks what does that mean.. aide says it's not the right time to talk about it as she gives a sideways glance at Scarlet

Guzman and Fede talk about the twins parentage. She also wonders if it is him. He says no, but whoever is practically abused her. Then he says he'll soon be head of the company, though Fede mentions some obstacles to that job.

Circe, alone with Mom at the breakfast table defends Tino. She lists all the good things he did for her and the family. Aide is shocked Circe is defending him. Circe says she has a change of heart and they were all happy finally. Aide ends the talk saying her siblings are waiting ( to get to school).

Clara luz shows up at Luchita's place. She needs a new place to live. Luchita offers her a room but Clara refuses I guess maybe she carpools with her. The kids get herded out the door and hey head out. Luchita asks how is aide. Clara will fill her in on the way.

Lila hasn't changed schools yet. Circe and Uli talk to her. They are siblings even if not by blood. Lila says you'll forget all about me within the year when I switch schools. They try to reason with her but she storms off.

Tino shows up at work. Two thugs are kinda shadowing him. Guzman threatens him and throws him out because he no longer works there. Tino says on whose orders. . The guys grab Tino.

Clara and Rudolph meet in the hall. Tino has to be there as this is the day they go online and he needs to be there. Igor ( or whatever his name is) comes up and says Tino is offline.

They hear Guzman and Tino arguing and rush to the area the two are surrounded by most of the employees. Guzman gives a speak about him being a liar and he is no longer welcome here
Tino still demands on whose authority . Guzman shoves him but no fighting occurs as the "bouncers" have control of Tino.

Rina talks to aide about the Guevera's leaving so quickly. Aide tells her Tino is no longer welcome there as he lied, he isn't the twins father. The other maid ushers in Danselo. He called the office and discovered she was home sick. He asks can he do anything for her as he gazes comfortingly from his blue eyes ( Circe and Uli's eyes perhaps?). She cries and he hugs her. He tells her breathe in and out...

Fede shows up at the fracas. Tino agrees to leave. Fede goes with him. She is the least appropriately dressed lawyer in the world. Black bra with a see through lace top today.

Danselo is counseling Aide. She needs to forgive Tino, but not take him back, for her spiritual health. Aide is upset she has no idea who she slept with or who the father of her babies is. He tells her not to dwell on that now. he has to leave now but he's there for her if she needs him. Namaste.

Now it's Augusto's turn to give side advice. He tells her running away or hiding from her problems is not the answer.

Lila is spinning a yarn to some classmates that she is going to a new school in London, it's always been her dream. Circe calls her over. She reminds Lila that she promised to help her find her mother. Lila hasn't had time to follow up on social media. Lila needs a mother now in her life. She can't believe her father pretended they were siblings or that mom was dead.
 

Papas #41:part 2

Aide makes it to work. I think Guzman tells her Tino left. She reminds him that maximax was Tino's idea. He claims to have proof that Tino is a thief and liar. Fede knocks on the door. Aide asks what are you doing here

Clara luz Rudolph and Tino meet for lunch. He's worried about the twins and aide. Clara Luz is upset with him for telling Aide lies about the twins. Rudolph says something like it's water under the bridge now, what's done is done. Clara Luz and Rudolph snipe at each other. Clara luz is pissed so she leaves the guys to their talk. Rudolph i think says should he quit also? Tino says no way, I need you to unmask Guzman. She needs to know she has a Judas at her side.

Fede tells Aide you have terrible instincts about men. She takes Facundo's word that they are lovers without even trying to talk to her. She adores her cousins, etc . She says I was stupid for not telling you your ex hit on me. Aide isn't buying her story. She is fired, shell get a severance package, but she is out of the business. Fede can't believe it.

Fede is quite pleased with herself. She thinks now she will get Tino. Chano asks her what's in today's agenda. She wants to know everything about what happened with Tino. I guess he wasn't around to hear Tino is not the father because Fede tells him and he's surprised.

Linda and Chofis are walking home from school. Linda thought she lost phone privileges. Chofis says she got the phone back but they turned on family location so they know where she is at all times. She's to go to school and home only except tutoring with guzman.i think Linda talks about a party going on. Chofis will ask if she can go. Guzman told mom to give her more freedom.

Aide has a staff meeting. Tino no longer works here due to things he did. Guzman will assume his position with Lichita as his assistant. Clara luz and Rudolph remain on the team. It's now officially online. Rudolph shows her the website.

Aide is in her office scrolling through pictures of her and Tino. She sends him a text saying they need to talk.

Fede shows up at Tino's new digs. She's glad he sent her the directions, it's far away. She asks how can I help you. He wants her help in outing Guzman. He wants to clear his name in the company and with aide. He says he discovered a USB that implicates Guzman. She asks where is it. He says it got lost at the Checo kidnapping. Fede recalls Circe with the USB and Igor grabbing it. She will get it back. She believes in him ( so I guess that means he made no copies, how stupid)

Guzman is talking up maximax, it's got music, videos, Telenovelas etc. Chofis mentions is a few days there will be a tardeada ( no idea what this is) probably the party Linda was talking about. She can talk up the new platform. Luchita is like no way can you go, but good old Guzman says wait. She deserves a reward for doing better in school. But she needs to follow the rules. Luchita says you know your dad would never allow it. But Guzman has a solution for that, don't tell him.

Fede comforts Tino with a hug. He's sad about missing the kids. So is she. She says you are a good man I don't understand why Aide fired you. He says I committed an error and now I'm paying for it. She thinks he also deserves a severance package as the new platform was his idea. He says no. I'll find a new job. Emi wheels in and tries to beat a hasty retreat when he sees Fede. Too late. She's all over him with her sickly sweet baby talk. Tino asks Fede to stay with Emilio while he fetches mom and Lila. Poor Emi.

