Dani’s treatment will cost $350K! Gloria is stunned at the amount. Eduardo says no matter, he will get the money, and Dani will get the transplant. He forks over $100K in cash as a down payment. The hospital admin looks a bit concerned, doesn’t he?

Perron holds Miguelito as a hostage and threatens to kill him if Nino doesn’t get him a car with a full tank of gas in 30 minutes. The boy pleads to Laura for help and she tries to keep him calm. Meanwhile, Uriel (Yadira’s druggie brother) comes down the stairs and gets a peek at the situation.

Nino declares, you won’t get away, Luigi Parra! Perron unmasks. It’s a shock for Laura that he’s the kidnapper. She shouts at Perron, you can hurt me but leave my son alone! Yadira hears the shouts and recognizes Laura’s voice. She runs out of her apartment and finds Uriel lurking in the stairwell. He stops Yadi from going further.

Laura tells Nino to give Perron what he wants because she’s sure he will carry out his threat.

Yadira manages to break free from her bro and inserts herself into the confrontation. She shouts, Perron, let Laura’s son go! Uriel acts and jumps Perron. Miguelito runs to Laura. Uriel disarms Perron. Nino and his agents move in to capture Perron. Yadi is grateful to Uriel for saving her life. She gives him a big hug.

Maribel contracts a hit on Glo. It’s someone that Juana knows. The woman wants $5K, half of it up front. Maribel asks for details on how the job will be done. The woman won’t give away the secrets of her trade. Besides she might have to improvise. Maribel is skeptical. If you are a pro, you don’t have to improvise. [I think Maribel is a pro and a master of improvisation.]

Amparo serves breakfast for Luisa and notes that her boss is always working. She also notes that Luisa is looking very happy these days. I have plenty of reasons to be excited, Luisa replies, I don’t know why I waited so long to do something for myself. She thinks back to that tune up and oil change she got from Duque. [don’t know about you, but that scene made me queasy! Forgive me saying this, but I’m wondering how much pleasure paralyzed Luisa could get from this. Apparently, it was enough.]

Nino tells Ed that Perron tried to kidnap Laura’s son. Ed wonders why. Laura doesn’t have money to pay a ransom. Nino says Perron won’t talk. Ed recalls the Jimenez case. Nino seems alarmed. He asks, you want to do that? Ed says, get me in there and I’ll make Perron talk.

Jacinto reminds Luisa that he pulled strings to get her elected. Yes, she knows, but now she wants to know what he wants from her. Jacinto says her municipality is the most important in the state because of the population and budget it receives. Luisa understands that Jacinto wants a portion of that budget. Jacinto says there will be some for him and some for her. Of course, more for him because he’s the governor. Luisa changes topics and asks Jacinto about Duque Medina. Jacinto squirms.

Cut to Duque beating the tar out of someone who betrayed him. This is gross. The guy is practically choking on his own blood. He asks for mercy. Duque provides it with a kill shot.

Jacinto asks Luisa why the questions about Duque. Luisa replies, it’s not just about Duque, but I want to continue my political career. I need to know how the state is run. Jacinto answers, Duque is dangerous, he ordered JJ’s death. Luisa knows that JJ stole from him. Jacinto adds that Duque threatened the family and killed Luisa’s father. Luisa blames Gloria for that because she was JJ’s wife.

Jacinto asks, has anyone threatened you? Did Duque try to contact you? [lol] She denies it. She wouldn’t get involved with criminals without telling him. He doesn’t think Duque will contact her but if he does, she shouldn’t talk to him. He tells her to contact him first. She agrees. [I could make a lot of snarky asides on this convo. I’m sure you could, too.]

Bolillo is at the cantina and Arturo shows up. Bolillo panics. He doesn’t have the money Arturo gave Perron. Art says, relax, I’m not here for that. I’m here to offer you a deal. Finish the job Perron started. I want my son. Marlin walks into the cantina and takes a seat a distance away.

Maribel shows Juana a pic of Perron and says he betrayed her. He was arrested for kidnapping a kid. Juana tells her, if someone hurts you, they will pay. Maribel is worried that Perron will rat on her. He knows too much. Juana talks about removing the stones in the road. Maribel replies she will have to pay a lot to remove boulders. And it’s all Gloria’s fault. She must die.

Glo and Ed talk about Laura. Glo says she warned her about Perron many times. But why would he kidnap her son? Ed tells her that Perron refuses to talk.

