I am re-posting to the new page my rather late recap of Wednesday's episode.
Miércoles – Part 1 of 2 Antonia and Fernando get in some good digs at Cruz as he’s being booked. Fer says that, unlike Antonia, Cruz will be safe in his cell.
Graciela tries to believe Cruz is not a bad guy and argues with Lobo about it.
Eugenio is very good comforting Adela. He says that violet attacks scar a person, but she’ll recover with time.
Nacho is seeing social media react to his father’s arrest. He’s very upset that Leonor is freaking out about the valuables being removed from her house (that was quick). We see Sué’s expression of “of course that’s what she cares about” when Nacho accuses his mother of being heartless. Leonor goes on to tell her sons that Cruz hit her and was unfaithful [not exactly Mother of the Year].
Renata asks her mother how she fell in love with Lobo and is told it was like a movie. We get flashbacks of the long-ago rescue. She spins a fairy tale and says that wolves protect their packs. She tells Renata that Antonia left the country.
Alejandro calls Miranda with the news about Ant’s promotion and the arrest of Cruz. She replies that the trip to the border must be accelerated. And he tells her that people in San Ysidro are circulating photos of she and of Renata. Miranda thinks it’s Lobo.
Magola tells Plácido and his sons about Remedios's death. Oscar rightfully blames himself (for shooting at a cop). Plácido is overcome and is barely restrained by his sons from going to where her body is.
Hugo, Fernando, and Antonia (Our Team) find out that the feds took possession of Remedios’ body. Later we see that El Az has gotten it, so someone must have been bribed. They decide Antonia will grill Cruz while Fer and Hugo will work on Cocula possibly ratting out Cruz. Our Team decide that Antonia’s statement to the press must reveal Gustavo’s money laundering.
Leonor goes on and on about her humiliation, and César walks away.
Close to Remedios’ body, El Az fires shots in the air for those who will pay: Antonia, Lobo, Cruz, and Miranda.
Lobo talks with Santi and castigates himself for telling Miranda he’d take Renata away from her. He’s not sure that telling Renata about being her bio dad will be good for her. He asks Santi’s permission to allow some agents to come into his home.
Antonia is great at the presser. She announces the seizure of lots of weapons at El Az’s place. And that Oscar García fired at a police officer and is wanted for this crime. Next, she says that Cruz is in custody for his criminal relationship with Plácido García. She goes on to say that Crux was part of a money laundering scheme with the late Gustavo de la Colina. We also have evidence that Cruz orchestrated the attack on Gustavo de la Colina.
Miércoles – Part 2 of 2 Graciela wheedled her way into the presser, and we see her shock. Antonia describes how the three worked. García selling the arms, Gustavo hiding the money, and Cruz covering up the whole scheme. We believe that De la Colina tried to stop working with them, motivating Cruz and García to plan to kill him. They also shot Sra. De la Colina. Graciela pipes up to say it’s all a lie and that Antonia is only after Cruz’s job.
Oops! Miranda is playing the presser on her phone, and Renata wakes up, recognizing Antonia’s voice. [I'm surprised our smart cookie Renata doesn't call her mother on having said Antonia was out of town.]
Lobo asks the agents he used to work with to use all their resources to find Renata and Miranda. He says that Renata is his daughter. He also goes on to say that Alejandro is her accomplice and to watch for the two of them making contact.
Nemesio Carillo Ibarra, aka Cocula, is being interviewed by Fer and Hugo. They have proof he got big bucks the day De la Colina was killed. And that further payments arrived from Cruz’s account. He’s told that they know he’s supposed to say nothing, but that he should also fear for the safety of his wife. [Guess Adela didn’t know the identity of the masked rapist; Hugo is calm interviewing him.] In the end he clams up.
We’re back to Renata questioning her mother about what she heard Antonia say. Miranda says that Gustavo was just a businessman, and Antonia is saying this to get her job back. Renata insists Ant is not like that but then looks confused.
Antonia meets with Cruz and shows him the video of El Az giving him a lot of money. Antonia is masterful in countering Cruz’s saying the video was part of a scheme to entrap El Azufrero. Then she shows him the transfers of money to Colula. He loses his cool.
Plácido prays over his mother’s body. Magola comes in to say that Oscar is wanted for shooting the cop. Hothead Oscar says he’ll kill the guy.
When Cruz denies everything, Antonia asks where he got such a fortune. Overtime? Why’d you kill Gustavo? Was he going to report you? Or was it because he stopped covering up the money? Or was it because you and García were after his fortune? His reply is that she hates him for putting her papí in prison for corruption. She fires back that he’s been trying for months to get his hands on Renata as the key to the money.
Alone with his lawyer, Cruz tells him that Cocula won’t talk. Wow! Cruz’s lawyer is corrupt. When Cruz tells him to let Antonia know that she’ll lose what she loves most if she keeps this up, he doesn’t turn a hair and agrees to this.
Graciela gives dumb blondes a bad name by standing up for Cruz. She insists on seeing him.
Nacho comes to see his father, who says it’s politics and all a lie.
Eugenio is attacked on the street by a guy in a hoodie. We end on a scene of Eugenio with a knife at his throat. This is another cliffhanger we won’t discuss if the outcome is shown in a preview.
When Hothead Oscar said he would kill whoever was responsible for Remedios' death, I yelled at the screen "Fue tú!" It was you! for starting a gun battle.
I am glad Santi and Fer got married on last Monday's episode. I can imagine a plot reason for that.
