Part 1 of 2
Rewind of the meeting with Alya and Cihan and their lawyers. Cihan refuses to stop contesting the divorce. Alya is furious. Cihan tells Erol that he knows Alya, and she won’t use Mine to get the divorce.
Demir tells Zerrin he’s got Sedat under control. No more blood will be spilled.
Sahin calls Nare from the prison land line. Crappy Ozkan eavesdrops. He wants Nare to talk with Zerrin about not marrying Demir. She should use her own miserable marriage as an example.
Alya insists on riding to court in a different car. As they drive away, Sadakat smiles, hoping for good news; i.e., a divorce.
Alya’s lawyer talks about cultural differences and Cihan’s use of force to interfere in her life. He says the marriage is not sustainable. The judge asks if Alya has anything to add. And, just like Cihan predicted, she adds nothing.
Alya’s lawyer produces a witness: Ugur. Ugur says he’s seen Cihan “exercise violence” on Alya in the hospital. The judge asks Alya if Cihan has hit her. She replies that it was not that type of violence. Ugur looks disgusted.
Cihan stands and is perfect. He accepts that their temperaments are different. They haven’t been married long, but they’re learning to understand each other better. He thanks Alya for calling his attention to things he’d not noticed before. He says she’s an excellent wife, a compassionate mother and a respected doctor. He says it’s an honor to be married to her. He uses the metaphor of having a bird in his hand and, while trying to protect her, he could hurt her without meaning to do so. He needs time to repair things. He finishes saying he respects her and also loves her.
We see Ugur and Mine side by side as Alya and Cihan leave. Later Mine has a mini tantrum at home.
Cihan announces to everyone that the judge denied the request for a divorce. Nare and Kaya smile. Ummu and Pakize smile. He tells his mother to stop insisting that Alya divorce him. He says that Alya can’t petition again for two years. [We didn’t hear that in court.]
In their room(s), Alya accuses Cihan of committing a crime by lying in court. He agrees. He says that he and Erol rehearsed his testimony. He spent the night memorizing his script. He says she knows that he doesn’t love her, but she forced him. Then he gets angry about Ugur being there. He asks why she didn’t use the infidelity reason. She kind of ducks her head and doesn’t give a straight answer.
Part 2 of 2
Their conversation is very well written and performed, but this is supposed to be a quickie. She asks Cihan if he’s ever been in love. He nods. But then he says he learned to not love because the people who love lose. “And I’m afraid to lose.” Alya nods, looking sad. At the end of this conversation, he says they’ll stay as they are in separate rooms to sleep. But he’s taking away that chair!
Alyla confides in Nare that Cihan said in court that he loves her and that she’s noble. Nare: “And if it’s true?” Nare thinks so.
Sahin calls Nare again. She remembers Zerrin telling her how Demir is manipulating her with a video that would prove Sahin’s innocence. But Nare was sworn to secrecy by Zerrin and she keeps quiet.
Cihan lays down the law to Sadakat. If she keeps insisting on his divorce, he’s leaving. Despite Alya trying to divorce him, he’s not having it. She says he's obsessed. Sada also says that Ugur testified because he wants Alya. She says Cihan is jealous. She warns him not to harm Ugur. He comes from an important family.
Demir tells Zerrin and Fidan that the wedding will be tomorrow at noon. Zerin says that Sahin’s hearing is tomorrow afternoon. Before she’ll sign the document married people sign in Turkey, he has to send her the video so that she can send it to Sahin’s lawyer. He agrees and says he’s bought her wedding dress.
Zerrin asks Fidan to leave them to speak in private. He insists she wear the white wedding dress he bought. And he won’t marry her unless she wears it. She reminds him about she and Kaya having been “together”. His reply: “Zeyda left her house dressed in white and went to the konak of Cihan.” And Zerrin must do the same.
Cihan takes Alya to work, although she’s grumbling about it. Ugur lurks. Alya is concerned, but Cihan tells her he’s going to have a civilized conversation with Ugur. Cihan tells Ugur he will remember what Ugur did in court. “You’ve been around Alya in the cafeteria and all around the hospital. Don’t cross the line again. It’s inappropriate. I’ll hear about it, and you’ll end up in a bad way.”
Alya has been looking on. Cihan wishes Ugur a good day and leaves.
Ugur says something cryptic. Tú lo pediste. This could be “You asked for it!” and means that he’s not backing off. Or it could be agreeing with Cihan’s request. Anyone else perceive that differently?
Howdy from the Alamo City CarayCaray Family. Here's my super-short recap of last night's episode.
*Ismael & Enfreida start making out. Wake me up when she's preggers.
*Enfreida's daughter knocks on the door & wants to get inside, but Enfreida tells her to go to another adjoining room.
*Crazy Vic, Carlos & Ofelia escape & run somewhere in the outskirts of the DF.
*Angela packing her bags & it appears she is moving out of Lizzie's house & joining Paco. However, I think Angela is making a mistake.
*Ligia & Roberta doing Ligia & Roberta things.
*Rancho violently beats up Leo with a baseball bat, while Tibeiro has La Mamba driven somewhere.
Novelera, thank you for this summary. When Ugur says you asked for it, I figure he will reveal Boran’s real father somehow, since he knows that secret.
This was an important episode because we got to hear Cihan talk about why he doesn’t want a divorce. The bird story was touching. And, of course, he loves Alya. Of course, he denies this later saying he and Erol practiced it, but I, for one, don’t buy that! Best of all was how happy everyone at the konak was to see Alya return except Sadakat! Her smirk was gone!!!

Thanks for a special edition recap, novelera.
There were some unfortunate edits and we are getting scenes out of order from the original. I can’t be sure if some of the edits will show up tonight but here are some that happened before the divorce court:
Crappy Ozkan calls Sada to tell her about the phone call Nare received from Sahin.
They cut Nare’s meeting with Zerrin. Fidan shows up at the meeting. Sada informed her.
Nare goes home and rips into Ozkan or snitching. He accuses her of cheating on their agreement.