The 4 amigos discuss Tino and maximax over coffee. Igor breaks it up. Back to work. The girls leave Rudolph tells Chano the problems in the company were done by Guzman.

That's why he wanted to claim the twins. They are whole, not like you ( is there a special hell for her?) don't you say a word no thanks to you now I'm closer to your dad.

Tino and Felipe are discussing business. Are they going to set up a competing platform?

When Guzman pawed Chofis (again) she seemed to stiffen almost imperceptibly. Sadly, she dismissed her initial instinct, that something is very off, now naïvely believing Guzman is championing her cause with Lichita solely due to some altruistic motive. His urging her not to tell Chano was wrong and Lichita should have stepped in but didn’t.

I appreciate your translating Fed’s conversation with Emi. She is horrid and does merit a special place in hell as you suggested. The poor kid is terrified evidenced by him throwing the silverware in front of his father whom he adores.

I can’t believe Guzman pulled El Calacas out of thin air.

In her Frederick’s of Hollywood, Fed was practically salivating over Tino. Is the man blind??

“He asks can he do anything for her as he gazes comfortingly from his blue eyes (Circe and Uli's eyes perhaps?)” was as shrewd observation. My money is definitely on Damaso.

Part 1/3

Juan gets home drunk. He tells Jacinto about Mar’s pregnancy. Oh, how he loved her…He wants her back. Jacinto says it’s too late, but Juan keeps whining.
Then he goes upstairs, but he’s so drunk, he wakes up Camila, who tries to help him undress. He keeps saying Mar’s name, which Camila must find very sexy, because she starts kissing him, while saying she will help him forget about Mar. They start making out… and more.

Mar is sleeping and having a nightmare about Juan (must be her intuition). She keeps saying his name and Ofelia, who is in the room with her listens and wakes her up. Be careful, Mar, nobody can hear you. Forget that man. But Mar can’t, hasn’t mom ever loved someone? Ofelia says love is only an illusion that ruins everything.

Paula tells Leo she will prove Mar’s baby is not his father’s. Just trust her.

Val tries to talk to Art about what is going on, but he’s in a bad mood. He’s screaming, ever since Ofelia arrived at the house, they’ve only had problems. How did Ofelia get the job? How did Mar marry Luis? How did Val manage to insert herself into his mind?
Val asks if he’s accusing them of planning everything. He says he’s confused. Val believes he has been lying about knowing her. How stupid of her to trust him when he’s doubting her.

On her way home, Val runs into Amparo and tells her she is very concerned for her sister, who is pregnant. Apparently, the baby is her husband’s…Amparo says a baby is a blessing, but Val can only see problems in front of them. She’s even losing Arturo over this, the only man she’s ever fallen in love with. They hug.

Nick and Graciela talk about Luis. Nick says dad used to be such a rational man, not a gullible fool. How did he fall for Mar, they have nothing in common? Graciela mentions the talk she had with her brother, when Luis told her he was doing everything for his kids’ sake. Nick still can’t understand, the only thing he can do is get close to Mar and get to know her. Maybe this way he will find some answers.

The next morning Amparo brings Val some breakfast. Val doesn’t know what to do anymore, fight for Arturo’s love or give up? Amparo asks her to listen to her heart. Well, Val’s heart tells her she loves Art so much.

Arturo wakes up and checks Val’s picture on his phone. He calls her, but she won’t answer, she’d rather talk to him face to face. There are so many things that are against them. Amparo says they should only think about the two of them and forget about the rest.

Part 2/3

Ofelia sees an article about Luis Portilla’s new baby. Apparently there is some doubt about paternity. She gets rattled. She goes to confront Nick about the article, but he has no clue about it. She accuses him of wanting to rob Mar of her inheritance, but she won’t allow it.
Then Ofelia runs to wake up Mar and show her the article. The Portillas are so vicious, how could they go to the press? Did she tell anything to Paula? Mar says no, she’s not that stupid. What will she do now? Fight, Ofelia says, her baby is Luis’ and that is the only truth. She will take care of everything. Mar wonders if she should tell Juan the truth. What? No way, that man is married, he needs to stay in the past. Think about your baby. Mar agrees, her baby is the most important thing.

Camila wakes Juan up with a kiss. She is all loving and happy, he has a huge hangover. He apologizes for being so drunk, but she understands, they both had some bad news the other day. But all in all, she’s happy because he was so great to her. Maybe all this heartache will help them get close and together they can forget the past. They will be happy together. Juan is definitely not as convinced, but he doesn’t say no to another kiss.

Paula has told Leo about going to the cemetery because he’s now afraid the man who helped her will talk. But she keeps saying she did the right thing. He’s afraid about the crime she committed, he doesn’t think Mar would steal everything from them, she’s just a child. Yeah, what about Ofelia, Paula asks. He has such a great heart, always seeing the good in people, but Ofelia is the worst.

Art tells Nick he’s an idiot, he made a mistake with Val. She will never want to be with him again. What did you do now, Nick asks. You two are in love. Art says he never should have doubted her. Nick says things will only get worse because the press is doubting the baby’s paternity. Art is upset, this will cause him even more problems with Val. Nick points out Ofelia is the one to fear, she already confronted him over the whole thing. Art runs to talk to Val.

Paula gets the results of the DNA test. Oh, she knew it, that baby is not a Portilla. How could Mar lie to Luis like this? Leo wants to confront her, but Paula says they need to be intelligent about it, tell his siblings first.

Camila still clings to Juan, she believes this could be the beginning of something amazing between them. But Juan is not so sure. They get interrupted by Leo calling Camila to tell her to come by the house, they need to talk.
Arturo is about to go see Val, when Leo tells him they need to talk first. And maybe when they’re done talking, he won’t even care about seeing Val ever again. They need to wait for the rest of the family.