#52 part 1
Ferit’s ominous questioning of Pelin continues. You think you’re allowed to date someone else? You think you can forget me that quickly? He backs her up against a desk. You think you can just forget our first kiss? The first time we held hands? Our first night together? He has his hand on her waist. You… you are mine, and nobody else’s. Never forget that. I’ll remind you, Pelin because it seems you have forgotten. [Ferit is scary creepy. Awful for Pelo.]
Pelo moves him back. We broke up, Ferit, okay? I’ll remind you of that. You dumped me. I cried and begged but you didn’t care. What did you expect? You told me this had to happen. It’s not easy. I’m going through a lot, but I feel better every day. Don’t do this! You think you’re good for me? You’re not!
Ferit makes mockingly sympathetic faces. Wow, who’d have thought? You surprise me. I want to know everything. Tell me, what do you do when you’re alone? I bet he comes over often. Do you watch movies on the couch? Where does he sit? Does he hold your hand? Do you hold his? Have you kissed?
Pelo doesn’t answer. Ferit pulls her in. I’m asking if you’ve kissed. Pelo looks at him but can’t speak. Okay, he says, since you can still look me in the face, you haven’t kissed him yet. Pelo looks away. I’m dying to know what happened, he asks, don’t you like my questions? Ferit has her by the arm and shakes her a bit. Pelo resists—it’s none of your business, stop asking me stupid questions!
None of my business, Ferit asks, are you crazy? Answer me! He shakes Pelo again. She snaps back, I’ll ask the same thing! How many times have you kissed Seyran? Have you slept together? What do you do when you’re alone?
Ferit responds-- ask, sister, ask! Ask whatever you want! But answer my questions first. Are you going to cry? Go on, cry. Hadi! If you tell me the truth, if you tell me you kissed, I won’t say anything. But I want to know the truth. Answer before I go crazy!
Pelo shouts—no! No, we haven’t kissed! Ferit asks, has he held your hand? Have you held his? She answers, you’re sick, Ferit. You’re not well. You’re not yourself and I’m worried about you. Ferit laughs—my Pelo! He puts his hands on her face, her hair. Doorbell rings. Ah, great, Ferit says, Burak is here. I’ll open the door for him! Pelo tries to stop him.
Ferit waits before opening… üç, iki, bir! (3, 2, 1.) Serter is there. Ferit snarks, ah … Burak… you’ve changed a lot. Serter asks Pelo if she’s okay. Pelo says she’s fine, but Ferit says there is a problem…and it’s you. He puts his hands on Serter’s shoulders and pushes him into the hallway. Pelo warns that the neighbors will hear. Ferit tells her to stay inside. Serter also tells Pelo to stay inside. He wants to talk to Ferit. Ferit snarks, see your boyfriend… I mean Burak… wants to talk. Serter assures her there is nothing to worry about. Nothing will happen. Just two minutes. Pelo reluctantly closes the door.
Ferit’s face darkens and his hand goes up to his forehead. He asks Serter, what are you doing here? Serter replies, the girl lives here. This isn’t appropriate. A woman and child come down the stairs. Ferit relents. Okay, not here. I’ll meet you at Demir Park tomorrow morning. Serter nods. Ferit says he’ll be waiting and he leaves. Serter takes a deep breath and knocks on Pelo’s door.
#52 part 2
Ferit returns home and sees Sultan by the staff quarters. He asks her if she’s seen Abidin. She tells him he drove Seyran and Suna and explains the situation. Ferit turns on his charming smile, come to my room when you’re done working, okay? We have to talk. Sultan gets a bit flustered. She needs to see Dicle first and then she will come. As soon as he turns away from Sultan, the smile leaves his face.
Sultan enters the quarters and calls out for Dicle, who is sitting on her bed with Yusuf, and it looks like they were kissing or about to kiss. They jump up. It’s my mother! Hide! [where can that camel hide in a tiny room?] Dicle runs out to meet her mom. Sultan is ticked. Dicle was supposed to be watching Firat. Sultan questions her, what were you doing in your room? Were you with someone?
Sultan opens the door and looks around. Yusuf has successfully crouched behind the door. Sultan tells Dicle she’s in charge of Ferit’s room now. Dicle says she was already taking care of it. Sultan replies that was only if no one else could do it. Now Seyran Hanim only wants you to do it. But be careful. Be attentive to everything that happens. Report everything you see and hear, understand? Dicle asks if something happened. Sultan doesn’t want questions, just that she does it. It doesn’t matter if it’s important or not. [Ifakat’s bidding in the edited scene.] Yusuf got an earful.
Ferit enters the yali and crosses paths with his mom. He knows that Seyran isn’t home. Smiling Gulgun says that Seyran is talking to her father about the job offer. She’s asking his permission. Ferit reminds her, you didn’t keep your Yusuf promise, did you? Take my side this time. [it almost sounds like a threat and not a request.]
Gulgun thinks Ferit is overreacting. What’s so bad if Seyran wants to do this? Ferit snaps, I don’t care. I don’t want her to do this! I don’t want my wife getting together with random people [aka, men], for everyone to know who she is and for her picture to be everywhere. I don’t like it! You must help me!
Calm down, Guglun replies, you’re acting crazy! Whatever you’re thinking is nonsense. Ferit says, you all drove me crazy! He points his finger at her, you have to fix this, is that clear? It’s over. He grabs her hand. She tells him to let go. Ferit goes upstairs and Gulgun walks away.
Sultan enters the yali and quickly heads up to Ferit’s room. Abi and Seyran return to the yali.
