Kara Para Ask – Black Money Love – Amor de Contrabando – Amor y Dinero Negro
Episode 127 #1 of 8
Husseyn and Ali are visiting in their prison room. Ali tells him that they are worth little in the prison (cara de quinto) and they need to get out. Husseyn says he is told that Tayyar can get him out of the hospital if he gets into the hospital, but Husseyn needs Ali’s help. Ali says it’s impossible. Husseyn asks if he’s changed his mind. Ali answers that it would be very difficult to do it together. Husseyn asks if he wants to be free. Ali says he does. Husseyn tells him then he needs Ali to help him make his wound worse so that he will be admitted to the hospital. He tells Ali to take a pen English) and stab him, making his wound worse. Ali thinks he has lost his mind. Husseyn tells him there’s no other way. Ali reaches over and pulls his coat and shirt back to reach the wound. He lifts the bandage and then stabs him again, much deeper than the original wound. It must really hurt based on Husseyn’s expression; he even grabs Ali’s leg. When he’s done, Ali covers the wound up again.
We see Omer walk out of his office with a CD. He sees Elif pacing back and forth. Pelin comes up and talks to both of them.
Pelin is mainly talking to Omer, telling him to do what he’s planning to do quickly. The prosecutor is calling Asli for a statement.
Elif: Is the lawyer with Asli now?
Pelin: He is, but that’s not enough. She can’t be forced to make a statement.
Elif: Where’s Levent?
Just then Levent comes up the stairs and walks over to Elif.
Levent: Are you sure about this Elif? I still don’t feel comfortable.
Elif tells him she is sure.
Levent: Elif, you don’t look well.
Elif tells him she will do better when Asli gets out.
Omer walks out into the parking area. He climbs into Tayyar’s waiting van. Omer hands Tayyar the CD and the usb: It’s your turn now.
Tayyar tells Omer he presumes he hasn’t done something silly like copying them.
Omer: If it turns out that I have, you can take your revenge.
Tayyar: That’s good. We’re getting to know each other better.
Omer agrees: From my point of view, you’re the only one who’s happy making this acquaintance.
Tayyar grins. He then tells them it’s time to get the show on the road. As they get out of the car, he reminds his lawyer not to forget to get all the hospital reports about Asli. The henchie driver accompanies Tayyar and the lawyer, who carries a briefcase. They walk toward the front door of the police station.
Tayyar comments that Omer isn’t very hospitable: You should be more courteous to us. Just a glass of water would be nice. We might like something to eat and drink. But just watching you clenching your teeth makes me smile. I’ve come to help you and yet you still act bothered. I have to admit that I’ll be glad to say goodbye.
Omer: Laugh all you want, Tayyar. Smiling’s not about money, Tayyar. It’s about turns. Very soon it will be my turn. After you.
They enter the building. Nilufer sees him first, then Elif.
Tayyar: Hello my beautiful daughter-in-law. How are you? It’s been a long time since I saw you.
Nilufer turns away and doesn’t answer.
Tayyar comments that the new generation lacks respect. Elif and Omer watch Tayyar, his lawyer, and the henchie walk down the hall to the prosecutor’s office.

Episode 127 #2 of 8
Elif: First, Husseyn Demir and then Tayyar Dundar. I feel that I’m really being tested.
Omer: Elif, forget about the man. Focus on saving Asli and getting her home.
Tayyar knocks on the prosecutor’s door and is told to come in.
Tayyar: Good day to you, Mr. Prosecutor, I’m Tayyar Dundar. I have information for you about the Zerrin Denizer case.
The prosecutor welcomes him in.
Out in the hall, Nilufer asks Elif if this will work: Will Tayyar’s statement save Asli?
Elif shrugs: I hope it will.
Levent: Don’t worry, have faith, we’ll get Asli out.
Omer looks at Levent, no doubt a little annoyed at Levent’s growing role in this. The sisters hug. Omer smiles at that, and Levent looks annoyed at Omer’s smile. (These two are definitely still rivals.)
Some time later, Nilufer and Levent are still sitting. Elif is pacing. Omer is standing nearby. He finally starts to speak to her when the prosecutor’s door suddenly opens. A policeman tells Asli she is free to go. The three sisters come together and hug.
Asli: Elif, you saved me. I don’t know how you did it, but you did.
Omer has a nice smile on his face watching this.
Asli: I tried to be like my intrepid family.
Levent: Congratulations, Asli. They smile at each other.
They head out of the building to go home. Nilufer reminds them Nedret doesn’t know anything about this, so they shouldn’t bring it up. Asli agrees, saying she’d be the last person she wants to talk to. Elif holds back and turns to Omer. Levent follows the others, but isn’t too excited about Omer talking with Elif.
Elif: Thank you so much. We wouldn’t have been able to get her out without you.
Omer: It was an unjust situation. There’s a bunch of criminals who are loose, and here Asli almost went to prison for something that was an accident.
Elif agrees. She says she should get going and Omer asks to walk with her.
Omer: You should go home and rest. You’ve had a tough day.
Levent is waiting to drive the sisters home and watches them. Omer and Elif look at each other and finally Omer offers her his hand: Have a good evening.
Elif: You, too.
