MONTEVERDE #75, Part 1of 3

Carolina is asking Oscar why they should wait? She wants him to take her back with him to Monteverde! Oscar regretfully says that it won’t work. She worries about going to jail but he tells her they are going to live in love happily ever after. She waltzes off as he smiles away.

Erika and the boys are still working on Lucas to allow them to stay with her. They plead and against (my) better judgement, he agrees! Erika thanks him…

Poor Lucia is worried about the surgery as Rosalia supports her. You aren’t alone she tells her. Rosalia asks if she has told Franco. No is the answer, he has the baby and his own issues she says sadly.

Juan David is getting feedback on his campaign and it doesn’t seem positive. Father Gabriel gives advice from his sick bed…

Celeste hands Andres her phone so he can call Carolina. Oscar gets a call from Lucas at the same time. Celeste questions Carolina but Lucas (unbelievably) doesn’t tell Oscar that the boys have taken up residence at Erika’s, at least for the moment. Erika is sitting with Moises on the edge of his bed as Andres climbs in the other bed. She tells them a bedtime story…

Carolina (in her habit) and Oscar return to the convent. He nuzzles her neck as they walk.

Padilla calls Carlos and says Andres isn’t at the convent. Carlos is not happy. He wants him found pronto and hangs up on Padilla.

In Peru, Franco is hugging his daughter as Julieta smiles in the background. Julieta and daughter leave his hotel room as he looks rueful.

Oscar and Carolina hold hands and as walk up to the convent they are shocked to see the police are there as well! The men alight from the squad car and tell cool nun they are there to see Carolina Robles. The sister tries to dissuade them but they demand entry. She pretends to have locked herself out and rings the bell. Oscar sneaks back to Carolina and they head for the fence leading to the back entrance. The nun rings the bell again and it is finally answered and they are given entrance. Oscar helps hoist Carolina up on a tree but she falls on the other side of the fence, grabbing her bag in pain, hobbling up the steps.

MONTEVERDE #75, Part 2 of 3

Cool nun is walking as slowly as she can down the corridor as the policemen quickly lose their patience. Good evening Madre Gustava greets the officers. The police show her a folder which she scans and hands back as the small party traverse the hall. Cool nun stands in front of Carolina’s door barring entry. The Madre protests and knocks. To our shock, Carolina answers the door wrapped in an ivory blanket. She signs the paper as the officers politely thank her. Carolina smiles at the cool nun who gives thumbs up. Once the door is shut, Carolina takes off the blanket revealing her habit. She calls a relieved Oscar…

Rosalia is visiting the good father, prescription pad in hand. It seems Father Gabriel has been given his walking papers, so to speak. Angelina and Juan David murmur under their breath, seemingly anxious to have their home back. Father gets up, appearing a bit dizzy but he presses on, making a face, sensing he has overstayed his welcome, grabbing his clothes.

VOTE POR GLORIA posters grace Manuel’s restaurant as she tries out the audio to address her “people”. There are drinks and refreshments laid outside, along with a podium and rows of chairs. Angelina, Father Gabriel and Juan David take it all in. Angelina walks up as Father and Juan David leave. Angelina makes it clear she supports her husband.

Joyously affirming they are novios Carolina kisses Oscar goodbye. He tenderly puts his hand on her cheek as she smiles but has tears in her eyes as she watches him walk away.

Cárcamo sees his bus has been vandalized as we see VOTE X GLORIA scrawled in black paint on the side of his cherry red bus. “Gloria!” Doris mutters as she seethes in anger.

The women from the inn arrive at Gloria’s rally, sitting in the front row. All of a sudden a parade of cheering men arrive with signs as Gloria addresses her peeps.

Oscar calls Erika saying the boys aren’t answering their phones. I’m unsure if Oscar knows they are there with her or not.

All of a sudden, the bus pulls up in front of Manuel’s (aka Gloria’s campaign headquarters) with Doris angrily asking her what is the meaning of this?

Lucia and the doctor talk. I can only say the doctor seems to reassure her.

Gloria waves Doris aside. Doris points to the bus as evidence of Gloria’s treachery. The two go back and forth as Manuel and Angelina unhappily look on. Doris points out the vandalism and the men slink away, leaving only the handful of women whose reactions range from enthusiastic to indifferent (Trinidad). Gloria imperiously steps inside as her daughter and Manuel follow. Gloria vows to soldier on.

“Buenas tardes” Carolina greets her lawyer. Needless to say, the lawyer is incensed about Carolina’s great escape and reads her the riot act. Carolina apologizes and the lawyer finally seems mollified. She seems to have good news which I am sure you will interpret perfectly Jarifa, as I sadly cannot.

MONTEVERDE #75, Part 3

Julieta and the baby accompanied Franco to the airport. He says goodbye to his daughter and kisses Julieta on the cheek. She sadly watches him walk away. He turns and looks back at her as he goes through the gate and she gives him a smiling little wave through her tears.

A tearful Lucia, dreading her surgery, visits Rosalia who tells her she is “mal”. Rosalia tells her how strong she is and hugs her.

Father Gabriel is back in bed strategizing. But first, he is asking for delicious gooey, spicy food. I gather his cravings will not be given into. 😊

Rosalia shares her worries about Lucia with Lucas; he is supportive.

Carolina shares her news from the lawyer with Celeste. Celeste tells her to be patient and gives thanks. Carolina smiles as she says te quiero.

Oscar arrives home and the boys are there to greet him, enthusing they are super bien! They tear through his suitcase looking for souvenirs. Lucas reassures Oscar that everything is fine.

Oh noes! Sara arrives at Cárcamo and Doris’, suitcase in hand. She lies through her teeth (does she say she is an ornithologist?) She signs in and goes to her room.

The boys see the postcards and Oscar admits he saw Carolina, much to the boys’ delight. Lucas, Moises and Andres smile as Oscar is asked if he and Carolina are novios. Yes is the smiling answer as the boys are thrilled. Celeste comes in and says something like it will soon be proven Carlos is guilty of fraud; Oscar looks pleased.