Ferit is researching Efe on his phone. Sultan knocks at the door. He sighs. Time to work on whatever he wants from Sultan. Sultan stands at the door with bedding and a sly smile. Ferit turns on predator mode, but it’s not sex that he’s after. She asks, what happened? Why are you looking at me like that? There’s something that doesn’t sit well with me, he replies, I’ll ask you something. Answer honestly. If you lie to me, there will be consequences. Understand? Okay, ask, she answers.
Ferit backs her up towards the bed and fiddles with the bedding. He continues, this will stay between us. Everyone in this house, including my beloved grandfather, and everyone who works here, keeps secrets. And I know you know everything. There’s no doubt in my mind. Sultan gets nervous. She places the bedding on the bed and says, yes, probably.
Sultan is very uncomfortable. Ferit is very close. She says, everyone has a secret life, but I don’t know what to tell you about what you’re asking. She moves away from him. Ferit closes in on her again. Sultan clears her throat and offers, for example, the boy who recently got here, I think there’s something about him.
#52 part 3
Ferit says, I don’t care about that camel. He won’t be here for long. I’m actually curious about another person who is close to you. Sultan asks him to get to the point. He replies, it’s Ifakat yenge. Sultan panics. He asks, is there anything you know about her that you’d like to tell me? She answers, what could I know? He wonders why she’s so tense. She claims she’s not, she’s just surprised by the questions.
Be honest with me, Ferit says, you’re closer to Ifakat yenge than anyone else. He whispers in her ear, I know you know everything. She was sick today. What’s wrong with her? She doesn’t get migraines often, there must be something else. Sultan turns her head away from Ferit. Yes, she gets them when she’s stressed. She’s probably nervous about something that happened.
Then tell me all you know, Ferit replies, is Ifakat yenge keeping a secret from the whole family? Sultan claims that Ifakat doesn’t tell her anything. Ferit pushes Sultan’s hair behind her ear and brushes his hand on her face. You know, Sultan, don’t you?
Seyran is coming up the stairs. Ferit is waiting for his answer from Sultan. Sultan hesitates. She thinks of something, uh… it’s that Suna is the right woman for Fuat Bey. That’s why she came to the mansion. Ferit is taken aback. What? Are you kidding? Seyran opens the door and she’s not happy to see Sultan there. What’s going on, Ferit?
Sultan hurries to get the bedding. She explains, I came to change the sheets because the others are busy. Ferit plays the game. Yes, you should do these things when we’re not home. You love to meddle in our affairs, don’t you? You’re becoming unbearable. Leave. Sultan rushes out and catches her breath outside the door.
Seyran is ticked. What happened, Ferit? Why was she here? She already told you, Ferit replies, she came to change the sheets. Seyran questions—at this time? That’s why I got upset with her, Ferit says, she walked in just a minute ago. She’s annoying. Sultan hears this and quickly leaves. Seyran isn’t satisfied with this explanation.
Ferit asks, what’s wrong? What’s with the attitude? Seyran walks away. He guesses the conversation with Kazim didn’t go how she wanted. Seyran says she doesn’t like Sultan and doesn’t want her in their room. He smiles and asks her if her father threw her out when he found out about the job. He smiles at the prospect.
Seyran answers, yes, that’s what happened. Ferit says it was predictable. Poor you. Seyran drops the bomb—my father gave me permission. He accepted. Ferit laughs, çok komiksin. I decided it will be the three of us today. Seyran… Defne teyze… and the little bird. They both laugh. Ferit says, I want you to entertain me all day. You poor thing, Seyran says, you know what? Stop making a fool of yourself and start crying.
Ferit says he’ll call Kazim Baba. Seyran tells him to put it on speaker. She wants to hear it. Ferit stops smiling and asks if she’s serious. Yes, she replies, I texted Defne Hanim. We’re meeting tomorrow. Aww… I guess your conversation with Defne Teyzecigim didn’t go how you hoped. Ferit is upset. I’m telling you not to do this. Why don’t you listen to me? Seyran fires back, am I your dog? Sit, Seyran. Stand, Seyran. Give your paw, Seyran.
Do you hear yourself, Ferit says, your little mind can’t predict what will happen this time. What can’t I predict, Seyran asks. You’ll bring shame on yourself, he replies, you’re incapable of reason. Why, she asks, because I’m stupid? You’re not even on social media, he says, what will you do? Start an account? If the job requires it, she says, what’s the big deal? He laughs, who would follow you? Think about it.
#52 part 4
Seyran asks, why do you care? It’s not your concern. It’s the brand’s business. Ferit sighs, they’re nothing but empty promises. Why would this man make you the face of the brand just because you took some nice pictures? I’m not the one who told him, she answers, Defne Hanim did. The man saw something in me, so that’s why. I know exactly what that man saw, Ferit replies, I know very well. We’ll see what happens, Seyran says.
Ferit tells her to stop it and don’t drive him crazy. I don’t want you to take this job. Or else, what, Seyran asks, I don’t understand why you are acting this way. What are you scared of? He asks, why would I be scared? That’s what Seyran wants to know. Why are you blowing this out of proportion? He counters, and why are you determined to become famous?
Seyran makes a mocking sigh. Ah… yes… she spreads her arms out wide… I want to be famous. I want everyone to know who I am. I want everyone to see me. Is that what you think? Exactly, Ferit answers, I knew that’s what this is about. You’re dying to be famous. You think this will make you important. She fires back, and that’s why you don’t want me to take the job, right? Whatever the reason, I don’t care, he says, I forbid it. I don’t want you to do it. Ah, how well you say, “I don’t want”, she replies, it’s simple. I’m taking this job, Ferit.
