More crazy. Bahar and Timur might have been infected by a patient with a deadly virus. They spent time togetherbin an isolation room. They were worried about mortality but finally got good bloodwork.
Reha saves Bahar’s mother after her heart stopped.
A character was introduced, Timur’s aunt. She may be involved in some shady stuff. She looks like a character. Might be only a few episodes left. I hope we don’t have a cliff-hanger ending!
Babachita
I was so exasperated watching Wednesday’s show, dying to know what they had cut out.
This one they could have cut tons and I wouldn’t have minded. It seemed like a lot of typical contrived TN disasters – a potentially deadly virus, Bahar’s mom having a heart event. She needs her chest pumped! The monitor flatlines! Oh no! How many times have we seen that scene over the years? And if Bahar felt sick why was she suddenly fine?
And what was the point of the new guy having stabbed a fellow in the garage? Or in the stomach I should say. Where did he get the shard of glass? The guy dies and the new guy is taken away by the police so there he goes never to be seen again. I guess this was to introduce the character of Timur’s tia, but couldn’t they have done that some other way? And why bring in a new character when we’re almost at the end?
The tia says she lost her home and everything in L.A. Well, after our January fires there are a lot of people in that position – I know several who lost everything. So I looked up the date for this show and it’s 2024. So how did she manage to lose everything? Maybe we’ll find out.
I was sorry there wasn’t more to the scene where Dr Reha visits Bahar’s mom. I bet that was all cut. I’m enjoying that budding relationship, though we don’t get to see much of it. When he was at the hospital he lamented that he shouldn’t have left her alone, but just minutes before we saw him putting on pink slippers for his visit. We never saw him get called away.
Who’s the guy who’s evaluating the hospital? Is he a psychiatrist? Is this a matter of having to have someone to match Cagla up with in true TN fashion?
I haven’t had much time to carefully review the last few Turkish episodes. They are each approx. 2:20 long! I'm only up to the episode that ends with the NYE party. (Turkish #30) Massive amounts were cut. It's ridiculous. I think Telemundo is already airing scenes from Turkish #33 – 34!
Seren came home alone one night and found a masked thief in the apartment. She tried to detain him. They struggled on the stairs and they both fell. This caused a huge uproar among the families and between Seren and Uraz. Efsun used this to her advantage to get Seren and Uraz to come live with her. Bahar loses once again.
Rengin is losing her mind over the possibility that Timur is cheating.
Ismail Bey comes to see Timur. They talk about all the recent disasters at the hospital. Timur tells him it's a tough job to do alone. Ismail says Timur won’t be running things alone now. The Peran Foundation founder’s son, Tolga Okaner, is coming. He’s a successful psychiatrist. Timur is forced to accept whether he likes it or not. I think you're right Maggie, this guy will be for Cagla.
The reason why Efsun was at the hospital NYE party was because she has an old friend that owns a hall and would give her a big discount. And she was able to persuade him to get rid of video that showed her backstage with Timur during the hot mic event.
Timur is continuously finding himself in awkward situations with Efsun no matter how hard he tries to avoid her.
Also cut from the NYE party, Ugur does a magic trick using Efsun as his assistant. He puts her in a box and makes her disappear. Uh oh, he can’t bring her back! Timur goes backstage and starts warming up for his song. He finds Efsun crawling around on the floor. She didn't fully understand what she had to do and got dizzy. He helps her up and she wanders off.
They are cutting a lot of Gulcicek and Reha.
I'll try to get the wedding and the deadly virus over the weekend. BTW, the full Turkish episodes are on YouTube but they have no subtitles, Turkish or English. My Turkish isn't good enough to fully understand, especially when they speak fast. I’ve found some half decent translations to work from.
Dondi – you are doing us a huge service! I was amazed to read all that was cut, and also heartbroken. This is such a great show and they’re just eviscerating it. The part about Seren and Uriz moving in with her mom is an important plot point. I can’t imagine anyone actually moving in with Efsan. Toxic is an inadequate word for her.
Thank you so much for taking the time to fill us in!
I did some googling. I can’t believe that the internet is silent about TNs being cut. We know these are hugely popular shows. In fact, here in LA it made the papers when a hit TN (La Fea Mas Bella? Pasion?) gave Univision higher ratings here than all the major networks. It was the top channel! There has to be an angry viewership – surely it can’t just be us here on Caray.
I tried some Spanish search words and finally landed on a YouTube clip. A woman was doing a voiceover while showing clips of a popular show and lamenting that it was cut near the end. Why always near the end? Then Juan Osario appeared! He said he was “triste.” I bet. I guess he couldn’t show actual outrage because he wouldn’t want to make Univision mad, but I’m sure he was beyond triste.
I also remember when we had a show with Jaime Camil and he said he was so triste that so many scenes had been cut from that TN, that there were wonderful scenes that viewers in the US didn’t get to see.