Glo and Ed meet Dr. Gil, Dani’s doc. Dani has swelling in his feet, typical of kidney issues. He needs treatment soon. Glo gets the results from her test—she’s not a match for Dani. The doc says Dani will be added to the transplant list. Could take months or even years. In the meantime, there’s glucose monitors and a machine so Dani can do dialysis at home. A nurse will teach them how to use them. Glo and Ed assure Dani they will do everything to have him treated there. But then Ed says they have to return to Mexico.

Bolillo says he’s got no time to talk, someone is waiting for him. Not so fast, Art says, didn’t you hear me? I’m offering good money to finish the job. Bolillo says Laura won’t fall for it again. Art says Laura doesn’t know Bolillo was involved. Perron won’t talk. Bolillo notes that Laura knows he’s friends with Perron. Art doesn’t care, he just wants his son. Bolillo says he’ll think about it.

Bolillo heads over to Marlin’s table. Marlin asks, what’s Gloria been up to since she returned from Tijuana?

Ed gives Dani a cool gift. Glo leaves the room to get her son’s meds. Dani’s doing better but he doesn’t like dialysis.

Ed gets a call he doesn’t want Dani to hear, but Dani can hear his side of the convo. Ed says, San Fransico Park? Okay, I’m on my way. Gloria returns to the room and Ed tells her he has to go. He’ll call later. Glo suggests to Dani that they go out for a while. They can ask Yadi, Laura and Miguel to come along. So Dani suggests going to San Franciso Park.

Everyone’s at the park. Gloria cautions Dani about running to much. Yadi thinks Laura shouldn’t visit Perron in prison. She says she won’t, but she feels like asking him what he planned to do with her son. Why did he want to bring him to Mexico? Glo says all that matters is Miguel is with Laura.

Yadira reviews her situation, unemployed, drug free and a mess, who is living one day at a time. She’s thinking about going back to her social media job.

Dani takes off running and Gloria shouts at him to stop. Dani keeps going because he spots Eduardo. Gloria chases him. Dani gives Ed a big hug. Gloria catches up to him and asks, what are you doing here? Ed takes a couple of guilty gulps.

Mati comes to the hospital to speak with Dr. Gil. She knows Gloria wasn’t a match for Dani and asks if she can be tested.

Dani pipes up that he heard Ed was going to the park and he wanted to come to surprise him. Ed claims he’s there for work. Gloria is suspicious and sends Dani back to play with Miguel. Glo asks Ed, what’s up? You were fired. Nino shows up. Ed says they are meeting to discuss Perron’s case. Gloria is still suspicious. Ed tells her to let him speak with Nino and then they can talk.

Miguel and Dani are feeding chips to the turtles. Eduardo’s daughter, Amanda, walks up to them and tells them to stop because turtles shouldn’t eat that. There’s a brief conversation. Amanda notes that Miguel talks funny.

Amanda’s mom, Veronica, comes rushing over and scolds, I told you not to talk to strangers. Come with me! She pulls the girl away and continues to scold, I told you not to lean on anything or get dirty! Yadi and Laura are watching and listening. They wonder why the girl is being treated like that. Miguel says the woman is her mom and she didn’t want the girl talking to them. He refers to the woman as amargada, bitter.

A guard comes with a special delivery for Maribel. A bundle of money. Maribel hands it over to Juana in payment for the hit job and to clear her debts. She asks Juana if she can get her earrings or lipstick.

Maribel calls Bernardo to thank him for the money and for hiding the videos. She swears she will pay him back triple.

Dani asks, where’s Eduardo? Gloria says maybe he will catch up to them later. Miguel points out that weird girl they met earlier. And look, her crazy mother is arguing with someone. Gloria tells the boys to go play. Glo, Yadi, and Laura, walk over to the arguing people. Surprise, it’s Ed arguing with his wife.

Gloria asks, is everything okay? What’s it to you, Vero snaps back. Ed tells Vero that the women are FGR agents. Ed introduces his daughter Amanda and then his wife, Veronica. Gloria asks, your wife? And this is your daughter? Vero asks the women, what’s your problem? She asks Ed, if they are agents, why haven’t I ever met them? Ed says they are undercover. [I’m enjoying Ed’s discomfort.]

Gloria snarks, yes, were deep undercover, no one knows about us. In fact, we don’t know much about each other’s lives. That’s why we were surprised. Yadi chimes in, since we’re undercover, we should get back to work. Ha, Yadira salutes Ed and calls him commander. Vero laughs, you work with my husband, but you don’t know he was fired? Ed says not everyone knows. Gloria says, we realize our mistake and we won’t let it happen again.

Mati is a match for Dani!