The argument continues. Ferit says, you can’t just act on what Defne tells you. That man hasn’t even made you an offer. That’s why I’m telling you, Seyran replies, I have to go to that meeting. If nothing is going to happen, then why are you so scared? I’m going to talk to him tomorrow, okay? If he doesn’t offer me the job, I’ll come back. Ferit answers, you’re going to have coffee with a man you don’t know, who wants to hire you?
We’re going in circles, Seyran says with exasperation, I don’t want to talk about this anymore. [and I’m tired of recapping this.] I get what you’re trying to do. I had the faintest of doubts, but it’s clear now. I’m warning you for the last time, Ferit says, you won’t accept this, okay? I don’t know if this will work out, she replies, but I am going to listen to his offer tomorrow. Come with me if you like, but if you won’t, you can’t stop me. OKAY?
Wow, wow, wow, Ferit responds, look at the Antep pistachio… the shell cracked without us noticing. Seyan replies, yes, I’m an Antep pistachio, but I can also be an Istanbul lokum (reference to the sweet aka Turkish delight), Feritcigim. She gets up from the chair and hovers over him. Therefore, instead of being stubborn, it would be better if you tried to be with me instead of against me, Ferit Korhan. She grabs his chin. Is that clear? [Does Ferit seem impressed?]
Sultan brings dinner to Ifakat who is still not feeling well. Ifakat notices that Sultan looks nervous and asks what’s happened. Sultan hesitates, uh… no, it’s just… I wouldn’t bother you if it wasn’t important. But I think it’s something you should know. Ferit Bey… he was asking me strange questions about you today, and when I didn’t answer, he cornered me. He demanded answers to his questions.
Ifakat rises from her chair. What kind of questions? Sultan hesitates again. Uh… well, he said that everyone in the mansion has secrets. He was certain that you have secrets, too. Then he cornered me and wanted answers. What did you tell him, Ifakat asks. Sultan is quick to answer, nothing, I promise. I told him I knew nothing.
#52 part 5
Hmm… you told him you didn’t know, Ifakat replies, not that I didn’t have secrets? Sultan panics. I wasn’t thinking clearly that moment. Uh… it might be possible… that Ferit knows about Orhan Bey and you. Ifakat is stunned, then enraged. She delivers an Ottoman slap to Sultan. She grabs her and shakes her and shouts, you saw and heard nothing! Forget what you saw! Sultan cries, I swear I didn’t say anything, I promise. I’ve kept my mouth shut.
Ifakat grabs Sultan’s face. Keep it shut! You’ll cover your eyes and look away! Do you hear me? Now get out! I came here to warn you, Sultan replies, Ferit bey has been acting strange lately. I don’t want you to get hurt. Ifakat shouts—defol! (get out!) Sultan hurries out. Ifakat can hardly breathe.
Ferit is on the bed scrolling on his phone. Seyran comes out of the bathroom, wearing a very short dress. Her phone rings. It’s Defne. Seyran confirms the meeting tomorrow. Ferit asks what the call was about. Seyran explains they set the time and place for the meeting. Why go when you won’t accept the offer, he says. Call her back and cancel. She snaps back, I don’t take orders from you.
More arguing in circles. Ferit doesn’t want her to meet with just any man. Seyran makes her case. He’s a successful businessman with his own brand and he’s also doing charity work. Not some random guy. Ferit says she doesn’t get it. The guy liked what he saw and made up this job just to meet you. Do you hear yourself, Seyran replies, I’m married to you. Why would he meet me just because he likes me?
Ferit says he knows what these people are like. I looked him up and discovered a lot. Yes, Seyran says, for your benefit. Why can’t you trust anyone? Why do you invent scenarios? Ferit replies, you don’t understand yet, despite knowing everything I went through in this house? I can’t trust anyone here, not even my father.
Seyran is frustrated. Just because he (Orhan) did something wrong, doesn’t mean we’ll all make the same mistake. I lost my trust in everyone, Ferit replies, I can’t trust anyone around me. Is that what you want to hear? Great, she says, get ready, we’ll be late for dinner.
Ferit says he’s not having dinner tonight. You go alone. Tell them Ferit won’t be there. If anyone has a problem, they can tell me to my face. Why are you doing this, Seyran asks, it’s like you enjoy making things worse. Ferit answers, if I go downstairs when I’m this upset, it will be much worse. You go. Afiyet olsun. Seyro leaves.
Seyran stops as she passes Halis’ room. She takes a breath and heads to the door. She hesitates. Should she do this? Another breath. She readies herself and knocks. Halis says come in. She opens the door. He smiles at her, ah, Seyran kızım, come in. She stays near the door, head down—good evening, ağam. He asks if something is wrong. She approaches and says that Ferit is tired. He has a headache and won’t be coming to dinner. And if you will excuse me, I’d like to stay with him. Can we have dinner in our room tonight?
Halis is concerned. Is something wrong? Tell me. Is Ferit okay? He’s fine, Seyran replies, it must be the weather. If it was something bad, I’d tell you. He even wanted to come down, but I thought it would be better if he rested. She smiles, please excuse us just for tonight.
#52 part 6
Halis looks at her for a moment and then says, tell Sefika to prepare whatever you want. And tell Ferit to come see me after dinner. That is if he doesn’t fall asleep afterwards. Yes, of course, she answers. She turns to leave and Halis calls her. He says, spouses should always support each other. Today you, tomorrow Ferit. In spite of everything, the most valuable thing is the family. It should always come first. Always be the same as you are now. Let it be like that. Seyran smiles at him and thanks him. [Halis should know.]
