#39 part 1

Zac asks Luciano why his family is untouchable, something was added to his father's will about his family, does he know what that's about. Luciano has no clue but will look into it. Luciano also is calling someone to be a bodyguard I think for Belinda.

Juanjo is with Nuria who tells him about her altercation with Iñigo. He's going to get a restraining order against him. Nuria is upset that she put Juanjo's family in danger by telling Iñigo they are now lovers.

Zac goes back to the cliff where the cell phone is, finds it and whacks it with a rock, then takes a bandana and wraps it in it, probably to get rid of the fingerprints. I'd have found a river to throw it in myself, or on a road for cars to really run over it and destroy it. He sends A a text that it's been found and destroyed.

Aitana is at the hospital with Eloisa and Luciano at this point. Eloisa tells Luciano some stuff about Nuria that I didn't totally catch. I guess there is gossip around town. He really needs to reconcile with Nuria.

Larisa found another jeweler to buy her things. She wants him to put the money in Luciano's account and give her some in cash. She calls her detective to tell him she has cash to pay him and wants the info ASAP. (He's on another case and seems to be tailing someone.)

Gael goes to Zac for relationship advice. He doesn't understand women. He wants a traditional marriage and family, Ceci isn't on the same page. Zac tells him it's important to share the same values and goals. Gael asks do you and Aitana have that kind of relationship. Zac looks uncomfortable, but says yes we do..

Nuria's older daughter overhears Nuria and Ceci talking about the divorce and Juanjo being her novio. The older sister tells the younger about it. They don't want their parents to divorce.

Luciano informs Belinda that he has hired a security guard to protect her. She doesn't want one. It's the guard or I'll send you to London (that ship has sailed so not an option)or another school. You need the guard until this guy is caught. She agrees

El negro is still obsessed over Belinda, even though Tomas (the mayor) has warned him off her.

Luciano asks Eloisa about the codicil in the will of his father. The family get the land and house they live in and a job as long as they want it. But they won't learn of it until after she passes.(If something is in a will aren't the people that are mentioned in the will informed of it?)

#39 part 2


I'm getting to this late tonight so I'll just mention the important things

Iñigo seems to have found a big company to buy all their cattle. Mom is particularly happy.

Belinda tells Aitana that she thinks Rolando may turn into her true love as Gael seems happy with Ceci.

Aitana tells Zac about her daughter, that may also be his daughter. He's thrilled at the idea of perhaps having a daughter. Aitana tells him she is having her DNA done in hopes her daughter is looking for her.

Iñigo talks about his deal, the buyers are coming to look the place over. Then he lets the family know he is getting divorced.

Aitana tells Zac she wants to find her daughter but if it turns out Zac is not the dad how can she tell her about how she was conceived. She can't. Zac says tell her I'm the dad, I don't care if she's not my blood. Aitana says she can't lie.

Nuria's daughters tell her she's a bad mother. They don't want to be with her since she has a novio and is divorcing Papa.

Iñigo calls the journalist, Vincente, to give him the scoop about the deal he has brokered with enterprise Austral. Vincente days he has to run it by the editor. Inigo says you'll write what I tell you and they discuss what he did about the ory on Larisa's dad. Aitana is listening around the corner and gets an ear full.

Ceci advises Nuria to tell the girls the truth about Iñigo having cheated on her. Nuria doesn't want to hurt them. Ceci says then get used to them hating you for a while and Iñigo using them against you.

Zac recalls early days with Adriana talking about having children and him wanting a nina first. He's on cloud nine.

Episode 39 part 3

Aitana calls her Amiga, who is still only called Amiga, to tell her about what she overheard Iñigo tell the journalist. She's convinced Larisa is in on it as lovers know all the secrets. Iñigo didn't care that the family lost money. He wanted Luciano's position and to look good to his mom and win her approval.

Rolando asks his dad are you sure El negro has no priors. Dad assures him he doesn't. Rolando is angry. Belinda is in danger . Dad says he can't pull strings to protect his son's girlfriend. Rolando thinks it should be part of the job to protect these young women.

Larisa calls Luciano to tell him she returns tomorrow. He fills her in on the goings on. Aitana is back (eye roll from Larisa at this news). Iñigo got some great contract, but I'm not celebrating yet in case it is a bust. Also he hired security for Belinda because she is in danger.

Another superb recap Kat.

Naturally, Nuria's girls overhear what they weren't supposed to which will likely result in them wanting to live with their father, a crazed, despicable bully.