Vero sends Amanda away so the adults can talk. Vero explains, today is Amanda’s birthday and her father and I planned a surprise party for her. Gloria tells Ed, I see why you said something came up. Vero notes that Ed seems very close with the “agents”. You tell them what you do and where you’re going. Vero invites them to the party at the banquet hall. Yadi replies they shouldn’t, being as they are undercover and they leave.

Nino reappears and Ed leaves him with Vero and Amanda while he talks to his “coworkers”. Suspicious Vero asks Nino, I met your coworkers, aren’t you going to greet them? Or are they so deep that you don’t know about them? Nino is stunned.

Oh no, not more of Luisa and Duque and their no strings attached relationship. But I guess these two were made for each other. A match made in Hell. Oh no again, Amparo is bringing something to the bedroom and overhears Luisa laughing and saying Duque’s name. She listens more intently. Luisa says, let’s be honest, Duque. We’re better off like this. You said Jacinto provides help with the business and I don’t want to be in the narco world.

Amparo has heard enough and hurries away. She takes out her phone and calls her son with a question. What was the name of the narco who kidnapped you and Karen? Are you sure it’s Duque?

Vero is waiting for Nino’s answer. Are they agents or not? It’s complicated, Nino replies, Eduardo and I don’t always work with the same agents. Vero says she can see why they were hired, they don’t look like agents. Nino remembers the kidnapping attempt and tells Vero he worked with her (Laura) on a kidnapping case. Vero asks about the pretty one who seems more like a model and not an agent. [not sure but I’m guessing that’s Glo?] Nino pulls out the confidentiality card to avoid answering more questions. Vero sees through this. You and Eduardo must think I’m an idiot [no, just a shrew]. That woman nearly fainted when she heard I’m Eduardo’s wife. Nino claims he knows nothing.

Gloria feels like a fool. Yadi tells her, it’s not your fault. Gloria answers, it is. I believed him! He said he wanted to start a family with us! He didn’t just lie to me, he lied to my son! Dani can’t experience this. What do I tell him? How do I tell him he won’t see Eduardo again? Yadi points out that the wife seems awful and crazy. Maybe they don’t get along. Gloria fires back, Is that an excuse? I have my dignity, and I won’t give it up for Eduardo or anyone. Glo asks to be alone. She thinks back to all the times Ed didn’t answer his phone.

Here comes Ed. He reaches out and Gloria warns him, never touch me again, Eduardo! Of all the women in the world, you cheat on your wife with me? You know my story and what I’ve been through! I was easy prey, no? Ed claims this wasn’t his intention. Gloria’s not buying it. You lied to me, Dani, your wife… and daughter. You said you wanted to start a family with me. You already have one!

Ed tries to explain, Amanda is my world, but Veronica… Gloria interrupts, I don’t believe you! Your wife told me all I need to know about your marriage. Glo tries to walk but Ed pulls her back. Let me go! Ed claims he didn’t tell because he was scared Gloria would leave him. Gloria replies, of course I would leave you! Ed says he’s sorry, it’s not his fault. I didn’t ask for this, he adds, I didn’t ask to come into your life and fall in love with you like this. I’m burning inside. I love you, Gloria. You feel the same way, don’t you? She can’t answer.

Nino asks Laura if they can talk about the kidnapping. Laura is grateful to Nino. Nino asks her if they could talk again sometime. [Aha, Nino is definitely sweet on Laura.] Laura looks puzzled and Nino fumbles and adds that it’s about Perron. The case is still pending. Laura says sure, if it means he rots in prison. She puts her number in his phone.

Ed continues to explain. My marriage to Veronica has been over for a long time. Gloria stops him, she’s heard that story before. Your wife doesn’t understand you, you’re with her just because of your daughter… [you know, standard TN stuff]. Gloria recounts the lies. He denied being an officer. He lied about the money and said it was a loan.

Ed replies, I did it for Daniel. But you lied, Glo answers. Dani has been through a lot. He lost his father, his home, his health… now he’s lost you. He tries to stop her from leaving and she slaps him! Vero runs over and is ready to fight Gloria. Ed separates them. Gloria tells Vero to ask Ed about his trip to LA and why he didn’t answer the phone. Vero asks, what trip? Gloria tells Ed to answer and then she walks away.

Vero is waiting for an explanation. Who is that woman? Did you go to LA? Why did she hit you? Ed tries to avoid answering, saying that the party guests are waiting for them. I don’t care about them, Vero shouts. She asks, why did you go with her to LA? Is that why you didn’t answer my calls?

Ed cites confidentiality and can’t say. It’s work related. Vero asks, is her reason for hitting you also confidential? Ed says there was an accident. Her husband was murdered. She and her son had their lives ruined. Do you have more questions, or do we go to the party? Vero is frozen to the spot. Will she want revenge on Gloria, too?