Part 3/3

Nick talks to Mar about the article. She thinks they were behind it, but he swears they weren’t. They never got the chance to know one another, but she has a baby on the way and he wants to get closer to her, learn to trust her. Mar agrees. She starts talking about Luis and how he only wanted to help her feel less alone. They are interrupted by Ofelia, who once again screams about the article and asks Nick to stay away from her daughter. When Nick leaves, Ofelia warns Mar that she should not trust him, it’s a trap. But Mar can’t doubt everyone, she felt that Nick was sincere. Ofelia reminds Mar of the hotel altercation with Val, the guy is not to be trusted.

Juan drops Camilla off, but he doesn’t want to go inside. This is a family matter. Camila says he is family, but he doesn’t want to see Mar or the Portilla.

Val has arrived at the mansion and sees the article, also. Ofelia keeps screaming about Mar’s rights. The baby is Luis’. Mar says nothing.

When the entire family is reunited in the living room, Leo tells them he has proof Mar’s baby is not their father’s. DNA proof. Nick asks for details and is shocked to hear they opened their father’s tomb. Leo says they had to, if not that woman would have made fools out of them.
Camila is very vocal about her disgust, Graciela calls Mar to talk. Ofelia and Val follow.

Once they are all together, Camila starts to scream at Mar, Nick stops her, but Ofelia also intervenes and slaps Camila (while Paula enjoys the show).
Leo says they know the baby is not their father’s, so they won’t allow Mar to get any of the money. Then he shows the DNA results. This shuts up Ofelia (finally!).
Val is shocked, but Mar storms out, so she follows her.
When Ofelia also leaves, Camila is again screaming about the need to throw Mar out. Nick asks her to stop, they need to think about it first, but Camila reminds him he threw her out because she got married. Mar needs to be punished for her lie, also. Graciela agrees. Paula wonders who is the baby daddy, wasn’t Mar Juan’s novia until recently? Hahaha, this should shut Camila up for a second.

The gossips from the vecindad have seen the article about the paternity. They show it to Susana, could Juan be the real father? No way, Juan is a married man.

In the room, Val asks Mar to confide in her. Did she get the night she and Juan ran away? Is Juan the father? Is she lying to everybody? Ofelia asks Val to leave Mar alone and just go away, but Val wants to talk to her sister. She needs to stop listening to their mother, she is only making things worse. Ofelia accuses Val of being on the Portilla’s side. Eventually Mar finds her voice to say that Luis is the baby daddy.

Graciela only cares about these women lying, they need to go away.
Camila storms out, Paula fake apologizes for hurting her with the insinuation she made about Juan being the baby daddy. Nick thinks they should talk to the lawyer about overturning the will, Leo is sure they will win their case. Art, who hasn’t said a word until now, only says he’s shocked with all the lying. He obviously thinks Val has been lying, too.

Kat, thank you for Monday's recap. I didn't get to watch the episode, so your recap helped me understand whay was going on during my episode.
Wow, things are spiralling really fast for Mar.
And Art is very quick to judge Val. It's exactly as I suspected, he's the kind of guy who is great when things are good, but as soon as the going gets tough, he doubts Val again.
I agree that Paula digging out the body is completely ludicrous, she shoudl have just grabbed Luis' toothbrush, it woudl have made things much more believable. How did she get enough DNA from a body that was beyond recognition anyway? Did she swab the cheeks, CSI style? So ridiculous.

Imagine what life could be like for Mar if O would just shut up??? Sigh…. It’s creepy how possessive she is of Mar and her actions are not helping. Maybe if Nic really got to know Mar he would be an ally.

Either way you gotta wonder what comes out next that the body in the casket isn’t Luis or that Luis knew the baby wasn’t his. I wonder if it’s in the legal documents somewhere, like in the trust? Or if the lawyer knew? So it can be proven that Mar didn’t lie to Luis.

The gruesome lengths Paula went to, to prove her point were "ludicrous" as you noted. What a vicious shrew.

Mar is now completely vulnerable; I am dreading Cami's almost certain physical and mental assault. Unless Luis confided in his lawyer or put truth to paper (as you noted Darcy) there is nothing to back Mar up.

Luis needs to reappear and do so quickly.

I have to say (quite unkindly) that I had a small shiver of satisfaction when the locals ganged up on Susana, gleefully spiteful that Juan is the father. A tiny but satisfying bit of payback for someone lacking heart and conscience.

Art was so disappointing, but Nico is no prize either. I vote both off the island.

Jarifa, that was great. Glad my recap set the stage for tonight's episode. In my episode the Dr did not get a blood sample from Mar, but I guess it could have been ordered. She should have a bandaid on her arm if they did one though. I also wonder, do the tests determine a babies DNA from the mother's blood? So many questions. I was surprised doubting Thomas (Arturo) didn't think maybe the man in the tomb wasn't actually daddy! But if course it is better to keep the story going that Mar is not having dad's baby so they can kick the Garcia's out.

What a bunch of greedy kids. Money does that to people haven't you noticed. So far the expected rage from Leo about not being named president hasn't surfaced. I'm sure that is coming. But perhaps Luis will arise from the dead before that happens.

Are we sure Cami and Juan did the deed? She was still wearing her nightshirt the next morning. Maybe he was too drunk.

Too bad Luis couldn't come back ASAP and make Mar a rich woman so she could move away from her sorry family and his. He is/was her only ally.

Judyb used to call these crazy novelas morality plays in which the bad are eventually punished and the good receive their HEAs.

What I really love about these storylines are the wonderful recaps , often full of the recappers' insights and thoughts and the comments that they spark which are full of analysis . We are actually studying the human condition and the reasons people do the things they do and act the way they act. Susan

Thanks Lat, that was a great recap. The factor that Guzmán brought Aide to see Calacas has me wondering If those two are working together.