She kisses him and he responds. Levent is looking even more annoyed and finally honks at them.
Omer: Looks like your driver’s getting impatient. Don’t keep him waiting.
Elif: I don’t remember giving you the right to be jealous of me.
Omer: Some rights are taken, not given, Signorina.
Elif: Remind me later, and it will be my turn, but it doesn’t matter to me.
She walks to the car. Omer watches her longingly, and she looks back at him similarly.
Arda comes out and calls to Omer, who appears not to hear him. He calls him again and asks why Omer is looking so pensive.
Omer: I don’t know. It’s just that I’ve never seen Elif give up so easily. She gave up the Foundation list without a fight. She was so angry and then she just gave up.
Arda: Omer, it’s about her sister. It’s natural to want to save her.
Omer: She didn’t react. Makes me suspicious. I know her so well.
Arda: Don’t be suspicious. She chose between the students and Asli, and obviously she would pick her sister.
Omer thinks some more and then tells Arda he needs him to do him a favor.
Omer: Please talk to the warden at the prison where Husseyn and Ali are being held. They should have extra security put on them. Now that Tayyar has the usb, he’s going to want to get rid of them both.
Arda: OK, Omer, don’t worry, I’ll deal with it.

Episode 127 #3 of 8
In the car with Levent driving, Elif asks him: Do we still have the Foundation list?
Levent: It was very difficult as you warned me, but I managed to get it with Mert’s help.
Elif: That’s great! You guys are geniuses.
Levent: Mert called an engineer friend. He helped us break the password, so we managed to copy it.
Elif: Well, then it’s time to get working.
Levent: Agreed. let me know what you want me to do.
We see a hand reach forward from the back seat. Asli asks what they are working on.
Levent: To be happy ever after. We have no other goal from now onwards.
Asli: Well, in that case, I’ll be pleased to help you, Levent.
Nilufer: Why don’t you find a good song to listen to, Levent? We can start being happy right now.
He agrees and turns on the radio, playing the happy theme from this dizi. They all respond to the music. Elif is reminded of happier days and isn’t smiling as much as the others.
Back at the station, Pelin, Arda, and Ipek are working at their desks when Omer walks in.
He asks if they’ve cracked the password. Pelin tells him Ipek is working on it, but so far hasn’t.
Omer: Why is that? Was there a problem when we copied the CD?
Arda: I have no idea. We’ve never missed Emre this much as right now.
Pelin: It would only take him five minutes.
Ipek: I’m not so bad at this, either. I have plenty of IT experience from working on cybercrimes.
Arda. That might be, but Emre is a genius at this.
Ipek: Just a sec. She then announces they can apologize to her now because she has got the list right there.
They all rush over to look at it.
They congratulate Ipek! Omer is excited to have all the names, but he notices Arda looks less happy. Omer asks him why. Shouldn’t they all be content since they have opened the disk?
Arda: And if Tayyar finds out we’ve deceived him?
Omer: He’ll be furious, but it doesn’t matter because he will be going straight to prison. I’m going to tell everyone who the real cheater is.
Pelin: Does the judge know about this? Then the plan will work.
Omer: He does. The plan will work.
Arda: Did Fatih Dundar accept it?
Omer: There’s no reason for him not to accept it. He hates his father and he’s halfway through his own revenge plan against him.
Ipek: You mean we’ll attack Tayyar from both sides?
Omer: Exactly! That’s nice (looking at the list).
At Tayyar’s home.
Tayyar asks Mumtaz what’s worrying him, then tells him not to worry.
Tayyar: If those idiots fooled me and copied the information that’s here, isn’t there is a way to know if they did this?
Mumtaz tells him he can find out using the information experts from the clinic.
Tayyar tells him to do it and let me know what they find out.
Tayyar walks a little and then says: If they wanted to fool me, then Omar and Elif aren’t trustworthy.
Babachita
Episode 127 #4 of 8
Mumtaz: Then why did you help them, sir? I don’t understand. Why did you let Asli out of the jail? If it wasn’t for your help, she wouldn’t have gotten out in 20 years.
Tayyar: The Denizers are about to find out what it is to really suffer, Mumtaz, and when this moments arrives, I will need Asli to be there. One has to think about all the details, right?
Mumtaz: Certainly, Mr. Tayyar. I have news about the plan. A few details are still pending, but all will be well in time.
Tayyar: You always need to bring me good news. Mumtaz, because if you don’t, say goodbye to your family, because there is a direct line to your brain.
Mumtaz looks very sober after hearing this threat.
Tayyar: Now tell me more, please.
Mumtaz: First, Husseyn will be kidnapped. We won’t be able to do both things at the same time, sir. So, we will take Husseyn to a safe place and then we will start with the second part.
Tayyar thinks a bit: Good.
At the mansion, the three sisters and Levent arrive.
Asli: I told you it looked odd. You saw the pictures. It’s very exaggerated what she did with her hair. [I’m not sure what they are referring to here.]
Elif: In reality, it looked bad.
Nedret comes in: Welcome girls. Will one of you tell me what is going on?
The sisters look at one another. Asli: What a treat to see the queen of this house.
Asli hugs Nedret.
Nedret: Do you think you are fooling me?