Dondi, thanks for coming to our rescue again. Even just visuals of the show, understanding nothing, may help us follow the plot. I'll look for it on YouTube.
Yes dondi, thanks so much for filling in Telemundo’s outrageous cuts. I like the character of Bahar—how she plods along amid all the adversity, keeping her dignity and treating others with respect. But I was so frustrated last night I turned it off. Thanks again dondi, and Maggie, Babachita, novelera for keeping it going.
I found the Turkish versions. Dondi, they really are 2 hours long! I started on 31 as you told us about 30. I'm currently half way through episode 32. I don't understand a word, but noticed Tolga has lots of scenes. So have all the former what we thought were uncut episodes been chopped up also. I could see losing a few minutes of them without affecting the storyline, but if dialogue is cut that is just plain wrong. The dwarf that Bahar was treating I'm sure had some comic reason so it could likely be cut. Then there seemed to be Bahar doing commercials for food and books that I had no idea why. Probably not a plot driver either. A lot of planning and scenes leading up to the wedding were left out.
I'm not even sure what episode Telemundo is showing tonight, but looks like I won't catch up with the Turkish version before 10 tonight.....
Not even sure what number this is but I think Mondays is the gran finale. There is a 3rd season in Turkey, currently playing, so perhaps we will get more of this in the future.
Is Tolga married? He brought some bags (possibly if clothing) to a reception desk of a hotel? and I thought he mentioned a wife. If so, I guess the Cagla romance is off. Or were they clothes for Cagla so she wouldn't have the walk of shame after a night together.
The lady encased in concrete is definitely a different twist on a ER visit. They actually covered it a lot in this episode. Perhaps the family dynamics should have been the primary focus though.
Everyone is converging on Bahar's house for dinner. Tia Leyla? has a brain aneurysm which surgery may kill her, and she has lost her recent memory. I'm assuming she was the sister of Timur's father. Sounds like she raised Timur as a child. Any chance she is actually his mother?
Evren pretends to be Rengin's boyfriend at the full house dinner party. But Rengin refuses his proposal of marriage and gives some digs at Timur in the process. Leyla makes a bunch of remarks about the skinny big fitted girl that was Timur's first girlfriend. She says, Nevra, you didn't like her either. Poor Rengin. She invited herself to dinner on Parla's advice. Why aren't you there with Dad. Rengin tells Timur she called you Dad! You are making headway with her.
Once again a very choppy episode. Taking Dondi's post as advice, I've found the Turkish 2+hour versions of the episodes. I don't have a single word of Turkish in my wheelhouse, but I do recognize the names at least. I'll catch up with the rest of the cut scenes over the weekend.
Kat, thank you for all this extra information!! It’s both fascinating and saddening because why don’t we get to see all that? Where are you watching the Turkish episodes? I hope there are no ads. Two hours – wow!
I thought tonight’s episode was fun. At least the parts we got to see. It was like a drawing room comedy. The tia is a kick. She sure doesn’t like Nevra, but then neither do we.
And that poor lady encased in cement! How does she breathe? They really could chip that cement off – you don’t need a cement cutter (though that might help) and certainly not a sledgehammer. Was that broken-pelvis x-ray supposed to be her? And if so, how did they get an x-ray?
I thought the scene where Efsun put her daughter down so much at dinner was very well written.
What’s up with Dr. Tolga going to visit his sick wife. Dementia maybe?
Shoot I typed a really long comment then I hit home rather than the space bar and lost it all! I found it on YouTube with commercials, but they aren't overwhelming. I read FB or play Duolingo in the minute break.
I went into great detail about the cement lady but it's not really important to the story so I won't do it again. I had questions about the civil engineering aspect of the cement and that I wouldn't want to be the owner of the project being built.
Let me instead discuss the wedding attire as that was the episode I watched inong form. Efsun in white like her daughter was totally inappropriate. I'm pretty sure Seren agreed . When Efsun met with Seren and Aziz Uras in the dressing room at the club Cagla and Bahar were there too. An argument ensued between mother and daughter as Cagla and Bahar figure out a fix. As Efsun turned to leave Bahar collided with her holding her glass of red wine which spilled down the front of the dress. Thus the red sash Efsun wore for the rest of the ceremony/reception.
Then there was Bahar's dress, all in black with a long train! It came into play during the wedding first dance when the parents of the bride and groom were invited to dance with them. That was a funny scene with Bahar kicking it out of the way in her spins, etc...
Cagla looked like a hooker in her blue outfit. Not a fan of her dress.
The mass casualties were never really explained. A bus or train accident perhaps. The first wedding ceremony has included signatures. The officiant was the newer bald headed guy from the hospital, not Duruk. Not sure if he's an admin guy or a doctor. I guess the rooftop wedding at the hospital was to have the real judge (now on an IV) sign the paperwork the couple signed at the first wedding ceremony.