"Belinda tells Aitana that she thinks Rolando may turn into her true love as Gael seems happy with Ceci". I think that needs to be flipped. I belielve Gael is her destiny (although Rolando would be a fine consolation prize for someone else).Tomas is disgusting.

I like Zac far better than most posting here I think. I thought his reaction to the possibility he has a daughter was very touching.

"She's convinced Larisa is in on it as lovers know all the secrets". I don't think Aitana realizes Iñigo and Larisa aren't "together".

It was great seeing Christian Ramos from Monteverde as a young Zac :).

If I were a betting woman, I'd place a big one on El Negro making a move on Belinda. I hope Luciano hires competent protection for Belinda, she is going to need it.

I agree that Gael is a better match for Belinda. But, they are both young, as the song goes, "you can't hurry love, you just have to wait"....teens are so impatient.

Aitana probably is unaware that Iñigo and Larisa are no longer together, but as much of a busybody she is listening at doors and around corners, you would think she knows. She may not want to know, as she feels the continued affair justifies her chances with Luciano.

Zac is okay. I did not like the way he treated Ximena though. I'm less attracted to his looks than the actor playing Luciano so that is part of my being less partial to him.

Diana, I agree that El Negro isn’t likely to simply disappear.

I would also wonder about Belinda’s safety abroad which is only a plane ticket away and since everyone always overhears everyone’s business . . . it is betterBelinda is staying put with security. Let us hope she doesn’t do something stupid.

The will stuff is confusing. Eloisa’s husband now has a name, Ricardo. Luciano remains suspicious about why the Castillos are untouchable, the extent of the legacy, and why this was kept hidden. Eloisa says not hidden, just not important, don’t go looking for a mystery that’s not there. Your father can leave property as he wishes. Eloisa said he left land to the Castillos, but don’t tell them—they’ll find out when I die (so, something beyond what Eloisa already told Cleme?)

Aitana, super eavesdropper, overheard a lot between Iñigo and reporter Vicente. Besides the scoop of Iñigo’s (supposed) big deal with Austral, Iñigo wants a puff piece profile of him with photos. Send a nice young reporter, I’m now the most eligible bachelor in town, ha! Back and forth about who owes who more, rehashing the bankruptcy and fraud. Iñigo threatens to tell Vicente’s editor that Vicente sold information (not sure what this information is?)

Aitana repeats to her friend Karime. How can Aitana clue in Luciano? And let him know Larisa knows more than he suspects. Karime: don’t take risks, Iñigo could come after you.
Agree with Diana that Zac’s reaction to possible daughter was touching, and sort of heartbreaking.

Susan, the possibility of Ricardo being the father of Zac is a good premise. The 3 other sons doing the same to Aitana would prove the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. The fact that Ricardo favored Luciano (from comments Iñigo made in the past), probably rules out Eloisa having a Cuckoo in the nest with Luciano. Time will tell what the mystery is about Zac and Clem.

Thank you Kat and all others who added comments. I really got lost in the last few episodes since new people have entered. I didn't understand who these men were nor the relations to some of the main characters. Your recaps really helped, although I am still a bit fuzzy about some things. Apparently one is related to Inigo and his business dealings, one appears to be the mayor and is helping el negro.

I'll keep watching and reading your excellent recaps and I'm sure some of my confusion will disappear.

Thanks, Kat, another excellent recap. I’m late to the party, I got busy and then wondered if I had read the recap yet!

Zac is so excited, but he has a 1/4 chance of being the dad. And although we suspect it’s Belinda he needs to realize he may not be acknowledged by the girl. I think he’s thinking he and Aitana will be parents to the girl, even if it’s not his. Which is really nice of him. He also wants to look for her on his own, but if Aitana’s mom couldn’t find her years ago he’ll have a tougher time now.

Nuria knows what Inigo is like so I thought she was crazy to tell him about the new aspect of their relationship. Especially since he had threatened Juanjo and his family. And he throws and breaks things when upset. I’m sure Eloise will help him fight for custody.

I thought Larissa wasn’t allowed to leave town! I’m sure she said that at one point as to the reason she couldn’t go to Mexico City to sell her jewels. And she thinks Luciano won’t accept the money. She’s a bit crazy, but she may be right.

I hope Inigo’s deal falls through. I’d sure hate for them to lose more money. And thinking of that, I can’t wait for his family to find out about him knowing about the fraud and not telling his brother.