The girls look at one another.
Nedret: And…?
Elif: Well, Auntie, let’s just say that today was better than yesterday.
Nedret: Then, if that’s what you say, I have to believe you. (Nedret gives her nasty little laugh.)
Can joins them, calling Asli “Mom,” and hugs her very tightly.
Asli is happily surprised.
He asks her where she was. He tells her he had been calling her.
Asli: I’m trying to be a good mother for you, OK?
Can: All you need to do is be by my side.
They hug again. Both sisters show tears of joy at this.
Asli: That’s enough sentimentalism. Better let’s go see a movie. Now.
Asli, Can, and Nilufer leave the room, going upstairs to see the movie. Elif goes to Levent: Thank you for everything, Levent.
Levent: It was nothing, Elif. I need to talk to your aunt over some things from work. It will only be five minutes. It’s late.
Elif: It’s OK. See you later.
The others call from upstairs for her to join them.
After she goes upstairs, Levent and Nedret talk.
Nedret: Why do you have that expression? I’ve never seen you look that way. Did something happen?
Levent: I need that DNA test now, for tomorrow if possible.
Nedret: How? We have to wait so that they will believe it. We don’t want to ruin things. They said it will take six or eight weeks.
Levent: I understand, but we have little time. If we don’t do it now, Elif and Omer will get back together.
Nedret: Don’t be absurd, Levent! Where did you get that?
Levent: Every day that goes by, the ice between them is melting. I saw how they were looking at each other, with eyes full of love.
Nedret is very impactada at this news.

Episode 127 #5 of 8
The next morning, Asli is stirring in her bed when Elif comes in fully dressed. Elif tells her she moved back into her room after receiving some kicks, presumably from her sister. Elif tells Asli she has lots to do. Asli tells her no one will move her from her bed all day. She says she dreamed she was condemned to 20 years and she had to share her cell with a woman who cut her hair, who was ugly and bearded.
Elif: Surely you provoked her first.
Asli tells her to start running or she will receive her fury, and Elif runs out of the room.
The sisterly banter was fun to observe.
Downstairs we see Levent and Nedret in the entryway. Nedret asks if he is better. He says he is. He’s grateful to Nedret that she has solved it so quickly.
Elif comes skipping down the stairs, just as Levent takes what looks like the DNA report out of his pocket.
Elif: Good day.
Levent: Good day.
Elif, looking at his face: Did something happen?
Levent, seemingly uncomfortable, tells her he has the DNA results.
Nedret, playing along: And why are you bringing DNA results? Don’t tell me it’s for that boy.
Elif takes the envelope and tells Nedret they will discuss this later. Outside in the garden Elif sits and prepares to open the envelope. Levent is behind her. Nedret is watching through the window.
Levent finally asks her if she isn’t going to look at the results.
Down below, on the waterfront, Nilufer is waiting and Omer drives up. She asks him why he came so early. She is afraid he has bad news about Asli. He tells her to get in the car.
Nilufer: First tell me what this is about. If you called me instead of Elif, it can’t be good.
Omer: Nilufer, it’s getting late. You will lose this opportunity.
Nilufer: What?
Omer: Fatih.
Nilufer smiles and gets in the car.
Omer teases: Look how fast you changed your mind.
Nilufer: You know you should have started with that. She asks if she will be seeing him.
Omer: You’ll find out. By the way, you are in debt to me.
Back in the garden, Elif opens the report. It shows a 99.9% match.
Levent joins her: Bad news?
Elif: I don’t know why, but I was hoping.
Levent: I’m sorry.
Elif: In that packet I thought I had invented it all about the boy. All the insinuating that he wasn’t a son. I believed that. I’m so stupid.
Levent: There is always a small possibility that they are wrong, although it’s a prestigious lab. So not very likely, but if you need it, we can ask them to repeat the test.
Elif: I didn’t expect this result. There was a little voice inside me telling me that it wasn’t his son. Now, there’s a very large crack. There couldn’t be more darkness.
Levent: I’d like to be able to do something for you.
Elif: She wipes her brow: It’s not that bad news. Now there is a father. Serhat died, but there is still a father, and this is a good thing.
Levent agrees.
Elif: It’s good. We have to be happy for this boy. He’s very small and he will feel protected and Omer will be a wonderful father, unlike that psychopath Serhat. That is what I hope for.
Levent: Elif, you have a very large heart. You are a good person.
She can’t talk anymore and walks away to look over the water. She is very impactada and tears fall.

Episode 127 #6 of 8
At the prison, Ali is hovering over Husseyn. He tells him the wound won’t stop bleeding. Husseyn tells him to get help because he feels like he is dying. Ali goes to the door and starts yelling for a guard. When the guard appears, he tells him that a man is bleeding and that they need to get him to the hospital because he is dying. The guard goes in and takes one look at Husseyn and calls for an ambulance.
Nilufer and Omer are sitting in a restaurant. Omer offers her tea and she asks what they are doing there. He orders two teas. She tells him she thought he was taking her to Fatih. Omer tells her he will be joining them.
Nilufer: How? Did they let him out of prison? Don’t fool me. I know that there is still a month before the judgment.