In the last scene of the night, Sara calls Carlos. I am in Monteverde she tells him as he crooked smiles.

Carolina was so careless! Worse yet was Oscar going along with her little get out of jail scheme! Had they arrived even a few minutes later, Carolina would have had her goose cooked (so to speak).

I am not a fan of Julieta’s but admit I felt a pang of pity for her when Franco boarded the plane. It was clear he felt guilty leaving, especially his daughter.

The campaign is getting down and dirty. No decorum to be seen!

Wow, Sara didn’t waste a minute did she?? This is going to be bad. Very bad…

Diana

MONTEVERDE Extras página 1

Thank you, Diana!

"This is going to be bad. Very bad…" You can say that again!

The newly connected cellphone users of Monteverde have already tired of Juan David's campaign texts. Juan David plays the "poor me" card but his uncle, frustrated with him, tells him he cannot give up so quickly. He is willing to help Juan David but with an empty stomach , he isn't thinking very well . . . He tells Angelina that the lettuce with a tomato that she served him wasn't a supper. He is thinking of something simple like "enfrijoladas" (sort of like enchiladas with bean sauce) with a little chicken, cheese, cream, onion. Angelina informs him they have no chicken. The good father says to fill them with cheese then. Juan David says he will take charge of making them.

Andrés asks Erika if she would tell him and Moisés some horror stories. That is what they do every night themselves until they fall asleep. No, they are never afraid but very brave!! She agrees and starts talking about an abandoned house much to the boys's delight.

Not thinking straight, Carolina suggests she go with Oscar to his room at the hostel. He reminds her that she is dressed as a nun. What would the people at the hostel think? She gets it.

Padilla is up in Monterrey looking for his son and has not found him at any convent yet. The city is large and it will take time. Carlos doesn't know what he is paying Padilla for and time is of the essence. He needs to find his son so they can leave the country ASAP. He hangs up on Padilla still talking.

Oscar tells Carolina that Mexico City was so much better than he had expected. He suspects the company he had has something to to do with that.

The police officers give Mother Gustava a look at the court order to make sure Carolina is living up to the conditions of her home confinement. She explains to the Cool Nun that they have to comply and takes charge leading them to Carolina's room.

In spite of seeing that his blood pressure has regulated, Rosalía gives the good father a list of tests she wants him to have done. He looks at the list and asks on an empty stomach to Zacatilo??? No! They are so expensive! She asks if he doesn't have health insurance. He says he has all the security that the Good Lord bestows upon them. Angelina and Juan David agree that he looks good, like new!! Juan David asks Rosalía if the good father can go back home. Sure he can. Suddenly the good father isn't feeling so well, sort of weak. He is afraid of fainting in the street!!! Angelina informs him that they will be still caring for him but at his house. Juan David will be cooking for him every day!. Angelina starts to explain and the good father cuts her off clearly offended. He understands what they mean!! He turns pathetic telling them not to worry about him and asks for his clothing. Angelina has it all nice and washed and ironed for him! Rosalía tells him to call her when he has the test results. She leaves. The good father arises but "weakly." When Angelina goes to help him, he refuses her assistance. He can do it by himself! All alone by himself . . .

Erika tells Oscar about her mother trying to take Moisés and how Andrés saved the day. Erika then tells him how she was so worried that her mother would be back, that she took the boys to spend the night with her at the inn. (nice to finally hear her reasoning) Oscar is angry at first but quickly is more concerned about the boys' welfare. Erika tells them that they are fine and back home.

Lucía talks to her doctor who now has her pre-admission test results. The doctor would like her to be admitted today so that the surgery can happen ASAP. She hands her an admission order. The doctor is optimistic they will be able to eradicate the cancer in her case.

MONTEVERDE Extras Página 2

Gloria has drafted Manuel and Angelina to find out who defaced Doris' bus. She refuses to be blamed for something she did not do! Manuel and Angelina are less than excited about their task.

The lawyer warns Carolina if she pulls something like she just did again, she will no longer be her lawyer. Her cybernetic expert has proof that Carlos himself opened the accounts abroad. All of the money of the people who were defrauded is in those accounts. Finally, they have a way to prove that Carlos is the person who committed the fraud and not her. The lawyer has to take the evidence to the judge so he can review it. If it all goes as she expects, Carolina will be free very soon and there will be an arrest warrant issued for Carlos. The lawyer warns her that if she does something like she did yesterday, she will have wasted everything they have done. Carolina swears she will not place one foot out of the convent until her freedom is granted. She is so grateful.

Lucía tells Rosalía that she is being admitted today. She doesn't have to ask that Rosalía go with her. She is there for her already and will go with her. Lucía is full of fear and cannot get over that her body will be mutilated. She cannot deal with it all! Rosalía assures her that she is strong and will recuperate sooner than she thinks.

Juan David and Angelina visit the good father to update him on the campaign. Juan David is done with texts and wants to know what else the good father has up his sleeve. The good father makes it clear that he doesn't do his best thinking on an empty stomach. . . For dinner he would like something really simple: tortilla soup, chicharrón in green sauce.. . Angelina reminds him he is still convalescing so ti will be chicken broth for him. The good father is disappointed.

Rosalía lets Lucas know she is going with Lucía. They will operate on her either today or tomorrow. Lucía is scared to death. If she is being honest, Rosalía is just as scared but of the surgeon finding more cancerous tissue in Lucía's breast than expected. That is a risk.

Oscar complains that Lucas should have consulted with him about the witch having arrived at the ranch and then the boys going to stay with Erika at the inn. Lucas answers confidently that it was something they were able to take care of themselves. Sister Celeste was at the inn. The boys end the conversation with their questions about Oscar's trip. The truth comes out. Oscar has to admit that he didn't go to Arteaga but to Mexico City. He readily admits that he went to see Carolina.