So if you have time to kill and want some visuals of the wedding search for Bahar episode 31 on YouTube....
I enjoyed the humorous situation with Timur’s aunt. Is she his mother’s sister? It made me chuckle as more people joined in. Poor Rengin had to listen to the aunt describing Timur’s college girlfriend (Rengin) as tall, skinny, with big feet! Rengin is so brilliant but somewhat awkward socially. What a shock it must have been to a pregnant Rengin when Timur married Bahar.
I did go watch the wedding in Turkish on YouTube. I love to hear the actors’ real voices! I got to hear Bahar sing! The scene with Bahar having to flip her train while dancing with Aziz Uraz was funny. Lots of subtle humor in this, and we probably miss out on half of it!!
Babachita
Babachita, Rengin wasn't pregnant when Timur and Bahar married. (Bahar was pregnant with Aziz Uras then). That happened years later as Parla and Umay are the same age.
I thought they were both pregnant. But, I guess Bahar was pregnant with Aziz Uraz, so that doesn't work. How much older is he than Umay? Thank you for clarifying this! I might have it now:
So, Timur and Rengin were college sweethearts. She left for awhile and he met Bahar, who got pregnant. They married and Rengin (who had returned too late) went away. She returned and he cheated on Bahar, and both Rengin and Bahar were pregnant. Rengin didn’t tell and left for America to have Parla. Did she go to America all three times? This is complicated!
Babachita
The way I understand it, Timur went to the US for an externship or something and reconnected with Rengin while he was there. She got pregnant but didn't tell him about it until 3 years before the show began. They had been apart for those 13 or 14 years and I guess Rengin came back to Turkey to work at his hospital and they hooked up again. I recall Bahar and Timur stopped sharing a bed around that time. That should have been her first clue that something was wrong in the marriage. Dondi, is that what you got from it?
As to ages, Aziz Uras would be 24 at the start of the show since his parents just reached the 25th anniversary. We know that Umay is 16 as they had a party for her. So 8 years between the siblings.
Kat, you are correct. Bahar was pregnant with Aziz Uraz when she married Timur and he was born shortly after they married. He's at least 25 by now.
The wedding is in Turkish episode #32. I'm going to look at it later today.
Yes, the Turkish eps are over 2 hours long. It’s like the writers, cast, and crew film a full-length movie each week! So it’s one episode a week in Türkiye, with two or three ≈10 min commercial breaks inserted. The Turks also stick product placement scenes into dizis.
In Turkish #31, Timur meets with Tolga and totally trashes Bahar. He paints himself as the victim in the marriage. He mentions the saltshaker incident, the overturning of the fish tank, and that Bahar trashed the house after losing it to Rengin. He calls her ambitious and out to get what she wants. He says that Bahar has become unbalanced. As chief physician, he’s concerned she poses a threat to the hospital.
Later, Timur trashes Bahar to Ismail Bey and says she shouldn’t work at the hospital anymore.
Bahar confronts Timur over the NYE misunderstanding. Bahar is livid and gets physical with Timur. As she goes to bite him on the hand, Tolga enters the room. Not a good look.
Umay overhears a convo between Timur and Rengin. Timur trashes Bahar again. Rengin also thinks Bahar should leave the hospital. Umay gives Bahar a heads up on it.
I think the dwarf was brought in to make hospital staff think that Bahar is losing her mind.
Tolga meets with other hospital staff.
Rengin is very resistant and paranoid and doesn’t want to meet again.
Seren talks about her mom and the henna party.
Doruk mentions his surgeon father was a narcissist and left the family when he was young. He never wanted his mother to remarry. He’s taken the role of her protector.
Evren says he doesn’t worry about the things he can’t change. But he has commitment issues. He’s rootless. He lived on a boat for a long time. He recently reunited with a brother and moved into a house. Tolga asks Evren about his relationship with Bahar. Evren says they’re taking it slow. Evren asks Tolga for his evaluation. He prefers to get the bad news right away.
Tolga brings up the fact that Bahar has a family and will have grandchildren. That’s something for someone who doesn’t like commitments. Is it more appealing for you to enter a ready-made family rather than start your own? Evren seems disturbed about that.
Seems like everyone who’s met with Tolga seem upset.
Bahar feels like she’s been gaslighted by Timur. She does a voiceover: "A narcissist doesn't tell big lies; on the contrary, they distort the truth to the point of destroying your reputation, masterfully planting seeds in the other person's mind, building a trap that will sink you as you try to explain yourself."
Seren takes her mom on a surprise shopping trip to the bazaar. They are met by Gulcicek, Cagla, and Nevra to help Seren plan her Kına Gecesi. Debate ensues. Efsun loses. Seren will get the traditional henna night SHE wants.