Alya apologizes to Ugur at the hospital. He shares his concern over Cihan’s violent behavior. He notes that talking with her like this has the potential for Cihan to attack him.
Mine is lurking nearby. She approaches Alya after Ugur walks away. Mine gives Alya permission to out her relationship with Cihan in court. She doesn’t care if it ruins her reputation or costs her job. She just wants the divorce to happen. She loves Cihan that much.
Alya and Cihan have a conversation the night before court. He tries to mess with Alya’s head. He mocks her laywer. He tells her she should ask for a lot of alimony. He won’t give her any land because the land can’t be split, besides she’s not a smuggler and doesn’t need land. Then he stops her from leaving the room. After a tense few seconds face to face, he tells her, you will not divorce me. She replies, I will divorce.
Alya leaves the room, and the loyal staff are waiting for her outside. They take turns begging her not to divorce. Ummu: please don’t divorce. Don’t destroy our home. Pakize: we love you very much, please don’t do it. Ummu: you’ve become one of us. Muzzafer: yenge, please don’t leave Cihan. Everyone has flaws, Cihan, too. I mean, he shouts and yells but please don’t leave him. Kadir: it’s like he’s shouting at himself. When he shouts it’s not out of malice, Cihan Abi is a good person. Muzzafer: his heart is pure. Kadir: we are in your hands.
Nedim is very upset to find out about Demir’s wedding plans with Zerrin. She’s an Albora! Ha, he also mentions the kidnapping.
Zerrin goes to Demir’s house and that’s where she tells him she was with Kaya. Demir responds, I will bear the sin of this marriage. She’s surprised it’s not a deal breaker. Then she reluctantly agrees to the marriage.
I got the feeling that Seyda wasn't pure when she married Cihan.
Thanks for the edits, dondi. I really appreciate them. I was wondering why they bothered showing Ozkan eavesdropping when there was nothing later showing the point of it.
I would have loved seeing the Albora staff begging Alya not to divorce Cihan. Telemundo made us settle for brief shots of satisfied Albora siblings and two staff.
I can’t thank you ladies enough for recapping this story! I was looking for something new and read a comment under another novela that said this one seemed pretty good and thought I would try it. From the first episode I viewed I’ve been hooked. I’m still trying to sort out names and I heard that it is in 2 seasons. Are we still in season 1 or is this 2? Thank you so much for all your time & work! SaraAnne
We are in Season 1. Don't anyone else look - you will see major spoilers. Season 2 started in Turkiye in September 2025 - I don't know if Telemundo is picking Season 2 up.
THANKS for the info Anastasia, I appreciate that. I started watching about a month ago so at least I’m not too far behind! SaraAnne

Secretos detras de la contrasena – Password secrets
Outside the Yonca Hospital
Cihan and Ugur are discussing in the parking lot, and Alya is watching them from the doorway.
Cihan: We’re talking like two adults. Don’t cross the line. What you’re doing is inappropriate. Know your place and stay away from us. You keep popping up around my wife. In her office, in the cafeteria. (Ugur looks away) Look at me in the eyes when I talk to you. I’m being forthright with you. (He begins again) In the cafeteria, in her office, you’re everywhere. Stay away from her. I’m warning you. If I hear that you’re around my wife, it’ll end badly for you, and you don’t want that. It’s unnecessary. If you don’t care what happens to you or me, at least think of her. (Cihan gestures toward Alya) Remember this is her place of work. You understand? Have a nice day. Bye.
Cihan gets into his car. Ugur says: You asked for it. And he drives off.
Cihan walks into his office, finding Hasan, Kaya, and Erol waiting. They greet one another.
Hasan: Sedat at last accepted the money you offered him. He’s also going to leave Sahin in peace.
Cihan: That was too quick, he must be planning something.
Hasan: How is Halis?
Cihan: That rat’s fighting to get out.
Hasan: If that bas…. gets out, it’ll be a headache for us.
Cihan: Let him try what he wants.
Erol: We need to settle this topic and move on to more important matters. We have a big problem, the case with Sahin. We’re doing all we can, but it’s complicated. I doubt the results will be positive in the hearing tomorrow. We need a miracle.
Kaya: A miracle? What are you talking about? We have to get him released.
Cihan: Kaya, didn’t you hear Erol? He said it’s complicated. What do you suggest? (Kaya has no answer.) Relax and be patient.
Kaya heads out of the room. Cihan: Did you hear me?
Kaya, at the door: Yes, brother, I heard you.
Cihan tells Hasan to follow Kaya and be sure he doesn’t do anything stupid. Thank you.
Hasan: All right, guess I’ll see you later.
Erol: Cihan, how’s Mine?
Cihan makes a bad face: How should I know, Erol? What kind of a question is that? I figured she’d call me 40 times, but she hasn’t, which is strange.
Erol: What if she tries to hurt herself again? You know she’d do it. That woman’s mental state is very unstable.
Cihan: We’ll see, we’ll see. I don’t want to think about that right now.
At the hospital:
Mine is sitting in the hall outside Alya’s office. Alya approaches.
Mine: I’d like to talk.
Alya nods in agreement and goes into her office with Mine following.
Alya: I’m listening.
Mine: Ugur testified in court that you’d been a victim of violence.
Alya: That’s right.
Mine: Though you denied it. If you really wanted a divorce, then why?

Episode 49 #2
Alya: Because it wasn’t true.
Mine: But I’m not a lie. Look at me, I’m sitting right here. I had a relationship with your husband. Why didn’t you want me to testify? Do you not want to divorce Cihan, Alya?
Alya sighs deeply: You know that’s not true, Mine.
Mine: Yes, it is. You know that if I’d testified, Cihan wouldn’t have gotten what he wanted. Didn’t your lawyer tell you? I’m sure he did. Which is precisely why you didn’t call me to testify. Because it was all a farce, wasn’t it? The truth is you never wanted to divorce Cihan.
Alya: Calm down, Mine. If you’d taken the stand, it would’ve been painful. Can’t you see how you would’ve hurt yourself? Can’t you understand it? I didn’t do it, for your good.
Mine is making a strange expression as she hears this.