MONTEVERDE

Diana, I sort of felt sorry for Julieta, too.

Yes, it sure didn't take long for Sara to arrive in town. It almost seems like she was more of the plotter that Carlos since she is so stuck on him. Who knows what she will see with her birding binoculars? Don't like it.

Bad sign for Lucía with Rosalía commenting on the surgeon not knowing what they are dealing with until they see it.

I guess that Erika is to be trusted.

MONTEVEDE

Jarifa, I savored every single word of your amazing recap. Perfectly relayed with wit, humor and wisdom. You clarified much that I missed. I could have cut and pasted your entire summary - just exceptional.

Thank heavens solid evidence against Carlos has been found! There is still plenty of time for things to go awry but hopefully Carolina won't be pulling any further stunts to jeopardize everything.

"Erika then tells him how she was so worried that her mother would be back, that she took the boys to spend the night with her at the inn. (nice to finally hear her reasoning) Oscar is angry at first but quickly is more concerned about the boys' welfare". Oscar was right in that the boys safety matters most and while I'm glad he isn't as hotheaded as he was previously, Erika can't just do what she wants without consulting him. Similarly, Lucas should not have allowed the boys to go.

Father Gabriel was on a tear last night wasn't he? I smiled throughout. "The good father arises but "weakly." When Angelina goes to help him, he refuses her assistance. He can do it by himself! All alone by himself . . ." had me laughing out loud. Thank you so much for including this and all the "very slighted" atrocities the poor man had to endure. 😊

Lucia's surgery tonight. Hoping for the best under the circumstances.

Jarifa, this was such a fun and engrossing read. Thank you for your generous time, you've made my day!!

Diana

MONTEVERDE

Jarifa, you nailed it with "it almost seems like she was more of the plotter that Carlos since she is so stuck on him". She seems undeterred, callous and cunning. He may have made a grave mistake; let's hope so.

"Bad sign for Lucía with Rosalía commenting on the surgeon not knowing what they are dealing with until they see it" is exactly right Jarifa. Unsettling, wasn't it?

Diana

Monteverde
Thanks Diana and Jarifa, I enjoyed reading your recaps. Sarah must be really smitten with Carlos to head to Monteverde to find Andre’s. I wonder if she’ll realize she’s wrong about Carlos. I picture her kidnapping Andre’s and ending up in jail, along with Carlos.
I couldn’t elite e Oscar went along with Caroline’s crazy plan. Hopefully they learned their lesson.
When Julieta heard that Franco and Lucia were through she seemed to light up. I don’t trust her, I think she’s plotting to get Franco. And she has his baby to help.
I have decided Erica is as good as she seems!
I don’t see why Juan David doesn’t just tell everyone, or remind them, that he made their town a municipal and got them a cell phone tower. The others didn’t do anything. I can’t imagine anyone voting for Gloria! Carcamo is probably well liked, and does have a nice hotel. So he could be competion.
I‘m going out of town this weekend so won’t get to watch until Sunday evening.
Liz

Mi Verdad
Susan, I’m not sure if the housekeeper is a villain, but she’s definitely a troublemaker. I know she loaned Zac’s dad the money to sell beer or something at the festival and his wife was not happy. She also wanted to charge him interest when he was paying her back. He didn’t have some coin to give her, after he gave her all the bills. She said he’d have to pay interest and he gave her a larger coin and when she didn’t have change he said she could owe him with interest. I think she feels she’s better than the other workers and she definitely eavesdrops a lot. She knows Aitana is leading two of the brothers on, and Zacarious. But between the housekeeper, Zac and now Aitana’s mother I think Aitiana’s going to end up in danger. Her mother also mentioned losing someone else in addition to her father, I think Belinda is her daughter. I hope if Belinda was her baby that Bruno is the dad. Mateo is a sicko. A cold blooded killer. And Inigio is a creep. He says he wants his wife back but I don’t see he and Larissa breaking up. He does wonder why she forgave Luciano so easily, and wondered why she needs to marry him.

MONTEVERDE

Thanks Liz! I always enjoy your comments.

"I don’t see why Juan David doesn’t just tell everyone, or remind them, that he made their town a municipal and got them a cell phone tower" is a great point! I think some of the women may vote for Gloria out of some sort of loyalty and you're right in that Cárcamo is a popular candidate.

I agree in that Julieta wanted Franco and still does. Perhaps I'm being gullible but she didn't try to garner any sympathy from him (at least this time) and her attempt to smile as he left (rather than cry and plead) makes me think she may have changed. That said she thinks Franco and Lucia are over so maybe she's trying to play it cool.

Have a good trip!

Diana

MONTEVERDE

Diana, I have to admit I enjoyed the good father scenes the most last night. Great comedic actors in those scenes and they are all so natural.

MONTEVERDE
Liz, I, also, agree with you about Juan David. He needs to learn how to blow his own horn!

MI verdad
Liz, thank you.
Bruno seems to very sensitive and upset and seems to love Belinda . I am sure that both Inigio and Mateo attacked Aitana. Did Bruno participate or did he just not stop his brothers . Luciano seems like a good guy . Susan

MONTEVERDE #76, Part 1 of 3

Carlos sits at his desk when the phone rings. “Sara” he says. She is in Monteverde and tells him she is determined to find his son as he gets a rather insane look in his eyes.

Celeste tells Oscar, Lucas and the boys that evidence has been found proving Carlos’ guilt which will exonerate Carolina! Moises tells everyone Oscar went to see Carolina (old news by now dear boy). 😊 “Adios Andres” Celeste says as she kisses him goodbye. Oscar tells Lucas that Franco is returning today and invites him to come when he picks him up at the airport; they are all smiles.

Gloria and Manuel discuss her candidacy and the bus desecration. She grabs her handbag and takes off spurning his offer to go with her.