Cagla goes to a café and Tolga enters afterwards. He goes to her table and asks her why she keeps trying to avoid him. He asks to sit. She explains she was very embarrassed by the way they met. He jokes that he never heard such scolding and praise at first sight. Didn’t you find me worth getting to know? She hesitates. He says he’d like to get to know her. Isn’t life too short to miss beautiful opportunities? Let’s have dinner. She stutters. She’s confused. She doesn't know what to do. He gives her his business card. Call me.
The dwarf incident is solved, Bahar is vindicated. Six other dwarves bring Muhteşem back to the hospital. They’ve been doing a play as the 7 dwarves.
It’s time for Bahar’s session with Tolga. She begins by saying Timur must have talked about her. And the dwarf is real. She starts to explain the NYE incident. She was trying to keep Timur’s secret. Somehow it got ridiculously out of hand and the blame fell on her. What could she do?
Tolga notes that she’s divorced Timur. Yes, she says, but they have children. The family has always been my priority, to protect it. Tolga asks, who exactly is your family? She answers, my children… my mother… Cagla, she’s like a sister to me. Tolga asks, And Timur? Bahar freezes for a moment then says, no, no, he’s just the father of my children. Tolga questions, but you said you protect the family. Timur is not part of the family.
Bahar says, but my son… he’s getting married… Tolga says this is really an issue for father and son. Why take this on at your own cost? I always do, she responds, I always have. Tolga tells her relationships are different in healthy divorces. We set boundaries. Bahar says she’s done that, and she even has a new boyfriend. He asks about the new relationship. Bahar says it’s kind of up and down. She has some trust issues coming out of marriage. But she loves Evren. He puts up with her.
Do you think you are someone who needs to be tolerated, Tolga asks. No, she replies. But she got that idea from Timur, the way he treated her. He’d joke, who else would love someone like you, but me? Bahar gets teary. Tolga offers a tissue and asks if Evren treats her that way. Not at all, she says, he listens very well.
Tolga asks if they are living together. She says it’s not that kind of a relationship… not sexual. He asks, then what distinguishes Evren from other friends? She can’t answer. Tolga thinks it’s because she hasn’t totally broken away from Timur. He wants her to focus on starting a new life. She complains of Timur constantly trying to drag her down and no one sees it. She tells Tolga, you can write whatever you want in your report. She gets up and leaves.
Evren has a rough time in a PT session. Bahar helps him and he has a breakthrough.
Timur brings his report on Bahar to Tolga. He tells him to add his report and finish the matter.
Efsun tries to steal the show during henna night. A big glitch—there is no happily married woman present to apply the henna to Seren! Cagla volunteers. She may not be married or have children, but she’s a happy, strong and confident woman. Olsun! Efsun gets too close to the fireplace and her dress catches fire!
Wow Dondi that was remarkable. Are you that fluent in Turkish or have you found a site that gives translations? I've struck out on finding anything with CC's. I can't believe Timur tried to get her fired and gaslit her. I thought Rengin was coming around, but I guess the NYE incident brought back all her insecurities.
I have no idea why this show is ending Monday. Are the ratings poor? After the hatchet job they've done this week I bet people quit watching. I seriously doubt Monday's episode will be any better.
Efsun's dress was really revealing at the henna party. It deserved to go up in flames.
Poor Duruk. His character makes more sense to me now.
Thanks again..... you're a rock star!
Bahar is not ending on Monday. It shows up on my TV schedule at 10p through Oct 16. That’s as far as the Gracenote schedule goes.
Kat, there are sites that translate dizis. Some are paid subscription, some are free. I’ve never paid so I don’t know how accurate the translations are on those sites.
As for the free sites, you have to be careful and have good antivirus protection. And the translations are hit or miss. Some sites eventually get taken down for rights violations.
I think there are also groups on Facebook and Instagram that translate/post dizis, but I don’t subscribe to social media.
There are lots of BiliBili accounts that post dizis that have been translated from the free sites. We can’t access BiliBili from the US because it’s based in China. You would need a VPN to access it. BiliBili is free.
YouTube has some officially translated or dubbed dizis, like KPA. Unfortunately, they posted Bahar without the option of any CCs. And a lot of times, the caps are auto generated so they are not 100% reliable but sometimes they are good enough to get the idea.
You can find some dizi episodes on the Dailymotion site. But they have annoying ads. If you have the software, you can download the episodes without ads.
I’ve been using Dailymotion for the Turkish Bahar eps. They are “free site” translations and good enough. It really helps to have some knowledge of Turkish.
I have been trying to remember how I first saw this on Netflix, I think, way back. I assume it was dubbed in Spanish. Might have had English cc. I remember reading Barbra Streisand watched it on Netflix. I assume there must have been some English for her to enjoy it.