Tino is blind in more ways than Fed coming on to him. He never notices Emi’s face when Fed shows up. It’s a look of pure terror sometimes. I do wonder if she’ll help find the USB. I guess it wouldn’t be to her advantage.

I’m glad the kids seem to realize they were happy when they were all together. Maybe that will push Aide to let them move back in. But i was impressed with the furnished house Tino got. They leave one house with their suitcases and suddenly are living confortably.

I think Danselo is the real dad of the twins. I can’t see the writers bringing in another new character to be the dad. Which makes me think we must know Uli’s abusen too.

Thank you Adriana. The writers leave out much about Luis' "passing" . Amused by Paula's taking on the role of an 'Inspector Cleuseau (sp?)'. Just one grave digger to dig it up the and open that huge casket with Paula getting a sample for a DNA sample (?) requires Viewerville to don more than just an ordinary beanie. But let's give the writers a pass. Let's hope Luis is alive and shows up with all of his mental faculties intact to tell the kids that his will stands and part of the estate goes to Mar's yet to be born child. Paula is not beyond murdering Mar. I think Arturo has lost Valeria and hope that Nico wins her. Face it: there are no perfect couple matches in this TN.

Thanks Adriana, I enjoyed your recap, maybe more than the show! I wish Juan had been there when Paula mentioned him as the probable father. I don’t think he’ll figure it out for himself! And Susana is in big time denial. That would have been my first thought-hey, that’s my grandbaby! I wonder what Camila will tell Juan, without telling him the whole truth.

Leo just goes along with Paula and lets her get away with digging up the grave. And Camila looked ready to beat up Mar and throw her out. Luis should have told someone the truth, but I bet he didn’t. He has a bad heart so death could have happened naturally.

I like Nick the best. He is more the voice of reason. Arturo was a real jerk and I think he’ll get worse. Leo is barely worth mentioning. He’s only there to do Paula’s bidding. She enjoys inflicting pain on the family.

I hope Mar has the guts to keep insisting it’s Luis’ baby.

I think Juan and Cami did “it”. I wonder if it was their first time. Hope she doesn’t end up pregnant.

2 episodes in and I think I'm hooked. I really like the actors in this one, especially Enrique (Eduardo Santamarina). Will he be a total villain or just a desperate politician hoping to salvage his political future and protect his son.). Perhaps he is also involved in the framing of Luciana's father.

Should I give a rundown or will it spoil the plot for those waiting to watch it? I'm surprised the story moved so quickly in the discovery of the car that hit the young men. Alex will be the weak link. I truly feel the accident was just that. The guys were walking along a dark road at 4 a.m. or so in dark clothes. The least they should have done is jumped into the verge when the headlights came in sight. Yes Adrian was speeding, but headlights and car engines should have alerted them. Now if Adrian had run off the road and hit them it was unavoidable. Of course his memory was right, cousin would have been thrown in jail if they called an ambulance as he was drunk and did drugs. I totally expected them to involve Alex and have her claim to be the designated driver, though she may have ingested a pill in the kiss she and Adrian shared at the nightclub.

So far the introduction of characters and length of scenes is helping. And Rgv Chick, your character list with photos is sublime! What a treat. One question I have is you list Omar as Elena's ex. Is that true early on or is it going to happen . It seemed when she was worried about the boys not answering their phones that they are a current couple.

Anyone else wonder if Roberto and Karina daughter is actually his niece and his sister died in childbirth given the flashback scene he had with his sister ? I actually have a question about that. Was he going to be one a lawyer and circumstances changed his mind to become a detective? Initially I thought he ran out of money to study with a baby on the way, then realized it was his sister he was building the crib for. I'm sure time will tell.

Luis is as sly as a fox, so I think he confided in his lawyer. That is probably why he couldn't leave the mansion fast enough after the reading of the will. I just hope there are security cameras in the house to catch all that's going on.

Yes, there is a DNA test that can use a pregnant woman's blood to get DNA on the foetus. This test was used to find evidence in an episode of Law & Order SVU called "Competence". This was in 2002. I think it required 3 months' gestation at the time and that is where Mar is now.

I think Juan and Camila did the deed so we'll know soon enough if she also ends up knocked up.

There are 82 episodes total, so we've just passed the middle.

UA, thanks for educating me about the blood test DNA typing, also for jogging my memory on Law and Order. That's the show name I was trying to recall that I thought Juegos might be similar to. I think I read they plan to add side stories to the main plot.

I think there's a good chance that something in the trust spells out that the baby isn't Luis's. The reading of the will said that the amount was for Mar's eye's only - but why keep only the dollar amount secret? I'm thinking the terms of the trust itself spell out the paternity of the baby and thus all the details of it are only for Mar's eyes.
 

PAPAS #42 Part 1

Previously: No need to fret as to where Tino and the children landed: they are already ensconced in a very nice, furnished home/apartment.

Guzmán exiles Tino from Maxiclick/Maximax, two burly bald men threaten menacingly. Aidé announces Guzmán will assume Tino’s responsibilities.

Dámaso appears to soothe Aidé. Guzmán continues his nefarious plan against Chofis.

In the hospital, Guzmán wants El Calacas to tell a rather frightened looking Aidé the ”truth” about Tino.

Quick shots of Tino and Aidé, then Igor (with gloves) likely doing something nefarious and then Guzmán.

Let’s just say El Calacas does not give Tino a good character reference. Aidé looks at him, turning to leave but Guzmán stops her. El Calacas, lying through his nasty teeth, says Tino is treacherous and was an accomplice. Aidé still looks suspicious. El Calacas goes on and at one point, she flashes back to a discussion she and Tino had which seems to mean something; he also brings up Checo and later, Chintolo. Finally Aidé has heard enough and leaves. As the door shuts behind her, El Calacas rips out his IV and starts to stand up but is stopped by Guzmán saying no.