Sister Celeste asks Juan David where his tio is. He brings her to the good padre’s room who joyfully welcomes her. She shares the good news about Carlos’ guilt which should prove Carolina’s innocence. He welcomes the good news! She says Oscar deserves so much credit for giving the money for the investigation. Father exclaims what love will do. He makes a funny face that makes me laugh.

Your sister gave me the good news a smiling Oscar tells Carolina as they talk on the phone. (Does he want her to come to Monteverde?) She talks about becoming a family; to not be separated, not be alone.

Gloria approaches one of the men telling him to dig up information about Doris. She hands him a wad of cash.

The nurse comes out and hands a now crying Lucia a hospital gown as Rosalia looks on.

At the stables, Erika asks if Oscar has a minute. She explains why she wants Moises with her at the posada. Thankfully, Oscar wants to keep Moises with him where he will be safe. He stares thoughtfully.

Oh noes. Sara has somehow trespassed onto Oscar’s land and is watching the unfolding scene with her binoculars; she takes a picture and sends it to Carlos. I found your hijo she smirks.

The padre sneaks back in bed as a concerned Angelina and Juan David come in. He doesn’t want to bother anyone as he tries to mine for sympathy. They started brainstorming but I couldn’t follow.

Diana

MONTEVERDE #76, Part 2 of 3

Where are you Carlos asks Sara? At Oscar Leon’s ranch she responds as he grimaces, likely confirming his suspicions. Take care Carlos warns her as she raises her binoculars. “Besos” he tells the silly woman. All of a sudden, Augustin comes up behind Sara and startles her!!! What is she doing there?

The lawyer holds up a USB telling Carolina it will prove Carlos’ dirty dealings. An emotional Carolina asks when she will be free.

Augustin tells Sara she is on private property. She grabs her sack ready to flee but Augustin will not let her leave until she sees his patron! Good man.

The doctor comes in for a pre-surgery conference with a nervous Lucia.

Augustin brings Sara in front of Oscar, Moises by his side. She gives him her card and engages the boys in conversation. She spins some yarn that impresses Erika. The boys want to go with her but Oscar says not so fast. He wants to check her out. She tells them she is staying at Doris’ place. Augustin seems uncertain, Oscar grim.

Are you all right Rosalia asks Lucia who is lying down on the gurney. The nurse comes in, it’s time…Rosalia kisses her on the forehead.

Oscar checks out Sara’s story with the ornithological society and it seems she passes muster.

Oscar and Lucas pick up Franco from the airport. He is in love – with his beautiful daughter! Mariana is the most important thing Oscar says smilingly.

Sara calls Carlos and fills him in. She is pleased with her progress and asks he trust her.

At a restaurant on the way home, Oscar and Lucas fill Franco on what’s transpired since he left – the internet has Franco astonished but pleased. Franco asks Lucas how Rosalia is. She is with Lucia Lucas admits sheepishly. Franco immediately sees that something is amiss and asks what is wrong with Lucia. Lucia has cancer he tells an astonished Franco. Oscar, who must not have known either, immediately voices his sympathy. What hospital is she in Franco asks. Zacatillo is the answer. Oscar supports and sympathizes with Franco.

Rosalia asks the doctor how Lucia is.

Andres talks with Carolina who effuses she will be back in Monteverde. Tomorrow he inquires happily. Not tomorrow but soon she smiles. Andres says he knows she and Oscar are novios. Moises joins in on the fun as she smiles shaking her head.

Franco stands at the foot of Lucia’s bed as she opens her eyes. He dabs her dry lips with damp cotton as he looks on concernedly.

Diana

MONTEVERDE #76, Part 3 of 3

As the monitor beeps, Rosalia returns to Lucia’s room where Franco is still sitting on the stool, his head on Lucia’s bed.

Father Gabriel is at Manuel’s place enjoying a breadbasket and other “forbidden” delicacies when Juan David and Angelina arrive. Some campaign strategy is discussed involving Zacatillo.

Franco is sitting on Lucia’s bed as he puts his hand on her face as she wakes up. She asks how she is; the only thing I thought I understood was something about normal. How is your hija she asks. She is wonderful he smiles and then kisses her forehead.

“Buenos dias” Sara smiles as she bounds down the stairs greeting Doris. She asks about restaurants and Doris recommends Manuel’s.

Celeste comes into Manuel’s just as Angelina starts having pain, yelling out. Gloria rushes out as Celeste fans her.

As Carolina packs, Madre Gustava comes into her room. She is bursting as she smilingly tells her she is going to be cleared of all charges in the fraud case. The Madre is thrilled!

It takes a village to put Angelina into the father’s car as Juan David and Gloria accompany her to the hospital.

Sister Celeste runs into Sara who introduces herself. Oscar comes up in their conversation and Celeste ends up bringing Mata Hari to the inn for coffee.

The doctor talks with Franco, Rosalia and Lucas none of which I understood.

Angelina groans in pain and is comforted by her mother as Father Gabriel and Juan David squirm in the front seat. The three give her instructions for breathing…

Erika and Moises are walking when they come across Oscar’s abandoned house where he lived with Eva.

Sara is now at the Inn, sitting with the women as though they are long lost friends. (Nauseating I murmur).

In the last scene of the night, Carolina greets the lawyer who is unsmiling and in fact quite grim. The news is bad. My best guess is that it seems they’ve stopped the investigation into Carlos’ crimes. I’m sorry she tells Carolina. No, no, no Carolina stutters as tears fall from her yes. My son, my freedom. Why she cries as she casts her eyes heavenward.

Tonight’s dialogue was beyond challenging, right out of the gate. I couldn’t understand what Sara was going on about with the women and exactly what her plan is. Most importantly, judging by Franco’s reaction, whatever happened as a result of Lucia’s operation didn’t seem tragic. However, I did not even want to hazard a guess as to what did or didn’t transpire. I leave it to you Jarifa to kindly explain the surgery results and subsequent prognosis.

How and why on earth did the case against Carlos crumble??

Father Gabriel never fails to make me smile. Will the poor man ever get to eat a meal in peace??