Omer: There weren’t any charges filed so he was released.
Nilufer: Is he at the tribunal now?
Omer: Yes.
Nilufer stands up: What are we doing here? I have to be with my husband.
Omer: Nilufer, please calm down. Impatience is bad for your tennis elbow. Nilufer sees Fatih walking up and runs to him. They embrace.
Omer watches their happy reunion.
At Arda’s, Ipek is getting Yaz dressed for his sitter and tells him she doesn’t want any complaints. She tells him the girl is very nice and that he needs to behave well for her until she can return from work.
Yaz: Don’t go to work. Stay with me here.
She tells him they talked about this already: Mothers work.
The doorbell rings. It’s Elif. Ipek is surprised. Elif tells her she needs to talk with her. Ipek tells Yaz to behave and goes out front with Elif. Ipek asks what happened.
Elilf: You weren’t lying. Omer is the father of your son. May you be happy together. That day that I came here I was very hard on you, I offended you.
Ipek: Don’t worry.
Elif turns to leave, leaving Ipek very impactada.
Back to Omer with Fatih and Nilufer at the restaurant. Omer is telling them that there is a usb in Tayyar’s house that documents all his crimes. That is if he hasn’t made it disappear, of course.
Nilufer asks him if he’s not sure, why is he telling them about it. Fatih tells his princess to relax and listen.
Omer: You will get back into Tayyar’s confidence. You will become his right hand as before. At some point he will speak to you about his past work. You will keep us informed about all of this. Nilufer: What you are suggesting is absurd and dangerous. Tayyar isn’t going to trust Fatih anymore.
Fatih: Don’t worry, princess, I will be fine. I’m not a child.
Nilufer: He tried to kill me and later you tried to kill him. He will want revenge against you. I won’t let this happen.
Fatih: Even so, I will do it. I want him to rot in jail.
Fatih puts his arm around Nilufer, who realizes she isn’t winning this argument.
Babachita
Episode 127 #7 of 8
Fatih: Also, you said you wanted to know the real Fatih and live with him, right? This is our opportunity; there won’t be another chance. Metin has been getting out of control lately. Don’t let that monster ruin our lives. Metin makes Tayyar happy. They should disappear together and I will do it.
Nilufer considers this while the men wait.
Nilufer: OK.
Omer: Something else, so that you can gain his confidence, Tayyar is going to have to believe that you two are no longer together. This is the last time you will see each other, not even talk on the phone, until Tayyar has been trapped.
Nilufer and Fatih are both impactado. Fatih: Omer, let me be alone with my wife even if it’s only for an hour.
Omer: OK, but just an hour.
Omer leaves them and walks out of the restaurant.
Nilufer: Fatih, it’s dangerous, you know it.
Fatih: Listen princess, think about it. After this we will be free. We will be able to do what we want without the shadow of Tayyar. Don’t you see this? We can have a family, children…
Nilufer looks at him and reaches out for a long embrace.
Fatih: Nilufer, do you know that near here is a lovely time, what do you think?
Nilufer embraces him, smiling.
Fatih asks for the bill and tells the waiter to hurry.
Omer gets a phone call as he’s leaving. It’s Elif.
Elif: Hello Omer. Can we meet?
Omer: Why? Has something happened?
Elif: Come to the house and we can talk.
Omer: I’m close and will be there shortly.
In the prison, Husseyn is brought back to the group room. Ali is there to receive him. The guard tells Ali that they need to get Husseyn ready to be sent to the hospital. The doctor gave his permission, so the guard tells them he will be back to get Husseyn soon.
Husseyn and Ali secretly smile at one another.
Husseyn asks Ali when he will leave here. Ali tells him he thinks they will take him out after Husseyn.
Husseyn: Do you think something has happened? If Tayyar betrays us I will look for the usb and will get it to Omer.
Ali helps him to get ready and Husseyn tells him to be careful with his wound.
Husseyn is making an ugly face, probably from the pain.
At the pink house, Elif is picking up the things that she had thrown after the breakup, including pictures and books. She is very sad while doing this.
Back at the prison, Husseyn’s face is truly scary. Husseyn asks Ali if he also will go to Denmark. Ali: No, I’m going to Germany. Tayyar knows that the family of my wife lives there. They will help us. This may be the last time that we see one another.
Husseyn: You think?
Ali nods: We have been through a lot. I disliked you most of the time, but in reality you are a good guy. I wish you lots of luck.
Babachita
Episode 127 #8 of 8
Husseyn wishes him the same. He tells Ali he will really need good luck. They hug. Ali wishes him luck and Husseyn the same.
[We keep getting close ups of these two former policemen, both showing serious expressions. I’m starting to wonder if this is foreshadowing that they won’t be loyal to each other. Maybe I’m just too used to betrayals in this dizi. They might also be looking serious because they looked out for one another. On their own, they will be vulnerable to attack from other inmates.]
Guards arrive calling for Husseyn. Ali puts Husseyn’s coat on and he then walks out of the room with the guards. As he leaves, Ali warns Husseyn he needs to be very careful: Except for me there is nobody you can trust. You are alone. Be careful.
Husseyn looks at Ali with a worried, surprised expression.
The guards tell Husseyn to move.