IIRC, it was on Vix or Peacock, or??? recently and then went away.
This time I’m viewing it on YouTube English-English. At first, I hated the awful accents. But, I’ve adjusted to them. I think they have included some scenes I didn’t see before. Of course, I have no way to check the cc’s. It allows me to do summaries faster. But, best would be Turkish with English or Spanish cc. I love to hear their real voices.
Babachita
I started watching this on a free site with English subtitles soon after it finished airing in Türkiye.
I was thrilled when it came to Netflix because I could watch it again and again with a good translation. Netflix gives you options for viewing with dubbing and/or subtitles. I always watched in Turkish with either English or Turkish subtitles. It was on Netflix for a long time and was very popular. I was sorry to see it leave Netflix this past February.
You remember well, Babachita, the fanbase was so excited when Streisand posted that her and her husband were binge watching til 4am! She didn't specify how she watched.
The full Turkish eps on YouTube have auto translated CCs available. I'm toggling between the Turkish and English CCs. It's good enough for me with the Turkish I know.
Bahar comes to see Tolga and tells him she wants to start therapy sessions with him.
Timur gets Rengin to represent him at a wedding planning meeting with Efsun. She spots a tray of buttons on a table and one button looks like it doesn’t belong with the others. She puts it in her purse.
Efsun insists on using a certain expensive caterer and other luxury stuff for the wedding. Rengin agrees to it. It’s a problem for Bahar. When Efsun leaves the room, Bahar is unhappy that Rengin is so agreeable. Bahar can’t afford such extravagance. And she also knows that Timur is a cheapskate.
In case you are not aware, the tradition in Türkiye is that the groom’s family pays for the wedding. This is why Efsun’s extravagance is so offensive. And IIRC, she offered to pay at one point, that’s humiliating.
Seren asks Uraz to go live with Bahar until the wedding. She wants to avoid potential conflicts between him and her mom during the wedding preparations.
As expected, Timur blows up at Rengin when he sees Efsun’s plans.
Bahar shares her wedding financial issues with Cagla. Umay overhears and suggests that Bahar do product promotions on social media to make money.
Cagla tells Bahar about her café encounter with Tolga. Cagla is afraid to accept the dinner invitation and get involved with him. Bahar takes Cagla’s phone and composes a message to Tolga. All Cagla has to do is press send. Cagla sends the message. Tolga’s response is “harika” (wonderful).
Rengin flashes back on everything that made her suspicious about Timur cheating with Efsun. She checks a suit in his closet. It has a missing button. Later she tells him she found the button and sewed it back on his suit.
Uraz asks Bahar if he can stay with her until the wedding to avoid problems with Efsun. Bahar gets snarky—how could you stand to leave Mother Efsun? But of course, she will let her son come.
Bahar is contacted by a company that’s interested in partnering with her. She does a spot for Ciğerci Ragip Usta’s liver wraps. And then another for exam prep books.
Bahar has a session with Tolga. She feels like she betrayed Timur. He was my first love. Tolga asks, so what makes you feel guilty? Bahar was hoping he had the answer to that. He asks her to lean back and close her eyes. Feel your body. Where do you feel guilt? Her mouth trembles. She points to the middle of her chest.
Tolga asks, do you remember when you first felt it? A tear falls. Bahar replies, it seems like all my childhood. When my dad was around. Tolga asks about her dad. Was he a difficult person? Very much, she answers. He was unhappy that she wanted to be a doctor. It wasn’t a profession for a woman. She wouldn’t be able to raise a family.
What was your father’s profession, Tolga asks. He was a craftsman, Bahar says. Your mom? A housewife. The fortress of the home. She spent her life trying to make my dad happy. He asks, was your dad hot tempered? Sometimes he was an angel, and sometimes not, Bahar answers. Outside, everyone knew him as a good person, but at home we had it hard… his anger.
Tolga asks if there was violence involved. Bahar nods yes. I promised myself that the person I’d marry would not be prone to violence. That’s how it turned out. Timur never had a tendency towards violence. I wouldn’t have allowed it, but he was never like that. What about psychological violence? Bahar is surprised by that question and doesn’t know how to answer.
Moving on, Tolga asks if her mother defended herself against her father. She did nothing, Bahar says, she had no guarantee of safety. No safe place to go, no support. My mother agreed to everything, never put herself first. Everything revolved around her children and husband. She justified the violence. She felt guilty all her life.
Tolga leans in and tells Bahar—this is your own story. You chose Timur yourself. With everything you experienced before, Timur gave you the sense of security you were looking for. A family was needed to feel secure. Timur is related to resolving what was lacking in your childhood. We can start with that. Bahar is stunned.