Many questions hover in the air….

Diana

monteverde

Thank you, Diana. Any chance Sara might switch sides after getting the Monteverde treatment? She seems evil. But that place has an effect on many. I wonder if Celeste will figure out her game. More likely Moises who misses nothing. This is such a great tale!!! I hope Angelina and twins will be OK.

Babachita

MONTEVERDE

Babachita, what a great question! "...that place has an effect on many" is definitely right!

Sara is convinced she is doing the right thing but I suspect you are right about Moises (and Andres). If they are given the chance to tell her that Carlos is the heinous one, her redemption depends on weather she listens. Or not.

Do we know when Angelina is due? I had assumed the pain was contractions so yes, she and her babies must be safe. And healthy!

Diana

MONTEVERDE Extras página 1

Thanks, Diana.

Carlos is impressed with what Sara has done so far. Once he gets his son back, nobody will take him away from him again!

Celeste informs them all that it will still take time for Carolina to be set free in spite of her lawyer having the evidence she needs as certain procedures need to be followed. She hopes it won't be long. Oscar is smiling and is more than eager to finish the conversation as Moisés brings up Oscar's trip to Mexico City and Celeste comments that she didn't know about that but it was what she had guessed . . .

Manuel warns Gloria that if she continues to talk badly about Cárcamo, people are going to think she is the one who defaced the bus. She needs to stop bad mouthing the other candidates and convince people to vote for her. She gets a text and is off to parts unknown.

Celeste also tells the good father that they were right that Oscar didn't go to any cattle fair but ended up in Mexico City to see Carolina. He is happy that those two are back together again and sees it all a result of Operation Genesis.
She remarks that Operation Genesis even has affected Oscar León! He agrees and giggles.

Oscar wants Carolina to promise him that when she is freed she will come to live with him in Monteverde. Yes, he is serious. Yes, she accepts his offer! They will be one big family and he and she will be together forever. She will be counting the hours until she is freed. She loves Oscar and he loves her even more.

Gloria is talking to the guy she paid to do something to put a wrench in Cárcamo's campaign. She is angry that he did something as obvious as defacing the bus using her name!! He thinks it worked out just fine because Cárcamo didn't look very good in the way he reacted with his supporters. The man asks to be paid and Gloria pays him but not the amount they agreed upon. She says she never asked him to put her name on Doris' bus. So there!

Erika would like Moisés to spend more nights with her at the inn. Seeing him during the day isn't enough. There was nothing like putting him to bed. Oscar thinks not because there are too many people coming and going there. It isn't safe. He is still worried about her mother. She reminds him she told her mother that if she acme back she would call the police. Oscar insists that still doesn't make Moisés safe so he will be sleeping at the ranch. She asks him to think about it . . . as Sara remarks she has found her "litle bird."

The good father asks Juan David what he has done on his campaign. Juan David admits he has no ideas. The good father reminds him that time is running out and he has todo something!!! He should thinks of a politicial figure that could inspire him like . . . Gandhi, Che Guevara . . . Juan David doesn't lnow about that but maybe they should think about something Monteverde needs. A movie theater? Public transportation to Zacatillo? A bus station? A day care center for all the babies that are going to be on the way? The good father tells them to write their ideas down in a notebook.

MONTEVERDE Extras página 2

Sara has to admit to Carlos that Andrés looks very happy and is with another kid. Carlos says that is Oscar's son. She assures him that his son deserves to be with him and she will get him back. He thanks her from the bottom of his (dark and rotten) soul. He sends her "kisses" as she does him. She hangs up.

The lawyer tells Carolina that tomorrow she will submit the USB to the judge as newly acquired evidence, that is evidence obtained after the start of the investigation. She adds that once the evidence is determined to be valid, she will be out before she knows it.

The doctor asks Lucía about allergies and medication she might be taking. She is only taking vitamins.

Sara the ornithologist and vet is looking for the Mexican house finch! She also organizes trips for kids to observe birds! Moisés is impressed with so many birds on the ranch. She came to Monteverde because so many bird species are there!!! She tells Oscar she would be willing to organize a bird-watching expedition for the boys. Oscar says he first needs to check out Sara's story. Sara agrees saying she fully understands. In these times with so much going on . . .

Lucía is afraid that she will not wake up after her anesthesia. Rosalía says that is just a myth and explains that anesthesiologists understand the drugs that they are working with very well. It is a safe and controlled procedure. Lucía tells her there is nothing to be worried about. Time for surgery!

Oscar tells Erika that although Sara's connection checks out, she still could have been sent by her mother or Andrés' father. (Unfortuately, since she is young and inexperienced in the ways of telenovelas) Erika disagrees saying that the phone call proves that Sara is telling the truth. Oscar is not convinced.

Franco says that his relationship with Julieta is great with them having formed a good friendship.

An impressed Carlos tells Sara if she gets on Celeste's and Oscar's good side, she will not have any problems removing Andrés from Monteverde.

Oscar is not impressed by the internet service and everyone on their cellphones all the time. Franco also finds out that Lucía and Diego broke up.

The doctor tells Rosalía that the surgery was a success. They did a mastectomy that removed cancerous tissue.

Rosalía assuages Franco's guilt for not being there for Lucía's surgery. She tells him everything happens for a reason and now he is here.

Franco thanks Rosalía for being there for Lucía. She says she would never leave her all alone. She is like her sister.

(Cut scene? Angelina wants chilaqules for breakfast and Juan David has no tomatillos to make the sauce so they decide to go to Manuel's)

MONTEVERE Extras Página 3

With his mouth happily full, the good father explains to Juan David that he is sick of being in bed and is feeling very well. Furthermore, nobody at home is taking care of him so he decided to come to Manuel's. Angelina scolds the good father for eating greasy and hot (spicy) food. He answers all the better!!!
He was also sick of eating such tasteless food. Juan David says they also came to eat. The good father, mouth full, says he would ask them to sit with him but he wouldn't want to be a burden to them . . . Angelina says it would be a pleasure to eat with him and she and Juan David sit down. Juan David has a new idea to promote in his campaign: streetcar/trolley service to and from Zacatillo. The good father likes the idea. Juan David will start researching the geography and will talk to the mayor in Zacatillo.