Episode 40 part 1

Luciano has decided a female bodyguard is better so he has hired Mireya Dominguez for the position. Bruno shows her around the ranch. Then point Belinda to her at school.
Eloisa tells Mateo she made a mistake letting Clem know she is in her will (wills can be changed so I don't see how that is a factor. I'm not sure if she told Clem that her defunct husband put them in the will).Mateo knows about the reason Clem is mentioned in the will. He says when she dies they don't need to know they were mentioned in Dad's will, I won't say anything. Dad wanted to protect Clem. (Maybe Clem is Ricardo's bastard sister..Susan maybe we needed to go back a generation. That would explain why Clem's aunt was cold towards her).hat would make it more likely that Eloisa would accept her. (Clara I could use some help here if you can add to it.)

Zac talks to Zac but isn't able to add much about why they are protected. Luciano asks how he and Aitana are doing. Better than ever Zac says. They also talk about Belinda search for her parents. Zac says he has a friend that is on the opposite side, a parent searching for a child. Luciano worries that Belinda will be hurt and would just as soon not find her parents.

Belinda talks with Rolando on the phone about El Negro. He tells her what is dad said, nothing on him. Belinda says Bruno is convinced he's involved in trafficking. That's why Dad is hiring a bodyguard. Rolando says you'll get used to it. I think Rolando is going to look into the guy himself.

.Mateo finds Ximena in the greenhouse. Mom wants some of your tea. Ximena makes moves on him and a passionate kiss ensues.

Gael is cooling towards Ceci. He wants a serious relationship. She wants to have fun in the now and not plan for the future. (These two will probably not make it.)

Luciano gets an anonymous email. Iñigo knew about Amador long before. He worked with the journalist Vincente.

Mateo liked the kiss. He wants her to.call him Mateo in private. Their relationship will be kept a secret. Ximena agrees.

Episode 40 part 2
Luciano tracks down Vicente Insunza at his office. My brother Iñigo has spoken about you a lot. He tricks Vicente into confirming Iñigo knew about Amador long before he robbed them. Luciano threatens to ruin Vicente's career unless he keeps quiet for now. Vic agrees.

Aitana walks in the ranch garden trying to figure out how to help prove Iñigo knew and thus help Luciano. She takes out her phone.

Larisa walks into her apartment as her phone rings. It's Aitana. They discuss Iñigo. Aitana says she won't use the incriminating video if Larisa does (next scene cuts the request off)

Ximena is happy making the tea in the kitchen as Clem and Micaela note. They ask what has made her happy. She's decided to abandon her sadness

As Ximena goes upstairs with the tea she says in her head, I love you Mateo.

Mateo stocks his vet bag, that looks more like a tackle box. Looks like baggies of white powder in it...hmm is he a drug trafficker? He lusts over a photo of Ximena on his phone. Then he scrolls to a news page. Missing person is the headline (a female)

Nuria answers the door. It's Iñigo and her girls.thebyounger one has a black eye. Iñigo accuses her of not being available for the girls when the headmistress calls (Nuria never got called). He tells the girls to get their things.

Luciano arrives home yelling for Iñigo. Aitana comes downstairs. Iñigo isn't here. He's livid about Iñigo being a traitor. Aitana tries to calm him down. Luciano admits that there has been a lot of hard feelings between him and Iñigo because of the way their father treated them but this is too much. He wants to tell the family, Aitana is worried for Eloisa. You don't want to make her worse. What are you actually going to do about it. Do you have proof? You need to get proof first.

Iñigo tells Nuria the girls want to live with him and he's taking them. Nuria argues. They don't want to live with you, Iñigo reinforces. Nuria says they are too young to make that decision. They need to adjust. I've never spoken bad about you to them. He says you are bringing another guy into their lives. I've never brought a woman around them. The girls come down with their suitcases. Nuria wants to talk to them. They yell I hate you and leave .

Aitana suggests that Luciano ask Larisa to help find the proof. He'll talk to her. Iñigo does not deserve to be in charge after this treason.

Bruno and Mireya talk to a nun outside the school Belinda and Florencia (shouldn't she be in London by now) come out. Florencia thinks Bruno is so handsome. Belinda meets Mireya and is glad she's a woman, but is it really necessary? They say better safe than sorry..well I say that, but that was the gist of the conversation. Belinda tells Bruno he needs to be careful around El negro at the cantina or she'll send her bodyguard to take care of him.