Alya: Anything else you need, Mine?
Mine: It’s because Cihan said he loves you, isn’t it? That’s why you’re acting like this. Will you follow your husband’s commands now? We’d talked about this. What changed? You were so determined to get divorced. Do you think Cihan’s beginning to have feelings for you? If you’d really wanted, you could have done with this once and for all. But you weren’t capable. You couldn’t do it.
There’s a knock at the door. Alya says: Yes?
An attendant enters telling her that a patient has gotten worse.
Alya: I’ll be right there. (to Mine) You can leave when you like.
In Fidan’s konak.
Cihan approaches, followed by Muzaffer.
Fidan asks her henchie why he let them in.
Zerrin: Mother.
Fidan to Cihan: How do you dare show your face here? What do you want?
Cihan tells henchie to give them a moment alone.
Cihan: I only came to ask how you’re doing.
Fidan: Are you joking, Cihan? Well, we’re all crushed and it’s your fault. Thank you for your concern.
Cihan: Fidan, please, I’m not here to fight, so calm down. We have to fix things. Stop this. We’re family and there’s no need for this. I’m begging you.
Fidan: Now is when you remember?
Cihan: Fidan, Sahin is like my brother and Zerrin’s like my sister. You think I want you to suffer? I don’t. But I’ll get to the point. From now on, Sedat’s not going to touch Sahin. He won’t go near him. Plus, I’ll do all I can to get him out of prison. I swear I will protect him. That’s not going to change.
He nods at Zerrin and continues: Listen, Kaya really loves her.
Fidan: You know if would never work.
Cihan: He’s impulsive and reckless, but everything he did was for love. Enough of this.
At the Albora konak
We see Alya enter her suite finding Muzaffer and someone else installing a new mattress.
Alya: Cihan ordered this? Why?
Muzaffer: We’re just following orders.
Cihan walks in: What’s going on here?
Muzaffer: We changed out the bed.
Alya wants an explanation. Cihan tells the henchies to leave.
Cihan: Thanks for your help, now get out.
Alya: Explain yourself. Why’d you change it?
Cihan: You said you wouldn’t sleep in that bed, so we brought you a new one. Don’t you like it?
Alya: Did I ask you for a bed? I’m very comfortable in my chair (as she points, she notices that her chair is no longer there). It’s gone! Where is my chair?
Cihan: Why do you need that chair?
Alya: What do you mean why do you need it? I slept there and you took it. Where is it?
Cihan: You’re obsessed with that chair. Look, you’ve got a new mattress.

Episode 49 #3
Alya: But I never asked you for that. I want my chair back.
Cihan: I threw it out.
Alya can’t believe what she’s hearing: You threw out my bed without asking me?
Cihan: It’s my chair, my right. Alya, sleeping there isn’t good for you and I won’t allow it. Sleep like a normal person. Stretch your feet and rest. This is much better, OK? I don’t want another word about this. You will sleep here. You said you wouldn’t sleep in my bed, so there you go. I bought you a mattress. (He sees the locket on the nightstand.) And that locket I bought you for your birthday, so no more of this.
Alya: What are you talking about? No more of what?
Cihan: You haven’t worn it for days. It has a picture of your son, and it should be around your neck. You’re hurting Cihan.
Alya: Deniz.
Cihan, signals his disagreement: His name is Cihan.
They stare at one another for a while.
Cihan leaves, muttering: Please. The nerve to want your chair back.
Alya throws her handbag on the mattress and leaves the room.
Yonca hospital
Mine and Ugur meet at the entrance. He asks how she is, and she indicates not well. He invites her to join him for dinner. Mine agrees.
Ugur: We can take my car. It’s in the parking lot.
Back at the konak.
Cihan knocks on the door and enters. He sees Alya sleeping on what looks like a duvet on the floor.
He asks Allah for patience. She finally awakes. He tells her to sleep on the bed.
Alya: It’s the middle of the night.
Cihan: Get up and get in bed.
Alya: What’s your problem. Leave me alone.
Cihan: You’re not sleeping on the floor. Get up and sleep on the bed I got for you.
Alya: Go to your bed and stop bothering me.
He takes her by the arms and throws her on the bed. This get a rise out of her and they continue to yell at one another.
She tells him she isn’t going to sleep there. Does he want to see who’s more stubborn? She wants her chair back.
Alya: If you give the chair back, I’ll sleep on the bed.
Cihan: You’ll sleep on the bed?
Alya agrees.
They shake on it, but he again grabs her and throws her on the bed, covering her with the red blanket.
Cihan: Alya!
All of a sudden, Me esta doliendo starts playing and they stare into each other’s eyes. Cihan appears to be tempted to take advantage and then fights this desire.
Cihan: Alya: You’re going to sleep here. I’m leaving. If I don’t find you sleeping here when I get back, we’re going to have a problem. Don’t try me, you hear me?
As soon as he lets go, she jumps up.
Cihan: Don’t get up. It’s the last thing I’ll say.
She yells after he leaves: I won’t do it.

Episode 49 #4
At a restaurant, Mine and Ugur are dining.
Ugur: Sure, it’s a fake marriage, but if so, then why’d Cihan say that in court?
Mine: We discussed this, Ugur. They had to get married to protect Alya’s son. There’s also a will involved, but the marriage isn’t real, so there’s nothing to worry about. I know they’ll continue the divorce process. Don’t worry.
Ugur: I don’t get it. Why are you telling me this?
Mine smiles: You don’t need to pretend around me. We can speak frankly. We all know you like Alya.
Ugur: What does that mean?
Mine: Look, Ugur, it bothers you as much as me that they didn’t get divorced. Don’t deny it. We’re on the same side, so admit it.
Ugur: They’re in love. It was clear to me in court. Cihan begged the judge not to divorce them.
Didn’t you see him? He said: I love my wife very much. The moment that Cihan said that Alya’s eyes lit up.
Mine laughs: You think so? Are you serious?