Ferit mopes in the room. Seyran returns. She tells him that grandpa would like to see him, but not now, after dinner. I spoke to your grandpa. I got permission not to go to dinner. Sefika will make us dinner. He asks her why she did this. So you don’t feel bad, she replies, you’d do the same for me. What did you tell grandpa, he asks. I said you were sick, she replies, I told him you wanted to come down, but I asked that you stay in the room tonight.
Ferit is pleased. He manages a slight smile. He jokes, did you fall down the stairs or something? She doesn’t get it and shakes her head. He asks, why are you worried about me? She flashes her wedding ring. Because we are husband and wife. One of us should give in. What a surprise, he says, this must mean you called off the meeting. Your husband asked and in marriage, sometimes you need to give in, right my wife? She replies, yes, my husband, now you will give in, right?
Knock at the door. Sultan has brought dinner. She says Dicle is not well and Carlos is with Latif Bey. That’s why she brought it. Seyro knows, Sefika informed her. She takes the tray from Sultan. Sultan closes the door and gathers herself before leaving.
Seyran has changed her clothes and Seyfer eat dinner in their room Ferit says, I’m going to ask you something nicely but don’t get upset. Remember the bet we made in the cabin? Seyran gives a sigh—don’t, Ferit. I’m asking nicely, he says, don’t get upset. Why are you cheating on the bet, he asks, did you think I forgot what I won? Or did you make the bet knowing you’d never pay off. She tells him there was no such plan.
Ferit asks, then why haven’t you kissed me like you said you would? I never said I wouldn’t, Seyro replies, maybe I just like to take things slow. She smiles. They laugh. Okay, he says, tell me how much time you need. But to tell the truth, you’ve already had plenty. It’s been a while since you promised. I’m just telling you so it won’t appear like you’re lying and not paying the bet. This doesn’t befit you.
Yes, of course, Seyran says. I’ll tell you what. If you promise not to fight with me tomorrow and promise not to cause problems, and, if you help me decide on the offer, then at night, I could maybe… consider it. Ferit laughs—tomorrow night? Okay. Sounds great. It’s a deal. Seyran makes sure he understands—only if you don’t ruin it tomorrow, okay? Besides, I didn’t say yes. I said I’d consider it.
You’re so bad, Ferit says, I’m begging only for your consideration. Seyro warns, keep it up and I won’t consider anything. Fine, he replies, just think about it. Consider whatever you want. I’m determined.
#52 part 7
They edited out an advertisement that was kind of cute. Seyran gets up with her drink. Ferit follows her. She turns and spills the bright red drink over his yellow sweatshirt, and it splatters on her, too. He thinks his lucky shirt is ruined. She thinks she can clean it. There’s playful banter. It doesn’t seem like an ad until Seyro puts the clothes in the washing machine and we see it’s an ad for laundry detergent. We cut back to the real story here. But of course, the detergent gets the stain out as we see in a later scene. Seyran should have bet on this!
Ifakat is in total panic mode waiting for Orhan. Where were you?! I couldn’t get up from the dinner table, he says. What’s wrong? Uh… Ferit… Orhan is alarmed—Ferit what? She answers, Ferit might have seen us. He’s floored. She’s crying. He hopes this isn’t so. I don’t know if it happened either on New Year’s or after, he’s been very rude whenever we speak, she says. He doesn’t look me in the face, he knows something for sure…
Orhan thinks. He’s been strange with me, too. Like he’s lost all respect for me. And that’s why they didn’t go down for dinner. They asked my father for his approval. Ifakat is convinced that Ferit saw something. We need to be very careful with Ferit and Seyran, she says.
Orhan tells her to calm down. How can I be calm, she replies, what happens if your father finds out? What happens if the whole family finds out? We’d say it’s not true, he replies. What could he have seen? She says, all I know is that we need to be very careful. I’m very scared. We’d be ruined. He asks, what should we do? She answers, for now… you need to stay away from me, Orhan. At least until all of this is forgotten.
And we are out.
Thanks, dondi. As usual your recap was terrific. I'm wondering when, or if, Ferit will shape up. The scene with Pelin was outrageous. I'm wondering if the "duel" with Serter in the park is at the same time as Seyran's meeting with Defne and Efe.
It's interesting to me that, presumably being the same age, Ferit and Pelin have different living arrangements. Ferit is still at home, while Pelin has her own apartment. I suppose this could be what dondi has mentioned several times: that the Korhans have Antep values and keep their children at home.
Sultan is quite the hypocrite. She clearly had an affair with Ferit. But she doesn't want Dicle to have any male relationships. Before the new thing with Yusuf, it was being kept from her about another possible boyfriend.
That was a nice bombshell about Ifakat working on Suna and Fuat. But it seems unlikely that our self-centered galán will tell Seyran so that Suna can know about it.
It was a long shot, but I halfway expected Seyran to tell Halis about this opportunity with Efe.
Will we ever find out who and why Halis married? The way he still has feelings for Hattuc hints to me that he might have married for money or position. Also, is Hatice some kind of nickname? Halis calls her that, but I believe everyone else uses Hattuc.
Ep #56, part 1
Thursday, May 13, 2026
While Eugenio is walking down the street, a masked man comes up behind him and puts a knife to Eugenio's throat. He warns Eugenio that if Antonia doesn't stop investigating Cruz, Eugenio will be killed. He cuts Eugenio's leg instead of his throat as he runs away. Eugenio calls Adela to come and get him. Back at the house, Adela and Eugenio talk. She will return to the Fiscalia office to help Our Team. Adela tells Antonia that Eugenio was attacked as a warning.