Episode 40 part 3

Luciano goes to his office and researches Larisa and her dealings with her father's company. He watches the 2 interviews she and Inigo gave about Amador.

Nuria cries to Ceci about the girls hating her.
Iñigo asks his mom about bringing the girls back to live at the ranch. To my surprise she asks do you want to be accused of kidnapping. Por favor she mutters twice. Meanwhile Ceci is giving Nuria good advice. You won't lose the girls, you don't abuse them you aren't a drug addict, etc. they have a battle on their hands.
Luciano arrives home. Larisa tells him she tried to find a job but she's been blacklisted. She is about ready to jump off the balcony. Luciano says, don't say that, even in jest. She gives him the check from the sale of the jewelry. He sets it aside. Is something wrong she asks. Yes, Iñigo betrayed me.

Zac is wondering if Aitana has feelings for Luciano as she keeps defending him.

Luciano points out to Larisa that Iñigo had all this information about her company and that she (as CFO, wasn't she) had no idea. He wants the truth or their relationship won't work.

Zac also wants the truth. She admits that she does but she didn't want to hurt him. He can't believe she cares for him.

Larisa wonders how much more proof he needs, she took his family's hate of her, etc. Luciano says he doesn't accuse her if the fraud, but how did she not know about the financial position of her father's firm. She swears on her mother's grave she had no idea.

Aitana tells Zac it doesn't matter that she cares for Luciano. He shares the same blood as her abusers and Eloisa. Once justice is served she is leaving. Zac asks and what about us. She tells him we had a lovely past and I pray my daughter is yours, but there is no future for us, I have nothing to give. She walks away, te quiero she says and signs. He throws his hat and cries. (He's lost her for a second time.)

Larisa learns that Luciano received an anonymous tip about the reporter. She alludes that Aitana seems to know even that goes in in the house.

Not sure I can add much to intriguing conversation about the will. Yes, Eloisa did originally tell Clem that they were protected in Ricardo’s will, and that Eloisa promised Ricardo to honor his request and intends to do so.

In convo with Mateo, Eloisa regrets having said this to Clem—opened a can of worms, Luciano was poking around and not satisfied with what she told him. Mateo was calm, I’m the only one who knows and I won’t tell. Eloisa said she doesn’t want them to find out “what unites us” (lo que nos une) until after she’s dead. (Does sound like a lurking blood tie and your idea makes sense Kat).
Luciano told Zac Eloisa said Castillos protected due to affection. Both doubted this and Luciano is going to check with the notary for more information.

Mateo kissing Ximena said again “I don’t want to hurt you” and I think he said “if not with you, it’ll be someone else.” Then weird tackle box and news article about search for missing woman. Serial killer?

Clever how Aitana nudged Luciano back into suspecting Larisa outing Iñigo and then suggesting Larisa must have proof against him.

"Mateo stocks his vet bag, that looks more like a tackle box" was perfect! It appeared he was going fishing but the "baggies of white powder" certainly suggested a far more nefarious intent.

"She tells him we had a lovely past and I pray my daughter is yours, but there is no future for us, I have nothing to give. She walks away, te quiero she says and signs" was poignant and for me, very sad. My heart went out to Zac; it would be especially tragic if Belinda does turn out to be his daughter (which I think she will, speculation onlly). Everything is spiraling out of his reach and there is nothing he can do about it.

So where is Iñigo stashing the girls now that mama doesn't think they should stay at "the house"?

Thanks Kat, I enjoyed your recap. When I saw the picture of the article on Mateo’s phone I thought he must have something to do with it. He feels he’ll hurt Ximena. I wonder if he gets really violent with girls he has sex with. Aitana wants justice and I hope she gets it. But I think two of the brothers have problems because of the rape. Inigo is too self centered to let the rape affect him. Although maybe cheating on Nuria means he can’t be faithful to the one he loves. Presuming he loves her and is not just embarrassed that she’s divorcing him!

If Belinda’s DNA matches one of the brothers that will prove she was raped. So I’m hoping she gets a match. Zac may end up with Ximena and they can have children together.

I hope the girls realize what their dad’s like. I’m not as nice as Nuria. This is the moment I would tell them why I want a divorce.