She gets that look in her eye and breaks her plate in the restaurant: So they’re in love huh? Did you analyze them? She continues throwing tableware on the floor and has food in her hair: It’s a fake marriage! You were there. So they love each other, huh? More food, plates, glasses are thrown on the floor. Ugur struggles to get up.
Mine: Answer me.
Ugur: Mine, Calm down. Get a hold of yourself. Just breathe.
She has her head on the table now, still yelling: I can’t take it anymore! I don’t believe it.
Ugur: Calm down, breathe. You’ll hurt yourself.
Mine: I can’t take it!
Cihan (in his den) gets a phone call from Mine. He makes that negative gesture and doesn’t want to answer it but finally does.
Ugur: Listen, It’s Ugur. You have to come immediately. (We can hear Mine yelling in the background.) Please, Cihan, she isn’t well. I’ll send you the location.
We see Mine, head on the table looking down, clenching both fists, in the midst of all the broken plates, food, etc. Cihan walks in.
Where is she?
Ugur: Where? There! He points to Mine. I didn’t think you were this sadistic, Cihan. What’s wrong with you? Do you like torturing all the women in your life?
Cihan: What are you saying? Leave me alone, will you?
Cihan: Mine, Mine.
Mine: Take me home. I’m cold.
Cihan: OK, let’s go. Come on. Did you bring an overcoat?
Mine: Yes, in the car.
Ugur watches them leave, looking very frustrated.
He asks the staff: Do you mind cleaning this up? He sits at the table, thinking. He pulls out his phone and dials Alya, leaving this message: Sorry to bother you so late, but Cihan is with Mine right now.

Episode 49 #5
Meanwhile, Cihan is walking Mine to her apartment, and covers her up. She tells him she has a migraine.
The doorbell rings.
It’s Alya.
Cihan: What are you doing her?
She asks him what he’s doing there.
Alya: You’re still lying to me. You didn’t end this relationship and you’re still cheating on me, right?
He invites her in. Here’s your answer.
She sees Mine on the couch.
Alya: What happened?
Cihan: No, do you understand why I’m here? She had a nervous breakdown and I brought her home. What was I supposed to do?
Cihan: Who told you I was here?
He guesses Ugur. Alya says that doesn’t matter.
He leaves the room and Mine immediately sits up: What are you doing? Why the hell did you come to my house? You’re dying of jealousy, right?
Alya tries to calm her.
Mine: If you came to see for yourself, you’ve done it. Cihan came back. Things didn’t end between us, Alya.
Alya: Please don’t do this to yourself. Stop. Think about it. Anyone who found you in this state would help you. Stop lying to yourself. He just told me that your relationship ended and you’re not well, Mine.
Mine: And you believed him? If it was over, would he have brought me home?
Alya: Stop lying to yourself. Look what you’ve become. I asked for a divorce. I did all I could to divorce Cihan. And I protected you during the whole case. I was with you, so stop hurting yourself.
Mine: We talked about this. He did it for your son. You didn’t get divorced and you accepted that.
Alya: What you’re saying is true, but do you really believe he loves you, Mine? You think he’s in love?
Mine: He doesn’t love me? Is that what you think? You think he loves you?
Alya: It’s not about that. I don’t believe in anything anymore. Stop hurting yourself.
Mine grabs her arm: Don’t go, I’m not finished yet.
Alya: What’s wrong with you?
Mine: Now I feel for you. I look at you and I feel sorry for you because you remind me of myself. I waited for him to love me for years. You’re right, he never loved me. He never could. The bad news is that he’ll never love you either.
Alya: You’re crossing the line.
Mone: He can’t love anyone who isn’t Meryem, Alya.
Alya looks back, confused: Meryem?
Mine: The password for the USB of Boran. Meryem.
Alya: What are you talking about? What does that mean?
Mine: Boran knew that there wasn’t room in Cihan’s heart for anyone else. He says as much in the video. Didn’t you watch it?
Alya: No, Mine.
Mine: Fine, then allow me to show you.
Alya: I don’t want to see it.
Mine: Come, see the truth for yourself. Boran knew that Cihan’s heart belonged to someone else, which is why he was certain he wouldn’t have feelings for you. Cihan also told me that Meryem’s the only woman he could ever love. How else do you think I figured out the password? Here, look. This’ll clear up your questions.
The video starts playing with Boran speaking: Marry Alya. I know that I have no right to ask you this. If you managed to open this video, it’s because that woman is still in your heart.
Alya is impactada at this.

Episode 49 #6
At Ugur’s apartment, he answers the door (big mistake). It’s Cihan. He head buts him and punches him: I told you not to provoke me. Punching to emphasize each point, over and over.
Two neighbors come out to see what’s going on. What wrong with him? They call the police.
Cihan opens the exit to leave: You like attention, don’t you?
At the konak, Alya arrives in the truck. She tells Ummu and Pakise that Cihan isn’t answering calls. Is he back, she asks?
No, they tell her.
Alya: Why are you awake at this hour? Did something happen?
Ummu: Mr. Cihan’s been detained.
Alya: He beat up Ugur, didn’t he?
Ummu: Yes.
Alya: How is he?
Ummu: Fortunately, he’s fine. But Ugur pressed charges against Mr. Cihan. Everybody’s with him. Hopefully he’ll be released soon.
Alya: Hopefully.
At the Midyat police station
Muzaffer and Sadakat are waiting outside. Ugur, Kaya and Cihan finally emerge. Cihan is putting his jewelry back on.
Sadakat: What happened?
Kaya; It’s not a big thing. The problem is that he’s pressing charges.
Sadakat: I don’t believe it.
Kadir: I’m glad it was settled.
Erol (Does this man get any sleep?): Thankfully the fiscal didn’t intervene. They only took his statement. We managed to avoid a trial.
Kaya hands Cihan a big handgun.
Sadakat: What are you doing Cihan? Look at that man’s face. (Ugur’s face shows the results of Cihan’s beatdown.)
Cihan does his little sneering lip motion. Ugur stares at him.
Sadakat: You pulverized him. Why did you brutally attack him? Because of the evil woman, I imagine. It was obvious that this would happen, Cihan. Can’t you see that you’re aways getting in trouble? [I wonder if she realizes who Ugur’s father is?]