Emi is trying to talk to a suffering Tino as to why Circe and Uli are not his hermanos. The poor child holds his hurt chest and lashes out. Later, Lila piles on the guilt talking about Paulina. Tino tries to hug Emi but he won’t have it; Tino’s face mirrors his anguish.

Clara Luz is having a coffee table candlelight meal with Felipe; she tells him her house is his house. She brings up Pipe and as she talks, he interrupts and asks her to be his novia. Yes she smiles delightedly, kissing him. In the only comic relief of the night, we see Rudolf at the very end of the one song he seems to know, bombing (again) onstage, one of the audience members booing loudly. He gets a text which I didn’t see. The few audience members are all giving him a hard time; he texts Ana.

Aidé is arm in arm with Guzmán as he tells her Tino is going to be investigated (not sure if this is right). Aidé voices her hesitation over El Calacas but Guzmán holds onto the charges against Tino like a dog with a bone. She stares.

Lila and Emi argue about Tino and Paulina.

Bertha and an almost in tears Tino talk including how miserable Guzmán is.

PAPAS #42 Part 2

El Calacas and Guzmán finish up their bizness as a big fat envelope of cash changes sweaty hands.

Tino kisses Lila’s forehead as she enters school. “Papa” Circe effuses as she and Uli show up. They hug and briefly talk, Tino mentioning Mateo. He asks Uli if he is OK and he tells Tino he is. There is a pervasive sadness during their conversation. You are not of my blood, but you are of my heart Tino tells them.

Guzmán is still snowing Aidé, poisoning her mind about Tino and Maximax.

Rudolf texts Tino when he looks and sees Clara Luz kissing Felipe. He goes to confront her. Felipe and I are novios she says inches from his face; she moves her hand saying “novios” again as if she is spelling it out.

Tino is again barred from entering Maxiclick. Tino tries to text Aidé but Guzmán tells her not to admit him. Igor comes in and Guzmán hurries out after him. She starts to text Tino but he then calls her, begging her; she bites her lip unsure of that to do.

Felipe talks with Guzmán about Clara Luz. Guzmán brings up Silvana.

Rudolf is arguing with Clara Luz; she tells him to respect her novio. I am happy she tells him OK? Rudolf shrugs his shoulders pretending not to care and then texts Anita.

Tino starts to leave when Aidé comes after him. I am not a criminal he protests, very upset. She gets angry, he is not the father of her children. She brings up Guzmán and he loses it. (Does she say something about him going to jail??) The argument is escalating quickly; both have lost their tempers.

Igor gives Fed his usual attitude as she hands him a folder. She then meets with Guzmán. She seems to deny knowing El Calacas.

Felipe and Rudolf get hot in the hall. As they talk Felipe calls Clara Luz “Clarita” (which is kind of cute). They are squaring off when Clara Luz appears.

Tino calls Guzmán an imbecile but Aidé cannot get past the fact Tino lied to her.

PAPAS #42 Part 3 of 3

Checo and Chofis are walking down the street and run into Oliver. The young men introduce themselves (Checo is surprisingly nice) and then steps away for a moment. Oliver stares at her and then comes in for a gentle kiss. Checo then comes back saying they need to go home.

Tino texts Circe and Uli, encouraging them, including Scarlet in his good wishes.

Aidé comes in to a cold reception from her children. Then an ill wind brings Facundo in, asking about Scarlet. Circe spills the beans Tino is not their biological father. Aidé starts in but he says he loves Scarlet. He puts his hands up and stalks off. Children Aidé says as she tries to explain about Tino. I believe she tells them she doesn’t want them to see him (?)

Rudolf and Chano strategize about Tino and Guzmán. Rudolf seems a bit frustrated with Chano.

Chofis mimics Lichita as she lectures her in unison, they both laugh. Jeni comes over and as Lichita leaves the girls squeal with excitement. They are planning and conniving.

At school, Uli is among the children on a stage going through the wardrobe. Uli starts to hyperventilate recalling the masked man who attacked him. Gina sees him shaking and runs over…

Chano arrives home unexpectedly looking shocked at Chofis’ very tight, revealing and far too short blue ruched dress. He kicks Jeni out…

As Aidé and Guzmán talk, her phone rings and she answers it thinking it’s Uli. It isn’t – it’s Tino. He tells her Emi has had a crisis and is in the hospital (we see Emi in a bed behind him). Guzmán tries to stop her but she leaves. Igor then removes a pair of gloves and says something about fraud.

Circe and Lila talk on the phone about Paulina.

Somewhere in Seattle, we see a man (Ernesto Laguardia) looking at something akin to Paulina’s Facebook page. Next we hear “honey I’m here”. All of a sudden, Paulina strides into view. I’m not quite sure what he says but it seems clear Lila’s message/post has made it there. He confronts her…

Again, the dialogue was far above me. I had to do some guessing as well as be vague when I couldn’t fill in what was said/occurred. Kindly fill in and or correct. Your help is always greatly appreciated.

Igor is opening a new account in Tino's name and deposits money in it from the sale if his shares to Guzman. (The transfer papers Tino signed were false as we expected).

The text to Rudolph is from the guy who wants to restart his career I think.

I think Guzman is telling Aide that Tino is being investigated within the company and soon they will have proof of his wrongdoings .

Felipe is trying to pump Guzman for information about Pipe but not having any luck. He noticed the home seemed to be a family home and wonders about it's former owners.

I was a bit lost on the Guzman Fede conversation also, but Guzman definitely seems to be blackmailing her about something.

Good for Felipe for trying to extract info on Pipe from Guzman. Unfortunately, Guzman is too smart to give that info so freely.

I wondered if the man was Paulina's significant other or husband, and you answered that. Looks like many secrets were kept from her hubby.