We see Fatih and Nilufer joyously run into a hotel room. Fatih tells her he has waited for this moment so much. They kiss and start removing clothing. He tells her he hasn’t been able to breathe. They both laugh. Nilufer tells him that she will die if something happens to him. This being a dizi, we don’t get to see any more. But I like to think it was a very special time for this couple.
Elif is waiting with tea in the pink house. Omer runs up to the door and uses his key.
Omer: Elif, what’s up?
Elif: It looks like we need to talk. Come in, sit, and let’s have some tea. Omer sits beside her on the sofa.
Elif: I’ve been thinking. We need to make a decision.
Omer: What decision? What are you referring to?
Elif: It doesn’t make sense that this house sits empty. It should be yours or mine. Or maybe someone can live here who needs a place. Ipek, for example. She has been living in Arda’s house, and this isn’t good for Yaz. They could live here and there’s lots of space.
Omer: Elif, stop. No one else has a right to live in our dream. Do you really want Ipek to live in our house?
Elif: OK. Then let me keep the house. I want to do it. I plan to close the workshop anyway and I could work here.
Omer is very impactado.
Elif: Could you give me your key?
Omer reluctantly gets the key from his pocket. She opens her hand and he places the key in it. He is still wearing his wedding band. They hold hands briefly. She thanks him.
Eliof: You should give me that band.
Omer, at the same time: If that’s all, I’ll leave. May you be fine.
Elif: You take care.
He walks back toward the stairs.
He turns: Elif, why all of this?
Elif: I don’t. know. Don’t you think it’s time to end once and for all what we built? We have to look forward.
Omer: It makes sense. You should look forward.
Elif: We both should.
Omer walks down the stairs.
Elif is very impactada.
End of Episode 127
Babachita
Thanks, Babachita! Much appreciated as always.
I get wanting to get Asli out of jail but Omer making a deal with Tayyar is a bad omen... I guess technically it wasn't illegal since the stolen student list wasn't actual evidence, but it's unethical for sure! And ironic coming from the man who started off the ditzi judging Elif for money laundering under any circumstances - even to save Nilu.
Then he's making deals with Fatih and helping to arrange meet-ups with Fatih and Nilu??? He's definitely firming into a dark gray area.
I never warmed up to Levent, and the DNA test is the nail in the coffin. He's not a good guy, he may not be as bad as some others but he's selfish and self-serving. He's not good for any of our characters, not Elif or Asli!
I’m neutral on Levent at this stage. When Bahar brought him into the story, he was flawed but she was the main plotter in their scheme. Surprisinhly, he doesn’t bother me now.
You have a good argument that Omer is operating in gray areas more than earlier. I know detectives often have to bend things to get their end result, so some of this is his job. Also, his brother being the villain may have shaken his convictions. He seems completely focused on getting the job done. I worry about Nilu and Fatih. But Tayyar is so evil, perhaps Omer has to cut some corners.
Thank you for piquing my thoughts. I’m going to be questioning his moral judgment now!
Babachita
Another great recap, Babachita. Thanks! You know I watch the Turkish version along with the Spanish. Some small notes.
When Elmer said goodbye outside the station while Levent impatiently waited in the car, Omer told Elif, “don't keep the Director of Trivial Matters waiting—he'll get bored.” Omer’s jealousy cracks me up.
Ali and Huseyin didn’t wish each other luck when they said goodbye. They asked forgiveness of each other—hakkini helal et. At least Ali gave Huso a warning. Ali said “you can’t trust anyone.” He didn’t make an exception for himself.
ITA about Omer. He’s walking a fine line.
Sorry #128 is late. I’ll post shortly.
#128 part 1
Omer gives Elif the key to the pink house and leaves. He stands out front for a moment and twists the engagement ring on his finger. He kisses it and goes. Elif stares at the key in her hand.
Huseyin is in a hospital room. The gendarme is there with him. Huso thinks about the last words Ali said to him: “take care of yourself. Remember, in this world, you have no one to trust but yourself. You’re on your own.” A nurse enters and tells the gendarme that the doctor asked to see the patient alone. And there are documents for him to sign.
The gendarme says that’s not possible, he has orders. The nurse says it will only take two minutes, and the hospital is a safe place. The hospital guard says he will stay. The gendarme reluctantly leaves and the guard steps outside.
The nurse hands a phone to Huso. It’s Tayyar. He asks, how are you, Huseyin? We are growing old together. Every time we talk, one of us is in the hospital. Huso’s not in the mood for pleasant chat. Tell me what you want, he says, the gendarme could return at any moment. Tayyar explains, the boat is ready, you won’t go back to prison. We were going to take you when you came to the hospital, but you’re being protected like the president. Your apprentice, Omer, is doing his job well.
What did you expect, Huso asks, did you get scared? Estağfirullah, Tayyar replies, you’re in the hospital tonight and will receive treatment. Tomorrow, we’ll sort things out when you’re transferred back to prison. From there a ship to Greece and from there, to Denmark. Huso asks, Ali is coming to Denmark with me, right? I was happy to hear it. He said he spoke to you. Tayyar says that’s right. We can’t separate the comrades. Huso smiles at the confirmation of his suspicions and says, yes, I’ll be waiting for your news.