Cihan watches Ugur’s vehicle depart. He tells Sadakat to stay out of it.
He calls on her henchie, Seymuz, to drive them home.
Sadakat. Will this never end? [My question, exactly!]
At the konak, Alya is watching them arrive from her favorite balcony. Sadakat stares up at her as she leaves the vehicle. They all walk back in. Alya is thinking hard, probably about what Mine told her.
Sadakat pounces as soon as she reaches Alya: What did you do for that doctor and my son to get in a fight?
Alya: What, Ma’am? What are you accusing me of? What could I have done?
Cihan: Go inside, Mom.
Sadakat, with pointed finger: That doctor testified in your favor in court, didn’t he?
Alya: Yes.
Sadakat: Why is that man interested in you?
Alya: What are you insinuating? What are you accusing me of? Why can’t you ever leave me alone? You think you have the right to always bother me?
Sadakat: Yes, of course I do. Don’t forget that I am your husband’s mother.
Alya: Oh, really? Then that means I’m your daughter-in-law and as such, deserve respect. I’m leaving.
Sadakat: Cihan, your wife must stay away from that man.
Cihan rolls his eyes and walks off.

In their suite, Cihan: Let me explain how it all happened, OK? You should hear it from me. Mine and Ugur went out to dinner, Mine suffered a nervous breakdown and the guy called me. You know she previously attempted suicide, so I was worried, and showed up and then took her home. But nothing else happened.
Alya: OK.
Cihan: But, that bas… has bad intentions. I’m certain that Ugur is up to something. Why did he have to let you know? It means he’s got a plan. Think about it for a moment. Now do you understand why I told you to stay away from him?
Cihan goes to leave.
Alya: Cihan. I’d like to ask you something.
Cihan: Go ahead.
Alya: Mine loves you. Why didn’t you ever love her back? Do you really not feel anything for her?
Cihan: How many times do I have to explain? Why are you beating a dead horse? Why are you so unrelenting with this? You’re not going to answer me. I’m exhausted and I’d like to rest in my room. Excuse me.
FLASHBACK: Mine: I look at you and I feel sorry for you because you remind me of myself. I waited for him to love me for years. He never could. The bad news is that he’ll never love you, either. He can’t love anyone who isn’t Meryem, Alya.
Alya is lost in thought as Me esta doliendo plays.
At the konak, Cihan tells Kaya, sitting on the stairs, it’s time to go.
Kaya: Do you know when the hearing will be?
Cihan: We still have time, but we should go to the office, first. Cihan’s phone rings. It’s Mine: I called you from a different number so we could talk.
Cihan: I’m hanging up, Mine.
Mine: Wait. I’m sorry about what happened yesterday. But don’t forget that I’m not the one who called Alya and caused this mess. It was Ugur. He likes Alya very much, and I think they make a nice couple.
Cihan hangs up.
We see Ozkan getting in his vehicle to drive off when he notices Nare getting into her car. He follows her.
At the Midyat Penitentiary:
Sabin is pacing in the common room. Halis tell him to calm down. You’ll be released, you’ll see. Then it will be my turn.
Sahin: You might get out, but it’s not that simple for me.
Ecmel: Sahin, I know they’ll release you. Tonight, you’ll be home with your mother.
Sahin: It’s all very clear, don’t you think? Don’t be such an optimist, Dad.
Ecmel: When have I ever lied to you, son?
Sahin: Is there something I don’t know, Dad?
Ecmel: Of course not, Sahin. The lawyers are working on getting you out. Instead of fretting the details, think about what you’ll do when you finally get out. Our family depends on you now, Sahin. Look, Halis is in here, too. And Cihan’s still trafficking merchandise.
We see Ozkan lurking outside a building. He sees Nare telling several henchies she came to see Demir Baybars.
Babachita
Episode 49 #8
Alya is preparing to leave her room. She notices that Cihan isn’t in his room.
FLASHBACK: Alya to Nare: Do you know the mezzanine of the konak? There is a room on it that I just noticed. I asked Ummu what it was, and she said it was your brother’s room. (Nare nods yes.) Is he hiding something bad?
Nare: My brother doesn’t bring anything home from work. Why does it concern you?
Alya: I actually thought he was hiding something from the past.
Alya, after this flashback, answers to herself: Meryem.
She goes to the room, but it is locked.
Demir meets Nare on the street in front of his home.
Demir: Nare, what brings you here?
Nare: I want you to call off your wedding to Zerrin.
Demir: Oh, so you know. And here I thought it was a secret.
We see that they are being watched by Demir’s father Nadim from above.
Nare: Please don’t do this. She doesn’t love you and you know it. She’s doing it for her brother. Please, I’m begging you, give me the recording so I can take it to the DA so Sahin can get out and all this can end.
We see Ozkan watching and listening to all this. He says to himself: You kept quiet for Sahin, Nare.
Demir tells Nare he will give the USB to Fidan, after the signatures. You can bury it if that’s what you want.
Come to court together, he invites them. What do you say?
Nare: I know you are doing this to get revenge for what happened with Seyda.
Demir: Yes, and I want everyone to know.
Nare: But what happened is not my brother’s fault. He begged Seyda to divorce him.
Demir: You’re lying.
Nare: Of course not, she opposed the divorce. Seyda never wanted to leave him because she fell in love with my brother.
Demir is very impactado hearing this.
Demir: No, she only loved me. (He walks toward her in a threatening manner, and Nare keeps backing up.)
Nare: Demir, she told me so herself. Seyda admitted that she was in love with my brother.
Demir, in a threatening manner: Stop lying! It’s a lie! I’ll never believe you. If that’s true, why did she try to kill Cihan?
Nare: Because my brother didn’t love her back. When she realized it, she killed herself. I’m telling the truth, Demir. It’s true, that’s how everything happened.
Demir: Nare, stop lying to me.
Nare: I swear I’m telling the truth.
Demir: You’re saying this to change my mind. You want me to stop!