Kat, thank you for another great recap as the pot boils . It seems that Clem is somehow linked to Ricardo . How old are Zak and Aitana ...maybe in their Thirties? Are they supposed to be around the same ages as the bad brothers and good Luciano? How old is Clem supposed to be ? How old is Eloisa? Can we figure out Clem's connection to Ricardo by looking at the ages of these characterS?
What is up with the strange alliance between creepy Mateo and his mommy ? , What is the secret that they share , and why dont the other brothers know that secret ? Susan

When I saw Mateo and Ximena kiss I got chills. Not the "rainbows and flowers" type. They were already disturbing together, now it's only getting worse.
After she left what he said to himself was something like "If I can't do it with her, than I can't do it with anyone else". I think he has a history of violence with women and he is actually trying to protect XImena from his twisted ways. But he is starting to think that maybe he can make it work with her.
I think he might be genuine but he might not be able to refrain from his violent tendencies.
Ximena is in for a rough ride. And we haven't even touched on how Eloisa will take a possible relationship between her favorite son and the house servant. Mateo might manage to spare Ximena, but Eloisa won't.

Aitana should be early 40's since she was already a working nurse 18 years ago when the rape occured. Zac should be about the same age.
Luciano was already married and trying for a child so he was probably late 20's at the time? All the other brothers could be late 30's also, with Bruno being younger - since I believe he was a teen when the rape happened.

Clementina is Eloisa's age and if she is Ricardo's bastard sister that would explain why Eloisa actually stomachs having her and her family at the ranch. Iz Zac is a Lizzaraga brother, he will hate it because he hates them - and he particularly despises Luciano with no good reason just because Aitana fancies him.
I find it interesting how the writing can change the way we look at characters.
I also remember Andres Palacios in Imperio de Mentiras and his other novelas as a galan and I liked him in every one of them.
In this one I can't stand his clingy self and the way he tries to pressure Aitana into a relationship (dude, it's been 18 years). If he is Belinda's father he is capable of contesting Luciano's standing as her real dad.

Forgot to mention the most important part: Thank you for the excellent recaps, Kat! I can't comment as often as I'd like, but I do enjoy reading everything that you write.

Susan, Mateo and Eloisa do give me the strangest vibe, also. A little bit of an Oedipus complex" happening, me thinks.

Liz, I always found it odd when Inigo insisted he wanted to save his marriage. It was all about the family name, of course, but I thought Eloisa would urge him to divorce as soon as they started having problems.

Clara, I think Mateo has had at least another victim besides Aitana. Ximena is likely to become number three on his hit list.

Mateo seems to be the most interesting character of the novela right now. He is being honest with Ximena. Too bad she could die trying to “help” someone who cannot be cured by “the love of a good woman.” Great creepy theme music for him.

Why do I get the feeling Belinda is going to try to ditch her body guard at some point?

This novela is turning put to be more entertaining as it goes on.

It's funny that before this,show started and I saw photos of the brothers in promos, I had never seen the actor playing Mateo before, but I thought he would be playing a good guy . Wow, was I wrong. Has this actor ever played a villain before? He is bringing a unique kind of evil to this role as he clings to mommy, and they whisper their private thoughts to each other . He doesn't seem close to any of his brothers . He hates Zak. He is obsessed with Ximena. Susan

I appreciate all the comments as this story progresses. It has mysterious undertones that keeps us guessing. The lost daughter is the least mysterious, though if it turns out to not be Belinda they will have pulled a surprise on me.

Adriana, thanks for flushing out the probable ages of the brothers. I thought Aitana was possibly younger as I thought maybe she was just a nursing student at the time of the attack. I agree Zac and Luciano are likely about the same age, though growing up on a ranch together you would think as children they would have been playmates and thus good friends now and I don't get that impression. So perhaps Zac is older than them all.

Mateo is a very complex man. (The actor is new to me so unless he has changed his looks for this role so I can't answer your question Susan.) I look forward to learning his backstory.

Mateo certainly looked shocked when he saw that picture of the woman who appeared somewhat similar to Ximena! I think he has a past which will hopefully catch up with him soon. He is just cringeworthy; I don't see how Ximena seems drawn to him.

Susan, I looked up Chris Pascal who plays Mateo.

He was in at least two other TN's I've seen (Fugitivas, which I recapped) and Diseñando tu amor...I am embarrassed to say that I don't remember him in either! When I saw him here, I knew he looked familiar but...I don't think he was a villain in either but I can't say for sure.

I am watching “Pacto de silencio” tv series on Netflix and who should quickly appear and disappear but Christian Ramos. (Hugo from Monteverde” ) . It is always fun seeing actors doing roles outside of telenovelalandia. .