Huso asks the nurse to let him make another call. But the nurse takes the phone and leaves. Huso curses himself for being such an idiot to trust Tayyar.
Nilu and Fatih leave the hotel. He gets a taxi for her and tells her to go straight home. She doesn’t want to leave him. But he has to go. You are my only purpose in this life, he says, the only thing I think about. But I guess I’m unknowingly causing you pain, like my father did to my mother. No, never, Nilu replies, I’m happy. You love me, I’m happy. Is it possible not to love you, he says, just hold on a little longer. This separation will end, I promise. The taxi comes. He tells her he loves her and asks her to tell him the same.
Nilu says, I don’t know, you always send me away, you always let go of my hand. Fatih swears this will be the last time. Believe me. They kiss. She gets in the taxi. Don’t look at me like that, he says, and you don’t say anything. Don’t leave me halfway. She remains sad and silent. He closes the door. The cab goes a short distance and stops. Nilu jumps out and runs to Fatih and they embrace. I love you so much, she says, more than anything. I won’t leave you halfway. I’m always by your side. Kisses. She gets back in the cab.
Elif and Levent go over the foundation list at the pink house. There are lots of names. She wonders how to find out which students are involved in Tayyar’s business. Levent has filtered out the students who are abroad. Elif calls him a genius. He says he got some great help from Mert. Before Elif can say anything, there’s a knock at the door. It’s Demet and Mert. Elif doesn’t look happy. Mert explains they came to help. Levent told him what happened.
#128 part 2
Elif is very unhappy. She doesn’t want anyone’s involvement and especially, Mert’s. She’s even keeping her sisters out of this. She realizes the good intentions but still she wants them to go. Mert makes his case. The reason for all this is my father. He ruined your life Elif, let us contribute. Demet says, Mert told me what happened. You helped me, you gave me hope. And you’ve suffered more than enough. I know this doesn’t make up for anything. But let us be by your side.
Demet takes Elif’s hand. The people you are fighting are our fathers. We know them best. We know their weaknesses. Elif manages to smile and tells Demet she’s sweet. They hug. She hugs Mert, too. They get down to work.
Omer and co are also working the list in the squad room. Omer puts a name on the board—Gonul Aydin. She’s studying law in England. She’ll arrive tomorrow. Tayyar found another victim from a poor family. In this case, the girl is blind. He’s using a blind girl because he knows they won’t search her at exit and entry.
Ipek asks, what will we do? Omer says they will meet her like they did with Hatice. And we will see who receives the package. We’ll follow them until they meet with Tayyar. Arda says another person is meeting Gonul. [due to Gonul’s visual impairment?] Pelo volunteers Ipek to do that job. Ipek agrees.
Meanwhile, Elif identifies Gonul, too, and says she always has an escort due to her impairment. Mert confirms that one of the students from the foundation or a company employee meets her. Demet volunteers to meet Gonul. She’s my age, she says, we could become friends. Elif refuses to put anyone else in such danger and says she’ll go. Demet doesn’t think it’s a good idea. Elif is famous and she could be recognized. Somehow, they have to replace the person coming to meet Gonul.
I didn’t quite understand this in either Turkish or Spanish. I think the squad has somehow figured out who will meet Gonul. We’ll see.
The gendarme with Huso needs to use the restroom. He asks the nurse to stay while he’s gone. Huso asks the nurse to use her phone while the guard is out. I need to call my wife and child to ask for forgiveness. I’m leaving and there’s a chance I might not return. I don’t know what will happen on the way. You’ll understand if you have children. She gives him the phone and warns, be quick. Huso asks her to wait at the door and let him know when the guard comes back.
Huso calls Svetlana. Hello? I heard you were leaving today. Huseyin, if you want an explanation, she says, believe me, Omer didn’t give me another choice. I had to do it. My heart is bleeding. Huso doesn’t need an explanation. I can imagine what you had to go through, he replies, it’s not easy to escape Omer. If it wasn’t you, he would have caught me another way. Where are you? Did you get Burhan?
How could I, Sveta says, I have no money. The police took everything. Where would I take my son? At least I have the comfort of knowing your mother is taking care of him. Huso says he will help her. She says hurry. I can’t keep living in hotels, far away from my son. Huso says he’s got nothing left, too, but he’s thinking of something. He needs to get to a safe place first. I’ll ask one last favor, he says, you’ve made mistake and hurt me,, but I’m not going to say anything about that. If you do what I ask, I’ll forget everything. And then you, me, and Burhan will be free.
#128 part 3
Elif’s group is still trying to find a way to solve the Gonul issue. Demet finally says to ask Omer. Strenuous objection from Elif. Omer doesn’t know I have this list and he can’t know. Levent pipes up, we don’t need Omer’s help. We’ll manage without him. We deciphered the list by ourselves, and we’ll find the escort ourselves. Elif thanks Levent for trusting her. No one else has trusted her this much. They don’t see the Elif I see, he replies. Demet and Mert look a bit uncomfortable.