The recap will be up in a couple of hours. I haven't watched the show yet, so I don't know what has happened, but I wanted to reply to some of yesterday's comments (I'm sorry I'm late, but I got home after midnight and I was very sleepy).
I definitely think Camila and Juan did the nasty. Seeing her face the next day, I also believe it was their first time. I would have thought that someone as high class as Camila (eye roll) would have sent Juan to the couch seeing his drunken state, but apparently that was a turn on for her.
Seeing how she was already determined to be a couple, and Juan not so much, I think we could say he threw her a bone (what I want to write is boner, but I'm a lady, so I won't...oh, wait!)
It will be very interesting to see how she keeps accusing Mar of lying to them while at the same time never facing the huge elephant in the room - that Juan might be the father. As someone else pointed out, it's not like Juan is able to connect the dots himslef, poor soul (hilarious and true).

Jarifa, your "Poor Mar: a mermaid in a sea of sharks! and her name is"Mar" won the Internet. So clever! Kudos!
 

Las hijas, capitulo 46
Part 1/3

Camila keeps calling for Mar. She starts fighting with Ofelia, they almost get physical. She asks the guards to throw the Garcias out. Ofelia threatens to go to the press. Camila calls the baby a bastard and starts grabbing Mar. Nicolas can barely retain her (he is the only one in the family who actually steps in at this time, everyone else is just looking). Ofelia interferes, too, it’s a screaming fest and I gotta say I love the drama.
At the same time the maids are coming out of the room with big bags of trash (I assume Mar’s things).
Camila keeps going after Mar physically (she is so vicious) and eventually manages to grab her so hard that she pushes her to the floor. Ofelia steps in to slap her, calling her an animal and reminding her Mar is pregnant. Nick manages to stop the slap (sadly). Val helps Mar stand, and Arturo only says they don’t want any more problems. Val wants to leave, but Ofelia insists they won’t.
Val and Mar do go, Arturo briefly stops Val, but she pushes him away, asking him not to touch her.
Ofelia goes back into the room, asking the servants not to touch Mar’s things. Graciela asks her to stop screaming and they get into it over Mar’s rights to the house. Ofelia threatens to reveal their secret, she knows a lot about the Portillas. They don’t want her as an enemy. When she mentions Rocio, Graciela gets mad, only Luis could confirm this. Camila shows up, says that just as she left empty handed, so will Mar. All of Mar’s things were bought by her dad.
Ofelia says they will be sorry, but she leaves.

Outside the house, Val thinks this is the best moment to scold Mar. How could she allow things to go so far? She wants to go back to their house, even as Mar points out that house belongs to the Portillas also. Val says they are paying it back little by little and she has been fixing it. Mar doesn’t think that would be the best place for her baby, but Val points out she can’t stay where she is not welcome. Mar still doesn’t want to go, Val insists, she never has to go back to this nasty house. She practically drags Mar away.

Susana gets home and checks her calendar, wondering when did Mar and Juan escape. Could it be? Juan arrives and she asks about Camila, who is at her home. Susana thinks he should be with her, but Juan says it was not the right time. As soon as he leaves, she goes back to counting days.

Arturo is mad, how could things get so out of hand. Nick is not happy, either, the only thing that he can be sure of is that Val didn’t have anything to do with it. Art is not as convinced, his feelings for her are very strong, what if she’s lying to him? Nick says that if he doubts this way, maybe she’s not the woman for him. Art is sure that with everything that has happened, they are over.

Juan comes back for Camila and runs into Paula. She updates him on everything that has been happening. Mar and her family are out because Mar’s baby is not Luis’… Could the baby be Juan’s? Hahaha, I actually love Paula in this scene.
Juan doesn’t get to react to much, because Camila arrives, all cheerful, telling him that she finally managed to get rid of Mar. How did she do that? Well, they found out she has been lying about the paternity of her baby.
Juan storms out in search of Mar. Hahahaha!
Paula tells Camila not to chase after him, have some dignity. Oh, this is too good.
Camila, ever the bully, shoves Paula, Leo steps in to ask her to stop. Paula says she’s only protecting her, Camila doesn’t believe it, she calls her a hypocrite.

Part 2/3

The Garcias are back at their house. Val offers the only bed to Mar and she and mom can sleep on the floor. Ofelia won’t hear of it, she’s now used to sleeping in silky sheets and whatnot. Mar can’t believe they’d fight in a moment like this. The poor girl leaves, allowing the other two to continue their tiring exchange.
Ofelia promises she’s not done with the Portillas, she knows things about them. Val says her mansion dreams are over. But Ofelia has other plans, she wants to use Val now. Val is shocked, how can she speak like this. Ofelia insists she has the life of the baby in her hands, Luis left him money. And the Portillas are not innocent either. One of the boys is not Cecilia’s son. Val can’t believe her mother would lie about something like this. Ofelia speaks about Rocio and decides she will use this secret against that family.
Val wants her to forget about them, they are done. As if Ofelia would ever listen to her.

Mar is outside, talking to the virgen, wondering what to do now that Luis is gone. She needs a miracle, not for her, but for her baby.
Enter Juan, he goes straight to Mar, touches her bely and asks if her baby is his also. Good boy. He grabs her waist, asks the question again, touches her face and begs her to answer. She almost gets the feels, but then she sees his wedding ring and pushes his hand away. Don’t touch me ever again, she demands.
Juan insists he wants to know the truth, but Camila arrives to continue her screaming fest against Mar and Juan. Mar leaves, followed by Juan and then Camila, who needs to scream at some vecindad women, too.

At home, Graciela remembers Ofelia’s threats. She is worried about being able to keep the secret now that Luis is gone.