Nare: That’s not the reason. What I’m saying is true
Demir: I’m going to marry, Zerrin, understand? And I’ll make you all suffer like they did to me.
Babachita
Episode 49 #9
Nare: I’m not trying to trick you. I swear I’m telling you the truth. It’s got nothing to do with Zerrin or Sahin. Your problem is with my brother. But he’s got nothing to do with it either, you must understand.
Demir: Get out of here!
Nare: You need to believe me, Demir.
Demit strikes out at Nare: Get out!
Nare: What I’m saying is true and someday you’ll realize it.
Demir: Get out of here before I lose control.
Nare: How long will you keep lying to yourself? I feel sorry for you.
He tells her to leave. Ozkan stays hidden. She watches them all leave and finds Ozkan at the bottom on the hill.
Ozkan: What a shame. You couldn’t convince him and you didn’t get the recording, and now they’re getting married. You are doing this because of Sahin, right?
Kaya gets a call from Ozkan:
Kaya: What do you want? I’m busy.
Ozkan: Listen carefully, your beloved Zerrin is about to get married.
Kaya: What? Don’t be stupid?
Ozkan: If you don’t believe me, ask Nare. In fact, she knew, but she chose to keep it from you.
Kaya: What are you talking about?
Ozkan: It’s taking place at Midyat City Hall. Demir and Zerrin are getting married.
Kaya can’t believe it: This must be a joke. They can’t get married. I’ll kill them!
Kaya runs down the stairs.
Muzaffer: What’s going on, Kaya? Cihan and Erol are walking down the stairs: Where are you going?
Kaya runs and gets into a car, closely followed by Kadir.
Cihan’s phone rings. It’s Nare: Zerrin’s marrying Demir. The wedding’s today in Midyat and Kaya just found out.
At Midyat Civil Registry
Demir gets out of a van, followed by Fidan and Zerrin in wedding garb.
At the prison, we see Sahin arrive in a police vehicle.
At the wedding:
The officiant: Zerrin Albora and Denir Baybars have requested to be joined in holy matrimony. After reviewing the matter, I’ve found no legal impediment. If you express your verbal consent, before the gathered witnesses, I will proceed to formalize your marriage. He asks each if the agree. Zerrin takes a while to answer.
Meanwhile Kaya bursts into the room. Henchies take him out and Cihan and his guys also take him.
Damir is smiling and enjoying this.
Cihan tells Kaya this is not the time.
Kaya asks Zerrin to speak to him.
She leaves the stage and listens to him. He asks about her brother, Sahin.
Zerrin: If I don’t marry Demir, Sahin will stay in prison.
Kaya starts to see what’s going on.
Cihan looks shocked.
Demir looks like he swallowed the canary.

Babachita
Excellent recap, Babachita! I’m down with a virus, so I’m pretty fuzzy-brained, but still I’m all het up about everything that went on in this episode. For one thing, Cihan forcing Alya into the bed, yanking her down. She’s a grown woman and can sleep where she wants to. Major controlling behavior plus use of force- red flags galore.
Also when Mini goes nuts in the restaurant, she gets labeled an unstable woman. When Cihan goes nuts and pounds Ugur, the implication is aw, look, he’s in love and jealous.
Ugur may have his own romantic designs on Alya but he also sees that Cihan is using force on her, and that he’s been cruel to Mine.
Maggie
Maggie, you are right. The only way I watch this is to suspend my beliefs and to try and see it in the culture of where it is set. It’s a stretch for me to do this. I think Cihan is better than most but has no sense of how women should be treated. Their location is so insular. They don’t have modern mores. I hate that Zerrin has to be sacrificed for her brother.
Yet, I still like Cihan. Perhaps it is the actor. I like that he is attracted to Alya who is very much not a shrinking violet. Speaking of non-meek women, both Sadakat and Fidan have become formidable as they matured, perhaps to gain some control in the world their men have wrought.
Mine always irritated me. I saw their relationship as friends with benefits, not as love. When Mine wanted more, Cihan wasn’t interested. Her constant popping up and eavesdropping were annoying to me. I felt sorry when she had the restaurant breakdown, though.
I really hate Cihan beating up Ugur. He should be above this. Rising above it would be more appealing to Alya. It shows that he feels very threatened, not really an Alpha male with supreme self-confidence. And, we know that Cihan didn’t want this job. Boran was the designated leader. Cihan wanted to be a musician IIRC. The environment has created a flawed strongman from the free spirit that Cihan was.
Just some thoughts. Hope your virus subsides soon. Glad to know you’re here.
Babachita
Great recap, Babachita. You covered it all as usual.
Welcome, SaraAnne.
“[I wonder if she realizes who Ugur’s father is?]” Yes, Sada knows. But she doesn’t know that Ugur’s father shared his memory of Sada before he left. IIRC, Alya told Cihan that Ugur questioned her about Boran and Cihan’s paternity and I think he told Sada. Sada and Cihan both have strong reasons for wanting Ugur gone.
“Demir looks like he swallowed the canary.” Lol, I had a vision of Demir coughing up a few feathers! Demir is awful but he’s a very entertaining villain to me. Kind of how I felt about Yekta in Secretos.
I don’t know why they continually cut scenes with the konak staff. This time they were secretly making trays of walnut baklava to distribute because there was no divorce. Very amusing interplay between them. They almost got caught when loading Kadir’s truck. Deniz was running around with some baklava when Alya returned home. I can’t totally understand Deniz’s speech, but he said they made the sweets because she (Alya) did something. Sada showed up and Kadir had to make a quick getaway. They told Sada that he was called to the factory. Once Sada left, Ummu said to Alya, May Allah accept it. May Allah allow you and Cihan Bey grow old on one pillow, inshallah. I pray for this every day. Alya frowned and walked away.
Hi Maggie, I hope you’re feeling better soon. Mine is clearly not well. There’s no way to minimize that. I’m certainly not saying “aw, look” at Cihan. His inability to deal with his feelings has led to behavior that is reproachable. Do you think the writers are trying to generate sympathy for Cihan and none for Mine? I have some sympathy and some irritation for both.