Bahar and Timur get together to help Uraz choose items Efsun sent for the groom. Suits and watches. They wonder how they can pay for any of this. She equates Efsun to an extortionist. Mafia. Uraz enters the room in a white tux with black lapels and trim. Beautiful. Bahar gets teary and hugs him. Uraz goes back to his room.
Timur and Bahar reminisce about Uraz’s first suit. He loved it so much he slept in it. Timur laments, where did those days go? She just looks at Timur. She thinks they are marrying Uraz too soon. He says don’t exaggerate. Uraz is not a child. It seems like that to her.
Efsun has arranged magazine articles for the wedding from prep to ceremony. Reporters and photographers come to interview her and Seren. Efsun dominates the interview and interrupts Seren when she tries to give her own opinions. It’s demeaning.
Seren gets up and goes to the kitchen. She speaks with the help. This is a wedding that girls would give their souls for. You might think I’m silly for rejecting it. But I’ve always felt guilty because I didn’t meet their expectations. And now on my wedding day, I feel most guilty. But this is my day. Mine! For once, I want to be seen and have someone by my side. I don’t like showiness and excess. I don’t want people to talk about me.
Cagla arrives at a restaurant and waits for Tolga…and waits… and waits. She’s about to leave when he arrives. Work kept him late. She’s ticked. She waited an hour for him and wants an apology. He tells her he sent a message saying he would be late. Uh oh, it turns out he wrote it but forgot to send it. He asks forgiveness. She forgives.
Then Cagla begins to worry that he will start analyzing her. He says that’s why he doesn’t have a lot of friends. People think he sees right through them. He says he doesn't do that without permission. Do you give botox without asking? She smiles. He says if his girlfriend wants therapy he would send her to a trusted friend. Sometimes a person wants to distance themselves from their profession. To new beginnings!
Day of the wedding. The magazine staff is already at the venue with Efsun.
We know what happened at the wedding… and yuck, Cagla is dressed like a Vegas showgirl!
Lol, Ferdi sounds like he’s doing a comedy act instead of leading a marriage ceremony.
They cut the very beautiful song: Toprak Yağmura/Earth (Soil) to Rain – Can Ozan

I'll try to look at #33 later today.
I’m horrified at these cuts! We are so lucky that you’ve taken the time to give them to us. Your descriptions are so well done that I could visualize the cut scenes!
What valuable background on Bahar’s parents from the Tolga-Bahar meeting. It seems Timur was a good choice at the time due to her background. I guess Rengin made this choice not so good.
I liked Bahar and Timur remembering Uraz’s first suit. They have lots of good family memories.
Did Efsun put that odd button with the others so Rengin would find it? That’s pretty cruel. What’s her end game?
All the details of Efsun being so thoughtless: she is really a schemer!! Now I really liked the wedding ending up out of her hands, at least the part after the ER break! No wonder she looked pouty! Poor Seren to grow up in her orbit.
Babachita
Thank you for adding context to the long version I watched and of which I understood nothing. So does Bahar have a sibling or is it just we being her mom and herself. I guess the cousin that they took in would be another.
I'm glad Reha is interested in Gülçiçek, she deserves a good guy. I'm shocked how well she and Nevra are getting along now. Nevra has certainly turned a leaf for the better in that relationship. I guess they are now united in their dislike of Efsun.
Thanks for the comments, Babachita and Kat.
Kat, I'm not sure if bahar has a sibling. But she used the plural "çocuklar" - "children" when talking about her family.
I know, Gulcicek and Nevra have become frenemies. It gives us some comic relief.
Seren and Uraz come to Bahar’s house with suitcases. They couldn’t take Efsun’s complaints about the wedding any longer. They plan to leave on their honeymoon tomorrow.
Timur comes to Bahar’s house and demands she gives him the sting operation recordings they set up for him and Efsun. That’s what he showed as proof to Rengin that Efsun harassed him and he didn’t cheat.
Here’s some backstory about the deadly virus. A patient comes to the ER who already has a record there. She saw Timur. Bahar checks her file. It says the woman, Revna Gunduzer, is 68 years old. Bahar and Ugur can’t believe it, she looks much younger. Her file says she was there for a small lipoma. Bahar gets Timur.
Timur examines Revna’s arm. There’s a bigger lipoma on her arm. She starts coughing. Timur tells Bahar to take Revna to the OR and do a biopsy. Revna talks about cosmetic surgery and that Bahar should give it consideration. Her age is starting to show.
I think it looked like Bahar pricked her finger while getting the biopsy. Later, Bahar gets called back to the ER. Revna can’t stop coughing and she’s having trouble breathing. Bahar examines her. We saw her test results. Very bad.
Uraz seems to be lost on the way to the honeymoon. Seren asks him to stop because she has to go to the bathroom. She takes off into the woods and runs back out soon after. A wild boar family! The car won’t start. They’ve run out of gas!