Fatih shows up at Tayyar’s house, but the guards won’t let him in. Tayyar’s orders. Fatih calls Tayyar. Tayyar looks out his window at Fatih and launches into an expletive filled tirade. He threatens to kill Fatih. Fatih answers, I’m your son and this is my father’s house. Fatih throws a few expletives, too.
Tayyar snaps back—what father? You tried to kill me! You pulled the trigger three times in front of me! I endured it! This settles the score from your childhood. Enough! I’m finished with you! I don’t plan to give you a penny or any power! I’m erasing you! What are you erasing, Fatih replies, you wouldn’t dare, you won’t get away with it. Tayyar says, I’ll do something in such a way, wait and see. My answer is coming. The call ends but Fatih shouts at the window. You owe me! You owe me your life! Tayyar walks away from the window.
A henchie comes out of the house and hands Fatih inheritance documents from Tayyar. It says he inherited a piece of land. The deed is in the document. Tayyar bey donates all his possessions to the Foundation and to Mert Dundar, his only heir. The henchie leaves. Fatih says to himself, So, there’s nothing for Fatih. He shouts at the house—I worked as a slave at your door for years. I was your hitman. You can keep your *bleep* land. Fatih throws the document over the wall.
Omer calls Fatih. Where are you? I’m at my father’s house, Fatih replies. Omer asks if everything is okay. Fatih says yes, no problems. Omer asks if Tayyar suspects anything. Of course he was a little angry at first, Fatih answers, but now that he’s vented, he’s relaxed. We’re on good terms. Don’t worry. I’ll stay close to him. Good, Omer says, gain his trust, step by step.
Late night at the station. Pelo and Arda are asleep at her desk. Ipek brings Omer coffee then tells him he looks tired, maybe he should sleep. She asks if he wants a massage. [?!] No need, Omer says. She pulls up a chair. You used to like it when I gave you massages, didn’t you? Omer says he doesn’t remember.
Ipek notes, you never asked me why I ended things. When I came to Istanbul, I was constantly rehearsing what to tell you in case you ever asked. But you never did and I had to keep my explanations to myself. I didn’t ask because we can’t change the past, Omer replies. She asks, what about the future? He replies, what do you want? Will you listen to me, she says, maybe we’re strangers now, but we owe this to the two dreamy kids from the academy. So I’m going to explain and you’re going to listen.
Elif and Levent are alone now. He tells her he will always support her. Call me if anything. She’s been doodling on paper and didn’t hear. What did you say? Levent says, he never deserved you. She asks, who? I’m talking about Omer, he says, he doesn’t even deserve you thinking about him. I don’t think she wants to talk about it.
Levent makes his move. He grabs her hands—Elif… I can’t stand seeing you like this. You opened your heart to a man who doesn’t deserve you and you still don’t even see me. This hurts me so much. She tries to remove her hands. He grabs them again. It’s not possible you still don’t understand me. He blurts—I’ve been in love with you since the first day I saw you. The day we first met.
#128 part 4
Omer and Ipek take a walk outside the station. She says, I left you and went to Bursa. I was going to start the wedding prep, but my brother had disappeared when I arrived. One day Serhat called me and said he could help me. He was a childhood friend of ours, so I never doubted his intentions. He told me to come, that he found him. He took me to a deserted place at night and said my brother was there. He locked me in a house. She tearfully says, he raped me.
Omer is stunned. Ipek continues, I resisted as much as I could, but it was impossible. He was much stronger than me. I found out my brother was in trouble with a mafia boss in Bursa. So Serhat threatened me. He said he would tell where my brother was if I accused him. They would find him and kill him. I was so scared that my mother would be left alone if my brother died.
Why didn’t you ask for help, Omer says, why didn’t you tell me? How can you say something like that to your loved one, she replies. If you told me I would have held that guy accountable, Omer says. I felt tainted, Ipek says, I always blamed myself for going there on my own. After all, I was a police officer at the beginning of my career. A little girl who grew up without a father. I didn’t know who to turn to or how.
Ipek continues, my mother… I told her… and she said, “marry Serhat. There’s no other way out for you now.” The only thing she cared about was an old house that Serhat promised her. One night, I found myself at the wedding table. I wasn’t myself. Then you came. I wanted to run to you and hug you. I wanted to tell you everything, but I couldn't. Even after the marriage, the torture didn’t end. I endured it for Yagiz and my brother. Then my brother mended his relationship with the mafia and married the girl he loved. With the money she got from Serhat, my mother lived the life she couldn’t with my father. But in the end, I was left alone, unloved.
Omer put his arm around Ipek. Why didn’t you ever tell me? She says she’s doing it now. Years have passed, he says, I would have helped you heal. There are things that don’t change despite the years, she answers. For example, you haven’t changed for me. I’ve changed, Omer replies.
Ipek asks, and if I had told you? Omer says, we would have grown up together as two kids. Innocent kids with dreams and hopes. I think the one you miss isn’t me now. It’s the old me. The one you put your hopes in. I know you so well. You would never fall in love with a man who’s in love with another woman. Ipek understands. She gets up from the bench.