Lucía cannot believe that Franco is here with her. He tells her to believe it! he will always be with her. He kisses her on the forehead.

Sara tells Celeste all about some man's private property being the best place to find the birds she is looking for and how uncooperative he is. Celeste says that must be Oscar. He is difficult at first but he really is a good person. She offers to put in a good word for her with Oscar so she can do what she needs to. Sara is grateful!!!

The doctor says that the surgery is only the first step in Lucía's treatment. Next, she will need six months of chemotherapy and after that periodic evaluations. The doctor says that Lucía is going to need all of their support to get through this physically and emotionally. She already told Lucía who took it well but that doesn't mean that she isn't afraid. It is a long road and weakens the body but it is the soul that needs to be accompanied the most. She tells them to not leave her on her own. Rosalía asks the doctor to tell Lucía that in spite of physical changes that might happen to her in her continued treatment, how people feel about her will not change. The doctor says she will.

All of the inhabitants of the car breathe in unison with Angelina to help her as she screams on and te car rolls onward to Zacatillo . . .

Erika has plans to ask Oscar if Moisés can come to the inn to bake an apple tart with her. Moisés asks his mother if he can stay and sleep with her at the inn. Erika says that his father doesn't want him to because he thinks that the ranch is the safest place for him to be after what her mother did. Moisés thinks his father is way too exaggerated in his reactions. What is going to happen to him? He is going to convince his father to let him stay. Erika asks about the vacant house. Moisés explains that his father lived there when he was married. Now it is never opened and is full of dust and spiders. Yes, it is abandoned.

Celeste doesn't tell Carolina' s story to Sara. All she says is that she came with her sister to Monteverde and that is a long story she will tell her some other time.

Carolina's lawyer has bad news. The judge is insisting on finishing his investigation without considering any new evidence. If Carolina is found guilty, then the new evidence may be submitted along with a writ of amparo (sort of like a writ of habeus corpus but broader in its scope). Carolina is devastated by the news. She is left asking God why life is treating her so badly.

MONTEVERDE

Wow! Is everyone going to look stupid for not paying attention to Oscar and his spidey sense if Sara ends up nabbing Andrés which I fully expect. Even the phone call with the ornithological society confirming Sara’s identity didn’t do much to alleviate his fear while Erika readily accepted that everything was just hunky dory! Sure.

I did feel sorry for Carolina when the judge followed a legal path neither she nor her lawyer expected.

The good father was at his best playing martyr as well as panting in the car with Angelina and company.

Looks like Gloria got more than she bargained for or was willing to pay for.

Can’t wait until Monday.

Mi Verdad

A lot happened in Friday's 2 hour episode. Nuria went to see a therapist and left her sister and Gael to watch the two girls. Inigo stormed in and immediately suspected the two of them of something inappropriate. He demanded that Gael should leave. Later, Nuria returned home accompanied by her lawyer and Inigo was sitting on the sofa just waiting. He and the lawyer got into a little scuffle. I didn't follow all the dialogue but he was very much bothered by the sight of those two together.

Speaking of Inigo, he is such a despicable character. Later he eavesdropped on Luciano speaking with Larissa's father as the seemed to agree on a business deal. I'm not clear on who needs this deal the most, Luciano and family or Larissa's dad. However, I get the sense that Inigo will undermine this deal.I don't think he likes his brother Luciano very much. Later towards the end of the episode, Inigo was speaking with another man and although I couldn't follow all of the conversation, it seemed to me like some kind of subterfuge. Hopefully someone can add/correct this.

Aitana got all dressed up to go out on evening off. She met Zac in a club and they danced and flirted. After the club, they went to Zac's house where things got hot and heavy. They kissed and laid on the sofa with Zac on top of her. Things were headed toward something more intimate when Aitana got flashbacks of the rape and told him to stop. She couldn't go through with it. She told Zac that she really likes him but doesn't love him.

Poor Bruno went to a treatment facility for his alcoholism where there was not to be any communication with people on the outside. He called Aitana. I am very unclear about his relationship with Aitana. He seems to really like her, more than he should. He also seems to like Belinda (but it seems to be avuncular).

La bruja, I mean la madre, Sra Luisa is undergoing chemotherapy and wants no one to know except Aitana and he doctor. She comes back home and there are comments especially from Michaela that she looks pale. She is encouraged to eat. She next has to have radiation. Although quite ill, the illness hasn't caused her to mellow or loosen he grip on her son's.

Mateo, I am convinced is a psychopath. Ximena returns back home thanks to the largess of Mateo. She is welcomed by everyone. While in the greenhouse with Mateo she get dizzy and stumbles. She says she is just tired from the trip. Mateo demands that she go and get some rest. A short while later. she enters Mateo's office to bring him some tea/coffee. After an intense conv. with Mateo, she confesses that she is pregnant with Zac's baby.

Luciano and Larissa's wedding is only two weeks away and Luciano cannot stop thinking about Aitana. He dreams they are kissing and on the couch about to get busy when he wakes up from his dream sleeping next to Larissa.

I know I forgot some things and probably miss understood some things so please provide comments, additions, clarification......

Can't have the case against Carolina resolved to soon with ten episodes remaining.

I can't believe Lucia hasn't involved her family in the news about her mastectomy, etc. early in the show it seemed she at least called her folks at times as she licked her wounds. I was waiting for Juan David to hyperventilate as he got everyone in the car to breath with Angelina.

Maybe Oscar will open the old house up.for Erika to use and then she can have sleepovers with Moises on the ranch.