Hugo interviews Lobo about Lobo's time in the hospital after being poisoned. Both Cruz and Azufrero were in Lobo's hospital room together, conspiring to use Renata to get at the treasure caches. Later, Hugo and Adela work to find the hidden accounts that Cruz must have. He is obviously paying his attorney from some source of funds.
Fernando and Santi go to the adoption agency to start the adopting process.
Miranda and Alejandro plan for Miranda and Renata to travel to San Ysidro.
Adela and Cocula cross paths at the Fiscalia. Adela becomes nauseous when she hears Cocula's voice. She is pretty sure that it was Cocula who violated her. Adela, Antonia and Lobo try to figure out if Cocula was the rapist, and if Cocula was the man who fought Lobo after leaving the rape scene. The rapist was wearing a ski mask, so they did not see his face properly. (They didn't recognize his eyes, unlike our Novelera, who did recognize his eyes.) Lobo wants to talk to Cocula to see if he has the same voice as the man he fought with. Antonia will be with Lobo in the interview room, so Lobo won't fly off the handle. Adela asks that they don't tell Hugo, if they decide that Cocula was the rapist. Antonia emphasizes that the investigation has to be by the book to stand up in court. She can't have Lobo and Hugo getting emotional and doing something stupid. Lobo and Antonia confront Cocula. Lobo does recognize his voice. Cocula taunts him. And Lobo predictably goes out of control. (My question is how could Lobo have been a good cop? He has no self control.)
Ep #56, part 2
Thursday, May 13, 2026
Nacho is upset when he comes back from seeing Cruz in prison in the previous episode. And Nacho has no money. He feels that Leonor is behaving oddly cold. Nacho and Sue go back to the friend Rodos' apartment.
After the Garcia family says goodbye to Remedios, Azufrero tells Oscar and Misael to leave the warehouse and hide. Oscar is wanted by the police for shooting a cop. Oscar and Misael show up at the same apartment where Nacho and Sue are, since they also know Rodos. Nacho fights with Oscar over his money that Oscar stole. Misael tries to make peace, since they all need to be in hiding in that apartment for various reasons.
Azufrero leaves the warehouse and goes to Zahie's club to hide out there. He figures the police have already raided it, and they won't come back. Zahie doesn't really want him there. He goes to a back room and drinks. Eugenio shows up at the club while Azufrero is in a back room. Tuqueque walks past nearby. Does Eugenio recognize Tuqueque? Azufrero commiserates to Tuqueque and declares War on Our Team.
Graciela visits Cruz in prison. Cruz figured out that Leonor grabbed the incriminating papers from the home safe and gave them to Antonia. Gracie tells Cruz that Lobo is the true papa of Renata. Gracie goes to see Leonor. She tells Leonor that she understands that Leonor sold out Cruz. Leonor denies it. Gracie suggests to Leonor that Leonor should divorce Cruz.
Fabio pledges his support to Cruz. Cruz tasks him with finding out who provided the detectives with the video of Cruz and Azufrero together.
Leonor goes to see Cruz in jail, wearing dark glasses to hide from the public. Leonor and Cruz argue. Cruz threatens to tell Antonia that Leonor killed Antonia's grandmother Guillermina. And Leonor is guilty of having Carlos the p.r. guy killed, and of killing their grandchild by causing Sue to unknowingly drink an abortion drug. Leonor reminds Cruz that he cleaned up all the evidence in the Guillermina killing. She came to ask Cruz for money for the boys' college from his secret accounts. Cruz tells Leonor that he wants a divorce. Leonor says no to the divorce. (Why not divorce Cruz? Why? All the prestige of being his wife is gone.)
A man walks into the Fiscalia office wearing a worker's white coveralls, pulling a cart with a tank of compressed gas. The man puts on a gas mask and opens the canister (in some storeroom?). The gas goes up into the ceiling vents and then permeates the Fiscalia office area. The Fiscalia employees all start evacuating the building. End episode.
Monday starts the Ultimate Chapters. How many weeks will this be? La Copa Mundial starts June 11, with a lot of Telemundo coverage. They may have a couple days of filler (like La Casa de Los Famosos) in there.
Thanks, Anastasia. Boy these episodes are loaded, especially in comparison with dizis. Telenovelas, at least this one, are loaded with rapid scenes. Sometimes it seems like there are about 20 individual ones. Dizis seem to be slower with a lot more intensity in individual scenes and people showing psychological effects of what they're experiencing.
Eugenio didn't want Antonia to know about his being attacked. I guess Adela felt she needed to know.
That sure looks like Lobo is a prime witness. He was in a hospital bed, having been poisoned. They were standing over his bed gloating and talking about getting their hands on las caletas. They showed Lobo telling it all, but didn't seem that excited about such a potent witness.
I guess both Lobo and Adela being sure Cocula is a killer and a rapist isn't enough because he wore a mask? This bothers me.
Misael was the one talking sense to Nacho and Oscar about the three of them needing a place to stay.
Not sure what's going on with the smoke in the Fiscalía. El Az said he'd burn the place down. Does he plan to knock everyone out and then set fire to it? Or is the gas enough to kill them. Fer and Santi are safe. Pretty sure they're not killing off Antonia, so..... Guess we'll have to wait until Monday to find out.