I pretty much agree with your assessments, Babachita. They are showing us the culture of the area. Perhaps I’ve seen too many dizis/movies of this type to be shocked.
Thanks so much, Babachita. Your detailed conversations are always wonderful.
How did Mine know that Cihan said "I love you" in court? IIRC she mentioned that before Ugur spoke his piece in the restaurant. Yes, Mine is not right in the head. I see that most of you feel some sympathy for her. I barely have any. Six years clinging to a man who doesn't love you? I prefer women with backbone and self-esteem.
Babachita, you wrote that Demir said he'd give the USB with the video of the shooting of Mahmut after the signatures in the wedding book. Does this mean that Zerrin was willing to trust him? I clearly remember her saying she wouldn't sign until the video was sent.
Ozkan lurks and watches Demir very close to violence and does nothing to protect Nare. We know that he's helping Demir launder money. Please, writers. Give me some consequences for this piece of caca!
I haven't watched dizis as long as dondi, for sure. But I've seen a decent number of them since Telemundo signed a deal with at least one, maybe more, Turkish companies. I'm not as hard on Cihan. It probably wasn't wise to beat up Ugur, but texting Alya late at night to try to make her believe Cihan is being unfaithful with mine is just SO low.
I'm also a bit on Cihan's side about the bed. Alya is being ridiculous. There was nothing wrong with the bed that was there before. If the sheets had been changed, she wasn't exactly sleeping in Cihan's body odors. And it's a stupid plot device that a medical professional could effectively do their job after a night curled up like a pretzel.
Once again Kaya escapes death or a beatdown at the hands of Demir's large group of thugs, thanks to Cihan's arrival. One thing dizis share with telenovelas is the speed at which people get from place to place. I live mid-peninsula in the Bay Area. A couple of weeks ago, I drove down to waay south San Jose for book club that was to begin at 6 PM. That's 26 miles of freeway driving. I left a 5:05 and didn't get there until 6:20!
Dondi, what fun that you mentioned Yekta! He was a masterful villain, for sure! Now the image of Demir coughing up feathers is forever in my mind!!!
Babachita
They're showing previews of a new telenovela entitled Lobo: Morir Matando. Not sure if it will be at the 9PM or 10PM hour. Looks pretty violent. I do like Arap Bethke, though. We'll see.
#50 – Part 1 of 4
Kaya bursts into an auditorium where the dismal wedding of Demir and Zerrin is ready to start. Sometimes I pity Fidan, but not tonight. She orders Demir’s goons to ¡Sáquenlo! (throw him out). As I noted in my recent comment, dizi heroes get around fast. Cihan comes right in and tries to calm Kaya. Kaya asks Zerrin to give him a minute, while Fidan begs her daughter to think of her brother. [He’s clearly the one who is important for this vestige of the 19th century.]
Zerrin goes to Kaya. She tells him sort of between clenched teeth that, if she doesn’t marry Demir, Sahin will stay in prison. [Take a picture of Demir’s evil grin for my shooting gallery, if I had one.] Zerrin asks Kaya to please leave.
Kaya shouts that she can’t leave him. Nare says that Demir has a recording that could save Sahin. Kaya and Cihan are impactados. Nare continues saying that, if they marry, he’ll present the recording to the court. If they don’t marry, Sahin will stay in prison. Cihan tells Zerrin she doesn’t have to do it. Fidan says that Sahin won’t get out. Despite all he’s seen in life, Cihan appeals to Demir to be a human being for once in his life. Just give me the video.
Demir asks him how it feels that someone comes to take the person you most love. We get an evil laugh. Cihan says that Demir has a problem with him; why do this to his brother? Demir’s guys get the Alboras out of there.
Kaya is uncontrollable outside. He shouts at Nare that she knew. She stabbed him in the back. Nare says exactly the wrong thing. "But Sahin wasn’t going to get out of prison." Kaya tells Nare she’s not his sister anymore. Kaya keeps struggling and screaming. He wants to go back in there. Cihan hits him in the head with the butt of his gun. He then slings the unconscious Kaya over his shoulder. [This is a strong actor, in more ways than one.]
Cihan calls Alya. We don’t hear what he says, but we see her shocked face. She heads for the konak.
We get the classic. The officiant asks if she accepts Demir Baybars as her husband. She has a memory of being with Kaya at his hideout. She looks at her mother and, of course, accepts. Zerrin stares at her mother and signs the marriage book. Thanks, Telemundo, for playing a sad Turkish song instead of that which shall not be mentioned. There’s a whole 5 people in attendance.
Mine, who reminds me more and more of a lingering head cold, pursues Alya from the hospital. She wants to know if Alya told Cihan what Mine divulged about Meryem. Hearing she hadn’t, Mine shows some weak gratitude. She knows how Cihan would resent that. But then, with a nasty little sneer, Mine says that Alya is dying of curiosity, but she isn’t going to tell her more.
#50 – Part 2 of 4
We get a bit of a scare in court. The prosecutor is finishing up his closing arguments, saying that they have Sahin’s fingerprints on the weapon. The judge asks Sahin’s response. He just stands there looking miserable. I wonder if Demir betrayed him. Just then Sahin’s lawyer receives the recording of the shooting on his phone. He rises to his feet saying he’s received some fundamental evidence. Sedat is sitting there, and the pleased look on his face becomes an angry one.
Alya arrives. Cihan tells her what he had to do to control his brother. Kaya babbles about needing to go for Zerrin. Alya injects him with something to put him to sleep. Alya asks about Nare. Cihan says that she left after Kaya started yelling at her. Alya says that Nare tried to protect Sahin.
Cihan tells Alya that the marriage is now official. Alya says she’ll give Kaya another dose later so he can sleep (and not think about Zerrin}. Holding Kaya’s hand, Cihan tells Alya what happened at the ceremony. He couldn’t let Kaya run after Zerrin. Alya is very sympathetic. She goes on to say that Kaya will overcome this because he has a family. He has Cihan. Just before she leaves the room, Alya almost puts a comforting hand on Cihan, backs off, and then eventually does so. She tells him not to blame himself for this. She does have to go back to the hospital for a while for something she left undone.