Mar is back in the house, feeling lost. Val promises to always be with her, she only wants her happiness. There is a knock at the door, Juan who insists they need to talk. But Mar goes to the room and Val stops Juan from following her. They speak outside, she asks him to respect her sister’s decision. Juan wants to know if the baby is his, what does Val know?
Val says he’s married, he should respect his wife. They’ve hurt each other a lot, they need to stop. He needs to leave and not come back.
Camila has been watching from afar, and leaves before Juan can start calling for Mar. He only does it once, and then he also goes away.

Ofelia runs into some women from the vecindad, who mock her for being back.

Leo tells the family he spoke to Hector about attacking the will, they can’t allow Mar to get any of their money. Nick doesn’t look happy.

Susana is listening behind his son’s closed door, she’s worried. Jacinto says they don’t need to interfere, but she is worried about their son’s marriage. Things were easier when he was younger. No kidding! Jacinto says they need to trust that they raised him well and things will get better.

Ofelia is mourning her life at the mansion. Back in her old room, says she won’t accept this as her reality. Maldita pobresa. No no no! This won’t be her grandson’s life. No matter what it will cost her.

Camila is trying to play nice with Juan, but he thinks it would be better to finish with their relationship. It’s not as if it was real, anyway. Camila doesn’t agree, they are finally getting closer. But Juan is thinking about Mar’s baby, who could be his. Camila thinks he is blinded, Mar used her father and Juan, maybe some other guy also. And she clings to him, begging him not to leave.

Arturo grabs his tablet to check out some of Val’s photos. He reminisces about some of their past moments and he gets teary eyed.
Val is no better, she is also remembering past moments and wonders how she will ever forget him.

Part 3/3

The next day… Ofelia found some of her old clothes. She tells Val she’s going out but doesn’t want to say where. She won’t give up on the money Luis left Mar in his will.

Leo and Nick talk at the breakfast table about their bad night of sleep. Nick has doubts about going against the will, he’s not sure their father would have agreed. Leo is sure Mar lied to him, too, but Nick thinks they don’t know all the circumstances. Leo doesn’t care.

Val wants to feed Mar, they go to the market but run into Susana. She says she is sorry about Luis’ death. But don’t dare come near her Juan with her baby story, he is a married man. Mar assures her she won’t.

Hector has come to see the family. He says the DNA results could help contest the will, but are they sure they want to go through with all of this? Their father’s reputation will be put at risk and the trial could get very messy. Graciela thinks they should maybe reconsider how they need to move forward, but Camila doesn’t care, she wants to hurt Mar. Leo agrees with her, but Nick stands with Graciela, they need to do things with calm and measure.

Ofelia comes to see Rocio. They need to talk about a lot of things. She is willing to help her prove who her son is. Rocio doubts because of her timing. She already tried to lie to her once, she used to work for the Portillas and was part of their family. Ofelia says things have changed now, but Rocio is still not willing to believe her. Adios!

Mar tells Val she is very worried about the future. Luis was such a good man, he had plans for them, he even wanted to help her study. He believed in her, he was a wonderful man. Now what? Val thinks they can still achieve all of this, but Mar is more realistic. She needs to find a job. Val promises to always help her.

Still talking about what to do next, Arturo is unsure, Leo and Camila insist they need justice, those women mocked them all this time.
Oh, oh, there is a voice calling for them. “Hijos!”
It’s Luis, back from the dead, looking ruffled, but very much alive. Graciela almost faints, Camila runs to his arms, followed by Arturo and Leo, who kisses his hand. Nick is teary eyed; Art and Camila apologize for the way they talked to him in the past. Paula is troubled, her mind must be working overtime, trying to figure out the outcome. She manages to smile.

Oh, oh, no. End of the episode. And no show tonight. Desgraciados!

WHAT!?!?!?!?! I'm not shocked that Luis is alive of course, I'm shocked that his fake death only lasted 5.02 seconds!!!! That's a new one! And I'm feeling a little bit of 'what's the point of that....' but wow! That's one way to end an episode!

Thanks Adriana, for the recap! Sounds like the kind of episode that's more fun to read about than to watch so I guess I can wait til tonight to watch - except the last few seconds.

So, we really have these super dramatic last few days of Mar's a liar and the baby's not Luis and now literally EVERYTHING is undone because of course the DNA didn't match since the corpse wasn't Luis! I guess everyone can just move back into the mansion and pretend the last two days didn't happen??? LOL Well, not Val and Art, or Cami and Juan likely... Paula played her cards and can't buddy up to Mar now probably which is good. Okay, so one little brief detour had a pretty big impact - can't wait to watch the fallout.

Turns out Rocio really did only have a 12 minute window to get those boys alone! I feel bad for judging her now!

Darcy it was a pretty fun show to watch. The maids dragging trash bags of clothes from the room 30 seconds after the fight in the hall started was one highlight. Also the cat fights were entertaining, though Mar was totally passive in the fight. Ofelia protected her as best she could.

Val sure didn't get very far in prettying up the Casita. Only one wall has been painted on the interior so far. The burned sheets are still hanging in the window, in real life they would have been the first to be consumed by the flames. Ofelia's clothes probably had an eau de fumer scent to them. It was a switch to see her with her hair down. I'm surprised she hasn't set Rocio straight on the Gloria name mix up yet.

Back to the Casita. The table and green chairs survived the fire. In Mondays episode I noticed a new flowered couch in the living room when Amparo brought Val bread for breakfast. I was surprised to see Val had invested in it, then figured maybe a neighbor gave her a hand me down. But last night it was absent. I wonder if the scenes are short in order.

Luis looked rather battered and disheveled when he arrived home. It's a good thing he survived his ordeal. I guess he had his heart pills in his jacket. Stress from his kids sets his ticker off, but whatever he endured the past few days didn't. Things that make you go hmm. It looked like Graciela also may need a visit to the Dr to check out her heart.