#53 – Part 1 of 4
We get a repeat of the scene where Ifakat tells Orhan they need to stay away from each other. Orhan exits her room. Ferit is descending the stairs and looks like a thundercloud. Orhan says that he’s on his way to his office. Ferit says he is on his way to see Halis, that he asked to see him. [Is there a veiled threat that Ferit might tell his grandfather what he saw?]
Ferit is always at his best with his beloved grandfather. Halis smiles and tells him that he’s usually up late. After all, at his age his days are numbered. The suggestion is that he doesn’t like to waste time sleeping. Halis asks if Ferit is doing better [presumably since he vanished and worried everyone]. Halis asks if something is bothering him. Ferit says he feels badly about things he doesn’t understand. Halis reminds him he has a wife who cares about him. Has he tried asking her what she thinks of him? See yourself through her eyes. She’s been understanding.
Halis is talking about open communication in a marriage. It would be good if she told you when she’s upset. You should only worry about what you cannot see. It’s hard to be always the same, but it will be worse if you’re alone. Ferit says that the advice was only to worry about what he can’t see. But what if he sees something devastating? Should he always share that with his wife? Halis says that perhaps the truth might make things better. Discussing your feelings will make you feel better. Ferit has tears in his eyes. “You’re the best, grandfather!” Halis embraces him.
Serter is watching a movie on a laptop with Pelin. He sees that she’s preoccupied. She doesn’t want him to go too that showdown with Ferit. [Watching this again to do the recap, I pay closer attention to what she says.] When I think of your family… I don’t want him to get hurt. Serter insists that he doesn’t plan on hurting Ferit, nor does his family.
Seyran wakes up. No Ferit, but there’s a note. He says he went to the gym but will be back in time to go with her to the meeting with Defne and Efe.
Ferit and Abidin are waiting for Serter, who’s late. They speculate that he chickened out. Ferit verbally blames Pelin for making him do this. [!!!] He realizes Seyran is waiting for him. They start to leave, but Ferit gets a text from Serter that he’s on his way. Abidin begs him to leave because Seyran is waiting. This isn’t worth it. Sigh. We can always count on Ferit to make the wrong choice. Abidin keeps trying. He reminds him of the last time he met someone, and it was a disaster. [He met that paparazzo and was recorded punching him. Abidin had to save his bacon.]
Ferit says he won’t hit the guy. Abidin tries asking what’s the end game if you do get him to stay away from Pelin. Pelin still loves me. If she didn’t, I wouldn’t do this. She’s important to me. She’s only with him because she can’t be with me. She’s doing it because she’s hurt. I’m trying to protect her. [And spending her life waiting for him to make time for her and propping up his ego is good for her?] She shouldn’t be seeing anyone right now. She needs time to think. Abidin asks if she needs to wait until the earth stops rotating. Ferit just laughs and insists he knows best.
#53 – Part 2 of 4
Seyran texts and then immediately calls. Ferit ignores this. Seyran is pacing. Asuman offers to drive her. Seyran appreciates her kindness, but she says it’s important that Ferit come along.
We see Defne and Efe waiting at a restaurant. [I also spotted a Christmas tree at the restaurant. We sort of discussed Muslims, especially in Istanbul, having them. But it’s to celebrate the New Year.] Efe is impatient and ready to leave.
Serter arrives and walks right up to Ferit. Abidin looks anguished. Serter is clearly the adult here. He asks Ferit what he wants. You can stop seeing Pelin. Why? Why do you think I’d want you to stop seeing Pelin? [Because you’re a dog in the manger, Ferit!] Serter is as cool as a cucumber, almost amused. He says he can’t imagine why, but he’s sure Ferit is going to tell him. Ferit laughs, saying Serter is a smart guy. He gets very close and tells Serter to listen. You will never see Pelin again. Why are you looking at me that way? Just do what I say.
Serter asks him to calm down. Leave right now and forget this ever happened. Ferit says he doesn’t get it. Stop telling me what to do, Ferit! And stop pressuring her. She’s intelligent and can make her own decisions.
Ferit laughs sarcastically. Why are you so lovable. How many have you fooled with your act. I know about people like you. I can ruin you. Serter tells him to leave and not provoke him. Ferit pretends to be agreeable. He then turns and touches his forehead. Abidin starts running. Ferit punches Serter, but he doesn’t go down. He rubs his chin and smiles slightly. A bearded guy gets out of a car. Addressing Ferit as “kid”, he asks what’s wrong with him.
Car after car drive up onto the rooftop parking area. About 20 guys surround Ferit and Abidin.
Efe is ready to leave, telling Defne that he has another appointment. Just then Seyran arrives looking gorgeous in a coral dress. Efe stares, and his jaw drops a little. He extends his hand, and Seyran takes it.
All those cars arrive at what looks like a car dealership. The bearded guy, Serter’s uncle, ushers them inside and to a conference room. Serter runs up behind, asking his uncle not to hurt Ferit.
Efe tells Seyran not to have preconceived notions about what the project would be. She says she’s confused about whether to accept. Or if she’s right for it. Efe says he thinks she’ll be unimaginably successful. He also says that many people overthink things, overriding their feelings. His way has always been to listen to his heart. Seyran thinks for a second and then blurts out that she wants to be a part of this. She couldn’t forgive herself if she passed up the chance to help the poor girls who would benefit. But she still has doubts about the details. Efe assures her that she’d have complete control over the clothes, the makeup, and her image.
#53 – Part 3 of 4
Efe shows Seyran a contract with an amount he says would just be to start. Seyran’s eyes widen, but she keeps her cool. She says that Defne realizes that she has to speak with her family first. Efe keeps pushing. Defne suggests that she sign the contract. She can tear it up later if she reconsiders.