At the Baybars konak, Demir asks Zerrin to enter. Nadim is sitting there and looks up. Demir says he brought him his daughter-in-law. Nadim looks at Zerrin and says and does nothing.
Alya enters the hospital cafeteria and sees Ugur. She approaches and tells him she hopes he gets better soon. Ugur asks if this (his beating) surprised her. “I thought you were used to your husband’s behavior.” Alya tells him she’s sorry what happened to him. Then she cheers me up. “Sending a message like that, you should have realized what Cihan’s reaction would be.” Ugur gets testy, saying Cihan doesn’t have any other way to communicate. Alya replies that Ugur should have known that Cihan wouldn’t leave Mine in that state and would take her home. Sending her a message that could have been misinterpreted was really inappropriate. He doesn’t give up easily and asks why she didn’t ignore his text. Why didn’t she, if she trusts Cihan? Alya: “This matter is not your problem. I don’t understand why you’d do a thing like that.
He says he only wants to help her. [Hah!] He says she shouldn’t get used to this. She might regret it. While she’s trying to save her son’s life, he doesn’t want her to fall into a deeper abyss. “What do you mean?” Just then Ugur gets called away.
Fidan and Nare (definitely not side by side) are at the courthouse when Sahin comes out, apparently free. He asks where Zerrin is. “Is it true she married to save me?” Fidan says they had no other option. He had the recording and, if Zerrin hadn’t married him, he wouldn’t have given it up. “How could you hide this from me?” He turns to Nare and intuits that she also knew, even after he directly asked her.
#50 – Part 3 of 4
Sahin jumps in a car, pushing Fidan away. The ubiquitous Ozkan is there looking on. Nare confronts him. He says he wanted to see what she’s capable of. Cihan drives up. He tells Ozkan to come closer. Ozkan wimps out and starts to run. Cihan easily catches him, head butts him, hits him, and is going for his gun when Nare says he isn’t worth it. Cihan: “I don’t want to see you with him for the rest of your life. Otherwise I’ll commit murder.”
Sahin pushes past the Baybars guards and confronts Demir, calling him maldito infeliz. Zerrin runs into her brother’s arms. Sahin: “What did you do? Now you’re the prisoner.” He takes Zerrin by the hand and starts walking. Nadim actually speaks up. “Let her go.” Demir says no one can interfere; she’s his wife now. Sahin and Zerrin keep walking. Demir’s 5 or 6 thugs start to beat up Sahin. Demir’s father, who apparently isn’t the head of his family, just looks on. Zerrin begs Demir to make the beating stop. Sahin still tries to get her to leave, but Zerrin tells him she made a deal, and she has to stay. She tenderly tells him he always protected her. “If you’re in prison a part of me dies.”
[Here’s where my good old Midwestern common sense interjects. What? The video shown the judge proves he didn’t murder Mahmut. Zerrin, give Demir a middle finger and leave! Don’t they have anything like the 5th Amendment in Turkey (no double jeopardy)?]
Nadim continues to stand there and let this happen. He knows what a swine Demir is and he’s supposed to be the head of the family. Sahin finally walks slowly away.
Cihan arrives home with Nare. At first Sadakat, always right there, of course, greets her daughter pleasantly. Cihan calls out to Ummu, asking her to get Nare’s room ready. She’ll be here from now on. Sada starts to say something, but Cihan tells her later. He asks Nare to go see Kaya. When she hesitates, he orders her to do so.
The crappiest mother in Turkey pipes up and tells her son that Nare’s place is with Ozkan. “Look what happened with Kaya. If Nare stays here, she’ll end up with Sahin, and you know it" [And that’s a bad thing because Sahin’s father is Ecmel. And hating Ecmel is more important to Sadakat than her children.] Cihan says that that miserable Ozkan can’t even be called a husband. Nare will never return to Ozkan. Do you hear me?
Nare comes to see Kaya. He’s plenty drugged up, but he apologizes (for saying she was no longer his sister). They embrace. Alya and Cihan look on.
#50 – Part 4 of 4
Alya is heating some milk in the kitchen. Cihan comes to thank her for helping Kaya. She’s in favor of his bringing Nare home. He hopes that Sada will agree. Alya smiles and says that would mean a revolution. It’s nice to see these two smiling at each other. He had warned her, but she got distracted and burned her hand. He puts her hand under cold water and then examines it. They’re very close, and we see a very intense look from Cihan. She gets a bit nervous and says she’ll go put cream on the burn.
We see Zerrin looking like she’s ready to be burned at the stake. Demir takes off his jacket and approaches. Zerrin’s eyes are closed. He orders her to open them. She does not and tells him to just do what he must do.
Alya has found her same old chair. Cihan gets salty when he sees it. He says he was trying to do something for her. She says she can’t do it (sleep in that bed?). He asks her to accept the way things are. He hasn’t looked at her [yes, he has]. He hasn’t come near. He hasn’t touched her. He leaves and broods on the balcony.
Alya has found a key to Cihan’s man cave and goes down there. She snoops around for a bit. Then she finds a DVD under a lovely carved wooden box. She puts it in the drive and plays it.
It’s a celebration. When are starting to do that ceremonial men’s dance. It’s Cihan, Boran, Muzaffer and Kaya at about 10 or 11 years old. A veiled bride appears. Boran claps Cihan on the shoulder. Just then a guy with his face covered runs up and shoots Azem Albora point blank. [I’m kind of surprised the guy covered his face and looked young. They’d said earlier on that a Baybars killed Azem. I thought the killer was Demir’s uncle and thus not as young as this guy looks.]
Cihan comes in just at the end. Alya: “They killed your father that day. Whose wedding was it?” Cihan replies that it was his. Alya: “The woman in your heart, is she Meryem, like Boran said in the recording?" Cihan: “It was my wedding day, Alya.” Alya: “Meryem, the password.”
I also want to welcome you SaraAnne. Nice to have you with us. Yes, this dizi is very gripping.