Elif and Levent are dealing with his stunning declaration of love. I made a huge mistake, he says, I’m really sorry. It just slipped out. It must be lack of sleep. I don’t know, but I’ve been holding this in for months, and now you know. She replies, Levent, you’re a great person. I’m flattered. But it’s not possible. I know, I know, he quickly answers, it’s not possible. He gets up—I have to go. Elif says he doesn’t have to go. It’s late, and we have to get the girl tomorrow morning. Levent says he has to go. I’ll be here early in the morning.
Omer walks over to Ipek. We’re friends, right? No answer, but maybe there was a very slight nod of acknowledgement. Omer says, let’s go inside. Ipek wants to get more fresh air. He goes inside.
We see Elif on her bed. She looks at the bracelet Omer gave her. Omer returns to the squad room. Arda and Pelo are still asleep at her desk. Elif looks at Omer’s picture on her phone. And Omer looks at Elif’s pic on his. Omer twists his ring then kisses it.
#128 part 5
Tayyar heads to his van in the morning. He intends to go to the foundation first and then the hospital. The door opens and, surprise, Fatih is sitting inside. Tayyar shouts—get out of my car! Fatih says, I only want 5 minutes. Imagine it’s a business meeting. I assure you it will be to your advantage. Tayyar gets in.
Omer and crew are in a van at the airport watching the live cameras. Arda is out front. Is there any news, Omer asks him. Not yet. Pelo says Gonul’s plane has already landed. A taxi pulls up and a young woman gets out. I guess she’s there for Gonul. Arda stops her and flashes his badge. He asks for her ID. She hands it over. Arda tells her there was a complaint filed. She has to go to the station. Arda hands her over to Tolga and another cop to take her. The girl objects—I haven’t done anything! They take her away.
It’s time for Ipek to step in. Omer tells her to remember to say she’s from Tayyar’s foundation. If Gonul suspects anything she could try to escape. We will be here watching. Ipek says, I didn’t graduate from the academy yesterday, Omer, I know what to do.
Ipek heads for the entrance. Omer spots Gonul on camera and informs Ipek. She’s coming out, wearing a blue coat. She’s using a mobility cane. Ipek approaches and Elif suddenly appears and takes Gonul by the arm.
Elif tells Gonul, sorry, we almost forgot your luggage. Thanks for getting it, Gonul replies, my brother would have killed me. Ipek reports to Omer. He sees what happened and gives a big exhale in frustration. Damn it! He hops out of the van. Elif is playing cop again.
Elif tells Gonul she studies Industrial Design. I’d like to go to London just like you. I still have to take the exams. Gonul says the foundation will help her with whatever she needs. Elif asks if she knows Hatice. She was studying medicine in London. Yes, I know her, Gonul replies, she’s a nice, hardworking girl, but I heard she got into trouble. Big trouble, Elif says.
#128 part 6
Omer follows Elif and Gonul. Then he runs ahead of them. He stops in front of them and opens a taxi door. Ladies, here’s your taxi. Omer glares at Elif. She’s surprised, then ticked. You’re confused, she tells him. He tries taking the suitcase. Omer tries to bargain to get them in the cab. Elif says her brother will take them. Levent drives up and Elif says, there he is. The ladies get in the car. Omer looks at Levent and grumbles, I swear I’ll break your face.
Levent asks Elif, what did that guy want? Was he bothering you? She says, no, he was confused. He thought we were customers. Elif asks Gonul, where are we going? She notes that Gonul’s luggage is very heavy. Gonul says that it’s not just her things. Her brother sells perfume. I bring them from London.
Omer and Ipek are following them. He complains about Elif and Levent playing cop. He’s ticked that Ipek did nothing when she saw Elif. Ipek thinks that would have made the situation worse. They argue a bit. Ipek finally asks Omer if he’s worried about Elif’s safety or if he’s just dying of jealousy. Omer admits to jealousy.
Elif asks Gonul how she found out about the foundation. They found me, Gonul says, I think they are always looking for successful students. They gave me a scholarship and changed my life. I would have had to stop studying. Tayyar Bey is a noble man. I can study and see my family often. My expenses are covered. Elif says she heard something else about the foundation. You can earn extra income if you want. Do you know about that? Gonul says she doesn’t know.
Selma returns home with her son. Svetlana is waiting outside her building and stops her. She wants to talk. Selma invites her in.
Levent arrives at Gonul’s destination. He gets her luggage. There is a man outside waiting. Levent offers to walk Gonul to the house. She declines. She knows the way. Elif and Levent get back in the car and watch Gonul enter the house with her bro. Elif and Levent know that Omer’s been following them, but they don’t see his car.
Gonul’s brother leaves the house with the suitcase and drives away. Levent follows him. And Omer follows Levent. Omer complains about Levent again. Omer tells Ipek to send their location to Arda.
And we are out.
Excellent as always, Dondi! Thank you!
And the annon comment above on Babachita's recap was mine. My computer keeps signing me out for some reason and I don't notice.
It's so much more fun to watch Omer and Elif bicker than just stare longingly at each other!
I've been wanting to know Ipek's story and now we do. Sad. I can't imagine being encouraged to marry your rapist. I know it's a thing that happens in some cultures, but I just can't imagine...
Gonul doesn't seem to have any idea what she is doing unless I understood incorrectly. It's horrible and smart of Tayyar to use a blind girl who can do is bidding without ever knowing what he is making her do.