We’re back in that tense conference room. Abidin quietly says there’s been a misunderstanding. The bearded uncle backhands him violently. Ferit tries to jump out of his chair but is restrained. The uncle asks Ferit which hand he used to hit Serter. Serter is outside and starts yelling to be let in. He then says he’ll speak to Ferit alone. Ferit looks lethal. Serter tells them that this is serious. And he doesn’t know if he can stop his uncle next time. Ferit grins defiantly. Abidin manages to get Ferit out of there.
Pelin is pacing and asks Burak to call Serter. Ferit calls her from the car. He’s in a red rage. He orders her to stop seeing Serter. Block his number! When she asks what happened, he screams at her to stop questioning him and never see Serter again. She asks if Serter hurt him, and Ferit loses it. Are you stupid? What could that idiot do to me? [The idiot stopped his uncle from doing something awful to Ferit’s punching hand.] He keeps calling her pathetic and stupid. He says he’ll calm down when he sees her face. He doesn’t believe that stuff about moving on with her life.
Pelin is very upset. Serter arrives. He tells her nothing bad happened. He didn’t hurt Ferit. He met where Ferit wanted to meet. But he punches me, and my guys showed up. I stopped them from hurting him. We talked in the showroom. Pelin is a bit suspicious.
Ferit tells Abidin that those idiots made Seyran wait for hours. They’ll see what I’m capable of. Abidin blows his top. They sent ten cars! You must let it go. Ferit turns on Abidin, calling him a coward. I thought you were a tough army veteran. Abidin tells him to shut it. He was the one who got backhanded. This has gotten out of hand. You need to tell your father. And later your grandfather. These are not people you mess with. Ferit just keeps up his threats.
Seyran comes home in a cab. Unbelievable! Yusuf asks her where she went. She tells him to stay out of her business. She tells him to move on, and he asks if she’s jealous of Dicle. Seyran’s eyes nearly roll back in her head. He then tells her it’s Sultan she needs to worry about. [I can’t remember what he knows about that. Anyone?]
Seyran talks with Suna about the offer. As usual, Suna’s advice is good. She says they think that Seyran is a good investment.
Ferit comes in looking sad and asks Seyran to forgive him. I was going to come, but… But what? I called and texted and you couldn’t find time to answer? He swears he’ll make it up to her. Did you think you’d lie to me and I’d sit here waiting. She seems to be hinting he didn’t come on purpose, so she’d lose the opportunity. She asks if he was with his girlfriend. He looks conciliatory and tells her to call Defne to reschedule. Seyran says that she already spoke with him. She went without him.
#53 – Part 4 of 4
Ferit warns her it’s a bad time for a joke. She says she told him she had to go. He agreed to come along, but he didn’t show up. She kept her end of the bargain. Ferit yells that he left her a note. How could she go alone? She didn’t even wait! [He just got through telling Abidin how much time was lost on the Serter mission. Does he think businesspeople who have arranged an appointment wait forever for a Korhan?]
Seyran tells him to stop yelling, and he says what’s the problem. Your father yells all the time and hits you. And you do what he says. Is that the only thing you understand?
OK! Go on! Hit me! Hit me if you want me to obey you! Do it! She backs him into a corner and tells him that’s the only thing he hasn’t done yet. He yells back. Ifakat walks right in and tells them to stop. They can be heard screaming throughout the house. What’s going on? Ferit snarls that what happens here is none of her business. Do I ask you what you do in your room? [Whoa!] She raises her chin and tells him to respect her. Don’t speak to me the way you speak to her.
Seyran is angry and asks if it’s OK for Ferit to speak to her that way as long as he respects Ifakat. Ifakat tells her to behave. She’s put the family through enough. Ferit orders her to get out and never come in there like that again. She tells him he’s out of control. Do what you want but behave yourself when you come to the table. Seyran goes to the balcony, fighting tears.
Serter wants to take Pelin to dinner. She says she’s not up to it but agrees to make him breakfast.
Ifakat approaches Orhan in a corridor. She tells him that Ferit saw them. She doesn’t know when. But he’s rude and makes insinuations. He offends her. He never was like that before. Orhan says they’ll deny it. If he speaks to you again like that, act normal and get angry with him. Ifakat also thinks Seyran was different.
Anastasia: Thank you very much for your recap of Thursday's episode.
*Slippery Cruz has nothing to lose & is determined to bring down Lady Macbeth if she keeps getting uppity.
*Buji Goldie Locks keeps messing around & finding out OMG. Is she on that so-called "I'm Addicted to Slippery Cruz & Cannot Stop"? drug?
*Not shocked about Lobo getting triggered by going off on Cocula the Rapist.
*Speaking of Hotheads, Oscar, Nacho need serious anvils. Misael, Cesar & Sue: Not sure about them.
*I really hope Eugenio knows what he's doing with his detective snooping at Zahie's nightclub.
*Novelera: Wondering who'll be left standing since Jackass Big Ed's next revenge attack has begun.
*I want to repeat it again: Remedios is dead because of Hothead Oscar shooting a police officer.
I have been reading your recaps lately. Having watched one episode I can see their faces. That Ferit is too much. Would be nice if he grew up. He never heard or accepted the word "No". People like that drive me nuts.
Thanks for chiming in, Anastasia. The Ferit actor is, IMHO, a good actor. He's very handsome, and he has a very expressive face. Occasionally he partially redeems himself and gets Viewerville's hopes up. But then he dashes them in the very next episode.