Juana is on the phone arranging the hit job. She hands the phone to Maribel. Start by following her, Maribel says, her boyfriend is an FGR agent so be careful. You’ll have to kill him, too. I’ll send her address.

Yadira brings Uriel to a support group, and they sit in the back of the room. He doesn’t look to happy to be there, but at least he went. She tells him to wipe the look off his face. The people here are cool, and they will help. He answers, we’ll see, I’m not talking to anyone. A man, Gael, shares his story. He’s been clean for 553 days and the group helped him achieve that. What a coincidence—this man is the surveyor who saved Yadi!

Ed takes Amanda and Vero home. Vero asks the help to clean the presents before Amanda gets them. Amanda is sleeping on Ed’s shoulder. Vero’s not happy about that. It means the kid won’t sleep at night. Ed brings Amanda upstairs and Vero is all smiley.

Dani asks Glo, why won’t you let me talk to Eduardo? I couldn’t say goodbye to him at the park. Eduardo is busy, Gloria replies, he asked that we don’t bother him. The boy asks, did you fight with Eduardo? Gloria denies it but Dani saw, and everyone heard. Why are you lying? You don’t let me lie. You’re a liar! I want to see Eduardo! Tell him to come! Dani leaves the room and that leaves Glo in a dilemma.

Ed comes downstairs and Vero is there with a glass of wine. Where are you going? We just got back. I don’t have to explain myself to you, he replies, we’ve been living separate lives for a long time. It’s exhausting to pretend we’re a happy family.

Vero ignores that. She offers him the wine glass and asks, will you spend the night tonight? He pushes the glass away. You’re never going to forgive me, she tells him. I don’t think you should be drinking, he answers, take your meds and go to sleep. It wasn’t my fault, she claims, you have to believe me! It’s been two years, and I can still hear the hatred in your voice. Ed doesn’t want to talk about it.

Vero cries, it wasn’t my fault, Eduardo. I didn’t kill him! Ed looks at a pic of a happy family of four—Ed, Vero, Amanda and a little boy.

And we are out.

Wow, Dondi, thank you for bringing us every moment . I record this,show and watch the next day . Today , I read your excellent , detailed recap while I watched the show . , so I knew exactly what was happening .

Hmmm...looks like Yadira and Laura have some nice guys interested in them . yay.

I hope Nino is a good guy because it seems that every cop Ed has dealt wth has been corrupt.

Uh oh , Ed had a secret family . I wonder if Vero was driving drunk , had an accident , and the son was killed.

Excellent recap, as always, dondi. Thanks so much! Well, a lot happens every night in this show, and a lot of it doesn't make sense.

Gloria got a taste of medicina estadounidense. A few years ago I had an emergency appendectomy that cost $70K. [I was fully insured.] Some of these outrageous sums are to cover the risk of hordes of personal injury lawyers hovering around to convince some patient to sue post treatment.

So Maribel is going to use some of the money she probably needs to survive in this transactional prison to put a hit on Gloria?

Loved Luisa's "tune up and oil change". You're not alone, dondi. I also wondered about sex post paralysis. I concluded she couldn't walk but maybe things above the thighs still work.

Jacinto and Luisa have zero shame in stealing from the citizens of Baja California. He gets it from the state and Luisa wants it from the city of Tijuana to continue to erase every sign of Gloria from Gloria's former home. I think, but am not certain, that her role is what we would call the mayor?

"Luisa blames Gloria for that." Easy to cut and paste that for every episode in which Luisa appears.

I forgot Bolillo was supposed to be following Gloria for El Duque.

How did Adela Robinson get all that hair under those multi-colored bob wigs?" I looked closely, and this looks like her real hair.

Actually, I thought it was not an Oh No that Amparo overheard Luisa. She's better off knowing how rotten she is, and she could possibly be a small piece in bringing Luisa down.

Seems like Yadira may have taken Uriel to a meeting of NA, judging by Gael not mentioning alcohol as his problem.

My “oh no” for Amparo is based on the concept that finding out critical information sometimes leads to death, especially since this show has no problem killing off characters. This is not to say I know that Amparo is doomed. I’ve mentioned I watched the original, which started in 2014. So my memories are fuzzy, but I will avoid mentioning or speculating about details I remember.

Luisa and El Duque make quite a couple. He's horrible (though apparently not in bed) and she's horrible too, so they have a lot in common. Of course, they're likely to wind up trying to kill each other.

I'm surprised to see supercop Eduardo is a pitiful liar. Laura, Yadi, and Gloria are undercover agents? Oh well, at last some comic relief.