MI verdad
Well, I recorded last nights episode , and I am so glad that I did because the pot is boiling . I only understand a few words , but the visual gave a lot of clues . so much happened in two hours . Stream of consciousness report ....Mateo is getting creepier and Creepier with Ximena. He and mom are always whispering . I think she knows that he is stalking poor Ximena . I think she told him at the end that she was pregnant with Zak's baby , and he looked furious and dangerous.
Zak took Aitana dancing . These two are great dancers , and they looked so happy. However, back at his place , she rejected him when he wanted to make love Because she had a,flashback to the attack. Meanwhile, Luciano was sleeping with Larissa but was dreaming about Aitana. I think that he is going into business with Larissa 's father . initio was eavesdropping and looked pleased.
Initio was furious that Gael was in the house with Ceci . Then he went after Nuria's lawyer screaming and woke up one of daughters.
Both Ceci and Belinda like Gael. Ceci seems pretty wild. Susan

Jarifa, had to laugh at your use of spidey sense. Do you have young cartoon watchers in your life. My grands go through phases where they watch Spidey a lot, along with Blaze and the monster machines, Paw Patrol and lately Gabbie's Dollhouse.

MONTEVERDE

Jarifa, thank you for your extraordinary summary that illuminated and explained so much.

So many excellent lines including “(Unfortunately, since she is young and inexperienced in the ways of telenovelas)” (which had me chuckling away) and “He thanks her from the bottom of his (dark and rotten) soul” which could not be truer!

“The doctor tells Rosalía that the surgery was a success. They did a mastectomy that removed cancerous tissue”. I thought Lucia was very brave in the face of this harsh development. In some novelas, I have often thought that women often bear the brunt of hardships and illnesses as well as being meted out greater punishment. Rosalia and Lucia certainly seem to bear that out.

My heart tells me Franco and Lucia will end up together and that his daughter will end up living with them. Pure speculation.

“With his mouth happily full” (perfect descriptive) and “He should think of a political figure that could inspire him like . . . Gandhi, Che Guevara . . .” had me laughing out loud. I love the good padre, we should all be so fortunate to have someone like him in our corner.

It’s becoming clear Juan David is more than qualified for the position. A “streetcar/trolley service to and from Zacatillo” (as well as his other ideas) show he is creative, innovative and ready to take the helm.

“Sara the ornithologist and vet is looking for the Mexican house finch! She also organizes trips for kids to observe birds! Moisés is impressed with so many birds on the ranch” encapsulated those events perfectly. Has she not considered the long-term implications of what she is offering to do. Does she really think she will be hailed as a hero by stealing a child away from his family?? I agree with you in that thank heavens Oscar seems to be keeping his wits about him and isn't quite trusting. He certainly has reason!

I’ve no doubt Erika will be moving into the house Oscar shared with Eva.

Carolina went from gloriously happy to the depths of despair. She was truly crushed and I don’t blame her. Whenever is she going to get a break??

Jarifa, thank you for this outstanding summary; I am so grateful for your oh so careful attention and generous time.

Kat, I have no grandchildren but have used "spidey sense" most of my life. Go figure! You are right it was too early to end Carolina's court case.

Diana, glad you enjoyed the "extras". I had a lot of fun doing it. Would that not be the ideal ending with Oscar and Carolina and Erika and both the boys all living on the ranch? Good call on the abandoned house! I had not thought of that.

For me, the good father steals any scene he is in. The actor is Alejandro Ibarra. I haven't seen him in anything before.

Guess that breast cancer is another PSA popping up. Too bad. It would have been a better novela without that medical detour for Lucía.

Sara is attractive but I would have thought that Carlos would have gone for a younger woman. That being said, she is turning out to be the best choice he could have made, just as crazy as he is.

MI verdad 17-20

This show is definitely moving along and I like it a lot. I binged these 4 episodes today so I don't recall what happened in which. Lester, thanks for your discussion. Susan, I am understanding a lot of the vocab but am looking words up as I get stumped. Ceci suggested to Gael that they become amigovios, friends with benefits. I like both these characters a lot. I know Belinda is stuck on Gael, but Ceci and he are a cute couple.
Belinda has a guy interested in her, the good guy at the fiesta that went off with her curly haired friend, which made me think she was the girl he liked. But the guy is going to be Belinda's date at the wedding. I love the dapple gray horse Belinda rides. At least in the latest scene with the horse it had a hackamore rather than a halter on. Generally you ride with a bridle of hackamore, not a halter... (I've had horses half my life).

I guess now Zacharias knows how it feels to be on the receiving end of "I love you but I'm not in love with you".

Inigo is definitely out to hurt Luciano in the family business. Larissa laid it on thick getting Luciano to invest in her father's business, "no pressure, are you sure you want to do this. Don't feel you need to because he will be your father in law." Are she and Inigo in it together to set Luciano up?

I really do not get Inigo. Why is it so important to keep his wife? He should just get the divorce. I bet he wants Larissa to marry Luciano so she gets part of the family biz in a divorce and then marry Larissa himself.

So we have learned that Bruno was just a spectator at the violation when he was 18 years old. He wanted to report his brothers but he was shipped off to NY or London, don't recall which, to get him away to protect the family. If Luciano wasn't there I wonder who the 3rd guy was that attacked Ataina. As bad as some of these guys are, maybe it was their father! Nothing has been mentioned about him.

I'm even more convinced that Belinda is the daughter of Aitana. Her mother mentioned something about what happened to her. According to the orphanage, Belinda's mother was in a coma after her birth. I bet grandma signed the papers and put her up for adoption.

Susan, if you have any questions I can try to fill in the holes.

Which telenovelas as you guys looking forward to watching? I understand Mi Rival starts on March 2 and Corazón de Oro, which I don't know where to watch (any suggestions)??

OT

Anon, I don’t know either. “Mi Rival” sounds interesting but with that plot could easily end up being goofy. It is premiering here on Univision so there is not much about it except the basic premise and cast. As for “Corazón de oro”, I do not know if I am in the mood for another Gabriel Soto novela right after “Monteverde.” “Corazón de oro” starts tomorrow in Mexico. Guess, I will have to wait and watch a little of both.