What shall we do with nothing to watch tonight? I'm giving Amor Amardo a chance personally and I have quite a few to catch up on.

I thought I was going to have to ask for help in deciphering one of the scenes when memory suggested a way for them to get off from the charges. I thought maybe he claimed they thought it was a deer they hit or something like that, and never saw a body. But then when they gave their statements it was clarified. I would have thought some bruises would have needed to be present on Adrian and Memo to prove their story of the car being stolen.

One question. The girl who didn't know the boy had died. Was she his girlfriend and did she mention something about a baby not knowing his father or did I hear incorrectly. So many young actors in this show it's hard to keep them straight.

I was so excited to see Ernesto . The first time that I ever saw him was in " Alborado." He was the main character Luis's (Fernando Colunga) best friend . So, in this show, he is married to Tino's ex wife. Ernesto has such a great smile.

What in the world is the connection between Guzman, Calacas , and Fed???

Adriana Noel, you did a stellar job with this on the edge of your seat episode! Talk about action packed!!

"Could the baby be Juan’s? Hahaha, I actually love Paula in this scene". Truth be told, I did too! Totally!

What I loathed though was the way Luis' family attacked Mar like a wounded animal. "Camila keeps going after Mar physically (she is so vicious) and eventually manages to grab her so hard that she pushes her to the floor" was hard to watch especially as Mar has no fight, she is gentle soul...Yeah, Nick did step in but he should have taken his deranged sister away rather than let her continue her collateral damage. They were a bunch of savage beasts; Graciela should have been ashamed of herself.

Arturo and Val, whose romance had barely ignited is now extinguished.

Juan can put 2 and 2 together. I love that he admitted he and Camila should end it. "It" being Camila's pursuit and his capitulation. Susana now also has a clue. I hope Mar never lets her near her grandchild.

I was a bit surprised Luis burst through the door on his own volition, bruised and battered. Jarifa, you took "I cannot wait for Luis to ask: Where's Mar???? " right out of my head!! I was waiting for him to say exactly those words! I think those will be the first he utters when we return.

Cher Adriana, merci. WOW, you got quite an explosive episode to recap. I am not finished reading your snappy recap , but I just had to stop to comment.

Caray caray, Camila is so violent . Those pushes and pulls she delivered looked all too real . I wonder if the actress warns the other actor or actress that she is not going to hold back. Last night, she pushed and pulled pregnant Mar, and she had a lot of rage left as she doled out pushes to Paula and Juan. Somebody needs to give this nasty, out of control girl a taste of her own medicine ,and so far Ofelia has only managed to give her a slap or two.

Ah yes, Susana and her calendar. Hey, she knows...she just won't accept it, and how fitting that she is now the topic of gossip with the ladies in the hood.

I loved all your giddy hahahahas.

I couldn't believe the end . We hear Luis's voice...then the looks of disbelief on all the faces. Daddy's home!!! Can't wait to see what happens next. Susan

"What in the world is the connection between Guzman, Calacas , and Fed???" I wish I knew! All I can say is that they are an evil triumvierate. I have had a terrible time trying to translate almost everything Guzman says so I am in the dark...

Kat, I don’t remember anything about a baby but I am not watching very carefully. Yes, all the kids do look the same. I finally caught up this morning. I will probably binge watch this a couple times a week. So far, so good. I liked how Roberto’s boss tells Roberto (aka the Doberman/the Fury )not to step on any toes in one episode and now he has to investigate the son of Mr. Law and Order prez candidate aka Enrique. Ha! Enrique didn’t like the nickname of the chop shop guy: El Greñas. (Tangled hair) Roberto’s handcuff tie is the best. Even his corny coincidences with Luciana aren’t bothering me.

Jarifa, all these familiar faces are bringing their A games to this show. The locations and homes are all new to me . I wonder where this was filmed .

Thank you Adriana. The ending certainly was a surprise with the yet to come question by Luis: 'Where's my wife Mar?' When he finds out that his family threw her out, I hope his response is to demand that they all leave the house, and asks Mar and Ofelia to return to the mansion. For O, it will be a case of Answered Prayers!

I can’t believe Aide is falling for all Guzman’s lies. We see him in a whole different light than most of the employees. Only Tino and his group realize what he’s really like. I wonder if Aide even knew about Pipe. That should sure make you question Guzman.

Oliver seems like a nice boy. I hope that doesn’t change. But her friend was a little nutty talking to her about losing her virginity.

I wish Juan had seen his Camela in action. And Susana too. Quite a contrast to Mar! I think Susana only dislikes her because of Ofelia, but not sure.

So Arturo has his doubts about Val but Nick has no doubts. I think that tells us who Val will end up with. I liked the fact that Nick wasn’t on board with what they were doing, but he should have put a stop to it.

Tomorrow night’s show should be great, I imagine Luis will look for Mar, or call her name. I hope everyone gets pretty disgusted with Paula. Guess they all think Luis is the true dad, but Susana did the math, and Juan should. So they should realize it’s Juan’s baby.

Trying to look at Guzman objectively (hard as he's such scum), he seems to have a one note expression and devoid of personality. He's always talking out of the side of his mouth, literally and figuratively :)

Thanks Adrianna, that was a great recap. Ofelia gets more and more unlikable in each episode. And I had no idea what Graciela was talking to Hector about, I thought she was pulling a Leo and trying to interfere with the will.

Camila really flipped out in this episode. Yelling at Juan “You’re mine”. Then they made it clear they married because they have some kind of plan to get payback.

Count me in as one who thought Val was looking at both pictures because of feelings for both of them. I decided last night Nick will be end game. Arturo is just to immature. His answer to a problem is to go to a club. I didn’t think of Val as a meddler but where Mar is concerned, she is. I think she wants to save Mar from their mother’s influence. And I agree, Kat, Val does ugly cry.