Revna’s story is sad. Bahar gives her the bad news and says she might want to contact her loved ones. Revna doesn’t want them to see her this way. And her husband has been cheating on her for the past two years. She didn’t want anyone to know. She always covered for him. They have been together since university. Everyone thinks he’s a loving husband. But no one knows the pain he put her through. She cries, maybe leaving like this is for the best.
Bahar shares her similar story with Revna and tells her not to be so hard on herself. There’s a moment when a person decides to leave. But that’s not the problem… it’s our decision to stay. When you need it, life gives you a second chance. Revna says she knows no other life. Bahar understands. She felt defeated. But when you really want to live… life reaches out to you.
Revna says she takes back what she said about cosmetic work. She tells Bahar she’s a very beautiful woman. She asks for a pen and paper.
Lol, Uraz and Seren get a ride from someone driving a tractor. The only place for them to sit is on the hay bales in his trailer.
Seren and Uraz finally make it to their hotel. There’s no reservation. Seren has a mini meltdown, cursing their bad luck. The hotel realizes their mistake and gives the newlyweds a luxury suite for free.
Rengin goes to the cafeteria to get coffee for the residents. Tolga is there dealing with people who want to know what’s going on. She tells Tolga she came to get coffee but she’s starting to panic. He asks her to sit. She’s hoping to hear from colleagues in America who know about viruses. She is upset because she had an argument with Timur before this happened.
Tolga asks if there’s someone she can call. Timur, she replies, whenever something happens, I always call Timur. I have a daughter but if I call her, she will sense something is wrong. I might fall apart. She confesses, the hospital is a small place, you might have heard, I’m a bit of an edgy person. Reaching this position at a young age came with costs. I became lonely without noticing. I guess I paid the price for it. She apologizes for falling apart like this.
Tolga reassures Rengin. We are allowed to fall apart. It’s natural. In order to be strong, you don’t have to give up your emotions. When I look at you, I always see a very strong woman. And for this strong woman, there is something you can do now. For Timur and Bahar… and even for the residents. Set an example with your strength. She thanks Tolga.
Timur wants to contact Uraz. Bahar says to let him enjoy his honeymoon. He says he’ll call Umay. Bahar says she’s at a study session. She tells him he doesn’t pay attention to the girls’ schedules. She notes he’s so fixated on custody. How will you take care of that girl when she needs her mother the most?
Timur says, don’t make me talk. We saw what you did in the Cem matter. Why are you doing this to me, she asks, what do you want? You can’t be both my hero and my enemy. Choose one. Timur replies, Umay has grown up. There are a couple of years left until she’s of age. Then why the custody case, Bahar asks. Timur fires back, after she turns 18, she’ll run to you. I’m not even on her mind now. Will I come to mind later? I want to be with her for these last few years. Is it a crime? I’ll lose her. Sighs. Silence.
Reha gave Gulcicek the general inspection excuse for Bahar being out of communication. But Gulcicek begins to get suspicious after a while. She calls Bahar. Evren has her phone. He puts it on speaker so Bahar can hear. He tells Gul that they are very busy. Bahar is on a bathroom break. He will tell her to call later. Gul tells Reha she feels better now. He leaves. Gul starts to panic and is determined to find out what’s going on at the hospital.
Cem has been keeping the girls busy by letting them graffiti his bedroom wall.
Tolga calls Cagla and says he can’t meet her. She doesn’t give him a chance to explain and starts ranting about him dumping her. He finally tells her what’s happening. She’s stunned.
Bahar and Timur call Umay. The girls become a little suspicious, but nothing comes of it. Afterwards, Bahar and Timur get very emotional. Neither thought they would end like this. Bahar even feels guilty that Timur might die. He says, let’s not fight anymore. Let’s go nicely, let’s go laughing. I miss our good days. Didn’t we have some beautiful moments?
Flashback to when they were young. Timur chases after her and introduces himself. He heard she takes great notes and asks if she would share them with him. He would pay. No need, she says. He makes some crack about being a chief physician one day and he will look out for her. She gives him the notes but says she will need them too. He tells her to meet him in the cafeteria later. She says he can buy her tea. It’s a deal. End flash.
Present day Bahar and Timur laugh over the memory. He comments, if we met again today… do you think it would be the same? She replies, if we started over again, there would be many things I’d want to do differently but… I don’t know if it would make a difference. I think we would still make mistakes.
Timur tells her—you are not a mistake, Bahar. I’ve made many mistakes, but you are not one of them. Losing you was the biggest mistake. They decide to call the honeymooners, but their phones are off. Timur isn’t surprised. He reminds Bahar—don’t you remember those days? Isn’t it like a film playing in your head? Tövbe, tövbe, Bahar exclaims. She needs water. (literally, repent, repent. Said after someone says something naughty or strange.) Timur says it plays for him. Everything is passing in front of his eyes now. How can she not remember? She says don’t scare me.