OT

I am so excited about Sabor a ti!!! A virtual who's who from Monteverde...

Mario Moran (Franco), Ara Saldivar (Rosalia),and Eva Cendeno star.

Arturo Carmona (Nestor), Alex Ibarra (Father Gabriel) :), Ana Karen Parra (Angelina) are also in it! Also, favorites Erika Buenfil, Eduardo Santamarina and Juan Diego Covarrubias!!

No idea when it is set to air but I can't wait.

I love Gabe Soto so will be watching Corazon...

Diana

OT

I plan to give the new novelas a try . Susan

MI verdad

Kat, thank you for the information . So Bruno didn't take part in the attack , but he saw it happen when he was only a teen . He is certainly the suffering. Glad to know that Luciano wasn't there because the music that is p!ayed when he and Aditana are togetger seems to indicate that they are falling for each other . I am sure that Inigio , Larissa , and her father are all conspiring to cheat Luciano .
Were there definitely three man involved or in the attack?
What is Creepy Mateo always talking to his mom about ? Does she realize that he is stalking poor, innocent Ximena ...a humble servant? Susan

MI verdad

Susan, Mateo, being a veterinarian with medical knowledge is a bit harder to fool about Mom's condition. I think the chemo has been hidden by the claim she is getting acupuncture. An actual acupuncture appointment has been set up that he will go to with her. Mom knows Mateo is interested in Ximena and keeps harping on the disparity in the classes, she is not for him. He insists he's just her friend and not interested romantically. If I were Ximena I'd watch what I eat and drink around Mateo. He probably knows how to cause a miscarriage.

I'm not sure about the 3 men. Aitana's memory may be faulty. I wouldn't put it past Inigo to abuse her twice. Young men do recover quickly. In a flashback we see Mateo and the round glasses he wears. I know in my eyeglass wearing days the styles really changed over 18 years. I guess he found a style and stuck with it. The brothers don't seem to have friends or buddies, except perhaps the bartender that Bruno gave the money to pay off the guy he is indebted to. I wonder if Bruno also has a gambling addiction. I think the guy he owes is the creepy tattoo hand guy that tried to abduct Belinda. At any rate it doesn't seem like any other character has been introduced yet that may have been involved in the attack.

Lots of mystery in this show and so far not a lot of violence so I'll stick with it.

MI verdad

I guess the housekeeper with the curly salt and pepper hair is Michaela .

Mateo looked absolutely furious when Ximena told him that she was pregnant by Zak.
The cook is so sweet ,but not sweet enough to balance all the evil folks in this show.
Its too bad more people are not watching this show.
P.s.Years ago , Susana Gonzales was in a dance competition called (translated ) " Dancing for the Wedding of Your Dreams ." Angelique Boyer was also on this show. They are both excellent dancers , but I think that Susana won , so the young guy who was her partner won his dream wedding . I think you can probably!y find the show on YouTube . Susan

Mi verdad

Kat, thanks for the additional info . I didn't realize that constantly tortured Bruno was in debt to someone .This guy has so many problems . He seems to feel that Aitana can help him .

Yes, the brothers don't seem to have any friends.

I was thinking like you that Mateo might try to give Ximena something to cause a miscarriage . He has an intense hatred for Zak. Zak seems to be less concerned with Mateo buzzing around Ximena now that Zak is so focused on getting Aitana, the love of his youth back. Ximena is such an innocent lamb with nobody watching out for her anymore. yikes .

I think you made a good prediction about Aitana's mother putting Belinda up for adoption . I shudder to think that either violent Inigio or BSC dsngerous Mateo is her father. Ugh. Susan

MI verdad

Susan the only other possibility I can think of is that perhaps the fiesta was also Luciano's bachelor party. I wouldn't have put it past Inigo or Mateo to give him a date rape drug that caused him to forget anything that happened and perhaps he also participated unknowingly. (Shades of Papas1, did you watch that one). Perhaps he is actually Belinda's bio dad. But wow, the fallout for Belinda if that is the case.

Yes, the cook and her husband, father to zac and adoptive parents of Gael, are a very sweet couple that love Ximena. Even if Zac doesn't get back with her, they will be involved in their grandbaby's life. I agree, more viewers would be nice.

MI verdad
There are certainly a lot of questions about what actually happened that night .
Aitana looked so happy for the first time as she and Zak danced , but the flashback that she had put an end to that pleasant scene . If Ximena doesn't lose the baby ( possibly by Mateo doing something ) and if the writers don't kill her off, I think Zak will marry her. Is he the galan of this tale ? Susan

Mi Verdad

Kat, thank you so much for clarifying things for me. I did not understand that Bruno was merely a spectator to the rape and later sent away. That explains a lot. I heard some talk about Belinda and DNA. That will definitely identify her biological parents. Most likely we'll have to wait a while for that story line to fully develop.

I didn't think of the possibility of Mateo giving Ximena something to cause a miscarriage. But that makes a lot of sense.

Lester

MI verdad

Lester, the DNA link is only as good as the number of people that get tested. I can't imagine any of the 4 brothers have done 23 and me, etc... if Aitana gave birth as I suspect, would she be looking for her child? I wonder if she went through a psychotic episode during the pregnancy and birth and has no recollection, this she wouldn't be searching for a child. Being a nurse I imagine she has routine gynecology exams and any competent OB would know she has given birth in the past I assume.

So for the brothers getting their DNA done, a health scare needing a donor for mom might initiate a DNA test, but I doubt a brain tumor qualifies. Where is good old kidney or liver failure when you need it! Actually maybe Bruno will have liver failure from his alcoholism! I think all the brothers like him well enough they would get tested. You know if it were Luciano, Inigo wouldn't step up. I assume Inigo is the second born with his overwhelming resentment of Luciano. I like to imagine different scenarios, lol.