Timur comes to Bahar’s bed. He asks her—hakkını helal et. (he’s asking for forgiveness for all the wrong he’s done her intentionally or even unintentionally, so it won’t be against him in the afterlife.) You always made us a family, Bahar. With the children…. With my father… we were a family thanks to you.
What happened to you, Bahar asks, you gave me your liver, not the other way around. Why do you talk like this? I’m not sure, but it’s sweeter this way, he replies. They are both crying. She hugs him. I am still Timur, he tells her. Rengin stops at their window. Bahar notices and backs off.
Rengin asks them how they are. Timur says the fighting is over. She apologizes to him. Bahar asks her, if something happens to me… Umay… well she has my mom, Cagla, her brother, but… Rengin stops her—let’s not talk about this now. She tells Bahar that Gulcicek came and she convinced her to go.
Cagla arrives at the hospital and is denied entrance. She starts shouting that she’s 8 weeks pregnant and bleeding. The guard says he will call an ambulance to take her to the nearest hospital. Don’t call, she shouts, my husband is inside! I can’t go without my husband! She sees Tolga walk through the lobby. She gives the guard Tolga’s name. The guard turns to get Tolga and Cagla runs through the emergency door.
Tolga is upset with Cagla. He told her not to come. It’s a big risk. Then he scolds the guard for allowing her to sneak in. The guard tells him the lie Cagla told him. Tolga sends the guard away with a stern warning. She begs to see Bahar. Tolga relents.
Rengin is upset to see Cagla. She rips into her. Cagla rushes to hug her. Rengin says she’s scared. Cagla tells her they must stay strong.
Parla sees how close Cem and Umay are. She gently tells Umay that it’s late and they should probably leave before the parents come home. Umay wants to take a pic of their work and a selfie with Cem. Parla reminds her that the parents don’t know where they are and wouldn’t be happy. Umay doesn’t care.
Cagla comes to the quarantine window and starts ranting at Bahar. You can’t hide away here! I came to protest this! Timur tells her the situation is serious. She snarks—I know, I was at the same medical school as you. But you know that everyone who comes to me, recovers. If this thing has any sense, it will stay away from us. Stay away! Stay away! Bahar laughs and says, Tolga Hocam, I think you should take this one to bed. Oops, Bahar realizes how that might sound.
Gulcicek sneaks into the hospital through a service entrance.
Evren comes to quarantine. He sees Cagla. She tells him she’s already been scolded. He replies, what took you so long to get here.
They are butchering this show. They’re leaving out significant scenes that give us insight into the characters. This is a huge disrespect to the actors, the writers, and to viewers. I feel like I’m wasting my time watching on Telemundo and would be better off just watching the Turkish episodes. What a shame.
I agree 100%, Dondi. Do you think this will continue throughout or are they trying to reach a place where they can slow down? Maybe it’s because they added another season in the original, and TM is trying to fit it into a two season timeframe? I know they have done cuts in the past, but I’m pretty sure this is the worst.
Are there Turkish episodes with English or Spanish cc on YouTube? Might be better than you having to do all this!
Babachita
Dondi I agree, if only I could find the long version with CC or Spanish dubbing! At least by watching both you can fill us in on the cut scenes. If you have a lot of free time (yeah right) I guess you could do full recaps. Thanks again. I also laughed at the tractor hay wagon ride and wondered if Seren had seen a bear or something. Wild boars can be quite dangerous. Aziz Uras isn't the most handy guy to have around. Running out of gas is pure incompetence. I guess he's portraying the absent minded genius.
Thanks again.
Babachita, I can’t begin to figure out what Telemundo is thinking. We’re in big trouble if they are trying to condense two seasons into one! Episode 53 airs this week in Türkiye. There’s talk about ending the series around New Year. Depends on the ratings and foreign sales.
YouTube has full Turkish episodes but they have no subtitles available. No Turkish, English or Spanish.
You can find Bahar eps with English or Spanish subtitles for free on Dailymotion. But that site has very annoying ads throughout. Adblockers don’t always work. I download eps to watch without ads. The English translations (mostly taken from the Turkish123 site) are often not very good but you can get the idea. Knowing some Turkish is helpful. I haven’t watched with the Spanish subtitles.
Kat, I wish I had time to do 2 hour recaps each day. Maybe if I retire someday. I’m at #34 where Leyla Hala arrives.
My TV schedule has no show tonight. Top Chef gran final is taking up the entire prime time.
Dondi, we'll take whatever you can manage for us. Even just highlights of the cut scenes to help with what I'm watching is so helpful I've seen some spoilers for season 3 while searching for this on YouTube. Unfortunately I can't scroll by without reading! I have no self control.
